Ebola Virus Research Paper
The Ebola Virus, also called hemorrhagic fever, is a highly contagious and often fatal disease.
Ebola is a very rare disease caused through an infection with a strain of Ebola Virus. Ebola is
spread through through direct contact with bodily fluids from a victim who already shows the
symptoms. Some common symptoms are fever, fatigue, weakness, reddened eyes, joint and muscle
pain, headache, and extreme nausea. Symptoms may become prevalent any time between 3 and 21
days. No pathologist today is altogether sure where the disease originated, However, there is
significant evidence revealing the first outbreak of this disease occurred in 1976, located in Sub
Saharan Africa. The evidence in this outbreak indicates that the source of the disease... Show more

Afghanistan has approximately 31 million citizens, making it the 42nd most populated country.
However, Afghanistan s cities are crowded and with their lack of infrastructure can lead to a rapid
spread of a virulent disease such as Ebola. This is why it is extremely important to not only stop
diseases from beginning, but also to prevent the spread of Ebola. First, it is apparent that the UN
must take a stronger stand to improve medical infrastructure in developing nations as well as states
that have been under immense economic pressures as a result from wars in the past and current
infighting/rebellions. Afghanistan proposes implementing micro consignment loans to move these

Napoleon And Satire
Charlie Chaplin and Horace do a phenomenal job entertaining and explaining the idea and use of
satire in both of their works. The satire in Horace s Book I Sat I and satire in Modern Times are
different as satire in Horace uses satire in the ideas of people such as merchants and soldiers,
while satire in Modern Times is about the things happening around the little tramp and the things
the little tramp is doing. They are also similar as they both use many types of satirical devices such
as ironyand both use humor to entertain the idea of satire.
In book I satire I, Horace begins essentially complaining about others complaining about
themselves. How come, Maecenas, no one alive s ever content with the lot he chose or the fate

Chemokine CCL19 Character Analysis
Our paper demonstrates the chemokine CCL19 play a role in behavior and expression of the
neurotransmitters. We conducted OF and RAWM to test the locomotor activity and learning and
memory. Peripheral administration CCL19 decreased the locomotor activity in the OF, but not
affect the balance and motor coordination. Animals showed no signs of illness or weight loss in
either group of treatment. The reduced locomotor activity was also seen in the EOM, which
exposed the ability of peripheral administration CCL19 to inhibit the anxiety related behaviors to
uncertain bias. Because, the result of anxiety related behaviors which showed that the open arm
time is more than the close arm time, might be resulted by the decreased locomotor activity. The

Cause And Effect Of The Arctic Sea Ice
People know that Human driven climate change (Fiona Harvey, November 25, 2017) has become
an international issue which has triggered to warm air temperature. The Arctic, the regions around
the North Pole, has huge ice. Since the more the temperature rises, the more ice melt, climate
change and the ice melt have extremely a strong connection. Furthermore, a lot of species live
below the sea of the Arctic, also there are some people who place their home in this area. As a
result, global warming leads to the change of the Arctic sea icecondition which influences the
environment and the people of the Arctic.
Arctic sea ice has responsibility for stopping the rise of temperature on the earth; however, the
expanse of the ice has been decreasing. Arctic sea ice has a significant element on the earth. The
ice plays a role of lowering the sea and air temperature like air conditioner (Stevens, F. 2016) by
reflecting the heat of the sun back to the universe. This means the ice has the ability of regulating
heat. However, the air conditioner has not been working as much as people expect. According to
Science Daily, the amount of the Arctic sea ice in 2017 has gotten smaller, 7 million square
kilometers in 1970s and 1980s to 4.7 million square kilometers, and the ice thickness has decreased
thirty percent compared to between 2001 and 2004 (Alfred Wegener Institute, September 15, 2017).
The reduction of the ice extent causes not to fulfill a function as the air conditioner In

Why Did Tesla Win The Battle For Westinghouse
Tesla went to work for Westinghouse and helped him eventually win the battle for electrical
power distribution in the US and elsewhere. Edison was hell bent to electrify everything with
DC, but found that it was very inefficient and required more generating stations over shorter
distances. But AC with its ability to be stepped up in voltage by a transformer could be
transmitted efficiently over very long distances then stepped back down to usable levels where
it was to be used. Tesla was a major player in building the first big power generating plant at
Niagara Falls, NY. In any case, he was a major player in making AC the electrical power of choice.
And despite his essential role and success, he never got rich like the Westinghouses and

The Embarrassing Moment Of A Friend Of Mine
I remember the embarrassing moment a friend of mine went through in class a few years ago,
when she had organized some chronological images on the wall. The instructor completely tore
her work apart because of her way of organization. Now in the world of design, most teachers get
very upset when the work is hung crocked on the wall. But this was not the case with my friend.
Her work was simply torn apart because of the direction she hung her pictures. Now most people
in class, including the teacher and even herself weren t aware of the fact that she simply did that
because she came from a middle eastern country where everything is organized from right to left.
But I was well familiar with this problem. In fact, I grew up learning three languages at the same
time in school. At age seven, I was learning to read and write in Persian, Assyrian, and English. In
the beginning, it would take me a minute to remember which way to start from when writing an
essay. For those of you who might not be familiar with these languages, Persian and Assyrian start
from the right side of the line moving to the left and eventually to the bottom of the page. The
numeric characters however, start from the left, and so does English. All these rights and lefts
confused me very much, and yet, when I found out that some Asian languages had a top to bottom
directionality, my mind was blown away. These conflicts made me start thinking about how the
world might seem different to an English speaker than

Compare And Contrast Stele Of Naram Sin And Hammurabi
Curstain Yarber ARTH 221 .002 HW #2 The Stele of Naram Sin and Hammurabi s Law Code are
both somewhat common steles. The Stele of Naram Sin displays a theme of power and
narrative put together on a 6 and a half foot stele made completely from pink limestone. The Law
Code is just one of the earliest written bodies of law presented on a black basalt stele. Reaching
7 feet tall the Law Code is 6 inches taller than The Stele of Naram Sin. The Stele of Naram Sin is
mainly engraved images, while the Law Code features two images and is mainly covered in
text. The images on both steles are reliefs. The Stele of Naram Sin commemorates Naram Sin s
victory over the Lullubi people of the Zagros Mountains. Soldiers are portrayed in a composite

On the Law Code Hammurabi is standing, but is not the person with the most power in the
relief. The god of Shamash is sitting, but by the look of his proportions he is a lot taller and

Hammurabi is shown as a shepherd compared to the sun god, but Naram Sin is shown as a king
in The Stele of Naram Sin. Even though Hammurabi and Naram Sin are wearing different head
dresses and clothes, they are both fairly muscular. Naram Sin wears lots of weapons, what looks
to be shoes, and a small amount of cloth to cover his lower half, while Hammurabi wears a long
piece of flowing cloth that drapes from one shoulder. The Law Code was found in 1760 BCE,
while Naram Sin s stele was found a little later 2270 BCE. They re both from the MusГ©e du
Louvre, Paris. Even though both pieces are similar because they are steles,

Political Instability in Modern African State
POLITICAL INSTABILITY IN MODERN AFRICAN STATE, CAURSE, EFFECT AND
SOLUTION
INTRODUCTION
The constant drumbeat of headlines about Darfur, Zimbabwe, Sudan, Somalia, Liberia as well as
the other states in Africa that are beleaguered by political instability have made the causes of
failed states and intra state political conflicts a major issue, both academic and practical. The
International Day of Peace which was established by a United Nation resolution in 1982, and is
marked every year on September 21, is a global event whose activities are significant in
highlighting the worldwide efforts towards conflict resolution and peace building. This day is
however more relevant to the continent of Africa where most conflicts have taken place, with ...

Despite the existence of institutional frameworks that are supposed to guide processes and delivery
on essential services, the continued weakening of these institutions, through political mechanization
and predatory nature of African elites, working in cohorts with external interests also contributes
further to the undermining of stability in Africa. These tendencies exacerbate resources wars,
ethnic rivalry, and more recently, the emergence of electoral violence as a characteristic of multi
party era elections in African. Although many events and occurrences might give the impression
that African continent is still drifting , there are also positive things taking place in the continent
and the drift needs to be analyzed from several perspectives that capture both the positive and
negative developments and what informs the direction of these developments. There are pull and
push factors, which keep shaping the internal dynamics in Africa. However, African people have
not remained static, even though there are some retrogressive tendencies. The majority, whose
perspectives are hardly captured in western media or academia, have made great leaps, in a
number of areas, including their level of political awareness and popular participation in the
political processes.

how to avoid it. It contains, the places where cyanide is found and the way humans use it to their

science behind the molecule is included. The biological functions and reactions that cyanide takes

People that survive a large dosage of cyanide might have heart, brain, and nerve damage.
Cyanide does not allow oxygen to get to the cells in the body, which killing them off. People can
get cyanide in their body by breathing air, drinking water, eating food, and touching soil that
contains it. Another major way people have cyanide enter their system, is through smoking
cigarettes and inhaling the smoke. However, there are ways to avoid cyanide. People can protect
themselves from cyanide. The first way is by leaving the area that cyanide was released, and
going outdoors to a place with cleaner air. If it is released outdoors and the person can not leave
the area, the person must stay as low to the ground as possible. This is because cyanide is less
dense than the air, causing it to go upwards in the atmosphere. If it is released indoors, leave the
building. All these instructions are from the Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response
(2013). Cyanide does have the antidote Sodium Nitrite according to field (2008). The best way
to avoid it is to be educated on where cyanide is found. Cyanide is found in multiple areas and
does not have one main source or spot that it comes from. It is found in the pits or seeds of
peaches, cherries, apricots, apples, and plums. The outer layers of the fruits contain a lower amount
of the molecule.

Apprenticeship Skills Analysis
Which key skill would you be the best at doing in an apprenticeship this summer?
I think that I would be the best at is that I work well in teams. I can easily play a part in a big
team because I am really good in some things, but I might need help with other things. In a team,
someone else who is good at the things that I am bad at can do those things while I work really
hard at the specific things that I am good at.
What do you believe would be your first real job in a professional kitchen?
I think that, if I were going to take a job in a kitchen, it would be when I am in college. I would

Yellow Wallpaper Critical Analysis
The feminist theory is an ougrowth of the general movement to empower women world wide.
Likewise to the feminist theory the short story Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perems Gillmarn
exposes the mental state of women in the late 1800s, and perharps even of the author s own
struggle with society run by men. Additionally, the three main areas of study and points of criticism
in the feminist theory, likewise to the short story exist through, the diffrences between men and

The Character of Lady Catherine de Bourgh In Pride and...
Although typically overlooked by the inattentive reader, the minor character can serve a myriad of
literary roles from adding to the overall story elements to distinguishing the character s impact on
the plot. In Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, minor characters play a paramount role in
advancing the plot, reinforcing Austen s tone, and uniquely contributing to the work as a whole.
Surprisingly, the impact of a certain minor character upon the work is illuminated as well as

Similar to the way Austen defied social standards by writing in a time of prejudice against female
authors, Elizabeth defies the traditional social conventions of marriage by refusing Mr. Collins s
proposal, as well as by ignoring Lady Catherine s demands. Elizabeth sarcastically brushes off
Lady Catherine s threats to ruin her if she accepts Darcy s proposal as heavy misfortunes (305)
and distances herself from the situation by declaring that it will have no affect on [her] (305). In
addition to advancing the plot and contributing to the theme, Lady Catherine de Bourgh provides a
satirical image of the aristocracy, as well a foil to Mrs. Bennett through her immoderate pride and
arrogance. Lady Catherine s actions and beliefs as an aristocrat extend far past acceptable
decorum to the point that her immodesty satirizes her as an archaic relic spewing only hot air.
Upon her arrival at the Bennett household, she rudely scorns the Longbourn estate by referring to
it as a very small park (302). Lady Catherine also dispraises Elizabeth s upbringing by obnoxiously
asserting that without a governess [she] must have been neglected (142). Elizabeth underscores the
hilarity of her ladyship s assumptions by assuring her that had not been the case (143). Lady
Catherine foolishly assumes that her high social status will enable her to dissuade Elizabeth from

Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) is a mental disorder where the affected feel the need to

Some people use compulsions to avoid situations that may trigger their obsessions. Although
some people do certain things over and over again, they do not necessarily perform these actions
compulsively. For example, bedtime routines, learning a new skill, and religious practices are not
compulsions. Whether or not behaviors are compulsions or mere habit depends on the context in
which the behaviors are performed. For example, arranging and ordering DVDs for eight hours a
day would be expected of one who works in a video store, but would seem abnormal in other
situations. In other words, habits tend to bring efficiency to one s life, while compulsions tend to

Symbols In The Minister s Black Veil
Minister s Black Veil is a short story written by Nathaniel Hawthorne that more or less
romanticizes the madness behind sins. In this short story, the Minister Mr. Hooper, wears a
Black Veil that hangs from his forehead which he cannot seem to explain to anyone about.
Everyone in town begins to question and wonder what the meaning behind this black veil is. As
Reverend Hooper explained to his ex fiancee, the black veil signifies a secret sin that everyone
has, but never reveals to anyone until, Judgment Day, in the sunshine of eternity, will a person s
veil be removed (Alexander, 1). I look around me, and, lo! on every visage a Black Veil!
(Hawthorne 345 ). This quote from the short storysymbolizes that perhaps everyone has their own
sins which is why they show so much fear and confusion towards the black veil that is resting on
Mr. Hooper s face. His fiancee Elizabeth believed that the black veil would cause commotion in
the eyes of the people, but Mr. Hooper refused which caused his engagement with his fiancee to
come to an end. One main symbol in the short story is irony. It is ironic that the most holiest man
in town, or at least should be, feels the need to cover his face because he feels that he has a... Show

In Mr. Hooper s funeral service he says, God is always watching, but in reality the townspeople
are always watching. Puritan towns were very small and close knit, everyone knew each other,
so if you ever misbehaved, they would know(Hawthorne, 338). That falls into appearance and
interpretation because the people of Milford, are not God, they do not know the status of the
people s soul, but they sure can judge and interpret what they see however they want. Years after
the townspeople have been watching Mr. Hooper s every move, Mr. Hooper himself had also been
watching the townspeople which is why he states in his deathbed that everybody at one point will

Mind and Hamlet
An admirable text does not define or exhaust its possibilities . What possibilities do you see in
Shakespeare s Hamlet? Discuss your ideas with close reference to at least two scenes from Hamlet.
Shakespeare s texts have been re visited, re interpreted and re invented to suit the context and
preferences of an evolving audience, and it through this constant recreation it is evident that Hamlet
does not define or exhaust its possibilities . Through the creation of a character who emulates a
variety of different themes, such as revenge, realisation of reality and the questioning of humanity,
we can see the different possibilities within Hamlet as an admirable text with enduring human
value. Furthermore, the emotional journey of Hamlet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A more definitive reading of Hamlet disputes the claim that he was mad, and instead suggests that
Hamlet feigns madness in order to become closer to the truth. This reading is an example of
Shakespeare demonstrating the changing context in Denmark through the projection of the
protagonist as an extended metaphor for the emerging Renaissance Humanism period. This period
was defined by choice and analysis of events, and is emulated through Hamlet s alliterated
statement in his soliloquy in Scene 3, Act 1, conscience makes cowards of us all. Hamlet believes
he is in a psychological state of cowardice, and that his conscience is holding him back through his
assessment of the consequences of acting on the orders of the ghost. L.C. Knight believes Hamlet
is the exploration and implicit criticism of a particular state of mind or consciousness . This
questioning on the theme of humanity and the final stage in Hamlet s complex thought process is
finally resolved in the soliloquy in Scene 4, Act 3. Hamlet s characterisation, once that of a pure
man whose mind was riddled with angst at the idea of murder shifts to a mind of bloody thoughts
as a result of his bound duty. This personified imagery is a reflection of Hamlet s now tainted mind
since the murder of Polonius, and the constant obsession with Claudius murder. Hamlet accuses
himself of thinking too precisely , and

Compulsory Military Draft
Compulsory National Service was accepted by many Americans back when the nation was
starting to become a powerhouse and wars were beginning to emerge. However, forcing young
adults to join or at least register for the military at the age of 18 or is wrong because it is against
their free will, they may have a different career path in mind that could be disrupted if a war is to
emerge and it will affect their mental state and they could be diagnosed with PTSD.
To start off, compulsory national service is when a country requires that men and women register
for the military at the age of 18. Once they are registered, if a war breaks out and their nation is in
the war, they are automatically thrown into military service without their say so. This could mean

Descriptive Essay About The Pool
Alright, kiddos, Teacher announces, we re here. Before we head into the pool, let s check. What

The short walk to the pool is a blur to Zane. His mind is elsewhere thinking of all the fun things
he s going to do, I m gonna make big splashes and race my friends and go to the deep end and do
cool things and make big splashes. When the pool finally comes into view, it s a paradise. An
ocean of clear, wavy water covers all the eye can see. Zane can see all the way to the bottom, and
if not for the distorting ripples he would believe it to be empty. The pool makes a distinct L

ages. Most are lounging around on rafts or in inner tubes, but some of the younger inhabitants are
gleefully splashing and flailing about. Multicolored balls soar through the air, descending until
forced skywards with a satisfying whack. Just as Zane had imagined, children are in competition,

Three Plans For Reconstruction Essay
Analysis of the Three Plans for Reconstruction
The American Civil War, lasting from 1861 1865, was the most severe military conflict the
country had seen; it involved the United States of America (the Union), and eleven secessionist
Southern states (the Confederate States of America). The war was the upshot of decades worth of
political, social, and economic conflict between the agricultural South, which produced mainly
cash crops such as cotton, tobacco, and sugarcane, and the industrial North. The South depended
on its four million slaves for its social and economic livelihood, whereas the North despised
slavery as immoral and illegal. Even before General Lee s surrender in 1865, the federal
government was confronted with an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the Black Codes imposed by the Southern State governments, as well as the stiff
resistance to Reconstruction, infuriated the North. The Black Codes aimed to stifle former slaves
freedom by hindering their economic options through debt peonage, sharecropping, tenant farming,
vagrancy laws, and curfews; in a phrase, slavery by another name.
Congress decided to punish the South for their continuous resistance to Reconstruction by scrapping
Johnson s failing plan, and establishing Congressional Reconstruction. Congressional
Reconstruction was by far the most vindictive, and therefore most loathsome to the South. Over the
course of ten years, Congress passed the 13th Amendment (abolishing slavery), and established the
Freedmen s Bureau in March of 1865 (providing food, medical aid, and education to freed people).
It passed the Civil Rights Act of 1866 (granting citizenship to blacks, and authorizing the federal
government to protect their rights), the 14th Amendment ratified in 1868 (solidifying the Civil
Rights Act by defining citizenship and guaranteeing equal protection under the law), and the
Reconstruction Acts in 1867. The Reconstruction Acts established Radical Reconstruction, namely
by dividing the South (excluding Tennessee) into five military districts, headed by northern
generals. Once fifty one percent of the voting population had taken an oath to the constitution, all
qualified voters (including blacks) could elect

Many employees nowadays are wishing to become mobile enterprise as it provides many benefits
in their working situation. The first advantage for employees is portability and availability. This is
when the employees has the ability to use the devices anywhere at any time they want. For

all departments have access to dynamic analytical systems, most have zero interest in utilizing it.
There have been several missed opportunities for growth on analytical competition from the

The s Genetic Information For Medical Or Cosmetic...
CGE is a way to modify one s genetic information for medical or cosmetic purposes. But in this
paper I will only consider the cosmetic purposes, since CGE for medical reasons seem to be
morally unproblematic. The main premise in this paper is that since CGE is safe, legal,
voluntary, and widely accessible, there is nothing morally problematic for someone to choose to
undergo CGE themselves or to choose it for their children. And if this premise is true, then it
would also be true that there is nothing morally problematic for engineers to design, construct, or
maintain products which are intended to enable people to engage in CGE in safe, legal, voluntary
and widely accessible ways. Firstly, I will confirm that the premise is true and how it makes the
conclusion true as well. Secondly, I will point out Sandel s arguments against the premise, which
suggest that the premise might be false. Thirdly, I would object to one of Sandel s points using my
own arguments. Then, I would point out how others, who may sympathize Sandel, may argue
against my objections. Finally, I would conclude the final judgment based on all the arguments
made.
If cosmetic genetic engineering is safe, legal, voluntary, and widely accessible, then there is
nothing morally wrong or problematic for someone to choose to undergo it because there is nothing
wrong or problematic to have great gifts such as strong big build, multi talented brain, good at ethics

The Growing Epidemic Of Childhood Obesity
Introduction The United States has seen childhood obesity rates double in children and increase
four times in adolescents since the 1980 s.1 The Center for Disease Control reports that in 2012,
over one third of children and adolescents were considered obese or overweight.1 There is an
urgent need to address the growing epidemic of childhood obesity, as obesity has been shown to
have deteriorating immediate health effects and increase the risk of chronic disease such as
diabetes, osteoarthritis and cancer in adulthood.1 Although there are many influential factors in a
child s weight, nutritionis one of the main ones to consider, as a complete and balanced diet also
promotes healthy growth and development.2 Research indicates that school encompasses a
significant portion of a child s time, cognitive, physical and social development, and as such, has
the responsibility to promote a healthy lifestyle for children.3 Because of the nationwide concern
surrounding childhood obesity, recent federal wellness policy for public schools mandate that
nutrition education, physical activity and other wellness promoting programs must be part of the
school environment.4 The purpose of this review of literature is to evaluate if school nutrition is
one of the major contributors to childhood obesity and how policy changes have affected the
problem. In 2005, the US government made a long lasting impact in the public schoolsystem when
legislation aimed at providing nutritional guidance

Canada Swot Analysis
Following the Second World War, Canada has made various efforts to improve its peacekeeping
reputation, and beginning with them joining the United Nations (UN) after its creation in 1945,
they were mostly successful. However, not all of their efforts have been successful; they have
also made some mistakes along the way. A few examples of Canada s efforts within the last 60
years include the Suez Crisis in 1956, the United Nations Mission for Rwanda from 1993 to 1996
and United Nations Operation in Somalia in 1992. One of Canada s most successful peacekeeping
missions was the Suez Crisis that occurred in October 1956. The Suez Crisis was a battle for
control of the Suez Canalwhich was a key trading route built by a French and British owned... Show

In 1990, a mainly Tutsi force named the Rwandese Patriotic Front (RPF) invaded Rwanda which
had led to a civil war (https://www.awm.gov.au/unit/U60680/). In August 1993, the Hutu
government of Rwanda and the RPF had signed the Arusha Accords to create a Hutu Tutsi joint
government and weakened Hutus power in Rwanda, along with the Accord the United Nations had
sent in the United Nations Assistance Mission for Rwanda lead by Canadian General Romeo
Dallaire. Everything was going well until April 6th, 1994 when the plane transporting Hutu
president JuvГ©nal Habyarimana was shot down and within a day fighting had begun (http:/

government and began the genocide, killing anyone that was Tutsi or looked like a Tutsi. Within
only three months around 800,000 people had been murdered (https://www.awm.gov.au/unit

immediately requested an additional 5,000 troops but had only received 2,600 which were then
reduced to a mere 500 men. It wasn t until the mainly Tutsi RPF forces overtook the Hutu
extremists and took control of the government that the genocide ended. This mission showed

Breweries In Texas
Texas is home to thirty five operating breweries, but when speaking of the cultural landscape and
the effects the breweries have had on the environment around them it is best to relate it to our
home, the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex. Going back to when breweries first got their start in Texas,
around 1860, the landscape was the one doing the influencing on the brewingculture. Because, of
the lack of refrigeration and the Texas heat, brewers were forced to only create their local brews in
the cool months. Due to the environment, lack of technological advances, and law enforcement
(prohibition), Texas breweries of the past would not have the impact that they had hoped for when
they started. The beerindustry in Texas would find life again around... Show more content on

Their presence and involvement in the community influences it s customers to give back to their
local community. The younger culture is beginning to show more involvement with giving back
to local businesses and helping them to succeed rather than big businesses that focus more on
large nationwide profit. Breweries like Rahr and Sons, sponsor local events and are popping up
at different bars and locations weekly to help, not only their own growth, but to aid in the growth
of local businesses. Another interesting idea that Rahr has begun is connecting the local
businesses. For example, one of their specialty brews of the season is a brew that is created using
a combination of ingredients from another local business, Avoca Coffee. Ideas such as this only
reinforce the idea of aiding in the local business industry and influencing locals to give to their
community and help it prosper. With so many local breweries, and their spread out location
throughout the Metroplex, it ensures that each part of the metroplex has a local brewery nearest to
them and can emerge in the community and nearby bars and

The World Of The Age Of Medi Entertainment And Relevancy
Living in the Age of Media: Entertainment and Relevancy
The significant presence of electronic media has gradually become a crisis of society s
problems. Though it seems to go unnoticed by most, the obtainment of our information that we
are receiving is a mere means of entertainment thanks to the universalization of media and
television. Postman discusses the consequences of living in a technologically advanced age by
discussing four aspects of society that are most affected: the news, religion, politics, and
education. Society has shifted from words of reason and sensibility to the epitome of trivial
media content. The general overview of television is not what gives a problematic impression on
society, but it is the loss of purpose and truth within our programs that is transforming itself into
a form of show business.
Out of the four aspects of society, politics has had the most corrupted and negative effect
towards society. Politicians are unable to express intellectual knowledge on important issues and
instead of being treated as potential leaders, they are treated similarly to celebrities. For example,
take the most recent election and varied political commercials that were broadcasted. The
promotional margin of political figures is often taken as a means of self interest, voting for the
most likeable candidate. Gone are the days of understanding and voting for Republicans or
Democratic parties. Politics are devalued into forms of imagery,

Marketing Plan for Samsung Essay
Introduction
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd has proved to the world of business that they are one of the most
advanced technology companies in terms of revenue. With more advancement in the technology
which the present market can handle at this point, Samsung has made the way for the future in
electronics industry. It is the largest mobile phone maker and television manufacturer.
Samsung s New Toy
One of the most popular new toys in the electronics market today, is the unbelievable 3D TV. First
3D TV was launched in 2010 March, and has already had a significant impact on the electronics
market (Wilson, 2010). With release earlier this year, Samsung has dominated the market,
controlling approximately 90% of the total share. One ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ability to market the brand name. Samsung has been able to position the market in such a way that
it has marketed the brand name strategically. It has been named the top rising brand by Interbrand
and is the 9th most valuable brand valued nearly $33 billion (Interbrand, 2012).
Weaknesses The Company might be able to market the product nicely or it might have been able to
get a large market share but there are certain weaknesses which the company has. Some of them are
listed below. Patent infringement. Samsung has a loose policy regarding the infringement of
patents. The company s patents were not done through a proper channel, thus ending up infringing
Apple s and other firms patents (Wikipedia, 2012). This outcome damaged Samsung s reputation
and suffered losses. Low profit margin. Samsung Electronics is the largest technology business in
the world in terms of revenue. But its low profit margin was the result of low cost of their product
and a price cut they had to endure (Wikipedia, 2012). Focus on too many products. This point could
be the strength as well as the weakness. Samsung Electronic serves many industries with many
different products in them. They lost their focus because there were competing in too many
products and too many industries, which was their disadvantage over their competitors
(Shaughnessy, 2013).
Opportunities
The technology is moving faster and faster, therefore electronics industries are still

played after every two to three songs. Spotify Premium costs €9.99 per month and has no
advertisements as well as support for offline playback. It is without a doubt that Spotify has now
become the go to place for listening and streaming music legally. Its impact on society has been
massive. Spotify now has over 75 million active users, with over 20 million of those being paying

Desire In Streetcar Named Desire
Philip C. Kolin, an English critic and author, hailed Streetcar as: the most creative new play....the
one that reveals the most talent, the one that attempts the most truth. Not surprisingly, Streetcar
quickly became a staple on the world stage, one of the major theatrical experiences and experiments
of the twentieth century (Kolin2).
Streetcar Named Desire was published just after World War II. When the play came out, the country
had just emerged from the war after struggling through the Great Depression of the 1930 s, and
suddenly the national spotlight concentrated on the lower and middle classes as the true bearers of
the heroic American spirit. Throughout much of the literature of the 1930 s and 1940 s, the focus

In a tragedy, the protagonist confronts failure, usually through fate or outside circumstances. In
this play, Blanche is the protagonist and Stanley is her antagonist who causes her tragic end or
downfall; by exposing Blanche s past and raping her. The rape was the only way that Stanley
could dominate Blanche and reduces her to his level. Blanche s Tragic Flaws include her desire
which arises because of her loneliness which she endures after her husband s tragic death, her
lack of self awareness, low self esteem, and that she has sold herself through dependence on men
(Kolin9 10). Blanch is insecure and looks in everywhere for a male protector. She hopes to find a
life for herself, including an appropriate husband; at the end of the play, she has realized the
painful truth that she cannot even get support or sympathy from her own sister Stella and brother
in law, and because of them, she will never find a husband as they put her in a mental asylum. She
has learned that Stella and Stanley, in contrast to Old Southern tradition, are totally selfish; they
adapt with their lives and cannot be disturbed with her or her problems. Indeed, they simply want
her out of their life (15).A Streetcar Named Desire is also a kind of social realism because the play
deals with many issues like immigration, class, gender roles, and power plays between

A Brief Note On The Record Of Service

The group I will use for this paper is a Friends in Grief support group I co facilitated. This group
met for five weeks with the members experiencing the similarity of the death of a loved one. The
purpose of the group was a safe place where people can come to heal by mourning, supporting,
encouraging, and expressing grief with others. This agency limits groups of this type to twelve
members to ensure that each member is comfortable in the small chapel in which the group is held
however, this group was composed of two men and six females. All group members were
Caucasian and had lost a spouse of forty plus years. Every member of the group lived in an
upscale fifty five plus community and all had retired (or retired spouse) from a distinguished
profession with pensions. Two of the female members had identifying disabilities. The youngest
female was born with a neurological disorder and the other was hard of hearing. There was one
female group member who was born and raised in Germany.
There were two prominent roles present in this group. Two of the female members never spoke
unless spoken to, making them the silent members. In the beginning of the group one of the silent
members admitted she was not comfortable in a group setting, but she promised her children she
would come due to her inability to cope with the death of her husband. The other silent member

least 40 years old, had symptoms for the past 6 months of chronic knee pain, and given confirmation
of osteoarthritis of the knee. The participants were randomly selected to one of the three groups:
conservative therapy, traditional Chinese acupuncture, or sham acupuncture. Each group received

conservative treatment group contained 316 participants who received ten consultation visits to the
practioners and given diclofenac or rofecoxibe as needed (Scharf et al., 2006). Throughout six
weeks the TCA and sham acupuncture group received ten acupunture treatments both using the
identical type of acupuncture needles. Diclofenac was also given to the particpants of the TCA and
sham acupuncture group if their pain was not at a level of comfort. There were 326 particpants in
the TCA group and 365 in the sham acupuncture group (Scharf et al., 2006). At the 13th and 26th

Strong response to Emily Andrews Why I don t Spare Spare...
Emily Andrews argues in her essay Why I Don t Spare Spare Change that it does more harm than
good to give money to beggars on the street rather than giving to an organization such as United
Way to help the needy, pointing out that one cannot be certain that one is giving to a needy
individual and that by giving to a charitable organization ones money is likely to be used wisely. I
believe Andrews has set up her essay well, her title alerting the reader of the topic, having an
attention grabbing sentence in the first paragraph starting with common phrases as poor but honest
, and having a sense of her audience, taking account of how her readers feel about her arguments.
However, I do think that she has made some problematic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Greek and Roman Concepts of Citizenship and Government The definition of citizenship in Greek
and Roman cultures can be described much differently than the current democratic definition of
contemporary nations. The Roman Empire differed from the Athenian Amphictyony and the
Assyrian Empire as well as the sunder later emperors such as Vespasian. There were also structural
problems within the government of the Roman Empire. This paper will explore the models of
government and citizenship that Ancient Roman and Greek peoples employed along with how well
they worked.

( Ancient Civilizations , 2014). They were responsible for establishing the type of government
called a republic. A republic is a type of government that expects an active role from every
citizen, not just the politicians in power. Each citizen was responsible for electing representatives
that would rule on their behalf. The citizens were the focus of the Roman Republic. The status of
a citizen evolved dramatically throughout the Roman Republic. All males over 15 that were true
descendants of the original tribe became citizens ( Ancient Civilizations , 2014). Full citizens of
Rome had many privileges such as voting, practicing commerce, holding public office, and
marrying freeborn citizens to name a few. Some citizens that were not considered full citizens
maintained some rights, but could not vote or hold office. A third type of citizen could not hold
office or marry free born women but could practice commerce and vote. Citizens rights would
change throughout the Roman republic, but the republic aspect did not change. An important
aspect of the Roman Government was the Senate. The Senate was first set up as a group of 100,
then later the Roman Kings expanded the group to 300 ( Ancient Civilizations , 2014). The senate
convened and passed laws and practiced skills that would help to persuade ruling bodies. The

Compare And Contrast The Wives Of King Henry Viii
King Henry VIII and his six wives
King Henry VIII was born June 28th, 1491 in the Palace of Placentia in London. He only
became king on April 21st,1509 at the age of 18.Through his lifetime he had six different wives
which all either died from giving birth, being beheaded or just old age. King Henry being old and
all and fat would choose girls as young as 15 to be his queen. Then again there was this law that if
you didn t do the deed then you were not officially married by law.
King Henry VIII first wife, Catherine of Aragon, the former princess of Wales and his dead older
brother Arthur s widow. She got married to King Henry VIII in June 1509 immediately after
Henry became king until 1533. Shortly after she became queen she had a daughter. She later died
from cancer in 1536, although many believed that the king himself poisoned her. This may be
because King Henry was not rather pleased with the fact that he had a daughter because he wanted
a son. Shortly before this King Henry and Catherine had got a divorce so that he could marry Anne
Boleyn. Although, the pope declined and said that he could not divorce her but did it anyway. He
thought that because he was the king he could do anything and that was final.

Miranda V Arizona
Miranda v. Arizona: Half a Century Later by: September 2nd, 2014 I. INTRODUCTION A.
Executive Summary In 1966, the U.S. Supreme Court deliberated the case Miranda v. Arizona the
most important aspect of due process and criminal procedure ever affecting law enforcement and
prosecutorial conduct of an investigation. The main issues in this case were: * The admissibility of
a defendant s statements if such statements were made while the defendant was held in police
custody or deprived of freedom of movement in a significant way; * What procedures were required
to guarantee the defendant s privilege against self incrimination according to the Fifth Amendment
of the U.S. Constitution? This case is considered the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1965, the U.S. Supreme Court was seeking one or more cases similar to Escobedo v. Illinois
to clarify their position, as its opinion in that case raised many issues regarding the safeguards
and extent of such decision. Chief Justice Earl Warren wrote the majority s opinion and Justices
Clark, Stewart, White, and Harlan presented three separate opinions. In the Court s opinion of
this case, it discussed the legal basis for their decision, emphasizing the need for changes away
from the traditional rules of custodial interrogation. This landmark case in criminal procedure
was marked by great public criticism for the liberal stance shown by the U.S. Supreme Court. It
ensures defendant s rights to what many people regarded as opening the door to convicted
criminals to escape punishment through technicalities . III. PROFESSIONAL OPINION In
Miranda v. Arizona the prosecution focused on the defendant s history with law enforcement to
support their claim that Miranda s confession was offered knowingly. At the time, Escobedo was
the only similar case regarding defendant s rights and was specific about the right to counsel.
Meanwhile in Miranda s case, his main failing was being unaware of the consequences of
confessing to a crime while under pressure or coercion of the police. The decade of 1960 has been
known for its great civil unrest in the United States. The ACLU (American Civil Liberties

However, Afghanistan s cities are crowded and with their lack of infrastructure can lead to a rapid spread of a virulent disease such as Ebola. First, it is apparent that the UN must take a stronger stand to improve medical infrastructure in developing nations as well as states that have been under immense economic pressures as a result from wars in the past and current infighting/rebellions. Napoleon And Satire Charlie Chaplin and Horace do a phenomenal job entertaining and explaining the idea and use of satire in both of their works. The satire in Horace s Book I Sat I and satire in Modern Times are different as satire in Horace uses satire in the ideas of people such as merchants and soldiers, while satire in Modern Times is about the things happening around the little tramp and the things the little tramp is doing. They are also similar as they both use many types of satirical devices such as ironyand both use humor to entertain the idea of satire. Peripheral administration CCL19 decreased the locomotor activity in the OF, but not affect the balance and motor coordination. Animals showed no signs of illness or weight loss in either group of treatment. The reduced locomotor activity was also seen in the EOM, which exposed the ability of peripheral administration CCL19 to inhibit the anxiety related behaviors to uncertain bias. Because, the result of anxiety related behaviors which showed that the open arm time is more than the close arm time, might be resulted by the decreased locomotor activity. The ... • 5. Cause And Effect Of The Arctic Sea Ice People know that Human driven climate change (Fiona Harvey, November 25, 2017) has become an international issue which has triggered to warm air temperature. The Arctic, the regions around the North Pole, has huge ice. Since the more the temperature rises, the more ice melt, climate change and the ice melt have extremely a strong connection. Furthermore, a lot of species live below the sea of the Arctic, also there are some people who place their home in this area. As a result, global warming leads to the change of the Arctic sea icecondition which influences the environment and the people of the Arctic. Arctic sea ice has responsibility for stopping the rise of temperature on the earth; however, the expanse of the ice has been decreasing. Arctic sea ice has a significant element on the earth. The ice plays a role of lowering the sea and air temperature like air conditioner (Stevens, F. 2016) by reflecting the heat of the sun back to the universe. This means the ice has the ability of regulating heat. However, the air conditioner has not been working as much as people expect. According to Science Daily, the amount of the Arctic sea ice in 2017 has gotten smaller, 7 million square kilometers in 1970s and 1980s to 4.7 million square kilometers, and the ice thickness has decreased thirty percent compared to between 2001 and 2004 (Alfred Wegener Institute, September 15, 2017). • 7. Why Did Tesla Win The Battle For Westinghouse Tesla went to work for Westinghouse and helped him eventually win the battle for electrical power distribution in the US and elsewhere. Edison was hell bent to electrify everything with DC, but found that it was very inefficient and required more generating stations over shorter distances. But AC with its ability to be stepped up in voltage by a transformer could be transmitted efficiently over very long distances then stepped back down to usable levels where it was to be used. Tesla was a major player in building the first big power generating plant at Niagara Falls, NY. In any case, he was a major player in making AC the electrical power of choice. • 8. The Embarrassing Moment Of A Friend Of Mine I remember the embarrassing moment a friend of mine went through in class a few years ago, when she had organized some chronological images on the wall. The instructor completely tore her work apart because of her way of organization. Now in the world of design, most teachers get very upset when the work is hung crocked on the wall. But this was not the case with my friend. Her work was simply torn apart because of the direction she hung her pictures. Now most people in class, including the teacher and even herself weren t aware of the fact that she simply did that because she came from a middle eastern country where everything is organized from right to left. But I was well familiar with this problem. In fact, I grew up learning three languages at the same time in school. At age seven, I was learning to read and write in Persian, Assyrian, and English. In the beginning, it would take me a minute to remember which way to start from when writing an essay. For those of you who might not be familiar with these languages, Persian and Assyrian start from the right side of the line moving to the left and eventually to the bottom of the page. The numeric characters however, start from the left, and so does English. All these rights and lefts confused me very much, and yet, when I found out that some Asian languages had a top to bottom directionality, my mind was blown away. These conflicts made me start thinking about how the world might seem different to an English speaker than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On the Law Code Hammurabi is standing, but is not the person with the most power in the relief. The god of Shamash is sitting, but by the look of his proportions he is a lot taller and bigger than Hammurabi and he also has a horned helmet on while Hammurabi just has a cap. Hammurabi is shown as a shepherd compared to the sun god, but Naram Sin is shown as a king in The Stele of Naram Sin. Even though Hammurabi and Naram Sin are wearing different head dresses and clothes, they are both fairly muscular. Naram Sin wears lots of weapons, what looks to be shoes, and a small amount of cloth to cover his lower half, while Hammurabi wears a long piece of flowing cloth that drapes from one shoulder. The Law Code was found in 1760 BCE, while Naram Sin s stele was found a little later 2270 BCE. They re both from the MusГ©e du Louvre, Paris. The International Day of Peace which was established by a United Nation resolution in 1982, and is marked every year on September 21, is a global event whose activities are significant in highlighting the worldwide efforts towards conflict resolution and peace building. Despite the existence of institutional frameworks that are supposed to guide processes and delivery on essential services, the continued weakening of these institutions, through political mechanization and predatory nature of African elites, working in cohorts with external interests also contributes further to the undermining of stability in Africa. These tendencies exacerbate resources wars, ethnic rivalry, and more recently, the emergence of electoral violence as a characteristic of multi party era elections in African. Although many events and occurrences might give the impression that African continent is still drifting , there are also positive things taking place in the continent and the drift needs to be analyzed from several perspectives that capture both the positive and negative developments and what informs the direction of these developments. There are pull and push factors, which keep shaping the internal dynamics in Africa. However, African people have not remained static, even though there are some retrogressive tendencies. The first way is by leaving the area that cyanide was released, and going outdoors to a place with cleaner air. If it is released outdoors and the person can not leave the area, the person must stay as low to the ground as possible. This is because cyanide is less dense than the air, causing it to go upwards in the atmosphere. If it is released indoors, leave the building. All these instructions are from the Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response (2013). Cyanide does have the antidote Sodium Nitrite according to field (2008). The best way to avoid it is to be educated on where cyanide is found. Cyanide is found in multiple areas and does not have one main source or spot that it comes from. It is found in the pits or seeds of peaches, cherries, apricots, apples, and plums. The outer layers of the fruits contain a lower amount of the molecule. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Elizabeth sarcastically brushes off Lady Catherine s threats to ruin her if she accepts Darcy s proposal as heavy misfortunes (305) and distances herself from the situation by declaring that it will have no affect on [her] (305). In addition to advancing the plot and contributing to the theme, Lady Catherine de Bourgh provides a satirical image of the aristocracy, as well a foil to Mrs. Bennett through her immoderate pride and arrogance. In this short story, the Minister Mr. Hooper, wears a Black Veil that hangs from his forehead which he cannot seem to explain to anyone about. Everyone in town begins to question and wonder what the meaning behind this black veil is. As Reverend Hooper explained to his ex fiancee, the black veil signifies a secret sin that everyone has, but never reveals to anyone until, Judgment Day, in the sunshine of eternity, will a person s veil be removed (Alexander, 1). A more definitive reading of Hamlet disputes the claim that he was mad, and instead suggests that Hamlet feigns madness in order to become closer to the truth. This period was defined by choice and analysis of events, and is emulated through Hamlet s alliterated statement in his soliloquy in Scene 3, Act 1, conscience makes cowards of us all. Hamlet believes he is in a psychological state of cowardice, and that his conscience is holding him back through his assessment of the consequences of acting on the orders of the ghost. L.C. The war was the upshot of decades worth of political, social, and economic conflict between the agricultural South, which produced mainly cash crops such as cotton, tobacco, and sugarcane, and the industrial North. Congress decided to punish the South for their continuous resistance to Reconstruction by scrapping Johnson s failing plan, and establishing Congressional Reconstruction. At this point, 20% of the Hero team can dynamically use the analytics we currently offer. For example, 2015 was the first year that we, as an operations and sales team, had a dynamic forecasting plan. We took the top customers making up 80% of our annual revenue and projected out their volume by SKU, by month and kept a rolling 12 months of inventory planning based on each customer s growth objectives. Putting this plan together resulted in an out of stock liability improvement of 15% and actual sales were within 1% of budget projections. This project, a huge jump in our planning procedures, was completely facilitated by three people in our organization that employs over fifty people. The issues above directly tie in to the second pillar of Enterprise Wide Analytics. Although all departments have access to dynamic analytical systems, most have zero interest in utilizing it. But in this paper I will only consider the cosmetic purposes, since CGE for medical reasons seem to be morally unproblematic. The main premise in this paper is that since CGE is safe, legal, voluntary, and widely accessible, there is nothing morally problematic for someone to choose to undergo CGE themselves or to choose it for their children. And if this premise is true, then it would also be true that there is nothing morally problematic for engineers to design, construct, or maintain products which are intended to enable people to engage in CGE in safe, legal, voluntary and widely accessible ways. Firstly, I will confirm that the premise is true and how it makes the conclusion true as well. Secondly, I will point out Sandel s arguments against the premise, which suggest that the premise might be false. Thirdly, I would object to one of Sandel s points using my own arguments. Then, I would point out how others, who may sympathize Sandel, may argue against my objections. Finally, I would conclude the final judgment based on all the arguments made. If cosmetic genetic engineering is safe, legal, voluntary, and widely accessible, then there is nothing morally wrong or problematic for someone to choose to undergo it because there is nothing wrong or problematic to have great gifts such as strong big build, multi talented brain, good at ethics class and many more. Though it seems to go unnoticed by most, the obtainment of our information that we are receiving is a mere means of entertainment thanks to the universalization of media and television. Postman discusses the consequences of living in a technologically advanced age by discussing four aspects of society that are most affected: the news, religion, politics, and education. Society has shifted from words of reason and sensibility to the epitome of trivial media content. The general overview of television is not what gives a problematic impression on society, but it is the loss of purpose and truth within our programs that is transforming itself into a form of show business. Out of the four aspects of society, politics has had the most corrupted and negative effect towards society. The Roman Empire differed from the Athenian Amphictyony and the Assyrian Empire as well as the sunder later emperors such as Vespasian. A republic is a type of government that expects an active role from every citizen, not just the politicians in power. Each citizen was responsible for electing representatives that would rule on their behalf. The citizens were the focus of the Roman Republic. The status of a citizen evolved dramatically throughout the Roman Republic. All males over 15 that were true descendants of the original tribe became citizens ( Ancient Civilizations , 2014). Full citizens of Rome had many privileges such as voting, practicing commerce, holding public office, and marrying freeborn citizens to name a few. Some citizens that were not considered full citizens maintained some rights, but could not vote or hold office. A third type of citizen could not hold office or marry free born women but could practice commerce and vote. Citizens rights would change throughout the Roman republic, but the republic aspect did not change. An important aspect of the Roman Government was the Senate. The Senate was first set up as a group of 100, then later the Roman Kings expanded the group to 300 ( Ancient Civilizations , 2014). Arizona the most important aspect of due process and criminal procedure ever affecting law enforcement and prosecutorial conduct of an investigation. Illinois to clarify their position, as its opinion in that case raised many issues regarding the safeguards and extent of such decision. Chief Justice Earl Warren wrote the majority s opinion and Justices Clark, Stewart, White, and Harlan presented three separate opinions. In the Court s opinion of this case, it discussed the legal basis for their decision, emphasizing the need for changes away from the traditional rules of custodial interrogation. This landmark case in criminal procedure was marked by great public criticism for the liberal stance shown by the U.S. Supreme Court. It ensures defendant s rights to what many people regarded as opening the door to convicted criminals to escape punishment through technicalities . III. PROFESSIONAL OPINION In Miranda v. Arizona the prosecution focused on the defendant s history with law enforcement to support their claim that Miranda s confession was offered knowingly. At the time, Escobedo was the only similar case regarding defendant s rights and was specific about the right to counsel. Meanwhile in Miranda s case, his main failing was being unaware of the consequences of confessing to a crime while under pressure or coercion of the police.
