Montaigne Essays Summary
Crafting an essay on the "Montaigne Essays Summary" is no simple task; it demands a
comprehensive understanding of Montaigne's intricate ideas and a nuanced ability to distill his
thoughts into a coherent summary. Montaigne's essays are renowned for their depth and
complexity, covering a wide range of subjects with a unique blend of personal reflection and
philosophical exploration.
To begin with, delving into Montaigne's extensive collection of essays requires substantial
research and careful reading. His writing style, influenced by the Renaissance humanism, often
involves subtle nuances and layers of meaning. The essays touch upon diverse themes such as
morality, friendship, education, and the human condition, making it challenging to encapsulate
the richness of his ideas within the confines of an essay.
Furthermore, summarizing Montaigne's work necessitates not only a grasp of the historical and
cultural context in which he wrote but also an ability to connect his ideas across different essays.
The challenge lies in presenting a cohesive summary that captures the essence of his thought
while avoiding oversimplification or distortion.
The process of distillation requires a delicate balance between preserving the original nuances
and making the content accessible to readers unfamiliar with Montaigne's work. Crafting a well-
structured essay involves meticulous planning, thoughtful organization, and a keen awareness of
the essay's overarching narrative.
In addition, the essayist must navigate the fine line between personal interpretation and objective
representation, respecting Montaigne's unique voice while offering insights that resonate with a
contemporary audience. The complexity of Montaigne's ideas demands a nuanced and
sophisticated approach to ensure the summary remains faithful to the original work.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the "Montaigne Essays Summary" poses a formidable
challenge, demanding a deep understanding of Montaigne's philosophy, effective communication
skills, and a keen appreciation for the complexities inherent in his writings. Successfully
encapsulating the essence of Montaigne's essays requires not only academic rigor but also a
mastery of language and a commitment to preserving the integrity of his thought.

The Pros And Cons Of Modular Homes
The popularity of Modular homes is on the rise. According to Global Industry
Analysts Inc., shipping of modular houses in the U.S. is expected to hit 112,000 units
next year. As more people embrace modular housing, understanding how to buy a
modular home is becoming increasingly necessary. It is no surprise that many people
are choosing modular homes instead of the conventionally built ones. Modular
homes, also referred to as prefabricated (prefab) homes are typically relatively
inexpensive and environmentally friendly. In addition, most of them have sleek and
modern designs. The main difference between modular homes and the conventionally
built ones is the fact that modular homes are built in parts in a factory and then
transported to the intended location where it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Therefore, you must understand the laws in your state that govern prefab housing
projects before you get started. All the same, here are common pros and cons of
modular homes. Pros of modular homes Cost effectiveness Regardless of how
much anyone has in the bank, we all do everything we can to get the best bargains
when buying a new home. We aim to do so without ending up with a hovel for a
home. This is what makes modular homes such an attractive option for so many
people. Because modular homes are constructed in factories and in bulk,
manufacturers are able to source raw materials at reduced prices. This reduction in
the cost of materials translates to lower retail prices for the modules with which you
will construct your home. Construction delays caused by the unpredictability of the
weather is another reason why modular homes are often less expensive compared to
site built homes. Moreover, the builder does not have to deal with the potential theft
of materials in the course of the building process. Quick

Reflection Of The Past Ten Weeks
A Reflection of the Past Ten Weeks in FYI 101 When I started college at
Augustana in August and walked into my first day of FYI 101, bright and early on a
Monday morning, I did not know what was in store for me to learn in the following
ten weeks. Coming into college I could not write in a proper, college way. I did not
know how to properly cite sources that I used. This included in text citations and
work cited pages. I also would write every essay in a five or six paragraph format
instead of writingmany shorter paragraphs. I finally did not know how to use
commas or semicolons among many other grammar concepts. I also struggles with
comprehending challenging passages. When I would read I would not understand
what I was reading and would just annotate the main points that the article made by
restating the point in the margins of the paper. Needless to say I learned a lot over
the past ten weeks. One of the first pieces of reading that we read in FYI 101 was
Plato s Allegory of the Cave . This was a passage that I particularly struggled with.
When I read I could not understand what Plato was saying. Due to this I could not
annotate the passage. I spent a lot of time reading and rereading the passage and
eventually was able to start to understand the points that Plato was making. I was then
able not only to annotate what the main points were but was also able to make
connections to other pieces we have read through the term and notice literary
elements in the work. For
Octavia Butler s Kindred Essay
Octavia Butler s Kindred
Throughout the novel Kindred, Butler compared and contrasted modern African
Americans with African Americans that were slaves in the novel. Some of the many
ways she compares them are through education, work ethic, and their personal
feelings about and/or how they handle their own slavery.
Education is very important to the blacks that were enslaved in the novel. The slaves
valued education even more than the modern African Americans like Dana who had
always thought they had very high standards on education. The slaves valued
education so much because to them it was not only a tool to better themselves, but
also a very powerful tool that could potentially lead them to freedom. With the ability

The work ethic of the slaves was much greater than that of Dana and the African
Americans of the modern times. Although Dana had viewed herself as having a
good work ethic, when she was put in the fields for only a short time she could not
withstand the physical hardships which the slaves endured day after day. The
slaves were not only more physically capable to complete the work but they were
also more focused on completing their goal. You must remember that in Dana?s time
money was always a strong motivation for any worker but in the slave?s time a whip
could drive someone just as good. Ultimately the slaves were motivated to complete
their work because they knew that their well being depended on it.
The slaves in the novel seemed to adapt much better to their own slavery than the
modern blacks such as Dana did. Slavery was the only life many of the blacks had
ever known so it was much easier for them to accept their future than it was for
Dana to accept her sudden loss of rights. For Dana to come from a world where the
possibilities of African American?s futures were so broad to suddenly lose all of her
rights and be viewed as property was almost enough to cause Dana a mental
breakdown. Although the slaves did not want theirs lives the way they were, they had
somewhat grown accustomed to the idea of slavery and accepted it as their future. It

Death In Ancient Egyptian Culture
Death is an inevitable part of everyone s life which is why it s important in many
cultures. Funeral rituals are staples in all different societies as a way to honor the
dead when loss of friend of family member and to move on with life. Generally,
people celebrate or mourn the passing of loved ones in different ways. Ancient Egypt
and Ancient Greece differ in multiple ways but similarities in their acts of burial
practices and how they believed one could enter the afterlife were prominent in both
cultures.
Death was a very important aspect in Ancient Egypt culture. They considered death
as a provisional step in the progress to an enhanced life in the afterlife. Egyptians

the nose using a metal hook. The heart was then removed from the body wrapped in

wisdom and good deeds and once one dies, the dead will travel into the afterlife and

Fluoride And Sugar Causes Tooth
Maintaining a healthy smile means proper brushing, flossing, and using fluoride.
Fluoride is a natural mineral that helps to strengthen enamel, reducing the amount of
bacteria that attack your teeth and preventing cavities. Bridgeview Dental Group,

canals, and tooth implants. They ve highlighted a few of the myths that surround
fluoride use, debunking them to reveal the truth.
Sugar Causes Tooth Decay: While this myth is partially true, as sugar is a vehicle for
bacteria, the main cause of cavities is because the enamel breaks down and doesn t
defend the tooth against germs. Fluoride promotes stronger enamel, which protects
the teeth from those oncoming
Tyto Alba s Diet Analysis
Discussion:
After 24 (1992 2016) years 2,176 pellets were analysed by the students at the
County College of Morris. Additionally, on average each pellet contained 2.6 prey
equating to an average of 963 prey discovered in owl pellets per year (Table 1).
After the analysis of the pellets it was discovered that the Tyto alba consumed a
wide spectrum prey, primarily rodents. A total of six prey species were discovered.
The Microtus commonly known as voles were the most abundant prey in the Tyto
alba s diet. Three thousand six hundred and twenty three remains of the Microtus
were identified in pellets that were analysed with a relative abundance of 64.2%.

However, there were factors that had a negative impact on the study such as the
misidentification of prey. The remains of the consumed prey were small and very
fragile which made them prone to breakage. Additionally, before the pellets were
transported to the County College of Morris for analysis, they were stored and
preserved in a lab at the Carolina Biological Supply Company. This made it difficult
to figure out if the prey composite was the Tyto alba s year round diet or if the
dominant species that were consumed depended on the season. In the future the time
between when the owl pellets are gathered to when they are analyzed should be

What If Tonya Was Black
A lot of people have already made up their mind about Tonya Harding. Therefore,
before the biopic movie I, Tonya even hits the big screen, the audience including
Liberal critics already formulated their own conclusion of her. This movie is
about a disgraced former Olympic figure skater who started out as a poor girl who
was physically abused by her mother then by her husband. Nevertheless, the movie
is a comedy sketch and was nominated at the Golden Globes for best Musical or
Comedy. It was reported that during a scene where she was beaten, some of the press
laughed. This makes us wonder why they found this hilarious. Thus, throwing out the
hard question, what if Tonya was black? In a movie review by Manhola Dargis from
the New York Times, the writer notes that even though some scenes in the movie...

The intention was to make Nancy drop out of the Olympics. Tonya pleaded guilty
to withdrawal of information from the authorities. FBI discovered a paper with
handwriting with details of Nancy s schedule and location of her practice.
However, in public opinion, Tonya was already convicted of being a white trash.
Clearly, the movie is about white trash just like black trash, it exists. No matter
what racial and ethnic group you are in, there is always a group of trashy people.
Just the same, there is an implication that being black is equal to being trashy. If I,
Tonya was about black people, people would definitely call it racist. The movie
will be categorized as a typical stereotype black movie. There are many films about
black youth that are constantly getting abused by their immediate family and
relatives. At the same time, they are unable to overcome the problem of poverty
and racism. In these types of films, there is a clear pattern. The audience will one
way or another have a specific reaction to one group. What if I, Tonya became a black

Dulce et Decorum est, by Wilfred Owen. Essay
Dulce et Decorum est, by Wilfred Owen.
The First World War was an event that brought to many people, pain, sorrow and
bitterness. Accounts of the war shows that no other war challenged existing
conventions, morals and ideals in the same way as did World War. Many people
touched by the terrror of the war have written pieces of literature about the massacre
that was World War 1, wishing people to understand the horror and tragedy that befell
those involved. Dulce et Decorum est , by Wilfred Owen, is one such elegy that
presents to the reader a vivid, horrifying description of World
War 1, aiming to illustrate that war is not romantic and heroic, but a senseless and
devastating event. In this poem, techniques such as
imagery, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He describes the soldiers as bent double, like old beggars under sacks , knock kneed ,
limping on ,
all lame, all blind , being drunk with fatigue and deaf . All these descriptions of the
soldiers show the reader the suffering they had to endure and the hardships that they
had to face. This is backed up by the description that men marched asleep . This
description of the soldiers, of how they limped on, blood shod gives the reader an
impression that they can no longer comprehend what is going on around them, that
they are blind and deaf to the world.
Metaphors are used to illustrate more vividly the descriptions used in the poem.
This is evident in the description of the soldiers as old beggars under sacks . This
not only says that they are tired, but that they are so tired they have been brought
down to the level of beggars who have not slept in a bed for weeks on end. In the
description his hanging face, like a devil s sick of sin Owen compares the gas
victim s face to the devil seeming corrupted and baneful. A metaphor even more
effective is one that compares ...vile, incurable sores... with the memories of the
troops. It not only tells the reader how the troops will never forget the experience, but
also how they are frightening tales, ones that will the troops will never be able to tell
without remembering the extremely painful experience. These
The Religious Situation During The Post Quiet Revolution
The religious situation in the post Quiet Revolution (RГ©volution tranquille)
QuГ©bec has evolved into a complex social debate where some adherents consider
religion a necessity for our public institutions, whereas some detractors threat it as a
taboo subject that one should keep part of his/her private life. The overcoming of the
Duplessis Great Darkness (Grande Noirceur) reign was echoed by major political and
social changes where the clerical dominated State was questioned and ultimately
democratically overthrown. These changes left the province into an ongoing
secularization of its institutions and the authorities would, decades later, abolish the
formal instruction of religionin the school system. As far as my personal
experiences go, I would truly like to assert that religion does not have any
impingement on my present life. However, I realize that it is easy to overlook
certain facts and enter in a mere denial state where the reality is not accurately
portrayed as the actual truth. Even though some people would be tempted to
immediately disassociate themselves from any religion, they would first need to
consider the historical baggage that a religion carries and the influence it has on
their own culture. I was obviously not born before the Duplessis era. Therefore, I
did not personally experience the uncompromising religious practices of that period.
However, I was lucky enough to have parents and grandparents that were alive to

Essay about Absolutism vs. Constitutional Monarchy
In the upcoming United States Presidential Election it is possible to see a woman
become elected as President. This would be a first for the United States and also for
most of the world. Throughout the world different types of governments have
survived, faulted, or have been altered. Many of these governments came from early
European countries. Two of the most popular types of governments to come from
Europe are Constitutional Monarchyand Absolutism. Traces of Constitutional

Much of the English goods were imported from other countries as well. Beginning in
the mid seventeenth century England went through many changes including moving
to a commercial and urbanizing country. The first set of changes occurred as
England began producing different types of goods. Originally England was making
thick types of clothes that were made for the colder weathers. In the late seventeenth
century lighter fabrics began to be created. As the change shifted in clothing
construction, goods of other markets began taking over the industry. A wide range of
English products replaced imports on the English market and began to compete
successfully abroad. This shift to exporting goods instead of importing greatly
improved England s economy. These goods included sugar, glass, pottery, iron,
ships, and different typed of mined goods. Instead of paying to import these goods,
England began exporting goods and bringing in a huge amount of money to the
English economy. As the economy began to boom, a change in the way society lived
had also changed. Instead of living in large cities, citizens began moving outward in
the urban areas further away. Although most of the urbanization movement can be
contributed to the raise in population, there were also many other changes that were
occurring. Stagecoaches began having more frequent routes to all of the major cities
and also most of the smaller outlying cities.
Cocaine Addiction In The Workplace Essay
A cocaine addiction not only affects your health, but it also affects your
performance in the workplace. There are many ways that a cocaine addiction can
have a negative effect on your work performance. Below is a list of some of the
ways that your business can suffer from a cocaine addiction:
Increased Sick Days
Cocaine can damage your health in a number of ways. It can cause an increase in
blood pressure, heart rate and body temperature. It can also cause gastrointestinal side
effects. Additionally, chronic cocaine users are more likely to become malnourished.
If your health is being seriously affected by cocaine use, then you will have a harder
time concentrating while you are working. In fact, you may have to take sick days.

However, many people with a cocaine addiction lack a work ethic. They become so
preoccupied with their addiction that they forget about their business. This can lead
to a failed business.
Your Quality Of Work Will Suffer
Your quality of work is likely to suffer if you have a cocaine addiction. When it
comes to business, quality is sometimes more important than quantity. Customers
expect good service from people that they do business with. Customers typically take
their business elsewhere when they are not satisfied with a business. This can cause
your business to lose a lot of money.
Furthermore, not only can you lose existing customers, but it may be harder for you
to attract new ones. Word of mouth is still one of the most popular forms of
advertisement. Many businesses build their clientele based on reviews from their
existing customers. However, if a customer is not happy with the service that they get
from your business, then they are likely to say bad things about it. This can ruin your
business s reputation.

The Minister s Black Veil Alienation
Nearly everyone has judged another individual depending on their appearance, but
most people kneel behind society like a shield to strengthen their unoriginal ideas to
even more precisely mark their target. Mr. Hooper handles this type of violation on
a daily basis. In The Minister s Black Veil Mr. Hooper s alienation through equipping
the veil unearthed society s moral values.
In the renowned parable The Minister s Black Veil, published by Nathaniel Hawthorne
(distinguished for writing The Scarlet Letter)in 1836, a minister around the age of
thirty and still a bachelor named Mr. Hooper bore a black veil upon his face. The

with Mr. Hooper. Soon, the whole community resided to the thought as Mr. Hooper
was illustrated as someone who has done wrong by the community.
Morals and assumptions of the community were stripped from their sides as Mr.
Hooper admonished all of society with the veil. All was revealed as the story
approached the denouement and Mr. Hooper said, Why do you tremble at me
alone?... Tremble also at each other! Have men avoided me, and women shown no

which it obscurely typifies, has made this piece of crape so awful? ... then deem me

Mr. Hooper was seeking an answer for why the community had turned against him
Cinderella In Charles Perrault s Cinderella Frozen In Time
Cinderella Frozen in Time: Why Cinderella continues be portrayed as a victim in the
era of feminism
Cinderella has changed so little over time that it seems we re still in the 1700 s
reading Charles Perrault s first edition. And yet it remains one of the most popular
fairy tales read to
Joshi 8 children. The role of women continues to be either the cruel, evil one or the
good, docile one while the prince continues to be the saving grace of the helpless
girl. The skeleton hasn t changed much as well. A damsel in distress, saved by a
knight in shining armor, who falls in love with her and they live happily ever after.
Does this sound familiar? This sentence might as well be a fairy tale. We ve seen this
over and over in Cinderella, Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White.
I chose Cendrillon or the Little Glass Slippers by Charles Perrault as my fairy tale. I
grew up reading the Disney story book, inspired by Perrault s version. I can still
imagine the animated faces even though it s been years since I ve read that book.
My tale is a modern adaptation of Cendrillon, where the character is not weak willed
or naive. The main focus is on justice and on her relationship with her step siblings
and her Prince which is much more than superficial attraction. In Perrault s version,
Cinderella s father remarries after the death of her mother. Her step mother s cruel
treatment and aggravation is due to her own daughters unpleasant deposition when
compared to Cinderella s good

Sophocles Oedipus The King
Inability to Escape Fate Many people believe that fate has planned out their lives
and despite efforts on their part what was meant to happen, will eventually happen.
This belief has been handed down over the centuries from some of the first
civilizations, such as the Greeks. However, not all Greek citizens wanted destiny to
take control of their lives. Some decided to choose freewill over the will of the gods.
In Oedipusthe King, Sophocleswrites a cautionary tale meant to warn the doubters in
Greek society that regardless of their beliefs in gods and prophecies, it is necessary
to heed their warnings. Oedipus, Jocasta, and Laius are Sophocles characters that
prove that escaping one s fate is not possible, as each of their predicted fates is

Examples Of Parallelism In The Ones Who Walk Away
From Omelas
Something Called Life
What is happiness? The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas by Ursula K.
LeGuin, is a story in which everybody would see it as a brutal and horrific story of
a kid who is being incarcerated for his/her whole life as an exchange of all the
goodness and happiness of Omelas. However, the narrator lets us know the
misunderstanding concept of happiness that the Omelas people have, and how vague
and profound this feeling can be for certain people who are living in a Fairy tale
city. As the story goes along, the irony, parallelism, and persuasion that the narrator
is giving to the story shows how elusive happiness seems to be for the people living
in Omelas, and the selfishness they can have when it comes to pursuing their
happiness. Irony is not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Per instance, as the narrator describes Omelas festival, he mentions a kid as, A
child of nine or ten sits at the edge of the crowd, alone, playing on a wooden flute.
People pause to listen, and they smile, but they do not speak to him, for he never
ceases playing and never sees them, his dark eyes wholly rapt in the sweet, thin
magic of the tune. This is one of the paragraphs in which the unhappiness of a kid
on the outside world seems to be obvious, and it is somehow related to the kid who
is living in the cell. As a matter of fact, the narrator describes what could happen if
the kid who is living in the cell is released, and he clearly makes a comparison in
between these two kids. The narrator explains, Indeed, after so long it would
probably be wretched without walls about it to protect it, and darkness for its eyes,
and its own excrement to sit in. Hence, the narrator uses parallelism to show the fact
of the kid, who is playing the wooden flute, as a reflection of the incarcerated kid; as
they both reflect darkness in their
Difference Between Inflation And Inflation
INFLATION
1.Inflation happens in an economy when there is a rise of level of goods and
services, due to an increase in the volume of money in an economy over a period
of time. It is also referred to as an (erosion) in the value of an economy s currency.
When inflation is high, it affects the entire economy. Consumers are not able to
afford the goods and services because of the high prices. Additionally, when the
price level of goods and services increase, the value of currency reduces. Meaning,
that each unit of currency buys fewer goods and services.
2.The different types of inflation are:
пЃ¶Demand pull inflation This occurs when there is a high result of consumer
demand. The prices increase for the same goods and services, when consumers are

Deflation A general decline in prices, often caused by reduction in the supply of
money or credit. Also, it can be because of a decrease in investment, government and
personal spending. This is the opposite of Inflation. (A fall in the general price level).
Disinflation The process of reversing inflation without creating unemployment or
reducing the output in the economy. It is a deliberate attempt to counter a highly
inflationary situation. (A decrease in the rate of inflation).
Nevertheless, the differences between reflation and stagflation are because reflation
is a rise in the rate of inflation while the prices were not rising and stagflation is more
serious, when the economy becomes stagnant, but still experiences inflation. In
addition, the differences between deflation and disinflation are that deflation can be
both manmade and natural. Disinflation is always planned and is based on the
government policy. Deflation always emerges in the form of depression and
disinflation price level comes to normal

FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT

THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
(Ephesians 5: 18)
We believe the Holy Spirit dwells in the Christian because the New Testament
teaches that Christians possess the gift of the Holy Spirit and that the Holy Spirit
dwells in Christians now; in this life. (Acts 2:38; I Cor. 3: 16; I Cor. 6: 19; etc.)
However, when observed in its context, Ephesians 5: 18 can t referrer to the gift of
the Holy Spirit as promised by Peter on the Day of Pentecost. The context shows
that Paul s companion statements, be filled with the Spirit (Eph. 5: 18), and let the
word of Christ dwell in you richly were written to people who were Christians;
therefore, they had already received the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38), and been

Molar Mass Lab Report
Introduction The mole is equivalent to 6.022 X 10ВІВі, which indicates how much

The American Red Cross Website
The American Red Cross organizations main focus is recruiting blood donors and
volunteers; this is very clear from the first click on their website a pop up window
asking for the reader s zip code in order to find a donation site near them. The tabs
up at the top labeled with large print are inferred to be their most valued ideas.
Below each of those tabs is a list of resources related to those individual tabs that
help better define their purpose. The American Red Cross website uses the all three
of the main types of rhetoricpathos, ethos, and logos in a way that benefits their
organization and successfully grasps their audience.
Once the Give Blood tab has been clicked, a very large photo of a child in a
hospital bed covers the page. This is a good example of the use of the pathos
rhetoric. This child, who is possibly dying, along with similar photos, spark
something in the reader s heart. It definitely calls for an emotional response that will
require action that accompanies their message (the donation of blood or money). This
entire website is full of pictures and short messages that warrant an emotional
feedback. That being said, the Red Cross is not begging for sympathy or toying with
the public s emotions in a way that makes them seem superficial. They maintain a
balance of sensitive content through pictures and messages and dignifying stoicism in
their data.
This website has a lot of ethos appeal as well. The tab About Us has a subsection of
Trail Obstacles
The smell of oak and pine filled my nose, the sky was blue and all you can see was
the mountains and trees. It was my cousin, grandpa, uncle, my uncle s friend, then
my dad and I. We were in the High sierra Mountains in california. We did not expect
the trail to be this difficult. We overcame obstacles that seemed impossible. Once
we arrived to the campsite we stayed their for a few days. That hike made me realize
what true success really feels like.
After a good night s rest, we headed off to the trail. We had to take frequent breaks,
because the air was super thin. The trail was rocky, uneven, and slippery. If I were to
fall that would be very very bad. I thought it was easy, but then the impossible
happened.
No one in the group thought it was part of the trail. The rain has washed out the
trail. All was left was a one foot ledge. With our big boots it seemed impossible. We

last mile was the hardest mile out of the whole trip. My legs were sore, I had a
headache, and I was very thirsty. However, when we saw the trail head we were
filled with joy. Once we stepped of the trail we felt like we succeeded.
I will always remember the smell of the wood and the beautiful scenery. We were
not expecting the trail to be washed out. The group overcame obstacles that seemed

we got back. I felt like I succeeded and accomplished and proud. I would go on that

Summary Of Speak By Laurie Hales Anderson
The novel Speak by Laurie Hales Anderson shows Melinda Sordino struggling
through the year, and her recovery from the painful memory of getting raped at the
party in summer break. In the beginning of the story, the story shows how bad
Melinda feels and then she changes and starts growing and at the final stage of the
story Melinda becomes a strong hard oaktree like person. In the book Speak, the
author symbolizes the tree to show Melinda s change from being an outcast to being
an accepted person; this also supports the theme: time can help heal one s painful
memories. In the beginning of the year, her trees looked like trees that existed
nowhere on earth, but by the end of the year, her trees were breathing and looked as

As the year goes on Melinda finds Heather from Ohio. She realizes that Heather is
also in the same position as her. The relationship with Heather allows Melinda to
build on herself. She sees herself as a strong oak tree with a wide scarred think and
thousands of leaves reaching into the sun (78). However Heather decides to end
the relation in the friendship between Melinda and joins the Marthas. After
Melinda makes the turkey bone tree which represents herself, Ivy in her art class
shows interest toward her, and becomes the second Heather to Melinda. Ivy tells
Melinda that it s just fine the way it is, it just needs some leaves. Layer the leaves
and make them slightly different sizes and they will look great .(146). Ivy helps
Melinda see that the tree is just fine the way it is, and it is only the wounded parts
she has to work on; the tree only has to regrow some leaves, as Melinda could also
be healed if she cuts off her wounds. Towards the end of the year, there is a clear
change in Melinda and she is confident of herself. When Andy tries to attack her
again she says NNNOOO!!! (188) This shows how much she has grown because
she decides not to be a silent victim anymore. Now she is a definitely breathing
(197) tree. She came up struggling and feeling alone by herself, but she knew that
she made a lot of progress from the start.
Analysis Of Sisterhood Is Complicated By Ruth Padawer
Every person deserves the right to experience a sense of community amongst people
who share a common characteristic. A sense of fellowship amongst similar people
allows a person to become more comfortable with who they are through interactions
with others who are going through or have gone through the same triumphs or
hardships. Without this feeling of belonging, one could be driven into insanity.
Anxiety due to isolation and desolation could run rampant through a person s mind
because of the loneliness that comes with a lack of communitymaking it an essential
part of a humanhood. By definition however, community invites inimitability.
Community can be defined as a group of unique individuals with shared

One Of The Most First Essential Steps When Implementing
One of the most first essential steps when implementing a marketing plan is to
identify the research problem. Marketing research helps to identify a series of
problems, also known as research questions that are crucial for achieving targeted
objectives through a marketing plan. The Chicken Coop, however, had two
different proposals proposed by McMicheal and Wallace while seeing drops in sales

in the field, along with the CEO, an appropriate research method should be
employed for further exploring this problem. One suggestion may be to include a
survey for customers so that a level of customer service can be analyzed and

One of the critical matter when developing a marketing plan is to identify the
research methodology. The followings were proposed by Buckmeister the CEO,

Taste Tests: The purpose of the taste test is to gather objective source about food
quality, relative to the competition. One way to conduct this method is to gather local
customers to actually taste its products. However, it requires additional funds and
thus, creates an economical burden.
Brand Image Monitoring Surveys: The purpose of this method is to gather
quantitative data on the firm s brand image via telephonic survey. Although this is an
uneconomical method, this may affect firm s brand image as a whole, since some
consumer may perceive this as telephone marketing scheme, besides funds may be
greater depending on its quantitative research performed.
The Customer Experience Study: The purpose of this study is to gather sources on

Iraq has been in the war since 1980. War after war. These devastated wars had made
the country on of the worst in the word in many aspects. Of course, they had
influenced the life of each and every person living there. I have seen the war and
saw all affects that the war could left behind. From destroyed cites to desperate
people that have no hope to rebuild their country and their lives. It affected me
personally and shaped my personality. When I see all these pessimistic and dark
atmosphere, I feel there should be some people that can at least change this mode
to better one. This made me to feel responsible to do something and be part to what
brings happiness to those people. Therefore, it has always been my dream to be a
productive person in the community. I think one of the best way to be a positive
element in the society is to be properly educated both mentally and technically.
In Iraqi still most of the government regularities are done via paper and people have
to wait a long time to do simple things that will take minutes if done via a

Aim
The aim of the river study at both Tannum sands wild cattle and south tree Boyne
Island was to undertake and investigate and collect data on the abiotic and biotic
contributions to the mangrove ecosystem and to analyse the human impacts,
regarding both the animal and plants distribution and abundance.
Hypothesis
It is predicted that the distribution and the abundance of both the animals and plants
of the mangroves ecosystem would differ depending on the locations and the effects
of the abiotic factors.
Apparatus
1 x Anemometer ( to calculate the speed of wind)
1 x Thermometer (to measure the temperature of the air and water)
1 refractometer
1 moisture sensor probe ( measure the temperature of the soil)
1xQuadrats 1m by 1m
1xBuilder string
1xSpirit level
1xGum boots
1xPlastic bags (to collect samples)

Method
First of all we located the animals and the plants abundance surrounding the
mangroves ecosystem, to determine the population within each site. The materials
were then gathered to commence the sampling for the abiotic factors. The
measurements of the distribution of all organisms were measured first including the
abiotic factors. A 14 metre long transect was made along
Aylmer s Obsession In The Birth Mark
No one is perfect, We may try to be or aspire to be, But it can never be humanly
possible. The definition of beauty in the Webster s dictionary states Pleasing the
senses of the mind, Or being very high standard of looks. Often in the world man
attempts to perfect mother nature. During most of these occasions this attempt
leads to devastating endings, such as in the case of The Birth Mark by Nathaniel
Hawthorne. In this story the main character Aylmer lets his obsession with beauty
and looks destroy his world. Aylmer emphasizes the mark upon his wife Georgiana
s cheek. The birth mark is described as a human hand (213) Throughout the story
Aylmer displays his affection for his wife, as well as his disguse with her facial
appearance. Kissing her only on her right cheek, not the one that bores the
expression of the crimson hand (215). Howard Jeffery states in his writing on The
Birth Mark that Aylmer is trying to play the role of the protective male, He feels that
the mark may render him unnecessary to Georgiana . Aylmer s insecurities,

Dahmer s victims on the walls of the room and notices the putrid vapor coming

Exploring the Factors Contributing to the Development of the Cold War There were
several factors which led to the development of the Cold War. In this essay I will
discuss the disagreement over Polandand Truman s personality.
Disagreement over how Poland should be governed was a very important factor in

Poland to be democratic whereas Stalin wanted to make sure that Poland s new

This clash of ideas was important as it harmed the relation between the countries,
and therefore led to a Cold War developing. The British and the Americans were
also horrified by Russia s behaviour regarding the Warsaw uprising. When the
London Poles (the anti Soviet potential government) decided to seize control of
part of Poland, the Soviet army did nothing to help them although they were very
close. As a result, it was brutally destroyed by the Germans and almost 300,000
Poles were killed in the process. Again, this harmed the relation between Britain and
America and the USSR. At Yalta, they tried to resolve the problems concerning the
government of Poland and Polish land. The borders of Poland were altered without
too much problem and it was agreed that the Lublin government in Poland was to be
expanded to include some London Poles as well and that free elections would be
held as soon as possible. However, this was not put into practice; Stalin only talked
about bringing non communists into Poland without carrying it out and Molotov, the
Foreign Minister rejected the idea of letting the London Poles have a significant role
in the government. This led to extreme disappointment because people had thought
that Stalin would allow western style governments to be set up in Eastern Europe and
it also meant that people lost
Anne Hathaway Interview Analysis
Many Filipino compared the interview of Anne Hathaway made by Manny Dela

Puritans And The Salem Witch Trials
Introduction
Puritans had many beliefs that affected the Salem Witch Trials, these were based on
how the attendance or lack of attendance of the church, how people should behave,
social class, and the way the government should be handled. Puritans were English
Protestants that came to America in 1630. They sought to reform the Church of
England. When they first came to America they settled at Salem, Massachusetts. The
main reason the Puritan s came to Salem was for freedom of religion which they did
not have in England. The Puritans also came because they believed that the Church
of England was not religious or enforcing religion enough. Puritans were just like the
Pilgrims. Years later the Salem Witch Trials started in 1692 and ended... Show more

Salem Village and Town When the Puritans first came to America, they settled in
Salem, Massachusetts. In Salem there was a village and a town. The richer would
live in the town, as the less fortunate would live in the village. In the village ... in the
town... Since the Puritans governed themselves, they chose the laws and how to run
the government. In the village and town going to church was one of the most
important things to Puritans. It was so important, that they would go to Church
every single day. Anybody that would not attend church was frowned upon and was
in fact illegal. Having a church membership, however did have its benefits. The
citizens of Salem that did attend church were able to vote. This caused for church
members to have a considerable amount of power and influence, they would
practically run the church and decide everything. Since the Puritans established
Salem they decide all the rules, because they saw it as their responsibility toward
God (Marlowe 29). This explains why they were so strict with their lives and church.
The government the Puritans ran had no religious freedom,

The noteworthy mathematicians and their contributions to the solution and their

Introduction
Building on the successes of their ancient predecessors the mathematicians of the
European Renaissance searched for an algebraic solution to the cubic equation. The
ancient Egyptian and Babylonian mathematicians produced solutions for the linear
and quadratic equations. By 628, Brahmagupta, the Indian mathematician, developed
the general quadratic formula for solving a quadratic equation. In the eighth century,
the great Persian mathematician, Al Kharizmi, offered a solution to the quadratic
equation by completing the square. But solving the cubic equation or finding the
zeroes of the polynomials of degree three evaded the great mathematicians. Omar
Khayyan, the Islamic poet, astronomer, and mathematician attempted to find a
general algebraic solution to the cubic equation but was able to only offer a geometric
solution for a specific cubic equation. During the Renaissance, Tartaglia, Cardano,
Viete, Fermat, and Descartes, made advances in solving the cubic equation. Later,
Newton and Riemann would
The Us Real Estate Industry
Industry Overview: The US real estate industry is a staple in the US economy. It is
one of the main drivers in Economic growth and a telltale sign of the overall health
of the United States. For this reason, this industry is often thought of as cyclical and
largely dependent on the health of the economy and influx of demographics. In 2000
20005 there were large interest rate drops, which allowed this industry to thrive .
Rising demands for real estatepaired with these low interest rates kept the economy
growing as well as residential construction to match. However, in 2006 the market
for residential properties took a large hit in demand and prices began to plummet.
This nationwide crash was realized through the nation, leaving real estate levels at
an all time low . Since then, interest rates have remained extremely low and real
estate values and economic growth has begun to pick up. With the reverse of the
real estate industry came the rise of public storage. People began spending more
once we got over the hump of the recession, leading to crowded homes. As they
needed a place to store their items, self storage became the go to solution. With
more than $22 billion in annual revenue in the US alone, self storage has now
stretched itself to over 49,000 facilities worldwide. Total rentable space is almost
2.3 billion square feet, and about one in 10 households now rent at least 1 storage
unit . The size, quality, and amenities of a self storage company vary with the

around the world that have the same mission; to promote animalwelfare. This issue
has a deep rooted history, various legislative acts being voted on and passed, as
well as many effects from these organizations, and legislative bills. Animal farms
find their first start in 7500 BC where goats and sheep were farmed for their
resources such as wool, milk, and meat (Early Farming). Even 7,000 years before

When these laws are passed, producers are burdened with rules and regulations that
they must follow. For example, it could be involving the slaughter, transportation,
or shelter the livestock is housed in. The law could require a certain amount of
square footage or acreage per a selected number of livestock. Next the middleman
is affected. The middleman could be anyone from a grocery store owner to an
owner of a store that sells things that use animal products. Usually the laws require
farmers to use a more expensive route to caring for an animal thus the farmer has
to raise his or her prices when selling the animal or product. The grocery store
owner then would have to pay more for the animal products he is purchasing, but
he would also be able to advertise depending on the product that his products were
organic, antibiotic free, or free of animal testing. This could both benefit or
drawback his business depending on the consumers in the area. The consumer is the
final group to be affected by animal welfare acts. There are both positive and
negatives to the consumer side. The positives to the consumer side is that they can
take advantage of antibiotic free, organic, animal testing free and other specialized
products. If consumers are conscious of what they are putting in and on their bodies
they would appreciate the choices these laws allow them. The
Redlands Wind Ensemble
The University of Redlands Wind Ensemble, directed by Eddie R. Smith, put on a
show at the Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, November 16th. Walking into the
monumental Chapel I was unsure of what to expect. As I walked in I saw the
amazing artwork around, the high ceilings, and a wide variety of instruments
scattered on different levels of the stage. On the first level there were many small
hand held instruments such as flutes and clarinets, on the second there were a wide
variety of brass instruments, and finally in the last row were the percussion
instruments. Knowing that it was a wind ensemble and not a traditional orchestra like
the ones we have been made familiar with during this course, I was unsure of what to
expect. I thought that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This song seemed to require the most work from the performers as it used a wide
range of dynamics, pitches, and tempo. The last song of the evening, and probably
my favorite (not just because it was the last), was Folk Dances . This song, just
like the first, had a very festive feel to it. The upbeat tempo, lead by the flutes and
clarinets, made the song very enjoyable to hear and also had a very happy feel to
it, which, in my mind, made it a very appropriate closer. The song started with a
great tempo but a relatively soft dynamic. This quickly changed about half way
through the song when the dynamics picked up. The loud dynamics with the fast
tempo at the end of the song had a very grandiose sound and left the audience with a
great taste in their mouths. Overall, this was a very good performance. The audience
applauded greatly at the end as parents stood proudly and embraced their sons and
daughters. I thought that it was well put together and was very interesting. I enjoyed
the music more than I thought I would and have the upmost of respect for the

Jekyll and Mr. Hyde s appearance wasn t mentioned much in the readings. He is
described as middle aged, well groomed, and nice . One quote portray s Dr. Jekyll s

Montaigne Essays Summary. Essays of Montaigne by Michel de Montaigne Open Library

  • 1. Montaigne Essays Summary Crafting an essay on the "Montaigne Essays Summary" is no simple task; it demands a comprehensive understanding of Montaigne's intricate ideas and a nuanced ability to distill his thoughts into a coherent summary. Montaigne's essays are renowned for their depth and complexity, covering a wide range of subjects with a unique blend of personal reflection and philosophical exploration. To begin with, delving into Montaigne's extensive collection of essays requires substantial research and careful reading. His writing style, influenced by the Renaissance humanism, often involves subtle nuances and layers of meaning. The essays touch upon diverse themes such as morality, friendship, education, and the human condition, making it challenging to encapsulate the richness of his ideas within the confines of an essay. Furthermore, summarizing Montaigne's work necessitates not only a grasp of the historical and cultural context in which he wrote but also an ability to connect his ideas across different essays. We aim to do so without ending up with a hovel for a home. This is what makes modular homes such an attractive option for so many people. Because modular homes are constructed in factories and in bulk, manufacturers are able to source raw materials at reduced prices. This reduction in the cost of materials translates to lower retail prices for the modules with which you will construct your home. Construction delays caused by the unpredictability of the weather is another reason why modular homes are often less expensive compared to site built homes. Moreover, the builder does not have to deal with the potential theft of materials in the course of the building process. Quick

Coming into college I could not write in a proper, college way. I did not know how to properly cite sources that I used. This included in text citations and work cited pages. I also would write every essay in a five or six paragraph format instead of writingmany shorter paragraphs. I finally did not know how to use commas or semicolons among many other grammar concepts. I also struggles with comprehending challenging passages. When I would read I would not understand what I was reading and would just annotate the main points that the article made by restating the point in the margins of the paper. Needless to say I learned a lot over the past ten weeks. One of the first pieces of reading that we read in FYI 101 was Plato s Allegory of the Cave . This was a passage that I particularly struggled with. When I read I could not understand what Plato was saying. Due to this I could not annotate the passage. I spent a lot of time reading and rereading the passage and eventually was able to start to understand the points that Plato was making. I was then able not only to annotate what the main points were but was also able to make connections to other pieces we have read through the term and notice literary elements in the work. For

Octavia Butler s Kindred Essay Octavia Butler s Kindred Throughout the novel Kindred, Butler compared and contrasted modern African Americans with African Americans that were slaves in the novel. Some of the many ways she compares them are through education, work ethic, and their personal feelings about and/or how they handle their own slavery. Education is very important to the blacks that were enslaved in the novel. The slaves valued education even more than the modern African Americans like Dana who had always thought they had very high standards on education. Although Dana had viewed herself as having a good work ethic, when she was put in the fields for only a short time she could not withstand the physical hardships which the slaves endured day after day. The slaves were not only more physically capable to complete the work but they were also more focused on completing their goal. You must remember that in Dana?s time money was always a strong motivation for any worker but in the slave?s time a whip could drive someone just as good. Ultimately the slaves were motivated to complete their work because they knew that their well being depended on it. The slaves in the novel seemed to adapt much better to their own slavery than the modern blacks such as Dana did. Slavery was the only life many of the blacks had ever known so it was much easier for them to accept their future than it was for Dana to accept her sudden loss of rights. For Dana to come from a world where the possibilities of African American?s futures were so broad to suddenly lose all of her rights and be viewed as property was almost enough to cause Dana a mental breakdown. Although the slaves did not want theirs lives the way they were, they had somewhat grown accustomed to the idea of slavery and accepted it as their future. It is much easier not

This description of the soldiers, of how they limped on, blood shod gives the reader an impression that they can no longer comprehend what is going on around them, that they are blind and deaf to the world. Metaphors are used to illustrate more vividly the descriptions used in the poem. This is evident in the description of the soldiers as old beggars under sacks . This not only says that they are tired, but that they are so tired they have been brought down to the level of beggars who have not slept in a bed for weeks on end. In the description his hanging face, like a devil s sick of sin Owen compares the gas victim s face to the devil seeming corrupted and baneful. A metaphor even more effective is one that compares ...vile, incurable sores... with the memories of the troops. It not only tells the reader how the troops will never forget the experience, but also how they are frightening tales, ones that will the troops will never be able to tell without remembering the extremely painful experience. The Religious Situation During The Post Quiet Revolution The religious situation in the post Quiet Revolution (RГ©volution tranquille) QuГ©bec has evolved into a complex social debate where some adherents consider religion a necessity for our public institutions, whereas some detractors threat it as a taboo subject that one should keep part of his/her private life. The overcoming of the Duplessis Great Darkness (Grande Noirceur) reign was echoed by major political and social changes where the clerical dominated State was questioned and ultimately democratically overthrown. These changes left the province into an ongoing secularization of its institutions and the authorities would, decades later, abolish the formal instruction of religionin the school system. As far as my personal experiences go, I would truly like to assert that religion does not have any impingement on my present life. However, I realize that it is easy to overlook certain facts and enter in a mere denial state where the reality is not accurately portrayed as the actual truth. I was obviously not born before the Duplessis era. Therefore, I did not personally experience the uncompromising religious practices of that period. However, I was lucky enough to have parents and grandparents that were alive to give me a detailed portrait

  • 20. Sophocles Oedipus The King Inability to Escape Fate Many people believe that fate has planned out their lives and despite efforts on their part what was meant to happen, will eventually happen. This belief has been handed down over the centuries from some of the first civilizations, such as the Greeks. However, not all Greek citizens wanted destiny to take control of their lives. Some decided to choose freewill over the will of the gods. In Oedipusthe King, Sophocleswrites a cautionary tale meant to warn the doubters in Greek society that regardless of their beliefs in gods and prophecies, it is necessary to heed their warnings. Oedipus, Jocasta, and Laius are Sophocles characters that prove that escaping one s fate is not possible, as each of their predicted fates is realized despite extensive efforts to thwart them. It is difficult to hear bad news and often people will do whatever it takes to change the outcome. Most women do not want to lose their husband or their child. When the priests of Apollo came to Jocasta and claimed, Laius was fated to die by the hand of his son, a son to be born to him and to me, (Sophocles 41) Jocasta naturally wanted to save the man she loved. Deflation A general decline in prices, often caused by reduction in the supply of money or credit. Also, it can be because of a decrease in investment, government and personal spending. This is the opposite of Inflation. (A fall in the general price level). Disinflation The process of reversing inflation without creating unemployment or reducing the output in the economy. It is a deliberate attempt to counter a highly inflationary situation. (A decrease in the rate of inflation). Nevertheless, the differences between reflation and stagflation are because reflation is a rise in the rate of inflation while the prices were not rising and stagflation is more serious, when the economy becomes stagnant, but still experiences inflation. In addition, the differences between deflation and disinflation are that deflation can be both manmade and natural. Disinflation is always planned and is based on the government policy. Deflation always emerges in the form of depression and disinflation price level comes to normal

It is one of the main drivers in Economic growth and a telltale sign of the overall health of the United States. For this reason, this industry is often thought of as cyclical and largely dependent on the health of the economy and influx of demographics. In 2000 20005 there were large interest rate drops, which allowed this industry to thrive . Rising demands for real estatepaired with these low interest rates kept the economy growing as well as residential construction to match. However, in 2006 the market for residential properties took a large hit in demand and prices began to plummet. This nationwide crash was realized through the nation, leaving real estate levels at an all time low . Since then, interest rates have remained extremely low and real estate values and economic growth has begun to pick up. With the reverse of the real estate industry came the rise of public storage. The middleman could be anyone from a grocery store owner to an owner of a store that sells things that use animal products. Usually the laws require farmers to use a more expensive route to caring for an animal thus the farmer has to raise his or her prices when selling the animal or product. The grocery store owner then would have to pay more for the animal products he is purchasing, but he would also be able to advertise depending on the product that his products were organic, antibiotic free, or free of animal testing.
