Name Essays Examples
Crafting an essay on the topic "Name Essays Examples" poses a unique set of challenges that
demand careful consideration and creativity. The difficulty lies in striking a balance between
showcasing diverse examples while maintaining a coherent narrative that is both engaging and
informative. One must navigate through a sea of potential names, ensuring that each example is
not only relevant but also adds value to the overarching theme.
The complexity further intensifies as one delves into the intricacies of personal names, cultural
variations, and the evolution of naming conventions. Research becomes a crucial component, as
the essay must draw from a wide array of sources to present a comprehensive and well-rounded
perspective on the significance of names. Organizing the information coherently is a challenge in
itself, requiring a thoughtful structure that seamlessly weaves together various examples without
losing the reader's interest.
Furthermore, the essay must avoid becoming a mere catalogue of names; it should delve into the
stories behind each, exploring the cultural, historical, or personal contexts that shape their
meanings. This depth adds layers to the narrative but also demands a keen understanding of the
subject matter and the ability to communicate these nuances effectively.
In terms of creativity, finding a unique angle to approach the topic is paramount. With countless
essays on names available, the challenge is to offer a fresh perspective that captivates the
audience. Striking the right tone—whether informative, reflective, or even
humorous—requires a delicate touch, as the essay must resonate with a diverse readership.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Name Essays Examples" necessitates a blend of research,
creativity, and organizational skills. The difficulty lies not only in presenting a variety of
examples but also in weaving them together seamlessly, all while maintaining a captivating and
informative narrative. Despite the challenges, the opportunity to explore the richness and
diversity of names makes the endeavor both rewarding and intellectually stimulating.

Causes Of Rebellion In Catcher In The Rye
The reason teenager has a common rebel to thing is because we are still young
people. Also, we still are learning about how important authority is. Teens look at
their surround and older people are rebel showing other young people that it s
okay to be against authority. They also show youth that it Okays to grow up and
be like them. Teens are like sponge; we soak in everything that we watch every day
and copy it because we think it s okay to be like our role models. Clearly this how I
feel about the reason teenager be rebel to thing and people and rules.
Holden is rebel because he doesn t like authority and he gets kicked out of good
school because of his behavior toward things. Holden stated I m the one flunking
out of the goddamn place. (Salinger, page 28) This Holden has a lot of pain
because he never fully heals from his brother s death and that might cause him a
lot of pain. Holden says I was only thirteen, and they were going to have me
psychoanalyzed and all because I broke all the window in the garage.(Salinger,

Essay On Myasthenia Gravis
Myasthenia Gravis Damage to the neuromuscular junctions is due to an autoimmune
disease called myasthenia graves. The motor end plates, which are located on skeletal
muscles, are affected because there is a decrease in the amount of Ach receptors
located on the motor end plate, which is connected to the neuromuscular junction.
The decrease is due to the unnecessary production of antibodies, which bind to the
motor end plate. This prevents Ach from binding to the receptors to carry out a
synapse between the skeletal muscleand a neuron, leading to a stop or weakening of
muscle contraction. The decrease in the amounts of synapses cause the skeletal
muscle to lose function, become weaker, and tire more easily. Men and women are
both at risk for developing myasthenia gravis, but the disease is more prevalent in
women. However, the age of diagnosis varies. Men typically receive their diagnosis
between the ages of 50 and 60 years old; women are usually diagnosed between the
ages of 20 and 40 years old. There is no known research to conclude if a particular
race is at a higher disadvantage to having... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One type of drug class are anticholinesterase, which inhibits acetylcholine in order to
increase the levels of Ach in the body to bind to functional receptors to increase the
amount of synapses. Corticosteroids and immunosuppresants are other drugs that can
be used to suppress the immune system s attack on the motor end plates. To stop
developing tumors on their thymus, patients might opt to have their thymus removed
by a procedure called a thymectomy. Another procedure that can be done is a
plasmapheresis, which reduces the number of antibodies in the blood so there are
more open receptors for Ach to bind to. However, it is important to know that
treatment varies from patient to patient and no patient is the same with this
The Theory And Factors Affecting Reaction Rates
Chemical Background Hydrogen peroxide is a by product of many reactions that
occur within the body however, it is toxic so needs to be broken down. The equation
for this decomposition is as follows: гЂ–2HгЂ—_2 O_2 в†’ гЂ–2HгЂ—_2 O+ O_2
In the body, this reaction can be catalysed by the enzyme catalase. Catalase is not
removed or used up in this reaction, and speeds up the rate of reaction. It is acting
as a catalyst. The decomposition can be catalysed by other catalysts, however, and
this is the basis of my investigation. By using different catalysts, I can investigate
how the rate of reaction changes with each one and find out if catalase is the best
catalyst for this decomposition. The collision theory and factors affecting reaction
rates For a reaction to take place, two particles must collide with each other so they
come in to contact. However, just colliding with each other does not initiate a
reaction. Something called the activation enthalpy must be overcome. The
activation enthalpy is the minimum (kinetic) energy required by a pair of
molecules that are colliding before a reaction can occur. So, for a reaction to take
place, pairs of molecules must collide with enough energy to equal or overcome the
activation enthalpy. There are several factors that affect the rate of reaction (three of
which I am investigating). The factors are as follows: Concentration of reactants
This factor is explored in more depth in a later section. Temperature this factor is

1981 to 2008, for both men and ladies, a combined specimen t test was led to
analyze the distinctions in mean grown up body mass record (BMI) over the
compass of 10 years. For men, a critical distinction in mean BMI was noted for the
year 1981 to 1990 while for ladies, a noteworthy contrast in mean BMI was

Imaginative Landscape

our ties to our landscape shapes our identity . This piece will appear in an
anthology of student writings on the context Imaginative Landscape published by
VCAA in order to give other VCE students studying imaginative landscape insight
into the ways they can creatively approach a context prompt. The piece is intended
to show the reader that our landscape does shape who we are but what we make of
our experience is what ultimately builds our identity. Life is going to have it ups
and downs. Going through bad times or even good things in life, it doesn t define
you, but what you perceive of it decides whether you grow or shrivel under stress.

Her domestic landscape shapes her. Her connection to her mother makes her a
kinder and appreciative person while her disconnectedness to her father makes her
rebellious but also more resilient. The tone towards her mum is much more
positive and warm while towards her dad it is colder. This shows the difference
that the level of connectedness can make on an individual s identity. I will
compare her story to her cousins, whose father being the older brother of the dad
grew up the same way. His story is however different, he perceives the
disconnectedness as a threat, whereas the girl perceives is a thing that just
happens. Even though living with a similar father figure, the ways that two grow
up is different. She is more optimistic and laidback while the cousin becomes more
timid and afraid of other people. The way she writes about is quite incoherent,
writing anything that pops into her head, symbolising the disconnectedness she has
with her father. However when she talks about her mothers its smoother and
connected. The way she thinks and talk about her father shows the rebellious streak
she has developed. In the second entry, I will discuss the impact that the physical
landscape has on the girl. Every time she visits the lake, over a 6 year period, she
discovers something new about the lake and herself. She begins to connect more over
the years and the lake ends up meaning more
Bacterial Infection Vs Bacteria
There are many difference between a bacterial infection and a viral infection. One
of the bigger differences is that between a virus and bacteria is that an antibiotic
drug will kill bacteria but had no effect on viruses. Many illnesses that are viral
infections a couple of them being a sore throat, flu, cold and a runny noise. Although
bacterial infections illnesses by some bacteriais strep throat, whooping cough, and a
urinary tract infection. One of the bigger differences between viral infections, and
bacterial infections is that viral infections doesn t need medication and most of
these illnesses are like self limiting which means that the human body will fight to
kick in and try to fight off the illness, which this process usually takes some time.
However, with bacterial infections these types of illnesses require for an antibiotic
to be used. The type of antibiotics will be based on what type of infection it is. What
an antibiotic does it that it helps stop the growth of the bacteria or it tries to kill the
bacteria that s already in the human body.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Hitner (2005) the mechanism of action for a viral infection virus
typically live and they replicate the insides of the human body. They are able to insert
their genetic material into the human cells DNA for the virus to reproduce. However
bacterial infections have a different mechanism of action. According to Hitner (2005)
the agents (amphotericin B, ketoconazole, miconazole) these agents bind to the
membranes in the body. Which will produce the change in the cell permeability. In
addition, antibiotics they really don t have any targets in which to attack the virus.
However, in antiviral medications there are vaccines that are specific for
The Necessity to Swap Ethnic Profiling for Behavioral...
Humanity has always strived to become more civilized . Whether it was the
manipulation of fire, the domestication of animals, the invention of electricity or the
exploration of space, the goal has always been to become more advanced than our
predecessors. We think of civilization as the opposite of brutality and we associate
the former with peace and the latter with violence. For this reason, we are unable to
deem a racethat has walked on the moon as a violent race. However, civilization
doesn t abolish violence it simply removes the individual s right to be violent and
bestows it into the hands of a separate entity (like the military). (Lancaster)
Historically, civilization has demonstrated the greatest degree of violence ... Show

For this reason, ethnic profiling should carry less weight in the decision making of
law enforcement agents and in the realm of criminal justice. In turn, the criminal
justice system should promote the use behavioral profiling, a more effective
alternative with a lesser rate of wrongful arrests.
There is no scientific proof that links crime and race. In fact, most psychologists
admit that ethnic profiling is not scientifically reliable. (Boylan) Nevertheless, no
one has attempted to eradicate it until recently. This is because America s
imprisonment rates were not rising at an alarming rate until a couple of decades
ago. Now that hyper incarceration is a problem experts have begun searching for its
root, and ethnic profiling has surfaced as a probable cause of hyper incarceration.
When you analyses the inner workings of racial profiling you find a direct correlation
between the impact of ethnic profiling and the anxiety levels of the population. In
other words, as people become more scared the likelihood that they will perform or
tolerate racial profiling increases.
Fear and violence go hand in hand, and the 50 s and 60 s left America trembling with
fear. During this period we observed the height of the Cold War and the Civil Rights
Movement. Apparently, the threat of communism and the empowerment of blacks
turned out to be a poor combination
Social Stratification Mobility Essay
Social Stratification Mobility
Individuals in today s society are separated by many different factors such as race,
ethnicity, gender, and economic status. Another form of separation is that of
stratification. There are four major systems of stratification slavery, caste, estate, and
class. Social stratification means the differentiation of a given population into
hierarchically superposed classes. (Sorokin, 1964, p. 11) Stratification can either be
in the form of an open or closed system. The closed system is one that allows
minimal to no movement within the system. The open system is just the opposite it
allows for varying degrees of movement throughout the system. There are many ways
to break down the social stratification of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This movement is called social mobility By social mobility is understood any
transition of an individual or social object or value anything that has been created
or modified by human activity from on social position to another. (Sorokin, 1964,
p. 133) This change in class is not always related to money or economic change. In
some cultures an individual may ascertain great wealth in their life time but not be
accepted into a higher class status. On the other hand a person who loses economic
status is still revered as elite. This inability to move from one class to another is
mostly observed in the estate system and the class system. There are two
fundamental ways in which a person can be mobile within society either horizontal or
vertical.
In horizontal mobility individuals make what is considered a lateral move within
society. By horizontal social mobility or shifting, is meant the transition of an
individual or social object from one social group to another situated at the same
level. (Sorokin, 1964, p. 133) This transition can be related to a Horizontal mobility

that of their parent(s). This option of lateral movement does not always require
higher education, political affiliation, or economic status. The individual stays at the
same level of class recognition, but has the option of choosing form a
The Importance Of Religion In The West African Yoruba...
When you think of a religion, what comes to mind? From what I have studied, a
religion is a movement through a group of people that are studying the way of life
and their beliefs. In order to have a religion there needs to be some sort of
understanding or bias of what a group of people believes. In the West African Yoruba
religionthere is a problem and there is a solution, like in any other religion. Because
there is a need that has to be solved through a divine creator, it is most definitely a
religion. In the religion people are faced with with a problem which is the fact that
they don t know the purpose in their life and because of that, they are disconnected
from their destiny. The only way they are able to solve this problem is through a
diviner to obtain the insight to their destiny. Although the Yoruba people
have been
scattered throughout the Americas, due to slavery the religion is still alive today.
According to Bruce Lincoln s definition there is justifiable evidence that this is in
fact a religion because there is discourse, practices, community, and institution
throughout it. As humans we are blessed with this thing called Ayanmo (fate). The
only way we are able to achieve this fate is through the spirit named Olorun. He is a
divine power that has created everything and will aid the followers in their journey to
find their true destiny. It is said in the religion that we are able to spiritually connect
throughout our physical realm (AyГ©) through our thoughts

Mythology in Zora Neale Hurston s Their Eyes Were...
Mythology is a key part of many of Zora Neale Hurston s short stories and novels.
She researched the stories of her home town and many other areas of the world.
Hurston used this knowledge of myths and stories to help her carry them on to later
generations in a form that almost everybody could relate to. Through out all of Zora
Neale Hurston s stories, mythology has been a crucial keystone. Her novel, Their
Eyes Were Watching God, has been influenced by three different ancient myths: the
myths of Ezili Freda, Osirisand Isis, and Aphrodite and Adonis.
Janie s love for nature and turbulent relationships comes from the myth of the Haitian
Goddess of love, Ezili Freda. In the novel the main character, Janie, is deeply
interested in love and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But this relationship is cut short by Adonis getting attacked and castrated by a wild
boar (Stine). Later, Adonis bled to death (Stine). After her first three husbands Janie
finally found a man she could be with, Tea Cake. And going along with the myth of
Aphrodite and Adonis, Janie must stand by and watch as Tea Cake is attacked by an
animal which in Hurston s story was a dog. She ends up having to kill him and
watch him die as did Aphrodite with Adonis.
One of the largest mythological influences on Their Eyes Were Watching God is
the myth of Isis and Osiris. Ishtar is a goddess associated with love and was very
callous with the men that she loved. (Pondrom 181). Ishtar fell in love with a God
by the name of Tammuz and eventually ended up being responsible for his death
(Pondrom 181). She descended into the underworld and was successful in bringing
him back and she lived at peace (Pondrom 181). We see strong parallels to this
myth in Their Eyes Were Watching God. After multiple loveless relationships
Janie fell in love with Tea Cake. She eventually had to kill him because he had rabies.
Later, she was able to restore him to her memory, bringing her peace. Isis and Osiris
were in love, but this relationship did not last long once Osiris was killed (Pondrom
181). Osiris body was sent out on a ship and Isis goes to retrieve the body and is able
to partially restore him (Pondrom 181). Again, a myth with Isis losing her love and
being able to restore them
Symptoms And Symptoms Of Insomnia Essay
As a kid all I would want to do is pull all nighters , now all I want is to actually have
one good night s sleep, or at least half a night s sleep. For those who are completely
oblivious to what insomnia is it is characterized as a persistent lack of sleep, but
those who have insomnia know that it is so much more than just a lack of sleep. For
instance, there are actually different types of insomniathat are categorized by how
long you stay awake, if lack of sleep last less than a week then it is considered
Transient Insomnia, if it last one to three weeks its Short Term Insomnia, and if it
last longer than three weeks it s called Chronic Insomnia. I myself suffer from
insomnia, and my symptoms would usually last one to two weeks so I have Short

demanding I would be tired after school but I knew there was no way I could go to
sleep still and I couldn t understand why.
Sleep is for the weak, at least that s what I would try and tell myself. I wanted to
believe that sleep was not as important as everyone says it is, but that quickly
changed when the lack of sleep I was having was starting to affect my way of daily
living. Around the age of eight or nine my

The Group Of Warrior Women
The group of warrior women known as The Amazons has fascinated people for
centuries with the idea of these women warriors popping up the media we
consume. The first time I heard about these women was when I was reading about
Greek mythology when I was younger. It was amazing to me that the idea of
warrior women was addressed in the myths I was reading. To me the myths were
about usually these buff and quick witted men who were always the ones who were
the central figures of the stories I was reading. I thought these women were amazing
but I only thought of them as fictional characters in the myths. I could never have
dreamed when I was younger that The Amazonsmight be real.
I had no idea when I was younger were based at all on any resemblance of fact
when to me they seemed to only be a fantasy or fictional character put into the
story to move the story along so the main characters could accomplish their goal.
As I found out later in my life the Amazons are most likely way more real than was
previously thought. Theses myths about these amazing warrior women may have
actually been based on fact. I believe that the Amazons were based on fact and not
some myth created to entertain people or teach a lesson. They lived and fought and
were not some wisp of an idea twisted into a myth or only characters in somebody s
mind but were flesh and blood. People today are not the only ones who have been
fascinated with the Amazons. The Amazons were immensely popular with the

so drastically. Taylor Swift s new album 1989 was made in a very different way
apart from the country style Swift has on her past songs. Although she is still singing
about relationships and love songs, this album is a definitely the end to her country
style.
In this new album Everybody here was someone else before, is the first track song
in Swift s album which talks about how everyone is someone fake for the moment or
they turn into something they were not before. This switch in genres has showed a
more mature side of Taylor swift and has made her album specially different ... Show

The first trace of filler, but definitely not the last. Then when the album s lead
single was revealed in August the track song Shake it off , most of us were willing
to play along with its playful, anti hater spirit but the breakdown, in which Swift
tries her hand at schoolyard rapping, gets more and more cringe worthy on every
listen. Memories of a relationship are recalled on wistfully on Wildest Dreams
with a heartbeat rhythm, some wispy production and echoing vocals. Almost
sounding like a track from Lana Del Rey with its eroticism style. Which is not
usually a part of Swift s vocabulary, but she gets tantalizingly close, here, when she
sings no one has to know what we do, his hands are in my hair, his clothes are in
my room. Makes us think about a wilder side of Taylor, something I did not
expected from her. Another Antonoff collaboration, which sounds directly
influenced by the circling beats and spearing guitars of New Order s sublime 1989
single is True Faith. But Swift s regretful lyrics aren t especially engaging, and the
song passes largely without incident or interest. The pre release buzz for 1989 had
this pegged as a potential Katy Perry smack down and while there s definitely beef
here, it s delivered in plastic jerky form instead of prime sirloin. The
Gigli s Grand Theft Auto
Gigli s paper predicted the smash hit video game Grand Theft Auto pretty well
when describing low quality entertainment featuring violence, sexual content,
undesirable role models and lack of diversity . However, I thought much of her
paper is outdated and sees the ideal world through the eyes of her generation. The
Hunger Games (the books and the films) is a vision of the world through the eyes
of our generation. I will use this to address Gigli s concerns about the lack of
quality in and control over modern media. Before I do that, I would like to recap on
four of Gigli s concerns: The decreasing role of traditional sources of influence The
rise of individualism over collective achievement Young people thinking less for
themselves... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our generation is not, and we trust family, friends and even strangers in digital
networks. Our generation does not trust advertising any more. We are most
influenced by each other. We have to make our own decisions. Gigli s paper did
not predict how the Internet would change lives. Young people created Facebook
and YouTube and all of a sudden we were the ones creating the media. When we
want to know what a word means, we look it up straight away on Urban Dictionary.
If the entry is not there, we create it. Katniss in the Hunger Games faced many
dangerous situations but the children did work together they shared information
and food. They cared for each other even though they knew that would have to kill
or be killed in the end. We look to our peers, not authority, for advice. The Hunger
Games is a very uplifting portrayal of youth. It is also very violent, disturbing and
disrespectful of authority. It echoes the way we use new media we don t trust, but
we share with others and learn from their experience. Gigli is overall wrong: yes,
there is a total lack of quality control now in media, but it works in the same way the
brain works. We belong to neural networks that provide uswith experience and advice
from there we make our own decisions. The society that Gigli feared was not being
protected has changed. Values she thought were important are not as useful
Verizon Wireless s Benefits Package
Verizon Wireless may be losing at least one competitive advantage as a result of
lack of knowledge about how employee benefits packages in the wireless industry
compare. Studies have shown that valuable employees and top talent candidates are
highly influenced by employee benefits packages considered to be good (Paterson,
2013). The leadership team s determination and call for organizational growth,
translates to both retaining current employees and enticing new candidates to join, an
area in which a top employee benefits package is a major contributor. With this
consideration, and factoring in the problem of a lack of updated information, it was
determined that there was a critical need for a current benefits package comparison.

John Steinbeck Juxtaposition
In John Steinbeck s 1947 novella entitled The Pearl, Steinbeck employs his mastery in
the usage of literary devices to intentionally to convey a theme, one that notes how
before one rushes into a supposedly better life, they first must consider both
consequences that will arise from the scenario and how the previous lifestyle may
still offer greater advantages to their person. Steinbeck often uses imagery through the
vivd descriptions found in his writing, but such imagery is occasionally often just a
stepping stone towards a much more consequential literary device: juxtaposition.
Using juxtaposition, Steinbeck manages to craft elaborate, dramatically contrasting
lifestyles, settings, and even characteristics between those of different social... Show

For instance, as Kino and his procession of villagers head towards the house of the
illustrious doctor, Steinbeck states, They came to the place where the brush
houses stopped and the city of stone and plaster began, the city of harsh outer
walls... (8). Obviously, imagery that shows the superiority of the upper class from
the lower class is present, but a far more important item to partake from this quote
is Steinbeck s remarkable juxtaposition between the houses of brush and those of
stone and plaster. Also, symbolism is converyed through the philosophy that the
town maintains harsh, rigid outer walls, meaning that the town contains a defined
population of a certain social class, not a population easily permeable by those
who face abject poverty yet still work much more strenously. The constructive use
of all these different types of literary devices combine to show the legitimacy of the
theme which he is attempting to convey: that one who attempts to break his bonds
from his lifestyle must carefully consider such a complex decision thoroughly.
Kino, who attains the pearl the day after this dramatic episode takes place, is eager
to shed his skin of poverty, heal his son, and then begin a new life as a rich man,
one who is freed from ignorance by knownledge he imagines his son will partake to

A Predetermined Fate The Tragedy of Julius Caesar by...
The Tragedy of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare depicts the dictatorship of a
powerful Roman emperor in 44 B.C. This play consists of various elements some of
which are historical events, people and places, which disclose the conspiracy to
overthrow Julius Caesar. The fates of the characters are predetermined although they
attempt to avoid and ultimately change their own fate, which attributes to the
humanity each character possesses giving a predetermined fate that is unavoidable
and uncontrollable. Individual perception of omens and superstitions controls
characters fates. The omens and superstitions shown throughout the novel ultimately
determine a person s fate which can be tied directly to Julius Caesar. Caesar s neglect
of other people s warnings and omens leads to his demise. One example of this is
that he ignores a soothsayers warning to Beware the ides of March (line 1.2.21).
Caesar does not take this superstition seriously, as his arrogance forbids him to see
his fate and ultimately leads to his impending doom. Other examples can be shown
in Caesar s misinterpretation of the priest s reading, Caesar orders the priests to
present a sacrifice to the gods and inform Caesar of the outcome, which they did not
find a heart within the beast (2.2.43). Caesar disregards the outcome of the sacrifice,
chooses not to stay at home, and ultimately asserts his own fate of death. After Caesar
dies, Antony declares the fate of his enemies and seeks for revenge. As Antony
Analysis Of Cyan s Sunridge Chestnut
Blaze Cyan is a detailed printmaker who works in etching. His artwork beautifully
discovers the intricate beauty of the tree. Starting out by sketching with technical
pens and watercolors, Cyan reworks his pieces until he is able to make them unique.
He uses old photographs to create the artwork, to inspire his imagination and to create
new possibilities. Using the structure, shape, and texture of trees, he creates an image
with unity and diversity. Beginning with the sugar lift and aquatint method, Cyan
creates a backdrop that varies in value in the tree. After etching the first time, hard
opaque ground covers the plate, which allows Cyan to create numerous linework.
Cyan uses black and white in his pieces to emphasize the complex design and add a
impressive quality to his work. Sunridge Chesnut created in 2011, is one of Cyan s...

His desire is for the viewer to appreciate not only the tree form itself, but also it s
character. Inspiration for creating his pieces come from Victorian illustrators and
oriental prints. By looking at these resources, Cyan came to the realization that no
two will ever be alike. Each piece has unique diversity that sets the individual
artwork apart. Sunridge Chestnut illustrates this idea beautifully as lines are used
in different directions and the tree takes on almost a new shape of its own. One
can look at this piece for hours on end, without truly discovering the full artwork in
its totality. Cyan really desires the audience to almost be lost within the picture,
continuing to look for new additions. In Hallowed Etching, Cyan uses multiple
shapes and values to support this idea. One reason why Cyan picked trees as
subject matter was because its growth is gradual over time. Even at the end of
human life, a tree will (most likely) still be in place, calmly growing. The character
of every tree evolves into something stronger, deeper, and represents a ideal that is

surprise considering this was a weight trainingclass, but I m not complaining. Using

First winning the competition in 1999 and ending his streak in 2005. Armstrong

his fight against cancer. He seemed like the ideal athlete, humble, caring, and
compassionate. Armstrong also founded his own organization for the battle against
cancer, currently known as LiveStrong. Armstrong had everything going for him that
is until he was involved in a major scandal. In 2013 Armstrong admitted to using
blood doping and other illegal banned drugs to help him win Tour de France
throughout the years. The media went bizarre on hearing the news, and everything
went downhill for him. Armstrong was erased from the history books for having the
longest consecutive winning streak in Tour de France. All his winner s medals and

illegal substances, bribery, and many others. Not only is corruption found in

has changed the sports industry, creating an unfair and unloyal sense of competition
within different professional sports. It is presented in different forms today, and

Argumentative Essay On Confederate Flag
The Confederate flag has been around since 1861, as a symbol of endless war, and
detestation towards African Americans. Today, 154 years later, some states still
incorporate the confederate flag into their state flags. The Confederate flag does
not show progression in history, rather it is offensive to many groups and should
be put to rest, because it does not promote unity in America. The Confederate flag
holds America back and keeps our country stuck in the past. Today the Confederate
Flag is still incorporated into five state flags. Those states are, Alabama, Arkansas,
Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi. The Confederate flag is still currently flying over
South Carolina s capital, Columbia, because of a state law. This law is known as

Battle of Manassas. Confederate soldiers had trouble distinguishing which troops
were carrying the American flag and which were hoisting what was then the flag of
the rebellious Southern states. In order to resolve this problem the Confederate Flag
was created, to avoid this confusion. During the Civil War, the Confederate Flag
stood for war, conflict, and southern pride. Today one in ten Americans have a

Doris Lessing Essay
This is a literature analysis and in depth exploration into the life of the great author
and Nobel Prize winner, Doris Lessing. In an interesting journey that shows how
her early childhood affected her, we see how she was conditioned to feel the way
she did about social injustice. As a young girl her experiences growing up white in
an African dominated land that was actually ruled unfairly by the white majority,
shaped her as an advocate. . The way her mother raised her, not only showed her how
marriage at that time was male dominated, but it also completely turned her against
the typical housewife and motherly role. She published her first novelin 1950 that
deeply dived into social injustice and racism. She was criticized harshly by many...

Lessing was put in a rigidly strict convent school, where she was constantly terrified
into obedience with tall tales of hell and eternal damnation by fire. She was later
shipped off to an all girls high school in Salisbury, Zimbabwe s capital and most
populated city. Shortly after arriving, at the tender age of 13, Lessing dropped out
school and promptly ended her formal education. Lessing ordered books from
London that not only helped her to self educate but it also expanded her imagination.
Her early reading included Dickens, Stevenson, and Kipling. Lessing accepted a job
as Nursemaid, and left home at 15 to escape her mother. During that time she also
wrote short stories, two of them got sold and published by magazines in South Africa.
In 1937 she moved to Salisbury and met Frank Wisdom, whom she married and had

The facility has not had to euthanize a healthy dog due to lack of space for several
years. Programs have been developed such as the special needs fund, which allows
for expensive medical treatment, rehabilitation, and adoption for many dogs who
may not of had that opportunity in previous years. However, cats provide additional
challenges due to overpopulation issues. Last year approximately 800 treatable
rehabilitable/manageable cats had to be euthanized. However, programs such as the

Essay on Parfit, the Reductionist View, and Moral
Commitment
Parfit, the Reductionist View, and Moral Commitment
ABSTRACT: In Reasons and Persons, Derek Parfit argues for a Reductionist View of
personal identity. According to a Reductionist, persons are nothing over and above
the existence of certain mental and/or physical states and their various relations.
Given this, Parfit believes that facts about personal identity just consist in more
particular facts concerning psychological continuity and/or connectedness, and thus
that personal identity can be reduced to this continuity and/or connectedness. Parfit is
aware that his view of personal identity is contrary to what many people ordinarily
think about persons, and thus if his view is correct, many of us have false beliefs
about personal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Given this, Parfit believes that it follows that the fact of a person s identity over time
just consists in the holding of more particular facts. (2) Parfit provides further
arguments to show that the facts in question concern psychological continuity and/or
connectedness, and thus that personal identity can be reduced to this psychological
continuity and/or connectedness. This is what Parfit terms the Psychological
Criterion for personal identity. Further, since personal identity just consists in this
psychological continuity when it takes a non branching, or one one form, personal
identity is, as Parfit puts it, not what matters. What does matter is the psychological
continuity and connectedness, what Parfit terms Relation R.
Parfit realizes that his view on personal identity is contrary to what many people
ordinarily believe concerning the nature of persons. Parfit thus notes that even if we
are not aware of this, most of us our Non Reductionists. It thus follows that most of us
have false beliefs about our own nature, and our identity over time. (3) Further, Parfit
thinks that
The New Terrain And Distance Viewing
Now, I will give some commentary from my experiences playing alpha 15. As I
had mentioned, in my previous article, I rather like the new terrain and distance
viewing. I am indeed excited about the new possibilities it offers for building things
(as I rather like to construct buildings and make my own small towns). I have begun
to explore the buildings possibilities, which I will get into later.
The dynamic of progression for production has changed. The change in the steel
perk, the increased number of things which need the work bench to craft them, the
new components, and the new things to craft have changed things. It used to be
that I could get the steel perk so easily that I could basically skip iron crafting
versions of things, and go straight to steel axes, and steel picks. I cannot do that
anymore. Now the requirements for getting steel make it so that I have to use iron
tools for a significant period of time before I can get the ability to craft their steel
versions. This, in addition to the items requiring mechanical and electrical parts give
the game a more staged progression. Now there are more rather distinct stages before
getting to the best stuff. This adds a new dimension of fun and challenge to it.
Though I would give some tips for trying to get to the steel production level. Invest
early on in resource collection and building stuff. The steel perks need a certain level
in construction and tool skills in order for you to purchase them. Also, building stuff

Not many people know that a spa has a variety of beneficial health effects
attributed to it. Spa centers date back to thousands of years ago being more
popular among the Romans. A spa was mostly used for medicinal purposes in the
past but has gained popularity in recent times for being more associated with
beauty. A spa typically incorporates various procedures like, body scrubs, facials,
and massages in order to provide the ultimate all round relief to the body. Spas have
evolved throughout the years by adding various features to their structures so as to
provide the optimum experience one can get.
A spa center is simply referred to as a venue whereby, professional services are
offered in order to provide a well being to the body and mind of an individual. A lot
of factors are put into consideration when it comes owning a spa. Due to cut throat
competition, spa centers have come up with innovative ways to attract more
customers. Personal trainers and yoga classes have become a favorite among the
ever growing clientele. They have become a safe haven for most women while at
the same time offering some kind of therapy. Going to the spa has become a
common phenomenon especially among women as it is seen as a break away from
family life.
There are many features that are contained in a spa center. The most common being a
sauna, steam bath, salon, massage rooms, and a fitness center. These

Forms of Business Ownership
Forms of Ownership There are a number of forms of ownership that the business
can take. The main forms are sole proprietorship, partnership, Limited Liability
Corporation, corporation and S corporation. There are advantages and
disadvantages to each of these forms that will be discussed in this section. A sole
proprietorship essentially has the person as the business. In this situation, the
proprietor bears all of the risk involved in the business. Business income flows
through to the proprietor s personal taxes. For some individuals there are tax
advantages, but for many the appeal of the sole proprietorship is its simplicity. The
IRS defines a partnership as a relationship existing between two or more
individuals who joint to carry on a business. Partners divide income according to
their own agreement and that income flows through to their personal taxes.
Partners also have a high level of liability for any legal action that befalls the
company. Corporations are a different type of business. They are more complex to
start because more paperwork is involved and the corporation generally has to be
registered at the state level. An ordinary corporation is formed through the articles of
incorporation. These corporations are legal entities, and therefore bear legal
responsibility. The shareholders of the corporation do not bear legal liability. In
addition, corporate income is taxed differently it does not flow through to the owner s
personal income tax statements. The
Main Reasons For The Fall Of Rome Essay
Julius Caesar once said, It is easier to find men who will volunteer to die, than to
find those who are willing to endure pain with patience. The Ancient Roman
Empire was one of the world s greatest empires. Beginning in around 750 BCE with
a small settlement no one knew it would become a great empire making many
discoveries that we still live by today. Although the empire was strong they started
to run into some problems. Starting in 44 BCE with Caesar becoming emperor and
continuing into 500 CE, the city was declining fast. Although some researchers
may say that natural disasters were the main reason for the decline of Rome,
however the primary reasons for the decline of Rome were political corruption and
military mistakes. Political corruption was a main reason for the fall of Rome
because there were higher class people trying to take all the power which made
many people unhappy causing assassinations and unfairness. Military mistakes
were also a big problem because the military was too lazy to fight causing invasions
and unnecessary deaths. To begin with, political corruption was a major reason
leading to the fall of Rome. Leaders were jealous, selfish, and unfair to the poor.
Document E, an excerpt of a historical text by Priscus states, A wealthy
lawbreaker... is not punished for his injustice, while a poor man... undergoes the
legal penalty. This quote shows that because a man is wealthier than another and
can pay a bribe he gets off easy for a crime while a poor

  • 3. Essay On Myasthenia Gravis Myasthenia Gravis Damage to the neuromuscular junctions is due to an autoimmune disease called myasthenia graves. The motor end plates, which are located on skeletal muscles, are affected because there is a decrease in the amount of Ach receptors located on the motor end plate, which is connected to the neuromuscular junction. The decrease is due to the unnecessary production of antibodies, which bind to the motor end plate. This prevents Ach from binding to the receptors to carry out a synapse between the skeletal muscleand a neuron, leading to a stop or weakening of muscle contraction. The decrease in the amounts of synapses cause the skeletal muscle to lose function, become weaker, and tire more easily. Men and women are both at risk for developing myasthenia gravis, but the disease is more prevalent in women. However, the age of diagnosis varies. Men typically receive their diagnosis between the ages of 50 and 60 years old; women are usually diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 40 years old. There is no known research to conclude if a particular race is at a higher disadvantage to having... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One type of drug class are anticholinesterase, which inhibits acetylcholine in order to increase the levels of Ach in the body to bind to functional receptors to increase the amount of synapses. Corticosteroids and immunosuppresants are other drugs that can be used to suppress the immune system s attack on the motor end plates. To stop developing tumors on their thymus, patients might opt to have their thymus removed by a procedure called a thymectomy. Another procedure that can be done is a plasmapheresis, which reduces the number of antibodies in the blood so there are more open receptors for Ach to bind to. However, it is important to know that treatment varies from patient to patient and no patient is the same with this
  • 4. The Theory And Factors Affecting Reaction Rates Chemical Background Hydrogen peroxide is a by product of many reactions that occur within the body however, it is toxic so needs to be broken down. The equation for this decomposition is as follows: гЂ–2HгЂ—_2 O_2 в†’ гЂ–2HгЂ—_2 O+ O_2 In the body, this reaction can be catalysed by the enzyme catalase. Catalase is not removed or used up in this reaction, and speeds up the rate of reaction. It is acting as a catalyst. The decomposition can be catalysed by other catalysts, however, and this is the basis of my investigation. By using different catalysts, I can investigate how the rate of reaction changes with each one and find out if catalase is the best catalyst for this decomposition. The collision theory and factors affecting reaction rates For a reaction to take place, two particles must collide with each other so they come in to contact. However, just colliding with each other does not initiate a reaction. Something called the activation enthalpy must be overcome. The activation enthalpy is the minimum (kinetic) energy required by a pair of molecules that are colliding before a reaction can occur. So, for a reaction to take place, pairs of molecules must collide with enough energy to equal or overcome the activation enthalpy. There are several factors that affect the rate of reaction (three of which I am investigating). The factors are as follows: Concentration of reactants This factor is explored in more depth in a later section. Temperature this factor is explored in

The piece is intended to show the reader that our landscape does shape who we are but what we make of our experience is what ultimately builds our identity. Life is going to have it ups and downs. I will compare her story to her cousins, whose father being the older brother of the dad grew up the same way. His story is however different, he perceives the disconnectedness as a threat, whereas the girl perceives is a thing that just happens. Even though living with a similar father figure, the ways that two grow up is different. She is more optimistic and laidback while the cousin becomes more timid and afraid of other people. The way she writes about is quite incoherent, writing anything that pops into her head, symbolising the disconnectedness she has with her father. However when she talks about her mothers its smoother and connected. The way she thinks and talk about her father shows the rebellious streak she has developed. Whether it was the manipulation of fire, the domestication of animals, the invention of electricity or the exploration of space, the goal has always been to become more advanced than our predecessors. We think of civilization as the opposite of brutality and we associate the former with peace and the latter with violence. For this reason, we are unable to deem a racethat has walked on the moon as a violent race. Social Stratification Mobility Essay Social Stratification Mobility Individuals in today s society are separated by many different factors such as race, ethnicity, gender, and economic status. Another form of separation is that of stratification. There are four major systems of stratification slavery, caste, estate, and class. Social stratification means the differentiation of a given population into hierarchically superposed classes. (Sorokin, 1964, p. 11) Stratification can either be in the form of an open or closed system. The closed system is one that allows minimal to no movement within the system. In some cultures an individual may ascertain great wealth in their life time but not be accepted into a higher class status. On the other hand a person who loses economic status is still revered as elite. This inability to move from one class to another is mostly observed in the estate system and the class system. From what I have studied, a religion is a movement through a group of people that are studying the way of life and their beliefs. In order to have a religion there needs to be some sort of understanding or bias of what a group of people believes. In the West African Yoruba religionthere is a problem and there is a solution, like in any other religion. Because there is a need that has to be solved through a divine creator, it is most definitely a religion. In the religion people are faced with with a problem which is the fact that they don t know the purpose in their life and because of that, they are disconnected from their destiny. The only way they are able to solve this problem is through a diviner to obtain the insight to their destiny. Although the Yoruba people have been scattered throughout the Americas, due to slavery the religion is still alive today. According to Bruce Lincoln s definition there is justifiable evidence that this is in fact a religion because there is discourse, practices, community, and institution throughout it. As humans we are blessed with this thing called Ayanmo (fate). The only way we are able to achieve this fate is through the spirit named Olorun. He is a divine power that has created everything and will aid the followers in their journey to find their true destiny. She researched the stories of her home town and many other areas of the world. Hurston used this knowledge of myths and stories to help her carry them on to later generations in a form that almost everybody could relate to. Through out all of Zora Neale Hurston s stories, mythology has been a crucial keystone. Her novel, Their Eyes Were Watching God, has been influenced by three different ancient myths: the myths of Ezili Freda, Osirisand Isis, and Aphrodite and Adonis. Janie s love for nature and turbulent relationships comes from the myth of the Haitian Goddess of love, Ezili Freda. In the novel the main character, Janie, is deeply interested in love and ... She ends up having to kill him and watch him die as did Aphrodite with Adonis. One of the largest mythological influences on Their Eyes Were Watching God is the myth of Isis and Osiris. Ishtar is a goddess associated with love and was very callous with the men that she loved. (Pondrom 181). Ishtar fell in love with a God by the name of Tammuz and eventually ended up being responsible for his death (Pondrom 181). She descended into the underworld and was successful in bringing him back and she lived at peace (Pondrom 181). We see strong parallels to this myth in Their Eyes Were Watching God. After multiple loveless relationships Janie fell in love with Tea Cake. She eventually had to kill him because he had rabies. Later, she was able to restore him to her memory, bringing her peace. Isis and Osiris were in love, but this relationship did not last long once Osiris was killed (Pondrom 181). Taking this class is like a preview of a gym membership and I m glad I took it. I m was very unfamiliar with gym equipment and weight resistance machines, however by the first week I was already use to most of the gym equipment that was available. Not only did I get use to the weight resistance machines, I also, unexpectedly, learned about the cardio machines which was a surprise considering this was a weight trainingclass, but I m not complaining. Using the cardio machines is a nice change of

  • 29. Argumentative Essay On Confederate Flag The Confederate flag has been around since 1861, as a symbol of endless war, and detestation towards African Americans. Today, 154 years later, some states still incorporate the confederate flag into their state flags. The Confederate flag does not show progression in history, rather it is offensive to many groups and should be put to rest, because it does not promote unity in America. The Confederate flag holds America back and keeps our country stuck in the past. Today the Confederate Flag is still incorporated into five state flags. Those states are, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi. The Confederate flag is still currently flying over South Carolina s capital, Columbia, because of a state law. This law is known as The South Carolina Heritage Act of 2000. • 30. Doris Lessing Essay This is a literature analysis and in depth exploration into the life of the great author and Nobel Prize winner, Doris Lessing. In an interesting journey that shows how her early childhood affected her, we see how she was conditioned to feel the way she did about social injustice. As a young girl her experiences growing up white in an African dominated land that was actually ruled unfairly by the white majority, shaped her as an advocate. . The way her mother raised her, not only showed her how marriage at that time was male dominated, but it also completely turned her against the typical housewife and motherly role. Programs have been developed such as the special needs fund, which allows for expensive medical treatment, rehabilitation, and adoption for many dogs who may not of had that opportunity in previous years. However, cats provide additional challenges due to overpopulation issues. Last year approximately 800 treatable rehabilitable/manageable cats had to be euthanized. However, programs such as the trap/neuter/release program, foster care in private homes, PetSmart and veterinary clinic housing/adoptions, and free cat adoption incentives greatly reduced the overwhelming difficulties with housing/adopting cats (Nebraska Humane Society, 2014). When stray animals are found, they are kept in specialized kennels for 3 5 days. After the mandated time, if no one has claimed the animal then they are placed in the adoption program. There is no time limit for an animal to be adopted, and NHS even provides obedience training to pets in the adoption program. Essay on Parfit, the Reductionist View, and Moral Commitment Parfit, the Reductionist View, and Moral Commitment ABSTRACT: In Reasons and Persons, Derek Parfit argues for a Reductionist View of personal identity. According to a Reductionist, persons are nothing over and above the existence of certain mental and/or physical states and their various relations. Given this, Parfit believes that facts about personal identity just consist in more particular facts concerning psychological continuity and/or connectedness, and thus that personal identity can be reduced to this continuity and/or connectedness. Parfit is aware that his view of personal identity is contrary to what many people ordinarily think about persons, and thus if his view is correct, many of us have false beliefs about personal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Given this, Parfit believes that it follows that the fact of a person s identity over time just consists in the holding of more particular facts. (2) Parfit provides further arguments to show that the facts in question concern psychological continuity and/or connectedness, and thus that personal identity can be reduced to this psychological continuity and/or connectedness. This is what Parfit terms the Psychological Criterion for personal identity. Further, since personal identity just consists in this psychological continuity when it takes a non branching, or one one form, personal identity is, as Parfit puts it, not what matters. What does matter is the psychological continuity and connectedness, what Parfit terms Relation R. Parfit realizes that his view on personal identity is contrary to what many people ordinarily believe concerning the nature of persons. Parfit thus notes that even if we are not aware of this, most of us our Non Reductionists. It thus follows that most of us have false beliefs about our own nature, and our identity over time. As I had mentioned, in my previous article, I rather like the new terrain and distance viewing. I am indeed excited about the new possibilities it offers for building things (as I rather like to construct buildings and make my own small towns). I have begun to explore the buildings possibilities, which I will get into later. The dynamic of progression for production has changed. The change in the steel perk, the increased number of things which need the work bench to craft them, the new components, and the new things to craft have changed things. It used to be that I could get the steel perk so easily that I could basically skip iron crafting versions of things, and go straight to steel axes, and steel picks. I cannot do that anymore. Now the requirements for getting steel make it so that I have to use iron tools for a significant period of time before I can get the ability to craft their steel versions. This, in addition to the items requiring mechanical and electrical parts give the game a more staged progression. Now there are more rather distinct stages before getting to the best stuff. This adds a new dimension of fun and challenge to it. Though I would give some tips for trying to get to the steel production level. Invest early on in resource collection and building stuff. The steel perks need a certain level in construction and tool skills in order for you to purchase them. Also, building stuff

The main forms are sole proprietorship, partnership, Limited Liability Corporation, corporation and S corporation. There are advantages and disadvantages to each of these forms that will be discussed in this section. A sole proprietorship essentially has the person as the business. In this situation, the proprietor bears all of the risk involved in the business. Business income flows through to the proprietor s personal taxes. For some individuals there are tax advantages, but for many the appeal of the sole proprietorship is its simplicity. The IRS defines a partnership as a relationship existing between two or more individuals who joint to carry on a business. Partners divide income according to their own agreement and that income flows through to their personal taxes. Partners also have a high level of liability for any legal action that befalls the company. Corporations are a different type of business. An ordinary corporation is formed through the articles of incorporation. These corporations are legal entities, and therefore bear legal responsibility. The shareholders of the corporation do not bear legal liability. In addition, corporate income is taxed differently it does not flow through to the owner s personal income tax statements. The
  • 41. Main Reasons For The Fall Of Rome Essay Julius Caesar once said, It is easier to find men who will volunteer to die, than to find those who are willing to endure pain with patience. The Ancient Roman Empire was one of the world s greatest empires. Beginning in around 750 BCE with a small settlement no one knew it would become a great empire making many discoveries that we still live by today. Although the empire was strong they started to run into some problems. Starting in 44 BCE with Caesar becoming emperor and continuing into 500 CE, the city was declining fast. Although some researchers may say that natural disasters were the main reason for the decline of Rome, however the primary reasons for the decline of Rome were political corruption and military mistakes. Political corruption was a main reason for the fall of Rome because there were higher class people trying to take all the power which made many people unhappy causing assassinations and unfairness. Military mistakes were also a big problem because the military was too lazy to fight causing invasions and unnecessary deaths. To begin with, political corruption was a major reason leading to the fall of Rome. Leaders were jealous, selfish, and unfair to the poor. Document E, an excerpt of a historical text by Priscus states, A wealthy lawbreaker... is not punished for his injustice, while a poor man... undergoes the legal penalty. This quote shows that because a man is wealthier than another and can pay a bribe he gets off easy for a crime while a poor
