Notes On Buffalo Wild Wings
Buffalo Wild Wings Buffalo Wild Wings first opened their doors in 1982 with one restaurant in
Columbus, Ohio and has grown into a popular, mainstream restaurant with a store in every state
in the United States. They have even begun to open up stores around the world. Their slogan is
Wings. Beer. Sports. This restaurant prides itself on being the ultimate place to gather with
friends to grab some excellent wings, drink one of their many beers on tap, and watch sports.
(About Buffalo Wild Wings. (n.d.).) Service Theater Framework The service experience
includes four different aspects that must be understood before analyzing the experience:
services setting, the service workers, the service customers, and the service process. The service
setting is where the action or service performance unfolds (Fisk et al, 2014, p. 26). The setting
can also be what the customer is unable to see (backstage). The service workers are those who
work together to create the service for the customers including the seen and unseen. The service
customers are the person, group, or organization receiving the service. Finally, the service
process is the series of events during the service received (Fisk et al, 2014, p. 26). Service Issues
The hype for Buffalo Wild Wings coming to Kearney was unsurpassed. I was just as excited to try
this new venue as the rest of the town, even though I had been to other Buffalo Wild Wings around
Nebraska. Unfortunately, my excitement was hindered by disappointment

Nursing Safe Profession
Is Nursing a Safe Profession? Nurses are more prone to acquire disease, because of coming in
direct contact with the patients. They are exposed to various kinds of disease from their
patients. The disease could be Blood Borne, Air Borne or from Contact. According to National
Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, 44% of nurses are exposed to Blood and other
bodily secretions from the patients. There are chances of nurses getting these diseases by coming
in contact with blood or bodily secretions except sweat of the patients for example an accidental
needle stick or if the nurse has open skin and the infected blood or bodily secretion from the
patient comes in direct contact with that open skin or it comes in direct contact with the nurses
eyes. Another kind of disease exposure are Air Borne disease like T.B. (Tuberculosis), influenza,
etc. These pathogens are spread through air; by coughing or sneezing of the infected person. These
pathogens travels a long distance in the air and the nurses taking... Show more content on

These kind of pathogens spreads through contact. By contact means it could be a direct or indirect
contact. Direct contact means by touching the patient directly, and indirect contact means by
coming in contact with the furniture in the patients room. However precautions are taken by the
administration to prevent the spread and exposure of these pathogens. Sometimes it s too late to
put them in place. Like a patient is admitted into the hospital in an emergency and primary care is
being started, and once the patient s condition stabilizes other tests for the above mentioned
suspected diseases are carried out, and the test turns out positive. By this time the nurses are already
been exposed to some of these diseases which requires more than the standard precautions being

This sculpture falls in the modern art category and the style is abstract expressionism. This sculpture
is very large it is actually 110cm. The artist that created this sculpture was one of the many fine
French Sculptors, he was one of the younger generation who started out as a Symbolist painter as
well as a tapestry designer but he got an eye disease around the age of 40 and he had to give
these things up but then found love for sculpting . This artist had a love for Greek sculpture but he

Bronze sculpture
The Rodin Museum, Philadelphia, USA
The style of this sculpture falls under impressionism. The dimensions are ( 113x 57.8 x 40.5
cm). This particular sculpture was actually entered in a competition that was intended to design
a monument that was meant to honor and salute the heroes of Paris who took part in the
Defense of Paris during the Franco Prussian War, although Rodin did no win the contest this
monument was still able to be installed in Verdun in the 19th century to show appreciation to
the French soldiers of World War I. When you look closely at this sculpture you will see a female
who has wings and to me this symbolizes an angel, she is over top of a warrior of some sort who
seems hurt or wounded, possibly dead. This female may be his guardian angel or something. The
lady with wings seems to be screaming because her mouth is wide open , I am not sure if this is a
cry for help or a rejoicing moment.

Bush Pilots Essay
In the early years of flying the bush pilots were an essential growth mechanism for northern
communities. In time of distress they were there to provide the three core emergency services.
The bush pilots served as air ambulances, firefighters and as a tool for policing. One of the other
core functions was transportation and a communication conduit to communities where in some
places dog sleds were the primary form of transportation. Earlier bush planes utilized aerial
survey techniques that were used in developing some of the first reliable maps. It could be said
that both the communities and especially the resources were exploited with use of earlier period
planes. This was clearly far outweighed by the need for the most basic and... Show more content on

With time being the most critical element in of providing proper medical care in the years
following the Great War air ambulances were in high demand. It was also essential to have
doctors come in to remote communities for preventative care. The early pilots helped police as
aerial scouts and also as a means of reaching communities when they needed the Mounties help
fast. There are stories of pilots like Wop May first scouting for the RCMP to find their fleeing
suspect. Reportedly Wop May then quickly extracted an injured Mountie saving his life. In that
situation before early airplanes it could have been days before the mountie received medical
assistance which would have unfortunately resulted most likely in a fatality. The final emergency
role was early firefighting which used airplanes for scouting and later on for water bombing. As
shown many critical roles were performed by early planes and the daring pilots that flew them.
This made for outlying communities which saved many lives. As beasts of burden the early
airplanes excelled. From the time they carried their first large loads of cargo and mail they
illustrated how quickly and easily large freight loads could be brought in to remote regions. There
were so few methods of transportation that could easily deliver more than one hundred pounds of
cargo if there was no water or road access. It was certainly clear from the first cargo flights that
aviation would be the preferred method of

Filial Piety In The Good Earth By Pearl S. Buck
In this day and age, if you were abused as a child by your family members it is more socially
acceptable to leave your family entirely behind as soon as you turn eighteen, or even before that
point. Back in China during and before the time of the Chinese Revolution, this was not the case.
In The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck, Buck demonstrates the bind of filial pietythrough the
depiction of Wang Lung and his uncle. Since the time of the Chinese Revolution, the dynamics of a
familyhave changed in a positive way because people are beginning to not be bonded to their
family on the basis of filial piety.
In The Good Earth, main character Wang Lung is bound to his uncle because of filial piety. Wang
Lung s uncle is a lazy and imposed upon Wang Lung and his family throughout the novel,
continuously using Wang Lung s duty of filial piety to silence him. This passage from the novel
sums up Wang Lung s experience with his uncle. Wang Lung s Uncle began at this time to become
the trouble which Wang Lung had surmised from the beginning that he might be. This uncle was
the younger brother of Wang Lung s father, and by all the claims of relationship he might depend
upon Wang Lung if he had not enough for himself and his family (59). As his father s brother, and
his elder, Wang Lung must respect his uncle and listen to his wishes. Wang Lung s obligation to
respect the older generation leads to his uncle continuously exploiting him, in his poverty and his
wealth. Wang Lung s uncle is

Nissan UK is able to use inflation in the prices of their goods, this is because they are then able to
make sure that they are taking advantage of this type of opportunity their organisation, this is going
to allow their company to make a profit at the time of a recession.
From the economic review for January 2012 has a graph that shows the output of the three major
economic sectors: manufacturing, construction and services. The graph shows the recession in
2008 to 2011 and how it recovers.
The graph shows that the manufacturing was a lot higher more higher in Q1 in 2008 compared
to the start of 2009. This shows that businesses were not manufacturing a lot of products and the
way in which the manufacturing decreased within a year. This also reflects the manufacturing
that Nissan UK did from 2008 to 2009 by making it go low because there wasn t a huge demand
for products. This also shows that the recession had just begun and was getting a lot worse in
2009. This must have had an impact on Nissan by making their employees lose their jobs
because there was less labour activity. In Q3 of 2009, the graph shows that there was progress
being made in the economy by showing recovery. The graph shows this in the way there is a
progress and this would have also impacted on Nissan

Eye witness testimonies are the evidence given in court or in police investigation by someone
who has witnessed a crime or an accident. Eye witness testimonies are affected by a number of
factors, but the one that I am going to focus on is anxiety. Laboratory studies and some real life
studies have generally shown impaired recall in people who have witnessed particularly distressing

Fast Food Nation Summary
Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All American Meal, is categorized into two categories, The
American Way, that examines the inauguration of the Fast Food Nation within the background of
post World War II in America and Meat and Potatoes. These two categories evaluate the
industrialization of fast food, along with the dangers of consuming meat, the chemical flavoring of
food, the working conditions of the meat industry, the global background of fast food, and the
production of cattle. The book introduces the McDonald s brothers and Carl N. Karcher which
investigate their performance as developers in the fast food industry in California. This results to

Eric Schlosser explains that the fast food industry advertises to the nation s young, using
marketing techniques devised by psychological consultants and kids focus groups. It fills
consumers stomachs with high fat, low nutrition foods and sodas that sport 8 10 teaspoons of
sugar each. Additionally, Eric Schlosser decides to make a stop in Colorado to scrutinize the
working conditions of fast food industry employees. Schlosser realizes that the fast food industry
is responsible for the wholesale exploitation of poor, uneducated, and for those who are the victims
of secret pricing by meat processors. Furthermore, Meat and Potatoes commences with the
examination of chemical ingredients that make the fast food consumed by many taste appetizing.
This information is followed by the struggles that an ordinary rancher faces in the field of
economy and agriculture. Schlosser is considered persuasive and provocative because he
denounces the meatpacking industry, which is considered a fatal job in America. Especially, due to
the way those cattle is slaughtered, raised and processed because it can provide Escherichia

Analyzing the Economic Development of France
France has a high level of economic development. The CIA World Factbook (2012) characterizes
the French economy as transitioning from an economy that featured extensive government
ownership and intervention to one that relies more on market mechanisms but cautions that the
effects of the Eurozone crisis are dampening progress of the French economy. France has a GDP of
$2.2 trillion, making it the 9th largest economy in the world. The GDP per capita is around
$35,000, which ranks 35th in the world, comparable with Japan and the United Kingdom, but
trailing several other major industrialized nations including the US. France has a strong industrial
sector but today is largely a 21st century service economy. The degree of economic development is
a strong influence on the decision to enter a country in the first place, and on the way that the
product is marketed once market entry has occurred. EduTot should focus international expansion
on nations that have a high degree of market potential. This means that the nation should have a
relatively large population, and a relatively high level of national income. French citizens can
generally afford to provide supplementary educational products and services for their children,
which makes France a viable target market for EduTot s international expansion. In addition, French
citizens are oriented towards making investments in their children s education, because such
investments will pay off in the future. This is because the French

Describe what you did.
This week we went a little bit more into the actual process of constructing an inverted index and
how to implement the handling of misspellings, the accuracy of retrievals based on context, and the
structures of resulting indexes for the purpose of searching them. For the discussion assignment, I
needed to cover the differences between BSBI and SPIMI. For our programming assignment, we
needed to make some alterations to a SPIMI python program to create an index and list of
documents.
Describe your reactions to what you did.
I found everything that we covered this week very interesting. While I appreciated the differences
between a BSBI and SPIMI, I m a little confused as to why you would use a BSBI except in
situations where there are some very specific hardware ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I am feeling pretty good about the class still. A lot of the techniques we are learning about for
efficient, accurate, and helpful searching of a corpus I find very interesting. I need to take some
more time to review the indexer Python code we were supplied so I feel completely comfortable
with how it is achieving the indexing.
Describe what you learned.
Particularly the handling of misspelled search terms or wildcard items was the thing that I feel like
I really took away from this week. Certainly, the index creation techniques were learned but I think
that to really strongly grasp those I just need to get more hands on experience with their
implementation. The things I learned about for managing search terms I feel like I could, at least
conceptually, immediately apply.
What surprised me or caused me to wonder?
I found the technique of the permuterm indexing especially of note. While it seems like it results in
a massive index it was interesting to think of how that could be applied along with other ideas to
mitigate human imperfections for searches.
What happened that felt particularly challenging? Why was it challenging to

Cynthia Whittaker s The Reforming Tsar
In The Reforming Tsar: The Redefinition of Autocratic Duty in Eighteenth пЂ Century Russia,
Cynthia Whittaker argues that depending on the historical, cultural and contextual period, there
can be demarcated two types, both distinctive and contrasting, of Russian sovereigns, namely the
good tsar and the reforming tsar . The scholar juxtaposes the two models of monarchs against the
backdrop of medieval versus modern type of governance. According to it the good tsar typology,
which is typical for the earlier Muscovy realm, defines the ruler as pious and inert, characterized
by its liturgical form and static nature of the rule. The good tsar is bound to uphold Orthodoxy,
preserve and control public order, help the poor and the underdogs... Show more content on

Nevertheless, despite the fact that I do not oppose to this assumption, I suggest that my analysis
on the changing nature of the Russian monarchs starts with a discussion of the rule of Ivan III,
whose image embodies some degree of ambivalence, before analyzing the two most illustrious
examples of reforming monarchs in the Russian history, namely Peter the Great and Ekaterina the
Great and elaborate on the reasons what impeded their successors from continuing the policy
orientation of their predecessors, and became even more inert. Therefore, the subsequent section
of the paper will first explore a couple of examples among the predecessors of Peter the Great,
who in my view, albeit not being explicitly labeled as reforming tsars , undoubtedly have
demonstrated some of the vital for a progressive ruler characteristics, then it will examine the two
most notable examples of visionary sovereigns in the Russian history, before concluding and briefly

Legalization Of Ilicit Drugs
Legalization of Illicit Drugs
The debate of the legalization of illicit drugs has been around for some time. It is a fairly wide
spectrum, with two varying opinions. While one side argues that illicit drugs should be legal, the
other side stick to the more conservative side of the spectrum and argues that illicit drugs should
remain illegal and have no place in our modern society. This paper will attempt to side with the

The Effects Of Different Nutrient Conditions On Plant...
Effects of different nutrient conditions on plant growth of wheat seeds
________________________________________
The objective of this investigation was to determine the effects of limiting nutrients on plant growth
in different treatment. Nutrient availability is an important factor in plant growth as it enhances the
processes taking place in the plants such as primary and secondary metabolic processes. In this
investigation, wheat plants were observed in different chemical treatments with limitations to
nutrients using statistical analysis. Students were required to scientifically determine whether or
not different nutrient conditions affected the overall plant growth over duration of time. The shoot
length and biomass of 20 random leaves grown in different chemical media s were measured and
this data was used to calculate statistical calculation such as the mean, standard deviation and t
value which was compared to the critical t value to determine whether or not the null hypothesis
was rejected. It was statistically calculated that the treatments that were nitrogen deficient and
phosphorus deficient had a p value greater than 0.05 and treatments that were water and potassium
deficient had a p value less than 0.05 in both the plants shoot length and biomass. This lead to the
conclusion that nitrogen deficient and phosphorus deficient treatments did have an effect on the
plant growth of wheat plants.

Challenges Of Learning English As A Second Language
There has always been a preconception that people who learn English as a second language are
somewhat less intelligent than people who learned it as their first language. Subconsciously some
people think that people who learn English as a second language don t have the ability to
understand the languagecompletely. Especially if they speak with an accent, a person tends to use
simple words to somewhat help that person understand. When in fact, people who learn English as

This shows one obstacle that many people have to face when learning English as a second
language: they often get taken advantage of because people seem to think that they don t
understand what s going on. As an immigrant, it is sometimes difficult to learn English even
after living in the U.S. for over fourteen years. It is more difficult for an adult to learn a new
language than for a child. I ve experienced this situation first hand. When moving to the U.S. my

easier for my brother and I to learn the English language because our brains weren t fully

more difficult, even though combined they knew more than six languages (Italian, Twi/Fante

Though both my parents learned some English in school, speaking it in the US was intimidating,
due to the fact that the way you pronounce words, can instantly label you as intelligent or

Pros And Cons Of Plant Reproduction System
1.0 Plant Reproduction System
Plant reproduction is the process of reproducing a certain species of plant continuing its existence.
A plant is made up of organs and cells that help it reproduce sexually or asexually. Both
reproduction methods having its advantages and disadvantages. 1.1 Plant Reproductive System
Organs
The reproduction system for plants consists of the anther, stigma and ovule. The image by Hans
Lambers (2016) shows that pollen is created through the stamen (anther (which is held up by a
filament). The pollen is then moved through wind, water or animal to the stigma of the plant part
of the pistil where the pollen germinates (The Parts of a Flower, n.d.). Which is then moved down
the pollen tube (inside the style) where it reaches the ovary and fertilizes the ovule and reproduce.
1.2 Plant Reproductive System Cells
Plant reproduction consists of two cells. The pollen grains contains male gametophytes (the male
sex cell) which is created through the process of meiosis (sex cell multiplying). On the other hand,
the ovule, which is held within the ovary, contains female gametophytes (the female sex cell) which
is also created through the process of meiosis.
2.0 Animal Reproductive System
Animal reproduction, like plant reproduction, is the process of creating a being with similar genes
to the parent animal to continue its race. An animal reproductive system is made up of cells and
organs depending on the sex of the animal, both meeting up to create a

Alfonso Cuaron s Use Of Symbolism In Children Of Men
Cinematic techniques play an essential part in a film s quest to create a particular effect or to
uncover a particular theme. The dystopian movie, Children of Men, directed by Alfonso Cuaron,
incorporates numerous symbols to convey a much broader meaning to its theme driven story line.
The symbols in the film play a significant role helping explain the two main underlying themes in
the film, which are hope and the coming of age. Without the use of the many symbols, it would be
difficult to understand the main themes the film is trying to explore. In this paper I argue how the
use of symbols bring a deeper meaning to the story by unveiling some important traits in the
characters. I also argue how symbolusage uncovers the themes of hope and the coming of age that
the film is exploring. The first symbol that Cuaron explores is one of a biblical reference. The main
character in the film, Theo, portrays many similarities to Jesus. One may not initially see this, but
after close analysis, it becomes very clear that spirituality is embedded in the storyline. During the
majority of the film, Theo is encompassed by weapons but remains peaceful and never resorts to
violence while protecting Kee throughout his journey. Also, animals surround Theo, which are a
symbol that is supposed to illustrate Theo s righteousness and integrity. This is shown in contrast to
the humans living in cages, illustrating the significant themeof hope that Theo represents. Arguably
the most powerful

over time. Factors like women education, infrastructures and technology have changed over time
to a modern state. There are factors that affect modernization such as social bonds decreases as a
society becomes modern; Cultural values and traditions that define a group is lost and the norms
become weaker; People turn to think for themselves and begin to deviate from societal norms and
might commit deviance. As a functionalist, society changes are like and an organism growing. As
time passes, the organism grows from a simple zygote with few cells that

The Current Pressurized Oxygen Tension Based Indices Response
In this thesis, I have attempted to further explore the nature of the current utilised oxygen tension
based indices response, with a view to its use as a tool to assess the pulmonary oxygenation in
critically ill patients. Furthermore, this thesis developed a new index to assess pulmonary
oxygenation. This topic was explored with external pulmonary factors to quantify oxygenation
defect through a maze of mathematics, different diseases, and pathophysiology. There was one or
two ways that could lead us to the answer and many dead end routes. Ultimately, the research
produced an equation that was more robust than the PaO2/FiO2 ratio in terms of less variation. The
first chapter described two different types of oxygen indices and its use. The second chapter
described the medical simulator in general and the Nottingham Physiology Simulator (NPS) in
particular. In chapter three, we examined the variation of certain oxygen indices with changes in the
following external physiological factors (FIO2, Hb, RQ, and VO2) without changing the pulmonary
configuration status. This investigation was done with ARDS simulated patients using a validated
NPS model. The study demonstrates that the external physiological factors induced a remarkable
variation in comparing to oxygen indices, and the use of each index depends on the type of the
external physiological factors. However, we conclude that clinicians should be aware of using the
best index according to patient s status. Accordingly,

Nectar in a Sieve by Markandaya
Bend like the grass, that you do not break. This quote, said by Nathan, shows that many characters
do not fight for what they believe in, but rather, they let it happen, and acquiesce in their difficult
situations. Nectar in a Sieve by Markandaya is a story about an Indian family living with
demanding situations and trying to obtain food for their children, all while dealing with foreigners
and a growing society. Numerous characters in the story acceptissues and events that they cannot
change. The characters attitudes towards acceptance and change is to endure it, and let the change
occur. The narrator, Rukmani, does not strive for what she believes in, instead, she lets the
influences and decisions of others control her life. A point in the story when Rukmani accepts
unavoidable circumstances, and does nothing to stop it, is when Kunthi blackmails Nathan into
giving her their rice (Markandaya 85). This shows that Rukmani does not fight for what she
believes in because she could have went looking for Kunthi to get her rice back, but she did not.
Therefore, Rukmani lets others control her. Another time in Nectar in a Sievewhen the protagonist
accepts changes that occur in her life is when Raja is killed (Markandaya 90). Two men come to
Rukmani s house, and they are subtly telling her not to sue them for the deathof her child. Instead of
suing the tannery for the premature death of her son, she simply concurred with the men that his

Human Nature And Human Nature In The Destructors
Human nature in the Destructors
The setting of the story happened in Blitzkrieg, London after World War II ended. The characters
that the story consists of are mainly teenage boys who had created a gang known as Wormsley
Common Gang. Their group continuously meets everyday beside the house of Mr. Thomas or Old
Misery. When they had to decided to make decisions for the gangit was made through voting. T or
(Trevor), the main character in the story, suggested that the gang should demolish Mr. Thomas
house on the upcoming holiday. Mr. Thomas was an old man, who lived in a house that solely
stand on an area that was bombed during the war. The group agreed and proceeded with their plan
under the leadership of T and which the story ended with the destruction of the house.
The story reflects action and adventure, since the gang would do things that can be considered as
daring, especially for their age. The story also has a mix of suspense, especially on the last part
wherein Mr. Thomas had gone back home earlier than expected. Nevertheless, the short storyis not
merely a fiction made to entertain its readers rather, it reflects the factual realities viewed during the
period it pertains such as delinquency, war and human nature. This essay would analyze the story in
connection to the delinquency and war which reveals human nature. Human nature would be
discussed as something that is subjective and relative to the perspective and position of the

I Am Madame X By Gioia Diliberto
I Am Madame X by Gioia Diliberto a novel of historical fiction, based loosely on the life of
Virginie Amelie Avegno Gautreau, otherwise known as Madame X, the infamous society matron
and subject of Sargent s sexually charged 1884 Parisian Salon entry. In the novel Virginie and
Pierre s marriage is a portrayal of what love is not. There are cases of infidelity, which seems
common in most marriages. What seems like love is only mere infatuation. People in this society
focus more on beauty and how being with that person will make their reputation better, more so
than the act of falling in love. The role of marriagethroughout the novel is used to empower as well
as sexualize women, which says a lot about their society. Written as... Show more content on

The Problem Of Tyranny
Tyranny Over All
The history of a country is usually deep and complex. This is the same for the United States. The
U.S history is very complex with lots of history, including the making of the U.S constitution. The
making of our rulebook was important because it fixed issues with the Article of Confederation.
But, we needed a way to fix the problem of Tyranny. And they did. I think the Governmentstopped
tyranny by Separating powers, checks and balances, and keeping Voting Amounts inline.
Separating powers was important to stopping tyranny. It stops the Central Government from
regulating in trade business. It stops them from saying STOP TRADE BECAUSE WE WANT
TO! . It also stops the States from starting wars. It stops them from saying WE

today. Even though these movies are a mixture of legends, fictions, and facts we can still appreciate
the meaning behind each story. Furthermore, this analysis will enhance East Asian s historical

In the film, we also observed that bowing is an important part of Japanese tradition. Kids learned
to bow from a very young age and they are taught the different kinds of bows. In Chihiro, we see
that her bowing varies according to the person she is meeting. For instance, when she meets
Kamaji, Zeniba and Yubaba her bows are deep and long. On the other hand, her bows towards
No face and the stick lamp are shorter and less deep. In this film, we can appreciate the
references made for new generations to appreciate and respect the culture they learned from
years. Even though this illustrated film shows fictional characters we can see how it connects
to modern Japan. The historical aspect of Japanese people is starting to fade like in the ending
of the movie when Haku learned by Chihiro that where he used to live people destroy the river to
construct apartment. Many of this Japanese tradition is being lost, according to Rachel Tackett in
an online article, spring of 2008 that number dropped to a mere 4,343, and it continues to

The World Bank Group And The Board Of Governors Of The...
In September 23, 2003, the World Bank Group and the Board of Governors of the International
Monetary Fund (IMF) meet in Dubai to discuss the work of their respective institutions in
international monetary and development issues. This meeting was worth its high expense when the
discussion were centered on these institutions own reform rather than on how they should intervene
in developing countries.
An examination of the record of IMF and World Bank performance in developing countries shows
that, far from being the solution to global economic instability and poverty, these two international
institutions are a major problem. For one thing, their lending practice deters growth because the
money they loan removes incentives for governments to advance economic freedom, and breeds
corruption. For these reasons, the vast majority of recipient countries have been unable to develop
fully after depending on these institutions for over 40 years.
In addition the Bush Administration needed to support reform of these institutions lending
practices. To that end, the Administration use the work of the congressionally mandated
International Financial Institutions Advisory Commission (IFIAC), chaired by Allan H. Meltzer of
Carnegie Mellon University, that establish a solid framework for reforming the IMF and the World
Bank. The reforms maximize their effectiveness, increase accountability for their lending decisions,
and limit their harmful influence in the developing world.

ASDA acquired and retained customers by providing a broad assortment of quality merchandise
and services at low prices. Wal Mart s Everyday Low Price policy (EDLP) had gained ASDA the
title of British best value supermarket for 7 successive years. In 2004, it offered around 25,000
lines of food and non food. ASDA, as all other subsidiaries of Wal Mart Stores Inc., was ruled by
three basic beliefs: respect for individuals, service to customers, and striving for excellence.
These rules were established by Sam Walton (1992). Walton also claimed that the success of
building the company could be pinned down into 10 rules that were still true for the company in

Brown Forman Case
1. Perform analysis on the historical financial statements of Brown Forman. Evaluate the financial
health of Brown Forman. Here you should perform ratio and trend analysis, along with creating
common sized financial statements. Assess the overall financial health of Brown Forman prior to
the proposed purchase of Southern Comfort. Brown Forman is a leading producer, marketer and
importer of wines and distilled spirits. The company was the fifth largest distiller in the United
States. However, the company s success will largely due to the massive amounts of advertising
expenditures on their premium brands. The company spent significantly less on low profit brands
and as a result the whiskey market declined. Their response was to move into faster growing
product lines to alcoholic beverages and this analysis considers a horizontal acquisition of the
Southern Comfort brand. There are many advantages that can be gained through this acquisition.
One is that the company developed a distinctive brand with loyal customers and a brand that is
growing faster than competitors in the same niche. Plus, liqueur found in the Southern Comfort
beverage does not need to age and can be produced and sold much faster than the traditional
whiskey line. Thus the company could use advertising to drive sales with the capacity to increase
production as needed. However, Brown Forman wants $94.6m for the company but the book value
in 1977 was $16.7m. Therefore, Southern Comfort

Symbolism In My Papa s Waltz By Theodore Roethke
In the poem My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke, the meaning of the piece varies on the readers`
perspective. Some think that this is one of happy memories between a son and father. Others think
that the waltz covers up the truth of child cruelty. In my opinion, the symbolism and the imagery in
My Papas Waltz gave me the automatic thoughtof the abusive relationship between the father and
son. But after investigating the poem I could begin to see the positive side.
After reading the first line of Roethke s piece, My Papas Waltz, I automatically assumed this poem
had negative meaning. The first couple lines state, The whiskey on your breath
Could make a small boy dizzy (Lines 1 2). Meaning the father has been drinking, and not just a
little. He was so drunk that even the smell of his breath could make his son, feel a bit light
headed. Alcohol makes people do crazy things so this could possibly give the father the idea and
the ability to harm the child. Because in most cases it is not a great situation when a drunken
adult presents himself to a child. This poem could be comprehended as a description of a young
boy s experience of abuse from his father. But I hang on like death seems to show a child s
frightful feeling from having to face a drunken father. The image in my head here is that of the
father and his child kitchen around the kitchen with the boy having to hold on like death because it
s a scary situation for the young boy. To emphasize the helplessness of the

We memorize items through what is known as the Information Processing Model, one of the many
models scientists use to interpret our memory. The Processing Model operates like a computer
where we receive an input for the result of an output. Our sensory memory is what commences the
Information Processing Model. Sensory memory is the temporary register of all the information
your senses are taking in , and each of the five senses endures for a certain amount of time (Khan
Academy). We have a total five senses, although the most studied amongst them are our haptic
memory (touch), our iconic memory (visual), and echoic memory (audio). When the information
lasts long enough, the sensory information then gets delivered to our working memory or
otherwise known as our short term memory. Working memory is just whatever you are thinking
about right at this . Our working memory can hold round and about 7 pieces of information at a
time although people with physiological ailments such as dementia greatly suffer in this area
making it hard for them to simply be attentive, recall instructions, etc. We use our working memory
in classrooms, working environment, etc. For example, when I read and try to comprehend a
passage during my reading or literature exam to answer the questions, I would simply be utilizing
my working memory. Our working memory processes information according to the type of input
that was initially received. Our working

The Importance Of Censorship Content On The Internet
With the rise of the Internet, it has given everyone opportunities to stay better connected in the
world today and to be entertained. This has led to the creation of sites like Facebook, Youtube,
Twitter, Reddit, Google, and so many more. A lot of big companies have implemented the internet,
making them more successful and giving them a wider reach for business. With all this freedom,
however, this leads to inappropriate content being on the internet as well. There is an abundance of
violent and sexual content on the internet just like with older media, like movies and music. The
difference is that this unsuitable content is more accessible than before the invention of the
internet. This has caused discussion about whether or not the internet should be censored, and if so,
to what extent. While it is understandable why people do not want inappropriate content around
them in a more accessible way, allowing the bad content lets the good content be just as accessible
as well. The Internet should not be censored for violent and sexual content because this silences
voices that have the right to be heard and slows creativity and originality in art and entertainment.
Additionally, silencing freedom of speechtakes voices away from the people and gives it to the
richest and powerful.
Censoring the Internet would be taking away freedom of speech for the average internet user. The
largest internet censorship system is in China, which censors anything harmless to the Chinese

I have used the term monotheistic several times already and feel the need to clarify exactly what is
meant when referring to it within the context of faith traditions. All Abrahamic religions aver to be
monotheistic, meaning that adherents worship an exclusive God. Although each religion knows
God by a different name Christianity maintaining the Germanic, God, and Muslims using the
Semitic, Allah both believe in a divine being that is capable of love, creation, and forgiveness but
also has the ability to punish, judge, and smite (Peters Esposito, 2006). Where differences and
religious conflicts arise however is with Christianity s Trinitarian belief system. The three
consubstantial expressions of God, including the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, are
fundamental aspects of faith for the vast majority of Christian denominations but nevertheless
conflicts with the Islamic concept of monotheism. While this is an example of a difference in
religious opinions rather than a similarity, it is important to understand and allows an opportunity
for me to offer my own brief perspective on the matter. Without digressing too much from the topic

The Knowledge Of God s Existence And Fundamental...
Using solely reason, we can obtain genuine knowledge about God s existence and fundamental
characteristics. Although the more complete knowledge of God unveiled in revelation cannot be
strictly proven through the use of reason, this knowledge is consistent with that which we have
come to know through reason. Therefore, it is entirely reasonable to hold the Catholic narrative of
God as truth.
Modern society, however, insists that only what is proven through science is worth believing. This
attitude stems from the belief that the scientific method employed in science is the only clear cut
method for determining truth. This is why renowned physicist Stephen Hawking s scientific
explanation for the complexity and origin of the universe is well respected by many. Hawking s
Scientific Determinism supposes that we are in fact biological machines whose decisions are
determined by the chemical reactions that occur within the body, thus eliminating the concept of
free will. Furthermore, Scientific Determinism effectively removes God from the picture by
insisting that scientific laws cannot be laws if [they] only hold when some supernatural being
decides not to intervene. Hawking s theory is supposed to be trustworthy because it relies on the
scientific method of determining causes and their effects. However, this viewpoint, as scientific as
it may seem, fails to provide multiple causes or explanations to critical questions. As Thomas Nagel
points out, Hawking fails to

your deepest fantasies for pleasure, then how can you expect them to participate in your deepest

What Are The Similarities Between Inanna Queen Of Heaven...
When comparing the film with different texts that we have read, Death was served as a gateway
to the other realms. For example, in Inanna: Queen of Heaven and Earth , Inanna goes to the
underworld to visit her sister, Queen Ereshkigal. The Queen who despises Inanna has her servants
torture her as she goes through each layer. After going through a series of gates in the underworld,
she was stripped off each part of her clothes one by one and was later chained and tortured in hell
from the evil creatures that dwell underneath in the mountain. In each gate, not only were different
punishments carried out but Inanna was walking through darkness and seeing less of the light.
When relating to the film, the other world has a stairway that shows

The Impact Of Residential Schools On Aboriginal People
This paper revealed the impact of residential schools on the Aboriginal people of Canada. If one
does not expect to find education as a tool for assimilation and colonization, indeed you expect to
find abuse as a way of assimilation. This paper argued that although there was an apology if Canada
continues to discriminate against the Aboriginal people reconciliation is not a factor. It is evident
that the Canada government obviously want to stop the Aboriginal people s culture, language, and
spirituality. They look at the Aboriginal people as inferior to take care of their children. It was
clear that the Aboriginal children were forcefully collected from their parent to be under abuse all
in the name of assimilation. It is no doubt that

Criteria For Social Anxiety
I would ask Allie to rate her anxiety on a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being no anxiety and 10 being a
panic attack.
Allie meets the DSM 5 2013 Criteria for Social Anxiety; therefore, it cannot be ruled out at this
time. The clinical picture portrays an adolescent female that has few friends, has difficulty
participating in classroom activities, persistent fear, especially when called upon to answer a
question or work in a group. She avoids social interaction where she may have to perform in front
of others. Allie s social impairment is associated with a dysphoric mood, she often feels uneasy and
sad. Allie s symptoms of anxiety began around the age 9 or 10 due to being bullied in school and
has progressively worsened over the last 4 to 5 years. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The feared situations are avoided or else are endured with intense anxiety and distress.
The avoidance, anxious anticipation, or distress in the feared social or performance situation(s)
interferes significantly with the person s normal routine, (academic) functioning, or social activities
or relationships, or there is marked distress about having the phobia. Allie is missing school.
The fear, anxiety, or avoidance is persistent, typically lasting 6 or more months.
The fear or avoidance is not due to direct physiological effects of a substance (e.g., drugs,
medications) or a general medical condition not better accounted for by another mental disorder

United States Government Expansion Essay
In the last century and a half, the United States Government has grown significantly in size, scope,
and influence. There are many contributing factors to this expansion. The quest for civil rights,
presidential programs and how those programs affected domestic policy, and the foreign policies
that were a result of imperialism, nationalism, and the many conflicts that the nation became
involved in were the biggest catalysts attributing to this progressive development in the government.
These effects have shaped the government from the vision of the Founding Fathers into what it is
today. The expansion of the government s power, particularly the Executive Branch, has its roots in
Progressivism. Based on the ideas of philosophers like... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
US protection from Asian countries and the need for a Pacific base were the reasons for getting
Hawaii. Both of these acquisitions would become a huge part of foreign policy and the need for
an expanded government in the coming years. As imperialism extended the country s power and
influence through diplomacy and military might, the policy of non intervention would quickly
become outdated. Due to Britain and France running out of men, money, and material, the US
had to get involved in World War I. This involvement brought about numerous new policies and
activities by the government. The War Industries Board, Food Administration, Railway Board,
and the US Shipping Board came to be. Railroads were nationalized and two new laws, the
Espionage Act of 1917 and the Sedition Act of 1918, were put into effect as a result of US
involvement in the war. Hawaii would become a key part of World War II with the bombing of
Pearl Harbor. One of the Cold War battlefields was Alaska. Due to the Truman Doctrine and its
policy of containing communism, the US gor involved in Korea and later, Vietnam. Domestic
policy changes, also tied to Progressivism, were a major component of the expansion of the size,
scope, and influence of the US government. Roosevelt s Square Deal caused the government to
grow because he wanted the government to regulate business and get more involved in the
American economy. Under Taft,

Gender Roles In John Steinbeck s The Grapes Of Wrath
The Grapes of Wrath written by John Steinbeck is an award winning classic that displays the
struggles that the Joad family must face on their way to California from Oklahoma. Paired with
non Joad chapters, the novel reveals the harsh truth on how society does not welcome people from
Oklahoma and how other people must face the struggles of the 1930 s. The Joads must make the
perilous route to California due to the Dust Bowland the Depression that has struck. What they
believe will an an all American dream, is actually a nightmare that the Joads must face. Although
Grapes of Wrath is portrayed as an American classic, in reality it s a radical novel that depicts
discrimination, the reversal of gender roles, and the harsh struggles of a family... Show more content

Pa being the head of the family, illustrates a patriarchal rule, but once crisis strikes the family Ma
steps up from her position and begins to lead the family, Tom tells his ma you never was like this
before! Ma responds by saying I never had my house pushed over, I never had my fambly stuck
out on the road. I never had to sell everything (Steinbeck). Ma has never had to be tough before.
She was the typical lovable caring wife and mother, but a sudden turn in events unleashes a
wave of sturdiness from her. Pa become weak, his grip on the family slowly began to loosen. Pa
was no longer the demanding man who no longer gave orders but rather received them. Ma is a
symbol of strength and presurvience who will not step down from a challenge. She, like many
other women are changing the expectations for gender roles leading to the broad encouragement
for females to break down barriers (Berlatsky). Females are told that they can exceed the gender
roles that society throws at them. They are taught to break through such obstacles and come out
winning. Ma was not given directions on how to end strong. On her own, she managed to keep
the family going while overcoming obstacles. Rose of Sharon is another character who rises
above the gender roles, she is emphasized as a gender role reversal that can be seen in Steinbeck
s characterization... Her change from an immature young woman to the embodiment of hope and
survival (The Grapes). Rose of sharon has not only failed at a woman s gender role of child
bearing, but she has endured the abandonment of Connie and her loss of dignity to save the old
man from near death. She has had to stay strong for her family and for herself. These two women
have given rise to the reversal of gender

The Effect Of Mir200 Family On Human Primary ATII Cell...
Research strategy
Specific Aim #1. To determine the effect of miR200 family on human primary ATII cell biology
and lung regeneration in IPF.
Hypothesis: We hypothesize that miR200 family will stimulate ATII cell proliferation and
transdifferentation to alveolar type I cells and will inhibit a fibrogenic activity of pulmonary
fibroblasts in IPF leading to lung regeneration.
Rationale:
ATII cells have stem potential and can differentiate to alveolar type I cells (3). Senescence of ATII
cells is implicated in the pathogenesis of IPF, a progressive fatal lung disorder with unknown
etiology (5). A current disease paradigm is that lung fibrosis develops as a result of unremitting
insults with genetic and aging related risk factors. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We already isolated ATII cells from human lung and cultured them using methods previously
described in the literature (7). We can also transdifferentiate ATII cells to alveolar type I cells
(Fig. 2). We found decreased ability of ATII cells isolated from IPF patients to transdifferentiate
to alveolar type I cells compared to controls. To our knowledge, this experiment has not been
performed using ATII cells obtained from individuals with IPF or other lung diseases.
Moreover, we also observed lower levels of aquaporin 5, which is a marker of alveolar type I cells
(Fig. 2). These preliminary data indicate the feasibility of proposed experiments in this application.
Our results suggest the impaired ability of ATII cells to transdifferentiate to alveolar type I cells in
IPF.
1.1. To determine the potential of ATII cells to transdifferentiate to alveolar type I cells in IPF.
In this SA, we will determine pro SPC (pro surfactant protein C), SPC (surfactant protein C), SP A
(surfactant protein A), SP D (surfactant protein D) and pro SPB (pro surfactant protein B)
expression, which are markers of ATII cells in freshly isolated cells from controls and patients with
IPF by western blotting and immunocytofluorescence. We will also culture ATII cells obtained from
controls and individuals with IPF to compare their phenotype in vitro using electron microscopy.

Film Theory Aesthetics Of The Music Video Died For...
пїјDavid Burtle Northumbria University DE1209

29 April 2016
Film Theory Aesthetics
In this essay I will be deconstructing stills from the music video, Died for Love, created for The
Unthanks within the module DE1194 and providing evidence on how it corresponds to existing
film theory. The music video shows the final moments in the life of housewife, Evelyn Raines, as
she struggles with the advancement of technology within 1969. The film explores themes of loss
and isolation as she prepares herself for death.
I will analyse the stills relating both to the abstract art form and also images that focus on realism,
showing how the piece uses multiple film methods to create and enhance the music video s
narrative whilst also discussing the meaning within the imagery and how specific techniques were
used to convey a certain message or emotion. Through the imagery, specific focuses will be made
relating to the cinematography, the use of colour and the intention of the shot, this will then be
expanded into how this is relatable with earlier and modern forms of cinema. I will also discuss
how the images have similarities to avant garde and surrealist films and whether animated
characters can relate to live action performances within film.

  • 2. Notes On Buffalo Wild Wings Buffalo Wild Wings Buffalo Wild Wings first opened their doors in 1982 with one restaurant in Columbus, Ohio and has grown into a popular, mainstream restaurant with a store in every state in the United States. They have even begun to open up stores around the world. Their slogan is Wings. Beer. Sports. This restaurant prides itself on being the ultimate place to gather with friends to grab some excellent wings, drink one of their many beers on tap, and watch sports. (About Buffalo Wild Wings. (n.d.).) Service Theater Framework The service experience includes four different aspects that must be understood before analyzing the experience: services setting, the service workers, the service customers, and the service process. The service setting is where the action or service performance unfolds (Fisk et al, 2014, p. 26). The setting can also be what the customer is unable to see (backstage). The service workers are those who work together to create the service for the customers including the seen and unseen. The service customers are the person, group, or organization receiving the service. Finally, the service process is the series of events during the service received (Fisk et al, 2014, p. 26). Service Issues The hype for Buffalo Wild Wings coming to Kearney was unsurpassed. I was just as excited to try this new venue as the rest of the town, even though I had been to other Buffalo Wild Wings around Nebraska. Unfortunately, my excitement was hindered by disappointment ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Bush Pilots Essay In the early years of flying the bush pilots were an essential growth mechanism for northern communities. In time of distress they were there to provide the three core emergency services. The bush pilots served as air ambulances, firefighters and as a tool for policing. One of the other core functions was transportation and a communication conduit to communities where in some places dog sleds were the primary form of transportation. Earlier bush planes utilized aerial survey techniques that were used in developing some of the first reliable maps. It could be said that both the communities and especially the resources were exploited with use of earlier period planes. This was clearly far outweighed by the need for the most basic and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With time being the most critical element in of providing proper medical care in the years following the Great War air ambulances were in high demand. It was also essential to have doctors come in to remote communities for preventative care. The early pilots helped police as aerial scouts and also as a means of reaching communities when they needed the Mounties help fast. There are stories of pilots like Wop May first scouting for the RCMP to find their fleeing suspect. Reportedly Wop May then quickly extracted an injured Mountie saving his life. In that situation before early airplanes it could have been days before the mountie received medical assistance which would have unfortunately resulted most likely in a fatality. The final emergency role was early firefighting which used airplanes for scouting and later on for water bombing. As shown many critical roles were performed by early planes and the daring pilots that flew them. This made for outlying communities which saved many lives. As beasts of burden the early airplanes excelled. From the time they carried their first large loads of cargo and mail they illustrated how quickly and easily large freight loads could be brought in to remote regions. There were so few methods of transportation that could easily deliver more than one hundred pounds of cargo if there was no water or road access. It was certainly clear from the first cargo flights that aviation would be the preferred method of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Filial Piety In The Good Earth By Pearl S. Buck In this day and age, if you were abused as a child by your family members it is more socially acceptable to leave your family entirely behind as soon as you turn eighteen, or even before that point. Back in China during and before the time of the Chinese Revolution, this was not the case. In The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck, Buck demonstrates the bind of filial pietythrough the depiction of Wang Lung and his uncle. Since the time of the Chinese Revolution, the dynamics of a familyhave changed in a positive way because people are beginning to not be bonded to their family on the basis of filial piety. In The Good Earth, main character Wang Lung is bound to his uncle because of filial piety. Wang Lung s uncle is a lazy and imposed upon Wang Lung and his family throughout the novel, continuously using Wang Lung s duty of filial piety to silence him. This passage from the novel sums up Wang Lung s experience with his uncle. Wang Lung s Uncle began at this time to become the trouble which Wang Lung had surmised from the beginning that he might be. This uncle was the younger brother of Wang Lung s father, and by all the claims of relationship he might depend upon Wang Lung if he had not enough for himself and his family (59). • 13. Analyzing the Economic Development of France France has a high level of economic development. The CIA World Factbook (2012) characterizes the French economy as transitioning from an economy that featured extensive government ownership and intervention to one that relies more on market mechanisms but cautions that the effects of the Eurozone crisis are dampening progress of the French economy. France has a GDP of $2.2 trillion, making it the 9th largest economy in the world. The GDP per capita is around $35,000, which ranks 35th in the world, comparable with Japan and the United Kingdom, but trailing several other major industrialized nations including the US. France has a strong industrial sector but today is largely a 21st century service economy. The degree of economic development is a strong influence on the decision to enter a country in the first place, and on the way that the product is marketed once market entry has occurred. EduTot should focus international expansion on nations that have a high degree of market potential. This means that the nation should have a relatively large population, and a relatively high level of national income. French citizens can generally afford to provide supplementary educational products and services for their children, which makes France a viable target market for EduTot s international expansion. In addition, French citizens are oriented towards making investments in their children s education, because such investments will pay off in the future. This is because the French ... Effects of different nutrient conditions on plant growth of wheat seeds ________________________________________ The objective of this investigation was to determine the effects of limiting nutrients on plant growth in different treatment. Nutrient availability is an important factor in plant growth as it enhances the processes taking place in the plants such as primary and secondary metabolic processes. In this investigation, wheat plants were observed in different chemical treatments with limitations to nutrients using statistical analysis. Students were required to scientifically determine whether or not different nutrient conditions affected the overall plant growth over duration of time. The shoot length and biomass of 20 random leaves grown in different chemical media s were measured and this data was used to calculate statistical calculation such as the mean, standard deviation and t value which was compared to the critical t value to determine whether or not the null hypothesis was rejected. It was statistically calculated that the treatments that were nitrogen deficient and phosphorus deficient had a p value greater than 0.05 and treatments that were water and potassium deficient had a p value less than 0.05 in both the plants shoot length and biomass. This lead to the conclusion that nitrogen deficient and phosphorus deficient treatments did have an effect on the plant growth of wheat plants. A plant is made up of organs and cells that help it reproduce sexually or asexually. Both reproduction methods having its advantages and disadvantages. 1.1 Plant Reproductive System Organs The reproduction system for plants consists of the anther, stigma and ovule. The image by Hans Lambers (2016) shows that pollen is created through the stamen (anther (which is held up by a filament). The pollen is then moved through wind, water or animal to the stigma of the plant part of the pistil where the pollen germinates (The Parts of a Flower, n.d.). Which is then moved down the pollen tube (inside the style) where it reaches the ovary and fertilizes the ovule and reproduce. 1.2 Plant Reproductive System Cells Plant reproduction consists of two cells. The pollen grains contains male gametophytes (the male sex cell) which is created through the process of meiosis (sex cell multiplying). On the other hand, the ovule, which is held within the ovary, contains female gametophytes (the female sex cell) which is also created through the process of meiosis. 2.0 Animal Reproductive System Animal reproduction, like plant reproduction, is the process of creating a being with similar genes to the parent animal to continue its race. • 21. Alfonso Cuaron s Use Of Symbolism In Children Of Men Cinematic techniques play an essential part in a film s quest to create a particular effect or to uncover a particular theme. The dystopian movie, Children of Men, directed by Alfonso Cuaron, incorporates numerous symbols to convey a much broader meaning to its theme driven story line. The symbols in the film play a significant role helping explain the two main underlying themes in the film, which are hope and the coming of age. Without the use of the many symbols, it would be difficult to understand the main themes the film is trying to explore. In this paper I argue how the use of symbols bring a deeper meaning to the story by unveiling some important traits in the characters. I also argue how symbolusage uncovers the themes of hope and the coming of age that the film is exploring. The first symbol that Cuaron explores is one of a biblical reference. The main character in the film, Theo, portrays many similarities to Jesus. One may not initially see this, but after close analysis, it becomes very clear that spirituality is embedded in the storyline. During the majority of the film, Theo is encompassed by weapons but remains peaceful and never resorts to violence while protecting Kee throughout his journey. Also, animals surround Theo, which are a symbol that is supposed to illustrate Theo s righteousness and integrity. This is shown in contrast to the humans living in cages, illustrating the significant themeof hope that Theo represents. Arguably the most powerful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. The Current Pressurized Oxygen Tension Based Indices Response In this thesis, I have attempted to further explore the nature of the current utilised oxygen tension based indices response, with a view to its use as a tool to assess the pulmonary oxygenation in critically ill patients. Furthermore, this thesis developed a new index to assess pulmonary oxygenation. This topic was explored with external pulmonary factors to quantify oxygenation defect through a maze of mathematics, different diseases, and pathophysiology. There was one or two ways that could lead us to the answer and many dead end routes. Ultimately, the research produced an equation that was more robust than the PaO2/FiO2 ratio in terms of less variation. The first chapter described two different types of oxygen indices and its use. The second chapter described the medical simulator in general and the Nottingham Physiology Simulator (NPS) in particular. In chapter three, we examined the variation of certain oxygen indices with changes in the following external physiological factors (FIO2, Hb, RQ, and VO2) without changing the pulmonary configuration status. This investigation was done with ARDS simulated patients using a validated NPS model. The study demonstrates that the external physiological factors induced a remarkable variation in comparing to oxygen indices, and the use of each index depends on the type of the external physiological factors. However, we conclude that clinicians should be aware of using the best index according to patient s status. Accordingly, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This quote, said by Nathan, shows that many characters do not fight for what they believe in, but rather, they let it happen, and acquiesce in their difficult situations. Nectar in a Sieve by Markandaya is a story about an Indian family living with demanding situations and trying to obtain food for their children, all while dealing with foreigners and a growing society. Numerous characters in the story acceptissues and events that they cannot change. The characters attitudes towards acceptance and change is to endure it, and let the change occur. The narrator, Rukmani, does not strive for what she believes in, instead, she lets the influences and decisions of others control her life. A point in the story when Rukmani accepts unavoidable circumstances, and does nothing to stop it, is when Kunthi blackmails Nathan into giving her their rice (Markandaya 85). This shows that Rukmani does not fight for what she believes in because she could have went looking for Kunthi to get her rice back, but she did not. Therefore, Rukmani lets others control her. Another time in Nectar in a Sievewhen the protagonist accepts changes that occur in her life is when Raja is killed (Markandaya 90). In September 23, 2003, the World Bank Group and the Board of Governors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) meet in Dubai to discuss the work of their respective institutions in international monetary and development issues. This meeting was worth its high expense when the discussion were centered on these institutions own reform rather than on how they should intervene in developing countries. An examination of the record of IMF and World Bank performance in developing countries shows that, far from being the solution to global economic instability and poverty, these two international institutions are a major problem. For one thing, their lending practice deters growth because the money they loan removes incentives for governments to advance economic freedom, and breeds corruption. For these reasons, the vast majority of recipient countries have been unable to develop fully after depending on these institutions for over 40 years. In addition the Bush Administration needed to support reform of these institutions lending practices. To that end, the Administration use the work of the congressionally mandated International Financial Institutions Advisory Commission (IFIAC), chaired by Allan H. The company spent significantly less on low profit brands and as a result the whiskey market declined. Their response was to move into faster growing product lines to alcoholic beverages and this analysis considers a horizontal acquisition of the Southern Comfort brand. There are many advantages that can be gained through this acquisition. One is that the company developed a distinctive brand with loyal customers and a brand that is growing faster than competitors in the same niche. Plus, liqueur found in the Southern Comfort beverage does not need to age and can be produced and sold much faster than the traditional whiskey line. In my opinion, the symbolism and the imagery in My Papas Waltz gave me the automatic thoughtof the abusive relationship between the father and son. But after investigating the poem I could begin to see the positive side. After reading the first line of Roethke s piece, My Papas Waltz, I automatically assumed this poem had negative meaning. The first couple lines state, The whiskey on your breath Could make a small boy dizzy (Lines 1 2). Meaning the father has been drinking, and not just a little. He was so drunk that even the smell of his breath could make his son, feel a bit light headed. Alcohol makes people do crazy things so this could possibly give the father the idea and the ability to harm the child. Because in most cases it is not a great situation when a drunken adult presents himself to a child. This poem could be comprehended as a description of a young boy s experience of abuse from his father. But I hang on like death seems to show a child s frightful feeling from having to face a drunken father. Although the more complete knowledge of God unveiled in revelation cannot be strictly proven through the use of reason, this knowledge is consistent with that which we have come to know through reason. Therefore, it is entirely reasonable to hold the Catholic narrative of God as truth. Modern society, however, insists that only what is proven through science is worth believing. This attitude stems from the belief that the scientific method employed in science is the only clear cut method for determining truth. This is why renowned physicist Stephen Hawking s scientific explanation for the complexity and origin of the universe is well respected by many. Hawking s Scientific Determinism supposes that we are in fact biological machines whose decisions are determined by the chemical reactions that occur within the body, thus eliminating the concept of free will. Furthermore, Scientific Determinism effectively removes God from the picture by insisting that scientific laws cannot be laws if [they] only hold when some supernatural being decides not to intervene. • 43. What Are The Similarities Between Inanna Queen Of Heaven... When comparing the film with different texts that we have read, Death was served as a gateway to the other realms. For example, in Inanna: Queen of Heaven and Earth , Inanna goes to the underworld to visit her sister, Queen Ereshkigal. The Queen who despises Inanna has her servants torture her as she goes through each layer. After going through a series of gates in the underworld, she was stripped off each part of her clothes one by one and was later chained and tortured in hell from the evil creatures that dwell underneath in the mountain. In each gate, not only were different punishments carried out but Inanna was walking through darkness and seeing less of the light. When relating to the film, the other world has a stairway that shows ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Impact Of Residential Schools On Aboriginal People This paper revealed the impact of residential schools on the Aboriginal people of Canada. If one does not expect to find education as a tool for assimilation and colonization, indeed you expect to find abuse as a way of assimilation. This paper argued that although there was an apology if Canada continues to discriminate against the Aboriginal people reconciliation is not a factor. It is evident that the Canada government obviously want to stop the Aboriginal people s culture, language, and spirituality. They look at the Aboriginal people as inferior to take care of their children. It was clear that the Aboriginal children were forcefully collected from their parent to be under abuse all in the name of assimilation. It is no doubt that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. United States Government Expansion Essay In the last century and a half, the United States Government has grown significantly in size, scope, and influence. There are many contributing factors to this expansion. The quest for civil rights, presidential programs and how those programs affected domestic policy, and the foreign policies that were a result of imperialism, nationalism, and the many conflicts that the nation became involved in were the biggest catalysts attributing to this progressive development in the government. These effects have shaped the government from the vision of the Founding Fathers into what it is today. The expansion of the government s power, particularly the Executive Branch, has its roots in Progressivism. Based on the ideas of philosophers like... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... US protection from Asian countries and the need for a Pacific base were the reasons for getting Hawaii. Both of these acquisitions would become a huge part of foreign policy and the need for an expanded government in the coming years. As imperialism extended the country s power and influence through diplomacy and military might, the policy of non intervention would quickly become outdated. Due to Britain and France running out of men, money, and material, the US had to get involved in World War I. This involvement brought about numerous new policies and activities by the government. The War Industries Board, Food Administration, Railway Board, and the US Shipping Board came to be. Railroads were nationalized and two new laws, the Espionage Act of 1917 and the Sedition Act of 1918, were put into effect as a result of US involvement in the war. Hawaii would become a key part of World War II with the bombing of Pearl Harbor. One of the Cold War battlefields was Alaska. Due to the Truman Doctrine and its policy of containing communism, the US gor involved in Korea and later, Vietnam. Domestic policy changes, also tied to Progressivism, were a major component of the expansion of the size, scope, and influence of the US government. Roosevelt s Square Deal caused the government to grow because he wanted the government to regulate business and get more involved in the American economy. Under Taft, ... • 47. Gender Roles In John Steinbeck s The Grapes Of Wrath The Grapes of Wrath written by John Steinbeck is an award winning classic that displays the struggles that the Joad family must face on their way to California from Oklahoma. Paired with non Joad chapters, the novel reveals the harsh truth on how society does not welcome people from Oklahoma and how other people must face the struggles of the 1930 s. The Joads must make the perilous route to California due to the Dust Bowland the Depression that has struck. What they believe will an an all American dream, is actually a nightmare that the Joads must face. Although Grapes of Wrath is portrayed as an American classic, in reality it s a radical novel that depicts discrimination, the reversal of gender roles, and the harsh struggles of a family... Pa being the head of the family, illustrates a patriarchal rule, but once crisis strikes the family Ma steps up from her position and begins to lead the family, Tom tells his ma you never was like this before! Ma responds by saying I never had my house pushed over, I never had my fambly stuck out on the road. I never had to sell everything (Steinbeck). Ma has never had to be tough before. She was the typical lovable caring wife and mother, but a sudden turn in events unleashes a wave of sturdiness from her. Pa become weak, his grip on the family slowly began to loosen. Pa was no longer the demanding man who no longer gave orders but rather received them. Ma is a symbol of strength and presurvience who will not step down from a challenge. She, like many other women are changing the expectations for gender roles leading to the broad encouragement for females to break down barriers (Berlatsky). Females are told that they can exceed the gender roles that society throws at them. They are taught to break through such obstacles and come out winning. Ma was not given directions on how to end strong. On her own, she managed to keep the family going while overcoming obstacles. Rose of Sharon is another character who rises above the gender roles, she is emphasized as a gender role reversal that can be seen in Steinbeck s characterization... Her change from an immature young woman to the embodiment of hope and survival (The Grapes). Rose of sharon has not only failed at a woman s gender role of child bearing, but she has endured the abandonment of Connie and her loss of dignity to save the old man from near death. • 48. The Effect Of Mir200 Family On Human Primary ATII Cell... Research strategy Specific Aim #1. To determine the effect of miR200 family on human primary ATII cell biology and lung regeneration in IPF. Hypothesis: We hypothesize that miR200 family will stimulate ATII cell proliferation and transdifferentation to alveolar type I cells and will inhibit a fibrogenic activity of pulmonary fibroblasts in IPF leading to lung regeneration. Rationale: ATII cells have stem potential and can differentiate to alveolar type I cells (3). Senescence of ATII cells is implicated in the pathogenesis of IPF, a progressive fatal lung disorder with unknown etiology (5). A current disease paradigm is that lung fibrosis develops as a result of unremitting insults with genetic and aging related risk factors. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We already isolated ATII cells from human lung and cultured them using methods previously described in the literature (7). We can also transdifferentiate ATII cells to alveolar type I cells (Fig. 2). We found decreased ability of ATII cells isolated from IPF patients to transdifferentiate to alveolar type I cells compared to controls. To our knowledge, this experiment has not been performed using ATII cells obtained from individuals with IPF or other lung diseases. Moreover, we also observed lower levels of aquaporin 5, which is a marker of alveolar type I cells (Fig. 2). These preliminary data indicate the feasibility of proposed experiments in this application. Our results suggest the impaired ability of ATII cells to transdifferentiate to alveolar type I cells in IPF. 1.1. To determine the potential of ATII cells to transdifferentiate to alveolar type I cells in IPF. In this SA, we will determine pro SPC (pro surfactant protein C), SPC (surfactant protein C), SP A (surfactant protein A), SP D (surfactant protein D) and pro SPB (pro surfactant protein B) expression, which are markers of ATII cells in freshly isolated cells from controls and patients with IPF by western blotting and immunocytofluorescence. We will also culture ATII cells obtained from controls and individuals with IPF to compare their phenotype in vitro using electron microscopy. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Film Theory Aesthetics Of The Music Video Died For... пїјDavid Burtle Northumbria University DE1209 James Leggott 29 April 2016 Film Theory Aesthetics In this essay I will be deconstructing stills from the music video, Died for Love, created for The Unthanks within the module DE1194 and providing evidence on how it corresponds to existing film theory. The music video shows the final moments in the life of housewife, Evelyn Raines, as she struggles with the advancement of technology within 1969. The film explores themes of loss and isolation as she prepares herself for death. I will analyse the stills relating both to the abstract art form and also images that focus on realism, showing how the piece uses multiple film methods to create and enhance the music video s narrative whilst also discussing the meaning within the imagery and how specific techniques were used to convey a certain message or emotion. Through the imagery, specific focuses will be made relating to the cinematography, the use of colour and the intention of the shot, this will then be expanded into how this is relatable with earlier and modern forms of cinema. I will also discuss how the images have similarities to avant garde and surrealist films and whether animated characters can relate to live action performances within film.
