The On Non Verbal Communication
What are you thinking is as a same time terrific and exalting question to ask. Repeatedly ask when
other seems to listen to us or when their non verbal communication show fretfulness. This question
is as the time surprising and normal, pushing to deliver what we hide inside us. To say the unsaid,
to show the unseen thus to exhibit the intrinsic thought. I used to think about the world. Yes, the
world, this place that we humans live in. In this extent what is the proper definition of world? It
is only a place or it can be defined as the people who inhabit in. Is the people only related to
merely us humans or it is much more extend? Could we categorize the animals as people or this
name can only be attributed to us? Could the word people change its meaning depending of the
context and have a connotation to characterize other outside humans. Or should I be clever and
called the others outside humanby their name already establish such as animals and plants, water,
air? But do those name reflect what they are? Are they enough pejorative meaning in those names
to reveal its importance? Or did I add some pathetic sense in their name to illustrate their so called
their miniature and insignificant importance in the whole that we call world? We could say that we
care about them and their name reflect what they are. In addition, we humans create some
organization which defend them and we also adopt some of them as companions; therefore, it is
not right to say that we did not provide

Internet Fraud Is Greater Than Ever
ote In a world amid the buzzing and beeping of smart phones, laptops, and tablets, our susceptibility
now to internet fraud is greater than ever. It s not incredibly uncommon to hear of someone s
experience with separation anxiety over their mobile device. and although this may be common
nature and just scream of the attachment issues we ve developed with each new technological
advancement becoming available on the market, the preeminent problem is security. The deceit in
the system is clear to see. We lock our doors as a method of protecting ourselves in our homes and
vehicles, but what measure provides the same sense of security online? The passwords we create
that are intended to be a minimum of eight characters, include a number as well as at least one
capital letter, or special character has to be something that we can remember and have committed to
memory. The issue with this lies within the frequency of of repetitive use of the same keyword
/phrase. Director of IT for Bud Clary Automotive and Senior Emerging Security Technology
Engineer Consultant for Nike, Inc., Sherry Carpenter, provides insight on the subject, With just
over three billion people accessing the internet everyday it s proven to be immensely important to
have firewalls, encryption tactics and Intrusion Prevention Systems in place to secure a network
from malicious traffic (including viruses, malware, ransomware, etc.)... By merely opening an

Tourism Dubai
About Dubai
Dubai is one of the major cities in the UAE. Dubai is located south of the Persian Gulf on the
Arabian Peninsula. Dubai is located on the emirate s northern coastline and has the largest
population with the second largest land territory by area of all the emirates, after Abu Dhabi. Dubai
is surrounded by Saudi Arabia on its southern and western borders while northern and eastern
borders are shared with the Sultanate of Oman. The neighbouring cities of Dubai are Abu Dhabi,
Ajman, Sharjah and Umma al Quwain.

Sustainable tourism
Dubai could be sustainable by them to stop using so much oil because their cheap supply of oil
is running out. They could use wind and sun energy to power skyscrapers and other buildings like
hotels, this will make natural resources a lot more sustainable. This can affect the local residents
because they are not use to sun and wind power. The UAE came the least environmentally friendly
country because of its heavy reliance on air conditioning to survive the hot summers, which can be
more than 40 degrees Celsius. Instead of relying on air conditioning they can use wind power in

The Fight for Bilingual Education and Women’s Rights in...
The Civil Rights movement, during the 1960s and 1970s, created many changes for both American
society and its schools. The transformations were the result of such movements as Bilingual
Education, women s rights activity, and the passing of the Public Law 94 142 legislation. The
incorporation of these new laws and ideas into society all came with their own consequences. Each
of them helped, in some way, to lessen the inequality of minority groupsin America, like students
whose primary languagewas not English, women, and handicapped children. They also faced
opposition by certain groups, who did not feel that their inclusion in American life was necessary.
Those fighting for the minorities, though, were steadfast in their... Show more content on

The third approach, bilingual education, suggested teaching the student s native language and
English equally.
According to Urban and Wagoner in American Education: A History, advocates of this last approach
sometimes emphasized biculturalism as well and bilingualism (ibid.).
These attempts were both supported and opposed by various parties.
Those who defended incorporation of bilingual education into American schools included
politicians and other Hispanic leaders, who were trying to prevent assimilation. Opposers included
teachers, Anglo politicians, and some
Hispanic intellectuals , who thought that it was important for the children to assimilate in to the
society (ibid.).
Women s rights activity also became popular in the 1960s, but did not have many large effects on
the schools. Teachers did not want to be involved with the feminists, and so the activists also
distanced themselves from the teachers. The hard work and determination of the feminists did
though, bring about the passing of the Title IX of the Higher Education Actin 1972 (ibid., 320).
This act instilled gender equality in institutions of higher education, and has played a monumental
role in regulating fairness among the sexes in colleges and universities. The Title IX

American Flag And The Lottery
During this quarter the readings that we have read this year so far all have something to do with
one very meaningful quote, We, as human beings, must be willing to accept people who are
different from ourselves . Each of these readings, American Flag, The lottery, and Texas V.
Johnson all relate to the one quote about accepting others who differ from ourselves and how we
need to be willing to accept them. These three readings all go back to the one quote you should
also always be able to have a opinion but also always be willing to accept others no matter what.

Johnson, was a decision of the Supreme Court of the United States. It invalidated prohibitions on
desecrating the American flag. Texas V. Johnson is a very important law in America because it
has to do with our country s flag that our veterans have fought for. The Supreme Court made the
decision that everyone is entitled to their own opinion for many reasons. It related to the quote
because Texas V. Johnson makes sure that no matter how different someone is or someone s
actions or feelings towards something is they will always be allowed to their own feelings
without fear of someone inhibiting it as long as what they re doing is not life threatening to
themselves or others, which is very important because many people have very strong feelings
towards our country s flag and this law is here to protect how everyone treats and feels towards
the flag because people can be defensive or hurtful since their feelings can be so strong towards
our nations flag considering what it means for our country. The Texas V. Johnson is also protected
by the first amendment and in lines (1 2) it says We decline, therefore, to create for the flag an
exception to the joust of principles protected by the first amendment . Under our constitution,

Television Violence Is Not the Problem Essay
Television Violence Is Not the Problem
We ve all heard the numbers on the amount of television that children watch and the amount of
violence that they re exposed to. In fact, sources that blame TV for children s conduct quote this
kind of data profusely. American children and adolescents spend 22 28 hours per week viewing
television more than any other activity except sleeping (_Effects of Television_). These kinds of
facts are strewn about with the hopes of convincing the public that television is to blame for
children s misbehaviors. Sources like these have one thing in common: They believe that if
television disappeared, so would many of kids aggressive behaviors. Though arguing whether or not
television is indeed an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Blame is shifted away from the parents of offenders and is put on television. This scapegoating can
create television ratings, editing and censoring but will not reduce the negative behaviors of
children. If a child acts on what they see from television, it is because they were not reared with
the same values as a child who does not act on what they saw on television. For example, there is
not much difference in the news about Kurt Cobain. If two children see it but only one shotguns
themselves, there is a difference in the values that were taught.
Television portrays violence all the time but so do a number of other things. Books, for
example, have more radical information and ideas than television could ever depict. The tales in
books are far more juicier and interesting than could ever be portrayed by _The X Files_ or _The
Simpsons_. But we do not see the influences of books being executed in life, only those of TV.
Copycat crimes have been related to TV and movies, not books. This is for the simple reason that
TV is easier to access and is easier to pay attention to. This only proves that television is blamed
because it happens to be the medium that is most easily accessible; it is a victim of circumstance.
Distinguishing the various programs available for viewing proves that TV is a scapegoat. There
are lots of violent and shocking programs and there are ones that have little

Deception In Twelfth Night Essay
Shakespeare s play Twelfth Night is based off the traditional Christian holiday a day on which
the normality of the world is turned upside down. On this particular day, the normal order of
things is disrupted and the social standings of lower and upper social class members are reversed.
The title is delightfully fitting for the play, as the storyline is comprised of comical disruption
within the social decorum of Illyria. In this essay, I will examine how the carnival atmosphere of
the Twelfth Nightholiday is reflected in the way the play is constructed. Shakespeare introduces a
topsy turvy world where metaphoric boundaries are crossed with the created ambiguity of gender
and the act of deception. The use of literary devices such as dramatic... Show more content on

General confusion arises due to the deceptive actions of several characters in the play. A notable
act of deception in the play is seen when Maria and Sir Toby play a trick on the head servant,
Malvolio. They are successful in misleading him to act strangely, which convinces everyone that
he has gone mad. In the hopes of wooing his master Olivia, Malvolio starts behaving strangely.
He begins to wear yellow stockings and smiles excessively; behaviours that are all
uncharacteristic of his usual prude and stern self. The prank is extremely convincing, to the
point that Maria describes his outlandish behaviour as a very renegade, for there is no Christian
that means to be saved by believing rightly can ever believe such impossible passages of
grossness, (3.2.66 69). Despite being the one who tricked Malvolio, Maria cannot believe what
she is seeing and compares his behaviour as someone who has lost his Christian faith.
Otherwise, she cannot simply believe that anyone in their right mind would believe the
statements made in the fake love letters. Here, we see how a simple act of deception has
disrupted normalcy as this character is supposedly going mad . In another scene, deception
breeds chaos once again when Sir Toby encourages Sir Andrew to battle Cesario to win Olivia s
heart. Despite the fact that neither party wanted to fight and was in fact terrified at the very idea,
Sir Toby continues to cause conflict by stirring up an altercation that was nonexistent to begin with.
To compound such deceptive actions, Viola s pretense as a pageboy creates further confusion
when her brother Sebastian appears at the end of the play. The mistaken identity becomes
troublesome when Antonio is arrested in front of Cesario and when Sebastian married Olivia. In
both cases, because of past lies, other characters are misled to think that an act of betrayal

Carbapenem Research Paper
Carbapenem resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE)
1.) What is the organism?
CRE, which stands for carbapenem resistant Enterobacteriaceae, are a family of germs that are
difficult to treat because of their resistance to certain antibiotics such as carbapenem. This is often
found in people s gastrointestinal tract that can cause infections, both in the community and
healthcare settings.
2.) What is colonization of the specific organism?
The organism can be found on the body, but it is not causing any symptoms or disease. Colonizing
CRE strains can go on to cause infections if they gain access to body sites that are usually sterile
like the bladder, the lungs, or the bloodstream.

5.) How they can be spread?
CRE can be spread from person to person through direct contact from person to person or
contaminated surface, particularly contact with wounds or stool. It has been found in acute and
long term care facilities on sinks, stethoscopes and name badges. When CRE enters into the body,
through medical devices like ventilators, intravenous catheters, urinary catheters, or wounds caused
by injury or surgery and can also cause infection.
6.) What are additional precautions in the hospitals and at home?
Washing hands when enter and leave the room Carefully cleaning and disinfecting rooms and
medical equipment and minimize the use of medical equipment Visitors and hospital staff should
wear gloves and a gown before entering the room of a CRE patient and remove before leaving the

The Causes of Hyperthyroidism Essay
The thyroid gland is found in the front of the neck and produces two main hormones. The hormones
are called thuroxine (T4) and Triiodothyronine (T3). Together these hormones regulate the body s
metabolism by increasing energy use in cells, regulate growth and development, help to maintain
body temperature and aid in oxygen consumption. These two hormones are regulated by hormones
produced by the hypothalamus and pituitary gland. The hypothalamus senses changes in body s
metabolic rate and releases a hormone known as thyropin releasing hormone (TRH). This hormone
then flows through connecting vessels to the pituitary gland which signals it to release another
hormone. This hormone is known as thyroidstimulating hormone (TSH). TSH then makes... Show

The main cause of hyperthyroidism Graves disease which affects quite a few people in the general
population. This disease is characterized as an autoimmune disorder. This means that the body
makes antibodies known as thyroid stimulating immunoglobulin that bind and over activate the
production of thyroid hormones [3]. So in essence the antibody mimics the thyroid stimulating
hormone and when the negative feedback loop is in affect the antibody still binds to the thyroid
and T3 and T4 are over produced [2].
Thyroid nodules are lumps in the thyroid often called adenomas. These adenomas are quite
common affecting around seven percent our countries population. These lumps on the thyroid can
become very active and thus produce a large amount of thyroid hormone. In some cases
hyperthyroidism is brought on by consuming too much medication that treats an underactive
thyroid.
There are many causes of hyperthyroidism, but the symptoms of hyperthyroidism are the same no
matter what causes the over expression of thyroid hormones. The main symptoms of
hyperthyroidism are fatigue, shortness of breath, weak muscles, anxiety, difficulty sleeping and
heart palpitations. Interestingly, even with an increase in appetite the patient will have weight loss.
There are many factors that may increase the risk of acquiring hyperthyroidism. One of the most
important factors is that women are at a much higher risk of developing hyperthyroidism than men,
about ten fold higher risk than

The Second Amendment
To begin with, the Fourth Amendment was constituted to protect the people from unreasonable
searches and seizures. However, there are times and cases in which an investigation is started
and evidence is collected illegally. There are doctrines such as The Exclusionary Rule and Fruit
of the Poisonous Tree in place to eliminate any evidence to be used in court if obtained illegally.
This paper will differentiate the two doctrines as well explain how and why the two could
possibly be incorporated in the case of Who did it. We will also look into the immunity that
government officials may have pertaining to civil liability and see if officers affiliated with the

based on the original evidenced collected. The fruit of the poisonous tree doctrine is the aftermath
of not catching the mistake of the investigating officers. To better understand the two, an example
would be a cellphone being seized and search. The exclusionary rule would apply to this. However,
if there are messages that lead to a drug bust or trafficking then this would be the fruit of the

continuation, let us take look at would either the exclusionary rule or the fruit of the poisonous
tree doctrine apply to the Who did it case. There was vital evidence discovered in the search of
Mrs. Ellis s home that pointed William Ellis to the scene of the crime. In the initial search of the
home, a fingerprint was discovered beside the light switch by using amino acid, photographs and
a portable argon laser. This later lead to other facts that could answer a lot of questions. This
could be looked at in different directions. Some may say that yes, Mrs. Ellis did give consent

The Resurgence Of Social Unrest
On August 9, 2014, the resurgence of social unrest similar to the 1960s civil rights movement
began. Michael Brown, a black teenager in Ferguson, Missouri, was shot and killed by Darren
Wilson, a white police officer. Initially, the shooting had minor media attention, but it slowly
accumulated. As more media outlets shed light on the topic, many people, especially those in the
black community, suspected that the shooting was racially charged. After the shooting of Michael
Brown, more stories of unarmed black peoplebeing killed by white officers surfaced, suggesting
that the acts were not out of self defense, but rather racial prejudice. The increasing rate of race
related shootings suggests that ignorance is the root of these officers ... Show more content on

All five statements notably differed from Wilson s account.
Dorian Johnson, Brown s friend, was with him when Wilson stopped them near a local
convenience store. Johnson recounted that Wilson ordered him and Brown to walk on the
sidewalk. Wilson allegedly pulled Brown by the neck into his car, but Brown escaped Wilson s
grip before running away. Wilson stepped out of his car and shot at Brown resulting in Brown s
infamous hands up, don t shoot surrender (Eromosele, 5 Eyewitness Accounts of Michael Brown s
Shooting ). Johnson s report suggests that Wilson was not threatened by Mike Brown, and Michael
tried to surrender to the officer. Based on Johnson s account, Brown had not provoked Officer
Wilson or caused any major disturbances in order to be shot.
Tiffany Mitchell, Piaget Crenshaw, and Emmanuel Freeman retell similar narratives about the
struggle between Brown and Wilson. Mitchell observed the gunfire through her car window as
she awaited the arrival of Crenshaw. Crenshaw stood on her balcony as she witnessed Wilson s
pursuit of Brown; her crucial description included the detail that Brown s body was reversed from
the direction he ran because he attempted to inform Wilson that he was defenseless. Crenshaw s
point about the direction of Brown s body connects with Johnson s point that Brown faced the
officer to surrender. Freeman tweeted about the shots he overheard outside of his home. A

Manliness In Sports In Not Just A Game By Dave Zirin
Manliness in sports have always been present, as Dave Zirin describes, but it is even more present
when it comes to pain and recovery. With this combination of sports and manliness, it leads to the
militarization of football, and the blind devotion that the sport gives to the military.
In one of the segments in the video Not Just a Game, Dave Zirin introduces the concept of the
merger of manliness and sports. The central theme of this argument is that in order to be a real
man, one would have to sacrifice his body, and be even more vulnerable to injury (Zurin). This is
all to serve the ultimate goal, to win the game (Zurin). However, as stated in the film, this leads to

friendly fire with the story that Tillman died under enemy fire while charging up a hill (Zurin).

Sudden and Violent Shifting of Tectonic Plates Cause...
Earthquakes are a natural phenomena caused by the violent and sudden shifting of plates along
tectonic boundaries. Movement of tectonic plates releases stored energy producing seismic
waves, which travel through the solid rock of the upper layers of the earth s crust. Earthquakes
occur along belts, circum Pacific or Alpine, located near the edges of tectonic plates. Energy
released by the interaction between two plates can produce severe damage to the surrounding
environment. Earthquakes occur along tectonic plate boundaries and fault lines. Movement of
tectonic plates can be associated with three different types of boundaries: divergent, convergent,
and transform. The lithosphere forms the outer most layer of the earth s crust, which over lays a
hotter, softer layer called the asthenosphere. A divergent boundary is located along a margin
where two plates are moving away from one another. As the two plates move away from one
another magma flows up into the empty space, and forms a new section of the ocean floor. The
creation of a new sea floor along a divergent boundary produces oceanic ridges. The best know
example of this type of boundary is the mid Atlantic ridge. Convergent boundaries occur in area s
where two plates merge forcing the lithosphere below the asthenosphere. Once the lithosphere is
forced back down into the earth, it is melted and reused as magma volcanic arcs. This type of
boundary forms oceanic trenches. Transform boundary occurs when two continental

Hague Regulations Essay
The Hague Regulations The earliest developments in the law of armed conflict were based on the
assumption that in a war between two or more states, those who were legitimately entitled to take
up arms were the armed forces of those states. Thus armed forces was not a term which required
definition. Individual members of the armed forces were combatants, another term which was
treated as self evident. The rules of armed conflict therefore were to be applied to armies. It is
generally accepted by IHL experts that the first international attempt at defining combatants was
included in the International Declaration concerning the laws and Customs of War adopted in
Brussels in 1874. Even more recent studies assert without question that the... Show more content on

In terms of application, however, these conditions are provisions of the law which are fairly
marginal. The Brussels Declaration formed the basis of the definition of combatant which was
incorporated into Articles 1 and 3 of the Regulations annexed to the Hague Convention (II) with
Respect to the Laws and Customs of War on Land of 1899 and 1907. In a later development, the
Brussels/Hague provisions were incorporated into the 1949 Third Geneva Convention on
Prisoners of War, in order to establish the qualifications required to receive prisoner of war
treatment. Because there is no definition of combatant as such, it has always been difficult to say
whether only members of the armed forces are to be considered combatants. This problem is
compounded by the fact that the Hague definition provides that the armed forces can include non
combatants, with both categories being entitled to prisoner of war status. In other words, in the
Hague formulation, the term armed forces is not limited to those officially engaged in combat.
This provision of the Regulations implies that militias are part of the armed forces even though
they are not to be considered part of the army, unless the two terms are interchangeable. To sum up,
the Hague Regulations did not define the concept of combatant and left it up to each state to decide
which members of its armed forces were combatants and which were not.

Relationship Between The Child And Parent
Introduction In the two presented books, the main theme outlined in both texts is the theme of
relationship between the child and parent. Chinua Achebe in his book, Marriage is a Private Affair
developed this theme in the marriage perception outlining the conflict which occurred between a
father and his son (Achebe 22). On the other hand, Alice Walker in her book, Everyday Use,
developed a story of familywho consist of a motherand her two daughters. One of her daughters
proved to be rebellious and went against the family norms (Walker 47). This paper will outline
some of the similarities and differences in the parent child relationship in these two books. The
differences and similarities will be developed from the themes, settings and character traits of the
characters of the specific texts.
Comparison of the parent/child relationships in Everyday Use and Marriage Is a Private Affair In
comparing the relationship between parent and the child as evidenced in the texts, it clear that in
both cases the parents and the child tend to know each other perfectly. In many situations this is
naturally and as that is the first person a child interacts with. In focusing on the two texts, we find
that as much as Nene tries to convince Nnaemeka to write a letter to his father telling him about
their new life, he refuses since he knows his father better than Nene. He knows that it will shock

War Of The Worlds Comparison Essay
Old films for new
The films I have chosen to compare are `The War of the Worlds which are both in different era`s.
The original movie was created in 1953 and the latest version of the movie was created in 2005.
One of the first things I noticed was that in the older version of War of the Worlds, the mise en
scene is a lot darker, especially at the beginning of the film when the first alien lands on earth. This
creates a feeling of coldness and loneliness amongst the cast. This is a completely different concept
with Spielberg s version of the film, as he chooses a New York City mise en scene, which is filled
with a much faster pace of life as there is traffic and people everywhere. It also introduces all sorts
of drama, as the city itself is a very busy place.
In the 2005 version the narrator of the film that explains how the earth got invaded and what it is
invaded by is the actor Morgan Freeman. Morgan narrates the film in a calm but serious manner to
show the extent of what s going on. On the 1953 version ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Corruption And Corruption Of India
India the second most populated country in the world, is badly affected by corruption. This paper
analyses the serious problem of the corruption, how did it evolve, areas affected by corruption,
causes of corruption and how to combat corruption. Corruption is one of the largest element to be
found in most parts of the India. No individual can be free from it, there is no area which is free of
corruption. It emphasizes that lack of transparency, morality, accountability and consistency as well
as institutional weakness provide a fertile ground for the growth of corruption in India. It also

Both the parties in the exchange of power for privileges want their transaction to be a secret,
which makes it difficult to establish how widely and deeply corruption has penetrated into our
economy and social life. Below listed are some of the characteristics.
a) Recipients and payers.
b) Extortion.
c) Lubricant of society.
d) An ethical problem.
e) Poverty reduction.
Recipients and payers
Corruption is the abuse of entrusted power and elected authority for private profit. Complaints
are often heard about politicians and public officials who accept bribes and enrich themselves
privately at the expense of the common citizen. This may be at the expense of the employee or
the employer, consumer and the producer, the renter and the tenant, the one applying for a permit
or asking exemption from an obligation to pay or to deliver a product or service. All the cases
might be considered to be abuse of power authority for one s own benefit.
Extortion
Most of them go a step further. They not only blame the politicians but also the public officials
for willingly accepting the bribes. They often allege that those having authority in the society ask
to be bribed or give an opportunity to bribe. There is no escaping from it, if one refuses to pay, you
are bound to fall behind.
Lubricant of Society
Many believe that paying bribe is required to ensure smoother operation of the society. They think
that without an occasional gift, entering into a contract

Political Factions
For the majority of us, government often seems like nothing more than a distant and unrelatable
amalgamation of esoteric arguments and oceans of rules and regulations. Nevertheless, government
touches us all and not just during tax season. For better or worse, governments all over the world
form the backbone of society as we know it. For this reason, it becomes relevant for us as citizens
and residents to pose certain fundamental questions. The most significant being one that is
consequential to all civilized persons, What is the appropriate role of governmentin the lives of
citizens? Another overarching question particular to the United Statesis, What is the appropriate

The formation of Factions is a totally natural and to be expected. Different people want different
things. The two biggest examples of factions are the left and right sides of the political
spectrum. On one end, the left, you have the liberal people open to new and different ideas,
believe in the importance of helping each other, and believe that government needs to be
involved in social issues in order to provide equality. On the other end, the right, you have the
conservative people who are determined to uphold established ways of thinking, believe in the
importance of self reliance, and believe that government should stay out of social issues in order
to protect freedom. What happens when these two large factions do not agree? Absolutely
nothing, as demonstrated by today s government. Madison was worried about this problem and
asserted that it was necessary for a national government consisting of a single party to exist in
order to counteract the polarizing and paralyzing effects of factions among the states. As they act
as a further separation of power, factions do have their benefits. However, having the federal
government become a more party neutral environment could greatly help to avoid some of the
problems we see today; the federal government could keep the states and their factions in check and
make sure things actually get

Johnny Cash Meaning
An Ending to Johnny Cash s Life and Career Johnny Cash, The Man in Black was a legendary
singer and songwriter of country, rock, blues, folk, and gospel. He was a deeply religious man,
who loved Jesus and the Bible (Tomlinson). His musical career stretched roughly from 1954 to
his death in 2003. Throughout his life he faced many of his inner demons and hardships with his
music, and the word of god. One of his final songs recorded in 2002 The Man Comes Around is
perhaps his greatest song and speaks about his beliefs and what he thinks the near future holds. This
song encompasses the Book of Revelations, the coming of judgment day, some of his personal

It also shows that the public receive a view the court aspects of the sentencing, where the offender
may be perceived to have received a lenient sentence when convicted. This leads to the public not

The effect on the public is that if they are victims, there may be a reluctance to report matters to
the police in the first instance. This opens up a whole issue of problems for police, let alone

For vulnerable people within society, there are risks that their perceptions of crime within the

are that vulnerable people that are victims will continue to not to feel safe within their community,

Kids thrive off interaction with each other and playing . They need this interaction to grow socially,
physically, and mentally. When there playgrounds get torn down, mistreated, and rundown it
presents problems for these kids lives. The problem I am focusing on is the 9th Street Childrens
Park. The problem with it is that it s getting worn down and becoming a small hazard.
This problem has been becoming worse and worse over the past decade. Concerns have grown
with it as well. Parents are concerned about their children s safety, and I would have to both agree
and disagree. The main problem with the park is the main structure. The wood is untreated and the
bolts are well past starting to rust. Rust can turn metal sharp and increase the risk of injury and
could cause a serious emergency. The park is over 20 years old and in my lifetime I don t know of
any attempts to fix the problem until recently.
First and foremost the safety of our children must come first, and anything done must be done in
the best interest of them. But we should also be keeping a city treasure intact for them to enjoy
and for their kids to enjoy. My three part solution to the problem is to move ahead with temporary
closing of the park, but for the purpose of a renovation. The second part of the solution is to ... Show

problems than a playground. We as a community can do what we feel is right for our children. We
owe it to our children to keep this park intact and safe to play on. We need to think of more
solutions to fix this problem and go to city meetings to peacefully protest our opinion on this

Chinese Discrimination In Australia Essay
Imagine yourself moving to a different country which has a completely different culture to yours
and the people there who you thought would be kind and peaceful, abuse you regularly and belittle
you as much as possible. You become the target of prejudice and racist attitudes by both European
and the Australian government. These are the hardships and the forms of racism faced by the
Chinese from the Europeans upon arriving in Australiafrom 1800.
In 1851, gold was discovered in Australia. The Victorian gold rush attracted a great number of
immigrants all over the world. A small group of Chinese miners left Hong Kong and arrived in
Melbourne in 1852, returning to China rich in 1853. These men spread the word and gathered their

They made no attempt to become part of the local community and did not mix with the mining
population. The Chinese sent gold back to China which indicated their intention of eventually
returning home. However this also created dissatisfaction and jealousy among the European miners.
The European objections to the Chinese were both racist and economic. The Chinese were
hardworking which made them look slack. They were the target of racist attitudes of both European
gold miners and the Australian government of the time. The Chinese were regarded as an inferior
race and were often unfairly blamed for many things not of their doing. They were resented as
much for their hard work and success as their different culture. These resentments turned into
unnoticeable violence at times. The Chinese were seen initially as oddities, later as competitors and
then as a danger to white Australia.
The Europeans criticized the Chinese for a number of reasons. The Chinese muddied the water that
was needed for washing gold. They went through the left over mining rubble or tailings which
Europeans needed to fall back upon in times of hardship. Suspicion of Chinese dress, customs,
religion and their vices, both real and imagined and like the Aborigines, the Chinese were
considered inferior, for the Europeans confused cultural differences with their own ideas of

Man s Fate
Satre defines existence as absurd and having no purpose, but through the absurdity you must make
your own meaning of your life. You cannot depend on anyone else, you must depend on yourself.
Existentialism is the theory that you, as a person, control your own actions. Throughout Man s
Fate, Malraux, exemplifies many ideas of existentialism. The characters in Man s Fate believe that
their identities are defined through the actions they display. Especially in the time frame the novel
is written, during the Chinese Revolution. The characters believe their actions throughout the
revolution define who they are as a person, and will bring honor to their names.

All animals deserve the opportunity to run free in their natural habitat. Lions should be able to

survival. Maybe that was Chris s point, he went out there to show people how difficult it was to

One of the most known and learned aspects of his story would be to know before a person goes

took anything into the wild and it might have been because he was only going to stay for one

knowledge and supplies for what they are going to do. Another thing that could be learned from
Chris s story would be to never judge a person without getting to know them. Whenever Chris got

Women s Experience Of Postnatal Care
Statistics and data have shown that women are less satisfied with the care they receive post natal
compared to the care they receive during antenatal and throughout labour including those women
who receive caseload midwifery care (Forster et al., 2016). Thus, this assignment will focus on
some aspects of care that influence a women s experience of postnatalcare and changes that can be

addition, there will be a discussion about the role of the midwife in providing postnatal care that

High Gas Prices In California
For Californians, a trip out of state comes with many surprises, one of them being gas prices. As
any amateur economist knows the reason for the staggering prices is due to additional taxes added

fuel and not one of them is forgiving to buyers. According to a recent Wall Street Journal article,
gas prices in the state are well above the national average due to the harsh regulations of the

There has been some talk about an oil extraction tax. With this tax in place, it would force
companies to fork out more of the tax instead of the consumer. If higher taxes are put in place for
the producer ultimately they are not the ones paying the higher price the consumer is. Either
way producers will receive revenue and in order to do that they will just raise their prices. The
demand for fuel is based on necessity forcing consumers to pay outrageous prices because they
need it. In addition to the tax, oil companies would have to disclose more information about their
supplies and prices. Since the companies have market power, some believe with the tax in place it
would reduce the price of the good.
If there is anything that must be said, more taxes equal higher prices. The only way to lower gas
prices is through reducing taxes and regulation. Many argue that the regulations in place in the
state of California are over the top and unnecessary. There has never been a time in human history
that more taxes resulted in lower prices. The oil extraction tax is a disastrous plan that would only

Should Victorian High Schools Repeal VCE Exams
I m sure every student here today would agree that not having to take VCE exams is a pretty good
idea. Repealing VCE exams would be a radical change for any high school. Acknowledgement from

High school students face a stressful and strenuous time and are challenged by the vigorous
preparation for VCE exams. The do or die VCE exams students face is a crisis time for them,
instead of thinking about their graduation. Expecting students to take these exams is unfair due to
its numerous reasons of unfairness and should not take place. The Victorian school board should
repeal these exams.
Students do not learn in the same way, they are individuals. Thankfully for society, students bring to
schools all kinds of intellect. Some students excel academically, others are artistic talents and others
have vocational talents that VCE exams do not take into consideration or measure.
The focus of my arguments for repealing VCE exams is that:
Necessary funding for schools consistently rears its ugly head and these exams prove to be very
expensive. I believe, very much a waste of money. The money could be better spent on school
materials like books, computers, and other necessary supplies. The allocated funding could also be
well spent on hiring more teachers, so that classes could be smaller and students receive more

The Literal Approach Of Contract
Essay A When interpreting a contract, the literal approach is often taken to determine what was
meant by the contract. The literal approach to contract interpretation means that when looking
over a contract, words are assigned their ordinary meaning. Words are interpreted literally, as they
ordinarily would be, regardless of the presumed context. However, giving words their ordinary
meaning without adjusting for the context of the situation may cause problems. An example
would be when a business places a clause in a contract proclaiming that any fees or costs
associated with, say, the hourly cost of renting equipment, are subject to change without notice.
This contract would cause problems should the fees suddenly be raised by an exorbitant amount
because the literal approach would side with the business as they literally state that they could
alter their fees at any time without any notice, and they reserve the right to change prices as they
see fit. If, in the example given previously, the business hiked rental fees from $5,000 to $50,000
per year, the literal approach could be taken and be fully justifiable but could be problematic.
Clearly, a reasonable person would see that a tenfold increase is completely unreasonable, but the
literal approach would defend this. Therefore, it would be important to look at the other three forms
of contractual interpretation to decide this matter. The contextual approach would result in a
sharply different interpretation of a contract

To help ensure national security, the Army sent four man teams to all ten of War Relocation
Authority internment camps where 110,000 Japanese Americans and Japanese aliens were
incarcerated ( The War ). The mission of the white and Japanese American non commissioned
officer teams was to introduce the volunteer program and answer questions. The visiting team
emphasized the new unit would consolidate loyal Japanese American soldiers, allow them to
become a heroic symbol of democracy admired worldwide, help return camp occupants to a normal
lifestyle, and ensure an expression of the dignity of American citizenship. The prepared remarks
concluded, the proof of a nation s good faith is to be found in whether it moves to restore full
privileges at the earliest opportunity ( 442nd Regimental Combat Team. the 442.org, 2015). Visits
by Hawaiian/U.S. soldiers to the internment camps convinced those incarcerated that these were
men to be respected for their willingness to fight in spite of the trampling of their rights and the
unconstitutional incarceration of their families

Music As Intellectual Property Summary
Music as intellectual property
The readings explore the concept of music as intellectual property and delve into the many issues
that consequently arise in the practice of musical borrowing or quoting, digital sampling and the
Digital rights management control over netizens .
Mc Leod introduces the issue of musical sampling as a copyright infringement with the example
of Danger mouse and his tribute to The Beatles and Jay Z in his Grey Album. As fans were
warned to cease and desist the author discusses cyber civil disobedience by providing a brief intro
to musique concrete as a pioneer of later cutting edge music as Danger mouse.
Mc leod describes Danger mouse use of preexisting music as sampled reinterpretation.
Under the current copyright ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By providing several musical examples ranging from Sinead O Connor to Lansky, he presents the
argument of digital samples as an art form where unlike musical quotations, a performance is what
is being borrowed resulting in a metamorphosis of the sample as it is presented in a new theme.
Yet isn t there something fundamentally different between such traditional acts of borrowing and
digital sampling? It is sometimes said that while a quotation is simply a representation of another
piece, a sampled passage of music is that music. But that depends on what the meaning of is is .
In the above statement, Katz brings us back the quintessential debate on what constitutes music, the
score, the sounds, recording, etc. By presenting musical example of centuries of musical quotations
such as L homme arme mass or Dies Irae, he underlines the differences between a musical quotation
and sampling
By breaking down Notjustmoreidlechatter by Lansky he challenges our perception on where
interpretation lies in a composition. Lansky s piece, he argues, makes the listener an active
interpreter since lanky has cut out the performer.

A Method Of Preventing School Shootings
A method of preventing school shootings would be to acknowledge risk factors that the student
is facing. For example, bullying is a risk factor for school shootings. In a research study done in
2001 of 37 school shootings, it was reported that 75% of the school shooters felt bullied,
threatened, or injured by others in which most of the shooters in the report had experienced long
term bullying and harassment from their peers (Duplechain Morris, 2014). In addition, the
authors do state: School personnel too often accept that children get teased and bullied every day,
because teachers, parents, students, and other adults have grown up thinking that bullying is a
normal part of school life. It has easily become an accepted part of today s school culture (Ibid,
2014). The authors believe that schools view bullying as something that students should get used
to. This does show how bullying is an issue in schools. It is not solely to blame in regards to
school shootings, but is a risk factor for them. Relationships and past traumas are risk factors for
school shootings (Duplechain Morris, 2014). The author states in regards to relationships and
school shootings
The lack of attachment with their parents or caregivers at the beginning of their life to some of the
school shooters. Sueng Hui Cho, who was the shooter of the Virginia Tech Massacreon April 16,
2007 suffered from this kind of risk factor. Cho did not communicate with his parents or those
around him (Ibid,

Comparison And Contrast Of The Shepherd And The Nymph
Christopher Blake Martinez Mrs. Doorway Shepherd Nymph Essay 27 September 2017
Comparison and Contrast of The Shepherd The Nymphs A comparison and contrast of The
Passionate Shepherd to His Love and The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd reveal that these poems
both have different viewpoints on love, nature, time and the material world. In this essay, I will be
presenting how the Shepherd and the Nymph both have totally different views on love, nature,
time and the material world. In the two poems, the shepherd and the nymph both have distinctly
opposing views of love. talks about love. The shepherd believes that love will never die. He
thinks that love will live forever and will always be pure and young. An example of this is seen
in ВЁFor thy delight each May morning (line 22.) He is offering his love, and saying that he will
always show and prove his love to her. In the ВЁNymph s replyВЁ she says that she doesn t
believe that the shepherd thinks about life and how as life goes on you will lose love for
someone, it may be that you love them, but you re not in love with them the life you were when
your journey first began. She knows and understands how feelings and love will die out. It
shows in ВЁIf all the world and love were youngВЁ(line 1). In both of the poems, both the
shepherd and the nymph have distinctly opposing views of nature. The shepherd loves the
nature and how beautiful it is, he believes that nature will always be beautiful. He promises her a
bed of roses and a life of enjoying nature to its fullest. He shows this in ВЁAnd we will have the
pleasures prove, That valleys, groves, hills, and fields. Woods, or steepy mountains
yields.ВЁ(lines 1 4). In the ВЁnymph s replyВЁ she says how the shepherd may promise all of
this from nature, but she understands that nature isn t always beautiful and nature dies. Things
in nature will only last for a little while, then they die and new are born again. She says this in
ВЁThe flowers do fade, and wanton fieldsВЁ(line 9). In these poems, the shepherd and the
nymph have different views on time. The shepherd thinks that time will never move and time is
always going to be good and not ever be a bad time in your life. He shows this in ВЁAnd we will
all the pleasures

Character Analysis of Rose Rose holds the Maxson family together as if she was the glue of the

the bad things in order to stay positive. Rose always has something to eat laying around the
kitchen for anyone and everyone that is in the Maxson house even if they are not family. Rose,
Troy s foil, brings out the good in Troy, and she does her best to keep him from doing things he
should not do. Rose keeps the Maxson family together with her kind and loving heart. Rose is a

Well come on...I ll make a batch of biscuits, (26). Rose steadily tries to be the best mother that
she can be for the Maxson family and not just take care of herself. She represents the primary care
giver of the Maxson household by cooking for everybody and bringing the whole family in together
to eat. Okay, Troy...you re right. I ll take care of your baby for you...cause...like you say...she s
innocent...and you can t visit the sins of the father upon the child. A motherless child has got a
hard time, (79). By Rose saying and doing this, it just proves how loving and tender hearted she
is. Even though Rose is not the child s mother, she still wants what is best for the baby. Stop that
yelling. You gonna wake up Raynell. I just got her to sleep, (80). This shows that Rose has fully
accepted Raynell as her daughter. Rose does not see Raynell as just Troy s daughter but also
hers too. Rose says, talking about Lyons, Let the boy have ten dollars, Troy, (19). This shows
how loving and caring Rose acts towards Troy s son. Rose and Troy clearly do not have enough
money to be giving it out, but she encourages Troy to give some to Lyons because she cares
about everyone. Rose is a very good hearted person who uses all of her characterisitcs to keep
everyone in the family together and keep them in check. Rose does all she can to keep Troy in
good situations and not let him make a fool of himself. Troy what is wrong with you this

The Pros And Cons Of Wireless Connections
Our society is becoming more and more reliant on wireless connections. The ability for both
employees and consumers to connect wirelessly is a must in this day and age for businesses.
Because of this, strict security policies must be put in place in order to keep the business and its
data secure. This paper will discuss the pros and cons of wirelessconnections, the need for
authenticationand six top threats that companies should be aware of and how to prevent them.
It seems that everything is wireless nowadays. Nobody wants cords to drag them down and keep
them in a specific location anymore and it s easy to see why. Convenience, simple as that. No
need to carry those pesky Ethernet cable around anymore or be confined to a single area to
connect to the network. Even though wireless has become more and more popular, there is still
the need for large businesses to take a look at the pros and cons. From a business point of view,
some of the best pros of a wireless network according to American EHR are the ease of
installation, mobility and cost. Setting up a wireless connection is relatively simple and takes
much less time than a wired network. The ease of mobility is a plus as well. Employees can
bring their laptops to the conference room and access the network without the need of wires. A
big benefit is the low cost of wireless and that will often times make any CEO s ears perk if they
hear the phrase save money. These are just a few of the positives of a wireless

Case Analysis Of American Apparel
Background
Dov Charney, who rose to profitability as a T shirt by applying unique business model, founded
American Apparel in 1997. Company s headquarters and manufacturing facility were located at the
same building in downtown Los Angeles, with Charney paying his workers high salaries and
providing all inclusive benefits. While the costs of manufacturing process were significantly higher
than other company s, the company made itself capable to grow by applying vertically integrated
structure. In this structure all features of business operations were combined for maximum
efficiency and speed of production.
However, since 2000 company was continuously doubling sales, therefore American Apparel

Passion, innovation ethical practices for the clothing industry. That s American Apparel.
Apparel workers paid up to 50 times more than the competition
(At American Apparel they call it Sweatshop Free , term they coined in 2002)
They make their own product
(They have the belief of integration of their manufacturing; distribution and creative process keep
their company more efficient than those that rely on offshore or onshore sub contracting)
New standard others will follow
(They are confident that they will prove that vertical integration is a valuable business model that
can work even better than the status quo model of continuous outsourcing)
Environmental commitment
(By concentrating their entire operations within a few square miles, American Apparel has a
smaller carbon footprint than their competitors)
There are several other clothing and footwear makers that are trying to compete with exploitive
mega corporations. An inspiration for developing and applying this vertical integration business
model Charney found in the magazine Adbuster. The Adbuster magazine sough to change the
power structure within the companies, along with the exploitative norms that have been present

Summary Of Ron Gamer s Winter Chance Walking In Wolf Tracks
The book Winter Chance Walking in Wolf Tracks by Ron Gamer is a great book on how it ties
to the environment. This boy 14 years old goes out on a ice fishing and camping trip overnight
and gets lost he forgot to pack his food so he has none. His friend Seth works hard to try and find
him. In this book and in real life it is very important to preserve the land around you and to
protect our animal species and not be a poacher.. It is very important to stay on the trail during
snowmobiling so then you don t hurt anything under or above the snow. If there is a baby pine
tree growing then you run it over it with the track of the sled it could kill the tree. Maybe a farmer

Sears Holdings Corp. (SHLD) SWOT Analysis, Porter s Five...
Our recommendation is to take Sears Holdings Corp. (SHLD) private through a private equity
buyout. After doing so, we recommend implementing a centralized management structure and
recruiting retail savvy executives for the upper management team. We then recommend focusing on
increasing value by capitalizing on SHLD s real estate holdings through leasing agreements and
increasing partnerships with complementary enterprises. Also, we recommend improving employee
retention rates and retaining exclusive rights to private brands. Finally, we recommend focusing on
a long term strategy to continue to maximize SHLD s ecommerce platforms. We believe these
recommendations will lead to long term stability through increases in customer base and... Show

Additionally, Sears inventory turnover is equal to 148 days, which is more than 2x the industry
average of 65 days. Finally, Sears Holdings quick ratio is .20, which indicates potential for a
liquidity crunch because its liquid assets cannot pay off its current liabilities in a crisis.
Opportunities One of the opportunities for SHDL to explore is to expand in to other nations,
particularly emerging markets. Another opportunity is to expand is to accelerate the growth of
SHLD s ecommerce programs, which only represents 3% of its revenues, especially as the
industry is slowly shifting from brick and mortar to brick and click format. Lastly, SHLD has an
opportunity to lease floor space out to companies who can increase traffic into the store. Threats
One threat to SHLD is its competition with many retailers because it is not very differentiated
from its competitors and lacks brand loyalty, thus nothing is stopping the customer from
overlooking Sears and visiting a rival retailer. Another threat is a downturn in the economy which
could wreck havoc on SHLD s financial position. Porter s Five Forces Analysis Threat of new
entrants is relatively low. There are high barriers to entry in the discount retail market, including
high capital costs, limited access to investors, and a largely crowded out market place. Threat of
substitutions

Insanity In Hamlet And Ophelia
William Shakespeare is a very well known writer. He wrote the plays Hamlet and Macbeth, which
are two of his most famous. There are many characters and ideas in both plays that you can
compare and contrast. A main concept in both plays is the idea of insanity. Insanity is when
madness takes over the brain and becomes uncontrollable (Howes, 2009). Two characters that
display insanity are Lady Macbeth and Ophelia. In both of Shakespeare plays, Macbeth and Hamlet
insanity is displayed in different ways between the characters Lady Macbeth and Ophelia, and
affects them with what provokes them, their strength, and their outcome.
Insanity originates from different experiences. The mental illness can be triggered from various
reasons like stress,

how you will share and store audio files. Ideally, your company will advise all incoming callers
either through an automated IVR system or call center staff trained to answer each call with a
script that never varies. Financial considerations drive the decision to record, or not record
telephone call traffic. For one thing, the costs of winning a lawsuit can be almost as burdensome as
losing a legal challenge. Another key consideration is the impact an IVR may have on customer
satisfaction and personalized service. In the end, investing in integrated call capturing technology

Importance Of Travel To Travel Essay
Family, new experiences and memories are three things I get from buying a ticket to travel.
Buying a ticket to travel outside the country can open so many doors and can teach you a lot
from the other places you visit. My whole life I have been traveling in and out of mexico and
that is my favorite place to go. Growing up getting use to going to Mexico I paid little attention to
what was actually going on when i would travel. Traveling truly meant getting away from reality,
having freedom, and getting to know yourself better. These three things have been developing
every time i would travel and will continue every single time i continue to repeat the pattern. Many
new possibilities can appear just by buying a single ticket that can help you view everything
differently in a matter of time.
Getting the news from my parents that they had already bought the flight tickets was almost as
important as the day of actually getting there. I remember my favorite part was being able to see
the ticket that gave me motivation to perform my best at everything I did the last couple of days
that i was still here because i knew that soon in would be able to spend time with my family.
Spending time with my family has always been by far my favorite thing to do when I am in mexico
because it is not a everyday thing where i can go visit my grandparents. As i spend time with
them i get to learn a lot of where my parents came from and i get to know myself better as well i

Cosmos Plant Hydration Lab Report
The graphs and data shows the progression of the Cosmos plant while being hydrated with three
different solutions: water, lemon, and baking soda. They all have different pH levels and affect the
rate of growth. The quantitative data shows the height of the plants. Based on the data table, the
water or neutral pH had the most height, then lemon juice, and lastly the baking soda mixture. The
baking soda mixture left the plants dead after the fourteenth day of the experiment. The data shows
that each plantgrew from 1 2.5 inches everytime they were checked. This can be represented by
trial one of water when the sprout grew from 3.5 inches to 5 inches. Based on the qualitative data,
the baking soda plants showed little growth and progressively... Show more content on

The Cosmos flower was used to test this. Water has a neutral pH which is generally the best
substance for any type of plant to grow and be healthy. However, the Cosmos also grows well
when hydrated with a more acidic substance. When hydrated with a substance that is more of
abase, it will not grow successfully, which is proven by the data since they died after the third
check and became wilted. The hypothesis was not proven because the plants watered with the
acidic lemon juice grew more successfully than base substance, which was predicted to keep the
plants healthy. The tallest plants that grew was hydrated with water and was 13 inches tall and the
shortest living plant was hydrated with the baking soda solution and was 2 inches tall. The control
of this experiment was the plant, the Cosmos Bipinnatus because it did not change. The amount of
time passed in days was changing, which makes it the independent variable. The dependent
variable was the height of the plant, along with its overall health. After composing the procedure,
it was observed that the measurements were off, which was an experimental error. The mixture
between baking and water was too thick and did not saturate the soil. This could have caused the
plants to die more quickly and the pH may not have affected the data as much if it weren t for this

Jim Jones Shooting Essay
Jim Jones had many jobs before he became leader of the peoples temple. As a child he spent
much of his time alone. He began preaching at 10 years old after going on weekly trips to church
with a neighbor of his. He continued his strong religious beliefs when moved to Indianapolis
with his mother. Jones became a minister at a local church and held racially integrated services
to the church s displeasure. During the mid 1950 s Jones opened his first church of The People s
Temple while still living in Indiana. As the cult grew in the 60 s Jones relocated to Northern
California and soon after opened churches in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Followers of the
People s Temple often referred to him as father or Dad .

The days leading up to the suicides are vastly important in Jones twisted reasoning in the decision
to make over 900 people commit suicide in the town pavilion. It started after reports of sexual,
mental and physical abuse in Jonestown had been reported to the US government. After hearing
this news Congressman Leo Ryan was flown into Guyana on November 14th with 31 others
including news reporters, photographers and worried relatives of The People s Temple members.
Entry into Jonestown was denied for three days before the group was welcomed into the town
with dinner and entertainment for the night on November 17th 1978. Throughout the night
members of the group were handed notes from Jonestown citizens asking for help defecting from
the cult. The next day the visitors began to leave Jonestown with the defecting members of the
cult, this sent Jones into a panic, he believed that the end was near for himself and The Peoples
Temple. Jones sent gunmen to kill the congressman and other visitors before they could leave,
only a handful of 5 people were shot and killed, including Leo Ryan. Jones then called for a White
Night; getting nurses to create a concoction of Kool Aid/Flavour Aid and Cyanide; an extremely

Thucydides Grievances Research Paper
However, there needs to be a consideration when evaluating this source that Thucydides was a
native and patriotic Athenian. This should be examined as a possible bias in the how the Delian
and Peloponnesian leagues are portrayed in both the long term reason and short term grievances. It
could be argued that because of this bias, Athens was therefore presented in a more favourable light
in being targets of Spartan scheming, forcing their hand in their actions of the four grievances, and
therefore the real reason could in fact be the short term causes presented. However I do not think
that this negates the truth of Thucydidesreal long term reason of Spartan fear. Spartan had long held
the authority of being the major Greek military power

Repeatedly ask when other seems to listen to us or when their non verbal communication show fretfulness. This question is as the time surprising and normal, pushing to deliver what we hide inside us. To say the unsaid, to show the unseen thus to exhibit the intrinsic thought. I used to think about the world. Yes, the world, this place that we humans live in. In this extent what is the proper definition of world? It is only a place or it can be defined as the people who inhabit in. Is the people only related to merely us humans or it is much more extend? Could we categorize the animals as people or this name can only be attributed to us? Could the word people change its meaning depending of the context and have a connotation to characterize other outside humans. Or should I be clever and called the others outside humanby their name already establish such as animals and plants, water, air? But do those name reflect what they are? Are they enough pejorative meaning in those names to reveal its importance? Or did I add some pathetic sense in their name to illustrate their so called their miniature and insignificant importance in the whole that we call world? We could say that we care about them and their name reflect what they are. It s not incredibly uncommon to hear of someone s experience with separation anxiety over their mobile device. and although this may be common nature and just scream of the attachment issues we ve developed with each new technological advancement becoming available on the market, the preeminent problem is security. The deceit in the system is clear to see. We lock our doors as a method of protecting ourselves in our homes and vehicles, but what measure provides the same sense of security online? The passwords we create that are intended to be a minimum of eight characters, include a number as well as at least one capital letter, or special character has to be something that we can remember and have committed to memory. The issue with this lies within the frequency of of repetitive use of the same keyword /phrase. Director of IT for Bud Clary Automotive and Senior Emerging Security Technology Engineer Consultant for Nike, Inc., Sherry Carpenter, provides insight on the subject, With just over three billion people accessing the internet everyday it s proven to be immensely important to have firewalls, encryption tactics and Intrusion Prevention Systems in place to secure a network from malicious traffic (including viruses, malware, ransomware, etc.)... • 5. The Fight for Bilingual Education and Women’s Rights in... The Civil Rights movement, during the 1960s and 1970s, created many changes for both American society and its schools. The transformations were the result of such movements as Bilingual Education, women s rights activity, and the passing of the Public Law 94 142 legislation. The incorporation of these new laws and ideas into society all came with their own consequences. Each of them helped, in some way, to lessen the inequality of minority groupsin America, like students whose primary languagewas not English, women, and handicapped children. They also faced opposition by certain groups, who did not feel that their inclusion in American life was necessary. Those fighting for the minorities, though, were steadfast in their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The third approach, bilingual education, suggested teaching the student s native language and English equally. According to Urban and Wagoner in American Education: A History, advocates of this last approach sometimes emphasized biculturalism as well and bilingualism (ibid.). These attempts were both supported and opposed by various parties. Those who defended incorporation of bilingual education into American schools included politicians and other Hispanic leaders, who were trying to prevent assimilation. Opposers included teachers, Anglo politicians, and some Hispanic intellectuals , who thought that it was important for the children to assimilate in to the society (ibid.). Women s rights activity also became popular in the 1960s, but did not have many large effects on the schools. Teachers did not want to be involved with the feminists, and so the activists also distanced themselves from the teachers. The hard work and determination of the feminists did though, bring about the passing of the Title IX of the Higher Education Actin 1972 (ibid., 320). This act instilled gender equality in institutions of higher education, and has played a monumental role in regulating fairness among the sexes in colleges and universities. The Title IX ... • 6. American Flag And The Lottery During this quarter the readings that we have read this year so far all have something to do with one very meaningful quote, We, as human beings, must be willing to accept people who are different from ourselves . Each of these readings, American Flag, The lottery, and Texas V. Johnson all relate to the one quote about accepting others who differ from ourselves and how we need to be willing to accept them. These three readings all go back to the one quote you should also always be able to have a opinion but also always be willing to accept others no matter what. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Johnson, was a decision of the Supreme Court of the United States. It invalidated prohibitions on desecrating the American flag. Texas V. Johnson is a very important law in America because it has to do with our country s flag that our veterans have fought for. The Supreme Court made the decision that everyone is entitled to their own opinion for many reasons. It related to the quote because Texas V. Johnson makes sure that no matter how different someone is or someone s actions or feelings towards something is they will always be allowed to their own feelings without fear of someone inhibiting it as long as what they re doing is not life threatening to themselves or others, which is very important because many people have very strong feelings towards our country s flag and this law is here to protect how everyone treats and feels towards the flag because people can be defensive or hurtful since their feelings can be so strong towards our nations flag considering what it means for our country. The Texas V. Johnson is also protected by the first amendment and in lines (1 2) it says We decline, therefore, to create for the flag an exception to the joust of principles protected by the first amendment . • 7. Television Violence Is Not the Problem Essay Television Violence Is Not the Problem We ve all heard the numbers on the amount of television that children watch and the amount of violence that they re exposed to. In fact, sources that blame TV for children s conduct quote this kind of data profusely. American children and adolescents spend 22 28 hours per week viewing television more than any other activity except sleeping (_Effects of Television_). These kinds of facts are strewn about with the hopes of convincing the public that television is to blame for children s misbehaviors. Sources like these have one thing in common: They believe that if television disappeared, so would many of kids aggressive behaviors. Though arguing whether or not television is indeed an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Blame is shifted away from the parents of offenders and is put on television. This scapegoating can create television ratings, editing and censoring but will not reduce the negative behaviors of children. If a child acts on what they see from television, it is because they were not reared with the same values as a child who does not act on what they saw on television. For example, there is not much difference in the news about Kurt Cobain. If two children see it but only one shotguns themselves, there is a difference in the values that were taught. Television portrays violence all the time but so do a number of other things. Books, for example, have more radical information and ideas than television could ever depict. The tales in books are far more juicier and interesting than could ever be portrayed by _The X Files_ or _The Simpsons_. But we do not see the influences of books being executed in life, only those of TV. Copycat crimes have been related to TV and movies, not books. This is for the simple reason that TV is easier to access and is easier to pay attention to. This only proves that television is blamed because it happens to be the medium that is most easily accessible; it is a victim of circumstance. Distinguishing the various programs available for viewing proves that TV is a scapegoat. There are lots of violent and shocking programs and there are ones that have little ... • 8. Deception In Twelfth Night Essay Shakespeare s play Twelfth Night is based off the traditional Christian holiday a day on which the normality of the world is turned upside down. On this particular day, the normal order of things is disrupted and the social standings of lower and upper social class members are reversed. The title is delightfully fitting for the play, as the storyline is comprised of comical disruption within the social decorum of Illyria. In this essay, I will examine how the carnival atmosphere of the Twelfth Nightholiday is reflected in the way the play is constructed. Shakespeare introduces a topsy turvy world where metaphoric boundaries are crossed with the created ambiguity of gender and the act of deception. The use of literary devices such as dramatic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... General confusion arises due to the deceptive actions of several characters in the play. A notable act of deception in the play is seen when Maria and Sir Toby play a trick on the head servant, Malvolio. They are successful in misleading him to act strangely, which convinces everyone that he has gone mad. In the hopes of wooing his master Olivia, Malvolio starts behaving strangely. He begins to wear yellow stockings and smiles excessively; behaviours that are all uncharacteristic of his usual prude and stern self. The prank is extremely convincing, to the point that Maria describes his outlandish behaviour as a very renegade, for there is no Christian that means to be saved by believing rightly can ever believe such impossible passages of grossness, (3.2.66 69). Despite being the one who tricked Malvolio, Maria cannot believe what she is seeing and compares his behaviour as someone who has lost his Christian faith. Otherwise, she cannot simply believe that anyone in their right mind would believe the statements made in the fake love letters. Here, we see how a simple act of deception has disrupted normalcy as this character is supposedly going mad . In another scene, deception breeds chaos once again when Sir Toby encourages Sir Andrew to battle Cesario to win Olivia s heart. Despite the fact that neither party wanted to fight and was in fact terrified at the very idea, Sir Toby continues to cause conflict by stirring up an altercation that was nonexistent to begin with. To compound such deceptive actions, Viola s pretense as a pageboy creates further confusion when her brother Sebastian appears at the end of the play. The mistaken identity becomes troublesome when Antonio is arrested in front of Cesario and when Sebastian married Olivia. In both cases, because of past lies, other characters are misled to think that an act of betrayal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. The Causes of Hyperthyroidism Essay The thyroid gland is found in the front of the neck and produces two main hormones. The hormones are called thuroxine (T4) and Triiodothyronine (T3). Together these hormones regulate the body s metabolism by increasing energy use in cells, regulate growth and development, help to maintain body temperature and aid in oxygen consumption. These two hormones are regulated by hormones produced by the hypothalamus and pituitary gland. The hypothalamus senses changes in body s metabolic rate and releases a hormone known as thyropin releasing hormone (TRH). This hormone then flows through connecting vessels to the pituitary gland which signals it to release another hormone. This hormone is known as thyroidstimulating hormone (TSH). TSH then makes... This disease is characterized as an autoimmune disorder. This means that the body makes antibodies known as thyroid stimulating immunoglobulin that bind and over activate the production of thyroid hormones [3]. So in essence the antibody mimics the thyroid stimulating hormone and when the negative feedback loop is in affect the antibody still binds to the thyroid and T3 and T4 are over produced [2]. Thyroid nodules are lumps in the thyroid often called adenomas. These adenomas are quite common affecting around seven percent our countries population. These lumps on the thyroid can become very active and thus produce a large amount of thyroid hormone. In some cases hyperthyroidism is brought on by consuming too much medication that treats an underactive thyroid. There are many causes of hyperthyroidism, but the symptoms of hyperthyroidism are the same no matter what causes the over expression of thyroid hormones. The main symptoms of hyperthyroidism are fatigue, shortness of breath, weak muscles, anxiety, difficulty sleeping and heart palpitations. Michael Brown, a black teenager in Ferguson, Missouri, was shot and killed by Darren Wilson, a white police officer. Initially, the shooting had minor media attention, but it slowly accumulated. As more media outlets shed light on the topic, many people, especially those in the black community, suspected that the shooting was racially charged. Wilson stepped out of his car and shot at Brown resulting in Brown s infamous hands up, don t shoot surrender (Eromosele, 5 Eyewitness Accounts of Michael Brown s Shooting ). Johnson s report suggests that Wilson was not threatened by Mike Brown, and Michael tried to surrender to the officer. Tiffany Mitchell, Piaget Crenshaw, and Emmanuel Freeman retell similar narratives about the struggle between Brown and Wilson. Mitchell observed the gunfire through her car window as she awaited the arrival of Crenshaw. Crenshaw stood on her balcony as she witnessed Wilson s pursuit of Brown; her crucial description included the detail that Brown s body was reversed from the direction he ran because he attempted to inform Wilson that he was defenseless. With this combination of sports and manliness, it leads to the militarization of football, and the blind devotion that the sport gives to the military. In one of the segments in the video Not Just a Game, Dave Zirin introduces the concept of the merger of manliness and sports. The central theme of this argument is that in order to be a real man, one would have to sacrifice his body, and be even more vulnerable to injury (Zurin). This is all to serve the ultimate goal, to win the game (Zurin). However, as stated in the film, this leads to the blurring of ethical lines, as athletes start to cheat, like take ... • 15. Sudden and Violent Shifting of Tectonic Plates Cause... Earthquakes are a natural phenomena caused by the violent and sudden shifting of plates along tectonic boundaries. Movement of tectonic plates releases stored energy producing seismic waves, which travel through the solid rock of the upper layers of the earth s crust. Earthquakes occur along belts, circum Pacific or Alpine, located near the edges of tectonic plates. Energy released by the interaction between two plates can produce severe damage to the surrounding environment. Earthquakes occur along tectonic plate boundaries and fault lines. Movement of tectonic plates can be associated with three different types of boundaries: divergent, convergent, and transform. The lithosphere forms the outer most layer of the earth s crust, which over lays a hotter, softer layer called the asthenosphere. A divergent boundary is located along a margin where two plates are moving away from one another. As the two plates move away from one another magma flows up into the empty space, and forms a new section of the ocean floor. The creation of a new sea floor along a divergent boundary produces oceanic ridges. The best know example of this type of boundary is the mid Atlantic ridge. Convergent boundaries occur in area s where two plates merge forcing the lithosphere below the asthenosphere. Once the lithosphere is forced back down into the earth, it is melted and reused as magma volcanic arcs. This type of boundary forms oceanic trenches. • 18. Hague Regulations Essay The Hague Regulations The earliest developments in the law of armed conflict were based on the assumption that in a war between two or more states, those who were legitimately entitled to take up arms were the armed forces of those states. Thus armed forces was not a term which required definition. Individual members of the armed forces were combatants, another term which was treated as self evident. The rules of armed conflict therefore were to be applied to armies. It is generally accepted by IHL experts that the first international attempt at defining combatants was included in the International Declaration concerning the laws and Customs of War adopted in Brussels in 1874. Even more recent studies assert without question that the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In terms of application, however, these conditions are provisions of the law which are fairly marginal. The Brussels Declaration formed the basis of the definition of combatant which was incorporated into Articles 1 and 3 of the Regulations annexed to the Hague Convention (II) with Respect to the Laws and Customs of War on Land of 1899 and 1907. In a later development, the Brussels/Hague provisions were incorporated into the 1949 Third Geneva Convention on Prisoners of War, in order to establish the qualifications required to receive prisoner of war treatment. Because there is no definition of combatant as such, it has always been difficult to say whether only members of the armed forces are to be considered combatants. This problem is compounded by the fact that the Hague definition provides that the armed forces can include non combatants, with both categories being entitled to prisoner of war status. In other words, in the Hague formulation, the term armed forces is not limited to those officially engaged in combat. This provision of the Regulations implies that militias are part of the armed forces even though they are not to be considered part of the army, unless the two terms are interchangeable. To sum up, the Hague Regulations did not define the concept of combatant and left it up to each state to decide which members of its armed forces were combatants and which were not. ... • 19. Relationship Between The Child And Parent Introduction In the two presented books, the main theme outlined in both texts is the theme of relationship between the child and parent. Chinua Achebe in his book, Marriage is a Private Affair developed this theme in the marriage perception outlining the conflict which occurred between a father and his son (Achebe 22). On the other hand, Alice Walker in her book, Everyday Use, developed a story of familywho consist of a motherand her two daughters. One of her daughters proved to be rebellious and went against the family norms (Walker 47). This paper will outline some of the similarities and differences in the parent child relationship in these two books. The differences and similarities will be developed from the themes, settings and character traits of the characters of the specific texts. Comparison of the parent/child relationships in Everyday Use and Marriage Is a Private Affair In comparing the relationship between parent and the child as evidenced in the texts, it clear that in both cases the parents and the child tend to know each other perfectly. In many situations this is naturally and as that is the first person a child interacts with. In focusing on the two texts, we find that as much as Nene tries to convince Nnaemeka to write a letter to his father telling him about their new life, he refuses since he knows his father better than Nene. He knows that it will shock his father and such news should be broken through face to face conversation. The same is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The original movie was created in 1953 and the latest version of the movie was created in 2005. One of the first things I noticed was that in the older version of War of the Worlds, the mise en scene is a lot darker, especially at the beginning of the film when the first alien lands on earth. This creates a feeling of coldness and loneliness amongst the cast. This is a completely different concept with Spielberg s version of the film, as he chooses a New York City mise en scene, which is filled with a much faster pace of life as there is traffic and people everywhere. It also introduces all sorts of drama, as the city itself is a very busy place. In the 2005 version the narrator of the film that explains how the earth got invaded and what it is invaded by is the actor Morgan Freeman. Since the companies have market power, some believe with the tax in place it would reduce the price of the good. If there is anything that must be said, more taxes equal higher prices. The only way to lower gas prices is through reducing taxes and regulation. Many argue that the regulations in place in the state of California are over the top and unnecessary. • 35. Should Victorian High Schools Repeal Vce Exams Should Victorian High Schools Repeal VCE Exams I m sure every student here today would agree that not having to take VCE exams is a pretty good idea. Repealing VCE exams would be a radical change for any high school. Acknowledgement from your teacher that you already know the material instead of proving that you know how to take a test. High school students face a stressful and strenuous time and are challenged by the vigorous preparation for VCE exams. The do or die VCE exams students face is a crisis time for them, instead of thinking about their graduation. Expecting students to take these exams is unfair due to its numerous reasons of unfairness and should not take place. The Victorian school board should repeal these exams. Students do not learn in the same way, they are individuals. Thankfully for society, students bring to schools all kinds of intellect. Some students excel academically, others are artistic talents and others have vocational talents that VCE exams do not take into consideration or measure. The focus of my arguments for repealing VCE exams is that: Necessary funding for schools consistently rears its ugly head and these exams prove to be very expensive. I believe, very much a waste of money. The money could be better spent on school materials like books, computers, and other necessary supplies. The allocated funding could also be well spent on hiring more teachers, so that classes could be smaller and students receive more individual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. The Literal Approach Of Contract Essay A When interpreting a contract, the literal approach is often taken to determine what was meant by the contract. The literal approach to contract interpretation means that when looking over a contract, words are assigned their ordinary meaning. Words are interpreted literally, as they ordinarily would be, regardless of the presumed context. However, giving words their ordinary meaning without adjusting for the context of the situation may cause problems. An example would be when a business places a clause in a contract proclaiming that any fees or costs associated with, say, the hourly cost of renting equipment, are subject to change without notice. This contract would cause problems should the fees suddenly be raised by an exorbitant amount because the literal approach would side with the business as they literally state that they could alter their fees at any time without any notice, and they reserve the right to change prices as they see fit. If, in the example given previously, the business hiked rental fees from $5,000 to $50,000 per year, the literal approach could be taken and be fully justifiable but could be problematic. Clearly, a reasonable person would see that a tenfold increase is completely unreasonable, but the literal approach would defend this. Therefore, it would be important to look at the other three forms of contractual interpretation to decide this matter. The contextual approach would result in a sharply different interpretation of a contract ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is sometimes said that while a quotation is simply a representation of another piece, a sampled passage of music is that music. But that depends on what the meaning of is is . Comparison And Contrast Of The Shepherd And The Nymph Christopher Blake Martinez Mrs. Doorway Shepherd Nymph Essay 27 September 2017 Comparison and Contrast of The Shepherd The Nymphs A comparison and contrast of The Passionate Shepherd to His Love and The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd reveal that these poems both have different viewpoints on love, nature, time and the material world. In this essay, I will be presenting how the Shepherd and the Nymph both have totally different views on love, nature, time and the material world. In the two poems, the shepherd and the nymph both have distinctly opposing views of love. talks about love. The shepherd believes that love will never die. He thinks that love will live forever and will always be pure and young. An example of this is seen in ВЁFor thy delight each May morning (line 22.) He is offering his love, and saying that he will always show and prove his love to her. In the ВЁNymph s replyВЁ she says that she doesn t believe that the shepherd thinks about life and how as life goes on you will lose love for someone, it may be that you love them, but you re not in love with them the life you were when your journey first began. She knows and understands how feelings and love will die out. It shows in ВЁIf all the world and love were youngВЁ(line 1). In both of the poems, both the shepherd and the nymph have distinctly opposing views of nature. The shepherd loves the nature and how beautiful it is, he believes that nature will always be beautiful. He promises her a bed of roses and a life of enjoying nature to its fullest. He shows this in ВЁAnd we will have the pleasures prove, That valleys, groves, hills, and fields. Woods, or steepy mountains yields.ВЁ(lines 1 4). In the ВЁnymph s replyВЁ she says how the shepherd may promise all of this from nature, but she understands that nature isn t always beautiful and nature dies. Things in nature will only last for a little while, then they die and new are born again. She says this in ВЁThe flowers do fade, and wanton fieldsВЁ(line 9). In these poems, the shepherd and the nymph have different views on time. The shepherd thinks that time will never move and time is always going to be good and not ever be a bad time in your life. From a business point of view, some of the best pros of a wireless network according to American EHR are the ease of installation, mobility and cost. Setting up a wireless connection is relatively simple and takes much less time than a wired network. The ease of mobility is a plus as well. Employees can bring their laptops to the conference room and access the network without the need of wires.
