Interviewer On The School And My Parents Essay
I think she meant if you wanted to go to that school, you pick that school first or third. I think that is
what she meant, but I don t know; that s all I got. Interviewer: So, like she said it hard maybe picking
the school or actually being at the school? Interviewee: Picking the school. Interviewer: That s
understandable. You said you looked at the directory, what about when you were at the fair, what did
you do there? Interviewee: I picked the information from the school and my parents were there too, so
it was really hard because there were so many schools that I really like. Some of those schools in the
directory were really good too, so it was kind of cool, but it was hard. Interviewer: To narrow down?
Interviewee: Yeah, because there were maybe 100 schools that I had in mind in the book, so I had to
narrow it down to 12. Interviewer: Would you say that you first looked up the schools in the book and
then when you went to the open house you found more or was it more that you looked at the school
and the open house together? Interviewee: Some of the schools didn t have an open house. I did look
at the open house and the book; it wasn t really hard, because some of the schools I really liked and
some I didn t. It was easy finding the schools and everything. Interviewer: Were you able to attend any
open houses in addition to the fair? Interviewee: Yeah. Interviewer: How many would you say that
you were able to go to? Interviewee: Maybe four. Interviewer:

Tale Of Viking Heroes Analysis
It would not be fair for readers to just be presented with these tales and historical facts, without
presenting any sorts of analysis that can better direct the reader and help him better understand the
context at hand. When interpreting the sagas and all the sources that were used to study the Vikings,
one often lacks the ability to situate the context in which they are dealing with, given the fact that he is
not a historian or a researcher. One must agree that this short introduction to the lives and popular
stories of Viking heroes is marked by graphic descriptions of murders that sometimes look that they
could have been avoided. The reader can falsely fall into the reasoning which wants to believe that
Vikings were in fact very violent, even among themselves. It is true, the scenes of revenge, self
defense or murderous plotting could have been avoided with more peaceful terms. But, what is there
to do, if as a Viking or Norseman you are told that upon your death you will have the greatest reward,
as long as you live your life as like a warrior? That is why it is important ... Show more content on

They had left their native Scandinavia with all their goods. They were mostly farmers, and it is
possible that many of them lost their cattle while sailing the North Sea, but survived. This could have
led some farmers to become outlaws and steal from others even if it meant being killed in the end.
This is also not something proper to the Norsemen. When the first European settlers arrived on the
American shores almost 600 years after the Viking era, the possibility that they would starve in an
unknown world was as real as their ambition to create a new world. This was the case with the few
English settlers who resorted to cannibalism during the winter of 1609 1610 in Jamestwon, Virginia.
These settlers were faced with a harsh winter, they were in an unknown land and possibly had lost all

Global Chocolate Shortage Essay
Global chocolate shortages coming, what will need to be done about alternatives and economic
effects?
The situation of global chocolate always causes wide attention since 2007. As could be seen in figure
1 and 2, it seems that the situation of chocolate shortages is a recent problem. The peak of this trend
showed in November 2014. According to Walters (2015, p.4), chocolate shortage is happened all over
the world. It is believed that this situation might get worse by chocolate makers. It was predicted that
the deficit of chocolate could attain more than a million tons in 2020. The shortages of global
chocolate could causes lager effects in many fields such as social, economic and food industrial field
because chocolate is a very popular food or raw material. In this report, some results would be
enumerated and compared by the empirical evidences to discuss what would need to be done for
facing global chocolate shortages. The discussion consisted by factors of reasons, the economic effects
and some alternatives of chocolate.
Firstly, the major reasons of global chocolate shortages are cocoa shortages and over consumption. It
has a close relationship between them that cocoa bean is a basis of chocolate. Climate changes and
pestilence in Africa which is a chief producer, was culprit. It needs about two to five years to get new
cacao tress to produce new cocoa beans. It even needs to take 10 years to reveal traits worth
preserving (Harris 2014). Walters (2015, p.4) also holds

Weight Belts
The weight lifting belts was first introduced in Olympic power lifting. Weight lifting belts has two
main uses in power lifting. The first purpose, it diminish the lower back stress while lifting in an
upright position and also prevent back hypertension during lifting the weight above head. Belts also
help to diminish low back stress by compressing the content of the abdominal cavity.
Belts are used to reduce intra abdominal pressure as it gives pressure in front of the bones of the lower
back. Weight lifting belts also reduce the spinal shrinkage occurs while lifting weights and also avert

Beginners in the field of weight lifting should develop the strength first before doing any heavy
workout other wise it will lead to serious injury.
A sudden start to heavy weight lifting can lead to muscle soreness. Before the workout you should

Ron Ventura Essay
RON VENTURAAT MITCHELL MEMORIAL HOSPITAL 1. What is your assessment of Ron
Ventura s performance over the term of his two year contract with the hospital? Should his contract be
renewed? I think Ron Ventura is excellent at his work and has made contribution to the Cardiovascular
Center and the entire hospital. He is really professional and technically skilled in his field, which is
recognized by most of his coworkers. He is responsible and works hard in the team. He is willing to
challenge himself and take toughest cases. He has seen more patients than any other surgeons. He has
the lowest rate of complication and unplanned returns to operating room in his cases. He generated a
great amount of revenue and reputation for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think the ability to collaborate with other coworkers should be addressed in the contract. This is
related to this hospital s culture and guidance. Moreover, performance evaluation should be added into
contract renewal decision. If the opinions about an employee is tend to be negative, the contract with
this employee might need to be stopped. Some programs and trainings to address teamwork could be
used in Mitchell Memorial Hospital. 3. If you were Prescott, how would you plan to conduct the
contract renewal conversation. What would your goals be? What issues would you raise, and why, and
how would you raise them?
Firstly, I would admit that Ventura is a great surgeon and his technically skills are highly recognized
by all employees in cardiovascular center. Due to his hard and excellent work, the vascular department
had been improved. He had contribution to the entire Mitchell Memorial Hospital. But I think his
issues working with other coworkers become interference to the whole cardiovascular team. The
renewal of the contract with him needs to re considered. I would address the issues that the residents
taught by him leave the program or is lack of operation experience. Some surgeons working with him
could hardly con duct operation under his control and couldn t feel the value being in the team. There
is some boundary issues with nursing staff. OR is not a place for himself to perform a surgery. If he

Example Of Internal Medicine Personal Statement
Personal Statement
I remember entering medical school with the intention of pursuing internal medicine, a specialty that
would fulfill my desire to be a strong advocate for adults as well as associate physicians. I cannot even
begin to describe how overwhelming it is to see patients improve after methodically figuring out how
to nurse them back to health. Internal medicine will allow me to apply my knowledge and the
resources available, to figure out the problematic nature of diseases. The challenging array of diseases
and working with adults is the reason I am fond of internal medicine.
Coming across patients from varying economic, social and cultural backgrounds, and being

Rocking Horse Winner and The Destructors Essays
Rocking Horse Winner and The Destructors
There are many differences and similarities between Graham Greene s The Destructors and D.H.
Lawrence s Rocking Horse Winner. One general difference is that in The Destructors the setting is in
Great Britain, after the bombing had happened during World War 1, when the buildings were
destroyed. The setting of Rocking Horse Winner is a suburban community located on the outskirts of
Baltimore, Maryland. This one distinct difference affects the entire background of each story. The
setting of The Destructors brings mood and feeling into the story were ass the setting of Rocking

The children in the story do not seem to be affected by this very much, since they have all pretty much
lived there entire lives like this, except T who comes from an upper class family but is forced into
poverty by the war. To him and the other boys in the story money seems to be of no great significance.
The awkward thing about the family in Rocking Horse Winner is that they all maintain an upper class
status even though they are short on money. This is hard on the family especially the mother who can
feel no love because of the stress that has been forced upon her heart. The family still maintains there
lifestyle as members of the upper class even though the line of money continues to get shorter and
shorter.
Money in each story is scarce, but how the characters in each story cope with this shortage is very
different. In Graham Greene s The Destructors the children know that they are not part of the upper
class but it has minimal affect to there ego or there self esteem. The need for money is not there. In
D.H. Lawrence s Rocking Horse Winner the affect is completely opposite. The family in Rocking
Horse Winner is part of the upper class but the money is not there to uphold this status for much
longer. This is known by the children but there is little or nothing they can do to help. The children

Observation In High School
Looking out the window, anyone could see from the dark, shady sky, it was going to rain. It was the
end of freshman year, end of spring, early summer, and everyone had formed their study groups to
study for the Algebra final the following week. I, however, wasn t in a group and kept to myself, in my
corner by the window. I had no interest in studying and instead was captivated by the dim, warms, of
the outside world. As a freshman in highschool, I hated school and showed little interest in it. Staring
out the window, I had zoned out, then I was sitting outside under a large tree. The leaves rustling
above me, shaking side to side in a smooth swing. It s pretty bark, composed of multiple layers, dug
into my back. Roots grabbed the earth, its large knots exposed. The old bark felt rough, with its unique
texture, furrowed and scaly. Moss had crawled its way up the majestic trunk, very thin tangles of
green mass that swallowed the roots, jutting from the earth. Just sitting there, I could smell the sweet
fresh air, rain brought; It s safe aroma. It was crisp and clean, mixing ... Show more content on

of the quickly approaching rain. The dark clouds could not hold in the heavy water anymore and,
softly the rain began to fall upon the tree in soft pattering drops, falling like rivulets among the leaves.
The leaves let the water fall even further until it reach my skin, slowly it rolled to the already wet
ground. More of the warm shower fell on me, soft to the touch, almost like velvet flower petals. The
petals had soon soaked me, clothes clung to my skin, and hair stuck to my face. The petals with the
smooth, light texture, had me floating away like the running stream along the sidewalks, flowing
quietly to where ever they desired. I was disappearing along with the water, fleeing like flower

Zenobia In Nathaniel Hawthorne s Blithedale Romance
The hardest thing to do is to be true to yourself especially when everybody is watching . In Nathaniel
Hawthorne 1854 novel Blithedale Romance supposed to be utopian society but falls short when
Coverdale and Hollingsworth have their own view of what Blithedale is supposed to look like. For
example Coverdale uses and wants Blithedale for his poetry and Hollingsworth wants to use
Blithedale to reform criminals. Both of these men aren t there for a utopian community (where it can
be a better living space for them) but they re rather focus on their own objectives. In addition, there is

Priscilla is a young, beautiful teenage girl who is very naive. Introducing her first night at Blithedale
she trustingly betook herself into the shadow of Zenobia s protection (58) and follows Zenobia
continuously, because she is an older women with much to learn from. At first Zenobia is reluctant to
show any emotion towards Priscilla because she sees Priscilla as being young minded and compared
to her life she sees herself as a matured and aged women. I think Zenobia is reluctant because she don
t want nobody figuring out who she is and having Priscilla look over her put pressure on her to only
put more of an act on. But Zenobia do acknowledges Priscilla has lots to learn by saying Every day I
shall give you a lecture...on morals, manners, and properties of social life (56). Zenobia recognizes
that she is the only person to show her womanly things as people from Blithedale did see her as a
feminist for women s rights.. Although Priscilla s can be honest and innocent of all love she is faced
with Zenobia s feelings representing another element of deceitfulness in her character. In reality
Zenobia reveals she is jealous of Priscilla in many ways for her beauty, how they must compete for
Hollingsworth s love and affection, and the attention she gets Zenobia wants that. Zenobia compares
herself to Priscilla stating the obvious who can offer more to Hollingsworth and who has more to give
to Blithedale. Zenobia feels she shouldn t have to compete with a teenage girl to get what she want so
she lowers Priscilla into her mind of thinking, tricking her, and playing her and most importantly
trying to keep her away from Hollingsworth. Furthermore, Zenobia is upset at Hollingsworth because
he describes Priscilla as being this lovely women She is the most admirable handiwork of God, in her
true place and character. Her place is at a man s side (86). Concluding the fact hearing those words

Factors And Effects Of Invasive Species
Introduction Invasive species have a serious effect on native wildlife, representing the second major
threat to biodiversity after the destruction of habitat (IUCN/SSC Invasive Species Specialist Group
(ISSG)). The introduction of alien species is mainly a consequence of past human actions, especially
after the 1950s when international trade increased. Besides the spread due to international trade,
invasive species were often introduced for aquaculture and sports purpose (Grosholz 1996; Gozlan et
al. 2010).
Non native species often outperforms indigenous species in their habitat directly by competitive
exclusion, niche displacement, high reproductive rate, predation, fewer natural enemies in the new
environment, long life span and their good dispersal (Manchester and Bullock, 2000; Cuda et al, 2015;
San Sebastian et al, 2015; GB non native species secretariat, 2017). Furthermore, invasive species are
more skilled predators and have a wide range of plasticity regarding food consumption and shelter
preferences (Gherardi and Acquistapac 2007; Olsson et al. 2009). Frequently, introduced species are
vectors of pathogens and parasites and in the past have caused a rapid decline of native population due
to their susceptibility to new disease (GB non native species secretariat). Apart from the effect on
biodiversity, non native species caused difficulties in countries budget, where in the UK direct annual
costs of invasive species are nearly £1.7 billion (Hulm, 2009; GB

Polarized Parties Are Good For America Essay
In his essay Polarized Parties Are Good for America , Matthew Yglesias asserts that the two party
system is ideal for America. He begins by stating that polarization is bad for elites, as it leaves little to
no room for self styled players . He then suggests that the two party system is beneficial for voters,
insisting that having clearly labeled candidates creates a menu that allows the masses to know what
they re voting for from the start. He concludes by stating that the problem isn t in partisanship, but
with the small number of parties. In this essay I will prove that the two party system is bad for
America. In the two party system, candidates seem to get pigeonholed into fitting a template; this
template only works to stifle new, groundbreaking ideas. During the presidential campaign in 2007,
there was a phrase that was used quite often: Politics as usual. This aptly describes an America where,
politically, there isn t a great deal of new ideas. Each new candidate will pander to their respective
parties, offering essentially the same ideas as the candidate before them.
By reducing candidates to labels, they are robbed of any true identity. If political candidates were not
weighed down by partisan templates, it would enable them to earn votes based on their ideals and
goals, not simply by their mascot. Each side has valid ideas; as long as they re divided, many of those
ideas will fall on ears deafened from bias. Yglesias suggests that the aforementioned

Argument Against Circuit Training
WHAT IS CIRCUIT TRAINING?
Circuit training is a method in which a person will perform several different lifts in rapid succession,
generally performed on numerous machines or simply with body weight exercises such as push ups
and pull ups. This form of training is ideal for developing muscular endurance, improving
cardiovascular health, and since it is a form of high intensity training, it has incredible implications on
fat loss as well. Just about anyone can benefit from circuit training, but as always, I suggest consulting
with your medical professional prior to beginning any high intensity training regimen. With that being

Most resistance bands are crafted out of surgical grade tubing, which is highly elastic and very strong,
but in the off chance that one happens to snap, being able to replace it free of charge is awesome.
EFFICIENCY Circuit trainers understand the necessity of being able to switch from one exercise to
another quickly hence why most gyms with circuit rooms have everything set up in a circle for quick
transitions. Look for resistance bands with carabiners or some sort of quick disconnect from
attachments such as handles, door anchors, or ankle cuffs. This will allow the addition or subtraction
of more and/or heavier bands depending on the exercises
ATTACHMENTS As mentioned in Efficiency , attachments are crucial. bands a great, but a single

several sized bands at once. Also, detachable cuffs make leg and core exercises very comfortable and
natural. Lastly, a simple door anchor can open up vast arrays of possible new

Marie Curie During World War 1
Encounter Marie Curie fits the theme perfectly in another way, encounter. She had a troublesome time
getting the education she needed, and even when she presented a reasonable hypothesis, it was all but

which was a gathering of some of the greatest minds at the time. One of the most important things
Curie did was help during World War One by inventing and distributing portable x ray machines to
help aid soldiers.
Opposition in Education In her early childhood, Marie Curie was a fantastic student, getting
wonderful grades in her classes. The problem came after she had finished secondary school; the
University of Warsaw was men only. This meant that Curie could not continue her education at the
normal university. Curie also applied to other schools, which turned her down either because she was

the answer was the Warsaw floating universities . These were underground, informal, and illegal

The Army of the Potomac was the largest Union Army in the Civil War, and it fought in many
important battles ( Army Of The Potomac ). The Confederate cavalry was said to have given three
options when being faced run, surrender, or die. The Federal cavalry knew they had to improve their
unequipped and unorganized fighting force if they were ever going to get a chance to claim victory.
Hooker s ultimate goal was to crush Robert E. Lee in battle, so he took the cavalry, reformed it, and
made it a new force of over 2,000 men, which acted as a single body ( The Battle of Kelly s Ford
Summary Facts ). This was the largest cavalry force to be put together by a lone commander up to that
point. Control of this force was given to Averell. With this new army, they would have a chance to
change the course of the war in their favor. After the renovation, Hooker wanted a place to test his new
brigade and turn the tables on the Confederates, so he chose Fitzhugh Lee s fort at Kelly s Ford on the
Rappahannock River. He figured he could show the Confederates how good the Unions can be if they
are organized. Now that the battle was set in place, the real course changing fight could

Julia Takers Prison
Julia a twelve year old girl finds an ad in the paper about a teacher seeking a pupil. The ad specifically
states that the pupil must have the desire to save the world. The twelve year old girl goes to the
building and finds a gorilla in room 105 behind a glass. She is initially frightened and leaves but she
then returns to communicate with the gorilla telepathically. The gorilla Ishmael claims to be the
Midwife who brings the children to the light. The two communicate ideas about Mother Culture
Tribes, Education and technology and Julia is essentially enlightened. Julia is asked to spread her

He uses Tribes to convey the idea that before western civilization the human race lived and functioned
as tribes. In tribes laws and physical money were not present. Instead tribes used favor and grew food
for the entire community. As time progressed tourist invaded tribes and locked the food. With food
being locked away tourist were able to control tribes and create a system in which work was used to
earn food. A system that is still heavily in place today. This system is referred to as the Taker s Prison.
Contrary to Takers who have greatly influenced modern day society. Ishmael shines light on Leavers .
Leavers are people who lived with a purpose greater than the lust of exterior objects. They understood
the importance of planting and cultivating seeds for a large fruitful harvest that fed all of their people.
Leavers simply approach agriculture differently than takers. Leavers however were forced to become
takers by having specified land reserved for them

More Than A Busker Analysis
Writer: Jessica Morris
Category: Blog
Title: More Than a Busker: David Knight
Body:
It is not uncommon to come across buskers in the Melbourne CBD. The city is rich in music makers
and music lovers, and you will find up and coming artists, bagpiping locals, and people in bunny
costumes playing electric guitar performing at all hours.
Because of this, when I was walking through Melbourne Central the other day with a group of friends,
I was fairly nonchalant to the young musician sitting near the food court. He had a single mic set up
with a couple of speakers, an acoustic guitar in hand and one lying behind him. My friends and I
stopped to listen. And not just listen, like you do politely for buskers who catch your eye and make
you awkwardly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I saw the man nod politely at the scattered applause of onlookers, before seating himself on one of his
own speakers and commanding the food court, which had now become his stage. And I observed him
become lost in another world full of melodies and beats we could not hear.
I am normally struck by the meaning of a song, the lyrics and how they are delivered. Yet when I met
David Knight, a soloist who focuses entirely on his skills playing acoustic guitar, I was able to learn
why musicians are so drawn to the instrumental aspect of their work.
It was in the hopeful progression of chords, ushering me back to my childhood in Welcome Home,
and the intricate way his fingers danced across the frets in With the Wind. As he covered some of his
favourite tunes, he placed his own spin on them, having us believe he could have written them through
the minute rise and fall of every chord.
I normally pass by buskers, but the music of David Knight drew me in like a story begging you to
reach the last page. It s hard for musician s to make it in this industry, and it is easy to pass by the ones
still doing the hard yards, where the local coffee shop is their arena. David Knight made me pause and
see this for what it truly could be: stunning, moving and well crafted

Essay On Age Related Macular Degeneration
The human eye is a remarkable feature that receives light, allowing a viewed object to be transmitted
as messages to the brain so that we understand what we see. It can detect something as small as a
candle flame from up to 15 miles away (under optimum conditions) as well as focus on fine details. A
pity, then, when this window to the soul is allowed to degenerate.
Not all eye diseases are caused by negligence but a large percentage is. Strain, an unbalanced diet, a
poor lifestyle, lack of awareness and bad habits can contribute to diminishing the wonders our eyes
offer.

It s usually resolved through surgery which can restore a large percentage of vision unlike with
glaucoma.
AMD: Age related macular degeneration is primarily caused by old age. Where glaucoma affects the
peripheral vision, AMD targets the central vision. As such, blindness is rarely caused although vision
impairment is naturally present and may progress without treatment.
Treatment typically involves laser surgery, implanting a telescopic lens and increasing vitamin intake.
AMD presents itself in one of two forms dry and wet. Dry AMD sees the macula (an area near the
retina) thinning to affect central vision. It s the more common form and progresses slowly. In wet
AMD, blood vessels behind the retina begin to grow under the macula to lead to leakage of blood and
fluid as well as scarring which further diminishes central vision.
Diabetic retinopathy: A common complication in diabetic patients, diabetic retinopathy occurs due to
damage to the retinal blood vessels. Proper diabetes management through control of blood sugar,
blood pressure and other necessary symptoms can see the condition brought to a halt and even
reversed to an extent.

Microbial life can be found everywhere like oceans, soil and buried deeply under the earth or even
inside our body. This micro organism are very tiny and can barely see with our naked eye. Microbes
can have a negative and positive impacts in the society. First example is Bacteria a tiny and millions
creatures alive and can be found anywhere and could be dangerous if spread badly and got infected.
Sometimes we are scared or paranoid about bacteria or germ because it can give us illness or can spoil
our food. Other example after eating a contaminated food we get sick is just because we had eaten a
little bit of bacteria but if not cure this bacteria can multiply a million times inside our body because
our body is warm and moist that bacteria perfect place to multiply. But not all bacteria are harmful in
(Stanford University School of Medicine) some bacteria are used to make medicine, a specially

they live and reproduce just like any other bacteria and they help by producing human protein that use

Armstrong Vs Descartes Essay
Armstrong makes it clear in his paper, that the mind can best be explained by modern science. He
states, at present the drift of scientific thought is clearly set towards the physico chemical hypothesis.
And we have nothing better to go on than the present (Armstrong 280). This states that he strongly
believes that the mind is unified as a functional system and the facts of science can best show what the
mind really is. He then goes on to inform us, it is only as a result of scientific investigation that we
ever seem to reach an intellectual consensus about controversial matters (Armstrong 280). He holds
the idea that only through science and solid theory, will the people all be able to come to an agreement
on something that can be disputed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One major difference between their thoughts on the mind would be that Descartes believes that the
mind is a non physical cause while Armstrong believes that it is a physical cause. This difference may
seem small when you compare it to the two philosophers similarities, but it can cause much debate.
Descartes states in his writing of Meditation I, I will obstinately concentrate on this meditation and
will thus ensure by mental resolution that, if I do not really have the ability to know the truth, I will at
least withhold assent from what is false and from what a deceiver may try to put over on me
(Descartes 159). Descartes cannot be certain that we are not dreaming nor all victims of an all
powerful deceiver. These two philosophers do not agree on whether or not the mind is a physical
cause, but they do both that other minds are knowable in an indirect manner. I understand the
argument of both philosophers, but I agree more with the understanding that our mind is a physical
cause. I am more of a scientific and facts person so the idea that we are being deceived by someone
and we do not realize it really does not make sense to me. We do understand the fact that we do not
know everything and I firmly believe that we never will. Theory is called theory for a reason and not
fact because it has not been proven. We can study and learn new things all we want, but we have to
understand that as we learn new things, we will only uncover more

The Aeneid Betrayal
A major theme throughout book 4 of The Aeneid is the idea of love. This theme not only deals with
love, but the betrayal of love. Two sisters, Dido and Anna, both feel betrayed respectively. Dido feels
betrayed by the man she loves, Aeneas, when he leaves her for Italy and also Anna by the untimely
death of her sister. While these sisters feel this betrayal by a person they loved, Anna is the more
justified in her feeling of betrayal because of the love she had for her sister and had right reasoning for
her betrayal. The bond that these two sisters had is one reason for Anna s justification. The bond of
siblings is a strong one. Like Paris was to Oenone, Dido was Anna s playmate on the hill (Tennyson

While Dido was betrayed by the man she loved, she believed that they were married. Dido and Aeneas
did engage in the marital act while stuck in a cave one night, but they never actually married. One of
Dido s main reasons for feeling betrayed was because she saw Aeneas leaving as her husband
divorcing her when she asks Aeneas Nec te noster amor ne te data dextera quondam?... Cui me
moribundam deseris hospes , meaning, Will my love not hold you, nor the right hand I once gave
you?... My guest, since that s all that is left of me from the name husband (Aeneid 307 08, 323). While
Dido did love Aeneas, she does not have the right justification for feeling betrayed that her husband is
leaving her, because they were never married. Anna had right reasoning for her betrayal because she
had been doing something Dido wanted her to do, build a funeral pyre. Dido, however, did not tell
Anna that she would never see her sister again and also that she was assisting in her own sister s
suicide when Anna says Hoc illud, germania, fuit? Me fraude petebas? Hoc rogus iste mihi, hoc ignes

adrenaline rush and about 11 million people in the United States hunt the famous whitetail deer
(Bestul). However, fewer people are able to hunt because glyphosate has caused the deer population to
severely decline. The issue arose in 1996 when Monsanto released Roundup Ready crop varieties,
which can withstand the application of Roundup herbicide and pesticide (Waldman 42). Monsanto

An article written by Peter Waldman reveals that traces of glyphosate have been detected in cookies,
crackers, chips, breakfast cereals, and honey, and in human urine and breast milk (42). This highlights
the evidence that no matter where you live, you are ingesting glyphosate. At the same time, this quote
is informing people that there are no regulations on glyphosate remnants in food. Also, in Montana a
wildlife rehabilitator, Judy Hoy, found that glyphosate precipitated mineral deficiencies and thyroid
hormone disruption in whitetail deer, leading to the population decline over the past several years
(Whittington). With this evident one can see that production agriculture is harming our native wildlife.
Meanwhile, Argentina agriculturists are experiencing the obstacle of glyphosate tolerant weeds,
known as superweeds, as well as volunteer genetically engineered crops that pop up and are resistant
to glyphosate. These issues have caused farmers to apply twice as much herbicide on the crops to
remove the contagions (Gordon 154). This crisis shows that glyphosate is not always a surefire way to
remove weeds and farmers have to use more chemical to get the desired effect. Thus, the extra
chemical further pollutes nearby water and the soil causing more damage to the environment.
Likewise, the United Kingdom is encountering identical problems, on top of other serious troubles. An

Their experiment was a success, but further researches needs to be conducted to make sure the
vaccines are easier to be distributed to other countries around the world. The potato is not an ideal
vehicle for vaccines, since it is not a common food in many developing countries and may lose its
effectiveness when cooked (Williams, 2002).
Field Trials Researchers utilizing the transgenic plants to produce vaccine for us humans are the main
purpose of molecular farming. Numerous transgenic plant vaccines are being created and field tested
each and every day. Several test of the hepatitis B vaccine in the potato were hampered by the low
levels of antigen produced in the plant, and by the safety requirement that only individuals previously
immunized with injected vaccine should be exposed to the plant vaccine (Cummins, 2011). In this
case, the oral vaccine preparations will induce immune tolerance , thereby making the individual
susceptible to the hepatitis B virus (Cummins, 2011). When experimenting with a transgenic potato,
the process started out as inserting with genes for cholera, E.coli antigens and rotavirus enterotoxin.
Adult mice were found to produce antibodies to the toxins after feeding on the transgenic potatoes
(Cummins, 2011). Neonate mice passively immunized by suckling from mice fed transgenic potatoes

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine disorder that affects 4% to 12% of

diagnostic criteria.2 According to the criteria implemented by the European Society for Human

15% to 20%.2 As stated in The National Institute of Health Office of Disease Prevention Report,

ETIOLOGY AND PATHOPHYSIOLOGY
PCOS is an oligogenic disorder that has a heritable factor of approximately 70%.3 Both genetic and
environmental factors contribute to the phenotype of the disease.4 The pathophysiology of PCOS
consists of defects in the hypothalamic pituitary axis, secretion of insulin and the function of the
ovary.3 Although, the cause of PCOS is an on going topic of research, it has been linked to insulin
resistance and elevated androgen levels that contribute to hormonal imbalance.4 It is estimated that
60% 80% of women with PCOS, show insulin resistance and this percentage increases to 95% of
women who are obese.8 Insulin resistance is a cause as well as an exacerbating factor for the
development of PCOS.3 Insulin resistance contributes to metabolic disturbances, obesity and type 2
diabetes, as well as increased androgens, cardiovascular risks and anovulation.1
Insulin aids in regulation of ovarian function and overproduction of insulin causes the ovaries to
produce high amounts of androgens.9 High levels of gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH)

The Presentation of Nature in Robert Frost s Poetry Essay
The Presentation of Nature in Robert Frost s Poetry
Many of Robert Frost s poems contain the vital ingredient of nature . Frost uses nature as a metaphor,
primarily, in his poems to express the intentions of his poems. He uses nature as a background
metaphor in which he usually begins a poem with an observation of something in nature and then
moves towards a connection to some human situation. He uses rural landscapes, homely farmers and
the natural world to illustrate this human psychological struggle with everyday situations that we seem
to experience.
Frost uses blank verse in The Wood Pile by using an iambic pentameter. This is very typical of Frost in
his nature poetry. We get this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The speaker does not know which road to take; neither of the roads is less travelled by. He has to
make a decision and at the end of the day, the nature of the decision is that there is no Right path, just
a chosen path and the other path as show in The Road Not Taken .
The Wood Pile is appealing, but the point Frost is trying to make could be perhaps speaking of human
effort and what it comes to or hinting at despair. But the last two lines are warming and carves itself
into the poem permanently, perhaps ending the poem with a sense of hope, in that the wood decays,
generating heat, which makes it have some uses, even though it has been abandoned and left to rot, yet
it is a hopeless task all the same. In The Wood Pile , there was hard snow , which held the speaker
back from going any further, but the speaker persists on, but to only get lost. This leads the speaker to
the woodpile to a revelation of human effort, despair and decay, here is an example where Frost uses
nature as a barrier in his poems, but in a worthwhile way.
Another example of this is in the poem, Mending Wall . We have two men meeting only in terms of
civility and neighbourliness to build a barrier between them. They do so out of habit and tradition. Yet

Blended Worship By Robert Webber
Blended Worship Defined Most church members have a misperception of what blended worship truly
is. Because of the worship wars of the past two decades, the typical church member thinks blended
worship is a service that uses both contemporary and traditional worship music. While this may be one
aspect of blended worship, it fails to capture its full meaning. Robert Webber states that the
distinguishing features of blended worship can be arranged under three headings content, structure,
and style. 1 According to Webber, the content of blended worship addresses three areas; the language
of mystery, the language of story, and the language of symbol.2 The language of mystery
acknowledges the unknowable nature of God. The language of story refers to the metanarrative of the
Bible; God s redemptive plan for fallen man. The language of symbol describes how we experience
the worship of the Holy Spirit. Webber asserts that worship
acknowledges the transcendence, the great glory and incomprehensible nature of God the Father. It
tells the story from beginning to end of how God created, how the world fell away from him, how he
became involved in the history of the world in Israel and in his incarnation in Jesus to rescue the world
through his death, resurrection, and coming in glory to reign as lord over all creation. And it unleashes
the power and presence of the Holy Spirit in the assembled people, in ministry, in Word and
Sacrament, and it connects God and

Descriptive Essay On A Tridaday Morning
Wednesday Morning
It is a typical Wednesday morning, the middle of the week, and I m running late to school. It s 7:43
and most students are making a mad dash to beat the morning bell, others linger around the green
courtyard, catching up with friends, dreading going to class. I make my way through the maze of
students, and I catch my best friend, Lauren, in the stairwell at the top of A building, both on our way
to the history class we have together. We do not say a word, just share a look that says we want to go
home and we need more coffee, before we head into class.
Our class is always in chaos in the mornings. The boys compare what they have for breakfast today
and discuss last night s baseball game play by play, while the girls get together and share a bit of
gossip they heard last night and begin to make plans for the weekend. Today was no exception. Just as
the tardy bell rings, I sit in my seat at the corner of the room and notice that Kaylin, who sits behind
me, is crying. Her face is red and blotchy and she is staring at her phone. I choose to act like I do not
notice, because it must have been a rough morning and I would not want anyone bothering me if I
were in her position. Then Abbie, who sits in the desk beside Kaylin, comes in a few minutes late, also
crying. Lauren and I exchange confused glances, and I suddenly realize our teacher, Mrs. Hendrix, isn

Comparing The ICTY And The International Criminal Tribunal...
At the end of the Cold War, a more widespread interest in post conflict reconstruction was becoming
more prevalent. The main components of this interest during the post reconciliation period were
accountability and reconciliation. To facilitate this in two different post conflict environments, two
respective tribunals were established. These tribunals were known as the ICTY (The International
Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, est.1993) and ICTR (International Criminal Tribunal for
Rwanda, est.1994) . The ICTY was formed to address the conflict in former Yugoslavia. The situation
started when two of the six republics of Yugoslavia, Slovenia and Croatia, declared their independence
after the fall of the Berlin Wall. This sparked a lengthy and lethal conflict within the territory. The
atrocities that allegedly had been committed included but were not limited to, genocide, rape, and
enslavement. Many of the victims were civilians. Because of this the ICTY was created during the war
as an international criminal court that applied humanitarian law. It s purpose was to gather
information, create an account of events, and prosecute those responsible for committing crimes .
The ICTY is considered the first international court. Since it was the first of it s kind, the court was not
without controversy. From the beginning, the method of establishing the tribunal was up for debate.
The ICTY did not have the legal authority to establish itself. Some states wanted a treaty to

Impact of Financial Crisis on Gulf Area Essay

adversely affected as they were not directly hit by the crisis. This crisis started in the United States
after the housing bubble busted. Although the bursting of the housing bubble was the main cause of
the crisis, there were a series of events that preceded it. One event that indirectly contributed to this

This foreclosure negatively affected both the financial institutions as well as individual borrowers. For
the borrowers, their wealth was drained and their purchasing power eroded (Martin, 2009). For the
financial institutions, their strength as banking institutions was greatly affected. Their liquidity had
greatly reduced and most of the banks were struggling to carry out their daily monetary activities. The
total losses that were recorded during this crisis were estimated to be trillions of dollars globally. The
Federal Reserve as well contributed to this crisis through some of the policies that it instituted.
Between the year 2003 and 2004, this institution lowered the rate of the federal funds from the initial
6.5 per cent to just 1.0 per cent (Jane, 2011). This move was aimed at addressing the effects that were
associated with the terrorist attacks that took place in September of 2001. These measures were also
meant to soften the negative effects that were occasioned by the collapsed dot com bubble. At this
time also, there was a perceived risk that the United States could suffer from deflation. These
measures were therefore aimed to combat this risk of deflation. These measures increased credit
uptake but the expected results were not realized. To address the said problems, it was expected that
the money borrowed would be invested in business.

Therapeutic Benefits Of Anise And Alpapinene
Anise has become a popular remedy in North America for hundreds of years as a carminative, a herb
that relieves gas pains and bloating. Other traditional uses include colic, rheumatism, and the familiar
licorice flavored cough drops. The therapeutic power of phytochemicals of licorice, including creosol
and alpapinene, is commonly used in herbal remedies to break up congestion and ease coughing.
Anise is an expectorant and antiseptic for mucous membranes as well. This means that licorice does
double duty: it will kill bacteria while clearing the lungs of congestion. Anise and fennel close ties
both cases Anethol which have estrogenic properties. Both of these herbs have a legendary reputation
as a tonic for nursing women and wants to increase

The Worst Thing For A Person With Experience During Their...
The worst thing for a person to experience during their grieving process, is interaction with a person
who lacks empathy for their situation. According to Cummins, a grieving individual expects people
close to them to have the ability to offer comfort and understanding during a difficult time, such as the
death of a loved one. It is often not discovered until tragedy strikes that those who are considered
close to the bereaved, are not able to offer the comfort they are seeking. Individuals who show
avoidance, and even hostility towards a person grieving can be known to lack empathy. Experiencing
this type of interaction with someone considered a close friend can cause resentment in the
relationship, and the grieving individual is often ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Grainger explains that it is very important to take care of our basic needs during the grieving process,
and during this time it is perfectly acceptable, even necessary, to put our needs above the needs of
others (Grainger, 1990). Although we do not think of human suffering as beneficial, especially while
in the midst of it, research concludes otherwise. Hurst suggests that individuals can learn important
life lessons as a result of their suffering. The first benefit we can learn when suffering from loss is that
life is precious. Although we may wish we would have said things or did things in the past prior to
losing a loved one, knowing the feeling of regret can push us to do better, and to be better. We can take
the suffering and make something positive out of it, and learn from our mistakes (Hurst, 2015).
Knowing that life is precious, experiencing grief makes us realize that we need to always let people
know how we feel, and never let anything go unsaid. Hurst states, Whether you are angry at the person
that you love, have unresolved issues, need their forgiveness or forget to tell them exactly how much
you love them make sure you say it today. You never know when you may lose the opportunity to do
so (Hurst, 2015). We tend to get caught up in life, and forget to connect with those who are the most
important to us. We even need to mend relationships that have been damaged, often over things that
are not as important as the friendship

Summary Of Barriers To Seeing By Freeman Patterson
In Freeman Patterson s Barriers to Seeing, Patterson mentions a quote from Susan Sontag about
cameras and experiences. Sontag writes, A way of certifying experience, taking photographs is also a
way of refusing it by limiting the experience to a search for the photogenic, by converting into an
image, a souvenir (Paragraph 12). Essentially, Sontag is elaborating how people are distracted from
their surroundings and experiences to find a photogenic picture or to record what they think to be an
experience. While the objective of photography is usually to capture an experience or feeling, many
are instead obsessed with finding good lighting, searching for a good background, and are focused on
taking the best picture to post on social media. In many cases this is very true, and I myself can see it
in people s photos as well as my own. In Freeman Patterson s Barriers to Seeing, he quotes Susan
Sontag s statement that one s camera can be a barrier to seeing and experiencing a moment. Through
other s picture taking as well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the picture itself may be very nice to look at, and it may be sharp and have nice colors and
lighting, it typically lacks depth, emotion, and feeling. Many of us forget to look for that when taking
pictures. Especially in a world where social media is a habit and cameras are in our pockets, we take
pictures for others to see, and we take photos for proof proof that we were somewhere, proof that we
did something. Due to that, we forget about what we are actually doing. We forget about the
experiences we should be taking pictures of, and we lose the feelings that we should capture. With our
cameras in hand, our objectives are changed. Rather than having the intent to have enjoyable
experiences, then taking pictures of it, we have the intent to take pictures, with the experience being a

Accounting Systems And The Financial Management
1. Companies create and maintain accounting systems because the accounting systems is an important
role in the financial management. They bring a lot of benefits in the business management for
accessing the financial statements, reporting business transactions, accounting pay and fee, and
minimizing the problems with tax authorities.
2. In the Balance Sheet, the assets, liabilities, and stockholders equity which are reported by
companies at a specific date. They also are related in the basic accounting equation which is: Assets =
Liabilities + Stockholders Equity. Assets are the resources that will provide future economic benefits
for the companies. Assets are divided into four categories which are current assets, long term assets,
property, plant and equipment, and intangible assets. The first one is current assets are assets that a
company expects to convert to cash or use up within one year.(49) It includes cash, receivables such as
account receivable (less allowance for doubtful accounts) and interest receivable, inventories
(inventory and supplies), prepaid expenses (insurance or rent). The companies list current assets in the
order in which they expect to convert them into cash (50). The long term assets which are generally
investments in stocks and bonds of other corporations that are held for more than one year, land or
buildings that a company is not currently using in its operating activities, and long term notes
receivables (50). Property, plant and equipment

The Use of Symbolism in Margaret Laurence s Stone Angel...
The Use of Symbolism in Margaret Laurence s Stone Angel
The statue of the stone angel is symbolic of the Currie family pride, Hagar s inability to relate and
share her emotions, and the blindness and ignorance that comes from constantly refusing to see things
from another point of view other than your own.
The Stone angel is symbolic of the Currie family pride because it does not seem to serve it s purpose,
which is to honour Hagar s mother who had died giving birth to her. Hagar describes Mrs. Currie to be
a meek woman and a feeble ghost , whereas she describes herself to be stubborn and practical . The
statue was bought in Italy and brought to the Manawaka cemetery at a terrible expense . . . in pride to
mark her bones ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When applies for a job to get away from Mananawka and her husband, she lies to her boss as to her
real relationship with Bram.
Hagar s pride prevents her from expressing her emotions or relating to other people, and as a result she
turns out to be just as hard and unyeilding as the stone angel itself. She never reveals her real feelings
at the risk of being thought of as soft and as a result she misses out on a lot of potentially great
relationships. At a very young age, her pride prevents her from comforting her dying brother: But all i
could think of was that meek woman I d never seen, the woman Dan was said to resemble so mcuh
and when from whom he d inherited a fraily I could not help byt detest, however mush a part of me
wanted to sympathize. To play at being her it was beyond me.
(p. 25)
When Bram s horse died, she had a hard time trying to find something soothing to say or do because
she always had a stone wall built up between them.
Seeing Bram s hunched shoulders, and the look on his face, all at once I walked over to him without
pausing to ponder whether I should or not, or what to say. . . Then, akwardly, I m sorry about it Bram.
I know you were fond of him
(p. 87).
Hagar comes to pride herself on her self restraint and aloofness. Margaret Laurence establishes

Theme Of Ethics In To Kill A Mockingbird
Morality and ethics are two words that represent having a guilt free conscience and doing something
that you know is right; even if it means hurting and affecting relationships or another person s
personal life. These days we are constantly being exploited to things such as murder, theft,
harassment, and rape. These are all representations of dishonorable actions that occur for the sake of
not having enough, or being wistful or just vengeful. This is clearly shown throughout To Kill A
Mockingbird by Harper Lee. To Kill A Mockingbird is a highly regarded piece of literature known for
its exploration of the immoral actions that, as humans, we commit. This book uses metaphors, similes,
and innocent minds to convey morality and ethics. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Atticus, you must be wrong... How s that? Well, most folks seem to think they re right and you re
wrong... They re certainly entitled to think that, and they re entitled to full respect for their opinions,
said Atticus, but before I can live with other folks I ve got to live with myself. The one thing that
doesn t abide by majority rule is a person s conscience. Amplification is used and acts in enlarging and
adding detail to the quote to increase its importance. This quote has exemplified to the audience the
importance of putting your own opinions before others and making sure that your own conscience is
always guilt free.
This conversation is quite important in that Scout is really questioning whether or not Atticus is wrong
in defending Tom Robinson. Based on what others think, Atticus is wrong. But even in their own
thoughts, Atticus states that they are entitled to full respect for their opinions. Democracy may
determine how a group will act, but it can t control what a person thinks: the jury can vote to find Tom
guilty, but it can t make everyone in Maycomb believe that he is.

abuse, although; it is evidential he did not rape nor abuse her when Tom gives his side of the story.

Gender Roles And Social Norms
The media is currently largely responsible in creating and reminding people of the existence of gender
roles and social norms, which consequently influences children. Aside from media, parents are the
most responsible in the upbringing of their child. That being said, parents can choose to control what
they teach their child and steer them away from the societal norms of certain gender roles, but they
don t have control over the media s content. Sometimes, parents can t help if they give their daughter a
Barbie doll and their son a Batman action figure, because they don t realize it and they themselves
were raised to understand that girls are supposed to like this and do that and boys are supposed to like
that and do this. It s all a chain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When it comes to advertisements promoting certain toys and products to children, companies are not
afraid to advertise gender targeted products, because they know children are vulnerable. A 2017 study
report titled Gendered Advertising to Children: An Analysis of Differences in Male and Female
Targeted Television Commercials written by Meredith Ford mentioned that, When children realize that
the toys they see advertised are only meant for one gender, they latch on to that group of children and
do not socialize with the other gender. This sets a detrimental precedent for child development and
socialization skills. When children are exposed to media at a young age, their brains first start to
develop and they learn to adapt to their environment. As soon as the child is fully developed, however,
there is no way of causing them to forget what they learned or were surrounded with whether it was
something good or bad. Additionally, and interestingly, children are capable without even realizing
that they are pushing themselves away from the other gender because they were vulnerable to learn
from the media that their gender is only supposed to like what they are advertising and not the other
genders products. Sure they may come to the realization that some of the

Romania adaption of a French Accounting System was based on a close relationship based on similar
economic and social environments. During this time, the French Accounting System was limited and
based solely on converting from a cash basis of accounting to an accrual basis. By 1996, Romania s
rapid economic improvements had surpassed that of the simplicity presented in its current French
accounting system and began to transform. Anglo Saxon Accounting Approach Beginning in 1996,
Romania joined the Accounting Systems Development Program. The program created by the British
government, provided assistance to the Romanian Ministry of Finance through consulting services. In
joining the program Romania was required to meet certain conditions. Albu et al. s (2011) reports
describes the conditions as followed: The funding came with several conditions: the application of
International Financial Standards (IFS) by several large companies; the requirement to be audited
against IFS and International Standards of Auditing; the requirement for the Ministry of Finance to
issue guidance for the implementation of IAS; and the creation of the institution responsible for the
activity of financial auditing (p.159). In 1999, Romania s involvement in this program resulted in the
harmonization of European Derivatives with an IAS influence, making up the Anglo Saxon
accounting approach. In the study of Deaconu and Buiga

I think that is what she meant, but I don t know; that s all I got. Interviewer: So, like she said it hard maybe picking the school or actually being at the school? Interviewee: Picking the school. Interviewer: That s understandable. You said you looked at the directory, what about when you were at the fair, what did you do there? Interviewee: I picked the information from the school and my parents were there too, so it was really hard because there were so many schools that I really like. Some of those schools in the directory were really good too, so it was kind of cool, but it was hard. Interviewer: To narrow down? Interviewee: Yeah, because there were maybe 100 schools that I had in mind in the book, so I had to narrow it down to 12. Interviewer: Would you say that you first looked up the schools in the book and then when you went to the open house you found more or was it more that you looked at the school and the open house together? Interviewee: Some of the schools didn t have an open house. I did look at the open house and the book; it wasn t really hard, because some of the schools I really liked and some I didn t. It was easy finding the schools and everything. Interviewer: Were you able to attend any open houses in addition to the fair? Interviewee: Yeah. • 3. Tale Of Viking Heroes Analysis It would not be fair for readers to just be presented with these tales and historical facts, without presenting any sorts of analysis that can better direct the reader and help him better understand the context at hand. When interpreting the sagas and all the sources that were used to study the Vikings, one often lacks the ability to situate the context in which they are dealing with, given the fact that he is not a historian or a researcher. One must agree that this short introduction to the lives and popular stories of Viking heroes is marked by graphic descriptions of murders that sometimes look that they could have been avoided. The reader can falsely fall into the reasoning which wants to believe that Vikings were in fact very violent, even among themselves. It is true, the scenes of revenge, self defense or murderous plotting could have been avoided with more peaceful terms. But, what is there to do, if as a Viking or Norseman you are told that upon your death you will have the greatest reward, as long as you live your life as like a warrior? That is why it is important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They had left their native Scandinavia with all their goods. They were mostly farmers, and it is possible that many of them lost their cattle while sailing the North Sea, but survived. This could have led some farmers to become outlaws and steal from others even if it meant being killed in the end. This is also not something proper to the Norsemen. When the first European settlers arrived on the American shores almost 600 years after the Viking era, the possibility that they would starve in an unknown world was as real as their ambition to create a new world. This was the case with the few English settlers who resorted to cannibalism during the winter of 1609 1610 in Jamestwon, Virginia. These settlers were faced with a harsh winter, they were in an unknown land and possibly had lost all their crops and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Moreover, performance evaluation should be added into contract renewal decision. If the opinions about an employee is tend to be negative, the contract with this employee might need to be stopped. Some programs and trainings to address teamwork could be used in Mitchell Memorial Hospital. 3. If you were Prescott, how would you plan to conduct the contract renewal conversation. What would your goals be? What issues would you raise, and why, and how would you raise them? Firstly, I would admit that Ventura is a great surgeon and his technically skills are highly recognized by all employees in cardiovascular center. Due to his hard and excellent work, the vascular department had been improved. He had contribution to the entire Mitchell Memorial Hospital. But I think his issues working with other coworkers become interference to the whole cardiovascular team. The renewal of the contract with him needs to re considered. I would address the issues that the residents taught by him leave the program or is lack of operation experience. One general difference is that in The Destructors the setting is in Great Britain, after the bombing had happened during World War 1, when the buildings were destroyed. The setting of Rocking Horse Winner is a suburban community located on the outskirts of Baltimore, Maryland. This one distinct difference affects the entire background of each story. The children in the story do not seem to be affected by this very much, since they have all pretty much lived there entire lives like this, except T who comes from an upper class family but is forced into poverty by the war. To him and the other boys in the story money seems to be of no great significance. The awkward thing about the family in Rocking Horse Winner is that they all maintain an upper class status even though they are short on money. This is hard on the family especially the mother who can feel no love because of the stress that has been forced upon her heart. The family still maintains there lifestyle as members of the upper class even though the line of money continues to get shorter and shorter. Money in each story is scarce, but how the characters in each story cope with this shortage is very different. In Graham Greene s The Destructors the children know that they are not part of the upper class but it has minimal affect to there ego or there self esteem. The need for money is not there. In D.H. It was the end of freshman year, end of spring, early summer, and everyone had formed their study groups to study for the Algebra final the following week. I, however, wasn t in a group and kept to myself, in my corner by the window. I had no interest in studying and instead was captivated by the dim, warms, of the outside world. As a freshman in highschool, I hated school and showed little interest in it. Staring out the window, I had zoned out, then I was sitting outside under a large tree. The leaves rustling above me, shaking side to side in a smooth swing. It s pretty bark, composed of multiple layers, dug into my back. Roots grabbed the earth, its large knots exposed. The old bark felt rough, with its unique texture, furrowed and scaly. Moss had crawled its way up the majestic trunk, very thin tangles of green mass that swallowed the roots, jutting from the earth. The leaves let the water fall even further until it reach my skin, slowly it rolled to the already wet ground. More of the warm shower fell on me, soft to the touch, almost like velvet flower petals. The petals had soon soaked me, clothes clung to my skin, and hair stuck to my face. At first Zenobia is reluctant to show any emotion towards Priscilla because she sees Priscilla as being young minded and compared to her life she sees herself as a matured and aged women. I think Zenobia is reluctant because she don t want nobody figuring out who she is and having Priscilla look over her put pressure on her to only put more of an act on. But Zenobia do acknowledges Priscilla has lots to learn by saying Every day I shall give you a lecture...on morals, manners, and properties of social life (56). Zenobia recognizes that she is the only person to show her womanly things as people from Blithedale did see her as a feminist for women s rights.. Although Priscilla s can be honest and innocent of all love she is faced with Zenobia s feelings representing another element of deceitfulness in her character. In reality Zenobia reveals she is jealous of Priscilla in many ways for her beauty, how they must compete for Hollingsworth s love and affection, and the attention she gets Zenobia wants that. Zenobia compares herself to Priscilla stating the obvious who can offer more to Hollingsworth and who has more to give to Blithedale. Zenobia feels she shouldn t have to compete with a teenage girl to get what she want so she lowers Priscilla into her mind of thinking, tricking her, and playing her and most importantly trying to keep her away from Hollingsworth. • 13. Factors And Effects Of Invasive Species Introduction Invasive species have a serious effect on native wildlife, representing the second major threat to biodiversity after the destruction of habitat (IUCN/SSC Invasive Species Specialist Group (ISSG)). The introduction of alien species is mainly a consequence of past human actions, especially after the 1950s when international trade increased. Besides the spread due to international trade, invasive species were often introduced for aquaculture and sports purpose (Grosholz 1996; Gozlan et al. 2010). Non native species often outperforms indigenous species in their habitat directly by competitive exclusion, niche displacement, high reproductive rate, predation, fewer natural enemies in the new environment, long life span and their good dispersal (Manchester and Bullock, 2000; Cuda et al, 2015; San Sebastian et al, 2015; GB non native species secretariat, 2017). Furthermore, invasive species are more skilled predators and have a wide range of plasticity regarding food consumption and shelter preferences (Gherardi and Acquistapac 2007; Olsson et al. 2009). Frequently, introduced species are vectors of pathogens and parasites and in the past have caused a rapid decline of native population due to their susceptibility to new disease (GB non native species secretariat). Apart from the effect on biodiversity, non native species caused difficulties in countries budget, where in the UK direct annual costs of invasive species are nearly £1.7 billion (Hulm, 2009; GB ... • 15. Polarized Parties Are Good For America Essay In his essay Polarized Parties Are Good for America , Matthew Yglesias asserts that the two party system is ideal for America. He begins by stating that polarization is bad for elites, as it leaves little to no room for self styled players . He then suggests that the two party system is beneficial for voters, insisting that having clearly labeled candidates creates a menu that allows the masses to know what they re voting for from the start. He concludes by stating that the problem isn t in partisanship, but with the small number of parties. In this essay I will prove that the two party system is bad for America. In the two party system, candidates seem to get pigeonholed into fitting a template; this template only works to stifle new, groundbreaking ideas. During the presidential campaign in 2007, there was a phrase that was used quite often: Politics as usual. This aptly describes an America where, politically, there isn t a great deal of new ideas. Each new candidate will pander to their respective parties, offering essentially the same ideas as the candidate before them. By reducing candidates to labels, they are robbed of any true identity. If political candidates were not weighed down by partisan templates, it would enable them to earn votes based on their ideals and goals, not simply by their mascot. Each side has valid ideas; as long as they re divided, many of those ideas will fall on ears deafened from bias. Yglesias suggests that the aforementioned ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This states that he strongly believes that the mind is unified as a functional system and the facts of science can best show what the mind really is. He then goes on to inform us, it is only as a result of scientific investigation that we ever seem to reach an intellectual consensus about controversial matters (Armstrong 280). This highlights the evidence that no matter where you live, you are ingesting glyphosate. At the same time, this quote is informing people that there are no regulations on glyphosate remnants in food. Also, in Montana a wildlife rehabilitator, Judy Hoy, found that glyphosate precipitated mineral deficiencies and thyroid hormone disruption in whitetail deer, leading to the population decline over the past several years (Whittington). With this evident one can see that production agriculture is harming our native wildlife. Meanwhile, Argentina agriculturists are experiencing the obstacle of glyphosate tolerant weeds, known as superweeds, as well as volunteer genetically engineered crops that pop up and are resistant to glyphosate. Field Trials Researchers utilizing the transgenic plants to produce vaccine for us humans are the main purpose of molecular farming. • 32. Blended Worship By Robert Webber Blended Worship Defined Most church members have a misperception of what blended worship truly is. Because of the worship wars of the past two decades, the typical church member thinks blended worship is a service that uses both contemporary and traditional worship music. While this may be one aspect of blended worship, it fails to capture its full meaning. Robert Webber states that the distinguishing features of blended worship can be arranged under three headings content, structure, and style. 1 According to Webber, the content of blended worship addresses three areas; the language of mystery, the language of story, and the language of symbol.2 The language of mystery acknowledges the unknowable nature of God. The language of story refers to the metanarrative of the Bible; God s redemptive plan for fallen man. The language of symbol describes how we experience the worship of the Holy Spirit. Webber asserts that worship acknowledges the transcendence, the great glory and incomprehensible nature of God the Father. It tells the story from beginning to end of how God created, how the world fell away from him, how he became involved in the history of the world in Israel and in his incarnation in Jesus to rescue the world through his death, resurrection, and coming in glory to reign as lord over all creation. • 33. Descriptive Essay On A Tridaday Morning Wednesday Morning It is a typical Wednesday morning, the middle of the week, and I m running late to school. It s 7:43 and most students are making a mad dash to beat the morning bell, others linger around the green courtyard, catching up with friends, dreading going to class. I make my way through the maze of students, and I catch my best friend, Lauren, in the stairwell at the top of A building, both on our way to the history class we have together. We do not say a word, just share a look that says we want to go home and we need more coffee, before we head into class. Our class is always in chaos in the mornings. The boys compare what they have for breakfast today and discuss last night s baseball game play by play, while the girls get together and share a bit of gossip they heard last night and begin to make plans for the weekend. Today was no exception. Just as the tardy bell rings, I sit in my seat at the corner of the room and notice that Kaylin, who sits behind me, is crying. Her face is red and blotchy and she is staring at her phone. I choose to act like I do not notice, because it must have been a rough morning and I would not want anyone bothering me if I were in her position. Then Abbie, who sits in the desk beside Kaylin, comes in a few minutes late, also crying. Lauren and I exchange confused glances, and I suddenly realize our teacher, Mrs. Hendrix, isn t in the room. How strange, I think to myself, she is almost always here to greet us when we walk in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Comparing The ICTY And The International Criminal Tribunal... At the end of the Cold War, a more widespread interest in post conflict reconstruction was becoming more prevalent. The main components of this interest during the post reconciliation period were accountability and reconciliation. To facilitate this in two different post conflict environments, two respective tribunals were established. These tribunals were known as the ICTY (The International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, est.1993) and ICTR (International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, est.1994) . The ICTY was formed to address the conflict in former Yugoslavia. The situation started when two of the six republics of Yugoslavia, Slovenia and Croatia, declared their independence after the fall of the Berlin Wall. This sparked a lengthy and lethal conflict within the territory. The atrocities that allegedly had been committed included but were not limited to, genocide, rape, and enslavement. Many of the victims were civilians. Because of this the ICTY was created during the war as an international criminal court that applied humanitarian law. It s purpose was to gather information, create an account of events, and prosecute those responsible for committing crimes . The ICTY is considered the first international court. Since it was the first of it s kind, the court was not without controversy. From the beginning, the method of establishing the tribunal was up for debate. The ICTY did not have the legal authority to establish itself. Some states wanted a treaty to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some countries such as America and most European countries were hard hit since they were directly affected by the crisis. Other countries especially those in Asia and Africa were not adversely affected as they were not directly hit by the crisis. This crisis started in the United States after the housing bubble busted. Although the bursting of the housing bubble was the main cause of the crisis, there were a series of events that preceded it. For the borrowers, their wealth was drained and their purchasing power eroded (Martin, 2009). For the financial institutions, their strength as banking institutions was greatly affected. Their liquidity had greatly reduced and most of the banks were struggling to carry out their daily monetary activities. The total losses that were recorded during this crisis were estimated to be trillions of dollars globally. The Federal Reserve as well contributed to this crisis through some of the policies that it instituted. Between the year 2003 and 2004, this institution lowered the rate of the federal funds from the initial 6.5 per cent to just 1.0 per cent (Jane, 2011). This move was aimed at addressing the effects that were associated with the terrorist attacks that took place in September of 2001. These measures were also meant to soften the negative effects that were occasioned by the collapsed dot com bubble. At this time also, there was a perceived risk that the United States could suffer from deflation. These measures were therefore aimed to combat this risk of deflation. The worst thing for a person to experience during their grieving process, is interaction with a person who lacks empathy for their situation. According to Cummins, a grieving individual expects people close to them to have the ability to offer comfort and understanding during a difficult time, such as the death of a loved one. It is often not discovered until tragedy strikes that those who are considered close to the bereaved, are not able to offer the comfort they are seeking. Individuals who show avoidance, and even hostility towards a person grieving can be known to lack empathy. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Grainger explains that it is very important to take care of our basic needs during the grieving process, and during this time it is perfectly acceptable, even necessary, to put our needs above the needs of others (Grainger, 1990). Although we do not think of human suffering as beneficial, especially while in the midst of it, research concludes otherwise. Hurst suggests that individuals can learn important life lessons as a result of their suffering. The first benefit we can learn when suffering from loss is that life is precious. Although we may wish we would have said things or did things in the past prior to losing a loved one, knowing the feeling of regret can push us to do better, and to be better. We can take the suffering and make something positive out of it, and learn from our mistakes (Hurst, 2015). Knowing that life is precious, experiencing grief makes us realize that we need to always let people know how we feel, and never let anything go unsaid. Hurst states, Whether you are angry at the person that you love, have unresolved issues, need their forgiveness or forget to tell them exactly how much you love them make sure you say it today. You never know when you may lose the opportunity to do so (Hurst, 2015). We tend to get caught up in life, and forget to connect with those who are the most important to us. Sontag writes, A way of certifying experience, taking photographs is also a way of refusing it by limiting the experience to a search for the photogenic, by converting into an image, a souvenir (Paragraph 12). Essentially, Sontag is elaborating how people are distracted from their surroundings and experiences to find a photogenic picture or to record what they think to be an experience. While the objective of photography is usually to capture an experience or feeling, many are instead obsessed with finding good lighting, searching for a good background, and are focused on taking the best picture to post on social media.
