Damn Yankees In Professional Sports
Damn Yankees Baseball fans everywhere either love or hate those Damn Yankees. I for one, love
the greatest franchise in professional sports! So, why do fans despise or admire this powerhouse
club? I would like to explore a few areas that could help explain this love hate scenario. According
to Burns, Those who wear pinstripes and affiliated with the New York Yankees
organization are not
only expected to win, they are required to represent themselves in the utmost professional manner,
both on and off the field (45). Yankee management demands that the entire organization to promote
a positive image of the club which can be viewed as professional and humble or, arrogant and
overconfident. Perceptions of the franchise not only varies between

treatments and insulin treatments were tested and developed thanks to animal research. With
animal research, researchers were able to perform cardiac bypass surgery, perform organ
transplants, and place stints through the femoral artery instead of open heart surgery. Under proper
conditions, animal research can accomplish many things. Animal research can help humans
understand diseases, create vaccines, create antibiotics perform surgeries to extend life, treat cancer,

The TransContinental Railroad Essay
The TransContinental Railroad
If any act symbolized the taming of the Northwest frontier, it was the driving of the final spike to
complete the nation s first transcontinental railroad. 1 The first railroad west of the Mississippi
River was opened on December 23, 1852. Five miles long, the track ran from St. Louis to
Cheltanham, Missouri. Twenty five years prior, there were no railroads in the United States; twenty
five years later, railroads joined the east and west coasts from New York to San Francisco.2 No
other single factor contributed more the commercial and social development of the Pacific
Northwest than the arrival of the railroad. For the first time in history, people could get to the west
coast in a matter of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each railroad was to receive a 200 foot wide right of way and sections of public lands to help
finance construction. The Northern Pacific s charter originally provided ten alternate sections per
mile in states through which it passed and 20 sections per mile in territories. If sufficient lands
were not available within this grant, other sections could be selected as in lieu from a secondary
zone which reached back from the tracks another 20 miles.8 These land grants contributed greatly to
commercial development and growth of towns along the track routes. A fourth railroad was the
Southern Pacific, which was routed from New Orleans to Los Angeles. The Great Northern
Railway was the fifth transcontinental line. The Great Northern, along with the Northern Pacific,
had the greatest impact on developing the northwest. However, unlike the Northern Pacific, it was
not a land grand railroad. It did not obtain federal loans to help in its construction as did the Union

Gabriel Garcia Marquez s The Autumn Of The Patriarch
The Autumn of the Patriarch is a novel by Colombian author Gabriel Garcia Marquez, first
published in 1975. Divided into six sections, each one retells a similar story of a Caribbean
dictator and his hold on power until the inevitable revolution comes for him. Marquez has
described the book as A poem on the solitude of power , and paints the lead character as an
eternal dictator doomed to the same terrible cycle of power and fall over and over again. Although
different circumstances bring him to power each time, he and the dictator he replaces always
become one and the same. Marquez based the fictional dictator on many real world figures,
including Colombian dictator Gustavo Rojas Pinillaand Spain s Generalissimo Francisco Franco,

He s convinced that the High Command is working against him, and hires a torturer and assassin
from the former regime. This man, Jose Ignacio Saenz de la Barra, is unleashed and kills many
people. Their skulls are sent to the General, which he at first mistakes for coconuts. However,
Jose soon gets out of control, and his brutality threatens the General s regime. He turns to a
populist approach, styling himself as a General of the people. A mob rises up and Jose is killed
in the riots. The General surrounds himself with new civilian advisors, and by now is very old.
He only rarely involves himself with government affairs now, and his regime leaves him alone to
play sexual games with whoever is brought to the palace, including schoolgirls. The country is
nearly broke, and he s forced to sell their holdings in the Caribbean Sea. At the end of his life, he
becomes increasingly irrelevant, only noted when he commits a random crime against a random
person. When he dies, a mob invades the palace, and the country celebrates the ending of the era of
the dictator.
Gabriel Garcia Marquez was a Colombian novelist, short story writer, screenwriter and journalist,
considered one of the greatest Spanish language writers of all time. The winner of the 1972
Neustadt International Prize for Literature and the 1982 Nobel Prize in Literature, he was the
author of six novels, five novellas, seven short story collections, and eight works of nonfiction, as

Depression in Children and a Cognitive Behavioral Approach
Depression in children stem from a variety of factors relating to health, history, life events, genetic
vulnerabilities, family history, and biochemical imbalances. Every individual shows different
symptoms when suffering from depression; however, these symptoms interfere with the child s
daily living at school and home. Psychotherapy and medication are the most common treatments for

With CBT, the client must be willing to change. A lack of commitment will not support the effort
needed for CBT to be successful that poses a disadvantage of the approach. Another disadvantage
of CBT is the focus only on the present does not allow the possible underlying problems to be
addressed contributing to future emotional distress.
Including the client s family during the therapeutic process from a CBT Family Focused Therapy
(FFT) approach, the therapist can identify conflicts and unhealthy patterns of behavior that possibly
could be contributing to the child s depression. A CBT FFT approach provides the family members
to develop more effective ways to resolve conflict and improve communications and behaviors
among the family unit. Furthermore, the therapist educates the family on the symptoms and course
of the child s disorder to manage better and minimize future relapses from the child. Research
shows ...FFT to be effective in helping the client become stabilized and preventing relapse (
Psychotherapies, 2012). FFT focuses on restructuring the interactions of the family unit by
educating the members of the disorder, building skills to better cope with the stress associated with
the disorder, and teaching families to solve any problems together.

SLU Mission Statement
Narrow hallways walled by human heads and limbs crowding every space between metal bars
surrounded me. Children starved on unpaved streets with only rags that wrapped their bodies. I
ended my high school career by serving a foreign community. In Chinandega, Nicaragua I had the
opportunity to befriend and support the sick, the imprisoned, the orphaned and impoverished. This
experience among others shaped me to appreciate the value of philanthropy and social justice.
Throughout High School, I led multiple philanthropic projects. As president of the Ignite
Organization, I involved students to raise funds for, and volunteer at a pregnancy center. I
assembled a team of volunteers, and initiated fundraisers. This effort transpired over a year and
continues to affect my community. I also developed a supply drive to assist Hurricane Sandy
victims through benefit events. Furthermore, I volunteered at summer camps as well as at my

The Secret of Starbucks’ Success in China
Article Review and Analysis
The Secret of Starbucks Success in China
The current event article I found tells about the successful marketing strategies that the Starbucks
Corporation takes to enter into the market of China, and simultaneously the problems and
difficulties it has in the process of market expanding. The Starbucks Corporation is the global leader
in specialty coffee consumption. Arising almost overnight from a market in Seattle, Washington,
the company today provides quality premium coffees with a superior level of customer service and
at a premium price, around the globe. Starbucks is an excellent example of a company that has
successfully embraced a differentiation focus strategy tailored to providing a high quality,... Show

In addition, due to the higher price, it completely cut off the low consumer groups, which improve
its environment level. Moreover, owing to the brand personality of the third life space , Starbucks
focus more on its service instead of the product. And the article says that the Starbucks require its
operators to identify with the idea and the brand of the corporation, and also emphasizes the
consistency of the operation, discipline and quality (Guang, 2011). Lastly, Starbucks has a unique
promotion idea according to the article, which says that it thinks in service industry, the most
important marketing channel is the branch store itself, not the advertisement (Guang, 2011).
Therefore, Starbucks does not spend lots of money on advertising, instead, it persist in training its
employees to be knowledgeable and enthusiastic, which has become a unique feature of Starbucks
promotion.
However, because Starbucks expands rapidly in the global market in order to pursue the financial
numbers, it causes a reduction of the brand value, which is one of the major problems that
Starbucks Corporation encounters in the process of expanding Chinese market. Furthermore, in
China, there is a large gap between economic strength of the large cities and small cities. Because
the price of Starbucks coffee is too high, therefore it is hard for Starbucks s market development in
the medium and small cities in China. The last major

Stoke City Case Study
Seasons One to Three
In division three, the lead up to the first season was uneventful. But, after season one gameplay,
Fulham was relegated to division three in place of the Wolverhampton Wanderers, lifting division
three ATL to 4.28. Even so, the preparation for the second season saw little talent movement, with
only Crystal Palace trading talent, acquiring one unit to own a total of five and increase division
ATL to 4.43.
Relegations after season two gameplay reduced division three ATL to 4.28. Subsequently, more
significant talent commerce began. Stoke City sold three players to a team from division one,
reducing their talent to one and division three ATL to 4.0. Season three gameplay then caused
relegations and promotions that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Seasonal win percentage varied from predictions by as much 87.5%, with an average variation of
29.1%. This implies an important lesson in economics; that calculations indicative only, not
certainties. It furthermore reminds franchise managers to prepare for volatility where possible, with
an example being Swansea s actions to minimise the potential profit reductions of sub optimal talent
levels by choosing to remain in division three.
Off‐Field Performance
Despite win percentage variability, Swansea was profitable in all four seasons to such an extent
overall as to exceed expectations, but only when considering management s contribution in the
fourth season. Seasons one to three, on the other hand, incurred more modest outcomes. Starting
with ten million in capital, the team eventually expanded its net worth to over sixty seven
million. So, even without managerial oversight in the first three seasons, Swansea City remained
modestly profitable. This was primarily due to start up talent levels. Their initial talent level of
four was projected to generate a profit of two to eleven million per season, depending on the ATL
of division three competitors. In terms of actual results, these projections eventuated to average
profits of 9.7 million which, despite a degree of seasonal variability as seen in Chart C, was in line
with expectations overall.
In the fourth season, talent trading improved Swansea s profit projections. An optimised projection
of 12.8

Cultural Rituals Of Women During The American Civil War
The American Civil War was the bloodiest war in American military history. One crucial
significance about this war was that it was fought amongst Americans rather than against a foreign
foe. While many focus on the causes of the civil war, there were advances made possible, as a
result of war, which should be brought into light. The American civil warcreated new jobs for
women, brought about cultural rituals that are the norm of society today, and made westward
expansion possible. As men went off to war, women had to find ways to provide for their
families until the return of their men. Women took over farm tasks, filled jobs at schools and
offices, worked in factories, and even became nurses to make wages. Women even became spies
and scouts to aid in the war effort. This new found independence would eventually push women to
question their submissive roles and begin fighting for their equal rights. Clara Barton, founder of
the American Red Cross, put it perfectly: At the war s end, woman was at least fifty years in
advance of the normal position which continued peace would have assigned her. ... Show more

Due to the high morality rate of soldiers during the Civil War, the government began a system to
identify the bodies of the deceased for their families. To better ensure that their bodies would be
identified, soldiers began wearing their names and positions pinned to their uniforms, which
foreshadowed the use of dog tags in future wars. Other rituals that began to form around this time
were the use of black crape mourning dresses, which is where the tradition of wearing black to
funerals began, and the practice of embalming bodies to better preserve them until they were in the
possessions of their families, which gave birth to the modern funeral

Analysis of the Balcony Scene in Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare Love is profound
and unconditional. Love is devotional and overwhelming but as for Romeo and Juliet , they are

they are aware of the risks they are taking but the feeling of love is powerful and Romeo is a
romantic dreamer, they are not afraid to fall deeply in love. The situation they find themselves in

Juliet says how her love resembles the sea. My bounty is as boundless as the sea , my love as
deep , the more I give to thee , the more I have, for both are infinite . This statement refers to her
love as deep as the sea and the more she gives, the more she receives. The love they have for each
other is compared to as sweet as roses and birds that sing. They are all things to do with nature
signifies purity and beauty . Romeo describes Juliet as a light in darkness. It makes Juliet sound
more beautiful and shows how to Romeo, Juliet stands out from everything. But soft, what light
through yonder window breaks? It is the east , and Juliet is the sun . She is his source of light.
Their love is also referred to radiant and life giving as the sun. Shakespeare uses religious image
to describe . He makes it seem sacred, pure and holy. It transcends our human existence. Romeo
calls Juliet a saint and a bright angel . Shakespeare uses these images to show us that Romeo
does not just love Juliet, he worships her. He mentions phrases like eyes in heaven signifying
her beauty , baptised when all sins are washed away therefore one becomes holy and receives new

It is clear that Francie loves Johnny more than anyone else in the world, nevertheless, she owes
her motherly attributes to Sissy Rommely. Sissy, Francie s aunt, is kind and caring toward all
people regardless of the age, race or gender. Francie and all who know Sissy view Sissy as a mother
figure, despite her promiscuous reputation. Francie believes that Sissy is loose with men because
of her determination to give as much as she can to anyone. Francie adores Sissy, and Sissy s
maternal actions are the inspiration to Francie s fantasies about starting a family of her own. Sissy
makes frequent visits to the Nolan house and constantly checks on the children s well being, just
as a mother would watch over her own children. If someone mistreats one of the children, such as
Francie s elementary school teacher, Sissy makes sure to give them a piece of her mind. Sissy s
protective nature of the Nolan children shows Francie the lifestyle of a caring mother.
Katie Nolan, Francie s mother, is the main reason that Francie is able to survive her arduous
childhood and succeed in life. Food, heat and protection are always available to the Nolan
children even if it means that Katie has to work multiple jobs or even sacrifice some of her own
needs. Katie gives all she can to provide for her children and Francie truly values her mother s hard
work. Francie appreciates her mother s thougtful acts, but still, Francie develops

Korean War After The Cold War
War doesn t determine what is right, only what is left, said Bertrand Russell. Everyone once in
their lives face Korean war in their history classes. Korean war, the first military attack after the
cold war occurred between 1950 to 1953 and left a hostile scar in the world with more than 5
million casualties that the Koreas ended in a ceasefire, not a peace treaty, technically remaining the
peninsula still at war. The headline: Negotiations Break Down Between Two Koreas (Choe, The
New York Times ) illustrates how the two Koreas failed to achieve an agreement as they couldn t
narrow their differences on holding reunions for separated families. In this negotiation talk, South
Korearequested for corporations on reuniting thousands of aging Koreans whose families are
dispersed by the Korean war. However, North Koreawould carry out this only when the South
agrees on continuing the tourist business in collaboration with the North which was ceased after a
South Korean tourist got shot by a soldier from the North Korean army for roaming around the
restricted area in 2008. The tourist investigation had been a significant financial backer to the North
and South Korea would resume this, if they admit and apologize for their fault. Unfortunately, the
talk was founded as a result of not budging from its position. Later on, in August that year, they
had a military engagement after two South Korean border guards were crippled by the land mines
from North Korea. In fact, breaking

Impact Of The Invention Of Computers In The 20th Century
In the 20th century, people saw sufficiently of important variations in the life to recall forever in
their life. Most changes were technology progressions due to countless inventions, which even
today changing forms of ordinary life of society. In my view, the most extraordinary invention
which can be recalled in history is invention of computers. Because, computers prejudiced our
office, systems, education and science.
First after occupying to our life, computers have developed one of the main component of office
workers. Due to computers industries are saving a countless deal of money and increasing
efficiency of office workers. For example, computer is a good device to achieve data storage of
businesses and thus can help to decrease the huge amount of paper which are required for
ordinary working issues. Also, they can be used to improve efficiency in areas such as word
dispensation, data organization and data access. Therefore, it is foretold that computers will remain
as an important device of office staff for a long time.
Second, education is one of the most significant influences of expansion and due to computers
education system of nations are refining. After development of computer, quality of education has
been improved and students has begun to study in collaborating ways such as online performances,
group knowledge through the Internet and taking online sequences, which are obtainable by great
universities such as Harvard, MIT and Stanford. The use of computers

When Conducting The Research For My Survey, I Will Be...
When conducting the research for my survey, I will be studying the political preference of
people in correlation to the political preference of the town they grew up in. For example, a
person is more likely to be a Republican if they originate from a Republican dominated town. The
independent variable, the variable whose variation does not depend on the other, that will be
studied is political preference of the participant: Republican, Democratic or Independent. A person s
political preference can have many conceptual definitions. It can mean the person lives a certain
lifestyle, or they have views on policy and how the government should run. It can also determine
stereotypical characters as about the person themselves. Moreover, the... Show more content on

For example, Please choose how strongly you agree with the statement: My parents imposed
Republican values on me throughout my childhood. 1 = Extremely Disagree, 2 = Disagree, 3 =

The hypothesis of this study is people are more likely to be a specific political party depending on
the majority of the political preference of the participant s hometown. There is a positive
relationship between the two variables of the person s political preference and their hometown s
political preference. This type of research and survey has drawn a lot of attention from the media
with the current 2016 Presidential Election between now President Donald J. Trump and Senator
Hillary Clinton. This election had a much stronger impact on the population of the United States
both mentally and emotionally. Through general knowledge and evidence, the media made an
abundant amount of traction on how numerous statisticians and pollers predicted Clinton to win the
election by a landslide. In the end, they were wrong as Trump won the presidency. It is important to
understanding how to determine if someone is a Republican or Democratic and their voting
patterns to correctly predict future outcomes of elections. Similarly, I have predicted this proposed
hypothesis based on the assumption that children gain traits like their parents. If parents impose
political beliefs, it could affect the child and what they grow up to believe. Certain traits and

The Alchemist, By Paulo Coelho
We as humans like to believe that we have the power to control our own destiny. However, at the
same time, we take comfort in knowing that there is some higher power which assures
everything happens for a reason. This conflict can be seen in many popular literary works today.
For example, The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho, dives into how man is the creator of his own
destiny. It even goes as far as to say that the world s greatest lie is that at a certain point in our
lives, we lose control of what s happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate. (Coelho,
18) Coelho insinuates that every event in one s life can be controlled by one s own actions. That

we are beings whose entire lives are centered around ourselves; even if we are chess pieces on a

happiness is to continually choose to seek it. Since most of us will never meet our higher power

Role of Minorities in the Canadian Armed Forces
With the belief that they were superior in patriotism, many people alienated minorities during
World War II. In terms of the military ranking and task, many minorities were restricted. Many
Chinese Canadians were not accepted into the air force or navy. The Japanese Canadians were
considered enemies and were subjected to many hate crimes during the given time. They were also
often turned down when applying for a position in the Canadian armed forces, and deemed unfit.
This was highly based on a perspective of generalization and prejudice. Additionally, racism played
a part in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This policy was abolished later on in the war. Additionally the government, as well as the military
made it very difficult for racial minorities to ascend the ranks in the army. A lesser portion of the
Chinese immigrants did not want to join the armed forces because they believed they had been
treated unfairly. When World War II started, the head tax on Chinese immigrants had not yet been
abolished. The Chinese people were discriminated against and were forced to pay to immigrate to
Canada because of their ethnicity. It can be argued that this policy s purpose was to discourage
Chinese people from settling in Canada. The British Columbian and Saskatchewan government
both disagreed with idea of enlisting Chinese Canadians in the army. They thought that after war,
the Chinese Canadians would demand the right to vote. Although many Chinese Canadians, were
opposed to fighting for Canada because of the discrimination that they faced (head tax), many youth
still enlisted because they wanted to show their loyalty to their country. After Japan entered the war,
the british began accepting Chinese Canadians to fight. They fought behind Japanese lines in
China, Sarawak, Malaya. Although approximately 600 Chinese Canadians had served by the end
of World War II, the contributions of many of these men went unnoticed. One such man was
George Chow, who was accepted into the armed forces in 1940

For this paper I have chosen obsessive compulsive disorder. According to psychologytoday.com,
(2017), Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder in which people have
unwanted and repeated thoughts, feelings, images, and sensations (obsessions) and engage in
behaviors or mental acts in response to these thoughts or obsessions. This topic is one that I find
very fascinating, because half of the population may not realize they are suffering from this
disorder, including myself.

The purpose of the report is to outline the concept of genetic manipulation, which is an all inclusive
term that describes the deliberate manipulation of the genetic material by biochemical techniques. It

Why I Want To Give Back To High School
I sincerely have a deep desire to give back to my school and community at large. I have been
given so many opportunities to grow and succeed that I feel that I need to give back to in as many
areas as possible. My involvement in the community began in elementary school through my
church group. I have always had a love for the elderly. I regularly visited nursing homes and
assisted living facilities engaging in activities there. Also, I worked with the Salvation Army during
the Christmas break to raise money for the homeless. In high school, I have had to manage my time
wisely to include volunteering with the demands of advanced placement and dual enrollment
classes and extra curricular activities. One of my main passions is to volunteer

Analysis Of To A Daughter Leaving Home By Linda Pastan
The author Linda Pastan, imagines a parent running breathlessly to regain her strength from the
ending connection she once shared with her daughter in her poem, To a Daughter Leaving Home.
It s a mother s biggest fear when it comes to their child or children leaving home while going their
own ways when the time is right. This poem is based on childhood, fatherhood, and even
motherhood.
Linda Pastan made this poem include various forms of figurative language to hide the literal
message that it s trying to portray. Figurative language is using figures of speech to make the text
be more powerful, persuasive, and meaningful. Figures of speech such as, similes and metaphors,
go beyond the literal meanings to give the readers a new way of looking at the text. It can come in
multiple ways with different literacy and rhetorical devices such as: alliteration, imageries,
onomatopoeias, and etc. With the usage of the literary devices Pastan has used, it introduced the
relationship between the mother and the daughter. It shows the memories of how the mother
helped her daughter grow from a little girl to a young adult getting ready to go her own way in life.
Linda Pastan s poem, To a Daughter Leaving Home, is represented as a metaphor because it s
comparing the bike ride to the relationship between the mother and daughter. The author
describes the mother going along side her eight year old daughter as she rides her bicycle
(Pastan 915). The daughter wobbled away (Pastan 915). This happens to be an example of
imagery because it gives a visual description of how the daughter was riding her bike. As she rides
the bike further along, the mother gets surprised by the way the daughter seemed to be in control
of the bike as she goes down a curved path of the park (Pastan 915).
Besides giving a visual description Linda uses symbolism to symbolize life. The phrase a curved
path represents life by it being joyous, unpredictable, and dangerous. Life doesn t go in a straight
line, just a curved one. Pastan s use of onomatopoeias in the poem allows the reader to hear what
is going on in the poem. For example, she used the words thud and crash to make the reader
visualize the way the daughter rides the bike (Pastan

Real Estate Agents And Economists
Real estate agents and economists love to extol the virtues of home ownership when interest rates
are low. In fact, they tend to see periods of low interest rates as the very best time to buy a home
for just about everyone.
Do your best to ignore the low rate hype. Sure, it s better to get a low rate mortgage than a high
rate one, but mortgage rates should never be the primary reason driving you to buy a house. It s
even possible that chasing low rates can cause you to lose money.
How in the world can that possibly happen?

If you pay 3 percent in closing costs to purchase a home, then another 10 percent to sell it, the
house will need to have increased in value by at least 13 percent in order for you to not lose
money on the exchange. If the property doesn t rise in value at least that much, owning the house
will cost you money over and above your monthly payment and other expenses paid to maintain the
property.
You Have Significant Non Mortgage Debt
Mortgages are usually thought of as being good debt . While that s often true, accumulating good
debt doesn t do anything to make your bad debt go away.
If you have a significant amount of bad debt credit cards, store charge accounts, car loans or other
forms of debt adding a mortgage to the list could prove to be an unsustainable burden.
Another type of debt almost synonymous with Millennials are student loans. Though generally
considered to be good debt themselves, they are nonetheless debt no matter how you classify them,
and add to your cost of living.
Before considering buying a home, carefully evaluate your existing debt situation. If you think that
the current debt load is even a little bit uncomfortable, your best course of action would be to wait
in buying a home until you get those other non housing debts under better control.
You can use a mortgage industry barometer to help you make this

A Short Period Of Time Essay
Think of a mother deer raising its fawn, while the fawn is being raised, it is being taught about
survival, how to hunt and catch food. In a short period of time, that fawn is released into the wild
on its own, without its mother. The fawn has to rely on its mother s teachings and also its own
instincts, Animals raise their young to survive on their own by means of hunting and keeping
themselves protected, while parents send off their children to survive on their owns by means of
motivation, determination and independence. I was raised by my parents and they are sending me
off into the wild in a way, since this is my first timeaway from home and away from them. I feel
grown enough to survive and I will do my best to make them proud and use everything they have
taught me. I am the fawn, raised by my Motherand taught how to survive. However, my Mom is

The Rhetorical Analysis Of Viva La Vida
Titanium This song relates specifically to the scene at the end where he stands up for himself

himself and the others by defying the court and being hanged... He let there empty threats
ricochet of him as he stands defiant against the evil and corruption of the court. When he

Viva La VidaViva La Vida is a song of remembrance for a time when the King of France had real

authority that occurs throughout the story as Hale loses respect. Hale goes from the de facto
authority on witchcraft and a chief member of the Salem court... to a person who s pleas and

end; these quotes are, There be no unnatural causes here. Tell him I have sent for Reverend Hale

Burger King s Successful Fast Food Restaurants
Burger King is one of the most successful fast food restaurants in the world. Burger King has been
very effective in applying their strategic vision and mission statement to build their brand. The
leadership team has positioned Burger King for a path of continued domestic and international
growth, because of a strong brand recognition and quality products. Burger Kinguses two generic
strategies to deal with competition, they are differentiation and cost leadership. Cost leadership
within Burger King is essential to minimize costs. This allows Burger King to control margins and
operating costs. For Burger King to offer such competitive prices, they have to reduce operating
costs, but at the same time they need to provide a quality product that the customers want. Burger
King also uses a differentiation strategy. A good example would be the way they grill their
products and the specific techniques they use for products such as the Whopper . The marketing
teams has also formed slogans such as Have It Your Way and the most current slogan Be Your Way
. These slogans attempt to form a differentiation pattern in the consumer s minds. These marketing
slogans are also used to attract new customers especially in the competitive market such as the fast
food market. These techniques have allowed Burger King to reach out to new and current customers.

Mass Casualty Incident Essay
Mass casualty incident by definition is any incident, which because of its physical size, the
number and criticality of victims, or its complexity, is likely to overwhelm those local resources
which would typically be available (Mass, 2017). Many actions are taken initially upon the
choice to make a pronouncement to classify a situation mass casualty incident. These consist of
initial actions, which can include assessment of the scene, request for additional resources such
as chemical isolation as an example, scene set up, such as triage area and transport. All of these
beginning stages will likely be performed by a medical officer who will assign roles for
personnel to fulfill. As a nurse things to do to prepare to be part of that team are to understand
the triage classifications. This important and can be difficult to achieve especially in a situation
where people who may be badly injured yet classified as green are calling for help. Doing triage
exercises and becoming familiar with the type of injuries that come from a mass casualty incident,
and having the ability to stabilize a patient that may need intervention to stay alive are ways to

Superstition and religion serve as emotional anchors for the soldiers, allowing them to have

For example, in the chapter Spin, O Brien explains how it s all relative. You re pinned down in

there are indeed moments of extreme violence in war, but these are sometimes alternated with
moments of peace and tranquility that often occur simultaneously. This fact about the
experience of war may somewhat surprise readers due to it straying away from preconceived
notions of the violence of war. In particular, the feeling of peace during an intense battle may
seem illogical and nonsensical, but in war, nothing needs to make sense; it is all about gut
emotions, which are inherently fickle. In addition, O Brien writes about how boring the war is:
the war was nakedly and aggressively boring. But it was a strange boredom. It was boredom with

Atrial Septal Defect (or ASP for short and also known as Hole in the Heart ) is one of the many

Argumentative Essay On Mascots
Currently in the NFL, the Washington Redskins are being faced with a staggering controversy:
Should they change they change their mascot as a result of Native Americans viewing it is a racial

relating to their culture countrywide, of their title, but the mascot names have no negative
connotation and should not be protested against. The controversy relates back to the 1900s when
Native Americans began to feel oppressed and teams began using their titles as mascot (Brady

The Effects of Child Labor in the Chocolate Industry: December 6, 2015, was an important day for
many Americans, as it marked the 150th year since the abolishment of slavery when the U.S.
authorized the 13th Amendment to the Constitution to end what can be described as the darkest
chapter of American history. Many in Western Society seem to be unaware of the contemporary
slavery still plaguing many developing countries, particularly involving children. The 2010
documentary film called The Dark Side of Chocolate explored the modern day slavery that is
occurring within many West African countries, where children are being exploited and trafficked in
order to harvest chocolate. In fact, the United States Department of State estimates that
approximately 109,000 children in the Ivory Coast s cocoa industry work under the worst forms of
child labor (Mustapha, 2010, p.3).
By exploring the use of child labor in the chocolate industry in West Africa, this paper will present
the argument where I will argue that the unethical use of child labor has led to impoverished
families, negative health impacts among children, and has affected economies in West Africa. In
order to overcome this situation, there is a need for enforced policies, government action, and
corporations taking accountability in order to put an end to child labor. The first part of the paper
will discuss how the cocoa industry affects families, the health of child laborers, and the economy,
followed by various

Overcoming Fear in Frank O Connor s First Confession
Word Count includes detailed outline
David W. Madden believes several of Frank O Connor s stories reflect his personal life and goals.
Jackie, the young protagonist, in the First Confession, loves his mother as equally as O Connor
loved his mother. Madden also believes O Connor should have selected a religious calling because
the priests mentioned in his stories incorporate the instrumental impact on the laity s lives (3227).
Understanding women, contributed by his mother s influence, frequently are displayed in O
Connor s writings. Madden feels that some of O Connor s stories focus on naГЇve, sensitive figures
who struggle with what seems to them the insoluble mysteries of ... Show more content on

They talk about the horrific details of hanging for such vicious crimes. At first, Jackie is unwilling
to confess but regretful for having to part with his new friend (the priest). He values him as an
exceptionally entertaining character in the religious line (182).
Jackie is a young naГЇve boy who is nervous about the transition of obligations according to his
religion. He is planning to make his First Communion, but initially he is required to make his First
Penance. Jackie proclaims, I was scared to death of confession (177). He thinks his sins are
disgraceful, and he may be punished for them. On the other hand, he is petrified to make a bad
confession because he does not want to burn in Hell for eternity like Mrs. Ryan taught him. Jackie
s youth and innocence leads him to believe literally the tales that have been told to him about
confession (178). Jackie thinks that his grandmother and sister are the core to all his evil doing, and
he wishes death upon both of them. Most young children have these same feelings.
Jackie s confidence increases because of the relationships he finds in his mother and the priest.
Jackie s mother is the typical mom. She is always shielding him from the world, and especially his
father s thrashings. It seems she is his only ally in the world until he meets the priest. Jackie feels
betrayed when Nora takes him to confession instead of his mother. As a result, his sister

DESCRIBE THE STRUCTURAL COMPARTMENTATION OF MAMMALIAN CELLS
AND THE DIFFERING FUNCTIONS OF THESE COMPARTMENTS
All mammalian cells are eukaryotic, and whilst the eukaryotic type of cell is not exclusive to
mammals, mammalian cells differ from other eukaryotic cells because of the organelles that are or
are not present. For instance some plant cells have chloroplasts which are not present in mammalian
cells, but both plant cells and mammalian cells are eukaryotic in nature. The term eukaryotic refers
to the cell having specific membrane bound organelles, which are not present in prokaryotic cells.
The defining feature of a eukaryotic cell is usually its membrane bound nucleus (the exception
being the red blood cell) [1].

The small ribosomal subunit, amongst other things, is initiates the engagement of the mRNA and
is responsible decoding the genetic information during translation [4].
The endoplasmic reticulum is specialised for protein processing and lipid biosynthesis. One of its
primary functions is to regulate the ionic concentration in the cytoplasm via the movement of
Ca2+, via ionic pumps and channels. It also contains enzymes responsible for the metabolising of
drugs. Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) can come in two forms. As depicted in Fig. 2 Rough ER has
ribosomes present as part of the membrane of the organelle, and together with these ribosomes
takes polypeptides and amino acids from the cytosol and synthesises proteins destined for
attachment to cell membranes. It is in the lumen of the rough ER that the proteins are folded into
the specific three dimensional shapes that are so important for biochemical recognition and
linking sites [6]. It is called rough because of the presence of ribosomes makes the surface of the
membrane look rough, unlike smooth ER, which lacks the ribosomes so the membrane looks
smooth. Rough ER is composed of a large but convoluted flattened sac. The main function of the
smooth ER is the production of lipids and the metabolism of compounds (such as the breakdown of
glycogen into glucose). Because of the different functions between the rough and smooth ER,
different specialised cells will have different amounts of each; for example, hepatic

How Is Genghis Khan Barbaric
In the book Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World, by Jack Weatherford Genghis
Khan and his men are portrayed as ruthless barbarians. Evidence in the book shows that he wasn
t a barbaric man. He was known for doing so ruthless things, but when it comes down to the facts
of what really happened he was actually not barbaric he was protecting what he felt was right.
The way he ran his military, how his politics was set up, and how women were treated all were
reason he is not barbaric.
Khan had a specific type of military, and their techniques were precise. His warriors were taught to
die for their leader, but even thought they were taught that he never asked his men to die for him.
Khan would never willing sacrifice a single one. (91) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of cooking and cleaning they were taken care of what the men left behind. They ran the
empire while the men were on their journeys. Even though we were left in charge of the empire
it wasn t always like that. Khan mother and many others were kidnapped. This may seem
strange, but actually most women were kidnapped in this day and time. If you wanted to marry
a women you would take her and she would then be your wife. So, when Khan made his laws it
was said that, He forbade the abduction and enslavement of any Mongol. (68) There was a
women by the name of Fatima. She was not a Mongol nor married to one, but was instead a war
captive of uncertain but protected. (164) The Golden family ordered punishment on Fatima by
sewing up every hole in her body. Even though this was done Khan said that he would never do
that. He was actually against it.
In conclusion, Genghis Khan could set off the feel of being barbaric, but actually he wasn t he was
trying to make his people better. The way of his military showed that he was a strong man, and he
cared about his people because he personally picked each one of them. His politics was there to
prevent fighting. And by him changing the way he treated the women all showed that Genghis
Khan was actually a good

Advantages Of Tourism In The Bahamas
The tourism industry today is a big business for a country, it is the number one industry of The
Bahamas. It is the migration of individuals from one place to another for a short period of time.
Tourism in The Bahamas accounts for seventy percent of the country s national income and
employs fifty percent of the population. Tourismis further considered the main source of The
Bahamasincome. Tourism in The Bahamas may have several impact on the country both good and
bad.
According to the Research Statistics Department of the Ministry of Tourism some of the advantages
of tourism in The Bahamas includes the provision of jobs for the Bahamian people. Some of these
jobs are directly and indirectly related to tourism. Ministry of Tourism further states that about 30%
of Bahamians are directly employed in tourism which means then that tourism plays an important
role in ensuring that Bahamians are employed. Another advantage of tourism ... Show more content

Tourism has placed a strain on water and electrical supplies. These two entities are left with the
pressure of providing sufficient electrical and water supplies to both Tourists and Bahamas. This
means that the more tourists there are in the destination, the more demand for these supplies.
Tourism has further influenced the manner in which Bahamians dressed and speak according to the
Ministry of Tourism Research Statistics Department. The wearing of long boots by females
throughout the season, the low hanging of pants and the wearing of caps with tags still on them are
all adopted and are not originally Bahamian which again affects and raises the question as to the
culture of Bahamians. A final note on the disadvantage of tourism in The Bahamas which speaks to
the culture of Bahamians is the diminished desire of Bahamians listening to Bahamian music.
Bahamian would rather listen to rap, R B and other artist rather than Bahamian singing and

Essay On Snowboarding
Snowboarding is an activity where an individual descends down a snow covered hill standing on
a snowboard which is attached to the individual s feet. Snowboarding has become a big sport
around the world. It is an Olympic and Paralympic sport. Snowboarding was developed in the
United states based on the recreational activities skateboarding, surfing, and sledding. You can
slide off of snow filled jumps and do flips and you can also slide down metal pipes to do twists. It
can become a very intriguing sport to watch and to become an expert at. The inventors of the
snowboardnarrowed it down to a small board that is about three to four feet in length and attaches
to special boots you wear on your feet. I interviewed Cole Dimeglio on the sport of snowboarding,
he taught me how he has been enculturated into this sport growing up. Cole has been
snowboarding for around 9 and a half years. So he started out in this sport fairly young. One of
Cole s good friends Benny Marlum got him into the sport of snowboarding. Benny gave Cole all of

back to Spirit Mountain the next day. The worst injury that Cole has ever obtained from
snowboarding was a few years ago. It was a cold late night at Trollhaugen and Cole decided to go
off a hill and lost control of his body. He landed right on his tailbone and that created a tear in his
skin, if you know where I mean. This injury made Cole not able to snowboard for a bit due to the
pain. But that didn t stop Cole, he healed and was right back out

Nietzsche s On The Genealogy Of Morality
In section 13 of Friedrich Nietzsche s On the Genealogy of Morality, he presents his audience
with a metaphor, That the lambs feel anger toward the great birds of prey does not strike us as
odd: but that is no reason for holding it against the great birds of prey that they snatch up the little
lambs for themselves. (Section 13, 25). In this passage, Nietzsche details the complex relationship
between the birds of prey and the lambs. Firstly, I argue that the birds of prey represent the noble
class, and the lambs represent the slave class. This metaphor offers insight into their complex
relationship that ultimately led to a shift from noble to slave morality. Secondly, I argue that this
metaphor aids Nietzsche s broader goals in this piece by explaining the... Show more content on

I will show this by doing a close reading of section 13 and detailing the claims made by Nietzsche
throughout book 1.
In section 13, Nietzsche begins by saying, But let us come back: the problem of the other origin
of good, of the good one was conceived by the man of ressentiment, demands its conclusion.
(Section 13, 25). Here Nietzsche is setting up who the lambs represent in his moral theory. He is
arguing that whomever falls under the category of the man of ressentiment is also the group who
originated their own definition of good. This group of people would be the slaves or the lambs.
When Nietzsche says, the man of ressentiment he is talking about a very specific emotion that
occurred between the lambs and the birds of prey. When the slaves saw how powerful, noble, and
war like the upper

The TransContinental Railroad Essay The TransContinental Railroad If any act symbolized the taming of the Northwest frontier, it was the driving of the final spike to complete the nation s first transcontinental railroad. 1 The first railroad west of the Mississippi River was opened on December 23, 1852. Five miles long, the track ran from St. Louis to Cheltanham, Missouri. Twenty five years prior, there were no railroads in the United States; twenty five years later, railroads joined the east and west coasts from New York to San Francisco.2 No other single factor contributed more the commercial and social development of the Pacific Northwest than the arrival of the railroad. Divided into six sections, each one retells a similar story of a Caribbean dictator and his hold on power until the inevitable revolution comes for him. Marquez has described the book as A poem on the solitude of power , and paints the lead character as an eternal dictator doomed to the same terrible cycle of power and fall over and over again. Although different circumstances bring him to power each time, he and the dictator he replaces always become one and the same. However, Jose soon gets out of control, and his brutality threatens the General s regime. He turns to a populist approach, styling himself as a General of the people. A mob rises up and Jose is killed in the riots. The General surrounds himself with new civilian advisors, and by now is very old. He only rarely involves himself with government affairs now, and his regime leaves him alone to play sexual games with whoever is brought to the palace, including schoolgirls. The country is nearly broke, and he s forced to sell their holdings in the Caribbean Sea. One crucial significance about this war was that it was fought amongst Americans rather than against a foreign foe. While many focus on the causes of the civil war, there were advances made possible, as a result of war, which should be brought into light. The American civil warcreated new jobs for women, brought about cultural rituals that are the norm of society today, and made westward expansion possible. As men went off to war, women had to find ways to provide for their families until the return of their men. Women took over farm tasks, filled jobs at schools and offices, worked in factories, and even became nurses to make wages. Women even became spies and scouts to aid in the war effort. This new found independence would eventually push women to question their submissive roles and begin fighting for their equal rights. • 23. Analysis Of To A Daughter Leaving Home By Linda Pastan The author Linda Pastan, imagines a parent running breathlessly to regain her strength from the ending connection she once shared with her daughter in her poem, To a Daughter Leaving Home. It s a mother s biggest fear when it comes to their child or children leaving home while going their own ways when the time is right. This poem is based on childhood, fatherhood, and even motherhood. Linda Pastan made this poem include various forms of figurative language to hide the literal message that it s trying to portray. Figurative language is using figures of speech to make the text be more powerful, persuasive, and meaningful. Figures of speech such as, similes and metaphors, go beyond the literal meanings to give the readers a new way of looking at the text. It can come in multiple ways with different literacy and rhetorical devices such as: alliteration, imageries, onomatopoeias, and etc. With the usage of the literary devices Pastan has used, it introduced the relationship between the mother and the daughter. It shows the memories of how the mother helped her daughter grow from a little girl to a young adult getting ready to go her own way in life. Linda Pastan s poem, To a Daughter Leaving Home, is represented as a metaphor because it s comparing the bike ride to the relationship between the mother and daughter. The author describes the mother going along side her eight year old daughter as she rides her bicycle (Pastan 915). The daughter wobbled away (Pastan 915). This happens to be an example of imagery because it gives a visual description of how the daughter was riding her bike. As she rides the bike further along, the mother gets surprised by the way the daughter seemed to be in control of the bike as she goes down a curved path of the park (Pastan 915). Besides giving a visual description Linda uses symbolism to symbolize life. The phrase a curved path represents life by it being joyous, unpredictable, and dangerous. Life doesn t go in a straight line, just a curved one. Pastan s use of onomatopoeias in the poem allows the reader to hear what is going on in the poem. For example, she used the words thud and crash to make the reader visualize the way the daughter rides the bike (Pastan ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Effects Of Child Labor On The Chocolate Industry The Effects of Child Labor in the Chocolate Industry: December 6, 2015, was an important day for many Americans, as it marked the 150th year since the abolishment of slavery when the U.S. authorized the 13th Amendment to the Constitution to end what can be described as the darkest chapter of American history. Many in Western Society seem to be unaware of the contemporary slavery still plaguing many developing countries, particularly involving children. The 2010 documentary film called The Dark Side of Chocolate explored the modern day slavery that is occurring within many West African countries, where children are being exploited and trafficked in order to harvest chocolate. In fact, the United States Department of State estimates that approximately 109,000 children in the Ivory Coast s cocoa industry work under the worst forms of child labor (Mustapha, 2010, p.3). By exploring the use of child labor in the chocolate industry in West Africa, this paper will present the argument where I will argue that the unethical use of child labor has led to impoverished families, negative health impacts among children, and has affected economies in West Africa. In order to overcome this situation, there is a need for enforced policies, government action, and corporations taking accountability in order to put an end to child labor. The first part of the paper will discuss how the cocoa industry affects families, the health of child laborers, and the economy, followed by various ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Madden believes several of Frank O Connor s stories reflect his personal life and goals. Jackie, the young protagonist, in the First Confession, loves his mother as equally as O Connor loved his mother. Madden also believes O Connor should have selected a religious calling because the priests mentioned in his stories incorporate the instrumental impact on the laity s lives (3227). Understanding women, contributed by his mother s influence, frequently are displayed in O Connor s writings. They talk about the horrific details of hanging for such vicious crimes. At first, Jackie is unwilling to confess but regretful for having to part with his new friend (the priest). He values him as an exceptionally entertaining character in the religious line (182). Jackie is a young naГЇve boy who is nervous about the transition of obligations according to his religion. He is planning to make his First Communion, but initially he is required to make his First Penance. Jackie proclaims, I was scared to death of confession (177). He thinks his sins are disgraceful, and he may be punished for them. On the other hand, he is petrified to make a bad confession because he does not want to burn in Hell for eternity like Mrs. Ryan taught him. Jackie s youth and innocence leads him to believe literally the tales that have been told to him about confession (178). Jackie thinks that his grandmother and sister are the core to all his evil doing, and he wishes death upon both of them. Most young children have these same feelings. Jackie s confidence increases because of the relationships he finds in his mother and the priest. Jackie s mother is the typical mom. She is always shielding him from the world, and especially his father s thrashings. It seems she is his only ally in the world until he meets the priest. Jackie feels betrayed when Nora takes him to confession instead of his mother. As a result, his sister ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Essay about Describe the structural compartmentation of... DESCRIBE THE STRUCTURAL COMPARTMENTATION OF MAMMALIAN CELLS AND THE DIFFERING FUNCTIONS OF THESE COMPARTMENTS All mammalian cells are eukaryotic, and whilst the eukaryotic type of cell is not exclusive to mammals, mammalian cells differ from other eukaryotic cells because of the organelles that are or are not present. For instance some plant cells have chloroplasts which are not present in mammalian cells, but both plant cells and mammalian cells are eukaryotic in nature. The term eukaryotic refers to the cell having specific membrane bound organelles, which are not present in prokaryotic cells. The defining feature of a eukaryotic cell is usually its membrane bound nucleus (the exception being the red blood cell) [1]. Because of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The small ribosomal subunit, amongst other things, is initiates the engagement of the mRNA and is responsible decoding the genetic information during translation [4]. The endoplasmic reticulum is specialised for protein processing and lipid biosynthesis. One of its primary functions is to regulate the ionic concentration in the cytoplasm via the movement of Ca2+, via ionic pumps and channels. It also contains enzymes responsible for the metabolising of drugs. Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) can come in two forms. As depicted in Fig. 2 Rough ER has ribosomes present as part of the membrane of the organelle, and together with these ribosomes takes polypeptides and amino acids from the cytosol and synthesises proteins destined for attachment to cell membranes. It is in the lumen of the rough ER that the proteins are folded into the specific three dimensional shapes that are so important for biochemical recognition and linking sites [6]. It is called rough because of the presence of ribosomes makes the surface of the membrane look rough, unlike smooth ER, which lacks the ribosomes so the membrane looks smooth. Rough ER is composed of a large but convoluted flattened sac. The main function of the smooth ER is the production of lipids and the metabolism of compounds (such as the breakdown of glycogen into glucose). Because of the different functions between the rough and smooth ER, different specialised cells will have different amounts of each; for example, hepatic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Snowboarding has become a big sport around the world. It is an Olympic and Paralympic sport. Snowboarding was developed in the United states based on the recreational activities skateboarding, surfing, and sledding. You can slide off of snow filled jumps and do flips and you can also slide down metal pipes to do twists. It can become a very intriguing sport to watch and to become an expert at. The inventors of the snowboardnarrowed it down to a small board that is about three to four feet in length and attaches to special boots you wear on your feet. I interviewed Cole Dimeglio on the sport of snowboarding, he taught me how he has been enculturated into this sport growing up. Cole has been snowboarding for around 9 and a half years. • 47. Nietzsche s On The Genealogy Of Morality In section 13 of Friedrich Nietzsche s On the Genealogy of Morality, he presents his audience with a metaphor, That the lambs feel anger toward the great birds of prey does not strike us as odd: but that is no reason for holding it against the great birds of prey that they snatch up the little lambs for themselves. (Section 13, 25). In this passage, Nietzsche details the complex relationship between the birds of prey and the lambs. Firstly, I argue that the birds of prey represent the noble class, and the lambs represent the slave class. This metaphor offers insight into their complex relationship that ultimately led to a shift from noble to slave morality. In section 13, Nietzsche begins by saying, But let us come back: the problem of the other origin of good, of the good one was conceived by the man of ressentiment, demands its conclusion. (Section 13, 25). Here Nietzsche is setting up who the lambs represent in his moral theory. He is arguing that whomever falls under the category of the man of ressentiment is also the group who originated their own definition of good. This group of people would be the slaves or the lambs. When Nietzsche says, the man of ressentiment he is talking about a very specific emotion that occurred between the lambs and the birds of prey.
