Secondary Research Methods Paper
This research will be conducted using secondary research methods. The secondary sources will draw
on qualitative research such as, participant observation, interviews, and ethnographic accounts to
analyze the topic. The process of this research project will use a deductive approach. A deductive
approach is researching from a broad topic and narrowing it down to a more specific topic. This is
ideal for this project because there is an immense amount of research done on the development of
children and parenting, so therefore this project will narrow down to a specific aspect of these two
topics and create new information.
Secondary research methods include analyzing and gathering existing literature on the researchers
topic. Secondary research methods can be challenging because the existing literature might not
address the researchers questions directly and it might not be current or valid. An advantage to
secondary research methods is that it is quick and low cost. The data needed to analyze has already
been collected and ready to use. Secondary research methods also might only work for specific topics
where the data is cannot be collected ie. Government data. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

These methods involve the research to collect their own data. Data collection can be a timely process
and requires willing participants. The research has to go through the ethics board to be granted
approval to conduct their study. Some primary data collection methods can be low cost and can be
completed with a time limit, while others require a high budget and no time limit. Primary data
collection is not practical for all research projects. An advantage of primary data collection is that the
researcher is collecting their own data personally and that they can control where their data is coming
form. They can change the size of the study and modify the data collection to fit their

Ghost Military Mission Command
Part Three
Mission command is the exercise of authority and direction by the commander using mission orders to
enable disciplined initiative within the commander s intent to empower agile and adaptive leaders in
the conduct of unified land operations (ADRP 6 0) What does a commander do when all
communications with higher command is severed? Combatant commanders cannot cease to operate
simply because communications are interrupted. In Ghost Fleet, the Chinese completely disrupt all
communications for the American fleet. In beginning of the novel, this cripples the fleet. Lack of
orders paralyzes the much needed response to the invasion and attacks. The breakdown of
communications cannot stop the fight. Mission command outlines how mission orders set the
battlefield for success. Disciplined initiative to continue the mission based on a clear understanding of
the commander s intent. In the situation presented in the novel, we are given two examples of this.
When the attack at Pearl Harbor begins, most commanders of the fleet freeze with indecision when
communications cease. This indecision cost countless lives as the torpedoes strike the unmoving ships.
In dichotomy, the USS Coronado sees the attack and acts immediately. They are the only ... Show

In the future, technology and digital systems will continue to play an important role in how the United
States Army fights and wins our nation s wars. As technology improves and becomes an increasingly
integral part of every Army system, it is important that leaders maintain the ability to fight and win
without these benefits. Over reliance on digital systems and unfettered information is a weakness that
our enemies will exploit on future battlefields. Ukraine learned this lesson very devastatingly in the
recent annexation of Crimea. In order to safeguard the trust emplaced on leaders by the American
people, it is a lesson not repeated by the US

Santander Consumer Finance Essay
Section A. Introduction and Overview of the Situation
The Santander Consumer Finance organization needs to choose on the off chance that they ought to

procedure choices amidst the world monetary downturn that took after the 2007 U.S. credit crunch.
Since 2002, the consumer finance branch of the Spanish banking Group Santander, Santander

organizations catching the late development in Europe of the consumer finance market. Against a

Hand Influence On Mental Rotation
Introduction The purpose of this experiments was to study the effects of hand preference on mental
rotation. We did so by conducting an experiment where half of the participants were asked to use their
dominant hand to respond to images rotating at one of four degrees or to use their non dominant hand.
I hypothesize a main effect for angle and hand dominance as well as interaction between the two
variables in effecting the response time as well as the accuracy rate. In an experiment on the mental
rotation of three dimensional objects conducted by Shepard and Metzler(1971), the researchers were
looking more in depth of the rotation of these objects. They were either rotations of each object or
completely different depictions. The independent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mixed hand users had significantly greater result than the left hand users meaning that one s ability to
perform well may be dependent on their normal motor habits. Another experiment which focused on
the mental rotation of both two dimensional and three dimensional object was conducted by Sonya
Regehr, Lyndon B.J.P. Smith, and Garth N. Smith (1985). They hypothesized that three dimensional
objects would be harder to mentally rotate than two dimensional objects. They found that response
time to mirrored objects were significantly less in the two dimensional objects than the three
dimensional objects. They were able to conclude that for larger degrees of rotation, the rate of mental
rotation for two dimensional objects is greater than those for three dimensional objects. In an
experiment comparing the differences in gender on mental rotation of three dimensional objects, S.
Marion Tapley and M.P. Bryden (1977) found that men had higher accuracy rates than women and that
the slope of function relating to the response time to degree of rotation was steeper in women. This
study suggests that frequent use of visual imagery was related to mental rotation rated in men and not

We Grow Accustomed to the Dark...
We grow accustomed to the dark... Darkness is a recurring image in literature that evokes a universal
unknown, yet is often entrenched in many meanings. A master poet, Emily Dickinson employs
darkness as a metaphor many times throughout her poetry. In We grow accustomed to the dark (#428)
she talks of the newness that awaits when we fit our Vision to the Dark. As enigmatic and shrouded in
mystery as the dark she explores, Dickinson s poetry seems our only door to understanding the
recluse. As she wrote to her friend T.W. Higginson on April 15, 1862, the Mind is so near itself it
cannot see, distinctly (Letters 253). In this musing, she acquiesces to a notion that man remains locked
in an internal struggle with himself. This inner ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the poem has fluidity despite its apparent scarcity of rhyme. After examining the alteration
of syllables in each line, a pattern is revealed in this poem concerning darkness. The first nine lines
alternate between 8 and 6 syllables. These lines are concerned, as any narrative is, with exposition.
These lines set up darkness as an internal conflict to come. The conflict intensifies in lines 10 and 11
as we are bombarded by an explosion of 8 syllables in each line. These lines present the conflict
within one s own mind at its most desperate. After this climax, the syllables in the last nine lines
resolve the conflict presented. In these lines, Dickinson presents us with an archetypal figure that is
faced with a conflict: the bravest hero. These lines present the resolution in lines that alternate
between 6 and 7 syllables. Just as the syllables decrease, the falling action presents us with a final
insight. This insight discusses how darkness is an insurmountable entity that, like the hero, we must
face to continue straight through Life (line 20). The next seemingly arbitrary decision is Dickinson s
capitalization. The capitalization at the beginning of the sentence must be capitalized; therefore, we ll
focus on the capitalizations that lie within each sentence. In this poem, each of these words is a noun.
Past this simple reading, what may we deduce from these capitalizations? Each stanza presents a
different set of capitalized objects

Biology Of The Cannabis Genomic Research Initiative
Learning information has engaged and interested me throughout the courses I have taken; however,
the opportunity to discover new information through research is one of my most intellectually
stimulating experiences. With my goal to learn as much as possible under Dr. Nolan Kane, the
Professional Investigator of the Cannabis Genomic Research Initiative (CGRI), I have expanded my
traditional bench lab experience to bioinformatics, hemp breeding, and leading designing and
performing my own project examining differential protein expression in Cannabis. Although I am
deeply fascinated by a four letter code that encodes the human body, I am also providing myself the
freedom within my research to learn about other organisms and genetic diseases that I hope to treat
within my career.
My longest ongoing project began in October 2014 under the guidance of Dr. Daniela Vergara, a post
doctoral researcher of the CGRI, who helped another undergraduate student and I begin to
troubleshoot a protocol for a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). The goal of this experiment was to
analyze variation between strains of Cannabis in a region of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) Synthase
Gene that was amplified by another research team s primer set. The published protocol was originally
unsuccessful when attempting to be reproduced. My colleague and I had applied for the
Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program Grant, which funded our research to determine a
successful protocol for this PCR. However, near

SIBLINGS RELATIONSHIP
Overture to sibling s kinship
The relationship between siblings is a critical relationship. The sibling relationship is one of the
longest lasting relationships in most people s lives and one of the most prevalent (Avidan, p21). The
sibling relationship has many delicate and intricate issues like conflicts, rivalry, despite these negative
impacts this relationship is one of the closest relationships. The siblings help one another and give
emotional support when it is needed. The quality of sibling kinship is closely associated with social
development and the psychological characteristics of the children. Also, in this aspect it does not

Specifically, Tan uses sisterhood as a structure for the representation and regulation of cultural
differences among women. The Hundred Secret Senses does not offer an admired development of
sisterhood but rather gives a refined investigation of the philosophy of sisterhood and stresses the
impact of the sister relationship in creating ethnic consciousness and identity. For Tan, sisterhood
envelops biological bonding as well as poignant cultural heritage. The bond between the two half
sisters in The Hundred Secret Senses is loaded with equivocalness created by synchronous sentiments
of equality and difference. Psychologically, Olivia, the sister who typifies the ethnic other, has been
perceived as a fundamental piece of the American self. The key occasions in her psychological
development her isolation from Simon, her refusal of her heritage and rejection of her sister, her
guiltiness, her developing valuation for Chinese culture, and her longings towards meaningful
kinships are all associated with her sister Kwan and their advancing relationship. Kwan turns out to
be, in the expressions of Downing, an oblivious manual for Olivia s trip toward self and psyche, that
is, toward an expanded consciousness of her roots and ethnic

The Education Framework Of Nigeria
Presentation
Education is said to be act or procedure of bestowing or securing general learning, building up the
forces of thinking and judgment, and by and large of setting oneself up or others mentally for
experienced life. The Ministry of Education is responsible for education in Nigeria. The education
framework in Nigeria is separated into Kindergarten, essential training, auxiliary training and tertiary
training.
Foundation Problem
The present example of Nigeria Education framework, especially the Tertiary Institutions has been an
issue of sensitivity toward the administration, accomplices, educationists, managers (home and
abroad), graduates and diverse establishments. This paper took a gander at the present pattern of
tertiary education as far as educational modules, instructors, students, funding, facilities, industrial
collaborations and additionally showing techniques with the point of view of proposing the way
ahead.

Starting 2015, Nigeria was named the world s twentieth greatest economy, worth more than $500
billion and $1 trillion to the extent apparent GDP and purchasing power balance exclusively. It

How Would Utopus Create A Dystopian Society
Utopia is a previously inhabited piece of land conquered by King Utopus. Before Utopus seized the
land of Utopia, it was not an island. Utopia was connected to the rest of the continent. However,
Utopus arranged for his soldiers and the native settlers of the land to excavate a fifteen mile ditch. The
water surrounding the island aids the separation between Utopia and its neighbors. One side of the
water is very shallow, and on the other side, sharp rocks prevent boats from entering. So, ships from
the rest of the continent cannot navigate these waters without help from experienced Utopians. Shaped
like a crescent, the island stretches 200 feet wide to 500 feet tall. Once the fifteen mile ditch was dug,
Utopians founded fifty four cities, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, Utopians do not engage in alliances or treaties, so the water serves as a physical separation
between Utopia and its neighbors so they do not feel pressured to engage in treaties or alliances. If
Utopia does not have a physical separation, they may feel influenced by their neighbors behavior and
engage in treaties and alliances. Second, since the water separates Utopia from the rest of the
continent, Utopians chances of war decrease no one surrounds them. Because the chances of war
decrease, Utopians do not necessarily need allies to defend them. More describes the Utopian belief
saying, For to what purpose serve leagues, say they, as though nature had not set sufficient love
between man and man? (114). They believe that if their common humanity won t unite together, then
promises won t be fulfilled. Also, Utopians do not approve of war. Therefore, the jagged rocks and
shallow water surrounding the island prevent enemies from coming onto their territory, reducing the
chances that Utopia will be attacked. Next, cities in Utopia measure equally, and a common Utopian
belief includes the concept that every citizen is equal. Because the layout of the city is symmetrical,
the layout of Utopia symbolizes the layout of how society works. Everyone is equal and receives equal
shares. Last,

Essay on Death with Dignity
Autonomy is a fundamental right. Liberty interests of patients while coping with terminal illness,
however, unlike autonomy, are protected under the Constitution as fundamental rights. Advancements
in medicine are extending the average life expectancy for adults. The aging of the baby boomer
generation is also contributing to the increase in the growing number of the elder population. As
society ages, not only do individuals battle terminal illness, but they combat the unanticipated
demands on their right to die with dignity. The ability to choose the timing of one s death is limited to
a few states in America. Additionally, there are a few countries now allowing physician assisted
suicide. Even with this option, a patient must ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although there is a distinction between euthanasia and death with dignity, the purpose of both is to
end one s unbearable pain and suffering.
The act of euthanasia has negative connotations that stem from a history of genocide. Nazi Germany is
an illustrious example of this deed. Using cyanide gas, the Germans exterminated a large portion of
the Jewish population. Contrary to popular opinion, genocide is not limited to the past. The atrocities
of this practice resurfaced a multitude of times, such as in the civil war, in Rwanda, as well as the
conflict in Darfur. Social conditions in all of these countries contributed towards conflict and crisis
situations resulting in the onset of social control. Genocide, often viewed as a deviant action, is also a
type of social control. The casualties of these wars were not permitted to die with their dignity. Their
deaths, indeed, did engender suffering. In these cases, the affected individuals experienced both active
and non voluntary euthanasia.
History provides valuable lessons. Learning about the suffering of others affords us the opportunity to
take action to prevent the possibility of reoccurrence. Karen Quinlan is an infamous case from the
1970 s. This woman was in a persistent vegetative state sustained by life support. Her family
petitioned the court to withdraw the ventilator machine, allowing her the right to die with dignity. The
judge granted the family s request

Bilingual Education Report
As a middle school ESL teacher in one of the states which has legally mandated the pedagogically
questionable supported English immersion (SEI) as the preferred manner of instruction for English
language learners, I have not yet been persuaded by those who insist that the elimination of bilingual
education has been a disaster. I concede that my perspective is impacted by having seen the results of
perhaps an uncommonly low quality bilingual program in my own district. When I first started
teaching in Fitchburg, Massachusetts in 2006, the middle school students who had been in a district
dual language program were shockingly lower in their English proficiency than the students who had
attended elementary schools with predominately English ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The 1980s also saw the rise of a number of organizations which promoted the exclusive use of English
in American public life and schools. The research support for this backlash seems to have rested
primarily on reviews of previous program evaluations conducted by Baker and de Kanter (1981,
1983), with more than 90% of the previous studies being excluded because Baker and de Kanter
deemed them methodologically unsound. However, their analysis was rapidly contested by critics who
felt that had these researchers properly accounted for variables across the studies, the results from the
meta analysis would instead have demonstrated small to moderate differences supporting bilingual
education (Nieto, 2009).
The tide turned again with the 1994 Clinton Administration reauthorization of the Bilingual Education
act, also known as the Improving America s Schools Act, which promoted bilingual education for the
first time not just to help immigrants learn English, but also as way to develop the human capital of
the nation and promote American competitiveness in the global economy. The result of this extension
was the expansion of developmental bilingual education, which included two way bilingual programs
serving both mainstream and language minority students (Nieto,

The Unnecessary Destruction of Hiroshima
On August 6th, 1945, at 8:15 Japan time, the United States dropped an atomic bomb named Little Boy
on Hiroshima, Japan. Little Boy was dropped from the Enola Gay, from 31,000ft and detonated at
1,900ft above Hiroshima. Dropping the atomic bomb destroyed the city, ruined and negatively
changed people s lives, and killed thousands of people. Some say it was necessary to drop it because
of the lives it saved. It didn t save lives. It was unnecessary to drop the atomic bomb because of the
amount of destruction and lives it ruined.
The atomic bomb caused a lot of unnecessary destruction when it was dropped on Hiroshima. It had
destroyed houses and work buildings in Hiroshima, such as the hospital in which Dr. Fujii lived and
worked. Dr. Fujii s hospital was smashed all around him in a mad assortment of splintered lumber and
materials for the relief of pain (John Hersey, 11). Buildings were blown apart, caught fire, and
completely obliterated. Two thirds of Hiroshima were demolished. Out of the 90,000 buildings in
Hiroshima, 60,000 buildings were destroyed within a three mile radius of the epicenter. The havoc
could have been avoided by not dropping the atomic bomb.
Many people had their lives unfairly changed and even ruined from the atomic bomb. The victims of
radiation poisoning and burns had to deal with disfiguring ailments. They had dark burns across their
bodies. Their hair burned off. Skin drooped from the radiation and blast. The bomb also irradiated the
people nearby

Volkswagen Ad Comparison
1) The print advertisement I choose for this assignment was the 1960 Volkswagen ad Lemon by DDB.
This advertisement used by Volkswagen was predominantly a reminding advertisement to show the
public that there s more to Hitler s favorite car. This ad reminded people not only of the Beetle, but all
VW s are in fact held to superior forms of quality, and craftsmanship. The ad itself right away draws
your attention, you see a black and white beetle over the words, lemon. At the moment you think is
this a comparative ad from one of Volkswagen competitors, but it s not. Deeper into the ad you see
why they call it a lemon; the car may look perfect to the naked, but to VW s standards it s not. This ad
draws your attention in, and it engages you to think just, why is VW calling one of their cars a lemon?
It communicates to you that not only VW, but in the grand scheme of things German engineering or
craftsmanship, is held above all else.

I choose this ad unparticular because its new, and in a short video says a lot about Volkswagen. One
thing VW does is that their commercial is always weird, and unconventional, but they work, because

most of it. In the commercial it states and shows how well equipped the Passat is in standard
equipment compared to other vehicles in its class. The ads are bright, colorful, and informative about
the car, making sound like it s a great deal, but it also brings up memories. In the ad the song On The
Road Again by Willie Nelson is playing, and he also makes a cameo driving an old VW thing. The
song and cameo sparks a nostalgic feel within the commercial to the people who experienced the 60 s.
I think this ad is a good one it information the public on how well equipped the car is by engaging the

Throughout the fast paced lives of people, they are constantly making choices that shape who they are,

Women s Roles Of Women In Duel In The Sun
Straying away from the stereotypical timid housewife, women in the West were given room to create
new identities. In the movie Duel in the Sun (1946), Pearl engages in a shootout in the desert with a
man. While in the movie The Outlaw (1943), Rio McDonald ambushes gunfighters in order to avenge
her brother s death. Although women often stood in the shadows of their more rugged male
counterparts, these movies and characters proved that women were just as rugged as men, shocking
the world with their ruthless behavior and unladylike behavior.
These Wild West women were pioneers in their own way because they challenged the traditional roles
of females, similar to how the present day feminist movement aims for gender equality within a
patriarchal society. Present day feminism champions for equal pay in the workplace since according to
the National Organization for Women women are paid on average only 77 percent of what men are
paid. While in the West women were seeking greater job opportunities, women now are arguing for
equal pay to reduce the discrepancies between the genders. Additionally, women are fighting to heal
the wounds of rape, acceptance of street harassment, and the generally undermining of female
intelligence, ability and strength. Similar to how women in the Wild West were breaking stereotypes

Governmental Involvement In The War On Drugs
As a person uses drugs, the brain adjusts to excesses of dopamine, subsequently reducing the amounts,
in turn lowering the ability of cells in the reward circuits in response. Consequently this reduces the
high quality in comparison to the initial usage. The effect, known as tolerance, causes users to increase
their dosage to achieve a similar high leading to addiction. Long term use causes a change in chemical
systems, and massive health issues such as birth defects, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis and other infectious
diseases, cardiovascular effects, respiratory effects, gastrointestinal effects, musculoskeletal effects,
other organ damage, neurological effects, mental health effects, possible amputations due to infected
cites, and death (WebMD). So why would anyone do drugs? Other than coping mechanisms, curiosity,
and peer pressure, governmental involvement may indirectly help stabilize drug trade, leading to more
drug popularity. While genetic and environmental factors such as economic status, etc., interact with
critical development stages concerning addiction, the factors above are a general overview found in
textbook. More concerning however, is governmental involvement. As their presence contributes
largely to addiction, such as the legalization of alchol, nicotine, and prescription drugs, the media,
glorifying usage, and their strategies in the War on Drugs. Legal intoxication are a huge problem as
the drugs are either completely legal or not commonly prohibited, which can

Essay about Economy of Japan after tsunami
When an earthquake followed by a tsunami hit Japan, the people were devastated and everyone was
scrambling for their safety. The earthquake was one of the strongest on record and this caused an
overwhelming tsunami that destroyed most of the nation. These events not only tore down Japan, but
this natural disaster is going to greatly affect the rest of the world and the global economy. Before
these events, the global economy was stable and now after these events the global economy is going to
see a change for the worse. Some nations feel that they can self produce and are not going to be
affected, but there are some nations that are dependent on the production of some products from other
nations. Japan is a highly civilized country; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the same time, some analysts expect global car production to fall by nearly one third as a result of
shortages of Japanese automotive parts (EIU).
Many companies can get products at a cheaper price by importing goods from Japan. Now companies
have to worry about power sources and some things out of their control before they can start
production again. The projected time for companies getting back on track again is having everything
going perfectly with no other distractions or setbacks due to failure in a system. Japan as a nation is
not only worrying about picking up the pieces from the disaster, but also worrying about a nuclear
meltdown at a major power plant,
Japan is struggling to cope not only with the effects of the earthquake and tsunami, but also with the
continuing threat of a nuclear meltdown at Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant. For the past several days,
tens of millions of people have been living with the fear of major radiation leaks from the crippled
plant (EIU).
Japan is desperate need of help and is living life worrying about everything on a day to day basis
without being able to completely control things. People are suffering from these affects because there
is no power to be used around the nation leaving people struggling to make it through day. Japan s
economy as whole can explain how the whole global economy is going to start failing because of a

Why did the governments of the interregnum fail to find an...
The governments of the interregnum failed to find an acceptable settlement predominantly due the
power vacuum which was left by the King when he was executed. This wasn t helped by the lack of
legitimacy of the regicide where only 59 MP s signed Charles death warrant. However one could
argue that Oliver Cromwell, Parliament and The New Model Army s want and desire for more power
also led to the failure to find an acceptable settlement.
After Charles was executed several political problems arose because there was no direction of
settlement due to the degree and nature of the reform. As a result of this, two sides formed, the army
who were religious radicals and parliament, who were after a conservative settlement. The result of

For example, the military wanted a radical religious reform, led by John Lambert, whereas the
civilians (or parliament) wanted a more moderate, parliament endorsed regime, led by figures such as
Lord Broghill. Therefore, Cromwell was a major source of division and was said to be an ideological
schizophrenic (Worden). Furthermore division was made worse by Oliver Cromwell (Worden) which
is seen with the fluctuation of Cromwell s views between 1649 58, beginning with the dissolution of
the Rump Parliament, because he favoured the Nominated Assembly, devised by fifth monarchist
Thomas Harrison, however the Assembly was named the Barebones Parliament. Despite Cromwell
initially siding with a Godly rule (Smith), he reverted back to the regime to protect tradition, helped by
Lambert who ended the Barebones Parliament due to the fear of the increasing power of religious
radicals. Therefore, it was the indecisive nature of Oliver Cromwell that led to the failure in
attempting to create an acceptable settlement in politics and religion.
Religious radicalism was fundamentally linked politics. Following Civil War in 1642, religious
radicalism evolved due to the collapse of censorship and the Church of England which brought social
upheaval across England, making it increasingly difficult for Cromwell to achieve an acceptable
settlement. The less influential groups amongst society were the Diggers and Fifth Monarchists who

Reaganomics and Its Effect on Minority Groups
The most noteworthy component of Ronald Reagan s two terms as leader of the free world are the
laws, regulations, and policies passed under his two terms as President of the United States. These
regulations soon became known as Reaganomics , a term that is still used today to describe these
policies. Hidden underneath the manufactured depiction of Reaganomics policies by mass media lies a
controversial observation: these policies may have created a permanent shift in American society
which, as a result, disenfranchised minorities since they went into effect over thirty years ago. This

media outlets but by subsequent pro Reaganomics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

income wage gap between races (primarily white and black) and the wage gap between social classes
(middle class and wealthy) as the number of Americans below the poverty line increased by more than
2 million. Despite its successes on the American economical structure and more significantly, its
benefits for the rich, Reaganomics jeopardized the welfare of Americans of the lower class as Reagan
s administration cut 60% of funding towards social programs that primarily assisted mothers, children,
and minorities like Social Security, Medicaid, Food Stamps, and federal education programs. The
administration also proved to be detrimental to the citizens in the urban area with budget cuts to
federal legal services for the poor as well as decreased funding for public transportation and the
eliminated anti poverty programs such as the Community Development Block program. When Reagan
first came into office, city budgets used over 20 percent of federal funding but towards 1988, it

public libraries, hospital/clinics, police and fire departments were forced to close down indefinitely.
With thirty percent of African Americans below the poverty line, these spending cuts sparked the onset
of several implications for African American family life, such as the halving of the housing and

What Is CAPM Is An Asset Pricing Theory
In theory, CAPM is an asset pricing model which states that assets are priced commensurate with a
trade off between undiversifiable risk and expectations of return (Dempsey, 2013). It is based on
certain assumptions like Modern Portfolio Theory, Arbitrage Pricing Theory (APT) and Efficient
Market Hypothesis (EMH) where investors are assumed rational under the Market Rationality.
Efficient Market Hypothesis: Although all information may be reflected in the price of stock following
the EMH, the application of CAPM amounts to selecting only relevant data from the markets to be
imputed into the model, thus subjecting CAPM to predictions based only on the information selected

Bach And Harnish Essay
Bach and Harnish (1979: 3) do not adopt Searle s criteria of the direction of fit. Instead they employ
an approach which is known as intention and inference. According to this approach there is more than
just transmitting signals in linguistic communication, the hearer s inference is equally required. In
other words, when a person say something, he has a certain intention, and the act of communicating
act is considered successful only if the hearer recognizes this intention. This concept was stated earlier
by Strawson (1964: 459), who states this concept earlier, according to him, the effectiveness of the
speaker s intention needs to that this intention be recognized by the hearer. In Strawson s words: the

Introduction:
The C S H gel is the most abundant reaction product in cement, occupying about half of the paste
volume, it is also responsible for most of the properties of cement paste. This is just not because it is a
strong or stable phase but because it forms a continuous layer that binds the cement particles together.
All the other hydration products of cement form discrete crystals that are naturally strong but do not
have good connections to the solid phases they are in contact with hence cannot contribute much to
the overall strength of the cement paste. C S H gel gets the ability of the to act as a binding phase from
its nanometer level structure.
As C S H gel grows outward from the cement particles, it does not form a single large block or
monolithic solid phase but instead develops a complex internal system of tiny pores, called gel pores.
Gel pores are hundreds or thousands of times smaller than the original capillary pores which are
relatively large. The liquid water present in the gel pores is not part of the solid C S H phase
chemically but it is physically isolated, thus it cannot undergo any further chemical reaction with the
cement.
When hydrated cement paste is observed under microscope at moderate level of magnification, we
could see two apparently different types of C S H gel. One of these gel is less dense and more porous
that appears to occupy

God s Grandeur, By Gerard Manley Hopkins
When God created humankind and nature, he intended them to be connected to each other. God s
Grandeur , a poem written in 1877 by Gerard Manley Hopkins depicts the interconnection between the
natural world and humankind. The poem describes the beauty of God s creation and how humankind
tends to dismiss the fact that the world is a beautiful place. Hopkins formats the poem as a fourteen
line sonnet where a problem is introduced in the first eight lines and a solution to the problem in the
last 6 lines. Hopkins uses describing words like greatness and grandeur to describe creation which
help readers visualize the value and praise he has for the creator. The poet perceives humankind as a
smudge that rubs off onto nature, which invites the assumption that man depreciates the value of
nature. The relationship between humankind and the natural world is visualized as though humans do
not recognize God s power and the beauty of his creation despite it being all around them. The issue
presented is that humans have prioritized their lives around industrialization and are living
consumeristic lives. Humans spend all their efforts working the land and see nature as a way to get
more stuff and are completely unaware of the beauty held within it. The speaker identifies a
connection between humankind and nature where humankind is blinded by earthly things which does
not allow them to see the true magnificence of nature. This is discussed when Hopkins writes about
the divine power of

Comparing James and Jung s Perspectives on Religious...
1. Are the perspectives on religious experience presented in William James Varieties and in Jung
compatible? Briefly explain and compare them.
For William James, his perspective on religious experience was skeptical. He divided religion between
institutional religion and personal religion. For institutional religion he made reference to the religious
group or organization that plays a critical part in the culture of a society. Personal religion he defined
as when an individual has a mystical experience which can occur regardless of the culture. James was

Central to Jung s process of finding one s innate potential was the idea of the numinous. This is
characterized by the power or presence of a divinity. This was closely related to the idea of
synchronicity, which is when two or more events that seem to be unrelated occur together in a
meaningful way, and would be unlikely to occur by chance.
Jung s idea of experiences of synchronicity included the presence of archetypes. An archetype is an
ideal example or model person that others copy or base their actions upon. Jung had archetypes such
as the animus, the anima, and the shadow. The animus is expressed as a masculine inner personality in
females, while the anima is expressed as a feminine inner personality in males. The shadow archetype
consists of repressed shortcomings, weaknesses, and instincts. These archetypes are of the collective
unconscious, and not based on people in their daily lives.
While there are some similarities between James and Jung s views on religious experience, there is
also a great deal of opposing views. James was focused on the mystic experience of religion as a
personal one and was not in favor of organized religion. Jung on the other hand, studied many
organized religions and believed that an institutional setting was beneficial in finding one s innate
potential. Clearly, they both believed that there was a definite psychological factor in religion, but
James had a personal psychological

In contrived observation, the respondents behaviour is observed in an artificial environment, for
example, a food tasting session.
Personal
In personal observation, a researcher observes actual behaviour as it occurs. The observer may or may
not normally attempt to control or manipulate the phenomenon being observed. The observer merely
records what takes place.
Mechanical
Mechanical devices (video, closed circuit television) record what is being observed. These devices
may or may not require the respondent s direct participation. They are used for continuously recording
on going behaviour.
Non participant
The observer does not normally question or communicate with the people being observed. He or she
does not participate.
Participant
In participant observation, the researcher becomes, or is, part of the group that is being investigated.
Participant observation has its roots in ethnographic studies (study of man and races) where
researchers would live in tribal villages, attempting to understand the customs and practices of that
culture. It has a very extensive literature, particularly in sociology (development, nature and laws of
human society) and anthropology (physiological and psychological study of man). Organizations can
be viewed as tribes with their own customs and practices.
Advantages
1)Helps capture the behavior of customers directly.
Disadvantages;
1)Time consuming and costly exercise.
2) Personal biasness of investigators will distort the findings.

Realism in Oedipus the King Essay
Realism in Oedipus Rex
This essay will examine a feature of Sophocles tragedy which causes the reader to doubt the realism
underlying the literary work. Specifically, the essay will consider the feasability of the belief at that
time that the Delphi oracle possessed credibility with the people.
At the outset of the drama the priest of Zeus and the crowd of citizens of Thebes are gathered before
the royal palace of Thebes talking to King Oedipus about the plague which is ravaging the city. The
king is sorely troubled and laments the sad situation. Then he says:

What s amiss?
CREON Banishment, or the shedding blood for blood.
This stain of blood makes shipwreck of our state.
And for the duration of the tragedy the characters explicitly or implicitly acknowledge their total
belief in the directions of the Delphic oracle as the only means of ridding Thebes of the plague.
Historically speaking, did the Delphic oracle have such credibility among the populace?
For an answer to this question we go to The Histories of Herodotus. Herodotus was called the Father
of History by Cicero and others. He lived and wrote in the fifth century BC just like Sophocles. As a
contemporary, Herodotus knew and wrote about the beliefs and customs of the ancient Greeks as an
historian, not as a litterateur. Herodotus was therefore interested in a factual presentation, not in an
imaginative presentation such as Sophocles sought for as a dramatist. Herodotus, therefore, can be
relied upon to either substantiate or contradict the validity of the situation in Oedipus Rex where the
realism of the drama rests considerably on the claimed belief in the infallibility of the Delphic oracle.
Let us examine a portion of The Histories that describes Athens, since Sophocles lived in Athens and
wrote for an Athenian audience and even had Oedipus die at Colonnus, a suburb of Athens. In Book V
Herodotus describes the engagement between the Athenians and the Boeotians, who were defeated;
then another victory for Athens

Without a Name An Episode of War by Stephen Crane is a short story about a lieutenant in an
unnamed war during the late 1890s being shot during an everyday routine. While it is not out of the
ordinary to be shot during a war, a note sticks out: the gritty reality of war tends to glob soldiers of all
ranks together to form a nameless mass which Crane emphasizes. The lieutenant has no name, the war
has no name, the soldiers have no name, nothing. Everyone is a cog in the wheel and when one breaks,
they are quickly replaced. The narrative is driven by the lieutenant s actions to demonstrate Crane s
stylistic approach of American Realist. The American Realist movement is a focus on verisimilitude ...

Those coming back from battle are in high spirits for defeating the enemy but uncaring about those

fashion. An Episode of War by Stephen Crane proves to be a fantastic way to illustrate the stylistics of
the American Realist movement. The grit of the war and the formation of the blob army where each
person is indistinguishable from the next provides a realistic view on how wars were fought during
this time period. The way Crane shows off the world he creates is an intriguing fashion; a man
severely wounded walking around with a battle raging on while he is pumping full of adrenaline. An

varied between ethnicities and religions, the general idea of a creator is consistent. However, with the
extent of experiences and experimentation of Galileo, Bacon and Newton, the world was able to
explore a new realm of reality in scientific discovery and analysis. Although the works of Galileo,
Bacon and Newton can be compared with each other in regard to the idea of experimentation and ...

Francis Bacon is better known for his theories that man will better understand nature if he uses the
mind as a tool rather than rely entirely on scientific discovery. It is Bacon that attempts to connect the
science and understanding of the physical world with society. Bacon s Novum Organum lists a series
of aphorisms by which man should abide by in order to attain a better understanding of the natural
world. These aphorisms are a guide to accepting science as the entire truth of the natural world. His
writings are peculiar because he lays down these guidelines and within them there seems to be a
constant message that instructs doubt in scientific experimentation, where Bacon himself is a scientist
that utilizes the use of experimentation and scientific method. Moreover, he outlines the four classes
of idols that effect the thought and minds of man, I have assigned names, calling the first class Idols of
the Tribe; the second, Idols of the cave; the third, Idols of the Marketplace; the fourth, Idols of the
Theatre (TOM 29). The first idol describes the need for man to distort and discolor nature by
enforcing his own nature upon it. This idol can be seen constantly throughout scientists research as
they constantly draw their own conclusions upon constant experimentation, much like the works of

Refinancing Your Student Loans
Refinancing your student loans means that a private lender is essentially buying your Federal student
loans, paying them off, and creating a new loan that it will lend to you on new, original terms.
The new terms of your refinanced loan will be based off your credit reports, credit score, and other
requirements. The new private loan terms include, among other things, a new interest rate and
potentially a new term (the length of time over which you have to repay your loan).
For example, you could take your Federal student loans that have a 10 year term and refinance them
into one private loan for 20 years.
If you have the option to extend the term of your student loan when you refinance, you should
consider a number of factors before ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, I m a trained corporate attorney with student loan debt. If I was unable to extend the
term of my loan from 10 years to 25 years, then I probably wouldn t have been able to switch career
paths to a financial planner because I had to take a significant pay cut to make the move. Because I
was able to extend the term of my loan and make lower monthly payments, I have much greater job
and career flexibility.
When your monthly student loan payment is lower, you have more options because your debt doesn t
play as significant of a role in your monthly expenses.
Example of extending your student loan term
Assume Amy has $45,000 in Federal student loan debt at 6.0% interest rate on a 10 year, standard
repayment plan. Amy decides to refinance her loans to private loans to get a lower interest rate. Amy
and her lender agree to a new loan with a principal balance of $45,000 at a 4.0% interest rate for a
period of 25 years. Using a simple amortization calculator, I came up with the following calculations:
Amy s term: 25 years (2015 2040)
Amy s monthly payments: $237.53
Total repaid: $71,257.97
Amy pays $16,585.60 more in her total amount repaid by extending her term from 10 years to 25
years (see the example below), but her monthly

Recreation centers, neighborhoods, and many other places have swimming pools. In fact, lots of
colleges and high schools have teams intended for swimming competitions. It is also one of the most
popular sports in the Olympics.
The Equipment
Similar to other sports, swimming while you are naked is not the best option. There are some things
that you need to have if you want to feel safe and convenient while doing this activity.
1. Swimsuit Unless you want other people to see your naked body, you need to wear a swimsuit. Just
like other sports equipment, swimsuits have benefited from the modern technology. Certain fabrics are
manufactured to create minimal resistance while the individual is swimming. In addition, modern
swimsuits can last for a long period of time and resist fading even when regularly used in chlorine
treated swimming pools.
Obviously, not every swimmer would be at ease wearing the revealing swimsuits worn by Olympians.
But you don t have to worry. You can easily buy more modest swimsuits at department stores, sporting
goods, and online merchant sites (e.g. Amazon, eBay,

  • 2. Secondary Research Methods Paper This research will be conducted using secondary research methods. The secondary sources will draw on qualitative research such as, participant observation, interviews, and ethnographic accounts to analyze the topic. The process of this research project will use a deductive approach. A deductive approach is researching from a broad topic and narrowing it down to a more specific topic. This is ideal for this project because there is an immense amount of research done on the development of children and parenting, so therefore this project will narrow down to a specific aspect of these two topics and create new information. Secondary research methods include analyzing and gathering existing literature on the researchers topic. Secondary research methods can be challenging because the existing literature might not address the researchers questions directly and it might not be current or valid. An advantage to secondary research methods is that it is quick and low cost. The data needed to analyze has already been collected and ready to use. • 3. Ghost Military Mission Command Part Three Mission command is the exercise of authority and direction by the commander using mission orders to enable disciplined initiative within the commander s intent to empower agile and adaptive leaders in the conduct of unified land operations (ADRP 6 0) What does a commander do when all communications with higher command is severed? Combatant commanders cannot cease to operate simply because communications are interrupted. In Ghost Fleet, the Chinese completely disrupt all communications for the American fleet. In beginning of the novel, this cripples the fleet. Lack of orders paralyzes the much needed response to the invasion and attacks. The breakdown of communications cannot stop the fight. Mission command outlines how mission orders set the battlefield for success. Disciplined initiative to continue the mission based on a clear understanding of the commander s intent. In the situation presented in the novel, we are given two examples of this. When the attack at Pearl Harbor begins, most commanders of the fleet freeze with indecision when communications cease. This indecision cost countless lives as the torpedoes strike the unmoving ships. In dichotomy, the USS Coronado sees the attack and acts immediately. They are the only ... • 5. Hand Influence On Mental Rotation Introduction The purpose of this experiments was to study the effects of hand preference on mental rotation. We did so by conducting an experiment where half of the participants were asked to use their dominant hand to respond to images rotating at one of four degrees or to use their non dominant hand. I hypothesize a main effect for angle and hand dominance as well as interaction between the two variables in effecting the response time as well as the accuracy rate. In an experiment on the mental rotation of three dimensional objects conducted by Shepard and Metzler(1971), the researchers were looking more in depth of the rotation of these objects. They were either rotations of each object or completely different depictions. The independent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mixed hand users had significantly greater result than the left hand users meaning that one s ability to perform well may be dependent on their normal motor habits. Another experiment which focused on the mental rotation of both two dimensional and three dimensional object was conducted by Sonya Regehr, Lyndon B.J.P. Smith, and Garth N. Smith (1985). They hypothesized that three dimensional objects would be harder to mentally rotate than two dimensional objects. They found that response time to mirrored objects were significantly less in the two dimensional objects than the three dimensional objects. They were able to conclude that for larger degrees of rotation, the rate of mental rotation for two dimensional objects is greater than those for three dimensional objects. In an experiment comparing the differences in gender on mental rotation of three dimensional objects, S. Marion Tapley and M.P. Bryden (1977) found that men had higher accuracy rates than women and that the slope of function relating to the response time to degree of rotation was steeper in women. This study suggests that frequent use of visual imagery was related to mental rotation rated in men and not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. We Grow Accustomed to the Dark... We grow accustomed to the dark... Darkness is a recurring image in literature that evokes a universal unknown, yet is often entrenched in many meanings. A master poet, Emily Dickinson employs darkness as a metaphor many times throughout her poetry. In We grow accustomed to the dark (#428) she talks of the newness that awaits when we fit our Vision to the Dark. As enigmatic and shrouded in mystery as the dark she explores, Dickinson s poetry seems our only door to understanding the recluse. As she wrote to her friend T.W. Higginson on April 15, 1862, the Mind is so near itself it cannot see, distinctly (Letters 253). In this musing, she acquiesces to a notion that man remains locked in an internal struggle with himself. This inner ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the poem has fluidity despite its apparent scarcity of rhyme. After examining the alteration of syllables in each line, a pattern is revealed in this poem concerning darkness. The first nine lines alternate between 8 and 6 syllables. These lines are concerned, as any narrative is, with exposition. These lines set up darkness as an internal conflict to come. The conflict intensifies in lines 10 and 11 as we are bombarded by an explosion of 8 syllables in each line. These lines present the conflict within one s own mind at its most desperate. After this climax, the syllables in the last nine lines resolve the conflict presented. In these lines, Dickinson presents us with an archetypal figure that is faced with a conflict: the bravest hero. These lines present the resolution in lines that alternate between 6 and 7 syllables. Just as the syllables decrease, the falling action presents us with a final insight. This insight discusses how darkness is an insurmountable entity that, like the hero, we must face to continue straight through Life (line 20). The next seemingly arbitrary decision is Dickinson s capitalization. The capitalization at the beginning of the sentence must be capitalized; therefore, we ll focus on the capitalizations that lie within each sentence. In this poem, each of these words is a noun. Past this simple reading, what may we deduce from these capitalizations? Each stanza presents a different set of capitalized objects ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Biology Of The Cannabis Genomic Research Initiative Learning information has engaged and interested me throughout the courses I have taken; however, the opportunity to discover new information through research is one of my most intellectually stimulating experiences. Although I am deeply fascinated by a four letter code that encodes the human body, I am also providing myself the freedom within my research to learn about other organisms and genetic diseases that I hope to treat within my career. My longest ongoing project began in October 2014 under the guidance of Dr. Daniela Vergara, a post doctoral researcher of the CGRI, who helped another undergraduate student and I begin to troubleshoot a protocol for a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). • 10. How Would Utopus Create A Dystopian Society Utopia is a previously inhabited piece of land conquered by King Utopus. Before Utopus seized the land of Utopia, it was not an island. Utopia was connected to the rest of the continent. However, Utopus arranged for his soldiers and the native settlers of the land to excavate a fifteen mile ditch. The water surrounding the island aids the separation between Utopia and its neighbors. One side of the water is very shallow, and on the other side, sharp rocks prevent boats from entering. So, ships from the rest of the continent cannot navigate these waters without help from experienced Utopians. Shaped like a crescent, the island stretches 200 feet wide to 500 feet tall. Second, since the water separates Utopia from the rest of the continent, Utopians chances of war decrease no one surrounds them. Liberty interests of patients while coping with terminal illness, however, unlike autonomy, are protected under the Constitution as fundamental rights. Advancements in medicine are extending the average life expectancy for adults. As society ages, not only do individuals battle terminal illness, but they combat the unanticipated demands on their right to die with dignity. Although there is a distinction between euthanasia and death with dignity, the purpose of both is to end one s unbearable pain and suffering. The act of euthanasia has negative connotations that stem from a history of genocide. Nazi Germany is an illustrious example of this deed. Using cyanide gas, the Germans exterminated a large portion of the Jewish population. Contrary to popular opinion, genocide is not limited to the past. The atrocities of this practice resurfaced a multitude of times, such as in the civil war, in Rwanda, as well as the conflict in Darfur. Social conditions in all of these countries contributed towards conflict and crisis situations resulting in the onset of social control. Genocide, often viewed as a deviant action, is also a type of social control. The casualties of these wars were not permitted to die with their dignity. Their deaths, indeed, did engender suffering. In these cases, the affected individuals experienced both active and non voluntary euthanasia. History provides valuable lessons. Learning about the suffering of others affords us the opportunity to take action to prevent the possibility of reoccurrence. Karen Quinlan is an infamous case from the 1970 s. Bilingual Education Report As a middle school ESL teacher in one of the states which has legally mandated the pedagogically questionable supported English immersion (SEI) as the preferred manner of instruction for English language learners, I have not yet been persuaded by those who insist that the elimination of bilingual education has been a disaster. I concede that my perspective is impacted by having seen the results of perhaps an uncommonly low quality bilingual program in my own district. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The 1980s also saw the rise of a number of organizations which promoted the exclusive use of English in American public life and schools. The research support for this backlash seems to have rested primarily on reviews of previous program evaluations conducted by Baker and de Kanter (1981, 1983), with more than 90% of the previous studies being excluded because Baker and de Kanter deemed them methodologically unsound. However, their analysis was rapidly contested by critics who felt that had these researchers properly accounted for variables across the studies, the results from the meta analysis would instead have demonstrated small to moderate differences supporting bilingual education (Nieto, 2009). The tide turned again with the 1994 Clinton Administration reauthorization of the Bilingual Education act, also known as the Improving America s Schools Act, which promoted bilingual education for the first time not just to help immigrants learn English, but also as way to develop the human capital of the nation and promote American competitiveness in the global economy. • 20. Women s Roles Of Women In Duel In The Sun Straying away from the stereotypical timid housewife, women in the West were given room to create new identities. In the movie Duel in the Sun (1946), Pearl engages in a shootout in the desert with a man. While in the movie The Outlaw (1943), Rio McDonald ambushes gunfighters in order to avenge her brother s death. Although women often stood in the shadows of their more rugged male counterparts, these movies and characters proved that women were just as rugged as men, shocking the world with their ruthless behavior and unladylike behavior. These Wild West women were pioneers in their own way because they challenged the traditional roles of females, similar to how the present day feminist movement aims for gender equality within a patriarchal society. Present day feminism champions for equal pay in the workplace since according to the National Organization for Women women are paid on average only 77 percent of what men are paid. • 21. Governmental Involvement In The War On Drugs As a person uses drugs, the brain adjusts to excesses of dopamine, subsequently reducing the amounts, in turn lowering the ability of cells in the reward circuits in response. Consequently this reduces the high quality in comparison to the initial usage. The effect, known as tolerance, causes users to increase their dosage to achieve a similar high leading to addiction. Long term use causes a change in chemical systems, and massive health issues such as birth defects, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis and other infectious diseases, cardiovascular effects, respiratory effects, gastrointestinal effects, musculoskeletal effects, other organ damage, neurological effects, mental health effects, possible amputations due to infected cites, and death (WebMD). So why would anyone do drugs? Other than coping mechanisms, curiosity, and peer pressure, governmental involvement may indirectly help stabilize drug trade, leading to more drug popularity. While genetic and environmental factors such as economic status, etc., interact with critical development stages concerning addiction, the factors above are a general overview found in textbook. More concerning however, is governmental involvement. As their presence contributes largely to addiction, such as the legalization of alchol, nicotine, and prescription drugs, the media, glorifying usage, and their strategies in the War on Drugs. The governments of the interregnum failed to find an acceptable settlement predominantly due the power vacuum which was left by the King when he was executed. This wasn t helped by the lack of legitimacy of the regicide where only 59 MP s signed Charles death warrant. However one could argue that Oliver Cromwell, Parliament and The New Model Army s want and desire for more power also led to the failure to find an acceptable settlement. After Charles was executed several political problems arose because there was no direction of settlement due to the degree and nature of the reform. For example, the military wanted a radical religious reform, led by John Lambert, whereas the civilians (or parliament) wanted a more moderate, parliament endorsed regime, led by figures such as Lord Broghill. Therefore, Cromwell was a major source of division and was said to be an ideological schizophrenic (Worden). Furthermore division was made worse by Oliver Cromwell (Worden) which is seen with the fluctuation of Cromwell s views between 1649 58, beginning with the dissolution of the Rump Parliament, because he favoured the Nominated Assembly, devised by fifth monarchist Thomas Harrison, however the Assembly was named the Barebones Parliament. Despite Cromwell initially siding with a Godly rule (Smith), he reverted back to the regime to protect tradition, helped by Lambert who ended the Barebones Parliament due to the fear of the increasing power of religious radicals. Therefore, it was the indecisive nature of Oliver Cromwell that led to the failure in attempting to create an acceptable settlement in politics and religion. Religious radicalism was fundamentally linked politics. Following Civil War in 1642, religious radicalism evolved due to the collapse of censorship and the Church of England which brought social upheaval across England, making it increasingly difficult for Cromwell to achieve an acceptable settlement. Report On Chemical Composition And Structure Of Csh CE 2020: Construction Materials Report on Chemical composition and Structure of CSH Arjit Soni ES13B1005 Introduction: The C S H gel is the most abundant reaction product in cement, occupying about half of the paste volume, it is also responsible for most of the properties of cement paste. This is just not because it is a strong or stable phase but because it forms a continuous layer that binds the cement particles together. All the other hydration products of cement form discrete crystals that are naturally strong but do not have good connections to the solid phases they are in contact with hence cannot contribute much to the overall strength of the cement paste. C S H gel gets the ability of the to act as a binding phase from its nanometer level structure. As C S H gel grows outward from the cement particles, it does not form a single large block or monolithic solid phase but instead develops a complex internal system of tiny pores, called gel pores. Gel pores are hundreds or thousands of times smaller than the original capillary pores which are relatively large. The liquid water present in the gel pores is not part of the solid C S H phase chemically but it is physically isolated, thus it cannot undergo any further chemical reaction with the cement. When hydrated cement paste is observed under microscope at moderate level of magnification, we could see two apparently different types of C S H gel. One of these gel is less dense and more porous that appears to occupy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

God s Grandeur , a poem written in 1877 by Gerard Manley Hopkins depicts the interconnection between the natural world and humankind. The poem describes the beauty of God s creation and how humankind tends to dismiss the fact that the world is a beautiful place. Hopkins formats the poem as a fourteen line sonnet where a problem is introduced in the first eight lines and a solution to the problem in the last 6 lines. Hopkins uses describing words like greatness and grandeur to describe creation which help readers visualize the value and praise he has for the creator. The poet perceives humankind as a smudge that rubs off onto nature, which invites the assumption that man depreciates the value of nature. The relationship between humankind and the natural world is visualized as though humans do not recognize God s power and the beauty of his creation despite it being all around them. The issue presented is that humans have prioritized their lives around industrialization and are living consumeristic lives. Humans spend all their efforts working the land and see nature as a way to get more stuff and are completely unaware of the beauty held within it. The speaker identifies a connection between humankind and nature where humankind is blinded by earthly things which does not allow them to see the true magnificence of nature. This was closely related to the idea of synchronicity, which is when two or more events that seem to be unrelated occur together in a meaningful way, and would be unlikely to occur by chance. Jung s idea of experiences of synchronicity included the presence of archetypes. An archetype is an ideal example or model person that others copy or base their actions upon. Jung had archetypes such as the animus, the anima, and the shadow. The animus is expressed as a masculine inner personality in females, while the anima is expressed as a feminine inner personality in males. The shadow archetype consists of repressed shortcomings, weaknesses, and instincts. These archetypes are of the collective unconscious, and not based on people in their daily lives. While there are some similarities between James and Jung s views on religious experience, there is also a great deal of opposing views. James was focused on the mystic experience of religion as a personal one and was not in favor of organized religion. And for the duration of the tragedy the characters explicitly or implicitly acknowledge their total belief in the directions of the Delphic oracle as the only means of ridding Thebes of the plague. Historically speaking, did the Delphic oracle have such credibility among the populace? For an answer to this question we go to The Histories of Herodotus. Herodotus was called the Father of History by Cicero and others. He lived and wrote in the fifth century BC just like Sophocles. As a contemporary, Herodotus knew and wrote about the beliefs and customs of the ancient Greeks as an historian, not as a litterateur. Herodotus was therefore interested in a factual presentation, not in an imaginative presentation such as Sophocles sought for as a dramatist. Herodotus, therefore, can be relied upon to either substantiate or contradict the validity of the situation in Oedipus Rex where the realism of the drama rests considerably on the claimed belief in the infallibility of the Delphic oracle. Let us examine a portion of The Histories that describes Athens, since Sophocles lived in Athens and wrote for an Athenian audience and even had Oedipus die at Colonnus, a suburb of Athens. Refinancing Your Student Loans Refinancing your student loans means that a private lender is essentially buying your Federal student loans, paying them off, and creating a new loan that it will lend to you on new, original terms. Using a simple amortization calculator, I came up with the following calculations: Amy s term: 25 years (2015 2040) Amy s monthly payments: $237.53 Total repaid: $71,257.97 Amy pays $16,585.60 more in her total amount repaid by extending her term from 10 years to 25 years (see the example below), but her monthly ...
