Preschool Developmental Observation
To complete my Preschool Atypical observation I went to Bruceton Elementary School. While there I
observed a 3 year old boy named Tucker who was diagnosed with High Functioning Autism. Tucker is
a little boy who was born and raised in Preston County, West Virginia and is attending the Preschool
offered at Bruceton Elementary for half a day. He is an only child who speaks only English, both
Tucker s parents are local and have been part of the Bruceton communities for years. I observed
Tucker from 7:30 in the morning till his lunch at 11:30 while he participated in multiple activities
showing off his development in all 5 major areas.

I loved this essay. It was beautifully written, and the voice and reading of it was equally as majestic.
Each time I finished, I felt fuller, enriched. C.S. Peirce s four methods for arriving at beliefs are
tenacity, authority, a priori, and the scientific method. Tenacity reminded me of The Tao of Poo. This
method is the one I most respect. It has a sort of je ne sais quoi, that alludes to an idea that ignorance
is bliss, yet elite among the masses, and therefore perfected by those that use it for the betterment of
society. There is humility amidst this quality and it reveals a design of humanity in the power of
learning and the potential value of embracing many points of view, albeit the tenacity method seems to
not see the forest for the trees or budge from it s idealistic approach. By habit the tenacity method is

During 1992 in South Central Los Angeles, a riot started after the news of four white Los Angeles
police officers beating Rodney King was published on TV. It became daily news. The riot caused
many crimes to occur; participants of the riot burned down business stores, destroyed properties, and

unsatisfied with police brutality and the way their community were being treated. Although the riot
only lasted for about a week, about 52 people were killed (Kivisto and Rundblad 82). The whole
neighborhood were ruined and destroyed. Ever since that riot, there were over 1 million property loss
(Kivisto and Rundblad 82), and over 700 businesses were burned down (Bergesen and Herman para.

after the video of Rodney King being beaten was shown on television, residents of South Central Los

Entering the home of a traditional family, the youngest children are in the living room watching
television, arguing over the channel, as the oldest sibling is their room because they recently got

biodiversity arose with the International Whaling Commission
(IWC), an international body that is set on goals to preserve whale stocks and regulate whaling as to
help various species recover from near endangerment. Most all practices of hunting whales were
banned along the globe but, exceptions were made in cases such as Japan; for alleged scientific
purposes. The focus issues of this paper will stem from the controversy involving whaling,
specifically in Japan, because while they justify their reasons for continued whale hunting, they still

Prejudice is the term referring to the practice of forming an opinion or value of someone or something,

violent behavior, motivated by racial hatred with the malicious intent of injuring a person of another

Luis Barragan is an important architect that has shared his individual influences in many of his
artworks. The biggest influence in Barragan s style of architecture is from his hometown as well as
villages in Mexico. He researched architecture by himself along with experience. In my opinion, it is
important to educate ourselves about multiple architects. So that we can be exposed to multiple styles

Simply due to the fact that it has many elements of his traditional style. The usage of the space is
separated into two levels. Throughout the levels of the house there is rhythm implemented in the
beamed ceiling, that match the oak stairway. The staircase is almost an optical illusion. The areas in
the house that are used the most are the library and the living room.
The library consist of multiple publications, photographs, and personal papers. The shelving in the
library is a good representation of horizontal lines. It stands out in the space and makes it look as if the
space is full. I think the shelving is a point on emphasis in the library, it also makes the viewers eyes
move along the space. Barragan does a good job of controlling the contrast of the geometric shapes
used throughout the spaces.
The influence on the house is mostly Mexican but there are other influences as well. One of the
Mexican influences that stands out to me is his use of color. The vibrant colors he uses in his artwork
are traditional in Mexico. The house consist of the colors orange, pink, yellow,and green, as well as
other neutral colors. The Mexican ceramics and textiles fit the theme of the entire space as
