Read Wordsworth s and Shelley s poems To a Skylark and Hughes poem
Skylarks. Discuss the similarities and differences in the poets presentation of, and attitude to, the
birds.
There are a number of similarities and differences in Wordsworth s,
Shelley s and Hughes presentation of, and attitude to the birds through form, diction and imagery.
The first line in Wordsworth s poem is about an Ethereal minstrel! and a pilgrim of the sky! . This tells
of a medieval singer who roams with a purpose. Wordsworth uses these to apostrophise the lark. When
these lines are combined with others throughout the poem it becomes apparent that the lark is used as
a metaphoric visual aid. This is shown with the apparent dichotomy between ... Show more content on

The words flood and
pour in the poem normally are associated with water, thus showing how the lark s music flows and
how much of it there is.
Wordsworth s poem is therefore presented as an apostrophe to a skylark that is quite rhythmic due to it
being largely iambic pentameter. It is also written in a very traditional form with a strict rhythm and
rhyme structure that suggests that it is pre 20th century. This is confirmed by the moral, philosophical
view of lark, as it is shown to be a metaphor and moral for human life.
As well as sharing the same title ( To a Skylark ), Percy Bysshe
Shelley s poem also shares a similar way of presenting the lark.
Composed five years before Wordsworth s poem, this poem is also written in a very traditional form
with much archaic diction. It has a maintained stanza form throughout and is as, if not more, archaic
shown by quotations such as, hail to thee and thou . In the second stanza, although there is no
reference to a bird, the language used suggests an immense scale similar to that used in Wordsworth s
presentation of the lark s flood of harmony or song. Quotations such as, Higher still and higher and
springest , show this similarity.
Similar to Wordsworth s poem, Shelley begins with exclamation with,
Hail to thee, blithe spirit! . Again although much more subtle and

Russian Economic Overview
Economic Overview: Although Russia is one of the BRICs countries; it is showing some weakness
over the last years with the Euro crisis. The country suffered with economic problems that made its
economy to slow the foreign demand. With the weaker foreign demand and the domestic fiscal
consolidation made the output growth reduced to 3.4% in 2012. The weakness extended to 2013, with
first quarter real GDP falling 1.1% from the previous period, reducing 12 month growth to 1.1%, the
lowest rate since 2009. In this scenario, the investment in opening a BFSI in Russia would bring really
bad results in terms of profits. In addition, the inflation in Russia rose up to 7.2% in April 2013. The
final reason why Russia is going to provide a bad economic perspective to our company is direct
related with the crisis in Ukraine. With this crisis, Russia would suffer a major recession and is being
strongly affected due to its high dependence on energy supplies via Ukraine .
Conclusion: Due to the political uncertainty combined with the weak economy that Russia is
presenting for a forging investors, we conclude that better options of the BRIC s countries would be
suggested to BFSI invest its money instead investing in the Russia market.

Identity And Individualism In Bret Ellis
Identity and individualism is a key theme in Bret Ellis s novel, American Psycho. Ellis depicts a
society where these concepts have wholly dissipated and have been replaced by materialism, and
studies the impossible effects it has on a person.
The society that Bateman and his acquaintances live in are centered on materialism, money, and
reputation. Success in this world is measured by the number of brands and products you own instead
of an individual s happiness and fulfillment in life. Names of people neither hold a meaning nor show
representation, while brand names and objects hold enough significance, in society, to represent a
person s value and identity. Knowledge is a mere façade used to show that you are up to date with the
trending times and intelligent. However, as we see from Bateman s constant rambling of music, art,
and politics, knowledge itself is meaningless without the understanding and opinions behind it. With
every character saying the same words, thinking the same thoughts, wearing the same suits, and
having the same jobs individualism is completely diminished.
Lack of individualism leads to lack of differentiation, and without opinions, emotions and connections
to people characters in the novel not only lose their identity, but are almost unable to confirm their
existence. In the novel, Patrick Bateman says, There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman, some kind of
abstraction, but there is no real me, only an entity, something illusory, and though I can

Emily Dickson
Almost unknown as a poet in her lifetime, Emily Dickinson is now considered as one of the most
mysterious and original American poet of 19th century for her innovation in rhythmic meters and
creative use of metaphors. Her poems were rarely published in Russia because most of them had
religious content (to express religious feelings was restricted in Russia for almost a century).
However, some poems that I read impressed me at the first glance. Dickinson s poems spoke
powerfully to me about meaningful events in living. Many impressions that she compressed into only
few words helped me to understand my own experience through her emotional clarity. It was not easy
to understand Dickinson s poems. I had to read between lines to get what she ... Show more content on

She was less interested in answering questions about social events than she was in exploring how she
felt at a giving moment.
Emily Dickinson was almost unknown during her lifetime because she refused publish her poems and
only seven of them were published anonymously during her lifetime. After Dickinson s death her
sister Livinia found nearly two thousand of drafts wrote in pencil on scraps of paper, grocery lists, and
the backs of recipes and used envelopes (Melani). Only few of them were titled and many were
unfinished. Emily did not prepare her poems for publishing, but wrote for her own purposes. She was
sensitive for any kind of attention and by copying poems into personal correspondence she controlled
who would read her poems.
Emily Dickinson died on 15 May 1886, at the age of fifty six. She was buried in one of the white
dresses she wore in her later years and now rests in the West Cemetery of Amherst, Hampshire
County, Massachusetts (Donoghue 38). The Homestead at Amherst, the place where Emily was born
and spent much of her childhood and almost all her adult life, became Emily Dickinson s Museum and
now open for the general public.

The Disappearance Analysis
The short story The Disappearance by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni basically is about an Indian man
who lived in America. At first, he married an educated Indian girl. However, she, unlike her husband,
did not have a traditional mindset. She eventually left him, and this was something which he could not
accept. He started to recall the times when she was with him. He was in a state of denial that his wife
could possibly leave him when he thought he had been good to him, and that he had done enough to
satisfy her. However, this was not the case. His wife wanted a modern husband one who would let her
have her say, and not only bringing her to Yosemite Park. He tried to forget about her, but he could not
do so. He then came across a light ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She was also oppressed psychologically because she was restricted and could not live the life she
wanted even though they were living in a free country. She eventually escaped and left behind the
only product of their marriage which she really loved her son. This must be a hard decision for a
mother to leave her child behind, but we can say that she is not entirely irresponsible. This is because
chances of her child growing up normally like his peers would be unlikely if they were to be in hiding
everyday. By leaving her son behind, the wife could ensure that he would be taken care of, at least
financially, by her husband. She could not guarantee that for her child given the circumstances she
would be facing by escaping from her husband. So, this point here reinforces Feminist criticism.
However, there is also a quote in the story which undermines Feminist criticism. She d been out for
her evening walk, she took one every day after he got back from the office. Yes, yes, always alone, she
said that was her time for herself . Here, we can see that the wife was allowed to go for a walk every
evening. She was not really restricted to be at home 24/7. This point here then undermines Feminist
criticism.
Besides that, the characters can also show us whether the short story reinforces or undermines
Feminist criticism. There are two main characters in The Disappearance , which are the husband

Cotton Textile Industries in India
INTRODUCTION
The Textile Industry occupies a vital place in the Indian economy and contributes substantially to its
exports earnings. Textiles exports represent nearly 30 per cent of the country s total exports. It has a

Iran Between Iran And The United States
The middle east, or more specifically Iran, has long been known for being ill at rest with the rest of the
world and is also known for it s sometimes violent means of negotiation in order to get what it wants.
In November 1979 at the end of President Jimmy Carter s term as President of the United States a
group of 300 500 Islamic students known as Imam s Disciples took over the United States embassy in
Tehran, Iran. These students took over sixty American citizens hostage and held them for a total of
444 days. This event harbored more press coverage than any other event since World War II. In order
to understand the reasoning behind this mass kidnapping and hostage taking, one must first look into

The Shah ended the uprising by exiling the leader, Ruhollah Khomeini, to Iraq. This was the
beginning of Iran s Islamic revolution. After the run in with the Islamic clergy, the Shah remained
friendly with the United States even though there was a growing movement to remove him as the head
of Iran. In 1979 the Shah, facing growing dissent and being labeled as anti Islamic, fled to Egypt to
get away from the uprising. It was then, after fourteen years, that Ruhollah Khomeini returned to Iran.
Little did anyone know, the Shah had been suffering from cancer and needed medical assistance to
treat it. After much resistance and fearing the backlash from Iran, President Carter allowed the Shah to
come to the United States for treatment. It was then that the United States embassy was attacked and
the hostages taken. The incident began with the several hundred Iranian students posted outside of the
embassy in protest of the United States taking in the Shah, their enemy. These students eventually
breached the gates of the embassy, finding a weak point in one of the windows and pulling down a
few bars in order to get in. In the mean time, those within the embassy were making phone calls and
attempting to get immediate assistance. The calls were all in vain, as no one was prepared with

Sir Bedivere s Role In Arthurian Legends
Sir Bedivere, a knight with a courageous amount of love for his king, the great Arthur, is a critical
piece of the puzzle in understanding a knight s devotion to his master. His presence in Morte Darthur
by Sir Thomas Malory proves the love a man has for his lord. Bedivere is the last man standing, aside
from Arthur, after the battle with Sir Mordred and his company. Sir Bedivere assists Arthur by
completing his dying wish and comforting him prior death. The website, Arthurian Adventure, creates
a deeper comprehension of Sir Bedivere and his role in Arthurian legends. Sir Bedivere is a perfect

Hyperlinks and tabs are randomly colored and either in mismatched font or letter size compared to the

locations as well as art from the time period. These illustrations could have created a uniformity for
the knight s individual page, instead the pictures are placed randomly in the text area, causing the
information, aligned justified, to become unbalanced and unattractive. This internet source is poorly
designed as it only utilized half of the monitor. The frenzy of information is cut off so that the entire
right half of the screen is a blank design with no words or advertisements. While the aesthetics are a
repellent, the material is worth the overwhelming mess of colors and fonts. Arthurian Adventure is a
site dedicated to the information, not the optical taste. Sir Bedivere s actions are a stellar example of
the unselfish life a knight should lead. With deep devotion to his brothers and his king, he deserves
respect from all Arthurian fans. The last moments of Arthur s body and sword, Excalibur, are spent
with this great man. The website Arthurian Adventure gives viewers a visually weak but educational

Taking a Look at Abdominal Pains
Abdominal pains may be caused by a number of serious underlying illnesses that can be diagnosed
and treated. The occurrence of abdominal pains may also be caused by common illnesses such as
indigestion, food allergies or even appendicitis (Golan Tashjian, 2012) . Test done for the 13 year old
female patient may be expected to reflect suspected illness. It would be important to first test for
presence of any infectious agents that may have caused the abdominal pains. The infectious agents
may be the rotavirus which is a common virus that affects children to cause symptoms that include
abdominal pains (Golan Tashjian, 2012). Therefore, it would be important not to overlook the
possibilities of a microbial infection. The suggested treatment for this condition would be use
antibiotics and dietary change(Golan Tashjian, 2012). Another reason that may cause the abdominal
pains may be chronic functional abdominal pain (CFAP). This condition may be present when tests do
not show the occurrence of any infection. Functional abdominal pain is caused by a disorder in the
transmission of pain impulses. This occurs by action of magnification of the stimulation of the
nociceptive impulses from the gastrointestinal tract (Golan Tashjian, 2012). The cause of this
condition may be due to various reasons. Since this condition is not entirely associated with
gastrointestinal tract, it would occur due to a biopsychological disorder (Golan Tashjian, 2012) . The

In 1899 Thorstein Veblen wrote The Theory of the Leisure Class: An Economic Study of Institutions.
In this work, Veblen presented critical thinking that pertains to people s habits and their related social
norms. He explores the way certain people disregard the divisions that exist within the social system,
while subsequently emulating certain aspects of the leisure class in an effort to present an image of
higher social status. He also presented the theory of conspicuous consumption, which refers to an
instance when a person can fulfill their needs by purchasing a product at a lower cost that is equal in
quality and function to its more expensive counterpart; however, said person chooses to buy the more

Luxury fashion items can be acquired via several different avenues, as well as at several different
price points in today s market. Previously, the only options consumers had for the acquisition of
luxury fashion goods was to purchase directly from the retail store; however, now there are an
enormous amount of resources for consumers to opt for a used product at a much lower price by
shopping on websites like eBay, or by purchasing from the growing amount of high end consignment
stores. Another option that luxury fashion consumers can easily utilize is to buy the item new and at a
cheaper price by shopping at outlet stores or discount department stores like Nordstrom Rack and T.J.

created hugely profitable businesses by making the latest luxury accessory available to be rented at a

have granted a much larger array of people the opportunity to experience aspects of the luxury

British Asylums
Overall, the British conquest of India in the late 1800s to early 1900s brought about positive and
negative changes to the country. Colonization of the land defined and segregated certain traits from
others. Those who were defined as incapable or different were sent to lunatic asylums to protect the
rest of society. They were scrutinized by their peers and stigmatized as a lunatic . The fact they were
separated and incarcerated from the public established a negative outlook on mental illness. However,
within the asylums, these individuals were the subjects of new health reforms and public health
policies towards mental health. As the British started to invest in the development of mental asylums,
they made renovations to the sanitation, health, and state of these facilities. They also modeled the
mental asylums after their own, and they introduced the basics of modern psychiatry. These
foundations consist of subjects such as research, drug therapy, patient care, preventative care, and vital
statistics. It introduced Indians to the way in which medicine can be practiced as well as how certain

Like the words in brackets suggest, Boesman in this monologue is angry and has an element of

Explain How The Romans And Made Up Their Value System
There are three qualities that shaped the world view of the Romans and made up their value system.
These beliefs included: Imperialism, Eclecticism, Practicality. These ideals help in explaining how the
Romans were viewed by the world. Imperialism is the belief that it is acceptable for someone or a
group of someones to enforce their culture and its values on other people, even it if means to do so by
force. This particular belief became the significant value of the Romans, who believed that they were

Hardin Lifeboat Ethics Essay
Although Hardin states reasonable facts against helping the poor in his essay, Lifeboat Ethics , he
overlooks key factors which would contradict with his point of view. Hardin is against the sharing of
resources because in his opinion the population growth rates of the poorer countries are much higher
as opposed to the wealthier. He claims that if resources are shared equally amongst refugees in
LEDCs, in 21 years, each American would have to share the available resources with more than eight
people. What Hardin overlooks when making this statement is that the mean wealth is tied in with the
mean birthrate. Reports today show that as the wealth of one rises, they have less children. This is
proof that as the wealth of a country rises, the birthrate would then decrease. If this not be the case, for
which there is a slight possibility, Hardin s argument may be valid.
Hardin s observation of the comparatively higher birthrate of the poor compared to the lower birthrate
of the rich is in fact correct but only to some extent. Pre industrialization in the so called, first world
countries, there were values of high birthrates. The industrialization in these MEDCs cause a drastic
decrease in fertility in the countries affected. This started in Europe, ... Show more content on

What Hardin oversees is that an international depository of food reserves would give the poor a
chance to develop, which would in turn spark an increase in wealth, hence, there would be a decrease
in birthrate. He also overlooks that practitioners may have ideas of using technology to solve some of
these problems. Hardin claims that farming crops for the poor would occupy America s land, which
turns to be an insignificant claim as due to the advancement in technology, we could easily use
vertical and rooftop gardening as a more compact and reasonable

Three Answered Questions About War, State and Humanitarian...
Question 1: War is already a relatively rare phenomenon, although some forms are more common than
others, but imagine a world where war is almost unheard of. This scenario is a highly probable
outcome of a world populated solely by mature, liberal democracies. There are many benefits of
having a democracy as a countries form of government, and less violence is one of them. Whether the
violence be interstate wars, civil wars or terrorism, all instances would decrease in the case of a
democratic regime. Democracy is defined as a political system in which candidates compete for
political office through frequent, fair elections in which a sizeable portion of the adult population can

We believes it is imperative that all As stay together. To add to the argument that ethnic lines should
be drawn, it is well known that As and Bs have a long history of not getting along, this brings fear to
State A that ethnic cleansing might occur if the lines are not drawn around them. State B refuses to
budge on this topic, they have threatened that if they do not get all the land they want, then they will
wage war against State A. In recent history, State B has never gone through on a war threat, but this
time may be different. Through intelligence gathering, we have discovered B s large growth in
military and arms. We believe that they have been developing their army and building up weapons
supplies for the past few years. According to Daryl Press in Calculating Credibility , there is two ways
to measure credibility, past action theory and current calculus theory. If I follow the current calculus
theory, which Mr. Press believes to be correct, State B s threat is credible based on military growth
and high interest in this new territory. As a result, a bargain through coordination will have to be
reached. Both States A and B will have to give a little in our territory dispute to stay inside the
bargaining range.

Discussing Theories And Types Of Systems
Discussing theories and types of systems was a process of looking at situation from a distanced and
unrelated point of view. Some concepts were easier to understand because I had previously
experienced them or realized my part in a specific system. The first part of the course brought up a lot
of questions about the application and ways in which these processes occurred. This approach led to
many discussions and ideas about why specific situations were classified as they were within the
dynamic systems.
Throughout these last sessions, it was evident that many of these theories and concepts could be
applied, and visually placed on maps. However, it was represent our ideas visually through mapping
that was a hard process in these experiential sessions. This became our complicated system through
the project. As we looked retrospectively through our progress in each session, we changed words and
arranged ideas as we felt would make sense, and would help us represent our intentions more
thoroughly. This was also a moving system that led us to different ways of thinking and understanding
others worldview thus increasing our complexity.
My group chose an idea fairly fast. Our self organization was very goal directed, as we understood the
task and objective of our project. We divided our ideas into two groups, a local issue and an
international issue. This was our way to simplify our task. Our local suggestions were between Uber
and AirBnB, and our international suggestion was

Why Is Disney World A Dream Come True
Disney World is known as the place Where Dreams Come True because of the princesses and fantasy
characters created by Walt Disney. Disney World is really a fun, amazing place to visit and is truly a
magical place. Disney World Resort was first envisioned by Walt Disney in the early 1960 s. Walt
wanted to make a place that would give people a chance to experience unique entertainment. This
place was called Disneyland and was located in California. Almost three years later, the Disney
planning team decided to make Disney World in Orlando,Florida because of the year round summers
and it was ranked first in tourist attraction. Construction started in April 1969 and planned to finish on
October 1, 1971. Nine thousand workers worked on Disney World for the two years it was in
construction. Finally on the special day Disney World was opened with around 10,000 people there to
celebrate. Today Disney World consists of four different kingdoms and lives up to its expectations of
making dreams come true. Transportation between kingdoms and to Disney World is very efficient.
Buses, trams, ferries, and a monorail are provided for people. You also don t have to wait very long for
transportation at the stations. A downside to transportation is, since Disney World has people from all
over the world, it can be very crowded in the stations. For example, in the monorail there are limited
seats and you are most likely going to have to stand. One drawback of this magical adventure is

Playing music has always been a passion of mine. Growing up in the Bellevue School District I was
fortunate enough to have exposure to excellent music programs. I began playing clarinet in fifth grade,
and in middle school I transitioned to saxophone. Having that hour every day to decompress and focus
on music in school was something I always valued. Later, in high school, I took basic and advanced
guitar classes. It was about that time that I truly became a passionate musician. Although I do not play
saxophone very much these days, I play more than enough guitar to make up for it. Guitar has been a

Per the Harvard Medical School Family Health Guide, Music s power lies in the emotional dance
between the cerebral cortex and the limbic system, the seat of human feeling. This interplay is
orchestrated by the hypothalamus, from which arise feelings of pleasure, relaxation, fear, aggression,

the mental health of students. It is shocking how many health problems stem from stress; health

Varsity Lake Benefits
One of the greatest benefits of attending University of Colorado is the beautiful scenery, which
surrounds the campus. The campus offers students variety of different spots where students may enjoy
doing their daily activities. Particularly for me, I specifically enjoy going to the Varsity Lake. The
scenery during the change of the seasons is absolutely beautiful. During fall, I would enjoy reading a
book or having my own quiet time. The small lake is open for all to enjoy whether it s reading on the
benches, or even taking a stroll. The lake is located in a small secluded area of the campus where there
aren t many disturbances. On a daily base, people take granted of their surrounding either they re too

Essay about Women in the Work Force- 1960s
Women in the Work Force 1960s
The 1960s were a time of social and political identification for American women. Despite the victory
of voting rights, women still experienced discrimination in daily life. With the current millenium
drawing to a close, women today still express concern of unequal treatment. It is important to glance
backwards in history and remember the struggles that our mothers and grandmothers experienced.
Thanks to the women of the past, women of the present are able to participate in politics and receive
equal pay for equal jobs. The struggle continues, but we conquer more discrimination every year.
It has always been a popular misconception that women are the weaker sex.1 This idea leads to the
opinion that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Still despite the number of women taking a stand in civil rights fights, very few of these women
became famous for their efforts: When thinking about the most famous civil rights activists of the
1960s the number of famous male participants outnumbers the comparatively minute number of
famous female participants .4 Once again women s efforts were forgotten since they were always seen
as less effective and authoritative than the men involved in the movements.
In the 1960s women were being recruited into the labor force in large numbers making education a
necessity. As economic growth continued to rise, there were not enough men to fill all the job
positions. Women were expected to stay in the kitchen but needed in the work force. The 1960s saw
an increase of 19.5% in the labor force.5 The greatest increase in employment was seen in service jobs
such as clerical.6 Women already dominated such jobs, but the increase in the number of these
positions allowed more women to work outside the home: ...the old female dominated occupations
provided the principal vehicle for expanding women s roles in the labor force .7

Tone, Motif and Theme in Night Essay
When people lose their dignity, they also lose a part of the very thing that makes them human.
Despair, hopelessness, fear and apathy are all ways a human can lose their humanity. The eyes provide
a window onto the soul, and thus a view on the person s mental state. The eyes also function in
reverse, as a symbolic gesture of control over someone. All of this is present in Night, by Elie Wiesel,
an account of human tragedy, human cruelty, human dignity, and the loss thereof.
At the start of the book, the residents of Sighet live relatively happily, oblivious to the approaching
storm. Moché the Beadle practices the cabbala, with, dreaming eyes (13), living his life by his own
terms. His eyes are his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Elie s father loses his strength quickly, his eyes [grew] dim (46) almost immediately after arriving.
The horrors which he had seen were easily enough to crush the spirit of a former community leader.
His disbelief of the horrors he saw questioned the very basis of his soul, and he began to despair. His
father s eyes soon become, veiled with despair (81), as he loses hope for survival. The despair of camp
life shrouds the human within, showing only another cowed prisoner. Elie s father no longer can see
hope, having his vision clouded by cruelty and hate. Elie s father is eventually overwhelmed by
despair; he, would not get up. He knew that it was useless (113). The Nazis crushed his soul, killed his
family, stole his home, and eventually took his life; this treatment destroyed the person inside the
body. He could no longer summon the strength to stay alive, so he gave up, and collapsed.
By the end, the only emotion left among the prisoners is fear. The prisoners desire food more than
anything, two cauldrons of soup are there for the taking, but who would dare? (66). The prisoners are
crushed by the fear of death or pain, and drop their hope and desire, having lost the last vestiges of
humanity. Without their humanity, the only thing that matters to them is satisfaction of bodily
requirements, and the prevention of

There are many sports out in the world. There are also two in particular whose name is the same
internationally as one of our own sports here in America. Can you guess it? That s right football. The
sport we call soccer was originally called association football but started recently in the 20th century.
The new term was not popular at first it was doubted because it was spelled Socker In support of this
theory, Szymanski cites a 1905 letter to the editor of The New York Times from Francis Tabor of New
York, who warned of the spreading heresy of the word socker so he suggested soccer a little fad that
the Oxford and Cambridge students starting putting er at the end of many words, such as foot er, sport
er, and as Association did not take an er easily, it was, and is, sometimes spoken of as Soccer.America
chose to change and the world did not. The American game football was called football because
simply because the players have to use their feet. Even though these sports have the same name and
originated from the same sport, Rugby, They have many differences as well such as the ball,
gameplay, and their means of protection. The game ball for these sports very in ways more than one. A
soccer ball is round for instance, better aerodynamics for cutting through the air. Also the round
complexity lets the ball bounce, roll, and spin off of players. They also have six sided pads that are the

new routes and opening new bases. Ryanair was the first company in reducing ticket costs and keep

airlines. Another strength of the company has a strong brand which means it s widely recognised.

according to London Stock Exchange. (Appendix 1) The last strength of Ryanair listed is the ability of
landing in over 200 destinations on 33 countries. Weakness Internally, there has been serious strategic
issues with current employment model applied by Ryanair. Statistics shown that the average length of
service for pilots is about 4.6 years and average of 386 pilots leave Ryanair each year since 2012. This
is caused by precarious nature of their employment relationship including disrespect towards pilots
and cabin crew, failure of giving scheduled time off and working over contracted hours. In this case
precarious work condition means that many Ryanair pilots don t have fixed permanent contract. Pilots
are grouped into Irish agency companies which have between 5 and 8 pilot directors, those agency
companies then subcontract into a UK labour provider of pilots and then that UK provider provides
the pilot labour into Ryanair. This causing a big distance between Ryanair and the

Communism And Anti-Semitism
From time to time, anyone who works in the field of Polish studies is bound to be asked, Why do
Polish Catholics hate the Jews so much? In light of the quotations offered above, how should we
respond? As scholars and educators, we will try to restrain ourselves from saying that the question is
vacuous, grounded in fallacious assumptions and horrendous overgeneralizations. Instead, we will
search for a more tactful response, struggling for an answer that offers some nuance without sounding
as if we were denying or downplaying anti Semitism. Few issues generate so many emotional
arguments as this one, and few have been more thoroughly explored by scholars from a wide variety
of disciplines. Here is some hard truth about the Jews and Catholics.

Michael Jordan s journey to stardom began, but the beginning of Michael Jordan s High School career

Live Deal Inc. Five Day Stock Analysis
Live Deal Inc. Five Day Stock Analysis Live Deal Inc. (ticker LIVE) stock price and performance like
all publicly traded stocks can be found in countless finance and trading information websites. The
analysis reviews LIVEs five day stock performance in search of stock price and volume behavior
and/or patterns as a result of publicly available information and/or insider information. Unable to meet
the assignments original requirement due to a lack of positive stock surprises for the trading week of
12/26/14 to 01/02/15, the analysis focuses on negative stock surprises. In doing so, the analysis takes
into consideration and use of the efficient market Hypothesis (EMH), irrational trading behavior, and
technical analysis to identify trading patterns within the five day chart.
Efficient Markets Under the idea that markets are efficient, stock prices reflect new information
quickly and accurately. Furthermore, Morningstar (n.d.) contributes details on the strongest supportive
theory of efficient markets, EMH exists in three forms: weak, semi strong and strong. The hypothesis
calls for the existence of informationally efficient markets, were current stock prices reflect all
information, and attempts to outperform the market will only come in the form of riskier investments.
Also, because of a large number of independent investors actively analyzing new information

The Risks Of A Risk Assessment
Every institute is confronted with certain hazard or probable menace that could cause an intermission
to the administration s procedures. These hazards and intimidation can come from inside or external of
the association. To prepare for the foulest that could occur, administrations must emphasis their
responsiveness on how to evaluate diverse types of perils to guard the society against the conceivable
undesirable effects to the diurnal processes. Execution of a risk valuation is one of the most imperative
phases in the risk managing procedure (Goldenberg 2011).
A Risk Assessment is intermittent valuation of the hazard and degree of the damage that could result
from the unsanctioned admittance, usage, revelation, disturbance, alteration, or obliteration of data and
material structures that sustain the processes and properties of the association. The risk assessment
must contain a deliberation of the chief aspects in risk management: the worth of the scheme or
submission, intimidation, susceptibilities, and the efficiency of present or projected safeguards.
Many administrations accomplish risk valuations to ration the quantity of hazards that could affect
their association, and recognize methods to diminish these menaces before a chief catastrophe occurs.
Department of Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) monitors strategies and guidelines
administered by procedures by which the association evaluates and accomplishes coverage to hazards.

Mucus Essay
Lubricating and protective properties of mucus and its importance in the gastrointestinal tract
Mucus is a thick secretion made up of water, electrolytes, and a mixture of several glycoproteins. The
Glycoproteins are made up of large polysaccharides which are bound with much smaller quantities of
protein.
Mucus is slightly different in different parts of the gastrointestinal tract. It has numerous important
characteristics applicable everywhere that make it both a superb lubricant and a protectant for the wall
of the gut. These are as follows:
1. It has adherent qualities it adheres tightly to the food or other particles to spread as a thin film over
the surfaces.
2. It has sufficient body the wall of the gut is coated by the mucus and ... Show more content on

It causes fecal particles to adhere to one another to form the fecal masses that are excreted during a
bowel movement.
5. It can t be easily digested by the gastrointestinal enzymes (very strong resistance).
6. The glycoproteins of mucus have amphoteric properties (they are capable of buffering small
amounts of either acids or alkalies) and mucus regularly contains moderate amounts of bicarbonate
ions, which particularly neutralise acids.
Mucus allows easy slippage of food along the gastrointestinal tract and to prevent abrasive or
chemical damage to the epithelium. When the salivary glands does not secrete saliva you very quickly
become aware of the lubricating qualities of mucus, as it is then difficult to swallow solid food even
when it is eaten while drinking large amounts of water.
Lubricating and protective properties of mucus and its importance in other parts of the body
The mucus secreted by the epithelial cells within the linings of the respiratory and upper
gastrointestinal tracts also contains antimicrobial chemicals. As mucus is sticky, particles that stick to
it are prevented from entering the blood. In the upper respiratory tract they are swept by ciliary action
up into the pharynx and then swallowed, or are phagocytosed by macrophages in the various

Avoid Limiting Answers
I should avoid to put two ideas in one question, each idea should have its own question. I have to

error and sampling frame error. I should not target SIU students when I wanted to select business
owners in the City of Carbondale. This will help me not survey the wrong people. Furthermore, I
should avoid leading questions and asking wrong questions. I have to ask relevant questions that will
provide me with relevant answers to my questionnaire. I have to avoid using broad terms when
developing questions because respondents might misinterpret the questions. I should avoid limiting
answer options. Providing more answer options gives respondents a pool from which they can select
their preferred answers unlike when I channel them to only two options. The problem I had was that
some questions needed follow up questions while others needed preceding questions.
The questions were developed based on both the independent and dependent variables. I knew that the

Revolutionary Characters What Made The Founders Different...
Revolutionary Characters: What Made the Founders Different Scholarly Review
Gordon S. Wood, the author of the story, Revolutionary Characters: What Made the Founders
Different , retells the lives of many influential men, through series of essays, who will forever leave
their mark on the evolution of American government. These men helped create an egalitarian
government, which gave voice to the people, an idea very uncommon at this time. Thus, the citizen s
opinions of people in power changed, and there would no longer be a group of self made elite leaders
ever again. Instead, a group of government leaders was created to be equal to the citizens. He uses
these men, and their stories to support the thesis that the founders were a unique generation of men
and women that can never be replicated.

Despite Thomas Jefferson s remarks proclaiming that the Constitutional Convention delegates were an
assembly of demigods, most men began as simply farmers, lawyers, and authors. It wasn t until later

The fathers themselves were also slave owners, like many affluent men during this time. This is
another example of how they were much like everyday citizens, and it is only part of their lives we
wish to keep in memory. Wood writes from a different angle, forcing the reader to view these men in
an uncommon light. He emphasizes that it is important to understand where they came from, and why
they believed the ideas they did. It is not their upbringing, nor past that is defined, rather the virtues
and commitment they had to our country. That type of commitment and dedication has never been

Nietzsche Vs Rousseau Essay
The assumptions that Rousseau made about human nature were that humans are born naturally good,
free, and have good intentions, but they are made bad by society. He also believed that humans were
by nature social animals that desired to live with other humans in harmony. Moreover, he stated that
humans have an individual will and a general will, but for the government to work people had to
refute their individual will. Rousseau meant by his statement Man is born free, yet we see him
everywhere in chains, that the governments in Europe at the time were based on the assumption that
humans needed to be governed. He thought the only admissible government was one that would allow
humans to express free will and reach their full potential.

Nietzsche proposed two aspects of human nature: Apollonian and Dionysian. The Apollonian aspect
was the rational side and a desire for serenity, predictability, and orderliness. On the other hand, the
Dionysian aspect was the irrational side also known as barbarian. This aspect could not express itself
without abolishing the individual. An aspect of Freudian psychoanalysis anticipated by Nietzsche was
referring to these barbarian urges as the id. He stated for Dionysian urges to gain appearance, they
need to be altered by Apollonian rationality, this can be seen as sublimation. For both men,
sublimation explained the content of dreams. Further, Nietzsche explained without Apollonian
influence, the Dionysian aspect of personality would remain shapeless, while without Dionysian
influence, the Apollonian aspect of personality would be without emotion (Hergenhahn Henley, 2013,
p. 210). If those Dionysian urges become threatening the Apollonian rationality can ultimately repress
them. It is also here that Nietzsche anticipated an important aspect of Freudian psychoanalysis because
the concept of repression would become a foundation of Freudian

Analysis Of The Poem The Sky Is Gray Essay

American Lit II
S. Sonier
Post Modernism Essay
The Sky is Gray by Ernest Gaines is a realistic example of a long epidemic has hovered over the
African American community like an dark storm cloud just waiting to burst. Personally, this story
called to me, like I was meant to read it. The mother in this short story reminds me of my own mother.
Stepping into that masculine role to show strength and provide for her family. Then, teaching her son
these harsh life lessons to ensure his survival in a society that is not welcoming to an African
American man; act rationally, not emotionally.
The story opens with the narrator that is later introduced to the reader as James, an eight year old boy
with an awful toothache. James tries his best to conceal this from his Auntie and mother, Octavia.
James truly admires his mama, however he has the misfortune awareness of the poverty that his family
suffers from. He is so gravely aware of the situation that he tries to conceal his pain for a weeks span,
only confiding in his younger sibling Ty.
Early on in the story, importance of strength and endurance is the first major theme that appears
abundantly clear in the text, when James recalls the happier times before his father joined the Army
and did not return from the war. Octavia would stay up later back in those days, and now she would go
to sleep immediately after a meal. James pulls from his stream of consciousness to the a memory

The Suspension Of Habeas Corpus Essay
Suspension of Habeas Corpus Compersion On September 15, 1863 President Abraham Lincoln
temporarily suspended Habeas Corpus, which is the right to due process. Anyone who was a
confederate sympathiser or spoke out against the war were arrested, put in jail and weren t given a trial
until after the war was over. Lincoln suspended Habeas Corpus because he wanted to suppress
dissenters to strengthen the War effort. More than 13,000 civilians in the Union were arrested under
martial law throughout the War. Lincoln viewed his action as justified since he believed the country
was in a time of crisis. The Suspension of Habeas Corpus is significant because it helped Maryland
stay part of the Union, ultimately helping the Union win the War. Everyone who either protested the
war or was a confederate sympathizer was in prison, the Maryland vote for secession was put into the
hands of pro union voters. It was crucial Maryland stay part of the Union because Maryland was the
only accesses into the capital that the Union had. The suspension of Habeas Corpus strengthened the
war effort in the North because most of the war adversaries were arrested, causing the Union citizens
to feel positive about fighting for their country. Dred Scott vs Sandford Case In the March of 1857

Philip Axelrod s Final Socratics Seminar Questions Founding of the U.S 1) Where should the power
lie within the US.? (state/local level, national level) Neither, there must be balance between local and
national government. An example where almost complete power was held at the national level was the
British rule of the colonies. Although this rule did lend to economic and political stability (despite
falling apart pre revolution), the physical separation of the British national government from the local
American government lead to policies that seemed reasonable, but were actually out of touch with the
local population. In general, most taxes imposed by the British seemed reasonable to them, as they
were necessary to repay debt from the French and Indian war and the cost of soldiers to protect
colonists. Despite the fact that these taxes paid for entities benefiting the colonists, they were actually
disliked by the colonists. For example, the Sugar Act was passed, which halved the taxes on molasses
and started stricter enforcement of the tax was seen as a reasonable compromise by the British, but
actually protested by the colonists, due to the economic struggles caused by the seemingly innocuous

One prime example of such enforcement were the enforcement acts. These acts allowed the
government to ensure that black citizens had the same political rights as people of other races. They
also enforced the idea of equal protection of the law, which ensured that race equality be broken

equality across races, and could battle groups like the KKK which seeked to limit races equality.

The Unjust American Freedom
The Unjust Freedom The way the Americans gained independence may not be as valiant as it seems.
The war lacked just war criteria despite many arguments. The idea was foolish and unnecessary and
proved the lack of development amongst this young territory. Many factors lead to this premature
uprising and the French and Indian War is a great reason for most of those factors. The decision by the
American colonists to revolt against British rule was premature and overly aggressive. The American
plea for a Revolution did not meet the criteria of a just war. The factors for a just war are as follows:
probability of success, last resort, proportionate cause, comparative justice, competent authority, just
cause, and right intention (Keown American ). For a war to be just, the war must meet all of the
criteria for a just war. Though it s hard to name a war that met all of the just war criteria, it is just as
hard, if not harder to name a war that was justified. At the time, the probability of success would be
against the colonists. The British had the best navy in the world at the time and were a global
powerhouse (Keown American ). The fight was not a ʺlast resortʺ because independence had been
gained from Britain without raising arms (Keown ʺAmericanʺ). The colonists lacked proportionate
cause because the colonists already had financial issues and needed foreign mercenary aid to help
finance the fight (Keown ʺAmericanʺ). Transition There are various points that one could argue

  • 2. Read Wordsworth’s and Shelley’s poems To a Skylark and... Read Wordsworth s and Shelley s poems To a Skylark and Hughes poem Skylarks. Discuss the similarities and differences in the poets presentation of, and attitude to, the birds. There are a number of similarities and differences in Wordsworth s, Shelley s and Hughes presentation of, and attitude to the birds through form, diction and imagery. The first line in Wordsworth s poem is about an Ethereal minstrel! and a pilgrim of the sky! . This tells of a medieval singer who roams with a purpose. Wordsworth uses these to apostrophise the lark. When these lines are combined with others throughout the poem it becomes apparent that the lark is used as a metaphoric visual aid. This is shown with the apparent dichotomy between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The words flood and pour in the poem normally are associated with water, thus showing how the lark s music flows and how much of it there is. Wordsworth s poem is therefore presented as an apostrophe to a skylark that is quite rhythmic due to it being largely iambic pentameter. It is also written in a very traditional form with a strict rhythm and rhyme structure that suggests that it is pre 20th century. This is confirmed by the moral, philosophical view of lark, as it is shown to be a metaphor and moral for human life. As well as sharing the same title ( To a Skylark ), Percy Bysshe Shelley s poem also shares a similar way of presenting the lark. Composed five years before Wordsworth s poem, this poem is also written in a very traditional form with much archaic diction. It has a maintained stanza form throughout and is as, if not more, archaic shown by quotations such as, hail to thee and thou . In the second stanza, although there is no reference to a bird, the language used suggests an immense scale similar to that used in Wordsworth s presentation of the lark s flood of harmony or song. Quotations such as, Higher still and higher and springest , show this similarity. Similar to Wordsworth s poem, Shelley begins with exclamation with, Hail to thee, blithe spirit! . Again although much more subtle and less ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Russian Economic Overview Economic Overview: Although Russia is one of the BRICs countries; it is showing some weakness over the last years with the Euro crisis. The country suffered with economic problems that made its economy to slow the foreign demand. With the weaker foreign demand and the domestic fiscal consolidation made the output growth reduced to 3.4% in 2012. The weakness extended to 2013, with first quarter real GDP falling 1.1% from the previous period, reducing 12 month growth to 1.1%, the lowest rate since 2009. In this scenario, the investment in opening a BFSI in Russia would bring really bad results in terms of profits. In addition, the inflation in Russia rose up to 7.2% in April 2013. The final reason why Russia is going to provide a bad economic perspective to our company is direct related with the crisis in Ukraine. With this crisis, Russia would suffer a major recession and is being strongly affected due to its high dependence on energy supplies via Ukraine . Conclusion: Due to the political uncertainty combined with the weak economy that Russia is presenting for a forging investors, we conclude that better options of the BRIC s countries would be suggested to BFSI invest its money instead investing in the Russia market. Latin America: Venezuela: Political overview for forging companies: Since the adoption of a bilateral government and the differences in a variety of polices, made the political relationship between the United States and Venezuela become tense. • 4. Identity And Individualism In Bret Ellis Identity and individualism is a key theme in Bret Ellis s novel, American Psycho. Ellis depicts a society where these concepts have wholly dissipated and have been replaced by materialism, and studies the impossible effects it has on a person. The society that Bateman and his acquaintances live in are centered on materialism, money, and reputation. Success in this world is measured by the number of brands and products you own instead of an individual s happiness and fulfillment in life. Names of people neither hold a meaning nor show representation, while brand names and objects hold enough significance, in society, to represent a person s value and identity. Knowledge is a mere façade used to show that you are up to date with the trending times and intelligent. However, as we see from Bateman s constant rambling of music, art, and politics, knowledge itself is meaningless without the understanding and opinions behind it. With every character saying the same words, thinking the same thoughts, wearing the same suits, and having the same jobs individualism is completely diminished. Lack of individualism leads to lack of differentiation, and without opinions, emotions and connections to people characters in the novel not only lose their identity, but are almost unable to confirm their existence. In the novel, Patrick Bateman says, There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman, some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me, only an entity, something illusory, and though I can ... • 5. Emily Dickson Almost unknown as a poet in her lifetime, Emily Dickinson is now considered as one of the most mysterious and original American poet of 19th century for her innovation in rhythmic meters and creative use of metaphors. Her poems were rarely published in Russia because most of them had religious content (to express religious feelings was restricted in Russia for almost a century). However, some poems that I read impressed me at the first glance. Dickinson s poems spoke powerfully to me about meaningful events in living. Many impressions that she compressed into only few words helped me to understand my own experience through her emotional clarity. It was not easy to understand Dickinson s poems. I had to read between lines to get what she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She was less interested in answering questions about social events than she was in exploring how she felt at a giving moment. Emily Dickinson was almost unknown during her lifetime because she refused publish her poems and only seven of them were published anonymously during her lifetime. After Dickinson s death her sister Livinia found nearly two thousand of drafts wrote in pencil on scraps of paper, grocery lists, and the backs of recipes and used envelopes (Melani). Only few of them were titled and many were unfinished. Emily did not prepare her poems for publishing, but wrote for her own purposes. She was sensitive for any kind of attention and by copying poems into personal correspondence she controlled who would read her poems. Emily Dickinson died on 15 May 1886, at the age of fifty six. She was buried in one of the white dresses she wore in her later years and now rests in the West Cemetery of Amherst, Hampshire County, Massachusetts (Donoghue 38). The Homestead at Amherst, the place where Emily was born and spent much of her childhood and almost all her adult life, became Emily Dickinson s Museum and now open for the general public. • 6. The Disappearance Analysis The short story The Disappearance by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni basically is about an Indian man who lived in America. At first, he married an educated Indian girl. However, she, unlike her husband, did not have a traditional mindset. She eventually left him, and this was something which he could not accept. He started to recall the times when she was with him. He was in a state of denial that his wife could possibly leave him when he thought he had been good to him, and that he had done enough to satisfy her. However, this was not the case. His wife wanted a modern husband one who would let her have her say, and not only bringing her to Yosemite Park. He tried to forget about her, but he could not do so. He then came across a light ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She was also oppressed psychologically because she was restricted and could not live the life she wanted even though they were living in a free country. She eventually escaped and left behind the only product of their marriage which she really loved her son. This must be a hard decision for a mother to leave her child behind, but we can say that she is not entirely irresponsible. This is because chances of her child growing up normally like his peers would be unlikely if they were to be in hiding everyday. By leaving her son behind, the wife could ensure that he would be taken care of, at least financially, by her husband. She could not guarantee that for her child given the circumstances she would be facing by escaping from her husband. So, this point here reinforces Feminist criticism. However, there is also a quote in the story which undermines Feminist criticism. She d been out for her evening walk, she took one every day after he got back from the office. Yes, yes, always alone, she said that was her time for herself . Here, we can see that the wife was allowed to go for a walk every evening. She was not really restricted to be at home 24/7. This point here then undermines Feminist criticism. Besides that, the characters can also show us whether the short story reinforces or undermines Feminist criticism. There are two main characters in The Disappearance , which are the husband ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The occurrence of abdominal pains may also be caused by common illnesses such as indigestion, food allergies or even appendicitis (Golan Tashjian, 2012) . Test done for the 13 year old female patient may be expected to reflect suspected illness. • 15. Hardin Lifeboat Ethics Essay Although Hardin states reasonable facts against helping the poor in his essay, Lifeboat Ethics , he overlooks key factors which would contradict with his point of view. Hardin is against the sharing of resources because in his opinion the population growth rates of the poorer countries are much higher as opposed to the wealthier. He claims that if resources are shared equally amongst refugees in LEDCs, in 21 years, each American would have to share the available resources with more than eight people. What Hardin overlooks when making this statement is that the mean wealth is tied in with the mean birthrate. Reports today show that as the wealth of one rises, they have less children. This is proof that as the wealth of a country rises, the birthrate would then decrease. If this not be the case, for which there is a slight possibility, Hardin s argument may be valid. Hardin s observation of the comparatively higher birthrate of the poor compared to the lower birthrate of the rich is in fact correct but only to some extent. (ticker LIVE) stock price and performance like all publicly traded stocks can be found in countless finance and trading information websites. The analysis reviews LIVEs five day stock performance in search of stock price and volume behavior and/or patterns as a result of publicly available information and/or insider information. Unable to meet the assignments original requirement due to a lack of positive stock surprises for the trading week of 12/26/14 to 01/02/15, the analysis focuses on negative stock surprises. In doing so, the analysis takes into consideration and use of the efficient market Hypothesis (EMH), irrational trading behavior, and technical analysis to identify trading patterns within the five day chart. Efficient Markets Under the idea that markets are efficient, stock prices reflect new information quickly and accurately. Furthermore, Morningstar (n.d.) contributes details on the strongest supportive theory of efficient markets, EMH exists in three forms: weak, semi strong and strong. The hypothesis calls for the existence of informationally efficient markets, were current stock prices reflect all information, and attempts to outperform the market will only come in the form of riskier investments. • 33. The Risks Of A Risk Assessment Every institute is confronted with certain hazard or probable menace that could cause an intermission to the administration s procedures. These hazards and intimidation can come from inside or external of the association. To prepare for the foulest that could occur, administrations must emphasis their responsiveness on how to evaluate diverse types of perils to guard the society against the conceivable undesirable effects to the diurnal processes. Execution of a risk valuation is one of the most imperative phases in the risk managing procedure (Goldenberg 2011). A Risk Assessment is intermittent valuation of the hazard and degree of the damage that could result from the unsanctioned admittance, usage, revelation, disturbance, alteration, or obliteration of data and material structures that sustain the processes and properties of the association. The risk assessment must contain a deliberation of the chief aspects in risk management: the worth of the scheme or submission, intimidation, susceptibilities, and the efficiency of present or projected safeguards. Many administrations accomplish risk valuations to ration the quantity of hazards that could affect their association, and recognize methods to diminish these menaces before a chief catastrophe occurs. Department of Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) monitors strategies and guidelines administered by procedures by which the association evaluates and accomplishes coverage to hazards. Mucus Essay Lubricating and protective properties of mucus and its importance in the gastrointestinal tract Mucus is a thick secretion made up of water, electrolytes, and a mixture of several glycoproteins. The Glycoproteins are made up of large polysaccharides which are bound with much smaller quantities of protein. Mucus is slightly different in different parts of the gastrointestinal tract. It has numerous important characteristics applicable everywhere that make it both a superb lubricant and a protectant for the wall of the gut. These are as follows: 1. It has adherent qualities it adheres tightly to the food or other particles to spread as a thin film over the surfaces. 2. It has sufficient body the wall of the gut is coated by the mucus and ... It can t be easily digested by the gastrointestinal enzymes (very strong resistance). 6. The glycoproteins of mucus have amphoteric properties (they are capable of buffering small amounts of either acids or alkalies) and mucus regularly contains moderate amounts of bicarbonate ions, which particularly neutralise acids. Mucus allows easy slippage of food along the gastrointestinal tract and to prevent abrasive or chemical damage to the epithelium. When the salivary glands does not secrete saliva you very quickly become aware of the lubricating qualities of mucus, as it is then difficult to swallow solid food even when it is eaten while drinking large amounts of water. Lubricating and protective properties of mucus and its importance in other parts of the body The mucus secreted by the epithelial cells within the linings of the respiratory and upper gastrointestinal tracts also contains antimicrobial chemicals. As mucus is sticky, particles that stick to it are prevented from entering the blood. In the upper respiratory tract they are swept by ciliary action up into the pharynx and then swallowed, or are phagocytosed by macrophages in the various ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I have to select my population in a manner that I ask the relevant people in order to avoid population definition error and sampling frame error. I should not target SIU students when I wanted to select business owners in the City of Carbondale. This will help me not survey the wrong people. Furthermore, I should avoid leading questions and asking wrong questions. I have to ask relevant questions that will provide me with relevant answers to my questionnaire. I have to avoid using broad terms when developing questions because respondents might misinterpret the questions. I should avoid limiting answer options. Providing more answer options gives respondents a pool from which they can select their preferred answers unlike when I channel them to only two options. • 36. Revolutionary Characters What Made The Founders Different... Revolutionary Characters: What Made the Founders Different Scholarly Review Gordon S. Wood, the author of the story, Revolutionary Characters: What Made the Founders Different , retells the lives of many influential men, through series of essays, who will forever leave their mark on the evolution of American government. These men helped create an egalitarian government, which gave voice to the people, an idea very uncommon at this time. Thus, the citizen s opinions of people in power changed, and there would no longer be a group of self made elite leaders ever again. Instead, a group of government leaders was created to be equal to the citizens. He uses these men, and their stories to support the thesis that the founders were a unique generation of men and women that can never be replicated. The Revolutionary War, some argue as the most significant event in American history. At this time, the nation s noblest beliefs and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite Thomas Jefferson s remarks proclaiming that the Constitutional Convention delegates were an assembly of demigods, most men began as simply farmers, lawyers, and authors. It wasn t until later in life did they come politicians, presidents, and men of power who are now remembered and revered. The fathers themselves were also slave owners, like many affluent men during this time. This is another example of how they were much like everyday citizens, and it is only part of their lives we wish to keep in memory. Wood writes from a different angle, forcing the reader to view these men in an uncommon light. He emphasizes that it is important to understand where they came from, and why they believed the ideas they did. It is not their upbringing, nor past that is defined, rather the virtues and commitment they had to our country. That type of commitment and dedication has never been recreated in any future ... • 37. Nietzsche Vs Rousseau Essay The assumptions that Rousseau made about human nature were that humans are born naturally good, free, and have good intentions, but they are made bad by society. He also believed that humans were by nature social animals that desired to live with other humans in harmony. Moreover, he stated that humans have an individual will and a general will, but for the government to work people had to refute their individual will. Rousseau meant by his statement Man is born free, yet we see him everywhere in chains, that the governments in Europe at the time were based on the assumption that humans needed to be governed. He thought the only admissible government was one that would allow humans to express free will and reach their full potential. Existentialism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nietzsche proposed two aspects of human nature: Apollonian and Dionysian. The Apollonian aspect was the rational side and a desire for serenity, predictability, and orderliness. On the other hand, the Dionysian aspect was the irrational side also known as barbarian. This aspect could not express itself without abolishing the individual. An aspect of Freudian psychoanalysis anticipated by Nietzsche was referring to these barbarian urges as the id. He stated for Dionysian urges to gain appearance, they need to be altered by Apollonian rationality, this can be seen as sublimation. For both men, sublimation explained the content of dreams. Further, Nietzsche explained without Apollonian influence, the Dionysian aspect of personality would remain shapeless, while without Dionysian influence, the Apollonian aspect of personality would be without emotion (Hergenhahn Henley, 2013, p. 210). If those Dionysian urges become threatening the Apollonian rationality can ultimately repress them. Sonier Post Modernism Essay The Sky is Gray by Ernest Gaines is a realistic example of a long epidemic has hovered over the African American community like an dark storm cloud just waiting to burst. Personally, this story called to me, like I was meant to read it. The mother in this short story reminds me of my own mother. Stepping into that masculine role to show strength and provide for her family. Then, teaching her son these harsh life lessons to ensure his survival in a society that is not welcoming to an African American man; act rationally, not emotionally. The story opens with the narrator that is later introduced to the reader as James, an eight year old boy with an awful toothache. James tries his best to conceal this from his Auntie and mother, Octavia. James truly admires his mama, however he has the misfortune awareness of the poverty that his family suffers from. He is so gravely aware of the situation that he tries to conceal his pain for a weeks span, only confiding in his younger sibling Ty. Early on in the story, importance of strength and endurance is the first major theme that appears abundantly clear in the text, when James recalls the happier times before his father joined the Army and did not return from the war. • 39. The Suspension Of Habeas Corpus Essay Suspension of Habeas Corpus Compersion On September 15, 1863 President Abraham Lincoln temporarily suspended Habeas Corpus, which is the right to due process. Anyone who was a confederate sympathiser or spoke out against the war were arrested, put in jail and weren t given a trial until after the war was over. Lincoln suspended Habeas Corpus because he wanted to suppress dissenters to strengthen the War effort. More than 13,000 civilians in the Union were arrested under martial law throughout the War. Lincoln viewed his action as justified since he believed the country was in a time of crisis. The Suspension of Habeas Corpus is significant because it helped Maryland stay part of the Union, ultimately helping the Union win the War. Everyone who either protested the war or was a confederate sympathizer was in prison, the Maryland vote for secession was put into the hands of pro union voters. It was crucial Maryland stay part of the Union because Maryland was the only accesses into the capital that the Union had. The suspension of Habeas Corpus strengthened the war effort in the North because most of the war adversaries were arrested, causing the Union citizens to feel positive about fighting for their country. (state/local level, national level) Neither, there must be balance between local and national government. An example where almost complete power was held at the national level was the British rule of the colonies. Although this rule did lend to economic and political stability (despite falling apart pre revolution), the physical separation of the British national government from the local American government lead to policies that seemed reasonable, but were actually out of touch with the local population. In general, most taxes imposed by the British seemed reasonable to them, as they were necessary to repay debt from the French and Indian war and the cost of soldiers to protect colonists. Despite the fact that these taxes paid for entities benefiting the colonists, they were actually disliked by the colonists. For example, the Sugar Act was passed, which halved the taxes on molasses and started stricter enforcement of the tax was seen as a reasonable compromise by the British, but actually protested by the colonists, due to the economic struggles caused by the seemingly innocuous tax. • 42. The Unjust American Freedom The Unjust Freedom The way the Americans gained independence may not be as valiant as it seems. The war lacked just war criteria despite many arguments. The idea was foolish and unnecessary and proved the lack of development amongst this young territory. Many factors lead to this premature uprising and the French and Indian War is a great reason for most of those factors. The decision by the American colonists to revolt against British rule was premature and overly aggressive. The American plea for a Revolution did not meet the criteria of a just war. The factors for a just war are as follows: probability of success, last resort, proportionate cause, comparative justice, competent authority, just cause, and right intention (Keown American ). For a war to be just, the war must meet all of the criteria for a just war. Though it s hard to name a war that met all of the just war criteria, it is just as hard, if not harder to name a war that was justified. At the time, the probability of success would be against the colonists. The British had the best navy in the world at the time and were a global powerhouse (Keown American ). The fight was not a ʺlast resortʺ because independence had been gained from Britain without raising arms (Keown ʺAmericanʺ). The colonists lacked proportionate cause because the colonists already had financial issues and needed foreign mercenary aid to help finance the fight (Keown ʺAmericanʺ).
