Branding And Its Effect On Society
In society today, everything has a name for it. If the product doesn t have a well known name, it
goes by name that a well known product that is similar goes by. Branding has made its impact on
society and it s never going to go away. In this situation, all we can do from here is analyze more
and more until we fully understand its presence in society and its effects. Brandinghas its biggest
effects on consumerism, which makes us question consumerisms power in society. Has our society
become one big, replicated consumer or can a consumer or even a person still be unique and
individual? Branding creates competition amongst companies throughout the world and creates a
competition for the consumers. Not only, it also creates issues, creates... Show more content on

Consumerism and the effects of branding affect people s lives. Branding allows consumers to
easily identify which products are made by which companies. Yet, the brands create more of an
influence on consumer s lifestyles and in the end decide what kind of consumer that person is.
Branding creates a blurred divide in our society. Consumers who are ore likely to purchase the
branded products that are associated with better quality and higher prices are put into their own
category bucket versus the consumers who choose the cheaper priced products that are made
with less quality. When it comes to deciding who you are based off of the products and brands
that you associate yourself with, it creates a capital divide in our society. Consumers than
associate brands with personal feelings based upon whether or not they associate themselves with
those brands. Lives of consumers are heavily influenced. Their lives are worse off when they feel
the need to keep up with brands in order to feel as if they are portraying themselves in the best
light. In a way, this is similar to how all of branding began with livestock. Consumers want to
physically brand themselves with specific brands by wearing logos and identifying with a brand.
They might not be burning the brands directly onto their skin but they are burning the brands onto
their clothes and burning holes in their wallets to keep up with society standards about brands. Not

The Role Of Heroes In Oppel s Airborn
Heroes are ordinary people who make themselves extraordinary Gerard Way. Heroes are not
always the most recognizable, as they are found when they step up to the occasion at hand. All
heroes, whether it be as big as saving the planet, or as small as gaining the courage to overcome
something in life, have a distinct journey that they traverse. In the novel Airborn, by Kenneth
Oppel, the protagonist, namely Matt Cruse, goes on a journey to, one day, be the captain of an
airship. Slowly, yet surely, he aims to progress up the ranks from his current job as a cabin boy,
starting with the job of assistant sailmaker. He does this through the initial refusal of his call to

Matt has had one mission for the most of his life; to fly an airship just like the Aurora. As part of
the reward, Matt ultimately does fly the Aurora out of danger, and unknowingly, fulfills his
dreams. After Matt calmly steers the Aurora from a collision with a mountain, Captain Walken
says, Carry on, Mr. Cruse. Take us to our new heading, please...Excellent. You were born to it,
Mr. Cruse, no question. You re flying now. (311 312). Captain Walken is very pleased with Matt,
and allows Matt to control the ship even after they are safe. A second reward Matt receives is a
share of money, a whole lot of it, for discovering the whereabouts of the pirates secret island base.
Matt s first person narration states, My share of the reward was more than enough for tuition to
the Academy, and with letters of reference from Captain Walken, I was offered a place starting in
the spring term. The remainder of the reward money took care of my mother and sisters, while I
was a student and sending back no salary from the Aurora (318). Matt is now studying at the
Airship Academy, with the help of the reward money. By using his skill, Matt single handedly
awarded himself the chance to fly the Aurora at last, and attend the Airship Academy, to gain the
much needed official

The Patriot Act
The dreadful and terrifying events of September 11 necessitated and increased government s
responsibility to take effective measures for preserving lives of the people and ensuring
independence of the society. In this context, the Senate, the House of Representatives, and President
Bush pledged to respond within boundaries set by the Constitution confronting and preventing
terrorist attacks. Through Patriot Act, the law enforcement agencies of the Untied States are given
the most effective tools to combat terrorists having intentions or plans to attack the nation. It is, in
fact, a significant weapon for nation s fight against terror. Major purpose of the Patriot Act is to
break wall of regulatory and legal polices existing between the law enforcement agencies and
intelligence to share essential as well as related information. The law enforcement agencies and the
government are given wide discretionary powers to acquire information not only from suspected
people but also from the law abiding Americans. After attacks of September, 11, the nation s top
most priority is to defend its citizen from the terrorists using all information in the areas of finances,
religious organizations, health etc. The law focuses on improving the counterterrorism efforts of
intelligence and law enforcement agencies of the United States. It is pertinent to mention that civil
freedom of American citizens is not only important during wartimes but also in the period of peace,

The Transfer Of Property For Non Recognition Treatment
Facts
Bob and Carl transferred property to Stone Corporation in exchange for 90% and 10%,
respectively, of Stone stock. Bob then sells half of his Stone stock to Carl, pursuant to a binding
agreement between the two of them. We have been asked whether or not this transfer of property
for Stone meets the Sec. 351 control requirement for non recognition treatment.
Issues
To determine whether the transfer of property meets the Sec. 351 control requirements, the
requirements under Section 351(a) will have to be met. Had Bob not transferred half of his stock
to Carl pursuant to the binding agreement, he would meet the requirements. To determine whether
or not Bob still meets the Sec. 351 control requirement for non recognition treatment, a further
look at Section 351 and Reg. Sec. 1.351 1 will have to be taken to determine whether or not the
sale of his stock to Carl still qualifies Bob s transfer of property for non recognition treatment.
Law
Under Section 351(a), the transfer of property to a corporation is nontaxable only if the transferors
control the corporation immediately after the exchange; control is defined as being 80% of the
corporations voting stock. Reg. Sec. 1.351 1(a) further outlines the requirements for an 80%
control test, but does not mention of provide any further insight on whether the prearranged
binding agreement which had Bob sell half of his stock to Carl will meet the control requirements.
There are 2 factors listed in Reg. Sec. 1.351 1 that could

Marilyn Monroe Emotional Issues
One of the things a woman wants most in this world is for someone to relate and/or understand
her. Ever since I can remember, I ve had that one person to look up to that I felt could relate to me.
As long as I can remember, that person was Marilyn Monroe. At about the age of 5, I saw her face
on the television screen and by about the age of 12 years old, I was researching all I could about
her. The more I learned about her, the more my love grew for her and the more I knew she would
understand me if she were here today. Marilyn Monroewas an iconic celebrity but also very
relatable to the average woman who deals things such as tough emotional issues, harsh body image
problems and having a hard time trusting people or building relationships.
Everyone has issues that we deal with; we re only human, right? The emotional issues we deal
with daily can be anger, sadness, depression, etc. Marilyn dealt with these emotions as much as
anyone else, but there was a time she had said, I am not a victim of emotional conflicts. I am
human . She understood that as a human being, we all have emotional problems, but it s how
one deals with their emotions that matters. These emotional issues can stem from many different
situations or moments in our life. Dealing with a bully in school, an abusive parent or whatever
it may be, can cause these issues. Unfortunately, Marilyn had to deal with emotional issues
stemming form the relationship with her mother. One of Marilyn s family members was quoted
saying: Gladys didn t hug, kiss or smile, Marilyn s niece, Mona Rae Miracle, exclusively tells
Closer. She was delusional, and she heard voices from electrical appliances. She was antisocial
and unable to express any emotion, except anger . Marilyn s mother s inability to feel or express
emotions was of no benefit to the growth of an impressionable girl such as Marilyn. Marilyn
unfortunately paid dearly from this and grew up battling her emotions all of the time. So, knowing
what we ve learned so far, there s no doubt that Marilyn Monroe dealt with the same kind of
problems your average jane deals with.
Emotional issues wouldn t be the only way for Marilyn to relate to us average Janes these days,
because she

Analysis Of Malcolm X English Language
In this article he laments the fact that his communicative knowledge was low and that he never
received a response from any of the letters he wrote to those outside of prison. This was where he
acknowledges his frustration about his language ability. He compared his ability to speak the
English language prior to his imprisonment with his prison attempts to communicate to different
people and he saw that the latter was vastly inferior to the former. He says, I became increasingly
frustrated at not being able to express what I wanted to convey in the letters I wrote... In the street I
had been the most articulate hustler out there I commanded attention... (pg.68). This realization
provided the spark he needed to start improving his language... Show more content on

He saw that he could not communicate effectively with his new intended audience and sought to
see where he could improve. By comparing his ability to his pre prison audience and how he
communicated with them, he found a strategy that would be effective (pg. 68). This was another
thing he did well. He was open minded enough to realize that his language use to his restricted
audience would not work with the people he was not trying to communicate. He was smart enough
to realize that he, not his audience, had to make the necessary changes if he was going to express
his ideas in a manner that was easy for them to understand. This ability is illustrated by his words,
...neither would I replied to anyone writing me something as wild as the white man is the devil
(pg. 67). There really is not much weakness to this article as it does not leave out any vital details
concerning his realization that he needed to be better educated. The article is all about Malcolm X
turning a weakness into a strength which he later used for his future success. The points Malcolm
X makes about learning one s language are excellent. If one wants to communicate with others in
an articulate and clear manner then knowing one s native language is imperative. Especially if
one wants or is expecting a well reasoned response. He writes, It was because of my letters...
starting to acquire some sort of homemade education. (pg.68). In that essence it is easy to agree

Analyzing the Case of C.W. Williams Community Health Center
Introduction
A Community health center can be defined as a center where high quality primary and preventive
healthcare is provided regardless of the ability of the patient s financial situation. There are some
basic characteristics a community health center must possess to be fully functional. Some of which
are:
the population that the health center caters to must be identified as an unserved or underserved one
offering a wide range of health services such as health education, prevention of diseases, treatment
and other social benefits.
Ensuring the members of the board of directors are indigenes of the county and patients of the
community health center.1
The C.W. Williams health center known previously as the Metrolina health center was established
by Dr. Charles Warren who was the first African American staff in the surgical department of North
Carolina s largest hospital alongside some other healthcare leaders. Its mission is primarily to
adequately provide quality and accessible care to the people of Mecklenburg County ensuring
efficient service, effective systems, and personal care with the help of supportive staff in conducive
environments.

Pros And Cons Of Space Travel
Evidence of liquid water is found on Mars, which if it weren t for NASA this would not have
been known. So what will be learned from private companies? Space travel should not be
privatized because they wasted the government s money and failed NASA, they are only taking
cargo, and if they succeed, they will have more control over space travel than NASAand the
government. Making something private basically means that it will go from being owned by the
government to a private company. NASA has already become partially private, they launched two
shuttles from other companies with the help of NASA.
Wasting and failing
If private companies already failed so many times what makes us trust them now? According to
Dinerman, Companies have over promised ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If NASA becomes private then that means that companies could have more knowledge than the
government since they do give more money to NASA. If they turn private they would think only
about the flight, for example taking cargo, not about actual research. The idea is that getting
astronauts into orbit, which NASA has been doing for 49 years, is getting to be so old hat that
someone other than the government can do it. (Borenstein par.2) The companies may think that it
is simple. If others are allowed to take astronauts, it is not positive that they know what can happen.
Final thoughts
Space privatization can be helpful in some ways, for example it could give jobs to some people
but according to Borenstein, ..former NASA officials worried about safety and from congressional
leaders worried about lost jobs (par.3). NASA will just be another customer to companies, for
example, when NASA had to pay Russia. This topic is important because, it will determine what
our future generations will know about space. This mean that in the future, if the become private it
could only turn about flight, and the research will not be important

Communism And Capitalism And Communism Essay
Introduction:
Political Science has left its scholar an extremely wide ocean, filled with endless studies and
undone debates about Political Sciences theories. All through the past ages, political scientists
have rose from diverse cultures, examining their ideologies based on only their culture, and in
outmost cases their perception about other cultures. Political ideologies are the concepts that
ease the complex social world that we live in so that it can make more sense. The ideologies are
applied by means of offering what is named as an intellectual map, which helps people know their
positions in a society and help create a well organized state of a social landscape, targeting one
thing; an ideal society.
Regardless of any reviewed ideology, this paper discusses two of which have been so controversial;
Communism and Capitalism. In political and social, communism is a social, political, and economic
ideology and movement whose ultimate goal is the establishment of the communist, which is a
socioeconomic order structured upon the common ownership of the means of production and the
absence of social classes, money, and the state. However, Capitalism is defined as an economic
system based on private ownership of the means of production, and their operation for profit.
Capitalism centralized characteristics include private property, capital accumulation, wage labor,
voluntary exchange, a price system, and competitive markets.
Nevertheless, some questions remain unanswered

Piccasso s Life
In regard to his artistic gift, Piccasso s early life was both promising and disheartening. It was
promising because Picasso was a son of an artist, though not as talented, he was an important facet
in developing Picasso s gift by providing the necessary tools to harness it. Additionally,
His sister Lola, three years younger, challenged him to create drawings, requesting, for example,
that he draw a dog or a donkey, beginning from any body part such as an ear or a paw (Blum 268).
The drawing challenges the sister gave enabled Picasso to have better mastery of the canvas and
to draw from different angles. The author suggests that his sister was key to developing his
versatility of spatial repositioning of his art. However, in a negative twist ... Show more content on

One can hardly understand the mystery in painting drawings that imply blindness in matters
presented in the artwork bearing in mind that Picasso was an artist who had the sense of sight
(Blum 275). However, The blind figures tend to evoke compassion, pity, and sadness, and perhaps
reassure the spectators that they do not share in this misfortune. Yet all art has elements of
ambiguity, and each spectator has a personal perception and response that may change with each
exposure to the work of art (Blum 275). Blindness symbolizes desperation and misfortune since it is
not a standard feature for everyone hence Picasso finds it fascinating to deliver his message of self
pity and sadness in a manner that captures the attention of the spectator. However, the author
presumes that Picasso may have unconsciously developed a failure attitude, which led him to use
the theme of blindness to evoke the compassion of his spectators enabling him to triumph the
period of limited appreciation. Consistently, The old Guitarist is bent over his instrument, immersed
in the auditory sphere of music, a rhapsody in blue , so important for the blind (Blum 281). Picasso
precociously outlines the importance of other sensory perceptions, such as hearing, to complement
blindness and that is why the old Guitarists bends to make out the audio tune of his music.

Essay On Factory Farming
Do you know what your meal went through to get to your plate and how it is affecting your day to
day life? Factory farming is an industrial type operation that uses large quantities of animals to
provide food fast and efficiently. Almost all the meats and animal byproducts that we consume,
cause harm and pain to the animals as they go through the cycle of factory farmingand it might
cause issues affecting your health. Factory farming is unethical because the practices are
uneconomical, unsanitary, and unnecessary. Factory farming is raising livestockwith one intent in
mind, which is getting money fast while spending little. They use shortcuts to make production
more efficient, but do so without the animal s wellbeing in mind. Some people agree with the

The Bright Side Of School Uniforms. Education In The United
The Bright Side of School Uniforms Education in the United States from Kindergarten all the way
to 12th grade is known for its free education system. That s right, students all over the country are
given the opportunity to retrieve a high school diploma for free. Education in this country is so
important that schools around the country are pushing their board of educationto propose the policy
of school uniforms nationwide, as they believe school uniforms have a very beneficial and positive
effect on a student s learning abilities, behavior, and lifestyle. School uniforms are increasingly
becoming more popular throughout the United States, therefore schools across the country are

School uniforms are typically enforced by private or charter institutions, however, public schools
across the country are increasingly adopting the proposal of these uniforms. Who knew that the
way a student dresses everyday could have such a responsible role in the increase of their
performance within the classroom? Studies conducted by David L. Brunsma, a professor at Virginia
Tech, discuss the overall effect of school uniforms on a student body. The text mentions how about
one in five public schools during the 2013 2014 school year have effectively established school
uniforms at their institutions. This percentage may seem doubtfully small but from the perspective
of how many public schools are in the United States, which is roughly ninety nine thousand, the
number of effected schools in the country is quite a few. Although there is not any numerical
percentage of how much a student s academic achievement increases, it is well known that
uniforms simply make a student feel more calm and confident in themselves in general. School
uniforms are also beneficial in preventing visual distraction amongst the student body within the
classroom, because with an effective school uniform policy there are much less dress code
violations from both genders that can be seen as provocative attire. .

A Research on Interaction Design
Within this essay i will be writing about interaction design i will cover my chosen subject in detail
via the extensive research i have gathered. I will define and analyse interaction design using key
examples of this design practise both historical and contemporary.
I have chosen to focus my essay on interaction design as I ve recently finished a project on wave
two witch my final out come was a design/ prototype for an interactive phone application that
allowed the user to get advise on editing there CV in order to improve there chances of getting
work. I focused my design to be simple to use in hope that every user would be able to understand
on how to easterly with out any confusion navigate the app when using it. I have always been
aware about interactive ensign but that was the first time i practised it myself.
from the information i have gathered and what i have know before my definition interaction design
is pretty much built of the basis of graphic design itself you need to have fundamental skills of
knowing how to use the colour theory, typography, follow the grid, point line and form most or
even all the techniques used in graphic design. Where as technology has improved these days
interactive design has never been used so much as it is today. Being used on loads of new

History Of St. Albans Sanatorium
St. Albans Sanatorium has a beautiful Sphinx like presence that literally vibrates with
remarkable energy. She will often call out to certain people, pulling them into her arms and into
her service. I know, because she chose me to help save her and I am not alone. When I first came
to St. Albans I was working with merchandising. At that time I was afraid of the dark hallways
and empty rooms of the old asylum. I quickly overcame my fear of the place and it was replaced
by a love of the building and what it had meant for so many who had come before me. We are its
caretakers. Those of us, both paid and volunteer who strive to keep the doors open to a place
worth saving, a place that was once the caretaker to so many within its care. Those of us who are
now here carry on the vision of people like Don Hanauer, former Director of Operations for St.
Albans. He saw the beauty in this building and had a vision of restoring it to its former glory. As
outlined in the final chapter of this book, we have worked on a number of special events
developed to generate funding for the structure s restoration. At some point, Don s vision for St.
Albans became mine. After Don left I knew that I would need to lead the effort to take the
sanatorium from disrepair back into wholeness. The beauty and Spirit of this historic landmark now
draws paranormal investigators from all over America and beyond, to walk the hallways with the
intent of encountering its remaining residents. No one, paranormal

Procrastination is Synonymous with Hesitation
Procrastination as Hesitation: A Synonymous Definition Procrastination is synonymous with
hesitation, as this is a process by which people hesitate to complete a task rather than finishing it
quickly. Some might wait until the last minute before a deadline, others may start a project and
have trouble continuing where they have left off, and others may even procrastinate to the point
of never completing a task in time. While not completing a task is not as definitive as
procrastination as hesitation since procrastinators are generally known for doing their work.
Procrastination is somewhat healthy while being unable or unwilling to complete needed jobs is
inherently unhealthy. One might also say that procrastination in necessary to make informed
decisions, to prepare for a speech or presentation that has to be delivered, or even to study for a
test. The longer one waits, the more time one has to gather additional information informally and
to come into the correct mindset to do good work. To utilize the examples above one may wait to
commit to a date or social gathering due to the possibility of other tasks that may need to be
prioritized. As far as giving a presentation or speech, one must not only know the content, he or she
must also be physiologically prepared to face an audience and this can be quite stressful. This might
mean gathering the materials for the presentation more informally yet not completing the speech
preparation until right before it is given, so

Vaccination And Its Effects On Children
Vaccination is a preparation of antigenic material that can be used to stimulate the development of
antibodies and thus confer active immunity against a specific or number of diseases. It is a medical
treatment administered to an otherwise healthy individual. Virtually all other invasive medical
interventions occur only once someone has called ill. Vaccination, like most medical treatments, can
involve some risk. And therefore it should be undertaken only after careful consideration of its
risks versus its benefits. The first vaccinewas developed in 1796 by Edward Jenner, to prevent the
effect of a deadly diseases called smallpox. The demonstration proved to the science community
that it worked and the support for vaccination grew and became mandatory. In this generation we
are seeing more vaccines given to more children at a younger age than ever before in history. As
the number of vaccines given to children increased, there has been a rise and moderate to severe
Asthma, seizures, diabetes, and food allergies diagnosed with autism. There are a lot of viral
material in vaccination such as DNA, Foreign DNA, Animal DNA most commonly green
monkeys and chicken and all the kind of DNA we are not eating but injecting into our bodies.
Do we really know what we are creating? And do we really believe help can only come through
vaccine and that it is safe and effective? There is zero scientific prove of that and yet the FDA and
CDC approved it and continues to support it to benefit

Okemo Mountain Golf Course Analysis
Shortly after joining a country club in the hills, I became addicted to golf. Golf is a traditional
sport that has been around since the 15th century. There are over 35,000 different courses
throughout the world with each track having its own unique layout, terrain and hazards. This leads
to endless possibilities when searching for courses to challenge your skills on. Courses generally
consist of nine holes or eighteen. The options are unimaginable when choosing where to play and it
s just you, your clubs, and a little white ball quietly strolling through some spectacular scenic
nature. It s an extraordinary gamethat can be played in so many memorable locations worldwide. I
had a number of thoughts going into my first round of golf. I wondered what the next hole would
bring and whether it would be full of water, sand, or just lined with trees. Brooklawn Country Club

I traveled toward the east coast scenery and decided to head north to the mountains. This was a
drastic change as I headed to the Okemo Mountain Golf Course in Ludlow, Vermont. It was
autumn and the middle of the fall foliage season. I enjoyed a glimpse of nature s splendor while
observing all the vibrant yellows, reds and oranges of the leaves. The course was visually so
much different, yet I was still surrounded by different fascinating sights in nature. Can you
imagine playing at a beach and then playing less than a mile from a ski mountain? The wildlife
amongst the course was stunning. I lost my ball on one hole and when I went to look for it I
came across a bear. I was scared, but also amazed at what animals live on the grounds of each golf
course. There are such a variety of terrains, locations, and animals that I have come to encounter
along different courses and it has drastically deepened my appreciation for

NAFTA boosted regional trade but had some undesirable effects. The Mexican government used
to subsidize corn. It kept the crop price high so small farmers could stay in business. And it kept
corn product prices low so poor people could eat. The trade agreement removed tariffs in order to
lower costs and encourage investment between the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The Mexican
government ended its corn subsidy, and the U.S. government continued to subsidize highly
productive American corn producers. Seventy five thousand Iowa farmers grew twice as much
corn as three million Mexican farmers at half the cost. U.S. corn flooded Mexico. Illegal
immigration led to massive militarization of the border. In Mexico, manufacturers built new
factories for cars, TVs and other goods, replacing some jobs that used to be in the U.S. NAFTA
benefited corporations operating in all three countries, but it led to flat or lower wages for the

Things Fall Apart Changes
The world is ever changing and the majority of change comes from the outcomes on battlefields.
Change comes from the destruction of war. The outcome of the war can either bring peace or it
can bring something far worse than what the original conditions were. In Chinua Achebe s world,
it was not necessarily a full blown war that brought change, but to the Ibo people it must have felt
as if they were being invaded. The white men came into their village of Umuofia and turned
everything upside down. Most of the tribe s people did not understand the changes that they
brought to their way of life. The Ibo people slowly lost their way and were changed into something
that to them was unrecognizable from their traditional ways (Achebe 174). In The... Show more

In the poem The Second Coming , Yeats writes the falcon cannot hear the falconer (Yeats n.p.).
This line goes with the idea of the world falling apart because the falcon cannot do its job without
its master or leader the falconer. This applies to World War Ibecause although there were generals
ordering men on the battlefield, most people saw the war as aimless killing. Yeats must have
thought that the soldiers or the falcons were being sent into the battle without sound orders from
their leaders or the falconers. This shows the destruction that occurred during the war due to the
ignorance of the leaders. Achebe would agree with Yeats on the idea that without sound
directions from leaders the people do not know how to act properly. In Things Fall Apart, Mr.
Smith captures all the leaders of Umuofia and the tribe does not know how to act without them.
They do not fight for them back, and they do not question the orders given by Mr. Smith s
missionaries. The people of the tribe end up paying for their leaders release, therefore giving in
the Mr. Smith s demands. Without true orders from sound leadership the Ibo world and the world
of World War I face problems that can lead to their

Compare And Contrast Antigone And Othello
Antigone was brave to stand up against the men in charge in her time and she died not because
she necessarily had a flaw but because she never gave upon her beliefs. Othello s flaw was
succumbing to jealousy which leads to his downfall. While both characters can be considered
tragic hero s we can see many similarities and differences as we observe them through Aristotle s
definition of a tragic hero. Aristotle breaks down tragic hero s by the hamartia, hubris, and the
peripeteia. These describe the downfall of a hero, their reversal in fortune, and the disrespect for the
natural order of things. After comparing Antigone and Othellothrough Aristotle s definition of a
tragic hero, I believe that Antigone is closer to a true tragic hero than Othello.
While Antigone did not have a thematic flaw like Othello did, her headstrong attitude and
unwillingness to let her Uncle Creon giver her brother Polyneices an improper burial would set the
chain of events leading to her downfall. The Hamartia is the tragic flaw that causes the hero s
downfall, and in this sense the greater tragedy is that Antigone could not escape death because her
character strongly believed the laws of the Heavens were greater than those of Creon s. No
matter how she chose to argue against Creon, her end result would have been grave, they
considered stoning her before locking her in a tomb and starving her. Antigone ultimately decided
to take her own life rather than have her convictions broken, something we can clearly see when
she boldly states If life must be a thing of fear and lying and compromise; if life cannot be free,
gallant, incorruptible then, Creon, I choose death! .
Othello was a beloved and respected general in the Venetian army, but through a paranoid fit of
jealousy he conspires with Iago to kill his wife and her thought to be lover Cassio. While it is
clear that the theme of Othello is jealousy, the green eyed monster , Othello never has solid proof
of the affair. Most of the evidence is circumstantial, but word of mouth through Iago coupled with
Othello s extreme jealousy pushes him to desire to murder his wife Desdemona and close friend
Cassio. Othello claims to have a profound love for Desdemona but it simply takes one

Glass Ceiling Thesis
Abstract
The glass ceiling is an expression used to describe the unseen barrier preventing women and other
minorities from reaching the top executive levels. This problem solution research paper represents
the allegations argued by the critics of the glass ceiling accentuating on the reasons why women
are not able to reach top positions, such as lack of time and family responsibilities. However, it
also represents ways to shatter the glass ceiling such as offering formal educations for women,
helping women with dual roles, and applying proactive recruitment. It is based on several studies
and experiments aim to prove that women do have powerful skills that authorize her to reach top
levels and should not be discriminated against men.

Nonetheless, with help and support of the other partner, women can manage between the family

that women are less than men mentally or biologically. In fact, some women do have higher

Most Efficient Method Of Quantifying Radioactive Strontium
Summary This report, Most Efficient Method of Quantifying Radioactive Strontium , determines
what the most efficient method is for quantifying radioactive strontium when analyzing samples for
radioisotopes of strontium, specifically Sr 89 and Sr 90. The analysis was performed from
information collected by studying journal articles, recalling personal experiences at work, and
reading textbooks about the different types of particle detectors. Information collected from the
referenced sources and personal experience show that the Cherenkov counting method is the most
efficient method for Sr 89 determination and the proportional counting method is the most efficient
method for Sr 90 determination. The report finds that proportional counting is the best method for
Sr 90 determination, Cherenkov counting is the best method for Sr 89 determination and a method
that incorporates different detectors is the most efficient method. It is recommended for an
analytical laboratory to always first use Cherenkov counting or proportional counting for strontium
analysis. It is also recommended to create technical work instructions for a multi detector method
that is updated every 6 months with improvements on the method. 1.0 Introduction The analytical
chemistry laboratory at Kinectrics Inc. offers a wide variety of services that include
radiochemistry, general chemistry, and oils analysis. The radiochemistry laboratory, in which I was

The Role Of Literature, Literacy, And Language Acquisition
Literature, Literacy, and Language Acquisition all play a major role not only specifically for
learning but also in society. The definition of literacy in the past focused only on the ability to read
and write print text, but the definition of literacy is no longer static. It is evolving to reflect society
and technology making literacya vital component in any environment. Literacy in the modern
world is the ability to read, write, design, speak, listen and view in a way that allows you to
communicate successfully. Nevertheless, literacy is the ability to read and write. To build a
relationship with literacy in both children and adults we need to have a clear grasp of how we

Literature does not just stop at reading a book. Here in Australia, the National Curriculum insures
children will learn from literature from spoken, written and oral texts including Aboriginal stories,
picture books, various types of print and digital texts, simple chapter books, rhyming verse, poetry,
non fiction, film, multimodal texts and dramatic performances (www.australiancurriculum.edu.au).
Literature is an important part of teaching children to read and comprehending language in many
forms. Keeping children engaged and learning from different forms of literature is essential for
education and society. Society is built on Literature. We like to read others stories, share and learn
from their experience and this is the same for children too. Children reacts to literature in a living
way, an inspiring story creates a great influence for the child where as one of questions ignites their
curiosity and drives their need for information further. Literature therefore is forever building
knowledge and inspiration no matter what your age is.
There are many theories regarding Language Acquisition and in the 1960s, linguist Noam
Chomsky proposed a revolutionary idea: We are all born with an innate knowledge of grammar
that serves as the basis for all language acquisition. In

What Was The Triple Alliance In 1914
It is human nature for people to look back at past events in retrospection, wondering if the
outcome would have changed if a decision was made differently. World War I, or the war to end
all wars, began in the summer of 1914, but it was the events leading up to it, such as the creation
of alliances, which decided the fate of the war. Alliances are formal military or political agreements
between countries, which state that the will back the other country in the event of an attack, either

The Triple Alliance was a confidential alliance, which would militarily back the other country in
the event of a conflict. Germany was the strongest power in the alliance, with a growing

that it had a very weak army and navy, which had little funding, but it had a geographical
advantage compared to Austria and Germany, so it served as a military base 2. Austria Hungary
benefited from the alliance because it protected them from Russia, who had conflicts with Austria
in the Balkans and Bosnia 3. Another alliance which played a prominent role in World War I, was
the Triple Entente, which consisted of Russia, France, and Great Britain. The Triple Entente was

strongest, most technologically advanced navy, while France had a flourishing economy 4. The

Laura Koller s Spring Wedding
Spring Wedding
In my senior project, Laura Koller s wedding meant so much for me to be able to be a part of
putting my creativity into her wedding. I want Laura to have the best wedding with the most
amazing flowers she choose and to not worry about having the flowers not being the way she wants
them to be. When Laura s wedding caught my attention, I felt honor to be able to be part in the
next step in someone s lifetime. In this project, I ll talk about the history of weddings, the flowers
that were used, the creation and the packing up.
The flowers or herbs were used in historical weddings since the beginning of time to show a way
of love and well wishes to everyone. The first use of wedding flowers were the ancient Greeks.
The flowers or plants were used to make a crown for the bride to wear and was a gift of nature.
The bridesmaids would have floral decorations which were garlands, bridal bouquets and
boutonnieres. Mostly the bridesmaids were to make a poesies, to make, for each guest to wear as a
symbol of saying thanks. Over time, the flowers and their meanings stayed the same but the herbs
lost their place in modern North American weddings. Some of the cultures and religions have
intertwine herbs with flowers to celebrate the marriage with a gift of nature. Leading up to and
during the Middle Ages, weddings were considered as a family and community affairs. The only
main thing about a wedding was for both partners to state a consent to take one of them as a spouse.

Persecution In The Passage Of Persecution
Hebrews 10:33,34 states Sometimes you were exposed to public ridicule and were beaten, and
sometimes you helped others who were suffering the same things. You suffered along with those
who were thrown into jail, and when all you owned was taken from you, you accepted it with
joy. You knew there were better things waiting for you that will last forever (NLT). Whomever
the author could be for it is unknown to those reminds the Hebrew Christians that they have once
faced persecution before. Being persecuted for living a life of Christ instead of self, may bring
pain and sorrow upon Christians. For Christ, endured pain and sorrow on the way toward to the
cross or his earthly death. The author goes on to say that those that have been persecuted greater
things were to come their way. All they had to do was remain faithful to Godand God would be
faithful to them. Those who are studying this passage of scripture must know that they too will be
tested or persecuted in their faith walk, must know that God is on their side. The persecutions will
bring about trust, strength, and patience. The issues that come with persecution in this passage of
scripture is that Christians does not have to do anything wrong or sin against God, just claiming
to be a child of God only brings about persecution. Two ways to overcome this persecution is to
know that God is always with his children, and Christ will return to his children one day and carry

Professionalism in the Army
Military Professionalism by SPC Murray
Professionals in the United States Army stand apart from others engaged in particular careers in
the civilian world. While many vocations contain some of the characteristics of professional, a lot
of careers do not include all of the elements necessary to distinguish themselves as being as close to
a professional as a United States soldier. Professionalism grows depending on the time and service
they have in the Army. A professional has specialized knowledge and skill which can only be
acquired through prolonged education and experience. Such skill and experience form the basis of
objective standards of professional competence that separate the practicing professional from their

Soldiers must be committed to justice in the performance of their official duties. Decisions must
not be arbitrary, capricious, or biased. Individuals must be treated equally and with tolerance.
Caring. Compassion is an essential element of good government. Courtesy and kindness, both to
those we serve and to those we work with, help to ensure individuals are not treated solely as a
means to an end. Caring for others is the counterbalance against the temptation to pursue the
mission at any cost. Respect. To treat people with dignity, to honor privacy, and to allow self
determination are critical in a government of diverse people. Lack of respect leads to a breakdown
of loyalty and honesty within a government and brings chaos to the international community.
Promisekeeping. No government can function for long if its commitments are not kept. Soldiers are
obligated to keep their promises in order to promote trust and cooperation. Because of the
importance of promisekeeping, leaders must only make commitments within their authority.
Professionalism is a subject that is near and dear to my heart. Professionalism is important for all
of us who are part of the military institution in both active and Reserve components. It is important
for all of us who love and respect the Army. We live in a time of change for the Army, and, as in all

Eight Signs Miracles Jesus Performed and His Deity
EIGHT SIGNS MIRACLES JESUS PERFOMED AND HIS DEITY
LIBERTY UNIVERSITY

The first sign miracles Jesus performed were when he had gone to a wedding in Cana John 2:1
12). Jesus and his disciples (6 of them) had arrived at the wedding, which was already in progress.
This miracle symbolizes the Church s (the bride s) relationship to Christ (The bridegroom). Mary,
Jesus mother was at the wedding as well. She went to Jesus and told him that they had run out of
wine. Mary probable was related to the bride because a wedding in Galilee was a family affair, and
female s relatives of the bride were in charge of the kitchens. Mary and Jesus were related to the
bride because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After what the people had seen Jesus do they said that truly this is the prophet the one prophesied
by Moses (Deut. 18:15), to come into the world. There is a lesson in the Leftover. God gives in
abundance.
The fifth miracle performed by Jesus: Jesus walking on the water. Later that evening the
disciples got into a boat and sailed on the Sea of Galilee toward Capernaum. The wind was
blowing and the water became rough. They had rowed three or three and a half mile out into the
sea, they saw Jesus approaching the boat walking on the water. The Disciple were frightened, but
Jesus said, It is I; do not be afraid. Jesus shows his deity in this statement because He used the
Jewish designation of Yahweh, I AM and his power over natural laws.
Healing of a blind man sixth miracle performed by Jesus. When a person is saved, he/she gains a
new ability to see and understand the things of God (1Corinthians 2:14 15). The Disciple asks
Jesus who sinned this man or his parents. Jesus replied neither the man nor his parents he was
born blind. This happened so the work God can do a miracle in his life. Jesus healed the man in
an unusual way. Jesus spit on the ground and made mud to repair the man eyes, Jesus was
working with original materials. Jesus put the mud on the man eyes and told him to go wash in the
Pool of Siloam. When the man washed in the Pool of Siloam the man was healed. Jesus
demonstrates his power over physical laws.

Child Labor During The Progressive Era
During the progressive era the conditions of the factories that children worked in were extremely
brutal. Children Worked in very hot factories and some were only at the age of 4 ( Child Labor
Britannica). The reason factories were hot were because there were so many children confined in
the factories. This means that there were sweaty, hot children working 16 hours a day. In the book
Children at work, there was a child working at a furniture factoryand he had dozens of infected
wood splints. This is bad because it shows how cruel people were to children during the
progressive era. This affected children modern days because if child labor kept on going on
children would not be able to attend as often much school as they do now.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Bv Vs Sky Tv
British Satellite Broadcasting VS Sky Television
Both the companies at the start go critically for the sake of having a good competition with each
other. BSB was the consortium established in 1986. It was given the exclusive license to be the
first UK s DBS channel operator. As the 1986 was the starting point so that proved critical enough
to BSB and therefore it suffered losses.
By getting a 15 years authority by IBA to commence its services on three DBS channels, all BSB
considered was a mega plan to take a start with 400,000 satellites in its first year s broadcasting and
2,000,000 in 1992, and 6,000,000 by 1995. But when it came to the reality, the table was turned
against the anticipations and BSB faced the losses of approximately ВЈ6 7 ... Show more content on

And by the merger these could also have been saved. Here, the merger is suggested as the best
solution because it has more advantages than the disadvantages. As another solution, we can also
see towards a scenario in which BSB could use the more sophisticated technology but with less
cost and with less other costs like depreciation, sub managing, satellites, advertising etc. and this all
would be possible only if it had the good management like its competitor, and BSB could have
changed wholly the nature of interaction if it had created some obstacles in the launch of the Sky
Television. But when we come to its after effects we see that there shall be definitely a reaction
caused by prevention of launching by the Sky Television and whereby the strict cold war between
them could get a start that would not be viable for both of the powers.
In 1990, BSB was enjoying the great market share but this all got tainted with the sudden arrival of
the Sky Television in the market. When both companies were in the market BSB was actually
losing the money mainly due to its high capital investment. SKY benefited a lot from the market
monopoly. Overall Sky had a dominant strategy but for BSB it was more complicated since the
only way to be profitable was to become a

Divergent Essay Identity
Everyone is special. Each person is known to present a zeal of individuality, each specialising in
a unique set of traits while learning from them to create new ones. Moreover, Veronica Roth has
written a novel called Divergent. The novel takes place in a world composed of the ideology of
identity where each person is divided into factions , places that tell how they think and behave.
All things considered, the story identifies many components of self identity and symbolises it into
a new take on how the human perceives individuality. The story is followed by many characters,
Four, a young man empowered by an ugly past, and Tris, a teen with a gift she is forced to partake.
In the novelDivergent, self identity is exemplified through the actions... Show more content on

Likewise, humanity can find themselves like Tris, where she is baptised with dangerous and
unexpected titles in Divergent. The term Divergent is an impact of the life of the society in the
novel. Divergents are described to be people with a diverse set of emotions, possibly bring
unbalance to their orderly utopia. Tris never expected to be Divergent. However, she represents
how human beings usually cope when faced with a disorderly circumstance. She describes her trait
of diversity as if ‒someone breathed new air into my lungs. (Roth 442) Insignificance,
acceptance is a huge step to recognising self identity. Tris has learned to define herself according
to one of her most doubted moral. For instance, it was a huge breath for her to fully embrace her
Divergent mind. Similarly, men and women can learn from this as a life lesson as the unexpected
can be the most beneficial on how they perceive themselves. Nevertheless, Tris also relies on the
brave and selfish persona as a Dauntless initiate. Despite lived in a brave new world of adventure
she realises the true definition of her bravery and bravery among others. Beforehand, Tris used to
live in a complete opposite of dauntless where those dwelling lived upon pillars of selflessness. In a
mature talk with Four about her experience in Dauntless, she states ‒that selfishness and bravery
aren t all that different. (Roth 336) Even when traits have a reasonable contrast, those opposite
contracts. For instance, Tris finds similarity between a discrepancy. Thus, it symbolises that
believing that each emotion of one s life builds upon each other creates a personality that can
overcome the greatest of odds. In her time in Dauntless, Tris creates a friendship among many
people, especially Christina. Christina was known as Tris first actual friend, due to the boundaries
in Abnegation, her last faction. Over the course of the book, Tris and Christina

Innocence In John Knowles A Separate Peace
John Knowles captivating novel A Separate Peace explores the eventful life of two adolescent
students in New Hampshire during a time of complication and chaos in World War II. Finny, an
astonishingly athletic and adventurous boy, gets himself and his best friend Gene Forrester into a
bit of mischief during their experiences in school, where he tends to do the opposite of what
others expect him to do, making him a truly unique character. Despite living in a time of World
War II, the evils of the world do not exist in Finny s world because of his inherent innocence. In his
time at school, the actions and optimistic opinions of Finny make him the epitome of innocence,
but when the events of his life force him to confront the hatred and evil... Show more content on

After suffering severe damage to both his leg and his innocence, Finny reveals that he [has] been
writing to the Army and to the Navy and to the Marines because he will hate it everywhere if [he
is] not in this war (Knowles 190). Finny s eventual acknowledgement of the war and attempt to
enlist in the military display the internal change that he undergoes throughout the novel; Finny s
feelings toward the war symbolize the destruction of his innocence. When Brinker confronts Finny
about his accident, Have you ever thought that you didn t just fall out of that tree? he shakes his
head sharply, closing his eyes...he [starts] across the marble floor towards the doors, resulting in
his body falling clumsily down the white marble stairs (Knowles 169,176,177). Finny begins to
feel his innocent world finally collapse when Brinker and the other boys force him to acknowledge
the fact that his best pal pushed him off of the tree. Finny falling down the stairs in chaotic fashion
symbolizes realization that his world begins to fall apart. Finny s once innocent but now crushed
personality displays how even the most optimistic people of the world will inevitably undergo
internal struggle and change when they confront the evil in the

Varsity Vs. Club Sports
The ball is rolling down the field with players from each team chasing after it, who will get there
first? The home team wins the race and passes the ball to their teammate. They settle the ball,
gather their footing, and kick the ball at the goal. The goalie dives and misses the ball as it hits
the back of the net. The team rushes toward each other celebrating the goal with a team hug. Club
sports are just as entertaining as varsity sports yet most people don t see it this way. This is only
one of the multiple differences between varsity and club soccer. Most varsity athletes take for
granted their trainer access and preferential treatment. Yet participants in club sports are not even
allowed to talk to a trainer or use the school vans... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are multiple vans sitting out in the South Parking Lot, that hardly ever get used. There is
no reason why the Athletic Department can t let us use those buses to drive ourselves to games.
They don t need to pay a driver, we can drive ourselves to save money. This is an easy fix and
would make traveling for club teams much easier. It would also eliminate the chances of getting
separated and lost. The Athletic Department may object to this solution because, it is a liability
to the school and will cost the school gas money. However, club soccer fundraises for uniforms,
therefore we could also fundraise a little extra money to fill up the gas tanks for the buses. They
could also make club athletes fill out liability forms, like going on a field trip in high school, that
says the school is not liable for anything that happens. Field space is limited and this makes it
difficult for both varsity and club to find space and time to practice. Take soccer for example. There
are three grass soccer fields available to play on. However, one is called Melucci Stadium and is
used strictly for games and is off limits for practices. Now we are down to two fields, neither of
which have lights. This makes a difference because both varsity soccer teams have a field from
four to six. Now where does that leave club soccer? Well, they let us have the fields from six to
eight, yet around

Benefits Of Keeping Marine Animals In Zoos
Keeping marine mammals and fish in aquariums in zoos is stressful for the fish; marine mammals
and fish can thrive in captivity, but they can only do so under safe and secure conditions. These
mammals should be kept in marine sanctuaries. Marine sanctuaries are a portion of the ocean where
the government controls the activity and interference of humans. These sanctuaries are designed for
scientific research and recreation. Fish and marine mammals are not meant to be confined to a
small and unhappy environment, where humans enjoy staring at the fish s home. The Humane
Society of the United Statesexplains their opinion in their article, Keeping Marine Mammals in
Captivity is Cruel Exploitation that keeping these wild mammals is wrong and only for the
public s amusement. The Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums believes that
keeping these marine mammals in zoos benefits the health of the fish and educates the public.
The Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums makes sure education is the top priority
of every worker; they rescue, rehabilitate, and release marine mammals and fish that are
abandoned and helpless. Their main goal is to educate the public about their work and to
hopefully release the fish back into its home in the ocean. Unfortunately, some of the marine
mammals and fish are too frail and weak to be released back into the ocean. If this is the case, the
Alliance members will provide a safe and friendly home for the helpless marine mammal.

I couldn t bear it. When my father pulled up to the curb, I quickly kissed them both good bye and
jumped out of the car. I was just about inside when I heard a funny sound that sounded like my
name. I stopped in my tracks and turned around. There was Suzy, standing up outside the car on
wobbly knees, wig slightly askew. With her arms outstretched, she said gently, Good bye,
Nanny, I love you. I hugged her so hard I was afraid she might crumble. And then I ran to catch
my plane. I never saw my sister alive again. After nine operations, three courses of chemotherapy
and radiation, she had lost her three year war. By the time I flew back to her side it was too late.
She was gone. Nancy founded the Susan G Komen foundation to save as many people from
going through what her sister and her family went though. Susan G Komen foundation is
dedicated to finding a cure for breast cancer so that there are no more sad stories like the one you
just heard me tell about Nancy and Susan. The Susan G Komen foundation has come long way
and has had a huge impact on the fight against breast cancer, I support them and I know they will
never give up until we find a cure for breast cancer, and neither will I.
I want to end this speech by giving you all 3 tips on how to you can be more aware about breast
cancer in yourself and your loved ones. The first tip is to learn about your risk of breast cancer.

The Roots Of The Enlightenment
Between the years of 1685 1815 the focus of European thought had drastically shifted as a result of
what is known as the Age of Reason era, or more commonly known as the Enlightenment. The roots
of the enlightenment sprang about during the time of the Renaissance. Enlightenment thinkers such
as David Hume, Voltaire, and Jean Jacques Rousseau questioned the traditional ways of authority,
and looked to improve mankind with logical changes. The American Revolution, was partially due
to members of the enlightened sect, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson. The Enlightment
roots started in the early 17th century where contributors sought to shed light on human intellect as
well as culture after what is known as the dark middle ages. The notion

In this situation, all we can do from here is analyze more and more until we fully understand its presence in society and its effects. Brandinghas its biggest effects on consumerism, which makes us question consumerisms power in society. Consumerism and the effects of branding affect people s lives. Branding allows consumers to easily identify which products are made by which companies. Yet, the brands create more of an influence on consumer s lifestyles and in the end decide what kind of consumer that person is. Branding creates a blurred divide in our society. Consumers who are ore likely to purchase the branded products that are associated with better quality and higher prices are put into their own category bucket versus the consumers who choose the cheaper priced products that are made with less quality. When it comes to deciding who you are based off of the products and brands that you associate yourself with, it creates a capital divide in our society. Consumers than associate brands with personal feelings based upon whether or not they associate themselves with those brands. Lives of consumers are heavily influenced. Their lives are worse off when they feel the need to keep up with brands in order to feel as if they are portraying themselves in the best light. In a way, this is similar to how all of branding began with livestock. Consumers want to physically brand themselves with specific brands by wearing logos and identifying with a brand. They might not be burning the brands directly onto their skin but they are burning the brands onto their clothes and burning holes in their wallets to keep up with society standards about brands. As part of the reward, Matt ultimately does fly the Aurora out of danger, and unknowingly, fulfills his dreams. You were born to it, Mr. Cruse, no question. You re flying now. (311 312). Captain Walken is very pleased with Matt, and allows Matt to control the ship even after they are safe. A second reward Matt receives is a share of money, a whole lot of it, for discovering the whereabouts of the pirates secret island base. Matt s first person narration states, My share of the reward was more than enough for tuition to the Academy, and with letters of reference from Captain Walken, I was offered a place starting in the spring term. The remainder of the reward money took care of my mother and sisters, while I was a student and sending back no salary from the Aurora (318). • 4. The Patriot Act The dreadful and terrifying events of September 11 necessitated and increased government s responsibility to take effective measures for preserving lives of the people and ensuring independence of the society. In this context, the Senate, the House of Representatives, and President Bush pledged to respond within boundaries set by the Constitution confronting and preventing terrorist attacks. Through Patriot Act, the law enforcement agencies of the Untied States are given the most effective tools to combat terrorists having intentions or plans to attack the nation. It is, in fact, a significant weapon for nation s fight against terror. Major purpose of the Patriot Act is to break wall of regulatory and legal polices existing between the law enforcement agencies and intelligence to share essential as well as related information. • 5. The Transfer Of Property For Non Recognition Treatment Facts Bob and Carl transferred property to Stone Corporation in exchange for 90% and 10%, respectively, of Stone stock. Bob then sells half of his Stone stock to Carl, pursuant to a binding agreement between the two of them. We have been asked whether or not this transfer of property for Stone meets the Sec. 351 control requirement for non recognition treatment. Issues To determine whether the transfer of property meets the Sec. 351 control requirements, the requirements under Section 351(a) will have to be met. Had Bob not transferred half of his stock to Carl pursuant to the binding agreement, he would meet the requirements. To determine whether or not Bob still meets the Sec. 351 control requirement for non recognition treatment, a further look at Section 351 and Reg. Sec. 1.351 1 will have to be taken to determine whether or not the sale of his stock to Carl still qualifies Bob s transfer of property for non recognition treatment. Law Under Section 351(a), the transfer of property to a corporation is nontaxable only if the transferors control the corporation immediately after the exchange; control is defined as being 80% of the corporations voting stock. Reg. Sec. 1.351 1(a) further outlines the requirements for an 80% control test, but does not mention of provide any further insight on whether the prearranged binding agreement which had Bob sell half of his stock to Carl will meet the control requirements. • 6. Marilyn Monroe Emotional Issues One of the things a woman wants most in this world is for someone to relate and/or understand her. Ever since I can remember, I ve had that one person to look up to that I felt could relate to me. As long as I can remember, that person was Marilyn Monroe. At about the age of 5, I saw her face on the television screen and by about the age of 12 years old, I was researching all I could about her. The more I learned about her, the more my love grew for her and the more I knew she would understand me if she were here today. Marilyn Monroewas an iconic celebrity but also very relatable to the average woman who deals things such as tough emotional issues, harsh body image problems and having a hard time trusting people or building relationships. Everyone has issues that we deal with; we re only human, right? The emotional issues we deal with daily can be anger, sadness, depression, etc. Marilyn dealt with these emotions as much as anyone else, but there was a time she had said, I am not a victim of emotional conflicts. I am human . She understood that as a human being, we all have emotional problems, but it s how one deals with their emotions that matters. These emotional issues can stem from many different situations or moments in our life. Dealing with a bully in school, an abusive parent or whatever it may be, can cause these issues. Unfortunately, Marilyn had to deal with emotional issues stemming form the relationship with her mother. One of Marilyn s family members was quoted saying: Gladys didn t hug, kiss or smile, Marilyn s niece, Mona Rae Miracle, exclusively tells Closer. She was delusional, and she heard voices from electrical appliances. She was antisocial and unable to express any emotion, except anger . Marilyn s mother s inability to feel or express emotions was of no benefit to the growth of an impressionable girl such as Marilyn. Marilyn unfortunately paid dearly from this and grew up battling her emotions all of the time. So, knowing what we ve learned so far, there s no doubt that Marilyn Monroe dealt with the same kind of problems your average jane deals with. Emotional issues wouldn t be the only way for Marilyn to relate to us average Janes these days, because she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Analysis Of Malcolm X English Language In this article he laments the fact that his communicative knowledge was low and that he never received a response from any of the letters he wrote to those outside of prison. This was where he acknowledges his frustration about his language ability. He compared his ability to speak the English language prior to his imprisonment with his prison attempts to communicate to different people and he saw that the latter was vastly inferior to the former. He says, I became increasingly frustrated at not being able to express what I wanted to convey in the letters I wrote... In the street I had been the most articulate hustler out there I commanded attention... (pg.68). This realization provided the spark he needed to start improving his language... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He saw that he could not communicate effectively with his new intended audience and sought to see where he could improve. By comparing his ability to his pre prison audience and how he communicated with them, he found a strategy that would be effective (pg. 68). This was another thing he did well. He was open minded enough to realize that his language use to his restricted audience would not work with the people he was not trying to communicate. He was smart enough to realize that he, not his audience, had to make the necessary changes if he was going to express his ideas in a manner that was easy for them to understand. This ability is illustrated by his words, ...neither would I replied to anyone writing me something as wild as the white man is the devil (pg. 67). There really is not much weakness to this article as it does not leave out any vital details concerning his realization that he needed to be better educated. The article is all about Malcolm X turning a weakness into a strength which he later used for his future success. The points Malcolm X makes about learning one s language are excellent. If one wants to communicate with others in an articulate and clear manner then knowing one s native language is imperative. Especially if one wants or is expecting a well reasoned response. He writes, It was because of my letters... starting to acquire some sort of homemade education. (pg.68). In that essence it is easy to agree with Malcolm ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Space travel should not be privatized because they wasted the government s money and failed NASA, they are only taking cargo, and if they succeed, they will have more control over space travel than NASAand the government. Making something private basically means that it will go from being owned by the government to a private company. NASA has already become partially private, they launched two shuttles from other companies with the help of NASA. If NASA becomes private then that means that companies could have more knowledge than the government since they do give more money to NASA. If they turn private they would think only about the flight, for example taking cargo, not about actual research. The idea is that getting astronauts into orbit, which NASA has been doing for 49 years, is getting to be so old hat that someone other than the government can do it. (Borenstein par.2) The companies may think that it is simple. If others are allowed to take astronauts, it is not positive that they know what can happen. Final thoughts Space privatization can be helpful in some ways, for example it could give jobs to some people but according to Borenstein, ..former NASA officials worried about safety and from congressional leaders worried about lost jobs (par.3). NASA will just be another customer to companies, for example, when NASA had to pay Russia. This topic is important because, it will determine what our future generations will know about space. This mean that in the future, if the become private it could only turn about flight, and the research will not be important ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Communism And Capitalism And Communism Essay Introduction: Political Science has left its scholar an extremely wide ocean, filled with endless studies and undone debates about Political Sciences theories. All through the past ages, political scientists have rose from diverse cultures, examining their ideologies based on only their culture, and in outmost cases their perception about other cultures. Political ideologies are the concepts that ease the complex social world that we live in so that it can make more sense. The ideologies are applied by means of offering what is named as an intellectual map, which helps people know their positions in a society and help create a well organized state of a social landscape, targeting one thing; an ideal society. Regardless of any reviewed ideology, this paper discusses two of which have been so controversial; Communism and Capitalism. In political and social, communism is a social, political, and economic ideology and movement whose ultimate goal is the establishment of the communist, which is a socioeconomic order structured upon the common ownership of the means of production and the absence of social classes, money, and the state. However, Capitalism is defined as an economic system based on private ownership of the means of production, and their operation for profit. Capitalism centralized characteristics include private property, capital accumulation, wage labor, voluntary exchange, a price system, and competitive markets. • 12. Piccasso s Life In regard to his artistic gift, Piccasso s early life was both promising and disheartening. It was promising because Picasso was a son of an artist, though not as talented, he was an important facet in developing Picasso s gift by providing the necessary tools to harness it. Additionally, His sister Lola, three years younger, challenged him to create drawings, requesting, for example, that he draw a dog or a donkey, beginning from any body part such as an ear or a paw (Blum 268). The drawing challenges the sister gave enabled Picasso to have better mastery of the canvas and to draw from different angles. The author suggests that his sister was key to developing his versatility of spatial repositioning of his art. However, in a negative twist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One can hardly understand the mystery in painting drawings that imply blindness in matters presented in the artwork bearing in mind that Picasso was an artist who had the sense of sight (Blum 275). However, The blind figures tend to evoke compassion, pity, and sadness, and perhaps reassure the spectators that they do not share in this misfortune. Yet all art has elements of ambiguity, and each spectator has a personal perception and response that may change with each exposure to the work of art (Blum 275). Blindness symbolizes desperation and misfortune since it is not a standard feature for everyone hence Picasso finds it fascinating to deliver his message of self pity and sadness in a manner that captures the attention of the spectator. However, the author presumes that Picasso may have unconsciously developed a failure attitude, which led him to use the theme of blindness to evoke the compassion of his spectators enabling him to triumph the period of limited appreciation. Consistently, The old Guitarist is bent over his instrument, immersed in the auditory sphere of music, a rhapsody in blue , so important for the blind (Blum 281). Picasso precociously outlines the importance of other sensory perceptions, such as hearing, to complement blindness and that is why the old Guitarists bends to make out the audio tune of his music. ... Education in this country is so important that schools around the country are pushing their board of educationto propose the policy of school uniforms nationwide, as they believe school uniforms have a very beneficial and positive effect on a student s learning abilities, behavior, and lifestyle. School uniforms are typically enforced by private or charter institutions, however, public schools across the country are increasingly adopting the proposal of these uniforms. Who knew that the way a student dresses everyday could have such a responsible role in the increase of their performance within the classroom? Studies conducted by David L. Brunsma, a professor at Virginia Tech, discuss the overall effect of school uniforms on a student body. The text mentions how about one in five public schools during the 2013 2014 school year have effectively established school uniforms at their institutions. This percentage may seem doubtfully small but from the perspective of how many public schools are in the United States, which is roughly ninety nine thousand, the number of effected schools in the country is quite a few. Although there is not any numerical percentage of how much a student s academic achievement increases, it is well known that uniforms simply make a student feel more calm and confident in themselves in general. School uniforms are also beneficial in preventing visual distraction amongst the student body within the classroom, because with an effective school uniform policy there are much less dress code violations from both genders that can be seen as provocative attire. . ... I have chosen to focus my essay on interaction design as I ve recently finished a project on wave two witch my final out come was a design/ prototype for an interactive phone application that allowed the user to get advise on editing there CV in order to improve there chances of getting work. I focused my design to be simple to use in hope that every user would be able to understand on how to easterly with out any confusion navigate the app when using it. I have always been aware about interactive ensign but that was the first time i practised it myself. from the information i have gathered and what i have know before my definition interaction design is pretty much built of the basis of graphic design itself you need to have fundamental skills of knowing how to use the colour theory, typography, follow the grid, point line and form most or even all the techniques used in graphic design. Where as technology has improved these days interactive design has never been used so much as it is today. She will often call out to certain people, pulling them into her arms and into her service. I know, because she chose me to help save her and I am not alone. When I first came to St. Albans I was working with merchandising. At that time I was afraid of the dark hallways and empty rooms of the old asylum. I quickly overcame my fear of the place and it was replaced by a love of the building and what it had meant for so many who had come before me. We are its caretakers. Those of us, both paid and volunteer who strive to keep the doors open to a place worth saving, a place that was once the caretaker to so many within its care. Those of us who are now here carry on the vision of people like Don Hanauer, former Director of Operations for St. Albans. He saw the beauty in this building and had a vision of restoring it to its former glory. As outlined in the final chapter of this book, we have worked on a number of special events developed to generate funding for the structure s restoration. At some point, Don s vision for St. Albans became mine. After Don left I knew that I would need to lead the effort to take the sanatorium from disrepair back into wholeness. The beauty and Spirit of this historic landmark now draws paranormal investigators from all over America and beyond, to walk the hallways with the intent of encountering its remaining residents. Procrastination is Synonymous with Hesitation Procrastination as Hesitation: A Synonymous Definition Procrastination is synonymous with hesitation, as this is a process by which people hesitate to complete a task rather than finishing it quickly. Some might wait until the last minute before a deadline, others may start a project and have trouble continuing where they have left off, and others may even procrastinate to the point of never completing a task in time. While not completing a task is not as definitive as procrastination as hesitation since procrastinators are generally known for doing their work. Procrastination is somewhat healthy while being unable or unwilling to complete needed jobs is inherently unhealthy. One might also say that procrastination in necessary to make informed decisions, to prepare for a speech or presentation that has to be delivered, or even to study for a test. The longer one waits, the more time one has to gather additional information informally and to come into the correct mindset to do good work. To utilize the examples above one may wait to commit to a date or social gathering due to the possibility of other tasks that may need to be prioritized. As far as giving a presentation or speech, one must not only know the content, he or she must also be physiologically prepared to face an audience and this can be quite stressful. Vaccination And Its Effects On Children Vaccination is a preparation of antigenic material that can be used to stimulate the development of antibodies and thus confer active immunity against a specific or number of diseases. It is a medical treatment administered to an otherwise healthy individual. Virtually all other invasive medical interventions occur only once someone has called ill. Vaccination, like most medical treatments, can involve some risk. And therefore it should be undertaken only after careful consideration of its risks versus its benefits. The first vaccinewas developed in 1796 by Edward Jenner, to prevent the effect of a deadly diseases called smallpox. The demonstration proved to the science community that it worked and the support for vaccination grew and became mandatory. In this generation we are seeing more vaccines given to more children at a younger age than ever before in history. As the number of vaccines given to children increased, there has been a rise and moderate to severe Asthma, seizures, diabetes, and food allergies diagnosed with autism. The outcome of the war can either bring peace or it can bring something far worse than what the original conditions were. In Chinua Achebe s world, it was not necessarily a full blown war that brought change, but to the Ibo people it must have felt as if they were being invaded. The white men came into their village of Umuofia and turned everything upside down. Most of the tribe s people did not understand the changes that they brought to their way of life. In the poem The Second Coming , Yeats writes the falcon cannot hear the falconer (Yeats n.p.). This line goes with the idea of the world falling apart because the falcon cannot do its job without its master or leader the falconer. This applies to World War Ibecause although there were generals ordering men on the battlefield, most people saw the war as aimless killing. Yeats must have thought that the soldiers or the falcons were being sent into the battle without sound orders from their leaders or the falconers. This shows the destruction that occurred during the war due to the ignorance of the leaders. Achebe would agree with Yeats on the idea that without sound directions from leaders the people do not know how to act properly. In Things Fall Apart, Mr. Smith captures all the leaders of Umuofia and the tribe does not know how to act without them. They do not fight for them back, and they do not question the orders given by Mr. Smith s missionaries. • 26. Compare And Contrast Antigone And Othello Antigone was brave to stand up against the men in charge in her time and she died not because she necessarily had a flaw but because she never gave upon her beliefs. Othello s flaw was succumbing to jealousy which leads to his downfall. While both characters can be considered tragic hero s we can see many similarities and differences as we observe them through Aristotle s definition of a tragic hero. Aristotle breaks down tragic hero s by the hamartia, hubris, and the peripeteia. These describe the downfall of a hero, their reversal in fortune, and the disrespect for the natural order of things. After comparing Antigone and Othellothrough Aristotle s definition of a tragic hero, I believe that Antigone is closer to a true tragic hero than Othello. While Antigone did not have a thematic flaw like Othello did, her headstrong attitude and unwillingness to let her Uncle Creon giver her brother Polyneices an improper burial would set the chain of events leading to her downfall. The Hamartia is the tragic flaw that causes the hero s downfall, and in this sense the greater tragedy is that Antigone could not escape death because her character strongly believed the laws of the Heavens were greater than those of Creon s. No matter how she chose to argue against Creon, her end result would have been grave, they considered stoning her before locking her in a tomb and starving her. Antigone ultimately decided to take her own life rather than have her convictions broken, something we can clearly see when she boldly states If life must be a thing of fear and lying and compromise; if life cannot be free, gallant, incorruptible then, Creon, I choose death! . Othello was a beloved and respected general in the Venetian army, but through a paranoid fit of jealousy he conspires with Iago to kill his wife and her thought to be lover Cassio. While it is clear that the theme of Othello is jealousy, the green eyed monster , Othello never has solid proof of the affair. Most of the evidence is circumstantial, but word of mouth through Iago coupled with Othello s extreme jealousy pushes him to desire to murder his wife Desdemona and close friend Cassio. Most Efficient Method Of Quantifying Radioactive Strontium Summary This report, Most Efficient Method of Quantifying Radioactive Strontium , determines what the most efficient method is for quantifying radioactive strontium when analyzing samples for radioisotopes of strontium, specifically Sr 89 and Sr 90. The analysis was performed from information collected by studying journal articles, recalling personal experiences at work, and reading textbooks about the different types of particle detectors. Information collected from the referenced sources and personal experience show that the Cherenkov counting method is the most efficient method for Sr 89 determination and the proportional counting method is the most efficient method for Sr 90 determination. The report finds that proportional counting is the best method for Sr 90 determination, Cherenkov counting is the best method for Sr 89 determination and a method that incorporates different detectors is the most efficient method. It is recommended for an analytical laboratory to always first use Cherenkov counting or proportional counting for strontium analysis. Persecution In The Passage Of Persecution Hebrews 10:33,34 states Sometimes you were exposed to public ridicule and were beaten, and sometimes you helped others who were suffering the same things. You suffered along with those who were thrown into jail, and when all you owned was taken from you, you accepted it with joy. You knew there were better things waiting for you that will last forever (NLT). Whomever the author could be for it is unknown to those reminds the Hebrew Christians that they have once faced persecution before. Being persecuted for living a life of Christ instead of self, may bring pain and sorrow upon Christians. For Christ, endured pain and sorrow on the way toward to the cross or his earthly death. The author goes on to say that those that have been persecuted greater things were to come their way. All they had to do was remain faithful to Godand God would be faithful to them. Those who are studying this passage of scripture must know that they too will be tested or persecuted in their faith walk, must know that God is on their side. The persecutions will bring about trust, strength, and patience. The issues that come with persecution in this passage of scripture is that Christians does not have to do anything wrong or sin against God, just claiming to be a child of God only brings about persecution. While many vocations contain some of the characteristics of professional, a lot of careers do not include all of the elements necessary to distinguish themselves as being as close to a professional as a United States soldier. Soldiers must be committed to justice in the performance of their official duties. Decisions must not be arbitrary, capricious, or biased. Individuals must be treated equally and with tolerance. Caring. Compassion is an essential element of good government. Courtesy and kindness, both to those we serve and to those we work with, help to ensure individuals are not treated solely as a means to an end. Caring for others is the counterbalance against the temptation to pursue the mission at any cost. Respect. To treat people with dignity, to honor privacy, and to allow self determination are critical in a government of diverse people. Lack of respect leads to a breakdown of loyalty and honesty within a government and brings chaos to the international community. Promisekeeping. No government can function for long if its commitments are not kept. Soldiers are obligated to keep their promises in order to promote trust and cooperation. Because of the importance of promisekeeping, leaders must only make commitments within their authority. Professionalism is a subject that is near and dear to my heart. Professionalism is important for all of us who are part of the military institution in both active and Reserve components. It is important for all of us who love and respect the Army. And by the merger these could also have been saved. Here, the merger is suggested as the best solution because it has more advantages than the disadvantages. As another solution, we can also see towards a scenario in which BSB could use the more sophisticated technology but with less cost and with less other costs like depreciation, sub managing, satellites, advertising etc. and this all would be possible only if it had the good management like its competitor, and BSB could have changed wholly the nature of interaction if it had created some obstacles in the launch of the Sky Television. But when we come to its after effects we see that there shall be definitely a reaction caused by prevention of launching by the Sky Television and whereby the strict cold war between them could get a start that would not be viable for both of the powers. In 1990, BSB was enjoying the great market share but this all got tainted with the sudden arrival of the Sky Television in the market. Moreover, Veronica Roth has written a novel called Divergent. The novel takes place in a world composed of the ideology of identity where each person is divided into factions , places that tell how they think and behave. All things considered, the story identifies many components of self identity and symbolises it into a new take on how the human perceives individuality. Likewise, humanity can find themselves like Tris, where she is baptised with dangerous and unexpected titles in Divergent. The term Divergent is an impact of the life of the society in the novel. Divergents are described to be people with a diverse set of emotions, possibly bring unbalance to their orderly utopia. Tris never expected to be Divergent. However, she represents how human beings usually cope when faced with a disorderly circumstance. She describes her trait of diversity as if ‒someone breathed new air into my lungs. (Roth 442) Insignificance, acceptance is a huge step to recognising self identity. Tris has learned to define herself according to one of her most doubted moral. For instance, it was a huge breath for her to fully embrace her Divergent mind. Similarly, men and women can learn from this as a life lesson as the unexpected can be the most beneficial on how they perceive themselves. Nevertheless, Tris also relies on the brave and selfish persona as a Dauntless initiate. Despite lived in a brave new world of adventure she realises the true definition of her bravery and bravery among others. Beforehand, Tris used to live in a complete opposite of dauntless where those dwelling lived upon pillars of selflessness. In a mature talk with Four about her experience in Dauntless, she states ‒that selfishness and bravery aren t all that different. (Roth 336) Even when traits have a reasonable contrast, those opposite contracts. For instance, Tris finds similarity between a discrepancy. Thus, it symbolises that believing that each emotion of one s life builds upon each other creates a personality that can overcome the greatest of odds. In her time in Dauntless, Tris creates a friendship among many people, especially Christina. Christina was known as Tris first actual friend, due to the boundaries in Abnegation, her last faction. The home team wins the race and passes the ball to their teammate. They settle the ball, gather their footing, and kick the ball at the goal. The goalie dives and misses the ball as it hits the back of the net. The team rushes toward each other celebrating the goal with a team hug. Club sports are just as entertaining as varsity sports yet most people don t see it this way. This is only one of the multiple differences between varsity and club soccer. Most varsity athletes take for granted their trainer access and preferential treatment. Yet participants in club sports are not even allowed to talk to a trainer or use the school vans... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are multiple vans sitting out in the South Parking Lot, that hardly ever get used. There is no reason why the Athletic Department can t let us use those buses to drive ourselves to games. They don t need to pay a driver, we can drive ourselves to save money. This is an easy fix and would make traveling for club teams much easier. It would also eliminate the chances of getting separated and lost. The Athletic Department may object to this solution because, it is a liability to the school and will cost the school gas money. However, club soccer fundraises for uniforms, therefore we could also fundraise a little extra money to fill up the gas tanks for the buses. They could also make club athletes fill out liability forms, like going on a field trip in high school, that says the school is not liable for anything that happens. Field space is limited and this makes it difficult for both varsity and club to find space and time to practice. Take soccer for example. There are three grass soccer fields available to play on. However, one is called Melucci Stadium and is used strictly for games and is off limits for practices. Now we are down to two fields, neither of which have lights. This makes a difference because both varsity soccer teams have a field from four to six. Now where does that leave club soccer? Well, they let us have the fields from six to eight, yet around ... Benefits Of Keeping Marine Animals In Zoos Keeping marine mammals and fish in aquariums in zoos is stressful for the fish; marine mammals and fish can thrive in captivity, but they can only do so under safe and secure conditions. These mammals should be kept in marine sanctuaries. Marine sanctuaries are a portion of the ocean where the government controls the activity and interference of humans. These sanctuaries are designed for scientific research and recreation. Fish and marine mammals are not meant to be confined to a small and unhappy environment, where humans enjoy staring at the fish s home. The Humane Society of the United Statesexplains their opinion in their article, Keeping Marine Mammals in Captivity is Cruel Exploitation that keeping these wild mammals is wrong and only for the public s amusement. The Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums believes that keeping these marine mammals in zoos benefits the health of the fish and educates the public. The Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums makes sure education is the top priority of every worker; they rescue, rehabilitate, and release marine mammals and fish that are abandoned and helpless. Their main goal is to educate the public about their work and to hopefully release the fish back into its home in the ocean. Unfortunately, some of the marine mammals and fish are too frail and weak to be released back into the ocean.
