The Trial and The Metamorphosis are the two foremost works Franz Kafka has ever written. By
doing this, Franz makes the similarities and differences very obvious, yet each text is complex in
their own way. In The Trialand The Metamorphosis, Kafka uses unique aspects to compare the
characters in each novel. Each character is being forced by anonymous forces. They both go
through loneliness to find the meaning behind their suffering. Each similarity and difference in The
Trial and The Metamorphosis, come along with complexity that gives readers a deeper
psychological view. In having these similarities and differences, it can be arguable that the
characters had inevitable deaths. At the end, their death may or may not have been preventable
which shows their struggle in each story.
In both, The Trial and The Metamorphosis, the characters never find out who the anonymous
forces are. This is one of the dominant issues of both stories which concludes to be one of the
similarities. One of the examples would be from The Trial, in this scene of The Trial, Joseph K is
leaving the bank and as he is passing by a lumber room, he realizes that some of the warders are
getting beaten. He asked for the man beating them to stop but the man did not listen and continued

developing, until death. I personally agree with his theory. I have interviewed and/or observed
four people that are at different points of Erikson s psychosocial stages to see how they are
managing the developmental crises of that stage. My first observation was of a fifteen month old,

the movies, but there is also similarities. While most of the movie follows the storyline, there are
some changes made to the storyline. These changes made in the movie impacted the storyline a lot.
In A Wrinkle In Time, one of the biggest differences from the book is the plotsequencing in the

In the book, Vera accuses Lombard of being the killer and shoots him, she then goes and hangs
herself. The real killer, Wargrave, puts a confession letter in a bottle and throws it into the sea.
He then takes a pill that kills him. In the movie, none of this happens. Vera and Lombard become
lovers and trust that each other are not the killer, but to follow the nursery rhyme Lombard asks
Vera to fire the gun and he will fall to his knees to trick the killer. When she goes in the house,
her room is set up for her to hang herself and Wargrave is sitting there. Lombard comes in to hear
Wargrave confessing to the killing. Wargrave takes the pill that kills him to leave Vera and
Lombard there to look like the killers. The driver of the boat, Fred Narracott, comes in and asks
where the other guests are. Vera and Lombard tell Narracott to call for them, while they run off. The

In Paradise Lost the character of Satan is created by Milton. There are many characters of Satan in
literature, and over the creation of each Satan, he as a character has evolved. It is thought by John
Carey that Milton observed the former characters of Satan and used them as inspiration to influence
his new character as Satan. Milton created Satan as the author of evil and created him by himself.
Satan is the main character throughout Paradise Lostthat starts the story and puts events into
motion. As Milton created his Satan he focused on strong characteristics of epic heroes and
rhetoric. In Paradise Lost , Milton uses select qualities of an epic hero to be displayed as an epic
hero himself.
To become an epic hero the character must travel over vast settings to meet the criteria to be an
epic hero. Milton created the story in a religious sense which can be seen in the setting too. The
setting consists of Earth, Hell, Heaven, and the space between them. Heaven and Hell are
complete polar opposites which is in relation to the distance between them. The space between
Heaven and Hell is empty space and Earth. Earth represents the middle ground between perfect
and imperfect. Satan starts his journey in Hell and must travel through Hell to the far gates out of
Hell. And thrice threefold the gates... Yet unconsumed ( II.645 648). His journey began from hell
