Mentorship Essay Nursing
Crafting an essay on the subject of mentorship in nursing presents a unique set of challenges.
Firstly, it requires a deep understanding of the intricacies of the nursing profession, including its
hierarchical structure, clinical practices, and the significance of mentorship within this
framework. Moreover, one must possess the ability to critically analyze the role of mentorship in
nursing, considering its impact on both the mentor and the mentee, as well as its implications for
patient care and professional development.
Furthermore, writing such an essay demands extensive research to gather relevant data, scholarly
articles, and real-world examples to support arguments effectively. It's essential to explore
various models of mentorship, such as the traditional apprenticeship model versus contemporary
coaching approaches, and evaluate their efficacy in different nursing contexts. Additionally,
discussing the qualities of an effective mentor and the skills required to facilitate successful
mentorship relationships adds another layer of complexity to the essay.
Moreover, navigating ethical considerations, such as power dynamics within mentorship
relationships and maintaining confidentiality, requires a nuanced approach. Balancing theoretical
frameworks with practical insights from experienced nurses or mentors can enrich the essay but
also requires careful integration to maintain coherence and relevance.
In summary, composing an essay on mentorship in nursing demands not only a comprehensive
understanding of the subject matter but also strong analytical and research skills to explore its
multifaceted nature fully. It entails delving into theoretical concepts, examining practical
implications, and addressing ethical concerns to present a well-rounded discussion. Overall, it's a
task that necessitates diligence, critical thinking, and a deep commitment to understanding the
complexities of mentorship within the nursing profession.

The Era of Prohibition
Prohibition was a very interesting era that lasted from 1919 to 1933 (Ian Tyrell). It
was a time where crime was at its highest. People where breaking the rules like
never before. Drinking was a tradition Americans have been doing for many
generations. Putting a ban on this substance seemed to many an injustice. They felt
as if the government were taking their rights away. Prohibiting this drink may have
caused things to go for worse. Alcohol has been socially acceptable for many years.
It s always used for ceremonies or celebrations. Without this substance a party would
never be a party. Prohibition was not ever going to work. Many Americans kept
drinking even if it was outlawed. They went out of their way to obtain this drink. If

It seems that this kind of activity or business is replacing the conventional way of
music distribution, which is selling records through store. In Indonesia, digital

most familiar one is RBT, Ring Back Tone. Almost everyone in the country use cell
phone and almost every cell phone has RBT, it is quite a fad actually. This is one of
the largest business in music industry and music publishers and companies are aware
that establishing cooperation with telecommunication provider is important. This
business is one of the highest income in music industry.

The Breaking Apart of South African Families
South Africa has long been known for the racist policies that were implemented by
the government during apartheid. In reality, many of these policies were introduced
before apartheid, and thus South Africa today is affected by centuries rather than just
a few decades of racism. The racial practice and policies of the nineteenth century that
developed out of South Africas mineral revolution were then carried into the
apartheid era, and are of particular importance for black South African families. The
desires of the white population to have sufficient labour and to monitor it while
reserving urban areas for whites occasioned the government to create restrictive laws
starting in the late nineteenth century which were carried into apartheid. These laws
and practices broke apart the South African black family and has resulted in enduring
consequences for black families and South Africa. With the mineral revolution,
African men began to leave their families to go and work. From the beginning of
European and African interaction in South Africa, the whites have been dependent
on African labour, the mineral revolution merely intensified this. It also led to an
agricultural revolution in order to feed the workers. African labour was cheaper
than white labour and so they were desired by employers. This demand for cheap
labour led to an availability of jobs which tempted some African men to migrate to
these areas of work. There was continually a shortage, however, and the government
Task Force For Gifted And Talented Education
Today s society is governed by one simple mantra: we all have our gifts. While this
is a relatively vague saying, there is one concrete definition of giftedness that is
seemingly undeniable, and that is the intellectual giftedness of young children. As
elucidated by the Federal Government, the term gifted and talented, when used with
respect to students, children, or youth, means students, children, or youth who give
evidence of high achievement capability in such areas as intellectual, creative,
artistic, or leadership capacity, or in specific academic fields, and who need services
or activities not ordinarily provided by the school in order to fully develop those
capabilities (Title IX, Part A, Definition 22). At first glance, this definition... Show

A paper presented in 2005 at the Australian Association for Research in Education
reports that ...gifted students and high achievers will experience an enhanced
school self concept due to the BFLP (big fish, little pond) effect through a
comparison with their average ability peers, their school self concept will be
lowered due to an assimilation effect when they affiliate themselves with their less
able peers (Yeung 4). This finding is particularly interesting because it calls the
efficacy of pulling gifted children out of regular classes and grouping them together.
In regular classes, the gifted student has an inflated sense of self worth, and yet as
soon as he is put into a room with like minded people, he begins to feel less adequate
and may fall back to an ordinary learning ability. This then results in the student s
frustration with his inability to grasp new material, and with the routine, repetitive
nature of daily life (Farmer). These feelings can persist throughout a lifetime, even as
gifted ability fades, resulting in feelings of depression, displacement, and the dreaded
phenomenon of burnout (Kesner

The United States And China
Like Athens and Sparta, were the United States and China drawn into a war neither
power wanted because of their alliances?
Introduction
The United States and China were eagerly ready to be drawn into the Korean War.
Why wouldn t they be? After WWII, Japan was forced to relinquish Korea, among
other territories that it claimed , and Korea was left to fend for herself. Korea was
managing but the country could not come to an agreement on a major topic: The
type of government the country should fall under as a unified nation. The northern
half, lead by Kim II Sung, wanted to operate under the communist rule; but the
southern half, lead by Syngman Rhee, wanted to operate under a democracy (non
communist and independent ruling). This was like a set of twin siblings arguing
and fighting over which of the two of them should carry the basketball as they walk
down the street to the basketball court. They are that they both want to play
basketball together but they can t agree on who should be in charge and carry the
ball. Well, the older and more experienced neighbors, The United Statesand China,
wanted to play too but since it was Korea s court, they decided to just sit back and
await a decision but could only bear to watch the argument and fight for so long.
They too had an opinion about who should carry the ball or should I say which
governmental theory to abide; therefore, they wanted to intervene.

Anatomics Of The Human Body During The Renaissance

More medical discoveries and advances are occurring every day. Medical treatments
and understanding of the human anatomy have come a long way. Though if it weren

human body which could have led to errors in surgery and more deaths while treating
patients. The Renaissance period was a time where Anatomists searched for clearer
understanding of the human body. During the Renaissance period, Anatomists
questioning and experimentation led to great discoveries of the human body. Wrong

People who believed in Galen s theories tried to explain how the pulmonary vein
would have air go down into the heart and also have a by product called sooty
vapours brought up into the lungs. Though there was a massive lack of evidence,
the Galen theory still stood as the correct theory ( About William Harvery ). Galen
s model was proven wrong by Renaissance anatomists. Despite Galen s model being
used for so many years, Vesalius proved the vena cava could not have come from the
liver. Realdo Columbo s experimentation also gathered information about the heart. It
was revealed that the systole phase of the heart is active as it constricts and pumped
blood into the arteries while the dystole phase is the inactive phase of the heart (
About William Harvery ). Harvey, inspired by Vesalius s discoveries, later
discovered the process of blood circulation in 1628 ( Renaissance medicine ).
Galen s theories were challenged by William Harvey s (About Williams Harvey).
Harvey observed sheep veins and arteries and even his own veins to discover blood
circulation. Harvey concluded that the veins in our bodies allowed the blood to
circulate( Medicine ). Harvey was able to prove Columbo s theory and discovered
that the heart worked as a muscle. The beating heart sent a shockwave to the arteries
which causes them to

FSD As Reflected In The Film Orgasm, Inc.
In recent years a mysterious disease called Female Sexual Dysfunction (FSD) has
captivated the marketplace and the general public. FSD has managed to cause mass
hysteria across the nation as women fear that they are abnormal or even diseased
because of the broad definition of sexuality being perpetuated by mass media. The
documentary OrgasmInc. explores the social construction of FSD, the role of drug
companies in defining FSD, and the resulting exploitation of women and the drug
market by the pharmaceutical companies.
Liz Canner, the filmmaker, consistently undermines the medical basis of FSD as she
interviews various companies, experts, and even women who believe they have FSD.

The medicalization of such a social problem and the broad symptoms of FSD are
in part due to role of pharmaceutical companies in defining the disease itself. Liz
Canner asks a representative of the pharmaceutical company VIVUS how they can
make a drug for such a new, ambiguous disease and is shocked by her response. The
representative talked about how VIVUS defines the disease, suggesting that the
disease is to be defined and interpreted by pharmaceutical companies rather than by
unbiased medical professionals. A study done on FSD that made headlines across
America claimed that 43% of women showed symptoms of FSD, yet the researcher
who made these claims was being paid by a drug company. The researcher had
originally said that many of these women who fall into the infamous 43% actually
showed normal sexual responses. By the time the incorrect statement had been
retracted, it was already too late because the media had relentlessly pushed the
statistic. Pharmaceutical companies
The Effect On Climate Change
Basic functions of the UNFCCC play into its power and authority over addressing
greenhouse gas emissions, while maintaining presence in the international
community. Such emissions make up a substantial portion of impact on climate
change; therefore, the UNFCCC targets areas that produce the most emissions. The
ways in which the UNFCCC minimally, but not adequately, regulates climate change
is through two agreements. The two treaties are the Kyoto Protocolthe Paris
Agreement (COP 21). In 2016, the Kyoto Protocol expires which the Paris
Agreement replaces. Under the Kyoto Protocol, some of the major producers of
greenhouse gasemissions are targeted. During the initial negotiations of the Kyoto
Protocol, many of the top producers of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once the Nation s sign, the commitment to reducing the emissions is the second step
towards change. Yet some of the lower ranked emitters pledged to cut back more than
the top producers. In fact, some developing nations (process of transitioning to a
market economy) committed to reducing more than the top producers) (United
Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change 1998) (Damassa, Friedrich, Ge
2014) ( Status of Ratification of the Kyoto Protocol 2014). Five of the top producers
of greenhouse gas emissions are considered the most influential or powerful Nations.
These powerful nations are (ranked from highest to lowest) United States, Russia,
China, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Japan, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and the
United Arab Emirates (Clark 2017). All of the Countries listed were ranked according
to its economy, politics or political influence, cultural influence (including art),
education, natural resources, environmental change, exports of arms, imports of
arms, military spending, and military size. Overall, these Nations share in influence
on other smaller nations. This is key in determining the lack of effectiveness of the
UNFCCC. The convention failed to get the top producer of emissions and the third
most powerful nation to sign the Protocol in December of 1998. These Countries not
only set the stage for economic relations but also for the environment. Environmental

Introduction
Thesis: Since the 9/11 terrorists attacks, terrorism has extended far beyond the United
States and into other nations such as Africa. Even though these acts of aggressions
take place outside of the United States, the government should have the capability to
counteract groups who engage in the terrorism without fear of reprisal. Therefore, the
establishment of a new Combatant Command for Africa (AFRICOM) should mark an
important milestone in the prevention of the terrorist attacks against the United
States. Africa Command in partnership with African countries will help protect and

policymakers have devoted a significant amount of resources in recent years to study
the strategic importance of Africa. They have noted Africa s growing strategic
importance to U.S. interests. Among those interests is the aggregate significance of
Africa s natural resources, principally energy capitals, and growing concerns over
violent radical activities and other potential threats posed by under governed spaces,
such as maritime piracy and illicit trafficking. In addition, there is an ongoing concern
for Africa s many humanitarian crises, armed conflicts, and more everyday
challenges that undermine the stability of the African continent, such as the
devastating effect of HIV/AIDS. The establishment of U.S. Africa Command in
response to these challenges correctly illustrated the strategic importance of Africa.
Hence, by emphasizing the relationships between security, development, diplomacy
and prosperity in Africa, the Department of Defense (DoD) intends to better focus its
resources on supporting and enhancing existing U.S. initiatives to help African
nations and the regional economic communities succeed. However, to accomplish
this mission, the DoD must expand AFRICOM s functions including its objectives
and priorities beyond just military

In the 1980 s hardly anyone knew what a DOS attack was, most people hadn t ever

commercially made, very expensive, but was a very strong Operating System.
Because of the price of equipment, many people wouldn t get into computers, but
there was no reason to. Nothing of great significance was stored on computers.
By 1985, computers hit the mainstream, providing many universities with links to

Before long, every hacker and their brother knew how to find a big error in the Unix
code on any server. They exploited the servers with many different attacks, mostly
being troublesome for no reason. Phone lines and networks were taken down left
and right, and many devices came about to help deal with the phone system. Many
phreakers had developed boxes, named by color, that would do things to the phone
network, just by holding it up to the reciever to play recorded tones. There was the
red box: A box that could get you free long distance calls. There was a beige box: A

With the growth of the hackers, many new ways of protecting your systems had to

A Brief Description of Major Depressive Disorder Essay
The word depression has become a common everyday word. We hear the term
depression so frequently today, it s even used in the contexts of jokes. For
example you may hear someone say My favorite show is over, now I have nothing
to watch, I m so depressed . Obviously this person is not depressed, but we have
come to overuse it in our expressions, to the point that is takes away from the
seriousness of this disorder. Major depressive disorderis a mood disorder
characterized by at least two weeks of depressed mood or loss of interest in nearly all
activities, along with sleep or eating disturbances, loss of energy, and feelings of
hopelessness (Kosslyn, Rosenberg, 2006). This mood disorder is characterized by a

Major depressive disorder is found among all cultural and ethnic groups, as well as,
among people of all socioeconomic groups (Kosslyn, Rosenberg, 2006). According to
the World Health Organization (2004), major depressive disorder is currently third on
the burden of disease list. Surprisingly, major depressive disorder ranks higher than
heart disease, strokes, and traffic accidents. Though the prevalence of major
depressive disorder is undisputed among mental health practitioners the preferred
treatment modality is disputed.
I think it is important to look at depression as something that isn t cured; rather it s
something that is managed. There are many ways that therapists choose to treat
depression. After doing research about the various types, it seems that Cognitive
Behavioral Therapy, CBT, is the most effective at managing depression (Klosko,
Sanderson, 2000). CBT is used as a tool; it focuses in on finding cognitive reasons for
negative feelings and actions, and then attempts to train the brain to work around
these cognitive obstacles on the road to actualization. In other words CBT modifies
the negative thoughts that lead to negative behavior; by preventing the negative
thoughts you are also preventing the negative behavior associated with depression. I
like this treatment because it is based on the logical idea that our thoughts cause our
behaviors, rather than
Materialism In Wlf And Eadwacer
The poem Wulf and Eadwacer displays a number of typical characteristics
associated with the genre of the Old English Elegies. In this essay I aim to identify
such defining characteristics and discuss why, from Paul Muldoon s translation,
Wulf and Eadwacer is in every sense an Old English Elegy. I will examine the
environment in which the poem is set, the theme of social isolation, the lif is laene
motif, the ubi sunt lamentation and the medieval concept of wyrd . I will highlight
and support with examples how each of these features are present themselves and
their significance in the classification of this poem as an Old English Elegy.
A key feature of Medieval writing is the environment in which the poem is set. This

The poem is a mere nineteen lines in length and in some academic opinions is more
like a riddle than an elegy, but as Anne L. Klinck says in The Old English Elegies: A
Critical Edition and Genre Study , Indeed, the poem s riddling quality is an essential
ingredient, although it has far greater cogency as a love lament . The unnamed
speaker seen in the poem is held in common with the elegies The Wanderer and The
Seafarer and is yet another aspect affirming the poems classification as an Old English
The Flea, By Andrew Marvell
John Donne s, The Flea, and Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress are persuasive
poem in which the speaker is attempting to establish a sexual union with his
significant other. These poems is spoken by a male lover to his female beloved as an
attempt to convince her to sleep with him. John Donne and Marvell brings out and
shapes this meaning through his collective use of conceit, rhythm, and rhyme
scheme. The basic theme of the poems is the speaker s need to turn his coy mistress
into a willing mistress .
Donne uses the flea as a conceit, to represent a sexual union with his significant
other. Marvell using his way with words to convince his lover to a sexual union. In
the first stanza in The Flea, a flea bites the speaker and woman. He responds to this
incident by saying, And in this flea our bloods mingled be. (line 4). He is
suggesting that they are united in this flea and would equally be united in
intimacy. In the first stanza of To His Coy Mistress , the speaker tells his woman
that if they had more time and space that her coyness wouldn t be a crime. He says
this, Had we but World enough, and Time, This coyness lady were no crime . (line
1,2) Marvell also would compliment her and admire her. In the Flea , the speaker
tries to marry the man and woman while in To His Coy Mistress the man is not
trying to marry the
Duncan 2 two but trying to get the lady to sleep with him by using time. Donne
states, This flea is you and I, and this our marriage bed, and
PAIND Pain Assessment
People with advanced dementia are unable to communicate pain levels and the Pain
assessment in Advanced Dementia (PAINAD) scale can assist in determining pain
levels in individuals with cognitive impairment.
Jack has advanced Alzheimer s disease (AD) stage, which is a neurogenerative
disorder with cerebral cortex atrophy from neurons and synapses loss (de Tommaso,
Kunz Valeraini, 2017). Common symptoms include memory and language deficits,
orientation problems, mood changes and unable to perform activities of daily living
(Kilmova Kuca, 2016). Jack is non fluent, has comprehension difficulties and unable
to verbally express himself (Kilmova Kuca, 2016) Research has shown residents with
poor mobility generally have a high occurrence of pain and there is an interaction
between pain, cognitive impairment and behavioural disturbances (Miu, Chan,
2014). Consequently, Jack after his fall three months ago, may be being resistance to
staff due to pain. David is concerned about his dad s behavioural change and
wondering if pain is the cause.

An Analysis Of Stories Of Me And I Don T Remember A...
INTRO Paul Kelly is an ambitious musician who is praised for his uniquely
Australian musical compositions and poetry. He has composed over 400 songs
which each present elements of his own life; both struggles and success. His
bodies of work are ultimately important in reflecting the many different characters
he takes on; the heartthrob, the bad boy and even the legendary Australian. These
characters and many more highlight Kelly s diverse range of personality similar
to that of a shape shifter. Denial is a heavily featured subject matter in Stories of
Me and I Don t Remember a Thing, songs of which subsequently explore the
insubordinate element of his multi personality. Denial is especially interesting in
how it explores initial shame but also an honest reflection of one s actions, this is
what I ll be examining with you today. BODY 1 Shame is something we all
experience at least once in our lifetimes, we all know that horrible feeling; it starts
as a lingering thought then slowly chips away at your soul until there isn t a
moment in the day where you don t feel guilt. And you ll get over it soon, but until
then all you can do is wish you could take back the time. Depending on one s
character, this interphase can often evolve into denial. Stories of Me begins as
many moments of shame do, I woke up with a heavy head on a hard bed trying to
believe... Yeah I woke up in a stranger s bed wondering about the things she said to
me, these stories of me, these stories of me.
U.s. Department Of The Criminal Justice Field
In my Special Topics in Geography course, the instructor Dr. Hilburn had assigned
my peers and I to do a map of anything that interests us by applying all the skills and
knowledge that we have learned during the semester. During my research of opting of
what should I do my map about I focused myself within the study field in which I am
majoring so, I started researching anything that is related to the criminal justice field.
A key factor that helped me determined what should the topic of my map focus on
was the notion that I live in a border town that is next to Mexico. Eventually, I
decided to do a map that will focus at a state level on the territories within Mexico
that transnational criminal organizations have a dominant influence. According to the
U.S. Department of Justice National Drug Intelligence Center, drug cartels can be
define as ...large, highly sophisticated organizations composed of multiple [Drug
Trafficking Organizations] DTOs and cells with specific assignments such as drug
transportation, security/enforcement, or money laundering (2010). Also, it is
mention within this national drug threat assessment that was done by the U.S.
Department of Justice, that the greatest drug trafficking threat to the United States is
Mexico (2010). With this been said one can understand that the roots majority of the
criminal groups that operate domestically within the U.S. can be traced back to
Mexico. So, in order to understand how this criminal organizations form

Living Underneath The Mask of Toughness
When I was younger, I would visit my cousins and aunt every single day. My aunt
lived in an apartment and even though it was small, all of my cousins and I would
always be together playing. While my cousin and I were playing with Polly Pockets
and doll houses as girls are expected to, I remember my boy cousin wanting to play
with us. He would always love playing with toys and it didn t matter to him if it was
labeled as for a boy or for a girl. As long as he was having fun, he didn t care what he
played with or what color it was. Looking back now, I remember that the minute
his step dad saw him playing with a pink toy or a doll, he would instantly freak
out. He would say something like, Hey that s for girls! or Why are you playing
with a girl toy, you faggot! I didn t understand why he was so against my cousin
playing with a toy that wasn t boy ish. It became clear to me that since early
childhood, boys are forced to act more masculine and hide underneath a mask of
toughness. Having to always act tough and hide feelings as boys may lead to them
dealing with several consequences throughout their lives. So, what exactly is
masculinity? Masculinity is having qualities appropriate to or usually associated with
a man ( masculinity ). In other words, being masculine is being tough , powerful,
strong, or acting aggressive as a man. American society socializes
Naomi Shihab Nye s Work
Words cannot describe how much I needed Naomi Shihab Nye s work in my life.
Just as she said in her short story, which also happens to be one of my favorite
works of hers, My Boyfriend, John Mayer , I noticed with some interest how a
person who is down seems much improved when faced with someone who is more
down than they are. It s all a matter of degrees (Nye, 175). It has been so long since
a poem, or a set of poems, has resonated so deeply within my person. Of course
from time to time I come across one that will make me reminisce or truly think
deeper than what is due the next class period, but in the blaring monotony of an
unsatisfying daily routine shoved me low enough I hadn t stopped for a moment to
see others who were even farther down than I was. In an attempt to find who we are
and what we want to do in life, I feel like we often abandon who we are at the given
moment in attempt to capture whatever farfetched idea pops into our head or on our
Facebook timeline that inspires us for a brief moment that we need more. More what?
Entertainment? Adventure?
In all reality we don t need anything. If we take a moment to stop, look around us
and take it all in, we are blessed beyond measure. I am blessed enough to have the
opportunity to stress about finals week in a college course that I don t even have to
pay for out of my own pocket. Someone who does a brilliant job of highlighting
moments
that I would never think twice of glancing right over is Naomi Shihab Nye.

The holocaust was the systematic killing of over 6 million Jews by the Nazis and
their partners. Although many Jews were killed, many were also able to survive the
gruesome times ahead of them, such as the Brichta Family and the Grossman Family.
The Bricta family consisted of Hermann Brichta, Toni Brichta, Franz Brichta, and
their close relative Fritz Wasservogel. Hermann Brichta was born on a farm in
1897 surrounded by neighboring Czechs. Hermann was an active participant in
WWI and was discharged from the army in 1921. He was aware of his Jewish
ancestry, but thought of it as a nationality, not a religion. Toni Bricta and Fritz
Wasservogel were both born on June 26 1892 in Berlin. When they were the age of
10, their father died so there were sent to separate orphanages, Toni became the
clerk of Berlin branch of the Allianz or at the Victoria of Berlin Life offices, and
Fritz joined the Dresdner Bank straight from orphanage. Franz Brichta, born on
January 30th, 1933 was the only one out of his entire family who was able to survive
the holocaust.

Globalization in Argentina has affected the country in numerous ways. There are

The reforms caused a period of success followed by worse conditions. These
policies made the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Towards the end of the
1990s the country experienced rising unemployment and decreasing wages. The
privatization of industries in addition to the international debt and government
corruption led to many citizens distrusting the government and failure to pay taxes
thus keeping the problems still at large. Unfortunately, the fragile Argentine
economic infrastructure, while seemingly strong, was not able to withstand the
downturn in the world economy after the severe correction of the both the Dow
Jones Industrial Average and NASDAQ stock markets in the United States in
March 2000 and the terror attacks of September 11, 2001. The widespread
economic failure caused the Argentine peso to become devalued and this caused
extreme inflation in prices. In June of 2002 the peso was valued at just $0.26 of a
U.S. dollar. The unemployment rates skyrocketed as well hitting over 25% in most
parts of the country and the poverty rate increased from 30% in 1999 to over 50% in
2002. The benefits of globalization in Argentina were short lived but still vital in the

Following their success in North Africa, the Allied decision to invade Sicily was an
appropriate next step towards defeating Axis powers. Operation HUSKY, the first
phase of the Italian campaign, supported the Allied strategic goals of opening
Mediterranean shipping lanes, diverting German forces off of the Eastern front and
encouraging Italy to exit the Axis. HUSKY resulted in Allied Forces securing the
island, despite leadership failures and the ineffective coordination of joint functions at
the operational level. A two part analysis of the Allied Force operational level joint
functions during Operation HUSKY follows. The first will evaluate the joint function
of command and control using the three attributes of mission command from joint
doctrine: commander s intent, mutual trust, and understanding. The second will
evaluate the integration of two of the remaining joint functions using the definition of
integration from joint doctrine. The Joint Force Commander (JFC) utilizes command
and control to exercise authority over assigned and attached forces within his or her
command. Command provides direction and motivation to individuals and units,
whereas control is the task of managing forces and the associated tasks required to
accomplish the mission. Effective command and control successfully balances the art
of command with the science of control and strengthens the commander s ability to
make and execute decisions. Mission command advances command and control
Intrinsic And Extrinsic Motivations
4.What motivates you extrinsically? What are your intrinsic motivations? How do
you balance extrinsic and intrinsic motivation in your life?
In terms of extrinsic motivations, I think that I am motivated by praise, reputation,
and financial gain. While money is not the most important aspect of a career, I
would like to earn a salary that helps me maintain a modest living. Being self aware,
I realize that I want a career where I can help others, which is an intrinsic motivation.
This is another reason why I was unhappy in my accounting co op position,
because it was very difficult for me to accomplish tasks that didn t help others. As a
result, I wouldn t take a lucrative job offer if it didn t provide me with benevolent
job responsibilities. In order to balance my intrinsic and extrinsic motivations, I think
that compromise is key. Since life s challenges can interfere with one s morals, I
realize that it may be difficult to compromise in certain situations. However, I think
that success in the business world ultimately stems from ethical actions, because it
will cultivate trust within your customers. As a result, my goal is to work for
companies who care about their stakeholders, because the results will pay off in the
long run.
Not to sound like a millennial clichГ©, but I want my work to be meaningful for
others and myself. This objective stems from my intrinsic motivations, but praise
from colleagues, superiors, and customers will ensure that my work is meaningful.

The Qualification of Daphne Du Maurier s Rebecca as a Gothic Novel One of
mankind s most valuable gifts is the ability to feel emotions and be able to react to
them in a variety of ways. One of these emotions can be recognized as horror.
Horror can be directly related as an immense sensation of fear, anxiety, and despair.
Horror is adored by some and abhorred by others. Most importantly, there exist many
sources for frightening media and information. One genre of literature that tends to
provide horror can be known as Gothic Literature. Within this genre, many books
serve as accurate representations. Rebecca by Daphne Du Mauriermost definitely
qualifies as a Gothic novel due to its precise portrayal of multiple elements of Gothic
Literature such as eerie settings, presence of distressed characters, and unfortunate
events combined with bad weather. Before examining Rebecca s validity as an
accurate representation of Gothic literature, it is imperative for one to understand the
definition and origin of this genre. Gothic literature is a style of writing which
involves, ... mystery and supernatural horror, often set in a dark castle or other
medieval setting (Dictionary). One of the most interesting facts of Gothic literature is
that its origins are diverse considering that it developed as a sub branch of
Romanticism. This genre developed from numerous prior plays and writings which
discussed superstition, the evident supernatural, and various demons. An

not found in nature; they are products of human initiative... (Gillis 99). This quote
said by John R. Gillis brings up a very important discussion. Are coastlines found in
nature or have they been built into something we as humans wanted them to be?
When the quote is first read, it may be easy to say of course coastlines exist in nature
because they are nature. Although, when looking at it deeper one must ask what is
the definition of nature. Nature is defined as the physical world collectively,

Without those piles and bulkheads those houses would not be able to be there. Which
is an example of changing nature to support the want we have to live on the coast.
This was seen also in San Francisco in the mid 1800 s.
The gold rush hit San Francisco in 1849 and in two years the town of 1,000 people
turned into a large coastal city of 25,000 people. The land behind the bay was
mountains and was not a good fit for expanding the city so they built near the shore.
As the city grew throughout the years a need for more land increased. They began
to build into the bay and actual changed the outline of the coast entirely. They used
the steam paddy to fill in large areas of the San Francisco s coast. As they began to
make land and build on it numerous problems began to be discovered. Besides
physically changing the entire shoreline of San Francisco, it created man traps that
were uneven fillings of land that would sink when people stepped on them, it also
created seismic hazards, which was seen by the 1906 Earthquake, and fire hazards,
which was also seen by the Great Fire of 1851 (Dyl Lecture). This is a perfect
example of a coast being a product of human initiative. As the need for land
increased along the coast we as people had no problem changing the coast. J.D.

Retention is not only important to reduce the turnover costs but to retain talented
employees. According to Ramlall (2004), when every 10 managerial level employee
leaves an organization, a company experiences approximately loss of $ 1 million.
2.1. Employee Turnover
Rotation of workers around the labour market between the status of employment and
unemployment is called as Employee turnover (Abassi and Hollman 2000). Labour
turnover has become a critical problem for service industries as it depends on human
factor. Employees do not leave the organization without any significant reason. Taris
et al. (2004), divided two motives for turnover i.e. the push and pull factors. The pull
factors include inequity in compensation, availability of opportunities for future
development over the external market and the employees who would resign to go
into private business. The push factors have relationship with the dissatisfaction of
work situation, lack of democratic managerial pattern and job stress. On the other
hand, Griffieth (2000), viewed remuneration and remuneration related variables have
intense effect on turnover. Griffieth demonstrated a relationship between
remuneration, employee s performance and turnover and concluded that when an
employee performs extremely well expects a high pay and when they are paid low
they quit.
There are various costs associated with turnover, according to Society for Human
Resource Management, it costs 30 50%

major battle in the Western Theater of the American Civil War, fought April 6 7,
1862, in southwestern Tennessee. A Union force known as the Army of the
Tennessee under Major General Ulysses S. Grant had moved via the Tennessee
River deep into Tennessee and was encamped principally at Pittsburg Landing,
Tennessee on the west bank of that river, where the Confederate Army of Mississippi,
under General Albert Sidney Johnston and second in command Pierre G. T.

Johnston hoped to defeat Grant s army before the anticipated arrival of General
Buell s Army of the Ohio. The Confederate battle lines became confused during the
fierce fighting, and Grant s men instead fell back to the northeast, in the direction of

Hornet s Nest, defended by the men of Brig. Gens. Benjamin Prentiss s and William
H. L. Wallace s divisions, provided critical time for the remainder of the Union line
to stabilize under the protection of numerous artillery batteries. Wallace was mortally
wounded when the position collapsed, while several regiments from the two
divisions were eventually surrounded and surrendered. General Johnston was shot in
the leg and bled to death while personally leading an attack. Beauregard, his second
in command, acknowledged how tired the army was from the day s exertions and
decided against assaulting the final Union position that

A Complicated Kindness Movie Analysis
In the novel, A complicated kindness, the protagonist Naomi contemplates on
escaping from her fundamentalist hometown. Her melancholic bond with the
hometown as for its kindness, even though she s homesick at home , and her
problem with progressing towards an actual end, tragically leave her out in the
community where she gets deserted. In this regard this story is a tragedy. While the
narration breaks the conventional line of storytelling about runaway, it unfolds in
irony as to balance or to counter the dark events. In this way this story is a comedy.
For these reasons a film adaptation of the novelwill fall into comedy drama genre. On

of the share, types of shares, negotiation of shares in more deep details, loan stock
(Debentures) and the last thing is the loss and destruction of shares and
debentures. I try to collect as much as I can from the UAE Law. Finally, this project
adds a good value to me and I hope it will be a good paper.

It only states that it is the property of its bearer. This type of shares is transferred
through delivery. Its holder is the owner before the company.
3)Capital shares and enjoyment shares:
Enjoyment shares are the shares whose value was consumed. The capital shares are
those whose value was not consumed.
Consumption means returning the value of shares to shareholders before the
company dissolution. In principle, this return should not happen because the
company member has the right to stay in it. However the consumption of shares
seems necessary in certain cases. If the company property, for instance, decays with
the passage of time such as mines and quarries. These companies consume shares
during their life so that shareholders don t find themselves unable to retrieve their
share value upon termination of the company.
Often, share consumption is made through assigning a part of profit each year to
consume a part of shares by draw. The shareholder whose share was consumed
receive the nominal value as well as an enjoyment share granting him a right to
company profit and a right to vote in the general assembly.
4)Ordinary shares and preference shares:
In principle, shares are of equal value and they grant shareholder equal rights. The
company statute may, however, stipulate that the company issue preference shares
granting preferential rights relative to profits, voting or liquidation proceeds.

Binary Opposition in Novel Frankenstein
There is some binary opposition in the novel Frankenstein: * Life Death * Good
Evil * Human Monster * Right Wrong * Male Female * Loyalty Betrayal *
Teacher Student * Parent Child * Science Nature * Protagonist Antagonist * Success
Failure * Land Sea * Knowledge Feeling * Innocence Guilty * Fire Ice * Rich Poor
As for the theme for the Novel Frankenstein, I choose the binary opposition Life
Death. Beside of the fact that there are a lot of characters who died in the novel, for
every life or death event, there are always something big to happen that follows. The
Life event starts when Victor was born; he was the only child so all of his parents

That is when they made an agreement, the monster will stay far way from Victor
and his family as long as possible, but he has to make another creature as the
monster s wife. Victor, who at first agreed with the deal, later realizes that it could
be dangerous if there is more than one monster in this world. He broke his promise
which makes the monster angry. It promised to come on his wedding night. After
that, the monster killed Henry Clarvel, Victor s best friend. Victor was not only
sad mentally, but he also sick physically because of his sadness. When he started to
recover, he marries Elizabeth, but then again, the monster killed Elizabeth in her
wedding night. Victor s father who cannot stand the sadness anymore passed away.
These people s deaths have cause a lot of changes in Victor s feeling. Victor, who at
first afraid of the monster, become more brave to kill the monster by his own hand.
That is why he decided to go and find the monster. The story ended with Victor s
death because of his age and tiredness after chasing the monster anywhere. The
monster who actually doesn t have any purpose anymore since Victor passed away,
decided to commit suicide by burning itself in the Arctic. So, this story is dominated
by the Life Death events which remark every important and major steps of the story.
Victor s obsession of making living thing, his mixed feelings, his chase the monster
journey, and the tragedy in his love life, it all starts because of his family member s
Interpretation of Good Country People by Flannery...
In Flannery O Connor s short story Good Country People Flannery shows and
teaches us, you cannot judge a book by its cover, not even a bible. Though Hulga
seems as if she has a heart as cold as ice, you learn how vulnerable she is. You also
encounter a character named Manley Pointer. Who puts on a facade of being a
good country boy, and a Christian who sells bibles. Symbolism plays a major role in
the way that these characters are seen through out the story and how they perceive
themselves. Multiple objects presented in the story initially may be props. The reader
soon discovers these props to be extremely important, and necessary to how the story
unfolds. These props symbolically represent the personalties of the characters who...

attitude in her. Her weakness is the feeling of power she believes she gained from
her studies. When in fact as educated as she is, Manley Pointer has blinded her
with his ways. She calls herself a person who sees through nothing. (pg. 144) Little
does she know that she is stating her greatest weakness by saying this. Her hidden
desires and fantasies cause her several problems later in the story. After years of
education and self absorption, Hulga felt that she had no weakness, though she was
biologically flawed. Her line of thinking turned out to be another symbolism and a
weakness. Her weak heart symbolizes her emotional problems. She does not love
anyone therefore, she thinks she is incapable of being hurt or having a weakness
when it comes to people. This is obviously refuted when she gives into to the
manipulation of Pointer Manley. I am not the only one who sees these connections

Composite Essay
1.1 Definition
The terminology composites extensively advert to a material system composed of the
following:
A discrete constituent ( reinforcement)
A continuous phase(Matrix).
Thus, generally a composite can be termed as a material composed of a discrete
constituent distributed in a continuous phase and derives its distinguishing
characteristics form the properties of the constituents , from the spatial shape and the
design of the constituents, and from the properties of the interfaces between different
constituents.
1.2 Classification Composites on the basis of the physical or chemical nature of the
matrix phase are usually classified as:
Metal Matrix Composites (MMC s)
Polymer Matrix Composites (PMC s)
Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMC s)
1.2.1Metal Matrix Composites (MMC s): Metal matrix composite structure is
specifically the term for metal alloy and the material in the form of strengthening.
The matrix is percolating soft part commonly having exquisitely the following :
2.Tensile strength
3.Hardness
4.Ductility
5.Thermal conductivity
6.Toughness For metal matrix light metal composite materials are stirred with light
metal alloys. For the purpose of solidification powder alloys conferred mainly for the
production of metal matrix.

The First Japanese Dive Bombers
At 0755 the first Japanese dive bombers appeared over Hickam Field as well as
Ford Island with seconds between the two. Enemy torpedo planes and dive
bombers swung in from various sectors to concentrate their attack on the heavy
ships moored in Pearl Harbor. This was the beginning on the attack which would
last for several hours destroying much of the Navy s Pacific Fleet. The Empire of
Japan surprised the US with the intention of crippling the country s defenses,
destroy the Pacific Fleet. Crippling America so they wouldn t be able to fight back
as Japan s armed forces spread across the South Pacific. On December 7, after
months of planning and practice, the Japanese launched their attack. On this day
we lost more than 2,500 people wounded at least 1,000 more. Of the ships 18 was
lost and or damaged and the largest death toll was from the USS Arizona where half
of the casualties occurred. According to the US Navy s after action report of the
day 7 December, 1941 With the dropping of the first bombs on Ford Island,

The Conceivability Argument
Introduction:
Substance Dualism is the idea that the mind and body are distinct from one another. It
argues that the world consists of two independent substances, the mental and the
material, each with its own unique and defining characteristics. RenГ© Descartes, a
French Philosopher, first introduced The Conceivability Argument for dualism in his
Sixth Meditation hundreds of years ago and it has been criticized ever since. In this
argument he proposes that the mind and the body are separate substances with
independent existence because he can conceive of his mind existing in a universe that
consists of no material things. In this paper, I will argue that even though Descartes
argument is valid, it s not sound due to the strength of objections that arise from the
weaknesses in its structure.
Argument: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hume s law states that if we can conceive of something then it is logically possible.
Leibniz s law on the other hand says that if X has a property that Y lacks, X and Y
are different. Descartes starts the argument by stating that as a thinking thing, he
can conceive existing without a physical extended body. Due to Hume s law,
anything that he can conceive of is therefore logically possible. Using Leibniz s
law, if it is logically possible that X (mind) exists without Y (body), then X (mind) is
not identical to Y (body). In conclusion, Descartes states that as a person with a mind
he is not identical to his physical
Compare and Contrast of Classical Ballet and Modern
Dance...
Compare and Contrast of Classical Ballet and Modern Dance
Dance is one of the most beautiful, expressive forms of art known to mankind. It
expresses joy, love, sorrow, anger, and the list truly goes on for all the possible
emotions that it can convey. Dance not only can express how one feels, but it can
tell a story or even be used to praise a higher power. Dance has intricately played an
important role to every culture over the course of time. Two forms of dance that have
not only stood against the test of time but have influenced the development of other
various styles of dance is none other than Classical Ballet and Modern Dance.

Petipa s production of Swan Lake is a beautiful example of the structure
movements that dancers must perform; in the clip titled Odile entrance Black Swan
pas de deux, you see The Black Swan perfect posture and balance, dancing on en
Pointe all the while managing to gracefully seduce the prince through her seductive
movements and entrancing expressions. In contrast Modern dance focus is on the
dancer expressing their inner most emotions and feelings through free flowing
movements. The modern dancer uses their whole body more naturally and fluidly to
convey what their current emotional state is, unlike classical ballet where the
ballerina at all times keeps an upright posture, and performs with structured, angular
lines. Martha Graham s Frontier is a great example of the free movements of
Modern dance; In this performance Martha Graham uses her whole body to move to
the rhythmic sounds of the drums and music, you can clearly see that there is no
confined structure in this performance, she is completely moving organically to how
she is feeling and what she is trying to convey through her movements. Classical
ballet took a step forward and revived prominent roles for men; whom previously the
Romantic era had solely focused on the art of the
The Causes Of Food-Borne Illness
This year, four million Canadians will be affected by a food borne illness, 11 600
will need hospitalization, and 238 of them will die (Thomas et al., 2015). Food
borne illness refers to any illness caused by ingesting food or drink contaminated by
microbes or toxic substances (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2017).
Moreover, the foodmarket offers a variety of products to meet customers expectations
and this market must to ensure the food quality, especially when it is related to food
safety. For years, dairy products, processed food and vegetables have been
associated with recalls. In addition, the aliments should be free from pathogens
because they may cause diseases, and some can lead to death. Bacteria such as E.
coli, Listeria, Norovirus, Salmonella, Staphylococcus and Clostridium are cited as the
most dangerous food pathogens able to cause significant harm to human health or
even hospitalization (Thomas et al., 2015; Wang Salazar, 2016; Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention, 2017). For example, E.coli can contaminate multiple
categories of food including dairy, meats, vegetables and processed food and cause
significant health issues (Zwietering et al., 2016). Listeria is another pathogen that
frequently appears in food poisoning outbreaks. Food contamination may occur at any
stage of the food chain (harvesting, production, farming, storing) or even in people s
homes. (Mani et al., 2017). With the advent of technology and the improvement of
Microbiologytechniques, the detection of pathogens has been improving and
ensuring new guidelines regarding hygiene, food conservation, and manufacturing
process (Arpaia, 2017). By this, it has been vital to developing accurate and efficient
methods to detect pathogens, supervise, and track the food processing chain. Due to
the possibility the food contamination from the farm (harvesting or abattoir) to people
s consumption (finished product and storage), the food production must be regulated
to guarantee the quality of the nutrition (Arpaia, 2017). Therefore, the food producers
and the distributors need to follow some rules to prevent food poisoning because this
is an important threat to human health (Mani et al., 2017). For instance, in
Medea And Oedipus Rex
Rough Draft #2
The answer to the question of whether personal desires affect people s actions more
than the influence of others may seem like a one sided answer. However, upon
closer inspection, it is acceptable to say that although some would argue that people
s own desires dictate their actions, the influences of others play a more prominent
role in how an individual acts. The Greek tragedies Medea and Oedipus Rex are both
stories that explore this controversial topic. Oedipus Rex follows the story of a
king named Oedipus. His land is plagued, and the only way to get rid of this plague
is to exile the one who killed the previous ruler of Thebes. Oedipus begins his search,
along the way communicating with people that help him learn ... Show more content

10). These characteristics she develops and the actions she takes are an outcome
solely due to the outside influence of Jason. Robert B. Palmer even describes
Medea as a demon witch who thirsts for blood and vengeance. ( Palmer para. 3).
The destruction of the relationship Jason and Medea shared is an obvious reason
for Medea s actions and is shown very early in the story, however Oedipus s outside
influences develop as the story progresses.
Oedipus is effected by outside influences as much as Medea is, however it is not as
exemplified. The outside influences slowly creep into Oedipus s mindset as the
story moves on. Despite how swayed Oedipus might have been by others, he
showcases actions influenced only by personal desires in the beginning of the
story. Oedipus is one who has a position of power, which may have shaped him to
trust his own mind and decisions over others. His mental toughness is broken
through however with characters such as Tiresias and the Herdsman. Little details
about his past break down the barrier that shields his mind from being influenced
by outside sources. As Effie Coughanowr suggests, Oedipus willingly listening to
this toxic information serves as, a single false step and tragedy becomes reality.
(Coughanowr para. 17). This process is a long one where at the end he is seen as
broken man that blames himself for the events unfolded. The manner in which he
blames himself, O Kithairon, why did you bring me in? Or once you had
Essay on Deception
Deception According to Hyman (1989) deception implies that an agent acts or
speaks so as to induce a false belief in a target or victim. Deception can occur in
everyday life. Whether it is telling someone they look nice or not telling them that
they look fat. This is an important process for forming relationships and general
social interaction. However, although this is useful for social interaction, it is a
serious problem in other areas. Deception can be a problem when people actively

Police officers). A recent study by Mann, Vrij and Bull (2004) showed that when
shown videotapes of real life lies and truths and found that the officers had an
accuracy of 65%. This was found to be better than lab studies using, normal (non
trained) participants. Additionally, accuracy was negatively correlated with popular
stereotypical cues such as gaze aversion and fidgeting. However, although this
suggests that human lie detection is fairly accurate, earlier research has found the
opposite. According to Wallace (1999), psychological research on deception shows
that most of us are poor judges of truthfulness. One may assume that this only
applies to only ordinary people and not professionals. However further research
shows that this applies to professionals such as police and custom inspectors, whose
jobs are supposed to include some expertise at lie detection (Wallace, 1999). An early
study by Kraut and Poe (1980) that custom inspectors showed accuracy scores rarely
exceed 65% where 50% is the chance level. A later study by Kohnken (1987) showed
that police officers performed no better than chance when judging the truthfulness of
witness statements (on video). Furthermore, it was found that the more confident the
officer was of their judgement, the more likely they were wrong. This

The world beer industry is still fragmented with the four major companies only
accounting for 22% of the worldwide market. Hence it was expected that there are
chances of consolidation. The aim of industry rationalisation is gathering economies
of scale in production, advertising and distribution. But the cost structure high ratio
of fixed versus variable costs and different local tastes dampened the consolidation
process in the brewery industry. Rationalisation through shifting to modern
production facilities requires high investments, often in unstable economies. That
is why capital expenditures in these markets should spread over a longer periods to
ensure profitability also in early stages. Local brands are often established for
centuries and an integral 2 The Global Branding of STELLA ARTOIS part of life.
This fact makes it often difficult to market a brand successfully. The costumers are
loyal to their well known brands. Because of the capital intensity and in order to save
costs the brewery companies started to rationalise their supply base. Interbrew for
example reduced number of its suppliers and works now more closely with them. On
the one hand it may reduces the costs but on the other hand increases the dependences
to the suppliers. Another factor, which affects the industry, is the threat of potential
substitutes. The emerging wine market in New Zealand for example led to a slump in
beer consumption. In other Mature Markets
Essay about The Last of the Mohicans
The Last of the Mohicans
James Fenimore Cooper s the Last of the Mohicans is a gripping novel that depicts
the travel of 7 people through the dangerous woods of western New York in the late
18th century. The story takes place during the French and Indian war at the height of
conflict. Major Duncan Heyward is accompanying singer David
Gamut and the two daughters of the English colonel Munro from Fort Edward to
Fort William Henry. Along the way, the four travelersdiscover that their Indian guide
Magua has purposely lead them in the wrong direction. Their only chance of making
it to Fort William Henry now rests in the hands of Hawk Eye (a man who knows the

Magua had recaptured the travelers and Hawkeye, the Mohicans, and Heyward
were on their trail. They found David in the woods who informed them that the
sisters were being held at two different posts. One, a post of the Huron s, the other
of the Delaware. Using different disguises and deception the group rescues Alice
from the Huron s. At the camp of the Delaware where Magua was holding Cora,
Magua convinced the others that Hawkeye and the Mohicans were the enemy.
Hawkeye then proves that he is a chief to the sage Tamenund. At this point they had
rescued all but Cora who Magua managed to flee with. After a chase and a fight,
Magua and his
Huron s were defeated but one Huron killed Cora. Uncas then killed that Huron
because at that point, he had fallen deeply in love with Cora. Magua then killed
Uncas by stabbing him in the back. Magua was then chased until he was forced to
jump over a cliff and died.
While James Cooper doesn t express his personal opinion on the history of our nation,
he speaks through his characters and discusses how the Europeans introduced alcohol
to the Indians. And had them drink until they thought they were enlightened and lost
their land. Throughout the story it becomes more and more apparent that Indians
were used and abused by the French and the English. The book makes me think that
our history is full of ruthless deception. From the beginning when the travelers were
first taken the wrong

  • 1. Mentorship Essay Nursing Crafting an essay on the subject of mentorship in nursing presents a unique set of challenges. Firstly, it requires a deep understanding of the intricacies of the nursing profession, including its hierarchical structure, clinical practices, and the significance of mentorship within this framework. Moreover, one must possess the ability to critically analyze the role of mentorship in nursing, considering its impact on both the mentor and the mentee, as well as its implications for patient care and professional development. Furthermore, writing such an essay demands extensive research to gather relevant data, scholarly articles, and real-world examples to support arguments effectively. It's essential to explore various models of mentorship, such as the traditional apprenticeship model versus contemporary coaching approaches, and evaluate their efficacy in different nursing contexts. Additionally, discussing the qualities of an effective mentor and the skills required to facilitate successful mentorship relationships adds another layer of complexity to the essay. Moreover, navigating ethical considerations, such as power dynamics within mentorship relationships and maintaining confidentiality, requires a nuanced approach. Balancing theoretical frameworks with practical insights from experienced nurses or mentors can enrich the essay but also requires careful integration to maintain coherence and relevance. In summary, composing an essay on mentorship in nursing demands not only a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter but also strong analytical and research skills to explore its multifaceted nature fully. It entails delving into theoretical concepts, examining practical implications, and addressing ethical concerns to present a well-rounded discussion. Overall, it's a task that necessitates diligence, critical thinking, and a deep commitment to understanding the complexities of mentorship within the nursing profession. People where breaking the rules like never before. Drinking was a tradition Americans have been doing for many generations. Putting a ban on this substance seemed to many an injustice. • 4. The Breaking Apart of South African Families South Africa has long been known for the racist policies that were implemented by the government during apartheid. In reality, many of these policies were introduced before apartheid, and thus South Africa today is affected by centuries rather than just a few decades of racism. The racial practice and policies of the nineteenth century that developed out of South Africas mineral revolution were then carried into the apartheid era, and are of particular importance for black South African families. The desires of the white population to have sufficient labour and to monitor it while reserving urban areas for whites occasioned the government to create restrictive laws starting in the late nineteenth century which were carried into apartheid. These laws and practices broke apart the South African black family and has resulted in enduring consequences for black families and South Africa. With the mineral revolution, African men began to leave their families to go and work. From the beginning of European and African interaction in South Africa, the whites have been dependent on African labour, the mineral revolution merely intensified this. It also led to an agricultural revolution in order to feed the workers. African labour was cheaper than white labour and so they were desired by employers. This demand for cheap labour led to an availability of jobs which tempted some African men to migrate to these areas of work. There was continually a shortage, however, and the government

While this is a relatively vague saying, there is one concrete definition of giftedness that is seemingly undeniable, and that is the intellectual giftedness of young children. As elucidated by the Federal Government, the term gifted and talented, when used with respect to students, children, or youth, means students, children, or youth who give evidence of high achievement capability in such areas as intellectual, creative, artistic, or leadership capacity, or in specific academic fields, and who need services or activities not ordinarily provided by the school in order to fully develop those capabilities (Title IX, Part A, Definition 22). A paper presented in 2005 at the Australian Association for Research in Education reports that ...gifted students and high achievers will experience an enhanced school self concept due to the BFLP (big fish, little pond) effect through a comparison with their average ability peers, their school self concept will be lowered due to an assimilation effect when they affiliate themselves with their less able peers (Yeung 4). This finding is particularly interesting because it calls the efficacy of pulling gifted children out of regular classes and grouping them together. In regular classes, the gifted student has an inflated sense of self worth, and yet as soon as he is put into a room with like minded people, he begins to feel less adequate and may fall back to an ordinary learning ability. This then results in the student s frustration with his inability to grasp new material, and with the routine, repetitive nature of daily life (Farmer). These feelings can persist throughout a lifetime, even as gifted ability fades, resulting in feelings of depression, displacement, and the dreaded phenomenon of burnout (Kesner

  • 7. The United States And China Like Athens and Sparta, were the United States and China drawn into a war neither power wanted because of their alliances? Introduction The United States and China were eagerly ready to be drawn into the Korean War. Why wouldn t they be? After WWII, Japan was forced to relinquish Korea, among other territories that it claimed , and Korea was left to fend for herself. Korea was managing but the country could not come to an agreement on a major topic: The type of government the country should fall under as a unified nation. The northern half, lead by Kim II Sung, wanted to operate under the communist rule; but the southern half, lead by Syngman Rhee, wanted to operate under a democracy (non communist and independent ruling). This was like a set of twin siblings arguing and fighting over which of the two of them should carry the basketball as they walk down the street to the basketball court. They are that they both want to play basketball together but they can t agree on who should be in charge and carry the ball. Well, the older and more experienced neighbors, The United Statesand China, wanted to play too but since it was Korea s court, they decided to just sit back and await a decision but could only bear to watch the argument and fight for so long. They too had an opinion about who should carry the ball or should I say which governmental theory to abide; therefore, they wanted to intervene. Supporting Evidence The United States was not only a well known

People who believed in Galen s theories tried to explain how the pulmonary vein would have air go down into the heart and also have a by product called sooty vapours brought up into the lungs. Though there was a massive lack of evidence, the Galen theory still stood as the correct theory ( About William Harvery ). Galen s model was proven wrong by Renaissance anatomists. Despite Galen s model being used for so many years, Vesalius proved the vena cava could not have come from the liver. Realdo Columbo s experimentation also gathered information about the heart. It was revealed that the systole phase of the heart is active as it constricts and pumped blood into the arteries while the dystole phase is the inactive phase of the heart ( About William Harvery ). Harvey, inspired by Vesalius s discoveries, later discovered the process of blood circulation in 1628 ( Renaissance medicine ). Galen s theories were challenged by William Harvey s (About Williams Harvey). Harvey observed sheep veins and arteries and even his own veins to discover blood circulation. Harvey concluded that the veins in our bodies allowed the blood to circulate( Medicine ). Harvey was able to prove Columbo s theory and discovered that the heart worked as a muscle. The representative talked about how VIVUS defines the disease, suggesting that the disease is to be defined and interpreted by pharmaceutical companies rather than by unbiased medical professionals. I think it is important to look at depression as something that isn t cured; rather it s something that is managed. There are many ways that therapists choose to treat depression. After doing research about the various types, it seems that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, CBT, is the most effective at managing depression (Klosko, Sanderson, 2000). CBT is used as a tool; it focuses in on finding cognitive reasons for negative feelings and actions, and then attempts to train the brain to work around these cognitive obstacles on the road to actualization. In other words CBT modifies the negative thoughts that lead to negative behavior; by preventing the negative thoughts you are also preventing the negative behavior associated with depression. Living Beneath The Mask Of Toughness Essay Jocelyn Vargas Professor Pierstorff English 101, TTH 1 December 2016 Living Underneath The Mask of Toughness When I was younger, I would visit my cousins and aunt every single day. My aunt lived in an apartment and even though it was small, all of my cousins and I would always be together playing. While my cousin and I were playing with Polly Pockets and doll houses as girls are expected to, I remember my boy cousin wanting to play with us. He would always love playing with toys and it didn t matter to him if it was labeled as for a boy or for a girl. As long as he was having fun, he didn t care what he played with or what color it was. Looking back now, I remember that the minute his step dad saw him playing with a pink toy or a doll, he would instantly freak out. He would say something like, Hey that s for girls! or Why are you playing with a girl toy, you faggot! I didn t understand why he was so against my cousin playing with a toy that wasn t boy ish. It became clear to me that since early childhood, boys are forced to act more masculine and hide underneath a mask of toughness. HUSKY resulted in Allied Forces securing the island, despite leadership failures and the ineffective coordination of joint functions at the operational level. A two part analysis of the Allied Force operational level joint functions during Operation HUSKY follows. The first will evaluate the joint function of command and control using the three attributes of mission command from joint doctrine: commander s intent, mutual trust, and understanding. The second will evaluate the integration of two of the remaining joint functions using the definition of integration from joint doctrine. The Joint Force Commander (JFC) utilizes command and control to exercise authority over assigned and attached forces within his or her command. Command provides direction and motivation to individuals and units, whereas control is the task of managing forces and the associated tasks required to accomplish the mission. Effective command and control successfully balances the art of command with the science of control and strengthens the commander s ability to make and execute decisions. Mission command advances command and control
  • 30. Intrinsic And Extrinsic Motivations 4.What motivates you extrinsically? What are your intrinsic motivations? How do you balance extrinsic and intrinsic motivation in your life? In terms of extrinsic motivations, I think that I am motivated by praise, reputation, and financial gain. While money is not the most important aspect of a career, I would like to earn a salary that helps me maintain a modest living. Being self aware, I realize that I want a career where I can help others, which is an intrinsic motivation. This is another reason why I was unhappy in my accounting co op position, because it was very difficult for me to accomplish tasks that didn t help others. As a result, I wouldn t take a lucrative job offer if it didn t provide me with benevolent job responsibilities. In order to balance my intrinsic and extrinsic motivations, I think that compromise is key. Since life s challenges can interfere with one s morals, I realize that it may be difficult to compromise in certain situations. However, I think that success in the business world ultimately stems from ethical actions, because it will cultivate trust within your customers. As a result, my goal is to work for companies who care about their stakeholders, because the results will pay off in the long run. Not to sound like a millennial clichГ©, but I want my work to be meaningful for others and myself. This objective stems from my intrinsic motivations, but praise from colleagues, superiors, and customers will ensure that my work is meaningful.

Coastlines are not found in nature; they are products of human initiative... (Gillis 99). This quote said by John R. Gillis brings up a very important discussion. Are coastlines found in nature or have they been built into something we as humans wanted them to be? When the quote is first read, it may be easy to say of course coastlines exist in nature because they are nature. Although, when looking at it deeper one must ask what is the definition of nature. Without those piles and bulkheads those houses would not be able to be there. Which is an example of changing nature to support the want we have to live on the coast. This was seen also in San Francisco in the mid 1800 s. The gold rush hit San Francisco in 1849 and in two years the town of 1,000 people turned into a large coastal city of 25,000 people. The land behind the bay was mountains and was not a good fit for expanding the city so they built near the shore. As the city grew throughout the years a need for more land increased. They began to build into the bay and actual changed the outline of the coast entirely. They used the steam paddy to fill in large areas of the San Francisco s coast. As they began to make land and build on it numerous problems began to be discovered. Besides physically changing the entire shoreline of San Francisco, it created man traps that were uneven fillings of land that would sink when people stepped on them, it also created seismic hazards, which was seen by the 1906 Earthquake, and fire hazards, which was also seen by the Great Fire of 1851 (Dyl Lecture). RenГ© Descartes, a French Philosopher, first introduced The Conceivability Argument for dualism in his Sixth Meditation hundreds of years ago and it has been criticized ever since. In this argument he proposes that the mind and the body are separate substances with independent existence because he can conceive of his mind existing in a universe that consists of no material things. Food borne illness refers to any illness caused by ingesting food or drink contaminated by microbes or toxic substances (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2017). Moreover, the foodmarket offers a variety of products to meet customers expectations and this market must to ensure the food quality, especially when it is related to food safety. For years, dairy products, processed food and vegetables have been associated with recalls. In addition, the aliments should be free from pathogens because they may cause diseases, and some can lead to death. Bacteria such as E. coli, Listeria, Norovirus, Salmonella, Staphylococcus and Clostridium are cited as the most dangerous food pathogens able to cause significant harm to human health or even hospitalization (Thomas et al., 2015; Wang Salazar, 2016; Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2017). For example, E.coli can contaminate multiple categories of food including dairy, meats, vegetables and processed food and cause significant health issues (Zwietering et al., 2016). Listeria is another pathogen that frequently appears in food poisoning outbreaks. Food contamination may occur at any stage of the food chain (harvesting, production, farming, storing) or even in people s homes. (Mani et al., 2017). With the advent of technology and the improvement of Microbiologytechniques, the detection of pathogens has been improving and ensuring new guidelines regarding hygiene, food conservation, and manufacturing process (Arpaia, 2017). By this, it has been vital to developing accurate and efficient methods to detect pathogens, supervise, and track the food processing chain. Due to the possibility the food contamination from the farm (harvesting or abattoir) to people s consumption (finished product and storage), the food production must be regulated to guarantee the quality of the nutrition (Arpaia, 2017). Therefore, the food producers and the distributors need to follow some rules to prevent food poisoning because this is an important threat to human health (Mani et al., 2017). For instance, in

Oedipus is effected by outside influences as much as Medea is, however it is not as exemplified. The outside influences slowly creep into Oedipus s mindset as the story moves on. Despite how swayed Oedipus might have been by others, he showcases actions influenced only by personal desires in the beginning of the story. This is an important process for forming relationships and general social interaction. However, although this is useful for social interaction, it is a serious problem in other areas. Deception can be a problem when people actively deceive in job applications, giving evidence and in court. Being able to detect whether a person is lying or... A recent study by Mann, Vrij and Bull (2004) showed that when shown videotapes of real life lies and truths and found that the officers had an accuracy of 65%. This was found to be better than lab studies using, normal (non trained) participants. Additionally, accuracy was negatively correlated with popular stereotypical cues such as gaze aversion and fidgeting. However, although this suggests that human lie detection is fairly accurate, earlier research has found the opposite. According to Wallace (1999), psychological research on deception shows that most of us are poor judges of truthfulness. One may assume that this only applies to only ordinary people and not professionals. However further research shows that this applies to professionals such as police and custom inspectors, whose jobs are supposed to include some expertise at lie detection (Wallace, 1999). An early study by Kraut and Poe (1980) that custom inspectors showed accuracy scores rarely exceed 65% where 50% is the chance level. A later study by Kohnken (1987) showed that police officers performed no better than chance when judging the truthfulness of witness statements (on video). Furthermore, it was found that the more confident the officer was of their judgement, the more likely they were wrong. This

Hence it was expected that there are chances of consolidation. The aim of industry rationalisation is gathering economies of scale in production, advertising and distribution. But the cost structure high ratio of fixed versus variable costs and different local tastes dampened the consolidation process in the brewery industry. Rationalisation through shifting to modern production facilities requires high investments, often in unstable economies. That is why capital expenditures in these markets should spread over a longer periods to ensure profitability also in early stages. Local brands are often established for centuries and an integral 2 The Global Branding of STELLA ARTOIS part of life. This fact makes it often difficult to market a brand successfully. The costumers are loyal to their well known brands. Because of the capital intensity and in order to save costs the brewery companies started to rationalise their supply base. Interbrew for example reduced number of its suppliers and works now more closely with them. On the one hand it may reduces the costs but on the other hand increases the dependences to the suppliers. Another factor, which affects the industry, is the threat of potential substitutes. The emerging wine market in New Zealand for example led to a slump in beer consumption. In other Mature Markets

They found David in the woods who informed them that the sisters were being held at two different posts. One, a post of the Huron s, the other of the Delaware. At the camp of the Delaware where Magua was holding Cora, Magua convinced the others that Hawkeye and the Mohicans were the enemy. Hawkeye then proves that he is a chief to the sage Tamenund. At this point they had rescued all but Cora who Magua managed to flee with. After a chase and a fight, Magua and his Huron s were defeated but one Huron killed Cora. Uncas then killed that Huron because at that point, he had fallen deeply in love with Cora. Magua then killed Uncas by stabbing him in the back. Magua was then chased until he was forced to jump over a cliff and died. While James Cooper doesn t express his personal opinion on the history of our nation, he speaks through his characters and discusses how the Europeans introduced alcohol to the Indians. And had them drink until they thought they were enlightened and lost their land. Throughout the story it becomes more and more apparent that Indians were used and abused by the French and the English. The book makes me think that our history is full of ruthless deception. From the beginning when the travelers were first taken the wrong
