Disadvantages Of Raspberry Pi Board
The Raspberry Pi is a single computer board with credit card size that can be used for many tasks that
the computer does, like games, word processing, spreadsheets and also to play HD video. It was
established by the Raspberry Pi foundation from the UK and has been ready for public consumption
since 2012 with the idea of making a low cost educational microcomputer for students and children.
The Raspberry Pi board is a portable and low cost [10].
The Raspberry Pi comes in two models, they are model A and model B. The main difference between
model A and model B is USB port. Model A board will consume less power and that does not include
an Ethernet port. But, the model B board includes an Ethernet port and designed in china. The

My Biggest Contribution For The Uconn Community Will Be My...
My biggest contribution to the UConn community will be my fearlessness. I m not afraid of being
proved wrong, I m not afraid of failing, and I m never afraid of proving myself. When I m working at
robotics I don t tell people to solve problems creatively, I actively engage in their discussion and love
playing the devil s advocate. For example, this year when we were brainstorming the best drive train
systems to use for a design challenge they all wanted to do a basic 3x3 system and simply use six
CIMotors instead of the standard four. So, I challenged them. I presented 6 valuable reasons why
mecanum wheels with 4 CIMotors would work way better and then challenged them to tell me why I
m wrong. They couldn t, but mecanum wheels are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But, that doesn t change the fact that I m one of the three most experienced members on that team
when it comes to course directions, techniques, and pitfalls to avoid. But my admittedly disappointing
fitness level means that I get a lot of sass from the freshmen and sophomores I m trying to teach. They
challenge my knowledge base and ability to teach them skills I ve mastered because of my unrelated
fitness level. But every day I go back and I challenge their beliefs; I get on my rollerskis and show
them how my balance, technique, and form are not at all related to my 5k times. I m not afraid of their
judgement or scorn and instead to go and I actively show through my actions that I m not afraid to
prove myself to them. I know what I can and cannot and that s all I need to confidently advise and
correct them while they learn. I m not afraid to teach a doubting mind and I m not afraid of being
challenged where I work. I m fearless, and that s something every community needs. blech Three
experiences in my life truly defined my goal of going into medicine; my injuries, research
experiences, and shadowing experience. My personal injuries over the course of my life really ignited
my interest in medicine. The truth is, I m an incredibly accomplished bone breaker. Mostly, I break
myself by walking into things, all 8 of my broken toes were fractured by being slammed in a door or

Delicate Dish Towel Experiment
I ve used several different laundry bags for washing over the years and have to say these Delicates
Laundry Bags from Inside Smarts are by far my favorite! I put these through quite a test, too! See the
photos I attached below to follow along with my testing. Obviously, the majority of the time I will use
these laundry bags for my most delicate and intimate washables, but I wanted to test how these bags
from Inside Smarts really held up, so I filled them with kitchen dish towels. I decided to use dish
towels in my testing because they are definitely heavier than most of the types of items I will wash in
the bags, but just in case I ever wanted to wash a sweater I figured the dish towels would also give me
somewhat of an idea of that experience, too. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

washing machine. According to the directions, you are to tuck the zipper pull on the laundry bag
inside the elastic Smart Guard (see photo below). I did tuck in the zipper pull on the large bag,
however, I purposely didn t do this on the medium bag. As you can see from my photos below, all of
the dish towels fell out of the medium white bag, therefore, I highly recommend you don t forget to

Sports And Sports Essay
Have you ever thought of how the media portrays sports to the general public?Well the media talks
about sports a good amount of times, showing that they have an interest talking about the overall
topics of sports. Sports is arguably one of the most entertaining and hyped up activities in the whole
world for it creates action packed thrills, sad moments, and insane tricks that provides quality
entertainment and fun times with friends and family. If there was 2 people feeling lonely and bored in
their house with absolutely nothing to do and are willing to do something proactive with friends and
family, sports would be something amazing to do instead of being inactive and lousy.Media portrayed
sports as a fun and entertaining activity to watch and make conversation about. This in fact is true
because sports creates drama and intensity to the people who watch it, helps provide something to
look forward to in the near future, and brings friends and family together. Media shows us that Sports
is generally one of the most entertaining things to watch in the world for the fact that it creates
intensity and drama for the people who are gonna watch a game or to the viewers watching the game.
Whether if it s soccer, basketball, or football people tend to love watching other people running around
competing against each other for bragging rights (Urban). For example, let s say the super bowl is

Personal Narrative Immigration

I was born in 2002 in Kampala, Uganda, a small landlocked country in East Africa, dubbed the
nickname ´Pearl of Africa´. In 2006, leaving behind the faces of family members my family of 7

of conflict or a terrible dictator. We moved simply because we had the resources that others around the
world don´t have.
In Syria, 2,500 people have died on boats due to the current war. They have sought for refuge in the

What Are Bedouin Tribals
Bedouin tribes were traditionally nomadic peoples of the Arabian Peninsula and North Africa who
migrated between the desert and cultivated land according to the season. It is this itinerant lifestyle
that equipped this group with a vast knowledge of survival skills and enabled their endurance in harsh
desert environments for centuries. Through the harvest of water and trade of goods and services in
exchange for food, water and currency, they were able to migrate across Europe and ultimately to
unite under a single cultural identity in the seventh century. United under the Islamic faith prior to the
death of the Prophet Muhammad in 632CE, what had been a small cluster of nomadic tribes and
traders became a formidable force. With direction from

Biographical Summary On Frankenstein
Biographical Summary Author Mary Shelley was born August 30th, 1797 to philosopher and writer
William Godwin and feminist Mary Wollstonecraft. Mary s mother passed away early in Shelley s life
and wasn t a prominent figure. Her father remarried another woman named Mary Jane Clairmont.
Shelley and her stepmother rarely got along so a female role model was not something Shelley
received in her early years. Clairmont refused to send Shelley to be educated at a school but has no
hesitation when sending her own daughter. Even without a formal education Shelley would still
attempt to seek knowledge through books and would often daydream to escape the everyday struggles
of her life at home. She also took up writing as an activity in which to ... Show more content on

It didn t get any easier when two more of Mary and Percy s children passed away at a young age. Only
one of their infants lived past their childhood and into adulthood. Years later, Mary was impacted with
another heartache when her husband drowned in 1822. Leaving Mary a widow at 24 to care for her
son and herself. She continued to write and eventually passed away at the age of 53 in 1851.
Critical analysis
The novel Frankenstein, by Mary Shelley, was a piece written in 1817 during a time when women
weren t considered to be adequate authors. Shelley s work is both intriguing as it is thought provoking.
She brings to light the true nature of society and life altogether when tested. She factors in how the
outside world can influence our choices in writing. George Levine from The Ambiguous Heritage of
Frankenstein and Benjamin Truitt from Frankenstein Critical Analysis and Literary Criticism both
share their opinions about Shelley s piece of written work. Frankenstein is a story full of questions and
excitement. What is interesting about Shelley s novel is the absence of God and multiple female
characters. She ignores the proper way of conception and birth. Due to this, the science of what Victor
accomplished had gone awry. His goal while creating the monster was a perfect race in which they
would help mankind, even though the dream of the new race is...exploded in the end (Levine 12).

Analysis Of Night By Elie Wiesel And First They Killed My...
When a person recalls an emotional situation, it can be difficult for them to explain to others exactly
how they felt when the event occurred. Authors attempt to communicate these tough experiences using
a variety of literary devices which include symbolism, irony, and theme. Night by Elie Wiesel, and
First They Killed My Father by Loung Ung are two pieces of literature that recollect the memories of
the authors during traumatic events; Night is set during the Holocaust, while the latter is set in
Cambodia during the harsh rule of Pol Pot. The literary devices present in each text are utilized by
Wiesel and Ung in unique and similar ways to communicate the extent of what they felt . Both novels
utilized symbols in order to relay importance to the readers, particularly during the times when the
speakers viewed something horrific. In First They Killed My Father, Ung attempts to symbolize Pol
Pot, her father, and even the clothing of the Khmer Rouge. She almost describes Pol Pot as being a
supernatural all seeing eye type figure one she became set on trying to kill later on in the future as
vengeance. Her father represented the glue and power that held Loung s family together once he had
died, his children (Loung s brothers) had continued to try and fill in his shoes by providing food, while
Loung had continued to be inspired by him. The clothing of the Khmer Rouge became a symbol of the
regime, along with all the horror it had created. Indeed, Loung noticed that she could

Leisure And Leisure Time Vs. Leisure Time
We do not only gain utility from our consumption. We also gain utility from leisure. Leisure time is
the time you spend outside of work. In the similar way of maximizing utility from our purchases, we
decide the number of hours of work that will yield us the highest utility, in other words, that makes us
the happiest. People make money by giving up some leisure time. The more leisure hours you
sacrifice to go to work, the more income you earn. Leisure time or activities are contrasted, implicitly
or directly, with worktime or productive activities. (Moore and Hedges, 1971) Leisure time could be
used for vacation, resting, playing golf or other activities that we enjoy doing. Thus, economists see
leisure as a normal good that provides us with satisfaction. On the other hand, income generates
purchasing power so we can purchase goods and services we desire. In other words, income gives us
satisfaction in an indirect way. As both income and leisure yield utility, everyone has their own
indifference curve between income and leisure, depending on personal preferences.
An indifference curve is constituted by a set of combinations of income and leisure hours that yield
the same level of utility. Indifference curves are downward sloping and convex to the origin. They are
parallel to each other they do not intersect. The distance between an indifference curve and the origin
indicates the utility level of the individual, as it gets longer, the satisfaction of the individual becomes

Examples Of Atonement In The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner
In the poem The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Coleridge uses the method of storytelling to
acknowledge and implement the reader into the situations that the Mariner faces. Coleridge does this
by implementing vivid imagery into his poem to create a tale that we the readers can easily follow
such as the tales we tell one another today to learn or understand different concepts in modern day life.
The concept of sin and atonement are the allegories that we learn about in The Rime of the Ancient
Mariner; we learn that with sin comes the reprimand of a supernatural figure; however the prejudice
one faces helps lead to the forgiveness the Mariner learns to find within himself. The poem contains

Change Of The Century By Ornette Coleman Analysis
In the scope of the jazz community, Ornette Coleman is one of the most prominent representatives of
free jazz. Coleman is known for his free jazz compositions as well as his saxophone performances.
Throughout his piece, Change of the Century , one can hear the saxophonist and trumpeter playing
trills and scale patterns. The sounds are abrupt and are played on random beats of the measure. To give
some historical context, when Coleman s album, Change of the Century, was released in 1960, Martin
Luther King Jr. and other activists were staging sit ins in Southern restaurants. With the political
climate of the 1960s in perspective, to the educated listener, the bursts of sound in Change of the
Century now seem indignant. It is not hard to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the instruments of free jazz are the same, the standard jazz composition patterns are not.
According to German musicologist Ekkehard Jost, the only rule of free jazz is the negation of
traditional norms (Jost 9). While other styles like bebop or swing have set measures or keys, free jazz
does not have the same constraints. There are no fixed rhythms, melodies, and harmonies; if Coleman
started a song in the key of Bb, there was no say in what key he would end with. Coleman s free jazz
songs also have another recurring component: harmolodics. In an interview with Wire magazine,
Coleman defines harmolodics as an element where all ideas all relationships and harmony are equally
in unison ( Interview with Ornette Coleman ). Upon reading this vague definition, the real meaning of
harmolodics escapes both myself and many other jazz scholars. Nevertheless, these improvised
sections between instruments are present in many of Coleman s songs. The term free jazz was first
coined from Coleman s album titled Free Jazz: A Collective Improvisation. The album starts off with
all of the woodwinds and brass and continues with improvised solos from the clarinet, trumpet,
saxophone, bass, and drums. Coleman uses the twelve bar blues form and experiments with harmonic
improvisation between the musicians. Reviews for Coleman s album were conflicting; Pete Welding,
record producer, gave the recordings five stars, citing it is by all odds

Voter Identification Law Essay
While it has been one of the hottest topics in the election policy for the last several years, its legacy
actually extends back to 1950 which is when South Carolina first request that voters show some type
of identifications document at the polls. Back then, no photo was required, they needed only any
document that bear the voter s name. After that, in 1970, Hawaii took on the same approach as South
Caroline toward voting requirement. However, in all these states, they were still able to cast a regular

Secondhand Smoke Is Unhealthy For Everyone, Especially For...
Secondhand smoke is unhealthy for everyone, especially for young children. Children are more
susceptible to suffer the detrimental health effects of secondhand smoke because they breathe in more
air than adults due to their size and weight. In addition, children are constantly growing and
developing. During their development stage, children are more sensitive to the consequences of
secondhand smoke, which is ultimately dangerous to their immune and respiratory systems.
Furthermore, secondhand smoke is significantly harmful to children with asthma, which is a chronic
health condition whose symptoms include coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath. Children,
both with and without asthma, are powerless to protect themselves from the dangers of secondhand
smoke, so we the adults have to protect them. Secondhand smoke, also referred to as environmental
tobacco smoke, primarily comes from cigars and cigarettes The effects of breathing in secondhand
smoke is equivalent to smoking a cigarette. In addition, the chemicals released by cigarettes and cigars
contain many poisons, such as benzene, butane, ammonia, toluene, and hydrogen cyanide (American
Lung Association). These poisons from secondhand smoking are prevalent in children s surroundings,
causing them to breathe these toxins in homes, day cares, and cars. Children who are exposed to these
toxins are at an increased risk for sudden infant death syndrome, acute respiratory infections such as

Analysis Of The Article When Brothers Share A Wife By...
Polygamy continues to be frowned upon greatly in the United States despite the recent steps toward
legalizing different marriage arrangements and polygamy s attempt to go mainstream with television
shows that give the outside world an inside view of their lifestyle. In Tibet, however, polyandry (a
form of polygamy) has been a part of the culture for as long as anyone can remember and does not
seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. In the article, When Brothers Share a Wife by Melvyn C.
Goldstein, polyandry is explored in all aspects, including age, dynamics, and purpose.
The author begins by setting the stage with a single case where a man, Dorje, is set to marry a woman
who will also be marrying his two brothers, Pema and Sonam. This one case example is used
throughout the article to support various points on the subject. Goldstein moves right into defining
fraternal polyandry as a marriage of two or more brothers marrying one woman who then moves into
the family home. Like other cultures, this marriage is typically arranged with the persons who are
marrying having little to no say in the decision. The actual marriage ceremony differs depending on
income and location factors.
Goldstein then flows into the dynamics of authority and familial relations, as these are one of the first
topics people speculate about. It is shared that the oldest brother is typically the dominant brother but
everything from work to the wife is shared equally in all ways. The question of how the

Similarities Between Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde
Man or Monster: Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Degeneracy was not just confined to the lower classes,
criminals, and other dregs of society, but applicable to the upper class as well. Jekyll was a well
renowned doctor, but he still grew impatient of having to be morally upright all the time. He seeks to
rid himself of these burdens by releasing his Other self. According to Jekyll s narration, both he and
Hyde existed before the discovery of the salt that enabled them to become seperate: I learned to
recognise the thorough and primitive duality of man; I saw that, of the two natures that contended in
the field of my consciousness, even if I could rightly be said to be either, it was only because I was
radically both (Stephenson 49). Man is not truly one, but truly two, Jekyll relates, appearing to support
the theory suggesting that each brain hemisphere might house a separate personality, indeed, a
separate soul (Stevenson 48). The dual hemisphere theory states that the left side of the brain is the
rational side while the right side can be described as the instinctual, chaotic side. [O]ne would have to

In the beginning of Lost was born, however, it has no ambition. In 2004, ABC invited the scriptwriter
whose good at sci fi story, JJ Abrams, to create a script about plane crashed and how those survivors
save themselves on the island. However, both JJ and the other two scripywriters, Damon Lindelof and
Jeffrey Lieber agree that the story should not be too simple. Then they began to complicate the story,
who knows the creation can not stop. The two hours opening is just as fascinating as a film. and that is
just the beginning. Invisible monster, polar bears, mysterious jungle waves comes out one after
another, challengeing the imagination of audience. Only like CSI, in each set of independent episodes

Bryan Burk recalls that: in 2004, there were two things that TV drama could not touch, which are TV
series and science fiction. As we know, Lost accounts for both of them. Surprisingly, the premiere of
Lost attracted 19 million viewers. This was considered as doomed tragedy , but now it becomes so
popular. By this time, the scriptwriter thinks about how to continue to catch audience s attention, how
can this be a very ambitious story, in a reasonable and let everybody unexpected ways to continue?
Executive producer Carlton Cuse joined and made a plan with Lindelof together. The plan is deny all

Pompeii Report
In Italy, there is a little place called Pompeii. Pompeii is a great place to go on vacation there is a lot of
very neat things to see. The beginning of the presentation on Pompeii began with pictures of the great
tourist sites along with some background information on the city. The city of Pompeii was burned
under ash in a massive eruption in 1780. It was founded by the Oscan people with a population around
20 thousand people. The question asked was why does this matter? Why should people know about
this? They are three main reason why people should know about the City of Pompeii. Through this
presentation, I learned the life of the people of Pompeii, what the early Christianity was up against,
and finally the remains of the city and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The presentation on Pompeii was given by presenter Joel Pless. Presenter Pless did a great job
presenting on Pompeii he used multiple tools of communication to keep his audience engaging and
interesting to listen to. Presenter Pless used visuals, storytelling, humor, written outline and
questioning. Visuals like maps of Italy and the city of Pompeii were presented using a PowerPoint.
The presenter also showed pictures that he took himself when he toured Pompeii. The fact that the
pictures were taken himself really made the presentation more credible and relatable. Presenter Pless
told stories about his experience of touring Pompeii. Through this presentation, I felt like I was on the
tour and presenter Pless was my guide. From the stories and the visuals, I was able to stay engaged
through the entire presentation. By using humor presenter Pless was able to keep the presentation
serious, but also fun. My favorite statement was when he said, Papa Murry s love at 425. Lastly by
having a outline handed out before hand it made the presentation easy to follow and kept the presenter
orderly and organized. The outline was divided up in three sections; volcano, venue, and victims of
Pompeii. Having each section of the presentation divided up I was able to take very detailed notes and
gather my thoughts in an organized fashion. In conclusion, the presentation was very informative and
was presented very professionally to all audience members. Hard work was put into this presentation
and presenter Pless presented the information

Personal Narrative-It s Good
It s Good! Those two words caused the dimples on my cheek to be more visible than ever, as I refused
not to show my joyful emotions. It was a cold winter day, but it didn t stop parents and fans from
coming to watch Our Lady of the Lake take on Our Lady of Sorrows at home. I personally had a
strong disliking for OLL (Our Lady of the Lake) for years I had to deal with never being able to beat
them. Scores that made us embarrassed as a team, unfortunately was was always the case when we
played The Lake. However, when I looked at my schedule that year, and realized that this would be

I was thinking of different ways this game could go, and every single way resulted in a Sorrow s lost.
Our minute was up, and it was time to take the court again for the most nerve racking thirty seconds of

whistle and Lake players began moving all over, their big man set a hard screen on me, allowing for
their point guard to get up for a corner three. As soon as the ball left his hands, I knew it was going in,
and I was completely right. Swish, the ball was nothing but net, and the gym erupted with Lake fans
applauding and screaming that their team was back in the game. I zoned out, and knew that this was
my golden opportunity to shut those fans up. I took the inbound with twelve seconds left in the game,
I drove ruthlessly to the basket, crossed over through one defender, and somehow managed to put up a

The Power Of Large Media Corporations
We should have options such as having the option to choose where we get our news and information.
Understanding the world around us is significant because it gives us the power of knowledge. The
media provides us updates about events within our community and around the world. However, we are
presented with the same biased points of view from various sources. Our options are limited because
large media corporations have control over what we read, listen, and watch. These large media
corporations have taken over the media industry, control how and what information is brought to one,
and have a great political influence; therefore, one must do his or her own research and demand laws
to be implemented to decrease the power of large media ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though there several different corporations, they speak as one and form a monopoly. Large
media corporations influence how information provided to us is covered. They do whatever it takes to
get people to consider their form of media. Of all the cartel s dangerous consequences for American
society and culture, the worst is its corrosive influence on journalism (Miller 2001). In journalism, one
used to be able to ask questions and have both sides of the story; now, journalism has transitioned to
creating drama and making up fact. Once channels, radio stations, and newspapers get dominated,
they no longer cover the whole story, instead, they only cover a portion of it and emphasize certain
parts more than others. Their goal is to try to sell their form of media and get views. The cartels do not
care whether the information provided is factual or not. Lots of people liked what Fox s owner
Murdoch did, it was attracting lots of viewers because of the shouting and the scandals that would go
on Fox News; and at that time CNN went to the capital to seek advice from rightist polls to get more
viewers (Miller 2001). CNN wanted to get more views like Fox, so they also went to look for advice
on how to attract more viewers. While making the decision on how things get covered, the large media
corporations also take the time to slip in messages that will benefit

Importance of Forensic Psychology in Legal Proceedings
What and why is Forensic Psychology Important in Legal Proceedings?
Beth Velez

Justice 101 Introduction to Criminal Justice
Forensic psychology is an important part of the legal system, dating back to 1921. I plan to show in
my paper just how forensic psychologists conduct their assessments, the implications on what the
assessment and testing shows, and how it can benefit not only the defendant, but society as well.
Forensic psychologist can show if a person is faking their mental illness or truly needs further

1960, forensic psychology remained stagnant and did not become completely recognized for matters
concerning mental illness in the courts until Jenkins vs. United States in 1962 (Dye, n.d.). It was not
until 1991, that specific guidelines for forensic psychology were developed and published by the
Committee on Special Guidelines for forensic psychology (American Psychological Association,
2012). In 2001, forensic psychology became and medically accepted as a sub discipline with
psychology by the American Psychology Association ( Forensic Psychologist Psychology Jobs in

A forensic psychologist could work for the courts, police, prosecutors, defendants, prisons, or in civil
matters like child custody hearings. Forensic psychology is a recognized specialty that requires
education not only in psychology, but legal knowledge (like courtroom procedures, case law, and
mental health law). The current model of education for a forensic psychologist is earning a doctoral
degree in psychology and a post doctoral degree in either law or forensics (Franklin, 2014).

Macbeth Tragic Hero
In Shakespeare s play Macbeth, the main character goes from being a virtuous war hero at the
beginning of the story to a malevolent tyrant towards the end. This defines Macbeth as a tragic hero
throughout the play. A tragic hero is a literary character who makes a judgment error that inevitably
leads to his/her own destruction. Not only does he fit the definition of a tragic hero, but he also
exhibits many important characteristics that shape this description. These characteristics include being
an individual of high noble birth and incorporating many admirable heroic qualities. Further, tragic
heroes are doomed to make a serious error in judgement and are responsible for their own fate. As
well as this, they have a tragic flaw, leading them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In response to the first murderer telling Macbeth that Fleance had escaped the murder, Macbeth states,
The young snake that escaped will in time become poisonous and threatening (3.4.32 33). This shows
how Macbeth realized how he made an irreversible mistake as he knew that the witches predicted
Banquo s sons to eventually become king. Therefore, Fleance could be a threat to his throne. Before
this occurred, Macbeth also says, Then comes my fit again. I had else been perfect, Whole as the
marble, founded as the rock, As broad and general as the casing air. But now I am cabined, cribbed,
confined, bound in To saucy doubts and fears (3.4.23 27). This event proves how Macbeth is worried
about his throne as confidence in safety and innocence collapses. Now that Fleance has escaped as
well, Macbeth is put up with the greater threat of trying to find him again later on in order kill him.
This allows Fleance to stay safe for a while, and become a larger threat to Macbeth as he is becoming
more prepared and older for the throne if something were to happen to Macbeth. After he realizes that
he had made an irreversible mistake, Macbeth then accepts responsibility for his own fate. Upon
seeing the ghost of Banquo at his banquet, Macbeth says, You can t say I did it. Don t shake your
bloody head at me (3.4.59 60). This highlights how Macbeth is unconsciously facing and accepting
the responsibility for his own fate. Since Macbeth saw a ghost of his best friend that he killed, this
shows how guilt is definitely on his mind, and how he must be ashamed of his actions. If Macbeth
honestly didn t face and accept responsibility for his own fate, he would have disregarded the ghost
altogether and probably would have went with the assumption of having too much wine when he first
came in contact with the ghost. Towards the end of the play, Macbeth decides to leave his castle and

The Armorer s Shop By David Teniers
Conservation Study
While there were several works of art that I had liked, the artwork and album finally chosen from
Noelle Ocon s album for this particular study was The Armorer s Shop by David Teniers the Younger
and Jan Brueghel the Younger. The goals for the study of this painting were to delve into topics such
as subject matter, spectrum bands used to reveal information about the painting, and conservation
efforts in general. As such, this study will start with the subject matter and style of presentation.
The Armorer s Shop s medium and materials are oil paints applied to connected wood panels. The
artwork was painted circa 1640 1645 ( The Armorer s Shop. ), and depicts an armorer s shop as the

Interestingly, outside of The Armorer s Shop, there is virtually no evidence that Brueghel and Teniers
ever collaborated with each other (Woll.)
As seen in the visible light photographs, the painting was flaking in some areas. The key issue here,
however, is not necessarily the flaking paint. Instead, it is the fact there were also two barely
noticeable lines that were particularly noticeable from the back of the painting. At the time of these
first few pictures, The Armorer s Shop had been strictly attributed to Teniers the Younger, with no
mention of Brueghel (Huskinson).
The painting was first analyzed using visible light, which can only show some surface details through
techniques like grazing. However, a couple of other bands of the spectrum that can be used to obtain
information about the painting in question are infrared, in the form of infrared reflectography, and x
ray. These were both utilized in this case to analyze The Armorer s Shop. Infrared can be used to see
through the paint layers to the underdrawing and also to detect details in the painting that may have
changed color since being painted ( Infrared (IR) Light. ). X ray can be used to see through the entire
painting to detect its base and find possible weaknesses or damages to the painting s

Determination In Society Today
As Colin Powell put it wisely A dream doesn t become reality through magic; it takes sweat,
determination and hard work. Unfortunately though, it seems that in America countless people have
set aside the attributes of determination and hard work, and have taken up the unfortunate
characteristic of laziness and irresoluteness. In today s day and age, we have given ourselves over to a
lack of dedication and determination contrary to those who preceded us. If we do not fix this problem,

The Theme Of Death And Death In Shakespeare s Hamlet
In Hamlet, Shakespeare depicts the diffusion side of the problematic part in the life of the hero who
recoils and leads to his death. The use of death in storytelling offers many pathways to character
development and can also carry the theme of the story. Many stories can also be centered around
death. In the story of Hamlet, the story begins with the young prince depressed about the death of his
father.
Prince Hamlet was ordinary boy just like any other. He was a smart and clever young man and was
probably very kind to have many friends and a girlfriend, but after the news of his father s death, he
had changed. Hamlet soon began to shut himself in his room every night and wears nothing but dark

I loved you not. Towards the middle of his play, Hamlet sees that his uncle appears to act suspicious
and proceeds to walk out of the room. This means that what the ghost said must be true and he may
now proceed in getting his revenge. Even though the young prince believes that he is pretending, it
seems that between the death of his father and the feeling of betrayal by his loved ones has taken its
toll on Hamlet.
During a conversation with his mother, Hamlet hears a noise from the tapestry and thought it was
Claudius, so he proceeds to stabbing him, but out came Polonius, Ophelias father. Hamlet s obsession
with revenge has caused him to kill an innocent man and unavoidably leads his lover to perish. The
death of her father drives Ophelia insane and eventually she drowns causing her brother Laertes to
hate Hamlet for destroying his family and teaming up with Claudius to kill the prince. Their plan was
to have Laertes fight Hamlet in a fencing match where Laertes will fight with a sword that is coated
with poison and later Claudius will offer Hamlet a Cup filled with poison. As the match begins Laertes
cuts Hamlet, then they accidentally switch swords and then Hamlet cuts Laertes. Now both boys have
been sliced by the poisoned blade and their lives are reaching their end. As Claudius watches the
match with Gertrude, too focused on the match to be

When stories of rape, assault, or harassment come into the light, a lot of blame is placed on the victim.
People often say that she was probably dressed provocatively. Some victims respond to this by posting
pictures of what they were wearing. Most of the time, they outfit is not inappropriate, especially if
they are middle school or high school students. Another excuse is that boys will be boys.
To me, rape culture means that society accepts the fact that sexual harassment, like catcalling and
other kinds of stuff, is just a part of it, said sophomore Naomi Rosenberg. Boys can still be sexually
assaulted, but usually they are the ones not being accountable for what they do to girls. People just say
boys will be boys and are done with it.
Putting all the blame on the victim could be considered unfair. For the most part the offender
continues living, with barely any charges be pressed against them. Victims are being held accountable
for actions done to them. They did not give the other person consent, their personal space was
penetrated, and they were attacked. Victims have to live with that everyday of their life. Yet, society

Its function is to catalyse the hydrolysis of amylose and amylopectin to a mixture of products,
including maltose and dextrin, which are polysaccharides. Maltose consists of two alpha glucose
remains joined by 1,4 linkage; Dextrin is made up of several alpha glucose units joined by 1,4 and 1,6

Resistance To Change Analysis
assess during the change process, and also change direction if necessary.
Strategies
The organization must implement specific strategies to identify and resolve resistance to change. O
Connor (1993) stated In an organization, resistance is opposition or witholding of support for specific
plans or ideas. It can either be intentional or unintentional, covert or overt (p. 30). Employees will
likely consider how change affects them personally and that may naturally cause some resistance. One
of the most important things an organization can do to minimize resistance is to address these personal
concerns. It is also important to identify any potential loss or gain that comes from implementing, or
not implementing, the change initiative. Leaders ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Leaders have to give stakeholders the opportunity to properly digest information, and react to change,
especially if it affects them directly. Understanding that a disruption may occur also provides the
leaders with an opportunity to address issues and assess the need for training. Properly allocating an
honest timeframe for all stages of the change process gives the organization an opportunity to set
realistic goals. This means allowing for the training of employees that may require it to be successful
in projected goals. Treating employees fairly and setting them up to be successful is not only good for
them, but also for the productivity and possibility of success of the organization as a whole. During
the assessment phase leaders must have an honest reflection of the entire process, considering the
areas of both success and failure. Leaders must be fair in their assessment of the outcomes and be able
to take responsibility for making decisions and the effects of those decisions (Stainer, 2004).
Properly responding to ethical issues include the following: recognizing the issue, using ethical
judgment in assessment of the issue, behaving ethically, and the moral intent (Jones, 1991; Rest,
1986). The organization must be transparent in identifying the problem and actively work to correct
the issue. Because regulations and laws are in place to protect people from any ethical mistreatment,

How typical are The signalman by Charles Dickens, The monkeys paw by W.W Jacobs and The red

Gothic stories were written in the middle of the eightieth century these include Frankenstein written
by Mary Shelley and Jane Eyre written by Charlotte Bronte. Other gothic stories also include The
Signalman by Charles Dickens, The Monkeys Paw by W.W Jacobs and
The red room written by H.G wells. Gothic stories were started by
Horace Walpole who wrote The castle of otranto in 1765. Gothic stories tend to include the

Before the narrator leaves the signalman s box the signalman promises to tell the narrator what has
been troubling him. If you ever make another visit, I will tell you .
This suggests that the signalman is scared of something that he isn t sure he is ready to tell because he
is telling the narrator on his second visit.
When the narrator returns to the signalman s box a second time the signalman tells the narrator what is
troubling him he says that he ran into the tunnel because a figure shouted Halloa, below there! Look
out! when the signalmen ran into the tunnel he saw figures so he ran back out No, I ran on into the
tunnel, five hundred yards. I stopped, and held my lamp above my head, and saw the figures of the
measured distance, and saw the wet stains stealing down the walls and trickling through the arch. The
word figure suggest that the signalman doesn t think what he saw was human because otherwise
would have used the word man. This gives a effect of mystery because the reader doesn t know what
the signalman saw. The word trickling suggests that the tunnel is wet, damp and eerie. This is typical
of the gothic genre because the fact that it is wet suggests that it has been bad weather and stormy. The
signalman then explains to the narrator how dead people were brought over where he had seen the
figure. within six hours after the appearance the memorable accident on this line

Analysis Of The Poem The Oysters By Tobias Wolff
There are two short stories with different settings. Oysters, written by Anton Chekhov, takes a place in
the nineteenth century Moscow. It begins with a flashback, which the author recalls on the day that he
and his father try to beg for alms in order to satisfy their hunger, which happens when he is a child.
While his father hesitates to ask people for alms, he sees a word oysters on a placard. Since he does
not know what oysters look like, he asks his father what oysters are and imagines a delicious fish
soup, however, when his father tells what oysters really look like, he starts to feel disgusted. When he
is crying for oysters, two gentlemen drag him to the restaurant to let him eat oysters. In the end, he
gets to eat oysters, but it does not make him satisfied, in fact, it makes him sick.
On the other hand, Powder, written by Tobias Wolff, takes a place in the modern state of Washington.
The author begins with the story by telling that the father and his son go to Mount Baker for skiing.
The father has a difficult relationship with his wife that they are about to break up. When he and his
son decide to go home, they are unable to do so because the road is closed due to snow. Since the
father wants to go home as quick as possible, he tries to call state troopers to move away, which is
breaking law. Oysters and Powder seems to have few relationships with each other because of the
different settings. However, they contain some important similarities and

Hamilton learnt the basics of English whilst attending school (completed Grade 8). Due to the fact that
isiZulu is spoken more widely in KZN, South Africa than Sesotho, it was not as necessary / important
for Hamilton to learn how to communicate in Sesotho, as much as it was for Sparak and Simphiwe to
learn how to communicate in isiZulu. Why are they acting / behaving in certain ways? During their
lunch break on day two, I noticed that Sparak and Simphiwe each had a brightly coloured blanket
which they wrapped around their shoulders. They sat down, flat on the grass, and ate their lunch
(consisting of spinach, potato and pap , which is a stiff, mealie meal), using their fingers to scoop their
food into their mouths. No other eating utensils were used. Simphiwe, the younger of the two Sotho s,
treated the older Sparak, with much respect. This was evident when I observed that he waited for
Sparak to sit down first, he handed Sparak his lunch, and he fetched water for Sparak to drink.
Hamilton joined Sparak and Simphiwe for lunch. However, he sat on a low wooden bench and he didn
t have a bright blanket wrapped around his shoulders. The lunch that Hamilton was eating was samp
and beans. (Traditional Zulu meal). Hamilton ate his lunch with a spoon. He did not eat with his hands
at all. The three men very willingly offered and shared their lunch with each other. I read up on the
manner in which the three men behaved and I learnt the following: It is part of

fighting in the streets and became involved in an organization that helped him maintain self
preservation. At first, Friendly appears powerful and commands respect but throughout the film, he

False Memory Research Paper
In class last week DRM Deese, Roediger, and McDermott s false memory demonstration was
discussed. I ve read and experienced false memories before, but I wanted to know what other factors
could contribute to this. In class, false memory was brought upon by spreading activation. Some of us
felt strongly that sleep belonged with the other words that were closely related to sleep, such as bed,
alarm, etc. It s amazing how we are confident that a false memory that we thought, but did not see, is
perceived to be an original memory. I remember coming across an article about how our childhood
memories, for the most part, were false. They either resulted from seeing a childhood picture, or from
information that we are exposed to throughout life, such

I Am A Leader Of The New Iphone
I am a colossally faithful Apple brand shopper. I got the iPod Nano around a week after it turned out,
the iPhone 3G the day it turned out, and now am a pleased owner of the new iPhone 6S . Allowed I
don t have a Mac or an iPad, regardless I surrender that the majority of Apple s items are mechanically
and tastefully better than the greater part of its adversaries (yes, even to the cherished Wake Forest
version ThinkPad). The traditional consumer decision process starts with problem recognition. I would
say, I totally skirted this underlying stage. Since I was taking after web journals and declarations about
the arrival of the most up to date era iPhone since last year like it was my employment, I realized that
the iPhone would have been released on September 25th I likewise realized that you would have the
capacity to preorder it on September 12. Thus at 8am on September 12, I preordered the fresh out of
the plastic new iPhone 6S for $700 in addition to some expense, and hence started the expectation
until get day on October started. So glancing back at my purchase, I never truly encountered a minute
when I understood that I had an issue which should have been tended to or a trigger that made me
need the phone. I as of now had a phone (a working Samsung as a substitution for my dead iPhone
5s), I basically recently concluded that I needed the freshest and best innovation out there which the
iPhone advertised.

Staphylococcus aureas versus Methicillin Resistant...
From Staphylococcus aureus to MRSA
Abstract
I investigated the difference between Staphylococcus aureas and its super bacteria form of Methicillin
resistant Staphylococcus aureas. I used books, websites, and scholarly projects to understand the topic
at a molecular level. After researching penicillin, Staphylococcus aureas, and Methicillin resistant
Staphylococcus aureas, I found that both the drug and the bacteria use enzymes as their defense and
attack mechanism. Penicillin uses a ß lactam ring as a substrate to clog the active site of
transpeptidase, and in defense, the bacteria uses ß lactamase to break down the ß lactam ring. I hope to
continue research on super bacteria to determine whether or not other super bacteria ... Show more

B lactam Antibiotics and Bacteria
To understand how MRSA works against antibiotics, we must first look at the cell wall and how
antibiotics work. The cell wall is designed to maintain the cell s shape and to keep the inner workings
of the bacteria safe. Without a cell wall, the bacteria could not survive. The wall of a bacterial cell can
fit into two major categories: gram positive and gram negative. Staphylococcus aureas is a common
example of a gram positive bacteria. Gram positive bacteria is made up of polymer layers of
peptidoglycan connected by amino acid bridges. Peptidoglycan is a polymer made of
Nacetylglucosamine and N acetyl muraminic acid, or for the purpose of convenience,
NAG and NAMA. [6] These layers of polymers are cross linked with amino acids as shown in the
diagram below. The polymers are connected and layered by an enzyme known as transpeptidase. The
enzyme is responsible for catalyzing the reaction that cross links the cell wall to make it strong.[1]
Making the cell wall is easily one of the most basic and essential processes that takes place.
[6]
Penicillin and Methicillin, two antibiotics used to treat Staphylococcus aureas, are known as ß lactam
antibiotics. They prevent the bacteria from forming a cell wall.[1] The
NAM of the peptidoglycan leaves residue of D alanyl D alanine which bind to the transpeptidase in
order to cross link the chain. ß lactam antibiotics

Distorted Perceptions in F. Scott Fitzgerald s Tender is the Night
Any visitor to the French Riviera in the mid 1920s, the setting of F. Scott Fitzgerald s Tender is the
Night, would describe Dr. Richard Diver as a charming, respected, well mannered physician. Dick is a
noble man who has dedicated his life to the health and protection of his beloved wife without thought
to himself. Furthermore, he gives wonderful parties and is a reliable source of help to any friend in
need. In fact, to be included in Dick Diver s world for a while was a remarkable experience
(Fitzgerald, Tender, 27).
Under this façade of composure, however, lies a tormented personality. The stresses in Dick s life are
numerous, as he deals with Nicole s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later, while on the shore with his family, Dick decides to attempt a foolish trick involving a speed
boat, inspired by the closeness of Rosemary s exciting youth (282). This desperately insecure need for
external validation is characteristic of a prepubescent level of maturity which Dick surely should have
overcome long ago.
As his descent continues, Dick is even less convincingly able to act like the mature professional. He
gets drunk more frequently and is involved in a violent fight with some taxi drivers, and later he
inadvertently insults Mary North s in laws, showing he has lost some of his previously impeccable
manners. Even his mentally ill wife can see the results of his behavior, telling him, You re a coward!
You ve made a failure of your life and you want to blame it on me (301). Dick has seemingly given up
on acting like a grown up and all of its difficulties in favor of a more immature, morally ignorant
lifestyle.
Not only does Dick Diver s longing for youthful innocence show in his own youthful behavior, but
also in his attraction to much younger women, both paternally and sensually. His relationships with
Rosemary, his children, Nicole, and others reflect almost incestuous motives, a result of Dick s
fascination with immaturity (Stanton, 118). Starting with relatively unimportant evidence, it is
reported that after the divorce, Dick moved to upstate New York and

Archetypal Theory In Pygmalion
Ever since we were little children we have been able to see the world around us. We noticed that there
are colors and images but we never truly knew what they meant. Then, we were brought into school
where we were then taught what color is what color and how there are two types of colors: light and
dark. We were taught that the light colors usually mean happiness while the darker colors represent
sadness. Colors and images are how the idea of Archetypal Theory came to be, helping us discover a
deeper meaning within the text. After watching the movies My Fair Lady, Princess and The Frog, and
reading the book Pygmalion, I was able to discover how colors and images help us better understand
the character s journeys from rags to riches. At the beginning of all three of these stories the characters
start out as some nobodies, but then through the archetypal theory thrown into these pieces so we see
how they transform into becoming happy and wealthy people near the end of the stories. At the
beginning of all three of these stories, colors help us understand who the characters really are. For all
of these pieces we are able to see how dirty and poor both Eliza and Tiana are starting off as. In
Pygmalion, Eliza is described as having a brown skirt with a coarse apron. Her boots are much the
worse for wear. She is no doubt as clean as she can afford to be (Shaw 1. 13). If we dig deeper into the
meaning of this quotation we can see what these colors truly mean. George Bernard

Comparing The Barbie Doll And The Chimney Sweeper
At first glance, the poems The Chimney Sweeper by William Blake, and Barbie Doll, by Marge Piercy
appear to have no tangible similarities. However, upon further analysis and interpretation, they are
somewhat akin. Particularly, the harsh treatment of the children, their self image, and the use of
imagery in the poems are comparable. Some of the differences between the two poems include the
time period in which they were written, the upbringing of the characters, and also the characters
reactions and solutions to the problems that they faced. Although the setting and characters of the
poems Barbie Doll and The Chimney Sweeper are easy to contrast, the deeper meanings of the two are
tantamount. One of the chief reasons that these poems ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, it is vital to show the differences between the childhoods of the characters from The Chimney
Sweeper and Barbie Doll. The child from the Barbie Doll has a cookie cutter childhood. The girl was
born as usual / and presented dolls that did pee pee / and miniature GE stoves and irons / and wee
lipsticks the color of cherry candy (Piercy 1 4). Her background, unfortunately, did not protect her
against all of the dangers in the world. However, it could be assumed that if she did not have such a
fortunate childhood, she might have appreciated everything she had, instead of looking on the bad side
of things. On the other end, the boy from The Chimney Sweeper had a traumatic childhood. The only
thing the child can remember is that when [his] mother died [he] was very young, / and [that his]
father sold him while yet [his] tongue / could scarcely cry (Blake 1 3). This boy s difficult childhood
has a tremendous impact on his outlook on life, as he grows up to appreciate the things he has, and
have a positive outlook on life. These children s upbringing affects their overall attitude towards
themselves, and their lives, and therefore impacts their lives

  • 3. My Biggest Contribution For The Uconn Community Will Be My... My biggest contribution to the UConn community will be my fearlessness. I m not afraid of being proved wrong, I m not afraid of failing, and I m never afraid of proving myself. When I m working at robotics I don t tell people to solve problems creatively, I actively engage in their discussion and love playing the devil s advocate. For example, this year when we were brainstorming the best drive train systems to use for a design challenge they all wanted to do a basic 3x3 system and simply use six CIMotors instead of the standard four. So, I challenged them. I presented 6 valuable reasons why mecanum wheels with 4 CIMotors would work way better and then challenged them to tell me why I m wrong. They couldn t, but mecanum wheels are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But my admittedly disappointing fitness level means that I get a lot of sass from the freshmen and sophomores I m trying to teach. They challenge my knowledge base and ability to teach them skills I ve mastered because of my unrelated fitness level. But every day I go back and I challenge their beliefs; I get on my rollerskis and show them how my balance, technique, and form are not at all related to my 5k times. I m not afraid of their judgement or scorn and instead to go and I actively show through my actions that I m not afraid to prove myself to them. I know what I can and cannot and that s all I need to confidently advise and correct them while they learn. I m not afraid to teach a doubting mind and I m not afraid of being challenged where I work. I m fearless, and that s something every community needs. blech Three experiences in my life truly defined my goal of going into medicine; my injuries, research experiences, and shadowing experience. My personal injuries over the course of my life really ignited my interest in medicine. The truth is, I m an incredibly accomplished bone breaker. I put these through quite a test, too! See the photos I attached below to follow along with my testing. Obviously, the majority of the time I will use these laundry bags for my most delicate and intimate washables, but I wanted to test how these bags from Inside Smarts really held up, so I filled them with kitchen dish towels. I decided to use dish towels in my testing because they are definitely heavier than most of the types of items I will wash in the bags, but just in case I ever wanted to wash a sweater I figured the dish towels would also give me somewhat of an idea of that experience, too. ... • 5. Sports And Sports Essay Have you ever thought of how the media portrays sports to the general public?Well the media talks about sports a good amount of times, showing that they have an interest talking about the overall topics of sports. Sports is arguably one of the most entertaining and hyped up activities in the whole world for it creates action packed thrills, sad moments, and insane tricks that provides quality entertainment and fun times with friends and family. If there was 2 people feeling lonely and bored in their house with absolutely nothing to do and are willing to do something proactive with friends and family, sports would be something amazing to do instead of being inactive and lousy.Media portrayed sports as a fun and entertaining activity to watch and make conversation about. This in fact is true because sports creates drama and intensity to the people who watch it, helps provide something to look forward to in the near future, and brings friends and family together. Media shows us that Sports is generally one of the most entertaining things to watch in the world for the fact that it creates intensity and drama for the people who are gonna watch a game or to the viewers watching the game. It is this itinerant lifestyle that equipped this group with a vast knowledge of survival skills and enabled their endurance in harsh desert environments for centuries. Through the harvest of water and trade of goods and services in exchange for food, water and currency, they were able to migrate across Europe and ultimately to unite under a single cultural identity in the seventh century. George Levine from The Ambiguous Heritage of Frankenstein and Benjamin Truitt from Frankenstein Critical Analysis and Literary Criticism both share their opinions about Shelley s piece of written work. • 9. Analysis Of Night By Elie Wiesel And First They Killed My... When a person recalls an emotional situation, it can be difficult for them to explain to others exactly how they felt when the event occurred. Authors attempt to communicate these tough experiences using a variety of literary devices which include symbolism, irony, and theme. Night by Elie Wiesel, and First They Killed My Father by Loung Ung are two pieces of literature that recollect the memories of the authors during traumatic events; Night is set during the Holocaust, while the latter is set in Cambodia during the harsh rule of Pol Pot. The literary devices present in each text are utilized by Wiesel and Ung in unique and similar ways to communicate the extent of what they felt . Both novels utilized symbols in order to relay importance to the readers, particularly during the times when the speakers viewed something horrific. In First They Killed My Father, Ung attempts to symbolize Pol Pot, her father, and even the clothing of the Khmer Rouge. She almost describes Pol Pot as being a supernatural all seeing eye type figure one she became set on trying to kill later on in the future as vengeance. Her father represented the glue and power that held Loung s family together once he had died, his children (Loung s brothers) had continued to try and fill in his shoes by providing food, while Loung had continued to be inspired by him. The clothing of the Khmer Rouge became a symbol of the regime, along with all the horror it had created. Indeed, Loung noticed that she could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Therefore, the club was endangered of being disbanded unless there was an improvement in client satisfaction. To improve client satisfaction and OCI reputation, the leaders of OCI analyzed issues within the club and proposed initiatives to turn the club in the right direction of productivity. During the process of analyzing issues within the club it was observed that the rate of predicting the sizeable case load varied due to available resources of the club along with clients expectations which resulted in the disconnect between the two. • 14. Leisure And Leisure Time Vs. Leisure Time We do not only gain utility from our consumption. We also gain utility from leisure. Leisure time is the time you spend outside of work. In the similar way of maximizing utility from our purchases, we decide the number of hours of work that will yield us the highest utility, in other words, that makes us the happiest. People make money by giving up some leisure time. The more leisure hours you sacrifice to go to work, the more income you earn. Leisure time or activities are contrasted, implicitly or directly, with worktime or productive activities. (Moore and Hedges, 1971) Leisure time could be used for vacation, resting, playing golf or other activities that we enjoy doing. Thus, economists see leisure as a normal good that provides us with satisfaction. On the other hand, income generates purchasing power so we can purchase goods and services we desire. In other words, income gives us satisfaction in an indirect way. As both income and leisure yield utility, everyone has their own indifference curve between income and leisure, depending on personal preferences. An indifference curve is constituted by a set of combinations of income and leisure hours that yield the same level of utility. Indifference curves are downward sloping and convex to the origin. They are parallel to each other they do not intersect. The distance between an indifference curve and the origin indicates the utility level of the individual, as it gets longer, the satisfaction of the individual becomes ... Coleridge does this by implementing vivid imagery into his poem to create a tale that we the readers can easily follow such as the tales we tell one another today to learn or understand different concepts in modern day life. The concept of sin and atonement are the allegories that we learn about in The Rime of the Ancient Mariner; we learn that with sin comes the reprimand of a supernatural figure; however the prejudice one faces helps lead to the forgiveness the Mariner learns to find within himself. • 17. Change Of The Century By Ornette Coleman Analysis In the scope of the jazz community, Ornette Coleman is one of the most prominent representatives of free jazz. Coleman is known for his free jazz compositions as well as his saxophone performances. Throughout his piece, Change of the Century , one can hear the saxophonist and trumpeter playing trills and scale patterns. The sounds are abrupt and are played on random beats of the measure. To give some historical context, when Coleman s album, Change of the Century, was released in 1960, Martin Luther King Jr. and other activists were staging sit ins in Southern restaurants. With the political climate of the 1960s in perspective, to the educated listener, the bursts of sound in Change of the Century now seem indignant. It is not hard to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the instruments of free jazz are the same, the standard jazz composition patterns are not. According to German musicologist Ekkehard Jost, the only rule of free jazz is the negation of traditional norms (Jost 9). While other styles like bebop or swing have set measures or keys, free jazz does not have the same constraints. There are no fixed rhythms, melodies, and harmonies; if Coleman started a song in the key of Bb, there was no say in what key he would end with. Coleman s free jazz songs also have another recurring component: harmolodics. In an interview with Wire magazine, Coleman defines harmolodics as an element where all ideas all relationships and harmony are equally in unison ( Interview with Ornette Coleman ). Upon reading this vague definition, the real meaning of harmolodics escapes both myself and many other jazz scholars. Nevertheless, these improvised sections between instruments are present in many of Coleman s songs. The term free jazz was first coined from Coleman s album titled Free Jazz: A Collective Improvisation. The album starts off with all of the woodwinds and brass and continues with improvised solos from the clarinet, trumpet, saxophone, bass, and drums. Coleman uses the twelve bar blues form and experiments with harmonic improvisation between the musicians. Reviews for Coleman s album were conflicting; Pete Welding, record producer, gave the recordings five stars, citing it is by all odds ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, in all these states, they were still able to cast a regular ballot if they did not have the requested ID under some provisions (National Conference of State Legislature). • 19. Secondhand Smoke Is Unhealthy For Everyone, Especially For... Secondhand smoke is unhealthy for everyone, especially for young children. Children are more susceptible to suffer the detrimental health effects of secondhand smoke because they breathe in more air than adults due to their size and weight. In addition, children are constantly growing and developing. During their development stage, children are more sensitive to the consequences of secondhand smoke, which is ultimately dangerous to their immune and respiratory systems. Furthermore, secondhand smoke is significantly harmful to children with asthma, which is a chronic health condition whose symptoms include coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath. Children, both with and without asthma, are powerless to protect themselves from the dangers of secondhand smoke, so we the adults have to protect them. Secondhand smoke, also referred to as environmental tobacco smoke, primarily comes from cigars and cigarettes The effects of breathing in secondhand smoke is equivalent to smoking a cigarette. In addition, the chemicals released by cigarettes and cigars contain many poisons, such as benzene, butane, ammonia, toluene, and hydrogen cyanide (American Lung Association). These poisons from secondhand smoking are prevalent in children s surroundings, causing them to breathe these toxins in homes, day cares, and cars. Polygamy continues to be frowned upon greatly in the United States despite the recent steps toward legalizing different marriage arrangements and polygamy s attempt to go mainstream with television shows that give the outside world an inside view of their lifestyle. In Tibet, however, polyandry (a form of polygamy) has been a part of the culture for as long as anyone can remember and does not seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. In the article, When Brothers Share a Wife by Melvyn C. Goldstein, polyandry is explored in all aspects, including age, dynamics, and purpose. The author begins by setting the stage with a single case where a man, Dorje, is set to marry a woman who will also be marrying his two brothers, Pema and Sonam. This one case example is used throughout the article to support various points on the subject. Goldstein moves right into defining fraternal polyandry as a marriage of two or more brothers marrying one woman who then moves into the family home. Like other cultures, this marriage is typically arranged with the persons who are marrying having little to no say in the decision. The actual marriage ceremony differs depending on income and location factors. Goldstein then flows into the dynamics of authority and familial relations, as these are one of the first topics people speculate about. It is shared that the oldest brother is typically the dominant brother but everything from work to the wife is shared equally in all ways. The question of how the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Similarities Between Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde Man or Monster: Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Degeneracy was not just confined to the lower classes, criminals, and other dregs of society, but applicable to the upper class as well. Jekyll was a well renowned doctor, but he still grew impatient of having to be morally upright all the time. He seeks to rid himself of these burdens by releasing his Other self. According to Jekyll s narration, both he and Hyde existed before the discovery of the salt that enabled them to become seperate: I learned to recognise the thorough and primitive duality of man; I saw that, of the two natures that contended in the field of my consciousness, even if I could rightly be said to be either, it was only because I was radically both (Stephenson 49). Man is not truly one, but truly two, Jekyll relates, appearing to support the theory suggesting that each brain hemisphere might house a separate personality, indeed, a separate soul (Stevenson 48). The dual hemisphere theory states that the left side of the brain is the rational side while the right side can be described as the instinctual, chaotic side. Strategies The organization must implement specific strategies to identify and resolve resistance to change. O Connor (1993) stated In an organization, resistance is opposition or witholding of support for specific plans or ideas. It can either be intentional or unintentional, covert or overt (p. 30). Employees will likely consider how change affects them personally and that may naturally cause some resistance. From Staphylococcus aureus to MRSA Abstract I investigated the difference between Staphylococcus aureas and its super bacteria form of Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureas. I used books, websites, and scholarly projects to understand the topic at a molecular level. After researching penicillin, Staphylococcus aureas, and Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureas, I found that both the drug and the bacteria use enzymes as their defense and attack mechanism. Penicillin uses a ß lactam ring as a substrate to clog the active site of transpeptidase, and in defense, the bacteria uses ß lactamase to break down the ß lactam ring. B lactam Antibiotics and Bacteria To understand how MRSA works against antibiotics, we must first look at the cell wall and how antibiotics work. The cell wall is designed to maintain the cell s shape and to keep the inner workings of the bacteria safe. Without a cell wall, the bacteria could not survive. The wall of a bacterial cell can fit into two major categories: gram positive and gram negative. Staphylococcus aureas is a common example of a gram positive bacteria. Gram positive bacteria is made up of polymer layers of peptidoglycan connected by amino acid bridges. Peptidoglycan is a polymer made of Nacetylglucosamine and N acetyl muraminic acid, or for the purpose of convenience, NAG and NAMA. [6] These layers of polymers are cross linked with amino acids as shown in the diagram below. The polymers are connected and layered by an enzyme known as transpeptidase. The enzyme is responsible for catalyzing the reaction that cross links the cell wall to make it strong.[1] Making the cell wall is easily one of the most basic and essential processes that takes place. [6] Penicillin and Methicillin, two antibiotics used to treat Staphylococcus aureas, are known as ß lactam antibiotics. They prevent the bacteria from forming a cell wall.[1] The NAM of the peptidoglycan leaves residue of D alanyl D alanine which bind to the transpeptidase in order to cross link the chain. ß lactam antibiotics ... Later, while on the shore with his family, Dick decides to attempt a foolish trick involving a speed boat, inspired by the closeness of Rosemary s exciting youth (282). This desperately insecure need for external validation is characteristic of a prepubescent level of maturity which Dick surely should have overcome long ago. As his descent continues, Dick is even less convincingly able to act like the mature professional. He gets drunk more frequently and is involved in a violent fight with some taxi drivers, and later he inadvertently insults Mary North s in laws, showing he has lost some of his previously impeccable manners. • 53. Archetypal Theory In Pygmalion Ever since we were little children we have been able to see the world around us. We noticed that there are colors and images but we never truly knew what they meant. Then, we were brought into school where we were then taught what color is what color and how there are two types of colors: light and dark. We were taught that the light colors usually mean happiness while the darker colors represent sadness. Colors and images are how the idea of Archetypal Theory came to be, helping us discover a deeper meaning within the text. After watching the movies My Fair Lady, Princess and The Frog, and reading the book Pygmalion, I was able to discover how colors and images help us better understand the character s journeys from rags to riches. At the beginning of all three of these stories the characters start out as some nobodies, but then through the archetypal theory thrown into these pieces so we see how they transform into becoming happy and wealthy people near the end of the stories. At the beginning of all three of these stories, colors help us understand who the characters really are. For all of these pieces we are able to see how dirty and poor both Eliza and Tiana are starting off as. In Pygmalion, Eliza is described as having a brown skirt with a coarse apron. Her boots are much the worse for wear. She is no doubt as clean as she can afford to be (Shaw 1. 13). If we dig deeper into the meaning of this quotation we can see what these colors truly mean.
