An Efficient Implementation Of Finite Impulse Response...
Abstract
With improvements in capacity and performance and a decrease in cost, FPGAs have become a viable
solution for making custom chips and programmable DSP devices. This paper presents an efficient
implementation of Finite Impulse Response Filter (FIR) using Distributed Arithmetic (DA)
architecture based on FPGA with the help of xilinx system generator software. Here, the multipliers in
FIR filter are replaced with multiplierless DA based technique to remove high frequency
Electrocardiogram(EMG) noise from ECG signal. As digital filters plays very significant role in the
analysis of the low frequency components in Electrocardiogram (ECG) signal. The ECG is susceptible
to noise and it is essential to remove the noise in order to support any decision making for specialist
and automatic heart disorder diagnosis systems. We purposed that the signals under experiment has
been added with muscle noise and after applying different FIR method, the signals according to signal
noise ratio (SNR) and MSE(mean square error) are evaluated. It introduces an effective technique for
the denoising of ECG signals corrupted by High frequency muscles contraction noise. The
performances of the system were evaluated using the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
University and Beth Israel Hospital (MIT BIH) database. Muscle noise is taken from MIT BIH noise
stress database .Simulation results shows that High frequency EMG noise from ECG was removed
effectively by using FIR low pass filter.

Confucianism And Legalism
The law in which the Qin constructed was harsh and unjust. They abolished the Zhou ist feudal
system, replacing it with controlled local administration. The term in which this practice is called is
Legalism; the belief in which people are born with evil tendencies. The government demanded total
subordination of the people to the ruler. Although there is no commonly recognized founder, there is
one person who is credited for the establishment of Legalism: Shang Yang, an important statesman
during the Warring States Period for the Qin. The policies and measures initiated by Shang Yang were
all designed to strengthen the state at the expense of the common people and the nobility, to subjugate
the society under state domination. Through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This system was to keep everyone in their place and avoid rebellions and uprisings. There were
reports of subordination put into place once every three months, summaries every six, and permanent
records every twelve. There was a doctrine fixed into law, called the Six Parasites. This is however a
textual problem, there are actually sixteen. These parasites were rites, music, odes, history, cultivation,
goodness, filial devotion, brotherly love, sincerity, trustworthiness, uprightness, integrity, humaneness,
rightness, criticism of army, and lastly being ashamed of fighting. To violate any of these laws against
the six was subject to punishment. Death to any criminals and any officials who allowed crimes, their
punishments were carried out to their families and three generations after. When punishments are
imposed, they shall not be applied to the guilty party alone. Punishments were severe. Small crimes
were punished severly to make sure the punishment was understood and not repeated, especially if it
were a larger crime. When Shang Yang wrote, ...if they let their ambition go too far, they will become
too strong... it is interpreted that knowledge and aspiration for a better life can be power and lead to
rebellion against the government. More consequential victims were the critical thinking of Legalists
and the spirit of ruling by law, blamed for Qin s demise and condemned for two millennia by
Confucians advocating the rule by men

The Conquest Of New Spain Summary
Any student of history has come to recognize the fact that history is written by the victor and in lieu of
this, research becomes essential to uncover where the truth lies. The True History of the Conquest of
New Spain, so ironically named, is a personal account for historical events leading up to the conquest
of New Spain, formerly known as the City of Mexico. The author, Bernal Diaz, was a soldier of the
conquering army who composed the document well after the events took place sometime between
1552 and 1557. Though the document did provide insight in regards to the victor s perspective, it also
served as a tool to rewrite the account of the conquered people. From what we know, the author
Bernal Diaz Del Castillo, commonly referred to as Bernal Diaz, was a soldier of fortune. Coming from
a moderately poor background he embarked on several expeditions under the lead of multiple captains
to the new world hoping to make a prosperous living from the precious metals he ... Show more

This section highlights that history has created a false narrative depicting the natives as a victimized
people, which they were to some extent but only in the fashion that they did not possess the same
technology for warfare, immunity of communal diseases transmitted, and they were not anticipating
combat. All other factors considered, the natives stood to be a potential threat. In regards to knowledge
obtained by Spaniards prior to arrival and knowledge gained from observation, it would be remiss had
they not prepared for battle. This argument is not to be misconstrued in approving their actions; I do
recognize colonization as an evil for both the reasons employed and its damaging effects, but rather to
change the narrative surrounding that of the native people. While they did experience a tragedy, I feel
that it is erroneous to write them into history as being incompetent resulting from their

Studying Real Time Application On College Student For...
In this paper, we are going to develop real time application on college student for automatic detection
and recognition of student during academics, followed by display of personal information of students.
This application makes proper use of CCTV camera for real time face detection of students of
particular college. The proposed application can be divided into four major steps. In first step, each
person in the image is detected. In the second step, a face detection algorithm detects faces of each
person. In third step, we use a face recognition algorithm to match the faces of persons in the captured
image with the database of students faces which also stores personal as well as academic information
of each student. In final step, the face of student along with his/her personnel information will be
displayed on screen to the user when the image captured by CCTV camera contains any student image
of present college. The college administrator as well as faculty members can use this application to
identify students and also to distinguish students from outsiders.
Keywords Real time face detection, face recognition, denoising
I. INTRODUCTION
Now a days identification of students in college campus is very necessary to identify outsiders from

Melia In The Ruined Maid
Throughout the poem, The Ruined Maid , Melia who represents the ruined maid literally shows us a
different version of what it means to be ruined. A former country maiden, now turned into an
illustrious town girl, Melia, happens to meet with an old friend of hers who is from the country like
her. Being a country girl, she is filled with admiration and envy upon seeing Melia as though she was
seeing her in a new light. When Melia is asked by her friend as to how she became so prosperous,
Melia in turn asks her if she hadn t known that Melia had been ruined. Melia s friend then points out
various instances of the life that Melia had lived through as a country girl. If we were to put ourselves
in the place of Melia s friend and compare our lives with Melia s, we might just appear to be finding
ourselves more ruined than Melia : You left us in tatters, without shoes or socks (line 5 ) . ... Show

When asked about the changes in manner of her speech from an ordinary country style talk to talking
in words that seem suited mostly for those of high class status, Melia replied : Some polish is gained
with one s ruin, (line 12). This shows that even though Melia previously didn t have that jest and
mannerism of speaking, she eventually acquires this high taste. Melia s physical transformation also
astonishes her friend since Melia s hands had changed from being country or farm hands to those like
a lady as well as a beautiful change in Melia s facial complexion. Melia indicates that another
advantage of being ruined is not having to do any work like her friend. Melia also seems to be more
lively than as though she had never experienced sadness in her life : True. One s pretty lively when

The Unique History Of The Negro Baseball Leagues
In this essay we will take a look at the unique history of the Negro Baseball Leagues. We will discuss
how they were an integral part of the African American culture and what they meant to their
communities. We will also discuss some of the more famous players of the Negro Leagues as well as
take a look at what the impact of Jackie Robinson being the first African American to be signed to a
professional Major League team was and how it affected the future of baseball.
Black American men were banned from being able to play professional baseball from the early 1900 s
till the late 1940 s. This sparked the creation of what was known as the Negro Leagues. The first
successful Negro League was formed in 1920 by Andrew Rube Foster (https://
negroleaguebaseball.com), but suspended operations in 1931 due to the financial hardships associated
with the Great Depression (Baseball: An Illustrated History, G. Ward, Page 87). As the Great
Depression ended and America got closer to WWII, the popularity of the Negro leagues grew. The
creation of the Negro National League and the Negro American League represented the two premier
Negro leagues in the 1930 s and 1940 s. They were just as organized as their white counterparts. They
played a 140 game schedule, had their own all star games, as well as their own World Series
(Baseball: An Illustrated History, G. Ward, Page 247). The Negro leagues flourished during WWII.
The white players of the professional teams were being drafted and their

School Uniforms Are Inefficient And Unnecessary Summary
In the article , School Uniforms Are Inefficient and Unnecessary, by the American Civil Liberties
Union (ACLU) OF Nevada, the ACLU of Nevada successfully builds an argument in opposition to
institution of uniforms in school by alluding to historical precedents, appealing to patriotism, and
using ethos to foster a sense of solidarity. The ACLU of Nevada wastes no time in starting its
argument as evident in its historical reference during the introductory paragraph. The ACLU of
Nevada argues that the First Amendment, the right to freedom of speech, is granted to every American
citizen and that, students do not shed their constitutional rights at the schoolhouse gate, an opinion
from the free speech case during the Vietnam war. Additionally, the ACLU of Nevada mentions that as
a result of the case involving the students expressing their free speech rights during the Vietnam war
the, Court set out a framework for dealing with student s free speech rights in school:that students

To make this appeal really affect the reader, ACLU refers to the Constitution, arguably the most
honored American document, and attaches it to the fact that the identity of American is ingrained in
the Constitution, a highly valued standard, and for us to violate it, in the case of a legal minor is not an
American thing to do and may in itself an un American value in our youth. Through this emotional
argument the ACLU of Nevada conveys to its audience that the installment of uniforms in our
educational institutions id not only wrong, but that it goes against the American identity. As a result
when the reader reads this portion, they will not only be against uniforms because they violate the law,
but they will also feel a sense of guilt that arises from the fact they are inferring the American identity

Essay On Vietnamese Cuisine
What is Vietnamese Cuisine: Origin and Evolution If a Vietnamese cook is asked where his cuisine
originated from, he might, reply, from his ancestors. The cuisine has evolved by the contribution of
various rulers, invaders and indigenous peoples each one adding their own nuances to create a
deliciously simple cuisine. The Chinese made the first dramatic impact on its cuisine, teaching them
Buddhism with its inherent vegetarian beliefs and the art of chopsticks, use of noodles, stir frying in
oil, tofu, soy sauce and cultivation of rice. India introduced Vietnam to spices. The Mongol tribesmen
brought with them their love of beef, which resulted in the creation of Vietnamese soup, Pho.
Explorers from Spain brought foods from the New World, including chillies and potatoes. Later, the
French passed on their techniques of sautéing and simmering for stock making, and introduced onion,
coffee, beer, ice cream and baguettes. From Thailand they took basil, lemon grass and shrimp paste
and combined them with Indian spices. Cambodia introduced Vietnam to coconut milk. With such
diverse inspiration, the resulting dishes are wholly unique. (Basan, VIETNAMESE fragrant and exotic

Septic Shock
Introduction
Severe sepsis and septic shock represents a significant healthcare problem among hospitalized
patients. It is a major cause of mortality especially among older patients and patients with multiple
pathologies, many of whom are admitted through emergency departments (EDs) (Coen et al., 2014).
The research suggests that while not all patients with septic shock is admitted through the ED, the care
received by patients in the ED may significantly impact their prognosis (Coen e.t al., 2014). EGDT
has been incorporated into EDs to treat patients with severe sepsis or septic shock in the form of

authors conclude that initiating CRRT early may be beneficial to improving mortality rate among
patients with severe sepsis or septic shock, but indicate that more clinical trials are needed to
accurately determine whether early CCRT is more efficacious than late CRRT in the treatment of

The Hobbit Themes
The Hobbit is a fantasy novel written by English author J. R. R. Tolkien and it was published on 21
September 1937. The novel is about quest and adventures of Bilbo Baggins through to the Lonely
Mountain. The book still remains popular in children s literature. The story is told in a heroic way and
basically is about Bilbo gaining new level of maturity, wisdom and losing his innocence. Themes are
pretty much personal growth, heroism and war. Tolkien had four children and he used to write stories
for his kids to enjoy. Then he collected these stories and created whole new world in the literature.
In order to understand plot and what s going in that universe, I will give brief information about
characters first. Bilbo Baggins is our protagonist and by far the most important character of the novel.
The plot is shaped around his actions and feelings. He is a hobbit. Hobbits are small people, even
smaller than dwarfs. They live in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Flagstaff Arizona Mental Health Assignment
Introduction I thought a lot about this assignment. It was important, to me, that I gathered information
that would be applicable for the clients I will serve as a social worker. Here in Flagstaff Arizona, we
are fortunate to live in a community which celebrates cultural diversity. Flagstaff is home to a large
Latino, Diné and Hopi population. I wanted to critique a mental health assessment that I felt would be
culturally sensitive, appropriate and address the needs of these populations. Having said that, I
analyzed this intake form in terms of its usability for a variety of different cultures and populations. I
also aimed to assess the intake form in relation to sexual orientation and issues around gender identity.
The hope being that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I do not think there is always sufficient space to answer questions completely. For example, within the
Family Background and Childhood History section, there are questions asking the client to describe
their relationship with both their father and mother. Only one and one half lines are provided for this
response. A bit more space might encourage a better understanding of client concerns. I understand the
intake is intended to be brief but additional client explanation would be helpful. Should the intake be
re formatted so it is easier to read? Why? In general, the intake form is formatted thoughtfully. My
suggestion would be to expand certain areas, include a few more questions and provide a bit more
space between topic areas. One aspect I really appreciated was on the final page where space is
provided for the client to add any additional areas of concern. I reviewed quite a few intake forms for
this assignment and found very few that incorporated this aspect. What would you include? What
would you remove? Why? I do not feel there is anything I would remove but there is content I would
include. For example, in the beginning of the intake, a demographic section would be helpful.
Addition of this section would give the clinician further insight into the clients cultural systems.

Hitchhikers And Couch Potatoes On Team Summary
Coping with Hitchhikers and Couch Potatoes on Teams Article Review The provided article Coping
with Hitchhikers and Couch Potatoes on Teams reflects on the common types of destructive people we

without harming your reputation, helping you to grow as a personality and saving your time. It
demonstrates these people s behavior in the particular hypothetical situation being in the university lab
group, where the two of your teammates behavior makes it hard to work productively as a team and
adds more stress. The first part of the article is dedicated to examining the attitude of a hitchhiker and
ways to restrain it. Hitchhiker is described as a manipulator, who only talks and does not support it

Tom Cruise Pre Crime
In the movie that stars Tom Cruise as the head detective for the pre crime unit there are several
intriguing ideas going on. John Anderson who is played by Tome Cruise gets his information from
what is known as the pre cogs who are a group of two males and one female. These pre cogs are able
to see into the future when a murder is going to take place. These three people are floating in a liquid
unable to move to leave. They stay lying there all day and night just to serve the purpose of warning
the pre crime police of danger that is suppose to come. Which sets up our first dilemma that takes
place during this movie.
These three people or pre cogs because in the movie they are not really thought as being human beings
are really imprisoned. They don t have the ability to leave or go home; instead they are forced into
drugs that keep them somewhat conscious but not too much as to know of their surroundings. They

whatever it shall be. A person has free will and with that power they have the ability to decide to
murder someone or not. The movie shows that at the end we do in fact have a choice to whether or not
we murder someone. Hence, the rationale behind arresting people who have yet to commit a crime
should be illegal and unethical. You are stripping that person of his or her rights and reaching the
belief that humans have no sense of free

The Indian Python
The Indian Python is an arboreal snake, commonly found slithering through the jungles, specifically
trees of the East Indies. Having the ability to grow to a length of about 20 feet, the Python Molurus is
no small predator, however, ironically, these massive creatures may not be so easy to be seen. As
snakes and reptiles are famous for being able to camouflage themselves, these Pythons are able to hide
in plain sight, and along with that are absolutely able to prey on creatures with ease. The Pythons
color patterns are along the lines of white and yellow with spotted patterns that range from certain tans
and grays to brown. These colors and patterns generally range and very from place to place depending
on where they live. Certain specimen from the of Western Ghats and Assam usually contain a darker
shade, while those living near the Deccan Plateau and East Coast typically contain lighter shades. The
Indian Python contains a very carnivorous diet which includes mammals, birds and reptiles arbitrarily,
but seem to favorite mammals. The Python moves so quickly slithering from head to tail and strike
with ready fangs. Most living prey is strangled by constriction and slain in that manner. It doesn t take
much of the Pythons strength in order to kill. The kill is usually unable to breathe, and at some point
submits to the snakes grip and is swallowed whole. Once a rather large meal is consumed, the snake is
rather not fond of moving, because if it is absolutely necessary to do

Betrayal In The Girl On The Train By Paula Hawkins
I woke feverish, panicky. Guilty. I do feel guilty. Just not guilty enough (Hawkins. 56). Betrayal, a
word defined as an act of deliberate disloyalty, can be found as being the central theme of the novel
The Girl on the Train written by Paula Hawkins. This novel creates a plotline nothing short of a
betrayal. The following will be an analysis of the novel, a story written about three women. Rachel,
the girl on the train. Megan, the girl who is being watched by the girl on the train, and Anna, the girl
who stole the girl on the train s life. This will show the events based on a betrayal and dishonesty
point of view and will be analyzed through the following literary devices: symbolism, tone, and mood
as well as, foreshadowing and flashbacks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many of the acts of betrayal throughout the novel are based upon the subject of children. In fact, four
out of the seven characters in the novel have a plotline based upon the subject. To mention a few
examples: Tom left Rachel because of her inability to conceive a child. Megan lost her daughter at a
young age. Tom murdered Megan because she was pregnant with his child, and lastly, Rachel s hatred
for Anna is outraged because Anna was able to marry Tom and have his baby. For these characters,
babies symbolized something much greater than having the child, itself. Rather, having a child meant
that they had gotten validation from their relationships, and also that they could focus on someone
other than themselves. For many of the characters, having children allowed them to focus on the
future and no longer on their pasts. For lack of a better term, having a child was a clean slate for each
of the characters. I can t risk going backward, it s always a bad idea (Hawkins. 65). This quote touches
on how Megan is still grieving over the death of her daughter. When Megan was sixteen, she gave
birth to her baby girl, Livie. She was betrayed by the baby s father left because of the pregnancy. This
left Megan being a single mom, meaning she had to do everything on her own. One night, she decided
to take a bath, naturally, she brought Livie in the bathtub with her. Megan fell asleep and when she
awoke her daughter had drowned. Therefore, when Megan found out that she was pregnant again, she
believed that she had been given a second chance and that she could commemorate her daughter by
being a great mother to her unborn

Synthetic Biology Therapies And Treatment Of Infectious...
To begin, synbio technology is becoming a necessity in the biomedicine and pharmaceutical industry.
Synthetic biology therapies has been developed for the treatment of infectious diseases and cancer, as
well as approaches in vaccine development (Ruder et al., 2011). As Ruder et al. (2011) have
discovered, effective synthetic biology therapies can been rationally designed and constructed to alter
mechanisms underlying disease and related biological processes. In the process of developing
synthetic biology for prevention of infection, bacteriophages have been manipulated to attack bacterial
strains by disrupting antibiotic defense mechanisms. The development of these synthetic biology
therapies is essential in preventing widespread of diseases which may be unstoppable using other
means. In the case of cancer treatment, synthetic biology plays an even more important role. Despite
the success of modern cancer therapies, the major therapeutic interventions surgery, radiation and
chemotherapy still causes considerable damage to healthy tissues in cancer patients. In this aspect,
synthetic biology is no longer merely an alternative, but more of a necessity as we need new cancer
treatments that precisely distinguish between diseases and healthy cells (Ruder et al., 2011). With
synthetic biology, synbiologists are able to engineer bacteria to target and invade only cancer cells,
programming the invasion to occur only in specific vivo conditions, as well as engineering bacteria

In college, your friend becomes your support group and later own your second family. I would have
inspirational quotes around the floor about choosing wisely, and how to be a good friend. To promote
roommate unity, I would have a scavenger hunt in which the residents pair with their roommates, and
explore the entire campus together checking off checkpoints along the way; which would build trust
and hopefully a sense of team and connectivity. At the end of the scavenger hunt, the whole floor

We Must Stand Against The Devil s Scheme
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil s schemes (New
International Version, Eph. 6:11). Unlike God, the Devil is not omnipotent; imploring demons as
assistants to construct attitudes, institutions, evil influences, and distractions into the course of this
world to effectively steer us away from Christ. Although Satan is a menacing enemy, it is ultimately
human nature and human choices that pose the greatest threat, twisting our perception of the world
around us. In contrast, we must stand against the devil s schemes , holding a firm position against
temptation and in turn, covering our n and in turn, covering our exposed areas of weakness− just as an
army must do in warfare. As depicted in the book of Job, the Devil s role in God s plan is to provide
tests for us to overcome, which will ultimately undermine him as such challenges subtly serve as a
guide to assist us in recognizing evil. The testing of faith , or the personal trust in God and confidence
in Christian doctrine, is recurrent to further strengthen and establish a rooted foundation and
relationship with God. In The Screwtape Letters, C.S. Lewis attempts to persuade Christians to not fall
under the temptation of sin by speaking from a different perspective about spirituality, Christianity,
and human nature and choices.
By depicting disappointment with other Christians and hypocrisy as snares, Lewis declares that the
church is the devil s foremost tool for

I discovered my grandfather had cancer. No matter how much I told myself he could live, that he
might not die, somehow I still felt there was no way for him to get better. He was so young, only 63.
He fought so hard. Whenever I feel my own life taking a turn for the worse, as if things will never get
better, I remember how many years he lived fighting such a scary and difficult disease. The
psychological stages that are typical during the grieving process are denial (The No, not me stage),
anger (The Why me? stage), bargaining (The If I do this, you ll do that stage), depression (The It s
really happened stage), and the acceptance (The This is what happened stage). My grandpa was a

My grandpa was very accepting of what was happening, there wasn t really anything he can do about
it he just had do take it day by day. Overall, I d say the stage theory is pretty accurate and realistic.
Question #2
My stage of development would be young adulthood. According to Erikson, the crisis I m
experiencing is intimacy vs. isolation which is learning to make personal commitment to another s
such as a spouse, parent or partner. The Intimacy vs. Isolation conflict is emphasized around the ages
of 20 to 34. I d say this stage is pretty accurate. This stage of development has a bunch stressors and
issues. In this stage of being an adult we seek one or more companions and love. As we try to find
mutually satisfying relationships, primarily through marriage and friends, we generally also begin to
start a family, though this age has been pushed back for many couples who today don t start their
families until their late thirties. If this stage is successful, we can experience intimacy on a deep level.
If we re not successful, isolation and distance from others may occur. And when we don t find it easy
to create satisfying relationships, our world can begin to shrink as, in defense, we can feel superior to
others. There s nothing really highlighting about what I m going through with this stage of
development. Everyone in the world will go through this stage; it s a part of life. I really don t have to
worry about the next developmental stage just yet; I still

Critical Analysis Of Requiem For A Dream
Requiem for a Dream is a 2000 psychological drama directed by Darren Aronofsky. The story follows
four characters as they struggle with, and eventually succumb to their different addictions. This leads
to the characters imprisonment in a world of delusions and reckless desperation that is eventually
overtaken by reality. The film makes effective use of imagery and sound to create the feeling of the
film reeling towards the end at an impossible pace. By the end of the movie, the characters are
completely changed: withered, broken, and alone. Requiem for a Dream was screened at the 2000
Cannes film festival, and was met with primarily positive reviews.
Darren Aronofsky created the feeling of the film speeding up by shortening the length of the scenes as
the film progresses. At the beginning of the movie scenes are 90 seconds to 2 minutes in length, and it
s by shortening the length of scenes and frames that he created a sense of unease within the audience.
It s also reflective of the emotional states of the characters. At the beginning of the film, the characters
aren t necessarily too far gone to be saved. They still have time for each other, for their future, and
their plans. But as the scenes shorten their chances of saving themselves become slimmer. They
characters find themselves more and more alone as they becomes slaves to their addiction, doing
whatever they can to get their next fix.
Requiem for a dream is split between two primary narratives which center on

Social Media And Public Administration
In their article Social Media and Public Administration: Theoretical Dimensions and Introduction to
the Symposium, published in 2011 in Administrative Theory Praxis Vol. 33, Iss. 3, pp. 325 340,
authors Thomas A. Bryer and Staci M. Zavatarro introduce the rising trend of social media use in
public administration, in both government agencies and nonprofits. As public administration scholars
and practitioners themselves, the authors sought to analyze these trends further, and to explore more
comprehensively how social media technologies are utilized in public organizations, as well as these
methods outcomes. The article is laid out as follows: First, the authors attempt to define social media;
second, they identify common challenges and obstacles that public organizations face when utilizing
social media tools ; and finally, they identify areas for future research. The authors hope that
ultimately their research will provide assistance to those public administration practitioners interested
in successfully utilizing social media. The authors first task in their research was to come up with a
mutually agreed upon and easy to understand definition of social media. For a starting or base
definition, the authors cite the Federal Web Managers Council (FWMC), a group of federal
government specialists assigned to develop best practices for federal agency Web sites and general
online presence. Many information technology (IT) arms of various federal agencies have adopted and

Interlock Migrates New York City s 911 Archive Data the Largest Emergency Call Center in the

Founded in 1968, it is operated by the New York City Police Department, the Fire Department of

Communications handling interdepartmental coordination. With approximately one billion files of 911
call recordings in an aging archive storage solution, when NYC s 911 archive data needed to be

aging archive storage system that was reaching end of support. The legacy equipment was
experiencing numerous technical challenges and faced rapidly increasing support costs. The archive
data had also grown exponentially, and there were multiple different conflicting data retention policies

would not be able to parse the data as it is in a separate que. But, Interlock s custom program ran the
data through data analysis, and parsed the files individually to meet the highly nuanced requirements
of NYC 911 s retention and legal hold policies. While parsing the data, Interlock also helped NYC 911
define and implement data retention policies that decreased the quantity of files by almost 50%,

Anger In The Manciple s Tale By Geoffrey Chaucer
History has a way of repeating itself. Mistakes made by earlier civilizations are re made in modern
day. It is true that people learn from their mistakes, but it is what they are ignorant of that gets
repeated. If people knew something was morally wrong, they would avoid doing it. If they were raised
to believe it was right, they would still do it, thinking they are doing right. Not only bad things have a
reincarnation in the future, but good things as well. Even a manner of which a society of the past acts
can be mirrored in the modern world. Authors have studied these occurrences and applied them in
their works. One such author is Geoffrey Chaucer who, in his work, The Canterbury Tales, has
provided tales such as The Parson s Tale , The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first of the two characters in the tale is Constance, the religious one. It is said that she is the mirror
of all courtesy,/Her heart a chamber of true holiness,/ Her hand a ministration of largess (Chaucer, The
Man of Law s Tale , line 166 168). She is the model of a virtuous being. She has absolute trust in God,
and she teaches other to do the same. She practices being loyal to the law as well as her faith. She is
exemplified as a materially poor person but spiritually rich. She can resist temptation because she
looks forward to a better life in Heaven. Through hard times and good times, she remains always
faithful to God, and God always protects her. She can most accurately be related to a modern day
monk. They have no money, for they have taken a vow of poverty, but they remain spiritually rich.
Being spiritually rich means they leave behind family, possessions, and worldly position, and even the
outer marks of personal identity, symbolized by hair, beard, and wardrobe (Bhikkhu Bodhi). They
trust in God, and are strong followers of their faith, like Constance. Since The monastic lifestyle
places the monk in dependence on the generosity and kindness of others , when there is no one around
to provide the monk with generosity, their only option is to trust in God. They still follow the official
laws, but

How Did The Gold Rushes Affect Australia s Economy
Introduction
The gold rushes was a major event in Australian history. The gold rushes were important because it
shaped Australia s economy. The gold rushes started in 1851 when Edward/William Hammond
Hargreaves discovered gold in the New South Wales colony on the 12th of February. The gold rushes

4 Types Of Reaction Lab
The purpose of this lab is to decipher and observe the four types of reactions.
In station 1, the Mg(s) + O2 (g) 2MgO (s) + heat is exothermic and synthesis. Synthesis is also known
as Direct combination. Direct combination is when reactions are made up of two or more reactants
that form one product. Magnesium combined with Oxygen to form magnesium oxide. Before there
were two elements and then they combined and from a more complex product. There is also only one
product and two reactants. The combination of Magnesium and oxygen allows one to predict the
outcome of a direct combination. Also, before the reaction Magnesium was hard and shiny, after the
reaction it was still a solid but it was white and flaky. In station 2, the Cu CO3 (s) CO ... Show more

Single replacement reaction is when a cation replaces another cation in a pair. The reactants in a single
replacement are made up of one element and one compound. The zinc takes the place of the hydrogen
and forms a product known as zinc chloride and hydrogen, where the hydrogen is left on its own. The
hydrochloric acid is clear and the zinc is a small metal clump. After the reaction, zinc was still
reusable and it produced a gas. One can predict that single replacement will occur because there is one
element on its own.
In station 4, Zn(C2H3O2)2 (aq) + 2Na Po4 (aq) Zn(Po4)2 + 2NaC2H3O2 (aq) is endothermic and is a
double replacement. A double replacement reaction involves two aqueous solutions the cation and
anions stitch to form a new reaction. The zinc acetate and the sodium phosphate combine and the Zinc
switches places with the sodium creating zinc phosphate and sodium acetate. Before both reactions
were clear but after combining they turned cloudy and formed precipitate.
This lab allowed students to understand and observe the four reactions. In order to further this lab and
knowledge, a further lab can be conducted. In the lab one can learn about and practice the four
reactions and balancing

Army Contractual Standards
Contractual standards under which new recruits joining the Army apply through have been under
extreme scrutiny. As leaders brought up in a high operational tempo, we have spent a lot of time
discussing what we believe to be lax standards. Serving as a detailed recruiter has changed my
perception of what I felt I knew, and opened my eyes to the Army s plan for the future. The challenges
we face may not necessarily be those that we see right in front of us. Rather the challenge is what are
we leaving behind when we depart the service? The Army spends vast amounts of money every year
in the recruitment, and training of new recruits every year. The commanders, senior leaders, and

Legalizing Marijuana Argument Analysis
Over time people continue to misunderstand marijuana. Many link it to several adverse effects,
however, the drug can have positive contributions. In 2015, Canadians elected a federal government
that proposed to legalize marijuana after four states, Alaska, Colorado, Washington and Oregon and
the District of Columbia legalized marijuana for recreational purposes. The question, therefore, is why
this is a good move?
Problem statement
At the onset, those who challenge cannabis legalization cite several problems, in particular among the
users. They argue that most of them exhibit a cognitive deficit and up to 15% of users will become
addicted (Leyton, 2016). Also, if one stops using the drug psychomotor impairment and milder
cerebral can persist for heavy users at an average of eleven joints per day for a decade (Bosker et al.,
2013). Alongside these many withdrawal effects, the use could also have some ... Show more content

The question, therefore, would be just how big is this danger? The truth of the matter is that in car
accidents, alcohol and other intoxication have a 10 fold increase while that of marijuana nearly
doubled with cannabis intake. Others associate it with greater schizophrenia (Hickman et al.,2009)
although the magnitude of the effect is small (Gage, Zammit Hickmann, 2013). In fact, the finding
reveals that preventing about 9000 people from the use of cannabis only protect one case of
schizophrenia (Hickman et al., 2009) implying that the effect of marijuana is minimal. More recent
studies reveal that the last thoughts linking it to psychosis reflect more in tobacco use than marijuana
(Gage, Zammit Hickman, 2014). Regarding risks, marijuana ranks eighth out of twenty possible
substances that produce personal problems than MDMA, ketamine, anabolic steroids among other
hallucinogenic drugs compared to amphetamines, cocaine, heroin, alcohol, crack and

  • 2. An Efficient Implementation Of Finite Impulse Response... Abstract With improvements in capacity and performance and a decrease in cost, FPGAs have become a viable solution for making custom chips and programmable DSP devices. This paper presents an efficient implementation of Finite Impulse Response Filter (FIR) using Distributed Arithmetic (DA) architecture based on FPGA with the help of xilinx system generator software. Here, the multipliers in FIR filter are replaced with multiplierless DA based technique to remove high frequency Electrocardiogram(EMG) noise from ECG signal. As digital filters plays very significant role in the analysis of the low frequency components in Electrocardiogram (ECG) signal. The ECG is susceptible to noise and it is essential to remove the noise in order to support any decision making for specialist and automatic heart disorder diagnosis systems. We purposed that the signals under experiment has been added with muscle noise and after applying different FIR method, the signals according to signal noise ratio (SNR) and MSE(mean square error) are evaluated. It introduces an effective technique for the denoising of ECG signals corrupted by High frequency muscles contraction noise. The performances of the system were evaluated using the Massachusetts Institute of Technology University and Beth Israel Hospital (MIT BIH) database. Muscle noise is taken from MIT BIH noise stress database .Simulation results shows that High frequency EMG noise from ECG was removed effectively by using FIR low pass filter. ... • 3. Confucianism And Legalism The law in which the Qin constructed was harsh and unjust. They abolished the Zhou ist feudal system, replacing it with controlled local administration. The term in which this practice is called is Legalism; the belief in which people are born with evil tendencies. The government demanded total subordination of the people to the ruler. Although there is no commonly recognized founder, there is one person who is credited for the establishment of Legalism: Shang Yang, an important statesman during the Warring States Period for the Qin. The policies and measures initiated by Shang Yang were all designed to strengthen the state at the expense of the common people and the nobility, to subjugate the society under state domination. Through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This system was to keep everyone in their place and avoid rebellions and uprisings. There were reports of subordination put into place once every three months, summaries every six, and permanent records every twelve. There was a doctrine fixed into law, called the Six Parasites. This is however a textual problem, there are actually sixteen. These parasites were rites, music, odes, history, cultivation, goodness, filial devotion, brotherly love, sincerity, trustworthiness, uprightness, integrity, humaneness, rightness, criticism of army, and lastly being ashamed of fighting. To violate any of these laws against the six was subject to punishment. Death to any criminals and any officials who allowed crimes, their punishments were carried out to their families and three generations after. When punishments are imposed, they shall not be applied to the guilty party alone. Punishments were severe. Small crimes were punished severly to make sure the punishment was understood and not repeated, especially if it were a larger crime. When Shang Yang wrote, ...if they let their ambition go too far, they will become too strong... it is interpreted that knowledge and aspiration for a better life can be power and lead to rebellion against the government. More consequential victims were the critical thinking of Legalists and the spirit of ruling by law, blamed for Qin s demise and condemned for two millennia by Confucians advocating the rule by men ... • 4. The Conquest Of New Spain Summary Any student of history has come to recognize the fact that history is written by the victor and in lieu of this, research becomes essential to uncover where the truth lies. The True History of the Conquest of New Spain, so ironically named, is a personal account for historical events leading up to the conquest of New Spain, formerly known as the City of Mexico. The author, Bernal Diaz, was a soldier of the conquering army who composed the document well after the events took place sometime between 1552 and 1557. Though the document did provide insight in regards to the victor s perspective, it also served as a tool to rewrite the account of the conquered people. From what we know, the author Bernal Diaz Del Castillo, commonly referred to as Bernal Diaz, was a soldier of fortune. Coming from a moderately poor background he embarked on several expeditions under the lead of multiple captains to the new world hoping to make a prosperous living from the precious metals he ... This section highlights that history has created a false narrative depicting the natives as a victimized people, which they were to some extent but only in the fashion that they did not possess the same technology for warfare, immunity of communal diseases transmitted, and they were not anticipating combat. All other factors considered, the natives stood to be a potential threat. In regards to knowledge obtained by Spaniards prior to arrival and knowledge gained from observation, it would be remiss had they not prepared for battle. This argument is not to be misconstrued in approving their actions; I do recognize colonization as an evil for both the reasons employed and its damaging effects, but rather to change the narrative surrounding that of the native people. While they did experience a tragedy, I feel that it is erroneous to write them into history as being incompetent resulting from their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Studying Real Time Application On College Student For... In this paper, we are going to develop real time application on college student for automatic detection and recognition of student during academics, followed by display of personal information of students. This application makes proper use of CCTV camera for real time face detection of students of particular college. The proposed application can be divided into four major steps. In first step, each person in the image is detected. In the second step, a face detection algorithm detects faces of each person. In third step, we use a face recognition algorithm to match the faces of persons in the captured image with the database of students faces which also stores personal as well as academic information of each student. In final step, the face of student along with his/her personnel information will be displayed on screen to the user when the image captured by CCTV camera contains any student image of present college. The college administrator as well as faculty members can use this application to identify students and also to distinguish students from outsiders. Keywords Real time face detection, face recognition, denoising I. INTRODUCTION Now a days identification of students in college campus is very necessary to identify outsiders from college campus. So we decided to make an automatic device which identifies students of college. • 6. Melia In The Ruined Maid Throughout the poem, The Ruined Maid , Melia who represents the ruined maid literally shows us a different version of what it means to be ruined. A former country maiden, now turned into an illustrious town girl, Melia, happens to meet with an old friend of hers who is from the country like her. Being a country girl, she is filled with admiration and envy upon seeing Melia as though she was seeing her in a new light. When Melia is asked by her friend as to how she became so prosperous, Melia in turn asks her if she hadn t known that Melia had been ruined. Melia s friend then points out various instances of the life that Melia had lived through as a country girl. If we were to put ourselves in the place of Melia s friend and compare our lives with Melia s, we might just appear to be finding ourselves more ruined than Melia : You left us in tatters, without shoes or socks (line 5 ) . ... Melia s physical transformation also astonishes her friend since Melia s hands had changed from being country or farm hands to those like a lady as well as a beautiful change in Melia s facial complexion. • 7. The Unique History Of The Negro Baseball Leagues In this essay we will take a look at the unique history of the Negro Baseball Leagues. We will discuss how they were an integral part of the African American culture and what they meant to their communities. We will also discuss some of the more famous players of the Negro Leagues as well as take a look at what the impact of Jackie Robinson being the first African American to be signed to a professional Major League team was and how it affected the future of baseball. Black American men were banned from being able to play professional baseball from the early 1900 s till the late 1940 s. This sparked the creation of what was known as the Negro Leagues. The first successful Negro League was formed in 1920 by Andrew Rube Foster (https:// negroleaguebaseball.com), but suspended operations in 1931 due to the financial hardships associated with the Great Depression (Baseball: An Illustrated History, G. Ward, Page 87). As the Great Depression ended and America got closer to WWII, the popularity of the Negro leagues grew. The creation of the Negro National League and the Negro American League represented the two premier Negro leagues in the 1930 s and 1940 s. They were just as organized as their white counterparts. They played a 140 game schedule, had their own all star games, as well as their own World Series (Baseball: An Illustrated History, G. Ward, Page 247). The Negro leagues flourished during WWII. School Uniforms Are Inefficient And Unnecessary Summary In the article , School Uniforms Are Inefficient and Unnecessary, by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) OF Nevada, the ACLU of Nevada successfully builds an argument in opposition to institution of uniforms in school by alluding to historical precedents, appealing to patriotism, and using ethos to foster a sense of solidarity. The ACLU of Nevada wastes no time in starting its argument as evident in its historical reference during the introductory paragraph. The ACLU of Nevada argues that the First Amendment, the right to freedom of speech, is granted to every American citizen and that, students do not shed their constitutional rights at the schoolhouse gate, an opinion from the free speech case during the Vietnam war. Through this emotional argument the ACLU of Nevada conveys to its audience that the installment of uniforms in our educational institutions id not only wrong, but that it goes against the American identity. • 13. Flagstaff Arizona Mental Health Assignment Introduction I thought a lot about this assignment. It was important, to me, that I gathered information that would be applicable for the clients I will serve as a social worker. Here in Flagstaff Arizona, we are fortunate to live in a community which celebrates cultural diversity. Flagstaff is home to a large Latino, Diné and Hopi population. I wanted to critique a mental health assessment that I felt would be culturally sensitive, appropriate and address the needs of these populations. Having said that, I analyzed this intake form in terms of its usability for a variety of different cultures and populations. I also aimed to assess the intake form in relation to sexual orientation and issues around gender identity. The hope being that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I understand the intake is intended to be brief but additional client explanation would be helpful. Should the intake be re formatted so it is easier to read? Why? In general, the intake form is formatted thoughtfully. My suggestion would be to expand certain areas, include a few more questions and provide a bit more space between topic areas. One aspect I really appreciated was on the final page where space is provided for the client to add any additional areas of concern. I reviewed quite a few intake forms for this assignment and found very few that incorporated this aspect. What would you include? What would you remove? Why? I do not feel there is anything I would remove but there is content I would include. For example, in the beginning of the intake, a demographic section would be helpful. Addition of this section would give the clinician further insight into the clients cultural systems. Questions might ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Betrayal, a word defined as an act of deliberate disloyalty, can be found as being the central theme of the novel The Girl on the Train written by Paula Hawkins. This novel creates a plotline nothing short of a betrayal. The following will be an analysis of the novel, a story written about three women. Rachel, the girl on the train. Megan, the girl who is being watched by the girl on the train, and Anna, the girl who stole the girl on the train s life. This will show the events based on a betrayal and dishonesty point of view and will be analyzed through the following literary devices: symbolism, tone, and mood as well as, foreshadowing and flashbacks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many of the acts of betrayal throughout the novel are based upon the subject of children. In fact, four out of the seven characters in the novel have a plotline based upon the subject. To mention a few examples: Tom left Rachel because of her inability to conceive a child. Megan lost her daughter at a young age. Tom murdered Megan because she was pregnant with his child, and lastly, Rachel s hatred for Anna is outraged because Anna was able to marry Tom and have his baby. For these characters, babies symbolized something much greater than having the child, itself. Rather, having a child meant that they had gotten validation from their relationships, and also that they could focus on someone other than themselves. For many of the characters, having children allowed them to focus on the future and no longer on their pasts. For lack of a better term, having a child was a clean slate for each of the characters. I can t risk going backward, it s always a bad idea (Hawkins. 65). This quote touches on how Megan is still grieving over the death of her daughter. When Megan was sixteen, she gave birth to her baby girl, Livie. She was betrayed by the baby s father left because of the pregnancy. This left Megan being a single mom, meaning she had to do everything on her own. One night, she decided to take a bath, naturally, she brought Livie in the bathtub with her. Synthetic biology therapies has been developed for the treatment of infectious diseases and cancer, as well as approaches in vaccine development (Ruder et al., 2011). As Ruder et al. (2011) have discovered, effective synthetic biology therapies can been rationally designed and constructed to alter mechanisms underlying disease and related biological processes. In the process of developing synthetic biology for prevention of infection, bacteriophages have been manipulated to attack bacterial strains by disrupting antibiotic defense mechanisms. The development of these synthetic biology therapies is essential in preventing widespread of diseases which may be unstoppable using other means. In the case of cancer treatment, synthetic biology plays an even more important role. Despite the success of modern cancer therapies, the major therapeutic interventions surgery, radiation and chemotherapy still causes considerable damage to healthy tissues in cancer patients. In this aspect, synthetic biology is no longer merely an alternative, but more of a necessity as we need new cancer treatments that precisely distinguish between diseases and healthy cells (Ruder et al., 2011). The story follows four characters as they struggle with, and eventually succumb to their different addictions. This leads to the characters imprisonment in a world of delusions and reckless desperation that is eventually overtaken by reality. The film makes effective use of imagery and sound to create the feeling of the film reeling towards the end at an impossible pace. They still have time for each other, for their future, and their plans. But as the scenes shorten their chances of saving themselves become slimmer.
