with her dead body (244). This lusting over a dead body is very disturbing to many
readers for two different reasons. The first of these reasons is the fact that a
celibate priest is having these sexual attractions towards a woman. A priest, one of
the holiest men of God should be able to control his ungodly desires if anyone can.
The second reason for this disturbance is the face that he is lusting over the body of
a dead woman. Although we find out later that she has been dead all along, not just
in her chamber, the idea of necrophilia is a very disturbing concept to most people.
After she is found not to be dead, Romauld continuously wonders what would have
happened if he was not a priest. Would they be lovers? Would they be married? Or
would they even be together at all? This questioning of his life s choices is very
similar his previous thoughts of renouncing God and these thoughts appear to
continue to arise throughout the story which makes the reader wonder if this many is

Course History International and Global Studies INTL1100 This is one of the
best classes to take to prepare for the IQP, which is why I took it. I have Professor
Hansen, and he was great to have because he is very knowledgeable in the IQP
processes. I learned about different cultures, governments, finances, and most
importantly, how to learn a society, and make beneficial changes to it. This skill

classical radio for the 3 4 pm hour of classical music. The radio host was Gigi
Yellen who was very knowledgeable about the pieces she had in the playlist for that
afternoon. In between pieces she would usually make a comment or two about some
extra musical fact regarding the piece or composer. It was very interesting and I

USE OF NANOMATERIALS IN CIVIL ENGINEERING A REVIEW
Abstract
Recently, the use of nanomaterials is increasing day by day in the various fields such
as biomedicine, automobile, electronics, robotics, construction industry etc. This is
mainly because of unique mechanical, chemical, electronic and optical properties of
nanomaterials. Particularly, construction industry may possibly be one of the chief
beneficiaries of these materials, because the properties of concrete, steel, glass and
other building materials will improve with the applications of nanomaterials.
Therefore, the potential use of nanomaterials such as carbon nanotubes, Cu
nanoparticles, Ag nanoparticles, TiO2, SiO2, Al2O3, ZrO2, and Fe2O3 nano oxides
for enhancing the mechanical strengths and durability of concrete have been explored
in the current study. It has been observed that the addition of nanomaterials would
improve the corrosion resistance, abrasion resistance, compressive strength, tensile
strength, flexural strength etc. of cementitious composites. However, the exact
mechanism responsible for improvement in the characteristics of nano based
cementitious materials is not clear so far. Thus, more researches and investigations
are required in order to use the nanomaterials in civil engineering and construction
sector effectively.
