My Parents Essay
Writing an essay about my parents can be both a challenging and rewarding task. On one hand,
the topic is deeply personal, as it requires delving into the intricacies of the relationship with
those who have played a pivotal role in shaping one's life. On the other hand, this very personal
nature makes it a complex endeavor, as the writer must navigate through emotions, memories,
and experiences to present a coherent and meaningful narrative.
Expressing the depth of appreciation and love for parents while maintaining objectivity and
avoiding sentimentality can be a delicate balancing act. It demands introspection, as the writer
needs to reflect on the impact their parents have had on their character, values, and aspirations.
The challenge lies in articulating these thoughts in a way that is both sincere and engaging for the
reader.
Furthermore, crafting an essay about one's parents involves the risk of oversimplification or
idealization. It's essential to present a nuanced and honest portrayal, acknowledging both the
strengths and weaknesses of the individuals in question. This requires a thoughtful exploration of
the complexities inherent in any parent-child relationship, without succumbing to clichГ©s or
generic sentiments.
In terms of structure, organizing the essay coherently poses another set of challenges. The writer
must decide on a thematic approach, whether it be chronological, based on significant events, or
centered around specific qualities of the parents. Each choice comes with its own set of
considerations and implications for the overall flow and impact of the essay.
Despite these challenges, writing about one's parents can be a deeply fulfilling experience. It
provides an opportunity for self-discovery, reflection, and the articulation of gratitude. The
emotional investment in the topic often translates into a compelling narrative that resonates with
readers on a personal level.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on the topic of "My Parents" demands careful navigation
through personal emotions, memories, and the complexities of familial relationships. It requires a
delicate balance between sincerity and objectivity, and the ability to present a nuanced and
honest portrayal. Despite its challenges, the process can be immensely rewarding, offering an
opportunity for self-reflection and gratitude.

The Cms Software ( Cmssw )
3.1 CMS SOFTWARE (CMSSW)
The overall collection of software, referred to as CMSSW, is built around a
Framework, an Event Data Model (EDM), and Services needed by the simulation,
calibration and alignment, and reconstruction modules that process event data so that
physicists can perform analysis. The primary goal of the Framework and EDM is to
facilitate the development and deployment of reconstruction and analysis software.
The CMSSW event processing model consists of one executable, called cmsRun, is
configured at run time by the user s job specific configuration file that tells cmsRun
which data to use which modules to execute, which parameter settings to use for
each module, what is the order or the executions of modules, called path, how the
events are filtered within each path, and how the paths are connected to the output
files. The goal of L1 HGCAL software is to simulate the L1 electronics and data
processing of the HGCAL to carry out analysis of the different objects.

The main concept used in this software is that it does the task of simulation of
electronics and processing of data with the aim to study different options all together.
This software works by creating various objects using factory and storing them in a
vector. The TreeManager manages all these objects for creating branches in a root
tree and filling them with required functions. There is a Tree Manager plugin class

Wicked Vs Oz Compare And Contrast
Wizard of Oz vs. Wicked
The Wizard of Oz and Wicked are two famous books that were turned into movies
and plays. At first glance, these two works look very similar since they both revolve
around a main character that happens to be a witch. Even though the two storylines
are entwined, there are still many contrasting points that make the two unique. Many
similarities and differences can be found between wizards, the plot, and the main
characters of the Wizard of Oz and Wicked.
The Wizard of Oz was written in 1900 by L. Frank Baum, 95 years before Wicked
was published. The plot revolves around Dorothy and her dog, Toto, as they make
their way through the land of Oz. The story starts out in her home state of Kansas,

her along the way. The three characters are a scarecrow, a tin man, and a lion. All
three are hoping to find a missing part of themselves so they join Dorothy in hopes
of finding it. The Tin Man is searching for his heart, the Lion hopes to find courage,

Comparing Plato, James Madison, and John Mills Essay
Comparing Plato, James Madison, and John Mills
Plato, James Madison, and John Mills are all supporters of the idea that opinion must
be discussed in public debate. In my own reason based thought this idea that through
silence ignorance grows louder is my own general understanding.
In Plato s The Republic he discuses the idea that there is first knowledge at the first
degree. In the second degree there is opinion which is neither proven to be true or
false. In the last degree is falsehood. He argues that opinion is not pure knowledge
and therefore can not be pure truth. Plato goes on to say, But surely when a man is
deceived in his own mind we can fairly call his ignorance of the truth true falsehood .
For a false ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Plato stated, And it will produce its natural effects also in the individual. It renders
him incapable of action because of internal conflicts and division of purpose, and
sets him at variance with himself and with all who are just. He said this about men
who were at odds with themselves. In reality falsehood causes inner conflict and in
order to have inner peace that conflict must be resolved. Therefore, the falsehood in
ones own mind must be purged and tested by the means of public debate to solve the
inner conflict and set the man at peace.
In James Madison s Federalist # 10 is also familiar with Plato s writings. Madison
said, As long as the reason of man continues fallible, and he is at liberty to exercise
it, different opinions will be formed. As long as the connection subsists between his
reason and his self love, his opinion and his passions will have a reciprocal influence
on each other. This idea connects with the thought that in order to find pure
knowledge these opinions must be brought to public understanding to be tested and
debated for their truthfulness. Madison further states, No man is allowed to be judge
in his own cause; because his interest will certainly bias his judgment, and, not
improbably, corrupt his integrity. Also in my opinion, the man will not have inner
peace due to his bias. Thus, it is important to have a forum to voice these truths that
we hold in our mind so as to have the inner peace we want.

Student Expectations Of Service Quality
Student expectations of service quality in the university hostel
Data was analyzed by quantifying respondents responses of their levels of agreement
with the statements that were used to evaluate students expectations of service
quality at university hostels and perceptions of service quality at dining rooms. The
levels of service quality expectations and perceptions were quantified by calculating
the average scores on each statement. Scores obtained from calculating the averages
for expectations were subtracted from the scores obtained from customers perceptions
on each statement.
The findings of the study present very important insights in relation to the paper s
problem statement that student s expectation is generally anticipated to be in line with
the acceptable levels of service quality in the university hostels. The results revealed
that students had higher expectation levels compared to their perceptions of the
service quality at the dining rooms on all the service attribute that were used to
evaluate the expectations of service quality. Thus, the gap identified was the Gap
between Expected Service Perceived Service Gap. This Gap presents a challenge for
hostels managers, which is ensuring that good quality provided meets or exceeds
student expectations.
The average expectations scores were consistently around 1, where 1 on the five
point scale used in the questionnaire indicated a strongly agree response. According to

The United States And Japan
After the atomic bombs had fallen and Japan was smoldering, very few people
thought the land of the rising sun would ever rise again. However, as history can
attest, they were wrong. In the wake of the 1945 bombings, the occupation and
subsequent reconstruction of Japan was begun, just a short month later. The
reconstruction of Japan was spearheaded by the Supreme Commander of Allied
Powers, General Douglas MacArthur, and was formulated before the smoke even
cleared .This reconstruction plan opened new gates to the Japanese people that were
previously untapped. Additionally, the new diplomatic relations between the United
Statesand their former enemy, Japan, following World War Two had a profound
impact upon economic, defensive, and social policies of both the United States and
the Japanese postВwar governments. The exact nature of this impact would not be
truly appreciated, however, for years to come.
ECONOMIC
In the years immediately following the second Great War, Japan was struck by what
some would call an economic miracle . This miracle allowed for the industrialized
nation of Japan to regain its foothold in the economic sectors of Southeast Asia.
Essentially, after the war, the U.S. called for unconditional surrender and for Japan to
be stripped of most of its empire, occupied by allied troops, and demilitarized. Japan
would then be integrated into the world economy, and its economic viability would
be guaranteed through free trade Although the
Heart Disease Research Papers
Heart disease is a major epidemic that is destructive and incurable. Every 1 in 4
deaths in America alone are caused by a diseased heart. People who are at risk are
smokers, type 2 diabetics, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, obesity or
overweight, unhealthy diet, lack of physical activity, and genetics. Some examples of
heartdiseases are marfan syndrome (which affects the body s connective tissues.),
cardiomegaly (which is an enlarged heart due to some other type of heart condition.)
and lastly atrial fibrillation (which is when the heart has irregular electric signals
leading the person to have irregular heart rhythms.)
While heart disease is not curable it can be treated. Some treatments and surgeries for
heart disease would include: angioplasties, CABGs, change in diet, regular exercise,
medications. In emergency situations: CPR and/or a defibrillator. Usually surgeries
are not the first option but they can be both beneficial and unsuccessful. An

The Local Food Trade And How Consumers Are Becoming

Local and authentic foods are those which we link to our own culture within the
local community and to other cultures who may have similar or different food habits
to our own. Local food is identified as food within a certain distance such as within a
100 mile radius and is limited to geographic location, whereas authentic food
symbolises culture, heritage, and tradition, and is unique to a certain area or culture.
There are many key concepts which can be seen within local and authentic foods
such as food movement, the local versus global debate, Fairtrade goods, a means of

Lawson R., 2011, Pg.3).
An example of this within the hospitality industry is the Hastings hotels based in
Northern Ireland who buy their meat from local suppliers and have their own herb
gardens within the hotel grounds, therefore they know the produce is fresh, organic
and they are being environmentally sustainable by cutting down on food miles by
having local suppliers (Hastings Hotels, 2015). This also allows the guest to be
aware of where the food they have ordered comes from and it is prepared before
arriving to the kitchen.
The locavore trend can also be seen at the Alto Hotel on Bourke in Austrailia which
has developed its own beehives on the rooftop, a fresh herbs garden, use local
suppliers and even use rainwater for taps and showers to ensure they are being fully
sustainable. (Alto Hotel, 2015)
Benefits of Buying Local
Buying local has many benefits as it causes less pollution in the atmosphere as food
produce would not have to be transported across the country, therefore there are less
emissions produced and it also helps our local economy.
The economy can improve by buying local as by buying from a local farmer means
that the money spent will stay within the local economy and that it will not be leaked
out of the country, as the economy is improved this means that local communities are

##a And Germania By TacitusAgricola And Germania
Tacitus wrote Agricola and Germania by Tacitus as a historical account for the
Roman Empire and its affairs around 98 AD. The first part of the book is a
personal tribute to his father in law Agricola whom he so dearly honored. Based on
the first sentences of his book, he is compelled to tell the story of a man who is
worthy to be written about and remembered. He mentions in the first part of his book
that a personal that men even felt that to tell their own life s story showed self
confidence rather than conceit . Tacitusacknowledges the continual risk of written

achievements he accomplished while still alive. Tacitus close relationship with his
father in law allows him to give not only an account of Agricola s conquered over
Britain but he is able to give a personal account about his character as well. Tacitus

Air From Inhaling
Discuss the pathway of air from inhaling to exhaling.
The journey of the breath begins when the air is drawn into the nostrils (sometimes
the mouth) The motion of taking a breath is made possible by the diaphragm. The
diaphragm contracts, which causes a vacuum in the thoracic cavity.
The air is pulled into the nostrils and continues its journey by being drawn through
the nasopharynx, the oral pharynx and into the glottis.
As the vacuum created by the diaphragm continues, the air is pulled into the trachea
and down into the lungs. The breath of air leaves the trachea and is drawn into the
two branches of the bronchi.
Like meeting a fork in the road, the breath of air splits and some goes to the left
lung and some to the right lung. These two branches, branch off even more into
bronchioles and our breath of air finds its way ... Show more content on

Capillaries in the alveoli diffuse the dissolved oxygen into the blood by entering the
red blood cells and joining with the hemoglobin. This oxygenated blood is carried to
the heart and from there distributed via the circulatory system to the body.
But what about the rest of our breath of air...? The blood returns back to the lungs
to pick up a fresh supply of oxygen and to expel carbon dioxide from the blood
stream. The alveoli are busy exchanging the carbon dioxide that the blood has
diffused by reversing the process of what happened with the oxygen. This gas
exchange only happens in the alveoli.
When the contraction of the diaphragm has stopped the vacuum, the lungs with their
bronchial apparatus, return to their normal relaxed state. This relaxation expels the
remaining air. The expelled air carries away the carbon dioxide that was exchanged in
the alveoli and continues on the reverse course of our journey up the trachea through
the glottis, the oral and nasopharynx, and out the nostrils or mouth.

The Canadian government never transitioned from an authoritarian government, and

till modern day society. With this knowledge, it is clear why there was no attempt to
find the facts about the state s transgression and how they played a part in the
internationally recognized conflict because it did not only implicate the old
government but the current one as well. Truth and Reconciliation Commissions
assume that conflict arose from an authoritarian government and that a democratic

The Ethics and Impracticality of Creating Life:
A Critical Analysis of Frankenstein
Moral Criticism harbors in the basis of societal and personal perceptions of ethics
and morality, both in regards to the author s belief system and the general ideology of
the society at the given time of a text s conception (Brizee 1). Within Frankenstein by
Mary Shelley, Victor Frankenstein tests the limits of ethical and moral concerns in
his experimentation and successful animation of his creature. The novel explores the
wonder and tranquility Victor has for nature, yet, in his defiance of its will with his
metaphysical science, his creature dreads living and his life as a whole(Shelley ...

The theistic vitalist position posits a divinely created soul, and thus asserts that
human subjects do not fashion their own morality but, instead, seek to discover
absolute moral law that is defined by an absolutely good moral law giver. The mere
assertion of an absolute moral law indeed does not guarantee moral behavior. For
example, through his exposure to Milton s Paradise Lost, the Creature embraces the
Christian theistic worldview and its revelation of an absolute moral law, yet he still
commits murder. However, the theistic understanding of absolute morality does
provide a rationally consistent basis upon which to defend objective moral judgments.
The problem central to Frankenstein is the belief of its central character that he can
perform the ultimate usurpation, that of God. There is an extreme vanity and
egotism acting as the motivating force for Victor s work, as opposed to a
disinterested desire to further the interest of the human race in general. Victor s true
desire is to gain divine knowledge of the world, with the inevitable consequence,
therefore, of substituting himself for the divine
Legalist Qin Dynasty
The Period of the Warring States was a time of turmoil and unrest in Chinese history.
It started during the decline of the Zhou Dynasty in 479 BCE and lasted until 221
BCE. The 100 Chinese states fought and conquered one another, until the state of Qin
triumphed over the rest and formed the Qin Dynasty. Some of the largest effects that
came from the Period of the Warring States were the forming of the Legalist Qin
Dynasty, the spread and adoption of Confucianist ideas, and the influence of the
Daoist philosophy on Chinese society.
After the chaos ended, the Legalist Qin Dynasty proved an effective, but short lived
approach to governing the Chinese society. The centralized government ruled with an

The founder of Daoism was a sage named Laozi. Laozi and other sages wrote the
main Daoist literary work, the Daodejing, which educated disciples of Daoism on
the main topics of the philosophy. The Daodejing contained the most basic
principles of Daoism, such as dao and wuwei. In addition to this, Daoism had a
great effect on Chinese culture and art. After Daoism was prevalent in the Warring
States time, many art pieces depicted nature as a huge, vast being and humans as
small, powerless to nature s forces. This was a main concept of Daoism, which was
centered around disengaging so nature can control one s life and make it
harmonious. Another concept of Daoism that lingered in Chinese society is the
pairing of yin and yang. Yin and yang represent two opposite forces that perfectly
balance, creating the perfect symbiotic relationship. Balance and peace were very
important concepts in Daoism, and this relationship symbolized the harmony that
could occur when two forces were perfectly matched. Yin and yang also inspired art
works and scenes in movies, such as the film Hero. One famous disciple of Daoism
was Zhuangzi. Zhuangzi was credited with writing one of the famous and
foundational Daoist works, the Zhuangzi. It consisted of fables and anecdotes about
the carefree nature of Zhuangzi as the
Integrative Approach For Counseling And Its Effects On...
Integrative Approach to Counseling
Key Concepts
The central idea in an integrative approach to counseling is one of a patient s ability
to affect their life through the choices they make. William Glasser suggests most
people s unhappiness stems from the lack of meaningful relationships, and most
relationships are either successful or a disaster based on the choices we make
(Corey, 2013). Patients are able to positively or negatively impact their mental well
being by making choices that deepen their interpersonal relationships.
Expanding on Glasser s ideas, existentialism and the choices it offers, gives an
individual the opportunity to experience freedom. They are no longer tied to a
deterministic view of life, but are instead given license to create the life they wish to
have, unencumbered by the weight of societal, cultural, or familial expectations
(Corey, 2013).
Both choice theory and existentialism closely mirror ideas taught in Protestant
Christianity: people are free to make choices about their behavior and lifestyle, and
all choices have an outcome. That outcome can be positive (salvation), or negative
(damnation). If one believes the rules as explained in the Bible, the outcome of one s
life rests in their choices.
Counselor s role
In most cases, the counselor will best serve their client by taking on a not knowing
role in the relationship, allowing the client to become the expert in their own lives
(Corey, 2013).
The world is becoming more and more

due to the fact that it helped change certain things about the way America is today.
Through examples of progressivism such as the women s strike, the Triangle

were very much progressive at this time. During the time of the Progressive Era,
America was just peaking as a country after battling years of reform, America was

The entire nation was completely distraught after hearing what happened to these
poor women. More women joined forces together and made a larger push for
women s right. They refused to let these women die without a purpose. They
wanted to prove that their lives did mean something and that they were not just
puppets. Slowly, Americans realized that they were not free. (Foner 725) Many
people began to smell the roses after this catastrophe that they created new
progressive movements from this. They realized that they should not be so naive
about their way of life and see what the larger companies are doing to keep their
power. For obvious reasons many did not like how they were being manipulated so
they joined the Feminist movement which fought for the right for women to express
themselves freely. This was an essential progressive time period because the Triangle
Shirtwaist company fire made them realize how disturbing their surroundings are.
These events that took on during the progressive era held to be important in
American history. It was the time of an enormous strike against a corporation, one of
the deadliest fires known to this date, consequently the time for progressives to fully
flourish in American grounds. These events showed the true importance of
progressive ideals and how times have changed ever since
The Theme Of Power In King Lear
King Lear , a play by Shakespeare tells us how kingship and power or the loss of
power are expressed. Lear, king of Britain decides to retire and shares his kingdom
between his daughters; he later discovers what it is like to lose the power and
authority that came with responsibilities. In the play, power is related to flattery,
appearance and anger.
In act 1, scene 1, Lear says that Meantime [he] shall express [his] darker purpose
(1,1,36). The expression darker purpose tells us that there is a secret and a tragedy

Here, Lear goes mad and tells Gloucester that even a dog gets obeyed by people
who have to obey him and that appearance, authority and power all lead to

To conclude, King Lear portrays power as the ability to manipulate and control

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Vinyl
Cutters
What is a vinyl cutter?
A vinyl cutter is controlled by a computer. Popularly known as vinyl plotters, it is a
computer controlled plotting device with a blade to cut out shapes and letters from
sheets of vinyl, which is a self adhesive plastic. Now, after reading this line, thoughts
might arise in the minds of our readers that what exactly is vinyl?? It is nothing but
a synthetic plastic consisting of PVC (polyvinyl chloride) used especially for
wallpapers and other covering materials and for phonographic records.
Principle of working:

The Symbolism Of Clothing In Joseph s Story
Throughout different forms of literature, clothing is symbolically used to represent
the status of the main character at changing intervals of his or her life. Just as
clothing that is worn today can send messages about who we are as people, the same
phenomena can be said about clothing of past generations, as well as within a literary
context. Which garments are worn, and in fact, how they are worn, can lead to
identifications about culture, gender, wealth, socioeconomic status, and religion. Also
indicative of these characteristics is the absences of certain articles of clothing. In
Joseph s story, the garment motif is used as an obvious symbol, throughout the
entirety of the narrative to represent downfalls and uprises in the plot. This use of
symbolism may also reveal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many references to clothing can be found in the Old Testament. The general term
used was beged and it referred to both women and men s attire. It is used over 200
times (Batten 150). Within the text, nakedness or little clothing is seen in a
negative light. This may be due to the fact that it is sometimes representative of
low social status and may lead to dishonor or disgrace of one s family in the eyes
of the community. Conversely, when clothes are given it is seen as a restoration of
dignity (Batten 151). For example, in the book of Numbers, it was declared that
tassels must be worn on clothing as a symbol of God s covenant with Israel (15:37
41). This is because tassels or fringes in the hem was seen as visual evidence of an
elevated special status. In fact, the more decorated the hem of a person s clothing, the
more wealth and power the person possessed (Bertman 121 122). Additionally,
evidence has been found that indicates this ritual dates back as far as the ninth
century by the Assyrians (Bertman
Reflection In Education
I came into this class having lived in a developing country for most of my life. In
India, I had worked with organizations that that were both for profit and non profit.
Some stated their social impact focus, while others did not. Even fewer could
actually substantiate their claims, and in the the midst of it all, impact measurement
was almost an afterthought. Over the past six weeks, I have looked back at some of
those organizations and tried to piece through the impact they had on the
communities they sought to uplift. For instance, I spent weekends volunteering at
an informal non profit school for economically disadvantaged children. The
organization was funded by affluent private donors, who would look at the number
of children educated as an output metric. While the investors saw positive gains in
the throughput of the organization, this course helped me gain a very different
perspective. I would now like to go back and get more data that delves into the
student facing benefit of the program. Could the children utilize the skills they
were taught in the real world? Did they ultimately get higher paying jobs than they
would have with the status quo? In my experience, a number of organizations focus
on the act of doing social good, but not necessarily on the outcomes. In an ideal
world, rigorous impact metrics should be baked into the investment process.
However, in the same vain, I also recognize that a one size fits all approach is
detrimental to a lot of
Why The Drinking Age Should Be Lowered
Why the Drinking Age should be lowered to 18? At the age of 18, American
Citizens gain the immense responsibility of becoming an adult. When you turn 18
you gain a sense of adulthood and many things that were illegal for you before are
now legal. Object lessons are the right to sign a contract, vote in elections, attend on
a jury, make a will, get married without parental permission and the list goes on. For
what reason is it that you aren t old enough to purchase and consume alcohol. The
passage of the National Minimum Drinking Age Actof 1984 prompted states to
enhance their legal age for purchase or public ownership of alcohol to 21 or risk
losing millions in federal highway funds (alcohol policy. Noah. NIH. Gov). The
presidents of 135 colleges have called for lowering the drinking age from 21. They
note that the age restriction hasn t stopped binge drinking on campus and argue,
not without reason, that it has turned alcohol into forbidden fruit begging to be
picked. Perhaps teaching young adults how to imbibe in moderation is the safer
direction to go (Harrop). Having the drinking age at 21 does not teach young adults
who are starting to pledge anyway, how to drink responsibly. It makes them hide
away from adult supervision and makes alcohol seem that a great deal more
appealing. Office of the trill of drinking underage is hiding and getting away with it,
so lowering it to 18 would take the thrill of drinking underage away. Things cannot go
on this path. A more
A White Paper on Building Information Modeling
The future direction for the Architecture and Building industry is clearly BIM.
Although there are disadvantages to BIM but this is so with every technology. The
question is do the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages? In the case of BIM
the answer is a clear yes. In the past decade, there has not been any technology,
invention or innovation that has had such an impact on the Architecture and
building industry as BIM. In 2005, a survey conducted by the American Institute of
Architects showed that 85% of architects had never heard of BIM. However, by
2009, 75% of architects are heavy users of BIM. This is a 160% increase in 4 years.

The Burden Of Responsibility In The Lord Of The Rings
The Burden Of Responsibility
By:Yeh In Kang
Enduring the burden of responsibility can lead people to positive outcomes. This
theme is demonstrated by Peter Jackson, Philippa Boyens and Fran Walsh in The
Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring through the responsibility of
companionship that is carried by Samwise Gamgee. He is caught eavesdropping on
Frodo and Gandalf, when he is caught Gandalf tells him to accompany Frodo on his

chance to go on an adventure but he must take care of Frodo, this burden leads to

The Planet Of The Apes
The Planet of the Apes franchise completely overtook the film industry starting in
1968, after the original film hit theaters. Since then, there has been a reboot, two
sequels, merchandise, and even a TV series. This film was such a success for
many reasons its clever allegories to race, religion, and politics, the phenomenal
makeup and costume design, the world building that was almost unheard of in 1968
(maybe even giving inspiration for the world building in the first Star Wars film
which hit theaters in 1977), you name it. However, there is one thing above all that
comes to the mind of both film buffs and newbies alike when one thinks of the
original Planet of the Apes and that is the phenomenal twist ending. Planet of the

who landed his ship on a planet that he concludes exists in a completely different
time than earth when he departed. On his quest, Taylor loses the three astronauts that
were travelling with him and realizes that this planet is ran completely by a civilized
society of apes, and he found the humans to be mute, savage, and animalistic. The
film follows Taylor as he is captured by this literate community of apes and attempts
to understand how this world came to be. After forming an animosity with Dr. Zaius,
the orangutan minister of science, who seemed to fear the idea of humans gaining
intelligence, Taylor escaped his capture in search of the reason why this planet

Advertising agencies today are confronted with the ever evolving nature of
technology and new applications that are continually being devised. Traditional
advertising methods such as billboards, newspapers, magazines, radio and even

increase in the number of platforms for getting messages to target audiences. In my
essay I will discuss the challenges that the digitalization of communications has had

IMC can be defined as an approach to brand communications where the different
modes work together to create a seamless experience for the customer and are
presented with a similar tone and style that reinforces the brand s core message
(Belch Belch, 2013). Agencies overcome this challenge by understanding and
embracing technology and its effectiveness in solving clients problems.
Acceleration Media CEO Tony Sousa claims the world of media is changing at an
unprecedented rate as technology disrupts the established business models for
publishing and advertising, as consumers change the way in which they consume
information, services and entertainment (Sousa, 2013). Mass media advertising as we
know it today is perishing. Advertising agencies have had to restructure their
advertising models to accommodate a harsher advertising climate. This forces brands
to formulate effective ways to reach their customers. The main factor contributing to
traditional advertisings impending demise is the invention of new forms of
technology, namely the internet. The creation of the internet has resulted in the
fragmentation of media and markets. Media fragmentation is the breaking up of large
audiences into smaller audience fragments due to the increase of media choices
available (Tuten, 2008). Advertising has to spread further, covering a multitude of
channels to gain the same exposure (Rust Oliver, 1994). Media platforms provide

They mostly tortured Jewish children and Gypsy children. Hoss used to kill kids

some froze to death during experiments. Children were treated horribly. Even

Life is a struggle for the single father Chris Gardner known as Will Smith. He and
his young son known as Jaden Christopher Syre Smith got evicted from their

movie is about the American Dream. It is a very common dream that we all share.
The dream is to being successful and happy. To fulfill that dream in America you
need to have courage and the abilities to achieve your dream.
The Pursuit Of Happiness is based on a true story about a man called Chris
Gardner. Chris Gardner is a great example for somebody that wants to Pursuit his
American Dream. The Pursuit Of Happiness is about how Chris Gardner is willing
to make sure he achieves his happiness. For living, Chris Gardner is a salesman
who sells bone density scanners. Eventually he figured out that nobody wanted to
buy it because it is a luxury device in the medical business. Sometime in the
beginning of the movie, there is a scene where we see Chris Gardner approaching
and trying to talk to Mr.Twistle. We see a long shotof them both which shows us
that they both are dressed in suits, which means that they both might be office
workers. The long shot then drifts and became a mid shot. The director could have
purposely done that to show that Mr.Twistle is in a hurry and has no time to speak
with Chris. Chris Gardner and Mr.Twistle got in the same cab. While they are in
the same taxi together, we see that Chris is talking to Mr.Twistle but the close up of
Mr.Twistle s face shows that he s not interested in what Chris is saying. This is
because Twistle is just playing with a Rubik s cube. We then see an over the
shoulder shot which shows that it could mean that Chris is desperately wanting to
talk to Mr.Twistle. Mr.Twistle then says to Chris I m sorry, this thing is impossible.
The extreme close up of Chris s face shows that he is determined to do whatever it
takes to talk to Mr.Twistle . Again, in the taxi part of the scene we are only really

Theories Of Leadership And Leadership Theory Essay
EVALUATE ANY TWO CONTEMPORARY THEORIES OF LEADERSHIP.
Traditional theories of leadership were more concentrated on behaviours and traits of
leaders, and how they affect subordinates in the workplace. Then came contingency
theories, which took into account situational/contextual factors. Newer theories have
come up, which introduced the idea that leader subordinate relationships are
individually different.
These newer theories are Contemporary theories of leadership. They include Leader
Member exchange Theory, Implicit Leadership Theory and Transformational
Leadership Theory. In this paper, I shall examine Leader Member Exchange Theory
and Implicit Leadership Theory.
The Leader Member Exchange theory (LMX) introduces a new approach to
leadership models with the view of leadership as a reciprocal interaction between
leaders and their subordinates. It initiates the importance of communication in
leadership.
LMX deals with the ways in which the leader subordinate relationship affects the
leadership process. The relationship between the leader subordinate pair, which is
referred to as a dyad, is considered separately for each pair, because leaders behave
differently with each subordinate.
Central to this theory is that leaders have different relationships with different
subordinates which leads to the subordinates being placed in two categories; the in
group and the out group. Subordinates in the in group have good relationships with
the leader. The relationship is
Pros And Cons Of Fossil Fuels
We should rely of fossil fuels because it s an essential resource and we use it to run
our cars, warm up our houses and have electricity and many industries rely on it.
Because we have used it for so many years a lot of time and money has been put into
it. They are many equipment all around the world that has been designed to take out
our fossil fueltherefore it should be used. Fossil fuels are scattered around the
world and are not hard to find although we do have to reach very deep to get it. It s
still accessible. The efficiency of fossil fuel is another factor because it can
generate a lot of energy. And carrying it from one place can be done by pipes
underground. To put the pipes in place was a very expensive project that s why we
should continue to use it. Another positive side is the fact that it creates thousands of
jobs every years and that s not only in America but also other countries around the
world and if many people lose their jobs it can negatively affect the economy.
We should not use fossil fuel because it s damaging our environment. The Pollution
that s being created is destroying our ecosystem. That includes humans, animals,
plants and of course planet earth. This is a domino effect if one goes down, we all
fall down together. So we must try our best to protect it. The conflicts that are
caused by burning fossil fuels has been documented by many scientists around the
world and the biggest threat is global warming. Diseases that are caused by
pollution is killing millions of children around the world every year. The air the
we breath in is so crucial to our health and it s fair to say millions of people have
asthma and lung diseases. It does depend on where we live, in some neighborhoods
may not be as bad as some other cities but millions of innocent people are affected by
this.
According to a research, the statistics shows that seven million premature deaths
were caused by air pollution. Another factor we must consider is that it might be
easily accessible compare to other energy sources but it cannot be renewed. Once we
ran out of gas coal or petroleum it will be gone for good. We will not be able to
restore that. The fossil fuel industry might create some jobs but that doesn t mean it s
Analysis of Francis Bacon s The Four Idols Essay
Analysis of Francis Bacon s The Four Idols
In The Four Idols, Francis Bacon discusses the concept of what fundamentally stands
in the way of a human using the correct way of arriving upon a conclusion. Bacon
believes there are four falsehoods that delay people from uncovering what they need
to: the idols of the tribe, cave, marketplace and theater. At first I thought that these
idols did not apply to humans at all, but now, after careful consideration, I understand
how each idol relates to humankind.
The Idols of the Tribe represent the illusions of human nature: it refers to the idea that
our everyday problems arise simply because we are humans. For example, it is human
nature to think that there is more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When someone grows up in a neighborhood that differs from the rest of community
by way of religion, race, or values, for example, their decisions may be one sided,
for better or worse. People usually devote themselves to either one side or the other,
but in order to get a full understanding should study all sides equally and as
objectively as possible. Ultimately, Bacon declares that whatever intrigues one s mind
should be held in suspicion pending investigation in order to get a clearer
understanding.
The Idols of the Marketplace are illusions formed when people communicate with
one another. These illusions are caused by the misuse of words, which results in
misinterpretation. There are two classes in which the illusions may fall. The first
class consists of words that are invented with no meanings and do not exist. The
second class is made up of words that have double meanings. Let us take the word
liberal; there are countless ways an individual may interpret this word. One person
may associate it with becoming a progressive individual, while someone else may
connect it with being honorable through education. No matter the word, there are
always multiple ways to view and apply the meaning of a word to a situation.
The Idols of the Theater are illusions shaped when people believe what the authorities
tell them and do not bother to question the impressions put upon them. Bacon
believes that these received systems are created
What Accounting Considerations Are There For
Companies...
E) What notable accounting considerations are there for companies in this industry?
Most companies in the telecommunication industry rely heavily on assumptions and
estimations when dealing with their number one assets: telecommunication licenses
and Goodwill. A summary of the critical accounting estimates used in preparing
Verizon financial statements is as follows: Wireless licenses and Goodwill are a
significant component of the company s consolidated assets. Both wireless licenses
and Goodwill are treated as indefinite lived intangible assets and, therefore are not
amortized, but rather are tested for impairment annually in the fourth fiscal quarter,
unless there are events requiring an earlier assessment or changes in circumstances
during an interim period that indicate these assets may not be recoverable. Verizon
believes its estimates and assumptions are reasonable and represent appropriate
marketplace considerations as of the valuation date. Although the company uses
consistent methodologies in developing the assumptions and estimates underlying the
fair value calculations used in its impairment tests, these estimates are uncertain by
nature and can vary from actual results. It is possible that in the future there may be
changes in the assumptions, including estimated cash flow projections, margins, and
growth rates and discount rates which could result in different fair value estimates
and an impairment charge. F) Is the company in a highly regulated industry?
The Novel As Well As The Short Stories Trout
The planet was being destroyed by manufacturing processes, and what was being
manufactured was lousy, by and large. This is a significant theme. Throughout the
course of the work nature is being exploited by the hand of man. In the novel as well
as the short stories Trout writes, the natural world is in constantly being damaged
because of human activity. Vonnegut was an environmentalist and uses this theme to
urge the reader to reflect on their own practices and habits, as well as to question the
sustainability and environmental awareness of the society in which they live. The
demolition of West Virginia had taken place with the approval of the executive,
legislative, and judicial branches of the State Government, which drew their... Show

Negative personal outcome is that he ends up in the asylum. Vonnegut uses this
passage and these themes to urge the reader to question the actions of their
representatives and stay on top of the leadership in their society, such that
everyone may avoid the abuse of power and negative consequences. I hold in my
hand a symbol of wholeness and harmony and nourishment. It is oriental in its
simplicity, but we are Americans, Kilgore, and not Chinamen. We Americans
require symbols which are richly colored and three dimensional and juicy. Most of
all, we hunger for symbols which have not been poisoned by great sins our nation
has committed, such as slavery and genocide and criminal neglect, or by tinhorn
commercial greed and cunning. This passage explains the Western way of life s
need for structure. To function, western society requires a hierarchy of symbols.
Vonnegut chooses to exposition the apple, the American flag, the automobile, gold,
and the football among others, but the passage explains that the apple, much like
gold, is only a symbol because of the meaning that Americans have placed upon it.
It doesn t have any inherent noble qualities, other than the idea of what the apple
represents. The passage is a direct explanation of what Vonnegut is doing, of how he
uses symbols to come back to the concepts of the spread of ideas, racism, patriotism
etc. The passage challenges all symbols by forcing the reader to acknowledge that

The Importance Of Taking A Stand In History
The topic we chose for our National History Day project was animal liberation. This
not only has a special place in our interests and beliefs but in many other peoples all
around the globe. One by one, people are starting to understand that animals are
important creatures too and not just here on this Earth for our own selfish use.
Finally, we as people, are trying to do something about it by taking a stand. So,
there are definitely many valuable reasons why this movement is important to us
and several other individuals. We got the ideas for this topic from the clear fact
that animals in today s world are just not treated correctly. Every single day,
countless creatures are abused, neglected, and we decided we wanted to speak up
for them. According to the ASPCA organization, 2.7 million animals come into an
animal shelter abused and frightened every year. Since they cannot form words
themselves, we as people need to know when they need help from us. Yet, some of
us cruelly do the complete opposite. Leaving a poor dog outside in the frigid
temperatures or laying a hand on an animal are just a few examples of what some
horrid people... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We all wish they could tell us exactly what they want exactly when they need it.
But that is not the case. In reality, they just hope we can understand their body
language and oblige to them. People today are taking a stand for them in many
different, helpful ways. Some are becoming vegan or vegetarian to support their
beliefs and some are speaking in public places to spread their much needed word. As
of 2014, 16 million people had become vegan or vegetarian to help support the rights
of animals. This topic is important in history because without these animal liberation
movements, they would still be treated as a product on a grocery store shelf and not
living, breathing creatures that have feelings of their
Korean Politics And Korean Political Leadership
In 1910, Japan became the first non western colonial power by annexing Korea. But
unlike the western empires, Japan wanted to strip away not only Korean resources,
but also Korean history and culture. To justify the invasion, the Japanese claimed that
they were liberating the Koreans from their ethnic and cultural backwardness (Palais
412). As a result, mainstream Korean history has taught that Koreawas an insignificant
player in pre modern Asia which was beset both by internal and external conflict. The
Japanese perpetuated the notions that foreign powers constantly invaded Korea, that
Korean political leadership regularly fought amongst themselves, that the ruling elite
continually oppressed its people, and that Korea was a cultural extension of China.
However, these beliefs about Korean history are largely inaccurate.
In fact, while Korea was a comparatively small country, it had the ability to defend
itself from foreign attacks through direct combat and diplomatic means. Also, Korean
political structure and ideologies enabled prolonged periods of stability despite
internal conflict, allowing Korean dynasties to last longer than Chinese ones.
Additionally, even though the ruling elite required taxes, labor, and military service
from its people, sources reveal that they often had the Korean people s interests in
mind. Finally, although China largely influenced Korean culture, Koreans augmented
the borrowed cultural ideas to make them their own.
Koreans were able to
The Cask Of Amontillado By Edgar Allan Poe Essay
Montresor s Grudge The Cask of Amontillado, by Edgar Allan Poe, tells a tale of a
friendship between two men. One named Montresor, seeks revenge on the other,
named Fortunato. The reason is unknown. The thousand injuries of Fortunato I
had borne as I best could, but when he ventured upon insult I vowed revenge. You,
who so well know the nature of my soul, will not suppose, however, that gave
utterance to a threat. At length I would be avenged; this was a point definitely,
settled but the very definitiveness with which it was resolved precluded the idea of
risk. I must not only punish but punish with impunity. A wrong is unredressed
when retribution overtakes its redresser. It is equally unredressed when the
avenger fails to make himself felt as such to him who has done the wrong. (Edgar
Poe 1) Montresor feels that he has been hurt so bad that he has to get revenge. He
does not say what was done to him. He shows that he has taken it very personally
and to the heart. Montresor s mindset is that he has to get revenge in a way that he
does not get caught doing so. If he does get caught then he will not have revenge.
Here is where we see Montresor s anger for Fortunato. Montresor finds Fortunato in
the city celebrating and drinking. He tells him about a drink called Amontillado that
he wants him to drink. He talks about how good it is and lures him to go with him. A
big thing that helped lure in Fortunato was when Fortunato was coughing and seemed
sick, Montresor showed
Huron Community Reflection
I found a quote about three years ago on a wall at my camp that has stuck with me
ever since. Each one of us can make a difference. Together we make change. The
quote is by an American politician by the name Barbara Mikulski and although I do
not know what her personal beliefs are, personally this is a mantra I aspire to live by.
I want to make a difference in the world, and my first step out of high school on that
path would be at the Centre for Global Studies at Huron University College. I
believe that one of the things that makes Huron special is it s smaller size in
comparison to many other universities. I spent my first three years of high school in
a large school with classes with as many as 35 40 students. It was quite difficult for...

summer camp initially as a camper and then I was chosen as a LIT or leader in

this camp, I was invited to think critically about many social justice issues and I
gained leadership skills that built on the leadership skills I had already developed
through my five year experience as co captain of an elite soccer team. Coaches,
camp counsellors and teachers have referred to me as a natural, quiet leader who
always motivates those around her. I want to be that kind of leader at Huron and

Medical Practice Vs. Conventional Medicine
In the present day, medical practice has been regarded as dichotomized in the sense
that, they are either categorized as conventional or alternative hence their medical
backgrounds and respective practitioners many times are dependent against each
other. A close observation shows that these categorizations are subjective and not
made to conflict. Conventional medicinehave formerly been known to utilize natural
resources while home remedies have for a long period been prepared using a boost
of untested value as they are administered without professional supervision or
prescription (Hassed, 405).
The actual nature for these classifications are distinct. The conventional medicine
are realized to have been developed by dominant cultures and societies that arose to
be widespread in a more scientific method of healing. On the other hand, home
remedies arose as a convenient way of handling sickness and despite not having
medical properties, they are understood to treat and cure the disease in question.
Each civilization defines, applies and views its remedies differently with historic
guidebooks frequently having various remedies for many diseases (Lee. 461).
This paper anticipates to provide a brief discussion as well as comparison between
home remedies and conventional medicine. Home remedies being assumed as less
dominant, the paper will expound on the positive strengths and attributes of home
remedies. Despite there having existed significant contributions of the
Why Are Honey Bees Disappearing
Honey bees in America are disappearing at a rapid rate but yet their is no solution. In
Europe, the union felt the bee population should be protected. The union placed a two
year ban on two types of pesticides , includes clothianidin and thiamethoxam.
Scientists think that those are the leading causes of the colony collapsing.
Unfortunately the U.S. is still not taking action.
Action:
Suspend the use of pesticides that are detrimental to bees.
The U.S knows that the pesticides are killing the honey bees but still not taking action.
Why are honey bees important? The honey bee is the only insect that produces food
we can eat.
In the U.S. , bees pollinate over $15 billion worth of crops. This includes favorites
like apples, berries,
Self Love And Self Esteem
It is very important for one to love himself. When you don t love yourself, it is hard
to expect others to love you. Agreed, we may have many faults and shortcomings.
But you must embrace yourself with all your faults and learn to love yourself. Self
love and self esteem are related to each other. If you suffer from low esteem, you
can t have enough self love. With low confidence, you will find it hard to love
yourself at first, because you don t think high of yourself. But as you start loving
yourself, your self esteem will be boosted and you ll have higher confidence. If
you want to love yourself, you need to make a conscious decision. It is a decision
that you have to make for a fulfilled and happy life. With low self esteem, you can
never reach your full potential. It is therefore a crucial task to love yourself. Here
are some tips that will help you complete this task: Understand yourself: If you
want your personality to grow, you need to understand yourself, and know what
makes you bloom. You may have many flaws, but you need to accept them and
move on. You should understand that nobody is perfect. Yes, even the most perfect
person you have met or idolised also has flaws. You are not the only one. Go ahead
and stand in front of a mirror. Admire your reflection and fall in love with yourself.
You might not be as important for others, but in your life story, you are the hero,
and your life revolves around you. Don t criticise yourself: Do you belittle yourself
over small things? Whenever you make any small mistake, do you get a voice
inside your head telling you that you are stupid and good for nothing? If that
happens a lot with you, you need to stop criticising yourself. It is important to look
at your positive points instead of focusing on the negative ones. Be positive and
kind: When you start thinking positive, you become kinder towards yourself and
your self love increases. With this, increases your self esteem and confidence.
Kindness towards others also helps. You need to love other people. If you feel
general hatred towards others, you ll turn out to be a bitter person, and this will
decrease your love towards yourself. Love others and try to help them. This will
make you feel better about
The Glory Field By Walter Dean Myers
The Glory Field by Walter Dean Myers best conveys the character traits of courage,
ambitiousness, and supporting family even when times appear to be distressful.
This book takes you through African American history with the excitement and
thrill of fiction. It allows you to witness the glory of African American evolution,
from a period of slavery to modern day. The reader witnesses courage as African
Americans try and fight for freedom and equality in an unforgiving society. African
Americans try and defy the society s perspective of them in an attempt to reach an
optimal level of success. They work to divert from their typical expectations, and
strive for success even when the possibilities are minimal. They strive to build a
better living besides being maids and factory workers, and they attempt to remove
every obstacle in their way of success. They desire to go above what is expected of
them, so they can achieve at a prodigious level in a segregated society. Even as
technology advances, the reader witnesses the character s sense of community. They
always believe that family is crucial to success even in times of distress. If they
abandon their community, then they abandon the only people that support them. In
this time period, their community was composed of the only people that cared about
them. The African Americansociety emulates these traits throughout this book, as the
author inserts you into their fight for equity and freedom. The Glory Field takes

7. CONCLUSIONS RECOMMENDATIONS
7.1 Summary of Results
This section summarizes the results of all the statistical tests that have been
performed by this study. The correlation analysis was performed between the primary
variable of FEP Cost % and the Cost Performance, Schedule Performance, Change
Cost % and Schedule Change %. The results show that there was a positive
correlation between the effort allocated to Front End Planning and the cost
performance of the project in DB system, Complex projects and Renovation
projects. The schedule performance was affected positively by the FEP effort only
in projects delivered using CMR system. In general, there was an observable trend of
negative correlation between the FEP effort and the change costs that occurred in a
project. For this test, the statistical evidence was more significant in the case of DB
system, both Simple and Complex projects and New projects. Increase in FEP effort
reduced the schedule changes in projects only in the case of Renovation.
The following table summarized the results of the correlation analysis with the
corresponding p values. A positive value for Spearman s ПЃ suggests positive
correlation and a negative value suggests the inverse correlation. P values that are

Are The Two Malcontents Of Hamlet And Revenger s
Tragedy
Are the two malcontents of Hamlet and Revenger s tragedy natural revengers and
what other forces are at work in their psyche?
In Elizabethan and early Jacobean eras, Revenge Tragedies presented the tragedies
English playwrights adapted from Greeks and later Romans such as Seneca, highly
demanded by the public. Traditionally the plot of the play hinge on political power,
forbidden sexuality, family honor and private revenge, hence which both Hamlet and
Revenger s Tragedy are traditional forms of the Revenge Tragedies. However, the
nature of the revengers themselves are rather arguable. All through the play Hamlet

Both characters carry a burden of guilt. Hamlet s suppressed desires and emotions
are heavily aggravated by the absence of his father which refocuses his patricidal
wish onto Claudius, and displays that his need for revenge is internal; not purely a
need to resolve dissatisfaction with the affairs of the world , as Vindice s. Hamlet s
needs are deep and complex, while for Vindice The smallest advantage fattens

who wronged. Hamlet on the other hand suffers from the loss of his father, whereas
his inward suffering is further intensified by his conflicts with Ophelia and Gertrude,
leading him to suicidal, melancholic thoughts O that this too, too sullied flesh would

Hamlet s tortured soul as well as the use of hyperbole melted flesh which suggests
slight exaggeration of Hamlet s current state, but also proves that Hamlet is searching
deep into his soul for explanations and

My Parents Essay. Relationship Between Parent and Child Essay Example Topics and Well ...

  • 1. My Parents Essay Writing an essay about my parents can be both a challenging and rewarding task. On one hand, the topic is deeply personal, as it requires delving into the intricacies of the relationship with those who have played a pivotal role in shaping one's life. On the other hand, this very personal nature makes it a complex endeavor, as the writer must navigate through emotions, memories, and experiences to present a coherent and meaningful narrative. Expressing the depth of appreciation and love for parents while maintaining objectivity and avoiding sentimentality can be a delicate balancing act. It demands introspection, as the writer needs to reflect on the impact their parents have had on their character, values, and aspirations. The challenge lies in articulating these thoughts in a way that is both sincere and engaging for the reader. Furthermore, crafting an essay about one's parents involves the risk of oversimplification or idealization. It's essential to present a nuanced and honest portrayal, acknowledging both the strengths and weaknesses of the individuals in question. This requires a thoughtful exploration of the complexities inherent in any parent-child relationship, without succumbing to clichГ©s or generic sentiments. In terms of structure, organizing the essay coherently poses another set of challenges. The writer must decide on a thematic approach, whether it be chronological, based on significant events, or centered around specific qualities of the parents. Each choice comes with its own set of considerations and implications for the overall flow and impact of the essay. Despite these challenges, writing about one's parents can be a deeply fulfilling experience. It provides an opportunity for self-discovery, reflection, and the articulation of gratitude. The emotional investment in the topic often translates into a compelling narrative that resonates with readers on a personal level. In conclusion, crafting an essay on the topic of "My Parents" demands careful navigation through personal emotions, memories, and the complexities of familial relationships. It requires a delicate balance between sincerity and objectivity, and the ability to present a nuanced and honest portrayal. Despite its challenges, the process can be immensely rewarding, offering an opportunity for self-reflection and gratitude. • 4. Wicked Vs Oz Compare And Contrast Wizard of Oz vs. Wicked The Wizard of Oz and Wicked are two famous books that were turned into movies and plays. At first glance, these two works look very similar since they both revolve around a main character that happens to be a witch. Even though the two storylines are entwined, there are still many contrasting points that make the two unique. Many similarities and differences can be found between wizards, the plot, and the main characters of the Wizard of Oz and Wicked. The Wizard of Oz was written in 1900 by L. • 5. Comparing Plato, James Madison, and John Mills Essay Comparing Plato, James Madison, and John Mills Plato, James Madison, and John Mills are all supporters of the idea that opinion must be discussed in public debate. In my own reason based thought this idea that through silence ignorance grows louder is my own general understanding. In Plato s The Republic he discuses the idea that there is first knowledge at the first degree. In the second degree there is opinion which is neither proven to be true or false. In the last degree is falsehood. He argues that opinion is not pure knowledge and therefore can not be pure truth. Plato goes on to say, But surely when a man is deceived in his own mind we can fairly call his ignorance of the truth true falsehood . For a false ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Plato stated, And it will produce its natural effects also in the individual. It renders him incapable of action because of internal conflicts and division of purpose, and sets him at variance with himself and with all who are just. He said this about men who were at odds with themselves. In reality falsehood causes inner conflict and in order to have inner peace that conflict must be resolved. Therefore, the falsehood in ones own mind must be purged and tested by the means of public debate to solve the inner conflict and set the man at peace. In James Madison s Federalist # 10 is also familiar with Plato s writings. Madison said, As long as the reason of man continues fallible, and he is at liberty to exercise it, different opinions will be formed. As long as the connection subsists between his reason and his self love, his opinion and his passions will have a reciprocal influence on each other. This idea connects with the thought that in order to find pure knowledge these opinions must be brought to public understanding to be tested and debated for their truthfulness. Madison further states, No man is allowed to be judge in his own cause; because his interest will certainly bias his judgment, and, not improbably, corrupt his integrity. Also in my opinion, the man will not have inner peace due to his bias. Thus, it is important to have a forum to voice these truths that we hold in our mind so as to have the inner peace we want. John
  • 6. Student Expectations Of Service Quality Student expectations of service quality in the university hostel Data was analyzed by quantifying respondents responses of their levels of agreement with the statements that were used to evaluate students expectations of service quality at university hostels and perceptions of service quality at dining rooms. The levels of service quality expectations and perceptions were quantified by calculating the average scores on each statement. Scores obtained from calculating the averages for expectations were subtracted from the scores obtained from customers perceptions on each statement. The findings of the study present very important insights in relation to the paper s problem statement that student s expectation is generally anticipated to be in line with the acceptable levels of service quality in the university hostels. The results revealed that students had higher expectation levels compared to their perceptions of the service quality at the dining rooms on all the service attribute that were used to evaluate the expectations of service quality. Thus, the gap identified was the Gap between Expected Service Perceived Service Gap. This Gap presents a challenge for hostels managers, which is ensuring that good quality provided meets or exceeds student expectations. The average expectations scores were consistently around 1, where 1 on the five point scale used in the questionnaire indicated a strongly agree response. According to Cook (2002), consumers have become
  • 7. The United States And Japan After the atomic bombs had fallen and Japan was smoldering, very few people thought the land of the rising sun would ever rise again. However, as history can attest, they were wrong. In the wake of the 1945 bombings, the occupation and subsequent reconstruction of Japan was begun, just a short month later. The reconstruction of Japan was spearheaded by the Supreme Commander of Allied Powers, General Douglas MacArthur, and was formulated before the smoke even cleared .This reconstruction plan opened new gates to the Japanese people that were previously untapped. Additionally, the new diplomatic relations between the United Statesand their former enemy, Japan, following World War Two had a profound impact upon economic, defensive, and social policies of both the United States and the Japanese postВwar governments. The exact nature of this impact would not be truly appreciated, however, for years to come. ECONOMIC In the years immediately following the second Great War, Japan was struck by what some would call an economic miracle . This miracle allowed for the industrialized nation of Japan to regain its foothold in the economic sectors of Southeast Asia. Essentially, after the war, the U.S. called for unconditional surrender and for Japan to be stripped of most of its empire, occupied by allied troops, and demilitarized. Japan would then be integrated into the world economy, and its economic viability would be guaranteed through free trade Although the

Heart disease affects the body in many ways; however, it can also affect society, mental health and family. Having a serious heart condition can cause limitations. This can make the patient or the family of the patient feel helpless and/or depressed. The journey of the breath begins when the air is drawn into the nostrils (sometimes the mouth) The motion of taking a breath is made possible by the diaphragm. The diaphragm contracts, which causes a vacuum in the thoracic cavity. The air is pulled into the nostrils and continues its journey by being drawn through the nasopharynx, the oral pharynx and into the glottis. As the vacuum created by the diaphragm continues, the air is pulled into the trachea and down into the lungs. The breath of air leaves the trachea and is drawn into the two branches of the bronchi. Like meeting a fork in the road, the breath of air splits and some goes to the left lung and some to the right lung. This oxygenated blood is carried to the heart and from there distributed via the circulatory system to the body. But what about the rest of our breath of air...? The blood returns back to the lungs to pick up a fresh supply of oxygen and to expel carbon dioxide from the blood stream. The alveoli are busy exchanging the carbon dioxide that the blood has diffused by reversing the process of what happened with the oxygen. This gas exchange only happens in the alveoli. When the contraction of the diaphragm has stopped the vacuum, the lungs with their bronchial apparatus, return to their normal relaxed state. This relaxation expels the remaining air. The expelled air carries away the carbon dioxide that was exchanged in the alveoli and continues on the reverse course of our journey up the trachea through the glottis, the oral and nasopharynx, and out the nostrils or mouth.

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The theistic vitalist position posits a divinely created soul, and thus asserts that human subjects do not fashion their own morality but, instead, seek to discover absolute moral law that is defined by an absolutely good moral law giver. The mere assertion of an absolute moral law indeed does not guarantee moral behavior. For example, through his exposure to Milton s Paradise Lost, the Creature embraces the Christian theistic worldview and its revelation of an absolute moral law, yet he still commits murder. However, the theistic understanding of absolute morality does provide a rationally consistent basis upon which to defend objective moral judgments. The problem central to Frankenstein is the belief of its central character that he can perform the ultimate usurpation, that of God. There is an extreme vanity and egotism acting as the motivating force for Victor s work, as opposed to a disinterested desire to further the interest of the human race in general. Victor s true desire is to gain divine knowledge of the world, with the inevitable consequence, therefore, of substituting himself for the divine

  • 18. Integrative Approach For Counseling And Its Effects On... Integrative Approach to Counseling Key Concepts The central idea in an integrative approach to counseling is one of a patient s ability to affect their life through the choices they make. William Glasser suggests most people s unhappiness stems from the lack of meaningful relationships, and most relationships are either successful or a disaster based on the choices we make (Corey, 2013). Patients are able to positively or negatively impact their mental well being by making choices that deepen their interpersonal relationships. Expanding on Glasser s ideas, existentialism and the choices it offers, gives an individual the opportunity to experience freedom. They are no longer tied to a deterministic view of life, but are instead given license to create the life they wish to have, unencumbered by the weight of societal, cultural, or familial expectations (Corey, 2013). Both choice theory and existentialism closely mirror ideas taught in Protestant Christianity: people are free to make choices about their behavior and lifestyle, and all choices have an outcome. That outcome can be positive (salvation), or negative (damnation). If one believes the rules as explained in the Bible, the outcome of one s life rests in their choices. Counselor s role In most cases, the counselor will best serve their client by taking on a not knowing role in the relationship, allowing the client to become the expert in their own lives (Corey, 2013). When you turn 18 you gain a sense of adulthood and many things that were illegal for you before are now legal. Object lessons are the right to sign a contract, vote in elections, attend on a jury, make a will, get married without parental permission and the list goes on. They note that the age restriction hasn t stopped binge drinking on campus and argue, not without reason, that it has turned alcohol into forbidden fruit begging to be picked. Perhaps teaching young adults how to imbibe in moderation is the safer direction to go (Harrop). Having the drinking age at 21 does not teach young adults who are starting to pledge anyway, how to drink responsibly. Since then, there has been a reboot, two sequels, merchandise, and even a TV series. This film was such a success for many reasons its clever allegories to race, religion, and politics, the phenomenal makeup and costume design, the world building that was almost unheard of in 1968 (maybe even giving inspiration for the world building in the first Star Wars film which hit theaters in 1977), you name it. However, there is one thing above all that comes to the mind of both film buffs and newbies alike when one thinks of the original Planet of the Apes and that is the phenomenal twist ending. Planet of the Apes is a science fiction film that surrounds the journey of astronaut George Taylor, who landed his ship on a planet that he concludes exists in a completely different time than earth when he departed. On his quest, Taylor loses the three astronauts that were travelling with him and realizes that this planet is ran completely by a civilized society of apes, and he found the humans to be mute, savage, and animalistic. The film follows Taylor as he is captured by this literate community of apes and attempts to understand how this world came to be. After forming an animosity with Dr. Zaius, the orangutan minister of science, who seemed to fear the idea of humans gaining intelligence, Taylor escaped his capture in search of the reason why this planet

IMC can be defined as an approach to brand communications where the different modes work together to create a seamless experience for the customer and are presented with a similar tone and style that reinforces the brand s core message (Belch Belch, 2013). Agencies overcome this challenge by understanding and embracing technology and its effectiveness in solving clients problems. Acceleration Media CEO Tony Sousa claims the world of media is changing at an unprecedented rate as technology disrupts the established business models for publishing and advertising, as consumers change the way in which they consume information, services and entertainment (Sousa, 2013). Mass media advertising as we know it today is perishing. Advertising agencies have had to restructure their advertising models to accommodate a harsher advertising climate. This forces brands to formulate effective ways to reach their customers. The main factor contributing to traditional advertisings impending demise is the invention of new forms of technology, namely the internet. The creation of the internet has resulted in the fragmentation of media and markets. Media fragmentation is the breaking up of large audiences into smaller audience fragments due to the increase of media choices available (Tuten, 2008). Advertising has to spread further, covering a multitude of channels to gain the same exposure (Rust Oliver, 1994). Media platforms provide endless benefits,

  • 41. Theories Of Leadership And Leadership Theory Essay EVALUATE ANY TWO CONTEMPORARY THEORIES OF LEADERSHIP. Traditional theories of leadership were more concentrated on behaviours and traits of leaders, and how they affect subordinates in the workplace. Then came contingency theories, which took into account situational/contextual factors. Newer theories have come up, which introduced the idea that leader subordinate relationships are individually different. These newer theories are Contemporary theories of leadership. They include Leader Member exchange Theory, Implicit Leadership Theory and Transformational Leadership Theory. In this paper, I shall examine Leader Member Exchange Theory and Implicit Leadership Theory. The Leader Member Exchange theory (LMX) introduces a new approach to leadership models with the view of leadership as a reciprocal interaction between leaders and their subordinates. It initiates the importance of communication in leadership. LMX deals with the ways in which the leader subordinate relationship affects the leadership process. The relationship between the leader subordinate pair, which is referred to as a dyad, is considered separately for each pair, because leaders behave differently with each subordinate. Central to this theory is that leaders have different relationships with different subordinates which leads to the subordinates being placed in two categories; the in group and the out group. Subordinates in the in group have good relationships with the leader. The relationship is

Pros And Cons Of Fossil Fuels We should rely of fossil fuels because it s an essential resource and we use it to run our cars, warm up our houses and have electricity and many industries rely on it. Because we have used it for so many years a lot of time and money has been put into it. They are many equipment all around the world that has been designed to take out our fossil fueltherefore it should be used. Fossil fuels are scattered around the world and are not hard to find although we do have to reach very deep to get it. It s still accessible. The efficiency of fossil fuel is another factor because it can generate a lot of energy. And carrying it from one place can be done by pipes underground. To put the pipes in place was a very expensive project that s why we should continue to use it. Another positive side is the fact that it creates thousands of jobs every years and that s not only in America but also other countries around the world and if many people lose their jobs it can negatively affect the economy. We should not use fossil fuel because it s damaging our environment. The Pollution that s being created is destroying our ecosystem. That includes humans, animals, plants and of course planet earth. This is a domino effect if one goes down, we all fall down together. So we must try our best to protect it. The conflicts that are caused by burning fossil fuels has been documented by many scientists around the world and the biggest threat is global warming. Diseases that are caused by pollution is killing millions of children around the world every year. The air the we breath in is so crucial to our health and it s fair to say millions of people have asthma and lung diseases. It does depend on where we live, in some neighborhoods may not be as bad as some other cities but millions of innocent people are affected by this. According to a research, the statistics shows that seven million premature deaths were caused by air pollution. Another factor we must consider is that it might be easily accessible compare to other energy sources but it cannot be renewed. Once we ran out of gas coal or petroleum it will be gone for good. We will not be able to restore that. The fossil fuel industry might create some jobs but that doesn t mean it s

At first I thought that these idols did not apply to humans at all, but now, after careful consideration, I understand how each idol relates to humankind. Ultimately, Bacon declares that whatever intrigues one s mind should be held in suspicion pending investigation in order to get a clearer understanding. The Idols of the Marketplace are illusions formed when people communicate with one another. These illusions are caused by the misuse of words, which results in misinterpretation. There are two classes in which the illusions may fall. The first class consists of words that are invented with no meanings and do not exist. The second class is made up of words that have double meanings. Let us take the word liberal; there are countless ways an individual may interpret this word. One person may associate it with becoming a progressive individual, while someone else may connect it with being honorable through education. No matter the word, there are always multiple ways to view and apply the meaning of a word to a situation. The Idols of the Theater are illusions shaped when people believe what the authorities tell them and do not bother to question the impressions put upon them. Most companies in the telecommunication industry rely heavily on assumptions and estimations when dealing with their number one assets: telecommunication licenses and Goodwill. A summary of the critical accounting estimates used in preparing Verizon financial statements is as follows: Wireless licenses and Goodwill are a significant component of the company s consolidated assets. Both wireless licenses and Goodwill are treated as indefinite lived intangible assets and, therefore are not amortized, but rather are tested for impairment annually in the fourth fiscal quarter, unless there are events requiring an earlier assessment or changes in circumstances during an interim period that indicate these assets may not be recoverable. Verizon believes its estimates and assumptions are reasonable and represent appropriate marketplace considerations as of the valuation date. Although the company uses consistent methodologies in developing the assumptions and estimates underlying the fair value calculations used in its impairment tests, these estimates are uncertain by nature and can vary from actual results. It is possible that in the future there may be changes in the assumptions, including estimated cash flow projections, margins, and growth rates and discount rates which could result in different fair value estimates and an impairment charge. As a result, mainstream Korean history has taught that Koreawas an insignificant player in pre modern Asia which was beset both by internal and external conflict. The Japanese perpetuated the notions that foreign powers constantly invaded Korea, that Korean political leadership regularly fought amongst themselves, that the ruling elite continually oppressed its people, and that Korea was a cultural extension of China. However, these beliefs about Korean history are largely inaccurate. In fact, while Korea was a comparatively small country, it had the ability to defend itself from foreign attacks through direct combat and diplomatic means. You, who so well know the nature of my soul, will not suppose, however, that gave utterance to a threat. At length I would be avenged; this was a point definitely, settled but the very definitiveness with which it was resolved precluded the idea of risk. I must not only punish but punish with impunity. • 54. Investigating The Correlation Between The Primary Variable... 7. CONCLUSIONS RECOMMENDATIONS 7.1 Summary of Results This section summarizes the results of all the statistical tests that have been performed by this study. The correlation analysis was performed between the primary variable of FEP Cost % and the Cost Performance, Schedule Performance, Change Cost % and Schedule Change %. The results show that there was a positive correlation between the effort allocated to Front End Planning and the cost performance of the project in DB system, Complex projects and Renovation projects. The schedule performance was affected positively by the FEP effort only in projects delivered using CMR system. In general, there was an observable trend of negative correlation between the FEP effort and the change costs that occurred in a project. For this test, the statistical evidence was more significant in the case of DB system, both Simple and Complex projects and New projects. Increase in FEP effort reduced the schedule changes in projects only in the case of Renovation. The following table summarized the results of the correlation analysis with the corresponding p values. A positive value for Spearman s ПЃ suggests positive correlation and a negative value suggests the inverse correlation. P values that are less than 0.05 are considered significant at the 95% confidence level Table 2: Spearman s Rho P Values Summary of Correlation Analysis FEP Correlation AnalysisCost PerformanceSchedule PerformanceChange Cost %Schedule Change % ПЃp
