The importance and value of extended family and family heritage/ memories in Saed s work is
represented by descriptive language, personification and motifs. Saed tells the story of the healing
nature of sharing traumatic memories after hers and her extended family s traumatic experiences.
In the lines, Grandmothers tell the story of healing; how wounds heal only after they have
memorized the moment of hurt... and Mother s veil hangs on the wall like a talisman. Her lapis
doves and tinselled mountains are misplaced and glorified behind plates of glass... (What the Scar
Revealed) the personification of wounds enables the reader to compare the situation to their own
lives, bring it alive and giving it a deeper meaning. Wounds is a recurring motif throughout the poem
to reinforce and emphasise the principal message of the healing nature of sharing traumatic

Arthur Andersen Case Study
Arthur Andersen Co. was founded in Chicago by Arthur Andersen, a young Northwestern
University professor and his partner, Clarence DeLany in 1913 but, DeLany left the partnership in
1918 so the firm s name was changed to Arthur Andersen and Company. (Encyclopedia of Chicago,
2005) Thus, Andersen began as a pioneer accounting firm who offered customers help with new
federal income taxes and other accounting problems and its first client was the Joseph Schlitz
Brewing Company of Milwaukee. Unfortunately Arthur Andersenpassed away in 1947, but the firm
s leadership was passed to Leonard Spacek.
Nevertheless, Mr. Spacek shaped the firm into a genuine international company and during his 26
year term (1947 1973), the firm s client base rose from 2,300 to 50,000. Still, the company became
increasingly involved in providing consulting services in the 1970s and in 1988, the Arthur
Andersen Co. (AA Co.) was the largest consulting firm in the world. By this time, I had joined the
firm as a Senior Executive Assistant and in 1989 after years of disharmony; the firm was split into
two companies, AA Co. (accounting services) and Andersen Consulting (consulting services).
Although these entities were financially separate, they were governed by Switzerland based Arthur
Andersen SociГ©tГ© Cooperative later named Andersen Worldwide SC, the ruling body of the
worldwide Andersen organization.
Thereafter around 1994, Andersen developed its own consulting business under the leadership of
