Descriptive Essay On Crystal Cave
Crystal Cave Crystal Cave is full of life. My favorite vacation was the time my family and I went to
Pennsylvania s Crystal Cave. Crystal Cave is one of Pennsylvania s most famous tourist attractions,
which was discovered in 1881. Crystal Cave was once completely submerged underwater and was
formed by an earthquake. It was July 2017, that my family and I were staying in a hotel room in
Pennsylvania. We had many things planned for this trip, so we always had something to do. One of the
places I saw we were going to was a cave called Crystal Cave. I had no knowledge of this cave, so I
didn t know what to expect. But I had remembered the last cave I went to here, Penns Cave. I loved
that place, I was fascinated there. So I told my family that I wanted to go to Crystal Cave, so we
packed some things and went.
When we first arrived there, the showed us a 4 5 minute video about Crystal Cave. I learned that the
cave was founded in 1881 by two brothers, William and George Vanasse. I also learned that they had
both carved their names in the walls of the cave and you can still see them right now. But Crystal Cave
wasn t just a normal cave that you explore in, back then, people used it for weddings, parties, etc. The
room where they held these events is still fully functional, so you can still go in there, but I don t think
you can have a party in there anymore. When we finally got into the cave, our tour guide told us that
there are colonies of brown bats living in the cave, but they have their own part of the cave, so you can
t bother them. It was cold in the cave, so everyone wore a sweatshirt. We also saw many different rock
formations such as animals, ice cream, and even one that looks like Donald Duck! There were many
glistening and shining crystals that William and George had thought were diamonds, but they were
just a very common crystal. They had a cave formation that you could touch. The tour guide called
them rotten eggs because they looked like eggs that had been dropped and never cleaned up. When I
touched them, they were smooth and moist, yet somehow warm and lumpy. They had a rare rock
formation, a column! A column is created when a stalactite and a stalagmite combine together form
one long pillar. These

The Case Of Prince Edward County, Virginia, By Melvin...
In Israel on the Appomattox author Melvin Patrick Ely uses the case study of Prince Edward County,
Virginia, to shift the historiography surrounding the treatment of free blacks in the Antebellum South.
While the current historiography paints the Antebellum South as attempting to subjugate free blacks
into a system as near to slaver as possible (p. 437), Ely posits that because of the existence of black
slavery Southern whites felt secure enough to deal fairly and even respectfully with free African
Americans (p. x). And though Ely agrees that laws and public statements about free blacks in the Old
South constitute a sordid parade of mean spiritedness (p. 436), the actual behavior of white citizens of
Prince Edward County rarely align with the path their social ideology prescribed (p. 440). In going
against the previously well established understanding of the relationship between free blacks and
whites, Ely has placed upon himself the large onus of disproving so many who have come before him,
and the approach he takes within Israel on the Appomattox is as fascinating as it is convincing. Ely s
window into the world of free blacks in Prince Edward County was made possible by Richard
Randolph, who, in his will, freed his approximately ninety slaves and set aside for them a four
hundred acre plot of land which would become known as Israel Hill (p. 7). The majority of Randolph
s slaves would have to wait fourteen years after his death in 1796 to attain their promised

The Impact Of Social Media On Overtime Americans
Overtime Americans has always been searching for happiness, but many of them struggle to find the
happiness they truly want. Happiness is the quality or the state of being happy. Sometimes we struggle
to find happiness due to technology, money and perfectionist.
Today technology has impacted society both positively and negatively by reducing face to face social
interaction. Our cellphones allows us to post personal information, pictures, and post comments
anonymously. Anything posted online can be seen by anyone at any given time, and can remain online
forever. Social media has also became a distraction to both young teens and adults Social media is a

Perfectionist is a person who refuses to accept any standard short perfection. Being perfect can be very
addicting to some. America believes that if you do something better than others you will be happy, and
now stop trying. What people lack to understand is that once one has started a standard of
perfectionist, you now want more for yourself. Wanting more for yourself means people will go above
and beyond to do so. People strive to be perfect to avoid judgement, shame and blame. To avoid being
judged, shamed or blamed people concluded they will do things such as eating less, adding more
makeup, working out more etc. Today s society promotes how we should look, weigh and how much
we should eat on the daily. What does not bring happiness should be removed ( Don t be afraid to
remove who are negative (Shah, 2013, para. 11). In this quote Shah states that all are negative should
be removed. Removing negative aspects is a good start because things that weigh down are no good.

When the Republic of Senegal, formerly part of French West Africa (Mauritania, Senegal, Mali,
French Guinea, Côte d Ivoire, Upper Volta, Burkina Faso, Benin and Niger), gained its independence
on June 20, 1960, Léopold Senghor became the country s first president. There were several key
events that postured him to be the right person at the right time, as he took his position of the
presidency. Léopold Senghor s route to the presidency can be divided into four phases: Colonialism,
Négritude, World War II, and Political positions.

a reality attributed to his work on the Monnerville Commission. He became a member of the French
Socialist Party (SFIO) and within 16 hours, he was nominated to compete for the position of Deputy
to the French National Constituent Assembly. His nomination was met with opposition because he
lived in Paris for 17 years and Senegalese did not see him as a True African . He, however, had
support from the well respected, Lamine Guèye (Mayor of Dakar and leader of the SFIO), who, was
running for top position of two deputy positions and they were both successful in their campaigns to
serve in these positions. Guèye supported Senghor, to serve as his Second Deputy to represent the
leaders of the interior, because he thought Senghor would be able to impress the French, therefore
having a certain amount of political clout to work in Senegal s favor for future policies, etc. Senghor,
later, was at odds with Guèye because Senghor believed that cultural matters should take

Teens Should Not Have Curfew Laws
Although some people may disagree, curfews for towns could be very inflicting on everyone. This
would ruin the freedom that teenagers may need. It could be disastrous if there was a curfew for many
towns and cities, it would most likely be even worse than before.
First and foremost, many teens are out at night doing things and going places. They deserve the right
to be able to be out at night and not have leave at a certain time. When the family or community
strictly imposes curfew law, kids are expected to observe it without question to avoid punishment.
This may be a very hard for some kids and it could just overall be a difficult thing to obey by.
Teenages should not have to worry about not getting to a certain place because of curfew. ... Show

This discriminates young individuals who may need to do extra work to support their family and
themselves. In the same way, authorities outright categorize those who do stay out beyond the curfew
limit as delinquents or violators. This would play a very important factor in why towns should not
have a curfew. It would not only be hurting one teen but many and their families.
In contrast, driving and hanging out during later night hours could put teens in risky situations.
Driving or traveling at night may impose greater dangers than traveling at daytime. In addition, curfew
keeps them away from temptations such as drug use, violent acts, heavy partying, and alcohol intake.
Which some of these could possibly reduce the risk of automobile accidents and injuries that may
result in that. They are both very different yet understandable points of views.
Even though there are the pros of town curfews, the cons can t be forgotten. The situations that some
teenagers and families may be in could contribute to them. It would be very dissatisfying if a town

Hellenistic Funerary Iconography Essay
In this essay, we are going to discuss how the Hellenistic funerary iconography is different from the
Classical period. Due to the space limitation, we will only focus on grave stela and tomb funerary
monuments. The conclusion is that the stele s characteristics change considerably through the time,
and the pictures inside the funerary tombs evolve to have the typical features of the paintings from the
Hellenistic period. The period we will be looking at goes from the start of the Classical period, in the
5th century BC, until the end of the Hellenistic period, the year 31 BC. We will see how the
characteristics of the stelae and the tombs changed, and how some characteristics remained quite
similar. It was decided to only work with those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

it is possible to see some patterns that happened in different places around the same period. The stele

represent certain aspects in the graves were also different. The first important change we are going to
look at is the size and shape of the stele. Starting in Asia Minor and Aegean Greece , the stele started
to become smaller than the ones that we see in the Classical period. Both in the Classic and Hellenistic
period, the deceased are represented in the grave. One important difference is that in the Hellenistic
ones, the people are below a naiskos , which is a temple with columns at both sides. This way the stele

practice during the Hellenistic period. Some have inscriptions in the upper part of the grave and they

Syariah prohibits the fixed or floating payment or acceptance of specific interest or fees (known as
Riba or usury) for loans of money. The word Riba means excess, increase or addition, which
according to Syariah terminology, implies any excess compensation without due consideration
(consideration does not include time value of money). However, these principles may have been
applied to historical Islamic economies and in the late 20th century that a number of Islamic banks
were formed to apply these principles to private or semi private commercial institutions within the
Muslim community.
In early Islamic banking, a number of economic concepts and techniques were applied, including bills
of exchange, partnership (mufawada) such as limited partnerships (mudaraba), and forms of capital (al

loaning, ledgers and assignments. Organizational enterprises independent from the state also existed in
the medieval Islamic world, while the agency institution was also introduced during that time. Many
of these early capitalist concepts were adopted and further advanced in medieval Europe from the 13th

of consistent future growth. Islamic banks have more than 300 institutions spread over 51 countries,

Ethics and Privatization of Public Systems Essay
Ethics problems of privatizing water supply services. Paper submitted for Ethics class, with good
reseach on Chinese market.
Privatization of public systems has been going on in both developed and developing countries for
many years, maybe with more strength on developing countries in the last decade because of their
higher reliance on public companies.
The inefficiency of many public companies and its burden to the countries bearing them has been
probably the reason most commonly used to justify them. Other reasons have also been: expertise of
the private companies, fewer capital funds needed to start the project (in case of new projects) and less
resources needed from the government to control the day to day operations from the ... Show more

For improving the economic results of a firm there are two possibilities a) reducing costs b) increasing
revenues:
a) Reducing costs: This is normally attained in two ways for water companies, utilizing more efficient
modern equipment which per se doesn t imply any ethical problem (but this has an attached higher
investment cost) or reducing labor cost, which could lead to difficult decisions.
Another way of reducing costs, for new projects that require building infrastructure, is by supplying
water only to the sector of the people who can afford paying for the services. The layering of the pipe
network is a very expensive part of the construction of a new water supply system, and thus private
companies could save money by not supplying areas were water consumption is low, or were they
expect to have difficulties collecting the fees.
b) Increasing revenues: to raise the prices of water supply to customers. This has two ethical issues
bound:
a. First, the reduction of the access to water to lower income users due to its higher cost, or at least the
reduction of the amount of water they can use.
b. The quick rise of prices of water before the quality of supply is improved can confuse and irate the
consumers.
Seeing the ethical issues that will arise to private companies in charge of supplying water to people,
should they be left alone to take the

Essay On Alaska
Budget and Economy in Alaska Located in the Northwest limit of the United States of America
(USA), Alaska is the largest state of the US. Despite its big dimension, it is one of the least populated
states due its cold weather. Most of Alaska s economy comes from its natural resources. The fishing,
natural gas, and oil industries dominate it almost 85% of its budget comes from oil and gas revenues.
Alaska also provides half of the nation s coal reserves, and has one of the largest silver and zinc
mines. However, most of its resources are undeveloped due to its remote location and lack of
infrastructure as mentioned in the ground truth trekking website. The industry directly employs around

Many regulations and measures have been passed to reduce pollution and control the use of natural
resources nationally as well as internationally. Most of the states and countries are also concerned
about the emission of carbon. Producing oil is also becoming less and less expensive thus making less
appealing to produce oil in Alaska where building a drill is more expensive. In addition, the ongoing
increase of the electric and more fuel efficient cars demand has a major impact on the oil industry.
This will result in a decrease of oil price and its demand. The best alternative for Alaska will be to
diversify its source of income and not just heavily depend on oil money. Since Alaska is donated with
many natural resources, Alaska can take advantage of it to develop its economy. Firstly, Alaska can
shift its focus from oil and gas to coal. About 30% of the US coal is in Alaska. However, most of the
coal is in the Arctic Circle and therefore hard to access. If Alaska invest in power plants and in
innovating technology that will allow to safely dig for coal in the far North, Alaska will considerably
increase its revenues given the high demand of coal here and all over the world. Alaska will also have
to do a research to effectively localize al the coal available in the state and the best to get to it. It also
must comply to the state regulations as well as

Essay on Comparing Hinduism and Buddhism
Comparing Hinduism and Buddhism
While Hinduism and Buddhism come from the same cultural backgrounds, they are extremely diverse
in their beliefs on afterlife, deity, and rituals. Both religions believe in reincarnation, but it is where an
individual goes after he or she gets off the endless cycle that differs. These religions also part when it
comes to whom they do or do not worship. Every religion comes with rituals and Hinduism and
Buddhism are no exceptions.
Hindu followers have no doubt they go to moksha after they accomplish redemption, but Buddhists
believe that the main goal is to achieve nirvana in the afterlife. A Hindu can conquer redemption by
living a life of asceticism. After becoming a Sadhu, or holy man, and renouncing ... Show more

The Eight Fold Path essentially states pupils should have the right knowledge, speech, aspirations,
behavior, livelihood, efforts, mindfulness, and know self concentration. Following the Eight Fold Path
leads to achieving nirvana.
Another distinction between Hinduism and Buddhism is their concepts of deity. Although Hinduism
claims to be a monotheistic religion, worshiping only Brahma Nerguna, Hindus worship 33 million
other gods that are aspects of Brahma Nerguna. Some of the most common gods or aspects are
Ganesha, Vishnu, and Shiva. Ganesha is the god of good luck, Vishnu is the god of families, health,
and children, and Shiva is the destroyer. Buddhism has different branches that seem to contradict its
original teachings. Some Buddhists worship Buddha, while the remainder of Buddhist think of
Buddha as just a man and follow his teachings.
An additional polarity of Hindus and Buddhists are their unique rituals and practices. The most
fundamental ceremonies for every Hindu are those that involve the rites of passage. These begin with
the first time a child eats solid food. The last rites are the funeral ceremonies and the yearly offerings
to dead ancestors. Rotating prayer wheels is a ritual of Tibetan Buddhists. The prayer wheels have
inscribed mantras or sacred chants. The wheel is believed to release benevolent forces and acquire
merit for the worshipper.
Hinduism and Buddhism have a variety of different beliefs. In Hinduism you become one

English And Social Studies Class
Everyone s eyes were on the whiteboard as my teacher began writing what we all dreaded. The fourth
hour bell had just rung in my 10th grade honors English class, and I was just as nervous as my
classmates as I read out the words on the board. It was time for our In class essay test , which our
teacher announced would be given out randomly this week. The notion of writing essays for the class
never made me worried, but the fact that this one would be written in class and completely graded on
grammar usage concerned me, along with my classmates. My teacher fixed his glasses and began
setting the timer, after handing out the news story that we were tasked to write about. I took a deep
breath and began writing, hoping for the best. A week after that hour of painstaking writing, I was
surprised to find that I got a perfect score. That event first opened my eyes to the types of classes I
shine in. I predominantly succeed in English and social studies class. I attribute my success to the
nature of the classes, my study habits in those classes, my relationship with teachers and students in
the class, and, above all, my family pushing me along the way. The first factor I noticed that helped
me thrive in English and social studies classes is how they are usually structured. One of the unique
characteristics of these classes was that they were discussion based classes. Along with being able to

Urbanisation is the increase proportion of people living in towns and cities. It is the outcome of social,
economic and political developments that lead to urban concentration and growth of large cities,
changes in land use and transformation from rural to metropolitan pattern of organization and

At the very beginning of the film when we see the aged Private Ryan making his way towards the

The Caribbean History
Derek Walcott and Jean Rhys both have texts that use the fragments of the Caribbean history to create
their texts. Walcott has mentioned in many essays and interviews how important it is for the artist to
not become disillusioned and bitter about history. Rather, artists should make use of these fragments of
European, African, and native Arawak/Amerindian, to reinvent and create a voice that entails all of
those influences.
Walcott redefines and reinvents the literary epic in Omeros and Rhys challenges the ignored narrative
of Bertha/Antoinette in Wide Sargasso Sea. In Omeros, I propose on demonstrating how Walcott uses
Helen as a symbol of the St. Lucia and how her struggle represents the struggle of the island. I will
investigate the images of the victimized Helen of Troy in contrast with this Antillean Helen who,
rather than a victim, is the seducer of the men, and resists the domination of the men and the effects of
colonialism. This gives Helen a tremendous amount of power. She represents the beauty and desire
through which the men of St. Lucia define themselves. I will zoom in on how Walcott uses Helen
through her resistance of the influences of New World and the tourism to show how the natives still
try to hold on to their traditions and strive to create their own identities in an environment that is
constantly causing the natives to reinvent themselves to suit the colonizers and tourists. Walcott uses

Khrushchev Berlin 1961 Summary
Frederick Kempe s biography Berlin 1961 explores the events leading up to and following the
construction of the Berlin Wall in August of 1961. The biography discusses both the American point of
view as well as the Soviet point of view. Most striking, however, is the factors discussed by
Khrushchev in his perspective in the reasoning behind building the Berlin Wall. In the Soviet
perspective, the Berlin Wall was a preventative measure that simply kept the East German government
from collapsing. Khrushchev recognized that the East German government was struggling on its own
and by identifying the factors causing this economic strife, he composed a plan that would reduce the

For example, while on route to Novosibirsk for a conference with American delegates, Khrushchev
could see the failings of the Communist system in the agricultural development of the USSR. By
observing the statistics from the farms, Khrushchev was able to see the shortcomings of his own
government s plans for development in comparison to the booming economies of the west. This
evidence of the failure of Communism only fueled Khrushchev s contempt for western progression.
Most of the documents procured by the Soviet government regarding the agricultural production for
the year were falsified and overly optimistic. The state was failing to reach its optimistic goals for
agricultural production by trying to upstage the United States and other western capitalist countries in
an attempt to intimidate them and prove to the rest of the world that Communism was not a failing
political system. One of the most evident examples of this is in the instance of the Vienna conference
between Khrushchev and Kennedy. In West Berlin, weather was pleasant and individuals are able to
enjoy the sunny summer day in which the conference took place. This contrasts East Berlin, in which
its residents are going through a bread shortage and are instead celebrating the communist youth
organization. This stark contrast between

Analysis Of A Song Of Despair By Pablo Neruda
In the poem A Song of Despair Pablo Neruda chronicles the reminiscence of a love between two
characters, with the main speaker s perspective showing the changes between their relationship from a
once fruitful, to a now broken relationship. From this Neruda attempts to showcase the significance of
contrasting imagery to demonstrate the speaker s various emotions felt throughout the experience.
This contrasting imagery specifically develops the reader s understanding of abandonment, sadness,
change, and memory. The significant language features Neruda uses to accomplish this include:
similes, nautical imagery, floral imagery, and apostrophe. Firstly Neruda uses contrasting imagery of
difficulty to represent the speakers troubled relationship. This is presented using diction in the
quotation How terrible and brief my desire of you! How difficult and drunken, how tensed and avid.
From the words terrible and brief the feeling of a short, abysmal experience can be seen. This is paired
with the verb desire which suggests a longing, or wanting for something, subsequently referring to the
sexual desire of the speaker s past relationship . As a desire is typically wanted for, pairing it with a
short, horrible experience shows the significance of contrasting imagery used by Neruda to show the
drastic change of emotions which is a consequence of their troubled relationship. This is continued as
Neruda describes the desire using alliteration in the phrase difficult and

The Importance Of The Bill Of Rights
The United States Constitution is one the most critical documents for the United States. The
Constitution entrenched America s national government and crucial laws, and assured specific key
rights for citizens. James Madison wrote the first draft of the Bill of Rights, taking many ideas from a
few sources including Virginia s Declaration of Rights and the English Bill of Rights. It endured many
revisions before it was ratified. Within the Constitution is the Bill of Rights, which are the first 10
amendments in the Constitution. The original Constitution that was ratified in 1787 did not include a
Bill of Rights, it was not until 1791 that was it was ratified. Despite its ongoing controversy regarding
the actual intentions of some religious groups in America, the most important right in the Bill of
Rights is freedom of religion. This right or freedom prevents our government from forcing citizens to
practice one uniform religion, allows for religion to be involved at work, and encourages diversity
within the United States.
Freedom of religion The First Amendment of the Constitution prevents the government from
establishing an official religion of the country. Citizens have the freedom to attend a church, mosque,
temple, or other place of worship they choose. They can also choose to not be involved in any religion
as well. The first amendment is the reason we can practice any religion we d like. Freedom is an
essential part of the United States; therefore, freedom of religion

Kello V. City Of New London Summary

Professor Sorensen
Little Pink House Assignment Eminent domain is the right of a government to seize and control
private property in return for compensation if it s specific purpose is for the greater good of the
community as a whole. The Little Pink House is a book that gives an example of a major court case
related to eminent domain from a journalistic account. The case of Kelo v. City of New London is the
most famous case of condemnation in the history of the nation. The book tells the inspirational true
story of Susette Kelo and her battle with the city of New London. Susette Kelo is woman who had
recently came out of a long term marriage and purchased a rundown, waterfront, Victorian home in
New London, Connecticut. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The project was unable to obtain investments and its plans were abandoned in the end. The promises
of new jobs and an increased tax revenue were all forsaken. Today, the property that was once a
neighborhood for families, is a vacant property with no beneficial purpose to the community that it
was meant to serve. American s view of eminent domain, because of the Susette Kelo case, have
changed dramatically since seeing the results from the economic project in New London. More
Americans believe that eminent domain should only be exercised in the case of benefiting the public
and not for the purpose of advancing economic activities of private parties. The case of Kelp V. New
London explains how important it is as public administrators to view and interpret policies to make
better decisions on how the process of implementation can better serve the needs of society for the

The Importance Of Conflict In Group Counseling
n references to Jaclyn s post, I concur with her based on her assertion that Conflict in group
counseling settings is almost always inevitable. However, it is important to take note of the
proficiency and the aptitudes of the counselor involved in the cause both at personal and professional
levels. Despite the diverse disparities and the extent of antagonism between or among the conflicting
parties, it is very important for the counselor never to take sides, but rather give both/all parties neutral
treatment or attention; this will help bringing the conflicting parties at par as far as emotions are
concerned thus, ready for the counselor s intercession, and subsequently discourse and mutual
consensus (Jacobs, et al. 2016 ). Based on an encounter I once had as a conflict mediator between
couples, who also happened to be my relatives, I realized that conflicting persons when undergoing
counseling, more often that not, harbor and exhibit wide ranging emotional and even physical
behaviors, this is to expose the opponents course of action(s) while veiling theirs. They want to show
that they are the victims of the situation, and therefore they should be granted justice, or ruling should
be done to their favor. This process, that is, conflict resolution/counseling within a group setting, calls
for utmost sobriety and vigilance by the counselor so that he/she is not carried away by the different
and confusing behaviors and sentiments of the conflicting parties.

Examine and Assess the Usefulness of One of the Following...
Examine and assess the usefulness of one of the following theories of crime and deviance in terms of
explaining crime and the social problems in modern society.
A subculture is a cultural subgroup. They are considered opposite from the mainstream culture
because of their uniqueness. They form when the mainstream culture fails to meet the needs of a
particular group of people. Subculture theories primarily focus on crime and Juvenile delinquency.
Theorists believe that if this pattern of offending can be understood and controlled then it will break
the transition from teenage offender into habitual criminal. Some of the theories which will be
discussed today are developed from functionalism assuming that criminal activity is motivated by ...

Figures from the Crime survey for England and Wales have shown that 2.1 million violent incidents
were recorded in 2011/2012. It s been estimated that young people aged 10 17 were responsible for
23% of police recorded crime. In 2010 equivalent to just over a million police recorded crimes.
Considering other theorists who studied subcultures was Richard Cloward and Lloyd Ohlin. Cloward
was an American Sociologist and an activist. He influenced the strain theory of criminal behavior.
Lloyd Ohlin was an American sociologist and criminologist who taught at Harvard law school,
Columbia University and the university of Chicago. Over his career he studied the causes and effects
of crime and punishment, especially as it related to youthful offenders and delinquents. This is seen as
a functional perspective of subcultural behavior. Many working class youths who cannot gain status
legitimately, become frustrated and therefore try to gain status through illegitimate. They create their
own subculture and reject the norms and values of mainstream society. Richard Clowen in 1961 said,
The boy who joins a gang isn t in a rut. He has aspirations, but no place to go with them . Both
theorists argue that delinquency resulted from the irresponsibility of youths as a symptom of poverty
and the lack of alternative opportunities caused by poverty. The conditions underlying delinquency
could be resolved through social programs in local communities that will help address the

Ageism In The Workplace Essay
Ageism is the discrimination of people based on their old or young. There will always be someone
who is working at the same company that is either older or younger than you, doesn t matter if its only
by a few months or years. Both people are at the company to do a job. At a local dermatologist, the
story will follow to medical assistants almost 30 years apart in age. Their job is to help bring back
patients and assist the doctor or physicians assistant. Although the government has worked to
eliminate ageism in the workforce, prejudices based on age are still present and scene in day to day

Si-Cology 101 Themes
Do you know the Robertson s? Si Cology 101 by Si Robertson and Mark Schalberg is a very well
known comedy book to read about the Robertson s. This is a great book to sit down and read at night
before bed. Si really put his heart in this and wrote extraordinary adventures and stories you didn t
know about the Robertson s. Si writes about his life growing up as a Robertson as a child with his
brothers. Then he moved onto his academics in college, but those did not go to well for him. Uncle
Sam came next with the letter as how he met his wife for being drafted. Quack quack quack oh wait
the duck commanders are coming up too. I highly recommend the book; because of the way it makes
you laugh and smile while reading it. The way Uncle Si writes about his family and God, make it an

Chapter one explains how him and his brothers were hunting when he was 5 years old. The novel
states, Take your little brother with you, (Robertson 29). Mama Robertson would tell Phil and Tommy
that whenever they left the house. This quote shows he is close to his family because he s been with
them as long as he can remember and does everything with them. Silas Robertson is a true family man
he makes tough decisions to make his family happy. The novel explains, Trasa was in her senior year
of highschool, and we made the difficult decision to leave our seventeen year old daughter with
coworkers and friends in Germany (Robertson 167). This quote shows Si has a special love for his
family because he left his daughter in Germany to finish school because he knew it was for the better,
because he s done that before and did not want to do that to his daughter because he knows it s terrible
for the teen to move. To conclude, if the novel would not have showed how much love he has for
family it would not be as good as a story to

Reflection In Society
Have you ever wondered what it s like to live in the shoes of someone who s autistic or has extreme
social anxiety? Either of these things can make functioning in society very difficult, but not
impossible. At least that s what I believe, some people disagree with that. The author seems to believe
that is impossible to function in society if either of these things affect you. It is possible to function in
society, it just takes a lot of patience and practice. Haddon portrays that if you are suffering from
autism, then you can t function in society at all. He makes it so that Christopher doesn t liked being
touched by people so much, that he ll scream or hit someone if he s touched. No matter what affects
you, this is the behavior of a child. On page 8 it says The policeman took hold of my arm and lifted
me onto my feet. I didn t like him touching me like this. And this is when I hit him. Yes people with
autism have a harder time functioning in society, but at the age Christopher is, he should know that
you can t just hit people when they touch you. On page 137 it says So I got out my Swiss Army knife
and I flicked out the saw blade and I held it tightly in the pocket that Toby wasn t in so that I could
stab someone if they grabbed hold of me, . This is a very dangerous thing to do, if Christopher does
pull out his knife on someone, then he could get in a lot of trouble. This is an extreme reaction to
someone just touching him, it s very childish. In the book

Drug and Alcohol Essay
Drugs and Alchohol The first meeting I attended was an AA and a NA meeting. At first, I was very
nervous attending it because I didn t know what to expect. I always had the impression that all people
who attended these meetings were typical people that you see in bars with long hair, and beards; but I
was wrong. They look normal just like you and me. There were young people, and middle aged
people. Some of them I never would have expected that they were alcoholics or drug addicts. Both
meetings seemed to be very similar to me. They both introduced themselves the same way, for
example hi my name is Gino and I m an alcoholic, or I m addicted to cocaine. They both sat in a group
and discussed their addiction, their progress, and any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In both cases, drugs or alcohol was due to serious family problems, and they do it to get their minds
off of the problem. It is their way of getting away.
Since both meetings are so similar, there are things that I like and dislike about both. I like the fact that
it is a group effort to help one another because everyone there has the same problem, and there are
different ideas shared on how to overcome the addiction. It seems to me that everyone is fine when
they are together at the meeting, because by talking it takes their minds off of the drugs or the alcohol.
So the question that I am asking is when these people go back out into the world, and the group is not
there, and a problem occurs are they going to resort back to the substance. Another thing that I really
didn t like was the way they introduced themselves. I don t agree with putting a title after your name,
like I m an alcoholic. To me, that makes a person feel lowly about him or herself, and they will go
through life always feeling that they are an alcoholic or a drug addict. I feel that that needs to be
changed very badly. I think it should be Hi, my name is Gino, and I am here because I have a drinking
or a drug problem and I need help to overcome it. So if that person overcomes it, they will say I
accomplished something.
I honestly believe that these meetings work to a certain extent. I believe very strongly that a person
can overcome an alcohol or a drug problem. The meetings

The Rise and Fall of A Celebrity in Alice Walker’s...
In Alice Walker s story Nineteen Fifty Five there are numerous characters in which the reader
encounters however the main two you will see is Gracie Mae Still and Traynor. This story is spoken
by Gracie Mae but it depicts Traynor s life in an indirect way. In looking at the story from a modern
view this can be compared to the rise and fall of a celebrity as well as well known celebrities today
and their issues that can described using this story. Whether Alice Walker portrayed Traynor as Elvis is
unclear to most, there is a very strong connection. Elvis Presley s music career started in 1955 and
gained fast momentum in 1956 making him an international sensation. This would coincide with the
nasty little jerk that Gracie was viewing on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the story it is also evident that Traynor sends letters as well as extravagant gifts to Gracie
Mae. It has been known that Elvis gave gifts of houses and cars to numerous people that he knew as
well. In going deeper into the story it can be seen that Traynor doesn t have a very stable foundation
and that he is also attempting to discover the meaning of Gracie Mae s song but hasn t learned
anything. And then it s learned that Traynor had married and divorced 14 women and was currently
married to his 15th. There is no exact explanation given for the numerous marriages and divorces but
from my perspective the women all may have had some type of trait that Traynor temporarily wanted
and as time went on he fell out of love because they were not what he had really desired. The
connection he has with Gracie Mae has survived a couple of decades and she may be exactly what he
wants in a woman but can t find that in anyone else. In Gracie Mae s dream Traynor says, You marry
em for no reason but there was a reason, one he may not have comprehended. And in a brief portion of
the story we see a letter delivered to Gracie Mae about Traynor joing the army and still thinking about
the song. Presley joined the army as well around the same time Traynor did as depicted in the story.
The story ultimately ends upon the news of Traynor s death and the speculation that alcohol or drugs

Reconstruction Plan Research Paper
There were many different plans for Reconstruction, the period after the Civil War from 1865 1877.
There was President Lincoln s original plan, the Wade Davis Bill, and Presidential and Congressional
Reconstruction. However, none of these plans effectively reconstructed the South.
In December of 1863, Abraham Lincoln proposed the 10 Percent Plan as the first plan for
Reconstruction. In the plan, a Confederate state would be readmitted to the Union, with a new
government created, once ten percent of the state s voters had declared loyalty to the United States.
These people were also required to uphold emancipation. Lincoln said that it would be a cruel and an
astounding breach of faith for anyone to not abide by the laws of emancipation (qtd. in Goodwin 588).
Anyone who took this oath received a full pardon unless they had been a Confederate official. Lincoln
also thought that the entire abolition of slavery, not just in Confederate states, should be made by a
Constitutional amendment. However, this plan was more of a way to try to diminish the power of the
Confederacy during the Civil War than a plan to be enacted after the war was over. It was officially
put into motion in some parts of Union held territory in the South, but it was never truly supported by
locals and Congress didn t recognize is it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He had a strong belief in states rights and let the states make laws mostly on their own, without the

He also pardoned everyone except Confederate officials and rich plantation owners, but later he
pardoned most of them individually. The only rules he gave the South were that they had to obey the
abolition of slavery, take an oath of loyalty to the United States and pay off their debts from the Civil

  • 2. Descriptive Essay On Crystal Cave Crystal Cave Crystal Cave is full of life. My favorite vacation was the time my family and I went to Pennsylvania s Crystal Cave. Crystal Cave is one of Pennsylvania s most famous tourist attractions, which was discovered in 1881. Crystal Cave was once completely submerged underwater and was formed by an earthquake. It was July 2017, that my family and I were staying in a hotel room in Pennsylvania. We had many things planned for this trip, so we always had something to do. One of the places I saw we were going to was a cave called Crystal Cave. I had no knowledge of this cave, so I didn t know what to expect. But I had remembered the last cave I went to here, Penns Cave. I loved that place, I was fascinated there. So I told my family that I wanted to go to Crystal Cave, so we packed some things and went. When we first arrived there, the showed us a 4 5 minute video about Crystal Cave. I learned that the cave was founded in 1881 by two brothers, William and George Vanasse. I also learned that they had both carved their names in the walls of the cave and you can still see them right now. But Crystal Cave wasn t just a normal cave that you explore in, back then, people used it for weddings, parties, etc. The room where they held these events is still fully functional, so you can still go in there, but I don t think you can have a party in there anymore. When we finally got into the cave, our tour guide told us that there are colonies of brown bats living in the cave, but they have their own part of the cave, so you can t bother them. It was cold in the cave, so everyone wore a sweatshirt. We also saw many different rock formations such as animals, ice cream, and even one that looks like Donald Duck! There were many glistening and shining crystals that William and George had thought were diamonds, but they were just a very common crystal. They had a cave formation that you could touch. The tour guide called them rotten eggs because they looked like eggs that had been dropped and never cleaned up. When I touched them, they were smooth and moist, yet somehow warm and lumpy. They had a rare rock formation, a column! A column is created when a stalactite and a stalagmite combine together form one long pillar. These ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Case Of Prince Edward County, Virginia, By Melvin... In Israel on the Appomattox author Melvin Patrick Ely uses the case study of Prince Edward County, Virginia, to shift the historiography surrounding the treatment of free blacks in the Antebellum South. While the current historiography paints the Antebellum South as attempting to subjugate free blacks into a system as near to slaver as possible (p. 437), Ely posits that because of the existence of black slavery Southern whites felt secure enough to deal fairly and even respectfully with free African Americans (p. x). And though Ely agrees that laws and public statements about free blacks in the Old South constitute a sordid parade of mean spiritedness (p. 436), the actual behavior of white citizens of Prince Edward County rarely align with the path their social ideology prescribed (p. 440). In going against the previously well established understanding of the relationship between free blacks and whites, Ely has placed upon himself the large onus of disproving so many who have come before him, and the approach he takes within Israel on the Appomattox is as fascinating as it is convincing. Ely s window into the world of free blacks in Prince Edward County was made possible by Richard Randolph, who, in his will, freed his approximately ninety slaves and set aside for them a four hundred acre plot of land which would become known as Israel Hill (p. 7). The majority of Randolph s slaves would have to wait fourteen years after his death in 1796 to attain their promised ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

America believes that if you do something better than others you will be happy, and now stop trying. What people lack to understand is that once one has started a standard of perfectionist, you now want more for yourself. Wanting more for yourself means people will go above and beyond to do so. People strive to be perfect to avoid judgement, shame and blame. To avoid being judged, shamed or blamed people concluded they will do things such as eating less, adding more makeup, working out more etc. Today s society promotes how we should look, weigh and how much we should eat on the daily. What does not bring happiness should be removed ( Don t be afraid to remove who are negative (Shah, 2013, para. 11). In this quote Shah states that all are negative should be removed. His nomination was met with opposition because he lived in Paris for 17 years and Senegalese did not see him as a True African . He, however, had support from the well respected, Lamine Guèye (Mayor of Dakar and leader of the SFIO), who, was running for top position of two deputy positions and they were both successful in their campaigns to serve in these positions. It could be disastrous if there was a curfew for many towns and cities, it would most likely be even worse than before. First and foremost, many teens are out at night doing things and going places. They deserve the right to be able to be out at night and not have leave at a certain time. When the family or community strictly imposes curfew law, kids are expected to observe it without question to avoid punishment. In the same way, authorities outright categorize those who do stay out beyond the curfew limit as delinquents or violators. This would play a very important factor in why towns should not have a curfew. It would not only be hurting one teen but many and their families. In contrast, driving and hanging out during later night hours could put teens in risky situations. Driving or traveling at night may impose greater dangers than traveling at daytime. In addition, curfew keeps them away from temptations such as drug use, violent acts, heavy partying, and alcohol intake. Due to the space limitation, we will only focus on grave stela and tomb funerary monuments. The conclusion is that the stele s characteristics change considerably through the time, and the pictures inside the funerary tombs evolve to have the typical features of the paintings from the Hellenistic period. The period we will be looking at goes from the start of the Classical period, in the 5th century BC, until the end of the Hellenistic period, the year 31 BC. The first important change we are going to look at is the size and shape of the stele. Starting in Asia Minor and Aegean Greece , the stele started to become smaller than the ones that we see in the Classical period. Both in the Classic and Hellenistic period, the deceased are represented in the grave. One important difference is that in the Hellenistic ones, the people are below a naiskos , which is a temple with columns at both sides. This way the stele have both some characteristics from the Classic time and some innovation. This was a very common practice during the Hellenistic period. Privatization of public systems has been going on in both developed and developing countries for many years, maybe with more strength on developing countries in the last decade because of their higher reliance on public companies. The inefficiency of many public companies and its burden to the countries bearing them has been probably the reason most commonly used to justify them. Other reasons have also been: expertise of the private companies, fewer capital funds needed to start the project (in case of new projects) and less resources needed from the government to control the day to day operations from the ... For improving the economic results of a firm there are two possibilities a) reducing costs b) increasing revenues: a) Reducing costs: This is normally attained in two ways for water companies, utilizing more efficient modern equipment which per se doesn t imply any ethical problem (but this has an attached higher investment cost) or reducing labor cost, which could lead to difficult decisions. Another way of reducing costs, for new projects that require building infrastructure, is by supplying water only to the sector of the people who can afford paying for the services. The layering of the pipe network is a very expensive part of the construction of a new water supply system, and thus private companies could save money by not supplying areas were water consumption is low, or were they expect to have difficulties collecting the fees. b) Increasing revenues: to raise the prices of water supply to customers. This has two ethical issues bound: a. First, the reduction of the access to water to lower income users due to its higher cost, or at least the reduction of the amount of water they can use. b. The quick rise of prices of water before the quality of supply is improved can confuse and irate the consumers. Despite its big dimension, it is one of the least populated states due its cold weather. Most of Alaska s economy comes from its natural resources. The fishing, natural gas, and oil industries dominate it almost 85% of its budget comes from oil and gas revenues. Alaska also provides half of the nation s coal reserves, and has one of the largest silver and zinc mines. Many regulations and measures have been passed to reduce pollution and control the use of natural resources nationally as well as internationally. Most of the states and countries are also concerned about the emission of carbon. Producing oil is also becoming less and less expensive thus making less appealing to produce oil in Alaska where building a drill is more expensive. In addition, the ongoing increase of the electric and more fuel efficient cars demand has a major impact on the oil industry. This will result in a decrease of oil price and its demand. The best alternative for Alaska will be to diversify its source of income and not just heavily depend on oil money. Since Alaska is donated with many natural resources, Alaska can take advantage of it to develop its economy. Firstly, Alaska can shift its focus from oil and gas to coal. About 30% of the US coal is in Alaska. However, most of the coal is in the Arctic Circle and therefore hard to access. If Alaska invest in power plants and in innovating technology that will allow to safely dig for coal in the far North, Alaska will considerably increase its revenues given the high demand of coal here and all over the world. Alaska will also have to do a research to effectively localize al the coal available in the state and the best to get to it. It also must comply to the state regulations as well as ... Essay on Comparing Hinduism and Buddhism Comparing Hinduism and Buddhism While Hinduism and Buddhism come from the same cultural backgrounds, they are extremely diverse in their beliefs on afterlife, deity, and rituals. Both religions believe in reincarnation, but it is where an individual goes after he or she gets off the endless cycle that differs. These religions also part when it comes to whom they do or do not worship. Every religion comes with rituals and Hinduism and Buddhism are no exceptions. The fourth hour bell had just rung in my 10th grade honors English class, and I was just as nervous as my classmates as I read out the words on the board. It was time for our In class essay test , which our teacher announced would be given out randomly this week. The notion of writing essays for the class never made me worried, but the fact that this one would be written in class and completely graded on grammar usage concerned me, along with my classmates. My teacher fixed his glasses and began setting the timer, after handing out the news story that we were tasked to write about. I took a deep breath and began writing, hoping for the best. A week after that hour of painstaking writing, I was surprised to find that I got a perfect score. That event first opened my eyes to the types of classes I shine in. I predominantly succeed in English and social studies class. I attribute my success to the nature of the classes, my study habits in those classes, my relationship with teachers and students in the class, and, above all, my family pushing me along the way. The first factor I noticed that helped me thrive in English and social studies classes is how they are usually structured. Walcott has mentioned in many essays and interviews how important it is for the artist to not become disillusioned and bitter about history. Rather, artists should make use of these fragments of European, African, and native Arawak/Amerindian, to reinvent and create a voice that entails all of those influences. Walcott redefines and reinvents the literary epic in Omeros and Rhys challenges the ignored narrative of Bertha/Antoinette in Wide Sargasso Sea. In Omeros, I propose on demonstrating how Walcott uses Helen as a symbol of the St. Lucia and how her struggle represents the struggle of the island. I will investigate the images of the victimized Helen of Troy in contrast with this Antillean Helen who, rather than a victim, is the seducer of the men, and resists the domination of the men and the effects of colonialism. This gives Helen a tremendous amount of power. She represents the beauty and desire through which the men of St. Lucia define themselves. I will zoom in on how Walcott uses Helen through her resistance of the influences of New World and the tourism to show how the natives still try to hold on to their traditions and strive to create their own identities in an environment that is constantly causing the natives to reinvent themselves to suit the colonizers and tourists. Most striking, however, is the factors discussed by Khrushchev in his perspective in the reasoning behind building the Berlin Wall. In the Soviet perspective, the Berlin Wall was a preventative measure that simply kept the East German government from collapsing. By observing the statistics from the farms, Khrushchev was able to see the shortcomings of his own government s plans for development in comparison to the booming economies of the west. This evidence of the failure of Communism only fueled Khrushchev s contempt for western progression. Most of the documents procured by the Soviet government regarding the agricultural production for the year were falsified and overly optimistic. The state was failing to reach its optimistic goals for agricultural production by trying to upstage the United States and other western capitalist countries in an attempt to intimidate them and prove to the rest of the world that Communism was not a failing political system. One of the most evident examples of this is in the instance of the Vienna conference between Khrushchev and Kennedy. Analysis Of A Song Of Despair By Pablo Neruda In the poem A Song of Despair Pablo Neruda chronicles the reminiscence of a love between two characters, with the main speaker s perspective showing the changes between their relationship from a once fruitful, to a now broken relationship. From this Neruda attempts to showcase the significance of contrasting imagery to demonstrate the speaker s various emotions felt throughout the experience. This contrasting imagery specifically develops the reader s understanding of abandonment, sadness, change, and memory. The significant language features Neruda uses to accomplish this include: similes, nautical imagery, floral imagery, and apostrophe. Firstly Neruda uses contrasting imagery of difficulty to represent the speakers troubled relationship. This is presented using diction in the quotation How terrible and brief my desire of you! How difficult and drunken, how tensed and avid. From the words terrible and brief the feeling of a short, abysmal experience can be seen. This is paired with the verb desire which suggests a longing, or wanting for something, subsequently referring to the sexual desire of the speaker s past relationship . As a desire is typically wanted for, pairing it with a short, horrible experience shows the significance of contrasting imagery used by Neruda to show the drastic change of emotions which is a consequence of their troubled relationship. The Constitution entrenched America s national government and crucial laws, and assured specific key rights for citizens. It endured many revisions before it was ratified. Within the Constitution is the Bill of Rights, which are the first 10 amendments in the Constitution. The original Constitution that was ratified in 1787 did not include a Bill of Rights, it was not until 1791 that was it was ratified. Despite its ongoing controversy regarding the actual intentions of some religious groups in America, the most important right in the Bill of Rights is freedom of religion. However, it is important to take note of the proficiency and the aptitudes of the counselor involved in the cause both at personal and professional levels. Despite the diverse disparities and the extent of antagonism between or among the conflicting parties, it is very important for the counselor never to take sides, but rather give both/all parties neutral treatment or attention; this will help bringing the conflicting parties at par as far as emotions are concerned thus, ready for the counselor s intercession, and subsequently discourse and mutual consensus (Jacobs, et al. 2016 ). There was President Lincoln s original plan, the Wade Davis Bill, and Presidential and Congressional Reconstruction. However, none of these plans effectively reconstructed the South. In December of 1863, Abraham Lincoln proposed the 10 Percent Plan as the first plan for Reconstruction. In the plan, a Confederate state would be readmitted to the Union, with a new government created, once ten percent of the state s voters had declared loyalty to the United States. These people were also required to uphold emancipation. Lincoln said that it would be a cruel and an astounding breach of faith for anyone to not abide by the laws of emancipation (qtd. in Goodwin 588). Anyone who took this oath received a full pardon unless they had been a Confederate official. Lincoln also thought that the entire abolition of slavery, not just in Confederate states, should be made by a Constitutional amendment. However, this plan was more of a way to try to diminish the power of the Confederacy during the Civil War than a plan to be enacted after the war was over.
