Economic Issues Of Texas State Government
Economic Issues of Texas
Funding in Texas is an economic issue that has a variety of applications for the state
government. There are many pros and cons about Texas state government, how it is
being funded, and how it is funding other government ran programs. The influences
that funding has is an economic issue that affects Texassociety as a whole through
taxes, budgeting, and in policies through state, or local government.
The Taxation Model
Description of Texas Taxes. Historically Texas political culture has been known to
have a limited government. Texas minimum government involvement influences and
supports Texas being known as a low tax state. Research by Tax Foundation states
Texas is one of the seven states to adopt the no state income tax for residents; other
states to embrace the no state income tax system are Alaska, Florida, Nevada,
South Dakota, Washington, and Wyoming. Texas stance on no state income tax is a
big motivating factor for families, and businesses to move to the area. Compared to
other states in the nation Champagne, Anthony, (2015, January, 20) states Texans
paid 44.97 in state taxes for each $1,000 of personal income, ranking it 46th among
the 50 states (page 355). However, even though no state income tax sounds like an
advantage, even a state like Texas has its pros and cons about its complex tax
system. Local taxes can have a different tax model and local taxes can counterbalance
state taxes. When looking at local taxes Texas

Propane Exports Case Study
A July 5th Wall Street Journal article touts the increasing success and the upsurge of
shale exports by the United States resulting in record volume of propane exports.
The boom in exports has been aided by many factors such as; demand, lower
shipping cost, expansion and increased supply.
What impact is the shale boom having on U.S. propane exports?
During the drilling of shale, oil producers have been provided an overwhelming
supply of propane that at one point they had to pay customers to take off their
hands. However, driven by a rise in foreign sales, the U.S. is exporting a record
volume of propane. The shale boom, which hit an all time high of 884,000 barrels a
day in February, has made the United States a more dominant force in the global
energy trade.
The shale boom made has thus increased the supply of propane and driven the
growth of foreign ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The recent completion of a 5.4 billion dollar expansion of the Panama Canal has
enabled larger shipping boats to access ports. Therefore, the movement of the gas has
become faster and cheaper in their deliver to the large markets of Japan, China and
South Korea.
What are the destinations of U.S. propane exports?
In 2013, the U.S. overtook Qatar as the world s top propane shipper (Dezember,
2016). Foreign markets are the major driving forces responsible for the increasing
demand. About half of all U.S. exports wind up in Latin America, while the rest of
US exports are shipping to northwest Europe and Asian markets. JBC Energy
estimates the deficit between what Asia can supply and demand for liquefied
petroleum gas will rise to a record of 1.42 million barrels per day in 2016, surpassing
last year s 1.3 million barrels per day.
How would the U.S. s dominant position on propane exports benefit further from the
expansion of the Panama
An Analysis Of Dionysus By Euripides Unconscious Desire
Unconscious Desire and Fear: Is an Innate Force of Nature. Euripides uses
metamorphism in a way that may have been, somewhat, disparaging to Greek,
particularly male, audiences. Although, the play portrays so many of Dionysus godly
attributes such as long flowing locks, extreme attractiveness, and the power to drive
one mad, Euripides makes no mistake to characterize the human qualities of Dionysus
being deliberate, plotting, angry, and vengeful. While all Greek gods seem to
have the aforementioned duality, Dionysus dualism appears to have a twofold
motive; that is to avenge his mother s reputation as well as reclaim his position as a
God. As Dionysus does so, he can be read as an aphorism to embrace the human
desire for divine experiences, which normally manifest as an unconscious desire and
fear within a human which is an innate force of nature. As the play opens, Dionysus
reasoning for retuning to Thebes, is exemplified by the fact that he is there to
avenge his mother s reputation because his mother s sisters... gossiped that this
Dionysus was no child of Zeus (32 34). The chorus then goes on to tell the back story
of Dionysus and how quicker than death / Zeus swept him up, after his mother s

The banter goes on shortly displaying both Pantheus cynicism and intrigue in
Dionysian ritual and the benefits of such. As Pentheus continues to embark on the
punishments he plans to perform on Dionysus, he also attempts to provoke the god
to materialize before him in which Dionysus replies, Where I am. Your lack of faith
has blurred your vision (601). Dionysus continues to explain that by doing harm to
him he also blasphemes the god. Pantheus, enraged, orders him locked in the stables.
Ironically, Pantheus does not fulfil, at this point, any of the threats he has made to the
stranger and what follows is a boastful regale between the chorus, divine beings, and
Meaning of Ahimsa Essay
Meaning of Ahimsa Ahimsa is a Sanskrit term that translates roughly into non
injury to living beings or dynamic harmlessness. Ahimsa tends to evoke images of
monks wearing cloths over their faces to avoid breathing microscopic beings and
sweeping the insects off the path in front of them as they walk so they won t
accidentally crush one under their feet. One cannot easily live in today s world
without causing some harm to other beings but that does not mean we shouldn t try
to keep it to a minimum. There are some relatively easy steps you can take to reduce
the suffering in your wake. Practice of Ahimsa develops love. Ahimsa is another

Ahimsa is the pivot and all virtues revolve around Ahimsa. Just as all footprints are
accommodated in those of the elephant, so also do all religious rules become
merged in the great vow of Ahimsa. Ahimsa is soul force. Hate melts in the
presence of love. Hate dissolves in the presence of Ahimsa. There is no power
greater than Ahimsa. The practice of Ahimsa develops will power to a
considerable degree. The practice of Ahimsa will make you fearless. He, who
practices Ahimsa with real faith, can move the whole world, can tame wild
animals and can win the hearts of all his enemies. He can do and undo things. The
power of Ahimsa is infinitely more wonderful and subtler than electricity or
magnetism. The law of Ahimsa is as much exact and precise as the law of
gravitation. You must know the correct way to apply it intelligently and with
scientific accuracy. If you are able to apply it with precision, you can work wonders.
You can command the elements and Nature as well. Forms of Ahimsa Only the
ordinary people think that Ahimsa is not to hurt any living being physically. The vow
of Ahimsa is broken even by showing contempt towards another man, by entertaining
unreasonable dislike for or prejudice towards anybody, by frowning at another man,
by hating another man, by abusing another man, by speaking ill of others, by
Summary Of The Song Shake It Out
Act 3 Scene 1
For this scene I chose the song Shake It Out by Florence and The Machine. I chose
this song because it talks about having a battle with yourself and not telling anyone
about it. It s about having dilemmas of whether to tell people about whatever you
re having trouble with or to just not tell anybody and keep it to yourself. A
quotation from the song that explains this is: And I ve been a fool and I ve been
blind I can never leave the past behind I can see no way, I can see no way I m
always dragging that horse around. This song also describes great
misunderstandings and how the singer doesn t understand what exactly she s done or
what she s going to do. This song connects to the scene because Olivia confesses her

Parenthood Should No Longer Be Funded By The Federal...
Millions of taxpayer dollars are going to fund Planned Parenthood. With the
introduction of Obamacare, Planned Parenthood has become a secondary cost to
ensure women have health care throughout the United States. Along with the wasted
money being spent on Planned Parenthood, other issues have been revealed about
Planned Parenthood. The high cost of administration and the sale of fetus tissue and
organs have become the latest in an agency out of control. Because of the wasteful
administration of funds and ethical questions about disposing of fetuses, Planned
Parenthood should no longer be funded by the Federal government.
The tax paying citizens of the United States should know the cost and wasteful
spending Planned Parenthood is conducted within the agency. Once the citizens
become aware of the wasteful spending of millions of dollars, they will be able to
take a stance against this agency s policy. With the knowledge acquired, the citizens
will be able to make a fully informed decision when asking their congressman to vote
against funding of Planned Parenthood. American Birth Control League s name was
changed to Planned Parenthood, which enabled the organization to encompass a new
image and justify funding from the government and wealthy donors (Perry 1). The
agency has influenced the birth control of the poor and the upper class citizens of
society.
Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, viewed poverty, illness, and
strife caused by the fate of being in a

if anything may go wrong you will not be too stress out on you
The final step is buying your big ticket items. Getting your dress can make it feel that
it is really going to happen. Bring your idea book with you when you are looking at
dress. The wedding agent can even see what you are looking for and help you with
some suggestions on what type of dresses will look great on you. I would suggest
that you bring your shoes and hair piece with you so you get the best idea how the
dress will look. I know that picking dresses may seem daunting but bring a person
that you trust and respect their opinion. Don t forget your bride maid s dresses and
your groom s tuxedos. Another big ticket item is flowers. Talk to your florist about
what you want and arrange them to do the rest of the work. This can be a load
taken off your mind knowing that this is taken care of and will be delivered to
your wedding on the day or the day before. Buying materials either in person or
online should be done early on. You don t want to be waiting for them when your

Human Impact On The Platte River

The team found that upstream fish habitats were exponentially impacted by human
activities downstream. In addition to the upstream movement of impacts human
impacts also travel downstream. Different human impacts on the Yellowstone River

Comparative Textual Analysis of Two Articles
The key to being able to differentiate one newspaper from another is often, if not
always, the way the latter presents its news, both aesthetically and stylistically.
These aspects have gradually divided newspapers into two distinct categories:
broadsheets and tabloids. The former being a more neutral and respected type and
the latter a newspaper for more or less entertainment purposes only. This can be well
observed in two specific articles that both report on political campaigns.
The first one, an extract from The New Vision, a pro government Ugandan
publication, recounts presidential candidate Paddy Bitama s arrival to the official
nomination as an election candidate. The article vaguely follows Bitama („of

The second article however, recounts the story of Nixon s involvement in a bugging
scandal that eventually led to his resignation as U.S. president. Another basic aspect
that differentiates this newspaper article from the Ugandan one is, first of all, that it
is not as recent (seeing as the latter was published in 2010 and the former in 1972)
and seems to be a bit more serious and longer in length. Nonetheless, this article,
entitled „GOP security aide among 5 arrested in bugging affair still has some
emotive and vague language: „We deplore action of this kind in or our of politics
and „the mystery deepens , along with a few euphemisms such as „the bugging
incident . From this one will be able to conclude that even this article is not
completely un biased. In fact, it is, additionally, rather informal. This is especially
obvious when the journalists decide to use GOP, a nickname for the Republican Party
and an abbreviation of „Grand Old Party , instead of its official name.
Finally, the short paragraphs that make the article a whole are crowded with various
quotes, and even mention the rather irrelevant age of a certain CIA employee James
W. McCord. Even though these aspects are, as
Gender s Role in College Sports Essay
Gender s Role in College Sports
Throughout generations, humans have played organized games and sports. For that
same amount of time, it has been instilled that men are faster, stronger, and just plain
better at athletics. We also have come to realize that the slower, weaker, and not as
good women make up for physical strength with mental prowess, to succeed on the
playing fields and courts of the world. However, this concept has not caught up with

skin manifestations are dusky center, inner pale ring, and erythematous outer border.
It usually affect age 10 40y/o. Hypersensitivity reaction is most commonly triggered
by infection so treat the underlying cause. HSV is most common cause so treat with

threatening reaction. Many manifestations are involved such as detachment of the
epidermis, acute blisters, erosion, severe purulent conjunctivitis, stomatitis and
purpura macules. The main etiology is medications. Usually started as a high fever

The middle class and the low class were very different from the upper class. The
middle class included free commoners. This class included a lot of the population
in the civilization and included artisans of all kinds, lower level officials, soldiers

Hearing Loss Intervention
In today s time, there is a need for new prevention, assessment, and intervention
strategies for adults experiencing hearing loss accompanied by, or at risk for,
dementia (Pichora Fuller, 2015). Research has found that individuals with hearing
loss are at risk for developing dementia, and dementia is also more prevalent in
individuals with dementia. Patients with dementia are recognized at different stages,
and the Pichora Fuller questions the possibility of earlier and better health care
slowing the progression of, or even completely deterring, dementia. Often, those with
high cognitive abilities are involved in social activities, some type of physical
activities, may be a musician, or possess good cognitive skills, such as being
bilingual. However, individuals that experience poor hearing often are hindered when
it comes to participating in such activities, which is thought to be one significant link
between dementia and hearing loss. When assessing the connection between hearing

The most common form of hearing rehabilitation is hearing aids. The issue arises
when the oldest old adults do not have access to hearing aids, which could be due to
financial issues or because they are unable to go to an audiologist s clinic or office.
Future research is needed in the areas of prevention, assessment, and intervention. A
greatly structured research project is needed for determining how to prevent or slow
dementia. For assessment, establishing multi disciplinary teams willing to share their
knowledge of cognition and hearing is critical. More research is needed for
intervention to determine the burden that is placed on a caregiver, as well as how
intervention could assist caregivers faced with taking care of an oldest old patient
with a hearing loss and dementia.

These different shifts depict the number of customer service employees and the time
frames they are scheduled. The home improvement retail industry has two types of
customers; the professional/contractor and the do it yourself individual. These
customers differentiating shopping trends and support needs are taken into
consideration when scheduling employees for the floor. In evaluating the proposed
schedule, business trend, customer demographic and operating shifts were taken into
consideration when allocating customer service employees during operating hours.
Schedule Shifts
The majority of professional/contractor customers shop during early hours of the
morning which is known as the opening shift (7am 10am). Professional/contract
customers are experienced and have knowledge of the merchandise that they need
and where it s located in the store given their visit frequency. Given these facets, the
number of customer service employees on the floor is much higher than is needed.
The proposed employee numbers are higher than needed and I recommend the AMC
advance planners schedule estimates for the times between 7am and 11am be used.
Using AMC advance planners estimated schedule provides lower staffing costs and
gives you the ability to utilize the employees at a different time during store
Essay on The Penguing Classic Early Irish Myths and Sagas
The Penguing Classic Early Irish Myths and Sagas
The Penguin Classic Early Irish Myths And Sagas exhibits a great cross section of
the many examples of the stories told by Iron Age Celts. These stories revolve
around the customs, battles, gods, and heroes of the ancient Celts. It is said that a
great deal can be learned from Irish tales about the clothing, weapons, houses, and
other aspects of the material culture of the Iron Age Celts 1 and that the stories are
more valuable for scholars of society than scholars of religion 2.
The question if these stories are a good window on the Iron Age is a difficult one.

Beside these logical impossibilities historians have also found mistakes in the

The Pagan Religions of the Ancient British Isles tells of many errors in the in the

the earliest literature was not a window on the Iron Age but on the early Middle

chariots from the Christian times 5. The real Iron Age Celts had a simpler way of
living than the higher class they are portrayed to have enjoyed living in.
The stories in the book Early Irish Myths And Sagas can tell us a great deal about
the Celtic Peoples praying to more than one god. Some of the stories tell us who their

Abstract
In this thesis the Optimization of Number of Spot welds on Automobile Wheel Rim
using Finite Element Analysis is studied. Spot welded rim must pass certain tests like
Weld Strength Test (WST), Dynamic Cornering Fatigue Test (DCFT) and Radial
Fatigue Test (RFT). In Weld Strength test a shear forceis applied on the spot weld
using Universal Testing Machine. In dynamic cornering fatigue Test a moment is
applied on the rim as specified by the company standards. In Radial Fatigue Test
Influence of Tire pressure and vehicle load are studied. We choose three parameters
for optimization namely, Number of spots on rim, spot diameter and thickness of rim.
Keywords: Rim, Weld Strength Test, Dynamic Cornering Fatigue Test, Radial Fatigue

1. Introduction
Automotive wheel, as a critical component in the vehicle, has to meet the strict
requirements of driving safety. Traditionally, the new designed wheel is tested in the
laboratory for its life through an accelerated fatigue test before the actual production
starts. However, a physical prototype test time lasts at least 7 days and an average
design period is 6 months or more depending on the requirement, so the time to test
and inspect wheel during development is very consuming. At the same time,

(Flannery O Connor). Mary Flannery O Connor was born in 1925 in a Catholic
family in the south of the United States, particularly in Savannah (Georgia). Her
Catholic inheritance influenced her writing, in such a way that the characters of her
stories, which are physically and morally perverted, walk towards a theological
revelation that release them from that moral and physical decadence specially those
of the story that is analyzed in this paper, A Good Man is Hard to Find, where the
main characters only discover their goodness when they face death . But far from
going into existentialist digressions, her short stories are depictions of the daily
life, where the reader can learn something to apply in his life. Sometimes the
stories are inspired in the coarse reading of a newspaper, sometimes they seem to
be a hopscotch drawn by a boy, who in his simplicity, hides the concerns of a society
that is decadent and lacking in values, according to O Connor, as stated in the initial
quote. Flannery O Connor was stuck to the past, shy and for most part
Aesthetic Judgement And Aesthetic Judgment
Anyone who is familiar with the science of evolution in human beings and its
philosophical context in history and modern society can appropriately associate that
idea with variety amongst individuals. Undeniably, there is a persistent growth in
the variety of people who identify in a myriad of groups. Interestingly enough, if
anyone were to take a step back and observe the variety of individuals around them,
he or she would participate in abstract notion of aesthetic judgment or an analysis of
what the individual deems to be beautiful based off of differing factors, though
initially based off of physical attributes. On a psychological level, this aesthetic
viewpoint is a reflection of the relative perspective of people and circumstances in
which they consider what is attractive or repulsive , and apply how it is universally
understood beauty attracts while ugliness repels. Aesthetic judgment can be utilized
as a mechanism to enhance survival and reproduction within a species. Thus, this
overall notion of aesthetic judgment can be associated to the emerging theory of
evolutionand everything it encompasses. With this groundbreaking discovery, a
variety of historically great modern thinkers (philosophers) managed to incorporate
this scientific theory into their understanding of the world around them. Ultimately,
while their perspectives may vary, these philosophers fundamentally acknowledge
that this evolutionary change is ever present and influentially active in
William Shakespeare s Twelfth Night And Sheridan s The...
The theme of love is central to the attitudes in both Shakespeare s Twelfth Night and
Sheridan s The Rivals . Both playwrights highlight the different kinds of love and
portray these through each character s experience with the emotion. In both plays,
the complexity of love is embodied by deception which demonstrates how easily our
feelings can be manipulated, which is also conveyed through comedy. Shakespeare
mocks the main character s idea s of loveby showing how the devotion that connects
siblings and servants to masters prove more constant than any of the romantic bonds
amongst the other characters. Throughout this piece I am going to discuss not only
the techniques that are used to present the theme of love, but also how both... Show

This not only alerts us to Orsino s disturbing ideas about love, but also shows us
how erotic desire is linked to violence and self indulgence. Orsino is more
concerned with himself as a lover than with the object of his love, suggesting he is a
narcissist; implying that with false love comes self love.
There is no woman s sides
Can bide the beating of so strong a passion
This declarative implies there is no woman strong enough to to withhold the intense
passion felt by Orsino. The harsh alliterative plosives used in the violent metaphor
bide the beating portray an almost misogynistic attitude again conveying that his
ability to love is more important to him than being in love.
In the opening scene, he imagines himself as the king of Olivia s mind and heart
which suggests a marital hierarchy rather than mutuality. This suggests that Orsino s
perceptions of love are superficial, and again enforces a misogynistic attitude.
Similarly, in The Rivals , the character Lydia Languish is a creature of romantic
sensibility. The alveolal laterals in her name create an alluring sound hinting at her
desire for romance. One of the prominent themes in the play is that of the 18th
century opposition between courtship s means and objective: falling in love and
marriage. Lydia s guardian Mrs Malaprop wishes for Lydia to have an arranged
marriage; to gain
The Benefits and Challenges of Agile Methodology
Agile methodology is a software development lifecycle which designed to produce
faster development and high quality results compared with the traditional lifecycle.
The Agile method focuses on incremental and iterative development where
requirements, specifications, design, implementation, and testing continue
throughout the project lifecycle (Nanthaamornphong, Morris, Rouson Michelsen,
2013). Agile software developmentmethods enable software developer to be more
flexible and responsive to the changing environments and customer demands.
However, Agile adoption comes with special challenges and fundamental
organizational changes are necessary for successful outcome.
From our chosen case study, not all organizations are successfully adopting Agile
methods and techniques in software development. For example, there are around 250
employees in Information Technology, Telecommunication and System Development
division at the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E). The government entity which had used
traditional waterfall approach for many years and decided to adopt Agile development
method SCRUM. Government entity had hired a Agile expert as their consultant, the
consultant analyzes current waterfall model project, conduct meetings with
management and development teams, provide training introduction to Agile
development of SCRUM for 30 department employees from different levels and roles.
At the SCRUM phase, the team had encountered unexpected challenges which had

Social Influence Refers To Changes In An Individual’S
Own
Social influence refers to changes in an individual s own thought, belief, attitude and
behaviours in accordance with other individuals or groups thoughts and feelings
(Moussaid, Kammer, Analytis Neth, 2013). There are three main forms of social
influence, these includes conformity, compliance and obedience which has an impact
on the daily lives of people in the society. Conformitycan be referred to as when a
person changes their attitudes to fit into the social norms of different groups. The
concept of obedience takes place when an individual follow the instructions of others
that they feel are more influential than them. Compliance can refer to a situation
where an individual submits to other people s requests. Psychologists have... Show

They showed in their study that females were more likely to conform to the
majority than male, therefore suggest that generations have developed as young
males currently do not conform to the majority unlike in Asch (1951) where they
did conform. The use of peers in the Mori and Arai (2010) study can be considered
high in ecological validity and the use of males and females shows the way social
roles of different genders has an impact on the issue of conformity. Psychologists
examined the role of culture in conformity, Cinnirella and Green (2007) found out
that those people from eastern or Asian culture are more likely to conform than those
that are from western cultures in a face to face situation. This suggests that an
individual could be influenced by others when they are physically faced with groups
from the same culture as them especially those from the collectivist culture because
they believe that they wouldn t have the chance to disagree with them compared to
being in a non face to face setting such as online communication.
Psychologists have examined conformity among adults and adolescents but
examining conformity among children has been ignored in many studies. Sun and Yu
(2016) found that six year old children would conform to their peers than those who

Use of measurement
Deming Juran and Crosby considers measurement as very important to improve
quality but they use it in different ways. For Juran and Crosby they view the cost of
quality as a focus of measurement. Cost can measured in dollars and for both Crosby

efforts of the quality will be ultimately measured by meeting customer requirements.
Juran normally considers the cost of all the poor quality as a important factor

A Failure to Adapt: Why Communism Survived in China and failed In the USSR
The eventual demise of Communism in the USSR was a direct consequence of the
Soviet Union s failure to adapt to the changes occurring in the world during the 1920
s to the 1940 s. Unlike Communist China, the USSR failed to place economic growth
ahead of political reform. In this regard, Russia was unsuccessful in establishing a
national identity and in instituting a stable government through popular consent of its
people. Moreover, Communist Russia failed to create a national identity, ignoring the
multitude of ethnic minorities existing in the USSR. Arguably, the future stability of
the two previously conventional Communist countries, will reflect their ability to
develop a market economy, establish a stable government, and be recognized and
involved on a global scale.
As indicated, the Soviet Union failed to place economic reform ahead of political
change, which ultimately resulted in the failure of communism in Russia. In the face
of a global market economy and Western Capitalism, the USSR demonstrated
ambivalence about joining the international order. Traditional communist ideology
was to provide for every individual an equal amount of goods and services, thus
creating a state of equality amongst the populous (Leveler, 16). Within the USSR,
several individuals felt as if their current hardships could be blamed on
Comparison Between R And Python
Chapter 3
Today, R and Python are the most popular open tools for Machine Learning. This
Chapter presents a general overview of R and Python, their characteristics and usage
for machine learning. Lastly, a comparison matrix of R and Python for ML is
provided at the end of this chapter.
About R
R stands for both the statistical programming language and the software environment.
It is one of the most popular statistical environment for machine learning and general
data analysis. R is licensed under the GNU General Public License, with copyright
held by The R Foundation for Statistical Computing.
The source code of R is written in R, C and Fortran. R is free, open source and
cross platform with a large community of users. Even though R programming is
challenging, the CRAN packages reduce the number of lines coding, with a help
command giving explanation and examples of use. R also gained popularity for its
fancy visualizations.

other is subjective and depends on the user s preference and personal experience.
Python is a great solution if the user wants to learn a powerful programming
language for not only machine learning and statistics. Besides, if the user is already
familiar with python or with a similar programming language, Python seems a
natural choice. Python is more flexible and gives the freedom of development. R on
the other hand, is more suitable if the user is specifically interested in statistical
computations and visualizations. For non programmers, R can be very exciting; the
user can easily do data explorations and create some amazing plots with little effort.
Many tutorials and books are available for beginners, and the community is always
welcoming new R users. Still, mastering R programming language demands a lot of

Sin In The Minister s Black Veil By Nathaniel Hawthorne
In The Minister s Black Veil by Nathaniel Hawthorne, Mr. Hooper is hiding a sin.
Others may think that he wasn t hiding a sin, however in this essay we can come to
the conclusion that Mr. Hooper did commit a sin. The reader can understand that he
sinned because of the theme his sermon was about when he first had on the black
veil. Also We can understand what the sinwas and to whom it was committed towards.
Firstly, the reader can understand that Mr Hooper was hiding a sin from the world
that he has committed. The reason why Mr Hooper has a secret sin is because he
opens his most significant sermon by discussing secret sins which makes the
congregation speculate as to what his sin might be , as said in article 1. The fact that

They were unloading the groceries out of the vehicle and when Griffin was on his

After the first murder, Chase went through a phase of being an intruder. His theory
was if someone s house was unlocked then it was their way of saying he was

My Personal Experience In My Life
All throughout my life I was just an average kid who did average normal activities.
I was never very sociable or outgoing, but I still had a close group of friends. I wasn
t very confident in myself nor was I very disciplined. My life basically centered
around video games with friends and sports. I participated multiple sports such as
cross country, nordic skiing, baseball, and track. As I grew older I naturally became
more confident, disciplined, and outspoken but not as much as I would ve like to
have been. In junior high, I looked up to the varsityrunners on the cross country
team. It was a goal of mine to be on that team and to do well, I never thought it
would actually happen. In my senior year it did, and we were great. We had a great
season and even made it to state, but doing well wasn t the most important
acquisition of the year. In my final season I became the hardworking, confident,
disciplined, and outspoken person I am today. This is due mainly to the team
atmosphere, the coaches, and daily practice. The cross country team has always felt
like a family. Specific events were held just so athletes would feel included. One of
these events was called the weekendgetaway. During the weekend getaway all the
athletes would get on a bus and head to Sibley State Park camping grounds where
we would enjoy a weekend of running and activities. Board games, canoeing, and
swimming would take up most of the day. The team captains would work especially

Greek Architecture Is The Art Of Architecture
Architecture is the art of designing and constructing buildings and other physical
structures. Architecture is as old as human history because it is the basic need of a
human being. Architecture symbolizes the history, culture, traditions, technology and
climate of the nation. In primitive ages man was used to live in caves but with the
passage of time trends changed. As necessity is the mother of invention humanbeings
started to make houses made up of stones to protect themselves from extreme climatic
conditions and also from wild animals. New innovations and new trends prevailed
and human beings started to make houses with bricks made up of mud, then they

The Psydiscipline Of The Sapir-Whorf Exphesis
In linguistics, one of the most important and most controversial, so to speak is the
Sapir Whorf hypothesis. This blog post is going to focus on this hypothesis.
Language is not thought
Before anything else, we need to establish one thing: language is not thought, just as
well that heaven is not hell. One might say that he is thinking using words and
sentences, but this is not the case.
I, for one, had always believed that I think using words. But this article from
Science 2.0 let me know that thoughts are not words and vice versa. Also, we
watched a video clip in class wherein Steven Pinker, a Harvard professor, explained
that language is different from thought, writing and grammar.

However language and thought are connected. We have a subdiscipline for that,
called psycholinguistics. This subdiscipline is concerned with the relation of
cognition and language.
We are yet to discuss this topic so forgive me for my lack of knowledge.
The Sapir Whorf hypothesis
We may have said that cognition is not the same as language, but according to
Edward Sapir and Benjamin Lee Whorf, language affects a person s thoughts. To
make it formal, the definition given by dictionary.com might be useful:
[The Sapir Whorf theory is] a theory developed by Edward Sapir and Benjamin Lee
Whorf that states that the structure of a language determines or greatly influences the
modes of thought and behavior characteristic of the culture in which it is spoken.
Linguistic relativism
This is the weaker form of the hypothesis and states that different languages encode
different categories. Therefore, speakers of different languages view the world in
different ways. I see that I need to provide concrete examples of this, and so I have
decided to includ evidences for linguistic relativism cited in Introduction to linguistics

A Study On The Respiratory Exchange Essay
Abstract
The characteristics of the phylum, Arthropoda, includes jointed legs and an
exoskeleton (Freeman, 2014). The insect the team and I chose to work on were the
hissing cockroaches, Gromphadorhina portentosa. Hissing cockroaches are small
ectothermic animals and are known to have a tracheal system (Burnaford) that allows
them to transfer oxygen into their body. Introduction
The organism used in the experiment is a hissing cockroach and the main reason
was that cockroaches are arthropods that have a trachea in which is almost similar to
humans. Although humans have a trachea which is more of a wind pipe structure
whereas insects have a tracheae in which is more of a network of air tubes (Bartrim,
2014). The tracheal system has the capacity to transport oxygen and carbon dioxide
(Heinrich, 2013) in which the series of branched tubes help deliver oxygen from the
environment to the cells (Burnaford, 2016). The respiratory exchange is regulated by
the spiracles and this creates three phases of gas exchange (Bartrim, 2014);
continuous, cyclic, and discontinuous. The most distinct phase is the discontinuous
gas exchange cycle (DGC) because it s the phase that insects must deal with
(Heinrich, 2014). The DGC has its own three phases; closed phase, open phase, and
the flutter phase (Heinrich, 2014).
The hypothesis we had was that the mass of the insect correlates towards respiration.
The more mass it has the higher respiration. The dependent variable is the mass of the

by utilizing humour and sarcasm to mock advertisements. The article makes
outrageous claims such as, if the frequency of one s foot is out of alignment with

Strong And Weak Identifiers
According to the author, national identity is inherently social and is centered on
people s strong bond and sense of community with their fellow group members.
People are placed into national groups either by choice or by default. The strength of
the person s membership depends on the level of commitment they feel towards the
national group. The level of commitment divides group members into strong and
weak identifiers. Group members of a national group that care about the group s well
being are considered strong identifiers. These members are strongly committed and
often see their national group membership as part of their sense of self. Strong
identifiers hold and follow group norms so they can be the best prototype for their
national identity.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Strong identifiers are treated more fairly when they are seen as the prototype of the
group. Their opinions about their group are highly valued and taken into
consideration between all of the members. Because of their high commitment to their
group, strong identifiers remain loyal though hard times and times of doubt. They
want to protect the group s image by focusing on the positive aspects. When faced
with negative information about their group, these members will defend their group s
actions and criticisms in order to protect the group image.
Group members do not tolerate weak identifier s criticisms. Their criticisms of their
group are often not listened to and disregarded by members who have stronger
commitments. This could be because weak identifiers do not share the same level of
loyalty as strong identifiers. Weak identifiers care less about the groups image and
do not feel a strong need to defend the group.
I consider myself a strong identifier in being an American. I would say that I fit the
typical stereotype of an American. I support the choices Americans make and remain
loyal even through the bad decisions. When natural disasters or unexpected tragedies
happen in America, I feel instant empathy towards everyone that was effected, even
if I have never met them. I see every American and myself as one big community.
Being an American has always been a part of my identity and I couldn t

Introduction:
A win is a win no matter what. However, it is how it is achieved that makes the
difference. When it comes to sports, it is either hard working, making use of a
special talent or a brilliant tactic that can win you a game, but is it really ethical for
a win to be achieved with the aid of steroids? The article Is Doping Wrong?
published in August 2007 by the Australian professor in ethics and the current Ira
W. DeCamp of Bioethics at Princeton University, Peter Singer, discusses the
debatable aspect of whether the use of drugs by professional athletes should be
permitted or not. Despite his illogical arguments and fallacies at some points,
Singer was able to portray his ideas in a coherent and organized way. Therefore, I

Singer should not have used the EPO example in making the Tour de France a fair
competition, as a general solution to bringing fairness to all sports. Furthermore, he
could have evaded falling into another fallacy, which is the Dicto Simpliciter, by
including some exceptions in his reasoning. For example, when he mentioned that by

having the best genes, he must have included some exceptions that prevent this from

Genre Analysis Of Mabel

moments where unsettling music is played for a significant period of time, around

Communication Is Important For All Aspects Of Human...
The way we see things is affected by what we know or what we believe. (Berger,
8.) I have a six year old sister and three year old brother. The distance between us
while I am away at school was daunting to understand at first, since I am accustomed
to seeing them every day. By using computer mediated communicationI am able to
see the little things that you miss while being away. (Like the rainbow fish
construction my sister did after school, or my brother s new Power Rangers move he
s been perfecting.) Communication is something that is necessary for all aspects of
human interaction, however what happens when you are forced to use different
means of communication to represent what you are trying to say? To be discussed in
this essay is: CMC, verbal, and nonverbal communicationand their relation to how we
make decisions when we are exposed to new types of language. Consequently, one
can observe how those decisions are based on a lack of language which directly
affects communication. A modern type of language that is predominant in modern
society is computer mediated communication. Which implements the use of
abbreviations, emoticons, and devices which take the physical boundaries of
communication away and allow participants to communicate through said devices.

you do was rate yourself on the Fletchers pendulum this is a really strange process for
me to do I have never done this before and it took me awhile to even understand
that idea. The basic idea on the Fletchers pendulum is to create A discreet a
pendulum and Mark five points on it on the bottom you put negative factors the
middle you put bass factors and then on top of a positive result learning to use this
chart or pendulum was very strange. I can see this as being one of the points that
would be very useful in a business situation. Being able to wait yourself on a chart
like this and see where you re at and where you could be at and even where your
business is that and where it should be at would be very valuable in being self

Rhetorical Analysis Of Jim Valvano s Speech
Jim Valvano, a college basketball player at Rutgers University, broadcaster for the
NCAA, father, and prolific college basketball coach for North Carolina State
University, was presented with the Arthur Ashe Courage and Humanitarian Award at
the ESPY Awards on March 3, 1993. Valvano was fighting metastatic
adenocarcinoma, a cancer of the bones, at the time and was not expected to live
much longer. Because Valvano s time was fading, sports fans from around the world
were anticipating a powerful speech that they would remember and cherish for the
rest of their lives. In his speech, Valvano is able to emotionally connect to his
audience with the use of humor, enthusiasm, and urgency to encourage the audience
to donate to The V Foundation for Cancer Research.... Show more content on

According to Valvano, if you do that seven days a week, you re going to have
something special. These words coming from a man aching with pain as he stands
on a stage waiting for cancer to take his life speak high volumes. He could have
easily avoided the disease and taken his chances of a miracle to cure, but that was not
how Jim Valvanowas raised; he would accept the challenge and fight cancer until
the end. Jim Valvano was the son of Rocco and Angelina Valvano raised within the
household of deep Italian roots. As a result, Jim was an extremely passionate and
loving man. As he said in his speech, it come with the territory. If it was not for
these vital traits, Valvano would not have been able to deliver his speech with his
specific message as successfully as he
Three Modes Of Objectification In Foucault
Michel Foucault was a French thinker, philosopher and postmodernist. He has been
hugely influential in shaping understandings of power. He talked about how the
power and knowledge are used as a form of social control through societal institutions
and also the relationship between them (Michael Power,
Annual Review of Sociology, Vol. 37, (2011), pp. 35 56, Published by: Annual
Reviews).
In the book The Foucault Reader: An Introduction to Foucault s Thought,
Edited by Paul Rabinow, 1984 , he claims that his goal is not to analyze the
phenomenon of power but to create a history of different models through which
human beings have become subjects (Michel Foucault, Nietzsche,

Objectification of subject:
Subject refers to the active individual or social group with consciousness or will
while object refers to that on which the subject s cognitive or other activity
observes[1]. Objectification of subject means treating a person (subject) as a thing
(object) without any regard to their dignity. According to
Foucault(1983), there are three modes of objectification:
1. Dividing Practices: Dividing practices is the systematic social or cultural
categorisation of different classes thus objectifying the subject either by a process
of division with others or even within himself tending to give the subject two
different identities i.e social and personal. This mode is mainly about objectificaton
of individuals drawn first from a rather undifferetiated mass and later from more
highly preselected populations. Dividing practices are maily the techniques of
domination applied to the working class, vegabond population. Examples he gave
from society are the isolation of lepers during middle ages; the confinement of the
poor, insane and vegabonds in the great catch all Hospital in Paris in 1656 (Michel

The Giver Consequences
The Giver is about a boy named Jonas who lives in a small community. He is also
confused about what is going on in his community. For every action there is a
consequence. Jonas experiences develop a theme over the course of The Giver by
teaching the reader about doing things that lead to consequences. Although some
readers may believe that every good or bad decision you do there is a consequence.
If you do, good or bad actions there is a consequence to them. In the story, it says
you will never be starving now he was.If he had stayed in the community he would
have had food. ( 172 ). This supports my answer because its teaching Jonas a lesson
about escaping from the community . I the text it says ... he had made the wrong one

Essay on Perfect Body Image Has Changed Throughout
History
How many of you have looked at an image of a model, and have mentally
questioned why you don t look just as good? Im pretty sure many of you sitting here
have done so.
You realise that you feel very self conscious about your overall body image. Body
image is defined as the way the person perceives themselves , physically and
mentally. Our perception on beauty has been altered disturbingly, ever since media
has played a role in society. When we look at celebrities, we generally idealise them ,
without processing the fact that they ve been photoshopped, plastered in tons of
makeup , used lighting and photographers and most obvious, had previous cosmetic
surgeries. We re completely oblivious to the fact that it is unattainable to be that ...

Teenagers and children are a target, as they re very easily utilised. They easily get
teenager and children to buy their products, and by doing so they use advertisements
as their idea. They are well aware that if they state in their products that it will
improve their appearance, teenagers are more likely to purchase it.
It is proven that models nowadays weigh 23% less than the average woman.Girls
believe that to have the ideal body, you need to be toned and slim, wheres for guys
being muscular is the definition of perfection. The problem starts to become much
severe , when it ultimately leads to serious habits such as eating disorders like
anorexia, bulimia and in most cases, suicidal attempts.
Many young teenagers have developed eating disorders, as they sadly use unhealthy
habits to manage their weight and that is through skipping meals, fasting, self
induced vomiting, and not to forget excessive exercise. People with anorexia tend
to be very skinny, and as when they look into the mirror, they literally see excess
body fat. Their minds have tricked them into believing they need to lose more weight
to be able to look fit.
Were all preoccupied with our bodies , and dissatisfied with our looks, that most of
us are willing to try anything in order to obtain that perfect figure. The standards that
are set are unbelievably high, as they re unrealistic for what the normal body figure
should be.
Analysis Of Harrah Entertainment, Inc.
Introduction Harrah Entertainment, Inc. is a multifaceted business with large scope
of services. They compete in 23 locations to be viewed as best service driven and
customer driven organization for their hotel accommodations, gambling experience,
entertainment offerings, food and beverage options and quality. In many locations,
competition is steep causing tight markets and desire to win an edge. Other
competitors focus on outshining and glamorizing their amenities to attract and
captivate the market (Delong Vijayaraghavan, 2003). Harrah s approach is much
different; they focus on marketing based attraction and consider their bread and
butter to be in guest services and consumer satisfaction. Harrah s model has
historically relied heavily on its people to accomplish their goals of gaining market
share, increase operating profits and revenue through creating memorable experiences
for happy, hungry and tired guests (Delong Vijayaraghavan, 2003). The senior
leadership within Harrah Entertainment, Inc. feel compelled to, and recognizes the
need to look inward at its staff to better equip and motivate them with a meaningful
compensation strategy to support and achieve their overarching goals. The method
currently in place is a customer satisfaction driven gainsharing bonus plan (Delong
Vijayaraghavan, 2003). The question at hand, are they dealing the right deck of cards
to their employees to continue to meet and exceed the goals? In this paper, key
players within
Greek Women In Euripides s The Trojan Women
Euripides s tragedy play The Trojan Women took place in the now destroyed and
mutilated city of Troy, after the mythological Trojan War and the historical
Peloponnesian War. This play was the last of a trilogy that Euripides wrote
concerning the events of the leading up to Trojan War, the war itself, and the
aftermath . The two leading Greek city states at the time, Athens and Sparta, are
the ones who are involved in the almost three decades of conflict, leaving the
Greek sphere in pieces and cities destroyed and Athens was left bankrupt, exhausted
of all resources, and demoralized from losing much of everything . The main causes
of this war began with the Spartans fear of Athens growing power and prosperity to
build bigger and better naval ships, and the construction of massive buildings and the
construction of the Long Wall that outlined their territories . The Trojan Women
focused on the captured women of Athens s point of view of the aftermath of the
war and how they portrayed the Spartan soldiers as barbarians instead of heroic
beings like they are in The Odysseyor The Iliad. Throughout Euripides s The Trojan
Women, he came across a circumstance that occurred in order to make his main
points in the play about the horrors of war, Greek s relationships with the Greek
Gods, and the role of women in Greek society. The circumstance that Euripides
encountered was the ability to combine multiple literary works and format some of
the characters, events, and topics into

Propane Exports Case Study A July 5th Wall Street Journal article touts the increasing success and the upsurge of shale exports by the United States resulting in record volume of propane exports. The boom in exports has been aided by many factors such as; demand, lower shipping cost, expansion and increased supply. What impact is the shale boom having on U.S. propane exports? During the drilling of shale, oil producers have been provided an overwhelming supply of propane that at one point they had to pay customers to take off their hands. However, driven by a rise in foreign sales, the U.S. is exporting a record volume of propane. The shale boom, which hit an all time high of 884,000 barrels a day in February, has made the United States a more dominant force in the global energy trade. In 2013, the U.S. overtook Qatar as the world s top propane shipper (Dezember, 2016). Foreign markets are the major driving forces responsible for the increasing demand. About half of all U.S. exports wind up in Latin America, while the rest of US exports are shipping to northwest Europe and Asian markets. • 5. An Analysis Of Dionysus By Euripides Unconscious Desire Unconscious Desire and Fear: Is an Innate Force of Nature. Euripides uses metamorphism in a way that may have been, somewhat, disparaging to Greek, particularly male, audiences. Although, the play portrays so many of Dionysus godly attributes such as long flowing locks, extreme attractiveness, and the power to drive one mad, Euripides makes no mistake to characterize the human qualities of Dionysus being deliberate, plotting, angry, and vengeful. While all Greek gods seem to have the aforementioned duality, Dionysus dualism appears to have a twofold motive; that is to avenge his mother s reputation as well as reclaim his position as a God. As Dionysus does so, he can be read as an aphorism to embrace the human desire for divine experiences, which normally manifest as an unconscious desire and fear within a human which is an innate force of nature. As the play opens, Dionysus reasoning for retuning to Thebes, is exemplified by the fact that he is there to avenge his mother s reputation because his mother s sisters... gossiped that this Dionysus was no child of Zeus (32 34). The chorus then goes on to tell the back story of Dionysus and how quicker than death / Zeus swept him up, after his mother s unfortunate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The banter goes on shortly displaying both Pantheus cynicism and intrigue in Dionysian ritual and the benefits of such. As Pentheus continues to embark on the punishments he plans to perform on Dionysus, he also attempts to provoke the god to materialize before him in which Dionysus replies, Where I am. Your lack of faith has blurred your vision (601). Dionysus continues to explain that by doing harm to him he also blasphemes the god. Pantheus, enraged, orders him locked in the stables. Ironically, Pantheus does not fulfil, at this point, any of the threats he has made to the stranger and what follows is a boastful regale between the chorus, divine beings, and
  • 6. Meaning of Ahimsa Essay Meaning of Ahimsa Ahimsa is a Sanskrit term that translates roughly into non injury to living beings or dynamic harmlessness. Ahimsa tends to evoke images of monks wearing cloths over their faces to avoid breathing microscopic beings and sweeping the insects off the path in front of them as they walk so they won t accidentally crush one under their feet. One cannot easily live in today s world without causing some harm to other beings but that does not mean we shouldn t try to keep it to a minimum. There are some relatively easy steps you can take to reduce the suffering in your wake. Practice of Ahimsa develops love. Ahimsa is another name for truth or love.... Just as all footprints are accommodated in those of the elephant, so also do all religious rules become merged in the great vow of Ahimsa. Ahimsa is soul force. Hate melts in the presence of love. Hate dissolves in the presence of Ahimsa. There is no power greater than Ahimsa. The practice of Ahimsa develops will power to a considerable degree. The practice of Ahimsa will make you fearless. He, who practices Ahimsa with real faith, can move the whole world, can tame wild animals and can win the hearts of all his enemies. He can do and undo things. The power of Ahimsa is infinitely more wonderful and subtler than electricity or magnetism. The law of Ahimsa is as much exact and precise as the law of gravitation. You must know the correct way to apply it intelligently and with scientific accuracy. If you are able to apply it with precision, you can work wonders. You can command the elements and Nature as well. Forms of Ahimsa Only the ordinary people think that Ahimsa is not to hurt any living being physically. The vow of Ahimsa is broken even by showing contempt towards another man, by entertaining unreasonable dislike for or prejudice towards anybody, by frowning at another man, by hating another man, by abusing another man, by speaking ill of others, by

I chose this song because it talks about having a battle with yourself and not telling anyone about it. It s about having dilemmas of whether to tell people about whatever you re having trouble with or to just not tell anybody and keep it to yourself. A quotation from the song that explains this is: And I ve been a fool and I ve been blind I can never leave the past behind I can see no way, I can see no way I m always dragging that horse around. This song also describes great misunderstandings and how the singer doesn t understand what exactly she s done or what she s going to do. With the introduction of Obamacare, Planned Parenthood has become a secondary cost to ensure women have health care throughout the United States. Along with the wasted money being spent on Planned Parenthood, other issues have been revealed about Planned Parenthood. The high cost of administration and the sale of fetus tissue and organs have become the latest in an agency out of control. Because of the wasteful administration of funds and ethical questions about disposing of fetuses, Planned Parenthood should no longer be funded by the Federal government. The tax paying citizens of the United States should know the cost and wasteful spending Planned Parenthood is conducted within the agency. With the knowledge acquired, the citizens will be able to make a fully informed decision when asking their congressman to vote against funding of Planned Parenthood. American Birth Control League s name was changed to Planned Parenthood, which enabled the organization to encompass a new image and justify funding from the government and wealthy donors (Perry 1). The agency has influenced the birth control of the poor and the upper class citizens of society. • 12. Comparative Textual Analysis of Two Articles The key to being able to differentiate one newspaper from another is often, if not always, the way the latter presents its news, both aesthetically and stylistically. These aspects have gradually divided newspapers into two distinct categories: broadsheets and tabloids. The former being a more neutral and respected type and the latter a newspaper for more or less entertainment purposes only. This can be well observed in two specific articles that both report on political campaigns. Another basic aspect that differentiates this newspaper article from the Ugandan one is, first of all, that it is not as recent (seeing as the latter was published in 2010 and the former in 1972) and seems to be a bit more serious and longer in length. Nonetheless, this article, entitled „GOP security aide among 5 arrested in bugging affair still has some emotive and vague language: „We deplore action of this kind in or our of politics and „the mystery deepens , along with a few euphemisms such as „the bugging incident . From this one will be able to conclude that even this article is not completely un biased. In fact, it is, additionally, rather informal. This is especially obvious when the journalists decide to use GOP, a nickname for the Republican Party and an abbreviation of „Grand Old Party , instead of its official name. Finally, the short paragraphs that make the article a whole are crowded with various quotes, and even mention the rather irrelevant age of a certain CIA employee James W. McCord. The Grotesque Pursue Of Goodness Elena Quesada Pereda Professor Marcos Norris ENGL 290 5 May 2016 The Grotesque Pursue of Goodness in A Good Man is Hard to Find by Flannery O Connor The great advantage of being a Southern writer is that we don t have to go anywhere to look for manners; bad or good, we ve got them in abundance. We in the South live in a society that is rich in contradiction, rich in irony, rich in contrast, and particularly rich in its speech (Flannery O Connor). Mary Flannery O Connor was born in 1925 in a Catholic family in the south of the United States, particularly in Savannah (Georgia). Her Catholic inheritance influenced her writing, in such a way that the characters of her stories, which are physically and morally perverted, walk towards a theological revelation that release them from that moral and physical decadence specially those of the story that is analyzed in this paper, A Good Man is Hard to Find, where the main characters only discover their goodness when they face death . But far from going into existentialist digressions, her short stories are depictions of the daily life, where the reader can learn something to apply in his life. Sometimes the stories are inspired in the coarse reading of a newspaper, sometimes they seem to be a hopscotch drawn by a boy, who in his simplicity, hides the concerns of a society that is decadent and lacking in values, according to O Connor, as stated in the initial quote. Flannery O Connor was stuck to the past, shy and for most part
  • 21. Aesthetic Judgement And Aesthetic Judgment Anyone who is familiar with the science of evolution in human beings and its philosophical context in history and modern society can appropriately associate that idea with variety amongst individuals. Undeniably, there is a persistent growth in the variety of people who identify in a myriad of groups. Interestingly enough, if anyone were to take a step back and observe the variety of individuals around them, he or she would participate in abstract notion of aesthetic judgment or an analysis of what the individual deems to be beautiful based off of differing factors, though initially based off of physical attributes. On a psychological level, this aesthetic viewpoint is a reflection of the relative perspective of people and circumstances in which they consider what is attractive or repulsive , and apply how it is universally understood beauty attracts while ugliness repels. Aesthetic judgment can be utilized as a mechanism to enhance survival and reproduction within a species. Thus, this overall notion of aesthetic judgment can be associated to the emerging theory of evolutionand everything it encompasses. With this groundbreaking discovery, a variety of historically great modern thinkers (philosophers) managed to incorporate this scientific theory into their understanding of the world around them. Ultimately, while their perspectives may vary, these philosophers fundamentally acknowledge that this evolutionary change is ever present and influentially active in
  • 22. William Shakespeare s Twelfth Night And Sheridan s The... The theme of love is central to the attitudes in both Shakespeare s Twelfth Night and Sheridan s The Rivals . Both playwrights highlight the different kinds of love and portray these through each character s experience with the emotion. In both plays, the complexity of love is embodied by deception which demonstrates how easily our feelings can be manipulated, which is also conveyed through comedy. Shakespeare mocks the main character s idea s of loveby showing how the devotion that connects siblings and servants to masters prove more constant than any of the romantic bonds amongst the other characters. Throughout this piece I am going to discuss not only the techniques that are used to present the theme of love, but also how both... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This not only alerts us to Orsino s disturbing ideas about love, but also shows us how erotic desire is linked to violence and self indulgence. Orsino is more concerned with himself as a lover than with the object of his love, suggesting he is a narcissist; implying that with false love comes self love. There is no woman s sides Can bide the beating of so strong a passion This declarative implies there is no woman strong enough to to withhold the intense passion felt by Orsino. The harsh alliterative plosives used in the violent metaphor bide the beating portray an almost misogynistic attitude again conveying that his ability to love is more important to him than being in love. In the opening scene, he imagines himself as the king of Olivia s mind and heart which suggests a marital hierarchy rather than mutuality. This suggests that Orsino s perceptions of love are superficial, and again enforces a misogynistic attitude. Similarly, in The Rivals , the character Lydia Languish is a creature of romantic sensibility. The alveolal laterals in her name create an alluring sound hinting at her desire for romance. One of the prominent themes in the play is that of the 18th century opposition between courtship s means and objective: falling in love and marriage. Lydia s guardian Mrs Malaprop wishes for Lydia to have an arranged marriage; to gain

The Collapse Of Communism During The Soviet Union Thea Vandyke B00570936 Peter Arthur Robert Finbow November 30, 2014 POLI 2300 A Failure to Adapt: Why Communism Survived in China and failed In the USSR The eventual demise of Communism in the USSR was a direct consequence of the Soviet Union s failure to adapt to the changes occurring in the world during the 1920 s to the 1940 s. Unlike Communist China, the USSR failed to place economic growth ahead of political reform. In this regard, Russia was unsuccessful in establishing a national identity and in instituting a stable government through popular consent of its people. Moreover, Communist Russia failed to create a national identity, ignoring the multitude of ethnic minorities existing in the USSR. Arguably, the future stability of the two previously conventional Communist countries, will reflect their ability to develop a market economy, establish a stable government, and be recognized and involved on a global scale. As indicated, the Soviet Union failed to place economic reform ahead of political change, which ultimately resulted in the failure of communism in Russia. In the face of a global market economy and Western Capitalism, the USSR demonstrated ambivalence about joining the international order. Traditional communist ideology was to provide for every individual an equal amount of goods and services, thus creating a state of equality amongst the populous (Leveler, 16). Within the USSR, several individuals felt as if their current hardships could be blamed on

The insect the team and I chose to work on were the hissing cockroaches, Gromphadorhina portentosa. Hissing cockroaches are small ectothermic animals and are known to have a tracheal system (Burnaford) that allows them to transfer oxygen into their body. Introduction The organism used in the experiment is a hissing cockroach and the main reason was that cockroaches are arthropods that have a trachea in which is almost similar to humans. Although humans have a trachea which is more of a wind pipe structure whereas insects have a tracheae in which is more of a network of air tubes (Bartrim, 2014). The tracheal system has the capacity to transport oxygen and carbon dioxide (Heinrich, 2013) in which the series of branched tubes help deliver oxygen from the environment to the cells (Burnaford, 2016). The respiratory exchange is regulated by the spiracles and this creates three phases of gas exchange (Bartrim, 2014); continuous, cyclic, and discontinuous. The most distinct phase is the discontinuous gas exchange cycle (DGC) because it s the phase that insects must deal with (Heinrich, 2014). The DGC has its own three phases; closed phase, open phase, and the flutter phase (Heinrich, 2014). The hypothesis we had was that the mass of the insect correlates towards respiration.
