Essay on Biography of Karl Marx
Biography of Karl Marx Only in the course of the world s history can a person born over a hundred
years ago be as famous today as they were back then. Karl Marx is one person that fits this category.
He paved the way for people of the same political background as his own. Marx s ideas were unique
and started uproar all over Europe. Marx helped write the Communist Manifesto one of the most
important pieces of literature on Communism ever written. At one time people feared Communism as
a power, which prompted Marx to write the Communist Manifesto and explain his ideas. How
Communism should be used as type of government. He was seen as kind of an outlaw, having to move

The Baron introduced him into Romantic literature and Saint Simonian. Marx s dad sent him to the
University of Berlin for four years. While in Berlin he traded in his views of Romanticism to views of
the Hegelianism, which ruled Berlin at this point in history. When Marx s college career was cut short
by the opposition of the Prussian Government he moved to journalism. Marx became the editor of the
Rheinische Zeitung a liberal newspaper in Cologne, Germany in 1842. His views on economic
questions made the Prussian Government uncomfortable and they closed the paper. This is where
Marx first got his ideas of how classes make life harsh for certain people and the only way to fix this
is to eliminate classes all together. After that Marx moved to France, where in a few months he
became a communist. He developed his ideas in his writings, which he titled Economic and
Philosophical Manuscripts. It was in Paris that Marx met his partner for life Friedrich Engel s. Both of
them moved to Brussels, and visited Engel s family in England from time to time. During his time
here he wrote The German Ideology for which he had studied history intensely to come up with a
materialistic view of history. In the German Ideology Marx said, The nature of individuals depends on
the material conditions determining their production. . This was his thesis for the German Ideology,
which is the same as all of his others, the idea that class and

Women= Objects in Ads
What does a naked woman have to do in a men s cologne advertisement? Well the adver tisement
companies think that sex sells. When women is objectified, they are being degraded of their character
as a human. These days young women especially, they are being objectified to sell goods and services
using their looks and not their knowledge. In the article Objectification of Women in Entertainment
Media by Jon Barber, explains how the objectification of women in society is a trend that is
developing in the entertainment of media today. Barber points out it is specifically in movies, music
videos, music, television, and in the advertisement industries there is strong focus on women as sexual
objects rather than women. What Barber is saying it is true; an example of this is one of the Tom Ford
Ad (see image below). What is a men s fragrance cologne doing in between a woman s breasts?
Barber goes on to say that the media is creating social stereotypes for both men and women that can
result in un healthy social and physical habits which is catastrophic to society. (Barber par 1) This is
unfor tunate; there is no escape from these Ads, because the average of advertisements being watched
by a woman is about 400 to 600 per day. (Qtd. In Effects on Women)
Why is advertisement that amplifies objectification of women bad? A report by the American
Psychological Association says

The Issue Of School Finance
School finance has been a contentious issue around the country due to the amount of money that is
required to provide a public education to all children. Exacerbating the issue is the fact that there is no
uniformity across each state because the federal government does not have any clause within the U.S.
Constitution that requires a funding of public education. Providing education is simply relegated to
each state under the 10th amendment (Russo, 2016). Ohio State Constitution Article VI: The General
Assembly shall make such provisions, by taxation, or otherwise, as, with the income arising from the
school trust fund, will secure a thorough and efficient system of common schools throughout the state;
but no religious or other sect, or sects, shall ever have any exclusive right to, or control of, any part of
the school funds of this state. This clause guarantees that common schools (public) will be supported
by the state and local governments. What does efficient mean? Should every school district receive the
same amount of money?
The Supreme Court of Ohio heard a case in 1979 that challenged the adequacy of school funding
(Russo, 2016). The Court ruled that funding was adequate but in 1994 Perry County Court Judge
Linton Lewis, Jr., ruled that public education is a fundamental right in the state of Ohio and that the
state legislature had to provide a better and more equitable means of financing education (DeRolph
Vs. State of Ohio, 2001). This would eventually lead to

Psychoalysis In Oedipus
Sophocles Oedipus is a renowned tragedy which hasn t lost its bite even to this day. It has multiple
alternate titles including Oedipus the King and Oedipus Tyrannous . In the play Oedipus, king of
Thebes, having heard that his city is being ravaged by fire and plague, sends his brother in law Creon
to find a remedy from the oracle of Apollo at Delphi. When Creon returns Oedipus commences to
investigate the death of his predecessor, Laius, and discovers through various accounts that he himself
was the one who had unknowingly killed Laius and then wed his own mother, Jocasta. In reaction to
this news, Oedipus is mortified to the fullest extreme mutilating his eyes, and leaving the court.
Jocasta commits suicide, and the tragedy takes its full course. Sigmund Freud, a renowned father of
modern psychology, cerebrates this, as in his view his psychoanalysis illuminated the relevancy and
power of the play, rather than the other way around. Sophocles is able to reflect the edifications of
psychoanalysis in Oedipus . Freud s Oedipus Complex is very consequential in Sophocles Oedipus for
giving a psychoanalytical reading on it. The Oedipus complex was his theory of mind, and as such he
asserted that present day mental illnesses were related to this complex. The Oedipus complex is
predicated on Freud s observation that children are seen commonly to have fallen in love with one
parent and developed an abhorrence for the other. According to Freud, Oedipus

Music Advertising
The music industry and music business have always favored profits whether it is to sell as much
merchandise as humanly possible, to change a group or artists look to look a certain desirable way, or

has always favored making as much profit as possible and predicting and gambling which songs

Ecology Of Asthma
The Evidence Based Pharmacology of Asthma Management The number of chronic diseases and
individuals suffering continues to rise with the ever growing population. One of these chronic diseases
which is very common and affects all age groups as well as ethnic groups is asthma. There are current
estimates of the number of individuals suffering from asthma internationally to be 300 million and the
chance for the number to reach 400 million by the year 2025 (Alhassan, Hattab, Bajwa, Bihler Singh,
2016). The condition is responsible for roughly 250,000 international deaths yearly with the
prevalence of the disease increasing and despite a decline in deaths within the last decade (Alhassan et

The etiology of asthma and pathophysiology has been studied extensively throughout the decades. The
condition is one of the most common lung diseases worldwide and is responsible for deaths with a
higher prevalence among black Americans and Hispanics (Anise Hasnain Wynia, 2016). There is a
clear definition of asthma and a consensus of the underlying processes which contributes to the
clinical symptoms present in individuals experiencing an acute exacerbation. Asthma is clearly
defined as a heterogeneous condition affecting individuals along the life span which is triggered by
allergens, non allergens and viral or bacterial sources (Martinez Vercelli, 2013). Furthermore, the
condition is described as an inflammatory disease of the airway that results in an immune mediated
response creating symptoms that may include, bronchoconstriction, wheezing, coughing, increased
mucous production and airflow obstruction (Alhassan, 2016 ; Barnes, 2016). The inflammatory
response which occurs involves either helper T cells or lymphoid cells depending on the initial trigger
and with recurring episodes affect the respiratory system, creating changes structurally to the airway
(Barnes, 2016). These changes may consist of thickening of the airway cells, the increased risk of
creating mucous plugs within the airway and fibrosis (Barnes,

The Personal Finance Course Essay
The Personal Finance course is one of the most practical courses that I took in my undergraduate
coursework. It reminds me how I can be a good steward and how I am responsible to manage, protect
and grow God s resources that were given to me. Knowing that God owns everything and that we are
accountable for how we are using His resources motivate us to develop a robust biblical finance plan
that integrates spending, risk management, and investment to reach our desired life goals. My
financial plan will include three main sections, money management section, risk management section,
and investing section. In the money management section, my husband and I made a written list of all
our goals that are related to our financial lifestyle, which include securing our family s future
spiritually and financially. We want to increase our giving and give generously to create a healthier
and safer world. We want to give $10,000 to do something for the orphans in Egypt. Financially, we
are trying to improve our income by acquiring higher degrees to move up the ladder into more growth
opportunities. My husband finished his second Master in Business Administration, and I am trying to
get my bachelor degree in the same field of study to open new doors for our careers. Most importantly,
we are determined to pay off the remaining balance of $7,066 in our credit card debt and stop using all
the credit cards (See PFP29). Moreover, buying a house is the main goal that we are trying to reach

Free Expression Within The Soviet Union
Free Expression within the Soviet Union has been a contested idea over the past century of its
existence. Within legal boundaries Russians were restricted to state sponsored means of expression
such as journal writing, classical music, or state censored literature and media. However these limited
means that were deemed acceptable by the leaders were not what the general populace always wanted.
A system that pushes for freedom and uniformity throughout its population doesn t sound too bad but
when that uniformity is pressed upon the individual s personality; freedom of expression is stifled.
That is exactly what happened to Soviet citizens brought up within their society that emphasized
uniformity as a way to unify its population in an ideological battle which forced its citizens to stay
within a Soviet framework. Rising out of Stalinist times, a youth movement stressing more open
freedom regarding culture and expression began to pick up steam before exploding in the 1980s under
Gorbachev. Movements in art, music, and literature contributed to the push towards glasnost. This
reform came about after decades of resistance to state control of culture and expression in the Soviet
Union through the early years(Lenin Stalin), middle years(Khrushchev Brezhnev), and the later
years(Andropov, Chernenko, Gorbachev).
During the early years of the Soviet Union, uniformity within the country was established under the
state but pockets of resistance remained nonetheless. The

Frankendoodle And Frankenstein
Frankenstein is a classic science fiction novel written by Mary Shelley, through the ages, many
adaptations have taken the story through various forms of popular culture. SpongeBob Squarepants, a
popular children s television show often alludes to classic literature, and makes it entertaining for all
ages. While this example is quite comical, it does hold classical elements associated with
Frankenstein, but takes a spin on the classic science fiction novel. In this essay I will consider the
similarities and differences between the two texts; Frankendoodle as well as Frankenstein . By looking
at the allusion apparent in Frankendoodle , it is clear to see that many of the more popularized

Alfred Hitchcock Blackmail Essay
Early forms of creative filmmaking such as German Expressionism and Soviet montage theory are
considered to have a rich definitive film history. These films are remembered as having
distinguishable techniques, emphasis on images, rhythmic montage, heavy editing, shadows and mise
en scene. By examining film history, complications with film archiving, theoretical perspectives and
Alfred Hitchcock s Blackmail. This essay will determine whether the most frequently viewed mode of
filmmaking, Hollywood cinema, can be considered as having a definitive film history. Although there
is a trend in films produced in 1917 1960, Blackmail being one example of a film with classic

In 1929, Hitchcock released Blackmail, the first all talkie film from Great Britain. Although the film
was not produced in Hollywood, it is still considered as Hollywood cinema as it exhibits the stylistic
traits identified in The Classical Hollywood Cinema. These devices include linear timelines, unstable
equilibriums, psychologically motivated characters, shot/reverse shot, continuity editing and three
point lighting. Furthermore, this supports the perspective that there is a definitive history of
Hollywood cinema. Blackmail fits within the time period of Hollywood cinema, whilst also displaying
the forms narrative and cinematography techniques. However, Blackmail also mimics prominent
features associated with German Expressionism and Soviet Montage, such as mise en scene, dramatic
lighting and shadows. In one scene in Blackmail, Hitchcock manipulates the use of shadows when an
Artist, sexually assaults a young woman called Alice. He stands in his room after being refused a kiss,
coated in the shadows of the set looming over his face. The prominent use of shadows, create a
visually uneasy atmosphere and convey a narrative without dialogue. Hitchcock s use of shadow
manipulation is comparable to the importance of shadows in many famous German Expressionist
films, Nosferatu (1922) and The Cabinet of Dr Caligari (1920). Hitchcock himself stated that he had
acquired a strong German influence by working at the UFA studios in Berlin . Therefore, it can be
argued that Hollywood cinema does not have a definitive history. The examples Bordwell and
Thompson use in Film History: An Introduction supports the perspective within one form of history,
Hollywood cinema. However, it is evident that some films which fit perfectly within the Hollywood
cinema definition, include traits of German Expressionism. The film history is blurred and not
definitive or exclusive to one

A Critical Analysis Of The Uk s Compensation Culture
A critical analysis of the UK s Compensation Culture
Does UK law encourage people to blame and claim ?
Compensation culture is a culture where individuals try to get compensation for any loss, damage, or
suffering caused by another individual. This commonly stretches to include incidents that have weak
or insubstantial links between the claimant and defendant (Horsey and Rackley 2009). Lord Falconer
the former Lord Chancellor defines compensation culture as
...a catch all expression... it s the idea that for every accident someone is at fault. For every injury,
someone to blame. And, perhaps most damaging, for every accident, there is someone to pay (Lord
Falconer, 2005). This essay will briefly explain negligence and its elements and will further critically
analyse the UK compensation culture and discuss whether it exist, or whether it is a perception created
by the media. This essay will further discuss whether the UK laws encourage people to blame and
claim and what the UK law has done to prevent an increase in the compensation culture. The tort of
negligence was established with the leading case of Donoghue v Stevenson (1932) . Donoghue got
sick from having a drink in a café after finding a snail in the bottle. Around this time, there was no
route for litigation due to no contractual association. The only contractual commitment was with
Donoghue s friend who bought the drink and the café owner. Lord Atkin quoted the Bible s principle

Potassium Dichromate
Analysis:
Safety Analysis:
A number of safety precautions needed to be adhered to in order to maintain a safe and controlled
working environment. Acetic acid and potassium dichromate are two examples of hazardous
substances used throughout the practical, with their effects being intense redness, potential blisters,
inhalation is potentially irritant to lungs etc. In order to prevent all contact with these substances,
paper towels were used to wipe the glassware in order to remove any traces. Sulfuric acid was the
most hazardous substance used in the practical, hence the use of a fume hood was required due to its
harmful effects in case of inhalation. Its corrosive and irritant nature could be of great damage onto
skin, hence potential skin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although it contains a carbonyl bond additional to a covalently bonded oxygen, water is able to form
strong hydrogen bonding with two of its hydrogen atoms. Propyl ethanoate is only able to form dipole
dipole bonding in addition to dispersion forces in their intermolecular interactions. In contrast, water
is able to form strong hydrogen bonds with surrounding molecules while conforming to dispersion
forces. It follows that water will require a higher boiling point in comparison to isopropyl ethanoate
due to its ability to form H bonds with surrounding molecules, which require a higher heat energy
input to break. As the ester s polarity is low in comparison to water, it is unable to dissolve completely
in water and therefore, after esterification, the aqueous and organic layers are separated as seen in
Apparatus 2. The layer of ester is on the top as it is less dense than water due to its lower polarity in
comparison to water, which remains in the aqueous layer at the bottom. (Science.uwaterloo.ca,

Medicare Fraud
Medicare Fraud: The History, Incidence, Costs and Institutional Remedies John H Everett Wayland
Baptist Medicare Fraud: The History, Incidence, Costs and Institutional Remedies What is Medicare
fraud? ( F A, 2011, p. 1) states Medicare fraud happens when Medicare is billed for services or
supplies you never got. Medicare fraud costs Medicare a lot of money each year. What is Medicare
abuse? ( F A, 2011, p. 1) defines this as Abuse occurs when doctors or suppliers don t follow good
medical practices, resulting in unnecessary costs to Medicare, improper payment, or services that aren

Some of the key types of Medicare fraud are as follows: Incorrect billing, phantom billing, false
certification, inappropriate services, bribing patients, charging for equipment and supplies which are
never supplied, double billing involves charging for more than once for the same service, code
jamming and upcoding. One of the first big cases in Medicare fraud was with a company called
National Medical Enterprises (NME) in 1994. The suit alleged patients rights were abused and NME
settled for almost $600 million back in the middle 1990s. One of the conditions of the settlement
agreement was NME had to sale of it specialty hospitals. NME later became to be known as Tenet
Healthcare. In 2002, Tenet went through another fraud case with Medicare, this time they were
charged with raising there charges by a large amount each year to reach Medicare outlier payments on
a majority of its Medicare patients. This suit almost cost Tenet to go under as a business. Still today,
Tenet is trying to recover almost nine years later from the effects of this case. The largest in Medicare
fraud involved a company called Columbia/HCA, now it is known just as HCA. The net settlement

Introduction
The RIT campus has a very diverse community that consists of hearing and deaf
people. Although RIT offers many sign language classes and provides interpreters across
campus, communication outside of class is still difficult. The problem we are trying to
overcome is the communication between hearing and deaf people in real time and in
person without third party assistance. Our solution would break down the communication
barriers. Using the best attributes of current communication products and new
technology, we are able to envision a product that would bring forth this new era of
communication.

AIM does this pretty well by using languages and concepts that more people are familiar with. AIM
uses simple English that most people can comprehend. The icons used in AIM represent everyday
things in most people s lives. When a screenname on your buddy list has an away message, a picture
of a note is displayed next to the screenname, signifying that this person has a note (away message)
up. Another example is the picture of a cell phone, when a user is on a mobile device; a picture of a
cell phone is displayed next to the screenname. Menu choices also fit logically into categories that
have readily understood meanings.
User control and freedom
The user needs to be free to select and sequence tasks to their liking. The system should not interfere
with the user s selection process. Users should also be able to leave an unwanted state when desired
and be able to undo and redo tasks. AIM partially allows for user control and freedom. A user can
customize their buddy list, sounds, buddy icon, profile, privacy settings and so on. Since AIM is a
chatting program, at times there are multiple conversations going on at once with different people so
multiple windows are open, AIM makes managing this an easy task by using tabbed windows (user s
choice). A problem with AIM is once you send someone a message, you

Walls In Into The Wild
Walls are built to keep things out. Walls are also built to keep things within a designated area. Much
like the wall s structural cousin, the fence, they serve a myriad of purposes across the eons of history.
Some may even claim that they have a yuge impact on our societies. Jon Krakauer inadvertently
explores the internal walls we build to contain our deepest fears, insecurities and aspirations while he
researches the demise of Chris Mccandless in his non fiction piece titled Into The Wild. Sean Penn
does likewise in his adaption of the book to film. Like many people, Chris had built a wall to protect
himself from the traumas of his childhood and fears of the world around him. Believe Chris; he knew
walls better than anybody, for he lived within the thin walls of a bus in the middle of nowhere for 114
days. However the Alaskan wilderness was not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The scene includes Chris teasing Franz, calling him an old man who sits around all day. Franz denies
these charges and overcomes the limits imposed by his aging body to chase Chris up a sand dune.
Franz is never described or portrayed as a man who leaves the house much so his time alone with
Chris definitely shows that his true nature is caring and fatherly. Chris himself barely shows much
attraction to others, even the fictional girl he meets in Slab City in the film, but shows great affection
for Franz before he departs for Alaska. However the reason that this scene does more harm than good
to the narrative is that it leads to nowhere. There is no impact of his departure portrayed on screen
since Chris just marches away into the sunset. More justice could have been shown to Franz as he
comes closest to the idea that one only truly knows themselves when they are out of their comfort
zone since Chris is too sucked into his own romanticised ideals to reflect this sentiment

Consumer nowadays are quite concern on the quality of the products purchased. They are more
willing to pay for a premium in order to obtain a superior quality of a product rather than spend less
money to get a low quality of product. Thus, quality has become an important factor in determining
what car or vehicle to purchase among consumers. Previous research has suggested that consumers are
keeping their cars for longer, so it is even more vital that their car be well built and relatively
inexpensive to maintain. Definitely, imported car is better as compared to local car especially in term
of quality. This is because imported cars were more reliable and cheaper to maintain than domestic
car. This helps consumers to save their considerable money at import car services such as for
maintenance and repair over the life of the car. Even the price of domestic car is cheaper than
imported car, but it require consumers to spend a lot for maintenance and repair in the future. As a
smart consumer, it is essential to consider not only the initial cost, but also the overall cost of
ownership for the life of the vehicle.
Moreover, there are three types of importers. First, many importers nowadays look for any product

The Greatest Successful Child Stars Essay
Even though HM [Hannah Montana] is chopped up into little tiny pieces and buried in my backyard
she will always hold a very special place in my heart! Miley Cyrus captioned on Instagram for the
tenth anniversary of the TV show that made her one of the most successful child stars in recent
history. A product of Disney, Cyrus would not also be one of the most popular current celebrities if she
had not drastically altered her star text to stay relevant. Her brand management provides exceptional
insight into the continuous battle of sustaining a career as a celebrity. Child stars must decide whether
to maintain their current image and exit the industry or to debrand from this childish appearance and
rebrand for a more mature audience. The latter usually includes bolder, controversial, and more mature
behavior. Rebranding, therefore, is risky because its decoding may result in public outcry and lost fans
potentially killing the celebrity altogether. A celebrity is more than just an individual. As O
Shaughnessy and Stadler describe in Media and Society, they are the sum of everything affiliated with
them from carefully planned promotions to uncontrolled publicity. Therefore, the celebrity cannot
exist without the audience. The audience creates the celebrity from their intertextual and extratextual
knowledge; in other words, from the celebrity s performances as well as external sources. Whether
these two personalities connect or disconnect determines whether they are seen as

In Hiroshima, John Hersey Focuses On The Survivors Of The
In Hiroshima, John Hersey focuses on the survivors of the atomic bomb that is dropped on the city of
Hiroshima at the end of World War II. Instead of focusing on one individual, Hersey decides to report
on six that survive the blast. The survivors came from many different walks of life and were all
affected by the coming of the nuclear age. Mrs. Hatsayo Nakamura was a widow raising three young
children. Dr. Terufumi Sasaki was a young surgeon unhurt during the explosion, leaving him to care
for thousands of Hiroshima s wounded. Father Wilhelm Kleinsorge was a German priest that comforts
many of the wounded and dying. Toshiko Sasaki was a young woman working in a factory to make
ends meet for her family and her parents. Dr. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bomb caused many slow moving fires throughout the city, some of which soon encroached upon
the park. The fire pushed the wounded toward the riverbank, which became overcrowded, causing
many of those that could be saved to drown. This was only one example of what was seen that day by
the survivors. Eventually, Miss Sasaki was rescued from the factory in which she became trapped, but
was then left under a makeshift shack for days on end before being rescued again. With a broken and
gangrenous leg, Sasaki survives after finally being taken to a hospital. Whatever the survivors of the
bombing of the city of Hiroshima experienced, the thing they share is survival.
The six survivors all were changed in some way after the bombing of Hiroshima. At the end of his
book, Hersey adds a chapter that details what happened to each survivor in the months and years after
the day the bomb was dropped. Mrs. Nakamura ends up suffering from radiation poisoning after the
fact, but ends up eventually getting a decent job and lives well off. Mrs. Nakamura epitomizes the
Japanese idea of Shikata ga nai , which translates roughly into English as It can t be helped . She does
not display much emotion during the events because there s nothing she can do to affect what is
happening to her. Dr. Sasaki ends up leaving the hospital he had worked at during the time before the
bomb was dropped. This could be because of the amount of suffering he saw

Comparing Pride And Prejudice And Letters To Alice
Jane Austen s novel Pride and Prejudice (1813) and Fay Weldon s novel Letters to Alice (1984) elicit a
deeper understanding of human behaviour and social expectations. A comparison of these two texts
highlights the changing expectations of women and the timeless necessity of education.
In Pride and Prejudice, Austen criticises her society s expectations of women as restrictive and
detrimental for their happiness. In the Regency era, women depended on men for wealth or status by
marriage, and women in general were expected to be submissive to men. After Lizzy s walk to
Netherfield, the snobbish Miss Bingley remarks that: It seems to me to show an abominable sort of
conceited independence , her disapproving tone demonstrating that the the expectations ... Show more

In 1980s England, marriage was mostly made for love rather than wealth, and women had the right to
vote and work due to the campaigns of second wave feminism of the mid 20th century. Her
juxtaposition of tense: To marry was a great prize ... no wonder Jane Austen s heroines were so
absorbed by the matter. It is the stuff of our women s magazines, but it was the stuff of their life, their
very existence shows the relegation of marriage to a luxury rather than an important goal for women.
Weldon reshapes readers critical opinions of Mrs Bennet, formed by 1980s society s trivialised
attitude towards marriage, by explaining her behaviour in relation to her society s restrictive
expectations of marriage and laws of entailment: No wonder Mrs Bennet, driven half mad by anxiety
for her five unmarried daughters, knowing they would be unprovided for when her husband died ...
made a fool of herself in public. Her critical tone: It is too easy to believe that because something is
traditionally women s work, that it is worth nothing demonstrates domesticity is no longer the sole
option for 1980s women. Weldon s critical tone while referencing Austen: Mansfield Park throbs with
the notion that what women need is the moral care and protection of men shows that the necessity of
female dependence on men is no longer necessary in her society. Weldon

Research Paper On Secondhand Smokers
Smoking is harmful to the smoker and anyone around them, including your baby. The health problems
that are associated with smoke inhalation range from low birthweight to death. When a child dies due
to unexpected reasons, we call it SIDS or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Unfortunately, there are no
signs or symptoms associated with SIDS but removing cigarette smoke can reduce the risk upwards
80%.
The dangers of cigarette smoke does not end with the smoker. In fact, there are two separate types of
exposure; second and third hand. Secondhand exposure occurs when someone else breaths in air
released from the cigarette.
Since 1964 approximately 2.5 million non smokers have died from problems associated with
secondhand smoke. Studies have shown that secondhand smoke affects over a million children
everyday. Some of the dangers associated with this exposure include ear infections, respiratory
problems and tooth decay. In fact, many smokers believe that smoking outside can prevent this
exposure, when in all actuality it does not. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For many people third hand smoke is seen more than secondhand smoke. Third hand smoke is the
residual nicotine and unthought of chemicals that stick around. This smoke can build up on hair, skin,
furniture, curtains, walls, and so much more. This shows us that touch, inhalation, and ingestion are all
ways someone can be affected by cigarettes. The worst thing is normal cleaning products will not
touch it. So how does one protect those around them? They create a smoke free environment and stick
to it!
Smoking affects not only yourself but others around you including your pets. Research has shown that
secondhand smoke exposure can lead to cancer, allergies, and respiratory problems like lung cancer.
Ultimately, leaving those innocent animals in as much risk as their human

Jk Rowling Criticism
Harry Potter and the Philosopher s Stone by J.K. Rowling is the first book in the Magical Harry Potter
series. J.K. Rowling was actually turned down by 12 publishers until Bloomsbury agreed to publish
the 223 page book in 2000, but she had to pay an advance of £1,500. Later on, after Harry Potter and
the Philosopher s Stone was released and published it sold a total of 450 million books worldwide.
There is not exactly one genre for the Harry Potter series it is actually a mixture of Young adult
fiction, mystery and fantasy. It s Harry s first year at Hogwarts and he has just found out that he was a
wizard and he hasn t even begun to learn about the magical world. Harry has made some new friends

Rowling did achieve her goal because she made a great book and she managed to become a world
famous author. I really think that J.K. Rowling s writing is powerful and imaginative because she uses
strong and sophisticated words when she is writing also, she doesn t tell she shows. There are so many
strengths that include the vocabulary plus the mix of long and short sentences. I honestly think that
there are no weaknesses for the book because the usage of vocabulary and the idea of the story itself. I
thought that the book is way beyond interesting and moving I thought that it was captivating, mind
boggling and breathtaking. Yes, I would absolutely recommend this book to others because it there are
many different twists in the book.
After the reading the book, my impression was shocked and exhilarated because of the way the story
was wrapped up. I really want the people that haven t read Harry Potter and the Philosopher s stone to
read it!! They should read the book because it is way more than magic it taught me many things like
bravery, courage, perseverance, love and the most important one of all the power of friendship. Also it
really helps me escape the reality and enter the magical world of Harry Potter where anything is

Myspace And Myspace By Danah Boyd Analysis
Before I read Danah Boyd s essay, I was confused with the title Viewing American class divisions
through Facebook and MySpace. I was thinking how American class (in school) divided by these
social networks, but now I understand that she was talking about social class. Her content was
abundant that she used such advanced terminologies to describe those users of MySpace and
Facebook. The most wonderful part of this essay was she used neutural (but a little bit partial) point of
view to convey her thought based on some judgements. Boyd wrote I don t have the language to get at
what I want to say, but I decided it needed to be said anyhow. The class divisions of social networks
are really hard to explain to readers what was going on by putting ... Show more content on

She described how good kids are flocking in Facebook and bad kids are flocking in MySpace. Many
of them left MySpace for Facebook in high school. Those who use MySpace tend to be high school
graduated in working class and those who use Facebook are upper class with higher college education.
She used an example in military to emphasize that hegemonic teens and subaltern teens are divided by
these two social networks as the reflection in high school. Soldiers are on MySpace; officers are on
Facebook. The author illustrated the Facebook users received college training while MySpace users
were poor and less educated. Even those soldiers profiles revealed their violent natural characters.
Therefore, the military ban of MySpace would considered as a class division in military. The author
guessed that MySpace users may spend too much time on line and the officers want them to pay more
attention and responsibilities on their duties. It just an educated guess because nobody know whether
this class division would have any conflict of their respective interest. I think this was one of the
reasons of this military ban. Facebook is extremely popular in the military. How clear was it shown in
Boyd s perspective that MySpace would be an obstacle for Facebook in the military. That is why she
would emphasize extremely popular as she was

The Romantic Period Of Wordsworth
The Romantic period was a revolt against the traditional Neoclassical writing that occurred previously.
Before the mid eighteenth century poems were written for the rich and revolved around the use of
form, wit, and intellect. These neoclassical poems drew on the influences of Greek and Roman
classics. The neoclassical era ended when Wordsworth wrote preface to Lyrical Ballads. Wordsworth s
preface was a revolutionary manifesto about the nature of poetry (Greenblatt 292). His preface started
a new movement in literature, and the poets that came after him were influenced by his revolutionary
definition of what poetry should be. In this essay I will argue that Wordsworth s preface introduced a
stylistic shift of using everyday language and real situations in poetry. This shift resulted in poems and
essays about the human mind, imagination, emotion, nature, and freedom of thought. I will first
discuss the content and meaning of Wordsworth preface, and then I will reveal how the writing of the
Romantic poets reflect Wordsworth s ideas.
William Wordsworth redefined the meaning of poetry. Wordsworth said, The principal object... was to
choose, incidents and situations from common life, and to relate or describe them...in a selection of
language really used by men; and at the same time, to throw over them a certain coloring of
imagination, whereby ordinary things should be presented in an unusual way (Lyrical Ballads 295).
Wordsworth believed that poetry should be focused on

  • 2. Essay on Biography of Karl Marx Biography of Karl Marx Only in the course of the world s history can a person born over a hundred years ago be as famous today as they were back then. Karl Marx is one person that fits this category. He paved the way for people of the same political background as his own. Marx s ideas were unique and started uproar all over Europe. Marx helped write the Communist Manifesto one of the most important pieces of literature on Communism ever written. At one time people feared Communism as a power, which prompted Marx to write the Communist Manifesto and explain his ideas. How Communism should be used as type of government. The Baron introduced him into Romantic literature and Saint Simonian. Marx s dad sent him to the University of Berlin for four years. While in Berlin he traded in his views of Romanticism to views of the Hegelianism, which ruled Berlin at this point in history. When Marx s college career was cut short by the opposition of the Prussian Government he moved to journalism. Marx became the editor of the Rheinische Zeitung a liberal newspaper in Cologne, Germany in 1842. His views on economic questions made the Prussian Government uncomfortable and they closed the paper. This is where Marx first got his ideas of how classes make life harsh for certain people and the only way to fix this is to eliminate classes all together. After that Marx moved to France, where in a few months he became a communist. He developed his ideas in his writings, which he titled Economic and Philosophical Manuscripts. It was in Paris that Marx met his partner for life Friedrich Engel s. Both of them moved to Brussels, and visited Engel s family in England from time to time. During his time here he wrote The German Ideology for which he had studied history intensely to come up with a materialistic view of history. In the German Ideology Marx said, The nature of individuals depends on the material conditions determining their production. . Well the adver tisement companies think that sex sells. When women is objectified, they are being degraded of their character as a human. These days young women especially, they are being objectified to sell goods and services using their looks and not their knowledge. In the article Objectification of Women in Entertainment Media by Jon Barber, explains how the objectification of women in society is a trend that is developing in the entertainment of media today. Barber points out it is specifically in movies, music videos, music, television, and in the advertisement industries there is strong focus on women as sexual objects rather than women. What Barber is saying it is true; an example of this is one of the Tom Ford Ad (see image below). What is a men s fragrance cologne doing in between a woman s breasts? Barber goes on to say that the media is creating social stereotypes for both men and women that can result in un healthy social and physical habits which is catastrophic to society. (Barber par 1) This is unfor tunate; there is no escape from these Ads, because the average of advertisements being watched by a woman is about 400 to 600 per day. (Qtd. • 5. The Issue Of School Finance School finance has been a contentious issue around the country due to the amount of money that is required to provide a public education to all children. Exacerbating the issue is the fact that there is no uniformity across each state because the federal government does not have any clause within the U.S. Constitution that requires a funding of public education. Providing education is simply relegated to each state under the 10th amendment (Russo, 2016). Ohio State Constitution Article VI: The General Assembly shall make such provisions, by taxation, or otherwise, as, with the income arising from the school trust fund, will secure a thorough and efficient system of common schools throughout the state; but no religious or other sect, or sects, shall ever have any exclusive right to, or control of, any part of the school funds of this state. This clause guarantees that common schools (public) will be supported by the state and local governments. What does efficient mean? Should every school district receive the same amount of money? The Supreme Court of Ohio heard a case in 1979 that challenged the adequacy of school funding (Russo, 2016). The Court ruled that funding was adequate but in 1994 Perry County Court Judge Linton Lewis, Jr., ruled that public education is a fundamental right in the state of Ohio and that the state legislature had to provide a better and more equitable means of financing education (DeRolph Vs. State of Ohio, 2001). This would eventually lead to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the play Oedipus, king of Thebes, having heard that his city is being ravaged by fire and plague, sends his brother in law Creon to find a remedy from the oracle of Apollo at Delphi. In reaction to this news, Oedipus is mortified to the fullest extreme mutilating his eyes, and leaving the court. Jocasta commits suicide, and the tragedy takes its full course. Sigmund Freud, a renowned father of modern psychology, cerebrates this, as in his view his psychoanalysis illuminated the relevancy and power of the play, rather than the other way around. Sophocles is able to reflect the edifications of psychoanalysis in Oedipus . Freud s Oedipus Complex is very consequential in Sophocles Oedipus for giving a psychoanalytical reading on it. The Oedipus complex was his theory of mind, and as such he asserted that present day mental illnesses were related to this complex. • 10. The Personal Finance Course Essay The Personal Finance course is one of the most practical courses that I took in my undergraduate coursework. It reminds me how I can be a good steward and how I am responsible to manage, protect and grow God s resources that were given to me. Knowing that God owns everything and that we are accountable for how we are using His resources motivate us to develop a robust biblical finance plan that integrates spending, risk management, and investment to reach our desired life goals. My financial plan will include three main sections, money management section, risk management section, and investing section. In the money management section, my husband and I made a written list of all our goals that are related to our financial lifestyle, which include securing our family s future spiritually and financially. We want to increase our giving and give generously to create a healthier and safer world. We want to give $10,000 to do something for the orphans in Egypt. Financially, we are trying to improve our income by acquiring higher degrees to move up the ladder into more growth opportunities. My husband finished his second Master in Business Administration, and I am trying to get my bachelor degree in the same field of study to open new doors for our careers. • 11. Free Expression Within The Soviet Union Free Expression within the Soviet Union has been a contested idea over the past century of its existence. Within legal boundaries Russians were restricted to state sponsored means of expression such as journal writing, classical music, or state censored literature and media. However these limited means that were deemed acceptable by the leaders were not what the general populace always wanted. A system that pushes for freedom and uniformity throughout its population doesn t sound too bad but when that uniformity is pressed upon the individual s personality; freedom of expression is stifled. That is exactly what happened to Soviet citizens brought up within their society that emphasized uniformity as a way to unify its population in an ideological battle which forced its citizens to stay within a Soviet framework. Rising out of Stalinist times, a youth movement stressing more open freedom regarding culture and expression began to pick up steam before exploding in the 1980s under Gorbachev. Movements in art, music, and literature contributed to the push towards glasnost. This reform came about after decades of resistance to state control of culture and expression in the Soviet Union through the early years(Lenin Stalin), middle years(Khrushchev Brezhnev), and the later years(Andropov, Chernenko, Gorbachev). During the early years of the Soviet Union, uniformity within the country was established under the state but pockets of resistance remained nonetheless. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1929, Hitchcock released Blackmail, the first all talkie film from Great Britain. Although the film was not produced in Hollywood, it is still considered as Hollywood cinema as it exhibits the stylistic traits identified in The Classical Hollywood Cinema. These devices include linear timelines, unstable equilibriums, psychologically motivated characters, shot/reverse shot, continuity editing and three point lighting. Furthermore, this supports the perspective that there is a definitive history of Hollywood cinema. Blackmail fits within the time period of Hollywood cinema, whilst also displaying the forms narrative and cinematography techniques. However, Blackmail also mimics prominent features associated with German Expressionism and Soviet Montage, such as mise en scene, dramatic lighting and shadows. In one scene in Blackmail, Hitchcock manipulates the use of shadows when an Artist, sexually assaults a young woman called Alice. He stands in his room after being refused a kiss, coated in the shadows of the set looming over his face. The prominent use of shadows, create a visually uneasy atmosphere and convey a narrative without dialogue. Hitchcock s use of shadow manipulation is comparable to the importance of shadows in many famous German Expressionist films, Nosferatu (1922) and The Cabinet of Dr Caligari (1920). Hitchcock himself stated that he had acquired a strong German influence by working at the UFA studios in Berlin . Therefore, it can be argued that Hollywood cinema does not have a definitive history. The examples Bordwell and Thompson use in Film History: An Introduction supports the perspective within one form of history, Hollywood cinema. Compensation culture is a culture where individuals try to get compensation for any loss, damage, or suffering caused by another individual. Lord Falconer the former Lord Chancellor defines compensation culture as ...a catch all expression... it s the idea that for every accident someone is at fault. For every injury, someone to blame. In the Regency era, women depended on men for wealth or status by marriage, and women in general were expected to be submissive to men. After Lizzy s walk to Netherfield, the snobbish Miss Bingley remarks that: It seems to me to show an abominable sort of conceited independence , her disapproving tone demonstrating that the the expectations ... In 1980s England, marriage was mostly made for love rather than wealth, and women had the right to vote and work due to the campaigns of second wave feminism of the mid 20th century. Her juxtaposition of tense: To marry was a great prize ... no wonder Jane Austen s heroines were so absorbed by the matter. It is the stuff of our women s magazines, but it was the stuff of their life, their very existence shows the relegation of marriage to a luxury rather than an important goal for women. Weldon reshapes readers critical opinions of Mrs Bennet, formed by 1980s society s trivialised attitude towards marriage, by explaining her behaviour in relation to her society s restrictive expectations of marriage and laws of entailment: No wonder Mrs Bennet, driven half mad by anxiety for her five unmarried daughters, knowing they would be unprovided for when her husband died ... made a fool of herself in public. Her critical tone: It is too easy to believe that because something is traditionally women s work, that it is worth nothing demonstrates domesticity is no longer the sole option for 1980s women. Weldon s critical tone while referencing Austen: Mansfield Park throbs with the notion that what women need is the moral care and protection of men shows that the necessity of female dependence on men is no longer necessary in her society. The health problems that are associated with smoke inhalation range from low birthweight to death. When a child dies due to unexpected reasons, we call it SIDS or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Unfortunately, there are no signs or symptoms associated with SIDS but removing cigarette smoke can reduce the risk upwards 80%. The dangers of cigarette smoke does not end with the smoker. In fact, there are two separate types of exposure; second and third hand. Secondhand exposure occurs when someone else breaths in air released from the cigarette. Since 1964 approximately 2.5 million non smokers have died from problems associated with secondhand smoke. Studies have shown that secondhand smoke affects over a million children everyday. • 36. Myspace And Myspace By Danah Boyd Analysis Before I read Danah Boyd s essay, I was confused with the title Viewing American class divisions through Facebook and MySpace. I was thinking how American class (in school) divided by these social networks, but now I understand that she was talking about social class. Her content was abundant that she used such advanced terminologies to describe those users of MySpace and Facebook. The most wonderful part of this essay was she used neutural (but a little bit partial) point of view to convey her thought based on some judgements. Boyd wrote I don t have the language to get at what I want to say, but I decided it needed to be said anyhow. The class divisions of social networks are really hard to explain to readers what was going on by putting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She described how good kids are flocking in Facebook and bad kids are flocking in MySpace. Many of them left MySpace for Facebook in high school. Those who use MySpace tend to be high school graduated in working class and those who use Facebook are upper class with higher college education. She used an example in military to emphasize that hegemonic teens and subaltern teens are divided by these two social networks as the reflection in high school. Soldiers are on MySpace; officers are on Facebook. The author illustrated the Facebook users received college training while MySpace users were poor and less educated. Even those soldiers profiles revealed their violent natural characters. Therefore, the military ban of MySpace would considered as a class division in military. The author guessed that MySpace users may spend too much time on line and the officers want them to pay more attention and responsibilities on their duties. It just an educated guess because nobody know whether this class division would have any conflict of their respective interest. I think this was one of the reasons of this military ban. Facebook is extremely popular in the military. How clear was it shown in Boyd s perspective that MySpace would be an obstacle for Facebook in the military. That is why she would emphasize extremely popular as she was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. The Romantic Period Of Wordsworth The Romantic period was a revolt against the traditional Neoclassical writing that occurred previously. Before the mid eighteenth century poems were written for the rich and revolved around the use of form, wit, and intellect. These neoclassical poems drew on the influences of Greek and Roman classics. The neoclassical era ended when Wordsworth wrote preface to Lyrical Ballads. Wordsworth s preface was a revolutionary manifesto about the nature of poetry (Greenblatt 292). His preface started a new movement in literature, and the poets that came after him were influenced by his revolutionary definition of what poetry should be. In this essay I will argue that Wordsworth s preface introduced a stylistic shift of using everyday language and real situations in poetry. This shift resulted in poems and essays about the human mind, imagination, emotion, nature, and freedom of thought. I will first discuss the content and meaning of Wordsworth preface, and then I will reveal how the writing of the Romantic poets reflect Wordsworth s ideas. William Wordsworth redefined the meaning of poetry. Wordsworth said, The principal object... was to choose, incidents and situations from common life, and to relate or describe them...in a selection of language really used by men; and at the same time, to throw over them a certain coloring of imagination, whereby ordinary things should be presented in an unusual way (Lyrical Ballads 295). Wordsworth believed that poetry should be focused on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
