Music And Its Effect On Our Lives
Section 2: To many people, music is a significant part to their daily lives and its role varies depending
on the individual. I personally use music as a form of escape from reality and a tool to help me focus
in certain situations. Other use music as an entertainer, an energizer, a coping mechanism or even as a
stimulant. Due to this, music is able to play a developmental role in creating one s identity. In 2007,
Tomas Chamorro Premuzic and Adrian Furnham, studied how 21st century listeners use music in their
daily lives and how an individual s personality affects their listening behaviors. After conducting a
survey in which a total of 314 people took, they came to the conclusion that personality and cognitive
ability partly determine the way in which we experience music (Chamorro Premuzic, Furnham, 175).
From their survey, they found out that many people use music for impression management,
influencing other people s perceptions towards oneself, as well as emotional regulation and coping.
Some interesting findings from their research were: extroverts use music as background stimulation,
people with lower IQ s tend to use music in more emotional rather than intellectual ways and prefer
upbeat and conventional music, while on the other hand, people with higher IQ s prefer more complex
and reflective music. The results also showed that an individual s emotional stability is connected to
their uses of music. Less stable individuals proved to be more sensitive to the

The Amendment Of The Voting Rights Act
Thus, when faced with arbitrary legislative action or inaction, judicial intervention is not only
appropriate but essential to protect citizens constitutional rights. Furthermore, when the Court resolves
constitutional questions that, for whatever reasons, elected representatives, cannot, its rulings can
guide lower courts, legislators, and citizens concerning the scope of individual rights and
permissibility of governmental conduct. When the Court applies the standing doctrine regardless of
legislative inertia or entrenchment, some citizens are left with rights but no remedies and a
government that is unaccountable and unresponsive to its citizens. This was precisely the point that
Justice Scalia made in Shelby County, and most likely why the Court refused to defer to Congress
despite overwhelming support for re authorization of the Voting Rights Act. Noting that they
[Senators] are going to lose votes if they do not reenact the Voting Rights Act, and suggesting that the
Act would be reenacted in perpetuity unless ... unless a court can say it does not comport with the
Constitution, Justice Scalia recognized the necessity for judicial intervention in this situation. The
same principle should be applied when politically powerless citizens seek to challenge the
constitutionality of law and redress through the democratic process is nothing but an exercise in
futility. To deny such citizens standing where they assert a legally cognizable harm, are within the

Analysis Of La Belle Dame Sans Merci

Comparative Analysis of La Belle Dame Sans Merci and The Lovesong of J. Alfred Prufrock It comes
as no surprise that love poems are not a rare commodity. Whether they re about a lovesick man pining
for his soul mate or a general reflection about how one perceives love, these poems offer an analysis
of one of the most innate desires of our human nature. Despite inevitable differences in writing style
and point of view, there can be times where love poems employ similar strategies to tackle such an
analysis. John Keats La Belle Dame Sans Merci and T. S. Eliot s The Lovesong of J. Alfred Prufrock
are no exception to this occurrence. Both poems use two different and ... Show more content on

13, 25 26). Because of how the knight describes the meadow, it can be inferred that it is springtime.
This is a significant contrast to the bleak, wintry hillside that he described previously. With the
contrast in this setting comes a contrast in how the knight characterizes love. In the meadow, the
knight meets a beautiful woman with long hair and wild eyes. The knight describes her as having an
almost fairy like presence (Ln. 14 16). He makes her a garland for her head and bracelets from the
flowers in the meadow (Ln. 17 20). The woman eventually takes the knight back to her elfin grot , or,
cave, where he kisses her. By establishing a different setting where the knight appears to experience
love, the second setting in La Belle Dame Sans Merci serves to resolve the knight s alienation and
abandonment from love. T.S. Eliot s The Lovesong of J. Alfred Prufrock similarly offers a second
setting where Prufrock tries to recall love to resolve his alienation from it. The dirty, urban, insidious
streets laced with an ominous yellow fog suggest that Prufrock is alienated from love. He fears not
being able to find a woman that will be able to look past his physical inadequacies. However, Prufrock
attempts to resolve his alienation by shifting the setting from the insidious streets of a city to the
beach. The mermaids

How Did Pope John Paul II Decide To Become A Priest
The scene I found most significant in the Pope John Paul II movie was when Karol, aka Pope John
Paul II s name before he became a Pope, decided to become a priest. The reason being is because it
was actually a huge change in his life. Deciding to become a priest affected many people in different
ways, but specifically himself is what I m talking here. There was so many things going on his life/ he
had so much potential for many other things. But he ultimately chose to be a priest. Karol s dad was a
very religious person, thus making Karol very religious also. World War 2 was happening at this time
and Karol says that we shouldn t use violence in any way just because the Nazis are using violence
against them. So he prayed a few times. Karol

Bipolar And Manic Depressive Disorder
Introduction
Bipolar or Manic Depressive Disorder is a complex and challenging disorder. Bipolar is an area of
psychological illness that continues to provide perplex questions for psychologist. Bipolar is becoming
a more commonly diagnosed illness, in part due to readily available resources and education of the
public. There are many well known famous individuals who quietly, and not so quietly, suffered from
this mental illness such as Carrie Fisher, best known for her role as Princess Leia in the original Star
Wars films. The list also includes, artist Vincent Van Gogh, the late English novelist Virginia Woolf as
well as Catherine Zeta Jones. Many of these individuals cope with similar stressors to Nick Traina
whose illness is described in depth through his Mother s eyes as written in His Bright Light. The case
study of Nick Traina and his battle with bipolar disorder is connected full circle with the curriculum of
our Abnormal Psychology Course and proven to be a powerful story of the impact bipolar disorder has
on the lives of those suffering.

The Consequences Of Police Discretion In The Police
Police are what is known as street level bureaucrats. This basically means that police are civil servants
working on the street level in direct contact with the general public enforcing the laws of the local,
state and federal law. Police officers work alone or with a partner patrolling the streets within their
beat, therefor they are given a lot of discretion with their title. Discretionary judgment is necessary for
a well functioning police department, but it must be demonstrated properly in order to have positive
outcomes. A police officers ability to use discretion properly can help build the relationship between
law enforcement and the community, but if officers abuse their discretionary judgment then it can lead
to decisional influences / biases (Dempsey pg. 144, 2018). A few solutions have been implemented in
order to counteract / remove these discretionary negatives. Police officers have always possessed the
powers to exercise discretionary judgment ever since they have had the ability to enforce the law.
Discretion within the police force is defined as the officers freedom to make a choice based on the
situation (Young, 2011). However, it has come to light in recent decades that many officers abuse their
powers of discretion, especially with their use of force. This is especially a problem today because
police officers are being monitored every second as departments start incorporating dash cameras and
body cameras. With new video surveillance brings forward the question of whether or not police are
given too much freedom when it comes to discretionary judgment. One of the biggest reasons police
are permitted to demonstrate discretionary judgment is because when it is applied correctly it builds a
positive relationship between law enforcement and the community. The idea is that if officers are too
strict on the law then there would be too many arrest and it wouldn t always allow the officer to act in
a just manner. Discretionary judgment is necessary for law enforcement to function properly because
no two situations are the exact same therefor officers must apply discretion as needed to the situation
they are experiencing. The debate over police discretion typically comes up after

Treatment Of Schizophrenia And Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Some of the common psychiatric disorders that are experienced by patients include depression,
schizophrenia and generalized anxiety disorder. The psychiatric disorders may be caused by both
genetic and environmental factors. All these disorders of the mind greatly affect the quality of life of
the sufferers. Depression may affect any individual at any stage of life and the symptoms include lack
of interest and generalized low moods. The treatment for depression includes psychotherapy,
pharmacotherapy and an unpopular method; electroconvulsive therapy when the disease is extensive
(Watson, 2005). The complications in the treatment of the disease include headaches and
disorientation. Schizophrenia is disease of the mind that makes it arduous for an individual to tell
between the real and what is unreal. The symptoms of schizophrenia include obscured thinking
depression and hallucinations among others. The treatment of schizophrenia ranges from
pharmacotherapy to psychosocial interventions such as skills training, family therapy and cognitive
remediation among others. Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), in which the sufferer is constantly
worried about several things, is characterized with incapability to let go of trivial matters that concern
an individual. The sufferers are unable of thinking clearly as their mind is clouded with varied
thoughts of worry. GAD has similar symptoms to panic disorder and other anxiety disorders. The

What Would Happen If Foot Binding In China Had Not Been...
What would have happened if foot binding in China had not been outlawed in 1912? Since perhaps
around the tenth or eleventh century (the exact date is unknown), foot binding was a very common
practice in China to modify the shape of women s feet. The process began at a young age; the mothers
and aunts would apply tight binding to the feet of their young girls. This practice became very popular
for all social classes during the Song Dynasty. This was a symbol of elegance and beauty in Chinese
culture. However, this was not only a symbol of elegance and beauty. During this time when arranged
marriages were very common, the size of girls feet determined how desirable of a bride they would be.
For example, the most desirable foot size for a bride would be three inches, which was often known as
a golden lotus . A four inch silver lotus was respected. Feet that were five inches or longer were
known as iron feet ; marriages for girls with iron feet were much more unlikely. In other words, foot
binding became a symbol of status, even amongst the elite. But, this practice caused many health
concerns. Toe nails would often in grow, which causes infection and injury. Most of the time, blood
circulation to the toes would be cut off. As a result, injuries would be less likely to heal. Girls would
also spend many years with broken ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Men of higher class would be chosen to marry women with golden lotus feet. I believe that foot
binding was the beginning to changing ideologies in the Chinese population. If foot binding had not
been banned, perhaps many Chinese customs would be still in effect today. Arranged marriages would
continue to be a lot more common, or even a law or something that all men and women had to obey to.
Women and men would not be allowed to marry the one they love. Young girls would continue to
endure the pain and injuries resulting from this cruel

Essay on Samurais and Honorable Suicide
Death, its such an unexpected thing that happens to everyone at some point in their life. Some people

you may never know why they did it. Just left with loose ends that will never be tied up. For others its
a glorious thing, they accept it as a way of life or something that has to be done to save them or their

This might seem absolutely outrageous to most people but in Japan this was a respected decision that
Kenzo made. When the village found out kenzo had died they closed off his shop and covered his
body. There was a ceremony held in his honor to remember him as the great man he was. Kenzo was
respected for the decision to take his life, they understood why he did what he did and didn t question
a thing about it. The japanese are not like most people when it comes to suicide, they accept and
understand the actions of that person. Larissa MacFarquhar gives a great example of how the Japanese
view suicide in their culture:
The idea there is that one can take responsibility for the situation of your life by committing suicide.
If, say, you are the wage earner of a family and you are in unrecoverable debt, you can commit
suicide, and the thought is that that is an honorable way out, that rather than evading your
responsibility, you ve taken responsibility. You ve admitted it is my fault, and I m going to punish
myself for it. (Larissa MacFarquhar)
This quote gives a very good description of how the japanese think when it comes to committing
suicide. She explains that they think if they re in a stuck position like being in debt that you can
commit suicide and you will be seen as taking the honorable way out
Honor has always been a big part of the japanese culture. Especially back in the days of the

Gauis Petronius The Satyricon
The Satyricon by Gauis Petronius Arbiter (Petronius) (d. 66 CE) is in various ways an extreme
exaggerated narrative of Roman dining practices in his time period. The section regarding the Dinner
with Trimalchio illustrates this notion through his character Encolpius first hand experience in
attending this event. The satirical portrayal of self made millionaire , Trimalchio goes to an extreme
where he invited guest to his abode for a dinner to honor him, and to show off his grand status.
Petronius satirical novel stems around social manners within the world of classical antiquity, where it
seems his intent is to amuse his audience, but in that amusement also demean the aristocracy with his
light wit. The author shows his audience, the lengths to which Trimalchio goes to portray his idea of
grandeur. Despite Trimalchio s portrayal of over the top wealth and grandeur, his excessiveness is not

The Indian Removal Act Of 1830
The Indian Removal Act of 1830 was a law passed by President Andrew Jackson that provided the
funds for the removal of the Indian tribes found in South. These tribes were the Cherokee, Chickasaw,
Choctaw, Creek, and Seminole. Slave states, following the lead of Missouri who in the 1820s forced
its Indian population to leave, saw the opportunity to expand their industry in the fielding of cotton by
converting Indian soil into slave soil. That along with the finding of gold and simply the desire for
land in the Southeast was enough reason for them to begin rooting for the expulsion of the tribes. They
believed that because the tribes were uncivilized they have no right to the land and were not using it
properly.
Despite the fact that former president Thomas Jefferson believed that civilized tribes could be
integrated into the United States population, this law was still widely accepted among southern states.
It was also completely ignored that the tribes were already acting in a way that would be considered
civilized. The Cherokee had its own government, laws, and a constitution much like the United States.
In response to the law, the Cherokee went to Congress for help to protect their rights, which the
treaties they had with the federal government made certain. There was a case Cherokee Nation v.
Georgia in 1831, but the Chief Justice Marshall made the false claim that Indians were nomads and
had no need for their land. He also said that the Indians were like wards

What Color Attracts The Most
What Color Attracts the Human Eye the Most?
Introduction
The human eye can see 7,000,000 colors, but which color attracts it the most? Figuring out what color
attracts the most attention could be really beneficial in many ways. Research shows that when you are
buying something, the visual factor is almost 93%. That means that choosing a color that attracts a lot
of attention is crucial.
This experiment will show what color attracts the human eye the most. Before talking about what
color attracts a lot of attention, how do humans see color? To see color, first the light hits an object.
Then the object absorbs some of the light. Then, it reflects the rest of it. The wavelengths of the
reflected light determine what you see.
Warm colors attract the most attention. Some warm colors are red, yellow, and orange. Yellow is the
easiest color to see. Yellow is used for warning signs because it is easy to see. Yellow is more visible
because more light is reflected on bright colors. This causes excessive stimulation of the eye. ... Show

The purpose of doing this project is to help owners of companies to use the color that attracts the most
attention on their sign to help promote their store. If I figure out what color attracts the human eye it
could really benefit these companies. This could be a quick and easy way to attract customers. It could
interest people by making them look at the sign, which will make them curious and want to know
more about it. My hypothesis is that if I test what color attracts the human eye the most, then yellow
will be the color. I believe this because it is a very bright color and attracts more. The independent
variable of this experiment is the human participating. The dependent variable is what color is seen
first. The constant procedure in this experiment is how I ask the people what color they see first. I will

Prion Protein
Prion Protein (PRNP) is encoded by a gene, which contains a highly unstable region of five tandem
octapeptide repeats. An octapeptide repeat is a fragment from the protein which is composed of eight
amino acids joined by peptide bonds, repeatedly copied along the amino acid chain. Within PRNP;
these are tandem meaning that the octapeptide sequences are in such an arrangement that they are
lined up one behind the other (Mastrianni, 2009).
Prion diseases or transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs) are fatal neurodegenerative
disorders (Jeong and Kim, 2014). These are diseases which affect the nervous system, in particular the
brain across many species. They are transmitted via prions. Prions are essentially proteins which like

This polymorphism encodes either for methionine or valine and is a major genetic risk factor for prion
diseases. Codon 219 alongside codon 127 can contain further resistance to Kuru.(Mead et al., 2011)
Kuru is a TSE; only found in tribal regions of Papua New Guinea (PNG) where endocannibalism
occurs. (This is the practice of eating the flesh from decreased humans from the same community).
One would have assumed that these adaptations for Kuru protection would be local to PNG, however
they are widespread across the globe, perhaps indicating that endocannibalism may have occurred
amongst all populations in the world histoically or alternatively it may be a normal site of variation
amgonst the populations which only become significant when patients are exposed to abnormal prion
proteins determining protection from the infection.
The ancestral allele is Adenine (A), the alleles may either be adenine or Guanine (G). It must always

Therefore, the resulting combinations of alleles can be homozygous (two identical alleles i.e. AA or
GG) or heterozygous (two different alleles i.e.

Gun Control Laws Are Not Enforceable Essay
On June twelfth, this year the world woke up to the tragic news of a mass shooting in Orlando,
Florida. A twenty three year old man, Omar Mateen, opened fire at a popular gay nightclub in
downtown Orlando known as Pulse. Acting alone Mateen used an AR 15 assault rifle and a handgun.
By the time law enforcement could stop him fifty people were killed and fifty others were injured.
This incident is dubbed the nation s deadliest mass shooting in history. Shocked from this event and
others the nation called upon its leaders to make a change in gun control law. Gun control has become
the main topic for debate among lawmakers and citizens across the country due to the deadly attacks
within the last decade. Many people debate issues of the Second Amendment and a variety of other
subtopics related to gun control and gun rights. Gun control laws are not enforceable because there are
too many variations in laws and opinions across the country. Complications in the interpretation of the
Second Amendment, other federal laws, differences between state laws and level of restrictiveness all
add to the confusion and complications of gun control in the United States. The issue of gun control is
complex within itself because each state has their own laws and set of restrictions. But to understand
gun control one must understand the foundation for gun laws which comes from the Second
Amendment. The Amendment states A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free

and Range combination. Did you know there is no function to mark a well as Sold? My current work
around is adding z to the first part of well name. As the wells usually sort by name, adding the z to the
beginning pushes the sold wells to end of the list.
As for the Acquisitions, the tracts had to be tied and add the location information needed to be entered.
If the Notes field was on the upload, the adding of the location information would have been done at
the time of upload, saving me many hours. Instead of having to input the information in Notes field;
actually, having some of the legal description as fields in the Acquisition tab would be wonderful. At
least, having the County and State as a field in the Acquisition area would be helpful.
Deeds called for adding the files and the lands covered, in the Notes field, for each and every deed
associated with OMR and OEP. Again, having at least the County State for where the deed is recorded
would be a great help. As it stands, the full legal description for every deed is being entered in the
Notes field. Which is quite time consuming.

Conflict Between Xerxes And Herodotus
Amidst the diversity of ideas and concepts that Herodotus develops throughout his History, the notion
that highly different political structures do exist and may eventually clash is a prominent one. In
accord with Herodotus manner of incidentally placing the essential cores of his arguments and
observations in microcosmic episodes scattered across the body of his narrative, the exchange between
Xerxes and Demaratus in passages 101 105 of Book 7 serves as a gateway into exploring and
discussing the ways in which the Greeks and the Persians differ, both politically and socially. Through
the contrast between the Greeks and the Persians that the conversation depicts, Herodotus advances
his narrative wide delineation of the disparity between the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly, the dialogue is part of a series of implicit and explicit references in the History to the radically
different ways of living and governance that are exhibited by different societies. Throughout their
conversation, Xerxes and Demaratus juxtaposing assertions fuel Herodotus ongoing discussion of
what sets the Greeks and the Persians apart. This contrast, in turn, reveals the disparity between those
governed by the rule of law and those governed by an autocratic emperor. In the History the Persian
monarchy, as the prime example of unity under a centralized authority figure, is consistently portrayed
as resting on principles of fear, subservient conformity, and blind loyalty. An example of this can be
seen when Herodotus notes: All the rest of the Persians held their tongues and did not venture to
declare a judgment opposite to that which was in discussion (7.10). This oft mentioned inability of the
Persians to freely express their opinions and thoughts without fear of punishment goes into suggesting
the foundations of the Persian autocracy. The compulsion of lash that Xerxes proudly favors during
the dialogue becomes a potent symbol of monarchy in History: ...and many of the barbarians fell; for
behind their regiments their captains with whips in their hands flogged on every man of them, pressing

America is a nation that focuses on entertainment and obsesses with what we see on screen, so much

teaching and learning must now be made entertaining.
Postman titles the tenth chapter of his book Teaching as an Amusing Activity to introduce his views on
the impact television has made on education. Postman s belief was that the popularity of television
pushed education and learning to be more entertaining, and now American children are unable to learn
properly in a classroom. Even television that is meant to provide an educational purpose fails to do so
in the way that a traditional classroom does.
In the opening of the tenth chapter of his book, Postman mentions Sesame Street and its immediate
popularity among children, parents, and educators. The program seemingly encouraged children to
learn by making learning fun, but then raised the issue that children wouldn t want to learn unless the
information was presented to them in a more entertaining way. Postman made the argument that
Sesame Street undermines what the traditional idea of schooling represents (143) and so its viewers
were trained to love television, not learning. Further, Postman does not even believe that Sesame

Aztec, Inca And Aztec Civilizations
Before the legendary empires of the Romans and the Greeks, there were other prospering civilizations
thriving in parts of Central America and parts of Mexico. The Mayan, Incan and Aztec civilizations
were a few of the greatest ancient civilizations in history, but they each had distinct characteristics that
helped them prosper into the great empires that they became. Each had their own fascinating ways of
food production, governing system and culture. The Mayans were established first out of the three and
settled in modern day Mexico. Then came the Aztecs and they also settled in modern day Mexico and
the Incas were the last of the three and they settled in the Andes Mountains and what is now Peru. All
three had very successful and long lasting civilizations until they were taken out by a natural cause or
foreign invaders. Even though the Mayan, Aztecs and Incan empires had their distinct characteristics
of what made them great, only the Incan empire would be able to succeed in today s world because of
their unique governing system and their advancements in military and infrastructure. All three of these
great civilizations would have a chance to succeed in the modern world but the Incan empire would be
the most fit out of these three pre colonial civilizations. At the apex of their reign, the Incas ruled over
the largest civilization of the three. Their empire spanned from modern day Ecuador all the way to
chile and included about sixteen million inhabitants. Although they

The Components Elements Of Education
Education comes in different philosophies and is a crucial element in every civilization. When a
country is oppressed, one of the first things the oppressor tries to take over and get control is their
education. The reason is because with education, one can give or withhold any kind of information
and shape the nation in the way they see appropriate. With the exception of oppressed individuals,
education teaches their society who they are, what is the nature of their environment, and how does
the context exist in the in the environment? Through control, the government is able to hold power
over the component elements of education. The component elements of education include the teacher,
learner, curriculum, learning environment, methodology, desired results, the teacher student
relationship, and the teacher community relationship. Three philosophies of pedagogy that could be
divided into the component elements of education are the classical traditional/conservative
philosophy, liberal progressive, and critical pedagogy. Although a few aspects within the elements are
similar, they are very different in their approach of teaching philosophies. The classical
traditional/conservative philosophy, liberal progressive, and critical pedagogy compare within the
curriculum, but their ideologies of teacher, learner, and desired results are drastically different. Each
philosophy has an overall goal for their society and people through the component elements of
education.

Misguided Views In Gustave Flaubert s Madame Bovary
Selfishness and Misguided Views in Madame Bovary
The majority of Gustave Flaubert s 1857 classic novel, Madame Bovary , tells of the marriage and two
adulterous affairs of one lady, Madame Emma Bovary. Emma, believing she is in love, agrees to
marry the widower doctor who heals her father s broken leg. This doctor, Charles Bovary, Jr., is
completely in love with Emma. However, Emma finds she must have been mistaken in her love, for
the happiness that should have followed this love (44) has not come. Emma is misguided in her beliefs
on the meaning of love and happiness. It is also apparent that she considers herself more important
than anyone connected with her, including her husband, her daughter, and her two lovers. ... Show

As she is dancing, Emma observes the superiority of the wealthy compared to herself. Their clothes,
better made, seemed of finer cloth . . .. They had the complexion of wealth, that clear complexion that
is heightened by the pallor of porcelain, the shimmer of satin . . . (66). This night helps Emma erase
from her memory the fact that she is the daughter of a less than wealthy man; she now believes she is
too grand to be of such breeding. Only a day after the ball, Emma is more unhappy than before, as she
longs for the greatness that the wealthy possess. Madame Bovary denies herself happiness by refusing
to enjoy her life with Charles, and wanting more for herself than what she has.
Charles, though his practice is doing well, decides to move to Yonville. He wants only to please
Emma, and feels the move will be beneficial to her health; she is pregnant. Emma s selfishness even
prevents her from experiencing the happiness of motherhood. Charles considers the pregnancy another
bond of the flesh establishing itself, and . . . a continued sentiment of a more complex union (115 and

Salmonella Outbreak
Introduction.
Background
This essay follows on to the findings from the report into the outbreak of a gastro intestinal illness
among attendants of the Street Spice Festival that took place between 28 February and 2 March 2013
in Newcastle. Due to the nature and scale of the outbreak, a multi agency coordination team swung in
place to oversee the entire operation. Like any food poising on a large scale, public health agencies
take control of such incidences as public health is paramount and as well to limit the spread of the
epidemic. The mechanics of the food preparations and the additives were called into question that led

Prevalence:
The organism was responsible for 30% of food borne outbreaks in UK in 2009.
Salmonella is known to survive well in foods and on surfaces and survives well under a minimum of
7⁰C. Salmonella is capable of survival under refrigeration for long periods. Poultry and its products
has traditionally been the route of salmonella infection in humans in the UK. Outbreaks of salmonella
of 60% to 80% are usually termed as sporadic cases; this could be down to the fact that domestic
animals widely carry salmonella bacteria.
Food animal such as poultry, pigs, cattle but also pets like cats and dogs carry salmonella. The entire
food chain can be infected through animal feed and up to final food outlets (WHO). However,
outbreaks are very often caused by contaminated food. Ready to eat products are increasingly
becoming sources of salmonella infection just as we witnessed at the Street Spice Carnival. Heating

We Are What We Eat Analysis
The importance of food to identity formation is certainly not unique to the immigrant experience.
Whether a part of invisible majority culture or deviant minority culture, food environments influence
our constructions of credos and categories. Generally speaking, eating preferences and behaviors are
part of familial and societal legacies. We may prepare the signature dishes of deceased relatives to
mark holidays or guard the secret ingredients of a family recipe. In other instances, particular spices
may evoke strong emotions or memories in us. Even in disordered eating behaviors, we tend to reflect
social values and constraints.145

Incidentally, food is one of the habits that immigrants in the US often maintain to some degree, even
as many other cultural practices slowly decline. 147 Several factors support this phenomenon,
including food s ability to: provide the immigrants with a daily portion of home, communicate cultural
values and social economies, as well as aid in the process of economic mobility. Food literature
expresses this legacy of migration, reflecting these same beliefs and their consequences.
For this reason, the identity discourse on food and survival resembles the lived experience of early
Arab immigrants.148 Like many other immigrant populations, they formed ethnic enclaves, in which
they continued many of their previous cultural practices, including those that involved food.
As Naff chronicles in her detailed history, Becoming American: The Early Arab Immigrant

An investigation on the use of ink and charcoal as a medium, as well as movement over time, in the
Time Series by Patricia March.
The works of Patricia March are predominantly charcoal works, with smaller aspects of ink, whilst
portraying insight of character, as well as how the body moves over a period of time. March uses the
perception of a figure moving, portraying the figure on one picture plane; but moving, as if this were
over a period of time. Figures appear walking or picking up an object and this is portrayed as one
character becoming three. In each different movement the figure is in a different position, as if moving
like in a real life situation. This reinforces the name of her series, Time, as it literally perceives a
figure or a few figures and their movements over a period of time. March studied a master in
cinematography. She was interested in movement and time, so since, she tried to apply her vision

Differences Between Men and Women

Men and women have always been unequal, and it has always been an issue of women wanting to be
equal, and men wanting to be superior. Maybe in other countries across the globe they are more equal,
but in America they are not as equal and women want them to be. Women are portrayed as the ones

Conditional Probability For Statisticians
Conditional Probability
Huafeng Zhang
I. Introduction
Everyone in a way use conditional probability even if they don t realize the science behind it. Non
statisticians use conditional probability without recognizing it mostly when they make decisions or
judgments, for example they will be less likely to lend money to people who borrowed his money but
haven t returned the money back. Statisticians think of conditional probability in both logical and
quantitative way.
II. Conditional Probability for Statisticians
For statisticians, conditional probability is everywhere. They will strictly define the events before
computing the conditional probability and use the properties or Bayes theorem to find the conditional
probability.
Statisticians understand that conditional probability derives from the concept of probability.
Probability is a number between zero and one, which measures the likelihood that an event will occur.
The bigger the probability is, the more likely this event is going to happen. The conditional probability
of event A happens given that event B occurs can be written as P(A|B)=(P(A∩B))/(P(B)) where
P(A∩B) is the probability that both events A and B happen, P(B) is the probability that event B
occurs. For example,in order to test if the athletes actually use steroid given the test results are
positive, assuming we know the probability that the test results are positive is 0.6 and the probability
that the test results are positive and the athletes use steroid

Cultural identity refers to the feeling belonging to a certain culture that is attributed to the upbringing

In most case, identity is shaped by culture. Since culture is a set of ideals life practices, routines and
attitudes set up by a certain community hence culture plays a major role in shaping the identity of an
individual. An individual s character and attributes can be because of their background. This is due to
the set up that one has grown up (Dumas 19). People tend to learn more about their culture, and as
they grow up it becomes part of them. They embrace the culture s beliefs and tend to do things
following the set routines. The aspect of following the set routine and beliefs play a significant part in
shaping the identity of an individual. The identity of an individual is evident in a person from the

The Rudd Government
Recent Commonwealth Parliaments have confirmed that the ability of governments to implement their
mandates is more a function of the will of the Parliament than the will of the people.
In recent years, the ability for governments to implement their mandates has shifted from being a
function of the people s will to that of parliament s. A mandate is the authority provided by voters to a
successful political party to pursue its policies in parliament. Governments can justify their dominance
of the lower house by arguing the will of the people is expressed through elections. The government s

Firstly, a government s claim to a majoritarian mandate can reduce Australian politics to an electoral

in the political process is limited by the government s claim to an all powerful mandate. Furthermore,
in recent parliaments, the will of the government has been frustrated by the parliament. However, it is
because of this fact it can be argued parliament produces better legislation due to poor legislation

The function of the gel is so that the DNA strands can separate out. The electrophoresis process is
necessary because, due to DNA having a negative charge naturally it will be attracted to substances

facing towards the positive end of the electrophoresis apparatus with the DNA samples on the opposite
end closest to the negative end, the DNA strands with gradually move down the gel and separate based

Comparing Obama s Narrative And Myth
Narrative and myth are central in political rhetoric. It is essential for a politician to place themselves
as narrators (story tellers) and to be identified as a representation of this story, because their primary
goal is to persuade as many people as possible to choose them as their leader. Two of the most
effective types of narrative are ethnic and civic and were central to Barak Obama s vision of a unified
America, during his campaign. By telling his personal story, which were ethnically and racially neutral
in tone, Obama manages to steer clear of the racial ethos as well as presenting his family as advocates
of the American political principles (or political ethos) of nationalism. His is a narrative of inclusion.
His personal story reflects the political myth of the American Creed (one in which America is united
by its political beliefs, regardless of religion or ethnicity) and puts forward widely held symbolic
perspectives of American nationalism, representing one s identity and loyalty to his/her nation.

Bad Habits Developed Over Time
A habit, by definition, is an act which is repeated by a person without the individual being aware that
they are continuously displaying or committing that certain behavior. There are many bad habits a
person can develop over time. Some of these could include having a drug habit, an eating disorder, or
many other undesirable behaviors. These negative habits can all be broken and could lead to positive
outcomes if they were to be broken successfully. Many of the habits considered to be bad require a
person to make specific changes in their life in order to conquer said habit. There are a plethora of
different steps and/or tasks that can be used to assist a person with the daunting task of breaking an
unwanted habit.
One of the first steps that must be completed by a person wanting to end a habit they believe to be
detrimental is to acknowledge the action and to be aware of their situation. In some instances, this
requires the person in question to admit that they exhibit problematic behavior because of the habit
they have. The act of admitting that their actions lead them to repeat negative acts or thoughts because
of their habit is essential to eliminating it. With this in mind, an individual must be aware of an issue
before it can be resolved. Knowing the habit is present and affecting your life in a negative fashion is a
very important step within this process.

Water Consumption Report Student Reference (2137178F) Abstract Although a large majority of
planet Earth s surface comprises water, only a small percentage of it is in fact suitable for use. The
human population is growing rapidly and the demand for fresh water is steadily increasing. The aim of
this investigation is to measure personal water consumption over a period of three weeks and compare
the collected data with the average water consumption of individuals in countries at both ends of the
economic spectrum. The results of personal consumption show that over a one week period, an
average of 713.17 litres of water were consumed (discounting embedded water), which breaks down
to a daily average of 101.88 litres. Although this is lower than the average daily consumption of 150
litres for an individual in the UK , measures can be nevertheless be taken to reduce fresh water
consumption, such as placing bricks inside the toilet cistern, using the washing machine less often,

Healing Ministry Reflection Paper
3. HEALING AND ITS INSIGHTS
3.1 Introduction
Jesus willingness to cross boundaries, to touch, cleanse and eat with people brings life and hope to the
one who had none. The common people flock to Jesus, believing that he can help them. He never
turned aside from the call of suffering. Unfailing readiness to help the afflicted was his mission. The
story in our Text inspires us to reflect about the need of humanity to be healed and to heal. It carries
the good news for every aspect of our life for different occasions, different contexts and different
times. It is not enough that the hemorrhaging woman should be healed; she needs to be truly
integrated back into the society. It is not enough to give life alone but to help to sustain the life. It
bestows a very strong need of God s healing touch to each individual s belief, attitudes and values to
transform and reshape one s faith and idea about following Jesus in order to become a healing
presence in the life of others. It also can make an immense change in the Church. And all the more in
the present context the concept of health and wholeness needs to be highlighted in different levels.
Therefore, I would like to bring out this concept in the present scenario with special reference to my
limited experience in the healing ministry.
3.2 Individual Level
When we speak of the spiritual life or life of wholeness in our individual level, we don t speak of
experiences that are unrelated to our bodies. God s Spirit touches

How Did Elie Wiesel Survive After The Holocaust
Holocaust Experiences
Elie Wiesel experienced 2 years of events that nothing will be able to amount to. After the deportation
of his village, he survived through 4 concentration camps in a year. The camps were Auschwitz, Buna,
Buchenwald, and Gleiwitz. His father died in Buchenwald in January 1945 and Wiesel had to survive
through the rest of the Holocaust with no motivation. After the Holocaust, he spent a couple of years
in a French orphanage.
Becoming an Author
Elie Wiesel is currently the author of 36 books which all deal with Judaism, the Holocaust, and the
responsibility of all people to fight hatred, racism, and genocide. After the Holocaust, Wiesel became
involved in journalistic work for a French newspaper called L arche . Francois

The Theme Of Forbidden Love And Conflicts In Shakespeare s...
Around 30 B.C, Cleopatra, the Egyptian queen, and Roman general and politician, Mark Anthony
were having an affair together. Frowned upon, the two ancient lovers kept their love hidden and
private. After Cleopatra and possibly her lover, Mark Anthony, had a war thrown on them, they
committed a double suicide protecting their love. Their suicides lead Rome and Egypt to become
allies and no longer enemies. The power of their forbidden love was an inspiration for Shakespeare s
theme. In his play, Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare s theme is forbidden love can lead to consequences.
Shakespeare uses plot and conflict to support this theme throughout the play. Conflicts in Romeo and
Juliet, and the plot support Shakespeare s theme of a forbidden love can lead to consequences. For
example, Romeo and Juliet fall in love at a Capulet party before finding out each others families (act
one, scene five). Once finding out they are children of rivalries, their love becomes forbidden or not
allowed. Knowing about each other s families somehow made the love get stronger. Also, after
challenging Romeo, Tybalt approaches Romeo ( act three, scene one). Tybalt approaches Romeo in a
rude manner, but Romeo continues to stay clam and avoid any conflict because he is secretly married
to Juliet. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The love between Romeo and Juliet was so powerful and passionate, that they killed themselves
because they didn t want to live in a world without each other, or in a world, married to someone else.
Shakespeare finishes off the theme with; The Capulet and Montagues rivalry ended (act five, scene
three). The tragic death of the two lovers led to the families to realize their children sacrificed
themselves because their rivalry made their love forbidden. The two families stop their wrong doings
and grieved together for the

use and broken link building is one method of creating backlinks to your site. In this guide, we ll
explain what broken link building is all about and how it could be an effective strategy for your
business. We ll also provide you a simply six step guide to creating a successful broken link building
strategy. Broken link building in a nutshell You can understand broken link building by analysing the

Let s say your business works in the flower industry. You might discover that an article about mother s
day flowers on a popular blog includes broken links. Perhaps the links lead to a 404 page. But the link,
with its keywords, is a perfect fit for your business. You can contact the owner of the blog and inform
them about the broken link. Naturally, the blog won t benefit having articles with broken links and
readers will quickly find them annoying and uninformative. While you inform the owner about the
broken link, you can also ask him or her to replace the link with a link to your website. Since your link
is a perfect fit, the owner doesn t need to change the article around, but can simply remove the non
operational link with a working one. Why should you consider broken link building? As mentioned
above, broken link building is one of SEO strategies businesses could use. The practice has become
more popular, driven by the many benefits its offer. Firstly, broken link building works because the
Internet is full of non operational links. HowStuffWorks explained on its article on the subject, how
the links on its site can become broken as quickly as few months. The reasons behind the cause of
broken link vary, but the disruption and annoyance of encountering a broken link remains the same.
Essentially, the practice of broken link building isn t just about boosting your business. It is about
making the Internet a

The Role Of Objective Structured Clinical Examination
Introduction Assessment plays important role in medical education and training of doctors.
Assessment methods have evolved over the last decade from written tests towards a holistic system of
evaluation (Howley, 2004). New methods of assessment tools have emerged with emphasis based on
real world testing. Medical education and assessment has shifted towards competency based training
(PMETB, 2008). OSCE has been widely used as an assessment tool worldwide in both undergraduate
and postgraduate exams including medicine and allied health specialities (Patricio M, 2013). In this
assignment I have reviewed the role of Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) as an
assessment tool in the MRCS exam as an MRCS examiner in relation to the literature. Background
Millers pyramid of educational objectives (Miller 1990) and Bloom s cognitive taxonomy (Bloom,
1956) formed the pillar of medical education in the 1990 s. Miller (1990) introduced his pyramid of
educational objectives consisting of four levels: Lowest level of pyramid is knowledge (Knows),
ascending up is competence (knows how), performance (shows how), action (does) . Knows
represents the basic facts, knows how to apply knowledge, shows how demonstration of skills and
does competent real life practice. The four level of the pyramid reflects the level of knowledge and
competence on which all the assessment methods of today are based on thus constituting the basement
framework of education and assessment. The

  • 2. Music And Its Effect On Our Lives Section 2: To many people, music is a significant part to their daily lives and its role varies depending on the individual. I personally use music as a form of escape from reality and a tool to help me focus in certain situations. Other use music as an entertainer, an energizer, a coping mechanism or even as a stimulant. Due to this, music is able to play a developmental role in creating one s identity. In 2007, Tomas Chamorro Premuzic and Adrian Furnham, studied how 21st century listeners use music in their daily lives and how an individual s personality affects their listening behaviors. After conducting a survey in which a total of 314 people took, they came to the conclusion that personality and cognitive ability partly determine the way in which we experience music (Chamorro Premuzic, Furnham, 175). From their survey, they found out that many people use music for impression management, influencing other people s perceptions towards oneself, as well as emotional regulation and coping. Some interesting findings from their research were: extroverts use music as background stimulation, people with lower IQ s tend to use music in more emotional rather than intellectual ways and prefer upbeat and conventional music, while on the other hand, people with higher IQ s prefer more complex and reflective music. The results also showed that an individual s emotional stability is connected to their uses of music. Less stable individuals proved to be more sensitive to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Amendment Of The Voting Rights Act Thus, when faced with arbitrary legislative action or inaction, judicial intervention is not only appropriate but essential to protect citizens constitutional rights. Furthermore, when the Court resolves constitutional questions that, for whatever reasons, elected representatives, cannot, its rulings can guide lower courts, legislators, and citizens concerning the scope of individual rights and permissibility of governmental conduct. When the Court applies the standing doctrine regardless of legislative inertia or entrenchment, some citizens are left with rights but no remedies and a government that is unaccountable and unresponsive to its citizens. This was precisely the point that Justice Scalia made in Shelby County, and most likely why the Court refused to defer to Congress despite overwhelming support for re authorization of the Voting Rights Act. Noting that they [Senators] are going to lose votes if they do not reenact the Voting Rights Act, and suggesting that the Act would be reenacted in perpetuity unless ... unless a court can say it does not comport with the Constitution, Justice Scalia recognized the necessity for judicial intervention in this situation. • 4. Analysis Of La Belle Dame Sans Merci Michelle Kfoury Professor Butterworth ENG 201 4/30/2013 Comparative Analysis of La Belle Dame Sans Merci and The Lovesong of J. Alfred Prufrock It comes as no surprise that love poems are not a rare commodity. Whether they re about a lovesick man pining for his soul mate or a general reflection about how one perceives love, these poems offer an analysis of one of the most innate desires of our human nature. Despite inevitable differences in writing style and point of view, there can be times where love poems employ similar strategies to tackle such an analysis. John Keats La Belle Dame Sans Merci and T. S. Eliot s The Lovesong of J. Alfred Prufrock are no exception to this occurrence. Both poems use two different and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 13, 25 26). Because of how the knight describes the meadow, it can be inferred that it is springtime. This is a significant contrast to the bleak, wintry hillside that he described previously. With the contrast in this setting comes a contrast in how the knight characterizes love. In the meadow, the knight meets a beautiful woman with long hair and wild eyes. The knight describes her as having an almost fairy like presence (Ln. 14 16). He makes her a garland for her head and bracelets from the flowers in the meadow (Ln. 17 20). The woman eventually takes the knight back to her elfin grot , or, cave, where he kisses her. By establishing a different setting where the knight appears to experience love, the second setting in La Belle Dame Sans Merci serves to resolve the knight s alienation and abandonment from love. T.S. Eliot s The Lovesong of J. Alfred Prufrock similarly offers a second setting where Prufrock tries to recall love to resolve his alienation from it. The dirty, urban, insidious streets laced with an ominous yellow fog suggest that Prufrock is alienated from love. He fears not being able to find a woman that will be able to look past his physical inadequacies. However, Prufrock attempts to resolve his alienation by shifting the setting from the insidious streets of a city to the beach. The mermaids ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Consequences Of Police Discretion In The Police Police are what is known as street level bureaucrats. This basically means that police are civil servants working on the street level in direct contact with the general public enforcing the laws of the local, state and federal law. Police officers work alone or with a partner patrolling the streets within their beat, therefor they are given a lot of discretion with their title. Discretionary judgment is necessary for a well functioning police department, but it must be demonstrated properly in order to have positive outcomes. A police officers ability to use discretion properly can help build the relationship between law enforcement and the community, but if officers abuse their discretionary judgment then it can lead to decisional influences / biases (Dempsey pg. 144, 2018). A few solutions have been implemented in order to counteract / remove these discretionary negatives. Police officers have always possessed the powers to exercise discretionary judgment ever since they have had the ability to enforce the law. Discretion within the police force is defined as the officers freedom to make a choice based on the situation (Young, 2011). However, it has come to light in recent decades that many officers abuse their powers of discretion, especially with their use of force. This is especially a problem today because police officers are being monitored every second as departments start incorporating dash cameras and body cameras. With new video surveillance brings forward the question of whether or not police are given too much freedom when it comes to discretionary judgment. One of the biggest reasons police are permitted to demonstrate discretionary judgment is because when it is applied correctly it builds a positive relationship between law enforcement and the community. The idea is that if officers are too strict on the law then there would be too many arrest and it wouldn t always allow the officer to act in a just manner. Discretionary judgment is necessary for law enforcement to function properly because no two situations are the exact same therefor officers must apply discretion as needed to the situation they are experiencing. The debate over police discretion typically comes up after ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since perhaps around the tenth or eleventh century (the exact date is unknown), foot binding was a very common practice in China to modify the shape of women s feet. The process began at a young age; the mothers and aunts would apply tight binding to the feet of their young girls. This practice became very popular for all social classes during the Song Dynasty. This was a symbol of elegance and beauty in Chinese culture. However, this was not only a symbol of elegance and beauty. During this time when arranged marriages were very common, the size of girls feet determined how desirable of a bride they would be. For example, the most desirable foot size for a bride would be three inches, which was often known as a golden lotus . A four inch silver lotus was respected. Feet that were five inches or longer were known as iron feet ; marriages for girls with iron feet were much more unlikely. In other words, foot binding became a symbol of status, even amongst the elite. But, this practice caused many health concerns. Toe nails would often in grow, which causes infection and injury. • 15. The Indian Removal Act Of 1830 The Indian Removal Act of 1830 was a law passed by President Andrew Jackson that provided the funds for the removal of the Indian tribes found in South. These tribes were the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek, and Seminole. Slave states, following the lead of Missouri who in the 1820s forced its Indian population to leave, saw the opportunity to expand their industry in the fielding of cotton by converting Indian soil into slave soil. That along with the finding of gold and simply the desire for land in the Southeast was enough reason for them to begin rooting for the expulsion of the tribes. They believed that because the tribes were uncivilized they have no right to the land and were not using it properly. Despite the fact that former president Thomas Jefferson believed that civilized tribes could be integrated into the United States population, this law was still widely accepted among southern states. It was also completely ignored that the tribes were already acting in a way that would be considered civilized. The Cherokee had its own government, laws, and a constitution much like the United States. In response to the law, the Cherokee went to Congress for help to protect their rights, which the treaties they had with the federal government made certain. There was a case Cherokee Nation v. That means that choosing a color that attracts a lot of attention is crucial. This experiment will show what color attracts the human eye the most. Before talking about what color attracts a lot of attention, how do humans see color? To see color, first the light hits an object. Then the object absorbs some of the light. Then, it reflects the rest of it. The wavelengths of the reflected light determine what you see. Warm colors attract the most attention. Some warm colors are red, yellow, and orange. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Firstly, the dialogue is part of a series of implicit and explicit references in the History to the radically different ways of living and governance that are exhibited by different societies. Throughout their conversation, Xerxes and Demaratus juxtaposing assertions fuel Herodotus ongoing discussion of what sets the Greeks and the Persians apart. This contrast, in turn, reveals the disparity between those governed by the rule of law and those governed by an autocratic emperor. In the History the Persian monarchy, as the prime example of unity under a centralized authority figure, is consistently portrayed as resting on principles of fear, subservient conformity, and blind loyalty. An example of this can be seen when Herodotus notes: All the rest of the Persians held their tongues and did not venture to declare a judgment opposite to that which was in discussion (7.10). This oft mentioned inability of the Persians to freely express their opinions and thoughts without fear of punishment goes into suggesting the foundations of the Persian autocracy. Amusing Ourselves To Death Chapter Summary America is a nation that focuses on entertainment and obsesses with what we see on screen, so much so that it has shaped our modern form of discourse. In his book, Amusing Ourselves to Death, Neil Postman discusses the way that television has shaped the American culture. He makes the argument that television has now crept its way into the education system, therefore enforcing the idea that teaching and learning must now be made entertaining. Postman titles the tenth chapter of his book Teaching as an Amusing Activity to introduce his views on the impact television has made on education. Postman s belief was that the popularity of television pushed education and learning to be more entertaining, and now American children are unable to learn properly in a classroom. Even television that is meant to provide an educational purpose fails to do so in the way that a traditional classroom does. In the opening of the tenth chapter of his book, Postman mentions Sesame Street and its immediate popularity among children, parents, and educators. The program seemingly encouraged children to learn by making learning fun, but then raised the issue that children wouldn t want to learn unless the information was presented to them in a more entertaining way. Postman made the argument that Sesame Street undermines what the traditional idea of schooling represents (143) and so its viewers were trained to love television, not learning. When a country is oppressed, one of the first things the oppressor tries to take over and get control is their education. The reason is because with education, one can give or withhold any kind of information and shape the nation in the way they see appropriate. With the exception of oppressed individuals, education teaches their society who they are, what is the nature of their environment, and how does the context exist in the in the environment? Through control, the government is able to hold power over the component elements of education. The component elements of education include the teacher, learner, curriculum, learning environment, methodology, desired results, the teacher student relationship, and the teacher community relationship. Emma, believing she is in love, agrees to marry the widower doctor who heals her father s broken leg. This doctor, Charles Bovary, Jr., is completely in love with Emma. However, Emma finds she must have been mistaken in her love, for the happiness that should have followed this love (44) has not come. This night helps Emma erase from her memory the fact that she is the daughter of a less than wealthy man; she now believes she is too grand to be of such breeding. Only a day after the ball, Emma is more unhappy than before, as she longs for the greatness that the wealthy possess. Madame Bovary denies herself happiness by refusing to enjoy her life with Charles, and wanting more for herself than what she has. Charles, though his practice is doing well, decides to move to Yonville. He wants only to please Emma, and feels the move will be beneficial to her health; she is pregnant. Emma s selfishness even prevents her from experiencing the happiness of motherhood. Whether a part of invisible majority culture or deviant minority culture, food environments influence our constructions of credos and categories. Generally speaking, eating preferences and behaviors are part of familial and societal legacies. We may prepare the signature dishes of deceased relatives to mark holidays or guard the secret ingredients of a family recipe. Food literature expresses this legacy of migration, reflecting these same beliefs and their consequences. For this reason, the identity discourse on food and survival resembles the lived experience of early Arab immigrants.148 Like many other immigrant populations, they formed ethnic enclaves, in which they continued many of their previous cultural practices, including those that involved food. The bigger the probability is, the more likely this event is going to happen. The conditional probability of event A happens given that event B occurs can be written as P(A|B)=(P(A∩B))/(P(B)) where P(A∩B) is the probability that both events A and B happen, P(B) is the probability that event B occurs.
