The Meiji Restoration, refers to the events that led to the restoration of power to Emperor Meiji
Tenno. The previous political and military leader of Japan had been the Tokugawa shogunate, but due

This would help give Arundel Partners an advantage while negotiating because studios would
normally misprice the rights to be lower than actuality, since it is not normality for them to assign a
value to sequel rights before the first film was in production. Through the use of a simple Net Present
Value (NPV) calculation, we can determine the expected profitability of the hypothetical sequels in
question. The NPV is calculated by discounting future cash inflows and outflows by a rate that is
adjusted for riskiness of the investment, the required rate of return. In this case of purchasing movie
sequel rights the discount rate is 15 percent. We are expecting to produce every film sequel that has a
positive NPV, when computing the NPV of this investment decision in the first assumption. That is,
every sequel that we predict to be profitable. However, we must take into account that we are buying

The reason for this is that I personally cannot see myself in a situation where I would assault a client.
That being said, I can appreciate that Sean decided to continue his therapy with Will; he didn t give
up. Sean maturely approached Will and had a conversation where he spoke his mind honestly, which
ultimately earned Will s trust. However, I would not have stereotyped my client, and assumed that for

circumstances where a comment made about the client s reality helps them move along in therapy. In
the film, after the conversation in the park, Sean s remarks made Will take therapy more seriously
(Rosenbloom, 2001, p.1). Lastly, research has found that a comment made about the workers personal
life may trigger the client to discuss their own struggles. Following the scene on the park bench, the
trust Will has gained for Sean is enough for Will to confide in him. Sean being vulnerable and real
with Will about his personal struggles is what makes this possible (Rosenbloom, 2001, p.1). Even

I. Speech codes theory Speech codes theory is an account of communication as a deeply cultured
human activity. The theory, and the empirical research on which it is built, demonstrate that the kinds
of local knowledge people deploy to talk about to characterize, interpret, and rationalize their
communicative conduct is indeed local, particular knowledge, and that such knowledge can be
discovered and described through systematic inquiry. This article describes the key theoretical
commitments of speech codes theory, identifies its six propositions, illustrates research within the
tradition, and assesses its purposes. Speech codes theory was first published in prototypical form with
an introduction to the concept of speech codes and a presentation of four empirically grounded
principles about speech codes (Philipsen, 1992). Then it was presented as a formal theoretical
statement with five empirically grounded propositions, four of which were carried over intact from the
earlier version (Philipsen, 1997). Speech codes theory was created for two purposes. One purpose was
to distill some of what might be learned from a large body of fieldwork research on culturally
distinctive ways of speaking. When the first version of speech codes theory was written, there had
been established a large body of fieldwork about cultural ways of speaking that had been conducted
