Hate Crime
Hate Crime
The simplest definition of what a hate crime is, is a crime committed against a victim due to his or her
perceived role in a social group. Social groups can be defined by many factors such as sexual
orientation, race, disability, religion, age, gender and many other factors. Within this essay I aim to
evaluate the causes of hate crime and also to assess the impact of crime on victims and the strategies
used for responding to hate crime. The types of hate crime I am going to be focusing on are race,
sexual orientation and gender.
What is hate crime?
Defining hate crime has proven to be a difficult task, shown by the multiple academic and professional
definitions that exist. Barbara Perry (2001) suggests that as is the case ... Show more content on

How will we know if these actions truly constitute a hate crime? What crimes are we going to include
in our definition? Jacobs and Potter (1998: 27) suggest that how much hate crime there is and what the
appropriate response should be depends upon how hate crime is conceptualised and defined . So far I
have outlined a number of academic definitions of hate crime and also the implications of defining
such a crime. I am now going to describe the three types of hate crime I am focusing on which are
race, sexual orientation and gender.
Macpherson (1999) suggests that a racist incident is any incident which is perceived to be racist by the
victim or any other person . The Crime and Disorder Act (1998) state that a racial group refers to
persons defined by reference to their race, colour, nationality, or ethnic or national origins . The
figures for race related hate crimes taking place are at the highest with a staggering 43,426 people
involved in hate crime at the moment. Despite all the public awareness of hate crimes since Stephen
Lawrence s murder, racially motivated hate crime is still taking place and does not seem to be
decreasing. This brings me to question why figures are still rising despite law changes and public
awareness. Research shows that few criminals are being prosecuted for committing a hate crime.
Ministry of Justice (2008) in 2006 only 11,500 charges of racially aggravated offending were
prosecuted in England

As the number of customers decreased and the food sales experienced a significant drop at the second
quarter of 2015, the HR Director believed that a new training program is needed not only to generate
better income, but also to train employees in sales skills and increase motivation which can lead to a
higher retention rate. The new CEO in collaboration with the director of the HR Judy Brown decided
to develop a new training program.
2. Needs Assessment
A needs assessment is a process to determine if the training program is necessary to conduct and if a
designing plan can be completed in order to ensure that employees have the motivation to learn by
working in a positive a learning environment, where they can transfer the knowledge acquired by
choosing the best training technique. It is believed that the training offered by the HR Department is
not sufficient and BR Guest management team failed to train new employees adequately in various
positions like assistant managers, bussers, servers, hostess, or the kitchen staff. New employees

without having any additional informal or formal training. Servers or assistant managers who have

Real Women Have Curves Analysis
Ana Garcia, the protagonist of the film Real Women Have Curves, is a perfect example of the
contemporary Latina in the United States. She is an ideal illustration of the intersectionality between
race, culture, gender, and class. When deciding what she would do for her future, Ana had to choose
between her cultural values and mainstream expectations, between her Mexican heritage and her
American mindset. After deciding to continue her education at Columbia University, Ana holds a
feminist conference aiming to bring more attention to gender and race based discrimination within the
workplace and the unrealistic beauty standards set forth by society for women. These two issues are
particularly prevalent in the United States and have widespread effects, therefore Ana would primarily
focus on them. Both issues are applicable to Ana herself and could very easily have negative
repercussions on her own life.

Her Mexican background and female gender both carry negative connotations that can affect her
experiences within an occupation. In addition to herself, gender and race based discrimination affects
many people and so, by bringing attention to the issue, she and her fellow feminists could make an
enormous impact on the affected population women and people of color. At her conference, Ana,
Bose, and Whaley would propose introducing affirmative action legislation that would aid in
desegregating occupations, which would in turn, help reduce discriminatory treatment of workers.

The Characteristics Of A True Hero In Beowulf
Even though a hero is one who laughs in the presence of evil. One who is brave, confident, and always
is there for his people in there time of need. Beowulf, in my opinion, displayed a few of the
characteristics of a hero. True he was brave and adventurous, however, he was selfish because he did
all of his heroic events in order to show his greatness. For example, in the battle against Grendel, he
was willing to risk his life by fighting without weapons to show his might. A real hero would not
foolishly unarm himself only to prove his strength. Beowulf, however, did show great bravery and
good judgment during his battle against the dragon, even though it was there that he met his demise.
He rose to the challenge to protect his kingdom and did in fact, with a little help, do just that.Although
foolish, He never once feared for his life as was quick to take on any challenge. In conclusion, besides
his arrogance, Beowulf is a good example of a true hero. , Throughout Beowulf, Grendel is described
as mankind s enemy, and his attacks are driven by the jealousy that humans are able to enjoy life in the
light, and he is condemned to misery in the darkness. It s not just Grendel s ancestry that makes him
evil; Grendel s actions are evil as well. because I have wrested the hilt from the enemies hand,
avenged the evil done to the Danes; it is what was due. (1668 1670) The battle between good and evil
is a necessary part of Beowulf s life; it consists of fighting for

Case Study Onychotillomania
Onychotillomania is an obsessive compulsive disorder marked by the picking at or pulling out of one s
fingernails or toenails. There are many people who struggle with this condition, some extreme while
others experience very mild forms. In the more extreme forms people completely rip out their
fingernails and toenails from their fingers and toes. The more mild cases are people picking either at
the nail itself or the skin surrounding the nail. Onychotillomania falls in the same categories of other
picking disorders such as trichotillomania and dermatillomania. A case study conducted by Snorrason

after the pretreatment assessment of the frequency of skin picking, the participants in the HR group

nail picking, although at the three month follow up, many of the participants had relapsed, but one
participant reported that she had completely ceased her nail and skin picking and had not relapsed.
The study concluded that HR is effective while the treatment is occurring although after the end
relapse is common. That being said, the study only conducted a four week treatment, potentially a

patience to guide you in the right direction. It can be anyone a colleague, a friend who s beyond their

5. A Friend From a Different Culture
The last thing you want to be described as is someone who s stuck in their own ways. If everyone had
a friend from a different culture, the world would be a much better place. Being in a cross cultural
friendship allows you to explore customs, values, and traditions outside of your own culture.
Sometimes you might even adopt new ways to do things.
Be careful; don t befriend someone just because they re from a different culture. No one likes to be a
token friend. Instead, keep your mind open, and if you come across someone you click with who just
so happens to be from a different culture, make the effort to learn about their customs, values, and

A Brief Note On Transportation And Logistics Management
In the vast industry that is transportation and logistics management, has a lot of influence on the
economy of the United States. One of the reasons for the close connection of the industry and U.S
economy is because of globalization, and in the content of this paper we will examine different
segments of the industry, and how they affect the economy in different ways. Addressing specific
segments of the industry tells us just how important each segment is to the economy, instead of
speaking of the industry in general. Throughout this research paper we will be looking at five specific

many cities within the United States, creating a number of jobs because of the ability that airports

A way in which this is easily recognizable which way your relationship is between autonomy and
connectedness, Is whether the other person is saying I or is saying we . This tension happens often in
romantic relationships when one person wants to be with the other all the time, while the other feels
suffocated and has a need for individuality. Thus, too much integration comes with the loss of
autonomy and individuality, whereas extreme separation limits connection and can threaten the
relationship. (Sahlstein, E., Dun, T. 2008, p.37). Therefore either Autonomy or connectedness in a
relationship, too much of one or the either can issues emerge. A personal example of an experience

to high volumes of toxic gases that risked their lives. A combination of factors led to the fatal tragedy
that killed 29 employees and left two critically injured. The greatest failure emanated from the
managers since their project development skills were weak. The hiring of unskilled miners affected
the entire safety program since they could not use equipment as required. Even after receiving
complaints about excess toxic gases, the management invested in coal extraction rather than
safeguarding its employees. Various issues such as faulty ventilation, poor gas drainage systems, and
poor project development contributed to the four explosions. The Pike River Coal Mine faced
numerous complexities from its establishment. Firstly, it was constructed without the right engineering
knowledge. It is evident that the leaders sought cheap mechanisms that could save funds. However,
the management s ideas led to one of the biggest mine accidents in New Zealand. The lack of
concentrating on improving safety programs is a recipe for disaster as portrayed by the Pike River
accident. Adequate knowledge of skilled engineers should have been sought in the development of this
mine. The rights of employees in regards to workplace safety should also have been observed and
adhered to by the relevant

Emily Dickinson Nobodies
Argumentative Writing Assignment How dreary to be somebody... How public..., (Dickinson, stanza 1
2). In the eyes of Emily Dickinson, the writer of the cited quote, the majority of the population
embodies the distinct characteristics of what she refers to as a somebody in her poem, I m nobody!
Who are you? . Somebodies are individuals who when grouped together have few varying
characteristics between them. Though somebodies seemingly occupy most of the population, they are
countered by what Dickinson calls nobodies. Nobodies are characterized for being solitary and
introverted. These people do not need validation and are comfortable as they are. Though the traits
that nobodies tend to have can be positively connotated, in today s ... Show more content on

In her poem, Dickinson say, I m Nobody! Who are you? Are you Nobody too, (Dickinson, 1 2). While
reading the text, the audience can hear that the self proclaimed nobody in the poem seems to be
astonished that they have met another nobody. Like the Nobody in the poem, today s Nobodies,
characterized by being introverts who are comfortable being themselves, seldom meet other people
whose beliefs and ideals venture far from that of pop culture. Later in the text, Dickinson says, Don t
tell! They d advertise you know, (Dickinson, 4). From this quote, the reader can infer that when
Dickinson says they would advertise the they that she is speaking of are the somebodies. Because
somebodies are so plentiful and common they make up the traditional group and anyone whose
thinking contrast to that of the somebodies thinking is put under a spotlight. Because nobodies will
always be those who venture from the norms of society, they will always be those that are less
common because they have chosen to take the road less

Comparison Of Adam Bede And Goblin Market
Comparing George Eliot s Adam Bede and Christina Rossetti s Goblin Market
George Eliot s Adam Bede offers a realistic and highly detailed look into the everyday life of ordinary
people in rural Treddleston. Although the characters are fictional, several of them are based upon
people Eliot knew or knew of, which adds to the realism. As she delightedly observes and describes
the intricacies of the natural, ordinary world, Eliot pays attention to human nature, applying keen
psychological insight to characters thoughts, choices, and actions. Eliot seems to understand that
certain people are a certain way, and she encourages her reader to gently evaluate, rather than hastily
judge, both her characters and people in general. Within the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Eliot describes the problem with physical attractiveness, the kind that renders Hetty susceptible to
vanity, self centredness, and ultimately, poor choices. Beautiful, kitten like Hetty is so caught up in her
appearance and in the way she is certain others perceive her that she is barely affected by the serious
and often grave situations others are experiencing. In fact, after discovering that Adam s father had
died, Hetty was thinking a great deal more of the looks Captain Donnithorne had cast at her than of
Adam and his troubles (Eliot 96). It is not that Hetty is deliberately cruel or uncaring, but admiring
glances from a handsome young gentleman, with white hands...and wealth and grandeur
immeasurable...set poor Hetty s heart vibrating, and playing its little foolish tunes over and over again
(Eliot 96). Eliot, though clearly disapproving of Hetty s foolish vanity, nonetheless encourages her
reader to be understanding of the young girl. She directly addresses the reader as she accounts for
Hetty s self centredness:
We must learn to accommodate ourselves to the discovery that some of those commonly fashioned
instruments called human souls have only a very limited range of music, and will not vibrate in the
least under a touch that fills others with tremulous rapture or quivering agony. (Eliot 96)

Analysis Of I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings
Welcome, today we will be taken on a journey by deconstructing and analysing the poem I Know Why
the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou. This poem explores the theme of Oppression which
illustrates the nature of helicopter parenting upon today s youth. We will include a contemporary
source which likewise explores this challenging youth issue. Essentially, this poem displays the
damage that helicopter parenting can have on a child s youth, oppressing them, taking their childhood
away from them.
Angelou s poem I Know Why the Cages Bird Sings expresses the idea that freedom is a natural state
and knowledge of this fact cannot be rid of by any amount of oppression, limitation or confinement
from different opportunities. The poem contrasts a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the last stanza, the caged bird s song symbolises the emotions and cries of freedom. The
combination of the two represents that there is a need for every child to reach their full potential.
Something that cannot be achieved with helicopter parenting and the barriers placed upon them.
This poem contains another literary device called juxtaposition. The free bird is juxtaposed with the
caged bird, both are described but they are very different. Adults need to think about how they use
their power over children. Helicopter parenting; is using power that causes children to be restricted
and to shrivel up inside rather than flourish just like the caged and free bird in the poem. Angelou s
free bird is a free child, someone who has the freedom to pursue their ambitions no matter how
questionably they become.
Near the end of the poem it is revealed that the bird opens his throat to sing Maya Angelou felt this
way in her own life. She wrote, sang and danced because it was her way of expressing her longing for
freedom despite being oppressed for most of her life. Although freedom, to the caged bird, is fearful
because it is unknown , he still sings a fearful trill . The cries of help are heard but the overarching
parents only hear it as background noise.
Maya felt strongly about oppression and this pushed her to make this poem to achieve social justice

Business Law Case Study
Business Law Case Study In the case presented, Biff Smith, the Chief of Police of the local
department ordered a set of bicycles off of a local storeowner, Dirk Right. This was no simple order
though, in fact Biff intended on starting a bike patrol unit within the local department. Biff went to
Dirks Bicycle shop to place an order. The order was for five mountain bikes to be used for patrol so
they had to be custom made in order to sport the police decals. Biff was very familiar with the
Schwinn bicycle company so he asked Dirk to order him five top of the line bikes at the best price .
This simple statement implied that Biff not only wanted the bikes but he intended on paying for them
as well. So soon after Dirk accepted the deal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore Dirks specially ordered custom bikes for the police department upon the request from Biff
are considered specially made. The custom bikes were a special order because they contained unique
decals displaying POLICE . Therefore Dirk can enforce the oral contract against Biff despite the price
being an excess of $500, (under Revised article 2). Analyzing the case with all elements in mind, we
concluded that a contract was in fact created. Dirk, who is pursuing Biff in court, will put up a case
due to the oral contract that was indeed made. In this case there is no need for a written contract
because Biff verbally agreed to buy five Schwinn custom police mountain bikes specially ordered by
Dirk. For this non resellable goods exception to apply, the seller, Dirk, must have made a substantial
beginning in manufacturing the goods. To show this is true, Dirk went out of his way to create an
order for Biff that was special for the Police department, and by doing so, Dirk cannot return/resell the
bikes, and he is at a loss of $17,500. The most important factor working in Dirks favor is the letter he
received from the local PBA. The end of the letter had a hand written signature thanking Dirk for
ordering the bikes. This is hard evidence that a deal was made because the note brings up the
agreement for the bikes in writing and is signed by the second party, Biff. Dirk has enough evidence to

Key West Agreement Analysis
In addressing the inconsistencies of the National Security Act and Executive Order 9877, Secretary of
Defense Forrestal proposed a redraft of the Executive Order to the Chiefs of Staff. However, none of
the Generals approved the suggested changes. In response, Secretary Forrestal arranged a conference
in Key West, during March 1948. Within a month, the Key West Agreement had been signed by all of
the Chiefs of Staff, who agreed on the functions of each Service. Among other points of interest, the
agreement included Section I, paragraph d., which stated, Prevention of unnecessary duplication or

Secretary of the Army Frank Pace and Secretary of the Air Force Thomas Finletter came up with the
first of two agreements that further defined organic aviation within the Army. In the letter signed on 2
October 1951, it was evident that the Army was trying to improve its combat efficiency, and the Air
Force was mainly concerned with job security. The agreement s first paragraph echoed this sentiment,
insuring, the U.S. Army may employ aircraft necessary for its internal requirements in the conduct of
operations on land, without infringement upon the missions assigned to the U.S. Air Force (Wolf,
1987, p. 239). The Army also received a more specific purpose as to how it could incorporate aviation,
to expedite and improve ground combat and logistical procedures within the combat zone (Wolf, 1987,
p. 239). In addition, the agreement outlined missions that Army Aviation could accomplish, including
aerial observation, adjusting artillery fire, providing command and control, and transportation of Army
supplies, equipment, and small units within the combat zone (Wolf, 1987, p. 239). An open ended
statement that would provide leeway for Army leaders to maximize the use of aviation assets was
included in section 3, which stated, Army organic aircraft will be used by the responsible Army
commander as he considers necessary for the

Foreshadowing In Bible
All things considered, God always had in mind one plan for salvation. Since, the promise made to

between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel the devil had
tried to deceive us with the biggest lie, that there are many ways to come to God. As a result, most
religions view God as a being that modifies according to peoples standards, peoples view point,
peoples believe, and their own interpretation of the Bible. However, that is not how God runs the
universe. In fact, the main reason for God to establish the temple among the Jews was in order to serve

Another key point, is that every sacrifice ceremony was providing just a temporary covering of once
sin, and could never take it away forever. On the other hand, the foreshadowing of the perfect Lamb,
would come to remove sin forever. That is what the temple represented, that there is one way to
heaven, the lamb slain, Jesus Christ. Now, the time has come to have faith in Jesus Christ for salvation
of our souls. The temple is no longer needed. In effect, no longer we need to wait for the foreshadow
of Jesus Christ, we no longer need to slain a sheep to cover our sins, we no longer need to seek God
on an altar, as he dwells within us through the Holy Spirit. God has never given us a spirit of fear,
rather a spirit of faith in Jesus Christ. Under those circumstances, when Jesus declared, I am the way,
is the reason why Jews hated Him. As a result, they were intolerance with Him and Christians, until
this day. The Bible speaks of Jesus Christ becoming the stumbling rock for the Jews by not accepting
his vicarious death. In fact, the incredible thing about Jesus is that He is the way, the truth and the life

Decisions made by individuals therefore are a reflection of the society they are raised or enter into.
There is a pre determined trajectory of members lives embodied into their unconscious. Bourdieu
notes that fields in which people are born or enter have structures in place to foster habitus (p66 68) o
The social field emerges from the structure. Bourdieu uses the meaphor of a game to highlight the
intracacies of the structure. However in comparison the social field is a long process of
autonominization where as a game is of a short duration. (p67) o Bourdieu also points out that if an
individual enters a field later in life it is harder to adjust to the beliefs of the field especially when it
varies from their own. (p68) Doxa arises within the field and is the relationship between the field and
habitus. It is the common sense and taken for granted assumptions that exist within a field. (p68)
Behaviour/mannerisms can convey symbolic meaning within a structure or field and thus create a
pattern of recognised behaviours or actions. These become embodied and dictate the way a person
conducts themseleves within a certain field. (p69 70) o For example the difference between genders in
the Kayble people. (p70 71) The man of honour walks at a steady, determined pace...a well bought up

Math in Special Education Essay
There s no denying that education is constantly changing, but what s truly astounding is the difference
that can be throughout the years in math. More is changing in math classrooms than the tools that are
used. The expectations that 21st century students face are completely transforming the approach that s
being taken in classrooms across America. The United States wants to make sure its students are ready
to compete on a global level, and teachers are stepping up to the plate. The National Council of

Students need to understand the reasoning behind the way math works, these standards put this into
practice. A second groundbreaking document released by the National Council of Teachers
Mathematics was Professional Standards for Teaching Mathematics. This set of standards present[s] a
vision of what teaching should entail to support the changes in curriculum set out in the Curriculum
and Evaluation Standards. This document spells out what teachers need to know to teach toward new
goals for mathematics education and how teaching should be evaluated for the purpose of
improvement (Burris). It was essential for this change because it changed how mathematics was
taught. Teachers now had new goals and had different processes of evaluation, which in the end,
resulted in a greater improvement for themselves, and also great academic achievement for students.
The NCTM followed with the 1995 release of Assessment Standards for Teaching Mathematics.
NCTM produced this important document because new assessment strategies and practices needed to
be developed that will enable teachers and others to assess students performance in a manner that
reflects the NCTM reform vision for school mathematics (Burris). This allowed teachers to give better
assessments to their students, which led to them being able to better asses themselves. It was easier for

The High Cost of Care Bitter Pill
By Steven Brill
Summary
Steven Brill feels that American health care is eating away at our economy and our treasury and
discusses the costs associated with the provision of health care services in the U.S.. The article
explores the medical world through the medical expenses incurred by a 64 year old Janice S., Sean
Recchi, A 42 year old from Lancaster, Ohio and several other egregiously billed patients. The article
poses the question: why exactly are the medical bills so high; in particular hospital bills?

As it relates to the textbook, this describes some of the scope of the hospitals; which refers to the
range of activities which the firm performs internally, the breadth of its product and service offerings,
the extent of its geographic market and its mix of businesses. But unlike with the electric company, no
regulator caps hospital profits. To the extent that author Steven Brill found any consistency among
hospital charge master practices, this is one of them: hospitals routinely seem to charge 2V2 times
what expensive implantable devices cost them, which produces that 150% profit margin.
Besides, studies delving into the economics of the medical marketplace consistently find that a
moderately higher or lower price doesn t change consumer purchasing decisions much, if at all,
because in health care there is little of the price sensitivity found in conventional marketplaces, even
on the rare occasion that patients know the cost in advance. Most hospital administrators defend such
chargemaster rates at all, they maintain that they are just starting points for a negotiation. But patients
don t typically know they are in a negotiation when they enter the hospital, nor do hospitals let them
know that.
Millions of insurance plans have annual payout limits, though the more typical plans purchased by
employers usually set those limits at $500,000 or $750,000 which can also quickly be consumed by a
catastrophic illness.

Observation Of A Korean Restaurant
SEOUL KIMCHI
I have been interested in Korean culture since high school. Therefore, I chose to observe a Korean
restaurant in Manchester. I visited Seoul Kimchi in Upper Brook Street twice on Thursday, 5pm to
6pm and Saturday 1.30pm to 2.30pm.
Seoul Kimchi is located in a strategic location. Vehicles heading to the city from Wilmslow Road pass
Upper Brook Street, so it is a busy road. The restaurant is white in colour so it is easily differentiated
among other restaurants in the block like Subway and Zaytoon. It is a small shop accommodating 20
people at one time. During both period I visited, almost all seats are occupied. The restaurant
workforce consists of four chefs (three male and one female), a dishwasher, waiter, and waitress. All
chefs wore white as in most restaurants and attendants wore black. It reminds me of Harley Davidson
riders who wear black as they do not show any dirt. Perhaps the same belief applies here as restaurant
attendants should look clean all the time.
The menu was bilingual (English and Korean) to cater all nationality but customers often ask further
details such as the ingredients of the food. Customers especially non Korean must feel insecure eating
food outside their culture so they ask for assurance. The situation implies that customers seriously care
about what they consume especially food. When ordering, I noticed customers would point on the
menu for a smoother communication with the waiter. Hence, human strive to make life easier. After

Music is a universal form of entertainment and was extremely prevalent during the 1920 s. Black
males originally only played jazz music from Louisiana, but soon it spread across big urban cities like

style of music that most people during that time may not have known existed. The cultural expansion

the third year of the reign of King Jehoiakim of Judah, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon came to

commanded his palace master Ashpenaz to bring in some Israelites of the royal family and of nobility,

three years, so that at the end of that time they could be put in the king s court. Among them were
Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, from the tribe of Judah. The palace master gave them
different names: Daniel he called Belteshazzar, Hananiah he called Shadrach, Mishael he called
Meshach , and Azariah he called Abednego. To these four young men God gave knowledge and skill
in every aspect of literature and wisdom; Daniel also had insight into all visions and dreams. Among
all the young men, no one was found to compare with Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah;
therefore they were stationed in the king s court. In every matter of wisdom and understanding
concerning which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and

Rhetorical Analysis Essay on Carrie Chapman Catt s Address to Congress Carrie Lane Chapman Catt
not only stood her ground in front of the men representing this country, but the people of the country.
Catt may not have the highest status among the men she addressed, but she did have a mature position
in the fight for women s rights. The women of this country, along with Catt, were in an uproar and
wanted to have a say in the person that would soon be the one responsible for their national security.
In her address to Congress, Catt employs the rhetorical appeals of ethos, pathos, and logos to create a
convincing case for the civil rights for the women across America. Her name was not high in
government, but high in the fight that women across the country were involved in one way or another.

I am opposed to such content on the Internet and therefore am a firm believer in
Internet censorship. However, the question at hand is just how much censorship the government
impose. Because the Internet has become the largest source of information in the world, legislative
safeguards are indeed imminent. Explicit material is not readily available over the mail or telephone
and distribution of obscene material is illegal. Therefore, there is no reason this stuff should go
unimpeded across the Internet. Sure, there are some blocking devices, but they are no substitute for
well reasoned law. To counter this, the United States has set regulations to determine what is
categorized as obscenity and what is not.
By laws set previously by the government, obscene material should not be accessible through the

Coca-Cola Company Versus Pepsi Company Essay
Coca Cola Company versus Pepsi Company Coca Cola Company versus Pepsi Company Analyze and
discuss the current effects of IFRS on the pension reporting for Coca Cola and PepsiCo at 2009 year
end. Pepsi and Coca Cola companies are two global competitors that have ferocious competitions with
each other. The two companies have highly diversified products with varying pension plans. Pension
is usually defined as a steady income that a person receives on retirement. Recent events in the world
of corporate finance have shown the importance of proper administration. Funding of corporate

retirees medical liability and expenses undergoes annual review where the overview is often based
upon the company claim experiences as well as on the information available on the health plans and
the general knowledge that the health industry poses (Keiso, Weygandt amp; Warfield, 2012).
Overview of the trends comprise of factors including demographics. This is mainly based on the
company assumptions. For example, it is expected that the year 2009 will realize a decrease in the
pension expense backs the expected returns on cost. Furthermore, contributions that are associated
with productivity for growth program in the preceding year will help in partially offsetting an increase
in amortization (Lundy, 2006). Therefore, the increase realized from experience loss amortization is
mainly attributed to the pension. Calculate the funding levels and capital gains experienced by Coca

Gay Conversion Therapy Essay
Although various methods of Conversion Therapy have been around since sense the dawn of religion
itself, the early 1900 s peaked interest in the so called psychiatric problem that is homosexuality;
indeed, oftentimes considered The Father of Psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud claimed that
homosexuality may be removed from the brain through hypnotism or therapeutic torture. Through his
widely respected claims, Freud, for a short era, influenced the decisions of many Evangelical
Christians with homosexual relatives. From the establishment of small psychology centers focused on
gay conversion to the opening of numerous straight camps for gay men and lesbians, the Freudian Era
of Gay Conversion and Gender Identity Therapies led to a breakthrough in medical research regarding
these ineffective treatments. All of this being true, and even with modern medicine being of
abundance in our society, certain Evangelical Christian groups still intend on practicing this form of
rehabilitation, but with our progressive American mindsets, these should not be bearing the heavy
burden of anti societal measures for much longer.

Carl Jung s Theory Of Collective Unconscious

Essay 3 For my last and final essay of this semester I chose to answer questions number five, six and
seven. I simply chose these series of questions due to the fact that I ve had all of the Freud I could
possibly take for one semester. All the questions I ve selected are involving Carl Jung and not
Sigmund Freud. To begin with my essay let s start with question number five which asks to explain
Jung s notion of collective unconscious . I very strongly believe that Jung s concept of collective
unconscious is mainly based on his personal experiences with people who suffer from schizophrenia
which he gained form when he worked with them at the Burgholzli hospital. At first Jung chose to
follow the Freudian theory of unconscious, but later on Jung eventually chose to go down his own
path and decided to develop his own theory on unconscious which would feature totally new concepts.
Most importantly being the archetype. Archetypes constitute the structure of the collective
unconscious, which are the psychic innate dispositions to experience and represent the basic human
behavior and situations. For example, Mother and child relationship which is mainly governed by the
mother archetype. The Father and child relationship is mainly governed by the Father archetype. Birth,
death, power and failure are controlled by archetypes.

The next step involves the collection of the insects and beetles from the body and scene. Adult flies
should be caught with a net, and then immobilized in a glass killing jar consisting of a cotton ball
soaked in ethyl acetate. After a few minutes the adult flies can be transferred to vial with 75% ethyl
alcohol. For the collection of beetles, using forceps or gloved fingers beetle can be placed directly into
a vial of 75% ethyl alcohol. The next step is the collection of eggs and approximately 60 larvae from
the maggot mass. These can be placed in a killing solution or ethyl alcohol. For multiple sites of

Some flies prefer indoors or outdoors for laying eggs, and some prefer the shade or sunlit areas.
Furthermore, a delay or absence of eggs in the typical colonization time may indicate the body was
frozen, sealed in a sealed container, or buried very deep. Finally, in a violent death or abuse, certain
flies are attracted to urine, feces, or blood. By collecting these insects a forensic entomologist can
yield important information about a victim prior to their death, but also postmortem, by using DNA
technology that can use the blood found in an insect from the victim to establish a link between victim
and a suspect (Byrd, 2014). Decomposition is a multi stage process that includes the fresh stage, bloat
stage, active decay stage, advanced decay stage, and the putrid dry decay stage. During the fresh,
bloat, and active decay stages the blow flies, eggs, and larvae are present. But, the rate of
decomposition can be delayed or increased based on the environment (e.g. indoors or outdoors), a well
or minimally concealed body, temperature, and seasons. A body submerged in water is typically cooler
in temperature or the type of protection a body has surrounding it, can impede on the colonization of
blow flies, resulting in the delay of decomposition. But, a body with open wounds, exposure to certain
drugs (e.g. cocaine), or even bodies charred can

Trobriand Island Summary
When you are asked what your daily essentials are, food must be one of your answers. We all know
that food means a lot to people but have you ever thought about food from another perspective?
Anderson s readings investigate food from many other perspectives. According to Anderson, food
represents our views, class, power, lifestyles and identities. These ideas are true and can be found
among the Trobriand Islanders. In their society, life revolves around lineage and food because lineage
controls all the food. In order to make the lineage system successful, people from Trobriand Island
treat yams as their wealth, social status and political power. Connecting back to Anderson s ideologies,
the idea of food represents social class is reflected by the different treatment received by the Trobriand
Islanders, Islanders urge to work represents the connection between food and political power, and the
fact that lineage is more important than oneself indicates the idea of food is identity. ... Show more

As Anderson suggests, Food marks social class . (2005 124) Being in a matrilineage, female is the
source and origin of identity, family, lineage, resources, wealth, power and prestige. Men grow yams
for women in order to show women s wealth. From this example, we know that men and women have
very different social status in the Trobriand Island society. Unlike our culture, Trobriand Island s
women have the dominate power in the society and men, on the other hand, support them to be
wealthy. Among the Trobriand Islanders, not everyone has the privilege to own certain types of food.
Yams would be one example. Within the lineage, the chief is the only one who gets the giant yam.
Having the giant yams means that he has power over the entire lineage. This example reinforces
Anderson s idea of food shows off personal power and authority. (2005

Morals vs. Instinct in The Lord of the Flies by William...
The Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, is an allegory that connects the boys behavior in the novel
to the basic behavior of human nature. In the novel, the boys fear a wild beast that has the potential to
kill them off. However, Simon, a quiet boy, finds that the beast is not an animal that everyone should
fear, but is a part of each boy himself. As Simon wanders back to a beautiful meadow that he had
traveled to before, he finds that it has changed. Instead of the peaceful meadow that Simon had
discovered previously, the bloody head of a sow impaled by Jack and his follows taints the meadow.
They had done this as an offering to the beast, hoping that the beast would be satisfied with the sow s
head and would give up hunting for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
See? (Golding 144). Simon, in shock of what the Lord of the Flies says to him, knew that one of his
times was coming on (Golding 143). His emotional distress triggers his body to lose all consciousness.
The encounter with the Lord of the Flies supports Simon s thoughts that the beast that the boys are
hunting for is not an actual animal. The Lord of the Flies tries to persuade Simon to let go of his
rational thoughts and be taken over by his primal instincts in order to have fun like the other boys.
However, when Simon s silence declares that he refuses to let go of logic and rationality, the Lord of
the Flies realizes that Simon knows what the beast really is the innermost part of the boys. Simon
seems to make this connection that the Lord of the Flies is representational to the inner beast within
the boys almost instantly. His gaze was held by that ancient, inescapable recognition (Golding 139).
Simon instantly The Lord of the Flies quickly makes the connection, too. You knew, didn t you? I m
part of you? Close, close, close! I m the reason why it s no go? Why things are what they are?
(Golding, 1 ). The Lord of the Flies is symbolic to all the evil that is in humans. As Simon realizes that
he was right about the beast, he tries to go back to the other boys to warn them about his discovery,
but the Lord of the Flies gets angry. This is ridiculous. You know perfectly well you ll only meet me

the call of the wild Essay
The Call of the Wild, on the surface, is a story about Buck, a four year old dog that is part Shepherd
and part St. Bernard. More importantly, it is a naturalistic tale about the survival of the fittest in
nature. Throughout the novel, Buck proves that he is fit and can endure the law of the club, the law of
the fang, and the laws of nature.
Buck had been raised in California, on the ranch of Judge Miller. There he had the run of the place and
was loved and pampered by all. Unfortunately, one of the judge s workers had a gambling problem
and stole Buck to sell him for fifty dollars. Buck fights being tied, caged, and beaten, but his efforts

Most of the other dogs stay away from Buck because of his size and strength, but Spitz becomes his
constant enemy, from whom he learns an important lesson. Spitz fights with Curly, one of the dogs
that is friendly to Buck. Buck watches as all the other dogs attack and kill Curly once he is down.
Buck is determined he will never be put in the same position. He will fight to the death if necessary.
Spitz constantly picks on Buck, wanting to get in a fight with him; Buck, however, resists the
challenges from Spitz. Then one time he steals the resting place that Buck has created for himself.
Buck has had enough and attacks Spitz with a vengeance. Francois and Perrault have to separate the
two dogs. Although the fight is stopped, the animosity continues, and the two enemies are always in a
skirmish. Then one day when Spitz prematurely kills a rabbit that all the dogs have been chasing,
Buck attacks again. The battle is fierce, and Buck is losing. He then calls upon his intelligence and
imagination to defeat Spitz. Instead of going for his throat, Buck attacks Spitz s front legs, breaking
both of them. Once he is down, the other dogs come in for the kill.
Now that Spitz has been eliminated, Buck is determined to become the leader of the dog sled team.
When Francois and Perrault harness Sol leks at the front of the team instead of Buck, he refuses to fall
into his place. When the drivers try to catch him, Buck runs out of reach. The quot;game quot; of tag

Entering AAgreement Binding Agreement
The parties to the contract must have intended to enter legally binding relations, this is defined as the
intention to enter a legally binding agreement or contract. If the parties do not intend to enter a legally
binding contract, in which the parties must come to an agreement of both sides, the contract may
become a mere promise. In Balfour v Balfour, the husband promised to pay his wife £30 a month,
when he failed to pay his wife tried to sue him, the wife s action failed as an intention to enter a
legally binding agreement could not be found, the court also held that the burden of proof of entering a
legally binding agreement is on the plaintiff to prove. Initially, what the courts will recognise as a
legally binding contract is that the parties to the contract intended to enter a legally binding contract.
Also the parties to the contract must have the legal capacity to enter into a contract. Young person s is
defined in the S3 Age of Majority Act, as anyone under the age of 18. Young person s capacity to enter
a legally binding contract is limited, however unclear in legislation generally minors are not able to be
a party to a contract. People with mental impairments are also limited in being parties to a contract if
they do not know what they are entering into. A valid contract must firstly possess key terms in which
both the promisee and promisor are initially creating a purpose for the contract. The HL in the case of

The Dining Halls At Virginia State University
Food plays an important role in our lives, especially in college. Food affects people financially,
nutritionally, and educationally. The dining halls at Virginia State University are a major source of
meals and food for students. Needless to say, it is important that those students can eat at these dining
halls. The problem with this is that the cost of campus dining is way too expensive for the limited
options we have.
At Virginia State University, students are paying $8,226 per year for their education, while they spend
$4,738 for the campus dining. That is basically half of the tuition! While most would hope if they
were paying almost the equivalent amount of their tuition on their meal plan, they would be receiving
a quality dining plan; however at Virginia State, that is not the case. There are limited choices at VSU;
usually only two places are open. If you choose not to eat at Jones dining hall or Foster, you are forced
to purchase meals off campus from Friday to Sunday night. This can become quite expensive for an
unemployed college student on a budget. It can be worse for those students who do not have
transportation. Another issue is the fact that many of the dining facilities are located on the main
campus, this makes it harder for students who live on the opposite side to have to walk across campus
for food. This limits our choices, even more, considering those who decline to take the long walk for
café food that isn t even satisfying.

Early American Artist Benjamin West
And I looked and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with
him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with
hunger and with death, and with beast of the earth. [Rev. 6:8] Early American artist Benjamin West,
details his conception of the scripture in his smaller study Death on the Pale Horse, in which the Four
Horsemen of the Apocalypse Death, War, Famine and Pestilence waste the earth. Considered in his
earlier works as a Neoclassical painter, his later works began to shift in the new direction of
Romanticism. This transition of art was meant to evoke an emotion within the viewer. Recalling the

Format, Proportion and Scale: Death on the Pale White Horse, created in the year 1817 is painted
horizontally through the application of oil on canvas. The dimensions 176 inches x 301 inches. that
correspond to the scale of the figures within the painting come across disproportional and are
somewhat misleading to that of the overall height and width of the piece. However, undisturbed by
the edges of the canvas, the centralized pyramid shape : formed by the figures in conjunction to those
figures within the foreground and the background, is not only placed harmoniously but sporadically
together to begin the process of guiding the viewers eyes across the canvas.
Viewpoint:
From what can be understood by the viewer, West has created the piece with a head on perspective.
Through the use of many imaginative sharp diagonal lines, that can be drawn from either the more
centralized figures whose hand rest atop his head and back is turned toward the viewer or the figure
from the far left corner who learns at an angle and holds a spear across his body, towards the very last
beast that is placed near the far upper right corner, West is able to create space and distance. The
pyramidal construction of figures, foreshortening, and atmospheric perspective also work collectively
to draw the viewer into the painting more closely.

Publix Mission Statement
The mission statement is the vision of the founder. A man who recognized the glaring holes in the food
market industry, and filled them with his passion to make food shopping a customer orientated
experience.
George Jenkins founded Publix in Winter Park Florida, in 1930. One of first signs that the company
had a future, was the fact that it attracted customers even though the country was going through its
biggest economic depression in its short history. But that didn t stop customers from shopping there.
The Publix difference began with its founder. George W. Jenkins was born Sept. 29, 1907. Growing up
in Harris, GA, he worked in his father s general store. In 1925, he moved to Tampa, FL at the age of
17 with a dream of making it in Florida real estate. To support himself he took a job at Piggly Wiggly

in, and employees will do better if they feel they are really apart of the company and its growth. In the
40 s Jenkins built what would be known as Florida s first supermarket. He was intricate with the
detail. He added concepts to the store that people never had seen before. He added air conditioning,
frozen food cases, increased the width of the aisles, played music throughout the store. The innovation
was followed by great success. People couldn t wait to shop there, they would drive miles just to
experience the Publix difference. Because of this success he was able to purchase a chain of 19
grocery stores in Florida that would become the foundation upon which the Publix Empire was

  • 2. Hate Crime Hate Crime The simplest definition of what a hate crime is, is a crime committed against a victim due to his or her perceived role in a social group. Social groups can be defined by many factors such as sexual orientation, race, disability, religion, age, gender and many other factors. Within this essay I aim to evaluate the causes of hate crime and also to assess the impact of crime on victims and the strategies used for responding to hate crime. The types of hate crime I am going to be focusing on are race, sexual orientation and gender. What is hate crime? Defining hate crime has proven to be a difficult task, shown by the multiple academic and professional definitions that exist. Barbara Perry (2001) suggests that as is the case ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How will we know if these actions truly constitute a hate crime? What crimes are we going to include in our definition? Jacobs and Potter (1998: 27) suggest that how much hate crime there is and what the appropriate response should be depends upon how hate crime is conceptualised and defined . So far I have outlined a number of academic definitions of hate crime and also the implications of defining such a crime. I am now going to describe the three types of hate crime I am focusing on which are race, sexual orientation and gender. Macpherson (1999) suggests that a racist incident is any incident which is perceived to be racist by the victim or any other person . The Crime and Disorder Act (1998) state that a racial group refers to persons defined by reference to their race, colour, nationality, or ethnic or national origins . The figures for race related hate crimes taking place are at the highest with a staggering 43,426 people involved in hate crime at the moment. Despite all the public awareness of hate crimes since Stephen Lawrence s murder, racially motivated hate crime is still taking place and does not seem to be decreasing. This brings me to question why figures are still rising despite law changes and public awareness. Research shows that few criminals are being prosecuted for committing a hate crime. Ministry of Justice (2008) in 2006 only 11,500 charges of racially aggravated offending were prosecuted in England ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As the number of customers decreased and the food sales experienced a significant drop at the second quarter of 2015, the HR Director believed that a new training program is needed not only to generate better income, but also to train employees in sales skills and increase motivation which can lead to a higher retention rate. The new CEO in collaboration with the director of the HR Judy Brown decided to develop a new training program. 2. Needs Assessment A needs assessment is a process to determine if the training program is necessary to conduct and if a designing plan can be completed in order to ensure that employees have the motivation to learn by working in a positive a learning environment, where they can transfer the knowledge acquired by choosing the best training technique. It is believed that the training offered by the HR Department is not sufficient and BR Guest management team failed to train new employees adequately in various positions like assistant managers, bussers, servers, hostess, or the kitchen staff. • 4. Real Women Have Curves Analysis Ana Garcia, the protagonist of the film Real Women Have Curves, is a perfect example of the contemporary Latina in the United States. She is an ideal illustration of the intersectionality between race, culture, gender, and class. When deciding what she would do for her future, Ana had to choose between her cultural values and mainstream expectations, between her Mexican heritage and her American mindset. After deciding to continue her education at Columbia University, Ana holds a feminist conference aiming to bring more attention to gender and race based discrimination within the workplace and the unrealistic beauty standards set forth by society for women. These two issues are particularly prevalent in the United States and have widespread effects, therefore Ana would primarily focus on them. Both issues are applicable to Ana herself and could very easily have negative repercussions on her own life. Discrimination in workplace is perpetuated in various ways and most commonly ... In addition to herself, gender and race based discrimination affects many people and so, by bringing attention to the issue, she and her fellow feminists could make an enormous impact on the affected population women and people of color. At her conference, Ana, Bose, and Whaley would propose introducing affirmative action legislation that would aid in desegregating occupations, which would in turn, help reduce discriminatory treatment of workers. • 7. The Characteristics Of A True Hero In Beowulf Even though a hero is one who laughs in the presence of evil. One who is brave, confident, and always is there for his people in there time of need. Beowulf, in my opinion, displayed a few of the characteristics of a hero. True he was brave and adventurous, however, he was selfish because he did all of his heroic events in order to show his greatness. For example, in the battle against Grendel, he was willing to risk his life by fighting without weapons to show his might. A real hero would not foolishly unarm himself only to prove his strength. Beowulf, however, did show great bravery and good judgment during his battle against the dragon, even though it was there that he met his demise. He rose to the challenge to protect his kingdom and did in fact, with a little help, do just that.Although foolish, He never once feared for his life as was quick to take on any challenge. In conclusion, besides his arrogance, Beowulf is a good example of a true hero. , Throughout Beowulf, Grendel is described as mankind s enemy, and his attacks are driven by the jealousy that humans are able to enjoy life in the light, and he is condemned to misery in the darkness. It s not just Grendel s ancestry that makes him evil; Grendel s actions are evil as well. because I have wrested the hilt from the enemies hand, avenged the evil done to the Danes; it is what was due. (1668 1670) The battle between good and evil is a necessary part of Beowulf s life; it consists of fighting for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Crammed in it and disguised by a simple holographic misrepresentation which caused the volumes on the shelves to appear as a complete run of the Ace Science Fiction Specials from the 1960s, was in fact such a collection of ancient tomes of mind blasting lore as to give the cognoscenti of such things many sleepless nights: The Book of Eibon, Cultes des Goules, De Vermis Mysteriis, The Eltdown Shards, The People of the Monolith, The Pnakotic Manuscripts, the Seven Cryptical Books of Hsan, Unaussprechlichen Kulten, and the dreaded Al azif itself, know also as the Necronomicon. With time and growing trust, some people get really close to each other and remain true friends. They stand up for each other in times of need and provide full support when you lose confidence in yourself. However, every friend is not the same type. It can be anyone a colleague, a friend who s beyond their years, or an older neighbor as long as you look up to this person and want to be more like them. 5. A Friend From a Different Culture The last thing you want to be described as is someone who s stuck in their own ways. If everyone had a friend from a different culture, the world would be a much better place. Being in a cross cultural friendship allows you to explore customs, values, and traditions outside of your own culture. Sometimes you might even adopt new ways to do things. Be careful; don t befriend someone just because they re from a different culture. No one likes to be a token friend. The Pike River tragedy was caused by human negligence from the management s side. The employees were exposed to high volumes of toxic gases that risked their lives. A combination of factors led to the fatal tragedy that killed 29 employees and left two critically injured. The greatest failure emanated from the managers since their project development skills were weak. The hiring of unskilled miners affected the entire safety program since they could not use equipment as required. Even after receiving complaints about excess toxic gases, the management invested in coal extraction rather than safeguarding its employees. Various issues such as faulty ventilation, poor gas drainage systems, and poor project development contributed to the four explosions. The Pike River Coal Mine faced numerous complexities from its establishment. Firstly, it was constructed without the right engineering knowledge. It is evident that the leaders sought cheap mechanisms that could save funds. However, the management s ideas led to one of the biggest mine accidents in New Zealand. They were too afraid to ask me though. They never really talked about it after the night I told them about the man in my room. One afternoon, my parents had a cookout at our house. • 31. Times Magazine The High Cost of Care Bitter Pill By Steven Brill Summary Steven Brill feels that American health care is eating away at our economy and our treasury and discusses the costs associated with the provision of health care services in the U.S.. The article explores the medical world through the medical expenses incurred by a 64 year old Janice S., Sean Recchi, A 42 year old from Lancaster, Ohio and several other egregiously billed patients. The article poses the question: why exactly are the medical bills so high; in particular hospital bills? The U.S. spends more on health care than the next 10 biggest spenders combined: Japan, Germany, France, China, the U.K., Italy, Canada, Brazil, Spain and Australia. 10 of the 20 occupations ... As it relates to the textbook, this describes some of the scope of the hospitals; which refers to the range of activities which the firm performs internally, the breadth of its product and service offerings, the extent of its geographic market and its mix of businesses. But unlike with the electric company, no regulator caps hospital profits. To the extent that author Steven Brill found any consistency among hospital charge master practices, this is one of them: hospitals routinely seem to charge 2V2 times what expensive implantable devices cost them, which produces that 150% profit margin. Besides, studies delving into the economics of the medical marketplace consistently find that a moderately higher or lower price doesn t change consumer purchasing decisions much, if at all, because in health care there is little of the price sensitivity found in conventional marketplaces, even on the rare occasion that patients know the cost in advance. Most hospital administrators defend such chargemaster rates at all, they maintain that they are just starting points for a negotiation. But patients don t typically know they are in a negotiation when they enter the hospital, nor do hospitals let them know that. Millions of insurance plans have annual payout limits, though the more typical plans purchased by employers usually set those limits at $500,000 or $750,000 which can also quickly be consumed by a catastrophic illness. ... • 32. Observation Of A Korean Restaurant SEOUL KIMCHI I have been interested in Korean culture since high school. Therefore, I chose to observe a Korean restaurant in Manchester. I visited Seoul Kimchi in Upper Brook Street twice on Thursday, 5pm to 6pm and Saturday 1.30pm to 2.30pm. Seoul Kimchi is located in a strategic location. Vehicles heading to the city from Wilmslow Road pass Upper Brook Street, so it is a busy road. The restaurant is white in colour so it is easily differentiated among other restaurants in the block like Subway and Zaytoon. It is a small shop accommodating 20 people at one time. During both period I visited, almost all seats are occupied. The restaurant workforce consists of four chefs (three male and one female), a dishwasher, waiter, and waitress. All chefs wore white as in most restaurants and attendants wore black. It reminds me of Harley Davidson riders who wear black as they do not show any dirt. Perhaps the same belief applies here as restaurant attendants should look clean all the time. The menu was bilingual (English and Korean) to cater all nationality but customers often ask further details such as the ingredients of the food. Customers especially non Korean must feel insecure eating food outside their culture so they ask for assurance. The situation implies that customers seriously care about what they consume especially food. When ordering, I noticed customers would point on the menu for a smoother communication with the waiter. After all, Jazz was a style of music that most people during that time may not have known existed. The cultural expansion of such artists like Louis Armstrong and Jelly Roll Morton took America by storm. Jazz music was popular amongst both the upper and lower social classes. Jazz was so popular that people began making dances like the Charleston. Dancing and music were only two of the forms of entertainment during this period. God let King Jehoiakim of Judah fall into his power. Then the king commanded his palace master Ashpenaz to bring in some Israelites of the royal family and of nobility, young men without physical defect and handsome, versed in every branch of wisdom, endowed with knowledge and insight, and competent to serve in the king s palace. They were to be educated for three years, so that at the end of that time they could be put in the king s court. Among them were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, from the tribe of Judah. The palace master gave them different names: Daniel he called Belteshazzar, Hananiah he called Shadrach, Mishael he called Meshach , and Azariah he called Abednego. To these four young men God gave knowledge and skill in every aspect of literature and wisdom; Daniel also had insight into all visions and dreams. Among all the young men, no one was found to compare with Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah; therefore they were stationed in the king s court. All the questions I ve selected are involving Carl Jung and not Sigmund Freud. I very strongly believe that Jung s concept of collective unconscious is mainly based on his personal experiences with people who suffer from schizophrenia which he gained form when he worked with them at the Burgholzli hospital. In their society, life revolves around lineage and food because lineage controls all the food. In order to make the lineage system successful, people from Trobriand Island treat yams as their wealth, social status and political power. The dining halls at Virginia State University are a major source of meals and food for students. Needless to say, it is important that those students can eat at these dining halls. The problem with this is that the cost of campus dining is way too expensive for the limited options we have. At Virginia State University, students are paying $8,226 per year for their education, while they spend $4,738 for the campus dining. That is basically half of the tuition! This can become quite expensive for an unemployed college student on a budget. It can be worse for those students who do not have transportation. Another issue is the fact that many of the dining facilities are located on the main campus, this makes it harder for students who live on the opposite side to have to walk across campus for food.
