Castle Doctrine
Castle Doctrine In Peace Like A River, written by Leif Enger, an argument about castle doctrine
is seen, when Davy shot Finch and Basca through the skulls. The definition of the castle doctrine
is that an individual has no duty to retreat when in his or her home and can use violent force to
harm or kill the intruder (Do Castle Doctrine Laws Impact Violent Crime). Because of Florida
publishing the law, the rest of the US decided to adopt the law. The law, Castle Doctrine,
revolutionized the rest of the U.S, by allowing people rebel against unwanted people in their home
or property in respectable or delinquent ways.
In a myriad of the states, Castle Doctrine is self defense in many instances. One example is when
Joe Horn, a 61 year old retiree, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of castle doctrine being manipulated is when Diren Dede, a 17 year old German
exchange student, was fatally shot in the head and arm when he entered the garage of Markus
Kaarma asking for help in Missoula, Mont. , on April 27. Kaarma said it was self defense, but a
Montana jury recently found him guilty of deliberate homicide (Lee, ProPublica Suevon).
Additionally in April, 22 year old Cordell Jude shot and killed Daniel Adkins Jr., a pedestrian
who walked in front of Jude s car just as Jude was pulling up to the window of a Taco Bell drive
thru in Arizona. Jude claimed Adkins had waved his arms in the air, wielding what Jude thought
was a metal pipe, but it was actually a dog leash. As a result, Jude shot the 29 year old Adkins in
the chest (Lee, ProPublica Suevon). As a result, Jude Adkins was arrested for the wrong
utilization of castle doctrine (Lee, ProPublica Suevon). Because of these foolish reasons, the US
death rate is twice more than it should be since 2008 (Why Gun Violence Can t Be Our New
Normal). These examples show that castle doctrine can be used for no reason at all. Consequently,
these cases are all located within the United States and relate to the age range of 15 30 years old.
The castle doctrine law should only be used for real matters, such as thieving, murder, or domestic

Hewlett Packard just like Kerzner Office Equipment faced a severe financial crisis resulting massive
job cuts. The job cuts had a tremendous impact on employee morale where Hewlett Packard
established better communication with employees by adopting MBWA method. But Amber Briggs,
the human resource specialist did not establish a face to face interaction. Amber Briggs should have
gone to meet the assigned employees to build a network and cooperation with them. Thus, Amber
Briggs could have gained more support in the first meeting. Like Southwest Airlines, Kerzner s new
CEO Justin Tubbs wanted to build better relationship with employees. Unlike Kerzner, Southwest
even during tough external market maintained high integrity and cooperation with employees.
Amber Brigs like Southwest should adopt personal related currencies that can help others feel a
sense of importance and personal worth that will generate goodwill with team members.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Kerzner Office Equipment was faced with challenges and its ultimate success or

A Few Miles South Of Soledad, The Salinas River
A few miles south of Soledad, the Salinas River drops in close to the hillside bank and runs deep
and green. The water is warm too, for it has slipped twinkling over the yellow sands in the
sunlight before reaching the narrow pool. On one side of the river the golden foothill slopes curve
up to the strong and rocky Gabilan Mountains, but on the valley side the water is lined with trees
willows fresh and green with every spring, carrying in their lower leaf junctures the debris of the
winter s flooding; and sycamores with mottled, white, recumbent limbs and branches that arch over
the pool. On the sandy bank under the trees the leaves lie deep and so crisp that a lizard makes a
great skittering if he runs among them. Rabbits come out of the brush to sit on the sand in the
evening, and the damp flats are covered with the night tracks of coons, and with the spread pads of
dogs from the ranches, and with the split wedge tracks of deer that come to drink in the dark.
There is a path through the willows and among the sycamores, a path beaten hard by boys
coming down from the ranches to swim in the deep pool, and beaten hard by tramps who come
wearily down from the highway in the evening to jungle up near water. In front of the low
horizontal limb of a giant sycamore there is an ash pile made by many fires; the limb is worn
smooth by men who have sat on it.
Evening of a hot day started the little wind to moving among the leaves. The shade climbed up the
hills toward the top. On

The Levels Of Law Enforcement
Since the beginning years of American history and basically every other country has been kept
safe by the police or police type department. In the United States, there are three levels of law
enforcement, there is the Federal level, the State level, and the Local level. The levels of law
enforcement have various duties but most duties are very similar. Every day in the field is very
different. The job can also be extremely stressful, and law enforcement professionals need specific
training to succeed. A career in law enforcement is a secure job to have because crime never stops.
What is law enforcement? It is a system where members of society perform in such manner to
enforce laws by discovering, deterring, rehabilitating, or punishing the members of society who
violate the laws that protect society. In other words The generic name for the activities of the
agencies responsible for maintaining public order and enforcing the law, particularly the activities
of prevention, detection, and investigation of crime and the apprehension of criminals (BJS).
Quick History In April of 1635, the City of Boston established the first system of law enforcement
in the 13 colonies. They were called the Night Watch , the officers worked part time with no pay.
It was until 1712 when the City of Boston hired its first paid full time law enforcement officer in
the 13 colonies. On September 24, 1789 the United States Congress created the first Federal law

Joan Vinckeboons Research Paper
This beautiful manuscript map is the work of Dutch cartographer and watercolorist Joan
Vinckeboons, published in 1639. Vinckeboons came from a family of artists and started out
drawing for his father; around 1640, he got into mapmaking and is known for his beautiful
watercolor manuscript maps of the East and West Indies. His stunning works became sought after
collector s item by society elites and royalty, such as queen Christina of Sweden. With only one
copy made at the time, and currently housed in the Library of Congress, this early map of
Manhattan and its environs, shows Staten Island, Long Island, landowners, Indian houses,
plantations and farms. Did you know that a portion of New York was once the colony of New

Oedipa Research Paper
Humans are curious creatures who observe the world to find meaning in life, but the world is not
clear cut, meaning there are no definite answers. Furthermore, since a single truth does not exist
in the world, the way people view something may be different from another s view. People try to
find purpose in their life, but this can change over time as with many things. One example is how
writing styles change from era to era: Post modernist writing takes place after World II when the
writing style changes from Romance, with nature and love encompassing all, to Post Modernism,
when everything is terrible and filled with corruption. People can interpret things in various ways
which can be a result of their environment, focal point, and purpose... Show more content on

Oedipa chooses to execute the will of her old boyfriend Pierce. Along this journey, she uncovers
a secret society and tries discover everything about them. Her obsession encroaches upon other
aspects of her life, which makes her see everything as if it is related to the society. In a play that
can be interpreted in many ways she only notices the one word Trystero, which is a part of the
secret society (Pynchon 58). Of all the various meanings that Oedipa could have taken from the
play, she takes the one that is associated with the society. Humans see what they want to see
(Riordan 137). In Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, gods exist, but mortals cannot view
them. It is not a matter of actual vision, but more so what people can comprehend. Most people
could not view gods in their god form and therefore try to picture them as something they are
more familiar with. This means that when people are handed different options and views they will
take the one that is the easiest for them to comprehend. There is a phenomenon known as the
Backfire Effect which states that when people s belief is undermined and proven wrong, then they
will have an even stronger belief in it (David McRaney). McRaney viewed a study where false
newspapers were given to people before truthful ones and most people believed the first, untruthful
newspaper rather than the second, truthful one. People will stick with their beliefs through thick
and thin and become near sighted in the end. They do not want things to change that they had a
strong belief in and will neglect any information that says otherwise. People do not like change and
that can cloud their judgment, but this should not stop them from their purpose of having a belief
in life and instead should let them look for an even greater meaning

Sample For Nursing Research Paper
I have always wanted to become a nurse. As a child, I always looked forward to my grandmother
coming home and telling me all the stories from the day. Whether it was a good or a bad
outcome, her stories at the hospital were always an inspiration to me. When I was 8 years old, I
traveled to Ecuador with my grandparents on a public healthmission trip. We took food, clothing,
toys, medications, and first aid supplies to distribute to the community in Quito. While there, I
realized the distinct hardships that underserved populations around the globe face. This is where
my love for nursing heightened, and my knowledge of public health emerged.
In addition to my Quito trip, I have traveled to Costa Rica and Nicaragua where I worked with
medical staff to improve the health in various schools and communities. In Costa Rica, we hosted
educational lectures, provided screenings to children, assisted the doctor in the examining room,
and conducted house visits in the mountains of Aguas Claras. In Nicaragua, we performed similar
duties, providing patient care, diagnosis, and medications for 625 patients with the help of a few
doctors from Nicaragua. We also built sanitation stations for two families in the small town of...

Essay about Christian Teachings on Wealth and Poverty
Christianity teaches us that wealth is not what you need to enter heaven. To enter heaven you
must be caring and share your riches with the poor and needy. As a result of Jesus teachings, the
early churches shared all they had to make sure no one was in need. Jesus taught us that the
pursuing of wealth could lead you into temptations. He said that we will be judged not on the
size of our bank balance, but on how we have helped those who are less fortunate. A well known
Christian teaching goes as follows: It is harder for a rich man to go to heaven than it is for a camel
to go through the eye of a needle . This means it is impossible for a camel to go through the eye of
a needle.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This quote is telling us that being rich, having power or fame, or having any human
achievements is not true happiness. True happiness comes from helping your fellow man.
Therefore the Catholic Churches view is clear that they think being self centred and narrow
minded is the wrong way to go about life. Catholics believe that you be able to realise the
suffering of the other people around you and help those people. To summarise, Christianity
teaches us that we must share our riches with the poor and needy if we want to go to heaven.
Greed and selfishness is unchristian. Christians today still follow Jesus teachings by doing the
following things: В· Giving clothes to charity shops such as Oxfam. В· Donating money to
charity. В· Doing voluntary work to collect donations to charity. В· Islamic teachings on wealth
and povertyFunded races and other activities. The Islamic religion teaches its followers to base
their lives around the five pillars. One of these pillars is called Zakah, Zakah is meant to purify
the money you leave so it cannot harm you in the future. Muslims have very strict rules, one of
which is not to gamble. The reason being is because it is a sinful temptation and is against what
the Islamic Religion teaches. Muslims are also encouraged to help the poor by refusing to charge
interest on loans and by changing

Buying Coffee From A Coffee Shop
When I think about all the purchases I make on a somewhat regular basis, the major item that
stands out the most to me is coffee. I can confidently say that a coffee from a coffee shop is an
item that I absolutely by on a daily basis. Some other items I purchase somewhat regularly, but
on a less frequent basis than a daily coffee, would be weekly or biweekly groceries. A little less
frequently I will make beauty purchases. I would say on a monthly basis I will buy hair products
and make up. Although there are many other purchase that I make within a given year, I would say
that these items are the consistent ones that I continue purchase regularly. When it comes to buying
coffee, I don t give it a whole lot of thought. I am not picky when it comes to my coffee, any kind
will do. The sole purpose of purchasing it is to give me a boost of caffeine in the morning to start
my day. I never really thought too much about how buying a coffee would have any affects on the
environment, but being forced to think about it really opens up my eyes. Coffee that people grab
on the go will either come in plastic or styrofoam. I will admit that I am guilty of not always
properly disposing of these cups in the proper recyclingbins, and I have seen first hand that I am not
alone. I never really thought about how the amount of coffee that I buy in a given year, and all of
the un recycled plastic and styrofoam could be causing environmental harm. It s not just the
chemicals that these products

Rhetorical Analysis Of President Ronald Reagan s Speech
On January 28, 1986, as millions of Americans watched on live television and in person, the
Challenger space shuttle exploded and broke up over the Atlantic Ocean just moments after its
launch. This space mission was significant for several reason, among them was that it would be the
first time where the space shuttlewould carry a civilian into outer space. Also, there was a frenzy
of interest for Americans as the U.S. and Russians were locked in a space race for space
exploration supremacy. Instead. President Ronald Reagan was left with the unenviable duty of
consoling a nation that had just witnessed the most significant disaster in American history. Hours
after the national disaster, President Reagan sat behind his desk, and steadfastly delivered a set
piece speech from the Oval office. He invited the American audience to listen with a formal, but
respectful introduction Ladies and Gentlemen . His tone was firm, and as he calmly addressed the
tragic events from earlier in the day. The opening lines set a somber tone for the rest of the speech
as he stated this day for mourning and remembering and declaring the tragedy a national loss , But
President Reagan did not want his fellow Americans to just dwell on this tragedy. He used it an

counterparts. And, President Reagan wanted to prevent any false speculations about the cause of

Still Alice Movie Comparison
Still Alice is a bleak American film adapted on Lisa GenovaВґs novel, it takes place in New York
City in 2014, with a budget of $4 million dollars. It all started with Alice Howland, which is a
professor in the University of Columbia, celebrating her 50th birthday with her husband and her
sons. Then she goes to talk to a conference and she starts to forget little things and her memory
started to fade; after a while she visited a doctor and she had various brain studies to know what
she could possibly have.
Alice likes to spend time on her own and to run all over the city. After that the doctors discovered
she had AlzheimerВґs disease, then the whole plot tells us what is happening with her during the
disease.

I think `Still AliceВґ movie is a great comparison with `The NotebookВґ, because the both films
shows us a very dramatic style of life that we did not even know it could be possible, but at the
same time is horrible, also that the family is always with the sick person giving them their support
and love all time, so if we find ourselves in a situation like this, wish we will not, we always have
to support our family in difficult times.
All to all, this movie is one of the best movies you could see, obviously if you like poignant
movies and you like to cry during the movie, that is why I recommend you to have a tissue box

Unjust Iraq War Essay
The Iraq war has been a very sensitive and divisive issue in today s society. Although we can not
ignore the cloud around this administration when it comes to potential incentives that going to war
presented, (such as oil for profits and retaliation to Saddam Hussein for the Gulf War and treatment
of President Bush Sr.), I will look beyond these potential motives to explain why the U.S.
involvement in the Iraq Warwas unjust simply because it doesn t fall into any of the four functions
of force authored by Robert J. Art. The United Statesignored the U.N. guidelines for peace, as well
as its public protest against the war, to strike Iraqwith an unprovoked attack. A war fought on the
premise that this country had ties to Osama Bin Laden,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The easiest way to prove that was to find the weapons of mass destruction or supported programs.
Leaving aside the fact that many do not accept this interpretation even in principle, the U.S.(
Britain, its primary military ally) needed to demonstrate that Iraq s weapons of mass destruction
compatibility was imminent. They failed to do so, both before and after the war. (276) This
strike doesn t fit as a defense of preemptive, (an attack in hours or days), nor does it fit for defense
of preventive, (an attack in months or years). The U.S. had successfully attacked a harmless
country. The next function of force according to Art is deterrence. This serves to prevent the enemy
from doing something that one doesn t want him to do and that he might otherwise be tempted to
do by threatening him with unacceptable punishment if he does. In essence this is the threat of
retaliation for deviating from one s requests. The effectiveness of the threat depends upon the
states credibility for carrying out the threat, and the United States being the superpower that it is,
had all the credibility needed to have the full attention of the Iraqi leader. This is why Hussein
complied with the UN in 2002 with the Security Council Resolution 1441. This act demanded that
Iraq re admit weapons inspectors and comply with previous resolutions it has ignored since the
1990s. Even after the U.N. inspector Hans Blix reported that there was no

Comparing Ashima And Ashoke s Culture
When Ashima and Ashoke move to America, they have two children, Nikhil and Sonia, who are
both quite immersed in American culture. While their children are like this, they try to hold onto
their own Indian cultural traditions. Because of that, the family can be divided many times. In
particular, Nikhil doesn t always respect his familys culturewhich proves to be very challenging for
Ashima and Ashoke because they remain attached to that culture when they move and want him to
grow up a certain way. Although the audience can not blame them for feeling this way, it is easy to
sympathize with Nikhil as well. Many children of immigrants embrace their heritage, but that is not
the case at all with Nikhil. He hides it from people, embarrassed by it, for most of the story. Of

Voting And Voting Behavior
Introduction
Throughout the world, scholars of political science have tried to introduce different approaches on
how to analyse voting in democratic states. This helps not just to analyse election results, but also
to predict future moves of the key agents in elections. This includes political parties, politicians,
interest groups and voters. Different models reache from sociological to psychological as well as
from economical to candidate focused approaches (Hague and Harrop 2013). Hence there is a
general argument of which theory is most sophisticated and enables us most to understand voting
behaviours.
This essay seeks to explore to what extend the Downs model of voting helps us to understand, in
which ways political parties align themselves in general elections. Political parties shall be seen as
Вґa team of people seeking to control the governing apparatus by gaining votes in a duly constituted
electionВґ (Down 1957, p.25). General elections shall be defined and restricted to democratic
elections and the state level, which are held within periodic intervals to determine its government.
Due to the limitations of this essay, this shall be restricted to a two party system and illustrated by
certain examples during both the 2008 and 2012 Presidential election of the United States of
America.
The Downs model of voting, introduced in An Economic Theory of Democracy (1957) by Anthony
Dows, develops two main hypotheses that (1) `parties act to maximise votes` (Downs 1957, p.

Literary Analysis Of The Lottery
The Lottery Literary Analysis Dystopian stories works depict a negative view of the way the
world is supposedly going in order to provide urgent propaganda for a change in direction . Often
these stories have many themes that can relate to the real world. In the dystopian story The
Lottery written by Shirley Jackson, many themes such as false hopes, hypocrisy, ritual, and mob
mentality are expressed throughout the story. In the story everyone in a small village gather in
the town square for the lottery, whoever gets chosen gets stoned to death by everyone in the
town including friends and loved ones. The use of different themes throughout the story relate
to the literary devices and universal storytelling elements setting, verbal irony, symbolism, and
social cohesion. A literary device element that was used in The Lottery was setting. Setting from
the story relates to the theme of false hopes. As it developed throughout the article, it shows that
it took place during the summer time in June in a small village of 300 people. The description of
the day states that it Was clear and sunny, fresh warmth of a full summer day; the flowers were
blossoming profusely and the grass was richly green (Jackson 1). The quote relates to the theme
of false hopes because when you read this you think it is going to be a nice day and good things
are going to happen. In reality this is a day that most do not look forward to, and a day that
carries the tradition of death. Verbal irony is used throughout the story as well and relates to the
theme of hypocrisy. Throughout the story, many things are said that might confuse you or not
make sense which is verbal irony. One of the characters, Old Man Warner said, Next thing you
know they ll be wanting to go back to living in caves (Jackson 4). This is ironic because he is
making it seem that cave men and their lifestyles are modern which in reality they are not.
Another example is told by Mrs. Delacroix, You re in time, though. They re still talking away up
there . Here she is talking to Tessi Hutchinson acting like their friends and everything is fine, but at
the end of the story when Tessi is the one being stoned, Mrs. Delacroix picks up the biggest rock to
throw.

Fitness
The word Fit stands for, Frequency, Intensity and Time. Frequency means how often the person
performs the type of physical activity that they are doing. Intensity means the effort and or

difficulty where it may result in hurting yourself. Time means how many minutes, hours, or even
how many days per week you put into the activity. To me, being fit means to be able to use your

Things such as Exercising, Age, damage to your muscle tissues, and your Inflammatory system
response, all contribute to Doms. It s basically a weakening and painful condition due to damage
to muscle fibers/tissues. Now, Doms, is not the same as your regular soreness. Unlike your
regular soreness, which can last for about 2 days, Doms occurs for several continuous days and
can occur to anyone. Young athletes are more likely to receive Doms because younger athletes
bodies aren t well adapted to the exercise they are performing and aren t ready to handle intense
workouts. They are less conditioned and lack muscle conditioning as well. This happens because
their Inflammatory system response is triggered by this person s exercising. It is being overused
and all because the person isn t used to and adjusted to their training zone. Older athletes receive
Doms because of their age and slow recovery responses. Due to age, their inflammatory system
responses are less efficient. There are many things that can help while Doms is taking place.

Duncan Lady Macbeth accidently hints that she was unable to kill Duncan herself and at this
point shows her first signs of mental weakness. After this point they basically change places,
Lady Macbeth becomes and insignificant and weak character in the play, who spirals
downwards into insanity. She grows so ill that the doctor says there s nothing he can do to help
her. The disease, he says, is beyond his practice, and what Lady Macbeth needs is the divine (a
priest or, God), not a physician . On the other hand Macbeth steps up and plans for himself to
murder many more people as his mental strength has significantly grown. Lady Macbeth s
transformation from that of a powerful and unnaturally masculine figure into an enfeebled woman
reestablishes a sense of natural gender order in the play. In other words, Lady Macbeth is put in

A Note On Dirk Niepoort
Introduction
In a short time, the Douro has created itself as Portugal s premium wine region. The change that is
now taking place in this most extraordinary wine regions. The suddenly joined vineyards hold some
delightful terroirs. Because the economic domination of the Port trade it is only lately that these
have been broadly oppressed to produce premium wines. Table winehas continuously been made
here but, with a couple of noteworthy omissions, it has been unattractive stuff, typically badly
made from low quality grapes that were leftover to the requirements of Port producers. Numerous
factors have united to change this situation. Most significantly, a critical mass of concurring
winemakers has arisen, passionate about making the very best wines that these extraordinary
terroirs are proficient of. Dirk Niepoort has been a key player in current developments in the
region. As well as producing some dazzlingly expressive Douro wines himself, he has been acting
as a ingredient by inspiring the leading wine producers to get together and spur each other on to
better things. (Goode 2016.)
Analysis
A few years later, events conspired to escalate the exports of Portuguese wine to England. In 1667
Colbert, first minister of Louis XIV, embarked on a series of measures to restrict the import of
English goods into France. This provoked Charles II of England into increasing the duty on French
wines and later forbidding their import altogether, obliging the English wine trade to seek

Komunyaka Vietnam Veterans Memorial
To me it seems as if Komunyakaa himself is the main character in the poem, it seems his face is
sort of like a reflection in the dark granite that he is facing. Then he goes to state that he wouldn t
cry, but it seems he is very emotional about something. I m stone. I m flesh (Line 5) maybe
saying he feels that he s strong and manly, but he is feeling weak because he is crying,
mentioning he s flesh because after all he is human and humans have emotions that you
sometimes can t really control. It seems he is very aware of these feelings. It seems his only
way out is to turn away from the wall, I think maybe he is trapped somewhere surrounded by
these granite walls he seems to be facing and I do not think he can escape them. I think it is
interesting how he came up with that number of names at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, 58,022
(Line 14) it is so specific, its not like he actually counted them all, maybe it was just a guess or
maybe he knows more then he is telling, maybe he was a Vietnam Veteran.... Show more content on

Mechanical Engineering And Their Knowledge Of...
Environmental engineers use their knowledge of biology and chemistry to create solutions to
environmental problems. They are associated with controlling water and air pollution, recycling
and ways of improving it, public health issues, and waste disposal. Environmental engineers
evaluate hazardous waste, advise on how to treat and contain the hazard, and develop regulations on
how to prevent mishaps with the hazard in the future. They design water supply and industrial
wastewater treatment systems, research the impact on the environment a proposed construction
project will have, analyze scientific data, and do quality control checks. Environmental engineers
are concerned with not just local environmental issues, but worldwide issues as well. They are also
involved in the protection of wildlife. Many environmental engineers work as consultants, help their
clients to comply with government regulations, prevent environmental damage, and clean up
hazardous sites and any waste on them.
Mechanical engineers design, manufacture, develop, research, and test machines, tools, engines,

Becoming A Neonatal Nurse Practitioner
For as long as I can remember, I have always desired to work in the healthcare field. At an
extremely young age, I wanted to become a doctor. Later on in life, I wanted to be a pharmacist.
During my sophomore year of high school, I finally decided that I wanted to become a nurse. At
this time, I did not know what kind of nurse I wanted to become, but I knew that nursing was my
purpose. What I found to be the most captivating was the broadness of the field of nursing.
Pursuing this further, I could work in any environment that I longed for. After further researching
this particular field, I finally decided that I wanted to be a Neonatal nurse practitioner. Neonatal
nurse practitioners serve as primary caregivers for premature babies and other newborns who
require special care due to low birth rate, respitory distress, congenital heart defects or various
other abnormalities and disorders (education portal). The road to becoming a Neonatal nurse
practitioner is not easy. Of course, one must obtain undergraduate education before beginning
neonatal studies. Community colleges offer associates degrees in nursing and four year
institutions offer a bachelors. Aspiring nurse practitioners must earn a master s degree or doctor of
nursing practice degree in Neonatal Nursing. These programs generally take two to three years.
Training is provided by the employer after graduation during class and in the NICU through a

Human Primates And Human Primate
For my final paper for this class I will be going over and portraying the behavior of non human

non human and human primate can somehow explain the theory behind evolution. In addition to

statement, despite its differences and similarities between non human primates and human primates
behavior, can evolution be understood differently when comparing the two through various

The Middle Ages And The Fall Of Rome
The Middle Ages began with the fall of Rome and lasted till 1450 C.E. This era started as a very
difficult and dangerous time for most people who struggled to barely survive. They faced
difficulties such as hunger and attacks from vicious barbarians. One system that helped too face
these problems was Feudalism, the economic and political system that was developed and used in
Medieval Europe. This system worked with a hierarchy; Monarchs were at the top and going down
nobles, knights, and peasants. Everyone in this system protected each other. Knights were expected
to protect the kingdom. Nobles and monarchs were required to provide protection for each other.
Another part of Europe that helped people to face life difficulties was the Roman Catholic Church.
The church helped make big developments during the middle agesspecifically in education. Monks
would immerse their lives in learning about the world and the universe. These were the only people
in Western Europe developing their knowledge of their world during the middle ages, which was a
big improvement from there being no learning. Feudalism and the Roman Catholic Church did
provide more stability and security for the people of Western Europe during the Middle Ages. The
Feudal System provided more stability in everyday life compared to the time during barbarian
attacks, feudalism also provided security through the hierarchy, and the Roman Catholic Church
created stability and security through education.

In the modern definition, money laundering occurs every time any transaction takes place or
relationship is formed which involves any form of property or benefit, whether it is tangible or
intangible, which is derived from criminal activity (Hopton, p.2). In relation to this, it is also
important to point out that criminal proceeds do not have to be moved in order to launder them
(Hopton, 2009). The modern definition of money laundering highlights important points that
describe money laundering. Contrary to the common belief that laundering only involves illegal
money, there are also cases wherein the money is legal but the failure of an individual to properly
declare it as income on a tax return is also recognized as laundering. Furthermore, the traditional
view of money laundering involves the purpose that criminals result to laundering in order to
identification, punishment, and confiscation of their ill gotten wealth. The traditional perspective
is not incorrect but it is also essential to highlight that the primary aim of criminals is not the
conversion of property but rather the need to hide the fact that they actually own the property. The
purpose of the criminals is to remove the link between them and the property so that it cannot be
related to the criminal offence that they wish to avoid. As a result, money laundering is more

feelings to us. My uncle has been patiently waiting for a response directly from Victor as well. If
we do not hear from my cousin soon, I assume Uncle will travel there to check on the wellbeing

wrong with my dear cousin. I hope the scarlet fever has not also taken hold of Victor. I do doubt

Case Study Of Butler s Chocolates
Butler s Chocolates is an Irish, family owned company set up in the year 1932. It was founded
by Marion Butler, a pioneer who began creating her own luxury chocolates by hand in Lad Lane
in Dublin and named it Chez Nous Chocolates . Marion Butler was originally born in India but
moved to Ireland when she was very young where she set up this company and ran it until 1959.
She then sold it to Seamus Sorensen and the Sorensen family are still running this business to date.
(About Us: Butlers Chocolates, n.d.).
The company set up their first retail store in 1960 in the Grafton Arcade and their first Butler s
Chocolate cafГ© in 1998 on Wicklow Street in Dublin. The company rebranded in honour of
Marion Butler in 1984 and renamed the company Butlers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

All of these reports will help the management and directors of Butlers make decisions for the
future of the business. They can spot different sales trends in the luxury chocolates. If a certain
chocolate or flavour is not selling they could make the decision to discontinue the particular sweet

Transaction Processing Systems
Because Butlers Chocolates own many retail stores and cafes, the company would mainly go by
the point of sale concept which David Ingram describes as the place and time at which a
transaction takes place, whenever a buyer and seller come together for the purpose of conducting
a transaction (Ingram, n.d.). This would include when customers pay for their goods by cash
over the counter straight into cash registers or by card with credit card processors. Ingram
explains how this point of sale comes hand in hand with transaction processing systems (Ingram,
n.d.). Butler s website provides customers with a service where they have the ability to purchase
goods online and have them delivered to their home. This booking system is a real time processing
system. When a customer buys a product off the company online, they receive an email confirming
their delivery when their package has been dispatched and they can also track their order. They
claim to make an effort to process

Fluid Resuscitation Protocols And Interventions Have...
Fluid Resuscitation in Burn Patients
Fluid resuscitation protocols and interventions have established guidelines for nursing care of burn
patients in hospital settings. Although these protocols aid the nurse in making treatment decisions,
the nurse must first understand the fluid pathophysiology of burns, the different fluid alternatives,
the amount of fluid volume infusions allowed and their effects within the patient s body, as well as,
any complications related to fluid resuscitation for burn patients. In addition, fluid resuscitation
should be carefully and diligently monitored to ensure the main goal of therapy which is to attain
adequate tissue perfusion while minimizing patient s complications.
Understanding the fluid pathophysiology of burns
Local and systemic inflammatory response occurs within the body due to fluid shifts from
intravascular compartments into the interstitium caused by changes in capillary permeability. The
body s specific response to burns directly correlates with the total body surface (TBSA)
percentage affected. Patients with 25% TBSA burns experience an increase in generalized
capillary permeability, at 30% TBSA burns patients are affected by a disruption on the cellular ion
gradient lasting several days and requiring a longer hospitalization stay, and patients with 50%
TBSA burns end up losing half of their fluid resuscitation volume due to increased leaks into the
non thermally injured tissue (Diver). Several studies coincide that the

Cesar Chavez Quotes
Cesar Chavez There s no turning back... We will win. We are winning because ours is a
revolution of mind and heart... This quote is said by Cesar Chavez, he is expressing that if you
put your heart and mind into something you think is important without turning back, you will
then achieve it. Cesar Chavez had a great impact on the world because he was not selfish. He
dedicated his life to helping farm workers. Cesar was a labor leader, and he made a major impact
on the National Farm Workers Association. Cesar Chavez was known as a hard worker, a very
generous person, and fought for equality. To start off, when Cesar was young, he worked on his
family s farm gathering eggs, bringing clean water to his house and, he also took care of the

Cesar believed in non violent acts as much more effective than violent ones. Cesar Chavez
believed in equality but not in violence. He thought leading marches would be a successful way
to get what he wanted. His first boycott was against the Delano grape growers. According to
Ricky Tejada Flores Hundreds of students, religious workers and labor activists talked to
consumers in front of markets, asking them to do a simple thing: Help the farm workers by not
buying grapes. At its height, over 13 million Americans supported the Delano grape boycott. On
September 8, 1965, Filipino American grape workers walked out on a strike protesting for years
of poor pay and conditions of work. These Filipino American grape growers asked Cesar Chavez
to join them on the strike. Cesar led a 300 mile walk from Delano to Sacramento. The strike
turned into a boycott and lasted over two years and a half. At this point some strikers were getting
impatient. Some were even thinking about retaliating with violence to prove their manliness. But,
Cesar rejected that idea and decided to fast. He lasted twenty five days without eating anything
only drinking water. The fasting worked, all talk of violence stopped and everyone was rededicated
to nonviolent striking and boycotting. By 1970, the grape boycott was a complete success. Grape
growers finally signed their first union contracts, granting workers better pay, benefits, and

American Beauty
American Beauty A Sociological Movie Review American Beauty, a film that was written by
Allan Ball and directed by Sam Mendes in 1999 is a unique piece that demonstrates many
sociological themes throughout the development of the plot. The characters strive to portray
themselves as the All American Family. They live in a nice house, drive nice cars and seem
perfectly normal to the general public, but the audience is allowed to view the deep set issues that
plague the main characters; Lester Burnham (Kevin Spacey), Carolyn Burnham (Annette Bening),
Jane Burnham (Thora Birch), and Jane s best friend Angela Hayes (Mena Suvari). As the plot
develops there are many obvious parallels relating the lives of the characters to Merton s Strain...

During the course of the film, Lester Burnham goes through a large change. When we first meet
Lester he is living his life as a ritualist. He goes to work every day because that is what he is
supposed to do, but he puts in little to no effort and he has little regard for the completion of his
goals. He has no motivation. His marriage is failing and he has an empty relationship with his
daughter. Lester says both my wife and daughter think I m this gigantic loser, and they re right, I
have lost something. I m not exactly sure what it is, but I know I didn t always feel
thisВ…sedated. But you know what; it s never too late to get it back (American Beauty). From
this statement we can see that there is going to be a change in Lester over the course of the
movie. When he meets Jane s friend Angela we can see an immediate change in Lester. He lusts
for her constantly and his life becomes consumed by trying to spend time with her and help her
to be attracted to him. He suddenly becomes more enthusiastic about life. He describes this as
feeling that he had been in a coma for twenty years and he is finally waking up. After this Lester
completely alters his lifestyle. He leaves his job, begins to work out everyday, buys his dream car
and starts smoking pot with Ricky Fitz. Before he met Angela, Carolyn was in charge of everything
that happened around the house and she made all of the

The East India Company
The East India Company was a British joint stock company establish on the 31st of December,
1600 under the original name The Company of Merchants of London trading into the East Indies.
Over the next hundreds of years the Company set a sail attempting to find riches in trade on their
journeys to these new lands. They found value in crops such as indigo, salt, cotton, silk, opium
and other cash crops that the barren land of Europe lacked. This would be the company that would
set sail to the land of Indiaand dominate its soil from the middle of 1700 s to the middle of the 1800
s. In a little over fifty years the East India Companywas transformed from a body of traders
controlling a scattered group of commercial settlements round the coasts of India into the rulers of
provinces with a population popularly supposed in Britain to contain fifty or sixty million
inhabitants. The Company was able to find its growth and power from wealthy merchants and
aristocrats that would invest their money into the Company after seeing how successful they were
becoming. A healthy amount of these wealthy investors were part of the British Parliament. This
intertwined government views and beliefs with the business side of views and beliefs. With more
and more backing though, the Company slowly grew a ship or two every now and then until they
were a full fleet of trade ships moving massive amounts of crops. Colonies were eventually set up
and the land was taken for the new Englishmen, who

the people of Odessa, where the post economic boom of the oil business has left the town in a

He is eventually cleared to play through court cases and relentless commitment by the school s
administration. In the midst of all the madness and all of the hype surrounding high school
football in Texas, it is clear that there is no recognition of the importance of education. There is
so much emphasis put into high school football in these communities like Odessa that athletes
pour all of their hopes and dreams into it. Ultimately once these you athletes are eventually
stripped of the game of football, their futures are jeopardized and their lives are irrevocably
damaged. They are finally exposed to the real world more underprepared than ever. Fundamentally
all that is left is a few memories of athletic stardom and still an inadequate education. Bissinger does
a good job of depicting Permian s sex roles which emerge from the social significance surrounding
the football team. Gender inferiority is abundant throughout Permian s socialization. The football
identity was something that was revered. The girls of Permian desired anything having to do with
their football team, while their proximity to the epicenter of the program gave them more honorable
status within the schools social

Political Conflict In Riyadh And Iran
The latest developments that just unfolded in Riyadh are unsettling and carry a high risk of a
regional confrontation. An assertive Saudi crown prince is determined to consolidate power by
purging dissidents at home while escalating rhetoric abroad.
Such a diversionary approach, seemingly employed to shift attention away from domestic turmoil,
is challenging an emboldened Iranian regime whose armed proxies have been strengthening their
hold from the Levant to Yemen. While these circumstances are tantamount to an imminent war
scenario between Riyadh and Tehran, there are indications that it might not actually be the case.
On November 4, within the span of few hours, two major events took place: Lebanese Prime

Two Saudi ambassadors in Iraq and Lebanon were appointed last week, showing a willingness to
engage. On October 25, Saudi Arabia and Iran finally agreed to have the Swiss government as a
go between for consular and diplomatic services, after breaking off diplomatic ties in early 2016.
Riyadh has returned to Iraq after a long absence, hoping to increase political influence and explore
a new market. A military confrontation with Iran is counterproductive to Saudi engagement in Iraq.
While in Syria, Saudi Arabia has been keeping a low profile with an influence restricted to elements
in the exiled civilian opposition.
Third, a confrontation is not in Iran s interest for now. The Iranian regime, which has been more
united since President Hassan Rouhani s reelection in May, is focused on reaping the economic
benefits of the nuclear deal and preserving the gains made in Syria.
Mohammad Ali Jafari, commander of Iran s Revolutionary Guard, announced on October 31 that
Iran will be restricting its long range missiles to 2,000km, which can reach Israel and US interests
in the Middle East. The move was meant to reassure European countries that are beyond that
missile range.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, who visited Tehran on November 1, convinced Tehran to tone
down the rhetoric against the US. While Russia is focused on advancing a political solution in
Syria, Iran sees that the Syrian war will

The Pros And Cons Of Potassium
Since Dmitri Mendeleev created his periodic table of elements in 1869, scientists have worked to
identify the materials that make up the world around us. While many discoveries were made
through fairly benign methods, there have been some horrifying deaths along the way.
Marie and Pierre Curie s work with radioactive material killed the married couple. In fact, their
notebooks are still so highly contaminated that researchers have chosen to lock them away.
There has always been a bit of excitement when a new element is discovered. In some cases,
merchants and advertisers have unknowingly exposed thousands of people to dangerous chemicals,
such as selling water laced with radium as a cure for ailments of the endocrine system.

People v. Molineux is considered a landmark case because an appeals court decided that the
evidence regarding Barnet s death should not have been allowed during the trial. The court s
reasoning was that Molineux had been denied the presumption of innocence that is guaranteed by
US law. Molineux was acquitted after a retrial.
3 Potassium
Potassium is an essential but volatile element that is needed by the human body to regulate
muscular contractions. Although most of us do not get enough potassium in our diets, it is
important to note that potassium in its pure form is extremely reactive. Therefore, this element is
usually used in one of its compound forms such as saltpeter or potash.
Potassium chloride is considered a double edged sword. Small doses can be used to treat
deficiencies, but large doses can stop the heart. For this reason, it has been used in lethal injections,
both legal and illegal.
There are a number of suspected mercy killings by doctors or nurses who wished to help their
patients escape the pain of possibly terminal diseases. Unfortunately, there are also people who
have randomly killed those in their care simply because they

Examples Of Lucid Dreaming
A friend of mine, named Johnny, was certain that, in the moment the question was asked, he was
sitting and talking with me. To show him that he can t really be certain about that, I would give
him the example of dreaming. When your dreaming you never doubt that you what you see and
you believe that you experiencing those things. Of course Johnny would say something like well I
know that I am awake and that he could tell the difference , but when we are dreamingwe don t see
it that way.
Dreams take place in our mind, and while they are happening there is no way to tell the difference
unless you are lucid dreaming. Johnny could very well just be having a vivid dream where he is sat

HRM Best Practices and Transfers to the Asia Pacific Region
Table 21.1 Selective Research on Best HRM Practices by Author

Approaching the second decade of the 21st century provides a fresh opportunity to think about
kinds of possible management. In this regard, the area of human resource management (HRM) has
become even more important to business, policymaking, and nations, including in the
economically dynamic Asia Pacific region. Most of the Asian economies had rapid growth rates
for the past two to three decades, although uneven from year to year, and were then hit by the
1997 Asian Financial Crisis. Interestingly, now the very same HRM practices formerly seen as
paragons (and taken as best practices by some), ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, in best practice thinking, a universal prescription is preferred (Boxall Purcell, 2003, p. 61).
One strand in the area is the development of lists of best practices. Among the most famous are
those of Pfeffer (1994, 1998), whose list of 16 (of relevance here included employment security,
selectivity in selection, promotion from within, high pay, incentive pay, wage compression, and
training and skill development), later narrowed to seven (of relevance here were employment
security, selective and sophisticated hiring, high compensation contingent on performance,
extensive training and development, reduction of status differentials, and sharing information self
managed teams/teamworking; see overviews of other lists in Boxall Purcell, 2003; Redman
Wilkinson, 2006). Some take a broad definition that best practices are those that can add value to
the business. Others are more specific and pinpoint certain practices in particular situations. For
others, they are those present in successful and/or high profile companies. Indeed, research on best
practices including collective issues of work organization and employee voice is rare (Boxall
Purcell, 2003).
Recent studies (Tables 21.1 sorted by author and 21.2 by practice) typically include comprehensive
employee recruitment procedures, incentive compensation, performance management systems,

The Hindu Marriage Ceremony
Marriage is highly thought of and a very important rite of passage in the Hindu culture. There are
many aspects and procedures included in a Hindu Marriage ceremony. Some of which will be
discussed in this essay. The Hindu culture is very traditional and religious, especially when it
comes to Marriage. Marriageis a ceremony that celebrates a woman and a man s love for one
another. Marriage is the transition from the first stage of life of education and learning, to the
second stage of life, building a household and raising a family. The bride and groom must go
through a few processes before they are pronounced married. The ceremony is put in place to ensure
the women and men getting married know the commitments that need to be abided by in order to
be a married couple. In a Hindu Marriage Ceremony, there are many features throughout the
ceremony that symbolise particular things.
Symbols are very important in a Hindu Marriage Ceremony. The bride of the weddingoften wears
clothes or jewellery to symbolise or remind her of particular roles that come with a marriage. An
example of a symbol that women wear to symbolise they are married is toe rings. Married Hindu
women wear toe rings to remind themselves of their marital status and the restrictions that come
with being a married woman. Some other symbols worn by a woman is bangles. A married Hindu
woman is prohibited from leaving her arms bare once she is married, therefore, she must wear
bangles to signify that she is

  • 2. Castle Doctrine Castle Doctrine In Peace Like A River, written by Leif Enger, an argument about castle doctrine is seen, when Davy shot Finch and Basca through the skulls. The definition of the castle doctrine is that an individual has no duty to retreat when in his or her home and can use violent force to harm or kill the intruder (Do Castle Doctrine Laws Impact Violent Crime). Because of Florida publishing the law, the rest of the US decided to adopt the law. The law, Castle Doctrine, revolutionized the rest of the U.S, by allowing people rebel against unwanted people in their home or property in respectable or delinquent ways. In a myriad of the states, Castle Doctrine is self defense in many instances. One example is when Joe Horn, a 61 year old retiree, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of castle doctrine being manipulated is when Diren Dede, a 17 year old German exchange student, was fatally shot in the head and arm when he entered the garage of Markus Kaarma asking for help in Missoula, Mont. , on April 27. Kaarma said it was self defense, but a Montana jury recently found him guilty of deliberate homicide (Lee, ProPublica Suevon). Additionally in April, 22 year old Cordell Jude shot and killed Daniel Adkins Jr., a pedestrian who walked in front of Jude s car just as Jude was pulling up to the window of a Taco Bell drive thru in Arizona. Jude claimed Adkins had waved his arms in the air, wielding what Jude thought was a metal pipe, but it was actually a dog leash. As a result, Jude shot the 29 year old Adkins in the chest (Lee, ProPublica Suevon). As a result, Jude Adkins was arrested for the wrong utilization of castle doctrine (Lee, ProPublica Suevon). Because of these foolish reasons, the US death rate is twice more than it should be since 2008 (Why Gun Violence Can t Be Our New Normal). These examples show that castle doctrine can be used for no reason at all. Consequently, these cases are all located within the United States and relate to the age range of 15 30 years old. The castle doctrine law should only be used for real matters, such as thieving, murder, or domestic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. A Few Miles South Of Soledad, The Salinas River A few miles south of Soledad, the Salinas River drops in close to the hillside bank and runs deep and green. The water is warm too, for it has slipped twinkling over the yellow sands in the sunlight before reaching the narrow pool. On one side of the river the golden foothill slopes curve up to the strong and rocky Gabilan Mountains, but on the valley side the water is lined with trees willows fresh and green with every spring, carrying in their lower leaf junctures the debris of the winter s flooding; and sycamores with mottled, white, recumbent limbs and branches that arch over the pool. On the sandy bank under the trees the leaves lie deep and so crisp that a lizard makes a great skittering if he runs among them. Rabbits come out of the brush to sit on the sand in the evening, and the damp flats are covered with the night tracks of coons, and with the spread pads of dogs from the ranches, and with the split wedge tracks of deer that come to drink in the dark. There is a path through the willows and among the sycamores, a path beaten hard by boys coming down from the ranches to swim in the deep pool, and beaten hard by tramps who come wearily down from the highway in the evening to jungle up near water. In front of the low horizontal limb of a giant sycamore there is an ash pile made by many fires; the limb is worn smooth by men who have sat on it. Evening of a hot day started the little wind to moving among the leaves. The shade climbed up the hills toward the top. On ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Oedipa Research Paper Humans are curious creatures who observe the world to find meaning in life, but the world is not clear cut, meaning there are no definite answers. Furthermore, since a single truth does not exist in the world, the way people view something may be different from another s view. People try to find purpose in their life, but this can change over time as with many things. One example is how writing styles change from era to era: Post modernist writing takes place after World II when the writing style changes from Romance, with nature and love encompassing all, to Post Modernism, when everything is terrible and filled with corruption. People can interpret things in various ways which can be a result of their environment, focal point, and purpose... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In a play that can be interpreted in many ways she only notices the one word Trystero, which is a part of the secret society (Pynchon 58). Of all the various meanings that Oedipa could have taken from the play, she takes the one that is associated with the society. Humans see what they want to see (Riordan 137). In Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, gods exist, but mortals cannot view them. It is not a matter of actual vision, but more so what people can comprehend. Most people could not view gods in their god form and therefore try to picture them as something they are more familiar with. This means that when people are handed different options and views they will take the one that is the easiest for them to comprehend. There is a phenomenon known as the Backfire Effect which states that when people s belief is undermined and proven wrong, then they will have an even stronger belief in it (David McRaney). McRaney viewed a study where false newspapers were given to people before truthful ones and most people believed the first, untruthful newspaper rather than the second, truthful one. People will stick with their beliefs through thick and thin and become near sighted in the end. They do not want things to change that they had a strong belief in and will neglect any information that says otherwise. People do not like change and that can cloud their judgment, but this should not stop them from their purpose of having a belief in life and instead should let them look for an even greater meaning ... Whether it was a good or a bad outcome, her stories at the hospital were always an inspiration to me. • 9. Essay about Christian Teachings on Wealth and Poverty Christianity teaches us that wealth is not what you need to enter heaven. To enter heaven you must be caring and share your riches with the poor and needy. As a result of Jesus teachings, the early churches shared all they had to make sure no one was in need. Jesus taught us that the pursuing of wealth could lead you into temptations. He said that we will be judged not on the size of our bank balance, but on how we have helped those who are less fortunate. A well known Christian teaching goes as follows: It is harder for a rich man to go to heaven than it is for a camel to go through the eye of a needle . This means it is impossible for a camel to go through the eye of a needle.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This quote is telling us that being rich, having power or fame, or having any human achievements is not true happiness. True happiness comes from helping your fellow man. Therefore the Catholic Churches view is clear that they think being self centred and narrow minded is the wrong way to go about life. Catholics believe that you be able to realise the suffering of the other people around you and help those people. To summarise, Christianity teaches us that we must share our riches with the poor and needy if we want to go to heaven. Greed and selfishness is unchristian. Christians today still follow Jesus teachings by doing the following things: В· Giving clothes to charity shops such as Oxfam. В· Donating money to charity. В· Doing voluntary work to collect donations to charity. В· Islamic teachings on wealth and povertyFunded races and other activities. The Islamic religion teaches its followers to base their lives around the five pillars. One of these pillars is called Zakah, Zakah is meant to purify the money you leave so it cannot harm you in the future. Muslims have very strict rules, one of which is not to gamble. The reason being is because it is a sinful temptation and is against what the Islamic Religion teaches. • 10. Buying Coffee From A Coffee Shop When I think about all the purchases I make on a somewhat regular basis, the major item that stands out the most to me is coffee. I can confidently say that a coffee from a coffee shop is an item that I absolutely by on a daily basis. Some other items I purchase somewhat regularly, but on a less frequent basis than a daily coffee, would be weekly or biweekly groceries. A little less frequently I will make beauty purchases. I would say on a monthly basis I will buy hair products and make up. Although there are many other purchase that I make within a given year, I would say that these items are the consistent ones that I continue purchase regularly. When it comes to buying coffee, I don t give it a whole lot of thought. I am not picky when it comes to my coffee, any kind will do. The sole purpose of purchasing it is to give me a boost of caffeine in the morning to start my day. I never really thought too much about how buying a coffee would have any affects on the environment, but being forced to think about it really opens up my eyes. Coffee that people grab on the go will either come in plastic or styrofoam. I will admit that I am guilty of not always properly disposing of these cups in the proper recyclingbins, and I have seen first hand that I am not alone. • 11. Rhetorical Analysis Of President Ronald Reagan s Speech On January 28, 1986, as millions of Americans watched on live television and in person, the Challenger space shuttle exploded and broke up over the Atlantic Ocean just moments after its launch. This space mission was significant for several reason, among them was that it would be the first time where the space shuttlewould carry a civilian into outer space. Also, there was a frenzy of interest for Americans as the U.S. and Russians were locked in a space race for space exploration supremacy. Instead. President Ronald Reagan was left with the unenviable duty of consoling a nation that had just witnessed the most significant disaster in American history. Hours after the national disaster, President Reagan sat behind his desk, and steadfastly delivered a set piece speech from the Oval office. He invited the American audience to listen with a formal, but respectful introduction Ladies and Gentlemen . His tone was firm, and as he calmly addressed the tragic events from earlier in the day. The opening lines set a somber tone for the rest of the speech as he stated this day for mourning and remembering and declaring the tragedy a national loss , But President Reagan did not want his fellow Americans to just dwell on this tragedy. Then she goes to talk to a conference and she starts to forget little things and her memory started to fade; after a while she visited a doctor and she had various brain studies to know what she could possibly have. Alice likes to spend time on her own and to run all over the city. All to all, this movie is one of the best movies you could see, obviously if you like poignant movies and you like to cry during the movie, that is why I recommend you to have a tissue box near, because this movie really broke my heart and I cried so much that I really need Kleenex in that moment, but I did not have, but also to have a very close friend to hold or even just to cry ... Although we can not ignore the cloud around this administration when it comes to potential incentives that going to war presented, (such as oil for profits and retaliation to Saddam Hussein for the Gulf War and treatment of President Bush Sr.), I will look beyond these potential motives to explain why the U.S. involvement in the Iraq Warwas unjust simply because it doesn t fall into any of the four functions of force authored by Robert J. Art. The United Statesignored the U.N. guidelines for peace, as well as its public protest against the war, to strike Iraqwith an unprovoked attack. The easiest way to prove that was to find the weapons of mass destruction or supported programs. Leaving aside the fact that many do not accept this interpretation even in principle, the U.S.( Britain, its primary military ally) needed to demonstrate that Iraq s weapons of mass destruction compatibility was imminent. They failed to do so, both before and after the war. (276) This strike doesn t fit as a defense of preemptive, (an attack in hours or days), nor does it fit for defense of preventive, (an attack in months or years). The U.S. had successfully attacked a harmless country. The next function of force according to Art is deterrence. This serves to prevent the enemy from doing something that one doesn t want him to do and that he might otherwise be tempted to do by threatening him with unacceptable punishment if he does. In essence this is the threat of retaliation for deviating from one s requests. The effectiveness of the threat depends upon the states credibility for carrying out the threat, and the United States being the superpower that it is, had all the credibility needed to have the full attention of the Iraqi leader. This is why Hussein complied with the UN in 2002 with the Security Council Resolution 1441. This act demanded that Iraq re admit weapons inspectors and comply with previous resolutions it has ignored since the 1990s. Even after the U.N. inspector Hans Blix reported that there was no ... Although the audience can not blame them for feeling this way, it is easy to sympathize with Nikhil as well. Many children of immigrants embrace their heritage, but that is not the case at all with Nikhil. He hides it from people, embarrassed by it, for most of the story. Of course that upsets Ashima and Ashoke and makes them want to push their son into accepting the Indian culture as his own.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 15. Voting And Voting Behavior Introduction Throughout the world, scholars of political science have tried to introduce different approaches on how to analyse voting in democratic states. This helps not just to analyse election results, but also to predict future moves of the key agents in elections. This includes political parties, politicians, interest groups and voters. Different models reache from sociological to psychological as well as from economical to candidate focused approaches (Hague and Harrop 2013). Hence there is a general argument of which theory is most sophisticated and enables us most to understand voting behaviours. This essay seeks to explore to what extend the Downs model of voting helps us to understand, in which ways political parties align themselves in general elections. Political parties shall be seen as Вґa team of people seeking to control the governing apparatus by gaining votes in a duly constituted electionВґ (Down 1957, p.25). General elections shall be defined and restricted to democratic elections and the state level, which are held within periodic intervals to determine its government. Due to the limitations of this essay, this shall be restricted to a two party system and illustrated by certain examples during both the 2008 and 2012 Presidential election of the United States of America. The Downs model of voting, introduced in An Economic Theory of Democracy (1957) by Anthony Dows, develops two main hypotheses that (1) `parties act to maximise votes` (Downs 1957, p. ... • 16. Literary Analysis Of The Lottery The Lottery Literary Analysis Dystopian stories works depict a negative view of the way the world is supposedly going in order to provide urgent propaganda for a change in direction . Often these stories have many themes that can relate to the real world. In the dystopian story The Lottery written by Shirley Jackson, many themes such as false hopes, hypocrisy, ritual, and mob mentality are expressed throughout the story. In the story everyone in a small village gather in the town square for the lottery, whoever gets chosen gets stoned to death by everyone in the town including friends and loved ones. The use of different themes throughout the story relate to the literary devices and universal storytelling elements setting, verbal irony, symbolism, and social cohesion. A literary device element that was used in The Lottery was setting. Setting from the story relates to the theme of false hopes. As it developed throughout the article, it shows that it took place during the summer time in June in a small village of 300 people. The description of the day states that it Was clear and sunny, fresh warmth of a full summer day; the flowers were blossoming profusely and the grass was richly green (Jackson 1). The quote relates to the theme of false hopes because when you read this you think it is going to be a nice day and good things are going to happen. In reality this is a day that most do not look forward to, and a day that carries the tradition of death. Verbal irony is used throughout the story as well and relates to the theme of hypocrisy. Throughout the story, many things are said that might confuse you or not make sense which is verbal irony. One of the characters, Old Man Warner said, Next thing you know they ll be wanting to go back to living in caves (Jackson 4). This is ironic because he is making it seem that cave men and their lifestyles are modern which in reality they are not. Another example is told by Mrs. Delacroix, You re in time, though. They re still talking away up there . Here she is talking to Tessi Hutchinson acting like their friends and everything is fine, but at the end of the story when Tessi is the one being stoned, Mrs. Delacroix picks up the biggest rock to throw. ... This era started as a very difficult and dangerous time for most people who struggled to barely survive. They faced difficulties such as hunger and attacks from vicious barbarians. One system that helped too face these problems was Feudalism, the economic and political system that was developed and used in Medieval Europe. This system worked with a hierarchy; Monarchs were at the top and going down nobles, knights, and peasants. Everyone in this system protected each other. Knights were expected to protect the kingdom. Nobles and monarchs were required to provide protection for each other. Another part of Europe that helped people to face life difficulties was the Roman Catholic Church. The church helped make big developments during the middle agesspecifically in education. Monks would immerse their lives in learning about the world and the universe. These were the only people in Western Europe developing their knowledge of their world during the middle ages, which was a big improvement from there being no learning. In the modern definition, money laundering occurs every time any transaction takes place or relationship is formed which involves any form of property or benefit, whether it is tangible or intangible, which is derived from criminal activity (Hopton, p.2). In relation to this, it is also important to point out that criminal proceeds do not have to be moved in order to launder them (Hopton, 2009). The modern definition of money laundering highlights important points that describe money laundering. Contrary to the common belief that laundering only involves illegal money, there are also cases wherein the money is legal but the failure of an individual to properly declare it as income on a tax return is also recognized as laundering. Furthermore, the traditional view of money laundering involves the purpose that criminals result to laundering in order to identification, punishment, and confiscation of their ill gotten wealth. The traditional perspective is not incorrect but it is also essential to highlight that the primary aim of criminals is not the conversion of property but rather the need to hide the fact that they actually own the property. The purpose of the criminals is to remove the link between them and the property so that it cannot be related to the criminal offence that they wish to avoid. Fluid Resuscitation in Burn Patients Fluid resuscitation protocols and interventions have established guidelines for nursing care of burn patients in hospital settings. Although these protocols aid the nurse in making treatment decisions, the nurse must first understand the fluid pathophysiology of burns, the different fluid alternatives, the amount of fluid volume infusions allowed and their effects within the patient s body, as well as, any complications related to fluid resuscitation for burn patients. In addition, fluid resuscitation should be carefully and diligently monitored to ensure the main goal of therapy which is to attain adequate tissue perfusion while minimizing patient s complications.
