The Hobbit s Major Accomplishments
In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit, this was the start to his rise in literature with many
best sellers and movies based on his bestselling books. He was won many awards for his work
including the International Fantasy Award for Fiction for the Lord of the Rings novel in 1957. He
was well known in the writing community for his achievements on the Lord of the Ringsas well as
in poetry. In order to comprehend Tolkien you must first analyze his early life, his works, and how
the world around him shaped his stories. Tolkien was a worldwide sensation to everyone who read
his books and inspired many people into writing.
Born January 3, 1892 in South Africa to Arthur and Mabel Tolkien. His father was a bank manager

It won 12 grammys and was loved by everyone that saw it, when the other two movies came out
they averaged about the same in total earnings for each movie. The movies hold 17 out of 30
Academy Award nominations, the movie Return of the King is distinct by being the only fantasy
film ever to have won the Academy Award for best picture. This goes to prove the effect that his
writing had on the people around him, the detail that he had in each book gave the reader a clear
and effective picture into the world that he had created. Tolkien loved children he had created The
Hobbit for children, Tolkien once said Children are not a class. They are merely human beings at
different stages of maturity. (Biography.com) This shows his competition for children knowing
that they are not all they same and that they shouldn t be treated like a seperate class from the
adults. He was raised in a time when children were seen and not heard . He wanted children to be
apart of life and didn t think it was right for them to be treated like they were different. Because
his son showed the same amount of curiosity and wonder for the world he finished multiple parts
of the vast world that Tolkien created some of these works included The Silmarillion, and The
Children of Hurin . These works are prequels to the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, they give the
history of Middle Earth as it goes up to the point of the rings being made. At the end of his writing
career he says I wish i would never have wrote the books this is because he was always bombarded
by fan and could never get any peace. Everywhere he and his family went they were swarmed by
fans, some would even go so far to call him and ask questions about the holes in the story plot.
Some people were not fans of his work and called him a

Wayne Hunting Shoes
Product Analysis: The Maine Hunting Shoe The L.L Bean Company named after its founder
Leon Leonwood Bean has been in existence for over 100 years. The company was founded in
1912 and is located in Freeport, Maine. The company began in a single room in Maine selling its
first and only product, the Maine HuntingShoe which is currently known as the L.L Bean Boot.
The production of the first pair of the Maine boots can be traced back to 1911. The founder, Mr.
L.L Bean was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors. Mr. L.L Bean discovered that while outdoors
the usual pair of boots he adorned did not protect his feet from getting wet and cold. Mr. Leon,
consequently, decided to design his own pair of outdoor shoes by combining the normal leather
uppers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The boots main features have remained largely the same apart from a few tweaks, for instance,
the addition of a chain pattern design in the late 1940 s. The demand for the boot has swung up
and down over its 100 year history. In 2011, the outdoorsy aesthetic became somewhat cool, and
after that, they have been a spate of shortages every few years. This typically happens after the
autumn season (Lam, 2015). The fashion world has had a part to play in stemming up demand
for the L.L Bean boot. Moreover, the production of the boot is still done within the United States
and the materials are locally sourced in Maine. However, the downside of local production
which still relies on man hours is that there are fewer people with the skill of handmaking
footwear. The Maine boot s demand is at an all time high, and the end does not seem to be near.
To capitalize on this, the company has produced a limited edition classic make over of the duck
boot with varying colors and styles (Calfas, 2017). Such developments coupled with recurrent
stock outs seem to be increasing demand for the boat. The boot has had more than 100 year
history. Its aesthetics are not as glamorous, but its survival has largely depended on its quality,
pricing and the fact that it is made in

Sacrifice In The Gift Of The Magi By O. Henry
Stories of love and sacrifice abound in literature. Perhaps one of the most well known stories
among teens and adults is the tale of a poor, young couple struggling to find the perfect Christmas
gifts for each other using their very limited means. They each manage to get what they think is the
perfect giftfor the other, but only accomplish this by selling a prized possession which effectively
makes the new gifts impractical. This bittersweet narrative, The Gift of the Magi by O. Henry,
illustrates the moral idea that a person, motivated by nothing but lovefor another, can possess a
willingness to give in a self denying way which necessitates that the reader consider that wealth be
measured by something more than having money... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Magi most likely came a long distance from Persia and sacrificed much to present their costly
gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to the child. These gifts were esteemed not only because of
their intrinsic value, such as the precious metal, gold, but also for their medicinal properties and
were traditionally given to a king as a gift of honor. The Magi, also known as wise men or kings,
are just that, wise men. They know the value of bringing the gifts to baby Jesus not because He
needed gifts, but to show their devotion to Him. They brought these valuable gifts out of
respect and love for the new Savior. Love is a defining force for Della and Jim too,
overshadowing the poor condition of their finances. Jim and Della do not have much. They
would most certainly be considered to be in the lower class, living in a little $8 a week flat in
the city and going from a sufficient income of $30 a week to a less than adequate $20 a week
with Jim in need of a new overcoat and pair of gloves (Henry). Henry articulates how their love
for each other transforms their drab house and surroundings and gray circumstances into a warm
and inviting refuge called home. One dollar and eighty seven cents. That was all Della had, not
nearly enough to get a gift worthy of her beloved Jim (Henry). She desires nothing but to please
him and considers him worthy of something

Argumentative Essay On Tiger Parents
Janice Mirikitani was born to Japanese American parents. She is a sansei (third generation
Japanese American). She is a college student attending University of California Los Angeles.
Mirikitani doesn t seem to be struggling in school, but while she is aiming for a 4.0, she seems
to be falling a tab bit short. She was sent to my office because she had a breakdown in the middle
of an exam in class. The professor was extremely worried about her, because she was one of his
top students yet recently her grades started to fall lower and lower. Even with her grades falling
slightly she is still doing an excellent job in class, exclaimed Professor Lanoue, and she is still
one of my top students, but I ve noticed how stressed out she has been. The breakdown was the
breaking point. I started off by asking her about light topics, like friends and significant others,
but then I asked about her parents, and it really stuck her. With the way that Janice Mirikitani
describes her parents, it seems as though they are tiger parents. Tiger parenting is a common
used word to describe most Asian parents in America. Tiger parents are the extremely strict
parents who push their children to be academically successful by being as close to perfection as
possible. According to Yale Law professor Amy Chua, mothers gobble smack smack her children
when her children fails their test like when tigers do when they find children. Since she was raised

Relationship Between Layoffs And Voluntary Turnover
Relationship between Layoffs and Voluntary Turnover As the world accelerates in advancements
such as technology, the society is now capable of reaching greater heights in efficiency more than
ever. The benefit of efficiency is not wasting any limited resources and time; however, it is not
much so when business owners attempt to become more efficient by laying off their employees. In
the business field, this strategy is called downsizing and it reduces the number of employees to
operate the business more efficiently or especially during a crisis when the economy is unstable and
the business cannot afford to maintain the current number of employees. As more and more
businesses utilize downsizing, the question is, what is the impact on the... Show more content on

Psychological Spillover. This implies that a layoff experience gives a looser tie to the subsequent
employment, which means that an individual feels psychological contract violations and
amplified feelings of distrust, job insecurity, and he or she pays a greater attention to external
job opportunities. These are all factors that can potentially lead to voluntary turnover. A
psychological contract is the reciprocal exchange agreement between employee and employing
organization, as perceived by the worker. A new employee has this general schema ( a set of
expectations) of a psychological contract between him and his employer and when he is laid off,
it negatively impacts the same general schema and it transfers over to his subsequent
employment. Accordingly, once he starts working at his new job, he has lower expectations and
feels less obligated to the employer leading to an increased likelihood of voluntary turnover. It is
a similar situation with the other factors. When an individual is laid off and finds a new
employment, he will start off with the corresponding trust and job security he felt when he was
laid off which was heavily brought down thus far, and he pays a greater attention to external job
opportunities because he does not trust nor feel a sturdy job security, therefore leading up to an

Organ Donation In The United States
There are more than 120,000 people in the United States that are waiting for a life saving organ
transplant each year. Of that number, many are hoping for one or more of the five organs that
can be donated while a person is still alive. Organ donation is the removal of a person s organ or
partial organ, so another person can use it. Donating an organ while alive can save up to eight
lives, and it can be done by people donating their organs out of the goodness of their heart.
Unfortunately not all organs are donated for the right reasons. Therefore, the selling of organs
should continue to be banned in the United States because it would result in health not always
being the determining factor.

citizens should be allowed to be legally paid for the donation of their organs. Less than 17,000
patients, out of the 77,000 Americans on the waiting lists for a kidney, got a transplant in 2012.
There were 4,903 patients that died while waiting for a kidney (Linde [17]). This shows that there is
a big shortage of organs, but there are other ways to eliminate or at least reduce that problem. For
instance, a new algorithm was created that is capable of matching donors to patients who need a
kidney efficiently. It was created by Tuomas Sandholm and Avrim Blum, two computer science
professors, and David J. Abraham, a graduate student in the computer science department.
Sandholm and Pranjal Awasthi, a graduate student in the machine learning department, are working
on developing newer versions of the algorithm to better the program. The project has shown that it
can work and be effective in the medical community so far. Ten people successfully received
transplants through the chain that started using the algorithm, according to the New England
Journal of Medicine (The Tartan, Carnegie Mellon University). There are other programs like this
that can be used to match patients with organs more efficiently. This could potentially help the
organ donation rate rise due to people realizing how efficient the process can

The Same Rights As American Citizens
2.The same rights as American citizens. It is unfair to arrest millions of undocumented immigrants.
Conservatives only support legal immigration and oppose amnesty for those who enter the U.S.
illegally (illegal immigrants). Those who break the law by entering the U.S. illegally do not have
the same rights as those who obey the law and enter legally. The borders should be secured before
addressing the problem of the illegal immigrants currently in our country. The Federal Government
should enforce current immigration law to ensure not only our safety, but the illegal activity taking
place in our country today. There are other good alternatives to welfare. Private charities can
successfully serve the poor. Arnold Kling quotes, Those organizations that work directly with
poor people stand a better chance of learning how to meet their needs (Bily, 2009, p 71). He
believes charitable organizations are more flexible, accountable, and efficient. The poor would be
better served by a new tax policy directing more money to private charities and less to the federal
and state government. The role of charitable organizations is better than the government as a source
of aid. It is easier for donors or volunteers to hold charitable organizations accountable than it is for
taxpayers to hold government accountable. Failed government programs can go on forever, but an
unsuccessful charity has a more difficult time obtaining adequate funding. In 2005,

Causes Of Munchausen Syndrome
When somebody s loved one or their own children are sick or have passed away, its normal for
them and others to feel distraught. Somebody with Munchausen Syndrome might not feel so
distraught at first, it is more of a satisfying feeling for them. An individual with this disorder
intentionally gets their children sick or exaggerates the symptoms, possibly even to the point it
results in murder. They enjoy and feed off the attention and sympathy they receive from family and
friends even hospitalpersonnel. With this disorder comes several different symptoms, causes and
effects, and treatments. Before being completely uncovered, professionals believed this syndrome
was very rare. Now current day, however they believe that nearly 600 new cases... Show more

The Tinning children fell victims to their Munchausen mother, Marybeth. Back in 1972, Jennifer,
Mr. and Mrs. Tinning s eight year old daughter had passed away from acute meningitis. As a very
detached and cold husband already, Mr. Tinning showed no support or sympathy towards his
grieving wife after their daughter s passing. It did however bring a wave of sympathy from family
and friends. Just shy of 3 weeks following Jennifer s death, Marybeth had to rush her two year old
son to the hospital where he was pronounced dead due to a viral infection accompanied by a
seizure disorder. Unfortunately no autopsy was performed. The once lonely and ignored
practical nurse just had to experience not losing just one, but two children within only 3 weeks
time. Marybeth could not help but notice how the deaths of her children brought a tremendous
amount of attention and sympathy. Now remember it is only 1972, it wasn t until a couple
years later in 1977 that medical field and law enforcement became more aware of this upcoming
condition that could lead to homicidal motives. Six weeks after the second child, Joseph s
death, calamity hit the Tinning family when four year old Barbra had passed. Although
suspicious were growing after now a third child from the Tinning family had died, all foul play
was ruled out due to cause of death being cardiac arrest. Roughly a year and a half later after
Barbra s unexpected death and two prior, their two week old son died in the hospital while being
treated for a mysterious illness brought in by Mrs. Tinning. Unable to identify the cause of death,
the pathologist recorded it as a SIDS case. Nathan Tinning, their five month old died in September

Heat Waste Of Lightbulbs Lab Report
Heat Waste of Common Lightbulbs
Introduction
The purpose of my experiment was to see how much energy was wasted in different types and
wattages of lightbulbs through the output of heat. The initial objective of the project was to
research the variety of lightbulbs available on the market today including their wattage and other
important features pertaining to their operation before starting the experiment. The reports
provided information that first helped me to formulate a plan to calculate heat energy, measured in
calories. I was then able to subsequently convert the heat energy into joules which is a more
commonly used unit of energy. This was accomplished by multiplying the amount of calories
produced through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The data also shows that CFL bulbs were a very close second in the amount of wasted heat
energy per watt.. This was expected because the CFL bulbs, like the LEDs, do not need to heat up
something to cast light. The results of this experiment can be used in many different practical
situations. For instance, when setting up a light source near something that could easily catch on
fire, it would not be a good idea to use one of the bulbs that give off a lot of heat energy. Also, if
you want to use the most efficient bulb, you should consider the one that turns most of the energy it
uses into light energy like the LED

In this method, the challenges from that emanated from the previous methods are solved through
the development of a quicker way that solves the same problems in a short duration. The goal of the
project was to obtain an easier methodology that can help in solving systems of eigen problems. In
particular the study aimed at obtaining anything that solve a collection of problems. The new
methodology adopted not only maintains the solution requirements but also introduces systematic
improvability. Through the new insights added to the new method which distinguishes it from the
previous methodologies, the required accuracy coupled with a fewer degree of freedom can be
achieved. Methodology and key results The methodology surrounds the solution of a quantum
mechanical Schrodinger equation for large complex systems such as insulating or metallic
materials at either ambient or extreme conditions. The wave equation is first modified in the form
of Kohn Sham equation. The solution is then derived from the assumption that there is a linear
combination of piecewise polynomials. The formulation of the Schrodinger problem within the
infinite crystal is then reduced using the boundary value problem within the confines of a unit finite
cell which is then extended to the crystal potential which consists of an array of atoms. The
formulation showed that for higher derivatives of the first order, there exist finite discontinuities at

La Mission Movie Analysis
Symbolic Representations One of the symbolic representations in La Mission is where it takes
place, in the mission district of San Francisco. It represents the traditional stance of Che the main
character and compares it to the shift to a more hipster neighborhood with new people like Lena
moving in who haven t been in the neighborhood until recently. He also restores old cars into low
riders which is historically Mexican American style of car. The music featured in this movie is a
mix of traditional chorales, native drums and guitars mixed with newer more modern version that
also show the transition that this community and culture are facing coming to terms with change
and homosexualitythat is culturally unacceptable. On the other hand, the movie Walkout shows a
symbolic representation in the movie in the form of the main characters father who has a traditional
blue collar job and represents the barrier that many Chicano s faced at that time. Another is the
school teacher Sal who really has risen above and escaped the life most Chicano s are facing.
This comparison is mirrored in the way some students like Paula are encouraged to attend college
while others are told to go into a low paying trade.
Arguments
From my perspective it s the judgement of homosexuality that is portrayed in the movie. Riddled
throughout the movie is drugs, other deities and violence. Even the main character Che is an
alcoholic bully who s been to prison. How they wrap their heads around these

Perception And Actions Regarding American Indians
During the 1600s there was many changes in regards to the perception and actions concerning
American Indians. In the aftermath of both the Pequot and King Philip s War, there were casualties
from the Indians, and the negative connotations concerning natives grew until the extreme paranoia
over the violence of Indians became common thought. Through these wars we also begin to see the
idea of Manifest Destiny and the frontier becoming important to the Americas, while after the wars
the respect previously given to alliances concerning Indians decreased. This period is known as a
time when relations changed with the collision of American and Indian cultures in a new type of

When looking at captivity narratives there is many different characteristics that can show if the
document is reliable outside of any bias the author brought or that was inherent in the culture of that
period. Defining a captivity narrative is a difficult job for many reasons. The chief reason is that
since there are so many written concerning Indian captivity, it becomes necessary to have a
category list or a type of checklist that could be used to look at the validity of a narrative as well
as showcasing if it would be useful in any form. Looking through the narratives, defining good
examples of narratives is necessary to show the reality of the situation for that period in terms of
the idea of Indians and what helped to further found the inherent fear of whites over Indian
capturing of white settlers as well as Indian violence. The term captivity narrative has become a
blanket term for any type of colonial settler that during the 17th to 19th century, whether fact or
fiction, that involves contact with Indian tribes in uncomfortable circumstances. One of the major
problems with these narratives surrounds the idea of how to exactly define the term captivity
narrative , since the large amount of tales written concerning this theme are indistinguishable in

Analysis Of John Milton s The Fall Of Mankind Essay
The story of the fall of mankind, explored by John Milton in his epic Paradise Lost, has a way of
defining the roles of solitude through its characters, and through those definitions the effects
solitude has overall. The epic explores how the good and bad of what happens when one is left
alone in their thought, and deep into it, a question is asked by a main character, who can enjoy
alone, or all enjoying, what contentment find? (Book 8. Line 365 66). The way alone is defined
is having no one else present, on one s own ; taking or acting on its own ; and no one or nothing
else besides, exclusive of all other people or things . All three definitions will be explored,
because in ways each definition applies to more than one character, and some characters are
defined by more than one definition of alone. The way solitude is presented in Paradise Lostis that
the time spent in solitude distances the characters from each other, and allows for both good and evil
to come from their time spent alone. The main characters define solitude in their own way, some
even use more definitions than others, and they share definitions among each other. Starting with
Godwho is never alone, although God experiences solitude in the sense that God is one of a
kind, which was an early sentiment shared with Adam before Eve was created. Satan in solitude
allows for him to concoct schemes to ruin God s plans. Adam begins alone, and he does not like it,

In the Republic, Plato, through Socrates, presents the idea of the kallipolis and is not only
apathetic to the idea of a perfect city but goes as far to discourage thinkers from attempting to attain

Within the cave individuals are bound to the physical world by their own inability to see the light
behind them. In Plato s analogy he is crying out against the politicians who seem to be controlling
and thus stunting the metaphysical growth of unenlightened individuals. In the kallipolis that Plato
described the government holds all of the power. This is detrimental to the ideological sense of the
philosophers because the government is able to trick the masses into believing in the reality of the

The Restoration of Strong Government Under Henry VII Essay
The Restoration of Strong Government Under Henry VII
Henry VII s relations with the nobility are controversial, but views of his success are subjective.
When discussing degrees of success, there must be criteria on which to judge the subject. In this
case restoration of strong government can be measured by a close study of what Henry VII set out
to achieve and whether he fulfilled his aims. He appreciated the nobility s importance in local
governance and did not want to crush them, but merely control and limit their power, preventing
rebellion and civil war. This essay examines the level of success Henry had in implementing his
methods.

He did this by rewarding 37 proven loyal nobles with the Order of Garter. This was the highest
award of chivalry, but was without the financial obligations of titles. Thus, Henry successfully
managed the number of nobles creating a select, loyal, controllable group.
Henry had close interest in the marriages of the nobility because under the feudal system, his
permission was required for marriage. In the Middle Ages, it was common for powerful nobles to
marry heiresses creating vast estates over which they had almost complete power. To stop this
happening, Henry ensured that leading magnates and their sons did not marry heiresses, thus
preventing the creation of super nobles . This prevented families such as the Stafford s and the
Percy s from becoming too powerful. He also gave the inheritance of many unmarried women to
the Crown. In this way Henry was really successful in limiting the power of nobility.
Henry, whilst respecting the local authority of the nobles, minimised their power in his central
council. As Carpenter says, the only men who Henry really did trust were certain officials...mostly
of gentry region. Not all Henry s advisors were gentry, but many were. Sir Richard Empson and
Edmund Dudly were mere lawyers and yet, tow of the most powerful people in the country in their
roles as heads

How To Read Like A Professor Character Analysis
There are several basic plot structures that have been reused throughout literature to create new
stories and ideas, but after all the manipulation and tweaks, the stories still contain the same
overall plot. In this case in How to Read Like a Professor, Mr. Foster starts out his book by
introducing one of the more common story plots, the commencement of a quest. Since writing
builds on what has come before, stories such as Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Setup in The
Crying of Lot 49 have similar development and organization because they re all quests.
The plot structure of a quest usually consists of five elements with the end result being the
characters discovery of self knowledge. The basic organization requires a questor that s given

the yard, and the masts were brought over on another ship. For the next week work

Essay On Invasive Species
Introduction Paragraph:
What is an invasive species? I believe an invasive species is an animal that has either come to a
new environment on purpose or accident and caused harm by doing so. I became interested in
this topic because animals are interesting to me. I did not consider any other topics. When I saw
the topic I immediately went to research it. I knew bits and pieces of some stories invasive species

The Fruits of My Search: My biggest concern and surprise that caught me off guard when
searching this topic was that most of the animals seem harmless at first, but then they turn into an
enemy to me by the end because of what they have caused. The article I cited above states,
Approximately 42% of Threatened or Endangered species are at risk primarily due to invasive
species. This is nerve racking. It is basically saying that 42% of threatened and endangered species
became that way because of invasive species. Another concept that I thought was interesting, was
the fact that us humans are invasive. Invasive species are species that invade a new habitat. We
have done that many times. Think of the place we are right now, North America. Explorers came to
north america to find native americans and harsh conditions, so obviously we were not striving in
the new land. With time our population grew and soon we drove out almost the entire native
american existence. One thing that caused a personal experience of mine

Motor Neuron Disease
Motor neuron disease This week I chose an article about motor neuron disease because this
disease is not a common disease. However, it can severely affect the well being of our bodies. A
motor neuron disease is the deterioration of motor neurons. This disease can be occasional or
hereditary; it can affect two types of motors, the Upper motor neurons the Lower motor neurons
located in our brain. Moreover, the signs and the symptoms of a motor neurondisease depend on the
kind of motor neuron disease a person has. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is one of the most
contracted types of neurons disease. Furthermore, there are three types of Amyotrophic lateral
sclerosis including Sporadic, Familial, and Western Pacific. Among these three types

Factors That Affect The Growth And Germination Rates Were...
Plants are an essential part of survival for humans and animals and contribute significantly to
various areas of the lives of organisms. In order to better understand the different plants and its
requirements the growth and germination rates were investigated. The hypothesis stated that if the
dicotolydeons and monocotyledons are placed in the same environment and watered regularly, then
the dicotyledons will have a faster growth and germination rate.
In order for plants to survive, it is a necessity for the process of photosynthesis to occur.
Photosynthesis is the process wherein plants create oxygen and food for themselves (glucose) using
carbon dioxide, water and energy from the sun. Once this process is completed, plants are able to
grow using the nutrients provided by photosynthesis.
Word equation: carbon dioxide + water (SUNLIGHT AND CHLORYPHYLL) glucose + oxygen
There are many factors that affect photosynthesis such as light availability, carbon dioxide
concentration and temperature. Light is a limiting factor as if there is not enough light available,
the rate of photosynthesis will decrease. This is because without the light, the chlorophyll (not be
created) will be unable to absorb energy from the sun, resulting in no food which is required for
survival. Temperature plays an essential role in photosynthesis as well. As the temperature
increases, so does the rate of photosynthesis. As it is a chemical reaction, an increase in temperature
will cause enzymes and

Illegal Immigrants Inside Our Nations Border
In 2012, a recent study found that there was nearly 11 million illegal immigrants inside our
nations border. This has been a recurring problem going on since the late 19th century when the
federal law was passed which prohibited entry of convicts and prostitutes. Although this isn t the
case of everyone crossing our nations borders, it is still a national problem. Not allowing more
people to infiltrate our country will provide americans with more jobs , will lower the
incarceration rates, and will allow american tax dollars to be spent elsewhere. Illegal immigration
laws have been around dating back to the late 19th century. In 1882 President Chester A. Arthur
banned almost all Chinese s immigration to the United Statesand shortly thereafter barred paupers,
criminals and the mentally ill from entering as well. Although this only affected a small percentage
of immigrants, there was now distinctions between legal and illegal immigration, which before
there little to no regulation. Ellis Island, the portal of immigrants was, which allowed nearly 23ВЅ
millions immigrants to pour into america legally. This number was dramatically lowered due to
the Quota Law that reduced it to 357,000 a year and limited the number of immigrants from any
one country. Which was reduced more and more throughout the years. However, the door was left
open for Mexicans who could work for less pay than the northern europeans. But it was not to last,
as seen in prior decades, after the 1965 Immigration

Theodore Roosevelt Background
Theodore Roosevelt with the assistance of his Rough Riders entered the state of Florida on
June 3rd, 1898, within 39 days into the Spanish American War. Theodore was 39 years old when
he resigned his position as an assistant secretary of the Navy in order to take over the first
Volunteer Cavalry Regiment, with the help of Leonard Wood to begin moving into the authority
of Spanish from Cuba. With an anxiety for war and being worried the ship wouldn t leave soon
enough before his men ruined their livers with a surplus of alcohol, Theodore focused on
studying Florida s botany to distract his mind. Due to being a Harvard graduate he was familiar
with the study of nature from a scientific standpoint. He believed a soldier was best made by

Although he had his time occupied by training his regiment for combat, Roosevelt preserved his
captivation for animals, one characteristic which gave importance to his war account. With the
help of Theodore, the Voluntary Cavalry Regiment adopted three animals to represent them, which
were: a mountain lion cub (which was later given away as a circus attraction, but unfortunately
got lost or stolen in Chicago), an eagle (sadly killed by two bad eagles when put in the same cage),
and a terrier like dog (later given to Sam Black). On June 13, the Yucatan finally set sail out of

The Effects Of Food On The Food Industry
There are currently two types of food systems that exist in our food shed. TINA, which comes
from Maggie Thatcher, who said, There Is No Alternative to global economy T I N A (Shuman,
2002). And LOIS, which stands for Local Ownership and Import Substitution (Shuman, 2002).
TINA is the system that has been used for the pasted 60 to 70 years, and throughout that time the
way we produced are food has become both productive and efficient; but it has also become
destructive and unhealthy. In A TINA based food economy, food is either mass produced
through the process of industrial farming or it is imported from other countries. These lead to
adverse effects on the food, the environment and the economy. However, in a LOIS based food
economy, food is produced locally through locally owned businesses, then the more you can
minimize your vulnerability to nasty surprises, the more you can maximize your economic
multiplier, and the more you can maximize tax proceeds to the public sector and the many good
things that come from it. (Shuman, 2002). So in simpler terms the more you produce locally,
the better local economies will be and if local economies have a large income then the nations
income will increase by way of tax. Along with being good for our economy, LOIS has little to
no adverse effect on our environment or health. Compared to TINA, LOIS looks like paradise, but
just like every dream world, the LOIS system is currently an impossible system to live by. As I said

David Guetta Meaning
Titanium , by David Guetta, is a song that describes a super woman that can withstand any abuse
given to her. David Guetta is able to enhance the lyrics of this song by including several loud
breaks within this song. During these breaks, Ratliff describes how the loud bass drum beats away
all the white noise. I found it interesting how uncomfortable the white noise sounded, and I think
the song would sound terrible if this loud bass drum was taken out. Additionally, I think that if the
bass drum was taken out, the song would not contain such a double meaning. The white noise
seems to represent all the abuse put onto this woman, and the bass drum seems to be her fighting it
off. If she were truly bullet proof, she would not need to fight this... Show more content on

These preexisting sounds make this song sound alien to the music from today; as a result, the
music ends up reminding the listener of similar music from the 1960s. For instance, the drum beat
throughout the song Be My Baby hits only on the fourth beat which is primarily heard in Latin
music. This gives the beat more pull whenever the snare beat finally comes around, as opposed to
the snare being hit on the second and fourth beat. Furthermore, the castanets played throughout this
song sound very Latin. In our age of electronic music, we typically use other electronic sounds in
the background take the place of castanets. On the other hand, the background vocals sung in Be
My Baby sound like the 1960s. For example, the background singers continue to sing parts of the
chorus throughout the song a lot louder than most of the music heard today. As a result, music from
the 1960s seems to always contain a clear message that is hammered in by the repetitive backup
vocalists and the highly anticipated snare drum. This music fits within a time period, since music
continues to adapt and change to meet the tastes of its listeners. For this reason, this music sounds
alien, since our generation is very different from people in the

The Problem with Potholes Speech
SPEECH PURPOSE:
General purpose: To inform my audience how pot holes are formed and what they can do to help
fix them.
Specific purpose: To inform my audience how pot holes are formed in Chicago, due to the climate.
And what Chicagoans can do to help fix them by using the city s free on line service.
INTRODUCTION
I.(Attention getter):
According to the Chicago tribune s website, in 2011 alone, 600,000 potholes were repaired, filled,
or resurfaced by the city of Chicago. If this is divided in to a 40 hour work week, that averages out
to 1,640 potholes a day (200 + potholes an hour) or 3 potholes a minute
II.(Listener relevance link): Potholes are a nuisance to automobile drivers, bicyclist, and yes even
walkers alike. Many of us travel through Chicago using at least one of these means to go to work,
a social event, or at the very least school, This year s spring is expected to have more potholes than
recent years. This is largely due to the large amount of Chicago s temperature fluctuation this winter
season.
III. Your experience/background with the topic (speaker credibility statement):
Having lived in Chicago my whole life and from my 6 years of driving, I can speak from
experience when I say there is not a neighborhood that does not have potholes. According to Summit
County s engineer s website, potholes are most commonly formed during spring due to the change
in temperature.

The California City In The City Of Sacramento, California
Sacramento, California is often not the first place that comes to mind when someone thinks of
moving to the city, or even when coming up with vacation spots. However, there are countless
reasons why Sacramento is wonderful. Sacramento is California s capital, located in the
northern half of the state, right in between San Francisco and South Lake Tahoe. Nicknamed
City of Trees , Sacramento is lush with greenery that lines its streets and especially along the
banks of the Sacramento River. The city is surrounded with miles of farmland which provides
not only a gorgeous skyline, but also gives fresh produce to its hundreds of restaurants. Between
Midtown and Downtown, or Old Sacramento , there is also plenty to see and do for the night
owls. Not only is Sacramento thriving in present day, but the city is rich with culture and history.
Being the hot spot for gold mining and settling in the mid 1800 s, the city has many unique and
preserved features that remind its residents and visitors just how important Sacramento was in
American history (Sacramento). Sacramento is all the things listed above, but more importantly,
it is a home for nearly two million people in the area. Many of them fortunate to have a home of
their own, whether in the heart of the city or just outside of it. Of these two million are about
3,500 people that do not have a home of their own (Chabria). These individuals have spent, on
average, a year or more living on the streets of Sacramento gathering, at

Social Work Reflection Paper
During my time at my practicum, I have not experienced any practice related ethical dilemmas. In
fact, as I am writing this, I have only been on the phones once since I just recently completed
training. For this assignment, I am going to use a hypothetical dilemma based on things I have
witnessed during my observation shifts, my knowledge of Headquarters Counseling Center, and
my role as a social work intern. The emotional reactions I discuss will be true of how I feel while
imaging the situation. At Headquarters, our primary focus is suicideprevention. As a social work
intern, I see what the agency does at many different levels. Answering the phones, though, is just
beginning for me. Counseling on the hotline will be my main job at my internship, so I will be
discussing a dilemma based on the phone counseling portion of my work. This is actually a
situation I have thought about, and I am worried about finding myself in, so I thought it would be
good to work through it for this assignment and hopefully feel more prepared when the time
comes. When talking to suicidal others (people who are calling us because they are concerned that
someone else in their life is suicidal) on the hotline, it is extremely important for us to assess the
level of seriousness of the situation and counsel the caller through the process as well. Often times,
these callers wantus to either call the suicidal person for them, teach them the skills to help their
friend/family member/etc. on their own, or want us to call 911 to check on them. We reserve
calling dispatch for when it is completely necessary. However, what if it is necessary but the
suicidal person refuses the help? The following is a specific situation I have been thinking about
and applying this ethical dilemmato. I receive a suicidal other call from a woman in a different
part of the state who is worried about a friend in Lawrence. The friend has told her he is suicidal,
that he plans to shoot himself in the head, and that he plans to do it the same evening. She had not
heard from her friend in several hours, since he told her about his plan, and she is does not know
of any friends or family he may have in town that could check on him. Unsure of how to contact

Early History Of America By Robert Lloyd Garrison And The...
Early History of America It draws the global attention to the extend and the achievements of
America concerning the major issues of development. However, it must be noted that the history of
achievement takes its form of complexity that features the details and characters involved in the
immediate past, as well as the ones who determined the current status of America. In the process,
major issues like slavery, revolution and settlement served as major drawbacks that hampered
development within the American boundaries. In the Portrait of America , the collective work
done by Oates and Errico (2012) features an important section that avails more information headed
I Will Be Heard: William Lloyd GarrisonAnd The Struggle Against Slavery depicting the work of a
humbled author Ian Berlin, who focused much on Nat Turner, who was by then considered a revolt
following the prevailing conditions of slavery. Further details on antislavery reveal the true
character of an abolitionist, Garrison. In addition, the work narrows down to the actions taken by
Thomas Jefferson related to antislavery. Garrison s time entailed slavery that stretched to the
American south accompanied with denial of rights from the African Americans. Segregation
cultivated racism in a quite far reaching extent of observing every nature and behavior of the
African Americans. Such actions among others raised a great concern of emancipating the blacks
beginning with releasing the children of the slaves.

situation because of Iosef Stalin and his Communist Party. He described his points of view in a

Moreover ,everything was under control of the Polish Government of Stalin, including a lot of

boulder could once be compared to the painstaking task called research. However, as technology
has advanced, humanity has innovated endless global networks of connections to bring the world
to the fingertips of society. One of these is the infinite tool known as Google. While some of today
s society is somewhat skeptical of the overwhelming expansion of the Internet, companies such as
Google have not only provided efficiency, but have guaranteed a future of advancement and vast
knowledge throughout the global community. As minds of mankind have fashioned pioneering
technology throughout history, they have always been met with some criticism; however,
countless numbers of them have succeeded in the face of doubt. Nicholas Carr wrote an article
about the effects of Google, and relates to these historical events. [After] The arrival of Gutenberg
s printing press...Italian Humanist Hieronimo Squarciafico worried that the easy availability of
books would lead to intellectual laziness, making men less studious and weakening their minds .
Although those around Gutenberg were skeptical of the effects his innovation may cause on
society, books actually brought forth a new age of intelligence and more access to learning. The
use of the Internet spreads like a common cold, and many fear its massive existence. However,
Carr realizes that Google may turn out to be beneficial to us all.

Interracial Marriage
Everybody is human, everybody walks, and everybody talks, so why care what they say. Many
choose to be unique and not care about irrelevant people. Interracial Marriage is one of the less
cared about marriages. Most people do not approve of any type of interracial marriage or mixed
race children in a family of another race. People were not born to hate, they were raised to be that
way. Every individual has a right to be there own person, but don t have enough respect not to
show it around people who may disapprove in it anyway. Not everybody can help who they fall
in love with. Whether it is a younger or older person. A Mexican or an African American. Many
laws and preferences have changed since 1619, which was also the year that the first interracial
marriagehappened. Some people who were raised in racism may think different about interracial
marriage or as many may say it is a sin. Nobody goes throughout a whole entire day without
committing a sin because nobody is perfect. Maybe there is a reason a white woman prefers
African American males or a Mexican woman prefers a white male, maybe something happened in
their lives with their own racethat made them change their course in thought. Many older people
do not approve the interracial marriage or relationship because they had to live through slavery,
wars, and all the trauma of the loss of a loved one due to the other race. This generation may not

Fly By Wire Essay
Aircraft Feature; Fly By Wire Technology Fly by wire is a new technology in aircrafts that has
replaced the manual flight control with electronic controls. In this technology the flight control
signals are converted into electrical signals which are transmitted to the processors through electric
wires and the computer determines the movement of the actuators according to the control
command (Crane 2002). Moreover, this system sends out certain commands to the computer
without any input from the pilot, these commands are mainly transmitted for a more stable flight.
The fly by wire system also allows automatic signals sent by the aircraft s computers to perform
functions without the pilot s input, as in systems that automatically help stabilize the aircraft.
Mechanical and hydro mechanical flight controls system comprise of all heavy steel cables,
metallic pipes with hydraulic fluid, cables and pulleys which adds to the air craft total weight thus
slowing it down and decreasing its full efficiency. Both systems frequently need unnecessary backup
to tackle mechanical failures, which further increases weight. Additionally, both have inadequate
capability to adjust to changing aerodynamic conditions. Dangerous maneuverability such as
stalling, spinning and pilot induced oscillation (PIO), which is dependent chiefly on the strength
and configuration of the aircraft concerned rather than the control system itself, can still occur with
these systems (Crane 2002). The word

Building A Wireless Infrastructure Backbone System
Introduction
Currently much importance is given to optimizing business without affecting the production and
process. When a new distribution centre s build or an existing one is being upgraded with a
warehouse management system, a wireless network structure should be provided which need to be
regarded as the integral part of the process. This is an important part because connection issues may
arise due to lack in connectivity without wireless connection. Eventually this will impact the data
collection capabilities from other floors, mostly form the ground to top floor (Lu, W., Giannikas,
V., McFarlane, D., Hyde, J. (2014). A wireless networkinfrastructure building starts with a design
and then with a map which will describe the mapping of the wireless access points. It also needs to
create a plan for installing the cable which will run throughout the distribution centre. The reason
behind this planning is to build a wireless infrastructure backbone that will be implemented and
which can have the capability to support the whole planning in the distribution centre. To get proper
wireless signals throughout the premises a well planning of the wireless system is essential along
with successful implementation.
Planning and Implementation

elements and components which need to be taken care of while project implementation. Plenty of

Life In The Trenches Narrative Essay
It s been three days since my regiment was sent to fight in the trenches on the Western Front of
this Two Front War or more befittingly, The War to End All Wars . When we arrived, we were
greeted with open arms by British Soldiers that called us Doughboys . A few soldiers happily
showed us around the trenches and warned us about the high water level and mud, explaining
how it can lead to vile trench feet . The soldiers also warned us of the danger that is German
poison gas attacks and how we should always have a gas mask on hand. Finally, we were all
given rations, a few trench arts that some soldiers made in their spare time, and a speech that still
resonates with me. A young British sergeant stood up on a stool and told us that he believes that
we can finally end the stalemate with the Germans and stick it to their pig of a leader, Kaiser

Philosophy 101
Paper Proposal Islam does not promote violence and terrorism I believe that there have been
many misconceptions of Islam that are portrayed and plastered all over the news, media and
even billboard for years now. Millions of Muslims living in the western world have found
themselves under a lot of inspection by their societies. Charles Peirce a philosopher who is
known for his methods for fixing belief proves a good point and idea in order for people to be more
considerable of their thoughts and beliefs to reason correctly before judging the Islamic religion to
be promoting violence. People instead of judging all people in Islam and any religion, should be
thinking more maturely as to who is the evil doer, instead of taking their anger out on innocent
people and the wellbeing in society to keep a unity in the world. However, another famous
philosopher whom I disagree with who argues Peirce s methods of belief is David Hume. Hume
believes that of which to avoid all problems, all religious belief should be rid of. The question
whether Islam promotes violence and terrorism is a question that I believe is an answer many
people don t understand the answer to and lack the knowledge of their own to make the distinction.
In Philosophy the study of Epistemology uses logic to structure an argument and types of evidence
you can use to support certain conclusions. What constitutes people s knowledge in Islam? This

History of Hearing Aids Essay
The story of the hearing aid depicts one of the most ridiculous timelines of technological
advancements in all of history. Although we modernly think of a hearing aid as a small device
which is inserted into the ear canal, the reality is that a hearing aid is an apparatus that amplifies
sound and compensates for impaired hearing. Thus, I invite you to expand your mind, and draw
your attention to the intriguing, and absolutely absurd, timeline of the hearing aid.
The most common model of the ancestral hearing aid is that of the simple ear trumpet. This was a
small, pipe looking device which was carved from either bull s horn or seashell, and was held up to

Finally, in 1901, the first electric hearing aids were designed. Consisting of a carbon microphone,
a processing unit, a battery box, and a headpiece, this hearing aid served merely as a personalized
microphone/amplifier. It was bulky, heavy, and expensive to buy (at about $400.00 each), but it
worked! Thus, its successors followed the same model, but the goal became a matter of size.
It wasn t until 1953 that a person could wear a hearing aid that would go largely unnoticed. The
Oticon pocket model was an aid that looked very much like an iPod its components being a small,
pocket sized battery and processor, and an earpiece which look about the same as what we would
now call an earbud . This was an incredible advancement, but the design was not quite finished.

The Oxford dictionary 2015 defines a solicitor as A legal practitioner admitted to practice under

Crooks Dialectical Journal
After reading chapter 3 and 4 of the novel Of Mice and Men, an important quote stood out to me
among the rest of the passage. On page 68, Crooks responded to Lennie s sudden entrance, You
go on get outta my room. I ain t wanted in the bunkhouse, and you ain t wanted in my room.
Earlier chapters describe how he was not allowed to sleep in the bunkhouse with everyone else
and had to be separated in a room by himself. Moreover, it is a rare occasion does people ever visit
him, on the exception for Slim. The obvious interpretation would be the connection it holds to the
racism that existed at the time, but I perceived a deeper connection behind his response.
Although Crooks is a diligent and hardworking stable buck, he experiences loneliness from unequal
treatment by others. Thus, his impetuous response to Lennie came from the hardships he went
through for being the only African American on the ranch. To some extent, people s comments and
actions reflect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He resented how he was not allowed to live in the bunkhouse, therefore denying Lennie permission
to enter his room. On the other hand, the book suggest that Lennie just wanted someone to talk to
while George was gone, from which he says, Noting I seen your light. I thought I could jus come
in an set. Crooks then goes on criticizing Lennie how he stinks at playing cards, only because others
say he stunk at playing it. All the injustice Crooks faced is directly affecting upon how he treats
others. Author John Steinbeck does a phenomenal job in conveying important ideas through
characters such as Crooks. This specific quote stood out to me because it reminded me of how
this idea can be applied to problems we as a society are facing today, of one such as bullying. Not
only does this quote refer to discrimination at the time, it also suggest the idea such that people
often treat others the way they had been

What Makes A Good President
In order to have a successful and radiant country, we need to have a president that the United
States people will adore. The president is someone who makes all the important decision topics
like school funds, the military, and decide whether laws get put into motion. There are already
certain requirements that a president must be before becoming a candidate, for example, a
president must be at least thirty five years old and have been born in the US. I would want the
president of the United Statesto be a loyal, honest, and fair person to ever member of our country
whether they are lower, middle, or higher class.
One very important trait for the president is bravery. A brave president will be willing to fight for
our country when we are under attack from an enemy. If a country declares war on the US then
our president should be intelligent, brave, and have the right mind set on how to defeat the enemy.
A president will have countless times of disapproval from residents of our country; however, he/she
must be brave enough to stand tall about their idea that they feel is best for us and our future. ...

Doing business in Kuwait is difficult compared to other countries. Michigan State University s
Global edge program ranks Kuwait 101 out of 108 countries in ease of doing business (Kuwait
Introduction, n.d.) One issue is the legal requirement to have a local agent to legally do business in
the country. Kuwait Commercial Law No. 36 of 1964 and Law No. 68 of 1980 requires foreign
companies to contract with a Kuwaiti citizen to conduct business in the Kingdom (Doing Business
in Kuwait, 2017). This law requires the MNC to contract to the agent for no less than five years
(Sirdab_Lab, 2016). The MNC may only terminate the agent in the event of a breach of contract.

Oil accounts for half of the country s GPD and 95% of export revenue (Trade Policy Review, n.d.).
Kuwait is also focused on improving infrastructure and logistics. Current involvement by the
Kuwaiti government in economic activity is seen as substantial and a deterrent to business revenue
(Trade Policy Review, n.d.).
Cultural and Ethical Environment
Individuals have their own ethical standards to varying degrees. Businesses have ethical standards
in the same way individuals do. Business standards in the United States are consistent with what
most westerners would consider ethical and proper marketplace behavior. Just because ethical dos
and don ts appear self evident in the United States one should not assume these ethical standards can
be applied globally. With global expansion, western business leaders should practice cultural
awareness while setting acceptable business standards (Cotton, 2017).
Cultural Practices
Social problems in Kuwait are primarily drawn from the country s systemic hierarchies. In these
hierarchies, groups and individuals struggle to either improve or maintain their respective positions
(Kuwait, n.d.). The role of women within these structures has been open for debate. Likewise, the

Finally, the large brewers were increasingly successful by creating another point of differentiation.
They attracted more consumers as the big brewers had the capacity to package beers in different
sizes and therefore also appeal to consumers who drank beer in small amounts or slowly as well as
packaged in different numbers to cater to the growing population of drinkers who consumed at
home.
RECOMMENDATIONS
The following recommendation was concluded by the team members :
Craft beer should not only be sold as premium beer among graduates and people with income of
more than 75000 USD but also to people with moderate income.
Brewing substitute products, for example, flavored premium craft beer
Take over of companies that produced alcoholic beverages (spirits and champagne) and non
alcoholic beverages (such as soft drinks, juices and coffee)
Microbrewers should concentrate more on the following attributes of the beer: quality, freshness,
distinctiveness and variety of product offers, in order to gain more customers.
Craft beer companies should focus more on young professionals, since they are in the target group
of those identified to consume much craft beer. Furthermore, white Americans should be targeted as
well.
Craft beer companies should do much publicity to raise awareness of craft

The Bobo Doll Experiment
The study done by Ross Bandura was the Bobo Doll Experiment. This study was done in 1961.
He had a total of 72 participants 36 girls and 36 boys around the ages of 3 and 6 years old.
Bandura was trying to add credence to his belief that all humans behavior was learned, through
social imitation and copying, rather than inherited through genetic factors (Shuttleworth). Bandra
designed an experiment that would allow some to watch aggressive actors and others to watch non
aggressive actors. Bandra decided to use children for the experiment because children tend to have
less social conditioning and the also have less instruction and teaching of rules of society than
adults subjects (Shuttleworth). This experiment was setup so that 24 children

The Economic Implications Of The Civilization Of India
One of these complications was their Economic instability. Following the partition, the first
consequence, was the uneven distribution of area and population. India was burdened with with
82% of the population and only procured 77% of the total area. The remaining 18% of population
along with 23% of the total area went over to Pakistan. However, it is only when we look at the way
in which the agricultural resources were distributed, that the real loss that Indiaexperiences become
evident. Respective of the partition, 84% of the diffused area was handed to India, while the
remaining 16% went to Pakistan. Although Pakistan got slightly less than what its population
would demand, they more than made up for it, through the benefit of irrigation facilities. Out of
the 70 million acres of irrigated land in the undivided country, 67% (48 million) went to India
and 33% (22 million) went to Pakistan. Ergo, 45.2% of the total area Pakistan dominated, was
made up of irrigation works, the reciprocal percentage in the Republic of India was only 18.9%.
Pakistan, not only received a larger share of irrigated land, but also, India had the percentage of
irrigated land that was only of protective nature (eg. they were only in place as last resort in
times of famine conditions as opposed to feeding the entire population). This was especially so of
the irrigation land in the South of India, notably in Bombay, Mysore and Madras. The partition,
therefore, hauled India to have greater dependence on the whimsical of rainfall, reckoning for the
their annual fluctuations in agricultural production. This was detrimental to India s well being as
even before the partition, India had a shortcoming in food, more specifically grains. This partition
only further aggravated the problem. This can be seen through India having 82% of the
population, but only producing 65% of the total crops. This was not so for the Pakistani population
as they produced about one million tonnes of surplus food. The partition was therefore conducive
in precipitating a net loss of 700,000 800,000 of annual supply in the Indian union. Additionally, the
partition also initiated a severe shortage of raw cotton and raw jute as well. This effected the Indian
economy

Background

Discovery of Lucy in 1974. (Johanson, 2004)

The expedition took place in Ethiopia s Afar Triangle which was also known as Hadar. (Johanson,

This was the best location to find fossils because it was 200 meters of strata. (Johanson, 2004)
Strata is an area in the ground where different layers of rock exists. (Johanson, 2004)
The lacustrine and fluviatile sediments allowed for a fossil rich area. (Johanson, 2004)

Nothing Gold Can Stay Essay
Nothing Gold Can Stay by Robert Frost Summer s over, and there s nothing you can do about it.
If you miss the fun and sun, you ll be able to relate to this poem by Robert Frost. It s about how
everything wonderful eventually changes (Line, pg. 27). In the article, the author is bring
forward a line by line explanation of what the myth is about in Nothing Gold Can Stay Long. In
the poem by Frost, he depicts a myth nature and its course of life. When you receive a bouquet of
flowers you d like for them to stay vibrant and beautiful. Frost displays in the poem that life is all
about ups and downs. Also, he explain that good things do not always remain a good thing. It is
good to say that Frost is talking about his life or someone else s life. I would say that it is his life...

The flower will be in bloom for longer than an hour, but the meaning behind that shows a bigger
picture in life s upsets. Often in life we have situations that gives us insights on better things in
life because they end on a bad note. Other times, we have situations in life that show us how to
overcome sadness in bad situations. In the line of goes down to day , I think that frost is
speaking on the how a day may start fresh and great but may end on a bad note from an
experience. Some may take that that line as meaning that their good thing is gone. The day is
over and the good has ended. The last line of the the poem, is the title of the poem. I think that
Frost, let it be the last thing mentioned to show the ending of something beautiful. The last lined
as mentioned takes us through what happened before the day ended and sunset. In the last line
there is a depiction of how a good day has to end even when we do not want it to. A great example
of a big day is a wedding. For most people they do not not want their wedding day to end because, it
is one of the best days of their life. Also, some people may want it to end because it probably did

Connecticut Compromise
Equality in the Senate sparked a lot of debates during the Connecticut compromise. Some argued
that equality in the Senate would lead to state corporate capacity, while others argued this will help
balance the national government. To an extent the reason why a good chunk of the debates focused
on the idea of a balanced Senate, in my opinion, was because this topic the more complicated part of
the Connecticut Compromise. The founders were fairly certain that one of the branches of the
legislator was going to represent each population of the state (there were some concerns regarding
slavery in the southern states; however, it wasn t a major issue during the Connecticut
Compromise) just the founders did not know how to fairly represent the other branch. On June 28th

as the small states it would naturally lead to inequality in the Senate. The large states would
simply have to share the same opinion to overpower the Senate. This would lead to the small
states in having no say in what happens in the country. Personally I do not agree with Luther s
concerns. It logically does not make a lot of sense, in my opinion. If every state has equal say
there is really no way that one state can overpower the other. However, I do find the argument about

Podiatrist Personal Statement
I was just two weeks into my internal medicine rotation at Suez Canal University in Egypt, when I
encountered a case that I still remember to this day. Ms. Rafat was an elderly diabetic patient that
came into our clinic complaining of a persistent wound on the sole of her foot. Upon removing her
boots, her complaint turned out to be a footulcer with an infection extending to the first and second
metatarsal bones .Unfortunately for her, we had to break the news to her and her family that her
foot would need amputation. Ms. Rafat was understandably upset but took the news in stride.
Following up on her case, I learned that after the surgery, the blood flow to her leg became
increasingly poor and she had to return to have a below the knee amputation. Ms. Rafat ended up
dying of pulmonary embolism as a complication of her second surgery. This case stayed with me

  • 2. The Hobbit s Major Accomplishments In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit, this was the start to his rise in literature with many best sellers and movies based on his bestselling books. He was won many awards for his work including the International Fantasy Award for Fiction for the Lord of the Rings novel in 1957. He was well known in the writing community for his achievements on the Lord of the Ringsas well as in poetry. In order to comprehend Tolkien you must first analyze his early life, his works, and how the world around him shaped his stories. Tolkien was a worldwide sensation to everyone who read his books and inspired many people into writing. Born January 3, 1892 in South Africa to Arthur and Mabel Tolkien. His father was a bank manager of the Bloemfontein ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It won 12 grammys and was loved by everyone that saw it, when the other two movies came out they averaged about the same in total earnings for each movie. The movies hold 17 out of 30 Academy Award nominations, the movie Return of the King is distinct by being the only fantasy film ever to have won the Academy Award for best picture. This goes to prove the effect that his writing had on the people around him, the detail that he had in each book gave the reader a clear and effective picture into the world that he had created. Tolkien loved children he had created The Hobbit for children, Tolkien once said Children are not a class. They are merely human beings at different stages of maturity. (Biography.com) This shows his competition for children knowing that they are not all they same and that they shouldn t be treated like a seperate class from the adults. He was raised in a time when children were seen and not heard . He wanted children to be apart of life and didn t think it was right for them to be treated like they were different. Because his son showed the same amount of curiosity and wonder for the world he finished multiple parts of the vast world that Tolkien created some of these works included The Silmarillion, and The Children of Hurin . These works are prequels to the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, they give the history of Middle Earth as it goes up to the point of the rings being made. At the end of his writing career he says I wish i would never have wrote the books this is because he was always bombarded by fan and could never get any peace. Everywhere he and his family went they were swarmed by fans, some would even go so far to call him and ask questions about the holes in the story plot. Some people were not fans of his work and called him a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Wayne Hunting Shoes Product Analysis: The Maine Hunting Shoe The L.L Bean Company named after its founder Leon Leonwood Bean has been in existence for over 100 years. The company was founded in 1912 and is located in Freeport, Maine. The company began in a single room in Maine selling its first and only product, the Maine HuntingShoe which is currently known as the L.L Bean Boot. The production of the first pair of the Maine boots can be traced back to 1911. The founder, Mr. L.L Bean was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors. Mr. L.L Bean discovered that while outdoors the usual pair of boots he adorned did not protect his feet from getting wet and cold. Mr. Leon, consequently, decided to design his own pair of outdoor shoes by combining the normal leather uppers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The boots main features have remained largely the same apart from a few tweaks, for instance, the addition of a chain pattern design in the late 1940 s. The demand for the boot has swung up and down over its 100 year history. In 2011, the outdoorsy aesthetic became somewhat cool, and after that, they have been a spate of shortages every few years. This typically happens after the autumn season (Lam, 2015). The fashion world has had a part to play in stemming up demand for the L.L Bean boot. Moreover, the production of the boot is still done within the United States and the materials are locally sourced in Maine. However, the downside of local production which still relies on man hours is that there are fewer people with the skill of handmaking footwear. The Maine boot s demand is at an all time high, and the end does not seem to be near. To capitalize on this, the company has produced a limited edition classic make over of the duck boot with varying colors and styles (Calfas, 2017). Such developments coupled with recurrent stock outs seem to be increasing demand for the boat. The boot has had more than 100 year history. Its aesthetics are not as glamorous, but its survival has largely depended on its quality, pricing and the fact that it is made in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Sacrifice In The Gift Of The Magi By O. Henry Stories of love and sacrifice abound in literature. Perhaps one of the most well known stories among teens and adults is the tale of a poor, young couple struggling to find the perfect Christmas gifts for each other using their very limited means. They each manage to get what they think is the perfect giftfor the other, but only accomplish this by selling a prized possession which effectively makes the new gifts impractical. This bittersweet narrative, The Gift of the Magi by O. Henry, illustrates the moral idea that a person, motivated by nothing but lovefor another, can possess a willingness to give in a self denying way which necessitates that the reader consider that wealth be measured by something more than having money... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Magi most likely came a long distance from Persia and sacrificed much to present their costly gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to the child. These gifts were esteemed not only because of their intrinsic value, such as the precious metal, gold, but also for their medicinal properties and were traditionally given to a king as a gift of honor. The Magi, also known as wise men or kings, are just that, wise men. They know the value of bringing the gifts to baby Jesus not because He needed gifts, but to show their devotion to Him. They brought these valuable gifts out of respect and love for the new Savior. Love is a defining force for Della and Jim too, overshadowing the poor condition of their finances. Jim and Della do not have much. They would most certainly be considered to be in the lower class, living in a little $8 a week flat in the city and going from a sufficient income of $30 a week to a less than adequate $20 a week with Jim in need of a new overcoat and pair of gloves (Henry). Henry articulates how their love for each other transforms their drab house and surroundings and gray circumstances into a warm and inviting refuge called home. One dollar and eighty seven cents. That was all Della had, not nearly enough to get a gift worthy of her beloved Jim (Henry). She desires nothing but to please him and considers him worthy of something ... • 5. Argumentative Essay On Tiger Parents Janice Mirikitani was born to Japanese American parents. She is a sansei (third generation Japanese American). She is a college student attending University of California Los Angeles. Mirikitani doesn t seem to be struggling in school, but while she is aiming for a 4.0, she seems to be falling a tab bit short. She was sent to my office because she had a breakdown in the middle of an exam in class. The professor was extremely worried about her, because she was one of his top students yet recently her grades started to fall lower and lower. Even with her grades falling slightly she is still doing an excellent job in class, exclaimed Professor Lanoue, and she is still one of my top students, but I ve noticed how stressed out she has been. The breakdown was the breaking point. I started off by asking her about light topics, like friends and significant others, but then I asked about her parents, and it really stuck her. With the way that Janice Mirikitani describes her parents, it seems as though they are tiger parents. Tiger parenting is a common used word to describe most Asian parents in America. Tiger parents are the extremely strict parents who push their children to be academically successful by being as close to perfection as possible. According to Yale Law professor Amy Chua, mothers gobble smack smack her children when her children fails their test like when tigers do when they find children. • 6. Relationship Between Layoffs And Voluntary Turnover Relationship between Layoffs and Voluntary Turnover As the world accelerates in advancements such as technology, the society is now capable of reaching greater heights in efficiency more than ever. The benefit of efficiency is not wasting any limited resources and time; however, it is not much so when business owners attempt to become more efficient by laying off their employees. In the business field, this strategy is called downsizing and it reduces the number of employees to operate the business more efficiently or especially during a crisis when the economy is unstable and the business cannot afford to maintain the current number of employees. As more and more businesses utilize downsizing, the question is, what is the impact on the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Psychological Spillover. This implies that a layoff experience gives a looser tie to the subsequent employment, which means that an individual feels psychological contract violations and amplified feelings of distrust, job insecurity, and he or she pays a greater attention to external job opportunities. These are all factors that can potentially lead to voluntary turnover. A psychological contract is the reciprocal exchange agreement between employee and employing organization, as perceived by the worker. A new employee has this general schema ( a set of expectations) of a psychological contract between him and his employer and when he is laid off, it negatively impacts the same general schema and it transfers over to his subsequent employment. Accordingly, once he starts working at his new job, he has lower expectations and feels less obligated to the employer leading to an increased likelihood of voluntary turnover. It is a similar situation with the other factors. When an individual is laid off and finds a new employment, he will start off with the corresponding trust and job security he felt when he was laid off which was heavily brought down thus far, and he pays a greater attention to external job opportunities because he does not trust nor feel a sturdy job security, therefore leading up to an ... • 7. Organ Donation In The United States There are more than 120,000 people in the United States that are waiting for a life saving organ transplant each year. Of that number, many are hoping for one or more of the five organs that can be donated while a person is still alive. Organ donation is the removal of a person s organ or partial organ, so another person can use it. Donating an organ while alive can save up to eight lives, and it can be done by people donating their organs out of the goodness of their heart. Unfortunately not all organs are donated for the right reasons. Therefore, the selling of organs should continue to be banned in the United States because it would result in health not always being the determining factor. Wealthy people can already afford to be on multiple... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... citizens should be allowed to be legally paid for the donation of their organs. Less than 17,000 patients, out of the 77,000 Americans on the waiting lists for a kidney, got a transplant in 2012. There were 4,903 patients that died while waiting for a kidney (Linde [17]). This shows that there is a big shortage of organs, but there are other ways to eliminate or at least reduce that problem. For instance, a new algorithm was created that is capable of matching donors to patients who need a kidney efficiently. It was created by Tuomas Sandholm and Avrim Blum, two computer science professors, and David J. Abraham, a graduate student in the computer science department. Sandholm and Pranjal Awasthi, a graduate student in the machine learning department, are working on developing newer versions of the algorithm to better the program. The project has shown that it can work and be effective in the medical community so far. Ten people successfully received transplants through the chain that started using the algorithm, according to the New England Journal of Medicine (The Tartan, Carnegie Mellon University). There are other programs like this that can be used to match patients with organs more efficiently. This could potentially help the organ donation rate rise due to people realizing how efficient the process can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Same Rights As American Citizens 2.The same rights as American citizens. It is unfair to arrest millions of undocumented immigrants. Conservatives only support legal immigration and oppose amnesty for those who enter the U.S. illegally (illegal immigrants). Those who break the law by entering the U.S. illegally do not have the same rights as those who obey the law and enter legally. The borders should be secured before addressing the problem of the illegal immigrants currently in our country. The Federal Government should enforce current immigration law to ensure not only our safety, but the illegal activity taking place in our country today. There are other good alternatives to welfare. Private charities can successfully serve the poor. Arnold Kling quotes, Those organizations that work directly with poor people stand a better chance of learning how to meet their needs (Bily, 2009, p 71). He believes charitable organizations are more flexible, accountable, and efficient. The poor would be better served by a new tax policy directing more money to private charities and less to the federal and state government. The role of charitable organizations is better than the government as a source of aid. It is easier for donors or volunteers to hold charitable organizations accountable than it is for taxpayers to hold government accountable. Failed government programs can go on forever, but an unsuccessful charity has a more difficult time obtaining adequate funding. In 2005, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Somebody with Munchausen Syndrome might not feel so distraught at first, it is more of a satisfying feeling for them. An individual with this disorder intentionally gets their children sick or exaggerates the symptoms, possibly even to the point it results in murder. They enjoy and feed off the attention and sympathy they receive from family and friends even hospitalpersonnel. Back in 1972, Jennifer, Mr. and Mrs. Tinning s eight year old daughter had passed away from acute meningitis. As a very detached and cold husband already, Mr. Tinning showed no support or sympathy towards his grieving wife after their daughter s passing. It did however bring a wave of sympathy from family and friends. Just shy of 3 weeks following Jennifer s death, Marybeth had to rush her two year old son to the hospital where he was pronounced dead due to a viral infection accompanied by a seizure disorder. Unfortunately no autopsy was performed. The once lonely and ignored practical nurse just had to experience not losing just one, but two children within only 3 weeks time. Marybeth could not help but notice how the deaths of her children brought a tremendous amount of attention and sympathy. Now remember it is only 1972, it wasn t until a couple years later in 1977 that medical field and law enforcement became more aware of this upcoming condition that could lead to homicidal motives. Six weeks after the second child, Joseph s death, calamity hit the Tinning family when four year old Barbra had passed. Although suspicious were growing after now a third child from the Tinning family had died, all foul play was ruled out due to cause of death being cardiac arrest. Roughly a year and a half later after Barbra s unexpected death and two prior, their two week old son died in the hospital while being treated for a mysterious illness brought in by Mrs. Tinning. • 10. Heat Waste Of Lightbulbs Lab Report Heat Waste of Common Lightbulbs Introduction The purpose of my experiment was to see how much energy was wasted in different types and wattages of lightbulbs through the output of heat. The initial objective of the project was to research the variety of lightbulbs available on the market today including their wattage and other important features pertaining to their operation before starting the experiment. The reports provided information that first helped me to formulate a plan to calculate heat energy, measured in calories. I was then able to subsequently convert the heat energy into joules which is a more commonly used unit of energy. This was accomplished by multiplying the amount of calories produced through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The data also shows that CFL bulbs were a very close second in the amount of wasted heat energy per watt.. This was expected because the CFL bulbs, like the LEDs, do not need to heat up something to cast light. The results of this experiment can be used in many different practical situations. For instance, when setting up a light source near something that could easily catch on fire, it would not be a good idea to use one of the bulbs that give off a lot of heat energy. Also, if you want to use the most efficient bulb, you should consider the one that turns most of the energy it uses into light energy like the LED ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this method, the challenges from that emanated from the previous methods are solved through the development of a quicker way that solves the same problems in a short duration. The goal of the project was to obtain an easier methodology that can help in solving systems of eigen problems. In particular the study aimed at obtaining anything that solve a collection of problems. The new methodology adopted not only maintains the solution requirements but also introduces systematic improvability. Through the new insights added to the new method which distinguishes it from the previous methodologies, the required accuracy coupled with a fewer degree of freedom can be achieved. Methodology and key results The methodology surrounds the solution of a quantum mechanical Schrodinger equation for large complex systems such as insulating or metallic materials at either ambient or extreme conditions. The wave equation is first modified in the form of Kohn Sham equation. The solution is then derived from the assumption that there is a linear combination of piecewise polynomials. The formulation of the Schrodinger problem within the infinite crystal is then reduced using the boundary value problem within the confines of a unit finite cell which is then extended to the crystal potential which consists of an array of atoms. The formulation showed that for higher derivatives of the first order, there exist finite discontinuities at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. La Mission Movie Analysis Symbolic Representations One of the symbolic representations in La Mission is where it takes place, in the mission district of San Francisco. It represents the traditional stance of Che the main character and compares it to the shift to a more hipster neighborhood with new people like Lena moving in who haven t been in the neighborhood until recently. He also restores old cars into low riders which is historically Mexican American style of car. The music featured in this movie is a mix of traditional chorales, native drums and guitars mixed with newer more modern version that also show the transition that this community and culture are facing coming to terms with change and homosexualitythat is culturally unacceptable. On the other hand, the movie Walkout shows a symbolic representation in the movie in the form of the main characters father who has a traditional blue collar job and represents the barrier that many Chicano s faced at that time. Another is the school teacher Sal who really has risen above and escaped the life most Chicano s are facing. This comparison is mirrored in the way some students like Paula are encouraged to attend college while others are told to go into a low paying trade. Arguments From my perspective it s the judgement of homosexuality that is portrayed in the movie. Riddled throughout the movie is drugs, other deities and violence. In the aftermath of both the Pequot and King Philip s War, there were casualties from the Indians, and the negative connotations concerning natives grew until the extreme paranoia over the violence of Indians became common thought. Through these wars we also begin to see the idea of Manifest Destiny and the frontier becoming important to the Americas, while after the wars the respect previously given to alliances concerning Indians decreased. When looking at captivity narratives there is many different characteristics that can show if the document is reliable outside of any bias the author brought or that was inherent in the culture of that period. Defining a captivity narrative is a difficult job for many reasons. The chief reason is that since there are so many written concerning Indian captivity, it becomes necessary to have a category list or a type of checklist that could be used to look at the validity of a narrative as well as showcasing if it would be useful in any form. Looking through the narratives, defining good examples of narratives is necessary to show the reality of the situation for that period in terms of the idea of Indians and what helped to further found the inherent fear of whites over Indian capturing of white settlers as well as Indian violence. • 14. Analysis Of John Milton s The Fall Of Mankind Essay The story of the fall of mankind, explored by John Milton in his epic Paradise Lost, has a way of defining the roles of solitude through its characters, and through those definitions the effects solitude has overall. The epic explores how the good and bad of what happens when one is left alone in their thought, and deep into it, a question is asked by a main character, who can enjoy alone, or all enjoying, what contentment find? (Book 8. Line 365 66). The way alone is defined is having no one else present, on one s own ; taking or acting on its own ; and no one or nothing else besides, exclusive of all other people or things . All three definitions will be explored, because in ways each definition applies to more than one character, and some characters are defined by more than one definition of alone. The way solitude is presented in Paradise Lostis that the time spent in solitude distances the characters from each other, and allows for both good and evil to come from their time spent alone. The main characters define solitude in their own way, some even use more definitions than others, and they share definitions among each other. Starting with Godwho is never alone, although God experiences solitude in the sense that God is one of a kind, which was an early sentiment shared with Adam before Eve was created. Satan in solitude allows for him to concoct schemes to ruin God s plans. Adam begins alone, and he does not like it, going as far as to fall along Eve because of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Henry had close interest in the marriages of the nobility because under the feudal system, his permission was required for marriage. In the Middle Ages, it was common for powerful nobles to marry heiresses creating vast estates over which they had almost complete power. To stop this happening, Henry ensured that leading magnates and their sons did not marry heiresses, thus preventing the creation of super nobles . This prevented families such as the Stafford s and the Percy s from becoming too powerful. He also gave the inheritance of many unmarried women to the Crown. In this way Henry was really successful in limiting the power of nobility. Henry, whilst respecting the local authority of the nobles, minimised their power in his central council. Plants are an essential part of survival for humans and animals and contribute significantly to various areas of the lives of organisms. In order to better understand the different plants and its requirements the growth and germination rates were investigated. The hypothesis stated that if the dicotolydeons and monocotyledons are placed in the same environment and watered regularly, then the dicotyledons will have a faster growth and germination rate. In order for plants to survive, it is a necessity for the process of photosynthesis to occur. Photosynthesis is the process wherein plants create oxygen and food for themselves (glucose) using carbon dioxide, water and energy from the sun. Once this process is completed, plants are able to grow using the nutrients provided by photosynthesis. Word equation: carbon dioxide + water (SUNLIGHT AND CHLORYPHYLL) glucose + oxygen There are many factors that affect photosynthesis such as light availability, carbon dioxide concentration and temperature. Light is a limiting factor as if there is not enough light available, the rate of photosynthesis will decrease. This is because without the light, the chlorophyll (not be created) will be unable to absorb energy from the sun, resulting in no food which is required for survival. Temperature plays an essential role in photosynthesis as well. As the temperature increases, so does the rate of photosynthesis. TINA, which comes from Maggie Thatcher, who said, There Is No Alternative to global economy T I N A (Shuman, 2002). And LOIS, which stands for Local Ownership and Import Substitution (Shuman, 2002). TINA is the system that has been used for the pasted 60 to 70 years, and throughout that time the way we produced are food has become both productive and efficient; but it has also become destructive and unhealthy. In A TINA based food economy, food is either mass produced through the process of industrial farming or it is imported from other countries. These lead to adverse effects on the food, the environment and the economy. However, in a LOIS based food economy, food is produced locally through locally owned businesses, then the more you can minimize your vulnerability to nasty surprises, the more you can maximize your economic multiplier, and the more you can maximize tax proceeds to the public sector and the many good things that come from it. (Shuman, 2002). So in simpler terms the more you produce locally, the better local economies will be and if local economies have a large income then the nations income will increase by way of tax. In fact, as I am writing this, I have only been on the phones once since I just recently completed training. For this assignment, I am going to use a hypothetical dilemma based on things I have witnessed during my observation shifts, my knowledge of Headquarters Counseling Center, and my role as a social work intern. The emotional reactions I discuss will be true of how I feel while imaging the situation. At Headquarters, our primary focus is suicideprevention. As a social work intern, I see what the agency does at many different levels. Answering the phones, though, is just beginning for me. Counseling on the hotline will be my main job at my internship, so I will be discussing a dilemma based on the phone counseling portion of my work. When talking to suicidal others (people who are calling us because they are concerned that someone else in their life is suicidal) on the hotline, it is extremely important for us to assess the level of seriousness of the situation and counsel the caller through the process as well. Often times, these callers wantus to either call the suicidal person for them, teach them the skills to help their friend/family member/etc. on their own, or want us to call 911 to check on them. We reserve calling dispatch for when it is completely necessary. However, what if it is necessary but the suicidal person refuses the help? Garrison s time entailed slavery that stretched to the American south accompanied with denial of rights from the African Americans. • 37. Fly By Wire Essay Aircraft Feature; Fly By Wire Technology Fly by wire is a new technology in aircrafts that has replaced the manual flight control with electronic controls. In this technology the flight control signals are converted into electrical signals which are transmitted to the processors through electric wires and the computer determines the movement of the actuators according to the control command (Crane 2002). Moreover, this system sends out certain commands to the computer without any input from the pilot, these commands are mainly transmitted for a more stable flight. The fly by wire system also allows automatic signals sent by the aircraft s computers to perform functions without the pilot s input, as in systems that automatically help stabilize the aircraft. Mechanical and hydro mechanical flight controls system comprise of all heavy steel cables, metallic pipes with hydraulic fluid, cables and pulleys which adds to the air craft total weight thus slowing it down and decreasing its full efficiency. Both systems frequently need unnecessary backup to tackle mechanical failures, which further increases weight. Additionally, both have inadequate capability to adjust to changing aerodynamic conditions. Dangerous maneuverability such as stalling, spinning and pilot induced oscillation (PIO), which is dependent chiefly on the strength and configuration of the aircraft concerned rather than the control system itself, can still occur with these systems (Crane 2002). • 38. Building A Wireless Infrastructure Backbone System Introduction Currently much importance is given to optimizing business without affecting the production and process. When a new distribution centre s build or an existing one is being upgraded with a warehouse management system, a wireless network structure should be provided which need to be regarded as the integral part of the process. This is an important part because connection issues may arise due to lack in connectivity without wireless connection. Eventually this will impact the data collection capabilities from other floors, mostly form the ground to top floor (Lu, W., Giannikas, V., McFarlane, D., Hyde, J. (2014). A wireless networkinfrastructure building starts with a design and then with a map which will describe the mapping of the wireless access points. It also needs to create a plan for installing the cable which will run throughout the distribution centre. The reason behind this planning is to build a wireless infrastructure backbone that will be implemented and which can have the capability to support the whole planning in the distribution centre. To get proper wireless signals throughout the premises a well planning of the wireless system is essential along with successful implementation. Planning and Implementation Although it sound very easy to implement the whole process but the reality is that it involves lot of elements and components which need to be taken care of while project implementation. • 40. Life In The Trenches Narrative Essay It s been three days since my regiment was sent to fight in the trenches on the Western Front of this Two Front War or more befittingly, The War to End All Wars . When we arrived, we were greeted with open arms by British Soldiers that called us Doughboys . A few soldiers happily showed us around the trenches and warned us about the high water level and mud, explaining how it can lead to vile trench feet . The soldiers also warned us of the danger that is German poison gas attacks and how we should always have a gas mask on hand. Finally, we were all given rations, a few trench arts that some soldiers made in their spare time, and a speech that still resonates with me. A young British sergeant stood up on a stool and told us that he believes that we can finally end the stalemate with the Germans and stick it to their pig of a leader, Kaiser Willhelm II. I then retired to a loathsome barrack filled with lice, mice, and flies.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I hurriedly equipped myself with a gas mask, trench knife, and rifle. I remember also being shocked by the chaos on the battlefield, it was nothing like how it was in training. Grenades were flying and shrapnel was being launched everywhere, accompanied by the onslaught of bullets coming from both sides. No one dared to go over the top and charge into the mine and barbed wire ridden No Man s Land, having it to where no progress was being made by both sides. Paper Proposal Eman Haggagi Philosophy 101 Paper Proposal Islam does not promote violence and terrorism I believe that there have been many misconceptions of Islam that are portrayed and plastered all over the news, media and even billboard for years now. Millions of Muslims living in the western world have found themselves under a lot of inspection by their societies. Charles Peirce a philosopher who is known for his methods for fixing belief proves a good point and idea in order for people to be more considerable of their thoughts and beliefs to reason correctly before judging the Islamic religion to be promoting violence. People instead of judging all people in Islam and any religion, should be thinking more maturely as to who is the evil doer, instead of taking their anger out on innocent people and the wellbeing in society to keep a unity in the world. However, another famous philosopher whom I disagree with who argues Peirce s methods of belief is David Hume. Hume believes that of which to avoid all problems, all religious belief should be rid of. The question whether Islam promotes violence and terrorism is a question that I believe is an answer many people don t understand the answer to and lack the knowledge of their own to make the distinction. • 43. History of Hearing Aids Essay The story of the hearing aid depicts one of the most ridiculous timelines of technological advancements in all of history. Although we modernly think of a hearing aid as a small device which is inserted into the ear canal, the reality is that a hearing aid is an apparatus that amplifies sound and compensates for impaired hearing. Thus, I invite you to expand your mind, and draw your attention to the intriguing, and absolutely absurd, timeline of the hearing aid. The most common model of the ancestral hearing aid is that of the simple ear trumpet. This was a small, pipe looking device which was carved from either bull s horn or seashell, and was held up to the ear in order to amplify sound. The audible result of such would ... One end was placed to the lips of the speaker, while the other end was placed close to the ear of the hearing deficient listener. Effective, yet not exactly attractive to look at... Finally, in 1901, the first electric hearing aids were designed. Consisting of a carbon microphone, a processing unit, a battery box, and a headpiece, this hearing aid served merely as a personalized microphone/amplifier. It was bulky, heavy, and expensive to buy (at about $400.00 each), but it worked! Thus, its successors followed the same model, but the goal became a matter of size. It wasn t until 1953 that a person could wear a hearing aid that would go largely unnoticed. The Oticon pocket model was an aid that looked very much like an iPod its components being a small, pocket sized battery and processor, and an earpiece which look about the same as what we would now call an earbud . On page 68, Crooks responded to Lennie s sudden entrance, You go on get outta my room. I ain t wanted in the bunkhouse, and you ain t wanted in my room. Earlier chapters describe how he was not allowed to sleep in the bunkhouse with everyone else and had to be separated in a room by himself. Moreover, it is a rare occasion does people ever visit him, on the exception for Slim. The obvious interpretation would be the connection it holds to the racism that existed at the time, but I perceived a deeper connection behind his response. • 52. The Economic Implications Of The Civilization Of India One of these complications was their Economic instability. Following the partition, the first consequence, was the uneven distribution of area and population. India was burdened with with 82% of the population and only procured 77% of the total area. The remaining 18% of population along with 23% of the total area went over to Pakistan. However, it is only when we look at the way in which the agricultural resources were distributed, that the real loss that Indiaexperiences become evident. Respective of the partition, 84% of the diffused area was handed to India, while the remaining 16% went to Pakistan. Although Pakistan got slightly less than what its population would demand, they more than made up for it, through the benefit of irrigation facilities. Out of the 70 million acres of irrigated land in the undivided country, 67% (48 million) went to India and 33% (22 million) went to Pakistan. Ergo, 45.2% of the total area Pakistan dominated, was made up of irrigation works, the reciprocal percentage in the Republic of India was only 18.9%. Pakistan, not only received a larger share of irrigated land, but also, India had the percentage of irrigated land that was only of protective nature (eg. they were only in place as last resort in times of famine conditions as opposed to feeding the entire population). This was especially so of the irrigation land in the South of India, notably in Bombay, Mysore and Madras. The partition, therefore, hauled India to have greater dependence on the whimsical of rainfall, reckoning for the their annual fluctuations in agricultural production. This was detrimental to India s well being as even before the partition, India had a shortcoming in food, more specifically grains. This partition only further aggravated the problem. This can be seen through India having 82% of the population, but only producing 65% of the total crops. This was not so for the Pakistani population as they produced about one million tonnes of surplus food. The partition was therefore conducive in precipitating a net loss of 700,000 800,000 of annual supply in the Indian union.
