A Case Of A High Profile Customer
1.0 Introduction
The report will be based on a case study of a high profile customer, Agatha, whose account was
debited with $1,000,000 using an online service at Trustworthy Bank and Trust (TBT). In this case,
TBT applies Triple Data Encryption Standard (3DES) in carrying out transactions. On receiving a
message that her account, has been debited with $1,000,000 she contacted the bank manager,
Jessica, on the account that the transaction was a forgery. However, the bank manager provided
information authorizing her to transfer money to an offshore bank in the Cayman Islands. This was
supported by encrypted message, Thanks for your many years of fine service, Jessica. Please
transfer $1,000,000 from my account to yours as a token of my esteem and appreciationНѕ Signed
Agatha. The message was provided by Cayman on Jessica s request. However, the client filed
against TBT, bank manager (Jessica) and Cayman Island on account that the transaction was a
forgery engineered by Jessica. On the other hand, TBT bank sued Agatha on account that all
procedures were followed.
As such, the report will seek to identify the ways that the bank would have prevented the
controversy from occurring. Additionally, the report will highlight the responsibility of Cayman
Island in determining whether the transaction was bogus or not. Moreover, the report will propose
ways of improving 3DES security performance to eliminate controversy in future. Lastly, the report
will contrast Advanced Encryption

The Qin Dynasty And The Great Wall Of China
Qin dynasty is a very important dynasty in the China history. It evolved from the state of Qin of
the Warring States Period. Qin Dynasty was also known as the first dynasty to unify China.
Emperor Qin managed to defeat six kingdoms one by one and eliminated all his enemies.
However, in 221BC Emperor Qin decided to build a large building known as the Great Wall of
China. He did that because he wanted to defend the Qin Dynasty that period from northern
barbarians invading into the dynasty and disrupting the peace. He also thought he would be able
to recruit labors to work on the Great Wall. Furthermore, Emperor Shi Huang was confident about
having enough resources to build this Great Wall and he knew the ways to build it. These are the
reasons persuaded Emperor Shi Huang to proceed with the construction of the Great Wall. The idea
of building the wall intrigued Emperor Shi Huang after realizing the threat from northern
barbarians invading into the dynasty and disrupting the peace. It started in 221BC, when Emperor
Shih Huang wanted to unify all the states during the Warring States period. He was known as the
first Emperor to unify China. Emperor Shi Huang ended the Zhou dynasty and destroyed the
remaining 6 kingdoms and took control of it. The land which was divided by the 7 kingdoms was
then unified under the Qin into one empire. Everything in the Qin Dynasty went well at that time.
However, Emperor Shi Huang realized that there was always a threat from the northern

Labor Market Flexibility
Labor Market Flexibility is, in theory, the prerogative of employers to hire and subsequently fire
workers without oversight, or the regard for regulation and/or influence of work unions (Marmot
Wilkinson, 2006). The thought process behind this idea is that firms are more likely to increase
their workforce, and that a greater portion of society can be employed. Through my experience in
watching the financial industry and business oriented Bloomberg News channel on Television, the
model of having less regulatory oversight and influences from outside sources brings down the
operating costs of companies and corporations, thereby allowing for greater investments by said
firms, presumably, to hire more people. As indicated by (Marmot Wilkinson, 2006), individuals
with higher levels of job insecurity are thought to be more enticed to work harder than others, so
this labor market model would be followed by an uptick in population wide productivity levels.
This would thereby lead to an increase... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is not healthy, and it should change. While regulations are costly for businesses to comply
with, they are needed to make sure that no industry gets in worse in its quality for workers and
that no one can be let go without just cause. Furthermore, this should be in addition to proper
notifications of any mistakes made and how to keep them from happening again, without fear of
unemployment for it just occurring once. References: Marmot, Michael, and Richard G.

Advantages And Components Of A New To Hydro One
Pad mount distribution stations are relatively new to Hydro One so that there are only four
stations of this kind in existence to date with the first design implemented in 2010 at Holland
DS. This type of station is normally used where a safe, reliable, and aesthetically appealing
design with smaller footprint is needed. Pad mount DS operates on distribution systems, up to
44kV and 10MVA. Most of the electrical components are pad mounted and are usually known as
dead front equipment. The Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) defines dead front as electrical
equipment without live parts exposed to a person on the operating side of the equipment . As
shown in Figure #, power transformer, 6 way load break switch, recloser, and station service... Show

The 44kV entrance supply can be overhead or underground. Normally this supply is first
connected to the MUS pole for MUS connection and then to the HV switch fuse structure via
overhead conductors. There are three mid span openers installed in between the MUS pole and the
HV Switch fuse structure for station isolation, when MUS is connected. Additionally, power
distribution throughout the station is carried out by direct buried, underground cables connecting
every electrical component, having concrete vaults under LV load break interrupter, reclosers,
and station service transformer. The LV cables are connected to equipment bushings via dead
break elbow connectors, which require to be disconnected only when not under load.
Furthermore, it is important to mention that the Puffer Pak В® is a dead front pad mount load
break disconnect switch used to distribute power from the three phase transformer to each of the
reclosers and SST. Depending on the design requirements, the Puffer Pak В® can have 5 or 6
switched ways. Examples of Pad mount DS designs that can be found on Meridian are: Holland

Hannah Arendt Totalitarianism
Ideology or Terror
In Discussion: Hannah Arendt s View of Totalitarianism
What is totalitarianism? Totalitarianism is commonly mistaken as tyranny or a dictatorship. It
begins as tyranny to lift the boundaries of the laws, but then turns into something stronger.
According to Hannah Arendt on page 86, If it is true that the elements of totalitarianism can be
found by retracing the history and analyzing the political implications of what we usually call the
crisis of our century, then the conclusion is unavoidable that the crisis is no mere threat from the
outside, no mere result of some aggressive foreign policy of wither Germany or Russia, and that it
will no more disappear with the death of Stalin that it disappeared with the fall of ... Show more

After reading Hannah Arendt s view on totalitarian government I can agree with Donoghue. Denis
Donoghue wrote this after reading Arendt s work. Donoghue explains, One of the most disturbing
implications in Hannah Arendt s books is that there are facts, situations, events with which the
human imagination cannot cope. I had always assumed that the imagination was good enough for
anything, and I had been delighted by Stevens s picture of reality and the imagination in dynamic
poise, the violence within grappling with that other violence which is its occasion, its challenge.
Dynamic accord; reality and the imagination equal and inseparable. But Hannah Arendt is right;
the human imagination is dazed by the reality of the concentration camps; it staggers, doubts its
own evidence, lurches in torpor or hysteria. It cannot disclose the real. This is basically saying
that our imagination is not always good situations like people think they are. Your imagination
can be used for evil just like everything else can be. The inhabitants of a totalitarian country are
thrown into and caught in the process of nature or history for the sake of accelerating its
movement; as such, they can only be executioners or victims of its inherent law. The process may
decide that those who today eliminate races and individuals or the members of dying classes and
decadent peoples are tomorrow those who must be sacrificed. What

A Dream Is A Dream
Why are these like this? These passages have many differences between these characters talking.
But the characters are similar in their personalities. Overall on of the passages use dialogue while
one describes the setting and what they thought. Throughout both passages they have certain
similarities by the authors developing their characters in different ways. Although, the passages

they thought in their head. In the beginning of the passage, the passage thats has dialogue, Red

beginning of the passage. How i work going today? Do you think the plants will be ready to
harvest in time? Do you enough men to help you (paragraph 2)? That s what the protagonist was

Essay On John D Rockefeller
In 1870 Rockefeller and a few other people incorporated the Standard Oil Company. Also in 1870
Rockefeller became the president for this company. He also gained monopoly of it. So what he
did was he would pay for all of the companies in New York but later on the government said that he
couldn t have all of those companies. After that shut down in 1881 he tried again in 1899 but the
same outcome with the government(John Davison Rockefeller, 1995). The government played a
huge role in Rockefeller s career. He also was known for his monopoly over his businesses. Also
he had a thinking that everyone is wrong and he was always right ( The Men Who Built America,
John D. Rockefeller had to face many setbacks. He had some minor setbacks but he had plenty of
major setbacks. One of the minor setbacks was the government shutting down his business twice.
But his major setback was when Edison and Tesla made the first lightbulb. This was so huge for
him because this meant that the lightbulb would shut down his oil/candle company. So many
people thought that the light bulb was so good so Rockefeller had to do something. So what he

other businesses. But then the major footprints are sabotaging the light bulb in its early stages
which attacked his business and the light bulb business. Plus he made the first trust (monopoly) in
history of the USA. With that trust the court and government became suspicious about his actions.
Another major footprint was that he made one of the most well worked companies that still exist

My Brothers By F. Scott Fitzgerald
I felt the dread sink like a rock in my stomach. My two brothers, Ryan and Matthew, were on the
opposite end of the spectrum. My mother had been telling us for weeks that we were going up
to the farm that my family owned, but I didn t quite believe her until today. My brothers were
given dirt bikes last Christmas while I was given a ATV. Both of them had been counting down
the days until they were able to finally ride the dirt bikes and that day had come. After
everything was packed, I crammed myself in the van with my brothers and hoped for this trip to
end quickly. After two long hours of traveling with nothing to look at but the passing trees, we
finally arrived at the farm. As we piled out of the car, I looked at the dirt road we came in on and
turned to the house. It was one story and had a red tin roof, surrounded by a large grassy field
and then woods beyond that. Twirling around, I walked into the house and plopped onto the
closes bed. As everyone else unpacked, I locked myself in the room like a petulant child.
Eventually my resolve broke and I crept out of the room to see what everyone else was up to.
All of the food had been unpacked and the dirt bikes and ATV had been taken off of the trailer.
Helmets were promptly passed out and my brothers slung their legs over the bikes and were gone.
Not about to be left behind, I jumped on my ATV and I was on their trail. The trails were newly
cleared in the woods and almost running into the trees served as a

The Pirates Of The Caribbe At Worlds End
Do you know how much work is put into making a film? Neither do I, but I helped direct a play
so I understand a good portion of it. Film making is not just getting a cast, handing them a script,
and start rolling the camera. It takes time, skill, and key elements to not only get the production
ready but to get across a message to the viewer. In The Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End
(2007), Gore Verbinski creates a visual and brings the viewer in on how it would feel like to be
a pirate in a place where you are not wanted or accepted. By using the three main formal elements
mise en scene, cinematography, and sound he makes you feel you are in th emovie for yourself.
Without knowing what these elements are or maybe knowing only the bare minimum you, may
feel the movie is great in general, but after reading and analyzing the step by step process on
what it takes makes it even better. Captain Jack Sparrow is last one of Pirate Lords of the
Brethren Court who is needed to come together to fight for the freedom of the pirates way of
life. The opening scene is the most important and most powerful because it sets a foundation for
the rest of the film. In Fort Charles Port Royal, Lord Cutler Beckett is doing a mass execution of
pirates and pirates sympathizers. This is the beginning of the war he started against piracy as he
tired to gain control of the Dead Mans Chest. As people are lined up at the gallows there is a
young boy who starts to sing a pirate song, Hoist the

The Effects Of Lust And Love
Lust and love are total opposites. Lust is a primary ingredient of sex addiction. I find out that
people are often confused about what lust is. Lust is harmful to the body, mind and spirit, and it
can easily be mistaken for love, as we can see in the book of 2Samuel 13:1 4, with Amnon, son of
King David, erroneously getting involved with his own sister, Tamar. Lust has the opposite effect
of love. Love is spiritual while lust is Carnal; and the Holy Biblesays that God is love.
What really is lust and how do I differentiate lust from love? When Amnon said I am in love with
my sister Tamar was the bible telling us the obvious or what Amnon assume he had for her? We
need to understand this very well because very many of us have gone into relationship, thinking
we are driving by love when in actual lust is driving us. The bible simply told us what Amnon
thought he had for his sister, genuine love do not think nor demand sex first, the simplest way to
know if you are lust leaden or love driven is know which is coming first, sex ... Show more content

Jesus said, But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed
adultery with her in his heart ; Matt.5:28. When we consciously entertain fantasies through

Lust and pornography: Pornography uses the same lies that Satan used in the Garden of Eden.
Pornographic images tempt our eyes, flesh and senses to lust. Apostle James described the
temptation process in James 1:14 15: But each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is
dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is
full grown, gives birth to death. Sin, by lust, causes the death of innocence, sexual health, and the

Police Altercation Research Paper
Police can come off in many different ways with people recording police altercations and not
recording everything that happens. Resulting in people only getting half of the facts leading to a
large number of people getting upset before they know how a situation played out. Information real

fake news and don t look at other sources for information then form an opinion on that current event

Andrew Carnegie s Gospel Of Wealth
In his article Wealth , Andrew Carnegie argues for the wealth to give back their wealth to the
community by providing public institutions of various kinds ... [to] improve the general condition
of the people (Foner 30). Carnegie uses this article to promote his Gospel of Wealth idea and
provide his interpretation of the changing America. Carnegie s Gospel of Wealthstated that those
who accumulated money had an obligation to use it to promote the advancement of society
(Foner 28). Carnegie s articles focuses on the themes of Capitalism and Inequality, which
continue to shape society. Carnegie was a wealthy man himself, but he practiced exactly what he
preached. He notices how American society has revolutionized and created the divide between
the rich and the poor as it changed. Carnegie compares the American past equality to the equality
experienced among the Sioux Indians. Carnegie does not disapprove of the change, but
recognizes it as highly beneficial (Foner 29). According to Carnegie, the evidence of the
changing society is present in the contrast between the palace of the millionaire and the cottage of
the laborer (Foner 29). Although Carnegie recognizes the divided between rich and poor, he does
not see it as a bad thing, nor does he believe that people should stop obtaining wealth. Carnegie
believes that the wealthy should use their money to provide for good instead of hoarding great
sums all their lives (Foner 29). Carnegie approves of the implementation

Introduction
Terror attacks have become a norm in the modern society, and the occurrence of these attacks has
escalated in the past few years. Back in September 2001, the United States of America oversaw the
darkest period in their history. A total of 19 militants affiliated with the terrorist group Al Qaeda
,
hijacked four commercial passenger planes and flew 2 of them into the World Trade Centre, 1 hit
the Pentagon, while the other one crash landed in Pennsylvania. In the wake of these attacks, a trail
of death, destruction, and emotional instability was left behind. What followed was the realization
of the importance of emergency management and emergency preparedness in the United States.
This paper takes an in depth and detailed look at these attacks, their overall impact in terms of
economic and social status, and a detailed look at how different countries and organizations can
effectively prepare themselves to deal with disasters by using excellent emergency management
skills.
Body
After the 9/11 attacks, an estimated 3,000 innocent Americans lost their lives while properties
worth billions of dollars was destroyed. Since then, the impacts of the attacks are still being felt,
more than 15 years after the tragedy. As it is the case with any attack, the economy, stability and
political state of the affected country is usually affected. In general, the 9/11 attacks had both

The Zoroastrian creation myth says that in the beginning, there was nothing in the world but Ahura
Mazda, the Wise Lord, who lived in the Endless Light. And the evil Spirit Ahriman, who lived in the
Absolute Darkness. And between these realms was emptiness.
One day, Ahura Mazda decided to make different creations. First he shaped the sky made of metal,
shining and bright. Second, he made pure water. Third, he created the earth, flat and round with no
mountains or valleys. Fourth he made the plants, moist with no thorns. Fifth, created animals, big

Urban Areas Of Rural Areas
CHAPTER ONE
1.0 BACKGROUND TO THE STUDY
1.1 INTRODUCTION
Over the years, there has been a very high movement from rural to urban areas and this has made it
difficult to improve as well as sustain development in rural areas. The arrival of civilization brought
about urbanization. Civilization is the height of man s inventions as a means of raising his standard
of living. Man believes in high living and indeed obtains much pleasure in the company of other
fellow men. People agglomerate in cities to be able to communicate person to person, person to
firm person to government. Urban areas constitute the development potential of the state, the rural
areas have been neglected in terms of development opportunities. With the declining attitudes that
existed in the rural areas the rural dwellers are attracted to the urban areas to benefits from better
paying jobs, qualitative supply of basic amenities, highs level of commercial, recreational and
industrial activities.
Rapid urban population growth and physical expansion are very serious physical planning
problem such as poor physical layout places like Ajegunle and Makoko in Lagos. Also, these
include in the list; mass transit problem inadequate supply of housing, water and other basic social
services. Embarking on rural development and sustainability is very important, considering the fact
that more than two third of the Nigeria s population is living in rural areas, and they experience a
lot of misery, poverty, morbidity

What Are The Similarities Between Erwin Rommel And George...
When I discuss World War II, invariably my discussion always includes a discourse of two
generals, who in my opinion were two of the greatest generals of that war: Erwin Rommel and
George S. Patton. Both men were icons for their countries during this greatest of all wars, and they
were so similar and different in many ways of their personal and public lives.
Patton and Rommel both came from an extensive military training. Rommel joined the local
Infantry Regiment as an officer cadet in 1910 and was sent to the Officer Cadet School soon after.
He graduated on 15 November 1911 and was commissioned as a lieutenant in January 1912. Patton
attended Virginia Military Institute for only one year before being transferring to West Point

Rommel used all of the skills he had hond to a fine edge while in WWI fighting in France, while
Patton used his talents of stragety with the new piece of equipment, the tank, to quickly distinguish
himself. Rommel s was promoted to command of the 5th Light Division and of the 15.Panzer
Division which, were sent to Libya in early 1941. Patton was close behind Rommel in obtaining
promotion after promotion, moving from a boot lieutenant in World War Ito Major General at the
beginning of the North Africa campaign, where the two generals met on the battle field for the first
time.
Rommel is regarded as a chivalrous and humane officer because his command nor the troops in
those commands were ever accused of any war crimes. Like Rommel, Patton was a true
professional for the fair treatment of germal soilders, holding a respect for the men he fought
against. Both generals ensured that soldiers captured during the Africa campaign were treated
humanely, and in the case of Rommel, he ignored orders to kill captured commandos in all theaters

Revenge And Revenge In William Shakespeare s Hamlet
Being the prince of a nation offers all ideals for a twenty something year old man: wealth,
beautiful women, a strong and well respected father as king, power, and other commonly desirable
perks. When father is king, immunity is granted not a single person would want to mess with the
king s only son. But what would happen if the king gets brutally murdered by family? In William
Shakespeare s Hamlet, young Hamlet discovers that his father was savagely poisoned by his own
brother, Claudius. Upon hearing this news, Hamlet acquires but one thought revenge; after all, the
man who young Hamlet had looked up to the most his own father had his life taken by family.

Hamlet makes the right decision when he decides to not kill Claudius (at least, not
immediately). When a situation involves death, achieving revenge can be complicated because
at first not all the details of the circumstances are presented; therefore, it is necessary to wait and
allow things to get cleared up before any large decisions are made. Hamlet, instead, chooses to
set up a play where the actors demonstrate a scene that comes near the circumstances... of [his]
father s death (Act III, Scene II, ll. 81 82) in order to see how Claudius would respond. During
this part Claudius gets up from his seat and leaves in anger, signifying that he did in fact kill his
former brother and king. Had Hamlet not cleverly set up this performance, his reaction to his
father s death might have been extreme and out of proportion. The former king of Norway s
son, on the contrary, does not plan a justifiable revenge; ...young Fortinbras, of unimproved
mettle hot and full.. wishes to recover of [Denmark] those foresaid lands so by his father lost
(Act I, Scene I, ll. 107 108, 114 116). The Norwegian prince chooses to not pay attention to the
details of how his father died and lost some of his country s land; therefore, his actions would not
be honorable and heroic. Although he would be taking back what his people lost, the land was
surrendered fairly. Deeds of vengeance must be equivalent in severity or less in order to be viewed
honorably, or else society would view the action as

The MSC differs significantly from cohorts based in the USA, UK or Jamaica due to the near
100% of patients with HbSS, compared to the HbSC observed in diaspora populations of a West
African origin (with its milder clinical course and lower mortality rate). Additionally a very high
proportion of Tanzanian SCD patients ( 90%) (Makani et al. unpublished data) have the Central
African Republic(Bantu) haplotype associated with more severe disease and end organ damage

Markers of iron status suggest a lower prevalence of iron deficiency in the MSC compared to local
controls: transferrin saturation 16% = 25% [N=835] vs 47%[N=79] in controls. Moreover, our data
suggest that higher iron status (but not iron overload) assessed by transferrin saturation is
associated with lower daytime and nocturnal haemoglobin oxygen saturations [36]. Transferrin
saturation is not associated with haemoglobin concentrations in SCD cases, compared to a strong
correlation in the non SCA controls, whilst adequate iron status assessed by the F index (ratio of
soluble transferrin receptor to logged ferritin), is paradoxically associated with greatly increased
odds of having averaged steady state haemoglobin concentrations in the lowest septile (RR=5.45
[2.71/10.96] P 0.001). Hence iron will not be included in the fortificants of the current intervention.
Amino acid status in MSC

plasma samples from 11 SCD patients who had died (age at death 20.9В±7.4y) compared to 12

significantly lower ratios of arginine to ornithine (0.51В±0.14 vs 0.68В±0.17, p=0.014) in the
patients who died [37]. Furthermore, plasma arginine and arginine:ornithine ratios were

does hit the hammer on the nail with many of his predictions of the coming millennium; however,
he does treat it like all the bad from the 20th century will immediately disappear and all will be well
in the new millennium. Unfortunately, because of the horrific war, unpredictable economic

He sheds light on this by citing post Durkheim theories which he does not agree with and which

Religious Life (EFRL) to discuss the religious aspect of the body and soul. Upon reading, it is
discovered that as society evolves, so does this dual nature. In DHN, Durkheim argues that
sociology must examine what an individual consists of because it is a result of the whole society.

There were also 2 other theories that attempted to explain this dualism of human nature : (1) The
Ontological Explanation by Plato man s inward struggle consists of being good and being
unethical. Plato says that because we are part of both, we are necessarily in conflict with ourselves.
(p.4) And a theory by Kant (2) Sensitivity and Reason we have an ability to think individually or
collectively. Durkheim feels that these 2 theories only re state the problem it does not resolve it.
They also assume that man s nature is above explanation, but we should be able to explain it.
Again, in EFRL, Durkheim shows religiosity from a sociological standpoint in which individual
consciousness is combined with common consciousness. To look at it another way, individuals
use signs and symbols to interpret and/or explain their feelings. If the group all uses the same
signs and symbols, it then becomes the symbol or representation of the group s sacredness. Even
if the individual is no longer part of the collective society, he still holds the sacredness of the signs
/symbols to the same high standard, and he does this by way of festivals, ceremonies, etc.

Gail Godwin s The Sorrowful Woman
For how long should women remain under the dominion of their husbands? Women live in a
world that is male dominated and at times have to be submissive to the dominion of their
husbands. In most of the societies, the ideas and the activities of women are not credited at all.
Gail Godwin is a female activist concerned with the plight of women in the society. She is a writer
who has won several awards courtesy of her works. In most of her works she studies the
disappointment that women undergo at the hands of the society. She studies the kind of betrayal,
denial and the desperation that women pass though in pursuit of their goals. Among his many
works is the Sorrowful Woman. The Sorrowful Woman is a symbolic tale of a woman who deviates

Fever Bliss By Sylvia Plath Analysis
Sylvia Plath s Fever 103В° demonstrates the author s personal difficulty with attempting to cleanse
her purities through the burning fires of hell which happens to be contradicting herself and
explaining how she immediately receives a cathartic release through the fever and emergence of a
new self. Throughout the poem, Plath strives to gain a sense of empowerment and control of her
identity; this identification can be seen in the stanzas through the use of literary devices and sudden
shifts allowing the reader to gain an understanding of the interpretation that the author happens to
be far from pure and aims to achieve pureness through the many literary devices utilized within the
excerpt. Plath interprets the power of fire through metaphors that happen to have a dual force; it can
be seen as constructive and destructive, which enables one to either move towards or further away
from the purest element. The author, Plath, begins her poem with imagery that serves to be both
complex and contradictory she evokes purity as an inanimate object that must be able to purge all
existence of myriad sins. Continuing the poem Plath remarks, the aguey tendon, the sin, the sin (line
7) in order to indicate how the fires of hell, which should theoretically be able to burn her clean
and pure being, are unable to achieve in doing so. Then, adding direct emphasis on how fire has
been depicted through multiple ways, the author uses repetition in the lines that consist of, love,
love, the low smokes roll from me like Isadora s scarves... anchor in the wheel (lines 11 13). Love
has been duplicated in order to echo the sin, the sin in the previous stanzaand this instantly enables
the reader to notice the speed of the changing metaphors that Plath has incorporated within the few
lines; this change is similar to a catastrophic difference, such as radioactive materials to Greek
mythology. This shift neutralizes the feverish poem into a gentle and calming idea of simply
freeing all sins. The original concept of accomplishing purity through the burning fire then shifts to
a rather complex idea of the author s personal difficulties that also involve the world and its natural
disasters. In Plath s view, they [the smoke] will

Social Theories In The Breakfast Club
The 1985 comedy drama movie, The Breakfast Club, included five teenagers who are in
Saturday school detention for various reasons and at the end of the day must write an essay that
explains how they define themselves. In Saturday school detention, each teenager learns about
one another, what they have in common, and why they were assigned to be in detention. The
teens all have similar problems with stereotyping of how society and especially how their
parents define them. In the movie, four of the main characters: Claire, John, Andrew, and
Allison experience at least one of the following theories: strain theory, social learning theory,
control theory, and labeling theory. Labeling theory is the view that society creates deviance
through a system of social control organizations that label certain people as a delinquent or even
juvenile delinquent. An example of someone being highly labeled would be John Bender. John
was the criminal student who smoked, skipped school, and broke all the rules. John experienced
labeling theory, ultimately by his dad as being a lazy free loader and by the principal as being
the worst kid at the school. To compare, he also went through the strain theory stage, the stage
when society puts peer pressure on an individual caused by the failure to achieves one s social
goals. John was labeled by his peers, father, and even principle as someone who did not care
about the rules in school or succeeding in life. However, he had his own self label where he
accepted the fact that he was a trouble maker. Furthermore, an example in the movie is when he felt
he was treated unfairly by the principle so, to get revenge he would leave the classroom and
wandering the halls to make the teacher come find him and the students. With John demonstrating
being the bad influence on his classmates, he puts peer pressure on all the rest of the students to
display deviant behavior. Social control is when a person unites to society that prevents them from
violating rules therefore; if the bond weakens, they are free to commit delinquent acts. Travis
Hirschi, a sociologist, argued that the social bond a person maintains with society contains the
commitment to the pursuit of conventional activities, such as

Analysis Of Gauthier ( 1987 )
Gauthier (1987) argues that while moral constraints are necessary in certain cases, such as in the
presence of market failures, they are not required in a perfectly competitive market (PCM). The
PCM is defined by the absence of non pecuniary externalities and public goods, perfect information,
certainty and mutual unconcern. In a PCM utility maximisation leads to a Pareto efficient outcome.
Since this allocation is efficient and achieved through free exchange, Gauthier (1987) concludes
that the PCM must be a morally free zone. Morality would result in a failure to reach optimality.
However, this essay will propose three different scenarios in which even PCMs should have moral
constraints placed upon them, and therefore cannot be morally... Show more content on

Gauthier (1987:96) tries to get round this by arguing that in a PCM no one is affected, whether
beneficially or harmfully, by any market activity to which she has not chosen to be party. If this
were true it would rule out pecuniary externalities, but they obviously occur in PCMs. If Gauthier
still wanted to include the exclusion of pecuniary externalities, then he would undermine his own
argument that as long as a market is perfectly competitive it should be a morally free zone.
Nevertheless they are obviously important to consider when determining how morality should
interact with markets as they can have a significant impact on people s lives. Hausman (1992)
uses the example of the introduction of mechanical weaving looms to highlight this. The
introduction of mechanical looms would make the weaving industry more efficient, but would
diminish the value of the human and material capital of the hand loomers who had previously
worked in the industry and as a result would destroy their way of life. Defends of markets as
morally free zones may respond with the fact that PCMs should ensure these individuals are
redirected to a new position. However, even if they do manage to get a new job there is no
guarantee that they will receive the

Similarities Between Secular And Secular Music
Secular music and music intended for mass both played important roles in medieval culture. For a
while, the only music was made for worship. There were certain themes and purposes that shaped
church music to be the way that it was and the same with non religious music, each had a purpose.
There are characteristics of each that separate them from each other and then some characteristics
that make them one. One would not be the same today without the other. These styles of music
served as a source of inspiration for later music to come.
Some basic similarities between the two types of music were that both secular and religious
music was monophonic, which is when a single melody is sung by a single person or by a choir
in which each member sings the same part. Secular and religious music were intended for
communicating feelings and gave a way to express emotions in a way like never before and both
originated from oral cultures and passed down from memory until religious composers became
more literate. Monks and members of the church choir were the main performers of religious
music intended for mass and the troubadors, trouveres, and joungleurs were the performers of
secular music. Unlike secular music, music intended for mass was taken from or inspired by the
Bible for worship and was seen as a musical prayer. Singing about the scripture was another and a
more intimate way to experience the Holy Spirit rather than just reading from scripture. Secular
music was intended for parties and dancing mainly about love and used to entertain people. Some ...

Romantic Love And The Death Of A Relationship
Relationships
For a human, being alone in life is probably one of the most difficult problems in life a person
can face. For any human it is better to face life with a partner then to face it alone. Falling in love
takes on somewhat of a priority in life, in order to not be alone. When facing the issues both good
and bad in life, handling them with a partner is better than handling it alone. For most people
falling in love and remaining in love takes on a high expectation in their lives. It is these high
expectations that can actually turn out to be very detrimental to a relationship. High expectations
for a relationship will begin with the selection of a partner, to the commitment of the relationship
and in the length in time of the relationship. The present paper will indicate a progression along
with insight into the initial attraction, romantic love, and the death of a relationship. Focusing on
the various high and possibly detrimental expectations in a relationship would make for a more
realistic approach towards a more successful relationship.
When meeting someone that catches a person s attention would their response to this attention
being eagerly or elusive pave the way for a long term and successful relationship? Higher
expectations for an intense long term romantic love is realistic standard that couples can strive for
today. The concept of marriage seems to have a very strong attraction for most people, so much

Figurative Language in Night
The book night by Elie Wiesel has a lot of figurative language in it; almost all of the figurative
language used has its own significance and gives you more information on how bad life was
when you were a Jew in the 1940 s. There are eighty of you in the wagon, added the German
officer. If anyone is missing. You ll all be shot, like dogs... This simile has a very big impact and
shows how the Jews were treated. The jews being compared to dogs and the Germans almost are
saying how easy it would be for them to kill all of them if anyone is missing. This creates such a
big impact because the inhumane treatment from this point on just snowballed continuing to get

Response To Failure
Failure is really just a part of life. From god, to love, to our own academic studies, we have all
failed at something before, and it sure made us feel upset, or some other negative feelings, but
along comes Angel Perez and Mandy Oaklander to help save the day from the sheer destruction
of our guilt to tell us to bounce back , and that it is okay to fail. Something quite often unheard of
would be positive responses to failure, making it look like it is no big deal, but a rather out of
proportion. Given both articles it is not hard to see that Perez does not expect perfection, not the
brightest light in the dark sky, but rather a lesson learned from failure, rather than punishment.
Oaklander on the other hand talks of building up resilience... Show more content on Helpwriting.net
...
What Oaklander believes is that resilience can be built, and that all it takes is simply for a failure
as a trigger event to get us going, putting up our natural mental defenses that act as a coping
mechanism, and of course with some resilience it can determine how well you will bounce back
from a triggering event considering it does not take much to trigger stress as Oaklander himself
says. It does not take a predator to trigger a stress response in modern humans (Oaklander).
Oaklander like Perez can see that we as humans are not the most durable of people and that
certain things can impact our lives a lot more than they should. From failing one simple
assignment to not being acknowledged by others it can lead to a recognized stress trigger
creating any residual feeling from the original stress event to have the same effect on the
individual as the first time it happened. To ever think that a simple thought makes people cower
and mentally impairs them is simply highly illogical when one thinks about it, but it shows how
much resilience an individual might lack. Of course, Oaklander believes that resilience can be
built up like someone would a fine tuned body with the most desirable human traits, meaning
peak athletic condition, and a mentality like a rock. Within the article, Oaklander states In an
interesting twist, scientists have learned that working the body s muscles makes people s minds
more resilient as well. ( Oaklander). Allowing the body to enter a prime condition gives for a
harder mentality as stated before as things no longer seem to become overwhelming, but obstacles
in a path, and of course with that level of confidence an obstacle may seem easier than breathing.
Resiliency is finally shown when the body is properly exercised. Resiliency from that point now is
finally no longer just a mental thing, but a physical one

Comparing Christina Rossetti s Goblin Market and William Wordsworth s The Thorn
On the surface, the poems Goblin Market by Christina Rossetti and The Thorn by William
Wordsworth appear to be very different literary works. Goblin Market was written by a young
woman in the Victorian period about two sisters who develop a special bond through the rescue of
one sister by the other. The Thorn was written by the Romantic poet William Wordsworthabout a

So another situation is created in which the fallen woman must rely upon her sister to provide
strength and health through self sacrifice until the addiction can be overcome. Also reinforced are
Rossetti s warnings to her reader that men are dangerous, and that women serve as the only strength
for one another.
The ideas of feminism and oppression also determine Rossetti s point of view throughout Goblin
Market. The first and most present throughout is the perspective of Lizzie. She is portrayed as the
wiser more mature sister. Lizzie is standing outside of the oppressive situations of first, Jeannie and
most importantly, her sister Laura. Both troublesome situations are caused by the Goblin men, and
Lizzie can somehow see straight through their evil ways. Lizzie comes to Laura s rescue with
bravery and diligence just in time to save her sister from the ultimate doom of the illness : She

and the male dominated world. She relies heavily on her older sister to save her from the personal

Research Paper On Non Ruminants
Pigs are non ruminants because they are single stomached and eat feed that is low in fiber. Cows,
however are ruminates because they have a four chambered stomach.
The rumen is the biggest part of the bovines stomach, holding up to 50 gallons of partially digested
food at a time. It contains enzymes that start the digestion process, breaking down the hard food
and cellulose. The food may spend 15 to 48 hours in and out of the rumen being chewed,
swallowed, regurgitated and swallowed again and again before it moves on to the second part of
the stomach, the reticulum.
The next part is the reticulum which traps anything that the cow should not have eaten, such as
pieces of fencing, rocks and pieces of wire. The reticulum also softens the grass that has been eaten
and forms small wads of cud.The omasum s main purpose is to squeeze out the water and further
break down the cud, so the cow can regurgitate it and swallow it again. The abomasum completes the
digestion process. It passes essential nutrients to the bloodstream and sends the rest through the
intestines. This is very important because cows absolutely need these fibers and nutrients. ... Show

African American Oppression Between 1865 And 1905
Oppression is a common theme in history. Whether it is based on race or gender the oppressed are
inevitably strengthened by the oppression through commitment and perseverance. African
Americans were one of the most significant examples of oppression in American history. The
emancipation of slavery in 1865 signified the slow fight for freedom and equality for African
Americans. Between 1865 and 1905 they suffered extreme oppression, but remained united in their
fight to gain independence.
In 1865 all slaves were emancipated which declared them free, but racism was far from over. In the
South, freed African Americans continued to be killed as an act of racial violence. Between the
period of 1865 1905 African Americans fought to defeat their oppression. By the year 1905,
freedmen were still fighting for the same rights they were fighting for in 1865. African Americans
were oppressed in many regards, a great example of this is the black codes. These codes were

five months ago. One of the first things I learned in Spanish was that there are two different
pronouns for the word you. Firstly, there is the casual you, tГє and the respectful you, usted . This
is quite interesting because it may be possible that using these two words when speaking with two
different people might affect our emotions toward them. For example, if I am speaking to someone
on the football pitch and refer to him or her as tГє, I would feel more relaxed and even lack respect
to him or her. On the other hand, if I was speaking to my Spanish teacher I would refer to him as
usted, and I would feel more respectful toward him.
Another example of this that I being a speaker of both English and Hindi, have noticed is the word
sukhi , for which the closest English translation is peaceful . However, the most appropriate word
for peaceful in Hindi is shanti . Sukhi is being peaceful, but on a much larger scale something that
cannot be expressed accurately in English. Perhaps I am only hypothesizing, this is due to the fact
that Indian culture is generally more spiritual, and therefore they have a word for being completely
at peace with everything.

Erik Erikson s Theory Of The Psychosocial Development
Ashley is six year old and she is in first grade. Base on Erikson s theory, she is in stage 4 :
Industry vs. Inferiority. Industry versus inferiority is the fourth stage of Erik Erikson s theory
of the psychosocial development. The stage occurs during childhood between the ages of six
and eleven. Children at this stage, are learning to read and write, to do sums, to do things on
their own. Teachers and coaches begin to take an important role in the child s life as they teach
the child specific skills. Ashley told Billy that she loves her first grade class. She explained to
Billy that she learned to count by 5 and 10. Also she is able to read books to herself. She cannot
wait to read the princess book series that Billy bought for her. School and social interaction play
an important role during this time of a child s life. Through social interactions, children begin to
develop a sense of pride in their accomplishments and abilities. During the earlier stages, a child s
interactions centered primarily on caregivers, family members and others in their immediate
household. As the school years begin, the realm of social influence increases dramatically.
Friends and classmates play a role in how children progress through the industry versus inferiority
stage. Billy need to know that, at this stage, the child s peer group will gain greater significance
and will become a major source of the child s self esteem. The child now feels the need to win
approval by demonstrating

A Brief Biography Of Pythagoras
A Brief Biography of Pythagoras Pythagoras was a Greek religious leader who made huge
developments in math. He is described as the first pure mathematician. Pythagoras is a very
important figure in the development of mathematics and he made many contributions to the math
we use today. Pythagoras was born c.570 BCE in Samos, Ionia, Greece and died on c.495 BCE
on Matapontion. There is not a lot of information about his childhood. In 532 BCE, Pythagoras
emigrated to Italy, where he attended a scientific school. One of the teachers who had a big
influence in Pythagoras life was Pherekydes. As well as Thales, a philosophe. Thales introduced
him to math ideas and suggested to go to Egypt to learn more about every subject. So he took...

That at its deepest level, reality is mathematical in nature, 2.That philosophy can be used for
spiritual purification, 3.That the soul can rise to union with the divine, 4.That certain symbols have
a mystical significance, and 5.That all brothers of the order should observe strict loyalty and
secrecy. In this society were accepted both man and women. Brumbaugh says that it hard for us
today, familiar as we are with pure mathematical abstraction and with the mental act of
generalization, to appreciate the originality of this Pythagorean contribution because we do not
know in what sense Pythagorean and mathematikoi were studying mathematics. Regarding to this
we do not know what work is his anf what is his followers because there wasn t much writing.
Even though from the Pythagoras actual work nothing is known, Braumbaugh writes that he
studied proportion of numbers, odd and even numbers, perfect numbers, etc. and he states: Each
number had its own personality masculine or feminine, perfect or incomplete, beautiful or ugly.
This feeling modern mathematics has deliberately eliminated, but we still find overtones if it in
fiction and poetry. Ten was the very best number: it contained in itself the first four integers one,
two, three, and four [1 + 2 + 3 + 4 = 10] and these written in dot notation formed a perfect triangle.
And today we know Pythagoras for his famous Pythagorean

Easement
A conservation easement is a legal, binding agreement between a landowner and a conservation
organization that restricts the development and future use of the land to achieve a conservation
objective. Each easement is unique to the parcel it is designed to protect and to the needs of the
landowner donating the easement. There are term easements that exist in some states but not
Colorado. A conservation easementof the land is binding with the landowners and future owners as

Federal estate tax deduction and exclusion: Conservation easement limits future uses of land; it
also limits the value that can be assigned to property for estate tax purposes. This estate tax
deduction can lower estate taxes significantly, and can help heirs to keep family land, rather than
sell it to pay the estate tax. The federal Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997 created additional estate tax
benefits for donors of conservation easements. There is an exclusion from estate tax of up to 40%
of the value of land subject to a qualified conservation easement, up to $500,000. A post mortem

State property tax benefit: In 1995 the Colorado Legislature passed House Bill 1268, modifying
property tax law to encourage land conservation. HB 1268 allows farmers and ranchers who have
protected their land from development with a permanent conservation easement to take their land
out of production without losing their favorable agricultural property tax classification. The law
enables the preservation of precious farm and ranch land by giving farmers and ranchers an option
they did not previously have the option to retire or to suspend an operation due to market, natural,
or other conditions.

Examples Of Compromise In The Lover s Dictionary
The Lovers Dictionary Compromise is an agreement or a settlement of a dispute that is reached
by each side making concessions or an ability to listen to two sides in a dispute, and devise an
agreement acceptable to both parties. Compromise is not only just an agreement to settle a dispute,
it is also unselfishly giving up something for another while respecting their personal boundaries.
One can assume that with relationships there will always be disagreements and non compromise.
Therefore, no matter how many low points a relationship gets to there is always the ability to
compromise to solve an issue. Throughout The Lover s Dictionary there are many examples of
compromise, but also many examples of disagreements are exemplified between the couple
depicted in the story. The narrator does agree that compromise binds people together and makes the
bond stronger.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this text there is one example of compromise. The scene laid out for the reader is the narrator
not loving the very fragrant deodorant the partner wears. The only way the narrator would not
wear that deodorant was if the partner started to wear socks around the house. This is a prime
example of compromise because one is giving up something for another in order to create comfort
in the environment they are living in. At the end of this text there is a gray area where the narrator
sends out what some might perceive as a threat, but the narrator was trying to point out playful
banter between the two. This section has a jovial and amusing levity to it, supporting that the
narrator has willingly compromised with the

On receiving a message that her account, has been debited with $1,000,000 she contacted the bank manager, Jessica, on the account that the transaction was a forgery. However, the bank manager provided information authorizing her to transfer money to an offshore bank in the Cayman Islands. This was supported by encrypted message, Thanks for your many years of fine service, Jessica. Please transfer $1,000,000 from my account to yours as a token of my esteem and appreciationНѕ Signed Agatha. The message was provided by Cayman on Jessica s request. However, the client filed against TBT, bank manager (Jessica) and Cayman Island on account that the transaction was a forgery engineered by Jessica. On the other hand, TBT bank sued Agatha on account that all procedures were followed. As such, the report will seek to identify the ways that the bank would have prevented the controversy from occurring. Additionally, the report will highlight the responsibility of Cayman Island in determining whether the transaction was bogus or not. Moreover, the report will propose ways of improving 3DES security performance to eliminate controversy in future. Lastly, the report will contrast Advanced Encryption ... • 3. The Qin Dynasty And The Great Wall Of China Qin dynasty is a very important dynasty in the China history. It evolved from the state of Qin of the Warring States Period. Qin Dynasty was also known as the first dynasty to unify China. Emperor Qin managed to defeat six kingdoms one by one and eliminated all his enemies. However, in 221BC Emperor Qin decided to build a large building known as the Great Wall of China. He did that because he wanted to defend the Qin Dynasty that period from northern barbarians invading into the dynasty and disrupting the peace. He also thought he would be able to recruit labors to work on the Great Wall. Furthermore, Emperor Shi Huang was confident about having enough resources to build this Great Wall and he knew the ways to build it. These are the reasons persuaded Emperor Shi Huang to proceed with the construction of the Great Wall. The idea of building the wall intrigued Emperor Shi Huang after realizing the threat from northern barbarians invading into the dynasty and disrupting the peace. It started in 221BC, when Emperor Shih Huang wanted to unify all the states during the Warring States period. He was known as the first Emperor to unify China. Emperor Shi Huang ended the Zhou dynasty and destroyed the remaining 6 kingdoms and took control of it. The land which was divided by the 7 kingdoms was then unified under the Qin into one empire. Everything in the Qin Dynasty went well at that time. However, Emperor Shi Huang realized that there was always a threat from the northern ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Labor Market Flexibility Labor Market Flexibility is, in theory, the prerogative of employers to hire and subsequently fire workers without oversight, or the regard for regulation and/or influence of work unions (Marmot Wilkinson, 2006). The thought process behind this idea is that firms are more likely to increase their workforce, and that a greater portion of society can be employed. Through my experience in watching the financial industry and business oriented Bloomberg News channel on Television, the model of having less regulatory oversight and influences from outside sources brings down the operating costs of companies and corporations, thereby allowing for greater investments by said firms, presumably, to hire more people. As indicated by (Marmot Wilkinson, 2006), individuals with higher levels of job insecurity are thought to be more enticed to work harder than others, so this labor market model would be followed by an uptick in population wide productivity levels. • 6. Hannah Arendt Totalitarianism Ideology or Terror In Discussion: Hannah Arendt s View of Totalitarianism What is totalitarianism? Totalitarianism is commonly mistaken as tyranny or a dictatorship. It begins as tyranny to lift the boundaries of the laws, but then turns into something stronger. According to Hannah Arendt on page 86, If it is true that the elements of totalitarianism can be found by retracing the history and analyzing the political implications of what we usually call the crisis of our century, then the conclusion is unavoidable that the crisis is no mere threat from the outside, no mere result of some aggressive foreign policy of wither Germany or Russia, and that it will no more disappear with the death of Stalin that it disappeared with the fall of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After reading Hannah Arendt s view on totalitarian government I can agree with Donoghue. Denis Donoghue wrote this after reading Arendt s work. Donoghue explains, One of the most disturbing implications in Hannah Arendt s books is that there are facts, situations, events with which the human imagination cannot cope. I had always assumed that the imagination was good enough for anything, and I had been delighted by Stevens s picture of reality and the imagination in dynamic poise, the violence within grappling with that other violence which is its occasion, its challenge. Dynamic accord; reality and the imagination equal and inseparable. But Hannah Arendt is right; the human imagination is dazed by the reality of the concentration camps; it staggers, doubts its own evidence, lurches in torpor or hysteria. It cannot disclose the real. This is basically saying that our imagination is not always good situations like people think they are. Your imagination can be used for evil just like everything else can be. The inhabitants of a totalitarian country are thrown into and caught in the process of nature or history for the sake of accelerating its movement; as such, they can only be executioners or victims of its inherent law. The process may decide that those who today eliminate races and individuals or the members of dying classes and decadent peoples are tomorrow those who must be sacrificed. What ... My mother had been telling us for weeks that we were going up to the farm that my family owned, but I didn t quite believe her until today. My brothers were given dirt bikes last Christmas while I was given a ATV. Both of them had been counting down the days until they were able to finally ride the dirt bikes and that day had come. After everything was packed, I crammed myself in the van with my brothers and hoped for this trip to end quickly. After two long hours of traveling with nothing to look at but the passing trees, we finally arrived at the farm. As we piled out of the car, I looked at the dirt road we came in on and turned to the house. It was one story and had a red tin roof, surrounded by a large grassy field and then woods beyond that. Twirling around, I walked into the house and plopped onto the closes bed. Lust is harmful to the body, mind and spirit, and it can easily be mistaken for love, as we can see in the book of 2Samuel 13:1 4, with Amnon, son of King David, erroneously getting involved with his own sister, Tamar. Lust has the opposite effect of love. Love is spiritual while lust is Carnal; and the Holy Biblesays that God is love. What really is lust and how do I differentiate lust from love? When Amnon said I am in love with my sister Tamar was the bible telling us the obvious or what Amnon assume he had for her? We need to understand this very well because very many of us have gone into relationship, thinking we are driving by love when in actual lust is driving us. Transferrin saturation is not associated with haemoglobin concentrations in SCD cases, compared to a strong correlation in the non SCA controls, whilst adequate iron status assessed by the F index (ratio of soluble transferrin receptor to logged ferritin), is paradoxically associated with greatly increased odds of having averaged steady state haemoglobin concentrations in the lowest septile (RR=5.45 [2.71/10.96] P 0.001). Durkheim also uses The Elementary Forms of the Religious Life (EFRL) to discuss the religious aspect of the body and soul. • 23. Fever Bliss By Sylvia Plath Analysis Sylvia Plath s Fever 103В° demonstrates the author s personal difficulty with attempting to cleanse her purities through the burning fires of hell which happens to be contradicting herself and explaining how she immediately receives a cathartic release through the fever and emergence of a new self. Throughout the poem, Plath strives to gain a sense of empowerment and control of her identity; this identification can be seen in the stanzas through the use of literary devices and sudden shifts allowing the reader to gain an understanding of the interpretation that the author happens to be far from pure and aims to achieve pureness through the many literary devices utilized within the excerpt. Plath interprets the power of fire through metaphors that happen to have a dual force; it can be seen as constructive and destructive, which enables one to either move towards or further away from the purest element. The author, Plath, begins her poem with imagery that serves to be both complex and contradictory she evokes purity as an inanimate object that must be able to purge all existence of myriad sins. Continuing the poem Plath remarks, the aguey tendon, the sin, the sin (line 7) in order to indicate how the fires of hell, which should theoretically be able to burn her clean and pure being, are unable to achieve in doing so. Then, adding direct emphasis on how fire has been depicted through multiple ways, the author uses repetition in the lines that consist of, love, love, the low smokes roll from me like Isadora s scarves... anchor in the wheel (lines 11 13). Love has been duplicated in order to echo the sin, the sin in the previous stanzaand this instantly enables the reader to notice the speed of the changing metaphors that Plath has incorporated within the few lines; this change is similar to a catastrophic difference, such as radioactive materials to Greek mythology. This shift neutralizes the feverish poem into a gentle and calming idea of simply freeing all sins. The original concept of accomplishing purity through the burning fire then shifts to a rather complex idea of the author s personal difficulties that also involve the world and its natural disasters. In Plath s view, they [the smoke] will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. Social Theories In The Breakfast Club The 1985 comedy drama movie, The Breakfast Club, included five teenagers who are in Saturday school detention for various reasons and at the end of the day must write an essay that explains how they define themselves. In Saturday school detention, each teenager learns about one another, what they have in common, and why they were assigned to be in detention. The teens all have similar problems with stereotyping of how society and especially how their parents define them. In the movie, four of the main characters: Claire, John, Andrew, and Allison experience at least one of the following theories: strain theory, social learning theory, control theory, and labeling theory. Labeling theory is the view that society creates deviance through a system of social control organizations that label certain people as a delinquent or even juvenile delinquent. An example of someone being highly labeled would be John Bender. John was the criminal student who smoked, skipped school, and broke all the rules. John experienced labeling theory, ultimately by his dad as being a lazy free loader and by the principal as being the worst kid at the school. To compare, he also went through the strain theory stage, the stage when society puts peer pressure on an individual caused by the failure to achieves one s social goals. John was labeled by his peers, father, and even principle as someone who did not care about the rules in school or succeeding in life. However, he had his own self label where he accepted the fact that he was a trouble maker. Furthermore, an example in the movie is when he felt he was treated unfairly by the principle so, to get revenge he would leave the classroom and wandering the halls to make the teacher come find him and the students. With John demonstrating being the bad influence on his classmates, he puts peer pressure on all the rest of the students to display deviant behavior. Social control is when a person unites to society that prevents them from violating rules therefore; if the bond weakens, they are free to commit delinquent acts. Travis Hirschi, a sociologist, argued that the social bond a person maintains with society contains the commitment to the pursuit of conventional activities, such as ... • 26. Analysis Of Gauthier ( 1987 ) Gauthier (1987) argues that while moral constraints are necessary in certain cases, such as in the presence of market failures, they are not required in a perfectly competitive market (PCM). The PCM is defined by the absence of non pecuniary externalities and public goods, perfect information, certainty and mutual unconcern. In a PCM utility maximisation leads to a Pareto efficient outcome. Since this allocation is efficient and achieved through free exchange, Gauthier (1987) concludes that the PCM must be a morally free zone. Morality would result in a failure to reach optimality. However, this essay will propose three different scenarios in which even PCMs should have moral constraints placed upon them, and therefore cannot be morally... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gauthier (1987:96) tries to get round this by arguing that in a PCM no one is affected, whether beneficially or harmfully, by any market activity to which she has not chosen to be party. If this were true it would rule out pecuniary externalities, but they obviously occur in PCMs. If Gauthier still wanted to include the exclusion of pecuniary externalities, then he would undermine his own argument that as long as a market is perfectly competitive it should be a morally free zone. Nevertheless they are obviously important to consider when determining how morality should interact with markets as they can have a significant impact on people s lives. Hausman (1992) uses the example of the introduction of mechanical weaving looms to highlight this. The introduction of mechanical looms would make the weaving industry more efficient, but would diminish the value of the human and material capital of the hand loomers who had previously worked in the industry and as a result would destroy their way of life. Defends of markets as morally free zones may respond with the fact that PCMs should ensure these individuals are redirected to a new position. However, even if they do manage to get a new job there is no guarantee that they will receive the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Similarities Between Secular And Secular Music Secular music and music intended for mass both played important roles in medieval culture. For a while, the only music was made for worship. There were certain themes and purposes that shaped church music to be the way that it was and the same with non religious music, each had a purpose. There are characteristics of each that separate them from each other and then some characteristics that make them one. One would not be the same today without the other. These styles of music served as a source of inspiration for later music to come. Some basic similarities between the two types of music were that both secular and religious music was monophonic, which is when a single melody is sung by a single person or by a choir in which each member sings the same part. Secular and religious music were intended for communicating feelings and gave a way to express emotions in a way like never before and both originated from oral cultures and passed down from memory until religious composers became more literate. Monks and members of the church choir were the main performers of religious music intended for mass and the troubadors, trouveres, and joungleurs were the performers of secular music. Unlike secular music, music intended for mass was taken from or inspired by the Bible for worship and was seen as a musical prayer. Singing about the scripture was another and a more intimate way to experience the Holy Spirit rather than just reading from scripture. Something quite often unheard of would be positive responses to failure, making it look like it is no big deal, but a rather out of proportion. What Oaklander believes is that resilience can be built, and that all it takes is simply for a failure as a trigger event to get us going, putting up our natural mental defenses that act as a coping mechanism, and of course with some resilience it can determine how well you will bounce back from a triggering event considering it does not take much to trigger stress as Oaklander himself says. It does not take a predator to trigger a stress response in modern humans (Oaklander). Oaklander like Perez can see that we as humans are not the most durable of people and that certain things can impact our lives a lot more than they should. From failing one simple assignment to not being acknowledged by others it can lead to a recognized stress trigger creating any residual feeling from the original stress event to have the same effect on the individual as the first time it happened. To ever think that a simple thought makes people cower and mentally impairs them is simply highly illogical when one thinks about it, but it shows how much resilience an individual might lack. Of course, Oaklander believes that resilience can be built up like someone would a fine tuned body with the most desirable human traits, meaning peak athletic condition, and a mentality like a rock. Within the article, Oaklander states In an interesting twist, scientists have learned that working the body s muscles makes people s minds more resilient as well. ( Oaklander). Allowing the body to enter a prime condition gives for a harder mentality as stated before as things no longer seem to become overwhelming, but obstacles in a path, and of course with that level of confidence an obstacle may seem easier than breathing. Cows, however are ruminates because they have a four chambered stomach. The rumen is the biggest part of the bovines stomach, holding up to 50 gallons of partially digested food at a time. It contains enzymes that start the digestion process, breaking down the hard food and cellulose. The food may spend 15 to 48 hours in and out of the rumen being chewed, swallowed, regurgitated and swallowed again and again before it moves on to the second part of the stomach, the reticulum. The next part is the reticulum which traps anything that the cow should not have eaten, such as pieces of fencing, rocks and pieces of wire. The reticulum also softens the grass that has been eaten and forms small wads of cud.The omasum s main purpose is to squeeze out the water and further break down the cud, so the cow can regurgitate it and swallow it again. The abomasum completes the digestion process. Firstly, there is the casual you, tГє and the respectful you, usted .
