In the novel, Gifted Hands , the character Ben, the author, faced many challenges. One of them being
the leaving of his father when he was 8 years old. The other one, his horrible temper, the ending of the

the final and hardest one, the separation of the twins. There were many other challenges Ben went

America has five social classes. The Upper Class is made up of wealth, and in most cases is inherited
wealth that has been passed down from generation to generation. Individuals have little control over
this class as many are born into the circumstance. The Upper Class participate in politics and
economic environments. Not all Upper Class is old money, there are also those individuals that have
made money as entrepreneurs. The next social class is the Upper Middle Class. These individuals are
at the top of management level in organizations, educated and have families. Many Upper Middle
class are two income families. (Tischler, pg 182) Education plays a key role in the success of the
Upper Middle class so there is a level of control an individual

The Uglie Critical Analysis
According to Merriam Webster dictionary, the word realization is defined as, an act of becoming fully
aware of something as a fact. Being able to realize the ultimate desires and goals in life is apart of
each of the texts. In the book The Uglies by Scott Westerfeld, the story shows characters realizing
objectives through point of view when Tally Youngblood is faced with the truth about getting an
operation to become pretty. Likewise, in The Third and Final Continent by Jhumpa Lahiri, the
message of realization is developed through symbolism of the narrator s experience in a new world.
The theme as shown in The Art of Resilience by Hara Estroff Marano is expressed through conflict.
The use of point of view, symbolism and conflict create the theme, a person must become self aware
to realize their goals, in the texts The Uglies by Scott Westerfeld, The Third and Final Continent by
Jhumpa Lahiri, and The Art of Resilience by Hara Estroff Marano. In The Uglies, the lesson of
becoming self aware is communicated through the main character, Tally Youngblood s, point of view.
At first, Tally Youngblood longs to receive an operation to turn herself pretty after being viewed as
ugly most of her life. After she was denied the surgery because of complications with a friend, she

Life was a prominent subject in nineteenth century literature. Poems, books, and even everyday
conversations contemplated the topic. From exploring its meaning, its purpose, and its impact,
individuals were obsessed with it. Two such pundits were Philip Freneau and Henry Wadsworth
Longfellow. They accepted the challenge and broached the subject of life in their poetry. Their
perspectives, however, were anything but concurrent. By focusing on Freneau s The Wild Honey
Suckle and Longfellow s A Psalm of Life the authors contrasting views become exceptionally clear.
While one valued humility and acknowledgment of human fragility, the other sought to spark ambition
and enliven a sense of dutiful perseverance. Paying close attention to the time frame in which each
author wrote is also significant in identifying the reason behind such differing perspectives. Not only
does the era play a part, but also each writer s personal beliefs and values. Freneau was extremely
realistic and literal; Longfellow was optimistic and indicative. Taking an in depth look at each author
respectively and analyzing their contrasting opinions as well as their reasoning facilitates a deeper

The effects caused by the earthquakes are devastating. It causes losses of human life and has effects on

fierce thunderstorm in Moonlight s third movement, Banjo is full of cheerful and light hearted

Staccato, one of the most remarkable characteristics in this piece, brings energy to the entire music. In
the subject line of the A section (this piece has a five part A B A B A form), the melody of the left hand
purely consists of staccatos whose short, bouncing feature opens up a dynamic theme., This dynamic
is further expressed as the piece enters B section, since the high pitched notes have more
distinguishable sounds and a more rapid speed. This movement then culminates at five major chords
whose high pitch and strong, sharp volume produce an extraordinarily penetrating sound. All these
movements delineates a playful scene of rain dancing at every corner of the world: on a roof, a stream,

The Plan For Public Health And Safety
The next component of the General Plan is the plan for public health and safety which addresses
issues of: Geology and Seismicity, Flooding and Drainage, Noise, Air Installation Land Use

seismicity is important to the Lancaster area at large due to its location being less than ten miles south

possible property damage. A similar issue is that of flooding and drainage. Because Lancaster exists
within a valley and is relatively flat, the area is prone to flooding. One of the current propositions is to

Overall, Plato is saying that the action being holy and the action being divinely approved does not
have to be equal, however if they are equivalent, then they don t have to acquire an equal meaning.
Therefore, Euthyphro cannot state that what is holy and was approved by the gods does not mean the
same thing. In like manner, his argument pushes the concept of morality. One might say that what is
good is good because God says it s good. This raises the question asked by many philosophers does
God love the good because it is good, or is it good because God loves it? The simple answer is God
loves goodness because he is good therefore he commands goodness. All what is considered righteous
to God may be found in the Bible. The word of the Bible reveals what God expects from his people. It
reveals what is good in his eyes and what is considered evil. The words of the Bible portray the path
of which should be followed. It shows the path of righteousness where one may follow to be like God.
Man was created in the image of God; therefore, man was created to acquire his character. For those
reasons, God loves what is good because it is good and he is good. There are different standards for
judging the morality of something. An action is considered holy, moral or good because God loves it.

1. Sedimentary rocks are made from different pieces of rocks and sediments. This happened through
the process of erosion and weathering. Every now and then animals get buried under sediments and
formed with the rock. As the tissues decay, the bone stay preserved in the rock because of the carbon
that release from the corpse. Sedimentary rocks can tell scientists about the fossil s habitat by the size
and formation of the rock. For example, one direction ripple marks indicate that the rock formed under
a river while ripple marks that move back and forth indicate the rock is formed in an ocean. If a fossil
is found in a rock that has one direction ripple marks it is most likely that the animal might have once

The study of Cognitive theories has many different aspects that have been debated many years ago.
Developmental psychologists try to explain cognitive development approaches which describe the
process of human s thought. One of the developmental psychologist who studied on the area of
cognitive was Jean Piaget. Jean Piaget a Swiss psychologist was the first developmental researcher
who has extensive research on cognitive development. In addition, the revolution of Jean Piaget s
cognitive theory has changed the development psychology forever. In fact, although this theory is one
of the most influential theories that have had a major impact on child s cognitive development, many
developmental psychologist has been criticized it as well(Miller,2007). Therefore, the limitations of
this theory made the developmental psychologists thinking of information processing theory might
complete Piaget s Theory(Miller,2007). Information processing theory is another theory that was
engaged in the era of cognitive development. It is possible to better understand Piaget theory and

Oedipus the King Greek Drama played an important civic role in ancient Greece. This is evident in the
tragic drama, Oedipus the King by Sophocles. The people of ancient Greece religiously believed in
prophecies and the fact that the Gods controlled their destiny. If something were to be wrong with
their lands then they would think that it was because something angered the gods, and in return would
