Mercy Killing Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of mercy killing poses a formidable challenge, as it demands a
delicate balance between addressing the ethical, moral, legal, and emotional dimensions
associated with the topic. The complexity arises from the inherent controversial nature of mercy
killing, also known as euthanasia, where one must navigate through diverse perspectives and
conflicting viewpoints.
To begin with, delving into the ethical considerations requires a comprehensive understanding of
different philosophical frameworks that underpin arguments both for and against mercy killing.
These ethical dilemmas are often rooted in deeply ingrained cultural, religious, and societal
beliefs, making it challenging to present a nuanced and well-rounded perspective that respects
various value systems.
Furthermore, the legal aspect adds another layer of intricacy. Euthanasia regulations vary widely
across different jurisdictions, necessitating thorough research to provide an accurate and up-to-
date account of the legal landscape. Balancing these legal intricacies while maintaining a
coherent and convincing argument for or against mercy killing requires a keen legal mind.
Moreover, emotions run high when discussing a topic that involves matters of life and death.
Addressing the emotional dimension involves empathy and sensitivity towards those who may
have experienced the complexities surrounding end-of-life decisions. It is crucial to handle
personal stories and narratives with care, respecting the gravity of the subject matter.
In conclusion, tackling an essay on mercy killing requires a multi-faceted approach that navigates
through ethical, legal, and emotional dimensions. Crafting a thoughtful and well-reasoned essay
demands not only extensive research but also a nuanced understanding of the diverse
perspectives surrounding the topic. It's a task that demands careful consideration of opposing
viewpoints while maintaining empathy and respect for the gravity of the subject.

What Is The Death Of The Ball Turret Gunner
The ball turret gunner of the B 17 and B 24 was an important job; however was a
dangerous one. In Randall Jarrell s The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner makes a
comparison to a ball turret to a mother s womb. The Death of the Ball Turret
Gunner throughout the poem talks about the mother s womb. From the birth of
him, to when he s in the ball turret, to when he is dead. First, the birth of the
gunner. In the poem it says From my mother s sleep I fell into the State (ln.1). In
this line Jarrell is comparing the ball turret to a mother s womb. Since of the
awkward position of the turret on the plane the gunner had to sit in a fetal, so they
could aim and shoot, but in the mother s womb you have to sit in a fetal position in

Summary Of Differences In Always Outnumbered, Always...
In Always Outnumbered, Always Outgunned, by Walter Mosley, ex convict from
South Central Los Angeles, Socrates Fortlow, makes a difference in his community
by helping/guiding an 11 year old boy soon to be gang member, Darryl; helps long
time friends, Howard and Corina Shakur, get their family back in order; and helps
get rid of a murderer in the neighborhood, Petis. In Crimson Shadow, Socrates takes
Darryl under his wing and gives him life lessons, convincing him he does not need
a gang in order to live, and helps him get off the street. Socrates decides to help
Darryl because he sees that he has no correct guidance in his life and it reminds
Socrates how he was before when he killed the two people and went to jail, so he
helps Darryl get on the right track so he won t end up like Socrates. With Socrates
mentoring Darryl, he acts like a father figure to Darryl, which is something Darryl
never had in his household. Socrates teaches Darryl how to face the truth, even if it
was good or bad. Socrates wants Darryl to see that living in this world is tough and
with all bad we have done we pay back in different ways and if you want to be
forgiven in a way you need to do good whether it is with others or yourself. An

Exotic Animals Research Paper
Exotic animals are known to be dangerous predators. They travel across vast areas
and take every opportunity to devour their prey. Meanwhile, the average pet gets
out of its cage and consumes a small meal provided by its owner. The pet is
certainly easier to manage than the exotic creature. However, some people own and
keep said exotic animals as pets. This decision is an enormous risk to the owner and
the animalin captivity. Owning an exotic pet can be harmful to the owner. Even as
cubs, the animalsare extremely unpredictable. According opt the article, They are
wild animals with wild animal instincts, even when born in captivity. (Lewis, lines
39 40). These beasts were not designed to live in a confined area. Also, if these
animals were to escape from their owners, it would result in the public being
harmed. Keeping an exotic animal can pose a threat to its owner and their wallet.
Owning a wild animal is expensive and the creature requires an immense amount of
care. The author from the article, Do You Really Want a Baby Tiger? claims that,...

The excerpt provided by the article Rexano states 1.5 people on average gets killed
yearly by captive reptile, 1 by captive big cat, [and] 0.81 by captive elephant; As
comparison, 45,000 people die each year in traffic accidents, 47 from lightning, and
1,600 by falling downstairs. (Rexano, 11 16). Although the statistics could be true,
the average death rate regarding the exotic animals will skyrocket if more of these
creatures are introduced as pets.
In summary, owning an exotic pet should not be allowed considering that it is quite
expensive to manage one. It is also deleterious to the animal if its needs are not met.
Additionally, the animal can rebel due to being malnourished and harm the public.
These vicious predators should be able to roam grand areas instead of being confined

Mark O Rowe Terminus Play Analysis
Mark O Rowe wrote his play Terminus in 2007. It was originally performed by the
Abbey Theatre, and had a revival in 2011. Mark O Rowe is a playwright and
screenwriter from Ireland. He is best known for writing Howie and the Rookie in
1999. Terminus is one of his newer plays, having only been in production for eight
years. I plan on adapting Terminus for a new stage production. Some of the plot
will be changed, however the majority of it will stay the same. I have a cast planned
as well as many ideas for staging, set design, and costumes. Terminus premiered in
2007 at the Abbey Theatre. It received rave reviews, and traveled around the world.
This same production was ultimately revived again in 2009, because it did so well
the first time. It was performed by Andrea Irvine, Eileen Walsh, and Aidan Kelly as
A, B, and C, respectively. The set was completely bare, only lighting the actors when
they were speaking. It was extremely minimalistic, and was directed by Mark O
Rowe himself. The actors stood in the light when it was their... Show more content on

For A, I want to cast Paula Malcomson, who is best known for her work in The
Hunger Games. B will be played by Saoirse Ronan, who recently starred int he
acclaimed film Brooklyn. C will be played by Colin Ferrell, who can be seen in so
many amazing movies, I don t know if they are worth listing, especially because
everyone should know who he is already. I picked this cast because for one I feel like
they are all solid actors, and I especially like how much Paula and Saoirse look alike.
I like Colin for C, because I feel like he will be especially good at playing the likable
creepy guy. He has done with many times before, and I feel like he very much
excels in that type of role. I also wanted to make sure that my whole cast was
actually Irish. I am planning on keeping the original setting of Dublin, and I didn t
want actors who were doing an accent. I wanted actual Irish actors to play these
Violence And Resistance Chapter 8 Summary
Chapter 8 Violence and Resistance was about the need of addressing violence
against women in the rise of feminism. The chapter goes into details about how
rape is a form of social control that has often been used on a large scale as a weapon
of war, in particular in contexts of ethnic cleansing. (pg. 338) In other words, rapehas
been a big issue, especially in U.S colleges first year female students. Then in
section 8.2 Scope of the Problem , gives better details an example of a common
question about sexual assault on college campus towards victims and assailant if
they re acquainted. Some analysis I got from this section is how victims, (mostly
women) are not heard or believed which can be the number one reason why rape
victims choose not to speak about the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is important to know because rape victims not given the support and attention
needed when they report an assault will only increase the amount of rape on
campus. Section 8.2 was also very important because they give the experience to
make the text more believable about victims on campus sexual assault. Providing
this information can inform people the different type of victims of rape and the
assailants and how each rape case can be similar or different. Some new concepts I
learned was mostly vocabulary about this topic. For example, I learned what
acquaintance rape consensual, and sodomize means. The main thing I learned and
noticed was that there are different types of campus sexual assault and rape. I always
thought there was only one type of rape that can happen on campus but apparently,
there isn t. The one that really stood out to me was acquaintance rape because it
seems that one to be the biggest issue. An acquaintance can mean two people that are
familiar with each other, which men tend to thinks it enough reason to take advantage
of someone when in reality, it
Analysis Of The Poem Garden
Garden Phil has trouble sleeping and goes for midnight walks to to calm himself.
Dans a quiet guy in all black with self destructive tendencies and an abusive
mother. Phil took a deep breath, filling his lungs with the cool night air. He
glanced up at the sky, hoping for at least one star for once. It was pitch black. He
looked back down to the tarmac, kicking a stone as he walked down to the river at
the end of his street. He shivered, the thin fabric of his t shirt not being enough to
protect him from the chilly autumn breeze. Phil had been taking more and more
walks late at night recently, always to the river. He liked how the gentle flow of
the water calmed him, how the slight swaying of the trees in the wind put his mind
at ease. It had been getting harder to sleep lately, Phil s overactive mind being at
fault. He didnt even know what he was thinking about, or why, but there was a
constant buzz in the back of his head which made falling asleep, or even relaxing,
impossible. The river helped. Phil could focus on the leaves drifting down river
and the smell of the dirt and grass and everything else seemed to fade away. It was
the only place Phil could get any rest. The river was mostly hidden by the thick
overgrowth that lined the streets and the houses in his neighbourhood. Phil never
saw anyone else here. Until now. Dan had a bottle of vodka in one hand and a

Judicial Independence And Judicial Accountability In...
Judicial Independence and Judicial Accountability in Australian judicial appointments
Introduction
Judicial independence is a concept of constitutional law that requires the judiciary o
be kept away from all other arms of the government. It requires that the judiciary be
free from influence from the other arms of the government and any private
individuals. It is vital for the doctrine of separation of powers. Judicial accountability
is a principle that brings the concept of keeping the judiciary under scrutiny. It
requires that the judiciary and judicial officers be held accountable for their actions
while in office (Seibert Fohr Muller 2012, p.10). This essay is aimed at discussing
these two principles and assess whether the change in the Australian judicial
appointments process would enhance judicial independence and judicial
accountability with a view of making recommendations where changes are necessary.
Judicial independence
The doctrine of judicial independence rests on three concepts. The first one is the
security of tenure of office which is supposed to guarantee judicial officers freedom
from the interferences by the parliament or the executive. The doctrine requires ...

This concept is built on the assumption that if judges are paid adequately, they
cannot be bribed (Shetreet Forsyth 2012, p. 19). If a judge is not compromised by
bribes then he or she is likely to make decisions that are not biased. Remunerating
judges lowly can cause them to receive payments and patronages from private
individuals and end up ruling in their favor. In Australia, the remuneration of judges
is fixed by the law and cannot be altered anytime during the time the judge is holding
office. Section 72 of the constitution protects the notion for federal judges while
salaries for state court judges are protected by statutes (Brand Getzler 2012, p.
Most Appropriate Measure Of Center Of Statistical Data
The most appropriate measure of center of this data set would be the median, or the
arithmetic average. The median would be more suitable because the mean is more
heavily influenced by outliers. In a skewed distribution, the mean would be pulled
more towards the tail of the data where outliers exist, and the average value would
be greater than that of the median. In this case, using the 1.5 x IQR rule, any
departure time less than 19.5 or greater than 16.5 is an outlier. Hence, with multiple
outliers present in the data, the median would not be influenced as heavily as the
mean by outliers, and would give a more accurate representation of the average value
of the set. (Refer to spreadsheet). The measure of variation that corresponds with...

If a point value is indicated by an equal or positive sign, this shows that the flight
departed on time or late. The chosen random variable would be discrete. Although
the data set is a large sample size of 500 values, it is still possible to list out all the
outcomes of the data as a fixed set and assign probabilities to them. The values for
departure delay times are also inputted as whole positive and negative integers with
no decimal values. Decimal values are characteristic of a continuous random
variable for an infinite sample space. Therefore, this another indicator that a
discrete random variable would be ideal for a finite sample space. The binomial
distribution would be suitable for the underlying distribution of X because a data
point must either lie within or outside of the interval of a delayed departure.
Hypothetically, if a value lies outside the range of 10 and 130, then this would
mean that the flight will cancelled. A flight cannot depart to its destination too
early or too late, as it would be considered an unreliable flight. Therefore, any time
of departure that exceeds 10 or 130 cannot exist. The probability that a flight will
depart early or on time is 71.0%. The probability that a flight will arrive late is
36.0%. The probability that a flight departs late or arrives early is 83.4%. Compared
to each individual events probabilities of departing early or on time or arriving late,
this percentage indicates that the chances of a
The Feminist Analysis
For decades, women have been continuously fighting for equality with men and
because of their reluctance to never give up their fight, women have gained many
more rights throughout the years. The feminist ideology is incorporated in Pride and
Prejudice through Elizabeth Bennett and her blatant reluctance to marry a man any
reason other than love. Feminismis still incredibly relevant in today s society and is
very important because to this day, men and women are not considered and treated as
equals. The feminist movement is such a great movement because it has so many
pros to it. A pro of the feminist movement is that it raises awareness to the unequal
treatment of men and women. If the feminist movement never started, there would

that strength. G.D.
Principles And Methods Of Ergonomics
INTRODUCTION
Ergonomic means the understanding of the interactions among humans and other
elements of a system. This is achieved by applying theoretical principles, data and
methods to design so that we can optimise human well being and thus improving
overall system performance. Ergonomists helps in planning, designing and evaluation
of tasks, jobs and products in industries. These also include environments and
systems in order to make viable to the needs, abilities and limitations of peoples.
The term Ergonomics means Greek ergo that is work and nomos means laws to

overall system performance(2). In countries like India where there are many
industries, they play a vital role in employing majority of industrial workers. The
majority of the industrial workers are suffering from musculoskeletal disorder(5)

Macbeth Power And Influence
We as people often say Having a high position of power is bad but we never
consider the power behind an individual person and the influence their words may
have. For example, in society some of us dress, act and talk a curtain way to fit in
because if you do something different someone will judge you and say things about
you. What this is doing is influencing our everyday decisions. We often underestimate
the powerour words may have on another. This is prominent when asking ourselves
in the The Tragedy of Macbeth who actually holds the most power to influence
others actions. After receiving a prophecy that Macbeth would become king and all
these things that could happen. Macbeth went on a huge ambitious journey and
committed acts out of fear and personal benefit. For example, he killed the former
King in order to be, his friend Banquo and attempted to kill his son. So who in The
Tragedy of Macbeth had the most power to influence? The source can be traced back
to the prophecy givers themselves, the Witches.

him that he would be king. All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter. (I.III.50)
That shows that Macbeth knew he would become king and since the witches told him
that it influence his thought to kill King Duncan so he can take the

about from the merging of two farming settlements in 1902, however the city s

the city s webpage, Prosper is committed to being family oriented and providing
every resident an opportunity to experience quality living while maintaining small
town ideals ( About Prosper , n.d.). The Prosper Independent School District s
(PISD) vision to reach everyone, everyday ( REACH Philosophy / REACH , 2002)
mirrors the town s belief in including everyone. Despite the exceptional growth
within the city over the past few years, the school district is determined to meet the
needs of its student population. One way in which PISD plans to ensure all of its
students receive an equitable education, is through its adoption and implementation of
the Response to Intervention (RtI) program.
The Response to Intervention program came into existence as a result of various
federal legislative mandates. The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB)

students, including English language learners, students of lower socioeconomic
backgrounds, and those in special education (NCLB, 2001;) Then, In 2004, the

Jesus s Last Supper
Jesus s last supper with his disciples has been a prominent story within the New
Testament. At Jesus s last supper, he delivers a speech on how to remember him
once he is gone. Within the gospels of Matt, Mark, Luke, and John much is
communicated within just a few verses; unfortunately, these accounts differ so much
that it is difficult to know exactly what happened at this supper. The earliest witness
of the synoptic gospels are Mark and Matthew (Marks first). You can say the
accounts of Mark and Matthew are nearly identical. This is due to the fact that
Matthew originates from the same cultural background of Mark. Matthew has a
tendency of mirroring Marks work and adding his own stuff to his narrative. They
wrote their gospels with the
Ambiguity In Benito Cereno
Herman Melville s short story Benito Cereno or The Other Moby Dick as Greg
Grandin, a contributing writer for Mother Jones magazine, refers to it, is a
fictionalized account of an encounter that an American ship captain and seal killer
/trader by the name of Amasa Delano had in February 1805 in the South Pacific
(Grandin). Delano, who was quick to flog his men, was the sort of American sea
captain Melville knew well and hated (Stuckey 271). Delano chronicled his
encounter in A Narrative of Voyages and Travels, in the northern and southern
hemispheres: comprising three voyages around the world, together with a voyage
of survey and discovery in the Pacific Ocean and Oriental Islands (Boston, 1817).
Arguably one of Melville s best works, Benito Cereno in all of its ambiguity is
more than a fictionalized account of a seafaring vessel and its less than admirable
captain, it is a historical reflection of what was happening in the world during the
time it was written. Since its publication, Benito Cereno critics and casual readers
alike have struggled to find clarity in Herman Melvilles chronicle of the slave ship
San Dominick in his short storyBenito Cereno. In an attempt to disaggregate Melville
s story, scholars have focused on various elements of the elusive tale. Articles have
been written on a range of topics that run the gamut from the symbolic nature of the
ships to Melville s purpose and intent in writing the story. To wit, Valenti asserts that

United States Policy toward Southeast Asia
In 1943, Franklin D. Roosevelt proposed a trusteeship principle, in which the
subjugated nations of Asia would prepare themselves for self government, under the
supervision of the imperial nations. FDR had genuine humanitarian principles [1]
and was aware of the conditions under which colonial people sometimes lived. He
also realised that the colonial system was detrimental to US interests. According to

the President s essential pragmatism in the face of a complex amalgam of

strategies of involvement in the region, especially after 1950. By this time, The

on the insurgencies, whilst supplying economic and defence assistance, technical

Hamlet Essay In Hamlet, the title character Hamlet displays many different personas
throughout the play. These personas are used to avoid confrontation or more often
the opposite, but to avoid the consequences of saying the things he does. One of the
most important and recognizable personas is Hamlet s antic disposition or his fake
insanity. Hamlet s false insanity is used to throw off suspecting characters of his true
intentions. Another persona that Hamlet portrays in the play is cruelty. Hamlet
usually acts cruel toward Ophelia and Gertrude who in his opinion indirectly harm
him. Then the final exterior that Hamlet represents is his true self. Hamlets reveal of
his true feelings are especially important because they describe his true intentions for
his false state of madness and his actual mental state of health. Hamlet portrays
insanity, cruelty, and true self as his personas in Hamlet to persuade and further his
intentions with unintended consequences in his quest to revenge his father s murder.

Alarm Fatigue
Abstract
Clinical alarm systems in acute and critical care health care settings are an assistive
way to maintain communication between the client and the nurse. Awareness and

Persuasive Essay On The Electric Fire
Imagine coming home on a bitterly cold iciness s nighttime to a cozily warm house,
and after you have got made yourself a steaming cup of cocoa, and have settled into
your favorite recliner chair, you retake a seat and relax in the front of a lovely fire.
The conventional fashion mantelpiece is extraordinary with an antique o.K.Mantel
and rich brown brickwork. Your eyes settle on the hearththis is aglow with golden
flames, burning logs, and smoldering purple coals.
As the flames flicker and dance and the warm temperature embrace you with simply
the proper quantity of heat, you smile and say, This electric fire is one of the
exceptional investments I ve ever made. And you would be proper!
If you are seeking out a cleaner and smoke free manner of heating up your dwelling
house, the electric fire is a notable desire. It is a stunning, and elegant way of heating
your property in addition to supplying you with that a whole lot preferred an
atmosphere of a wood burning hearth.
There are more than one reasons why an electric fireplace should be a part of every
abode.
An electric hearth gives you the actual sense of a real fire while not having to play
around with heavy wood, fiddly fireplace starters, grimy ash, or smelly gas or
smoke. It simulates very sensible looking flames and coals through light globes that

Why Enron Became A Middle Man Company
With the changing of the economy in the late 1990s, as the old millennium was
ending and the new one beginning, one particular company discovered a new way
to rise to the top in the trading business. Enron, originally known as a natural gas
pipeline company [started by Kenneth Lay in 1985], soon became known as an
energy trading corporation that bought and sold gas as well as electricity. (Fox, 1).
With over 20,000 employees and 40 worldwide businesses, The Houston, TX
Corporation soon became a prodigy of the times. Originally it made its profit by
promising to deliver a particular amount of gas to certain businesses at market price
on particular days. (O Harrow Jr.). Soon, Enronbecame a middle man company,
placing it between buyers and sellers and making money off of the difference
between the selling and buying prices. Their books were kept closed to each
opposing party, making Enron the only one to know both prices. (O Harrow Jr.).
After entering many complex and intense contracts, the corporation entered into

The Autonomic Nervous System ( Sns ) Division Of The...
Autonomics and Stress
Introduction:
The autonomic nervous system, which is the division of the central nervous system
that is not consciously controlled but regulates bodily functions, is influenced by
stress. Stress can be defined as a stimulus that interrupts homeostasis within the body,
either physiologically or psychologically. The influence that it has is innovation of
the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) division of the ANS, and can include changes
to skin conductance, heart rate, blood pressure, skin temperature and respiratory
rate1. Under SNS activation, caused by stress, heart rate, skin temperature,
respiratory rate, blood pressure and skin conductance will all increase1,2. This
experiment aimed to choose a stressor that would influence autonomic measures and
record the response. The choice of stressor used in this experiment was invasion of
an individual s personal space, measured via skin conductance and heart rate. There
is known to be a linear relationship between discomfort or tension and the invasion of
personal space3 and this experiment aimed to test this response via autonomic
parameters. For example the skin conductance measure would indicate sweat; if
conductance increases there is less skin resistance due to the increase in sweat from
SNS innovation, caused by the stressor1. The cardiovascular responses observed
could be due to an inhibition of parasympathetic activity, activation of SNS or a
mixture of both2,3. The null hypothesis for this experiment
Everyone Should Have The Right To Doctor Assisted Suicide
As a child, every one ponders all of the many career opportunities they can become
one day. As a teenager, everyone wants to fit in and find the love of their life. As
an adult, most people have their lives figured out. Most have graduated with some
form of degree, have a job, happily married to the love of their life and has children
with them. No one considers what age has to bring with it. Sickness is everywhere;
it is almost inevitable. No one wants to contemplate being an elderly person who is
helpless and terminally ill. People who suffer from terminal illnesses should have the
right to doctor assisted suicidesince every person has the right to personal control
over his or her body; quality of life should supersede quantity of life, and euthanasia
is more humane than slowly suffering. The terminally ill should have the right to
doctor assisted suicide since every person has the right to personal control over his
or her body. Every individual has personal morals. No one wants to suffer while
others, especially family, can do nothing but simply watch them perish. Everyone has
the right to a peaceful death. A woman, carrying an unborn baby, has the choice to
keep the baby or abort it. We give women the right to murder innocent, unborn babies
who have never even seen the world, therefore, terminally ill people... Show more

Every individual has dignity. Even dignity in death. Death is not something anyone is
ready for, but when it is inevitable, a person can prepare themselves to perish with
their dignity still intact. People who become terminally ill, sometimes experience a
sense of physical indignation. They become a total dependent on others.
Occasionally, people also have an occurrence of emotional indignation. They become
incensed with not only themselves but with others as well. Their needs reflect upon
everyone else, resulting in the patient feeling
Head Seat Belts
Head Seat Belts
On the 4th of October 2016, principal of Aquinas College, Peter Hurley announced
that every student would be receiving a new bucket hat and that it is now a
mandatory part of the school uniform. This caused mixed emotions amongst students.
Some students were outraged at the thought of having to wear a hat, whilst others had
wanted a hat for some time.
Hats are like seatbelts for your head.
Peter Hurley, Principal of Aquinas College
The mandatory wearing of hats is detrimental to the mental health of students. The
teenagers of today are extremely self conscious of their image and how other people
see them. Forcing the students to wear bucket hats could make them feel insecure, as
they are quite possibly the ugliest hats on the planet. The student would then start to
focus more on how other students see them and put off doing their work, lowering
their grades or even lose self confidence.
Having low self confidence can be harmful to a person s well being. It can cause
negative feelings such as, anxiety, anger and sadness. It can inhibit a person s ability
to put effort into work, causing their grades to drop even further. It can cause the
student to have troubles making new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

generally ranged from age 12 to 17. Children of that age should be able to make
decisions for them selves. This includes what they wear, which also includes whether
they do or don t wear hats. The students should be given some independence and
allowed to have some individuality. If students were to get sun burnt, it would be on
their own accord. If the school was nervous about being sued or blamed by the
student and or their parents, the school could write an agreement that the students
and their parents would have to sign. Stating that they take full responsibility for their

La Sagrada Familia ( The Expiratory Church Of The Holy
Family
In 1884, Catalan architect Antoni GaudГ began work on La Sagrada FamГlia (the
Expiratory Church of the Holy Family,) a Catholic cathedral in Barcelona, Spain.
What began as a modest Gothic Revival design by fellow architect Francisco de Paula
del Villar transformed, under Gaudi s direction, into a massive monument to
Catholicism, Catalonia, and the city of Barcelona. Neither of the Gothic tradition nor
Catalan Modernisme, La Sagrada Familia is known for its striking individuality at the
turn of the twentieth century. as well as its enormous scale and plethora of motifs.
While many people abhore the intense decoration and towering height, (people have
obviously also thought it worthwhile because the building is still under meticulous
construction to this very day and completion is anticipated in 2020, marking 140
years of construction.) Gaudi did not mind that the construction would last beyond
his death because, when given the extent of his efforts, La Sagrada Familia became a
vessel through which Gaudi could finally build to fruition the architectural
conceptions he had been developing with previous projects. Throughout his career ,
Gaudi strove to imbue his architecture with a sense of life, and he was able to do this
through geometry. [1] Meticulous calculations allowed Gaudi to translate this
inspiration into architectural experiences. La Sagrada Familia was [Gaudi s
opportunity to literally build an illustration of the intimate connection he felt between
nature and
Mister Italy Pizza And Deli Case Study
2.INTRODUCTION
Mister Italy Pizza and Deli Company, is an established local restaurant who wanted
to expand its business by venturing in pizza and deli delivery. There is a growing
demand from customers who wanted their pizza delivered right at their door steps.
In response to this growing demand, Mister Italy Pizza and Deli owner, Tony Blanco,
needed a vehicle. The determining factor is to either purchase or lease a vehicle, that
is economical, dependable, and low mileage.
The company s financial situation is very good. The business attracts new and
regular customers, and, therefore generates decent profit. The company sets aside a
budget to purchase or lease a vehicle to stay competitive in this market and reach out

Lease A new car would be positive impression because the it could represent an
image of success and excellent business practice (Montoya, 2017).
Purchase As expected, the new vehicle would have a positive impression to
customers. However, in the long run, the car depreciates in value. An old and
deteriorated car could give a negative signal to customers regarding the company s
business practice (Montoya, 2017).

Essay about Jacob A. Riis
Jacob Riis book How the Other Half Lives is a detailed description on the poor and
the destitute in the inner realms of New York City. Riis tries to portray the living
conditions through the В‘eyes of his camera. He sneaks up on the people flashes a
picture and then tells the rest of the city how the В‘other half is living. As shocking
as the truth was without seeing such povertyand horrible conditions with their own
eyes or taking in the experience with all their senses it still seemed like a million
miles away or even just a fairy tale. The reality of this book hit the people of New

Although he does possess quite a bit of bigotry that boarders on the line of prejudice
when it comes to African Americans he recognizes that they are suffering from

knows with hard work, like he has done, you can pull yourself up by the bootstraps
and make something better with your life.
Riis covers many aspects of the poverty that has stricken the tenement lodgers but
when talking about one end of the spectrum (poor) you also need to discuss the
other (rich). With out telling people how the other half of the other half lives he s
leaving out a crucial part of how people live in New York. By avoiding, that topic he

TWENTY YEARS Mortality studies show that social inequalities in health include,
but are not confined to, worse health among the poor. There is a social gradient;
mortality rises with decreasing socio economic status. Three large sample studies,
one British and two American, brought together for their complementarity in samples,
measures, and design, all show similar social gradients for adult men and women in
physical and mental morbidity and in psychological well being. These gradients are
observed both with educational and occupational status and are not explained by
parents social status or lack of an intact family during childhood. They are also not
accounted for by intelligence measured in school. This suggests that indirect selection
cannot account for inequalities in health. Possible mediators that link social position
to physical and mental health include smoking and features of the psycho social
environment at work and outside. Increasing social inequalities in health in the
United States and elsewhere, coupled with growing inequalities in income and
wealth, have refocused

Paul Boghossian Moral Relativism
Over the last several decades, long established taboo, including the right to abortion,
the right to death, and LGBTQIA+ rights have become much more acceptable
throughout the United States. Consequently, it seems like basic moral norms are up
to the interpretation of current and societal ideals. Moral relativism is the belief
that the concepts of right and wrong exist only by comparison to a society s moral
code. It is an enticing moral theory in a world where so little seems absolute. Paul
Boghossian, author of The Maze of Moral Relativismtoo believes that this idea of
relativism is gaining popularity and importance in contemporary culture. However, he
not only believes that moral relativism is not true, but an illogical or incoherent moral
theory. Moral relativism, he claims, cannot exist because there is no middle ground
between moral absolutism, the idea that moral facts are true across all cultures and
time, and moral nihilism, the rejection of all moralityas people understand it,
including the ideas of right and wrong. Boghossian s argument is able to logically
destroy moral relativism, leaving little option other than to accept that absolute
morality exists somewhere.
Boghossian first shows how moral relativism is not a viable theory by ... Show more

Buckingham Palace, that the guest should not slurp her noodles; in contrast, she
should slurp her noodles in Xian, China where it signifies the enjoyment of a meal.
These different conventions mean that the way to eat is not absolute. This does not,
however, point to moral relativism. Though Boghossian concedes differences in
customs across cultures, he does not equate convention to morality. Showing
differences in behaviors actually damages the argument of the moral relativist further
by making a strong case for the existence of moral
How Is Cimorene Justified In Dealing With Dragons
In the story Dealing With Dragons, Patricia Wrede tells the tale of an intelligent
princess who refuses to marry a prince and do what she was expected of a proper
princess. In fictional story set in Medieval times, Cimorene decides to run away
instead of dealing with her problems. Cimorene is justified ignoring expected
social norms of the day because it did benefit her life but some people may
disagree. First of all, Cimorene is justified in ignoring expected social norms of the
day because running away was the only way to avoid what her father expected her
to do as a proper princess would. For example, All in all, Linderwall was a very
prosperous and pleasant place. Cimorene hated it. (Wrede 1). This is important
because cimorene made the right decision, now she is going to live the life she
prefered than living the miserable life her father wanted. This also important because

She successfully helped her dragon to be exceptional by helping her in everyday
life. For example, She was not going to have to marry Therandil, and sorting a
dragon s treasure sounded far more interesting than dancing or embroidery. (Wrede
21). This shows that Cimorene did not only made her life better but she also made
someone s life successful. This also shows shows that Cimorene turned into a
better princess since she became a dragon s princess. I m too young to get married
(Wrede 7). This proves that it benefitted her life because if Cimorene had gotten
married to Prince Therandil, the story wouldn t have been the same and she would
not have been living the life she preferred. This also proves that if she got married,
Prince Therandil would not have cared much about her because all he would want
from her is her wealth. Abandoning her problems and decided to become a dragon s

Eminent Domain Research Paper
Many people may debate whether or not the government should be able to take
property by eminent domain for the public good. For instance the TransCanada
Pipeline. Some may also debate whether or not it is an abuse of the 5thAmendment.
Eminent domain is defined as the right of a government or its agent to expropriate
private property for public use, with payment of compensation . In my opinion,
farmers or land owner s that own the land have the right disagree and turn down the
idea of second pipeline (Keystone XL) that with cross a large amount of Nebraska to
allow the XL pipeline to be built underneath farmland to allow bigger growth in
Canada. But will that stop the process of the largest gas supplying developmental
business in the world to build an efficient and safer way to transport oil across the
U.S.? No when eminent domain comes into play, the government can take properties
of the landowner even if it is private property. The government has the power of
eminent domain to take land if they can prove that the land could benefit the public.
The government must prove that the land private property, is useful to the public and
must be taken, and with compensation due to the Fifth Amendment. ... Show more

Introduction
Hypertension is one of the most influential risk factors for cardiovascular disease,
which
can quickly threaten human health. In 2013 more than 360,000 American deaths
involved high
blood pressure as the main or involving cause (CDC, 2015). Maintaining a healthy
blood
pressure can involve many factors. The prevalence of hypertension is increasing due
to lifestyle,
smoking, physical inactivity, and poor nutrition, which can lead to stroke, heart
attacks, and
death (CDC, 2015). Approximately 70 million American adults have high blood
pressure and
only half are controlled (CDC, 2015). Hypertension can be treated with medications,
changing
lifestyle, and eating healthy. Coincidently, garlic is an herb which researchers have
studied in
order to reduce blood pressure. Garlic supplements have been associated with a blood
pressure
lowering effect of clinical significance in patients with untreated hypertension Ried et
al (2010).
Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is a growing field in the nursing
practice. There
is further need to explore the use of garlic as a CAM to help reduce hypertension.

Al Qaed Terrorist Groups Essay
Founded by Osama bin Laden around the late 1980 s, one of the largest, most
terrifying, terrorist groups known worldwide is the Islamist organization, Al Qaeda.
According to the Council on Foreign Relations, Jayshree Bajoria and Greg Bruno
examine Al Qaeda as an international terrorist network that seeks to free Muslim
countries of profane influence, and replace governments with fundamentalist Islamic
regimes. Originating back to around 1988, Al Qaeda grew out of a Service Office,
run by Osama bin Laden and Abdullah Azzam. The Services Office would recruit
international Muslims from more than fifty countries, training, and financing them
into foreign mujahedeen and holy warriors. Although Al Qaeda does not operate at a
single headquarters, the bases of all operations are constructed either within
Afghanistan, Pakistan or along the boarder (par. 2, 3, 4). Known as one of the most
notorious terrorist groups in the world, Al Qaeda is considered a terrorist group
because of their ideologues and goals, along with their extreme use of violence.
Forming as an effort to support Muslims against the Soviets in the Afghanistan war,
developed a strong hatred towards non Islamic governments. As a growing
organization, Al Qaeda maintained officers in countries including Pakistan,
Afghanistan and the United States. The FBI s Testimony on Al Qaeda presented by
J.T Caruso reveals that US citizens were recruited through the Western world to

Nursing Profession In an article entitled Combating Disruptive Behaviors: Strategies
to Promote a Healthy Work Environment, the author states, disruptive behaviors
among healthcare workers threaten the safety and well being of both patients and
staff (Longo, 2010) . A study conducted by the Institute for Safe Medical Practices
(2004) found that 39% of the nurses encountered reluctance or refusal to answer
questions or return phone calls or pages; 40% reported condescending language or
voice intonation; and 42% reported impatience with questions on the part of
physicians (Longo, 2010). Due to their status of being seen as revenue generators for
the hospital, physicians have long been in positions of power within healthcare
systems. Because of this, their disruptive behaviors may be ignored or the physician
may be treated more leniently than other staff members. Hospital administrators
historically have reinforced these behaviors by giving in to the demands of the
physician (Longo, 2010). Disruptive behavior may affect the nurse in the form of
stress, frustration, lack of concentration, breakdown in communication, and impaired
information transfer (Iyer, n.d. ). Edwards (2007) describes the physiological and
psychological consequences of bullying: anxiety, panic attacks, aggression, feeling of
dread, headaches, increased blood pressure, and loss of

stewardship.
Product:
Quaker s primary change to the Snapple product was to manufacture Snapple in
much larger value sizes such as 32 and 64 ounce bottles (instead of Snapple s
original single serve 16 ounce ones). Quaker had had previous success in launching
their Gatorade jucies in larger sizes as consumers usually drank it after practice or a
work out, and so, were considerably thirsty. These consumers found the larger sizes
appealing as they needed to rehydrate, and the larger sizes enabled them to do that
more efficiently. However, this same product/ packaging model did not work on the
Snapple line, as Snapple was consumed by customers for a different reason.
Customers drank Snapple during lunch time or in the afternoon as something they
can finish quickly. So the large serving sizes did not appeal to them at all.

Accidental Death of an Anarchist
Q) Critically analyze the Figure of Madman in Dario Fo s play The Accidental Death
of an anarchist.
A) Dario Fo s play The Accidental Death of an Anarchist (1970) lies in the category
of revolutionary theatre that challenges the fascist regime of Italy. The play is a
farce based on events involving a real person, Giuseppe Pinelli, who fell or was
thrown from the fourth floor window of a Milan police station in 1969. He was
accused of bombing a bank. The accusation is widely seen as part of the Italian Far

subversive and shows a strong preference for the culture and traditions of the

He provides most of the humor content of the play. The madman is whimsical and he
constantly contradicts other characters as well as himself. His series of logical

appears to be the most intelligent character in the play. He ridicules the police
officials for missing out on the basic concepts of English grammar and the use of the
most important COMMA that changes the meaning of a sentence. He dictates the
terms of law and judiciary to police officials. He is extremely sarcastic. He ridicules
the superintendent for assuming the railway man planted the bomb in railway station
without any substantiate evidence and sarcastically rebukes the kindergarten logic .
The people in power appear to be inhuman and brute in their actions, and the sacred
governmental place, the police station appears to be a madhouse or a
slaughterhouse. The madman, even though he is mad appears to be the sanest
character in the play. In fact, he appears to be directing the play according to his
wishes. Suffering from a disease

Memes and Life
We have three replicators 1. Genes 2. Memes 3. Fremes (I have called them that).
These three replicators are selfish in that they contiuously try to replicate.
In the book by Susan Blackmore, it is mentioned that the reason why we cannot stop
thinking is because there are too many memes in our memory that can find their
place in the brain. Hence, we continuously keep on thinking, but at the cost of higher
energy requirements. Indeed, thinking utilizes more brain power which in turn
requires more oxygen for which more blood flow is required. Hence, in a nutshell,
the more we think the more energy we consume and the more the genetically weaker
our genes become as we are wasting more energy. What we see here that these...

Hence, let us see how ideally we should be able to control these memes.
We need to control the gene replication. For this, the simple idea is not to produce
offsprings. Simple.
We need to control the meme replication. For this, we need to try to stop thinking.
Difficult, but practice makes us perfect, or so they say.
We need to control freme replication. For this, let me take you on this concept of a
time machine. The photon clock example. Yes. As our speed increases, the value
of the time decreases. This is all hypothetical and yes, impossible too. Later, I will
explain why. Nevertheless, the analogy is interesting. We are saying that the longer

So the longer the time, the more the control as you could possibly do things more

Airtel Swot Analysis
I. INRODUCTION
India s two top telecom operators, Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio, are locked in a
tight competition which has triggered another round of price war in the industry.
But unlike the 3G price war in 2012 or 4G price war in 2016, the new battle isn t
about who is offering the lowest price but who can sell for free and for how long.
And then, there s a revived interest in targeting the lower tier of userbase that is still
using the 2G feature phones.
In September, Reliance Jio launched its fourth generation (4G) wireless internet
services, that has led to a financially bleeding battle between telecom operators.
What Reliance Jio is offering, is unfair competition , Mittal had said at a conference

Essentialist Theory Of The Queer Theory
sexuality often impacts the success of claims made by bi sexual refugees. The author
argues that this dominant understanding jettisons complex subjective positions and
disregards varying realities. The refugee determination system misinterprets and
misidentifies the lived experiences of bisexual claimants because of this knowledge,
further disadvantaging this group of refugees. Rehaag observes that individuals
seeking asylum on the basis of oppression for their bisexual tendencies have
significantly higher rejection rates compared to other claimants.
To investigate this assertion, Rehaag uses the queer theory as the main theoretical
framework. According to Rehaag, the Queer theory is an interdisciplinary medium
that examines the complex interactions between sexuality and gender, and
conceptualizes such views of sexual orientation as essentialist. The essentialist view
dichotomizes individuals as being either straight or gay on the basis of early
childhood psychological factors or biological traits. Consequently, this essentialist
argument comprehends sexual orientation as unchangeable and inflexible.
Essentialists may, in selected instances, acknowledge groups beyond gay and straight,
such as transgendered and bisexual individuals. Queer theorists reject the essentialist
view arguing that these categories are not inflexible. Rather, these categories are
regularly recreated through socio historical patterns or structured social exchanges.
Consequently, the queer theory

Mercy Killing Essay

  • 1. Mercy Killing Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of mercy killing poses a formidable challenge, as it demands a delicate balance between addressing the ethical, moral, legal, and emotional dimensions associated with the topic. The complexity arises from the inherent controversial nature of mercy killing, also known as euthanasia, where one must navigate through diverse perspectives and conflicting viewpoints. To begin with, delving into the ethical considerations requires a comprehensive understanding of different philosophical frameworks that underpin arguments both for and against mercy killing. These ethical dilemmas are often rooted in deeply ingrained cultural, religious, and societal beliefs, making it challenging to present a nuanced and well-rounded perspective that respects various value systems. Furthermore, the legal aspect adds another layer of intricacy. Euthanasia regulations vary widely across different jurisdictions, necessitating thorough research to provide an accurate and up-to- date account of the legal landscape. Balancing these legal intricacies while maintaining a coherent and convincing argument for or against mercy killing requires a keen legal mind. Moreover, emotions run high when discussing a topic that involves matters of life and death. Addressing the emotional dimension involves empathy and sensitivity towards those who may have experienced the complexities surrounding end-of-life decisions. It is crucial to handle personal stories and narratives with care, respecting the gravity of the subject matter. In conclusion, tackling an essay on mercy killing requires a multi-faceted approach that navigates through ethical, legal, and emotional dimensions. Crafting a thoughtful and well-reasoned essay demands not only extensive research but also a nuanced understanding of the diverse perspectives surrounding the topic. It's a task that demands careful consideration of opposing viewpoints while maintaining empathy and respect for the gravity of the subject. If you find yourself struggling with such assignments or need assistance in exploring different essay topics, you might consider seeking help from professional writing services. Platforms like HelpWriting.net offer support for various types of essays, ensuring that you receive well- researched and carefully crafted content tailored to your needs. • 3. Summary Of Differences In Always Outnumbered, Always... In Always Outnumbered, Always Outgunned, by Walter Mosley, ex convict from South Central Los Angeles, Socrates Fortlow, makes a difference in his community by helping/guiding an 11 year old boy soon to be gang member, Darryl; helps long time friends, Howard and Corina Shakur, get their family back in order; and helps get rid of a murderer in the neighborhood, Petis. In Crimson Shadow, Socrates takes Darryl under his wing and gives him life lessons, convincing him he does not need a gang in order to live, and helps him get off the street. Socrates decides to help Darryl because he sees that he has no correct guidance in his life and it reminds Socrates how he was before when he killed the two people and went to jail, so he helps Darryl get on the right track so he won t end up like Socrates. With Socrates mentoring Darryl, he acts like a father figure to Darryl, which is something Darryl never had in his household. Socrates teaches Darryl how to face the truth, even if it was good or bad. Socrates wants Darryl to see that living in this world is tough and with all bad we have done we pay back in different ways and if you want to be forgiven in a way you need to do good whether it is with others or yourself. • 4. Exotic Animals Research Paper Exotic animals are known to be dangerous predators. They travel across vast areas and take every opportunity to devour their prey. Meanwhile, the average pet gets out of its cage and consumes a small meal provided by its owner. The pet is certainly easier to manage than the exotic creature. However, some people own and keep said exotic animals as pets. This decision is an enormous risk to the owner and the animalin captivity. Owning an exotic pet can be harmful to the owner. Even as cubs, the animalsare extremely unpredictable. According opt the article, They are wild animals with wild animal instincts, even when born in captivity. (Lewis, lines 39 40). These beasts were not designed to live in a confined area. Also, if these animals were to escape from their owners, it would result in the public being harmed. Keeping an exotic animal can pose a threat to its owner and their wallet. Owning a wild animal is expensive and the creature requires an immense amount of care. (Rexano, 11 16). Although the statistics could be true, the average death rate regarding the exotic animals will skyrocket if more of these creatures are introduced as pets. In summary, owning an exotic pet should not be allowed considering that it is quite expensive to manage one. It is also deleterious to the animal if its needs are not met. Additionally, the animal can rebel due to being malnourished and harm the public. These vicious predators should be able to roam grand areas instead of being confined into a measly
  • 5. Mark O Rowe Terminus Play Analysis Mark O Rowe wrote his play Terminus in 2007. It was originally performed by the Abbey Theatre, and had a revival in 2011. Mark O Rowe is a playwright and screenwriter from Ireland. He is best known for writing Howie and the Rookie in 1999. Terminus is one of his newer plays, having only been in production for eight years. I plan on adapting Terminus for a new stage production. Some of the plot will be changed, however the majority of it will stay the same. I have a cast planned as well as many ideas for staging, set design, and costumes. Terminus premiered in 2007 at the Abbey Theatre. It received rave reviews, and traveled around the world. This same production was ultimately revived again in 2009, because it did so well the first time. It was performed by Andrea Irvine, Eileen Walsh, and Aidan Kelly as A, B, and C, respectively. The set was completely bare, only lighting the actors when they were speaking. It was extremely minimalistic, and was directed by Mark O Rowe himself. I picked this cast because for one I feel like they are all solid actors, and I especially like how much Paula and Saoirse look alike. I like Colin for C, because I feel like he will be especially good at playing the likable creepy guy. He has done with many times before, and I feel like he very much excels in that type of role. I also wanted to make sure that my whole cast was actually Irish. I am planning on keeping the original setting of Dublin, and I didn t want actors who were doing an accent. I wanted actual Irish actors to play these
  • 6. Violence And Resistance Chapter 8 Summary Chapter 8 Violence and Resistance was about the need of addressing violence against women in the rise of feminism. The chapter goes into details about how rape is a form of social control that has often been used on a large scale as a weapon of war, in particular in contexts of ethnic cleansing. (pg. 338) In other words, rapehas been a big issue, especially in U.S colleges first year female students. Then in section 8.2 Scope of the Problem , gives better details an example of a common question about sexual assault on college campus towards victims and assailant if they re acquainted. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is important to know because rape victims not given the support and attention needed when they report an assault will only increase the amount of rape on campus. Section 8.2 was also very important because they give the experience to make the text more believable about victims on campus sexual assault. Providing this information can inform people the different type of victims of rape and the assailants and how each rape case can be similar or different. Some new concepts I learned was mostly vocabulary about this topic. For example, I learned what acquaintance rape consensual, and sodomize means. The main thing I learned and noticed was that there are different types of campus sexual assault and rape. I always thought there was only one type of rape that can happen on campus but apparently, there isn t. The one that really stood out to me was acquaintance rape because it seems that one to be the biggest issue. An acquaintance can mean two people that are familiar with each other, which men tend to thinks it enough reason to take advantage of someone when in reality, it

Dans a quiet guy in all black with self destructive tendencies and an abusive mother. Phil took a deep breath, filling his lungs with the cool night air. He glanced up at the sky, hoping for at least one star for once. It was pitch black. He looked back down to the tarmac, kicking a stone as he walked down to the river at the end of his street. He shivered, the thin fabric of his t shirt not being enough to protect him from the chilly autumn breeze. Phil had been taking more and more walks late at night recently, always to the river. He liked how the gentle flow of the water calmed him, how the slight swaying of the trees in the wind put his mind at ease. It had been getting harder to sleep lately, Phil s overactive mind being at fault. He didnt even know what he was thinking about, or why, but there was a constant buzz in the back of his head which made falling asleep, or even relaxing, impossible. The river helped. Phil could focus on the leaves drifting down river and the smell of the dirt and grass and everything else seemed to fade away. It was the only place Phil could get any rest. The river was mostly hidden by the thick overgrowth that lined the streets and the houses in his neighbourhood. Phil never saw anyone else here. Until now. Dan had a bottle of vodka in one hand and a ciggerette in the other, and mind full of hate and anger that was fading away as he lay on

Judicial accountability is a principle that brings the concept of keeping the judiciary under scrutiny. It requires that the judiciary and judicial officers be held accountable for their actions while in office (Seibert Fohr Muller 2012, p.10). This essay is aimed at discussing these two principles and assess whether the change in the Australian judicial appointments process would enhance judicial independence and judicial accountability with a view of making recommendations where changes are necessary. Judicial independence The doctrine of judicial independence rests on three concepts. The first one is the security of tenure of office which is supposed to guarantee judicial officers freedom from the interferences by the parliament or the executive. The doctrine requires ... Remunerating judges lowly can cause them to receive payments and patronages from private individuals and end up ruling in their favor. In Australia, the remuneration of judges is fixed by the law and cannot be altered anytime during the time the judge is holding office. • 9. Most Appropriate Measure Of Center Of Statistical Data The most appropriate measure of center of this data set would be the median, or the arithmetic average. The median would be more suitable because the mean is more heavily influenced by outliers. In a skewed distribution, the mean would be pulled more towards the tail of the data where outliers exist, and the average value would be greater than that of the median. In this case, using the 1.5 x IQR rule, any departure time less than 19.5 or greater than 16.5 is an outlier. Hence, with multiple outliers present in the data, the median would not be influenced as heavily as the mean by outliers, and would give a more accurate representation of the average value of the set. If a point value is indicated by an equal or positive sign, this shows that the flight departed on time or late. The chosen random variable would be discrete. Although the data set is a large sample size of 500 values, it is still possible to list out all the outcomes of the data as a fixed set and assign probabilities to them. The values for departure delay times are also inputted as whole positive and negative integers with no decimal values. Decimal values are characteristic of a continuous random variable for an infinite sample space. Therefore, this another indicator that a discrete random variable would be ideal for a finite sample space. The binomial distribution would be suitable for the underlying distribution of X because a data point must either lie within or outside of the interval of a delayed departure. Hypothetically, if a value lies outside the range of 10 and 130, then this would mean that the flight will cancelled. A flight cannot depart to its destination too early or too late, as it would be considered an unreliable flight. Therefore, any time of departure that exceeds 10 or 130 cannot exist. The probability that a flight will depart early or on time is 71.0%. The probability that a flight will arrive late is 36.0%. The probability that a flight departs late or arrives early is 83.4%. Compared to each individual events probabilities of departing early or on time or arriving late, this percentage indicates that the chances of a

  • 16. Ambiguity In Benito Cereno Herman Melville s short story Benito Cereno or The Other Moby Dick as Greg Grandin, a contributing writer for Mother Jones magazine, refers to it, is a fictionalized account of an encounter that an American ship captain and seal killer /trader by the name of Amasa Delano had in February 1805 in the South Pacific (Grandin). Delano, who was quick to flog his men, was the sort of American sea captain Melville knew well and hated (Stuckey 271). Delano chronicled his encounter in A Narrative of Voyages and Travels, in the northern and southern hemispheres: comprising three voyages around the world, together with a voyage of survey and discovery in the Pacific Ocean and Oriental Islands (Boston, 1817). Arguably one of Melville s best works, Benito Cereno in all of its ambiguity is more than a fictionalized account of a seafaring vessel and its less than admirable captain, it is a historical reflection of what was happening in the world during the time it was written. Since its publication, Benito Cereno critics and casual readers alike have struggled to find clarity in Herman Melvilles chronicle of the slave ship San Dominick in his short storyBenito Cereno. In an attempt to disaggregate Melville s story, scholars have focused on various elements of the elusive tale. Articles have been written on a range of topics that run the gamut from the symbolic nature of the ships to Melville s purpose and intent in writing the story. To wit, Valenti asserts that

Autonomics and Stress Introduction: The autonomic nervous system, which is the division of the central nervous system that is not consciously controlled but regulates bodily functions, is influenced by stress. Stress can be defined as a stimulus that interrupts homeostasis within the body, either physiologically or psychologically. The influence that it has is innovation of the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) division of the ANS, and can include changes to skin conductance, heart rate, blood pressure, skin temperature and respiratory rate1. Under SNS activation, caused by stress, heart rate, skin temperature, respiratory rate, blood pressure and skin conductance will all increase1,2. This experiment aimed to choose a stressor that would influence autonomic measures and record the response. The choice of stressor used in this experiment was invasion of an individual s personal space, measured via skin conductance and heart rate. There is known to be a linear relationship between discomfort or tension and the invasion of personal space3 and this experiment aimed to test this response via autonomic parameters. For example the skin conductance measure would indicate sweat; if conductance increases there is less skin resistance due to the increase in sweat from SNS innovation, caused by the stressor1. The cardiovascular responses observed could be due to an inhibition of parasympathetic activity, activation of SNS or a mixture of both2,3. The null hypothesis for this experiment

Paul Boghossian Moral Relativism Over the last several decades, long established taboo, including the right to abortion, the right to death, and LGBTQIA+ rights have become much more acceptable throughout the United States. Consequently, it seems like basic moral norms are up to the interpretation of current and societal ideals. Moral relativism is the belief that the concepts of right and wrong exist only by comparison to a society s moral code. It is an enticing moral theory in a world where so little seems absolute. Paul Boghossian, author of The Maze of Moral Relativismtoo believes that this idea of relativism is gaining popularity and importance in contemporary culture. However, he not only believes that moral relativism is not true, but an illogical or incoherent moral theory. Moral relativism, he claims, cannot exist because there is no middle ground between moral absolutism, the idea that moral facts are true across all cultures and time, and moral nihilism, the rejection of all moralityas people understand it, including the ideas of right and wrong. Boghossian s argument is able to logically destroy moral relativism, leaving little option other than to accept that absolute morality exists somewhere. Boghossian first shows how moral relativism is not a viable theory by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These different conventions mean that the way to eat is not absolute. This does not, however, point to moral relativism. Though Boghossian concedes differences in customs across cultures, he does not equate convention to morality. Showing differences in behaviors actually damages the argument of the moral relativist further by making a strong case for the existence of moral

How Is Cimorene Justified In Dealing With Dragons In the story Dealing With Dragons, Patricia Wrede tells the tale of an intelligent princess who refuses to marry a prince and do what she was expected of a proper princess. In fictional story set in Medieval times, Cimorene decides to run away instead of dealing with her problems. Cimorene is justified ignoring expected social norms of the day because it did benefit her life but some people may disagree. First of all, Cimorene is justified in ignoring expected social norms of the day because running away was the only way to avoid what her father expected her to do as a proper princess would. For example, All in all, Linderwall was a very prosperous and pleasant place. Cimorene hated it. (Wrede 1). According to the Council on Foreign Relations, Jayshree Bajoria and Greg Bruno examine Al Qaeda as an international terrorist network that seeks to free Muslim countries of profane influence, and replace governments with fundamentalist Islamic regimes. Originating back to around 1988, Al Qaeda grew out of a Service Office, run by Osama bin Laden and Abdullah Azzam. The Services Office would recruit international Muslims from more than fifty countries, training, and financing them into foreign mujahedeen and holy warriors. Although Al Qaeda does not operate at a single headquarters, the bases of all operations are constructed either within Afghanistan, Pakistan or along the boarder (par. 2, 3, 4). A study conducted by the Institute for Safe Medical Practices (2004) found that 39% of the nurses encountered reluctance or refusal to answer questions or return phone calls or pages; 40% reported condescending language or voice intonation; and 42% reported impatience with questions on the part of physicians (Longo, 2010). Due to their status of being seen as revenue generators for the hospital, physicians have long been in positions of power within healthcare systems. Because of this, their disruptive behaviors may be ignored or the physician may be treated more leniently than other staff members. Hospital administrators historically have reinforced these behaviors by giving in to the demands of the physician (Longo, 2010). Disruptive behavior may affect the nurse in the form of stress, frustration, lack of concentration, breakdown in communication, and impaired information transfer (Iyer, n.d. ). Quaker had had previous success in launching their Gatorade jucies in larger sizes as consumers usually drank it after practice or a work out, and so, were considerably thirsty. These consumers found the larger sizes appealing as they needed to rehydrate, and the larger sizes enabled them to do that more efficiently. However, this same product/ packaging model did not work on the Snapple line, as Snapple was consumed by customers for a different reason. In the book by Susan Blackmore, it is mentioned that the reason why we cannot stop thinking is because there are too many memes in our memory that can find their place in the brain. Hence, we continuously keep on thinking, but at the cost of higher energy requirements. Indeed, thinking utilizes more brain power which in turn requires more oxygen for which more blood flow is required. Hence, in a nutshell, the more we think the more energy we consume and the more the genetically weaker our genes become as we are wasting more energy. What we see here that these... For this, the simple idea is not to produce offsprings. Simple. We need to control the meme replication. For this, we need to try to stop thinking. Difficult, but practice makes us perfect, or so they say. We need to control freme replication. For this, let me take you on this concept of a time machine. The photon clock example. Yes. As our speed increases, the value of the time decreases. This is all hypothetical and yes, impossible too. Later, I will explain why. Nevertheless, the analogy is interesting. We are saying that the longer the time the lesser number of ticks and hence smaller the value of time. This way. So the longer the time, the more the control as you could possibly do things more dexterously. So in order to control fremes, we need to decrease the meme activity and increase the freme activity, i.e. decrease the value of time as frequency = 1/ Time. So, what do we collect from all this? In order to reach a higher state we should ideally be away from the greed of This is what the ideal life of a saint is explained in the Jain text. • 44. Essentialist Theory Of The Queer Theory sexuality often impacts the success of claims made by bi sexual refugees. The author argues that this dominant understanding jettisons complex subjective positions and disregards varying realities. The refugee determination system misinterprets and misidentifies the lived experiences of bisexual claimants because of this knowledge, further disadvantaging this group of refugees. Rehaag observes that individuals seeking asylum on the basis of oppression for their bisexual tendencies have significantly higher rejection rates compared to other claimants. To investigate this assertion, Rehaag uses the queer theory as the main theoretical framework. According to Rehaag, the Queer theory is an interdisciplinary medium that examines the complex interactions between sexuality and gender, and conceptualizes such views of sexual orientation as essentialist. The essentialist view dichotomizes individuals as being either straight or gay on the basis of early childhood psychological factors or biological traits. Consequently, this essentialist argument comprehends sexual orientation as unchangeable and inflexible. Essentialists may, in selected instances, acknowledge groups beyond gay and straight, such as transgendered and bisexual individuals. Queer theorists reject the essentialist view arguing that these categories are not inflexible. Rather, these categories are regularly recreated through socio historical patterns or structured social exchanges. Consequently, the queer theory
