Database Modeling, System Design, And Improve Performance
MODELING
As databases and technology have evolved, Elmasri and Navathe point out that increasingly
complex data structures for modeling to meet the needs of the more advanced and larger databases
that were also beginning to include newer data types (2016). As stated before, with more complex
databases, there are more vulnerabilities in security that need to be planned for and mitigated
wherever possible. A DBMS is responsible for designing the methods in which data recovery and
security is handled, while tools are used within database modeling that facilitate modeling, system
design, and improve performance (Elmasri Navathe, 2016). When applying these tools to database
creation, security should always be considered in each step of modeling and creating the database.
The DBMS provides a security and authorization subsystem to the DBA so that they can use it to
create accounts and specify account restrictions (Elmasri Navathe, 2016).
AGGREGATION AND INFERENCE
Aggregation occurs when a user combines individual pieces of data that they have access to in
order to infer more of the bigger picture which they do not have access to, which can happen when
a user only has access to some records but draws enough information from the ones they do have
access to in order to figure out information that has been deemed off limits to them (Harris, 2002).
This is, of course, a potential security risk which should be corrected. On the other hand, knowledge
representation techniques,

What I Learned From The Video Essay
Video Summary
What I learned from the video is the following.
Have access to my money
Know where important information is kept.
Have an emergency bag with important items in.
I have not thought about having access to my own money as such of a important step after a
disaster like Katrina. When banks are everywhere I never thought having access to my money is
such of important step to getting back on my feet. Most of the times when I visit my bank all I
need to have access to my account is my social security number.
Most of my important information like birth certificate, social security, immunization records, tax
documents and health insurance is kept in a brief case under my parents bed. This includes both
my parents and siblings. I think it would be better to turn this information into digital version and
save them into a thumb drive or even upload them to a safe cloud database in order to have access
to this information anywhere there is internet access. From watching the video, having access to
information like this is important to stablish my identity in order to get help like social security
benefits and FEMA benefits when a natural disaster strikes.
Also from the video I realized that having an emergency bag ready to go incase of an emergency is
important. This bag should include a change of clothes, family members contact information a type
of identification and money in cash.

Cinderella, Aschenputtel, Little Saddleslut, And...
Cinderella, Aschenputtel, Little Saddleslut, and Cenerentola. These are all examples of
different versions of the same story. What is the appeal in adapting a story? Why or how is the
meaning changed for adaptations? How have stories been adapted? What effects do the stories
and adaptations have on people? There are numerous renditions of the same folktales, most
differentiating due to the fact that they were each adapted to be based on their cultures. Certain
cultures alter specific aspects of the story so that it can be more relatable to their society.
However, these alterations can affect how people interpret the meaning or purpose of the story.
In Tatar s article, An Introduction to Fairy Tales, she draws us in by describing childhood books
as sacred objects. She takes a quote from Arthur Schlesinger, Jr. describing how the stories give
lessons about what a child subconsciously knows that human nature is not innately good, that
conflict is real, that life is harsh before it is happy and thereby reassure them about their own
fears and their own sense of self, (Tatar 306). She describes how many adults long for the
simplicity of enjoying those stories in their childhoods, only to realize that they outgrew them, and
instead have been introduced to reality. The original stories were more for adults rather than for
children. Nowadays, stories have been adapted to be more suitable for children. Fairy tales may
allow a kid to wonder due to their charm, but they also can

Dystopia In The Giver, By Lois Lowry
The Giver
Lois Lowry
First Published in the USA by Houghton Mifflin in 1993
First Published in the Great Britain by HarperCollins in 1994
No. of pages 224
Lois Lowry s The Giver depicts the living in a futuristic society that has eliminated warfare,
hunger, agony, pain and has been converted to Sameness . It illustrates the story of a young boy,
Jonas who s living in this highly controlled community. This novel fits into a larger genre called
dystopian literature. It is set in a society which appears as a utopian society but as we progress it
is revealed to be a dystopian one. There is no prejudice in the community and it has also eliminated
choice where at the age of 12 every member of the community used to be selected by the Committee

Since Jonas lives in a community where each person s choice is restricted since they have the
fear of making wrong choices. Jonas lives in a community where the people have not been
exposed to the risks of climate variation nor to the any forms of pain or suffering. Their
development is stunted in many ways in the name of stability and predictability. This novel has
also depicted the relationship between memory and wisdom because as we reach towards the
end, Jonas has well understood what will benefit and what will hamper the stability of the
community and that has come through his new memories and his discussion of these memories
with the Giver. Jonas, the novel s protagonist is a brave and quick witted boy with the Capacity
to See Beyond. As the acquisition of society s memories gives him wisdom and new appreciation
for individual differences and human emotions, he gradually becomes disillusioned with his
society and is eventually faced with the choice either to continue being the Receiver or to take
action to place his community on a new path. Jonas here serves as an intermediary with the
humanity, who is supposed to deliver this newfound knowledge of memories to the other people.
This aspect can be closely related to Prophecy in religion. Here Jonas is likely to perform the role
of a Prophet. The book ends with the standard nonspecific transgressive spiritual event that marks all

Descent
The Most Beautiful Death
The short film, Descent is about a dying man and his very vivid memories shown through dance.
The movie won many awards including, the Van Gogh Award at the Amsterdam Film Festival and
Best Music and Dance at the Global Short Film Award. The film also won the Excellence film
award from Indie Fest.
The entire film is less than five minutes but it has so much content in it. I m usually not the kind of
person that watches live performances or goes to dance recitals. I have trouble understanding them
and this film was no exception, but it was so beautiful to watch that I m not upset that I wasn t sure
what was happening. I have a million different ideas of what the dancers could mean with their
movements but I m not sure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In front of the wall are three men with black trash bags over their faces. They are reaching out in
different directions and ripping open the bag. They pull themselves up off the floor and begin
their dance. It is beautiful and mesmerizing and I ve watched it several times. There are
moments when the camera goes into slow motion and we get a great scene of one of the three
men with his leg straight up in the air. After their dance the camera switches focus back to the
woman in a yellow dress from before. She moves as fluidly as water. Her movements are precise
and relaxing. She is making things that take lots of strength look like anyone is capable of doing
it. I could watch her dance for hours. Just as with the three men from before some of her
movements are caught in slow motion, at just the perfect time to see her body contort in different
ways. The film ends with the dying man and the woman in the yellow dress. He is still letting out
his substance from his body while he dies in her arms.
Along with the very powerful visuals from the dancers the music is strong and reflective. If I close
my eyes I can see the story laid out in front of me from the music alone. It has a haunting tone to it
that makes you wonder about your own life and what your memories would look like if someone

Oral Interview With Vanna Moore Essay
On September of 2016, I did an oral interview with Vanna Moore about her military past and
Vanna s ties to Texas. Over the whole interview I asked her questions about her experience in
Afghanistan and along the way I asked her questions about Texas. To the best of my knowledge
Vanna answered who are these people, these Texans , what do Texans tell us about America, and
what she thought of Texas. We talked about how her military experience shaped her conceptions of
Texas. In a setting such as this one and her experiences combined she had moments where she
seemed more comfortable and opened, and other moments that were difficult to get through. After
this oral interview experience I feel as though I know how I could use oral histories in my
classroom. During the beginning of the interview I asked Vanna What do you think the difference
is between West Texasand Texas from other regions of the state? Her answer consisted of a lot of
umms , but I think she answers the question Who are these people, these Texans in this statement
So, it s kinda like our own little world. And. But the people, the people I don t know. I guess it s.
The people are like, are more like small town people, there umm. I guess more like hospitable.
Vanna describes West Texans as being hospitable and having small town behavior. I should not
have to explain small town behavior, because Hollywood has done a wonderful job at giving us a
great idea of what small town people act like. Also, in the

Dangers Of MDMA
MDMA, going to parties, being a young adult and trying new things is always fun but it might
be more harmful than once thought. Looking at the compounds of the drug, how it was made
and long and short term effects to show how bad it is. Looking at the different age groups and
how MDMA affects them. Looking at all the consequences worldwide from MDMA will show
that this is a party drug to a party most might not want to go to. MDMA
(methylenedioxymethamphetamine) is more commonly known as ecstasy. It was made by a
german drug company called merck in 1912. It was then popularized in the hippie era in the 1970
s. People associated it to be dangerous because it was made by germanyand in the 1940 s

Although this may be true it doesn not cure anything it does what any other drug does give you
a false sense of happiness. The way this drug works as soon as it enters the bloodstream it goes
straight for you brain. Specifically it goes to the part of your brain that produces serotonin.
Serotonin essentially is the chemical your brain produces when your happy. MDMA or ecstasy
goes for the serotonin to push out as much as it can. Another danger of this drug is it can be sold
to people who do not know what it looks like for something more dangerous. This may be
harmful because serotonin is what regulates your overall mood and body temperature. When
this much serotonin is pushed out the body temperature is can go up to 110 degrees fahrenheit
or higher. At 110 degrees fahrenheit blood starts to coagulate in the past 2 decades dozens of
users died to this (John C.). This is a dangerous short term effect of MDMA but there are other
dangerous effects of MDMA that are long term as well. As the ecstasy forces serotonin out it
reshapes the brain cells that produces chemicals. A recent study pinning people who have never
taken ecstasy vs people who took it 2 weeks prior shows that there are less serotonin receptors in
people who have taken ecstasy. This makes it harder for your body to regulate emotions so
mood swings occur frequently. Depending on how hard the mood swing hits this could be
dangerous. Another danger of ecstasy is it s look, it looks like almost all other medicine. This can
be dangerous because you never know if it will show up in your medicine cabinet by mistake (it is
not likely to happen but there have been cases). More short term symptoms for ecstasy include
paranoia, addiction, muscle tension and worst case scenario death. Other long term effects of
ecstasy include kidney failure, hemorrhage, and

The Plight Of Minority Women

LITERATURE REVIEW
The Plight Of Minority Battered Women
The issues of domestic violence, focusing primarily on black ethnic minority women . To be able to
understand the problem of domestic violence, it is vital to recognize that violence toward women is
an international reality which has been recognized as a major public health issue (Shipway 2004).
According to Shipway 2004, the acknowledgment of domestic violence internationally as a major
public health has seen a readjustment in numbers in many areas that are dealing with domestic
violence, but there are still some areas where little if anything is done to support women abused by
intimate partners. The issues have increased where minority women have been lumped into one
category and not considering their different cultural and religious differences.
It has been said that obtaining data on African Americanminority women housing needs is hard.
(Netto et al., 2001) reported that there was national evidence that people from the black ethnic
minority with including immigrants find it very burdensome to access services.
Domestic violence influence women from all ethnic groups, African American women minority,
appeared to be isolated more that women from the majority.
According to Women s Aid 2010, there are claims that African American minority communities may
have to conquer religious and cultural pressure resulting in them being afraid of bringing shame onto

Dominance of the Ohio Valley Region Essay
Dominance of the Ohio Valley Region
The Ohio Valley Region was known as the American frontier during the time period from 1760 to
1813. The white expansion into the Ohio Valley Region brought about the decline and the eventual
dissolution of the Native American way of life. The struggles of the French and English in the north
and the westward push of American settlers in the south were met with unified pro nativist
resistance. The individual struggles of three men characterize the turmoil between whites and
Native Americans. Pontiac s war against the English, Tecumseh s organization of a unified Indian
Confederation, and Daniel Boone s leadership in the western migration into Kentucky demonstrate
the fight for control in the Ohio ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In turn, the French protected the Indians and supplied them with guns, gunpowder, ammunition for
hunting, and with provisions during harsh winters (Hough, xii). This European influence had
radically changed the lives of the Great Lakes tribes. By the time of Pontiac s boyhood, the stone
and bone tools of his people had been replaced by steel axes, knives, and traps (Hough, viii).
In the 1740s, commercial competition between France and Great Britain had intensified, and war
broke out in 1744. Ottawa warriors fought on the side of the French, as they did in all four major
wars from 1689 1763 (Eckert, 127).
British forces under British Commander in chief Sir Jeffrey Amherst swept through the Great
Lakes region, seizing control of most of the French forts by 1760. Amherst was well known to be
arrogant and contemptuous of the Indians. He insisted that the good behavior of the natives should
be bought with fear.
Under British occupation, unrest grew among the tribes (Hough,xii0). Pontiac called a meeting
of Ottawa, Chippewa, Huron, Potawatomi and other Lake tribes. Pontiac was a powerful orator
as well as warrior, and possessed a keen intelligence and skill as a strategist. He spoke to the
council of the wrongs they had suffered under the British and spoke of the Master of Life and his
urging for the Indians to turn back to their old ways. The warriors

Stay on the path! From, altering the future, to getting attacked by a crocodile, staying on the path is
crucial. In Being Prey and A Sound of Thunder the protagonists, the setting, and the theme all
changed the outcome of the story. I will compare and contrast all of these literary elements to prove
why you should stay on the path.
The settings of both stories were very dangerous. The Sound of Thunder is in a prehistoric time
with dinosaurs, That Mr. Travis pointed is the jungle of sixty million, two thousand, fifty five
years before President Keith . Being Prey is in a present day marsh that is abundant with
crocodiles, There are the crocodiles, lots of them along the river. The Sound of Thunder was
untouched by humans while Being Prey was a little bit touched or altered by humans. Both stories
were different and similar but dangerous at the same time. The protagonists of both stories had a
trait that ultimately got them in grave trouble. In both stories there was a path that for some

Perimenopause is the period extending from the first signs of menopause usually hot flashes,
vaginal dryness, or irregular menses to beyond the complete cessation of menses (2014). There are
two basic regimens for Hormone therapy, estrogen alone and estrogen plus progestin. The purpose
of estrogen in both regimens is to control menopausal symptoms by replacing estrogenthat was lost

Love Collection Research Paper
Love is the key to collecting anything be it antiques or beanie babies. When you love the things
you collect, you feel a passion that encourages you to spend your money, time and energy adding
to and caring for your collection. Begin your collection with pieces you love. The first step to
collecting is to find something you love and wantto surround yourself with. A healthy and
inspiring collection is one you will want to live with for years to come. The exact nature of your
collection is up to you. Choose art or furniture of a particular period or style or select an item that
is representative of meaning in your life. Consider collecting teddy bears like the first one your
mother gave you or elephant figurines after one sparked your interest at a flea market. You might
have to take a look around your home and find that a collection has already started. Look for the

collector. You might choose to collect inexpensive items that speak to you or items of higher
value. Talk to the experts. When and if your collection begins to have some value it s time to talk
to the experts. Listen to their advice. Through them you can learn what value is reasonable for

The Inequality Of The American Dream
The American Dream is the idea that any American can raise their socioeconomic status through
hard work . However, for many Americans, that dream has become impossible. Due to economic
hardship, many Americans are struggling to simply provide food for their families. Upward
mobility seems elusive. Despite the fact that some believe the American Dream is still a reality, due
to poor education, unemployment, economic downturn, and economic inequality the American
Dream has become unattainable for most lower and middle class Americans. America has a
massive wealth gap. According to Chris Matthews at Fortune, in America, the wealthiest 160,000

Simply put, college graduates are having a hard time finding jobs, and without a well paying job it
is impossible to raise one s economic status in America. When an American graduates from college,
there is a good chance that they will not be able to find employment. This is no surprise, since the
Great Recession and its aftermath is the longest, most severe period of economic weakness in more
than seven decades (Davis, Gould, and Kimball). Economic downturn means fewer available jobs,
especially for those who are just entering the market, as most graduates are. According to the
Economic Policy Institute, the unemployment rate for college graduates is 7.2 percent and the
underemployment rate (the unemployment rate combined with the rate of people currently
employed part time but seeking full time work) is 14.9 percent. Due to the poor economic situation

that our politicians make it out to be, why can t we find new ways to do things that save money, cut

Sample Testing Is Mandatory Against A Static Groundwater...
Statistical methods can be useful in compliance assessment and corrective action monitoring, where
single sample testing is mandatory against a static groundwater protection standard. These criteria
health and also those derived from related as a fixed standard. The primary tool for monitoring is
the confidence interval. Numerous ranges of confidence intervals, including confidence intervals
around means, medians. The goal is on planning tests with reasonable statistical performance in
terms of per test false positive rates.
Confidence interval are designed to estimate statistical characteristics of some parameter of sampled
population. Given a statistical parameter of interest such as the population mean (Вµ), the lower and
upper limits of a confidence interval define the most probable concentration range in which the true
parameter should be.
Like any estimate, the true parameter many not be located within the confidence interval. The
frequency with which this error tends to occur is denoted О±, while its complement (1 О±) is
known as the confidence level. The confidence level represents the percentage of cases where a
confidence interval constructed according to a fixed algorithm or equation will actually contain its
intended target, e.g., the population mean.
A point worth clarifying is the distinction between О± as the complement of the confidence level
when constructing a confidence interval and the significance level (О±) used in hypothesis testing.

One idea about woman s gender roles is that they are oppressed and are expected to follow

A Midwife s Tale Sparknotes
Laurel Ulrich s A Midwife s Tale
Before I watched A Midwife s Tale , a movie created from the diary found by Laurel Ulrich
chronicling the life of a woman named Martha Ballard, I thought the women in these times were
just housewives and nothing else. I pictured them doing the cleaning and the cooking for their
husbands and not being very smart because of the lack of education or them being unable to work.
My view on the subject changed however when I watched this specific woman s life and her work.

What I thought was weird is, in the movie, Martha asks the mother in labor who the father of the
baby is and that?s how they did paternity tests which seems so strange but it was the only way at
the time, I guess. She probably wasn?t happy when the spinster girl that worked at her house, in
the movie, said her son?s name during that crucial moment. After a hard day like this she got to go
home and clean her house and cook food, I can just imagine how fun this was.
The incident in the movie when I found out that the minister?s wife was pregnant by one of the
men who gang raped her amazed me because I didn?t know things like that happened back then.
And it was sad because she couldn?t really do anything about it because of the fact, like I said
before, the cards stacked in the men?s favor. Also, she was not able to prove the father of the
baby even though she thought it was North, there was still no way to make sure of it. This is
another thing that confirms that the women of this time were strong people, especially all the
other women who had to go through things like she had to. Martha Ballard also had endure a lot
of hard times as she got older. She couldn?t do the things she used to be able to do when she was
younger and probably more healthier. When her husband was put in jail for not collecting

Rhetorical Analysis Of Dr. King s Letter From Birmingham Jail
In Dr. King s, Letter from Birmingham Jail, King specifically writes to the Clergymen of
Birmingham, AL. While taking into consideration those who might hear his acknowledgments of
what s going on, to justify and explain his intentions, while also trying to appeal to these audiences
to make them see the harsh consequences of unfair and biased inequalities that consume the city of
Birmingham Al., during this time. Dr. King specifically writes this letter to the priest who had
insinuated that the situation of racial discrimination was controlled by those of the law and
authority, which they felt was not to involve Dr. King and his followers.
Dr.King uses different examples throughout the text and does an excellent job in making the
argument more approachable. With key points and non violent intentions, which he is trying to get
the idea across to the clergymen of Birmingham, Al. A Knowledgeable outspoken choice Dr. King

Short term responses
One short term response when playing basketball is when your face starts to go red, this happens
because the body gets too hot and it tries to cool the body down by bringing blood to the surface
of the skin to let some heat out and the skin also produces sweat to let out heat, therefore the skin
surface goes red. Another short term response to physical activity is that your breathing rate and
heart rate increases, the reason this occurs is because the muscles are being made to work harder
and as a result of that the muscles need more oxygen so therefore you need to breathe in more
oxygen and breathe out more carbon dioxide to keep the muscles going. Another short ... Show

The increase in oxidative capacity is achieved by an increase in the number of mitochondria (An
organelle found in large numbers in most cells, in which the biochemical processes of respiration
and energy production occur.) within the muscle cells, an increase in the supply of ATP and an
increase in the quantity of enzymes involved in respiration. Another long term change that occurs
due to training is that the heart gets larger; the result in the change is due to increased stress on the
heart. The extra work of pumping blood against the increased pressure causes the heart wall to
thicken over time, the same way a body muscle increases in mass in response to weightlifting. A
long term change in the cardiovascular system as a result of training is that the resting heart rate
gets lower, the cardiovascular response happens because a person that has been training for a
long time has a lower heart rate because through exercise, they have a stronger heart; meaning
that an athlete s heart can pump more blood and more oxygen out with one pump than a non
athlete s heart could. Another long term response in the cardiovascular system is that the blood
supply increases, this change is due to your body needing more oxygen because you are
exercising, your muscles and all your body organs are needing more energy and oxygen, this is
because your body is working more than usual. Your body needs to do many things such as sweat,
which helps you cool down, and to

Summary Of The Song Concrete Angel
While child abuse can indirectly cause obesity, it is often directly responsible for child death. The
Song Concrete Angel written by Martina McBride illustrates the pain and hardships of a child who
was abused, neglected and then died. McBride explains the fear and the worry the child felt each
day and then reminds listeners that many abused children don t even live to adulthood. Often times,
the long term effect of child abuseand neglect is death. She argues that people need to do more to

Bacillus, Mycoplasma, and Escherichia Essay
Bacillus, Mycoplasma, and Escherichia
In a clinical setting signs and symptoms can lead a care taker down a treatment path, but if a
bacterial infection is suspected, a definitive answer from the lab is needed before prescribing
medications. In this instance a yellow sputum was produced by the patient, which will be taken to
the lab an analyzed under a microscope. There are three suspect bacteria, which are Bacillus,
Mycoplasma, and Escherichia. A discussion of staining procedures, as well as anatomical
differences will be discussed for each specimen.

It is known that Mycoplasma pneumonia causes pneumonia. Escherichia coli causes diseases such

Higher level writing is vital for my current standings as a college student and my future
endeavors. In order to receive positive responses on any papers or discussions, I must be able to
properly write on a college level. I have continuously worked on my writing skills throughout
English 101 and 102 and hope the skills I have gained in these courses will prepare me to write on
an intellectual level. Looking back at previous discussion posts, assignments, papers, and feedback
from peers and my instructor, I have achieved a large amount of insight to higher level writing. This
past semester I was required to create four major papers including Rhetorical Analysis Essay,
Annotated Bibliography, Exploratory Essay, and the Researched Position Paper. Each of these
papers entailed vigorous researchand time. My writing has progressively improved throughout the
semester in quoting, summarizing, and paraphrasing source material, as well as choosing academic
appropriate sources; however, I must strive to improve in general writing skills covering
organization, style, diction, grammar, and mechanics.
I felt that I did well on the third course objective of synthesizing ethically summarized, paraphrased,
and quoted source material into academic arguments. Typically, I used quotes strongly along with
information throughout my papers from numerous academic level sources. In my Researched
Position Paper Final, I quoted two sentences from Jeffrey Lieberman s article, How to Halt the

Who Is King Richard III Good Or Evil
Richard III King Richard iii is a well known historical play written by William Shakespeare.
From 1483 to 1485 Richard ruled over the land of England. Much misconceptions have been
noted to actually describe what kind of ruler he was; whether he was a hero or a tyrant
Shakespeare scrutinized Richard as a killer and a very evil person whose selfish ways got him to
reign over his kingdom. Rather than using verifiable facts, his play was very much exaggerated.
Shakespeare held up certain crimes against Richard that ruined his reputation. In Act 1 scene 1,

The History
Democracy Derailed begins with addressing the evolution of the initiative process. During the first
twenty years in Plymouth Colonies, all adult men met to consider legislation. In 1715,
Massachusetts had to address anything that was supported by ten citizens. By 1788, Massachusetts
began conducting referendums, and by the 1850 s, referendums had become an acceptable

The common ground that all members shared was their dislike and distrust for Democrats,
Republicans, banks and monopolists. They felt that these groups were controlled by extreme
corruption and infested legislatures with bribes to maintain control and power.
Both groups chose the initiative to help clean up governmental corruption, inspired by its use in
Switzerland. The Webster s Dictionary defines initiative as, the introduction of proposed
legislation, as to popular vote, by voters petitions. This is what dre3w both the Populists and
Progressives to migrating initiatives to the United States. The popular theory was that if voters
would gain education and curiosity connected to public affairs. Initiatives seemed like the logical
solution to allow power directly aback in the people s hands. Woodrow Wilson wrote that, the men
who have been ruling America must consent to let majority into the game...We will not allow the
few to continue to determine what the policy of the country is to be...all men with the convictions
of America in their hearts, will crowd to that standard and a new day of achievement may come for

Data Analysis Method
Throughout our observation week we were able to collect vast amount of data both from
observations and interviews. In order to let our data speak to us and help us to understand how
the collaborative work is conducted between ITB and Royal Danish Library we have adopted
grounded theory method as a main data analysis practice to work with. This decision involved
summarizing cons and pros of using this approach. According to Glaser, Barney G Strauss (1967),
using grounded theoryinvolves development of theory rather by logical deduction then from
experimental data itself. The publication of The Discovery of Grounded theory finds it relevant
in practical applications and enable prediction and explanation of behavior. As our field setting
is not often overflown with different actors we have decided to unlock behavioral patterns and
get insight also on the profiles of employees. By this approach we have enriched our data, by
being able to see connection between artifacts and articulation work, that draws an implication of
artifacts in collaborative work. Moreover we have observed that each artifact might have
different purpose of use as it is observed by different point of views from different subjects. The
fact that we were able to actually observe appropriation in collaborative work, which can be
described such as an assimilation of technology by group of people in completely different manner

The Machiavelli And Machiavelli s The Prince
I have always found great interest in the infamous Niccolo Machiavelli and his ways of thinking;
my eye was drawn to him long before I knew I would be studying at Colorado State and even
before I had any interest in politics. It was from young man know as Tupac Shakur, and let me
tell you it is great to finally understand who Machiavelli is and the things he has done for the
outlook on politics after hearing about how much respect and praise he got from the iconic rapper
of the 1990s. In this paper I will be analyzing and contrasting Thomas More s Utopia and
Machiavelli s The Princeand their ideas on subjects that include good governance and social
orders, key reforms, and who should be held responsible for providing good governance and an
orderly society.
First let us discuss the ideas of Niccolo Machiavelli in is piece The Prince . Machiavelli has a
very independent controversial way of thinking and portraying his ideal form of governance in
this text. The ideal and most effective from of governance for him is not in that of a republic but
instead he insists in an autocratic regime. He argues that republics and other forms of
government are too weak because of the corruptness of human nature. This book is written as a
guide on how a prince should run his state or nation based on how and when he would come into
this power. One of his main concerns in which he has been criticized for is his disregard to follow
moral values so as to properly run the state, as well as

How Does Voltaire Present The Roll Of Society And Class In...
Throughout Voltaire s Candide many new ideas that were not often presented at the time were

the enlightenment. Voltaire shows this through Candide s viewpoints and actions. Voltaire explores
the roll of society and class while reflecting on human nature and our inability to support our own
beliefs due to societal pressures. Throughout the story, Pangloss is often used to represent the idea
of a paternal optimism and his actions are often exaggerated to show Voltaires point that the upper

Electricity and Magnetism
Human civilisation has dealt with magnetism for millennia, earliest evidence dating as far back as
1000 BC where the ancient Chinese civilisation discovered a naturally occurring magnetic ore,
magnetite. This ore, commonly known as lodestone was used by the ancient Chinese as a
geomagnetic compass, however, no one really knew what magnetism was at the time. For centuries
on, we have had basic knowledge regarding electricity based upon static electricity found from
rubbing amber and fur. However, up until the early 1800s, our understanding of electricity and
magnetism was severely limited considering both of them as entirely separate phenomena.

The ions are then accelerated so that they have the same kinetic energy. These accelerated ions
are then passed through a vacuum tube (remember mass to charge ratios), subjected with an
electromagnetic field. Lighter ions will be deflected more and the more positively charged they
are (less electrons / more electrons knocked off) the more they are deflected. One can alter the
strength of the field to accommodate for the mass to charge ratio range needed to be detected.
Accelerated ions which are still within the path of the tube are then captured by a detector which
analyses the amount of ions carried through the ion beam. The vacuum tube where ions were
accelerated through is called a mass analyser. The relationship between the accelerated ion beams
and the electromagnetic field being subjected is best summarised through Newton s 2nd Law and
Lorentz Force Law:
F=ma
F=q(E+V Г—B)
Where F = Force, m = mass of ions, a = acceleration, q = ionic charge, E = electric field and V x B
= the vector cross product of the ion velocity and the applied magnetic field. When a charged
particle is accelerated perpendicular to a magnetic field, it will curve, hence the deflection of ion
beams in the mass analyser. This deflection can be best described as a centripetal force and the
force applied on the charge can also be given by F = qv x B. Since the force is perpendicular, the

Before conducting the Activity Series Lab, participants must know how to protect themselves
against the possible dangers that the hazardous materials from the lab can cause. Some of the
things they must understand include proper safety precautions and how to protect against
corrosive or poisonous materials. For instance, Copper (II) Chloride, one of the solutions used in
the lab, can cause severe eye irritation. One way to protect against this is by wearing goggles, or
other eye protection equipment. Another substance used in the lab is Silver Nitrate, a body tissue

chemical change include a change of colour, the forming of a precipitate, the forming of gas

the hours required to get your licenses or did you wait and fill them all out at the end? If most of

helps you to make wiser and more mature decisions. You are then less likely to text and drive.

kin. (Lareau, 2011, p.3). Essentially in concerted cultivationparents are focused in exposing their
children in activities that will implement skills that they can use later in life. Some of the skills will
be mentioned in the next paragraph. As for the natural growth approach, it is more concerned in
letting the child acquire the necessary skills on their own. This parentingstyle views that the parents
do not really impact the skills that the child learns. An example would be thinking that the child s
organized activity helps the child have something to do for a certain amount of time. They do not
view the child s activities as helping them acquire skills that will help them into adulthood.
Throughout the book it has become clear that the differences we are seeing are not due to racial or

Watkins-Witt House Analysis
It s uncommon for unique homes with historical provenence to become available on the market and
yet that s exactly what will take place on Saturday, September 26, 2015 when Mack Coulter of
Coulter Realty and Auction raises the hammer on the Arrowhill Mansion in Talbott, Tennessee.
Arrowhill, also know as the Watkins Witt House, was built in 1857 by Congressman Albert G.
Watkins, who had extensive land holdings in the area. The home was built by slave labor, with
bricks fired on the grounds. During the War Between the States, the house was used as headquarters
and hospital by both armies. Confederate General James Longstreet was among its guest for a night.
The Watkins Witt House is nominated under National Register criterion C for its architectural

Replicant In The Blade Runner
2. The existence of replicants raises questions about what it means to be human.Discuss the ideas
developed in the film about personhood. Who counts as a human and who doesn t.
Robots initially are aiming for helping people in different areas thus make people s lives become
more efficient. However, with the development of the technology, more human like robots are
created by humans. Just like the replicants in the movie Blade Runner , they are identical to humans
from their appearance and they all have emotions. Even some of them have memories.
Theoretically, they are robots and are made by humans, but they have all the characteristics that all
human should have. This raises some serious questions, should they be considered humans? And

He does not show his humanity at the beginning of the movie due to his desire for survival just
like other humans. He wants to live and is scared to die. So he starts to solve his problem by
finding his father Tyrell. He at the time is not a replicant that can be controlled by humans
anymore, he is fearful and angry. He is able to fight for himself and his friends. Roy s plea to
Tyrell is simple, he just wants more life . Moreover, he kills Tyrell because Tyrell is not able to
extend his life. This action creates a huge comparison between his final speech with Deckard.
Roy s final speech shows what he has seen in his brief life, and admits that all will be lost. At that
moment, he accepts his death, just like what he says All those moments will be lost in time, like
tears in the rain. . He understands the truth of living, and he knows all his memories are like tears
in the rain and eventually will be lost with time. He also learns the word love through his journey.
The action that he saves Deckard s life, forces the viewer to rethink their assumptions about the
replicants humanity at the beginning of the movie. The transition from Roy s desire to survive thus
killing Tyrell, later willing to show mercy to Deckard. Roy becomes more human than most of
these callous human characters that are in the movie. Therefore, this is why he is also counted as

Stereotypes Of Women In Math Essay
In the mathematical field there is an obvious differentiation between the amount of males and
females in the field. This might raise the question of why that is or if there even is a specific reason,
well there is, women are heavily pushed away from mathematical careers due to multiple factors.
Although there are not many females in the math field, the ones that are bring different ways of
thinking into light which helps the math careers grow and improve. Even though women do have
different perspectives and outlooks on things, the way they do math is not very different, but
unfortunately when put in pressured situations women seem to underperform compared to when
they are in a calm, unpressured environment. One way that people could rid of... Show more content

They both have different ways of solving math and men most times have the advantage over
women due to the heavy impact of stereotypes on women. In the article Knowing is Half the Battle:
Teaching Stereotypes Threats as a Means of Improving Women s Math Performance it states that
there are many affects that stereotypes have on women that effect their performance including
anxiety and other affective and cognitive responses. (John) When stereotypes are put into play, they
cause problems and the people cannot perform properly because they start to believe the lies of the
stereotypes. One thing from New Trends in Gender and Mathematics Performance: A Meta
Analysis writes that women perform better in a setting where there are no stereotypes versus a
setting that has stereotypes. (Lindberg) This shows that college student women do not perform
well when they are pressured by the stereotypes people say to them, but when put in a place where
there are no stereotypes pressuring them they do better in their mathematical performance.
Stereotypes are one of the main reasons that females have trouble with competing against males,
because they feel that they are not good enough. Stereotypes are a huge problem when deciding
what to do for a career, but when there is a way to deplete stereotypes it might change the

In 1963 Brady and Boblit (his companion) were prosecuted for murder and were tried separately.
In his extrajudicial statement Boblit confessed to committing the murder and stated that he has
acted alone. During Brady s trial, however, the prosecution had withheld Boblit s written
statement of his confession to acting alone. Due to the lack of information Brady confessed that
he had been involved in the murder but that Boblit was the one that actually committed the
killing. Because of the nature of both Boblit s and Brady s confessions they were both found
guilty of first degree murder and sentenced to death. Brady s counsel was given all the
extrajudicial statements except the one containing Boblit s confession of committing the act of
murder alone. Brady then appealed claiming that having Boblit s confession withheld from his
counsel was a direct violation of his right to due process of law. Boblit s counsel claimed that if
Brady and his attorneys had been made aware of the confession they would have been able to
present it to the jury and would most likely not received such a harsh

  • 2. Database Modeling, System Design, And Improve Performance MODELING As databases and technology have evolved, Elmasri and Navathe point out that increasingly complex data structures for modeling to meet the needs of the more advanced and larger databases that were also beginning to include newer data types (2016). As stated before, with more complex databases, there are more vulnerabilities in security that need to be planned for and mitigated wherever possible. A DBMS is responsible for designing the methods in which data recovery and security is handled, while tools are used within database modeling that facilitate modeling, system design, and improve performance (Elmasri Navathe, 2016). When applying these tools to database creation, security should always be considered in each step of modeling and creating the database. The DBMS provides a security and authorization subsystem to the DBA so that they can use it to create accounts and specify account restrictions (Elmasri Navathe, 2016). AGGREGATION AND INFERENCE Aggregation occurs when a user combines individual pieces of data that they have access to in order to infer more of the bigger picture which they do not have access to, which can happen when a user only has access to some records but draws enough information from the ones they do have access to in order to figure out information that has been deemed off limits to them (Harris, 2002). This is, of course, a potential security risk which should be corrected. On the other hand, knowledge representation techniques, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. What I Learned From The Video Essay Video Summary What I learned from the video is the following. Have access to my money Know where important information is kept. Have an emergency bag with important items in. I have not thought about having access to my own money as such of a important step after a disaster like Katrina. When banks are everywhere I never thought having access to my money is such of important step to getting back on my feet. Most of the times when I visit my bank all I need to have access to my account is my social security number. Most of my important information like birth certificate, social security, immunization records, tax documents and health insurance is kept in a brief case under my parents bed. This includes both my parents and siblings. I think it would be better to turn this information into digital version and save them into a thumb drive or even upload them to a safe cloud database in order to have access to this information anywhere there is internet access. From watching the video, having access to information like this is important to stablish my identity in order to get help like social security benefits and FEMA benefits when a natural disaster strikes. Also from the video I realized that having an emergency bag ready to go incase of an emergency is important. This bag should include a change of clothes, family members contact information a type of identification and money in cash. Personal Document File The process I took when creating this folder is ... • 4. Cinderella, Aschenputtel, Little Saddleslut, And... Cinderella, Aschenputtel, Little Saddleslut, and Cenerentola. These are all examples of different versions of the same story. What is the appeal in adapting a story? Why or how is the meaning changed for adaptations? How have stories been adapted? What effects do the stories and adaptations have on people? There are numerous renditions of the same folktales, most differentiating due to the fact that they were each adapted to be based on their cultures. Certain cultures alter specific aspects of the story so that it can be more relatable to their society. However, these alterations can affect how people interpret the meaning or purpose of the story. In Tatar s article, An Introduction to Fairy Tales, she draws us in by describing childhood books as sacred objects. She takes a quote from Arthur Schlesinger, Jr. describing how the stories give lessons about what a child subconsciously knows that human nature is not innately good, that conflict is real, that life is harsh before it is happy and thereby reassure them about their own fears and their own sense of self, (Tatar 306). She describes how many adults long for the simplicity of enjoying those stories in their childhoods, only to realize that they outgrew them, and instead have been introduced to reality. The original stories were more for adults rather than for children. Nowadays, stories have been adapted to be more suitable for children. Fairy tales may allow a kid to wonder due to their charm, but they also can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dystopia In The Giver, By Lois Lowry The Giver Lois Lowry First Published in the USA by Houghton Mifflin in 1993 First Published in the Great Britain by HarperCollins in 1994 No. of pages 224 Lois Lowry s The Giver depicts the living in a futuristic society that has eliminated warfare, hunger, agony, pain and has been converted to Sameness . It illustrates the story of a young boy, Jonas who s living in this highly controlled community. This novel fits into a larger genre called dystopian literature. It is set in a society which appears as a utopian society but as we progress it is revealed to be a dystopian one. There is no prejudice in the community and it has also eliminated choice where at the age of 12 every member of the community used to be selected by the Committee ... Jonas lives in a community where the people have not been exposed to the risks of climate variation nor to the any forms of pain or suffering. Their development is stunted in many ways in the name of stability and predictability. This novel has also depicted the relationship between memory and wisdom because as we reach towards the end, Jonas has well understood what will benefit and what will hamper the stability of the community and that has come through his new memories and his discussion of these memories with the Giver. Jonas, the novel s protagonist is a brave and quick witted boy with the Capacity to See Beyond. As the acquisition of society s memories gives him wisdom and new appreciation for individual differences and human emotions, he gradually becomes disillusioned with his society and is eventually faced with the choice either to continue being the Receiver or to take action to place his community on a new path. Jonas here serves as an intermediary with the humanity, who is supposed to deliver this newfound knowledge of memories to the other people. This aspect can be closely related to Prophecy in religion. Here Jonas is likely to perform the role of a Prophet. The book ends with the standard nonspecific transgressive spiritual event that marks all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are moments when the camera goes into slow motion and we get a great scene of one of the three men with his leg straight up in the air. After their dance the camera switches focus back to the woman in a yellow dress from before. She moves as fluidly as water. Her movements are precise and relaxing. She is making things that take lots of strength look like anyone is capable of doing it. I could watch her dance for hours. Just as with the three men from before some of her movements are caught in slow motion, at just the perfect time to see her body contort in different ways. The film ends with the dying man and the woman in the yellow dress. He is still letting out his substance from his body while he dies in her arms. Along with the very powerful visuals from the dancers the music is strong and reflective. If I close my eyes I can see the story laid out in front of me from the music alone. Over the whole interview I asked her questions about her experience in Afghanistan and along the way I asked her questions about Texas. To the best of my knowledge Vanna answered who are these people, these Texans , what do Texans tell us about America, and what she thought of Texas. We talked about how her military experience shaped her conceptions of Texas. In a setting such as this one and her experiences combined she had moments where she seemed more comfortable and opened, and other moments that were difficult to get through. After this oral interview experience I feel as though I know how I could use oral histories in my classroom. During the beginning of the interview I asked Vanna What do you think the difference is between West Texasand Texas from other regions of the state? Her answer consisted of a lot of umms , but I think she answers the question Who are these people, these Texans in this statement So, it s kinda like our own little world. And. But the people, the people I don t know. I guess it s. The people are like, are more like small town people, there umm. I guess more like hospitable. Looking at all the consequences worldwide from MDMA will show that this is a party drug to a party most might not want to go to. MDMA (methylenedioxymethamphetamine) is more commonly known as ecstasy. It was made by a german drug company called merck in 1912. It was then popularized in the hippie era in the 1970 s. Although this may be true it doesn not cure anything it does what any other drug does give you a false sense of happiness. The way this drug works as soon as it enters the bloodstream it goes straight for you brain. Specifically it goes to the part of your brain that produces serotonin. Serotonin essentially is the chemical your brain produces when your happy. MDMA or ecstasy goes for the serotonin to push out as much as it can. Another danger of this drug is it can be sold to people who do not know what it looks like for something more dangerous. This may be harmful because serotonin is what regulates your overall mood and body temperature. When this much serotonin is pushed out the body temperature is can go up to 110 degrees fahrenheit or higher. At 110 degrees fahrenheit blood starts to coagulate in the past 2 decades dozens of users died to this (John C.). This is a dangerous short term effect of MDMA but there are other dangerous effects of MDMA that are long term as well. As the ecstasy forces serotonin out it reshapes the brain cells that produces chemicals. A recent study pinning people who have never taken ecstasy vs people who took it 2 weeks prior shows that there are less serotonin receptors in people who have taken ecstasy. This makes it harder for your body to regulate emotions so mood swings occur frequently. Depending on how hard the mood swing hits this could be dangerous. Another danger of ecstasy is it s look, it looks like almost all other medicine. This can be dangerous because you never know if it will show up in your medicine cabinet by mistake (it is not likely to happen but there have been cases). More short term symptoms for ecstasy include paranoia, addiction, muscle tension and worst case scenario death. Other long term effects of ecstasy include kidney failure, hemorrhage, and ... To be able to understand the problem of domestic violence, it is vital to recognize that violence toward women is an international reality which has been recognized as a major public health issue (Shipway 2004). According to Shipway 2004, the acknowledgment of domestic violence internationally as a major public health has seen a readjustment in numbers in many areas that are dealing with domestic violence, but there are still some areas where little if anything is done to support women abused by intimate partners. The issues have increased where minority women have been lumped into one category and not considering their different cultural and religious differences. It has been said that obtaining data on African Americanminority women housing needs is hard. In the 1740s, commercial competition between France and Great Britain had intensified, and war broke out in 1744. Ottawa warriors fought on the side of the French, as they did in all four major wars from 1689 1763 (Eckert, 127). British forces under British Commander in chief Sir Jeffrey Amherst swept through the Great Lakes region, seizing control of most of the French forts by 1760. Statistical methods can be useful in compliance assessment and corrective action monitoring, where single sample testing is mandatory against a static groundwater protection standard. These criteria health and also those derived from related as a fixed standard. The primary tool for monitoring is the confidence interval. Numerous ranges of confidence intervals, including confidence intervals around means, medians. The goal is on planning tests with reasonable statistical performance in terms of per test false positive rates. Confidence interval are designed to estimate statistical characteristics of some parameter of sampled population. Given a statistical parameter of interest such as the population mean (Вµ), the lower and upper limits of a confidence interval define the most probable concentration range in which the true parameter should be. Like any estimate, the true parameter many not be located within the confidence interval. The frequency with which this error tends to occur is denoted О±, while its complement (1 О±) is known as the confidence level. The confidence level represents the percentage of cases where a confidence interval constructed according to a fixed algorithm or equation will actually contain its intended target, e.g., the population mean. Another short term response to physical activity is that your breathing rate and heart rate increases, the reason this occurs is because the muscles are being made to work harder and as a result of that the muscles need more oxygen so therefore you need to breathe in more oxygen and breathe out more carbon dioxide to keep the muscles going. Another long term change that occurs due to training is that the heart gets larger; the result in the change is due to increased stress on the heart. The extra work of pumping blood against the increased pressure causes the heart wall to thicken over time, the same way a body muscle increases in mass in response to weightlifting. A long term change in the cardiovascular system as a result of training is that the resting heart rate gets lower, the cardiovascular response happens because a person that has been training for a long time has a lower heart rate because through exercise, they have a stronger heart; meaning that an athlete s heart can pump more blood and more oxygen out with one pump than a non athlete s heart could. I have continuously worked on my writing skills throughout English 101 and 102 and hope the skills I have gained in these courses will prepare me to write on an intellectual level. Looking back at previous discussion posts, assignments, papers, and feedback from peers and my instructor, I have achieved a large amount of insight to higher level writing. This past semester I was required to create four major papers including Rhetorical Analysis Essay, Annotated Bibliography, Exploratory Essay, and the Researched Position Paper. Each of these papers entailed vigorous researchand time. My writing has progressively improved throughout the semester in quoting, summarizing, and paraphrasing source material, as well as choosing academic appropriate sources; however, I must strive to improve in general writing skills covering organization, style, diction, grammar, and mechanics. I felt that I did well on the third course objective of synthesizing ethically summarized, paraphrased, and quoted source material into academic arguments. The ions are then accelerated so that they have the same kinetic energy. These accelerated ions are then passed through a vacuum tube (remember mass to charge ratios), subjected with an electromagnetic field. Lighter ions will be deflected more and the more positively charged they are (less electrons / more electrons knocked off) the more they are deflected. One can alter the strength of the field to accommodate for the mass to charge ratio range needed to be detected. Accelerated ions which are still within the path of the tube are then captured by a detector which analyses the amount of ions carried through the ion beam. The vacuum tube where ions were accelerated through is called a mass analyser. The relationship between the accelerated ion beams and the electromagnetic field being subjected is best summarised through Newton s 2nd Law and Lorentz Force Law: F=ma F=q(E+V Г—B) Where F = Force, m = mass of ions, a = acceleration, q = ionic charge, E = electric field and V x B = the vector cross product of the ion velocity and the applied magnetic field. When a charged particle is accelerated perpendicular to a magnetic field, it will curve, hence the deflection of ion beams in the mass analyser. This deflection can be best described as a centripetal force and the force applied on the charge can also be given by F = qv x B. Since the force is perpendicular, the magnitude of the ...
