Payment Card Systems Were Breached
On September 8th, 2014, Home Depot released a statement indicating that its payment card systems
were breached. An investigation had started on September 2nd but they were still trying to discover
the actual scope and impact of the breach. Home Depot was one of the many victims to a retail data
breach in 2014. The unfortunate thing is the way the attacker s infiltrated the POS networks and how
the attackers were able to steal the payment card data, were the same methods used in the Target data
breach. By ignoring the warnings created from the breach at Target, Home Depot allowed the attackers
to use similar methods that could have been easily defended. Through the use of a third party vendor s
logon credentials, the attackers were able to gain access. Then they exploited a zero day vulnerability
in Windows, which allowed them to pivot from the vendor specific environment to the Home Depot
corporate environment. Since both networks were linked, this was very easy. Once they were in the
Home Depot network, they were able install memory scraping malware on over 7,500 self checkout
POS terminals. They just put out an update to all the POS machines. Just like any IT shop would do.
This malware was able to grab 56 million credit and debit cards. The malware was also able to capture
53 million email addresses. The stolen payment cards were used to put up for sale and bought by
carders. The stolen email addresses were helpful in putting together large phishing campaigns.

Closed-Ended Questions
This week I compared and contrasted two short one minute YouTube videos of a pretend doctor
implementing closed ended questions verse open ended questions. The portrayal shown in the video
was comparable to the depiction described in our text closed ended questions that can be answered
with one word, and open ended questions...are broad and require more than one or two word answers
(Chang, Decker, Scott, 2018). The actor portraying the doctor enters the examine room and states,
Jose, I hear you are coming in today because you are sick (Stoddard, 2016)? [Doctor puts hand
sanitizer on his hands] Jose responds with a one word yes. The doctor has a question tone but it
technically is not a question. The conversations continues in a direct back and forth manner, the doctor
asks a question to focus on a particular area and Jose responds with a one word yes or no, never giving
Jose an opportunity to explain his symptoms. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whiteman, [patient] what brings you in today? [Shakes patient s hand.] Dr. McGreat (Stoddard, 2016).

ended question such as: when did this begin, what have you been experiencing, tell me a little more,
since this, what has your diet consisted of? For each of these questions the patient was given the
opportunity to elaborate on his responses. Although these videos portray a medical doctor s office, the
principles used are pinpointing the questioning skills of those in the human services field. Improper
use of closed ended questions can leave the client not trusting the human services practitioner and not
trusting that they are the expert on their own feelings and emotions. When clients do not trust the
human service practitioner they are less likely to build a relationship and confide in the human service

Instruction Methods For Teaching Decisions
I honestly thought that this lesson was going to be taught to teach to the class. I spent countless hours
reading the information in the curriculum handbook and even collaborating with other teachers just to
understand the material properly. I was thoroughly surprised at how well the lesson was received and
it greatly boosted my self confidence in my planning and teaching decisions. This lesson was all about
symmetry and dividing crazy cakes evenly between two people by looking for smaller shapes within
the larger shape. The shapes of the cakes literally were crazy because they were not shaped like your
normal cake. There were many different angles and sides, because of this each student had to really sit
and visualize what other shapes were inside the cake. I feel that my instruction methods worked great
for this lesson. I followed the plan given to me by the curriculum book by talking about the activity
first then letting the students work together in groups to divide the cakes as best as possible. I thought
it would be beneficial to let students come up to the board and practice with dividing the cakes before
letting them work with their groups. I think that by allowing a few of them to show their initial
thought process allowed others to see how they could divide their cakes as well. I then gave direct
instructions on how we were to transition to our tables and begin working on their crazy cakes. The
classroom has been struggling lately with transitions, so I was very

Apollo 11 Research Papers
The Apollo 11 mission of 1969 marks the biggest leap in technological advancements for humanity.
Neil Armstrong is seen taking the first steps on the moon forever making his mark in humanity.
However, theories surrounding the moon landing have come to light. Conspiracy theorists say NASA,
the National Aeronautics Space Administration, have faked the Apollo 11 moon landing. Yet, present
evidence can support the authenticity of the moon landing. Evidence such as photos, rock samples,
technology, and computer monitoring support the moon landing. The moon landing of 1969 did
happen. One of the key pieces of evidence of the moon landing is photo evidence. Numerous photos

Dr. David Mckay, Chief Scientist for Planetary Science and Exploration at the Johnson Space Center,
concludes, Moon rocks are absolutely unique... They differ from Earth rocks in many aspects. The
rocks contain a composition unlike the composition of rocks from Earth. Randy L. Korotev of the
Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences of Washington University in St. Louis gives, Lunar
samples show evidence of formation in an extremely dry environment with essentially no free oxygen
and little gravity... Lunar rocks and soil contain gases (hydrogen, helium, nitrogen, neon, argon,
krypton, and xenon) derived from the solar wind with isotope ratios different than Earth forms of the
same gases. The ability to imitate, or reconstruct, a fake lunar rock is ludicrous. Lunar rock samples
are simply composed of too many foreign materials for any scientist to recreate, even for the
government. Moreover, the lunar rocks have been inspected internationally by a myriad of scientists.
As any scientist who observed the rock, they will say the lunar rock has a more consistent composure
of iron oxide (FeO) to manganese oxide (MnO). Rocks from earth may appear similar, but the
composition of Earth rock is far more inconsistent than any lunar rock. Korotev himself says best, It
was easier and cheaper to go to the Moon and bring back some rocks than it would have been to create
all these fascinating features on Earth. Inspected by many and unopposed, the lunar rocks

What Is Ha s Experience In Inside Out And Back Again
Ha s life as a refugee In the novel, Inside out and back again, written by Thanhha Lai is about a 10
year old girl named Ha faces many challenges throughout the war because they were forced to leave
their home. When they, the refugees flee, they are going for safety, avoiding the war, and they go
through so much fear. When refugees find a new home, they face, new people and they try to fit in the
new community or a new culture that they are around now. Refugees feel sad when they are turned
inside out because they had to flee home and they finally feel really happy when they are back again
because they finally found a new home. Ha s life is related to the common refugee experience because
she faced everything that a refugee would go through. Ha s experience is a specific example of the
universal experience because she went through a lot like any other refugee would during a war. When
the refugees flee home, refugees are going for safety, avoiding the war, and they go through so much
fear. When Ha fled her home, she had to walk with her family to go the ship when they were all
sweaty and nasty. When they were going to the ship, they were all sweaty and sour. Based on the
book, Inside out and back again, The author Thanhha Lai talks about how sweaty their backs were
because Ha said when they were going to the ship, all she saw was sweaty backs. Ha probably saw
sweaty backs because it was probably hot when they were walking and They had to move quiet and

The Main Causes And Consequences Of World War II
World War II is the largest and most violent armed conflict in the history of mankind during the year
from 1939 to 1945. World War II is a general war involving multiple major parties like United States
or Germany. It resulted in serious consequences, with massive loss of life and widespread destruction
all over the world. I will explain the reason why World War II broke out using three layers individuals,
state and society, and international system.
There is a quote said by Sir Thomas More: The common folk do not go to war of their own accord, but
are driven by the madness of kings . In World War II, the individual that contributed to the outbreak of
the war is Adolf Hitler, the Nazi leader of Germany. There are some main features in the personality of
Hitler, including disposition to exploit and manipulate others and also a lack of empathy with human.

Axis power also pursued expansionist politics to build up their relative power positions. They
cooperate with each other due to a common interest, which is territorial expansion and foundation of
empires based on military conquest and the overthrown of the post World War I international order.
There are many states in The Axis involving in World War II, however, excluding Germany, I believe

Weed , pot , chronic , sticky icky , and many others, are all nicknames for the widely popular and
intoxicating narcotic known as marijuana. The drug has a history that can be traced as far back as
10,000 BCE. However, it is currently most commonly used to smoke for its mind altering effects. The
narcotic marijuana gives its users a temporary feeling of relaxation, tranquility, and hilarity.
Unfortunately, the disadvantages and potential dangers heavily outweigh the benefits. Our current
marijuana laws and regulations are necessary to keep as it protects the safety, health and future of this

However, unlike tobacco smoke, the cancer causing agents in marijuana are far more potent and
concentrated. Five joints over the course of a week is the equivalent to a packet cigarettes during the
same time period. It is important to understand that by inhaling carcinogens over a long period of time
could result in an extremely high risk of cancer. Inhaling the carcinogens from marijuana smoke
regularly causes respiratory damage and can even cause issues with breathing similar to that of
cigarette smokers. Destruction of lung tissue is a result of exposure to the narcotic over a long period
of time. Cannabis is also detrimental to the male and female reproductive systems. In the case of
males, marijuana causes a decrease in male testosterone levels. Sperm count and structure is affected
when the user is exposed to marijuana regularly. Sperm count is often lowered temporarily because of
marijuana and the drug may even cause alterations to the structure and construction of the sperm. For
females, the drug can harm the menstrual cycle. These effects can create difficulty when trying to
procreate, carry and deliver children. Mothers who have conceived a child and are now pregnant must
refrain from drug use, as mother s who use the narcotic can weaken the unborn child. This can cause
the child to have dramatically larger risks of serious health problems in the future. It is

Equine Nutrition
Equine Nutrition The digestive system of the horse consists of a simple stomach, small intestines,
cecum, large and small colons, rectum and anus. The horse s stomach is comparatively small for its
size. The stomach of an average horse has a holding capacity of about two gallons. This may be the
reason horses eat small but frequent meals. From the stomach food moves to the small intestine, which
is the main site of digestion. The small intestine empties into the cecum. The cecum; along with the
large colon; make up the large intestine. Digestion in the large intestine occurs by action of bacteria

The Problems Of American Schools Essay
Andrew R. Deras Dr. Jide Osikomaiya English 100 8 September 2016 The Most Compelling Problems
In American Schools As we delve back into a new year for students and teachers alike returning to
school to continue with the daily life of academics and learning, we all must be understanding of what
exactly we are sending our peers and children back to. It should be no surprise to most of us that
throughout the years we have seen countless upon countless examples from the news and through
others, that our school system is flawed in some way, shape or form. It is no longer a coincidence that
our students are only achieving 36th from the top in all total curriculum (Arnett). This is also evident
to anyone who may happen to own a T.V. and has been a viewer to these numerous articles describing
these horrible issues we have within schools firsthand (ABC News). Not only that, but schooling can
also be further compromised by politics and law related issues (Ravitch). What my goal for the essay I
am submitting to you is; to give my opinions on the current situation of public schooling in America,
discuss the issues, and back my points I will be presenting, with concrete evidence I have uncovered
in my research. I would like to make it clear that my stance on the current situation is that there is not
only a singular problem with public education, but a number of issues that inhibit students to learn
properly and function as productive members of society. An excellent place to start would

Rapid Eye Movement Research Paper
Up until the 1950s, people believed that nothing happened during sleep and that it was a period of
dormancy during the night. This has been scientifically proven false. Our brains are not dormant
during sleep, they are actually extremely active during the our shut eye time.
Our brains go through different stages of sleep during the night. Some of these stages produce a more
deep sleep than others, meaning it is harder to get woken up at these times.
The different stages are 1, 2, 3, 4, and REM. REM stands for Rapid Eye Movement. The cycle goes in
order during the night, from 1 to REM. After the cycle is done with the REM stage, it repeats and
starts over at stage 1. Half of our time sleeping is spent in stage 2, one fifth is spent in REM sleep, and
the rest of the time is allocated to the other stages. However, for babies, half of the time is spent in
REM sleep. This changes as as we age. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is the stage we enter into right as we are falling asleep, obviously. Sometimes, in stage 1 sleep,
people experience sudden muscle spasms called hypnic myoclonia. This is sometimes experienced if
we have a dream we are falling and hit the ground.
As soon as we enter into stage 2 sleep, the eye movements we had during stage 1 terminate. Brain
waves slow down with occasional burts of rapid waves called sleep spindles.
In stage 3 sleep, brain waves slow down immensley and become very sluggish. These brain waves
released are named delta waves. These waves have a very slow oscillation at a range of anywhere
betwween zero and four Hertz. A combination of these waves and others are produces during stage 3.
By the time we enter stage 4, our brains are producing delta waves only. Stages 3 and 4 combined
together are called deep sleep. In deep sleep, out eye movements stop and it is very hard to get woken
up. If somebody is woken up during stages 3 or 4 sleep, it is often that they will wake up feeling

Settlement House Movement
One important characteristic of the Settlement House Movement is that they wanted to reform existing
social policy and offer services that would help the poor to shake the bonds of poverty and enjoy a
better quality of life. Thus, settlement workers saw the need for a dramatic change in social, health and
reactional services that were offered in slum areas in the large cities (Heinonen and Spearman, 2010,
p. 15). Moreover, the settlement house workers believed that problems people faced were due to
deficiencies of the social structure; not due to character flaw (Course Lecture Notes, PowerPoint

settlement house movement went against the beliefs of the Charity Organization Society because they
believed that charity was a form of social control.

where some clients want decisions made for them. Thus, dealing with a client who lacks self

Government Intervention, Real Gdp, And National Debt From...
Sweden: The Ultimate Elsewhere John Malkovich once, jokingly, stated that utopia means elsewhere .
Sandwiched in between Norway and Finland is that idealized elsewhere , Sweden, with a strong
government and thriving economy. It is not only solidly constructed but stunning to look at, with
beautiful plant life and architecture to match. Sweden is sparsely populated with roughly 9.6 million
people living comparatively good lives (with low crime rates, 18 month long parental leaves, and a
high standard of living). It is famous for its neutral foreign policy and high taxes. In short, Sweden is
the ideal... if not to live in then definitely to visit at least once. In this paper I will analyze Sweden,
examining factors of supply and demand, government intervention, real GDP, and national debt from
an economic perspective. The first factor that I will evaluate is how the Swedish power market has
seen a rightward shift in its supply curve over the last forty years. The Oil Crisis of the 1970s sparked
extensive research into alternative energy sources that would result in a 53.5 percent decrease in oil
dependency between 1970 and 2012 (Energy Use in Sweden). This transition from a finite resource to
its renewable counterpart opened the market for competition in Sweden and, combined with the
inelastic demand for power in a modern nation, increased the quantity available to consumers and
decreased the price. As of right now, green energy cannot be exported very far because it is

Adam Corolla Usc Lecture Essay
Adam Carolla Lecture Paper
One of the basic tenets of life is that greater opportunities will appear to individuals that actively
pursue and know how to recognize them. Since the majority of us do not have the luxury of being
born into wealth or power, the choices that we make ultimately shape our successes in life. Adam
Carolla begins by using examples to highlight the concepts of consistency and residual income. He
explains that it is easier and more useful to understand how to sell something and continue selling it
again and again as opposed to figuring out how to simply make a large amount of money. As a student
that had performed poorly in high school, he worked a variety of jobs including carpet cleaner and
boxing trainer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conversely, Adam Carolla cites an example of negative reinforcement being used as a form of
motivation. He refers to his time working as a carpet cleaner out of high school and the pain he felt
from working a horrible job with people he did not like. Carolla explains that by being miserable at a
bad job, he learned he did not want to continue working at a career that he did not enjoy. Using pain as
a motivating factor, this realization forced Adam to forge a better career path for himself. Another
important aspect of creating opportunities revolves around the concept of doing a job well regardless
of whether you enjoy it or not. In reality, the dream job is not typically the first job, the second job, or
even the third. However, this does not count as an excuse for not performing to the highest capacity at
any level of work. Adam expands, saying that it is crucial to get in the habit of doing things well and
not judge a job because you it feel it might be below you. Doing a job properly and to the fullest
ability demonstrates attention to the detail and is a key indicator of overall job performance to
employers. Experience and knowledge are also key elements that an individual can use to take
advantage of opportunities. In order to obtain chance for advancement, it is imperative to commit the
time to understand all the aspects of a job and acquire the knowledge necessary for when the
opportunity does come. In

Becker, Rachel A. 4 Ways Polar Bears are Dealing with Climate Change. National Geographic, 4
September 2015. Web. Accessed 31 January 2018.
Polar bears are declining in numbers as the sea ice is diminishing. There are fewer than 25,000 polar
bears left in the wild, the population has dropped about 40 percent between 2001 to 2010, from 1,500
to 900 bears. Not only has the number of polar bears decreased, but they have been acting strangely as
their surroundings continue to decrease. The different strategies that polar bears are using to survive
are what s keeping them alive, according to Becker the polar bears are changing their appetite by
eating a species of dolphins that got trapped in the melting ice. Also, the polar bears have started
eating snow geese eggs as a backup source of food. In addition, the bears are starting to spend more
time on the shores during the summertime instead of hibernating. Lastly, the polar bears are so

According to Hassol, these climate changes are being experienced especially intense in the Arctic,
Arctic average temperature has risen at almost twice the rate as the rest of the world in the past few
decades (8). These trends aren t stopping anytime soon. The ongoing increases in concentrations of
greenhouse gases in the earth s atmosphere are causing an acceleration in these climate trends
according to Hassol. Climate change is going to have major impacts on the earth, for example the sea
ice melting. Hassol talks about how this could be seen either positive or negative. For the creatures in
the Arctic like the seals and polar bears, the sea ice melting is very harmful to them. However, the
reduced sea ice could increase marine access for shipping and offshore oil extraction. However, an
increase in those activities would just further complicate the

The Occurrence Of Iron Deficiency Anemia
Nutrition is an essential component in the complex development of infants, mainly because of their
rapid growth in one year. One of the most prevalent nutrition problems among young children in the
United States is iron deficiency anemia.1 Anemia is defined as a reduction below normal in the
number of red blood cells per cubic millimeter in the quantity of hemoglobin, or in the volume of
packed red blood cells per 100 milliliters of blood.1 This reduction occurs when the balance between
blood loss and blood production is disturbed.1 Iron deficiency can be defined as absent bone marrow
iron stores, an increase in hemoglobin concentration of less than 1.0 g/dL after treatment with iron, or
other abnormal values.1 Iron deficiency is found to be more common among low income children and
among African American and Mexican American children.1 The consequences of iron deficiency
anemia include poor cognitive and motor development. The purpose of this paper is to present four
research studies all focusing on the occurrence of iron deficiency anemia in newborns in developing
countries. The first study will focus on the behavior of infants with iron deficiency anemia2 in Costa
Rica. The following study will exhibit anemia in pregnancy3 and the impact on weight and in the
development of anemia in the newborn3 in Brazil. The third study will present the effect of maternal
iron deficiency anemia on the iron store of newborns in Ethiopia.4 Lastly, the fourth study is a

Benefits Of A Gap Year Essay
As students sit impatiently at their desk in the concluding hours of their senior year, there are a million
things that rush through their mind. Most students will suddenly realize that they have no idea what
they will do after high school. A majority will answer by confidently announcing I m going off to
college! . Others, will turn up their nose and declare that they will be staying home to look for a
decent job that has an opportunity for advancement because college is far too expensive. Some will
say that they are going to start looking for a long term job; but in reality, everyone really knows they
are going to live in their parents basement for much longer than agreed. There are millions of
possibilities of what students can do after high school and while everyone gets to make their own
decision, very few will consider the best one; a gap year.
A gap year is a period of time (typically an academic year) in which a student takes a break between
secondary school and a higher education. Taking a gap year has been encouraged in Europe and
Australia for years, whereas in the United States, the idea of taking a gap year didn t become popular
until 2010. In 2010, Australia saw a substantial increase in travel, study, and work abroad programs by
young Americans, and soon came up with a program where anyone the ages from 18 30 years old are
given the opportunity to work, travel, and study in the country for a 12 month period. ( Leisure Travel

The set of archive images that constitute Sultan and Mandel s Evidence, were the culmination of two
years research within an array of government agencies, educational institutions and corporations: from
the Aeronutronic Ford Corporation, Newport Beach to the Veterans Administration Hospital, Palo
Alto. The artists were granted access to millions of photographs within these spaces and therein
embarked on a critical process of appropriation. As Sultan states, Mike and I, through the act of
selection, became authors (BAMPFA, 2012). Throughout the work we are focused on the notion of the
photograph as index: the trace of a footprint on wet paving slabs, a passport photo next to a hand print
in sand. Despite this very specific reference the status of the photograph, as an empiric document, is
continually questioned, not least in the title of the work. The concept of ... Show more content on

the context of the artwork, devoid of the original information structure they once had, they are weird
and fascinating. We are directed to experiments, to physical journeys into the substrata of spaces, into
tunnels, down holes, into freezing basements, inside machines. The focus of an object within some of
the photographs may be intended for post production cropping. However objects are only half isolated
within the confines of the image through the creation of makeshift studio spaces. In this context
participants are absorbed within the confines of their activity, and by implication a system of meaning

A Research On Limb Regeneration
Researchers have been conducting studies that could bring us closer to a breakthrough in regenerative
medicine. Scientifically, regeneration means the process of regrowth of damaged or lost tissue. When
the human body has become fully matured, around the age twenty five human organs, such as the liver
can be regenerated. If any damage is caused to the liver it is capable of regenerating itself, although it
may not fully return to its original state. Our skin can also be classified as undergoing regeneration, as
it is continually being renewed through peeling. Although humans are capable of a small form of
regeneration we are incapable of regenerating complex organs with complete function after surgery or
amputation. With that said, this information has lead me to question whether or not scientific
technology is able to trigger tissue regeneration within the human body? After years of research on
limb regeneration scientist believe that the key to human limb regeneration is held within salamanders.
If a salamander were to lose a tail or leg it would not be a horrible incident because they have the
ability to regenerate their damaged limbs back to its original state. This natural ability of the
salamander has caught the attention of many researchers who are interested in applying regenerative
medicine on human amputees. Before applying any type of regenerative medicine to amputees
researchers need to consider the side affects this could have on humans, as well as if we even

Retirement Financial Planners
Many people would want to know how much money they need to retire. While this is a common
question financial planners such as Scott Storick deal with more frequently, there is usually no
definitive answer. It is not easy to determine how much you need when you retire, and it depends on
many factors and individual financial circumstances. Everyone has a different financial need for their
retirement, and what you may need will mostly likely be different from what other people need.
Nonetheless, while your individual situation may be unique, you can still estimate how much you need
to survive throughout your retirement age.
Here are a few guidelines to help you make a wise decision. Remember that working closely with a

Some people may be looking forward to buy a new house or travel when they retire. Others may be
faced with health conditions that increase their healthcare cost. These are things that will stretch your
retirement financial kit and exhaust it even before long.
Examine your expected income expenses in retirement
It is paramount you examine the projected income expenses you will meet when you retire. You may
want to identify the streams of income you have including the social security, pensions, and bank
savings. Determine whether by the time you retire, you will have paid fully your mortgage or you will
still be paying it off.
Also find out whether you will be making large purchases such as buying a home or moving to
another location. Inflation may still take its toll on your savings, therefore make sure you account for
it. When you use the 80 percent pre retirement income rule and further subject it to these expected
income expenses, you are likely to come up with a more appropriate figure.
In the event that you don t have enough money saved for retirement, you should start planning on how
you will make changes. When it is a few years away from retirement, consider increasing your IRA
and 401k

of happiness after twenty long years. This hero s journey happened over a thousand years ago in the
Ancient Greece. Odysseus and his men sailed across the seas to fight in the Trojan War but, because of

The monster knows none but savage ways and a quote to help my statement is A prodigious man slept

savage ways a brute so huge (580)Homer. The monster archetype can be anything that you fear. The
monster can also be anything that is a bad temptation. A quote from the story to help my thesis is the
sirens who lure sailors to their destruction;the wandering rocks, sea rocks that even destroy seabirds at
flight (580)Homer. The sirens can stand for temptation and temptation is not always good. Sometimes,
monsters can come when you have two decisions and neither one is a good choice but you have to
choose and this is an example of my statement The perils of the sea monster Scylia and nearby, the
whirlpool charybdis (580)Homer. Both decision can be bad but you still have to choose and it will
have consequences. I know a similar situation is with popularity, you do the wrong things to be
popular and get in trouble for it or not do it and be left out. Now do think this was so easy for
Odysseus? He had to have a damsel in distress to save to become the hero, or should I say, damsels in
distress. The damsel in distress archetype is an extra complication added into the story. Odysseus men
got themselves into some serious trouble even though Odysseus warned them.

The Dystopian Novel The Maze Runner
The Dystopian Novel The Maze Runner has a rather dark and cold theme to it, yet some find the story
to be lacking the naturalistic feel that some search for when they read. (We will be using theme by the
verb definition while describing The Maze Runner in this essay.) The Maze Runner has a very tranquil
feel to it and no matter what was happening it didn t feel real. Even as Thomas were being chased by
the Grievers, leaving his dear friend and leader Alby behind hung like some wet clothes out to dry,
some readers were not brought to the edge of one s seat like they expected to be. The way the
characters are written and the way they interact really does not show that they have lived and survived
together in the Glade like the author probably intended. Everyone is so separated, not a close bond in
sight. No one actually has a color of their own other than that of some dingy, off colored green they all
seem to share. All of the characters were pretty static. With the amount of hype everyone made this
book out to be some can only say that they are deeply disappointed at how droll this whole entire book
was.
One of the hardest things in writing is getting the sensations and scenes in your head onto paper good
enough for another person to read and see almost the same thing. It is a challenge, most authors can
attest to that being the case. The problem with The Maze Runner is that no matter how hard the author
tried some readers could not find oneself enraptured by this

Freedom of Speech
Freedom of speech
Freedom of speech is the freedom to speak freely without censorship. The synonymous term freedom
of expression is sometimes used to indicate not only freedom of verbal speech but any act of seeking,
receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used. In practice, the right to
freedom of speech is not absolute in any country and the right is commonly subject to limitations,
such as on hate speech .
The right to freedom of speech is recognized as a human right under Article 19 of the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights and recognized in international human rights law in the International
Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR). The ICCPR recognizes the right to freedom of

However, freedom of the press is not necessarily enabling freedom of speech. Judith Lichtenberg has
outlined conditions in which freedom of the press may constrain freedom of speech, for example
where the media suppresses information or stifles the diversity of voices inherent in freedom of
speech. Lichtenberg argues that freedom of the press is simply a form of property right summed up by
the principle no money, no voice .
Origins and academic freedom
Freedom of speech and expression has a long history that predates modern international human rights
instruments. It is thought that ancient Athens democratic ideology of free speech may have emerged in
the late 6th or early 5th century BC.[12] Two of the most cherished values of the Roman Republic
were freedom of religion and freedom of speech. In Islamic ethics, freedom of speech was first
declared in the Rashidun period by the caliph Umar in the 7th century AD. In the Abbasid Caliphate
period, freedom of speech was also declared by al Hashimi (a cousin of Caliph al Ma mun) in a letter
to one of the religious opponents he was attempting to convert through reason. According to George
Makdisi and Hugh Goddard, the idea of academic freedom in universities was modelled on Islamic
custom as practiced in the medieval Madrasah system from the 9th century. Islamic influence was
certainly discernible in the foundation of the first deliberately planned university in Europe, the
University of Naples Federico II founded by

Every organization is at risk for financial hardship. It takes a strong, dedicated leader to bring a
company out of loss and turn it around. This is what happened at Western Insurance Agency from the
late 1990s to the early 2000s. Stu Henderson, the newly hired CEO at the time, brought the
organization back to success by supporting and engaging stakeholders. This research will highlight all
stakeholders described in the case study Western National Insurance, the actions taken by Henderson
to support and engage Western National Insurance stakeholders, and an evaluation of these actions
using leadership theories. The assessment will consider how successful leaders excel at understanding

specific language techniques that are used in texts were related to better word reading scores.
Examples of such techniques include, greater use of contractions (txt instead of text), g clippings (goin
in place of going), symbols (emoticons plus single characters such as in place of words), letter/number
homophones (2nite), nonconventional spellings (fone), and accent stylization (e.g., elp instead of help)

Deciphering textisms often requires using good linguistic strategies that are good intellectual exercise.
Texters need to be able to pronounce words phonetically when they are not spelled in an orthodox
fashion, reinstate vowels that have been removed in the interest of brevity, or have letters and numbers

Arguments For Banning Books
Throughout time, countless great children s books have been published and then loved by many. To
name a few, Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, Nancy Drew by Carolyn Keene and The Hunger Games by
Suzanne Collins. What do these three books have in common? They were all published as children s
books, then kept out of their hands for numerous reasons. Parents and teachers claimed these books
were unfit for children s reading. They either introduced topics that were not open to them yet or went
against their lifestyle. All around the world, great books are being kept from children for doltish
reasons. They are being censored, then banned from their eyes. Taking this literature from them is
ruining their childhood; it is preventing children from learning about the world and being ready for it.
Censoring in children s books needs to become less harsh or else they are going to grow up in a sealed
world. For years now, censoring has been limiting the public s freedom in literature, films, media, and
plenty of other categories. A big section being censored today, that troubles a lot of people, is children
s literature. Books are the most common thing to be censored, especially children s. They continue to
ban books across the world, meant to be enjoyed, for reasons they call valid. A popular excuse for
banning books is the diversity displayed in them. According to How Banning Books Marginalizes

The New Israeli Nation between 1947-1967 Essay
How was the new Israeli nation able to be born, to survive, and to prosper during the period of 1947
1967 despite being surrounded by hostile states? Introduction One of the biggest mysteries of the 20th
century was the sudden creation of the Jewish state. It had been the dream of almost every Jew to have
their own nation in which they would be free from persecution but its very creation appeared to be
beyond human possibility. Almost 6 million Jews been viciously massacred under the Final Solution

After the brutal anti Jewish pogroms in Russia in the 1880 s, Jews realized that remaining in Europe
would no longer be an option. As a consequence, they decided to create their own nation state. On of
the first Zionist movements (Zionist; meaning advocates of returning to Palestine) was Hoveve Zion
(Lovers of Zion). The movement originated in Russia in the 1880s. It established several Zionist
towns in Palestine. Eventually, in 1893 the World Zionist Organization was founded by a
correspondent of a Viennese newspaper, Theodor Herzl. He published a pamphlet; known as The
Jewish State in which he argued that since Jews were a nationality without land, they must attain land
in order to construct a nation state. (Mitchell, 2001) At the congress in Basel, Switzerland in 1897, the
World Zionist Movement was established whose goal was to create a homeland for the Jewish people.
Jews throughout the world donated 357 million in US dollars in its first year of existence. After
unsuccessful attempts of negotiations with the Uganda and Argentine governments, they decided that
the Jewish homeland would exist in Palestine. An old religious Jewish community known as the Old
Yishuv had survived in Palestine throughout the rule of the Ottoman Empire and had virtually no
conflict with their Arab neighbors (although there were laws which forbade Jews from building
synagogues higher than mosques). In his book, A History of the Israeli Palestinian Conflict, Mark

  • 2. Payment Card Systems Were Breached On September 8th, 2014, Home Depot released a statement indicating that its payment card systems were breached. An investigation had started on September 2nd but they were still trying to discover the actual scope and impact of the breach. Home Depot was one of the many victims to a retail data breach in 2014. The unfortunate thing is the way the attacker s infiltrated the POS networks and how the attackers were able to steal the payment card data, were the same methods used in the Target data breach. By ignoring the warnings created from the breach at Target, Home Depot allowed the attackers to use similar methods that could have been easily defended. Through the use of a third party vendor s logon credentials, the attackers were able to gain access. Then they exploited a zero day vulnerability in Windows, which allowed them to pivot from the vendor specific environment to the Home Depot corporate environment. Since both networks were linked, this was very easy. Once they were in the Home Depot network, they were able install memory scraping malware on over 7,500 self checkout POS terminals. They just put out an update to all the POS machines. Just like any IT shop would do. This malware was able to grab 56 million credit and debit cards. The malware was also able to capture 53 million email addresses. The stolen payment cards were used to put up for sale and bought by carders. The stolen email addresses were helpful in putting together large phishing campaigns. Although ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Closed-Ended Questions This week I compared and contrasted two short one minute YouTube videos of a pretend doctor implementing closed ended questions verse open ended questions. The portrayal shown in the video was comparable to the depiction described in our text closed ended questions that can be answered with one word, and open ended questions...are broad and require more than one or two word answers (Chang, Decker, Scott, 2018). The actor portraying the doctor enters the examine room and states, Jose, I hear you are coming in today because you are sick (Stoddard, 2016)? [Doctor puts hand sanitizer on his hands] Jose responds with a one word yes. The doctor has a question tone but it technically is not a question. The conversations continues in a direct back and forth manner, the doctor asks a question to focus on a particular area and Jose responds with a one word yes or no, never giving Jose an opportunity to explain his symptoms. ... For each of these questions the patient was given the opportunity to elaborate on his responses. Although these videos portray a medical doctor s office, the principles used are pinpointing the questioning skills of those in the human services field. • 4. Instruction Methods For Teaching Decisions I honestly thought that this lesson was going to be taught to teach to the class. I spent countless hours reading the information in the curriculum handbook and even collaborating with other teachers just to understand the material properly. I was thoroughly surprised at how well the lesson was received and it greatly boosted my self confidence in my planning and teaching decisions. This lesson was all about symmetry and dividing crazy cakes evenly between two people by looking for smaller shapes within the larger shape. The shapes of the cakes literally were crazy because they were not shaped like your normal cake. There were many different angles and sides, because of this each student had to really sit and visualize what other shapes were inside the cake. I feel that my instruction methods worked great for this lesson. I followed the plan given to me by the curriculum book by talking about the activity first then letting the students work together in groups to divide the cakes as best as possible. I thought it would be beneficial to let students come up to the board and practice with dividing the cakes before letting them work with their groups. I think that by allowing a few of them to show their initial thought process allowed others to see how they could divide their cakes as well. I then gave direct instructions on how we were to transition to our tables and begin working on their crazy cakes. The classroom has been struggling lately with transitions, so I was very ... Neil Armstrong is seen taking the first steps on the moon forever making his mark in humanity. However, theories surrounding the moon landing have come to light. Conspiracy theorists say NASA, the National Aeronautics Space Administration, have faked the Apollo 11 moon landing. Yet, present evidence can support the authenticity of the moon landing. Evidence such as photos, rock samples, technology, and computer monitoring support the moon landing. The moon landing of 1969 did happen. They differ from Earth rocks in many aspects. The rocks contain a composition unlike the composition of rocks from Earth. Randy L. Korotev of the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences of Washington University in St. Louis gives, Lunar samples show evidence of formation in an extremely dry environment with essentially no free oxygen and little gravity... Lunar rocks and soil contain gases (hydrogen, helium, nitrogen, neon, argon, krypton, and xenon) derived from the solar wind with isotope ratios different than Earth forms of the same gases. The ability to imitate, or reconstruct, a fake lunar rock is ludicrous. Lunar rock samples are simply composed of too many foreign materials for any scientist to recreate, even for the government. Moreover, the lunar rocks have been inspected internationally by a myriad of scientists. As any scientist who observed the rock, they will say the lunar rock has a more consistent composure of iron oxide (FeO) to manganese oxide (MnO). Rocks from earth may appear similar, but the composition of Earth rock is far more inconsistent than any lunar rock. Korotev himself says best, It was easier and cheaper to go to the Moon and bring back some rocks than it would have been to create all these fascinating features on Earth. World War II is a general war involving multiple major parties like United States or Germany. It resulted in serious consequences, with massive loss of life and widespread destruction all over the world. I will explain the reason why World War II broke out using three layers individuals, state and society, and international system. There is a quote said by Sir Thomas More: The common folk do not go to war of their own accord, but are driven by the madness of kings . In World War II, the individual that contributed to the outbreak of the war is Adolf Hitler, the Nazi leader of Germany. There are some main features in the personality of Hitler, including disposition to exploit and manipulate others and also a lack of empathy with human. From the stomach food moves to the small intestine, which is the main site of digestion. The small intestine empties into the cecum. The cecum; along with the large colon; make up the large intestine. Digestion in the large intestine occurs by action of bacteria and protozoa. Deras Dr. Jide Osikomaiya English 100 8 September 2016 The Most Compelling Problems In American Schools As we delve back into a new year for students and teachers alike returning to school to continue with the daily life of academics and learning, we all must be understanding of what exactly we are sending our peers and children back to. It should be no surprise to most of us that throughout the years we have seen countless upon countless examples from the news and through others, that our school system is flawed in some way, shape or form. It is no longer a coincidence that our students are only achieving 36th from the top in all total curriculum (Arnett). This is also evident to anyone who may happen to own a T.V. and has been a viewer to these numerous articles describing these horrible issues we have within schools firsthand (ABC News). Not only that, but schooling can also be further compromised by politics and law related issues (Ravitch). What my goal for the essay I am submitting to you is; to give my opinions on the current situation of public schooling in America, discuss the issues, and back my points I will be presenting, with concrete evidence I have uncovered in my research. I would like to make it clear that my stance on the current situation is that there is not only a singular problem with public education, but a number of issues that inhibit students to learn properly and function as productive members of society. This has been scientifically proven false. Our brains are not dormant during sleep, they are actually extremely active during the our shut eye time. Our brains go through different stages of sleep during the night. Some of these stages produce a more deep sleep than others, meaning it is harder to get woken up at these times. The different stages are 1, 2, 3, 4, and REM. REM stands for Rapid Eye Movement. The cycle goes in order during the night, from 1 to REM. After the cycle is done with the REM stage, it repeats and starts over at stage 1. Half of our time sleeping is spent in stage 2, one fifth is spent in REM sleep, and the rest of the time is allocated to the other stages. However, for babies, half of the time is spent in REM sleep. Since the majority of us do not have the luxury of being born into wealth or power, the choices that we make ultimately shape our successes in life. Adam Carolla begins by using examples to highlight the concepts of consistency and residual income. Conversely, Adam Carolla cites an example of negative reinforcement being used as a form of motivation. He refers to his time working as a carpet cleaner out of high school and the pain he felt from working a horrible job with people he did not like. Carolla explains that by being miserable at a bad job, he learned he did not want to continue working at a career that he did not enjoy. Using pain as a motivating factor, this realization forced Adam to forge a better career path for himself. Another important aspect of creating opportunities revolves around the concept of doing a job well regardless of whether you enjoy it or not. In reality, the dream job is not typically the first job, the second job, or even the third. However, this does not count as an excuse for not performing to the highest capacity at any level of work. Adam expands, saying that it is crucial to get in the habit of doing things well and not judge a job because you it feel it might be below you. Doing a job properly and to the fullest ability demonstrates attention to the detail and is a key indicator of overall job performance to employers. Experience and knowledge are also key elements that an individual can use to take advantage of opportunities. In order to obtain chance for advancement, it is imperative to commit the time to understand all the aspects of a job and acquire the knowledge necessary for when the opportunity does come. In ... • 27. A Research On Limb Regeneration Researchers have been conducting studies that could bring us closer to a breakthrough in regenerative medicine. Scientifically, regeneration means the process of regrowth of damaged or lost tissue. When the human body has become fully matured, around the age twenty five human organs, such as the liver can be regenerated. If any damage is caused to the liver it is capable of regenerating itself, although it may not fully return to its original state. Our skin can also be classified as undergoing regeneration, as it is continually being renewed through peeling. Although humans are capable of a small form of regeneration we are incapable of regenerating complex organs with complete function after surgery or amputation. With that said, this information has lead me to question whether or not scientific technology is able to trigger tissue regeneration within the human body? After years of research on limb regeneration scientist believe that the key to human limb regeneration is held within salamanders. If a salamander were to lose a tail or leg it would not be a horrible incident because they have the ability to regenerate their damaged limbs back to its original state. This natural ability of the salamander has caught the attention of many researchers who are interested in applying regenerative medicine on human amputees. The monster archetype can be anything that you fear. The monster can also be anything that is a bad temptation. A quote from the story to help my thesis is the sirens who lure sailors to their destruction;the wandering rocks, sea rocks that even destroy seabirds at flight (580)Homer. The sirens can stand for temptation and temptation is not always good. Sometimes, monsters can come when you have two decisions and neither one is a good choice but you have to choose and this is an example of my statement The perils of the sea monster Scylia and nearby, the whirlpool charybdis (580)Homer. Both decision can be bad but you still have to choose and it will have consequences. I know a similar situation is with popularity, you do the wrong things to be popular and get in trouble for it or not do it and be left out. Now do think this was so easy for Odysseus? • 30. The Dystopian Novel The Maze Runner The Dystopian Novel The Maze Runner has a rather dark and cold theme to it, yet some find the story to be lacking the naturalistic feel that some search for when they read. (We will be using theme by the verb definition while describing The Maze Runner in this essay.) The Maze Runner has a very tranquil feel to it and no matter what was happening it didn t feel real. Even as Thomas were being chased by the Grievers, leaving his dear friend and leader Alby behind hung like some wet clothes out to dry, some readers were not brought to the edge of one s seat like they expected to be. The way the characters are written and the way they interact really does not show that they have lived and survived together in the Glade like the author probably intended. Everyone is so separated, not a close bond in sight. No one actually has a color of their own other than that of some dingy, off colored green they all seem to share. All of the characters were pretty static. With the amount of hype everyone made this book out to be some can only say that they are deeply disappointed at how droll this whole entire book was. One of the hardest things in writing is getting the sensations and scenes in your head onto paper good enough for another person to read and see almost the same thing. It is a challenge, most authors can attest to that being the case. The problem with The Maze Runner is that no matter how hard the author tried some readers could not find oneself enraptured by this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Judith Lichtenberg has outlined conditions in which freedom of the press may constrain freedom of speech, for example where the media suppresses information or stifles the diversity of voices inherent in freedom of speech. Lichtenberg argues that freedom of the press is simply a form of property right summed up by the principle no money, no voice . Origins and academic freedom Freedom of speech and expression has a long history that predates modern international human rights instruments. It is thought that ancient Athens democratic ideology of free speech may have emerged in the late 6th or early 5th century BC.[12] Two of the most cherished values of the Roman Republic were freedom of religion and freedom of speech. In Islamic ethics, freedom of speech was first declared in the Rashidun period by the caliph Umar in the 7th century AD. In the Abbasid Caliphate period, freedom of speech was also declared by al Hashimi (a cousin of Caliph al Ma mun) in a letter to one of the religious opponents he was attempting to convert through reason. According to George Makdisi and Hugh Goddard, the idea of academic freedom in universities was modelled on Islamic custom as practiced in the medieval Madrasah system from the 9th century. Islamic influence was certainly discernible in the foundation of the first deliberately planned university in Europe, the University of Naples Federico II founded by ... Rowling, Nancy Drew by Carolyn Keene and The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. What do these three books have in common? They were all published as children s books, then kept out of their hands for numerous reasons. Parents and teachers claimed these books were unfit for children s reading. They either introduced topics that were not open to them yet or went against their lifestyle. All around the world, great books are being kept from children for doltish reasons. They are being censored, then banned from their eyes. Taking this literature from them is ruining their childhood; it is preventing children from learning about the world and being ready for it. Censoring in children s books needs to become less harsh or else they are going to grow up in a sealed world. The New Israeli Nation between 1947-1967 Essay How was the new Israeli nation able to be born, to survive, and to prosper during the period of 1947 1967 despite being surrounded by hostile states? Introduction One of the biggest mysteries of the 20th century was the sudden creation of the Jewish state. It had been the dream of almost every Jew to have their own nation in which they would be free from persecution but its very creation appeared to be beyond human possibility. Almost 6 million Jews been viciously massacred under the Final Solution Plan of Nazi Germany and the remaining were dispossessed refugees. As a consequence, they decided to create their own nation state. On of the first Zionist movements (Zionist; meaning advocates of returning to Palestine) was Hoveve Zion (Lovers of Zion). The movement originated in Russia in the 1880s. It established several Zionist towns in Palestine. Eventually, in 1893 the World Zionist Organization was founded by a correspondent of a Viennese newspaper, Theodor Herzl. He published a pamphlet; known as The Jewish State in which he argued that since Jews were a nationality without land, they must attain land in order to construct a nation state. (Mitchell, 2001) At the congress in Basel, Switzerland in 1897, the World Zionist Movement was established whose goal was to create a homeland for the Jewish people. Jews throughout the world donated 357 million in US dollars in its first year of existence. After unsuccessful attempts of negotiations with the Uganda and Argentine governments, they decided that the Jewish homeland would exist in Palestine. An old religious Jewish community known as the Old Yishuv had survived in Palestine throughout the rule of the Ottoman Empire and had virtually no conflict with their Arab neighbors (although there were laws which forbade Jews from building synagogues higher than mosques).
