Reflection Paper On Homelessness And Homelessness
When we were first introduced to this assignment, I was both excited and nervous. I was excited
because it gave me the opportunity to step of my comfort zone. I was also excited to be able to
get out into the community and practice some of the social work skills that we have learned in
class. I was nervous because I knew it would be hard to hear the struggles of a single parent
experiencing homelessness. As someone who was raised by a single parent, I also know how easy
it can be to fall into homelessness. Overall, I think I was more excited about doing this assignment
because I truly did want to hear the stories that single parents experiencing homelessness wanted to
tell.

My thoughts have stayed the same about homelessness; however, I certainly have started to
acknowledge that homelessness is a very real thing. I also try my hardest to recognize that these
individuals are people; therefore, I now make it a point to at least make eye contact with them on
the street.
Social Justice
As I stated before, far too often our society ignores that homelessness is a struggle for many
people. Additionally, our society often thinks these people choose to be homeless. Terra talked
about an incident at a gas station, and how one of the employees at the gas station said all the
people at across the street are drunks and addicts. She talked about how upset she gets when people
have these misconceptions about people that are struggling with homelessness. Hearing her talk
about this broke my heart because our society should not shame people for being homeless; instead,
we should be looking at solutions to end homelessness. It is a human right to have basic human
needs, yet our society continually provokes their unjust agenda.
Our society also tends to ignore domestic violence, which is something that my mother and Terra
both faced. Terra could not get any help with service providers because her children and her were
not in immediate danger; although, Terra certainly knew they were in danger. Social justice is

Who Is Man s Worst Enemy In Macbeth
Man s Worst Enemy
Annika Boehme
Ambition is like water. Humans need it to live but too little will weaken and kill you. Conversely,
too much and you ll drown. (Unknown). Ambition can drive individuals to do prodigious things.
However, when pursued with overconfidence and lust for power, ambition can lead to extreme
actions that can affect oneself and the people around them. In the play Macbeth, Shakespeare
discusses the idea regarding the impact an individual s ambition has on themself and others.
Macbeth was promised or cursed by three witches that he would obtain more power and would one
day be the King of Scotland. Macbeth believed the witches and their foretelling, but to gain this
power and title many events occured that had a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Macbeth heard that he would one day be king, he decided to murder King Duncan in
order to secure that position for himself, after having been encouraged by his wife. With the
curse from the three witches, Macbeth began a domino effect of events in an effort to remain
king, which drove both him and Lady Macbeth crazy as they realized their greed led to their
tragic downfall. This can be seen when Macbeth murdered his friend Banquo and his murderous
deeds came back to haunt them. Not only did these murders have a toll on Macbeth but the
weight of these murders was on Lady Macbeth as well. Following the murder of Banquo, Lady
Macbeth was found sleepwalking and trying to wash her hands of the King s blood. Lo you, here
she comes. This is her very guise; and, upon my life, fast asleep...It is an accustomed action with
her to seem thus washing her hands. (Act 5, scene 1, line 17 18, 26 27). The death of Lady
Macbeth is tragic and it is assumed she committed

Journey Motif Essay
In literature, the Journey is often a metaphor for discovery. The journey motif is used in Coleridge
s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. It is also shown in Hawthorne s My Kinsman, Major Molineux
and Young Goodman Brown. In these stories, each main character changes sometime between the
beginning and the end of the story. In addition, religion plays a part in each of these stories.
Typically, in journey literature the hero encounters several obstacles that he or she must overcome.
In Coleridge s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, the Mariner shows negativity. The Mariners moral
vision is so impaired that his comparisons are persistently pessimistic. This pessimism is seen
repeatedly in the similes that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By this, the Mariner shows the beginning of his attitude change. At this point in the poem, the
Mariner s fate begins to change when he is rescued by a hermit. The Mariner endures tremendous
physical agony and starts to recognize the importance of all living things after his lowest point, the
curse. An example of this is when the spell breaks at the point in which the snakes are blessed. As
he regains a sense of beauty, the Mariner observes the snakes and realizes how beautiful they are.
He begins to see things brightly and the mariner s comparisons and references are less pessimistic
and dark.
Hawthorne s My Kinsman, Major Molineux, Robin s Journey is clear. Robin is on a journey to
find Major Molineux and it is his first journey to town. It is ironic about his shrewd youth; as he
continues his journey, he becomes shrewd. His journey is an acquisition of learning, especially
since he only has the education of a youth. When Robin goes into the tavern, he is guided by a
murmur of voices. He is confident enough when speaking to the innkeeper that he is befitted to be
the Major s relative. Robin doesn t understand parts of his journey with the innkeeper as his guide.
As the story moves on, Robin starts to be less confident and instead, more cautious. Doubt begins to
seep in. Although he feels sympathy, he gives into the opportunities that he has. Robin begins to get
desperate and starts to

Community Organization Intensifies Community Stability and...
Crisis in community is a regular phenomenon. The need for community organizing addressing
community crises is, therefore, evident and perpetual. Bill Lee (2011) suggests that a pragmatic
approach to community organizing intensifies community actions addressing community crises
associated with the problem of inequality, environmental degradation and crises, and economic
instabilities. This paper intends to explore the influences and effects of Pragmatic of Community
organization on innovation and vice versa.
Bill Lee identifies community as a complex notion of the way people live and connect with each
other (Lee, B., 2011, p.20), and defines community organization as a social intervention which seeks
to maximize the ability of oppressed or disadvantaged people to take action and influence their
environment: ..... (Lee B., 2011, p.100). Lee also suggests that a pragmatic community organizing
should have specific objectives that include community participation, sense of community, social
production (Gamble, N. D. Weil, M., 2009, p.123), proper use of appropriate resources, and social
learning in order to achieve community goal focusing upon citizen empowerment (Lee, B., 2011, p.
94).
According to Lee, pragmatic community practice adapts two approaches namely healing or
traditional social work approach, and reformation or structural social work approach (Lee, B.,
2011, p. 77) in order to overcome community crises associated with three perspectives such as:
social,

Beethoven And The Piano In The 1800 s
Beethoven and the Piano
During the late 1700 s and early 1800 s, Beethoven was innovating the world of music through
various compositions. In particular, Beethoven s works for piano revolutionized and innovated the
piano and its performance practices. His compositional works have always been considered to be
some of the best works published, but not everyone realizes just how pivotal his work was in this
point in music history. Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany on December 16th,
1770 to his father, Johann van Beethoven, and mother, Maria Magdalena Keverich. He lived in
Bonn for about 22 years then moved to Vienna after his father passed away due to alcohol misuse.
In Vienna, he was a well known German pianist and composer. His compositional works were well
known for broadening the usage of instrumentation and expanding the boundaries for performance.
Beethoven began to struggle during the later years of his life due to his deafness. He used his
emotions to give meaning to his music, and this music became to be known as some of his most
important works. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whenever Beethoven first moved to Vienna, he was well know for writing sonatas, variations and
other shorter works for piano. Beethoven is also known for drawing a heavy amount of inspiration
from other various famous composers. He even went as far as to dedicate his first three piano
sonatas to Haydn. These three pieces were to pay homage to the older composer s style which he
just embellished upon. Unlike most other piano sonatas, Beethoven included a forth movement
instead of just stopping at three, and rather than having a minuet at the end, the last two ended the
piece with a more dynamic

Capital Punishment Should Be Enforced Throughout The...
Crime is permanent and unchanging. The same can be said for death. It is for this reason that the
death penalty is so effective. The death penalty, also known as capital punishment, is defined as the
execution, or punishment by killing, of a person who has been found guilty of a specific, and
usually serious, crime(Barber). Capital punishmentshould be enforced throughout the United States
because it is a humane tradition that has been practiced for centuries, it deters crime, and it provides
retribution and gives justice to the victimized. The death penalty is a humane practice that has been
going on for centuries, even to Biblical times. Though it has transformed many times from its
ancient ways into modern society, it remains... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For individuals that are not Babylonian in belief, there is also much discussion of the lex
talionis in the pages of Christianity under Exodus: you shall give life for life, eye for eye, tooth
for tooth, hand for hand (Wolf). According to the Bible, the following crimes are cause for death:
contempt, trespassing on holy ground, sorcery, prostitution, idolatry, and adultery. Executions
were held in the colonial age as a way to reflect God s law and keep the order. The Book of
Exodus also sentences murderers to the death penalty: whoever strikes a man a mortal blow must
be put to death (Wolf). The death penalty was incredibly successful in the past, and as human nature
has stayed the same, so should its traditions.
The death penalty has transformed over time to meet modern needs, and is still used in recent
history. This practice has become increasingly humane due to the revisions needed for modern
times. As a result of the Furman v. Georgia case of 1972, many states began to revise and adjust
their capital punishment laws closer to their current state. Florida was first, revising after a short
five months. Furman v. Georgia set standards as to when a method of punishment could be
considered unconstitutional (Espejo). Presently, one can only be subjected to the death penalty
after being found guilty in a proper trial, in accordance with the right to a fair trial by jury.
Executions by non state organizations, such as terrorist groups, are

Dulce Et Est Decorum Essay
Poetry can be dangerous, especially beautiful poetry, because it gives the illusion of having had
the experience without actually going through it. Good evening and welcome to burning poetry,
I m your host Izzy and tonight s topic is based around Wilfred Owens poem Dulce et Est
Decorum. War is often glorified but in reality is a futile and devastating event, Owen explores
this in his poem Dulce et Est decorum. Owens Dulce Est Decorum is a poem that relates to
modern day society through its ability to leave a large impact on the audience. During the years of
1914 to 1918, over nine million people died due to World War
1. Entire cities were demolished and
nations where torn down, only to be reformed throughout political chaos and enough antagonism
for world war 2... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Caught in the middle of all the tragedy that was primarily based in trenches, Owen began to find it
hard to account for all the distress and death he witnessed. Progressively becoming more convinced
that the war seemed to be carrying on past its purpose, Owen began to write poetry that highlighted
the irony of his situation. Owens Dulce et Est decorum explores the true events of war being the
tragedy and suffering that takes place. He points out to the reader that war is definitely not
something to be glorified or praised, and that the real meaning of being proud to fight for your
country, has been taken away.
Poetic devices are tools that a poet can utilize to create rhythm, enhance a poems meaning, or
reinforce a mood or feeling. Dulce et Est decorum by Wilfred Owen enhances the real life effects
and devastation that war leaves on people. The psychology behind the everyday battle that
veterans of war face, has been misunderstood by society. This mental state controls these peoples
lives on a daily basis. Owen s poem is four stanzas of outlining the horrific events he

Functional Genomic Analysis of C. elegans Using RNA...
Introduction
Before we talk about this important experiment, do you know what a nematode is?
Specifically, this experiment used Caenorhabditis elegans, C. elegans for short. C. elegans is a
little worm (just like the kind you find in the ground), but has a very special place in modern
biochemistry: scientists have mapped its entire genomic sequence.
This sequence lets scientists know the character and location of all C. elegans genes. However,
biochemists do not yet fully understand what each gene does and the goal of this experiment is to
find the function of each gene within the worm. The connection between a worm s genotype and
phenotype is important, because, believe it or not, human beings and worms share many of the same

All eukaryotic cells get their genetic information from DNA, which are strands of nucleotides
whose order conveys genetic information to the cell. Structurally, DNA looks like a ladder. A
DNA strand is made up of a sugar phosphate backbone (similar to the sides of a ladder, alternating
sugar and phosphate) and is connected in the middle with paired purines and pyrimidines (fancy
names for four chemicals that make up the steps of the ladder). Scientists refer to the distinctive
shape of DNA as a double helix.
DNA replication is necessary for organisms to stay alive and reproduce. When cells replicate, the
DNA must also be copied so the daughter cells contain the genetic information necessary to
perform key chemical reactions. Cells have machinery that read the information in DNA and use
these instructions to make proteins. To make proteins, the DNA must first unwind in order to be
read. This small section is then replicated to form a single stranded RNA strand. The RNA strand
then forms what is called messenger RNA or simply mRNA. The mRNA is used to make the
proteins the cell needs.
In some viruses, however, the genetic material is double stranded RNA (known as dsRNA), rather
than DNA. These viruses inject their dsRNA into a host s cell. The

The Cannabis Genomic Research Initiative
Being engaged and intrigued by new information, the love for my coursework has grown every
year; however, the opportunity to discover novel information through my research is one of my
most intellectually stimulating experiences. Under the guidance of Dr. Nolan Kane, the
Professional Investigator of the CannabisGenomic Research Initiative (CGRI), I have expanded my
traditional wet lab work to bioinformatics, hempbreeding, and leading a project I designed to
analyze differential RNA expression in Cannabis. Through my work and fascination with this four

As new data became available, we observed numerous copies of the THC Synthase Gene, which
provided our research with a new goal to develop novel primer sets for each unique copy. My
colleague and I each developed a novel set of primers and protocols associated with those
primers, which has allowed us to determine the phylogeny and variation of these genes.
Continuing to develop this research, we are analyzing possible correlations between the variations
of a certain paralogs in relation to the phenotype or physical traits of the plant. We plan to publish
the phylogenetic relationships we discovered, as well as any possible correlation between
genotype and phenotype in October 2016. If a correlation can be concluded, these results and
developed primers would be the first marker assisted breeding available to successfully determine
the drug content of Cannabis before flowering.
During testing our developed primers in August 2015, I began work on my Honor s Thesis to
understand mRNA expression changes during a common chemical treatment used by many growers
to change the sex of the plant for seed production. Through growing female plants and treating some
branches with silver thiosulfate, these plants will produce both male and female flowers, which can
be harvested throughout the growing process. These flowers will have RNA extracted at three time
points, which will then be processed, sequenced and

Racism In Benito Cereno
The ignorance of Captain Delano in Benito Cereno can be accredited to his racist convictions that
guide his perception of the ship s perilous situation. However, is Delano at fault for his racism?
When rethinking the racism in Benito Cereno under the context of Althusser s theories on ideology,
racism is an ideologyforcibly implemented on the subject through the social institution of slavery.
Delano s actions and thoughts throughout Benito Cereno prove that his racismis a result of a socially
imposed ideology and challenge the modern ideals of racism that place the blame for racist
attitudes entirely on the racist subject. Delano is the subject of a racist ideology and has been
forced into that ideology through the social apparatus of slavery
A fundamental aspect of ideology is that an ideology always exists in an apparatus, and its
practices, or practice. The existence is material (Althusser 695). The ideology of racism uses the
institution of slavery as an apparatus for implementing racism. Slavery was a socially imposed
practice that trained those who were enslaving others to accept the reality and need for this given
institution. This ideology forced people into perceiving Africans as wild people who lacked
civility, education, and intelligence as a whole. However, as is the function of ideology, the
individual being influenced lacks the control to escape from the cyclical nature of the idea being
enforced. This system left Delano incapable of questioning the

The Power of Great Expectations and Jane Eyre
Many novels have been written in many different eras. Each era has its `reform novel or piece of
literature, or pieces of work that broke the mold . For the Greeks, it was Homer s Odyssey; for the
Renaissance, it was The Essays: Of Cannibals by Michel de Montaigne; for the Medieval era, it was
Dante Alighieri s Inferno. It was the same in the Victorian era, which ran from 1850 to about 1900.

My future husband was becoming to me my whole world; and more than the world: almost my

Affluenza in American Society

it is very catching and once polluted with the disease it is difficult to be overthrown. Affluenza is
characterized as an unhealthful connection with money, blown up hopes and tiresome efforts to

What a terrifying situation to be in! [Amanda Hampson]. Affluenza Materialism: Materialism is
also an indication of this sickness we call Affluenza . What brings about materialism and causes
Affluenza ? This simple answer is marketers by using a plenty of information that cannot be
avoided they seduce consumers to buy trough various media [Blenkhorn and N. Wright].
Advertisements Affluenza: It would be reasonable to believe that if someone view a commercial
even half the number of times they would feel the need to buy or use that product, wouldn t it?
Some would say the simple solution would be to turn off the TV, but that wouldn t solve the
problem of marketers attempting to condition consumers either. Advertising accounts 2/3 of the
space in newspapers and 40% of all mail, [Kirsch, T.]. This would seem to go against my research
that Affluenza can be prevented. But on the opposing with all of these advertisements one can shop
around, compare the prices and find the best deals for him or her using the marketers plan against
them and finding the best quality product that fits ones resources, and standard of living. Although,
marketers are in the business of promoting materialism and in turn perpetuating Affluenza it all
comes down to personal choice and self control.

Muscular Dystrophy Is The Most Common Form Of Diabetes
Abstract
Introduction
1.1Muscular Dystrophy
The genetic disease known as Muscular Dystrophy first appeared in history in the year 1830. It
was included in a written report by the Scottish Neurologist Sir Charles Bell. The disease soon
became more prominent, where it appeared in several medical journals from the 1850 s and
onwards. Several young boys were described as having a weakness which progressively worsened,
along with problems walking. The disease led to their eventual premature deaths. A French
Neurologist known as Guillaume Duchenne studied 13 boys who all had the most common and
severe form of Muscular Dystrophy, soon to be known as Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (NIH
2016). Muscular dystrophy refers to a group of more than 30 genetic diseases including Distal
MD, Emery Dreifuss MD, Facioscapulohumeral MD, Limb girdle MD, Becker MD, Congenital
MD, Myotonic MD and Oculopharyngeal MD. This review however will just focus on Duchenne
muscular dystrophy.

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is the most common form of MD that usually affects children. It
has accounted for over 50% of all muscular dystrophy cases, occurring at a frequency of 1 in 3,500
new born males (NCBI 2016). Boys are the main victim of this disease, however symptoms can be
shown and experienced by girls and women who carry the defective DMD gene (NIH 2016). It is a
terrible disease that is progressive and has a rapid onset. The DMD gene is big in size which makes

The Characteristics Of Characterism In The Doll s House
The Doll s House by Katherine Mansfield is an example of a modern short story because it fits all
of the four criteria we discussed in class. The story emphasizes subtle characterization, implies facts
and psychological truths, emphasizes revelation, and has examples of dramatic irony.
The first criteria of a modern short story is that the story emphasizes subtle characterization rather
than fast paced plot. The Doll s House does emphasize this subtle characterization in many ways.
One example of this is how Katherine Mansfield lets us know how Isabel has a sense of
entitlement for being the oldest in a rich family. She does not state this directly, however, she
subtly tells us this by through the dialog of Isabel, like when she said, I m to tell, said Isabel,
because I m the eldest. ... Isabel was bossy, but she was always right... (page 1, paragraph 8). A
fast paced plot is not present in the story because it is a slice of life story, or a story that portrays
the everyday lives of the characters. There is nothing particularly special happening in the story, so
it emphasizes on these subtle characterizations instead.
The second criteria of a modern short story is that the author implies rather than states facts and
psychological truths. One example of this is when the author tells us how close they are
because they have nobody else who will talk to them but each other. The author does not go right
out and say this, however, she implies this through her characterization by saying, The Kelveys
never failed to understand each other, (page 2, paragraph 4) after talking about how the other
children left them out because of their parents, and talking about how they are always together.
Mansfield also implies the fact that the Kelvey sisters father left their family. She does this by
saying, But where was Mr. Kelvey? Nobody knew for certain. (page 2, paragraph 3) This implies
that he might have walked out on the family before he went to jail. The author also implies the
shame that Lil felt over her father, and her mother s job. She does not say this directly, but when
the girls were talking to the Kelvey sisters about their father, the author says, ...Lil only gave her
silly, shamefaced smile.

The Concept Of Transference Within Psychodynamic...
n this essay, I will provide a critical analysis of the concept of transference within psychodynamic
psychotherapy. I will begin with a discussion into the development of the psychodynamic paradigm
and psychoanalysis and how it has developed from its original founder Sigmund Freud to the
influence it has in therapy within the modern present day. The essay will go on to explore the
techniques used specifically within psychodynamic psychotherapy. I. Psychoanalytic psychotherapy
Psychoanalysis was first given its name in the 1980 s by Sigmund Freud. The theory was both
founded and developed by Freud and plays a significant role in our understanding of Psychology
and the human mind in this present modern day. Freud held a strong interest within the
unconscious mind and believed unconscious thoughts and feelings to be at the root of
psychological distress (Cabaniss, 2011). The aim of psychodynamic therapy is to bring forward the
thoughts that hide deep within the unconscious, into the conscious mind to allow for psychological
and self awareness to develop within the client. The Psychodynamic paradigm is seen to hold a
rather deterministic view towards humanity. According to the theory, humans are made up of inner
instinctive drives (Rizq, 2010) and forces of which our thoughts, emotions, and thus our behaviour
is motivated and driven by. Freud theorised that humans repressed certain emotions, desires and
thoughts in infanthood (not childhood??). It therefore became an aim of

and precious throughout the course of their relationship, as each one explores each other. As
children grow from infancy to adulthood, they will develop their own personality traits,
opinions, and challenges. They will no longer pay attention to their parents like they used to as
an infant who intently focused on them. Parents need to be aware of their children s evolution
and be able to handle it (21). It may be easier to redirect toddlers who are focused on playing with
specific toys than it would be to redirect teenagers who are experiencing problems with alcohol or
other drugs. This kind of lovemay require that parents use tough love and intervene with their
children s addictions, by expecting them to accept responsibility for their behaviors, not rescuing
them while continuing to support them. Thus, even when parents do not approve of some of their
children s behaviors, they need to have unconditional love for them. The group members gave their
opinions about the topic. They acknowledged that unconditional love was important, even when
children misbehaved. One of them told about when he was incarcerated and how his mother
maintained her undying support of him. She wrote him letters and phoned him weekly while
sending him care packages too. Another person mentioned that unconditional love was deep and
endearing. No one loved the person like her parents and children did, not even her husband. That
kind of love was accepting another person with their warts and all. Thus,

Earnings Management Hw
1.What is earnings management? The companies use earnings management as a strategy by which
they can easily control and manipulate their earnings to reach their pre determined earning target.
2.Why do companies employ earnings management techniques? Accountants cannot predict every
business structure, every new and innovative transaction. Therefore, they build up principles that
allow for flexibility so that they can adapt to changing circumstances. However, people make use of
that flexibility. They employ earnings management techniques to shade financial unpredictability.

The Characteristics Of Alfred Hitler s Birth Order
Alfred Adler was most famous for his perspective on how the development as a person based on
your birth is progressed. He believes that each family is different and that his birth order scale just
happens to be a possible tool to help people understand the general roles of children. Even though
Adler states the types of position you were born are important, he also describes his birth orderscale
as it is not birth order itself that accounts for differences among siblings, but the psychological
situation resulting from it (Allen, 2006). For example, you may be an only child, but take on many
or possible more characteristics of a middle child based on Adler s description. Although Adler
believes in the characteristics he stated for each birth orders, he states that if there are more than
three years between the children, that the birth order may appear different or inaccurate.
In addition, I believe that Adler was pretty accurate when stating the characteristics on the
position of birth. I am an only child in which Adler states are very comfortable with adults, may
have a special unique gift for their birth order, and tend to have a harder time sharing with others.
He also states that only child tend to want to be the center of attention (Allen, 2006). I believe I fit
this birth order pretty accurately. I tend to much rather hang out with adults than to hang out with
children. I also have very few friends that are my age or younger than me, in which most are older. I

Computerized Timekeeping System For An Electronic Gps System
Abstract
The following paper is about a group of employees working for a company moving from a manual
timekeeping system to an electronic timekeeping system. These staff members are resisting the new
electronic timekeeping system, and have a bad attitude on this subject, not understanding why there
has to be changes in the system they are currently using. Three trainers have been selected to
change the workers attitude and train them to be proficient with the new electronic timekeeping
system.
There are three basic methods of training that can be used to get the employees onboard with the
new electronic timekeeping system. The three trainers met to review the different methods and
discuss which method would be the best method of training for this group of individuals. The
trainers started the process by reviewing and discussing the lecture method of training. Once
discussing this method, it was decided that this was not the proper training method for this group of
individuals. Some people find this type of training boring and become disengaged early in the
training, resulting in poor training results.
Next the trainers reviewed the experiential training method and reviewed the four step process of
training. The trainers thought they might get positive feedback from this type of training, but then
decided that if the employees were not interested in learning a new system, case studies and role
playing might not go as the trainers planned. The trainers felt they might

Chick-Fil-A Christian Worldview
One s ethical belief system of what is right or wrong, is based on the lens in which one views life,

circumstances, consciously from a thoughtful introspective place, it can be shaped by one s familial
upbringing, a spiritual experience with God, or from an unreflective place derived unconsciously
from one s value system based on external resources. When shaping a conscious worldview in
which our ethical belief system is a derivative, the framework of ontology, epistemology and

Locke s Theory Of Equality And Natural Law
Locke s theory of equality and natural law. What is equality? Equality is the state of being equal
and the rights of status. Throughout the 1st and 2nd treatise of government Locke put emphasis on
equality. Locke is a liberalist who believes that everyone should have equality in a governed
society. The reason Locke feels that way is because in a society the people create the government.
With the citizens doing this they give the government consent to govern them by protecting them
and their property. By them giving this it means that everyone has equal rights. Locke s view of
equality wasn t limited to the politics he expanded to religion which has equality as well. The idea
of equality came from the state of nature which transition into... Show more content on

Locke talks about the law of nature in the state of nature. law teaches all mankind, who will but

the fact that everyone in the society is on an equal level playing field.
As you keep reading Locke starts talking about the creator. Locke said, For men being all

works in his name. Example of doing good works would be spreading the Gods name all over the

Film, La Jetee As A Reference Point For My Discussion Essay
Can a pictorial narrative be formed purely through the use of images? It is a question many have
sought to answer, and one that is becoming increasingly relevant as our literary concepts evolve
to keep pace with developments in modern technologies. I have chosen to use the cinГ© roman
designed by Bruce Mau from Chris Marker s 1962 science fiction film La JetГ©e as a reference
point for my discussion. The film is constructed almost entirely of still images, shot through a
Pentax camera. Involving the future destruction of Paris, the film follows a prisoner haunted by the
imageof a woman from his childhood, sent through time by his controllers (Lupton 2005, 87).
The cinГ© roman presents the film s still images in a graphic novel format, with English and
French subtitles positioning the film s voice over into text on the page. Ultimately, I will attempt
to argue that images can be used to create a purely pictorial narrative, in reference to the theories
of visual culture expressed by Barthes, Burgin, Berger and Baetens, among others. It is important
to note that the cinГ© roman exists independently from its predecessor: the French cinГ© roman
is a novel or film scenario designed to read not necessarily in conjunction with the film upon which
it is based (Santoro 1996, 37). As such, while I will direct some attention to the discussion of the
tension between the cinГ© roman s and its cinematic predecessor, I have chosen to focus my
deeper discussion on the implications of image

Taxation On Scholarships And Fellowship Grants
Taxation on Scholarships and Fellowship Grants
David Fuelling and his fellow professionals at Florida Tax Advisors are waiting to help students
file their income tax returns. People attending college, no matter their age, will find that there are
certain scholarships and fellowship grants that are taxable. These moneys received for education
may be considered as a form of income, and therefore are subject to taxation just like the wages and
earnings from a job. It is important that these students seek the help of a qualified tax preparer,
ensuring that their taxes are filed correctly.
What is a Scholarship?
Many current and future college students seek the financial aid of scholarship. A scholarship is a
monetary award that is given to a student based upon specifications set forth by the scholarship
donor. The largest benefit to a scholarship is that it is not a loan which must be repaid.
Scholarships are given based upon merit, qualifications, and demographics that are predetermined.
Any type of student can receive a scholarship, they are not given based upon income levels alone.
As long as the student shows an aptitude for a certain subject matter or sport, they may be eligible
to win the award.
What is a Fellowship Grant?
Similar to a scholarship, in that there is no requirement for repayment, a fellowship grant is
awarded to the highest achieving students in a particular field. These award moneys are most often
associated with students who are attaining a post

Man oh man do I love waking up every three hours to check on the ewes to make sure they re still
okay. But once you walk out the back door and hear the first little heart warming baa i m in love.
It s almost like having a newborn baby by your side, well I wouldn t know what that feels like
but i ve heard many stories. Having a newborn baby and having a newborn baby goat or lamb is
as heartwarming as ever. From being able to sit out in the freezing cold barn letting them wear
cute little doggy sweaters to keep them warm to watching them grow up to be perfect show
animals. Bringing them little treats every so often, well let s be honest I do it everyday. Sticky,
gooey treats every day after school to spoil them more and more. Getting them hooked as babies
is even better because as you see them grow and become bigger and better animals they develop
amazing personalities that only I can control. But besides that they all are able to live in a huge
barn with their buddies in a pen with them. Two animals per pen making 14 Pens in the barn.
Now feeding takes forever in the mornings and afternoons because there are so many pens to
take care of and they all get you at once. Either by being loud and obnoxious to them jumping
along the fences getting in the way of the feeders so I can t even feed them. I m trying to move
them out of the way but they keep playing

Scheme-9 Lab Report
Scheme 8: The presence of catalytic amounts of 3 methyl 1 sulfonic acid imidazolium
tetrachloroaluminate ([Msim]AlCl4) or silica sulfuric acid (SSA) enables an efficient
benzylation of a range of aromatic compounds by benzyl acetate under mild conditions. Simple
methodology, easy workup procedure, clean reaction and reusability of the catalyst are some
advantages.24 Scheme 9: Shimizu et al. studied benzylation of arenes catalyzed by Ag(I) oxide,
Ag(I) ion, bulk silver metal, and silica supported silver nanoparticles. Ag powder, silver oxide,
Ag(I) ion and silica alone are not active towards benzylation of anisole. However, the catalytic
activity of SiO2 supported silver catalysts was increased with the silver loading up to 5 wt% and
decreased with further increase in the loading. Catalyst with 5 wt% Ag loading on SiO2 showed
benzylated product yield about 82%. The catalyst is recoverable and reusable.25 Scheme 10: Cruz
et al. evaluated the catalytic activity of different niobiumphosphates (NbP) such as commercial
NbP, recrystallized NbR and crystalline NbS for liquid phase Benzylation of anisole with benzyl

While the reaction performed in non aromatic solvents yielded the desired benzyl chlorides in
good yields, an unexpected side reaction was observed in aromatic solvents such as toluene
resulting in the 1,1 diarylalkane in 83% yield. The authors explained this observation with
chlorination of 1 phenylethanol and subsequent FC alkylation of the formed benzyl chloride and
toluene. However, more surprisingly the reaction yield could be improved to 93% if only catalytic
amount (10 mol%) of TeCl4 was present. Although the reaction was found by accident, this was
probably the first description of a catalytic FC alkylation utilizing a benzyl

AntiTrust Laws Essay
AntiTrust Laws Introduction
Competition in economics is rivalry in supplying or acquiring an economic service or good.
Sellers compete with other sellers, and buyers with other buyers. In its perfect form, there is
competition among many small buyers and sellers, none of whom is too large to affect the market
as a whole; in practice, competition is often reduced by a great variety of limitations, including
monopolies. The monopoly, a limit on competition, is an example of market failure. Competition
among merchants in foreign trade was common in ancient times, and it has been a characteristic of
mercantile and industrial expansion since the Middle Ages. By the 19th century, classical economic
theorists had come to regard ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the Maryland State Constitution in 1776 stated that Monopolies are odious, contrary
to the spirit of free government... and ought not to be suffered .
With the support of President Benjamin Harrison, Congress passed the Sherman AntitrustAct in
1890. John Sherman, a lawyer and senator from Ohio, was the author of this legislation that
attempted to curb the growth of monopolies. The act declared illegal any business combination that
sought to restrain trade or commerce. Penalties for violation of the act included a $5,000 fine or
/and a year s imprisonment. The act was unable to achieve its original objectives.
Despite its good intentions, the Act didn t hit all its targets. The Act emerged as a somewhat
tenuous plan to break up the big business monopolies. The weaknesses of the Act are described by
Chief Justice Stone: The prohibitions of the Sherman Act were not stated in terms of precision or of
crystal clarity and the Act itself does not define them. In consequence of the vagueness of its
language, perhaps not uncalculated, the courts have been left to give content to the statute, and in
the performance of that function it is inappropriate that courts should interpret its words in the light
of its legislative history and of the particular evils at which the legislation was aimed. Ultimately,
there [was] no question that nearly everyone wanted to

Product Management Using Boston Matrix Tool with Product Life Cycle Management
INTRODUCTION: Oil and gas theft and spillage along pipelines are caused by two major
phenomena: damages and ruptures. However, pipeline damages are mainly due to sabotage.
Due to diminished pipeline and aging process of the pipes there will be ruptures in pipeline. In
Nigeria oil and gas theft and spillage occurs due to a number of causes which include corrosion
of pipeline and tankers, sabotage, oil production operations and insufficient or non functional
production equipment. Pipeline rupture is caused due to very old and lack regular inspection and
maintenance .As a result it is causing environmental pollution and wastage of resources. To over
come this problem an Engineering Systems Development Company called Abuja Energy
Surveillance (AES) Ltd has developed a new oil and gas pipeline monitoring system using drones
and Geographic Information System. By using Boston Matrix the company has planned 10 year
strategic market share plan that focuses on making the system a market dominant in energy
security and environment pollution management for oil and gas industry sector in many
countries. Boston Matrix: It was developed by the Boston Consulting Group; it is a tool that

Cost And Purpose Of Sales Promotion
1: INTRODUCTION
1.1. Introduction to sales promotion
Meaning and Purpose of Sales Promotion:
Sales promotion consists of all promotional activities other than advertising, personal selling and
publicity that help to increase sales through non repetitive and one time communication. In other
words, it includes marketing activities other than personal selling, advertising, and publicity, that
stimulate consumer purchasing and dealer effectiveness, such as point of purchase displays, shows
and exhibitions, demonstrations and various non recurring selling efforts not in the ordinary
routine. Purpose: The ultimate aim or purpose of sales promotion is that of increasing the volume
of sales and profits but it differs from advertising and personal ... Show more content on

For example, the greater the geographical dispersion of a target market, the greater the
communication expenditure required. Similarly, if an offering is in its early life cycle, there is a
greater need of expenditure. But promotion budget should always justify the tasks to be undertaken.
A basic principle would be the cost and returns of sales promotion tools to be adopted. Hindustan
Lever has its well drawn up sales promotion budget. If any business house does not have its
promotion budget fixed, then promotion programmes will have to be designed to support the
marketing plan.
(vi) Government regulations:
Government has passed various laws and made rules to protect the consumer interest, such as the
prevention of Food Adulteration Act, the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable
Advertisements) Act, and Drugs and Cosmetics Act etc. Sales promotion policy must take into
consideration the government regulations relating to the particular product, e.g. the commodity
rates must be specified on the package and in case of medicines drug contents and date of

The Influence Of Ten Amendments On The Basis Of The United...
The United States Constitution is regarded as a myriad of items: It has served as the basis of the
United States briefly after the construction of the United States, serving as a model for dozens of
other nations. The first ten amendments in the United States constitution are perhaps the most
famous. These ten amendments, known commonly as the Bill of Rights, are seldom contested, for
they are the prime components holding the constitution together. Essentially, the Constitution serves
as the basis of the US, but the Bill of Rights is the basis of the Constitution. Despite not being
contested for hundreds of years, in light of recent events in the present day, there is heavy debate on
one of those ten fundamentals: The second amendment. The second amendment is one of great
controversy due to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was put into place as one of the most, if not the most, fundamental amendments due to the
weapon signifying the people s right to defend themselves in cases of government failure
(Source A). Government failure in this case refers to the government becoming a dictatorship,
and false democracy. This is what the colonies had faced prior to the Constitution, and
Declaration of Independence hence the Boston Massacre. The Boston Massacre was able to
occur with no defense possible on the Colonists side due to the lack of weapons available. The
British Government ruled over the Colonists and made it near impossible for them to retaliate in
any effective means due to that lack of weaponry. Due to that lack of weaponry, the Colonists
were able to be easily controlled and forced (Source D). For these purposes it was made a
fundamental basis that every single citizen, not just certain ones, be able to take action against that
oppressive government, should it form. This is widely due to the ideology that no one should be

Irene had stolen was a picture of the King and Irene and it could jeopardize the King s marriage.
In The Purloined Letter the Minister stole a letter from the Royal Lady that had sensitive material

Sherlock Holmes uses observational skills on almost everything that he sees and does. When
Holmes is talking to Watson he says, ...my eyes tell me that on the inside of your left shoe, just
where the firelight strikes it, the leather is scored six almost parallel cuts. Obviously they have
been caused by someone who has very carelessly scraped round the edges of the sole in order to
remove crusted mud from it. Hence, you see, my double deduction that you had been out in vile
weather, and that you had a particularly malignant boot slitting specimen of the London slavey...
(SIB 3). In this quote Holmes is talking to Watson and explaining to him how he both sees and
observes. This is proven in the quote because he sees the six almost parallel cuts on the inside of
Watsons left shoe but Holmes doesn t stop there after he sees the shoe he observes the shoe he
explains how those cuts got there and what led up to the cuts. Holmes also says, You have not
observed. And yet you have seen. That is just my point. Now, I know that there are seventeen
steps, because I have both seen and observed. Holmes is telling Watson that he has only seen the
stairs and not observed him. Watson did not know that there were seventeen stairs he just knew that
the stairs were there while Holmes had observed them and knew that there were seventeen stairs.

It can be seen that dhrystone scores and MIPS scores of the both Emulators are surpassing the
values provided for Motorola 68040 at 25 MHz by promotional literature of Motorola.
Interestingly, these emulations were conducted on ARM Cortex A7, which is a low end
processor. Low end here specifically means that ARM Cortex A7 has lower performance in
terms of DMIPS/MHz compared to performance of Freescale MPC8270 used in processor
module of ABB AC 800M. This instinctively implies that these emulations can be potentially
considered for integrating legacy applications built for ABB AC 450 using Motorola 68040 into
modern ABB AC 800M based on a high end processor MPC8270. These results are also significant
because emulators were open source under GPL licenses; this means that there was no extra cost
involved for commercial licenses. Therefore, these emulators suffice the need of legacy integration

Dhrystone is especially designed to estimate integer performance of a processor based systems. A
particular dhrystone score mentions number of times a fundamental function of a dhrystone
source code is executed per second. Better this score is, the better is the performance of a
processor. To calculate time taken by a dhrystone fundamental function, dhrystone uses standard
times(2) function by default. However, times(2) provides time values in terms of processor
clocks consumed. To have this value in seconds dhrystone also requires specification of clock rate
used by a processor. Therefore, it is a convention to provide dhrystone score with a clock rate.
However, there is no need of specifying clock rate, if the time calculations are performed using
standard time(NULL) function. For emulators, time calculations are done using standard
time(NULL) function. Hence, in this report no clock rates are specified with dhrystone scores

And Josh was hurt because he felt that Linda was trying to control him, and limit his freedom.
Many women feel that it is expected for them to consult with their partners at every turn, while men
automatically make more decisions without asking their partners. Women may try to initiate a

needs for intimacy and independence. To survive we need to act with concern for others but also
survive for ourselves. There has always been a common stereotype that women talk too

HIIT is an excellent way to maximize your workouts to burn fat faster and make the most of
your time when working out. You will see results much sooner by making HIIT a part of your
regular workout regimen. Be mindful of your body when doing HIIT, this exercise is not for the
faint of heart. It takes energy, determination, and sweat when done correctly. Do what you can
and don t push your body to the point of wanting to pass out or if you can t breathe well. As you
continue to do HIIT your endurance will improve, so make it a point to simply do your best and
forget the rest.
You can do HIIT on any cardio machine or by jogging and doing sprint intervals on a treadmill or
outdoors. You can also do them without a cardio machine by incorporating them into your regular
cardio routine. As always, if you re new to exercise or training high intensity intervals be sure to
consult your physician prior to beginning a new exercise

Social Media Marketing Strategies Are Really Helping Your...
When it comes to social media marketing, it s still pretty new terrain for most businesses. You
can never be sure that one type of social media campaign will work for what products or services.
So where does that leave you, the company? How are you supposed to know what marketing
strategies are actually helping your bottom line? That s where social media metrics come into play.
Social media metrics are measurement tools that help you sift through the thousands of likes,
retweets, and shares you re getting and make sense of it all. They are there to give some context to
the massive amounts of data that you re collecting. In short, they tell you if your marketingworks or
not. After all, at the end of the day, what s the point of all of this if it isn t helping your
company? The tricky thing is, there are hundreds of different metrics so now you have to ask
yourself which ones are best for you. Below we ll highlight some of the most useful social media
metrics, how they work and why they re so effective. If you would like to look into others,
though, we ve got a whole glossary full of other metrics here. Impressions To put it briefly,
impressions are the number of times that your page is displayed regardless of whether or not
people clickon it or not. How many people saw your post or update? That s impressions. By no
means are impressions the end all be all of social metrics. The key thing to take away from this is
that you ll want to study a series of

Using Two Different Switching Switches And Hubs
SUMMARY
In this lab, we have set up switched LAN using two different switching devices i.e Switches and
Hubs. Various performance metrics like throughput, collision count, traffic received, traffic sent and
delay are analysed by implementing the network with and without switches. The network is then
modified such that its maximum performance and efficiency is achieved.
OBJECTIVE
The main objective of this lab is to design a network with and without switches and examine the
network s parameters in both the scenarios. Two such scenarios were created: 1) Only hub (where
one hub is connected to 16 work stations) 2) Hub and Switch (where 8 work stations are connected
for two hubs and a switch connecting them). Here, a hub is a device which ... Show more content on

The X and Y coordinates are set to 50. The name of Ethernet16_hub is set to Hub1.
Each work station is configured by changing its attributes to as shown in the image below. This is
done for all the sixteen work stations.
The next step is to Choose Individual DES statistics. For this project, various statistics like Delay,
Traffic received, Traffic sent and Collision count are selected.
The simulation is then run by selecting the duration to 2 minutes. The graph is as follows.
The red curve represents Traffic received, green represents Traffic sent and blue represents Delay.
From the graph, it is clear that the delay is almost negligible when it is compared with the traffic
sent and traffic received.
Now the current scenario is duplicated and named as HubAndSwitch. In this scenario, a hub which
is Ethernet16_hub and a switch which is Ethernet16_switch are added to the work place by
selecting from the object palette. The names are set as Hub2 and Switch respectively.
The network is then modified by placing the switch in between the two hubs and connecting 8
work stations to each hub with 10Base T links. The network appears as shown in this image below.
The DES statistics are same as that of the OnlyHub scenario. The results are obtained by running the
simulation and setting the duration to two minutes.

Brookside Dairy
In this first articles explains how a farmer from a large dairy farm that is called Brookside Dairy
in Indiana County is adopting new technology that will save money and help the environment by
managing manure from 550 dairy cows. The Brookside Dairy farm has been owned by the
George family since 1781owning about 1,200 acres and with that much land the bills were high
and with 550 cattle they had about 10,000 gallons of waste to spar. In the article Mr. George said
economics, odor control and the resulting better quality fertilizer for considering a digester on their

the Indiana County Conservation District, to find out if there was a way to install an on farmdigester.

The renewable energy that the Georges produced through the bio gas is set up to offset the farm s
electricity use and/or sell the power at wholesale rates to the local utility. In the article it stated that
the change to bio gas results in less odor causing compounds in manure in a liquid storage system
and the breaking down of manure in the digester changes the organic nitrogen into ammonium
which is when spread on the fields it ll become more readily available when consumed by the
plants allowing for less nutrient runoff. Also reduces weeds appearing in the fields causing less
weeds growing with crops. Another great thing about the digestion process it also reduces methane,
a greenhouse gas, emissions (basically global warming) which would otherwise remain in the
atmosphere for 9 to 15

  • 2. Reflection Paper On Homelessness And Homelessness When we were first introduced to this assignment, I was both excited and nervous. I was excited because it gave me the opportunity to step of my comfort zone. I was also excited to be able to get out into the community and practice some of the social work skills that we have learned in class. I was nervous because I knew it would be hard to hear the struggles of a single parent experiencing homelessness. As someone who was raised by a single parent, I also know how easy it can be to fall into homelessness. Overall, I think I was more excited about doing this assignment because I truly did want to hear the stories that single parents experiencing homelessness wanted to tell. Experiences Related to Homelessness I certainly have a different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My thoughts have stayed the same about homelessness; however, I certainly have started to acknowledge that homelessness is a very real thing. I also try my hardest to recognize that these individuals are people; therefore, I now make it a point to at least make eye contact with them on the street. Social Justice As I stated before, far too often our society ignores that homelessness is a struggle for many people. Additionally, our society often thinks these people choose to be homeless. Terra talked about an incident at a gas station, and how one of the employees at the gas station said all the people at across the street are drunks and addicts. She talked about how upset she gets when people have these misconceptions about people that are struggling with homelessness. Hearing her talk about this broke my heart because our society should not shame people for being homeless; instead, we should be looking at solutions to end homelessness. It is a human right to have basic human needs, yet our society continually provokes their unjust agenda. Our society also tends to ignore domestic violence, which is something that my mother and Terra both faced. Terra could not get any help with service providers because her children and her were not in immediate danger; although, Terra certainly knew they were in danger. Social justice is helping ... • 3. Who Is Man s Worst Enemy In Macbeth Man s Worst Enemy Annika Boehme Ambition is like water. Humans need it to live but too little will weaken and kill you. Conversely, too much and you ll drown. (Unknown). Ambition can drive individuals to do prodigious things. However, when pursued with overconfidence and lust for power, ambition can lead to extreme actions that can affect oneself and the people around them. In the play Macbeth, Shakespeare discusses the idea regarding the impact an individual s ambition has on themself and others. Macbeth was promised or cursed by three witches that he would obtain more power and would one day be the King of Scotland. Macbeth believed the witches and their foretelling, but to gain this power and title many events occured that had a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Macbeth heard that he would one day be king, he decided to murder King Duncan in order to secure that position for himself, after having been encouraged by his wife. With the curse from the three witches, Macbeth began a domino effect of events in an effort to remain king, which drove both him and Lady Macbeth crazy as they realized their greed led to their tragic downfall. This can be seen when Macbeth murdered his friend Banquo and his murderous deeds came back to haunt them. Not only did these murders have a toll on Macbeth but the weight of these murders was on Lady Macbeth as well. Following the murder of Banquo, Lady Macbeth was found sleepwalking and trying to wash her hands of the King s blood. Lo you, here she comes. This is her very guise; and, upon my life, fast asleep...It is an accustomed action with her to seem thus washing her hands. (Act 5, scene 1, line 17 18, 26 27). • 4. Journey Motif Essay In literature, the Journey is often a metaphor for discovery. The journey motif is used in Coleridge s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. It is also shown in Hawthorne s My Kinsman, Major Molineux and Young Goodman Brown. In these stories, each main character changes sometime between the beginning and the end of the story. In addition, religion plays a part in each of these stories. Typically, in journey literature the hero encounters several obstacles that he or she must overcome. In Coleridge s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, the Mariner shows negativity. The Mariners moral vision is so impaired that his comparisons are persistently pessimistic. This pessimism is seen repeatedly in the similes that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By this, the Mariner shows the beginning of his attitude change. At this point in the poem, the Mariner s fate begins to change when he is rescued by a hermit. The Mariner endures tremendous physical agony and starts to recognize the importance of all living things after his lowest point, the curse. An example of this is when the spell breaks at the point in which the snakes are blessed. As he regains a sense of beauty, the Mariner observes the snakes and realizes how beautiful they are. He begins to see things brightly and the mariner s comparisons and references are less pessimistic and dark. Hawthorne s My Kinsman, Major Molineux, Robin s Journey is clear. Robin is on a journey to find Major Molineux and it is his first journey to town. It is ironic about his shrewd youth; as he continues his journey, he becomes shrewd. His journey is an acquisition of learning, especially since he only has the education of a youth. When Robin goes into the tavern, he is guided by a murmur of voices. He is confident enough when speaking to the innkeeper that he is befitted to be the Major s relative. Robin doesn t understand parts of his journey with the innkeeper as his guide. As the story moves on, Robin starts to be less confident and instead, more cautious. Doubt begins to seep in. Although he feels sympathy, he gives into the opportunities that he has. Robin begins to get desperate and starts to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Community Organization Intensifies Community Stability and... Crisis in community is a regular phenomenon. The need for community organizing addressing community crises is, therefore, evident and perpetual. Bill Lee (2011) suggests that a pragmatic approach to community organizing intensifies community actions addressing community crises associated with the problem of inequality, environmental degradation and crises, and economic instabilities. This paper intends to explore the influences and effects of Pragmatic of Community organization on innovation and vice versa. Bill Lee identifies community as a complex notion of the way people live and connect with each other (Lee, B., 2011, p.20), and defines community organization as a social intervention which seeks to maximize the ability of oppressed or disadvantaged people to take action and influence their environment: ..... (Lee B., 2011, p.100). Lee also suggests that a pragmatic community organizing should have specific objectives that include community participation, sense of community, social production (Gamble, N. D. Weil, M., 2009, p.123), proper use of appropriate resources, and social learning in order to achieve community goal focusing upon citizen empowerment (Lee, B., 2011, p. 94). According to Lee, pragmatic community practice adapts two approaches namely healing or traditional social work approach, and reformation or structural social work approach (Lee, B., 2011, p. 77) in order to overcome community crises associated with three perspectives such as: social, ... • 6. Beethoven And The Piano In The 1800 s Beethoven and the Piano During the late 1700 s and early 1800 s, Beethoven was innovating the world of music through various compositions. In particular, Beethoven s works for piano revolutionized and innovated the piano and its performance practices. His compositional works have always been considered to be some of the best works published, but not everyone realizes just how pivotal his work was in this point in music history. Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany on December 16th, 1770 to his father, Johann van Beethoven, and mother, Maria Magdalena Keverich. He lived in Bonn for about 22 years then moved to Vienna after his father passed away due to alcohol misuse. In Vienna, he was a well known German pianist and composer. His compositional works were well known for broadening the usage of instrumentation and expanding the boundaries for performance. Beethoven began to struggle during the later years of his life due to his deafness. Beethoven is also known for drawing a heavy amount of inspiration from other various famous composers. He even went as far as to dedicate his first three piano sonatas to Haydn. These three pieces were to pay homage to the older composer s style which he just embellished upon. Unlike most other piano sonatas, Beethoven included a forth movement instead of just stopping at three, and rather than having a minuet at the end, the last two ended the piece with a more dynamic ... • 7. Capital Punishment Should Be Enforced Throughout The... Crime is permanent and unchanging. The same can be said for death. It is for this reason that the death penalty is so effective. The death penalty, also known as capital punishment, is defined as the execution, or punishment by killing, of a person who has been found guilty of a specific, and usually serious, crime(Barber). Capital punishmentshould be enforced throughout the United States because it is a humane tradition that has been practiced for centuries, it deters crime, and it provides retribution and gives justice to the victimized. The death penalty is a humane practice that has been going on for centuries, even to Biblical times. Though it has transformed many times from its ancient ways into modern society, it remains... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For individuals that are not Babylonian in belief, there is also much discussion of the lex talionis in the pages of Christianity under Exodus: you shall give life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand (Wolf). According to the Bible, the following crimes are cause for death: contempt, trespassing on holy ground, sorcery, prostitution, idolatry, and adultery. Executions were held in the colonial age as a way to reflect God s law and keep the order. The Book of Exodus also sentences murderers to the death penalty: whoever strikes a man a mortal blow must be put to death (Wolf). The death penalty was incredibly successful in the past, and as human nature has stayed the same, so should its traditions. The death penalty has transformed over time to meet modern needs, and is still used in recent history. This practice has become increasingly humane due to the revisions needed for modern times. As a result of the Furman v. Georgia case of 1972, many states began to revise and adjust their capital punishment laws closer to their current state. Florida was first, revising after a short five months. Furman v. Georgia set standards as to when a method of punishment could be considered unconstitutional (Espejo). • 8. Dulce Et Est Decorum Essay Poetry can be dangerous, especially beautiful poetry, because it gives the illusion of having had the experience without actually going through it. Good evening and welcome to burning poetry, I m your host Izzy and tonight s topic is based around Wilfred Owens poem Dulce et Est Decorum. War is often glorified but in reality is a futile and devastating event, Owen explores this in his poem Dulce et Est decorum. Owens Dulce Est Decorum is a poem that relates to modern day society through its ability to leave a large impact on the audience. During the years of 1914 to 1918, over nine million people died due to World War 1. Entire cities were demolished and nations where torn down, only to be reformed throughout political chaos and enough antagonism for world war 2... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Caught in the middle of all the tragedy that was primarily based in trenches, Owen began to find it hard to account for all the distress and death he witnessed. Progressively becoming more convinced that the war seemed to be carrying on past its purpose, Owen began to write poetry that highlighted the irony of his situation. Owens Dulce et Est decorum explores the true events of war being the tragedy and suffering that takes place. He points out to the reader that war is definitely not something to be glorified or praised, and that the real meaning of being proud to fight for your country, has been taken away. Poetic devices are tools that a poet can utilize to create rhythm, enhance a poems meaning, or reinforce a mood or feeling. Dulce et Est decorum by Wilfred Owen enhances the real life effects and devastation that war leaves on people. The psychology behind the everyday battle that veterans of war face, has been misunderstood by society. This mental state controls these peoples lives on a daily basis. • 9. Functional Genomic Analysis of C. elegans Using RNA... Introduction Before we talk about this important experiment, do you know what a nematode is? Specifically, this experiment used Caenorhabditis elegans, C. elegans for short. C. elegans is a little worm (just like the kind you find in the ground), but has a very special place in modern biochemistry: scientists have mapped its entire genomic sequence. This sequence lets scientists know the character and location of all C. elegans genes. However, biochemists do not yet fully understand what each gene does and the goal of this experiment is to find the function of each gene within the worm. The connection between a worm s genotype and phenotype is important, because, believe it or not, human beings and worms share many of the same ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All eukaryotic cells get their genetic information from DNA, which are strands of nucleotides whose order conveys genetic information to the cell. Structurally, DNA looks like a ladder. A DNA strand is made up of a sugar phosphate backbone (similar to the sides of a ladder, alternating sugar and phosphate) and is connected in the middle with paired purines and pyrimidines (fancy names for four chemicals that make up the steps of the ladder). Scientists refer to the distinctive shape of DNA as a double helix. DNA replication is necessary for organisms to stay alive and reproduce. When cells replicate, the DNA must also be copied so the daughter cells contain the genetic information necessary to perform key chemical reactions. Cells have machinery that read the information in DNA and use these instructions to make proteins. To make proteins, the DNA must first unwind in order to be read. This small section is then replicated to form a single stranded RNA strand. The RNA strand then forms what is called messenger RNA or simply mRNA. The mRNA is used to make the proteins the cell needs. In some viruses, however, the genetic material is double stranded RNA (known as dsRNA), rather than DNA. These viruses inject their dsRNA into a host s cell. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Cannabis Genomic Research Initiative Being engaged and intrigued by new information, the love for my coursework has grown every year; however, the opportunity to discover novel information through my research is one of my most intellectually stimulating experiences. Under the guidance of Dr. Nolan Kane, the Professional Investigator of the CannabisGenomic Research Initiative (CGRI), I have expanded my traditional wet lab work to bioinformatics, hempbreeding, and leading a project I designed to analyze differential RNA expression in Cannabis. Through my work and fascination with this four nucleotide code, I create freedom in my research to learn about any other organism or genetic disease that I hope to treat within my career. My longest ongoing project began in October ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As new data became available, we observed numerous copies of the THC Synthase Gene, which provided our research with a new goal to develop novel primer sets for each unique copy. My colleague and I each developed a novel set of primers and protocols associated with those primers, which has allowed us to determine the phylogeny and variation of these genes. Continuing to develop this research, we are analyzing possible correlations between the variations of a certain paralogs in relation to the phenotype or physical traits of the plant. We plan to publish the phylogenetic relationships we discovered, as well as any possible correlation between genotype and phenotype in October 2016. If a correlation can be concluded, these results and developed primers would be the first marker assisted breeding available to successfully determine the drug content of Cannabis before flowering. During testing our developed primers in August 2015, I began work on my Honor s Thesis to understand mRNA expression changes during a common chemical treatment used by many growers to change the sex of the plant for seed production. Through growing female plants and treating some branches with silver thiosulfate, these plants will produce both male and female flowers, which can be harvested throughout the growing process. These flowers will have RNA extracted at three time points, which will then be processed, sequenced and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, is Delano at fault for his racism? When rethinking the racism in Benito Cereno under the context of Althusser s theories on ideology, racism is an ideologyforcibly implemented on the subject through the social institution of slavery. Delano s actions and thoughts throughout Benito Cereno prove that his racismis a result of a socially imposed ideology and challenge the modern ideals of racism that place the blame for racist attitudes entirely on the racist subject. Delano is the subject of a racist ideology and has been forced into that ideology through the social apparatus of slavery A fundamental aspect of ideology is that an ideology always exists in an apparatus, and its practices, or practice. The existence is material (Althusser 695). The ideology of racism uses the institution of slavery as an apparatus for implementing racism. Slavery was a socially imposed practice that trained those who were enslaving others to accept the reality and need for this given institution. This ideology forced people into perceiving Africans as wild people who lacked civility, education, and intelligence as a whole. However, as is the function of ideology, the individual being influenced lacks the control to escape from the cyclical nature of the idea being enforced. This system left Delano incapable of questioning the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Affluenza in American Society Introduction: The basic purpose of this essay is to evaluate a common disorder of our society that is infecting people throughout World and particularly in the U.S. This disorder is called Affluenza it is very catching and once polluted with the disease it is difficult to be overthrown. Affluenza is characterized as an unhealthful connection with money, blown up hopes and tiresome efforts to keep up with the Joneses. What brings about materialism and causes Affluenza ? This simple answer is marketers by using a plenty of information that cannot be avoided they seduce consumers to buy trough various media [Blenkhorn and N. Wright]. Advertisements Affluenza: It would be reasonable to believe that if someone view a commercial even half the number of times they would feel the need to buy or use that product, wouldn t it? Some would say the simple solution would be to turn off the TV, but that wouldn t solve the problem of marketers attempting to condition consumers either. Advertising accounts 2/3 of the space in newspapers and 40% of all mail, [Kirsch, T.]. This would seem to go against my research that Affluenza can be prevented. But on the opposing with all of these advertisements one can shop around, compare the prices and find the best deals for him or her using the marketers plan against them and finding the best quality product that fits ones resources, and standard of living. Although, marketers are in the business of promoting materialism and in turn perpetuating Affluenza it all comes down to personal choice and self control. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Muscular Dystrophy Is The Most Common Form Of Diabetes Abstract Introduction 1.1Muscular Dystrophy The genetic disease known as Muscular Dystrophy first appeared in history in the year 1830. It was included in a written report by the Scottish Neurologist Sir Charles Bell. The disease soon became more prominent, where it appeared in several medical journals from the 1850 s and onwards. Several young boys were described as having a weakness which progressively worsened, along with problems walking. The disease led to their eventual premature deaths. A French Neurologist known as Guillaume Duchenne studied 13 boys who all had the most common and severe form of Muscular Dystrophy, soon to be known as Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (NIH 2016). Muscular dystrophy refers to a group of more than 30 genetic diseases including Distal MD, Emery Dreifuss MD, Facioscapulohumeral MD, Limb girdle MD, Becker MD, Congenital MD, Myotonic MD and Oculopharyngeal MD. • 17. The Characteristics Of Characterism In The Doll s House The Doll s House by Katherine Mansfield is an example of a modern short story because it fits all of the four criteria we discussed in class. The story emphasizes subtle characterization, implies facts and psychological truths, emphasizes revelation, and has examples of dramatic irony. The first criteria of a modern short story is that the story emphasizes subtle characterization rather than fast paced plot. The Doll s House does emphasize this subtle characterization in many ways. One example of this is how Katherine Mansfield lets us know how Isabel has a sense of entitlement for being the oldest in a rich family. She does not state this directly, however, she subtly tells us this by through the dialog of Isabel, like when she said, I m to tell, said Isabel, because I m the eldest. ... Isabel was bossy, but she was always right... (page 1, paragraph 8). A fast paced plot is not present in the story because it is a slice of life story, or a story that portrays the everyday lives of the characters. There is nothing particularly special happening in the story, so it emphasizes on these subtle characterizations instead. The second criteria of a modern short story is that the author implies rather than states facts and psychological truths. One example of this is when the author tells us how close they are because they have nobody else who will talk to them but each other. The author does not go right out and say this, however, she implies this through her characterization by saying, The Kelveys never failed to understand each other, (page 2, paragraph 4) after talking about how the other children left them out because of their parents, and talking about how they are always together. Mansfield also implies the fact that the Kelvey sisters father left their family. She does this by saying, But where was Mr. Kelvey? Nobody knew for certain. (page 2, paragraph 3) This implies that he might have walked out on the family before he went to jail. The author also implies the shame that Lil felt over her father, and her mother s job. She does not say this directly, but when the girls were talking to the Kelvey sisters about their father, the author says, ...Lil only gave her silly, shamefaced smile. ... • 18. The Concept Of Transference Within Psychodynamic... n this essay, I will provide a critical analysis of the concept of transference within psychodynamic psychotherapy. I will begin with a discussion into the development of the psychodynamic paradigm and psychoanalysis and how it has developed from its original founder Sigmund Freud to the influence it has in therapy within the modern present day. The essay will go on to explore the techniques used specifically within psychodynamic psychotherapy. I. Psychoanalytic psychotherapy Psychoanalysis was first given its name in the 1980 s by Sigmund Freud. The theory was both founded and developed by Freud and plays a significant role in our understanding of Psychology and the human mind in this present modern day. Freud held a strong interest within the unconscious mind and believed unconscious thoughts and feelings to be at the root of psychological distress (Cabaniss, 2011). The aim of psychodynamic therapy is to bring forward the thoughts that hide deep within the unconscious, into the conscious mind to allow for psychological and self awareness to develop within the client. The Psychodynamic paradigm is seen to hold a rather deterministic view towards humanity. According to the theory, humans are made up of inner instinctive drives (Rizq, 2010) and forces of which our thoughts, emotions, and thus our behaviour is motivated and driven by. Freud theorised that humans repressed certain emotions, desires and thoughts in infanthood (not childhood??). It therefore became an aim of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. The Importance Of Unconditional Love For Children and precious throughout the course of their relationship, as each one explores each other. As children grow from infancy to adulthood, they will develop their own personality traits, opinions, and challenges. They will no longer pay attention to their parents like they used to as an infant who intently focused on them. Parents need to be aware of their children s evolution and be able to handle it (21). It may be easier to redirect toddlers who are focused on playing with specific toys than it would be to redirect teenagers who are experiencing problems with alcohol or other drugs. This kind of lovemay require that parents use tough love and intervene with their children s addictions, by expecting them to accept responsibility for their behaviors, not rescuing them while continuing to support them. Thus, even when parents do not approve of some of their children s behaviors, they need to have unconditional love for them. The group members gave their opinions about the topic. They acknowledged that unconditional love was important, even when children misbehaved. One of them told about when he was incarcerated and how his mother maintained her undying support of him. She wrote him letters and phoned him weekly while sending him care packages too. Another person mentioned that unconditional love was deep and endearing. No one loved the person like her parents and children did, not even her husband. That kind of love was accepting another person with their warts and all. Thus, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even though Adler states the types of position you were born are important, he also describes his birth orderscale as it is not birth order itself that accounts for differences among siblings, but the psychological situation resulting from it (Allen, 2006). These staff members are resisting the new electronic timekeeping system, and have a bad attitude on this subject, not understanding why there has to be changes in the system they are currently using. Three trainers have been selected to change the workers attitude and train them to be proficient with the new electronic timekeeping system. There are three basic methods of training that can be used to get the employees onboard with the new electronic timekeeping system. The three trainers met to review the different methods and discuss which method would be the best method of training for this group of individuals. The trainers started the process by reviewing and discussing the lecture method of training. Once discussing this method, it was decided that this was not the proper training method for this group of individuals. Some people find this type of training boring and become disengaged early in the training, resulting in poor training results. Next the trainers reviewed the experiential training method and reviewed the four step process of training. • 34. Film, La Jetee As A Reference Point For My Discussion Essay Can a pictorial narrative be formed purely through the use of images? It is a question many have sought to answer, and one that is becoming increasingly relevant as our literary concepts evolve to keep pace with developments in modern technologies. I have chosen to use the cinГ© roman designed by Bruce Mau from Chris Marker s 1962 science fiction film La JetГ©e as a reference point for my discussion. The film is constructed almost entirely of still images, shot through a Pentax camera. Involving the future destruction of Paris, the film follows a prisoner haunted by the imageof a woman from his childhood, sent through time by his controllers (Lupton 2005, 87). The cinГ© roman presents the film s still images in a graphic novel format, with English and French subtitles positioning the film s voice over into text on the page. Ultimately, I will attempt to argue that images can be used to create a purely pictorial narrative, in reference to the theories of visual culture expressed by Barthes, Burgin, Berger and Baetens, among others. It is important to note that the cinГ© roman exists independently from its predecessor: the French cinГ© roman is a novel or film scenario designed to read not necessarily in conjunction with the film upon which it is based (Santoro 1996, 37). As such, while I will direct some attention to the discussion of the tension between the cinГ© roman s and its cinematic predecessor, I have chosen to focus my deeper discussion on the implications of image ... Taxation On Scholarships And Fellowship Grants Taxation on Scholarships and Fellowship Grants David Fuelling and his fellow professionals at Florida Tax Advisors are waiting to help students file their income tax returns. People attending college, no matter their age, will find that there are certain scholarships and fellowship grants that are taxable. These moneys received for education may be considered as a form of income, and therefore are subject to taxation just like the wages and earnings from a job. It is important that these students seek the help of a qualified tax preparer, ensuring that their taxes are filed correctly. What is a Scholarship? Many current and future college students seek the financial aid of scholarship. A scholarship is a monetary award that is given to a student based upon specifications set forth by the scholarship donor. The largest benefit to a scholarship is that it is not a loan which must be repaid. Scholarships are given based upon merit, qualifications, and demographics that are predetermined. Any type of student can receive a scholarship, they are not given based upon income levels alone. As long as the student shows an aptitude for a certain subject matter or sport, they may be eligible to win the award. What is a Fellowship Grant? Similar to a scholarship, in that there is no requirement for repayment, a fellowship grant is awarded to the highest achieving students in a particular field. The act was unable to achieve its original objectives. Despite its good intentions, the Act didn t hit all its targets. The Act emerged as a somewhat tenuous plan to break up the big business monopolies. The weaknesses of the Act are described by Chief Justice Stone: The prohibitions of the Sherman Act were not stated in terms of precision or of crystal clarity and the Act itself does not define them. In consequence of the vagueness of its language, perhaps not uncalculated, the courts have been left to give content to the statute, and in the performance of that function it is inappropriate that courts should interpret its words in the light of its legislative history and of the particular evils at which the legislation was aimed. From the graph, it is clear that the delay is almost negligible when it is compared with the traffic sent and traffic received. Now the current scenario is duplicated and named as HubAndSwitch. In this scenario, a hub which is Ethernet16_hub and a switch which is Ethernet16_switch are added to the work place by selecting from the object palette. The names are set as Hub2 and Switch respectively. The network is then modified by placing the switch in between the two hubs and connecting 8 work stations to each hub with 10Base T links. The network appears as shown in this image below. The DES statistics are same as that of the OnlyHub scenario. The results are obtained by running the simulation and setting the duration to two minutes. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Brookside Dairy In this first articles explains how a farmer from a large dairy farm that is called Brookside Dairy in Indiana County is adopting new technology that will save money and help the environment by managing manure from 550 dairy cows. The Brookside Dairy farm has been owned by the George family since 1781owning about 1,200 acres and with that much land the bills were high and with 550 cattle they had about 10,000 gallons of waste to spar. In the article Mr. George said economics, odor control and the resulting better quality fertilizer for considering a digester on their dairy operation. So then the Georges sought help from there friendly business partner Jim Resh, of the Indiana County Conservation District, to find out if there was a way to install an on farmdigester. ... The renewable energy that the Georges produced through the bio gas is set up to offset the farm s electricity use and/or sell the power at wholesale rates to the local utility. In the article it stated that the change to bio gas results in less odor causing compounds in manure in a liquid storage system and the breaking down of manure in the digester changes the organic nitrogen into ammonium which is when spread on the fields it ll become more readily available when consumed by the plants allowing for less nutrient runoff. Also reduces weeds appearing in the fields causing less weeds growing with crops. Another great thing about the digestion process it also reduces methane, a greenhouse gas, emissions (basically global warming) which would otherwise remain in the atmosphere for 9 to 15 ...
