Evaluation Of A Clinical Skills Essay
This essay will discuss a clinical skill in which I have become competent in practicing. I will use a
reflective model to discuss how I have achieved the necessary level of competence in my nurse
training programme. The reflective model I have chosen to use is Gibbs model (Gibbs 1988). Gibbs
model of reflection incorporates the following: description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion
and an action plan (Gibbs 1988). The model will be applied to the essay to facilitate critical thought,
relating theory to practice where the model allows. Discussion will include the knowledge
underpinning practice and the evidence base for the clinical skill. A conclusion to the essay will then
be given which will discuss my reflection skills, acknowledge my competence and show my personal
and professional development.
The clinical skill I have chosen to reflect on within this essay is the administration of Intramuscular
(IM) injections. I have chosen this as within my first clinical placement this was a widely used method
of drug administration and I became involved in the process of IM injections. I therefore researched
the topic of IM injections and my knowledge within this area developed.
The first stage of Gibbs (1988) model of reflection requires a description of events. I was asked to
administer a drug to a patient via IM injection. I had observed this clinical skill on a variety of
occasions but have not had the chance to administer any IM injection under supervision. On

Embryonic Stem Cells Essay
Stem cells
Stem cells are a type of cells that are responsible for the renewal and the regeneration of damaged and
ageing tissues. Stem cells can be divided into two categories: Embryonic Stem cells and Adult stem
cells also known as Somatic stem cells. Embryonic stem cells can be retrieve from the foetus,
amniotic fluid, the placenta, and the umbilical cord blood and in the early embryo. Adult stem cells
can be retrieved from many other parts of the body once a child has been born and through to
adulthood. Those parts of the body are skin, hair follicles, bone marrow and blood, brain and spinal
cord, the lining of the nose, gut, lung, joint fluid, muscle, fat, menstrual blood and etc. Embryonic
stem cells are pluripotent, which mean they can develop into any of the 220 different body cells while
adult stem cells only be able to develop into muscle, bone marrow and brain cells.
Why are stem cells are so special for the purposes of scientific research?

The Theory Of Oedipus Complex
Introduction The term Oedipal complex was initially used by Sigmund Freud as he developed a theory
to explain the stages of psychosexual stages of development in an attempt to explain or describe the
boy child feelings of attraction to the mother and anger and envy towards the father (Fear, 2005).
Basically, the boy may feel like he is competing with the father for the belonging and possession of
the mother. The boy sees the father as a threat for her affections, desires and attentions. In terms of the
psychoanalytic theory, Oedipus complex may refer to the desire of a child to sexual engagement with
a parent of opposite sex, specifically the boy s amatory concentration, attention and attraction to the
mother. Freud argues that the complexity of Oedipus plays an imperative function in the stage of
Phallic where a kid undergoes psychosexual growth. Freud also trusts that if the stage completes
successfully and the child manages to involve himself or herself with a parent of opposite gender
ultimately, this involvement leads to the development of a sexual identity that is mature. As this theory
explains, the boy child admires to seize or possess the mother fully and if possible out do the father,
who this child always sees as a great enemy of the mother s love. The Freud Oedipus complex usually
happens or takes place in the phallic stage of the children between the ages of three to five years, who
at this age undergoes psychosexual development. This stage in the real sense

Prepaid Wireless Job
Working in computer field was my dream at a young age. I was always interested working for prepaid
wireless services such as telecommunication companies and power energy companies. During my
senior year in high school, I got a part time job at Metro PCS in Clarkston. The store was close to my
school and my house. Now I work at Sarman Wireless, a prepaid retail store in Decatur. Both jobs are
very similar, but I prefer to work with Sarman Wireless s boss, Hassan than Metro PCS s boss, Salah
due of ways of showing trust, control and treatment of the employees.
Trust is everything in working environment. Hassan shows me that he trusts me by giving me what he
had worked so hard, the keys of the store and the bank account number. I deposit the cash money to
the bank sometimes without his knowledge. His honesty and caring tell me that he believed in me. He
made me the leader when he is not around. On the hand, Salah had a trust issue. He didn t trust any of
his employees including myself. He would tell me to watch my coworkers if they were stealing. I didn
t like that idea because I knew he would tell my coworkers to watch me. Even though I was a part
timer, I didn t feel welcome to his team. I didn t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

in life. His supervision taught me a valuable lesson. He makes me to work on the job I love. I only
work for four days, but each day there is new challenge and new staff to learn. I felt so welcome in
Sarman Wireless. Most employees are college students like me. Respecting, caring and honesty

Adolescence is a period of dramatic and revolutionary change. In western cultures it is the time of life,
either most reviled, depicted as posing the greatest threat to the established order of things, or most
celebrated and romanticized, in particular within the sphere of popular culture, for its creative and
challenging energies. At its onset, adolescence can be seen as the beginning of the end of childhood
and as such is a time of mourning for the loss of the relative dependency and security of childhood,
characterized by attempts at recapturing what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is certain for adolescents. However, the characteristics of the individuals should remain
heterogeneous, after all, in high school several students of various backgrounds experience similar
issues.
Since the environment among a school is not that of a clinic or an outside counseling practice, certain
planning needs to occur while forming groups. Rather than client s willingly signing up or seeking out
a group, a survey would be completed by faculty and staff to identify potential group members.
Students would also participate in the survey process, giving perception of their needs. These surveys
would be a form of data collection necessary in addressing needs that could otherwise be unknown.
Following this, a meeting with potential group members would take place individually. The students
would be informed about the group and what they may gain from it. Expectations, participation and
confidentially would also be discussed. From these meetings, the counselor would then be able to
determine the student s interest level and seriousness of need or participation. With careful evaluation,
this screening leads to group selection. Informed consent would be introduced and could have been

Throughout the film, Lee establishes two main characters that illustrate the right thing , starting

Sal comments, It s about turning that shit off and getting the fuck outta my pizzeria Sal clearly is

accomplished by the story of the trash can . When Mookie throws the trash can, it may not seem
correct, but ultimately it serves all these needs with each character. Sal injustice with Radio Raheem
was the reason for the riot. For example, Raheem entered the pizzeria and his boombox was
enormously loud. That made Sal emotions and actions become very upset. Then, Sal s anger lead to
destroying Raheem boombox and that is how both started to fight. Somehow, Raheem he refused to

Traffic Jam In Los Angeles
Traffic Jam in Los Angeles Traffic jams are a case where there are a large number of vehicles close
together and they are moving very slow. Traffic jams have become an issue to many of the cities
around the world, some being known across the world as the traffic jam mysteries, for example,
Mumbai. However, as the time continues other cities have become part of the traffic jam and they are
facing the traffic as a major issue. Although some people support the traffic jam in Los Angeles, there
are many people believe that traffic jam is a global issue, and it causes many problems such as wasting
time, and air pollution especially in Los Angeles. Traffic jams are feared and hate by many due to the
challenges like wasting time. While traveling from one place to the other one always wishes to reach
the destination early enough, but in the case of the traffic jams this usually changes. A person is often
late to work, class or any other place a person was wishing to be. In some of the case, people have lost
their jobs since they could not make it to work on time due to the traffic jam. It is important to identify
that traffic jam in Los Angeles is more of the increase in the number of vehicles (Bento et al. 44). It
has been identified that in the days when the fuel prices are low there tends to be a large number of
vehicles in town unlike when the prices are high. The increase of the motor vehicles and the jam has
led to people engaging into other activities while driving.

unit thermal power plant is considered which is solved for two different cases with and without losses.
Vo Ngoc Dieu [16], proposed an augmented Lagrange Hopfield network (ALHN) for real power
dispatch on large scale power systems. The proposed ALHN is a continuous Hopfield network with its
energy function based on augmented Lagrange function. For this combination, the ALHN method can
easily deal with large scale problems with nonlinear constraints. The proposed ALHN has been tested
on systems from 40 units to 240 units, IEEE 118 bus and IEEE 300 bus systems, and the obtained
results have been compared to those from other methods. The test results have shown that the ALHN
method can obtain better solutions than the com¬pared methods in a very fast manner. Therefore, the
proposed ALHN could be favorable for implementation on the real power dispatch problems for large
scale systems. The proposed ALHN has been tested on differ¬ent systems with large number of
generating units and buses for two cases neglecting power loss and including power loss in

Yardbird Analysis
Yardbird, a short story that was released in 2012 directed by Micheal Spiccia which is his only public
work. This short film is a very interesting piece that has small parts of horror entwined into a
supernatural/fantasy theme that is set in what can be perceived as reality. There are many different
themes that can be found within this short, like with power comes responsibility, but the one I find
most interesting is You can t fix everything . You can t fix everything was first said by her fatherly
figure when Ruby is going to bed while look at what seems to be an old photo of some kind, you can
speculate that it was something to do with her mother or maybe even some old relatives however there
is no hard evidence of what the photo contains, all we can believe is that it has to do with her directly.
The reason we know that it has to do with her directly is because she is a young girl who is living
alone with her fatherly figure gets told by her fatherly figure that you can t fix everything , and he says
this with a sour tone, as if he is affected and he is just trying to console himself. Going on the idea that
the photo was an old photo of Ruby and her family which was broken for any reason, the line you can
t fix everything fits perfectly because of what the dialogue and the prop could be conveying which is
that nobody has the power to fix everything. In this scene, the director is further developing the idea
of, when some things break they can never be fixed In

Steve Jobs And The Computer Industry
Steve Jobs Steve Jobs career began in a blink of an eye. He was well known for all his amazing
products such as apple 1, apple 2, mackintosh, etc. He also purchased an animation company from
George Lucas, which later became Pixar Animation Studios. He invested money into the company out
of his own pocket. The studio went on to produce popular movies. Jobs had many people help him
build what he has today especially with the help of Steve Wozniak (Steve, n.d.). Together they
changed the computer industry. Jobs was very successful but like everyone else he had to start from
nothing and his company made billions when he was just 21. He has an amazing story to tell about his
life, career, and how he left a big impact in the computer industry.
Early Life
Steven Paul Jobs was born in San Francisco, California on February 24, 1955, His birth parents were
named Joanne Schieble and Abdulfattan Jandali. Joanne Schieble worked as a speech therapist and
Abdulfattan Jandali worked as a professor in political science. Abdulfattan Jandali was from Syria. A
week after Steve was born he was given up for adoption. He then was adopted by a couple named
Clara and Paul Jobs. Clara worked as an accountant and Paul was a Coast Guard veteran and
machinist. Jobs family eventually moved to Mountain View, California in 1961. This area was
beginning to be known as the best area for electronics. Mountain View was later renamed to Silicon

The Evolution Of Information Management Systems
The evolution of technology and the importance of information management systems have led to the
evolution of new experts in the industry known as Data Scientists who work on data science. Despite
the hype and confusion surrounding data science, the need for people who can interpret data to help
organizations make informed business decisions is very real. Data scientists look at the data sets in
nature or complex systems and extract information from it. In today s age businesses have started to
gain tons of data and science already knew how to deal with such large volumes trough physics,
applied mathematics and computer science.
Traditionally any information management system has been defined as the collection and management
of information from one or more sources and information dissemination to relevant stakeholders.
However, the message that is missing in this definition is that the quality of information system
determines the outcome of the information even before data collection . A poor information system
would drive employees to take decisions and form opinions based on assumptions rather than
substance. There would be no synergy of thoughts and thus would lead to conflicting views of
managers and leaders. Hence, it is imperative for information management system to be in line with
the business strategy. And therefore Data scientists must be a part of senior management meetings and
business objectives must be clearly discussed and shared to enable him prepare

The setting in A P, which occurs in 1961, describes the antagonist as a traditional town with
inhabitants who conveys conservative thoughts. This is the post war period when the market is

located in a small town northern Boston, far away from the big cities. Thus, people living there are not

At the beginning of the story, Sammy notices three girls in a bathing suit walking into the store, which
really catches his eyes. Bathing suits are defined as improper dressing in public places except for the
beach in his town. In his perspective, he does not consider that it is an inappropriate dressing in a local
store. On the contrary, he thinks the girls are attracted to him, so he keeps on observing them.
However, that s not the only reason Sammy is interested in them. He thinks these girls are different
because what they were wearing undoubtedly go against the norm of the society in their time. Sammy
describes that: the girls were walking against the usual traffic (748). For Sammy, the girls in bathing
suits were actually using their own method to protest conservative rules. They violate the dressing rule
in the town which strikes Sammy s mindset. He realizes the bathing suits symbolized personal
freedom which is the value he aspires to have in his life. Therefore, when Lengel condemns the girls
for their indecent dressing. Sammy stands up to support the girls. When Sammy quits, he removes his
work uniform to symbolize he is no longer a conformer in A P. By leaving with the white shirt his

The Green Bird, By Carlo Gozzi
The eighteenth century marked a period of renewal within Italy. This transition saw the acceptance of
new philosophies that were rampant throughout most of Europe (Yawney 2). The Age of
Enlightenment, as it has come to be known, brought upon changes within the realms of economic,
social, and religious affairs. However, amidst any form of radical change come those who do not attest
to it. In his fable, The Green Bird, Venetian dramatist Carlo Gozzi incorporates subject matter that
attacks not only the realism seen in Carlo Goldoni s theatre but also the thought of modern
Enlightenment ideology.
The first half of the Age of Enlightenment saw Italy more as a spectator as opposed to an active
participant within the ever changing affairs of Europe. Italy could not yet incorporate the growing
ideology of the Enlightenment due to the Roman Catholic Church that governed the land. However,
with the decline of that absolute ecclesiastical authority near the latter half of the eighteenth century,
Italy gradually delved into enlightenment thought, and slowly became part of the movement that was
dominating Europe. The continuance of scientific research ensued, which led to studies in history and
archaeological science. Recognition of social conditions throughout Italy influenced the study of
economics and socio political issues. These new philosophies proved to be the main concerns within
the intellectual community as the eighteenth century progressed. (Yawney 1,3 4)

After Knee Replacement Surgery
How Home Health Care Helps You After Knee Replacement Surgery
If you re going to have knee replacement surgery, you should expect to have trouble getting around
well enough to take care of yourself for several days after the procedure. While you ll be in the
hospital a few days, once you ve recovered from the actual surgery, you will be discharged to recover
in a nursing facility or at home. If you don t have family to help you, hiring home health care will
allow you to return home to your familiar surroundings to recuperate. Here why a home health care
service is beneficial.
Supervise Medications
You ll be in pain after your knee surgery, and you ll probably be sent home on pain medications to
keep you comfortable. If the medications make you groggy, you may develop irregular sleeping
patterns that interfere with taking other medications on schedule. If you need to take antibiotics or
medications for a condition such as diabetes or high blood pressure, you need to take the drugs on
time. A home health nurse or aide will make sure you take your medications on time. He or she can
also supervise your medications to make sure you take the right dosage since you may have fuzzy
thinking due to pain and narcotic medications.

The Dystopian Novel, By George Orwell, And Andrew Niccol...
War is peace, freedom is slavery, Ignorance is strength (Orwell 7) this is one of the very many slogans
that were used to control society in George Orwell s piece 1984. Dystopian literature is a futuristic
universe that is oppressive and uses bureaucratic, totalitarian, and/or technological control to control
society. In Orwell s Dystopian book 1984, Kurt Vonnegut, Jr s short story Harrison Bergeron , and
Andrew Niccol s film In time, there are many examples of a Dystopia is that contain a lot of
comparisons between the stories. Dystopian literature whether it be novel, film, or short story focuses
on similar characteristics and things. A similarity that these three dystopias have in common is the
time setting. All of these stories are set to be in a futuristic time, or at least a time that was the future
from them. For instance, Orwell s book 1984 was written in 1948 as it stated on crisesmagazine.com
George Orwell Wrote 1984 in 1948 , but since it wasn t 1984, or anywhere near, so at the time it was

that they are ahead of time when he writes The year was 2081 and everybody was finally equal

Equation 1. Yeast facilitated fermentation of glucose into ethanol and carbon dioxide
C6H12O6 (yeast) 2C2H5OH + 2CO2 (+ Energy) Glucose Ethanol Carbon Dioxide
The rate of fermentation in this investigation was represented by the amount of carbon dioxide
produced as a byproduct of fermentation in the given time.
To anaerobically break down glucose into ethanol and carbon dioxide, yeast will use the zymase
enzyme which catalyses the catabolic fermentation reaction according to the induced fit model. The
zymase enzyme will form weak bonds with it s specific complementary substrate (a glucose
molecule), inducing a conformational change in the shape of the enzyme and substrate. In a catabolic
reaction this stresses the substrate bonds of the substrate so that they break easily, allowing the
substrate to seperate into desired products; in this case ethanol and carbon dioxide. After the zymase
enzyme has facilitated the reaction the weak enzyme substrate bonds break and the enzyme can be
reused. This model of enzyme substrate binding reduces the activation energy required in the reaction,
allowing fermentation to occur quicker and more readily.
As the mass of yeast increases, the number of yeast cells and thus the quantity/concentration of
zymase enzyme increases. In solutions with a smaller

The Wire And Not Plato
It s all in the game. Though these words belong to the nefarious Omar Little of HBO s critically
acclaimed The Wire and not Plato, they nonetheless remain relevant. If anything, the game is akin to
Plato s allegory of the cave and the shadows that it casts. That being said, I will make the argument
that anyone who doesn t play by the rules of the game or tries to alter it, much like the prisoner who
sees the light and goes back to aid his fellow prisoners, will be rejected. The only means of retaining a
livelihood in the context of the Wire and its characters is to remain in the cave and entertain the idea
of the shadows being reality for just as the prisoners in the cave are disillusioned by the shadows they
perceive to be reality, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the process, he jeopardizes months worth of work Kima s detail had put into cracking down on the
elusive Barksdale crew since they see the raids coming from a mile away and decide to tie up loose
ends as a result, distancing themselves from criminal activity and killing anyone they perceive to be a
liability ( Clean Up Season 1, Ep.12). Burrells actions reflect on the department s inability to
recognize the form of the good in that they are stuck in the visible realm and have not undergone the
transition to the intelligible one (Plato 517b1 517c5). The poster boy for the Western District Way is
Thomas Herc Hauk a street level cop whose sole motivation in doing police work is getting promoted.
Unlike most of the detectives around him, Herc is brutish and has a gun ho approach to police work.
Fuck the paperwork. Collect bodies, split heads ( The Target Season 1, Ep. 1) is the motto he lives by.
True to the Western District Way, Herc is willing to play ball and walk the thin line between the cave
and its exit as a bureaucratic stooge. Unlike many of his fellow brothers in blue, he realizes being a
good cop will get him nowhere because although there may be those who see Plato s treasured light,
the ones who re capable of lining his pockets with money don t. It only follows that

Essay About Seaworld Train The Killer Whale And Dolphins
Future Me Rough Draft
Don t lie, you wonder how the people at SeaWorld train the killer whale and dolphins. Well, I can tell
you how, since I m one of those people. Well, kind of. I am a trainer, not at SeaWorld, but that s not
what I started as, what I d hoped I would be, or even what I wanted to be going through college. It just
so happened that I got offered a job so much better, I gave up on my original dream so I could be a
trainer. I wanted to be a biological oceanographer, big name, I know. I had this dream growing up that
I could be best friends with a killer whale, which basically, I had. Not the one in my dream, though.
Her name was Lorelei, and she could talk to me like a human could, only better. I told her all my
secrets, my goals in life that I would work so hard to achieve, but obviously having a whale as a best
friend didn t turn out. I was in love with the Free Willy movies, and I thought Jesse was cute, so I kept
watching, and before I knew it I wanted some sort of job that had to do with orcas. I didn t just
randomly become a dolphin trainer at birth, though. One fabulous October 9th, 2002 I decided I was
sick of my mom and wanted to see the world. Chaz and Gene, my parents, raised me among my, fairly
annoying, siblings. Zack and Vincent as my brothers, and my sister Alyssa. Despite all of them always
messing with me or being mad at me because I was a child and liked to be loud and play, they were
actually pretty cool. Soon after I was born, we moved to

Advantages Of Homeschooling
Every year, there is a gradual intake of debates on whether homeschooling is more effective than
public schooling. Since 2003, there has been a steady increase of 36% of students being homeschooled
in the United States, and a statistic of 1.5 million students being homeschooled in 2007 (Bergstrom 5).
As more and more students are being homeschooled, it is beginning to become a more effective way
of learning and lifestyle than going to public school. Despite the disadvantages people accuse about
homeschooling, it can actually improve the life of students by giving them a better advantage to a
social life, reducing the risk of being involved in alcohol or drug use, developing a higher standard of
maturity and morals that students of public schooling do not have, and having more success in
schoolwork and learning.
Throughout a child s life of public schooling, they have a vast variety of social interactions with other
students and their teachers, but despite what many peers believe about the interactions in
homeschooling, they too have the same and even more as those in public schooling. According to
Koehler, studies have shown that the, homeschooled population demonstrated above average of
overall social skills, (Koehler 4). Because homeschoolers do not get the same advantages as public
schooling, they gain a wide variety of socialization throughout experiences offered at church groups,
playing at parks, joining outside clubs or organizations, and tutoring groups. By

Understanding And Importance Of Following Orders
The purpose of this counselled essay is to explain my understanding and importance of following
orders. This essay will have several sections to explain different areas where following orders effects. .
I will cover the significance of following orders within the unit, prominence of following order within
the artillery world, results of failure to follow orders, and how following orders will help me in the
future. The importance of these procedures created by my superiors are apparent in a soldier s daily
life. Following Orders within the Unit To start this essay off I want to begin with the oath I took at the
beginning of my career. Considering this oath would be a revolving point in my paper I need to have it
as a basis. I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United
States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same;
and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers
appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. To follow
orders within the unit promotes morale, Esprit de corps, the completion of tasks and details that
promote the benefit of the unit as a whole, and transition of communication in the unit. When orders
are not being followed, it creates a doubt within the mind of not only the Noncommissioned Officer,
but the other core leaders of the soldier. The soldier himself or

College Sports Gambling
With all of the controversy of gambling in college sports, why is the issue still an issue? The answer is
money. There were actions taken towards this by
Congress, but the problem is that it was never completely abolished. Congress had made the mistake
of creating a way around it. It is now commonly referred to as the Las Vegas loophole. They outlawed
the betting nationwide with the exception of one state, one state that is the capital of gambling,
Nevada. This has caused few changes, with the exception of the ever growing revenue that it
generates. Another reason the legality still remains is one not frequently mentioned, but the question
of the ban being constitutional. But no matter what the law, is there ... Show more content on

People of all kinds are in agreeance that the impact of this law would hardly be worth the effort. John
Shelk, vice president of the American Gaming Association, also stated It s not like Congress is going
to pass a law that bans legal gambling, and students across the country will say, ‘Oh my God, I can t
gamble anymore because it s illegal. Sen. McCain, co author of last year s Senate bill, had countered
his opinion to ESPN.com by saying, I don t think we have to choose between enforcing existing laws
on illegal gambling and closing the loophole on legal gambling. McCain added, we can do both.
McCain and others claim that eliminating legalized gambling in Nevada would be an essential first
step on stopping the college sports gambling. Critics disagree.
They believe that the attempt to chip away at illegal sports gambling isn t a logical first step, at all.
The fact of the college sports gambling, is that there is too much publicity, popularity, and money
surrounding this particular gambling sport.
In the beginning there was a problem with popularity. From 1951 1974, there was a 10% excise tax
levied by the Federal Government on the amount of sports wagers. The tax made the business
unprofitable since the profit margin was generally 5%

The Life of Oprah Gail Winfrey Essay
The Life of Oprah Gail Winfrey Oprah Gail Winfrey was born January 29, 1954 on the family farm in
Kosciusko, Mississippi. Her dad, Vermon Winfrey, who was stationed as a solider at a local base; and
her mother, Vernita Lee, were both young at the time of Oprah s birth. Her parents never married.
Shortly after she was born her mother found a job, as a maid, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Oprah was
left in the care of her grandmother, Hattie Mae Lee. As a child Oprah never wasted a minute of her
young imaginative mind on something that seemed to be boring. Through her early years her only
friends were the farm animals. She gave them parts in the plays she made and included them in games.

At age six Oprah was sent to live with her mother in Milwaukee. They lived in one room of another
woman s house. Her mother worked long, tiring hours and Oprah was left with her cousins, and
neighbours. At night Oprah s mother was too tired to pay attention to her. Oprah didn t understand
this. It was then that she began to disobey and talk back to her mother. Her mother knew Oprah was
unhappy, and she was sent to live with her father in Nashville, Tennessee. Her father was now married
to Zelma, Oprah s stepmother. Oprah knew that she had to obey her father and stepmother. While
living in Nashville Oprah was forced to do pages of addition and subtraction questions each day. On
Sundays she went to church, where she attended Sunday school and did recitals. One day, Oprah s
mother called and told her that she was pregnant. She wanted Oprah to come back and live with her in
a house, not a room. So Oprah went back to live with her mother in Milwaukee. In Milwaukee Oprah
lived with her mother and half sister. While Oprah s mother worked long, hard hours, Oprah
entertained her little sister. Two years later her mother had a baby boy. Oprah had a stepbrother. It was
then that Oprah was saddened; she felt that her mother didn t give her as much attention as the other
children. Oprah fought with her stepbrother and sister. She began telling

The Automobile Industry Revisited
Vehicles have always been a sign of high class and pleasure and they have experienced a rich history.
Companies related to cars have always experienced the attention of the people because of new styles,
advancement and technology. Their icon or signs has always been desired for creativeness and
originality. They have always lured the rate devils using shiny, strong shades, print styles and pictures.
To add elegance, the organizations have limited themselves in using their titles in the signs. If you are

The Manifestations of Marxism in The God of Small Things
Arundhati Roy s novel The God of Small Things presents the reader with the realities of Marxism.
Roy gives the reader an impression of three possible manifestations of the ideology, rather than
presenting a biased reading for or against Marxism. Through Roy s novel the reader comes to
understand Marxism as it appears through Velutha, the oppressed worker, Chacko the Marxist in name
only, and Comrade Pillai, the corrupt politician. Comrade Pillai epitomizes the idea of a corrupt
politician. During his first scene in the novel, Roy describes him as walking through the world like a
chameleon. Never revealing himself, never appearing not to. Emerging through chaos unscathed. (Roy
15) Furthermore, Comrade Pillai champions himself as an ally of the oppressed and common people,
but it is in reality a façade. Comrade Pillai is in reality a champion only for his own interests. An
example of Comrade s Pillai s selfish corruption is the way that he watches the workers of Paradise
Pickles and Preserves: Comrade Pillai had begun to watch the goings on at Paradise Pickles with the
keenness of a substitute at a soccer match. To bring in a new labor union, however small, in what he
hoped to be his future constituency would be an excellent beginning for a journey to the Legislative
Assembly. (Roy 114) Roy uses the phrase keenness of a substitute at a soccer match to describe
Comrade Pillai s attitude toward the workers of Paradise Pickles and Preserves. This phrase seems to

Patriarchy In India
All over the world, 8th March is celebrated as International Women s Day. In fact, gender equality is
proclaimed as fundamental right by the United Nations Charter in 1945. However, the status of
women is not at par with that of men in India. Ages have come and go, but the plight of women is not
likely to change. From aeons, time has helplessly watched excesses done on women in the form of
discrimination, oppression, exploitation, degradation, and humiliation etc. gender based discrimination
represents the ugly face of the society. This is global issue with varying degrees and India is not an
exception to it, especially Haryana where it s a patriarchy society.
Patriarchy is social organization has been the dominant reality to define the nature of gender relations
in human society that rendered it male centric in most parts of the world since the dawn of human
civilization. Much has changed since the primitive times but the male dominated ethos still holds
sway. In spite of all the advances made in the field of woman emancipation, male hegemony is still the
dominant reality.1
Haryana is primarily an agrarian society and its towns too are like villages with modern facilities. In
male dominated social ethos, the quest for a male child is incessant while the female child is treated as
a curse. Haryana folklore crudely depicts female child as highly unwanted. The mindset is reflected in
the declining social status of women in Haryana.2

Gene s choices for the rest of the novel as well. The comprehension and understanding of guilt is

  • 2. Evaluation Of A Clinical Skills Essay This essay will discuss a clinical skill in which I have become competent in practicing. I will use a reflective model to discuss how I have achieved the necessary level of competence in my nurse training programme. The reflective model I have chosen to use is Gibbs model (Gibbs 1988). Gibbs model of reflection incorporates the following: description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion and an action plan (Gibbs 1988). The model will be applied to the essay to facilitate critical thought, relating theory to practice where the model allows. Discussion will include the knowledge underpinning practice and the evidence base for the clinical skill. A conclusion to the essay will then be given which will discuss my reflection skills, acknowledge my competence and show my personal and professional development. The clinical skill I have chosen to reflect on within this essay is the administration of Intramuscular (IM) injections. I have chosen this as within my first clinical placement this was a widely used method of drug administration and I became involved in the process of IM injections. I therefore researched the topic of IM injections and my knowledge within this area developed. The first stage of Gibbs (1988) model of reflection requires a description of events. I was asked to administer a drug to a patient via IM injection. I had observed this clinical skill on a variety of occasions but have not had the chance to administer any IM injection under supervision. On ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Embryonic stem cells can be retrieve from the foetus, amniotic fluid, the placenta, and the umbilical cord blood and in the early embryo. Adult stem cells can be retrieved from many other parts of the body once a child has been born and through to adulthood. Those parts of the body are skin, hair follicles, bone marrow and blood, brain and spinal cord, the lining of the nose, gut, lung, joint fluid, muscle, fat, menstrual blood and etc. Embryonic stem cells are pluripotent, which mean they can develop into any of the 220 different body cells while adult stem cells only be able to develop into muscle, bone marrow and brain cells. • 4. The Theory Of Oedipus Complex Introduction The term Oedipal complex was initially used by Sigmund Freud as he developed a theory to explain the stages of psychosexual stages of development in an attempt to explain or describe the boy child feelings of attraction to the mother and anger and envy towards the father (Fear, 2005). Basically, the boy may feel like he is competing with the father for the belonging and possession of the mother. The boy sees the father as a threat for her affections, desires and attentions. In terms of the psychoanalytic theory, Oedipus complex may refer to the desire of a child to sexual engagement with a parent of opposite sex, specifically the boy s amatory concentration, attention and attraction to the mother. Freud argues that the complexity of Oedipus plays an imperative function in the stage of Phallic where a kid undergoes psychosexual growth. Freud also trusts that if the stage completes successfully and the child manages to involve himself or herself with a parent of opposite gender ultimately, this involvement leads to the development of a sexual identity that is mature. As this theory explains, the boy child admires to seize or possess the mother fully and if possible out do the father, who this child always sees as a great enemy of the mother s love. The Freud Oedipus complex usually happens or takes place in the phallic stage of the children between the ages of three to five years, who at this age undergoes psychosexual development. This stage in the real sense ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Prepaid Wireless Job Working in computer field was my dream at a young age. I was always interested working for prepaid wireless services such as telecommunication companies and power energy companies. During my senior year in high school, I got a part time job at Metro PCS in Clarkston. The store was close to my school and my house. Now I work at Sarman Wireless, a prepaid retail store in Decatur. Both jobs are very similar, but I prefer to work with Sarman Wireless s boss, Hassan than Metro PCS s boss, Salah due of ways of showing trust, control and treatment of the employees. Trust is everything in working environment. Hassan shows me that he trusts me by giving me what he had worked so hard, the keys of the store and the bank account number. I deposit the cash money to the bank sometimes without his knowledge. His honesty and caring tell me that he believed in me. He made me the leader when he is not around. On the hand, Salah had a trust issue. He didn t trust any of his employees including myself. He would tell me to watch my coworkers if they were stealing. His supervision taught me a valuable lesson. He makes me to work on the job I love. I only work for four days, but each day there is new challenge and new staff to learn. Special Populations High School Counseling Running Head: SPECIAL POPULATIONS Special Populations: High School Counseling Kean University CED5963 Adolescence is a period of dramatic and revolutionary change. In western cultures it is the time of life, either most reviled, depicted as posing the greatest threat to the established order of things, or most celebrated and romanticized, in particular within the sphere of popular culture, for its creative and challenging energies. Since the environment among a school is not that of a clinic or an outside counseling practice, certain planning needs to occur while forming groups. Rather than client s willingly signing up or seeking out a group, a survey would be completed by faculty and staff to identify potential group members. Students would also participate in the survey process, giving perception of their needs. These surveys would be a form of data collection necessary in addressing needs that could otherwise be unknown. Following this, a meeting with potential group members would take place individually. The students would be informed about the group and what they may gain from it. Expectations, participation and confidentially would also be discussed. From these meetings, the counselor would then be able to determine the student s interest level and seriousness of need or participation. • 10. Traffic Jam In Los Angeles Traffic Jam in Los Angeles Traffic jams are a case where there are a large number of vehicles close together and they are moving very slow. Traffic jams have become an issue to many of the cities around the world, some being known across the world as the traffic jam mysteries, for example, Mumbai. However, as the time continues other cities have become part of the traffic jam and they are facing the traffic as a major issue. Although some people support the traffic jam in Los Angeles, there are many people believe that traffic jam is a global issue, and it causes many problems such as wasting time, and air pollution especially in Los Angeles. Traffic jams are feared and hate by many due to the challenges like wasting time. While traveling from one place to the other one always wishes to reach the destination early enough, but in the case of the traffic jams this usually changes. A person is often late to work, class or any other place a person was wishing to be. In some of the case, people have lost their jobs since they could not make it to work on time due to the traffic jam. It is important to identify that traffic jam in Los Angeles is more of the increase in the number of vehicles (Bento et al. 44). It has been identified that in the days when the fuel prices are low there tends to be a large number of vehicles in town unlike when the prices are high. The increase of the motor vehicles and the jam has led to people engaging into other activities while driving. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most of the PSO algorithms suffer from the problem of premature convergence in the early stages of the search and hence are unable to locate the global optimum. The idea here is to exercise proper control over the global and local exploration of the swarm during the optimization process. The PSO_TVAC based approach for practical non convex ELD problem is tested on four test systems having different sizes and non linearities. Vo Ngoc Dieu [16], proposed an augmented Lagrange Hopfield network (ALHN) for real power dispatch on large scale power systems. The proposed ALHN is a continuous Hopfield network with its energy function based on augmented Lagrange function. For this combination, the ALHN method can easily deal with large scale problems with nonlinear constraints. The proposed ALHN has been tested on systems from 40 units to 240 units, IEEE 118 bus and IEEE 300 bus systems, and the obtained results have been compared to those from other methods. The test results have shown that the ALHN method can obtain better solutions than the com¬pared methods in a very fast manner. Therefore, the proposed ALHN could be favorable for implementation on the real power dispatch problems for large scale systems. The proposed ALHN has been tested on differ¬ent systems with large number of generating units and buses for two cases neglecting power loss and including power loss in transmission system. Serhat ... • 12. Yardbird Analysis Yardbird, a short story that was released in 2012 directed by Micheal Spiccia which is his only public work. This short film is a very interesting piece that has small parts of horror entwined into a supernatural/fantasy theme that is set in what can be perceived as reality. There are many different themes that can be found within this short, like with power comes responsibility, but the one I find most interesting is You can t fix everything . You can t fix everything was first said by her fatherly figure when Ruby is going to bed while look at what seems to be an old photo of some kind, you can speculate that it was something to do with her mother or maybe even some old relatives however there is no hard evidence of what the photo contains, all we can believe is that it has to do with her directly. The reason we know that it has to do with her directly is because she is a young girl who is living alone with her fatherly figure gets told by her fatherly figure that you can t fix everything , and he says this with a sour tone, as if he is affected and he is just trying to console himself. Going on the idea that the photo was an old photo of Ruby and her family which was broken for any reason, the line you can t fix everything fits perfectly because of what the dialogue and the prop could be conveying which is that nobody has the power to fix everything. In this scene, the director is further developing the idea of, when some things break they can never be fixed In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He was well known for all his amazing products such as apple 1, apple 2, mackintosh, etc. He also purchased an animation company from George Lucas, which later became Pixar Animation Studios. He invested money into the company out of his own pocket. The studio went on to produce popular movies. Jobs had many people help him build what he has today especially with the help of Steve Wozniak (Steve, n.d.). Together they changed the computer industry. Jobs was very successful but like everyone else he had to start from nothing and his company made billions when he was just 21. He has an amazing story to tell about his life, career, and how he left a big impact in the computer industry. Early Life Steven Paul Jobs was born in San Francisco, California on February 24, 1955, His birth parents were named Joanne Schieble and Abdulfattan Jandali. Joanne Schieble worked as a speech therapist and Abdulfattan Jandali worked as a professor in political science. Abdulfattan Jandali was from Syria. A week after Steve was born he was given up for adoption. He then was adopted by a couple named Clara and Paul Jobs. Clara worked as an accountant and Paul was a Coast Guard veteran and machinist. • 14. The Evolution Of Information Management Systems The evolution of technology and the importance of information management systems have led to the evolution of new experts in the industry known as Data Scientists who work on data science. Despite the hype and confusion surrounding data science, the need for people who can interpret data to help organizations make informed business decisions is very real. Data scientists look at the data sets in nature or complex systems and extract information from it. In today s age businesses have started to gain tons of data and science already knew how to deal with such large volumes trough physics, applied mathematics and computer science. Traditionally any information management system has been defined as the collection and management of information from one or more sources and information dissemination to relevant stakeholders. However, the message that is missing in this definition is that the quality of information system determines the outcome of the information even before data collection . A poor information system would drive employees to take decisions and form opinions based on assumptions rather than substance. There would be no synergy of thoughts and thus would lead to conflicting views of managers and leaders. Hence, it is imperative for information management system to be in line with the business strategy. On the contrary, he thinks the girls are attracted to him, so he keeps on observing them. However, that s not the only reason Sammy is interested in them. • 16. The Green Bird, By Carlo Gozzi The eighteenth century marked a period of renewal within Italy. This transition saw the acceptance of new philosophies that were rampant throughout most of Europe (Yawney 2). The Age of Enlightenment, as it has come to be known, brought upon changes within the realms of economic, social, and religious affairs. However, amidst any form of radical change come those who do not attest to it. In his fable, The Green Bird, Venetian dramatist Carlo Gozzi incorporates subject matter that attacks not only the realism seen in Carlo Goldoni s theatre but also the thought of modern Enlightenment ideology. The first half of the Age of Enlightenment saw Italy more as a spectator as opposed to an active participant within the ever changing affairs of Europe. Italy could not yet incorporate the growing ideology of the Enlightenment due to the Roman Catholic Church that governed the land. However, with the decline of that absolute ecclesiastical authority near the latter half of the eighteenth century, Italy gradually delved into enlightenment thought, and slowly became part of the movement that was dominating Europe. The continuance of scientific research ensued, which led to studies in history and archaeological science. Recognition of social conditions throughout Italy influenced the study of economics and socio political issues. These new philosophies proved to be the main concerns within the intellectual community as the eighteenth century progressed. (Yawney 1,3 4) Italy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To anaerobically break down glucose into ethanol and carbon dioxide, yeast will use the zymase enzyme which catalyses the catabolic fermentation reaction according to the induced fit model. The zymase enzyme will form weak bonds with it s specific complementary substrate (a glucose molecule), inducing a conformational change in the shape of the enzyme and substrate. In a catabolic reaction this stresses the substrate bonds of the substrate so that they break easily, allowing the substrate to seperate into desired products; in this case ethanol and carbon dioxide. Since 2003, there has been a steady increase of 36% of students being homeschooled in the United States, and a statistic of 1.5 million students being homeschooled in 2007 (Bergstrom 5). As more and more students are being homeschooled, it is beginning to become a more effective way of learning and lifestyle than going to public school. Despite the disadvantages people accuse about homeschooling, it can actually improve the life of students by giving them a better advantage to a social life, reducing the risk of being involved in alcohol or drug use, developing a higher standard of maturity and morals that students of public schooling do not have, and having more success in schoolwork and learning. Throughout a child s life of public schooling, they have a vast variety of social interactions with other students and their teachers, but despite what many peers believe about the interactions in homeschooling, they too have the same and even more as those in public schooling. According to Koehler, studies have shown that the, homeschooled population demonstrated above average of overall social skills, (Koehler 4).
