Judicial Precedent Is Based On Stare Decisis
1A)
Judicial precedent is based on Stare decisis therefore in similar cases judges have to follow their own
decisions and decisions made by judges before are binding on similar cases in the future to which
previous ratio decidendi applies in order to reach a final decision. Ratio decidendi forms a binding
precedent which means that in future cases it has to be followed which contain the same principles.
Donoghue v Stevenson in 1932 set a legal precedent still in use today.
1B)
Ratio decidendi refers to the part of judgment where explanations are given regarding the reasons for a
decision. It is the general grounds rom which a decision is taken. Sometimes a judge may refer to a

Part payment of debt is a promise to accept part payment of debt for a certain time and this does not
count as good consideration for a lesser payment. unless something extra has been given up the person

Sam is able to reply on the doctrine of Promissory Estoppel which states a contract can be enforced
even though there is no consideration.
4A)
A breach of contract is when one party doesn t perform the contract in a way which is expected or
doesn t perform the contract at all. There are different ways in which a contract can be breached and
the first of these is a minor breach which once this happens the innocent party is entitled to
compensation but the contract is not terminated. The second manner a contract can be breached is a
fundamental breach where the contract can be terminated and damages can be claimed such as in the
case of Poussard vs Spiers (1876) where the breach was great enough to warrant a termination of
contract between two parties.

Biography of Booker T. Washington
Booker T. Washington is a famous African American educator, author, civil rights activist, and
philanthropist who is from Virginia (Wells). He is the man that promoted African American to rise
above their status of trying to be equal with Caucasians by promoting education and economic self
determination. Washington s life serves as an example of his philosophy or belief due to his
experience of knowing where African Americans started after the Civil War, where they were headed,
and resulted in changing their course to successful life. Booker T. (Taliaferro) Washington was born in
Franklin County, Virginia on April 5, 1865. He was born an interracial baby to Jane Ferguson. He
white father, who he never knew, was suspected to have lived on a nearby farm (Smock, 3). He was
born a slave and was owned by the Burroughs family. The cabin that he was born was considered a
rectangular box of 16 by 14 feet and served as kitchen where his mother cooked for his family and the
Burroughs family. This cabin, known as Booker T. Washington National Monument, is still preserved
can be visited and toured to day in Franklin County, Virginia. His childhood was not filled with play
but rather labor (Smock, 18). As a young child, four or five, he would do little chores, including
fetching items and operating a fan to keep the flies away from the food. As he grow older and
stronger, he would be assigned various task such as taking corn to the mill, giving water to the men in

Analysis Of Alice Munro s How I Met My Husband
How I Met My Husband by Alice Munro is a short story about Edie, a fifteenth year old girl, who
works at Dr. Peebles and Mrs.Peebles house taking care of their children, cleaning the house,
preparing the vegetables and occasionally baking desserts. One day they heard a plane pass by, and
they ran into the yard to look. Their neighbor Loretta Bird mentioned that the plane was close to
hitting their house and began to talk about the plane. She also specified that the pilot received
permission to use the fairgrounds and give residents rides to see the neighborhood from above. The
next day when Edie finished her tasks early, she sometimes would look at Mrs. Peebles clothes and
even tried on a dress and put makeup on. She headed to the kitchen to drink ginger ale and gets
startled by a man, named Chris Watters, standing outside the door. He mentions he s the pilot of the
plane and asks if he can obtain some water from the pump. He complimented and thanked her and left
to the pump. After she rushed to take off the dress and wash her face before Mrs. Peebles arrived to
the house. Mrs. Peebles commenced to ask questions about the man, but Edie contemplated on
becoming fired if the man revealed how she dressed. After the Dr. and Mrs. Peebles departed to the
theater, Edie ensured the children were sleeping then headed outside. She desired to talk to Chris to
make sure he wouldn t say anything about her dressed up. He assured he wouldn t reveal anything and

Perception And Scale Are Permanently Bonded
As human beings it sometimes appears that we are subject to our psychology as opposed to having
control over it. Almost every decision we make, every thought that crosses our minds, every emotion
that affects us has been created by an invisible process by our brain, a brain that doesn t feel the need
to explain its reasoning to us. Whether or not God exists, it is clear that we are beholden to forces we
do not, and can not control. This was something I felt more than ever in our past couple weeks of
humanities. In this time I learned that perception and scale are permanently bonded. It is only by
coming to grips with scale up close, and far away that we may find balance in our perspective. We
need to see things from far away to understand them, but it is by looking at them up close that we
make them feel human and real. Without either of these perspectives we stunt our potential
understanding as learners, as thinkers, and as people who understand what it means to be alive as
humans.
It is sometimes hard to see the point of looking at things up close. Why would we deliberately miss so
much of the picture by focusing on just one small piece of it? I believe that an up close viewpoint is
important to maintain to prevent psychic numbing and to maintain the humanity of events that we
have no direct connection with. When learning about the history of the universe and of life zooming
out too much can prevent you from empathizing with people from history. We have a tendency as

Women s Rights, Power, And Equal Ability Essay
When people celebrate Mother s Day, what do they mean and thanking their mother for everything?
Do they mean that mother has given them life then sacrificed herself to raising children? Or do they
mean that mother has had her own dreams and achievements and has become a pattern for her
children? Do they thank their mother for a happy childhood or for strong character and traits which
help them be successful?
Our society during human history has looked upon the male as the breadwinner: who is expected to
work and support the family. At the same time the mother has been viewed as the nurturer: who gives
birth to children, stays home, feeds and raises them. Step by step women wanted more rights, power,
and equal ability. In the 20 century women were given these rights and could finally seek jobs outside
of the home. A lot of questions appeared when women needed to leave their children with someone to
care while mother working. Mother s absence from home for whole day leads to new values which not
include in the mother s primary role in building ethical standards of her children. New generations
have value s system that can be formed by not family members, but from strangers, day care, school,
and now from the Internet. Lack of personal control from mother now is not an issue because working
woman can afford others to perform this control. People have forgotten that Society truly begins at
home (Sibyl Niemann). has changed enough to devalues housewife s labor. Staying

Develop and Implement Policies Procedures to Support the...
We make sure at C and C we have policies and procedures in place for safeguarding and child
protection: * protects children and young people from harm and abuse * enables staff to know what to
do if they are worried * Shows that our staff is responsible and has pride in its work.
In England the law states that people who work with children have to keep them safe. This
safeguarding legislation is set out in The Children Act (1989) and (2004). It also features in the United
Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (to which the UK is a signatory) and sets out the rights
of children to be free from abuse. The Government also provides guidance in their document Working

Serious case reviews are undertaken when a child or young person dies where abuse or neglect is
known or suspected to be a factor in the death. Serious care reviews are set up to see what lessons can
be learnt from the death about the way in which local professionals and organisations work separately
and together to help safeguard and promote the welfare of the children and young people. It is also set
up to improve how they can work better together to ensure nothing like that happened again.
In our care home data protection and information handling with regards to safeguarding children is
taken very seriously. Although we need to keep information on pupils so that we can support their
teaching and learning and so we can report on their progress, all this information is kept on locked
computers in which all care staff have access to. All contact details for children and staff are kept in
the office in a locked cupboard and only the persons who have access to the key can access this data.

Julian Of Halloween Revelations Analysis
Shimul Habib
Professor Marcus Elder
Medieval Theology Texts
6 May 2018
Julian of Norwich was an important Christian mystic and theologian in the fourteenth century. Her
most well know work, Revelations of Divine Love is based on a series of sixteen visions she received
while she was lying on, what was thought at the time, to be her deathbed. Having received these
revelations at a time of great pain for herself, Julian s visions focus on the mysteries of Christianity, in
particular, the vast love of God and the existence of evil. Her constant positive attitude and optimism
while facing unfortunate circumstances really stood out and I will focus on what makes her unique
and this attitude also makes her work more useful.
When Julian of Norwich ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is our clothing that for love, wraps us, embraces us, helps us and enables us and all be closes us,
hangs about us from tender love that he may never leave us . Julian s understanding is that because
God loves humanity, and because he is everything, He will never leave and therefore his love is
forever. She also describes how all things have being, because of three things: The first is that God
made it; The second is that God loves it; The third that God keeps it (84). Nothing would exist if these
things weren t true according to her.
In her Revelations of Divine Love Julian shows great understanding and kindness in how she views
God and the divine. She sees God as one who delights in his creation and who is thankful to us for our
happiness in heaven. This concept is very interesting to me as most other scholars who described our
relations to the God portray humans as simply Gods

to life with the help of an operating system. In the present world, Android and IOS are having the
major mobile operating systems market share in the world.
Android holds a market share of 61.9% in the current US market while Apple`s IOS holds only 32.5%
of share. Internationally android`s market share is even lot better when compared to Apple`s IOS. So
keeping these facts in mind we are inspired to perform big data analytics on tweets related to android

Differences Between The Movie And The Maze Runner
The Maze Runner, written by James Dashner is the first book in the Maze Runner pentalogy. The story
follows the adventures of a sixteen year old boy named Thomas, who finds himself waking up in the
heart of a labyrinth, titled The Glade . As it turns out there are many teenage boys accompanying
Thomas. The aim is to escape from the labyrinth, but this does not go as effortlessly as it sounds, due
to the fact that the labyrinth is constructed by the inexplicable and threatening WICKED (World In
Catastrophe Killzone Experiment Department). At nightfall, the walls of the labyrinth move and
barricade the four entrances of the labyrinth. The walls prevent the boys from being attacked by
creatures called grievers, who walk around the labyrinth every night. Survival intuition, faith and
friendship are some of the themes portrayed in the book. In the film adaptation of The Maze Runner,
there are three highly visible differences in comparison to the book. In the first place, Dashner
delightfully depicts the thought processes of the protagonist in the book, whilst in the film this is not
portrayed at all. Secondly, the time frame of the film is diminished, which makes the story less
plausible. Lastly, the strong characters Dashner developed for the books are nullified in the film
adaptation. Therefore, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

been stung by the grievers and this means he also underwent the Changing. This throws light upon the
question why Gally feels so much hate towards Thomas. Thus, this is clear in the book, in the film this
remains a mystery. Another reason for his changed character is the choice of scenes in the film. In the
film, some scenes that could have caused Gally to create more resentment towards Thomas are
eliminated. For instance, on Thomas s first day, he and Chuck are fooling with him whilst he is in the

It was believed by the public analysts on Reuters and the New York Times that Bridgestone collected
market power with 800 Pep Boys entities and fabricated light auto service expertise in addendum to
that. Pep Boys and Bridgestone both delineate on their corporate indexes that they are acclimated to
the automotive activities of service, maintenance, and repair. The sale of tires, certain percentages of
automotive repair, and equipment are familiar between Bridgestone and Pep Boys and will be
matriculated among the 3,000 locations, which Hitt, Ireland, and Hoskisson would profess is
operational relatedness. Pep Boys and Bridgestone also display corporate relatedness through the
information from IBIS and Bloomberg. Bloomberg asserted that Bridgestone already operates more
than 2,200 tire and automotive centers across the U.S., and the merger will create the world s largest
chain of its kind (Boyden and Clothier, np). It is stated earlier how IBIS discussed that Pep Boys is
labeled as the only national chain offering automotive services, tires, parts and accessories ( Major
Companies, np). Given these two quotations, the core competency of Pep Boys will be attributed to
Bridgestone. Basically, Pep Boys and Bridgestone have intense operational relatedness because of a
degree of market association in the United States, and also have an isolated amount of corporate
relatedness through Pep Boy s core

Character Analysis Of Edgar Allan Poe s The Black Cat
Nirmalsinh Darbar Dr. Leanne Groeneveld English 100 06 November 2017 Edgar Allan Poe s The
Black Cat An unnamed narrator is describing the story. The narrator in the story is first person who is
a male. We know the narrator is a first person because he uses pronouns like I, and me. So, the
narrator is obviously a first person narrator and he is also the focalizing character because he is talking
about things that he did or things happened to him, rather than things he watched or heard about. Thus
we are encouraged to experience the events of the story on basis of description by the narrator because
no person can tell lie when he know he is going to die soon as the narrator was going to be hanged the
next day after telling this story. So as narrator stated he wanted to unburden his soul from this sin of
murder of his wife. Many of the Poe narrators are trustworthy but this one seems to be unreliable
because he gives a reason for doubting him because in the very beginning he said that he don t expects
that reader would believe him and not even ask to believe. If we try to figure out what the truth is then
we can be puzzled out. So, instead of checking for the truth the reader have no choice left other than
knowing him to be truthful. The more we carefully read the description, the more Nirmal 2 is clarity of
the event obtained. If we don t pay attention at the details, we might get trapped in web of words
created by narrator. For instance, the man abuses his wife

Lesser Developed Countries
Paul Collier is the author of The Bottom Billion a 2007 book about Lesser Developed Countries
(LDCs) and why they struggle to progress despite vast amounts of foreign aid. Collier makes the
argument that while much of LDCs are becoming wealthier, this isn t the case in Africa and Central
Asia who is stuck due to four development traps. Seventy percent of the bottom billion is in Africa.
According to Collier, the first trap is the conflict trap. He claims that 73% in the bottom billion are in
or have been in a war like conflict, almost always an internal civil war. Countries with high rates of
poverty are more likely to break out in civil war and the war itself lowers incomes, therefore
perpetuating the problem. This is partly due to the large amount of available young men who are out
of work and ready for a rebellion and due to the weakness of the state, this becomes quite easy. The
longer a country is at war, more actors become involved due to the potential of profiting of it. A civil
war also increases the risk of future conflicts and according to Collier it is development in reverse.
Economic loss and disease do not stop when the fighting does. Furthermore, during conflict, political
rights disappear and almost all of the world s hard drugs come from these areas due to little law
enforcement. Low income, slow growth, and commodity export dependence make up the top three
attributes of a high civil war risk country, which is hard to live down after it begins, since

The Rise in the Divorce Rate Essay
The topic that I have chosen to do my research on is the rise in the divorce rate. The reason I have
chosen this topic is because I myself have recently been through a divorce. I think everyone by now
has heard that fifty percent of marriages now a days end in divorce. So after going through a divorce
myself I would like to know why that is. Today 59% of the population is married down from 62% in
1990 and 72% in 1970. One of the first things I looked at was the average length of a marriage. I
found that that average length of first marriages that end in divorce for males is 7.8 years and 7.9 for
females. I found that interesting since my marriage lasted a little over seven years. A few other

although many people who divorce have successful subsequent marriages, the divorce rate of
remarriages is in fact higher than that of first marriages. Myth number 2. Living together before

many studies have found that those who live together before marriage have a considerably higher
chance of eventually divorcing. The reasons for this are not well understood. In part, the type of
people who are willing to cohabit May also be those who are more willing to divorce. There is some
evidence that the act of cohabitation itself generates attitudes in people that are more conducive to
divorce, for example the attitude that relationships are temporary and easily can be ended. Myth
number 3. : Divorce may cause problems for many of the children, who are affected by it, but by and

Dead Sea Srolls Study Guide
1. What are some methodological issues scholars encounter studying the Hebrew Bible and the
histories of ancient Israel?
There are so many different variations of the same text that the story cannot be aligned with assurance
for some scholars. There are different perspectives regarding the same stories in history, therefore they
have been separated into their own collections of literature; such as canonization and biblical text
recognized by different sects. Not all of the Hebrew Bible was written in Hebrew, in fact, some of the
scriptures were written in Aramaic. Scholars also run into the issue with sources by means of
interpretation and preservation. Primary sources like the Dead Sea Scrolls are easier to extract
information from rather than archeological artifacts that are likely to be open to interpretation.
2. What do multiple canons and collections of texts tell us about canonization? Why do scholars
consider canonization a process, not a moment? What is the significance of the Dead Sea Scrolls and
what do they tell us about textual traditions during the Second Temple period?
The canon books were prized text that was held in high regards to wisdom and history of the culture.
The content of these books was from the laws of Moses to the birth and death of humanity and all that
was in between, about a three thousand year timeframe. The preservation of these scriptures including

Marie Sklodowska Research Paper
Marie Sklodowska, also known as Marie Curie, was born on November 7, 1867, in Warsaw, Poland.
She was the youngest in a family of five children. Both of her parents were teachers, and she took
after her father, who taught physics and math. Sadly, when she was ten, her mother died from
tuberculosis.
While Marie was a top student at her secondary school, she was not able to attend a university in
Poland because they were for men only. Nevertheless, she was so determined to learn that, instead of
giving up, she went to the floating university which was a set of informal classes held in secret. She
wanted to travel abroad to obtain an official degree, but her family could not afford it.

When working with uranium, she discovered that the rays stayed constant no matter what condition

then abandoned his own studies in order to help his wife with her research on these rays.
When working with the mineral pitchblende in 1898, they discovered the element Polonium, which is

grabbed the attention of the science community, and this led to the Curies winning the Nobel Prize in

Essay on Benjamin Franklin Gender Roles
Gender and the Age of Reason
In these two books, we have the story of a young man coming of age and finding success in the world
and the story of a young woman coming of age and failing to do so. In either book, what gender roles
prevailed?
In The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin, we are reading the path that one man took to go from a
middle class child to a well respected adult. Benjamin Franklin created what we know today as the
American dream. Today we understand the American dream to be that one can go from rags to riches

Benjamin Franklin is known as a political figure and scientist/inventor. Learning the importance of
debate at such a young age clearly served him in great and many ways. Benjamin Franklin spent his
teen years practicing his writing. In 1720, James started a newspaper known as the New England
Courant. According to Franklin, this was the second newspaper in America. Franklin worked as a
delivery boy and would publish his own writings anonymously. Franklin often disputed politics and
books with another bookish lad by the name of John Collins. One of their arguments speaks directly
about the female gender during the 1700 s. A question was once, somehow or other, started between
Collins and me, of the propriety of educating the female sex in learning, and their abilities for study.

Planning Policies On Social Life
Planning policies on Social Life in Cities
For year s urban policy and strategy has been dominated by thinking about the physical city: landmark
architecture, transport, housing, urban development, and increasingly the technological infrastructure
to create smarter, more productive, and greener cities. Clearly social issues like health, education,
employment and public safety matter to city leaders but policy and public services deal with people in
the abstract rather than the particular, which is why so often, plans diverge from reality in
unpredictable and unintended ways. The social life of cities, in particular the ordinary, the small scale
and mundane aspects of urban life, are commonly overlooked as a source of insight and inspiration for
city planners and decision makers.
Looking at the everyday life of city streets and neighborhoods provides a perspective on cities, social
change and the radical variety of urban life, that is dramatically different to thinking about the city as
an intelligent network or transport system with predefined ideas about how people will behave that is
more of how the social planning do. Social planning is the process by which policymakers legislators,
government agencies, planners, and, often, funders try to solve community problems or improve
conditions in the community by devising and implementing policies intended to have certain results.
These policies may take the form of laws, regulations, incentives, media campaigns,

manner and helps appease the pain that one has endured. Every blues song produced is a symbol of
past experiences of the writer of the song and its performer. This allows each song to be uniquely
impactful. Many blues songs used racial inequality as a common theme because many black
Americans were suffering from this in their daily lives. The following songs were structured to help
raise support to put an end to the racial inequality that occurred. First, we talk about James Brown s
Say it Loud ( I m Black and I m Proud) . As the title suggests, this song is about black pride. Brown
was a leader in the black community, and encouraged his people to stand up for their rights. The 60 s
were a tumultuous time for race relations in America, and this song became an anthem for the black
power movement. I feel this song is a representation of blues music because James Brown uses this
song for a more than just entertainment. He uses it as an inspiration to help black Americans to rise

The Last Judgement Tympanum At St-Lazare Analysis
The Last Judgment tympanum at Saint Lazare is also incredibly significant due to the fact that no
other tympanum from the Romanesque is so boldly and recognizably claimed by the artist. In the
middle of the composition is the phrase Gislebertus hoc fecit , which roughly translates to Gislebertus
made this and serves as the alleged artist s signature. As mentioned previously, few of the large
stoneworks from this era can be directly linked to a specific person. The signature left behind at Saint
Lazare can be easily interpreted as a big display of artistic confidence, a quality more frequently seen
from master artists of the Renaissance and onward. During this period, Romanesque sculptures
attached to architecture were relegated in status to secondary importance to stonemasons, and the
tympanums were seen as very separate objects. By placing his signature here, Gislebertus claims the
piece as his own work and firmly establishes himself as an artist rather than simply a sculptor. There
are historians who question whether the signature left behind is actually indicative of patronage rather
than the artist responsible for it; a patron placing themselves within a piece ... Show more content on

Chaucer s Pandarus And Foucault s Theory Of Power

Chaucer s Pandarus and Foucault s Theory of Power 2319 Words 10 Pages
If Geoffrey Chaucer for some unforeseen reason was unable to published The Canterbury Tales, then
perhaps, his version of Troilus and Criseyde would be widely acknowledged as one of his most epic
tragic poems. However, Chaucer s poem, though adapted widely into various modern translations, for
the sake of this paper the translation by Barry Windeatt will be used, the tale s influential go between
is still a character trope used today. In fact, the romantic entanglements that the main characters find
themselves in are the results of the power structure established by the go between Pandarus. From the
first instance where Pandarus witnesses his friend Troilus s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In fact, Pandarus is the character that upholds the courtly love power structure within the tale, because
Pandarus is interested in the social interactions of the different characters. Additionally, Pandarus uses
his position as Troilus friend in order to gain power from the social situation that arises, where Troilus
befallen with love sickness needs an advisor to aide in his conquest of a lady.
Therefore, Pandarus becomes the go between because he derives power from the ability to position
individuals in complex and strategic social structures in order to maintain the courtly love notions. In
fact, as Schoeck deduces, Courtly love is sensual...Courtly love is illicit and, for the most part,
adulterous. Indeed, in the courtly system marriage has no place (4). Thus, Pandarus reiterating the
meaning of his name in Chaucer s text by establishing is position of power through being the go
between for Troilus and Criseyde, acknowledges that the dishonor of his niece is not his concern
because, Courtly love was exalted under the system as a virtue, which ennobled those who practiced
the art (Schoeck 6). Therefore, Pandarus did not view his act to bring the two lovers as a means to
subvert the honor of his niece Criseyde, but rather saw that the social relations of the individual is one
of the most important components of political change (Hartsock

Why Is It Important To Be Taught In Schools
Students are not being taught good character in school. Students need to be taught character and
participate in clubs to grow their characteristics. Character needs to be taught in schools so that the
students can learn how they are supposed to act or behave. Schools are not teaching their students
character and they are growing up to be immature adults. Parents want what is best for their children
and that is for them to be well educated and behaved. This is important because students are not
behaving well or focusing on doing their work. This causes them to fail or get close to failing.
Students are also rude to other students and that is one thing that a character class may help. Character
is important and should be taught in all schools. Meanwhile, schools should create clubs to grow
characteristics. KIPP is a charter school system that implemented an approach to character education.
The text says that essential traits of mind and habit referred to as character , should be taught because
some schools have begun to foster their students. Reading clubs are spilling ... Show more content on

Many people today that feel that public schools are, at least in part, responsible for providing students
with the education in areas such as morality, ethics, and the good citizenship they need to know. At
this point, character education programs have been created. Most public schools do not have character
education programs, therefore the students that are enrolled in public schools are not learning
character. Answering the call, numerous character education programs have been created by private
organizations, state and local school boards, and corporations that have designed curricula, created
lessons, and provide the tools necessary for schools to provide character education to their students.
Schools are slowly adding character programs to their school to provide the students with an education

Abstract
This research paper will describe a variety of delinquency prevention programs as well as why they
are beneficial for today?s society. Pivotal questions regarding the purpose of delinquency programs
will be addressed through proven and current research. These programs when coupled with increased
parental involvement are proven to be more effective. In my research, studies will also show that
mentorship and positive reinforcement are the two most effective factors for rehabilitation after
completion of these programs.
In today?s society, there is an alarming new trend of more and more adolescents becoming juvenile
delinquents, and at an earlier age than previous years. This trend is mostly male dominant but also
contain its female offenders. Researchers have studied a number of reasons, topics, and causes for the
increasing trend of juvenile delinquency in adolescents and have come to a wide range of conclusions
and presumptions based on their research. In these studies researchers looked at a number of topics
and questions; what is the definition of juvenile delinquency? What are the current/ recent youth
criminology rates and demographics? What are the origins of juvenile delinquency? What are the
parental influences on juvenile delinquency? What are the external influences on juvenile

Free College Should Not Be Free
When a child turns 5, they are required to start going to school until they turn 18, which is when they
graduate high school. From the point of graduating high school, there is a pressure on students to go to
college and get a degree. This is relevant today because most graduates from high school go to straight
college to get the career they strive for. Colleges should be free because it causes more focus on
education, most careers require a college degree and provide new opportunities for children.
College should not be free all because taxes would go through the roof and would create a vicious
cycle of fighting for careers between people. With making college free for everyone, ... taxes will go
up and all property owners whether they have college age children or not will, in fact, pay for the free
college (Norton). There s no way America could survive with taxes going higher. With taxes going up,
once you get out of college and find a job you start paying free college taxes even though you already
finished college. Other problem with college being free, there will be people getting the same degree
as each other, which would lead to them to fighting for the same career. This can lead to many people
being out of a career and create an outspread of people going back to college to study a different major
to start a different career path, but this creates a cycle. But with that being said free college provides
great opportunities for children to get the education they

Analysis Of Last Hope For Peace At Brooklyn s Big Party
In the article Last Hope for Peace at Brooklyn s Big Party written by the Editorial Board of The New
York Times, the main focus is whether or not Brooklyn s city officials can run the annual celebration
of Caribbean Culture named, J ouvert, without a casualty. The writer uses a few techniques to get their
argument across such techniques consist of title, imagery, and more. The writer is not one person but,
it is rather The Editorial Board at the New York Times. The writer s argument works effectively by
providing evidence from previous celebrations of J ouvert, fatal altercations during the event are
bound to occur no matter what precautions officials make to prevent them.
The first technique the author uses to support his argument is the title. The title of the article is Last
Hope for Peace at Brooklyn s Big Party. By using this title, the author draws readers in by making
them feel as if the topic is of high importance. The author accomplishes this by his word choice and is
localizing the article to an area such as Brooklyn. By doing so, the author draws people s attention in
because Brooklyn is a very renowned area. He also shows his standpoint on the issue by using the
words Last Hope , which is a very negative way of looking at an issue and shows the author has an
opposing un optimistic view/standpoint. By using the words Last Hope , the author is able to convey a
subliminal message to the reader that there is something wrong that needs fixing and if this

Genetic Cluster Number Of Genetic Clusters
2.5 Number of genetic clusters
To infer genetic cluster number (K) in our sample set, we used two Bayesian approaches based on the
clustering method which differed in that they: a) incorporate or not a null allele model, and b) use a
non spatial or spatial algorithm. We selected this approach because Bayesian models capture genetic
population structure by describing the genetic variation in each population using a separate joint
posterior probability distribution over loci. First, we used STRUCTURE v.2.3.3 (Falush et al., 2003;
Pritchard et al., 2000), which does not incorporate a null allele model, but uses a non spatial model
based on a clustering method and it is able to quantify the individual genome proportion from each
inferred population. A previous run had been carried out to define what ancestry models (i.e. no
admixture model and admixture model) and allele frequency models (i.e. correlated and uncorrelated
allele frequency models) fit our dataset. All these previous runs were conducted with locality
information prior to improving the detection of structure when this could be weak (Hubisz et al.,
2009). Run parameters of previous simulations included five runs with 50,000 iterations following a
burn in period of 5,000 iterations for K = 1 10 as number of tested clusters. Before choosing models to
run our dataset we evaluated Evanno s index ΔK (Evanno et al., 2005), to identify whether different
models yielded different K values, implemented in STRUCTURE HARVESTER

Contractuality As A Means Of Conformity Analysis
reveal that we are more likely to conform when we are made to feel incompetent or insecure, are in a
group with at least three people, are in a group in which everyone else agrees, admire the group status
and so on (Myers DeWall, 2014). In essence, it means that in order to break from the accepted norm, it
would mean to slow things down for others. If you find yourself walking down a crowded street and
suddenly everyone drops down, almost certainly your first impulse is to drop down along with them
although with a delayed response. The cost for a person to drop down with the crowd unexpectedly
certainly outweighs the potential danger that is implied. There are many ways an individual can find
themselves in a situation to conform. To conform ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Muzafer Sherif saw this as a situation in which an individual can be influenced by suggestion. To
ready his experiment, he first placed participants individually inside a dark room and had them
approximate the distance the light traveled. Consistently these participants, individually, came up with
the approximation of 2 6 inches (Dewy, 2007). When the next round of the experiment came, Sherif
placed participants with others effectively creating a group. As the participants reanalyzed the light,
their perception eventually became aligned with the others in the room to more of an average of 4
inches (Dewy, 2007). For the final installment, the participants were again individually placed into a
room by themselves and asked to reanalyze the light. The participants who were previously exposed to
the group setting and had a fixed notion that the light was moving 2 inches now concluded that the
light moved 4 inches (Dewy, 2007). The participants had conformed to the group norms instead of
what they really though. The participants desire to conform was strong that they increased their
conformities to fit into the group.
Conclusion
Cognitive dissonance is when we try to limit and reduce our feeling of discomfort when two opposing
thoughts clash (Myers DeWall, 2014). This often involves human individuality and conformity.

Airline Pricing And The Game Of Yield Management
Airline Pricing and the Game of Yield Management
For the past few decades, the airlines are looking for the possibility to improve their yield
management to maximize their profit. In order to achieve it, they have started to develop the yield
management analysis, to understand the best time to sell the flight tickets with higher or lower prices,
so, helping them to decide properly.
How can airline companies improve their yield management in order to increase their profit without
demand analysis? According to the OpenStax College, economists have defined the term demand as
the amount of some good or service consumers are willing and able to purchase at each price . . . [and]
based on needs and wants . . . [and] based on an ability to pay (2014, Demand for Goods and Services
section, para. 1). Thus, is possible to consider the demand analysis as a useful tool which airline
companies can adopt to fully understand the main microeconomic aspects that are being affected by
the behavior of their customers and also, their final results.
This paper intends to examine whether the elasticity of demand plays a role in profit maximization,
whether the practice of business behavior pricing is reflected in the principles, and how price
discrimination helps airline companies to reach their objective in profit maximization.
A way to comprehend the connection between the elasticity of demand and the profit maximization, it
is needed first to conceptualize the demand in terms of economic

both houses soon escalated into a full blown battle comprising not only of the aforementioned

authors have tried to express their thoughts. Each poet utilizes tone, rhythm, meter, etc. to turn an

Nullification Theory Of Nullification
The theory of Nullification is no more than people not getting what they want. Andrew Jackson,
former president, vetoed twelve congressional bills. Citizens thought he was willing to transform the
country into a monarchy. Because of how he took charge of the Nullification crisis in South Carolina,
there was no doubt that Jackson only wanted the best for the people. He always thought that the
president should represent all of the people, and he did when he used all of his presidential powers to
warn the nullifiers to stop (Shi and Tindall 438).
Meanwhile, John Calhoun, former vice president, did not like how Andrew Jackson was handling the
economy in his home state, South Carolina. An awful depression had increased since 1819, and South
Carolina suffered all throughout the 1920s because of the cotton prices (Shi and Tindall 438). South
Carolina lost almost 70,000 people during the collapse that lasted almost 10 years, this happened
because residents wanted to spend less money on growing their cotton, more people would eventually
leave by 1930 with this disaster happening.
The tariff of 1828, also known as Tariff of Abomination, had the southerners wondering if that was the
problem after all. By taxing British cloth coming into U.S. markets, the tariff hurt southern cotton
growers by reducing British demand for raw cotton from America. (Shi and Tindall 439). The debate
was that the north and the south were having different needs to make their economy a successful one;

Cultural Changes During The Classical Civilization
History is often a term that comes up with reference to the Classical Civilization. Although, history by
definition is the study of past events, history defines and set a tone for the societies that grew and
developed over time. Throughout the early struggles in time, the concept of change brought about
many problems as well as solutions. During the Classical Civilization, civilization like Rome,China,
and the Greece experienced prosperity, as a result leading to the demise of certain aspects of the
society. In addition, Rome, China, and Greece impact on trade influenced the development of the early
societies with varying degrees in success.
Trade encouraged the influx in prosperity and trade in China. In other words, trade was major aspect
of the early Chinese society as it made up majority of Chinese economy. For example, the Silk Road
located in China enabled for trade to happen from Asia to Europe. As stated by the National
Geographic, The Silk Road allowed for trade goods such as silk, cloth and clothing, as well as spices
to spread from China to India, Arabia, Persia, Egypt, and extended all the way to Europe. This Silk
Road not only increased the trades occurring in the Ancient World but it also allow Chinese products
to permeate throughout. This trade in China and its connection to the silk road also encourage means
of cultural diffusion. Trade goods produced in China were cloth and clothing, spices, and silk as stated

In the short story, The lottery, by Shirley Jackson there was a city that stoned the person who won the

main reason that they stone the people to death is for religious purposes and for human sacrifice to the

On page 22 and on page 23 Mr. Adams informs Mr. Warner that some places have already quit the
lottery, these consist of the north village and other places. Mr. Warner replied back by calling them
fools. According to him there is only trouble for people who quit the lottery, in his mind nothing good
would come out of that. Page 16 explained how their was a lot of ritual, and how they people of the

The Music Of The Musical Life
After his retiring from the public musical life, at the height of his career (his last opera is dated 1829),
the Maestro lived enough to see a new fruitful creative period in his old age. From 1857 on, he wrote
pieces of chamber music far several instrumental formations and had them performed at Parisian
musical soirées. He, however, thought their publication unadvisale as if they were sins of his old age,
Péchés de vieillesse. Really they are a collection of Salonmusik : a quite original one of sublime
quality, written with humour and refiniment but full of genuine emotion and wanting in any trace of
sentimentalism, too. However the light and ironic relation Rossini had with musical conventions did
not preclude him tram facing new expressive forms. Several years later, some characteristics of this art
are still present in the miniatures by Erik Satie. Un Mot à Paganini (Elégie), for violin and piano, and
Une Larme, Thème et Variations for cello and piano (both compositions are still waiting far their
publication) are certainly the gems of this recording. At the beginning of Un Mot à Paganini, a short
motive is insistely propounded by piano, as a kind of sigh constantly repeated and developed
contrapuntally by figurations of violin, having similar expressive purposes. During the melodic
repetitive modulation of piano, there is a moment a harmonic metamorphosis is proposed in: the above
mentioned characteristics of an unconventional way of preceeding reveal themselves just

Market Soft Case study
Situation:
MarketSoft founded by Greg Erman, in 1999 had designed an innovative software product that
addressed the problem of managing sales leads across the extended enterprise . The product eLeads
was strategically developed upon extensive research to address three critical areas many of the fortune
1000 companies in the modern times are facing: 1.Leads get lost 2. No qualifying systems for the
leads exist and 3.The leads are never tracked.
Problems:
1. The entire product was built based on customer needs that were identified by querying an extensive
network of sales and marketing industry professionals. While MarketSoft used an elaborate LP
language to ensure that what they heard translated to all of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The obvious benefit of targeting this particular blue chip market segment as addressed in the second
problem could be both monetary and that a greater number of market leads can be fed into the
software when mining a larger market and could lead to minimization of the confidence interval error
ratio. However mid size markets and companies who are players in this segment should not be
ignored. The problem in ignoring them is that MarketSoft is leaving a large segment of the market
unattended and these mid level companies have a potential to grow into larger corporations. By
ignoring this market segment MarketSoft will essentially have lost an opportunity to have developed a
future clientele base
Recommendation:
Problem 1 can be addressed by following the open ended questions with specific targeted questions
that would allow focused answering, leading to better data mining which will help zero in on exactly
what the need is and ultimately help refine the product characteristics with more finesse.
A suitable recommendation to address the second problem is that these middle markets should also be
targeted and the software should be refined to cater to these current needs with an ability to expand
along with the client s business needs. To make MarketSoft accessible to also companies that

John Brown And Thomas Cobb
There are several theories of racism and slavery but a few of them are universally accepted. Two
universally accepted theories has been mentioned and discussed in this work along with the influences
of each of them over other and upon the society. The comparison, understanding and contrast of these
theories of John Brown and Thomas Cobb has been elaborated completely.
The research done in this paper is all about the compassion and contrast in the two ideologies of
racism and slavery. The theories of John Brown and Thomas Cobb has been discussed along with the
description of the nationalism of the Gellner and its significant part in the sectional differences. The
ideas of the Lincoln in the second inaugural as well as the Gettysburg ... Show more content on

Proslavery supporters, for example, Cobb, vehemently demanded the equity and ethical quality the
crucial rightness of subjection. Cobb accepted that racially based servitude was an essential for a
genuinely republican equality in light of the fact that just in such a framework were all whites
equivalent in status, paying little heed to their riches, property, or station in life . Consequently, as
indicated by Cobb, racially based subjugation permitted all white nationals of the country to soak up
flexibility with their mother s milk. Under Cobb s perspective of the world, servitude was most
certainly not an insidiousness, yet a positive decent that saved American freedom, and without
servitude, opportunity in America would be undermined.
Yet, Cobb additionally realized that the North, and in fact the vast majority of the rest of the Western
world, accepted subjection was on a very basic level wrong and unethical. In this manner, one of Cobb
s objectives in his Inquiry was to persuade legal counselors outside the South that bondage was steady
with American law, great open arrangement, Christian ethical quality, and the regular request of
things. Cobb did not simply team up with an arrangement of malevolence, he strived to recast the very
thought of shrewd to expel subjugation from inside its definition.
To comprehend Cobb and other proslavery legitimate scholars, legal advisors furthermore judges, it is
imperative to first consider the curious nature of

Victor Wooten Redefines The Word Musician
Victor Wooten redefines the word musician. Regaled as the most influential bassist since Jaco
Pastorius, Victor is known for his solo recordings and tours, and as a member of the Grammy winning
supergroup, Béla Fleck The Flecktones. He is an innovator on the bass guitar, as well as a talented
composer, arranger, producer, vocalist and multi instrumentalist. But those gifts only begin to tell the
tale of this Tennessee titan.
Victor is the loving husband and devoted father of four; the youngest sibling of the amazing Wooten
brothers (Regi, Roy, Rudy and Joseph), and the bassist in their famed family band; the student in the
martial art of Wing Chun and the nature survival skill of Tracking; the teacher of dozens of Bass

With the Flecktones in full flight, Victor set his sights on a solo career, first forming Bass Extremes
with fellow low end lord Steve Bailey (leading to an instructional book/CD and two CDs, to date), and
finally releasing his critically acclaimed solo debut, A Show of Hands, in 1996. Soon after, Vic took
his solo show on the road with drummer J.D. Blair. Momentum and accolades built with successive
tours and the release of What Did He Say? in 1997, the Grammy nominated Yin Yang in 1999 and the
double CD, Live In America in 2001.
Wooten won two Nashville Music Awards for Bassist Of The Year and is the only three time winner of
Bass Player magazine s Bass Player Of The Year. With the honors came sideman calls, leading to
recordings and performances with artists like Branford Marsalis, Mike Stern, Bruce Hornsby, Chick
Corea, Dave Matthews, Prince, Gov t Mule, Susan Tedeschi, Vital Tech Tones (with Scott Henderson
and Steve Smith), the Jaco Pastorius Word Of Mouth Big Band, and the soundtrack of the Disney film
Country Bears, not to mention the stellar work with guitarist Greg Howe and Dennis Chambers with
the group Howe Wooten and Chambers.
Fresh off sold out tours with the Flecktones and Bass Extremes (with Bailey, Watson and Oteil

Ratio decidendi forms a binding precedent which means that in future cases it has to be followed which contain the same principles. • 3. Biography of Booker T. Washington Booker T. Washington is a famous African American educator, author, civil rights activist, and philanthropist who is from Virginia (Wells). He is the man that promoted African American to rise above their status of trying to be equal with Caucasians by promoting education and economic self determination. Washington s life serves as an example of his philosophy or belief due to his experience of knowing where African Americans started after the Civil War, where they were headed, and resulted in changing their course to successful life. Booker T. (Taliaferro) Washington was born in Franklin County, Virginia on April 5, 1865. He was born an interracial baby to Jane Ferguson. He white father, who he never knew, was suspected to have lived on a nearby farm (Smock, 3). He was born a slave and was owned by the Burroughs family. The cabin that he was born was considered a rectangular box of 16 by 14 feet and served as kitchen where his mother cooked for his family and the Burroughs family. This cabin, known as Booker T. Washington National Monument, is still preserved can be visited and toured to day in Franklin County, Virginia. His childhood was not filled with play but rather labor (Smock, 18). As a young child, four or five, he would do little chores, including fetching items and operating a fan to keep the flies away from the food. • 4. Analysis Of Alice Munro s How I Met My Husband How I Met My Husband by Alice Munro is a short story about Edie, a fifteenth year old girl, who works at Dr. Peebles and Mrs.Peebles house taking care of their children, cleaning the house, preparing the vegetables and occasionally baking desserts. One day they heard a plane pass by, and they ran into the yard to look. Their neighbor Loretta Bird mentioned that the plane was close to hitting their house and began to talk about the plane. She also specified that the pilot received permission to use the fairgrounds and give residents rides to see the neighborhood from above. The next day when Edie finished her tasks early, she sometimes would look at Mrs. Peebles clothes and even tried on a dress and put makeup on. She headed to the kitchen to drink ginger ale and gets startled by a man, named Chris Watters, standing outside the door. He mentions he s the pilot of the plane and asks if he can obtain some water from the pump. He complimented and thanked her and left to the pump. After she rushed to take off the dress and wash her face before Mrs. Peebles arrived to the house. Mrs. Peebles commenced to ask questions about the man, but Edie contemplated on becoming fired if the man revealed how she dressed. After the Dr. and Mrs. Peebles departed to the theater, Edie ensured the children were sleeping then headed outside. • 5. Perception And Scale Are Permanently Bonded As human beings it sometimes appears that we are subject to our psychology as opposed to having control over it. Almost every decision we make, every thought that crosses our minds, every emotion that affects us has been created by an invisible process by our brain, a brain that doesn t feel the need to explain its reasoning to us. Whether or not God exists, it is clear that we are beholden to forces we do not, and can not control. This was something I felt more than ever in our past couple weeks of humanities. In this time I learned that perception and scale are permanently bonded. It is only by coming to grips with scale up close, and far away that we may find balance in our perspective. We need to see things from far away to understand them, but it is by looking at them up close that we make them feel human and real. Without either of these perspectives we stunt our potential understanding as learners, as thinkers, and as people who understand what it means to be alive as humans. It is sometimes hard to see the point of looking at things up close. Why would we deliberately miss so much of the picture by focusing on just one small piece of it? I believe that an up close viewpoint is important to maintain to prevent psychic numbing and to maintain the humanity of events that we have no direct connection with. When learning about the history of the universe and of life zooming out too much can prevent you from empathizing with people from history. We have a tendency as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Women s Rights, Power, And Equal Ability Essay When people celebrate Mother s Day, what do they mean and thanking their mother for everything? Do they mean that mother has given them life then sacrificed herself to raising children? Or do they mean that mother has had her own dreams and achievements and has become a pattern for her children? Do they thank their mother for a happy childhood or for strong character and traits which help them be successful? Our society during human history has looked upon the male as the breadwinner: who is expected to work and support the family. At the same time the mother has been viewed as the nurturer: who gives birth to children, stays home, feeds and raises them. Step by step women wanted more rights, power, and equal ability. In the 20 century women were given these rights and could finally seek jobs outside of the home. A lot of questions appeared when women needed to leave their children with someone to care while mother working. Mother s absence from home for whole day leads to new values which not include in the mother s primary role in building ethical standards of her children. New generations have value s system that can be formed by not family members, but from strangers, day care, school, and now from the Internet. Lack of personal control from mother now is not an issue because working woman can afford others to perform this control. Julian Of Halloween Revelations Analysis Shimul Habib Professor Marcus Elder Medieval Theology Texts 6 May 2018 Julian of Norwich was an important Christian mystic and theologian in the fourteenth century. Her most well know work, Revelations of Divine Love is based on a series of sixteen visions she received while she was lying on, what was thought at the time, to be her deathbed. Having received these revelations at a time of great pain for herself, Julian s visions focus on the mysteries of Christianity, in particular, the vast love of God and the existence of evil. She also describes how all things have being, because of three things: The first is that God made it; The second is that God loves it; The third that God keeps it (84). Nothing would exist if these things weren t true according to her. In her Revelations of Divine Love Julian shows great understanding and kindness in how she views God and the divine. • 10. Differences Between The Movie And The Maze Runner The Maze Runner, written by James Dashner is the first book in the Maze Runner pentalogy. The story follows the adventures of a sixteen year old boy named Thomas, who finds himself waking up in the heart of a labyrinth, titled The Glade . As it turns out there are many teenage boys accompanying Thomas. The aim is to escape from the labyrinth, but this does not go as effortlessly as it sounds, due to the fact that the labyrinth is constructed by the inexplicable and threatening WICKED (World In Catastrophe Killzone Experiment Department). At nightfall, the walls of the labyrinth move and barricade the four entrances of the labyrinth. The walls prevent the boys from being attacked by creatures called grievers, who walk around the labyrinth every night. Survival intuition, faith and friendship are some of the themes portrayed in the book. In the film adaptation of The Maze Runner, there are three highly visible differences in comparison to the book. In the first place, Dashner delightfully depicts the thought processes of the protagonist in the book, whilst in the film this is not portrayed at all. Secondly, the time frame of the film is diminished, which makes the story less plausible. Lastly, the strong characters Dashner developed for the books are nullified in the film adaptation. • 13. Character Analysis Of Edgar Allan Poe s The Black Cat Nirmalsinh Darbar Dr. Leanne Groeneveld English 100 06 November 2017 Edgar Allan Poe s The Black Cat An unnamed narrator is describing the story. The narrator in the story is first person who is a male. We know the narrator is a first person because he uses pronouns like I, and me. So, the narrator is obviously a first person narrator and he is also the focalizing character because he is talking about things that he did or things happened to him, rather than things he watched or heard about. Thus we are encouraged to experience the events of the story on basis of description by the narrator because no person can tell lie when he know he is going to die soon as the narrator was going to be hanged the next day after telling this story. So as narrator stated he wanted to unburden his soul from this sin of murder of his wife. Many of the Poe narrators are trustworthy but this one seems to be unreliable because he gives a reason for doubting him because in the very beginning he said that he don t expects that reader would believe him and not even ask to believe. If we try to figure out what the truth is then we can be puzzled out. So, instead of checking for the truth the reader have no choice left other than knowing him to be truthful. The more we carefully read the description, the more Nirmal 2 is clarity of the event obtained. If we don t pay attention at the details, we might get trapped in web of words created by narrator. • 14. Lesser Developed Countries Paul Collier is the author of The Bottom Billion a 2007 book about Lesser Developed Countries (LDCs) and why they struggle to progress despite vast amounts of foreign aid. Collier makes the argument that while much of LDCs are becoming wealthier, this isn t the case in Africa and Central Asia who is stuck due to four development traps. Seventy percent of the bottom billion is in Africa. According to Collier, the first trap is the conflict trap. He claims that 73% in the bottom billion are in or have been in a war like conflict, almost always an internal civil war. Countries with high rates of poverty are more likely to break out in civil war and the war itself lowers incomes, therefore perpetuating the problem. This is partly due to the large amount of available young men who are out of work and ready for a rebellion and due to the weakness of the state, this becomes quite easy. The longer a country is at war, more actors become involved due to the potential of profiting of it. A civil war also increases the risk of future conflicts and according to Collier it is development in reverse. Economic loss and disease do not stop when the fighting does. Furthermore, during conflict, political rights disappear and almost all of the world s hard drugs come from these areas due to little law enforcement. Low income, slow growth, and commodity export dependence make up the top three attributes of a high civil war risk country, which is hard to live down after it begins, since ... Many blues songs used racial inequality as a common theme because many black Americans were suffering from this in their daily lives. The following songs were structured to help raise support to put an end to the racial inequality that occurred. First, we talk about James Brown s Say it Loud ( I m Black and I m Proud) . As the title suggests, this song is about black pride. Brown was a leader in the black community, and encouraged his people to stand up for their rights. The 60 s were a tumultuous time for race relations in America, and this song became an anthem for the black power movement. I feel this song is a representation of blues music because James Brown uses this song for a more than just entertainment. He uses it as an inspiration to help black Americans to rise out of ... • 23. The Last Judgement Tympanum At St-Lazare Analysis The Last Judgment tympanum at Saint Lazare is also incredibly significant due to the fact that no other tympanum from the Romanesque is so boldly and recognizably claimed by the artist. In the middle of the composition is the phrase Gislebertus hoc fecit , which roughly translates to Gislebertus made this and serves as the alleged artist s signature. As mentioned previously, few of the large stoneworks from this era can be directly linked to a specific person. The signature left behind at Saint Lazare can be easily interpreted as a big display of artistic confidence, a quality more frequently seen from master artists of the Renaissance and onward. During this period, Romanesque sculptures attached to architecture were relegated in status to secondary importance to stonemasons, and the tympanums were seen as very separate objects. By placing his signature here, Gislebertus claims the piece as his own work and firmly establishes himself as an artist rather than simply a sculptor. There are historians who question whether the signature left behind is actually indicative of patronage rather than the artist responsible for it; a patron placing themselves within a piece ... However, Chaucer s poem, though adapted widely into various modern translations, for the sake of this paper the translation by Barry Windeatt will be used, the tale s influential go between is still a character trope used today. In fact, Pandarus is the character that upholds the courtly love power structure within the tale, because Pandarus is interested in the social interactions of the different characters. Additionally, Pandarus uses his position as Troilus friend in order to gain power from the social situation that arises, where Troilus befallen with love sickness needs an advisor to aide in his conquest of a lady. Therefore, Pandarus becomes the go between because he derives power from the ability to position individuals in complex and strategic social structures in order to maintain the courtly love notions. In fact, as Schoeck deduces, Courtly love is sensual...Courtly love is illicit and, for the most part, adulterous. Indeed, in the courtly system marriage has no place (4). Thus, Pandarus reiterating the meaning of his name in Chaucer s text by establishing is position of power through being the go between for Troilus and Criseyde, acknowledges that the dishonor of his niece is not his concern because, Courtly love was exalted under the system as a virtue, which ennobled those who practiced the art (Schoeck 6). Students need to be taught character and participate in clubs to grow their characteristics. Character needs to be taught in schools so that the students can learn how they are supposed to act or behave. Schools are not teaching their students character and they are growing up to be immature adults. Parents want what is best for their children and that is for them to be well educated and behaved. This is important because students are not behaving well or focusing on doing their work. This causes them to fail or get close to failing. The author accomplishes this by his word choice and is localizing the article to an area such as Brooklyn. Genetic Cluster Number Of Genetic Clusters 2.5 Number of genetic clusters To infer genetic cluster number (K) in our sample set, we used two Bayesian approaches based on the clustering method which differed in that they: a) incorporate or not a null allele model, and b) use a non spatial or spatial algorithm. We selected this approach because Bayesian models capture genetic population structure by describing the genetic variation in each population using a separate joint posterior probability distribution over loci. First, we used STRUCTURE v.2.3.3 (Falush et al., 2003; Pritchard et al., 2000), which does not incorporate a null allele model, but uses a non spatial model based on a clustering method and it is able to quantify the individual genome proportion from each inferred population. A previous run had been carried out to define what ancestry models (i.e. no admixture model and admixture model) and allele frequency models (i.e. correlated and uncorrelated allele frequency models) fit our dataset. All these previous runs were conducted with locality information prior to improving the detection of structure when this could be weak (Hubisz et al., 2009). Run parameters of previous simulations included five runs with 50,000 iterations following a burn in period of 5,000 iterations for K = 1 10 as number of tested clusters. In essence, it means that in order to break from the accepted norm, it would mean to slow things down for others. If you find yourself walking down a crowded street and suddenly everyone drops down, almost certainly your first impulse is to drop down along with them although with a delayed response.
