Murder Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of murder is an inherently challenging endeavor. The topic itself
is laden with ethical, moral, and emotional complexities that require careful consideration and
navigation. Addressing such a sensitive and controversial theme demands a balanced approach,
as the writer must walk a fine line between providing objective analysis and acknowledging the
gravity of the subject matter.
One of the primary difficulties lies in maintaining a detached and analytical tone while
discussing a topic that inherently elicits strong emotions. Striking the right balance between
empathy for the victims and a dispassionate examination of the causes and consequences of
murder is a delicate task. The need for thorough research to support arguments and provide a
comprehensive understanding of the topic further intensifies the challenge.
Moreover, the essay must navigate legal, psychological, and sociological perspectives, requiring a
multifaceted analysis that adds another layer of complexity. The writer must grapple with
questions surrounding the motives behind murders, the impact on communities, and the efficacy
of legal systems in preventing and addressing such acts.
Crafting a coherent and ethical narrative is essential, as the essay should avoid glorifying or
sensationalizing violence. Striving for objectivity while maintaining sensitivity to the human
aspects of the issue demands a nuanced and thoughtful approach.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of murder requires a high level of skill, empathy, and
a commitment to responsible discourse. Navigating the intricate web of ethical considerations,
emotional sensitivity, and the multifaceted nature of the subject poses a considerable challenge.
Aspiring writers may find it beneficial to seek guidance, conduct thorough research, and
approach the topic with the utmost care to ensure a well-rounded and thought-provoking
exploration. For those seeking assistance in tackling such complex essays or exploring a range of
topics, it's worth considering professional services like HelpWriting.net.

Tobacco Products And Its Effects On Children And Young
Adults
In an effort to discourage the consumption of tobacco products in India, a ban was
issued stopping advertising and sponsoring of sporting events. This ban was brought
to the table with the intentions of keeping the citizens of India from undue influence
towards the use of a product that when used to the satisfaction of its producers would
result in major health issues and eventual death. The use of tobaccoproducts is
directly attributable to the deaths of 3 million people in 1990 and the eventual death
of 10 million people in the year 2030. Those in favor of the ban argued that a
government that provides health insurance for the very people it collects taxes from
in the purchase of the product that leads to their eventual illness is one... Show more

Increased spending on these products, more labor intensive than the production of
tobacco related products, is more likely to increase employment as demands for
tobacco products decreased and the demand for other products increased. Though the
ban on the advertisement of cigarettes would decrease the number of jobs related to
the farming of tobacco and the production of cigarettes, increased demand in other
sectors would more than compensate for those losses.
Those who seek to impose the ban also argue that the government is responsible for
the well being of its constituents in all aspects. A government that would collect a tax
for the sale of a product with known health risks that it is often responsible for
treating in the long wrong is not a government that is protecting its people. Even from
themselves.
Those who are in opposition to the ban have myriad reasons for their argument. One
such argument is that the government should not act as unilaterally as to have sway
over such personal decisions and has cited several countries similar bans and their
results to discredit the possible ban as being ineffective.
The government s responsibility to the costs of treating tobacco influenced illness
have been argued as moot because the patients who would choose to smoke would
shuffle off of this mortal coil before their disease became a cost that would outpace
the taxes collected from tobacco sales.

The Journey in A Good Man Is Hard to Find by Flannery...
The Journey in A Good Man Is Hard to Find by Flannery O Connor
In A Good Man Is Hard to Find, Flannery O Connor s character searches for grace
and redemption in a world full of sin. Grimshaw states, each one, nonetheless, is free
to choose, free to accept or reject Grace (6). The Grandmother in A Good Manis Hard
to Find, is on a journey for grace and forgiveness in a world where the redemption she
is searching for proves to be hard to find.
The Grandmother often finds herself at odds with the rest of her family. Everyone
feels her domineering attitude over her family, even the youngest child knows that
she s afraid she d miss something she has to go everywhere we go (Good Man 2). Yet
this accusation doesn t seem to phase ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The grandmother s chance at grace comes at the end of the story when she makes the
gesture and reaches out to touch the Misfit. The grandmother finally realizes that
she is responsible in some way, for the man before her (Mystery and Manners 110).
This is the grandmother s final chance at accepting the grace she has longed to
have. Hendin states each story in A Good Man is Hard to Find embodies a visible
sign of invisible grace (17). Yet these pictures of grace are often hard to find.
McMullen goes on to say: The good man is hard to find because language and
events in the realistic narrative have given us a brutal murder whose meaning we
look for in humanistic terms instead of O Connor s hint of Grace that has its efficacy
in a world beyond the constructed one in the story (10).
O Connor herself warns us to be on the lookout for such things as the actions of
grace in the Grandmother s soul, and not for the dead bodies (Mystery and Manners
112).
Eggenschwiler probably expresses Ms. O Connor s purpose best, In her stories, grace
is most often enlightenment, especially about oneself it is the fulfillment of a
character s nature (132). The Grandmother learns more about her own character,
through the actions of grace. Eggenschwiller explains the acceptance of grace by the
grandmother: In the end of the story it is not The Misfit,
Timothy Mcgrew Contradictions
In the first part of Dr. Timothy McGrew s discussion on the dependability of Acts
and Luke as an author, McGrew shows and proceeds to interact with the opposing
view held by Dr. Bart Ehrman. McGrew respectfully goes through each of Ehrman s
negative and misguided beliefs on the contradictions and errors Erhman believes there
to be in the book of Acts. Investigating the first apparent contradiction Acts 1:12 vs
Luke 24:50, Ehrman holds that Luke unreliably claims Jesusas ascending into heaven
on the same day that he rose from the dead and met with the disciples. However, he
asserts the opposite is stated in Acts and therefore portraying a different picture
where the resurrection, ascension, and the meeting of the disciples did not all occur
on the same day. McGrew reassesses each chapter and displays to the audience the
literal text, which does not show any signs of opposition when placed in regards to
each other. Merely, the text displays a writing style known as telescoping in which
events are misperceived as being in a time either more distant or more recent than the
reality. Thus being the case with the aforementioned contradiction where Jesus seems
to either relax in his activities or overload everything into a singular day.... Show

Each scripture Erhman boldly presents as an endeavour to establish his viewpoint
has most often shown to be grotesquely misinterpreted or seemingly under analyzed.
Such as seen in the instance of Acts 9:7 vs 22:9 where, when viewed in various Bible
versions, any likely contradictions of the verses wither away. The error more so
found in Erhman s failure to look at different translations before making his
assumption. McGrew, therefore, asserts that Bart Erhman can hold no merit to his
oppositions of Luke as an inaccurate and unreliable

Netflix Corporate Level Strategy Paper
A strategy is a plan that is targeted over the long run. Business level strategies refers
to strategic alternatives that an organization chooses from as it conducts business in a
particular industry or market (Griffin,2002). A corporate level strategy means that a
company manages its operations simultaneously across many industries and markets.
Netflixoperates across both a business and corporate level strategy. The main areas
across which Netflix operate on in their corporate level are business portfolio and
partnerships.
For netflix s business portfolio they outline that their main area of focus are online
DVD rentals via online streaming (Netflix ,2010). It is clear from this that netflix
have outlined that they aim to provide a service that they hope many people across
a broad market will be able to use. With this in mind they would be able to generate

Netflix has around 75 million subscribers today which suggests that it is a very
popular organisation. Netflix at the moment serves many markets across the world
whinch included the US and Europe. Netflix suffers from competition from
companies such as Amazon prime. Both of these companies compete to gain
customers in this compact market. Netflix s corporate strategy fits in with their
business level strategy as they deal mainly with DVD rental via online streaming.
The deal that is in place with Warner bros has a major impact on how Netflix
conducts itself. If other online streaming companies don t face this deal of not
being allowed to stream their contents untill 28 days after the public release date
then other companies have a competitive advantage which would lower Netflix s
revenue. This would cause customers to leave Netflix as they may be able to see
films at an earlier date with rival
Acne Epidemiology
Epidemiology: Acne is a self limiting disease of adolescence but its prevalence is
high in adulthood. Nearly 90% of teenagers develop acne and half of them experience
it even during adulthood [10,11]. The peak in prevalence of acne is between 14 to
17years in woman and 16 to 19 years in men [12].one community based study
showed that 56% of boys and 45% of girls between age group of 14 16 were affected
by acne with moderate to severe type in 11%.[13]in girls occurrence of acne
precedes menarche by more than a year .it is maximum at 18 years of age but large
no men and women in between age group 20 40 year is also affected[14] acne is
more sever in male than female ,relating it to androgen activity.one study of
adolescencefrom new Zealand identified acne was noted in 6.9%of male and only
1.1% of female.[15]
In India, prevalence data from a dermatology clinic in a teaching hospital in Varanasi
reported acne in 50.6%of boys and 38.13%in girls in between age group of 12 17
years [16] It is also proven that acne is more prevalent in urban population by the
data from Varanasi where 21.35%of boys (13 18) were from rural areas and 37.5%
were from urban area [16]

Nuclear Power And Its Effects On The World
On October 24th, Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders said, Climate
Change is real! Climate Change is caused by human activity! Climate Change is
affecting all parts of the world. Sanders speaks about the disruption of ecosystems,
the dying of species, and the destruction of earth s atmosphere. The creation of
increased greenhouse gases caused by heavy reliance on fossil fuel energy has
disrupted Earth s equilibrium. Sanders calls for alternative energy in America; hailing
countries that have transformed their fossil fuel dependency. Nuclear poweris a
relevant factor in alternative energy for policy makers. In the 1950 s, anticipation for
nuclear energy was very high, people thought that new advancements in nuclear
energy would make electricity free. Nuclear power was successfully implemented for
commercial use in 1954 Russia. Since then a total of 438 nuclear reactors were
created around the world, including the United States, with 67 still under
construction. Nuclear power support has always waned throughout the years,
reaching high points of investment when oil prices skyrocketed in the 1970 s.
Nuclear power is praised for its efficiency and minimal environmental impacts,
however common misconceptions about the danger of nuclear power/power plants,
discredit nuclear energy as a better alternative to fossil fuels.
The Soviet Union spent large sums of money constructing a successful nuclear power
plant. The first nuclear reactor that produced commercial

National Budget Cuts
Consequently, a loss in the artisan and artistic labor markets will have a greater
effect on society than just a loss in workforce numbers. A loss in artists, musicians,
craftsmen, or any largely creativity based occupation, would lead to a major decline
in new creative inventions and innovations. Not only is technology damaging the
arts, but also education. (Szekely, 2016, para.11 14) Budget cuts for art and music
classes have gone through the roof. Over just the past ten years national funding for
the art has dropped nearly 25%. In recent national budget plans national funding for
the arts has taken an even larger setback. (Kennicott, 2017, para. 9) These cuts will
ultimately impact, four independent cultural agencies the National Endowment...

Small communities called makerspaces help counter the effects of modernization.
(Edu Cause, 2013, para. 2) A makerspace is a physical location where people gather
to share resources and knowledge, work on projects, network, and build. Makerspaces
help inspire technological creativity and innovation that allows members to create
idea prototypes and experiment new technological advancements. (Thompson, 2015,
A World Without Work, p.56) The use of makerspaces can help counter the
negative effect of new technology against the workforce and encourages
cooperation between man and machine. It not only encourages creativity but also
allows for socializing to those who share interest in similar ideas and innovations.
Makerspaces also require individual learning and does not entitle members to rely
on technology itself. While Isaac Asimov (author of I, Robot) may believe that
machines will almost certainly replace human labor in the future, members of
makerspaces believe that the job of the human race is to harness the power of
machines and use it for our own creative good without letting it take advantage of
workers. Much like museums are used to preserve the culture and history of the past,
makerspaces will be used to preserve the creativity and innovation of the human

throughout her novel causing the readers to experience a more scientific
perspective on the story. The story takes place inside Dellarobia Turnbow s mind; a
restless farmers wife who got pregnant at seventeen and, as a result, had a shotgun
marriage. Her life since then has been a wreck. Her marriage is deteriorating, her
farm is failing and she finds no more joy in her life. She attempts to rendezvous
with a man to temporarily help fill the emptiness in her life. However, on her way to
the tryst she sees a remarkable sight which she believes to be a treacherous forest fire.

This passage helps to characterize Ovid Byron as a scientist. For example, when he
says since God set them loose here, as you say, he develops a scientific stance on the
subject by pointing out that they believe God put these insects here and that he stands
apart from their beliefs and believes that the butterflies were a cause of evolution.
Ovid s scientific status helps the reader throughout the rest of the novel to better
understand the monarchs. Until this point Dellarobia didn t know that the monarchs
were in danger. The reader can infer from this passage, based on information
gathered previously in the novel, that the monarchs had to adapt to living on the
Turnbows farm because of the floods in Mexico. The butterflies help develop a
central theme of adapting to survive, however as the reader progresses in the novel
they learn that the monarchs are actually dying regardless of their attempt to adjust to
the change. The butterflies reflect on Dellarobias character, causing the reader to
notice the similarities between the butterflies and her. Dellarobia is the most
important character of the story. Through her we see the drastic changes in her
behavior and actions. She has always lived an unfortunate life; with her shotgun
marriage and her miscarriage she is unable to pursue her dream of becoming more
educated. However, as the novel progresses, Dellarobia begins to realize that just like

Laws of Juvenile Sexual Offenders Essay
Juvenile Sexual Offenders: Should the Laws Be Adjusted?
In today s society of internet sex crimes being broadcast on the evening news and 60
Minutes doing specials at least once a month. Are we paying enough attention to
other sexual crimes and problems, such as the laws pertaining to juvenile sex
offenders and their victims? Could more be done to help and protect the perpetrators,
victims and their families?
It is my opinion that the laws pertaining to juvenile sex offenders need to be
adjusted. School officials should be made aware of the presence of convicted sex
offenders within their own schools so that they can be more alert and active in
counseling and monitoring of such students and their behaviors. I believe that there

The juveniles are more likely to have experienced such behavior as victims in the
past, and do not realize such behavior is wrong.
According to some research that psychologists have done, they suggest that a juvenile
sex offender commits sexual acts due to unsound judgments. They feel as if the
offender does not look at all the information involved, unless it involves a scheme to
commit a criminal act. If he decides something is true, then it must be. Most decisions
he makes are damaging because they are based on ignorance, myths, and rumors.
In a commentary written by Gregory K. Fritz, M.D. FBI data from 1995, for
example, indicate that individuals under the age of 18 years old comprised almost
16 percent of those arrested for forcible rape and 17 percent of those arrested for
all other sex offenses. Studies of adults convicted of sex offenses suggest that
approximately half began their sexually abusive behavior as juveniles. According to
an article by Michele McNeil, at least 32 states have laws requiring juvenile sex
offenders to register with local law enforcement. The laws however, greatly vary
from state to state about who is informed, and whether the names are listed on public
sex offender registries.
Over half of the states within the U.S. already have laws that govern juvenile sex
offenders in school. Washington, for example, bans a juvenile sex offender from
attending the same school as their victim and that the principals must be notified

Powerlessness In Frances Burney s A Mastectomy
Frances Burney started feeling pain in her breast in 1810, and in September 1811 a
mastectomy was performed to her. In her letter A Mastectomy she describes the
illness and the operation, her feelings and fears, to her sister Esther Burney. The
letter tells a story of a battle of control and against the feelingof powerlessness. It also
speaks of empowerment; writing is Burney s way of regaining control over her
operation and making it part of her own history. In this paper I attempt to find and
analyse the reasons for Burney s feeling of powerlessness, its describtion in the letter,
and the ways she tries to fight it. Although the moment when Fraces Burney as a

Kaye also speaks of control: Burney s hesitanse about beeing seen can be better
understood as a desire to maintain control over her inner and outer self (Kaye
1997, 46). It seems that being examined by a doctor was not an everyday matter for
a 19th centure woman, and Burney feels strongly about her chastity. But on this,
as in the scene where she resist of taking her robe de chambre off before the
surgery, Burney has to submit to the wishes of her husband and friends, and the
orders of her doctors. In addition to being physically revealed to the gaze of the
doctors, Burney also is being defined by her diagnosis. It makes her a sick person,
who has less authority of her own life and body, and who has to consult doctors
and obey their advice and orders. Her illness determinates the course of the rest of
her life, the operation leaving her body disformed. She begins to seek for moments
when she can feel like she is in control, deciding about her own life. I see in the text
two moments that clearly represent her wish for independence, for the chance to
make her own decisions. First, the moment when she resists of taking off her
dressing gown before the surgery; I was compelled, however, to submit to
What Are Celie s Struggles In The Color Purple
The Color Purple is widely known for its numerous issues surrounding violent and
explicit substances. Alice Walker s epistolary novel focuses on a young girl named
Celie, who is raped and impregnated by her father. She writes about her experiences
at home in Georgia to God, and her sister, Nettie, who is on a mission trip in Africa.
Celie begins writing these letters about her experiences to God and Nettie in order to

Mel Watkins, a New York Times book critic, agrees with this statement when he
writes in his critical review that black American heroes in Walker s novel
withstood the gaudiest abuse a racist, sexist society could offer (Literature
Lovers). Watkin s claim about the novel is unquestionable because readers of The
Color Purple are exposed to hard working women who attempt to overcome their
obstacles brought to them by the male figures in their lives. Watkin also writes that
the author s story provoked controversy about Walker s portrayal of black men,
which many found offensive and one dimensional (Literature Lovers). The Color
Purple can be seen as offensive and one dimensional because people can interpret
the author s words as saying: all black men are vituperative. This is not true.
Walker is simply trying to demonstrate that it is common for men to be in charge of
their wives and be dominative over them in the 1900s (and even today). Watkin
simply praises the novel s spark of controversy surrounding very sensitive topics.
For Celie, men like Alfonso, Mr.___, and Harpo were all African American men
who continuously put her down and gave her a hard time. This does not change
until Celie displays her character development in her final letter to God. The Color

Candidate Comparison Have you ever felt like an outsider? Did you ever feel like
you didn t fit in and you weren t accepted? Well, I don t think it s much of a
problem for the outsiders in this upcoming presidential election. The presidential
candidates, Donald J. Trump and Bernie Sanders, are known as the outsiders of the
election but, are gaining so much support and acceptance. Sanders is a highly Liberal
candidate who wishes for many free social systems for the United states while Trump
is a conservative business man who wishes to Make America Great Again ( About
Donald... ). The people that are voting for Trump are not going to back down any
time soon or change their minds but, when it comes down to a general election, the
majority of the United States population seems to side with Bernie Sanders. Donald
Trump is a very successful business man that is just trying his hand in politics this
election. He was born in Queens, New York on the fourteenth of June in 1946 and
later graduated business school at the Warton School of Finance. Other than the
acting chairman and president of his own organization, Trump has become a
successful author of over 15 bestselling books including The Art of the Deal. He is
also an Emmy nominee for his show The Apprentice which coined the phrase you re

Rhapsody In The Rain Sparknotes
During her romance with Robert, Francesca reflects on her relationship with
Richard during a bath, and her thoughts at this time strike the heart of the problems
in her marriage. Something as simple as a cold glass of beer at bath time felt so
elegant. Why didn t she and Richard live this way? Part of it, she knew, was the
inertia of protracted custom. All marriages...are susceptible to that. Custom brings
predictability, and predictability carries its own comforts...And there was the farm...
But there was something more going on here. Predictability is one thing, fear of

What s wrong, Frannie? Will you please tell me what s wrong with you? Richard, I
just need some time to myself. I ll be all right in a few minutes. Richard tuned in
the noon livestock reports, looked over at her, and shook his head (Waller 125). It
is unclear to what extent Francesca and Richard work to fix their relationship, but I
am convinced they both made a strong effort. They were never going to be perfect
for one another, but they lived a full life together. After Richard s death, Francesca
reflects on this. Francesca thought of him now and his sturdy kindness, his steady
ways, and the even life he had given her (Waller 17). In the end, it was worth staying
in Madison County, but that does not mean it was perfect. In Francesca s letter to
her children, she tells them about her husband s dying words. I think Richard
knew there was something in me he could not reach, and I sometimes wonder if he

dreams, too. I m sorry I couldn t give them to you (Waller 155 156). No matter how
hard Richard tried during his life, he could not be everything Francesca wished he
could be, but he wishes he could have been. Richard may never have understood his
wife, but there is no doubt he loved her
The Issue Of Today s Society
Seminar Paper (Entangled) Introduction There is no denying consumerism has
become an issue of today s society. People are consuming more than they ever have
before. Because of it material culture has become an increasing area of study.
Material culture is described as the relationship between people and their material
things. People are owning more stuff which is leading to major problems. The
mass consumptions of these goods has a negative impact on the planet. It takes
lots of energy and resources to produce a product, thus takes a negative toll on the
planet. Rainforest are cut down, habits are destroyed, global warming increases,
waste and toxic gases have increased, animals are killed, and people are displaced.
The people in marginalized communities and third world countries are the ones
that are affected the most. People are employed in horrible conditions, and paid
horrendous salaries by these huge corporations profiting on the exploitation of
these people, while profiting tremendously from the boom in consumer goods. Not
only have people of western societies but people around the world are craving and
desiring consumer goods. What is being consumed at an alarming rate is
technology. With the technological boom and technological advances at an
alarming rate has led to people purchasing such products. Because technology has
become so globalize and so easy to acquire at a price that is accessible by most, it has
led to an increase in sales and production

Caesar s first great battles have been in Gaul. The Gauls were brave, but Caesar

Roman soldiers had a great confidence in Caesar. When he led them they believed
victory was certain. He has stricted in his discipline, but very friendly and pleasant

Day after day he marched on foot at their head through heat and rain and snow, and

Persuasive Essay On Autism
Autism. To some people it can be just a word, or a disorder. What Autism means to
me, is being able to be closer to my little brother. My 7 year old brother has Autism
and that doesn t define him as a human being, his capabilities defines who he is. He
is the reason why I am where I am today, a paraeducator that thrives to help kids in
need. Being a paraeducator, our job is to help our students become more
independent to prepare them for the real world after school. In order to get a
student to be an independent person, is to use strategies. A few strategies I would
use is how to properly use fidgets, what the social norm is and ways to improve,
and the four questions for a structured task. Fidgets are a great way to keep children
calm and collected, but in order for them to work, there needs to be expectations.
For me as an adult, I can get a little antsy if I sit for a long period of time to what do
I do? I just grab my phone out and mess around on it. In a school setting that cannot
happen. Some different alternatives could be a stress ball, fidget cube, bag of
marbles, or tangles, etc. Some expectations for the fidgets can be: keep it
somewhere where it won t be a distraction, use it nicely and properly, and if it gets
in the way of work, then it gets taken away. If expectations get set, fidgets can be a
great way to keep your student focused and not get over stimulated while getting
their work done. In today s world, we are lacking in social skills, as the technology
increases, our social skills decrease. As our children grow up and develop, so does
the technology, the kids get stuck behind those screens and tend to forget there are
people on the other side of them and that they have feelings. One huge area kids
and even adults need to work on is eye contact. When I was in grade school my
teachers would say look at their nose or look above their head. Eye gaze would be
a great idea to use with children that do not like making direct eye contact. With
eye gazing, the child looks in the general direct of where the person they are
talking to is looking at. For example, if the other person is looking at a flag, the
child would have to see where the person eyes are pointing to, use that person s body

Don Quixote Belonging
The Ingenious Gentleman, Don Quixote de la Mancha was written by Miguel de
Cervantes in 1605. He was eighty five years old. The book quickly gained esteem,
and as Cervantes jokingly predicted in Part II Chapter III, In short, I feel certain that
there will soon not be a nation that does not know it or a language into which it has
not been translated. Since Cervantes died within six months of the completion of his
novel, he didn t get to see his prediction come to fruition in his lifetime, though
recently The Guardian reported that Don Quixotehas been voted the best novel of all

Throughout the novel Sancho is often referred to, by Cervantes and by other
characters, as dim witted. Sancho even points this out himself on occasion. However,
as the novel progresses, his wit, cunning, and lucid decision making save the day on
multiple occasions. In the first part of the book Sancho truly behaves like a
simpleton, buying into his master s talk of enchantments, castles, and sorcerers. In
this part, readers are introduced to a specific side of Sancho, just to Cervantes can

The Lord s Standing Law Of Marriage
Latter day Saints believe that the marriage of one man and one woman is the Lord s
standing law of marriage. In biblical times, the Lord commanded some to practice
plural marriage the marriage of one man and more than one woman.1 By revelation,
the Lord commanded Joseph Smith to institute the practice of plural marriageamong
Church members in the early 1840s. For more than half a century, plural marriage
was practiced by some Latter day Saints under the direction of the Church President.2
Latter day Saints do not understand all of God s purposes in instituting, through His
prophets, the practice of plural marriage. The Book of Mormon identifies one
reason for God to command it: to increase the number of children born in the gospel
covenant in order to raise up seed unto [the Lord]. 3
Plural marriage did result in the birth of large numbers of children within faithful
Latter day Saint homes. It also shaped 19th century Mormon society in many ways:
marriage became available to virtually all who desired it; per capita inequality of
wealth was diminished as economically disadvantaged women married into more
financially stable households; and ethnic intermarriages were increased, which helped
to unite a diverse immigrant population. Plural marriage also helped create and
strengthen a sense of cohesion and group identification among Latter day Saints.
Church members came to see themselves as a peculiar people, covenant bound to
carry out the commands of God despite outside

Different Interpretations Of Fight Club
Different Interpretations Fight Club can be viewed with many interpretations, all of
them true. It is a great love story. It is an anti consumerism rant. It is a spiritual piece
against materialism. It is anarchist literature. It is a commentary on our lost
generation. At first viewing of the movie, very little of this can be seen and it appears
violent and chaotic. However much thought was put into providing the movie with
depth and development that only become apparent after multiple screenings. TAOIST
PERSPECTIVE The Yin Yang is one of the primary principles of Taoist teachings.
The concept of two forces present everywhere, completely opposite to each other yet
balancing and enhancing each other. They cannot be separated because they exist
together in comparison, and splitting one apart will only create the other anew.
Although one force can take prevalence over the other for a short time, anything that
is in a state of imbalance for long will cease to exist. The universe is composed of and
held together by the tension of these two forces, and this concept is in Taoist writings
on Abstraction. (A2) Another central Taoist concept is Wu Wei, which can be
translated as the action that comes from not doing . Though there are multiple
interpretations of the Chinese character symbolizing this concept, the general idea
seems to be another paradox; to accomplish something by doing nothing. The
foundational writings on this concept can be seen in the Taoist text on
National Conventions Research Paper
Every four years, the incumbent president s term ends and Americans are left with
the difficult but massively important choice of who to elect as the next leader of their
country. In these elections, though there are many crucial proceedings that occur, two
of the most important events are the national conventions that each party holds
between their primary electionsand the presidential election. The national conventions
are so important because during them, each political party nominates their candidate
for the upcoming election and gives that candidate a chance to talk to the American
people and try to persuade them to vote for him or her. This year s conventions have
set the stage for the election that will occur in a few months, so it

Greenwald uses experience, credentials, and conclusions of an expert to vouch for his
argument, which, in turn strengthens it. His usage of short quotes enables a critical
voice while using evidence to support his analysis.
Thirdly, Greenwald combines quantitative and qualitative data through visuals
withdrawn from the leaked archives of documents. To illustrate, he provides a chart
from the NSA breakdown that quantifies the number of calls and emails collected for
each country. For Poland, the chart shows more than three million telephone calls on
some days, for a thirty day total of seventy one million (p.99). He uses the charts from
the leaked documents as evidence to support his argument on the NSA s
unreasonable levels of surveillance on foreign countries. The integration of visuals
into the book is vital for readability. A reader with no previous background in
statistics can easily understand the explanations to reveal important patterns.
Therefore, it strengthens his argument.
Additionally, Greenwald s usage of qualitative data provides an insight into the
problem of surveillance. For example, Greenwald uses descriptive statements about
intelligence and surveillance based on observations, interviews or evaluations. For
instance, Greenwald states, those state authorities have been assisted in their assault
on privacy by a
A Review of Globalization and Its Discontents, by Joseph...
One of the most pressing economic problems of our time is the objectionable
direction taken by the leading regulating institutions, such as the International
Monetary Fund or the World Bank. This issue is addressed in Globalization and Its
Discontents, and is thoroughly analyzed throughout the next pages. It was written by
Joseph E. Stiglitz, (born February 9, 1943), an American economist and author. He
is also the former Senior Vice President and Chief Economist of the World Bank. He

On the other side, establishing capital market liberalization (pp. 44 46) was a
mistake. Lastly, the IMF s answers to the majority of economic crises, such as the
one that laid waste to East Asia (pp. 89) had negative outcomes, deteriorating the
conditions in these territories. In particular, raising the interest rates and enforcing
financial austerity were burdens for the continent s economic growth. In order to
prove his points, the economist explains that China, India and Malaysia, the two first
countries being spared by the studied crisis and the latter having known a quick
recovery by ignoring the IMF s advice.
The IMF and the World Bank s policies incorrect and brutal doe not emanate from an
active conspiracy, but have more to do with the economic actors individual interests
(these actors opinions being able to prevail thanks to their political stature) and the
ideology developed as a result. The book then states that the leaders and choice
makers of these two institutions truly believe in the rightfulness of their regulating
and development policies. According to the author, the solution of the problem lies
above all in the democratization process within the debated organizations, as their
very credibility is at stake. The governments and their Ministers of Finance s activities
should be transparent, objective
Adult Development Papers
Throughout the span of this course, a big section of time was allotted for learning
about adult development. For this reason, I have decided to interview my 40 year
old father, Rick Spence, to see if he follows the basic pattern of development. The
interview is focused on four major categories of adult development, the categories are
as follows: Physical Development, Relationships and Social Development,
Educational History and Career Development, Cognitive Performance, and Views and
Attitudes Towards Aging. By going through these categories I will attempt to
determine whether my father is a developing at healthy rate, or if he is simply going
crazy.
The first category discussed was Physical Development. When asked about how his
body is physically changing, Rick stated that, I feel like I am gaining so much

this is very concerning for Rick, it is normal part of adult ... Show more content on

his fluid intelligence, the ability to process problems, has declined (No author

through crossword puzzles or brain exercises. Rick stated that he has not
experienced any issues with his memory, and that the does not see a difference in
his ability in recall ad recognition. This is odd because typically adults find that will
their recognition ability is the same, their recall ability declines (Notes May 2,2017).

The Violence Against Women Act (1919)
Violence against women is any act of gender based violence that results in, or is
likely to result in, physical, sexual or mental harm or suffering to women . The
violence against women could be considered to always be an issue since from the
beginning women were lower than men. But over time it got worse and men could
beat and just overall control women and it all goes unpunished. Its impact can be
physical, sexual and cause mental issues for women and girls, even including death.
In the US, women started to work outside of the house and began to be taken
seriously and as a result, in 1919, the women s voting act let women have the right to
vote and have equality for women. The ViolenceAgainst Women Act was also a

A Report On The Plane
When most people hear an airplane in the air they may look up and see just
another airplane. They don t think about how the airplane evolved. They also don
t consider any of the material it requires to achieve this most amazing feat. It s just
another aircraft carrying people or items to their destination. The journey began,
as most of us have been taught, in 1903 by the Wright brothers when they flew
their airplane for the first time. The aircraft was crudely constructed, using modern
materials for the time. Some of these materials included wood for the air frame,
muslin fabric for covers, and aluminum for the engine crank case (Smithsonian
National Air and Space Museum). In today s aircraft some of the same materials
are used especially aluminum. This case study will focus on one item used within
many small engine aircraft; a servo bracket. A servo bracket sounds like an
insignificant piece of hardware but in fact a servo bracket is a very important part
of the airplane, with a very long life cycle. The servo bracket holds the servo which
is connected directly to the airplane s control system, thus putting the bracket under
continuous tension and stress. The bracket itself is not responsible for the entire
strain of the control system, this is accomplished by using much more rigid braces,
and the braces take the brunt of the stress. The bracket s construction has to be from
material that is formable, light and semi strong. The materials must be machine
formable in order

many snacks as possible without gaining weight? Recently, Proctor Gamble
developed Olestra (sucrose polyester), a zero calorie fat based substitute, at a cost of
$200 million. This product has been approved by the Federal Drug Administration

What is olestra?
The olestra molecule differs from a fat molecule in that it has six to eight fatty acids
on a sucrose core, as opposed to three fatty acids on a glycerol core. The bulkier
olestra molecule is not digested, absorbed , or metabolized, and thus provides no
calories (Stern Hermann Zaidins ,1992 ). It has the same taste and texture of fat, ...

Are there any side effects?
There are some interesting drawbacks to olestra. Olestra causes diarrhea and
affects the absorption of Vitamins A, D, E, and K. In essence, olestra acts like a
giant sponge, taking nutrients out of the body before they have a chance to be
absorbed in the intestines. Olestra may cause abdominal cramping and loose stools
in some individuals, and inhibits the body s absorption of certain fat soluble
vitamins and nutrients, said Commissioner of Food and Drugs, David A. Kessler,
M.D. ( http://www.fda.gov/bbs/topics/NEWS/NEW00524.html). In one study,
almost one half of the group reported having diarrhea, bloating, and gas
disturbances after eating eight grams of olestra, the equivalent of less than the
amount of olestra in one ounce of potato chips (http://plainfield.bypass.com
/%7Etwilbur/olestra.html). Since olestra blocks Vitamins A, D, E, and K, these
nutrients cannot protect us against disease. The FDA requires that Vitamins A, D,
E, and K be added to all products with olestra. Olestra also blocks the absorption of
beta carotene. Foods rich in beta carotene, such as sweet potatoes, broccoli,
cantaloupe, and many other fruits and vegetables protect the immune system, and
act as a buffer against cancer and heart disease. Studies have shown that eating even a
small snack bag of olestra fried potato chips can reduce blood levels of beta carotene

Analysis Of The Movie King s Landing
King s Landing Aviva stood on her balcony which she watched the busyness of
King s Landing. She took a deep breath of the dust of the city as she closed her
eyes in imagination. If only I wasn t Aviva Waters, I would be among with them.
Imagine all the freedom I d receive. Aviva Waters! How many times I told you not
go to the balcony, said Aviva s mother, Queen Regent Cersei. Aviva didn t even
bother to argue with her mother as she knew she is a disappointment in her mother
s eyes. Doesn t matter now. Come and sit down. I have something important to tell
you. Aviva followed her mother back into her room. She sat down across her
mother. There was a silence. Cersei just stared at her then stirred in the chair which
Aviva knew it s not good news. It was never a good news whenever her mother
wishes to speak her in private. Mmm. Aviva. My poor and unlucky bastard. Aviva
rolled her eyes as she was annoyed with her mother, I don t have time to sit here all
day. Cut to point. Aviva Waters! This is no way a lady to speak to your Mother.
You better to keep your mouth shut if I am to marry you to Saelyr Pyke. You re
marrying me to another bastard. choked Aviva as she learned the fact that she will
never gain the power of respect from the people. It s either Pyke Bastard or a
bastard nun, take your pick. said Cersei sharply. Aviva nodded in understanding.
Maybe she will finally escape her mother s stronghold and gain more independence in
Pyke.
Reflection Paper On Regular Council Meeting
Regular City Council Meeting
I have always prided myself as a person who knows virtually everything that
happens around my community. It is common for humans to judge or misjudge
what they do not know or understand. Too often we are quick to criticize and lash
after what other people say or do simply because we do not understand it. This fact
describes the character and attitude of many people especially when it comes to
politics and how a country is run right from the top to the bottom. The average
people is generally unconcerned with political affairs like how politicians spend
their tax money. You only need to look at the dismally low voter turn out to confirm
this fact. This should to change and for me, this change came on 26th October 2017,
when I decided to attend The Tempe City Regular Council Meeting. I had never
attended such a meeting before. Part of the reason is perhaps owing to the attitude
of most people as I explained earlier but more particularly, I had not seen any local
issue that moved me enough to demand the necessity to have my voice heard or to
be curious enough to want to find out about the secrets of the operations of the
local government. Generally, I knew that the decisions made and policies developed
by the city government affected my life directly or indirectly. However, to sit and
watch all the work and grind that goes to the formulation of these policies and
decisions has made me realize that democracy is not self driving.
The Chambers
After completing my classes for the day, I went directly to Tempe City Hall City
Council Chambers which is housed in the Harry E. Mitchell Government Center. As I
got in two minutes before the official starting time, the room was almost fully
occupied but I was lucky to secure a seat at a position where I could follow the
proceedings comfortably. The chamber is divided into two seating areas one for the
Council Members and the other for the members of the public. The two areas face
each other and are separated in the middle by a corridor that connects to two main
entrance/exit points. The area accommodating the councilmembers is at a relatively
elevated angle compared to the area where the citizens sit to facilitate easy and
effective engagement.

Introduction
Communication styles in negotiation are probably one of the most important skills or
characteristics one will develop over a lifetime. From the point a human being begins
to develop cognitive skills, the process of learning and understanding situations

characteristics of communication and its role in negotiation. To better understand the

In Negotiation fifth edition, threats are defined by five linguistic dimensions:
polarizing, immediacy, intensity, lexical diversity, and high power language style.
Polarizing language is the choice of words when describing ones position to make
it appear positive and the use of negative words when describing an opponent s
side. Verbal immediacy is the measurement given through vocabulary that lets the
recipient of the message know the level of urgency affiliated with the message.
Immediacy can be either high or low depending on whether one wants to engage or
distance oneself from the other party. Language intensity identifies how strong one
feels about the situation through use of vocabulary. Possible results of language
intensity are either high or low depending on the level of feelings one wants to
portray to the opposing party. Lexical diversity is the degree of vocabulary that
one uses. Holding a rich vocabulary gives the impression of competence, while
possessing a low level of lexical diversity gives the impression of inexperience.
Last, the extent of a high powered language style means the manner in which one
uses language as the means of being effective. Using a low power language style is
identified by politeness and hesitations; while using a high power language style is
recognized by verbal dominance and clarity. Therefore
Mount Pinatubo Research Paper
On the island of Luzon which is located in the Philippines, tens of thousands lived
on the slopes of Mount Pinatubo, a Composite volcano that was dormant for almost
500 years. That was until 1991 when it had one of the most destructive eruptions
imaginable. The felsic volcano lies on the boundary of the eurasian plate and
philippines plate, which is a subduction zone. The eruption was so powerful that a
caldera was created, as well as being seen as the most destructive eruption of the 20th
century. Avalanches of lava
sped down the sides of the volcano, leaving the previously
deep valleys with 660 feet thick of fresh remains. Clouds of ash climbed as high as
22 miles in the air, as well as it being blown in all directions near ground due to
Six Models Of Abnormality
Models of Abnormality Abnormalities, causes and treatment vary with the different
perspectives. Abnormal behavior causes deviance, distress, dysfunction and/or danger
(Comer, 2012). Researchers have formed their own models explaining abnormality.
Biology, the mysteries of the unconscious, behavior, thoughtprocesses, self awareness
and relationships with society and cultures have influenced the six models of
abnormality along with treatment methods for each.
Biological Model The biological model is based on a medical/physical perspective to
abnormality. Dysfunction is the product of physical malfunctions such as brain
messages not functioning properly and certain inherited genes. Poor message
transmission can cause depression while inherited genes can lead to mood disorders
and schizophrenia (Suinn, 1988). Treatments such as drug therapy, occur when
physical causes of the abnormality are found. Drug therapy uses drugs that effect one
s emotional process and thought process. For example, antidepressants would be
given to someone that has depression to elevate the mood, while antipsychotic drugs
would help alleviate hallucinations and delusions for one with psychotic disorders
(Comer, 2012). The biological model focuses on curing physical ailments for
abnormality while others focus on the mind and the environment as the sole cause for
abnormality.
The Psychodynamic Model The psychodynamic model has abnormalities stemming
from the mind. Forces from the environment are at
Describe The Relationship Between Harrie And Sherman
Wuff, wuff!, just kidding I am a talking dog. and I m his human son. Those are my
favorite characters from the movie Mr.Peabody and Sherman. Mr. Peabody is the
father of Sherman, he s a nerd and so is Sherman because of Mr. Peabody. One day,
Sherman s friend came over to have dinner and she went and touched the time
machine but Sherman didn t stop her. The character Sherman is not as smart as
Mr.Peabody because Sherman made a huge mistake that could destroy time.
The characters Peabody and Sherman have a lot in common. First of all, the are
boys who focus on time travel. Also, the characters are related to each other and
wear glasses. In, addition they are both smart people and best friends who try to
accomplish a goal, and it is trying
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Playing Laptop
A catchy article that was submitted by Phil Reusch on the 20th September 2010,
titled What are the Disadvantages of using a gaming laptop? concerns deeply about
the inconvenience things that may come about if we are having a gaming laptop,
rather than having any kind of common laptop. Like we can see in our daily life,
people who likely or tend to play games commonly have a desire to own a gaming
laptop, since gaming laptop could runs various updated programs that common
laptop doesn t do it as best as gaming laptop, Phil discussed. Besides that, Phil
Reusch also pointed more about its negative effects about having those gaming
laptops. This article probably focused more to the persons who are about to have
gaming laptop, however it is still... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance is that the battery couldn t last so long and it is insignificant because
it runs to many complex and various program, not that only common program that
usual laptop does, but in gaming laptop it rather needs high end resolution which
make the gaming laptop program need to runs more and thus it needs more energy.
But here in the article Phil said, because of the fairly worthless battery life, we ll
be stuck near a plug. I quiet disagree with it since even if we need a plug, how far
the plug would it be since the cable will be long enough to reach. Different
condition if we are talking about somewhere with no plug. That s quiet cranky too
since will we really going to play games even in places with no plug? We can easily
imagine how those place condition is and I assumed it is totally impossible to
busy ourselves by playing games. Then in other side, Phil discussed about the
weight which is making more burden. I agree with this since in fact the program
and the hardware itself are much thicker than usual laptop. This is also a problem
for anyone who about to carry it everywhere they go. And yes, not only its laptop
we re going to carry, but also it s complementary; like battery charger, mouse, disc,
and other accessories like headset incase. The other disadvantage is
A Feminist Study of quot; The Dead quot; Essay
As the last story of James Joyce s short story collection, The Dubliners, The Dead is
about a young Dubliner s one day of attending his aunts party and his emotional
changes after the party ends. In the paralyzed city the young man feels the
atmosphere of death everywhere. And he often has misunderstandings with people,
especially women including his wife. From the main character Gabriel s experience,
we can see his personal life is in a strained circumstances. This difficult situation is
probably caused by his failure to deal with the relationship with the female characters.
Many events happen in the story prove that he can not get a real freedom until he
understands the value of womanto improve the mutual relationship.

His reaction also reveals about his ability to relate to women and to people of other
social classes is not strong. Another thing worths noticing is that the name Lily , a
kind of white flower, has a symbol meaning. People use the flower in the funeral, so
the caretaker s daughter is a living symbol of death who stands at the gate letting
guests in. So she stands for a key to getting into women inner world. Thus Gabriel s
attemp to understand women inner world fails.
Conflict also happens between Gabriel and Miss Ivors. Miss Ivors is a typicalized
nationalists. She directly attacks Gabriel for writing for The Daily Express. She
feels ashamed of him and says to him, to say you d write for a paper like that, I
didn t think you were a West Briton (130). She criticized his anti nationalist
attitudes and goes away in the middle of the party. This conflict makes Gabriel feel
unpleasant and sad. He is angry because he thinks she had tried to make him
ridiculous before people, heckling him and staring at him with her rabbit s eyes
(132). He tries to relief his nervousness by turning to sit beside Freddy Malins
mother who talks those tribble things to him. It doesn t help him banish from his
mind all memory of the unpleasant incident with Miss Ivors (132). From Gabriel s
conflict with Miss Ivors we can see that he cann t achieve the approvement
The Impacts Of John Dalton And The Atomic Theory
John Dalton and the Atomic Theory John Dalton was an English chemist,
meteorologist and physicist. John Dalton was one of the first scientists to use
homemade instruments to make weather observations. He recorded over 20,000
weather observations over a period of 57 years,(Retrieved from Infobase Learning).
His fascination for the weather and atmosphere pursue him to research the nature of
gases, which in turn lead him to his biggest accomplishment. He built the atomic
theory, after two centuries, this theory still remain valid in the field of modern
chemistry. John Daltonis considered to be the father of modern atomic theory.
John Dalton Pursues Chemistry John Dalton a Quaker kid didn t receive a formal
education in his childhood. However, he got a basic grounding in reading, writing
and math in a Quaker school. John Fletcher a teacher in the school inspired the young
to solve mathematical problems, a skill John Dalton quickly mastered. Elihu

He considered that gases must be made up of particles that can somehow occupy
spaces between particles that make up water. Also, that in a mixture of gases the
different particles must intermingle rather than separate into layers depending on
their density. Dalton performed experiments to test and correct his atomic theory. As
every scientist John Dalton makes mistakes. He made a mistake in assuming that the
simplest compound of two elements must be binary, formed from atoms of each
element in a 1:1 ratio. This postulate prevented his theory from being accepted for
many years. Many of the atomic weights were incorrect and later corrected. For
example, he said oxygen atomic weight was seven instead of eight. Although he
committed little mistakes, Dalton s theory provided a logical explanation of
concepts, and led the way into new fields of experimentation.
How does The Atomic Theory Affects
Interdependence On Inequality
One, must also look to the effects of interdependence on inequality between nations.
When looking at inequality among nations, Melinda Hills, examines the
internationalization of markets, tax competition, and volatility of markets. Capital
and Labour are assets becoming more fluid in the interdependent world. This leads
to the race to the bottom as shown above, and the effects negatively impact
industrialized countries the most. As shown in the article, industrialized countries
will lose jobs through companies outsourcing to cheaper areas to produce. This
leads in a shift in industrialized economies, workers in the industrial sector now
earn lower wages working in service sector, and high skilled workers obtain a rise in
income. This leads... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In an ever connected world, travel among states in increasingly common and
accepted. However, a state must maintain power to secure its borders.
Interdependence opens states to threats around the world. For example, the Ebola
virus broke out in West Africa in March 2014, and by October of that year the United
States reported its first case of the virus. The disease also spread to many European
countries. Now, many will point out that this disease was concentrated in Africa, did
not affect the United States or Europe heavily, and does not show the danger of
interdependence and less border security. However, the effect of the disease in other
areas of the world does not matter, all that is being shown is the rate at which
something can spread in the interdependent world. If there were a disease that was
more resistive to Western medical advances one could see how this level of
interdependence could lead to terrible outcomes. Another example that is relevant
in this age of easy travel between countries is that of terrorist organizations. ISIS is
a prime example of how less border security leads to larger threats. ISIS has claimed
credit for and has perpetrated themselves many terrorist attacks abroad. Not only
should nations have stronger border security to stop ISIS affiliates from entering a
country, but also be able to screen individuals leaving the country as to make sure
they are not involved in terrorist groups. Now some may argue that nations can build
up their border security while remaining interconnected, however, as we see it is
cause and effect. Interdependence makes countries border security
California s Right to Know Act
California Right to Know Act: Time Newspaper has learnt that it s not surprising that
Internet companies have electronic dossiers that contain personal information for
individuals who subscribe to the websites. Generally, these companies have obtained
the information from people based on individual s visit to the website, sent and
received emails, tagged photos, and searches people carry out. However, the extent of
personal information known by these Internet companies has remained largely
unknown as well who they provide and/or sell this information to. However, Internet
companies continue to gather lots of personal information from different people who
focus on carrying out online activities on a daily basis. Currently, it s estimated that
these firms gather personal information from nearly 500 million users but are hesitant
to provide this information to the other firms or individuals. As their unwillingness to
share has attracted significant congressional inquiry, things could finally change in
California following the introduction of a bill that may force companies to disclose
the kind of personal information they have gathered and how this information is
being used. Summary of California s Right to Know Act: California s Right to Know
Act has been a long overdue bill in the State s legislature that seeks to force Internet
companies like Facebook and Google to disclose the collected personal information
and the use of that information (Cohen, 2013). The introduction

One man s life or death were but a small price to pay for the acquirement of the
knowledge which I sought, for the dominion I should acquire and transmit over the
elemental foes of our race. (Mary Shelley, Frankenstein)
When I was a very young child, my mom died. It was an accident, or, at least, that s
what my dad always told me. I never quite believed it, but I knew better than to
push it at that time. Because I had a sister to support Samantha. She was four years
younger than me, and she was my responsibility from the very beginning. Or so my
father tried to convince me. I was always to be taking care of Sammy Sammy came

Sammy never did anything wrong, Sammy never told a lie. Sammy loved our fake

We were a military family. Well, that was how Dad explained it to me. Moving
from place to place, house to house... Except it was never really a house. After I
was four, after Mom died, we never settled. We d stay a week in an apartment in
Ohio, two in a motel in Alabama. But, mostly, we lived out of a car that didn t meet
safety standards for our time, as though we were a nomadic family. All because Mom
died.
If it was an accident, why would my family be running? That was what we were
doing, I learned that when I was a small child. When I found my father s journal
and found out what he was doing when he left wherever we were staying. He d

always with the same command, Take care of Sammy. I assumed that he was
looking for a job, so that we d be able to settle down and start living normally again,
like we had before Mom had died. Finding his journal made me realize something
entirely more sinister was going
Who Is Joan Of Arc
Joan of Arc Biographical Essay
Almost everyone has seen Disney s Mulan. They watched it as a child and Mulan s
story inspired every little girl who watched it to live their life with no limitations, but
there is another lesser known story that would inspire little girls even more as this
time the story is true. The woman in this story dressed up as a man in order to fight
for her country. This woman led an army to victory. This woman was publicly
burned at the stake and she did so with dignity. This woman s name is Joan of Arc
and she did all of this before she was 20. Joan of Arc was born in Doremy, Bar,
France in 1412, an age where women barely had any purpose other than to raise
children and take care of their husband. She wasn t
Religious Mosaic Of Contemporary America
In this essay I will be concluding what I have learned through out the course from
the text. I will be discussing how Islamophobia played a big part in each lesson,
though it wasn t highly stated in the first few readings, I believe it was a constant
theme. Lastly, I will be addressing a persona I felt that was throughout the in class
discussions, and readings about US (Americans) vs THEM (Muslims).
Islamophobia is a hatred or fear of the religion of Islam, Muslims, and of their
politics or culture. Muslims struggle for recognition of their beliefs and practices
within the religious mosaic of contemporary America (3, Shari a ...U.S.).America
was founded on Christian principles, though many of our Founding Fathers would
disagree, it s true. But there is every reason to believe that religion, particularly the
idea of God, played a constitutive role in the thought of the early American
statesmen (1, The Ideal of Civil Religion). This is one of the reasons why
Islamophobia exists, because the idea of another religion entering into America
scares people. By reading Kambiz GhaneaBassiri Islam in America I able to obtain
knowledge on how Islam migrated to the New World before and during the Atlantic
Slave Trade. In past classes, we discussed Islamic acculturation to Catholicism, and
how slaves felt the need to conform to the dominate culture/religion because of
constant pressure that was placed on them by the Europeans and the Spaniards. But
my argument was that
What Doesn T Bowe Bergdahl Deserve To Behaving Before
The...
In United States Military, particularly the Army, all soldiers both men and women,
take an oath to protect and defend the United States Constitution. However, there is
one soldier named Bowe Bergdahl who thought that it would be okay to just leave
his post, without letting his squad know where he was going, and thus creating a
controversy that has rocked the political environment in Washington D.C. After
listening to the Serial Podcast by Sarah Koneig and hearing all the interviews from
political leaders, former squad mates, and even reporters, it is fair to come to the
conclusion that Bowe Bergdahl deserves to be charged with Desertion and
Misbehaving before the enemy. In this essay, I am going to briefly explain why
Bergdahl deserves to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While it was known that Bergdahl was kidnapped by Taliban, some of the things that
he said about the United States are quite troubling. For example, the Taliban
released a video of Bergdahl saying this, I am ashamed to be an American. And the
title of U.S. soldier is just the lie of fools. This is not only showing disrespect to the
United States, but by hearing Bowe Bergdahl make this very profound statement, this
clearly shows why he deserves to be charged with Misbehaving before the enemy.
Another way to show that Bergdahl deserves to charged with Misbehaving before the
enemy, is by looking at the other comment that Bergdahl made. For example, in
another video that was released, Bergdahl said this, The horror that is America is
disgusting. By watching Bergdahl make this statement, this gives another reason on
why he deserves to be charged with Misbehaving before the enemy.
To conclude, everybody will have their different opinions on Bowe Bergdahl. Some
people believe that he is a prisoner of war and that he doesen t need to be charged,
and others will believe that he is an utter traitor and that he deserves to be charged.
Whether you believe that he is guilty or not, you simply cannot deny the evidence.
Sure, Bowe Bergdahl suffered in captivity, but even though that this might be the
case, what he did on the other hand

Monter Inc. Movie Essay
Reverse Monsterfication
Throughout the length of the movie, I was taken back to my childhood when there
were monsters in my own closet. Over the years, the monsters have all died and
been replaced by just as scary skeletons, so my closet is still full. However, to a
young child monsters are still lurking in the shadows, and they still make the floor
creak. The approach taken by the writers of this film is one of uniqueness and of
originality. By successfully juxtaposing the situation between monster and child, the
writers were able to confront a touchy subject head on. This was reached through a
combination of differences represented by the monsters in the movie and between the
child s impression of monsters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Behind all of the flashy animation and the famous voice overs there are an infinite
amount of messages and information forming ideas for the young child to grasp on to.
It is the strong story told in the movie which makes it work for children to
understand. This story line could be told by Joseph Bruchac while beating on a
drum, and it could give the child the very same lessons and ideas as did the movie.
That is not to say that the animation and other effects added by the producers does
the story harm, just that the story is strong enough to carry the movie on its own.
There are certainly some lessons to be learned in the movie as well. Perhaps the
strongest lesson taught in the movie is that you should never judge a book by its
cover. What may be perceived as undesirable or unpleasant, may actually turn out
to be lovely and desirable. The other lesson, which is obviously trying to be taught,
is to not be scared of monsters. Whether or not the movie achieves this goal I do
not know. In the human world scenes, the monsters were always very fierce and
scary, and in the monster world, children appear to be very unwanted and even
hunted. Perhaps the best teacher of this lesson is the large bear named Sullivan. He
is the one who shows the child audience that all though he is a monster, he is full of
love and peace and concern for the safety of the young girl.
Persuasive Essay On The Giver
The Giver Persuasive Essay Jonas has not been assigned, She informed the crowd,
and his heart sank. Then she went on. Jonas has been selected. The quote pertained
to this story due to the significance that Jonas had differentiated from his peers that
had their differences acknowledged by the Elders themselves, each with their own
desires within a career. The quote influenced Jonas his decisions within the
chapters beyond the quote within the story, nevertheless brought Jonas his
viewpoint of the situation and his decision into escaping from the community with
Gabe to journey off Elsewhere. For example, Gabe had been planned for release
the same day Jonas had escaped from the community, due to Jonas significant
viewpoints he couldn t bare the loss of Gabe, especially since he would be the only
few to discover the true meaning behind being released. In the end of The Giver,
Jonas and Gabriel had hallucinated while freezing to death because of the wild
berries, the memories, and the physical limits of his human body. For example, the
wild berries can be a source of toxicity, accordingly to the facts within real berries, a
total of fifty thousand people have been reported from exposure to toxic plants, many
of which were wild berries. Additionally, many of the outcomes reported were either
minor or moderate effects, few of which results in major effects or death while most
of which resulted in unknown outcomes within the year of 2010. These statistics have
Thomas Hobbes and Modern Liberalism
Introduction
Thomas Hobbes is frequently credited as being a forefather to modern liberalism.
With his beliefs on individualism, along with his agreeance and acceptance of
intellectual and moral autonomy it is easy to understand why many modern liberals
would agree with Hobbes s political philosophy. However, Thomas Hobbes does not
support the concept of a democratic government, rather he supported the notion of a
absolutist government up until his death. Special attention must be given to Hobbes s
denial that autonomy can be thought of, or conceived as, a form of self government.
It is important to take note that Hobbes s argument against democracy is significantly
more exhaustive than merely autonomy. Hobbes believes that democracy ... Show

Hobbes stated in Philosophical rudiments concerning government and society a
substantial group of that size is an unsound group for though in their persons they run
together, yet they concur not always in their designs. (Hobbes, 1651, p. 126). What
Hobbes is saying here is that prior to any type of government being implemented the
group must unify its self. Hobbes then makes a realization that men who meet
together with the intention to build a city were a democracy due to the meeting
(Hobbes, 1640). Of the three forms of government:
The first in order of time... is democracy; and it must be so of necessity, because an
aristocracy and a monarchy require nomination of persons agreed upon, which
agreement in a great multitude of men, must consist in the consent of the major part;
and where the votes of the major part involve the votes of the rest, there is actually a
democracy (Hobbes, 1651, pp. 138 139)
As one can clearly see it is evident that democracy, in this state of affairs at least, is
not equal to either monarchy or aristocracy because democracy is by institution, the
beginning both of aristocracy and monarchy (Hobbes, 1651, p. 141). Wise men will
rapidly and swiftly substitute either aristocracy or monarchy due to the fact that
democracy is a predominantly unstable and unreliable type of government. Now that
a foundation has been laid and we have a better understanding of

Murder Essay

  • 1. Murder Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of murder is an inherently challenging endeavor. The topic itself is laden with ethical, moral, and emotional complexities that require careful consideration and navigation. Addressing such a sensitive and controversial theme demands a balanced approach, as the writer must walk a fine line between providing objective analysis and acknowledging the gravity of the subject matter. One of the primary difficulties lies in maintaining a detached and analytical tone while discussing a topic that inherently elicits strong emotions. Striking the right balance between empathy for the victims and a dispassionate examination of the causes and consequences of murder is a delicate task. The need for thorough research to support arguments and provide a comprehensive understanding of the topic further intensifies the challenge. Moreover, the essay must navigate legal, psychological, and sociological perspectives, requiring a multifaceted analysis that adds another layer of complexity. The writer must grapple with questions surrounding the motives behind murders, the impact on communities, and the efficacy of legal systems in preventing and addressing such acts. Crafting a coherent and ethical narrative is essential, as the essay should avoid glorifying or sensationalizing violence. Striving for objectivity while maintaining sensitivity to the human aspects of the issue demands a nuanced and thoughtful approach. In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of murder requires a high level of skill, empathy, and a commitment to responsible discourse. Navigating the intricate web of ethical considerations, emotional sensitivity, and the multifaceted nature of the subject poses a considerable challenge. Aspiring writers may find it beneficial to seek guidance, conduct thorough research, and approach the topic with the utmost care to ensure a well-rounded and thought-provoking exploration. For those seeking assistance in tackling such complex essays or exploring a range of topics, it's worth considering professional services like HelpWriting.net. Murder Essay Murder Essay
  • 2. Tobacco Products And Its Effects On Children And Young Adults In an effort to discourage the consumption of tobacco products in India, a ban was issued stopping advertising and sponsoring of sporting events. This ban was brought to the table with the intentions of keeping the citizens of India from undue influence towards the use of a product that when used to the satisfaction of its producers would result in major health issues and eventual death. The use of tobaccoproducts is directly attributable to the deaths of 3 million people in 1990 and the eventual death of 10 million people in the year 2030. Those in favor of the ban argued that a government that provides health insurance for the very people it collects taxes from in the purchase of the product that leads to their eventual illness is one... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Increased spending on these products, more labor intensive than the production of tobacco related products, is more likely to increase employment as demands for tobacco products decreased and the demand for other products increased. Though the ban on the advertisement of cigarettes would decrease the number of jobs related to the farming of tobacco and the production of cigarettes, increased demand in other sectors would more than compensate for those losses. Those who seek to impose the ban also argue that the government is responsible for the well being of its constituents in all aspects. A government that would collect a tax for the sale of a product with known health risks that it is often responsible for treating in the long wrong is not a government that is protecting its people. Even from themselves. Those who are in opposition to the ban have myriad reasons for their argument. One such argument is that the government should not act as unilaterally as to have sway over such personal decisions and has cited several countries similar bans and their results to discredit the possible ban as being ineffective. The government s responsibility to the costs of treating tobacco influenced illness have been argued as moot because the patients who would choose to smoke would shuffle off of this mortal coil before their disease became a cost that would outpace the taxes collected from tobacco sales. The bas,

  • 4. The Journey in A Good Man Is Hard to Find by Flannery... The Journey in A Good Man Is Hard to Find by Flannery O Connor In A Good Man Is Hard to Find, Flannery O Connor s character searches for grace and redemption in a world full of sin. Grimshaw states, each one, nonetheless, is free to choose, free to accept or reject Grace (6). The Grandmother in A Good Manis Hard to Find, is on a journey for grace and forgiveness in a world where the redemption she is searching for proves to be hard to find. The Grandmother often finds herself at odds with the rest of her family. Everyone feels her domineering attitude over her family, even the youngest child knows that she s afraid she d miss something she has to go everywhere we go (Good Man 2). Yet this accusation doesn t seem to phase ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The grandmother s chance at grace comes at the end of the story when she makes the gesture and reaches out to touch the Misfit. The grandmother finally realizes that she is responsible in some way, for the man before her (Mystery and Manners 110). This is the grandmother s final chance at accepting the grace she has longed to have. Hendin states each story in A Good Man is Hard to Find embodies a visible sign of invisible grace (17). Yet these pictures of grace are often hard to find. McMullen goes on to say: The good man is hard to find because language and events in the realistic narrative have given us a brutal murder whose meaning we look for in humanistic terms instead of O Connor s hint of Grace that has its efficacy in a world beyond the constructed one in the story (10). O Connor herself warns us to be on the lookout for such things as the actions of grace in the Grandmother s soul, and not for the dead bodies (Mystery and Manners 112). Eggenschwiler probably expresses Ms. O Connor s purpose best, In her stories, grace is most often enlightenment, especially about oneself it is the fulfillment of a character s nature (132). The Grandmother learns more about her own character, through the actions of grace. Eggenschwiller explains the acceptance of grace by the grandmother: In the end of the story it is not The Misfit,
  • 5. Timothy Mcgrew Contradictions In the first part of Dr. Timothy McGrew s discussion on the dependability of Acts and Luke as an author, McGrew shows and proceeds to interact with the opposing view held by Dr. Bart Ehrman. McGrew respectfully goes through each of Ehrman s negative and misguided beliefs on the contradictions and errors Erhman believes there to be in the book of Acts. Investigating the first apparent contradiction Acts 1:12 vs Luke 24:50, Ehrman holds that Luke unreliably claims Jesusas ascending into heaven on the same day that he rose from the dead and met with the disciples. However, he asserts the opposite is stated in Acts and therefore portraying a different picture where the resurrection, ascension, and the meeting of the disciples did not all occur on the same day. McGrew reassesses each chapter and displays to the audience the literal text, which does not show any signs of opposition when placed in regards to each other. Merely, the text displays a writing style known as telescoping in which events are misperceived as being in a time either more distant or more recent than the reality. Thus being the case with the aforementioned contradiction where Jesus seems to either relax in his activities or overload everything into a singular day.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each scripture Erhman boldly presents as an endeavour to establish his viewpoint has most often shown to be grotesquely misinterpreted or seemingly under analyzed. Such as seen in the instance of Acts 9:7 vs 22:9 where, when viewed in various Bible versions, any likely contradictions of the verses wither away. The error more so found in Erhman s failure to look at different translations before making his assumption. McGrew, therefore, asserts that Bart Erhman can hold no merit to his oppositions of Luke as an inaccurate and unreliable

Netflix suffers from competition from companies such as Amazon prime. Both of these companies compete to gain customers in this compact market. Netflix s corporate strategy fits in with their business level strategy as they deal mainly with DVD rental via online streaming. The deal that is in place with Warner bros has a major impact on how Netflix conducts itself. If other online streaming companies don t face this deal of not being allowed to stream their contents untill 28 days after the public release date then other companies have a competitive advantage which would lower Netflix s revenue. This would cause customers to leave Netflix as they may be able to see films at an earlier date with rival

  • 9. Nuclear Power And Its Effects On The World On October 24th, Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders said, Climate Change is real! Climate Change is caused by human activity! Climate Change is affecting all parts of the world. Sanders speaks about the disruption of ecosystems, the dying of species, and the destruction of earth s atmosphere. The creation of increased greenhouse gases caused by heavy reliance on fossil fuel energy has disrupted Earth s equilibrium. Sanders calls for alternative energy in America; hailing countries that have transformed their fossil fuel dependency. Nuclear poweris a relevant factor in alternative energy for policy makers. In the 1950 s, anticipation for nuclear energy was very high, people thought that new advancements in nuclear energy would make electricity free. Nuclear power was successfully implemented for commercial use in 1954 Russia. Since then a total of 438 nuclear reactors were created around the world, including the United States, with 67 still under construction. Nuclear power support has always waned throughout the years, reaching high points of investment when oil prices skyrocketed in the 1970 s. Nuclear power is praised for its efficiency and minimal environmental impacts, however common misconceptions about the danger of nuclear power/power plants, discredit nuclear energy as a better alternative to fossil fuels. The Soviet Union spent large sums of money constructing a successful nuclear power plant. The first nuclear reactor that produced commercial

  • 11. National Budget Cuts Consequently, a loss in the artisan and artistic labor markets will have a greater effect on society than just a loss in workforce numbers. A loss in artists, musicians, craftsmen, or any largely creativity based occupation, would lead to a major decline in new creative inventions and innovations. Not only is technology damaging the arts, but also education. (Szekely, 2016, para.11 14) Budget cuts for art and music classes have gone through the roof. Over just the past ten years national funding for the art has dropped nearly 25%. In recent national budget plans national funding for the arts has taken an even larger setback. Makerspaces help inspire technological creativity and innovation that allows members to create idea prototypes and experiment new technological advancements. (Thompson, 2015, A World Without Work, p.56) The use of makerspaces can help counter the negative effect of new technology against the workforce and encourages cooperation between man and machine. It not only encourages creativity but also allows for socializing to those who share interest in similar ideas and innovations. Makerspaces also require individual learning and does not entitle members to rely on technology itself. While Isaac Asimov (author of I, Robot) may believe that machines will almost certainly replace human labor in the future, members of makerspaces believe that the job of the human race is to harness the power of machines and use it for our own creative good without letting it take advantage of workers. Much like museums are used to preserve the culture and history of the past, makerspaces will be used to preserve the creativity and innovation of the human workforce in the

Kingsolver s education in biology is exposed throughout her novel causing the readers to experience a more scientific perspective on the story. The story takes place inside Dellarobia Turnbow s mind; a restless farmers wife who got pregnant at seventeen and, as a result, had a shotgun marriage. Her life since then has been a wreck. Her marriage is deteriorating, her farm is failing and she finds no more joy in her life. She attempts to rendezvous with a man to temporarily help fill the emptiness in her life. This passage helps to characterize Ovid Byron as a scientist. For example, when he says since God set them loose here, as you say, he develops a scientific stance on the subject by pointing out that they believe God put these insects here and that he stands apart from their beliefs and believes that the butterflies were a cause of evolution. Ovid s scientific status helps the reader throughout the rest of the novel to better understand the monarchs. Until this point Dellarobia didn t know that the monarchs were in danger. The reader can infer from this passage, based on information gathered previously in the novel, that the monarchs had to adapt to living on the Turnbows farm because of the floods in Mexico. The butterflies help develop a central theme of adapting to survive, however as the reader progresses in the novel they learn that the monarchs are actually dying regardless of their attempt to adjust to the change. The butterflies reflect on Dellarobias character, causing the reader to notice the similarities between the butterflies and her. Dellarobia is the most important character of the story. Through her we see the drastic changes in her behavior and actions. She has always lived an unfortunate life; with her shotgun marriage and her miscarriage she is unable to pursue her dream of becoming more educated. In today s society of internet sex crimes being broadcast on the evening news and 60 Minutes doing specials at least once a month. Are we paying enough attention to other sexual crimes and problems, such as the laws pertaining to juvenile sex offenders and their victims? Could more be done to help and protect the perpetrators, victims and their families? It is my opinion that the laws pertaining to juvenile sex offenders need to be adjusted. The juveniles are more likely to have experienced such behavior as victims in the past, and do not realize such behavior is wrong. According to some research that psychologists have done, they suggest that a juvenile sex offender commits sexual acts due to unsound judgments. They feel as if the offender does not look at all the information involved, unless it involves a scheme to commit a criminal act. If he decides something is true, then it must be. Most decisions he makes are damaging because they are based on ignorance, myths, and rumors. In a commentary written by Gregory K. Fritz, M.D. FBI data from 1995, for example, indicate that individuals under the age of 18 years old comprised almost 16 percent of those arrested for forcible rape and 17 percent of those arrested for all other sex offenses. Studies of adults convicted of sex offenses suggest that approximately half began their sexually abusive behavior as juveniles. According to an article by Michele McNeil, at least 32 states have laws requiring juvenile sex offenders to register with local law enforcement. In her letter A Mastectomy she describes the illness and the operation, her feelings and fears, to her sister Esther Burney. The letter tells a story of a battle of control and against the feelingof powerlessness. It also speaks of empowerment; writing is Burney s way of regaining control over her operation and making it part of her own history. In this paper I attempt to find and analyse the reasons for Burney s feeling of powerlessness, its describtion in the letter, and the ways she tries to fight it. Mel Watkins, a New York Times book critic, agrees with this statement when he writes in his critical review that black American heroes in Walker s novel withstood the gaudiest abuse a racist, sexist society could offer (Literature Lovers). Watkin s claim about the novel is unquestionable because readers of The Color Purple are exposed to hard working women who attempt to overcome their obstacles brought to them by the male figures in their lives. Watkin also writes that the author s story provoked controversy about Walker s portrayal of black men, which many found offensive and one dimensional (Literature Lovers). The Color Purple can be seen as offensive and one dimensional because people can interpret the author s words as saying: all black men are vituperative. This is not true. Walker is simply trying to demonstrate that it is common for men to be in charge of their wives and be dominative over them in the 1900s (and even today). Watkin simply praises the novel s spark of controversy surrounding very sensitive topics. For Celie, men like Alfonso, Mr.___, and Harpo were all African American men who continuously put her down and gave her a hard time. This does not change until Celie displays her character development in her final letter to God. The Color Purple opens the eyes of the previously blind into the world s aspect of an oppressive

It is unclear to what extent Francesca and Richard work to fix their relationship, but I am convinced they both made a strong effort. They were never going to be perfect for one another, but they lived a full life together. After Richard s death, Francesca reflects on this. Francesca thought of him now and his sturdy kindness, his steady ways, and the even life he had given her (Waller 17). In the end, it was worth staying in Madison County, but that does not mean it was perfect. In Francesca s letter to her children, she tells them about her husband s dying words. My 7 year old brother has Autism and that doesn t define him as a human being, his capabilities defines who he is. He is the reason why I am where I am today, a paraeducator that thrives to help kids in need. Being a paraeducator, our job is to help our students become more independent to prepare them for the real world after school. In order to get a student to be an independent person, is to use strategies. A few strategies I would use is how to properly use fidgets, what the social norm is and ways to improve, and the four questions for a structured task. Fidgets are a great way to keep children calm and collected, but in order for them to work, there needs to be expectations. For me as an adult, I can get a little antsy if I sit for a long period of time to what do I do? I just grab my phone out and mess around on it. In a school setting that cannot happen. Some different alternatives could be a stress ball, fidget cube, bag of marbles, or tangles, etc. Some expectations for the fidgets can be: keep it somewhere where it won t be a distraction, use it nicely and properly, and if it gets in the way of work, then it gets taken away. If expectations get set, fidgets can be a great way to keep your student focused and not get over stimulated while getting their work done. In today s world, we are lacking in social skills, as the technology increases, our social skills decrease. As our children grow up and develop, so does the technology, the kids get stuck behind those screens and tend to forget there are people on the other side of them and that they have feelings. One huge area kids and even adults need to work on is eye contact. When I was in grade school my teachers would say look at their nose or look above their head. Eye gaze would be a great idea to use with children that do not like making direct eye contact. With eye gazing, the child looks in the general direct of where the person they are talking to is looking at. For example, if the other person is looking at a flag, the child would have to see where the person eyes are pointing to, use that person s body to

The journey began, as most of us have been taught, in 1903 by the Wright brothers when they flew their airplane for the first time. The aircraft was crudely constructed, using modern materials for the time. Some of these materials included wood for the air frame, muslin fabric for covers, and aluminum for the engine crank case (Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum). The servo bracket holds the servo which is connected directly to the airplane s control system, thus putting the bracket under continuous tension and stress. This product has been approved by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) with warning labels. What is olestra? The olestra molecule differs from a fat molecule in that it has six to eight fatty acids on a sucrose core, as opposed to three fatty acids on a glycerol core. The bulkier olestra molecule is not digested, absorbed , or metabolized, and thus provides no calories (Stern Hermann Zaidins ,1992 ). It has the same taste and texture of fat, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Are there any side effects? There are some interesting drawbacks to olestra. Olestra causes diarrhea and affects the absorption of Vitamins A, D, E, and K. In essence, olestra acts like a giant sponge, taking nutrients out of the body before they have a chance to be absorbed in the intestines. Olestra may cause abdominal cramping and loose stools in some individuals, and inhibits the body s absorption of certain fat soluble vitamins and nutrients, said Commissioner of Food and Drugs, David A. Kessler, M.D. ( http://www.fda.gov/bbs/topics/NEWS/NEW00524.html). In one study, almost one half of the group reported having diarrhea, bloating, and gas disturbances after eating eight grams of olestra, the equivalent of less than the amount of olestra in one ounce of potato chips (http://plainfield.bypass.com /%7Etwilbur/olestra.html). Since olestra blocks Vitamins A, D, E, and K, these nutrients cannot protect us against disease. The FDA requires that Vitamins A, D, E, and K be added to all products with olestra. Olestra also blocks the absorption of beta carotene. Foods rich in beta carotene, such as sweet potatoes, broccoli, cantaloupe, and many other fruits and vegetables protect the immune system, and act as a buffer against cancer and heart disease. Studies have shown that eating even a small snack bag of olestra fried potato chips can reduce blood levels of beta carotene by 60%

  • 39. Reflection Paper On Regular Council Meeting Regular City Council Meeting I have always prided myself as a person who knows virtually everything that happens around my community. It is common for humans to judge or misjudge what they do not know or understand. Too often we are quick to criticize and lash after what other people say or do simply because we do not understand it. This fact describes the character and attitude of many people especially when it comes to politics and how a country is run right from the top to the bottom. The average people is generally unconcerned with political affairs like how politicians spend their tax money. You only need to look at the dismally low voter turn out to confirm this fact. This should to change and for me, this change came on 26th October 2017, when I decided to attend The Tempe City Regular Council Meeting. I had never attended such a meeting before. Part of the reason is perhaps owing to the attitude of most people as I explained earlier but more particularly, I had not seen any local issue that moved me enough to demand the necessity to have my voice heard or to be curious enough to want to find out about the secrets of the operations of the local government. Generally, I knew that the decisions made and policies developed by the city government affected my life directly or indirectly. However, to sit and watch all the work and grind that goes to the formulation of these policies and decisions has made me realize that democracy is not self driving. The Chambers After completing my classes for the day, I went directly to Tempe City Hall City Council Chambers which is housed in the Harry E. Mitchell Government Center. As I got in two minutes before the official starting time, the room was almost fully occupied but I was lucky to secure a seat at a position where I could follow the proceedings comfortably. The chamber is divided into two seating areas one for the Council Members and the other for the members of the public. The two areas face each other and are separated in the middle by a corridor that connects to two main entrance/exit points. The area accommodating the councilmembers is at a relatively elevated angle compared to the area where the citizens sit to facilitate easy and effective engagement.

From the point a human being begins to develop cognitive skills, the process of learning and understanding situations become more apparent. In Negotiation fifth edition, threats are defined by five linguistic dimensions: polarizing, immediacy, intensity, lexical diversity, and high power language style. Polarizing language is the choice of words when describing ones position to make it appear positive and the use of negative words when describing an opponent s side. Verbal immediacy is the measurement given through vocabulary that lets the recipient of the message know the level of urgency affiliated with the message. Immediacy can be either high or low depending on whether one wants to engage or distance oneself from the other party. Language intensity identifies how strong one feels about the situation through use of vocabulary. Possible results of language intensity are either high or low depending on the level of feelings one wants to portray to the opposing party. Lexical diversity is the degree of vocabulary that one uses. Holding a rich vocabulary gives the impression of competence, while possessing a low level of lexical diversity gives the impression of inexperience. Last, the extent of a high powered language style means the manner in which one uses language as the means of being effective. Using a low power language style is identified by politeness and hesitations; while using a high power language style is recognized by verbal dominance and clarity. Therefore

Abnormal behavior causes deviance, distress, dysfunction and/or danger (Comer, 2012). Researchers have formed their own models explaining abnormality. Biology, the mysteries of the unconscious, behavior, thoughtprocesses, self awareness and relationships with society and cultures have influenced the six models of abnormality along with treatment methods for each. Biological Model The biological model is based on a medical/physical perspective to abnormality. Dysfunction is the product of physical malfunctions such as brain messages not functioning properly and certain inherited genes. Poor message transmission can cause depression while inherited genes can lead to mood disorders and schizophrenia (Suinn, 1988). Treatments such as drug therapy, occur when physical causes of the abnormality are found. Drug therapy uses drugs that effect one s emotional process and thought process. For example, antidepressants would be given to someone that has depression to elevate the mood, while antipsychotic drugs would help alleviate hallucinations and delusions for one with psychotic disorders (Comer, 2012). The biological model focuses on curing physical ailments for abnormality while others focus on the mind and the environment as the sole cause for abnormality. The Psychodynamic Model The psychodynamic model has abnormalities stemming from the mind. Forces from the environment are at

Interdependence opens states to threats around the world. For example, the Ebola virus broke out in West Africa in March 2014, and by October of that year the United States reported its first case of the virus. The disease also spread to many European countries. Now, many will point out that this disease was concentrated in Africa, did not affect the United States or Europe heavily, and does not show the danger of interdependence and less border security. However, the effect of the disease in other areas of the world does not matter, all that is being shown is the rate at which something can spread in the interdependent world. If there were a disease that was more resistive to Western medical advances one could see how this level of interdependence could lead to terrible outcomes. Another example that is relevant in this age of easy travel between countries is that of terrorist organizations. ISIS is a prime example of how less border security leads to larger threats. ISIS has claimed credit for and has perpetrated themselves many terrorist attacks abroad. Not only should nations have stronger border security to stop ISIS affiliates from entering a country, but also be able to screen individuals leaving the country as to make sure they are not involved in terrorist groups. Now some may argue that nations can build up their border security while remaining interconnected, however, as we see it is cause and effect. Interdependence makes countries border security

Behind all of the flashy animation and the famous voice overs there are an infinite amount of messages and information forming ideas for the young child to grasp on to. It is the strong story told in the movie which makes it work for children to understand. This story line could be told by Joseph Bruchac while beating on a drum, and it could give the child the very same lessons and ideas as did the movie. That is not to say that the animation and other effects added by the producers does the story harm, just that the story is strong enough to carry the movie on its own. There are certainly some lessons to be learned in the movie as well. Perhaps the strongest lesson taught in the movie is that you should never judge a book by its cover. What may be perceived as undesirable or unpleasant, may actually turn out to be lovely and desirable. The other lesson, which is obviously trying to be taught, is to not be scared of monsters. Whether or not the movie achieves this goal I do not know. In the human world scenes, the monsters were always very fierce and scary, and in the monster world, children appear to be very unwanted and even hunted. Perhaps the best teacher of this lesson is the large bear named Sullivan. He is the one who shows the child audience that all though he is a monster, he is full of love and peace and concern for the safety of the young girl.
