Peer Interview
Much More Than Just a Degree Cal State Los Angeles receives many incoming freshmen each year
and each student comes from a different background. All scholars who decide to continue their
education have struggles and motivations that have affected their achievements. Through a peer
interview that was required in my English class, I had the opportunity to learn one of my classmates
attitude towards his goals, education, and his past struggles that has motivated him to keep moving
forward. I was paired with Adrian Cardenas; he has braces which made him look young overall his
appearance looked young . He has light brown skin, light brown eyes, brown hair and is Hispanic. He

The Apache Indians Long And Proud Culture Essay
The First Americans
As we know, the first people to inhabit the United States were not the Europeans, but instead the
Native Americans. Part of our great nation s history involves a history that is not always so great. Our
country has endured many wars, struggles, economic and agricultural hardship and a history that many
would call shameful. However, the United States has evolved over hundreds of years and has
transcended its very existence and influenced every corner of the globe, because of those past
hardships our country has grown into what has become the most diverse, opportunistic and free
country the world has ever known. In this essay, I will discuss the Apache Indians long and proud
culture in conjunction with their own personal struggles as a Native American tribe in North America.
Apache Indians are dated back to 850 A.D. when they traveled south from Alaska and Canada, they
continued their southern descent until they eventually settled throughout regions in the southwestern
parts of the United States. Their first original settlements included areas in northern Mexico, Texas,
New Mexico, Arizona and southern Colorado. Today the Apache live on reservations on some four
and a half million acres of land that are spread across Arizona, New Mexico and Oklahoma. Within
the Apache tribe there are ten subgroups, one of which is closely related to the Apache and share the
same dialect, but has recently become its own tribe known as the Navajo. The other nine groups

Postpartum Depression In Women
Postpartum depression is a mood disorder in females that is known to be present within the 4 to 6
weeks after childbirth (Battle et al). This condition is the most common complication after childbirth
(Mosses Kolko et al.,2009).Studies have shown predictors which lead to postpartum depression such
as maternal childhood maltreatment and lifetime posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)in pregnancy
(Seng 2013).A variety of factors exist among certain subgroups of women that may lead to postpartum
depression. Postpartum depression affects approximately one out of eight of the more than four
million women who give birth in the United States every year (Kruse et al. 2013a). The estimation of

By identifying women at high risk then they can receive early interventions. Many of the risk factors
can be present during the pregnancy or during postpartum period (Mallikarjum 2005).
Postpartum depression has some risk factor, and a study showed that a poor sleep during the third
trimester of pregnancy is a risk factor for postpartum depression, which is related with the age of the
women (Wu 2014).Furthermore, Jomeen and Martin also found that during pregnancy the first three
trimester are very important because according to the PSQI test poor sleep increase the symptoms of
postpartum depression(2007).Also, another study showed that poor sleep habit has a stronger
correlation with depressive symptoms (Goyal 2009). Additionally, women who had a history of
previously depression are more likely to have postpartum depression (Kettunen 2014). This depression
is a concern because women with postpartum depression show less early interactions with their infants
than women who are not depressed (Field 2010). Under these circumstances postpartum depression

Woolworths Case Study
Woolworths Case Analysis

BACKGROUND OF WOOLWORTHS
Woolworths began life in what had been the dining room of the old Royal Hotel in Cape Town on a
sunny October morning in 1931 as a clothing store and was founded by Max Sonnenberg.
In 1934 Woolworths opened a second branch in Durban, followed in 1935 by branches in Port
Elizabeth and Johannesburg. Shareholders who bought Woolworths stock in 1936 at 75c a share would
have seen that stock grow to many, many times its original price as the Woolworths brand has become
an entrenched icon in South African retail. Since 1936 the product range had expanded from clothing
and shoes to include food, cosmetics, gift items, accessories, mobile phones, an extensive range of ...

All of these clothing stores cater for more or less the same target market whereas Woolworths and
Edgars have more adolescent ranges. In terms of price they Woolworths would compete with stores
like Foschini and Truworths.
In the food industry Woolworths focus on having quality food everyday and all the time. They are
known for their fresh produce and pride themselves on their cold chain concept where food is always
stored between 5 and 0 degrees Celsius. They typically compete against supermarkets such as
Shoprite, Spar and Pick n Pay obviously has a wider variety of groceries.
Woolworths also has a coffee shop in certain store outlets where they use products from their food
market to prepare the meals. They would obviously compete against nearby restaurants in the
shopping centre and in the nearby area.
PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH THE DIFFERENT WOOLWORTHS STORES
I frequently visit the Woolworths branches located in Paarl, Tygervalley and Eikestad Mall. All of
them contains a food market, but only Paarl mall contains a coffee shop.
All though the layout of the stores are pretty much the same, female wear on the left, male on the right
shoes and accessories in the middle and the food store and coffee shop is located at the back, they all
differ in the unique way the store owner wants them to.
The variety and assortment in merchandise also differs. Seeing that Tygervalley s branch is the biggest

Stigma Is An Interesting Concept In Social Psychology Because
Stigma is an interesting concept in social psychology because it not only studies the experience of
marginalized people (who already do not receive enough attention in science) but dissects the inner
workings of power imbalances, internal dynamics, and interpersonal conflicts. Arguably the most
important foundational text in stigma research, across all disciplines, is Goffman s Notes on the
Management of Spoiled Identity. Goffman s perspective and definition of stigma has been revised
many times since its publication, but it remains one of the most influential works in the field. Goffman
suggests that stigma is an attribute which sets an individual apart from others in a negative way, which
leads to social outcasting or unacceptability. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Socially, stigmatized individuals are usually met with opposition from normal people there is a severe
lack of acceptance and alienation that result from stigma, and with these also comes discrimination.
Goffman notes that even within the first few minutes of a conversation, a normal person can find fault
in stigmatized individuals and entirely shift the tone of the encounter. However, Goffman makes sure
to note that stigmatization isn t always a bad thing. Outgroup perceptions and prejudice are definitely
detrimental, but stigmatized individuals are often able to form an identity around their stigma or at
least positively integrate it into their self concept. As a result, stigmatized people may be able to find
support in people with a similar stigma, and can also accept their blemishes. Some, Goffman says,
insist that their socially undesirable attributes are actually a blessing in disguise as it has changed their
world view or personality for the better. Other scholars have taken Goffman s work, which is truly a
foundational stigma text, and dissected and revised his conceptualization. For the purpose of this
paper, four articles by Link and Phelen (2001), Major, Kaiser and McCoy (2003), Chen and Bargh
(1997), and Scott (1997), will be discussed in the context of Goffman s work. These texts are
especially important because they all build on one another and consistently link back to prior
concepts. Each text is able to redesign the

Should People Avoid Participation Continue To Hand Out...
Betty Barden once said When awards are handed out like candy to every child who participates, they
diminish in value. Every kid has gotten a participation trophy at some point, or a medal, or even a slip
of paper saying You did it! But after sometime, those awards become meaningless. It s an award
showing that someone participated in something. Does every olympian get a gold medal? If everyone
continues to hand out awards for just showing up, no one will ever have to work for anything. People
will expect rewards, good grades, or even trophies to just be handed to them. Participation trophies
should be given out very carefully and with great caution.
People hand out trophies all the time, right? If people continue to hand out trophies like candy, they
become meaningless. We begin to expect awards and praise just for showing up to class, practice, after
school jobs leaving us woefully unprepared for reality (Berdan). If trophies are handed out for just

We need to worry that some of these critics are at least partially responsible for the numbers that show
group participation declining across the board. Instead of concerning ourselves with what our kids get
for participating (Priceman). Participation had decreased over the years. That does not mean that it s
critics fault. Participation might decrease because the amount of video games, phone, tablets, etc.
People buy their children. If people continually hand out trophies just because someone showed up, no
one would attempt to succeed, It s through failure and mistakes that we learn the most (Merryman). If
trophies are given away for everything and anything, no one would have to train to win, or practice to
succeed. Everyone would be a winner. There would be no competition. Success will become
meaningless if everyone wins. There would be no definite winner. It would not be fair to those who
actually try to succeed, there would be no skill needed for

Why Nova Scotia Failed to Join the American Revolution
Abstract: This essay discusses why Nova Scotia failed to join the American Revolution. It discusses
the social, political, economic, geographic, as well as religious factors that led to Nova Scotians lack
of attachment to revolutionary ideology in the colonies.
During the time of the American Revolution, Nova Scotia was geographically on the northeastern
frontier of Massachusetts. No geographical feature separated Nova Scotia from Maine, which meant
that the Canadian province was very much a part of the Massachusetts colony. The question remains,
therefore, why Nova Scotia failed to join the American Revolution in 1776. There were, after all,
many new Englanders in Nova Scotia, and it remains a serious question as to why they did not ...

Indeed, while Nova Scotians were close to the events themselves, the settlements in Nova Scotia were
scattered along the edges of the long, narrow peninsula. The sea was the only road between
settlements. In many respects, therefore, there simply could not have been a united Nova Scotia.
Because of this fact, it made it difficult for Nova Scotia to join in the War for Independence. People
did not really feel united enough to have a serious cause. (Rawlyck, p.220)
Thus, though Nova Scotia was very much attached to Main and to the Massachusetts colony, the
geographical structure of the colony left Nova Scotia quite isolated from neighboring towns.
Meanwhile, the British controlled the North Atlantic. One cannot deny, therefore, a factor of
intimidation in this context, therefore, for even if some Nova Scotians did support the Yankees, they
felt the presence of British troops in Halifax. The colony was simply dominated by a strong British
military presence and a support for the Revolution would have sparked fear amongst any who
sympathized with it. (Brebner, p.261) Nova Scotians were well aware that there would be a military
confrontation with the British and no issue was really worth this danger.
In any case, even if Nova Scotians had wanted to participate in the Revolution, they did not really
have the military means to do so in any case. They were weak militarily and the strong British military
presence made it virtually impossible for any sort of

In this article, it will use the case of Singapore and Malaysia in studying how ASEAN solve

Singapore and Malaysia had always have a unique relations among them. This is due to factors such

Context In Norman Rockwell s Freedom Of Want
The context of an argument is the most crucial part as it shapes the main idea and the way it is
perceived. There four types of context to be addressed when evaluating an argument. These contexts
are historical, which is all about the time period and setting of the argument, physical, which is where
the argument was found and published, political, which is about who the author is, and social, which is
about the audience it is directed to. Norman Rockwell s painting of Freedom of Want was published
on March 6th, 1943 and a perfect example of how the context will shape the argument portrayed. The
following sources provide further clarification on how the context surrounding the painting expresses
Rockwell s vision of the ideal America more clearly.:

how comes about when people are free from wanting. Bulosan explains that Americas best version of

the American people are satisfied and healthy, Bulson says that is when people start to appreciate and

contained in water supplies. Prior to 1974, State health departments had the principal duty for
monitoring and regulating public consuming water substances. The U.S. Public health provider
supplied oversight till 1970. At that point, EPA assumed the federal regulatory position. Although, the
public health carrier issued protection standards in 1962, simply 14 States had followed them through

Stephen Crane Naturalism Essay
My interpretation of Crane s poem, the deeds people tell of war only tell that of the battles, the
hardship, no one hears about the angels on the battlefield or the interactions that happen outside of
battle. He sees the romantic view, and yet the naturalistic view at the same time. Though he leans
more in the direction of romanticism, he does include some naturalism in his writing. For example,
from The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane, he states, He developed the acute exacerbation of
a pestered animal, a well meaning cow worried by dogs. Represents a naturalistic state of mind, but
nevertheless, he mostly relies on romanticism. Naturalism, nature doesn t care. It s every animal for
themselves. As for the Romantic side of things, from The Veteran by Stephen Crane, he writes, When
the roof fell in, a great funnel of smoke swarmed toward the sky, as if the old man s mighty spirit,
released from its body a little bottle had swelled like the genie of fable. ... Show more content on

romantics view everything in that way. Another Romantic statement from The Red Badge of Courage,

Argumentative Essay On Health And Social Care
In a world of unequal capabilities, there is the need to be each other s keeper by helping lift up the less
fortunate. There are countries around the world where some children have neither a decent place to
sleep nor call a home, and some families must go hungry for days because they can not afford a meal.
Unfortunately, this is true for some citizens of this great United States of America. In the absence of a
social safety net to help catch those members of the society who find themselves trapped in very hard
circumstances, our streets may fill up with more homeless citizens, and we may see death from
starvation. A social welfare system capable of providing the resources needed to lift the less fortunate

Analysis Of `` Sapphire s Novel `` Push ``
Sapphire uses language to control how readers react the her novel Push, she attempts to impose
feelings of anger, helplessness, and hope onto her readers. The story follows Precious through two
years of her life, during which she experience all the emotions that Sapphire imposes on the reader.
This is to make readers empathize with Precious. Sapphire carefully chooses her words, using
specially chosen phrases at certain integral points in the novel. By doing so, she gives each word
significant meaning. Her language usage emphasizes Precious intelligence, something that is
continually questioned throughout the novel. Precious is often reduced to a stereotype by her mother

Precious still believes in love and home, though it is possible that she has never been shown love, and
may have never felt as though she had a home. She knows what love is, and that she feels it for her
child. Precious has not let her circumstances dictate her future, she is refusing to become just another
stereotype. Sapphire illustrates this conviction by the line [l]isten baby, Muver love you. Muver not
dumb (Sapphire 66). Given that fuck is the only word spelled correctly in Precious alphabet, it most
likely has an important meaning in her life. Fuck, as an adjective is usually used to express strong,
often negative, emotion. Precious uses it frequently throughout both the narrative and her journal
entries, it is reasonable to assume she cannot easily express her emotions, and therefore resorts to
profanities. Fuck is not a word usually taught in school, and it is unlikely that Precious parents taught
her how to spell much of anything; therefore Precious most likely learned how to spell the word from
graffiti, which further illustrates the conditions in which Precious grew up. Even though she has
spelled nothing else in her alphabet correctly, Precious knows how to spell fuck and how to use it
correctly in all matters of speech. Sapphire uses fuck to demonstrate Precious internalized negative
emotions. Using fuck as a verb indicates the act of having sex, though it is being expressed in a lewd
manner. To say fucking rather

The Importance Of Writing In Writing
Writing from sources is very important for academic inquiry. It plays an important role in publication
as well. Writing from the sources in introductory writing sources devoted to research writing, critical
thinking, analysis, and argument. Writing from sources made people to write some valuable research
on summary. Students have to be sure that they are using the right sources, and they are understanding
the material. The main reason for patch writing on papers is that students do not understand the
material. Students have to understand the subject to be able to write a good summary and analysis.
Students usually patch writing on papers when they don t understand the material. I used to do the
same thing when I couldn t understand the subject. Analyzing the material and trying to avoid
becoming confused by data smog, can help students to avoid patch writing.
According to Howard (1993), we define patchwriting as reproducing source language with some
words deleted or added, some grammatical structures altered, or some synonyms used .Patchwriting is
when students use the source language with some words deleted or added. The grammatical
instruction and language is the same. They just exchange some words to their synonyms. Patchwriting
can be considered plagiarism. If students understand the material, they do not need to use the
patchwriting. They can start writing the summary or analysis by using their own vocabulary.
Patchwriting make the readers very confused because they

The Heating Phases That Occurred During The Experiment Essay
1. Figure 1 shows the heating phases that occurred during the experiment. There is an exponential
decrease in temperature as the depth of the water increases. Water has a high specific heat capacity
which means that it can resist changes in temperature. This is coupled with the fact that solar radiation
progressively loses its penetrative ability as the depth of the water increases. The light attenuation in
lakes describes the decrease in actual light that can penetrate a water column as well as the fact that
most of the energy that the light has is absorbed by the surface of the water.
2. The end of step 4 during the experiment creates the tripartite thermal structure within the lake
substitute. This is composed of three parts called the epilimnion, the thermocline and the hypolimnion.
The epilimnion represents the surface of the lake which experiences the most heat during the summer
and has the highest temperature compared to the other parts of the thermal structure. The thermocline
is the section of water that has the large exponential decrease in temperature. This is shown in figure 1
at the end of the heating phase, the temperature decreases by a large amount as the depth increases
from 1cm to 9cm. Finally there is the hypolimnion which is shown in figure 1 in all phases as the cold
part of the water column. This is the most unaffected part, as the solar radiation does not effectively
penetrate that deep into the water hence the temperature stays almost constant. The

anyone who has high blood pressure. Thiazide diuretics is one of the medication treatment option. The
side effects include dizziness and lightheadedness, blurred vision, loss of appetite, itching, stomach
upset, headache, and weakness. Thiazide diuretics works by changing the reabsorption of sodium in
the kidneys, leading to more fluid being produced from the body into the urine. They also have an
effect on the surrounding muscles in the blood vessels, causing the muscles to relax and allow blood

As a conclusion, blood vessels may relax and open up which makes it easier for blood to flow through
the vessels so in this event it can reduce the blood pressure. Renin inhibitors contributes to another
medication to balance hypertension. The side effects to Renin inhibitors is dizziness, headache,
diarrhea, and stuffy nose. As a result of direct renin inhibitors which help the regulation of blood
pressure, blood vessels relax and widen, making it easier for blood to flow through the vessels, which
also lowers blood pressure. Direct renin inhibitors, angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors,
and angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) all help the same process that narrows blood vessels, but
each type of medicine blocks a different part of the process. Calcium channel blockers is another
medication treatment option. The side effects of this medication is lightheadedness, low blood
pressure, slower heart rate, drowsiness, constipation, swelling of feet, ankles and legs, increased

All real estate is local as the old saying goes, but buyers are not! In today s internet times you can sell
goods, services and real estate to anybody in the world without borders. The 2016 report of the
National Association of Realtors (U.S.) states that over the 12 month period the foreign buyers

Well, very often it is really not enough and the reasons are plenty: Your local real estate market is
weak and the local buyers are not active at all while you have to sell fast and not on the cheap; or the
local market is more or less balanced, but you feel that you can t get the price you want anyway; or
your property for sale might have a much greater appeal to a foreign buyer from a particular country
as for a local one and you may very well benefit from this situation as a private seller or realtor or
developer.
Some real estate sellers believe that taking the usual approach to marketing properties for sale in the
comfort of their own language, media and cultural environment is just enough and the foreign buyers
can find them anyway if they wish. Yes, it is possible to get one or two international inquirers this
way, but the number of the prospective buyers will be in no comparison if using the methods of your
property promotion to the foreign markets specifically.
The E series How to Beat Your Competition Selling Real Estate to Foreign Buyers is based on the
author s personal experience with marketing international real estate from all over the world to the
foreign Russian speaking buyers (directly to the buying public and through Russian speaking realtors)
and her extensive research in the other foreign nation s buying markets (like Chinese who are the hot
topic in all the media).

Intentions Leads To Happiness In Wuthering Heights, By...
Happiness is a very elusive and subjective thing. In general, the intentions behind our actions can lead
to happiness, or they may not. Authors usually write about the intentions of character s actions, so then
the effect that the actions have on their happiness can easily be linked to their intentions. Many books
over many genres have been written about one of the primary questions of happiness: do good
intentions lead to happiness? In some novels, purely good intentions and bad intentions can lead to
distress and unhappiness. In others, happiness is brought upon by good intent. In the novels The
Awakening by Kate Chopin, 1984 by George Orwell, Atonement by Ian McEwan, and Wuthering

The best of good intentions and things done from habit do not necessarily lead to happiness. People
throughout history have always bought things with the intention of making themselves happy, only to
regret it later. The British Chamber of Commerce in Singapore explains this by saying that, ... brands
that make people happy at the point of usage rather than at the point of purchase are more likely to be
anticipated by consumers to be bought again (Schofield 1). The customers who buy the brand to make
them happy at the point of purchase have a good intent, they just want to make themselves happy.
Even though these consumers have a good intent, they tend to be less satisfied than those with the
intent of instant gratification. Though this intention is good it does not lead to long term happiness.
The intentions behind things other than shopping also may be good and not yield good results. In Ian
McEwan s Atonement, Briony has good intentions toward Cecilia and Robbie when apologizing to
them but she notes, It sounded so foolish and inadequate, as though she had knocked over a favorite
houseplant, or forgotten a birthday (McEwan 329). Briony s apology to Robbie and Cecilia was very
heartfelt and had good intentions but it did not bring Briony peace or happiness. This apology never

The British Aero Engine Manufacturer
Introduction
Rolls Royce Limited is the British aero engine manufacturer. Its main export of jet engines remained
40% of total sales to U.S. market. Due that the global market of the engines was dominated by two
U.S. companies called Pratt and Whitney Aircraft Group and General Electric s aerospace division,
Rolls Royce had to deal with any oversea contracts which were fixed in dollar terms. On the other
hand, Rolls Royce s operating costs were arisen in sterling. Therefore, Rolls Royce had to price its
products in U.S. dollar and calculate its cost in GBP. Unfortunately a continued weakness of the U.S.
dollar resulted that Rolls Royce suffered a heavy loss of their profit from its annual report in 1979.
Besides, the company won some engine contracts in 1978 and 1979, but no doubt they were priced in
U.S. dollar. Hence, under the market condition, whether U.S. dollar was depreciation or appreciation,
it would dramatically affect Rolls Royce s profit in certain period of time.
1. Key factors about the economic impact of exchange rate fluctuation
Under a stronger value currency, a country s export goods will become more expensive, but its import
goods will be cheaper when trading in domestic markets. In contrast, under a weaker value currency,
the goods which are exported will become cheaper, and the goods imported will be expensive. From
the case, as the British aero engine manufacturer, Rolls Royce does business with American air
frames. Due that U.S. dominance in civil

Essay On Crebrovascular Accident
A cerebrovascular accident (CVA) is the death of brain cells due to a lack of oxygen. The brain can be
deprived oxygen either by a blockage such as a blood clot, or the rupturing of an artery. A lack of
oxygen to the brain is very dangerous and can be deadly. A hospital in Philadelphia treated 700
children in a four year timespan, and out of these 700 children, 26 suffered cerebrovascular accidents.
Research also showed that out of the 26 pediatric patients who suffered cerebrovascular accidents, 17
had a lymphoreticular malignancy, and nine had a solid tumor. There were several factors that seemed
to have a direct link to the cerebrovascular accident/stroke that these children suffered. Some of these

cerebrovascular accidents do occur in children with cancer, it s not a large percentage and probably

was suffering from cancer. There is not enough information to determine if all factors are truly
responsible for the cerebrovascular accidents, however I do believe the link between the

London Fog Annotated Bibliography
Annotated Bibliography Brimblecombe, P. (1981). Long term trends in London fog. The Science of
The Total Environment Online, 22(1), 19 29. doi:10.1016/0048 9697(81)90078 4 This article analyzes
the overall pattern of London fog mainly from 1700s to 1900s by collecting non instrumental data,
that was based on the observations of a group of observers. Four distinctive characteristics are
discussed. London fogs followed a periodic pattern throughout centuries, fogs are more frequent on
Sundays, the seasonal distribution of fog, and finally possible origins of the color of the fog are also
proposed. Brimblecombe was also able to deduct several possible causes of such phenomena, climate
change and change in urban meteorology specifically the increasing density of coal consumption. The
fact that fog observation cannot be used as an estimate of air pollution. By tracing the long term
pattern of London fog, a conclusion can be made, the Great Smog of London is not a spontaneous

burning to minimize the air pollution by removing the harmful chemicals in coal, however, the
implantation of an industrial biodesulphurization technology still faces a lot of obstacles and

Discovery Process In Tim Winton s Neighbours
The related text Neighbours by Tim Winton follows a young Australian couple s discovery process as
they move into a new multicultural neighbourhood. Through the notion of rediscovering something
that was once lost or concealed, new perceptions and understanding arise challenging the individual
preconceptions, which in turn cause new emotional connections to be formed. When individuals
search for a new experience, they may uncover ideas or objects that were thought to be lost through
which the individual may review the past or see it in a new light and discover unexpected concepts
and understanding. Shakespeare explores this in The Tempest, through Prospero s rediscovery of
humanity. This rediscovery is initiated in Act 5 after Prospero confronts

SWOT Analysis
In order to know my position in the industry and the viability of my chosen profession, A SWOT
Analysis has been initiated taking into consideration the legal, social, economic and technological
aspects of business.
Becoming an accountant requires having the appropriate degree and passing the licensure
examination. The educational requirement, as well as the number of hours in apprenticeship is
necessary before one can rightfully be called an accountant. A mere graduate of the profession would
not constitute to automatic nomination into the league or associations of accountant. As an
international student, in order to work in the US one must secure a working permit. This is one of the
requirements in working in the US. Usually, if an individual enter the US in a student visa then that
individual is required by law to return to his or her country of origin. However, if an opportunity of
employment is opened or extended to this individual, the employer would fix all the necessary
documents to arrange for the individual s working visa and permits.
Although protected by law, discrimination and prejudice still exist in the US and this is one of the
identified threats which might deter a person qualified or otherwise to seek employment from a
reputable company. Language barrier is also a problem that is seen as a weakness and a threat at the
same time. Foreign nationals who have been to the US for a limited time may not necessarily

In the twentieth century, the art technique that was being used is abstraction. Abstract art can either be
a sculpture or painting that is put together. The art piece is a bit exaggerated, inaccurate and the
audience can t really point out if it s a person, place or thing. The purpose of this art style was for the
artists to showcase what they think is pure art. Three known artist in the 20th century were Wassily
Kandinsky, Kazimir Malevich, Jackson Pollock. They re all abstract artists that have their own unique
style.

became an artist because it helped him be lifted out of the reality. (The Biography). His well known
piece is the Composition VII. This art piece revolved around form and color. The Wassily Kandinsky s
purpose was to capture the attention of the viewer visually and emotionally. This was one of his most
complex piece due to many distorted shapes and color combinations. Second artist is Kazimir

Impact Of Civil Disobedience
Peaceful resistance to laws positively impacts a free society because it empowers the people to speak
out, it serves as a reminder that government is in the hands of the citizens, and it is the courageous
way to publicize one s opinion without violence. The evidence of the positive impact of Civil
Disobedience is deep in the roots of American History, written on the sweaty brows of the feather
bedecked Patriots hoisting tea overboard in Boston; and sung in notes of the song, We Shall Overcome
, by protesters being beaten and arrested at Selma. The very founding of America was an act of Civil
Disobedience, as our forefathers penned the Declaration of Independence, defying Britain s law and
control. Over and over throughout history, groups have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the people, and the public statement it would make. Despite all the injustice he had endured, he still
advocated non violence; even when disobeying the law he stated that one must do so openly, lovingly,
and with a willingness to accept the penalty . His patient persistence eventually made change possible,

More Than A Carpenter Summary
More than a Carpenter is written by two men whose names are Josh and Sean McDowell.
First and foremost the beginning chapter, the book speaks of their experience and what lead them to a
search of happiness and meaning in life. During this search, his friend issued him a challenge to
research accurate and logical claims of Jesus Christ proving that he is God s son. Proving that he
occupied a human body living amongst men and women and he died on the cross for the sins of
humanity as well as being buried and resurrected three days later. Overall this book discusses the
answers to the questions many have on the hunt for happiness: Who am I? What is my purpose? What
is my destiny? Chapter two discusses what makes Jesus so different and what makes people
uncomfortable making him the topic of conversation. McDowell happened to run across the actual
meaning of the name Jesus Christ or as some may refer to the deity of Christ. The name Jesus was
derived from the Greek name Jeshua or Joshua meaning Jehoviah Savior or the lord saves. Christ is
also from the Greek language meaning Messiah or Mashiach from the Hebrew language which stands
for the anointed one. Chapter three had an interesting title labeled Lord, Liar, or ... Show more content

theory is explained to be Peter, John, and Mary Magdalene supposedly went to a tomb other than the
one Jesus was buried in and mistakenly believed he rose from the dead. The stolen body, the
hallucination, the swoon, and the hypnosis are a few more theories chatted about throughout the
chapter. Overall the book explained that Christianity is not a religion, an ethical idea, nor a
psychological phenomenon. It is a person, Jesus Christ, who is in the business of changing

  • 3. The Apache Indians Long And Proud Culture Essay The First Americans As we know, the first people to inhabit the United States were not the Europeans, but instead the Native Americans. Part of our great nation s history involves a history that is not always so great. Our country has endured many wars, struggles, economic and agricultural hardship and a history that many would call shameful. However, the United States has evolved over hundreds of years and has transcended its very existence and influenced every corner of the globe, because of those past hardships our country has grown into what has become the most diverse, opportunistic and free country the world has ever known. In this essay, I will discuss the Apache Indians long and proud culture in conjunction with their own personal struggles as a Native American tribe in North America. Apache Indians are dated back to 850 A.D. when they traveled south from Alaska and Canada, they continued their southern descent until they eventually settled throughout regions in the southwestern parts of the United States. Their first original settlements included areas in northern Mexico, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and southern Colorado. Today the Apache live on reservations on some four and a half million acres of land that are spread across Arizona, New Mexico and Oklahoma. Within the Apache tribe there are ten subgroups, one of which is closely related to the Apache and share the same dialect, but has recently become its own tribe known as the Navajo. Shareholders who bought Woolworths stock in 1936 at 75c a share would have seen that stock grow to many, many times its original price as the Woolworths brand has become an entrenched icon in South African retail. • 10. Stigma Is An Interesting Concept In Social Psychology Because Stigma is an interesting concept in social psychology because it not only studies the experience of marginalized people (who already do not receive enough attention in science) but dissects the inner workings of power imbalances, internal dynamics, and interpersonal conflicts. Arguably the most important foundational text in stigma research, across all disciplines, is Goffman s Notes on the Management of Spoiled Identity. Goffman s perspective and definition of stigma has been revised many times since its publication, but it remains one of the most influential works in the field. Goffman suggests that stigma is an attribute which sets an individual apart from others in a negative way, which leads to social outcasting or unacceptability. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Socially, stigmatized individuals are usually met with opposition from normal people there is a severe lack of acceptance and alienation that result from stigma, and with these also comes discrimination. Goffman notes that even within the first few minutes of a conversation, a normal person can find fault in stigmatized individuals and entirely shift the tone of the encounter. However, Goffman makes sure to note that stigmatization isn t always a bad thing. Outgroup perceptions and prejudice are definitely detrimental, but stigmatized individuals are often able to form an identity around their stigma or at least positively integrate it into their self concept. As a result, stigmatized people may be able to find support in people with a similar stigma, and can also accept their blemishes. Some, Goffman says, insist that their socially undesirable attributes are actually a blessing in disguise as it has changed their world view or personality for the better. Other scholars have taken Goffman s work, which is truly a foundational stigma text, and dissected and revised his conceptualization. For the purpose of this paper, four articles by Link and Phelen (2001), Major, Kaiser and McCoy (2003), Chen and Bargh (1997), and Scott (1997), will be discussed in the context of Goffman s work. These texts are especially important because they all build on one another and consistently link back to prior concepts. Each text is able to redesign the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Should People Avoid Participation Continue To Hand Out... Betty Barden once said When awards are handed out like candy to every child who participates, they diminish in value. Every kid has gotten a participation trophy at some point, or a medal, or even a slip of paper saying You did it! But after sometime, those awards become meaningless. It s an award showing that someone participated in something. Does every olympian get a gold medal? If everyone continues to hand out awards for just showing up, no one will ever have to work for anything. People will expect rewards, good grades, or even trophies to just be handed to them. Participation trophies should be given out very carefully and with great caution. People hand out trophies all the time, right? • 13. Why Nova Scotia Failed to Join the American Revolution Abstract: This essay discusses why Nova Scotia failed to join the American Revolution. It discusses the social, political, economic, geographic, as well as religious factors that led to Nova Scotians lack of attachment to revolutionary ideology in the colonies. During the time of the American Revolution, Nova Scotia was geographically on the northeastern frontier of Massachusetts. No geographical feature separated Nova Scotia from Maine, which meant that the Canadian province was very much a part of the Massachusetts colony. The question remains, therefore, why Nova Scotia failed to join the American Revolution in 1776. There were, after all, many new Englanders in Nova Scotia, and it remains a serious question as to why they did not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Indeed, while Nova Scotians were close to the events themselves, the settlements in Nova Scotia were scattered along the edges of the long, narrow peninsula. The sea was the only road between settlements. In many respects, therefore, there simply could not have been a united Nova Scotia. Because of this fact, it made it difficult for Nova Scotia to join in the War for Independence. People did not really feel united enough to have a serious cause. (Rawlyck, p.220) Thus, though Nova Scotia was very much attached to Main and to the Massachusetts colony, the geographical structure of the colony left Nova Scotia quite isolated from neighboring towns. Meanwhile, the British controlled the North Atlantic. One cannot deny, therefore, a factor of intimidation in this context, therefore, for even if some Nova Scotians did support the Yankees, they felt the presence of British troops in Halifax. The colony was simply dominated by a strong British military presence and a support for the Revolution would have sparked fear amongst any who sympathized with it. (Brebner, p.261) Nova Scotians were well aware that there would be a military confrontation with the British and no issue was really worth this danger. In any case, even if Nova Scotians had wanted to participate in the Revolution, they did not really have the military means to do so in any case. • 19. Context In Norman Rockwell s Freedom Of Want The context of an argument is the most crucial part as it shapes the main idea and the way it is perceived. There four types of context to be addressed when evaluating an argument. These contexts are historical, which is all about the time period and setting of the argument, physical, which is where the argument was found and published, political, which is about who the author is, and social, which is about the audience it is directed to. Norman Rockwell s painting of Freedom of Want was published on March 6th, 1943 and a perfect example of how the context will shape the argument portrayed. The following sources provide further clarification on how the context surrounding the painting expresses Rockwell s vision of the ideal America more clearly.: Bulosan, Carlos. Freedom from Want. Bulosan explains that Americas best version of itself and when it thrives the most is when people are being satisfied with basic wants like food. When the American people are satisfied and healthy, Bulson says that is when people start to appreciate and connect with the freedom that is given to them. Stephen Crane Naturalism Essay My interpretation of Crane s poem, the deeds people tell of war only tell that of the battles, the hardship, no one hears about the angels on the battlefield or the interactions that happen outside of battle. He sees the romantic view, and yet the naturalistic view at the same time. Though he leans more in the direction of romanticism, he does include some naturalism in his writing. For example, from The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane, he states, He developed the acute exacerbation of a pestered animal, a well meaning cow worried by dogs. Represents a naturalistic state of mind, but nevertheless, he mostly relies on romanticism. Naturalism, nature doesn t care. It s every animal for themselves. • 30. The Heating Phases That Occurred During The Experiment Essay 1. Figure 1 shows the heating phases that occurred during the experiment. There is an exponential decrease in temperature as the depth of the water increases. Water has a high specific heat capacity which means that it can resist changes in temperature. This is coupled with the fact that solar radiation progressively loses its penetrative ability as the depth of the water increases. The light attenuation in lakes describes the decrease in actual light that can penetrate a water column as well as the fact that most of the energy that the light has is absorbed by the surface of the water. 2. The end of step 4 during the experiment creates the tripartite thermal structure within the lake substitute. This is composed of three parts called the epilimnion, the thermocline and the hypolimnion. The epilimnion represents the surface of the lake which experiences the most heat during the summer and has the highest temperature compared to the other parts of the thermal structure. The thermocline is the section of water that has the large exponential decrease in temperature. This is shown in figure 1 at the end of the heating phase, the temperature decreases by a large amount as the depth increases from 1cm to 9cm. Finally there is the hypolimnion which is shown in figure 1 in all phases as the cold part of the water column. This is the most unaffected part, as the solar radiation does not effectively penetrate that deep into the water hence the temperature stays almost constant. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many books over many genres have been written about one of the primary questions of happiness: do good intentions lead to happiness? In some novels, purely good intentions and bad intentions can lead to distress and unhappiness. In others, happiness is brought upon by good intent. Due that the global market of the engines was dominated by two U.S. companies called Pratt and Whitney Aircraft Group and General Electric s aerospace division, Rolls Royce had to deal with any oversea contracts which were fixed in dollar terms. On the other hand, Rolls Royce s operating costs were arisen in sterling. Therefore, Rolls Royce had to price its products in U.S. dollar and calculate its cost in GBP. Unfortunately a continued weakness of the U.S. dollar resulted that Rolls Royce suffered a heavy loss of their profit from its annual report in 1979. The brain can be deprived oxygen either by a blockage such as a blood clot, or the rupturing of an artery. A lack of oxygen to the brain is very dangerous and can be deadly. A hospital in Philadelphia treated 700 children in a four year timespan, and out of these 700 children, 26 suffered cerebrovascular accidents. Research also showed that out of the 26 pediatric patients who suffered cerebrovascular accidents, 17 had a lymphoreticular malignancy, and nine had a solid tumor. After reading the article it seems that although cerebrovascular accidents do occur in children with cancer, it s not a large percentage and probably not a huge concern to doctors. However, the number is still high enough to worry about if your child was suffering from cancer. There is not enough information to determine if all factors are truly responsible for the cerebrovascular accidents, however I do believe the link between the chemotherapy seems to be the strongest one since the pediatric patients died from a cerebrovascular accident while receiving their treatments. For this reason, I believe there should be more research to find out which chemotherapeutic drugs are more likely to cause a cerebrovascular accidents, and if anything can be done before the treatments begin to prevent the cerebrovascular accidents from ...
