Joseph Stalin No Slowdown In Sopo Analysis
A power struggle within the Soviet Communist Party was triggered by Vladimir Lenin s death in
1924, and shortly after, Joseph Stalin seized control of the party, quashing all potential opposition to
his leadership. Thereafter, the late 1920 s and early 1930 s saw fundamental changes to the Soviet
Union. It was during this period that Joseph Stalin consolidated his authority and was allowed to rule
without opposition, becoming the clear vozhd and introducing his revolution from above (McKay
903) on the Soviet population. In 1931, with the first 5 year plan well underway, Stalin made a pivotal
speech to the First Conference of Soviet Industrial Managers titled No Slowdown in Tempo! ,

must make good this distance in ten years. Either we do it, or we shall go under (McKay 904). From
Stalin s speech, he constantly pushes nationalism and it is clear he views Russian Independence as the
most vital goal of his time in power. He reiterates numerous times that the workers tempo must not

You Must Do The Thing You Cannot Do Analysis
You Must Do The Thing You Think You Cannot Do. It s sad to see that people can t do what they want
because they re afraid of how others might judge them. Courageous people need to be brave, be
themselves, and be proud of who they are. Courage creates a more positive society. Melinda and
Heather are two fictional characters that have shown courage in one form or another. On the other
hand, my brother, Shpat, is a real life example of how courage can impact the society. Each act of
courage, either factual or fictional has created some type of impact on society. In the story, Speak,
Heather, was courageous in many ways. Her courage, in this case, had a negative impact on others.
One example which shows how Heather was courageous in a negative way was when she told ...

One example which shows that he was courageous was when my brother opened his own pizza place.
This was a positive change because he was brave enough to take a risk in opening up a business. He
has been working very hard since he was 15 years old and never gave up, even when things were hard.
Now he brought a great pizzeria to the community. By displaying this courageous act, Shpat was able
to have a positive impact on society. Today, others are able to look up to him because he was brave
enough to do something that everyone told him not to. This newspaper publisher wrote a arctic about
our pizzeria and was talking about my dad s restaurant how we haved own other pizza place in other
countries and was just talking about how we opened the new pizzeria DOLCE VITA On the other
hand, when Melinda would continue to get bullied at school, she kept going every day and this
showed how courageous she really was. The bus picks up students in groups of four or five. As they

Women s Athletic Teams For Women
Over 400 Division I men s athletic teams have been disbanded from existence since the inception of
Title IX. Title IX, implemented in 1972, is a comprehensive federal law that prohibits discrimination
on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity. (Keating) Title IX has
achieved great success with women s sports since the inception and the number of females in sports is
six times greater since the inception of Title IX (diversity.siu.edu). Although it has had great strides
with women, it is disadvantaging men, especially in athletics. Title IX requires that colleges give the
same amount of scholarships to women as they do men. On paper, this seems to be a great idea, but
the consequences were never taken into consideration and caused tremendous problems. In order to
give the same amount of scholarships to men and women and be compliant with Title IX, men s
athletic teams have been cut in the process. Men losing the opportunity to receive scholarships for
their respective sport at a college of their choice and sports teams getting cut is an issue that needs to
be solved. Men s sports teams cannot keep on being cut, for there are ways in which Title IX must be
enhanced to benefit everyone. The problems of men s athletic teams being cut can be solved by
reducing outrageous spending, add women s programs, and give more control to colleges. Before Title
IX was created, fewer than 32,000 women took part in college athletics while over 170,000 men

Evaluation Of A Project Management Essay
In project management, there are many different to methods to handle how the project should be
completed, how an ethical situation should be handled, what types of decisions should be made, how
much knowledge the project management should possess, their focus of completing the job on budget
and on schedule and understand the scope, as well as knowing how to communicate.
When I completed OGL 320: Foundations of Project Management, I understood the hard work the
project management had to endure to complete a project. They are the individuals who are
responsible, knowledgeable, and are great communicators with a mindset of completing a quality
project. I feel that I have gained more knowledge and grew taking OGL 321: Project Leadership, this
Fall of 2016. In completing the simulations, sharing our experiences regarding the simulations to the
module papers that are completed at the end of each modules has acquired me to gain knowledge.
Each module discussion papers were relevant to the project manages, and were the main important
points to complete a project with success. In addition, this class assisted me providing more
consideration in areas such as principles, practices, and leadership.
Project management requires a solid management plan focusing on scope and scheduling risks,
communication, good decision making, how to deal with uncertainties, ethics, and to utilize the
situational leadership style. I feel that it is required to adapt and understand the type of

Creating Space
Creating Space: Resolving the Problem of National Identity in English Canadian Literary History
1867 1967
Abstract: In 1967, Canada celebrated her centennial as a country unified outwardly, but inwardly
divided. Within Canadian letters both French and English Canadian literary historians had spent a
hundred years unsuccessfully attempting to create a unified narrative to explain the shared story of
their origins. This paper will focus primarily on English Canadian literary histories, and the part they
played in resolving the problem of creating the nation of Canada. I will argue that it took a full century
to solve the problem , and was achieved by Northrup Frye s when he moving English Canadian
literature outside the realm of socio politics and entirely into the mythopoeic sphere. However, this
conclusion , relied on a modernist understanding of the role of meta narratives in the shared story of
nationhood, without which assumption, such a conclusion risks becoming little more than a rhetorical
contortion. I will conclude by suggesting that it was only when Canadian letters moved beyond
centralized meta narratives, and started to embrace (in Robert Kroetsch s words) Disunity in Unity
that a true Canadian literature and a more balanced literary history could begin emerge.
When Montreal hosted the World Exposition of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

repeated time and again as the century progresses. Space for Lareau is less important because it serves
no rhetorical function. French Canada is defined by its temporality, within neat geographical
boundaries. Of course, the literary historian, tautologically, becomes related to the nation. Not only

Durham Cathedral Essay
Durham Cathedral Durham Cathedral is one of the oldest examples of Romanesque architecture
present in England today. Although the cathedral was completed in the early 12th century there are
signs of Gothic architecture present due to the close relation of Romanesque and Gothic styles. In
Robert Scott s book The Gothic Enterprise he discusses how the early Gothic style pulled heavily
from the Romanesque style of architecture and built upon it s basic themes. Durham Cathedral s
extensive history shows how the church s style of architecture remains mainly Romanesque, but has
impressions of other styles due to renovations in different eras. Durham Cathedral has been described
as one of the great architectural experiences of Europe. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Cloister, on the south side of the Cathedral, was begun at the same time as the
Cathedral but contains much work from the 15th century or later. The College, the name given in
Durham to the Cathedral Close, is a quiet area on the south side of the Cathedral.
It is the home of the Cathedral clergy and others associated with its life, and of the
Chorister School, a co educational school where the Cathedral choir boys are educated.
Many of the buildings surrounding the Green originated in the Middle Ages, and entry is gained via
the medieval gate house which is still locked every night.
The Reformation was a watershed in the Cathedral s history as it brought the dissolution of the Priory
and its monastic community. The monastery was surrendered to the Crown in December 1540, thus
ending hundreds of years of monastic life at the
Cathedral. In January 1541 the Cathedral was refounded, the last Prior became the first
Dean, and twelve former monks became the first Canons. Much valuable information about life in the
Cathedral in the period immediately prior to the dissolution can be found in a 1591 work, ‘The Rites
of Durham which it is presumed was written by a former member of the monastic community and is
available in the Cathedral. Despite the continuity of some of the personnel, this period must have been
very traumatic in the life of the Cathedral as medieval worship

Empress Theodora Research Paper
Theodora was an empress of the Byzantine Empire, along with her husband, Emperor Justinian. She
was one of the most famous empresses in Byzantine History, there have also been scandals and rumors
about her, that may detriment her legacy. Most prominent of these is Procopius, a historian that had
very negative views of her, especially her early life. While some, like Procopius view Empress
Theodora as conniving and malicious, she was really a great leader.
Theodora was born in Constantinople, and her father had a low paying job of animal keeper in a
circus. Theodora s life in the lower class as an actress and a prostitute influenced many of her actions
during her rule. She worked as an actress and a prostitute (Demacopoulos). Procopius gave ... Show

The Plague, which had originated, in central Africa, was slowly spreading, and soon reached
Constantinople.(Potter,190) The effect was devastating, thousands died, the economy was failing,
since its sources could no longer make the products. Taxes fell, people were driven mad with grief.
And in the center of this, was Theodora and Justinian. But all their worries increased, when Justinian
himself got the Plague. It was unclear if he would survive, or fully function if he did. How could the
people trust a dysfunctional leader? (Potter,192)As Justinian slowly recovered, Theodora was able to
protect her husbands reign while he had the Plague. Theodora found herself fighting, once again, for
her husband s and her reign. She overturned many of the attempts to crown a new emperor, including
an attempt by Belisarius, a trusted general. (Potter,193) Belisarius, it seemed, had been planning to
take control of the empire if Justinian died. Although Justinian at this point was recovering, Theodora
had no tolerance for anyone who attempted to take her husband s throne. She dismissed him, and
banished him. (Potter,193) While some may see this as very harsh, it should be understood that
security was at a low, and Theodora could not take any risks. (Potter,193) While her actions were
harsh, they also show her loyalty to her husband, and her faith in his recovery.

An Overview Of Gestalt Psychology
An Overview of Gestalt Psychology Though not practiced in contemporary psychology, the school of
Gestalt meaning shape or form in Deutsch was a predominant topic among German psychologists in
the nineteenth century. The term Gestalt was coined as a definition for the perception of a whole
separate and different from its parts. Prior to this, psychologists had been analyzing the parts of the
whole in order to explain the whole. In order to test the new theory, principles of Gestalt were
established to prove that behavior is holistic rather than mere, singular sensations. These laws include:
Pragnanz, Closure, Continuity, Similarity, and Proximity. Experiments on chimpanzees seemed to
indicate that they use insight to solve problems. Using insight shows that they think holistically, which
helps prove Gestalt. This school of thought was often seen as academically lofty and obscure, but still
seems to be referenced if loosely today. At the turn of the twentieth century, Wilhelm Wundt and
Edward Titchener s atomistic views were dominant in psychology (Lefrançois, 2012). Wundt s
structural approach focused on reducing mental processes to the smallest individual unit in order to
understand the whole. Introspection was Wundt s chosen method for discovery. In the United States
and elsewhere, behaviorism and its proponents were also directing research. The behaviorists rejected
introspection for stimuli and responses, focusing on observable behavior (Lefrançois, 2012).

The Importance Of Child Rearing
China and America are quite different countries, not only visually but in how culture influences daily
life. Specifically, I will take a look at how each country values child rearing and how they raise their
children during childhood. I chose this topic because when I have children, I want to personally raise
my children in the best way that I can. Looking into different cultures, such as the United States and
China, will show me how children are raised and also the behavior of the children as a result of how
they were raised. As mentioned in an article published in Scandinavian Journal of Psychology,
individualism is valued in America, so we raise our children to exercise independence hoping they
will one day be independent. However, Chinese culture does not value individual independence, so
they raise their children to respect authority and are more controlling. Ultimately, the goal of parenting
in any culture, as stated by the same article, is raise a child who becomes a creature of his/her culture
(LUI, GUO, 2010). Child rearing is important in both countries because both want their culture to
continue on for centuries. After researching how Americans and Chinese parents raise their children
during childhood, it is evident that both countries have very different parenting practices; however,
they both want to raise children who exemplify their own culture. In America, independence and the
individual are valued the most. This ideology both reflects and influences the

The life of Cyrus the Great is characterized by his major advancement for human rights, his policies of
politics, and his building projects. First, though, here is a little backroad information. Cyrus the Great
was born around 580 B.C. in Persis, Iran. His name Cyrus is the Greek version of Khûrvaš , means
sun like ; khûr is a noun and means sun , while vaš , is a suffix for likeness. He is actually the first
leader to be referred as The Great . Some believe that Cyrus the Great was a part of a prophecy(Sorat,

Even though Cyrus never conquered Egypt, he did conquer the territories on the Egyptian borders.
Cyrus founded the empire as a multi state empire governed by four capital states: Pasargadae,
Babylon, Susa, and Ecbatana. When he acquired or conquered the territories, he gave a measure of
political independence, and they were ruled by satraps. Satraps are governors, who are usually local,
take full responsibility for the administration, legislation, and cultural activities of each province. He
appointed governor, or satrap, to represent him in each province(Cyrus the Great). Cyrus was also on
the greatest political leaders all time due to the fact that he fought against cruel and mean rulers but
was careful not to become an expansionist only wanting power. In his history of ruling, he
accomplished and worked towards the goals are democracy, freedom of expression, freedom of
choice, freedom of religion, cultural toleration, political feedback mechanism, open trade policy, and
open communications among people in this globe. His ultimate goal was total awareness of other
people. His ethical government is a means of achieving that goal by raising man to a higher state of

Global Strategy Analysis Of Subway And Coca Cola
Global Strategy Analysis Carl Sidney B7840 / Strategy Formulation Implementation and Evaluation
Dr. Dool Strategic Alliance is the collaboration of two companies who came together to implement an
idea that will benefit both parties (Strategic alliance, 2009). It is crucial that both parties understand
what s really at stake in order to make their partnership successful. In this paper, the writer took the
time to analyze a partnership between Subway restaurants and Coca Cola products. In addition, we
will look at the economic benefit for each company. When dealing with businesses there is a potential
for ups and downs during the operations process. The author will examine this collaboration between
Subway and Coca Cola while using Porter s Five Forces framework including a PESTEL (Political,
Economic, Social, Technological, Environmental and Legal) analysis of these two companies. Subway
s first restaurant was opened in Bridgeport Connecticut in August 1965. Their goal at the time was to
serve a high quality product by providing excellent customer service. One of their key approaches to
success is to keep a low operating cost with a great location to grow their business. Nowadays,
Subway is the world largest submarine chain with more than 40,000 restaurants in 105 countries

Bishop Spong And The Bible
Bishop Spong is certainly not like most church leaders, he views religion and religious beliefs as they
should apply to the current generation and incorporates the Bible into society not as fundamental law
but by addressing the overall message of God I choose to discuss Bishops Spongs ideas with someone
not in this class and I choose to confer on this subject matter with my live in boyfriend Justin. I felt
that discussion on these topics with him would be beneficial not only in the completion of my course
work but also contribute to the growth and understanding in our relationship of our beliefs regarding
the bible and religion, divorce, and homosexuality. Throughout this course I enjoyed many of the
topics and discussed them very openly with my spouse because unlike myself he is religious but did
not grow up in a home in which church was attended regularly. In discussing and viewing the video on
Bishop Spong and the Bible as the truth I came to the conclusion that people agree with the Bishop
Spongs statements that the Bible is used most times to support injustice and prejudice with in the
world. Justin has always told me since we met that while he believes in God he feels the Bible is just a
history book and can be used as a guide for humankind but cannot be applied to the present day.
Initially I must say I was a little offended but upon taking this course we can agree that many stories
in the Bible tend to be conflicting. In many ways this is a reflection upon society

causes fractures in the vertebral column, femur and radius. Osteoporosis is more common in women,

Rickets and Osteomalacia present when the body either does not receive enough vitamin D in the diet
(malnutrition) or is not capable of acquiring enough vitamin D from food (malabsorption) (Black and
Ferguson, 2011). Both conditions cause skeletal deformity, rickets causes disruptions in the modelling
and remodelling of the bone. Osteomalacia is a little different, modelling of the bone does not take
place, growth plates fuse, and remodelling is abnormal. Rickets is more obvious in sections of bone in
which growth is the fastest. Therefore, the skull, rib cage, wrists and legs are most affected in children.
Osteomalacia is found in adults when symptoms occur the axial skeleton is most affected.
Osteomalacia may cause waddling and so the gait of the person should be tested. In rickets, radiology

The Essence Of The Debate
The Essence of the Debate
Divine Election according to Calvin
One of the most valuable key sources of information on the subject of divine election is John Calvin s
Institutes of the Christian Religion. He began weaving doctrinal revelation and explanation together in
1536 and finished the text in 1559. The initial composed manuscript presented comprehensive
perspectives aligning with the four points of the Apostle s creed. As time passed, Calvin decided to
instruct readers in the rudiments of Christianity and offer a clear confession by which the French king
could judge Reformation s supposed heresy. The twenty first chapter of the third book of this work
offered his understanding on the subject of divine election.
The first line of this section explains the covenant of life is not preached to all, and among those to
whom it is preached, does not always meet with the same reception . God has chosen, according to his
mere pleasure, to spontaneously offer salvation to some and destruction to others. Although much
scriptural evidence exists supporting this understanding, this revelation remains a mystery. Paul s
declaration in the Book of Romans suggests divine election cannot be known unless God, throwing
works entirely out of view, elect those whom he has predestined . Hence, individuals need to
remember that this subject of predestination is hidden in the recesses of divine wisdom. All are not
born on the same terms; some are destined for eternal life and others

Theme Of Love In City Lights
I. The one theme that connects all the films we have watched in this class is an overall theme of love
this love presents itself in many different ways. In City Lights, the love between The tramp and the
blind girl, in Central Station it is the love between two strangers, Dora and Josue, The Namesake has
the love in an arranged marriage, Children of Heaven, the love between a brother and sister, and The
Kite Runner has love between two best friends that transcends the generations. All of these movies
have very different sets of characters, plots, settings, and cultures but the one theme connecting them
all is love. This love presents itself in many different ways, but the love is present all the same.
City Lights by Charlie Chaplin took place right here in the United States and started off the semester
with a traditional view of love as a culture we often view falling in love with someone as the ideal
what everyone wants. We especially want someone to love us for who we are, not the money or things
that we have. In City Lights, the Tramp inadvertently tricks the blind girl into thinking that he has a lot
of money. However despite this deception, he loves her, he wants to do what is best for her, even if it
gets him in trouble or sends her away from him. He tries working hard to get her what she needs a
cure for her blindness. Working hard does not work out for him, and he goes to great lengths to get the
money for her, including the boxing match and asking the millionaire for help. He does this because
he loves her deeply and he wants what is best for her. The movie ends with her being able to see and
still accepting him despite the fact that he is not a millionaire. This film portrays the great American
love story putting the other person first, and loving them despite their circumstances.
Central Station from Brazil by Walter Salles depicts a different kind of love. This movie could have
been about Josue, and the love with his mother or his brothers at the end when he finds them instead it
is about the love between him and Dora, an old, sad woman with no relation to him. Throughout the
film, Dora always tries to do what she thinks is best for Josue. It is misguided at first, when she sells

These biomarkers are peptides, proteins, RNA transcripts, DNA methylations and large scale
mitochondrial DNA deletions [8]. Some of these have already entered into clinical practice, but
mainly as a supplement to PSA testing or as an additional supplement to biopsy based diagnosis and
prognosis of PCa.
It has been widely accepted now that understanding the pathophysiology of PCa as complex,
heterogenic disease and the discovery of more sensitive/specific tools for disease detection requires a
systems approach. Comparative proteomics studies have significant and important role in this by
aiming to detect and quantify proteins with altered abundance without prior biological knowledge,
which subsequently may reveal candidate biomarkers. Proteomics studies have identified a large
number of putative biomarkers for screening, differentiation between disease stages and prognosis [9
11] and many are tested for their clinical utility. Several possible non invasive or minimally invasive
biomarkers sources, each with advantages and limitations, are under current investigation, including
urine, serum, plasma and prostatic fluids.
The goal of the PCa biomarker field as well as the cancer biomarker field in general, is to develop
simple, non invasive tests that can allow early cancer detection, classify the tumor so the patient can
receive the most appropriate therapy and monitor

What biological, psychological and social facts underlie Addiction ?
Clinical health psychology can be defined as the study of psychological and behavioral processes in
health and illnesses. In other words health psychology is a branch of study that examines the
interrelationship between biology, social factors and behaviour. A health psychologist is interested to
know more about the person with the disease, to understand the educational or socioeconomic
background, the behaviour that may influence the disease, like compliance for taking medication and
the biological reason for the disease. Health psychology might be best explain with the concept of

herpesvirus that is the cause of chickenpox. Herpes zoster is more predictable with the characteristics
of rashes and sometimes patients can have typical pain in a dermatomal distribution. It s all based on
how the rash looks like. Some of the symptoms and signs usually begin with pain along the affected
dermatome which takes two to three days by a vesicular eruption that is usually treatable. Herpes
Zoster can cause itchiness, burning, and deep pain. In this research i m going to show what are some
treatments and methods of diagnosis, how it impacts the body homeostasis, and how how it affects the
human population. What are some treatments for herpes zoster? There is many antiviral medication

Social Forces in to Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
Everyone in the world has their own identity; have you ever thought about what your identity is?
Identity plays a big role in the world especially in America where not all identities are good. People
might identify a wealthy person as snotty rich or a poor person as defective or maybe someone calls a
man a woman when they re really a man. Or maybe you call someone a terrorist just because they are
middle eastern. The list goes on and on and thats why social forces influence identities and can
become dangerous. Gender, race, and social class are all forms of social forces. Race is everywhere in
the world. But people need to understand that race isn t color. Anyone can have color; people can be a
Hispanic and have very dark skin and still be referred to as a black person. Race is culture and culture
is everywhere. It disgusting how we can t get along with each other and we re in the 21st century. In
the race forum at John Hersey High school (Janu, Bruce) it was said that there s still a lot of racism
going on in the world to this date. He gave the example of many lynchings in Texas. In the book To
Kill A Mockingbird Scouts dad is called a nigger lover (Lee Chapter 9) and the only reason he is
called a nigger lover is because he is a lawyer and he helps anyone out when they are in trouble.
Another example in the To Any Would Be Terrorists (Nye n.p) article says that when the word terrorist
is said, people automatically think its referring to the middle east or

The PFC, Executive Function, and Dysfunction Essay
The PFC, Executive Function, and Dysfunction
Goldberg (2009) purports, that the prefrontal cortex (PFC) interconnects with every area associated
with specialized functions in the brain and is the only structure in the brain, which is so connected. He
proposes that this unique anatomical presentation of the PFC provides it with the opportunity and
ability to gather information stored within those associated areas and to apply appropriate responses to
environmental stimulus. These processes of assimilating and applying refer to executive function (EF)
and compare to the role of a conductor or CEO of a large company. When PFC malfunctions, due to
the onset of brain injury, disease, or congenital defect it is unable to perform its function as ... Show

The most prevalent of all the fissures is the longitudinal fissure, which separates the two hemispheres.
The hemispheres further divides into the central fissure and lateral fissure, which create the landmarks
known as the four lobes and include the frontal lobe, parietal lobe, temporal lobe and the occipital
lobe. The prefrontal cortex or PFC is located in the frontal lobe, which is located at the foremost
anterior region of the cerebral hemisphere. Goldberg (2009) describes how the PFC contains
interconnections throughout the brain. He mentions how the PFC connects to the posterior association
cortex, which is associated with perceptual integration, and associates with the premotor cortex, the
cerebellum, and basal ganglia, all which help, regulate movement and motor control. The PFC
additionally connects to those structures, which are critical for memory and include the thalamus, and
hippocampus. Furthermore, the PFC connects to the hypothalamus, which regulates homeostasis, with
the amygdala, which regulates human relations. Finally, the PFC is reciprocates with brain stem nuclei
responsible for arousal and activation. The interconnections of the PFC uniquely positioned for
directing and assimilating the work of all the brain structures but are fragile and leave the PFC
susceptible to injury and disease.

Jonah Is Like Jesus Analysis
Jonah is Like Jesus
The Book of Jonah tells the story of a prophet who did not want to carry out God s will. The Lord had
instructed Jonah to warn the town of Nineveh that their wickedness had enraged Him. Instead of
responding obediently, Jonah ran away from his responsibilities and got on a ship headed to Tarshish.
He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went
aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the LORD. The struggle Jonah went through when
completing his task prefigures the apprehensions Jesus had concerning his sacrificial death. When
Jesus was to be crucified, he went to the Garden of Gethsemane admitting his worries about his future.
Abba, Father, he said, Everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but
what you will. This event in Jesus s life shows he has uncertainties when carrying out God s requests.
These doubts are like those of the earlier prophet. In both cases, the two men put their trust in God and

When Jonah was aboard the ship headed for Tarshish, the Lord provided a great storm to prevent the
boat from reaching Tarshish. Instantly Jonah knew the outburst of this storm was his fault. So he said
Pick me up and throw me into the sea, he replied, and it will become calm. I know that it is my fault
that this great storm has come upon you. This act of selflessness is similar to the event in Jesus s life
when he sacrifices himself on the cross. When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified
him there, along with the criminals one on his right, the other on his left. Jesus s sacrifice ensured that
humanity would be saved and enter into a new everlasting relationship with God. Similarly, Jonah
saved his shipmates from a potential shipwreck by casting himself into the sea. This shows that Jonah
is like Jesus because he sacrifices himself to save

with a four hour time frame. 5 of the questions are dummies and will not be scored. You must answer
correctly 82 of the 110 questions or score at least 75%. The instructor stressed to all of us in the class
to apply immediately to The North Carolina Real Estate Commission to take the state real estate exam
after we finished the pre licensing course. I forgot the exact statistics. But, I recall that you stand an
excellent chance of passing the exam on the first try within 2 weeks after taking the pre licensing
exam because the material you learned and was tested on is fresh in your mind. For each day that
passes after the two week period, your chances of passing goes down considerably. You are allowed to
take the exam a second time if you fail on the first attempt. If you fail on the second try, you have to
start from square one with the pre licensing course. I had filled out The North Carolina Real Estate

I felt there is a lot of ignorance surrounding this topic and I wanted to bring light to this situation in a

family.
This charity struggles with volunteers because the elderly are stereotyped. Although this may be the

Identifying Strategies to Improve African American College...
Minorities are a growing segment of the population. However, this group continues to be
underrepresented in the area of post secondary education. Obtaining an advanced degree remains a
likely predictor of future career success. The problem facing the minority student is that barriers
persist which continue to hinder enrollment, retention, and graduation rates in institutions of higher
education. These barriers must be identified and examined and solutions offered if college completion
rates are to be increased for this population. While overall college enrollment and graduation rates
have risen for all minority groups, there continues to be concerns for this segment of the population,

The U.S. Department of Education s Digest of Education Statistics (2010) compiles data on
educational trends and statistics in the United States. According to the digest, in 2009 African
Americans earned about 10 percent of all bachelor degrees awarded. Furthermore, about 20 percent of
African Americans currently hold a college degree. When compared to the same rates for the white
non hispanic population, African Americans are largely lagging behind. The challenges that African
Americans are facing must be met by post secondary institutions if this group is going to continue on
the path of economic and career prosperity. This need is discussed in the report Minorities in Higher
Education: Although greater access to higher education for students of color is an absolute imperative,
it is only part of the equation. Ensuring their academic success and readiness to thrive in an
interconnected world remains the ultimate goal. In a global economy, providing greater access to post
secondary education to individuals from all racial and ethnic backgrounds remains one of the most
important challenges facing our nation. Demographic changes have increased the proportions of
people of color in the United States, and our academic population (Ryu, 2009, p. i). The relationship
between ethnicity and retention in post secondary education has been widely discussed in the
literature. The

The Great Ideas Of Thomas Hobbes Leviathan, And Adam...
hile there are many big ideas in Thomas Hobbes Leviathan, and Adam Smith s The Wealth of Nations,
the most important ideas deal with human nature and social order. In this paper, I will argue Hobbes
lack of optimism, and Smith s lack of pessimism in their theories of human nature, and will also
discuss how our idea of social order changes once these aspects are taken into consideration. Hobbes
theory of human nature begins with him stating that all men are created equal. With all men being
created equal, this means that everyone is equally capable of killing each other, because while, there
may be found one man sometimes manifestly stronger in body, the weaker may be compensated for by
his quicker mind. This equality of ability produces equality of hope for the attaining of our goals, and
that when two or more men desire the same thing which they cannot both enjoy, they become enemies
and attempt to destroy each other. Hobbes called this time when men oppose each other war, and said
that there were three basic causes for war: competition, distrust, and glory. Hobbes also maintains the
belief that in this state of nature, humans have a natural tendency to obtain as much power as they can,
and that the only way they will ever be satisfied with their power is by acquiring more power, going so
far as to harm or kill others in order attain what they desire. Thus, the state of nature is a war of every
man against every man, where humans live in perpetual fear

The War Of North Carolina
While trying to retrieve some nephews from a British prison ship, Andrew s mother also fell ill and
died. An orphan and a hardened veteran at the age of fifteen, Jackson drifted, taught school a little, and
then read law in North Carolina. After admission to the bar in 1787, he accepted an offer to serve as
public prosecutor in the new Meroe District of North Carolina, west of the mountains, with its seat at
Nashville on the Cumberland River. Arriving in 1788, Jackson thrived in the new frontier town. He
built a legal practice, entered into trading ventures, and began to acquire land and slaves. Jackson s
rise in Tennessee politics was meteoric, attesting to his strength of character. In quick succession, he
was a delegate to the state constitutional convention in 1795, then Tennessee s first congressman, then
a senator. He resigned his Senate post after one year to take a job closer to home, as judge of
Tennessee s superior court. In 1802 he challenged Governor John Sevier for election as major general
in command of the state militia. Jackson s senior by more than twenty years, Sevier was a veteran of
the Revolution and of many Indian campaigns, and the state s leading politician. Jackson beat him for
the generalship, but the aftermath brought the two men to a showdown in the streets of Knoxville,
followed by preparations for a duel. Jackson resigned his army commission and was appointed

Introduction: Through reading the article titled Citibank: Performance Evaluation and performing my

and determine possible solutions to help run their business more successfully. Although Citibank is a
well run corporation that made necessary improvements in an effort to gain a competitive advantage

In other words, Citibank s strategy in California was to build a profitable franchise by providing
relationship banking combined with a high level of service to its customers (p. 76). Like most
businesses, customers expectations rose with their net worth, in addition to providing a greater profit
margin for the company itself. While financial measures typically were the way Citibank measured
success in the past, they recognized a need to measure customer service as well and thus developed a
Performance Scorecard. The six different types of measures the Performance Scorecard evaluated
were: financial measures, strategy implementation, customer satisfaction, control, people, and
standards. By developing this Performance Scorecard, Citibank believed they could better analyze
where each branch needed specific improvements and where each branch was excelling. Citibank felt
it was necessary to update the previous evaluations to include non financial measures because they
recognized that these measures may in fact be more critical to the long term success of the franchise.
As a result, by adding the non financial measures to the current measures, Citibank was able to reflect
competitive dimensions in the bank s strategy.
Citibank Issues: After performing an evaluation using the Performance Scorecard, Seegers recognized
the need for increased customer service at their most important branch. Through their measurements

Roles Of Women In Roman Women
In my civilization of Rome, women in society have the duty of taking care of the home and family.
Love has almost nothing to do with a Roman marriage. It exists so that wives may produce children to
be heirs to their father s property. Every man wants a son to care for them in old age and eventually
take over the estate, since there are no retirement homes or pension plans. Age fourteen is an average
age for a young girl to get married. Women have weak judgment, so they are prohibited from
attending, speaking in, or voting at political assemblies. They also cannot hold any governmental
position. Egypt treats its women very differently in comparison to my civilization. Egyptians believe
that joy and happiness are legitimate goals of life and take home and family very seriously. Women of
Egypt are almost completely equal to men in regards to the law. They can own property, borrow
money, sign contracts, and initiate divorce. The men and women here love children, and do not
conceive children just to produce an heir to property. We Romans have a practical attitude towards
religion. The upper elite classes hold the priesthood positions. There is no separation of church and
state. We consider ourselves highly religious and our practices and beliefs are our own. It is a part of
our daily lives, and each home has a household shrine in which families can pray to. We credit our
religious customs to its founder Numa Pompilius, the Sabine second second king of Rome. He

Correlation Between Motivation And Achievement
Brown and Wahlberg designed a study in which they intended to demonstrate an independent causal
relationship between motivation and achievement (Brown Wahlberg, 1993). They purported to have
devised a study with a randomized assignment of students to conditions eliciting different degrees of
motivation (Brown Wahlberg, 1993, p. 134). The question for the researchers remained what is the
effect of experimentally manipulated motivational conditions on elementary math scores (Brown
Wahlberg, 1993, p. 133). The study remains a randomized quantitative mixed methods quasi
experimental study of 406 heterogeneously grouped students in third, fourth and sixth through eighth
grades in Chicago Public Schools (Brown Wahlberg, 1993). Three schools were selected to participate
in the study. The student populations in each school were described as lower middle working class and
predominantly Hispanic and African American (Brown Wahlberg, 1993). Respective of each school,
two classes were randomly selected out of each grade level and randomly assigned to experimental
groups. The participant groups were administered the Mathematics Concept subtest of the Iowa Basic
Skills (ITBS) 1978, Levels 9 14. The ITBS was selected for its high reliability rating of 0.85 and its
correlation with school curriculum (Brown Wahlberg, 1993). One group received standard testing

Papyrus Scrolls Of The Ancient World
Have you ever wanted to know more about the history of papyrus scrolls of the ancient world? Well,
you have come to the right place. This post will provide you with an overview that will leave you with
a general idea on the different aspects of the scroll from production to uses to importance.
Introduction to the Scroll
A scroll was a roll constructed of material that ranged from papyrus to parchment. However, the
material taken from a papyrus plant predominately composed the scrolls of the ancient world. Since
3000 BC, the plant was native only to Egypt and considered the major distributor to the rest of the
Mediterranean world. On the other hand, when the papyrus plant was no longer cultivated as writing
material, the act caused the extinction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The quality was measured by fineness, firmness, whiteness, smoothness, and variation in breadth. The
difference in quality of papyrus allowed the variants to be used for different things. The different
grade of papyrus stemmed from the different parts of the plant being used and where the sheets were
manufactured. For example, the heretic grade came from the center of the plant and was mostly used
for religious texts. The amphitheatric grade originated from the name of its manufacture place. The
manufacture place was in Rome ran by Fannius, who was a grammarian. He, in order to make better
quality papyrus, added a third layer, making it finer. The saitic grade of papyrus was eponymous with
the city where the papyrus was manufactured and consisted mainly of scraps, making it felt like bark.
The taenotic papyrus was made from papyrus that was near the outside skin and was not sold by its
quality, but rather by its weight. The emporitic papyrus was useless as writing material so it was used
for envelopes or merchandise wrapping paper by dealers. From antiquity, around 3000 scrolls survived
with texts ranging from treaties to medical knowledge to classical texts. The text was arranged into
columns. A vast majority of the papyri was literary in that they contained epics, dramas, prose, and
history. However, there were also commentaries, grammatical treatises, and technical knowledge. In
addition, many of surviving texts on papyrus are Greek and Latin literature. During antiquity, the rolls
were more associated with the classical elite as mass readership was uncommon and papyrus could be
very expensive, depending on its

  • 2. Joseph Stalin No Slowdown In Sopo Analysis A power struggle within the Soviet Communist Party was triggered by Vladimir Lenin s death in 1924, and shortly after, Joseph Stalin seized control of the party, quashing all potential opposition to his leadership. Thereafter, the late 1920 s and early 1930 s saw fundamental changes to the Soviet Union. It was during this period that Joseph Stalin consolidated his authority and was allowed to rule without opposition, becoming the clear vozhd and introducing his revolution from above (McKay 903) on the Soviet population. In 1931, with the first 5 year plan well underway, Stalin made a pivotal speech to the First Conference of Soviet Industrial Managers titled No Slowdown in Tempo! , speaking to them in terms of hard line Russian nationalism ... • 3. You Must Do The Thing You Cannot Do Analysis You Must Do The Thing You Think You Cannot Do. It s sad to see that people can t do what they want because they re afraid of how others might judge them. Courageous people need to be brave, be themselves, and be proud of who they are. Courage creates a more positive society. Melinda and Heather are two fictional characters that have shown courage in one form or another. On the other hand, my brother, Shpat, is a real life example of how courage can impact the society. Each act of courage, either factual or fictional has created some type of impact on society. In the story, Speak, Heather, was courageous in many ways. Her courage, in this case, had a negative impact on others. One example which shows how Heather was courageous in a negative way was when she told ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One example which shows that he was courageous was when my brother opened his own pizza place. This was a positive change because he was brave enough to take a risk in opening up a business. He has been working very hard since he was 15 years old and never gave up, even when things were hard. Now he brought a great pizzeria to the community. By displaying this courageous act, Shpat was able to have a positive impact on society. Today, others are able to look up to him because he was brave enough to do something that everyone told him not to. This newspaper publisher wrote a arctic about our pizzeria and was talking about my dad s restaurant how we haved own other pizza place in other countries and was just talking about how we opened the new pizzeria DOLCE VITA On the other hand, when Melinda would continue to get bullied at school, she kept going every day and this showed how courageous she really was. • 4. Women s Athletic Teams For Women Over 400 Division I men s athletic teams have been disbanded from existence since the inception of Title IX. Title IX, implemented in 1972, is a comprehensive federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity. (Keating) Title IX has achieved great success with women s sports since the inception and the number of females in sports is six times greater since the inception of Title IX (diversity.siu.edu). Although it has had great strides with women, it is disadvantaging men, especially in athletics. Title IX requires that colleges give the same amount of scholarships to women as they do men. On paper, this seems to be a great idea, but the consequences were never taken into consideration and caused tremendous problems. In order to give the same amount of scholarships to men and women and be compliant with Title IX, men s athletic teams have been cut in the process. Men losing the opportunity to receive scholarships for their respective sport at a college of their choice and sports teams getting cut is an issue that needs to be solved. Men s sports teams cannot keep on being cut, for there are ways in which Title IX must be enhanced to benefit everyone. The problems of men s athletic teams being cut can be solved by reducing outrageous spending, add women s programs, and give more control to colleges. Before Title IX was created, fewer than 32,000 women took part in college athletics while over 170,000 men ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Creating Space Creating Space: Resolving the Problem of National Identity in English Canadian Literary History 1867 1967 Abstract: In 1967, Canada celebrated her centennial as a country unified outwardly, but inwardly divided. Within Canadian letters both French and English Canadian literary historians had spent a hundred years unsuccessfully attempting to create a unified narrative to explain the shared story of their origins. This paper will focus primarily on English Canadian literary histories, and the part they played in resolving the problem of creating the nation of Canada. I will argue that it took a full century to solve the problem , and was achieved by Northrup Frye s when he moving English Canadian literature outside the realm of socio politics and entirely into the mythopoeic sphere. However, this conclusion , relied on a modernist understanding of the role of meta narratives in the shared story of nationhood, without which assumption, such a conclusion risks becoming little more than a rhetorical contortion. I will conclude by suggesting that it was only when Canadian letters moved beyond centralized meta narratives, and started to embrace (in Robert Kroetsch s words) Disunity in Unity that a true Canadian literature and a more balanced literary history could begin emerge. Although the cathedral was completed in the early 12th century there are signs of Gothic architecture present due to the close relation of Romanesque and Gothic styles. In Robert Scott s book The Gothic Enterprise he discusses how the early Gothic style pulled heavily from the Romanesque style of architecture and built upon it s basic themes. Durham Cathedral s extensive history shows how the church s style of architecture remains mainly Romanesque, but has impressions of other styles due to renovations in different eras. The Cloister, on the south side of the Cathedral, was begun at the same time as the Cathedral but contains much work from the 15th century or later. The College, the name given in Durham to the Cathedral Close, is a quiet area on the south side of the Cathedral. It is the home of the Cathedral clergy and others associated with its life, and of the Chorister School, a co educational school where the Cathedral choir boys are educated. Many of the buildings surrounding the Green originated in the Middle Ages, and entry is gained via the medieval gate house which is still locked every night. The Reformation was a watershed in the Cathedral s history as it brought the dissolution of the Priory and its monastic community. The monastery was surrendered to the Crown in December 1540, thus ending hundreds of years of monastic life at the Cathedral. In January 1541 the Cathedral was refounded, the last Prior became the first Dean, and twelve former monks became the first Canons. Much valuable information about life in the Cathedral in the period immediately prior to the dissolution can be found in a 1591 work, ‘The Rites of Durham which it is presumed was written by a former member of the monastic community and is available in the Cathedral. She was one of the most famous empresses in Byzantine History, there have also been scandals and rumors about her, that may detriment her legacy. • 11. An Overview Of Gestalt Psychology An Overview of Gestalt Psychology Though not practiced in contemporary psychology, the school of Gestalt meaning shape or form in Deutsch was a predominant topic among German psychologists in the nineteenth century. The term Gestalt was coined as a definition for the perception of a whole separate and different from its parts. Prior to this, psychologists had been analyzing the parts of the whole in order to explain the whole. In order to test the new theory, principles of Gestalt were established to prove that behavior is holistic rather than mere, singular sensations. These laws include: Pragnanz, Closure, Continuity, Similarity, and Proximity. Experiments on chimpanzees seemed to indicate that they use insight to solve problems. Using insight shows that they think holistically, which helps prove Gestalt. This school of thought was often seen as academically lofty and obscure, but still seems to be referenced if loosely today. At the turn of the twentieth century, Wilhelm Wundt and Edward Titchener s atomistic views were dominant in psychology (Lefrançois, 2012). Wundt s structural approach focused on reducing mental processes to the smallest individual unit in order to understand the whole. Introspection was Wundt s chosen method for discovery. In the United States and elsewhere, behaviorism and its proponents were also directing research. The behaviorists rejected introspection for stimuli and responses, focusing on observable behavior (Lefrançois, 2012). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Specifically, I will take a look at how each country values child rearing and how they raise their children during childhood. I chose this topic because when I have children, I want to personally raise my children in the best way that I can. Looking into different cultures, such as the United States and China, will show me how children are raised and also the behavior of the children as a result of how they were raised. As mentioned in an article published in Scandinavian Journal of Psychology, individualism is valued in America, so we raise our children to exercise independence hoping they will one day be independent. However, Chinese culture does not value individual independence, so they raise their children to respect authority and are more controlling. Ultimately, the goal of parenting in any culture, as stated by the same article, is raise a child who becomes a creature of his/her culture (LUI, GUO, 2010). Child rearing is important in both countries because both want their culture to continue on for centuries. After researching how Americans and Chinese parents raise their children during childhood, it is evident that both countries have very different parenting practices; however, they both want to raise children who exemplify their own culture. • 19. The Essence Of The Debate The Essence of the Debate Divine Election according to Calvin One of the most valuable key sources of information on the subject of divine election is John Calvin s Institutes of the Christian Religion. He began weaving doctrinal revelation and explanation together in 1536 and finished the text in 1559. The initial composed manuscript presented comprehensive perspectives aligning with the four points of the Apostle s creed. As time passed, Calvin decided to instruct readers in the rudiments of Christianity and offer a clear confession by which the French king could judge Reformation s supposed heresy. The twenty first chapter of the third book of this work offered his understanding on the subject of divine election. The first line of this section explains the covenant of life is not preached to all, and among those to whom it is preached, does not always meet with the same reception . God has chosen, according to his mere pleasure, to spontaneously offer salvation to some and destruction to others. Although much scriptural evidence exists supporting this understanding, this revelation remains a mystery. Paul s declaration in the Book of Romans suggests divine election cannot be known unless God, throwing works entirely out of view, elect those whom he has predestined . Hence, individuals need to remember that this subject of predestination is hidden in the recesses of divine wisdom. All are not born on the same terms; some are destined for eternal life and others ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Theme Of Love In City Lights I. The one theme that connects all the films we have watched in this class is an overall theme of love this love presents itself in many different ways. In City Lights, the love between The tramp and the blind girl, in Central Station it is the love between two strangers, Dora and Josue, The Namesake has the love in an arranged marriage, Children of Heaven, the love between a brother and sister, and The Kite Runner has love between two best friends that transcends the generations. All of these movies have very different sets of characters, plots, settings, and cultures but the one theme connecting them all is love. This love presents itself in many different ways, but the love is present all the same. City Lights by Charlie Chaplin took place right here in the United States and started off the semester with a traditional view of love as a culture we often view falling in love with someone as the ideal what everyone wants. We especially want someone to love us for who we are, not the money or things that we have. In City Lights, the Tramp inadvertently tricks the blind girl into thinking that he has a lot of money. However despite this deception, he loves her, he wants to do what is best for her, even if it gets him in trouble or sends her away from him. He tries working hard to get her what she needs a cure for her blindness. Working hard does not work out for him, and he goes to great lengths to get the money for her, including the boxing match and asking the millionaire for help. He does this because he loves her deeply and he wants what is best for her. The movie ends with her being able to see and still accepting him despite the fact that he is not a millionaire. This film portrays the great American love story putting the other person first, and loving them despite their circumstances. Central Station from Brazil by Walter Salles depicts a different kind of love. This movie could have been about Josue, and the love with his mother or his brothers at the end when he finds them instead it is about the love between him and Dora, an old, sad woman with no relation to him. Throughout the film, Dora always tries to do what she thinks is best for Josue. It is misguided at first, when she sells him to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Comparative proteomics profiling of urine from patients with PCa, benign prostate hyperplasia, bladder cancer and renal cancer, coupled with bioinformatics analysis were performed. The most prevalent of all the fissures is the longitudinal fissure, which separates the two hemispheres. The hemispheres further divides into the central fissure and lateral fissure, which create the landmarks known as the four lobes and include the frontal lobe, parietal lobe, temporal lobe and the occipital lobe. The prefrontal cortex or PFC is located in the frontal lobe, which is located at the foremost anterior region of the cerebral hemisphere. Goldberg (2009) describes how the PFC contains interconnections throughout the brain. He mentions how the PFC connects to the posterior association cortex, which is associated with perceptual integration, and associates with the premotor cortex, the cerebellum, and basal ganglia, all which help, regulate movement and motor control. The PFC additionally connects to those structures, which are critical for memory and include the thalamus, and hippocampus. Furthermore, the PFC connects to the hypothalamus, which regulates homeostasis, with the amygdala, which regulates human relations. Finally, the PFC is reciprocates with brain stem nuclei responsible for arousal and activation. The interconnections of the PFC uniquely positioned for directing and assimilating the work of all the brain structures but are fragile and leave the PFC susceptible to injury and disease. • 27. Jonah Is Like Jesus Analysis Jonah is Like Jesus The Book of Jonah tells the story of a prophet who did not want to carry out God s will. The Lord had instructed Jonah to warn the town of Nineveh that their wickedness had enraged Him. Instead of responding obediently, Jonah ran away from his responsibilities and got on a ship headed to Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the LORD. The struggle Jonah went through when completing his task prefigures the apprehensions Jesus had concerning his sacrificial death. When Jesus was to be crucified, he went to the Garden of Gethsemane admitting his worries about his future. Abba, Father, he said, Everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will. This event in Jesus s life shows he has uncertainties when carrying out God s requests. These doubts are like those of the earlier prophet. In both cases, the two men put their trust in God and were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Jonah was aboard the ship headed for Tarshish, the Lord provided a great storm to prevent the boat from reaching Tarshish. Instantly Jonah knew the outburst of this storm was his fault. So he said Pick me up and throw me into the sea, he replied, and it will become calm. I know that it is my fault that this great storm has come upon you. This act of selflessness is similar to the event in Jesus s life when he sacrifices himself on the cross. When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals one on his right, the other on his left. Jesus s sacrifice ensured that humanity would be saved and enter into a new everlasting relationship with God. Similarly, Jonah saved his shipmates from a potential shipwreck by casting himself into the sea. This shows that Jonah is like Jesus because he sacrifices himself to save ... It is a 115 question multiple choice test with a four hour time frame. 5 of the questions are dummies and will not be scored. You must answer correctly 82 of the 110 questions or score at least 75%. The instructor stressed to all of us in the class to apply immediately to The North Carolina Real Estate Commission to take the state real estate exam after we finished the pre licensing course. I forgot the exact statistics. But, I recall that you stand an excellent chance of passing the exam on the first try within 2 weeks after taking the pre licensing exam because the material you learned and was tested on is fresh in your mind. For each day that passes after the two week period, your chances of passing goes down considerably. You are allowed to take the exam a second time if you fail on the first attempt. If you fail on the second try, you have to start from square one with the pre licensing course. I had filled out The North Carolina Real Estate Commission exam application weeks before the end of the pre licensing course ended which our instructor encouraged us to do. It is extremely important to fill out the application entirely, accurately and to furnish all the identification documents requested by the Commission. Most important is to assure that your legal name on the application matches exactly, letter by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bisto Gravy Spring Chair Sunday Analysis unday chair was inspired from a friend of mine volunteering to feed an elderly person at her house, from the organization sponsored by Bisto Gravy called, Spare Chair Sunday. Volunteers are sought after to offer this interaction with an elderly person who has no family. I felt there is a lot of ignorance surrounding this topic and I wanted to bring light to this situation in a humorous way. Showing what a difference can be made to that one person who is lonely, with no family. This charity struggles with volunteers because the elderly are stereotyped. Although this may be the case, I wanted to bring humor to this, which I d hope would inspire the younger generation to do their bit, as they too, will become old one day. I decided to begin ... The third act is initiated with a flash back. This is so their back story is shown, bringing dimension to the stage 2 young girls, euphorically happy dressed in 1950 s dresses as they re off to a disco. The next flash back is of the two women saying goodbye as they move, unwillingly on with their lives. It shows the closeness between Grace and Bertie, yet due to life, men and time, they become separated, yet throughout their lives, having never forgot one another and their memories having always remained close within their hearts. This again relates to todays society. I lost my best friend at the age of 18, and this was the final inspiration to this story. I was lucky to have made our friendship up a week before she died. • 30. Identifying Strategies to Improve African American College... Minorities are a growing segment of the population. However, this group continues to be underrepresented in the area of post secondary education. Obtaining an advanced degree remains a likely predictor of future career success. The problem facing the minority student is that barriers persist which continue to hinder enrollment, retention, and graduation rates in institutions of higher education. These barriers must be identified and examined and solutions offered if college completion rates are to be increased for this population. While overall college enrollment and graduation rates have risen for all minority groups, there continues to be concerns for this segment of the population, particularly for African American students. Even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The U.S. Department of Education s Digest of Education Statistics (2010) compiles data on educational trends and statistics in the United States. According to the digest, in 2009 African Americans earned about 10 percent of all bachelor degrees awarded. Furthermore, about 20 percent of African Americans currently hold a college degree. When compared to the same rates for the white non hispanic population, African Americans are largely lagging behind. The challenges that African Americans are facing must be met by post secondary institutions if this group is going to continue on the path of economic and career prosperity. This need is discussed in the report Minorities in Higher Education: Although greater access to higher education for students of color is an absolute imperative, it is only part of the equation. Ensuring their academic success and readiness to thrive in an interconnected world remains the ultimate goal. In a global economy, providing greater access to post secondary education to individuals from all racial and ethnic backgrounds remains one of the most important challenges facing our nation. Demographic changes have increased the proportions of people of color in the United States, and our academic population (Ryu, 2009, p. i). • 31. The Great Ideas Of Thomas Hobbes Leviathan, And Adam... hile there are many big ideas in Thomas Hobbes Leviathan, and Adam Smith s The Wealth of Nations, the most important ideas deal with human nature and social order. In this paper, I will argue Hobbes lack of optimism, and Smith s lack of pessimism in their theories of human nature, and will also discuss how our idea of social order changes once these aspects are taken into consideration. Hobbes theory of human nature begins with him stating that all men are created equal. With all men being created equal, this means that everyone is equally capable of killing each other, because while, there may be found one man sometimes manifestly stronger in body, the weaker may be compensated for by his quicker mind. This equality of ability produces equality of hope for the attaining of our goals, and that when two or more men desire the same thing which they cannot both enjoy, they become enemies and attempt to destroy each other. Hobbes called this time when men oppose each other war, and said that there were three basic causes for war: competition, distrust, and glory. Hobbes also maintains the belief that in this state of nature, humans have a natural tendency to obtain as much power as they can, and that the only way they will ever be satisfied with their power is by acquiring more power, going so far as to harm or kill others in order attain what they desire. Thus, the state of nature is a war of every man against every man, where humans live in perpetual fear ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An orphan and a hardened veteran at the age of fifteen, Jackson drifted, taught school a little, and then read law in North Carolina. After admission to the bar in 1787, he accepted an offer to serve as public prosecutor in the new Meroe District of North Carolina, west of the mountains, with its seat at Nashville on the Cumberland River. Arriving in 1788, Jackson thrived in the new frontier town. He built a legal practice, entered into trading ventures, and began to acquire land and slaves. Jackson s rise in Tennessee politics was meteoric, attesting to his strength of character. In quick succession, he was a delegate to the state constitutional convention in 1795, then Tennessee s first congressman, then a senator. He resigned his Senate post after one year to take a job closer to home, as judge of Tennessee s superior court. In 1802 he challenged Governor John Sevier for election as major general in command of the state militia. Jackson s senior by more than twenty years, Sevier was a veteran of the Revolution and of many Indian campaigns, and the state s leading politician. Jackson beat him for the generalship, but the aftermath brought the two men to a showdown in the streets of Knoxville, followed by preparations for a duel. In other words, Citibank s strategy in California was to build a profitable franchise by providing relationship banking combined with a high level of service to its customers (p. 76). Like most businesses, customers expectations rose with their net worth, in addition to providing a greater profit margin for the company itself. While financial measures typically were the way Citibank measured success in the past, they recognized a need to measure customer service as well and thus developed a Performance Scorecard. The six different types of measures the Performance Scorecard evaluated were: financial measures, strategy implementation, customer satisfaction, control, people, and standards. By developing this Performance Scorecard, Citibank believed they could better analyze where each branch needed specific improvements and where each branch was excelling. Citibank felt it was necessary to update the previous evaluations to include non financial measures because they recognized that these measures may in fact be more critical to the long term success of the franchise. As a result, by adding the non financial measures to the current measures, Citibank was able to reflect competitive dimensions in the bank s strategy. • 34. Roles Of Women In Roman Women In my civilization of Rome, women in society have the duty of taking care of the home and family. Love has almost nothing to do with a Roman marriage. It exists so that wives may produce children to be heirs to their father s property. Every man wants a son to care for them in old age and eventually take over the estate, since there are no retirement homes or pension plans. Age fourteen is an average age for a young girl to get married. Women have weak judgment, so they are prohibited from attending, speaking in, or voting at political assemblies. They also cannot hold any governmental position. Egypt treats its women very differently in comparison to my civilization. Egyptians believe that joy and happiness are legitimate goals of life and take home and family very seriously. Women of Egypt are almost completely equal to men in regards to the law. They can own property, borrow money, sign contracts, and initiate divorce. The men and women here love children, and do not conceive children just to produce an heir to property. We Romans have a practical attitude towards religion. The upper elite classes hold the priesthood positions. There is no separation of church and state. We consider ourselves highly religious and our practices and beliefs are our own. It is a part of our daily lives, and each home has a household shrine in which families can pray to. • 35. Correlation Between Motivation And Achievement Brown and Wahlberg designed a study in which they intended to demonstrate an independent causal relationship between motivation and achievement (Brown Wahlberg, 1993). They purported to have devised a study with a randomized assignment of students to conditions eliciting different degrees of motivation (Brown Wahlberg, 1993, p. 134). The question for the researchers remained what is the effect of experimentally manipulated motivational conditions on elementary math scores (Brown Wahlberg, 1993, p. 133). The study remains a randomized quantitative mixed methods quasi experimental study of 406 heterogeneously grouped students in third, fourth and sixth through eighth grades in Chicago Public Schools (Brown Wahlberg, 1993). Three schools were selected to participate in the study. The student populations in each school were described as lower middle working class and predominantly Hispanic and African American (Brown Wahlberg, 1993). Respective of each school, two classes were randomly selected out of each grade level and randomly assigned to experimental groups. The participant groups were administered the Mathematics Concept subtest of the Iowa Basic Skills (ITBS) 1978, Levels 9 14. The ITBS was selected for its high reliability rating of 0.85 and its correlation with school curriculum (Brown Wahlberg, 1993). The quality was measured by fineness, firmness, whiteness, smoothness, and variation in breadth. The difference in quality of papyrus allowed the variants to be used for different things. The different grade of papyrus stemmed from the different parts of the plant being used and where the sheets were manufactured. For example, the heretic grade came from the center of the plant and was mostly used for religious texts. The amphitheatric grade originated from the name of its manufacture place. The manufacture place was in Rome ran by Fannius, who was a grammarian. He, in order to make better quality papyrus, added a third layer, making it finer. The saitic grade of papyrus was eponymous with the city where the papyrus was manufactured and consisted mainly of scraps, making it felt like bark. The taenotic papyrus was made from papyrus that was near the outside skin and was not sold by its quality, but rather by its weight. The emporitic papyrus was useless as writing material so it was used for envelopes or merchandise wrapping paper by dealers. From antiquity, around 3000 scrolls survived with texts ranging from treaties to medical knowledge to classical texts. The text was arranged into columns. A vast majority of the papyri was literary in that they contained epics, dramas, prose, and history. However, there were also commentaries, grammatical treatises, and technical knowledge.
