Hospital Information Security
A hospitals HIM director needs to understand how to maintain the integrity and security of all
financial and clinical data as it travels seamlessly across a network of different applications. For this
to happen, the applications must first go through a hardwired translation process to ensure proper
communication between the various software systems; this is called integration. However, none of
this is possible without interfaces which connect the multitude of hardware devices and software
applications that are used throughout the different departments in a hospital system. Information
security is another major concern the director of HIM has to account for during the system
selection process. Confidentiality and privacy of personal health... Show more content on

During the system selection process, the HIM director should choose a vendor that offers full
interoperability. The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) defines
interoperability as ensuring that health related information flows seamlessly. Information needs to
follow the patient regardless of geographic, organizational, or vendor boundaries. Interoperability
refers to the architecture or standards that make it possible for diverse EHR systems to work
compatibly (American Health Information Management Association, 2013). The system should
include standard functional interface capabilities to ensure data integrity, and privacy is kept
between different departmental and care setting information systems. For example, can the
proposed vendor support the transmission of data to and from various department information
systems? Accurate lab results need to be populated into the patients health record, and pharmacy
orders are sent to the automated drug dispensing machines and show up on patient s medication
profile so that nurses can administer the right drug at the appropriate dosage and then document

The Best Days Of My Life
I have lived in Columbia for all my life. I have lived in two different houses in a matter of
fourteen years. There are some days that I want to forget because I hated what I did that day,
also, there are some days in Columbia that I will never forget. For example, the day I moved was
one of the best days of my life because now I don t need to share a room with my brother. Also,
seeing all the stuff we have had in his garage that we have had for 14 years. When I was looking
at all those stuff it reminded me how special our old house was. One of my personal favorites
was when I was in 5th grade. At my school we had something called Safety patrol, and that is
where we come before and after school to tell the K 4 to stop running and to walk to the
playground or the bus. Usually, after school, I would go to my aunt s work and it would be the
best time. I got to see all the different things she does. She gets to see people at the hospital,
which I got to do 1 time and the patient was the nicest in the world. She gave me 10 dollars to
buy food of my choice and I got a cheeseburger and fries for lunch. Since my aunt and my mom
work at the hospital usually after about 20 minutes I would go over to my mom s office and go
and finish my homework. Then I and my mom would go home. this really reflected on my life
because after going home I learned that even though people are not as safe as other people we
can still help them in certain ways. Moving is also one of my favorite things, but the main
reason is changing schools. I changed from Lange to Gentry. When I first heard we were
moving I was so mad because at Lange I had so many. Friends that I never wanted to forget but I
only knew about 3 5 people at gentry so it was scary for me. The first week of school I had to go
to my friend Charlie s house because at the time we had not moved to into our new house.
During school, it was a shock to me because at the time I did not know that Gentry and Lange
look the same so, during the first day, I knew every single room from up to down. When I got
my schedule for the first time I did not have everything I did at Lange. On my original schedule, I
did not have band or AVID on there so I had to go to the office and get

Journey Of The Hero Journey
The journey of the hero is about the courage to seek the depths; the image of creative rebirth; the
eternal cycle of change within us; the uncanny discovery that the seeker is the mystery which
the seeker seeks to know. The hero journey is a symbol that binds, in the original sense of the
word, two distant ideas, and the spiritual quest of the ancients with the modern search for
identity always the one, shape shifting yet marvelously constant story that we find. This journey
will go with Duk thul/Dirty skin. At the beginning Duk thul was lazy and dirty person. He did
not do anything everyone called him Duk thul/dirty skin because he would just sleep all day and
he was dirty. No one knew that he was doing at night when everyone fell asleep. The first stage
of the cycle is The Orphan . Orphan may feel like an orphan; alone, unloved, or confused. In Duk
thul/Dirty Skin; there are 4 brothers who were the sons of the village. One day, one of the
brothers, for reasons no one knows, decided he wanted to be different than his brothers. He
could not be like them anymore . One day, this brother, dragging his blanket behind him, went to
the fire and lay down in the dirt next to the fire, covered himself up with his blanket, and went to
sleep; right in the middle of the day while everyone else was working. No one understood, why he
was doing what he did. This next phase has the orphan looking for the answers to their big
questions, but they don t know where the answers are at.

The Drug Approval Of The Disease Essay
There are over 7,000 rare diseases affecting between 25 and 30 million Americans (Global Genes
2016). A disease or disorder is defined as rare in the U.S when it affects fewer than 200,000
Americans at any given time (Eurordis 2016). Some of these rare diseases come with even more
rare and controversial decisions. The FDA just made its most controversial drug approval of the
year (Fortune 2016). This injectable drug is called eteplirsen by Sarepta Therapeutics and it is an
exon skipping drug targeting a section of genetic code called exon 51 in the dystrophin gene.
Exon skipping is a type of strategy that is being developed for the rare disease DMD (Duchenne
Muscular Dystrophy). The exon skipping process skips sections of genetic codes during protein
manufacturing, allowing cells to create shortened but partially functional dystrophin protein
which is the muscle protein that is missing in DMD. This rare X linked disease was first
described in the 1850 s by French neurologists Guillaume Duchenne but was not known to inhibit
the production of protein dystrophin and result in the loss of motor functions and muscular
degeneration until the 1980 s (MDA 2016). 1 in 3600 6000 live male births has resulted in DMD
(Bushby 2010). Most patients are diagnosed around 5 years of age when their physical abilities are
no longer similar to their peers (Bushby 2010). If left untreated, signs of deterioration in muscle
strength increase, the chance of using a wheelchair before their teens

The Bible And Aeneas s Life
As a follower of their respective God or gods, both Job in the Bible and Aeneas in the Aeneid
suffer while doing their duties, yet they stay faithful and persistent to their obligations, despite
constant suffering. While Job s suffering tests his faith in God, Aeneas suffering differs as his
pietas, or duty is tested. Job and Aeneasdo not know the fate set forth by the gods, yet after enduring
a great amount of sufferingthey reach relief and the knowledge of their fate. An important
difference is that Job s fate is the compensation for what he had lost and reinforcement of his faith
in God, while Aeneas s fate is a loss of pietas.
Job, blameless and upright , is described as a man who follows God and turns away from evil
showing that he tenaciously fulfils his duties to God and makes it a priority that he lives by
(Job 1.1). He is challenged in a bet between God and Satan that he will only be faithful to God
when everything is going well for him; God chooses to test Satan s theory (Job. 1.8 12). Job
endures great suffering, but what makes him a pious man is that ultimately he shows the depth
of his faith in God, despite the harsh suffering he endures. A paragon of his faithfulness to God
is shown when he is given four sets of bad news: his oxen, donkeys, sheep, camels, servants and
all 10 of his children were killed or stolen (Job 1.15 19). After hearing the news, Job fell on the
ground and worshipped , saying that he came from [his] mother s womb

The Reflection Of The Observation Of Vertical Jumping
Vertical Jumping
Volleyball, basketball, high jump, hurdling, long jump, and pole vaulting all have a certain motor
skill in common and that motor skill is jumping. Jumping is a gross motor skill which coordinates
movements which requires the use of the large muscles in the arms, legs, torso, and feet.
Furthermore, jumping requires strength, balance, coordination, body awareness, and motor
planning. Our lower extremity contains multiple muscles in order for a person to jump. Many of
the muscles in the lower extremity cross more than one joint. The basic muscles that are used
during jumping are the rectus femoris, gastrocnemius, semimembranosus, semitendinosus, and the
long head of biceps femoris. The semimembranosus, semitendinosus, and the long head of the
biceps femoris are muscles that make up the hamstrings. Our task was to observe and report a
certain motor skill and behavior in different stages of learning. Our group observed Toddlers
/Preschool, Grade School, Jr. High, High School, and College students jumping in a non structure
play (like recess), structure (like PE class or sport practice), and a competitive environment.
Toddler/Preschool
Toddlers and Preschoolers love to jump and they ll attempt to do it whenever and wherever as much
as possible. They seem to have a fascination with jumping off the ground and momentarily floating
in the air. Jumping is a required movement in most children s games, sports, and activities. Children

Popular Mechanics Raymond Carver
The short story Popular Mechanics , a short story by Raymond Carver tells the story of a
husband and a wife fighting for their child. A reader can also find that the story has symbolism in
two major ways. The first example of symbolism exists within the child. The child represents the
downfall of love. The second example of symbolism can be acquainted to the stages of grief. The
reader having these views greatly alters their perception of the story.
When observing the text the reader can come up with a simple summary. Two parents fight over a
child. In the event of the fight the child is put between the parents. Meaning the two parents now
physically fight over the baby by tugging on it. The baby appears to be symbolic of a link between

Raymond Carver actually takes the reader through the 5 stages of grief within the short story.. When
the reader first starts reading the story they will notice the woman telling the man I m glad you
re leaving! I m glad you re leaving! . She tells a possible white lie, meaning she actually needs
him, whilst in denial of this fact. When crying she expresses anger towards the man, swearing at
him and mocking him. These emotions are mostly linked with anger. Once this finishes bargaining
begins. She tries to bargain with the husband over the baby s future home, whether it be hers, or
his. This doesn t work. Depression plays a major role within the text, as the entire tone can be
considered depressing. With a dark and gloomy setting, and a family filled of sadness and hate
towards each other. The final stage of the story and grief is acceptance. In the events that occur
acceptance eventually arrives. Though involuntary, acceptance occurs in the end. In this manner,
the issue was decided , when the reader analyse the text given here the reader finds that indeed,
there was acceptance. Acceptance of the issue. Though vague, implication that one of the two (the

What Is Total Quality Management ( Tqm ) Is Defined As A...
1.Total quality management(TQM) is defined as a system of management based on the principle
that every member of a company must contribute towards improving and maintaining the standards
of work in every aspect of the company s operations. It is not only customer focused but requires
total employee involvement along with a focus on process control. A strategic and systematic fact
based decision approach is required for the continuous improvement of the company. The start of
TQM is marked by the introduction of scientific managementprinciples in 1920s. In the 1930s,
Walter Shewhart, a young engineer, developed the methods of statistical analysis and control of
quality using metal rimmed tags and kitchen bowl in the initial experiments.... Show more content

This reduces cost for the company correspondingly increasing the overall profit for the company.
With better services and good quality products, customers are satisfied resulting in fewer
complaints and better brand value. Every production enterprise requires to decrease the defects
generated in it s products. With the help of statistical principles, it can minimize the number of
defective items generated thus reducing wastage of resources and improving the efficiency of the
system. But TQM being an extensive study, it requires an in depth knowledge, to be implemented
to notice effective changes in the production or the defect ratio. For TQM to be implemented in
the unit, all the employees need to go through extensive training which might result in wastage of
time resources as well as there are chances of resistance to learn from the employees. In addition,
it is a slow process, in the sense, that direct results cannot be observed. Being a long process, it can
not be used to correct the necessary and immediate problems. TQM focuses on task standardization,
which can discourage creativity. Moreover, it requires a lot of resources being contributed to it s
planning and implementation not only making it resource consuming process but also an expensive
one.

Long-Distance Trade And Economic Development.. Many Countries
LONG DISTANCE TRADE AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT Many countries in the 15th
century were isolated from communication with outsiders from other countries, thus preventing
introduction of new ideas that would encourage either growth or change. They were bound by old
traditions that were hard to ignore but this also created a situation whereby these countries were
literally bursting at the seam for new ideas and growth. Finally ignoring years of isolationism,
Chinese and European hierarchies slowly began financing various expeditions seeking not only to
become trading partners with other countries, but also looking for new territories to explore and
settle. These expeditions slowly began to bring back an infusion of great wealth which, in turn,...

Eventually, things began to change in China and it wasn t long before China became the first
country to develop paper money, sophisticated brokerage practices and banking institutions. There
were a number of factors that drove this; first there was the huge size of China itself. Other factors
were the difficulties involved in long distance trade using metal currencies and the minor role of
the government in regulating the economy. China also used a tribute system as the basis for trade
and restricted access of foreign traders to Chinese markets, particularly by limiting them to
specified ports under controls established by the central government. Under the Qianlong Emperor,
the western companies were limited specifically to Canton where they could have contact only with
officially designated firms, or Hong. On the other side of the world, trade significantly influenced
the course of history in West Africa (A). All the wealth made through trade was used to build larger
kingdoms and empires and to protect their trade interests, these kingdoms built strong armies.
Kingdoms that desired more control of the trade also developed strong armies to expand their
kingdoms and protect them from their competition. Long distance trade helped the local economy

The Issue Of College Sports Essay
It s Saturday. Everyone is gearing up for the big game. The alumni are out in the parking lot
firing up the grills for tailgating. The students are waiting in long lines to make sure they can get
a ticket into the student section. Kids are running into the team store, eagerly looking for their
favorite jersey, or perhaps a cool hat and a foam finger. The concession lines go around the
stadium. The stadium is sold out beyond capacity, stuffing people into the luxury viewing booths
and overcharging the seats way up in the nosebleeds, up in the spots where you can hardly see
what s happening. After the game ends, students and families alike head toward the fan shop again,
rushing to find something they can get autographed by the star quarterback. Perhaps one of the
biggest facets of the American culture that can t be found anywhere else in the world is the concept
of collegesports. The United States is the only country on the globe where students at institutions
of higher learning compete in collegiate athletics against each other. Every year, college sports
captivate the entire nation; people want to cheer on their school or alma mater and showcase the
pride they have in their program, and universities look on with glee as they rake in the benefits of
such a lucrative market. Here s the catch: the players, the ones who work tirelessly, who shed
blood, sweat, and tears for their schools, don t see any of it. Who are the ones whose names are
chanted religiously by the fans?

Reflection Of A Look At The Washed Ashore Sculpture Exhibit
This semester I attended the Washed Ashore Sculpture Exhibit. It is located on the campus of Iowa
State University in the Reiman Gardens. This event is related to Humanities because exhibit houses
many art sculptures made of trash. The trash is plastics and other house hold items that have
washed ashore in Oregon and Northern California. The purpose of the exhibit is to raise awareness
to the damages of plastic to the environment, what plastic can do to animals and ecosystems,
demonstrate how nonbiodegradable plastic is, and how much plastic there is in the ocean.
The exhibit is set up so that right as you walk it the butterfly exhibit entrance is off to your left,
and the research facility is off to your right. In between them is a hallway filled with Jellyfish made
of plastic water bottles and caps and other trash. At the end of the hallway is a pair of doors that
leads to a greenhouse that a bunch of plants and a large jellyfish. When you go outside, there is a
pathway that leads to each of the gardens and ten sculptures that is featured inside the Washed
Ashore Sculpture Exhibit.
I had four favorite sculptures in the gardens. One of my favorite pieces was the Polar Bear. Right as
you approached the entrance to the park, you are greeted by the polar bear. The polar bear
represented the results of global warming and loss of land for polar bears to live and hunt on.
Another was the Giant Jellyfish. Inside the greenhouse there was a giant Jellyfish hanging from the
ceiling.

The Development Of Enterprise Risk Management Essay
1.3 The Development of Enterprise Risk Management
This section will briefly discuss the development of ERM especially the emerging factors that
influence companies to shift from TRM to ERM. The researchers will discuss both the academic
literature and the role of professional.
(D Arcy, 2001) proposed that the origin of riskmanagement was developed by a group of
innovative insurance professors Robert I. Mehr and Bob Hedges in 1950s . The objective of risk
management at that time was to maximize the productive efficiency of the enterprise. At that time,
risk management was specifically focused on pure risk and speculative risks.
According to (Skipper Kwon, 2007) , in the 1970s, when the Organization of Petroleum Exporting
Countries decided to reduce production in order to increase the price, financial risk management
became an interesting issue highlighted by firms because the increment in oil price has affected the
stability of exchange rates and the inflation rate .
Later in 1980s, political risks attracted more attention from multinational corporations as a result of

Standards And Licensing Regulations For Developing,...
Standard Setting Organizations ( SSOs ) are organizations that are responsible for developing,
coordinating, and commercializing technical standards. These SSOs usually have rules on the
usage and licensing of patented technology within the standard to help guarantee that firms wanting
to implement these standards have access to the technologies required to comply with the standard.
Therefore, usually when a patentholder declares its patents as essential to a SSO and wants to
include it in the standard, the licensing rules of the SSO require the patented technology included
in the standard to be licensed on fair, reasonable, and non discriminatory ( FRAND ) terms. These
patents are commonly known as Standard Essential Patents ( SEPs ).
While a patent holder promises to license the SEPs under FRAND terms, a patent holder might own
some other patents that are important for a given technology but not really essential , these patents
are called non Standard Essential Patents ( Non SEPs ). And, one problem with this is that while
the SSO licensing rules require patent holders to license the essential patents on FRAND terms, in
practice, most patent holders tend to license all of their patents on a given technology without
really distinguishing between what patents are essential and what patents are non essential.
Therefore, the question being explored here is 1) whether the terms of a FRAND commitment are
violated when a patent holder bundles FRAND committed patents along

Ford Motor Company Influences The 21st Century
The Ford Motor Company Influences the 21st Century
A man that went by the name of Henry Ford, once said, I invented nothing new. I simply assembled
the discoveries of other men behind whom were centuries of work... The Ford Motor Company is
an American continental automobile maker founded by Henry Ford on June 16, 1903. During the
1920s, this firm marketed automobiles that were reliable, low cost, easy to operate and easier to
fix device for the masses (Rise of the Automobile). In addition, the Ford Motor Company led the
world into the expansion and refinement of the assembly line; revolutionizing our society to greater
heights through its mobile products. Meanwhile, the company s contributions benefited society
through the means of the renovation of the suburbs and the invention of new services. Like no
other during the 1920s, the Ford Motor Company supplied to the boom of innovations; marking its
footprint to a superior society.
Ford s car production won t be forgotten, but remembered through the ages. The Ford Motor
Company s adaptation of the assembly line gave Ford an advantage over competitors. Selling
over 15 million cars by 1925, the new stylish cars were in high demand and were sold at lower

Benefit Of Technology In Society
Technology and Its Benefits Human Society
Technology is a beautiful thing and very beneficial to carrying out our daily lives. The internet lets
us develop application software where we can train our brains, entertain ourselves, and
communicate with almost anybody from anywhere in the world. Technology has also advanced so
much that we are creating robots to take over dangerous human jobs, and satellites to track the
development of our solar system. Most people use some type of technology in their life everyday
whether it be a cellphone, computer at work or even a watch to tell time. All of these aspects can
surely have downsides, but they do not amount to the number of beneficial opportunities that each
provide to our daily lives. Technology affects society tremendously and is definitely beneficial
when looking at how it has advanced over the years to improve the daily lives of the human society.
One of the most positive aspects of creating cellular technology is the fact that it helps build
relationships whether it be a simple phone call or an application of some sort such as a social
media platform. Cellular connection is detrimental in staying connected with the rest of society as
it provides us with speedy access and convenience to update us on our peer s lives, also it helps us
keep up news and what is going on in the media these days, and it helps people in job fields to
maintain their affiliations with cross country and international business partners. Steven

How Did Rosalind Franklin Contribute To The Structure Of Dna
Who really discovered the structure of DNA? Though there were many scientists with contributions
to understanding the structure of DNA one scientist stood out above all others; Rosalind Franklin.
Although some people believed Watson and Crick made the most contributions to the discovery of
the structure of DNA, I believe Rosalind Franklin made the most contributions. Rosalind Franklin
was the scientist who took photos of DNA to figure out its form, proved phosphates are on the
outside of DNA strands, and performed calculations on DNA to prove DNA s structure. First,
Rosalind Franklin was able to take photos of DNA that helped in the discovery of the structure
of DNA. Rosalind took photos of DNA in a dry and wet state that helped to discovered the
structure of DNA. When the DNA was dry, the strands thickened to form a sharp scatter. When
the DNA was wet the strands stretched to form a distinctive x. The dry DNA took the form of a
helix which helped her to conclude that the DNA has phosphates. When Franklin took photos of
DNA it was a huge milestone in the understanding of the structure of DNA. Without photos of
DNA there would be no evidence to prove any of the scientists theories. Franklin s photos were a
major step in figuring... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Watson and Crick were able to figure out the pairs of nucleotides before Franklin was able to
figure it out. This made sense that the base pairs are on the inside of the strands while the outside
holds two sugar phosphate strands. Watson and Crick, from looking at Rosalind s research, were
also able to conclude that DNA crystals could be flipped upside down and backwards, and still look
the same meaning the backbone to the structure must be identical and that they run in opposite
directions. If no one put all of the information together, we might not know everything about the
structure of DNA that we know

Operational Level Command And Control Requires Both The
Operational level command and control requires both the effective execution of mission command
and integration of the joint functions. During Operation Husky, the Allies did not have a shared
understanding of the mission, did not have a clear understanding of commander s intent, and did
not exhibit mutual trust during the campaign. Disjointed Mission Command repeatedly prevented
the Alliesfrom capitalizing on the Allies collective combat power.
While the Allied Naval forces came through with incredible logistical accomplishments in the joint
function of sustainment, the Allies poor execution of movement and maneuver ultimately allowed
Germany s withdraw from Sicily. Although the Allies failed to put forth a united effort, they...

During the campaign, General Alexander s inability to grasp the significance of a German
withdrawal echoed the Allies lack of understanding at the Casablanca Conference. On the ground,
neither LTG Patton s 7th Army nor Montgomery s 8th Army understood that the true center of
gravity for the campaign lay in defeating the German forces and preventing their withdrawal.
Instead, the 7th Army and 8th Army sacked one town after another and got mired in various
embattlements, which gave the Germans enough time to withdraw to Italy in significant numbers.
This strategic blunder was a direct result of the lack of understanding. Commander s intent, the
second key component of Mission Command, provides subordinate commanders and units with a
clear and concise expression of the purpose of the operation and the desired military end state.
Leaders who understand the commander s intent can use that information to fill in any gaps in
information as those commanders move their units on the battlefield. In doing so, commanders can
achieve battlefield synergy when faced with poor communications from higher. The Casablanca
Conference left U.S. service members, and their general officers with an imperfect understanding of
the ultimate purpose of Operation Husky. This lack of clarity would ultimately have an adverse
impact on the resolution of the campaign. England saw Operation Husky as the first of several

Distributing Organs
Distributing the organs among the patients should be done in an ethical way. Not everyone in
need of an organ transplant gets what is needed for him because there is a shortage in organ
availability. Actually, there should be a fair distribution plan and everyone should be aware of it.
Most likely there are two types of distributive rightness. The first type is called equal access, which
means the available organs should be fairly divided among the waited patients no matter the sex or
the race, and the waiting time length should be considered. The first on the list be treated first.
Another type of distributive justice is called maximum benefit, which means that the doctor give
the priority to the patient who the doctor sees that he/she will live longer or the transplantation will
be successful. It is a way to avoid wasting the organs because they are rare. UNOS encourages the
transplant centers in the United States to use those methods in distributive the organs: the medical
need, probability of success, and time on the waiting list.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many arguments that shows it has no fairness between the patients simply because no one
has the ability to determine how long the transplanted patient will live after the surgery. How many
years the organ will function. I believe that the second type is an unethical issue in the distribution
because there is no equality between people, and it gives its back to the older people, and not
giving them the opportunity to get the organ they are needed for. as a result, they may lose their

What Are The Ethical Ethics Of Nike
Introduction
When growing an enterprise that you wish to compete on a global market, what needs to be
taken into consideration is scaling. Most importantly for investors, what will it cost to expand
this company and offer their products on a global scale? This is what Nike faced in the 1980 s
when they expanded by outsourcing their production Asia, 86% of their production housed
primarily in Korea and Taiwan by 1986, (Locke, 2002) with only 17% remaining in the US by
the end of the 1990 s. By manufacturing off shores in low wage countries, Nike garnered the

A Distributed Quantile Filter Based Algorithm
A distributed quantile filter based algorithm was proposed in (Chen, Liang Yu, 2014) to answer
top k query in a wireless sensor network. It evaluate top k query in wireless sensor networks to
maximize the network lifetime. Also, an online algorithm was proposed for answering time
dependent top k queries with different values of k. Different approaches were proposed in (B.
Chen et al., 2014; H. Chen, 2014; Li et al., 2014; Sandhya Devi, 2013) for answering top k
queries. The safe interval which used for getting the top k data points computed only in
(Sandhya Devi, 2013). This safe interval speeds up the query response time because it used for
getting the top k data points without the examination of all points for inclusion in TOPK. Also,
there is no need to build the Voronoi Diagram (VD) as in (Li et al., 2014) or to build SWTP tree
as (H. Chen, 2014). In addition, updating the safe intervals is easier than updating nodes in (H.
Chen, 2014; Li et al., 2014). In (Li et al., 2014) it is important to build the Voronoi Diagram (VD)
to answer the bi chromatic reverse k nearest neighbor (BRkNN) query without the need to
compute the BRkNN answer set for each data point. Li et al. (2014) address the k nearest
neighbors answers which not addressed in the rest. Thus algorithms which proposed in (Li et al.,
2014) outperform the rest in location based applications. Quantile filter based algorithm in (B.

Pholological Differences Between Mandarin and English
Language Studies 172 Assignment 1 :Essay on Language comparison. By: Kyle Sibson

another language. I have decided to choose Mandarin as my language of choice. A major
elements of languages will be compared in this essay. That being phonology. Phonology is
defined as being the study of the way speech sounds form patterns .(Victoria Fromkin 2009). As
(Hammond 1999) describes, every spoken language has a unique system whereby sounds are
organised. This unique pattern of pattern can be termed phonology and varies widely in
geographical and social differences. English is the most widely spoken language in the world with

e.g. Reqing. [Й»пЃ–tЙ•iпЃЋпЃќ Tone is one of the most important aspects of Mandarin; they can
change the meaning of a word just by changing the pitch of how we say the syllable. There are
for tones in mandarin (5 if we include the neutral tone) which are high, rising, falling rising and
falling. The diagram below shows the pitch of each tone. An example of how tones can change a
meaning can be used with the word ma. Ma with a high tone means mother, with a rising tone it
means hemp, with a falling rising tone means horse and lastly a falling tone means to scold. We
can also say ma with a neutral tone indicates that a yes/no question are being asked(Taochung
Yao 1997). So as shown, it is very important when speaking Mandarin that the tones are correct as
if they are wrong they can change the entire meaning of a word. So based on the analysis of both
English and Mandarin phonology, we can see that they vary greatly. The most logical reason for
Chinese having tones is because only about up to 400 different syllables can be made whereas in
English there are approximately 12000.(Gao 2002) Also shown in English is the importance of
stress and pitch, which lack the same importance in Mandarin. While stress in English can change a
noun to a verb or even change the complete meaning of the word, stress in mandarin is only used

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD)
Description
Duchenne muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is the most common out of nine types of muscular
dystrophy. This genetic disorder causes progressive muscular weakness, and deterioration due to
the lack of a protein called Dystrophin. This protein keeps the muscles in tack, so when it s
missing, the muscles slowly break down. (MDA, 2015)
Epidemiology
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is the most common muscular dystrophy disorder. In the United
States DMD affects 1 in 3,500 males. 2/3 of those cases are passed down for the mothers and 1/3
are random mutations. Internationally the statistics are similar. (Medscape, 2015)

with the pain associated with DMD. There are many varying degrees of severity with DMD and
because of this treatment plans vary greatly with the patient s specific needs. Many are given
medical interventions to help with mobility. Many use wheelchairs or braces to help them
maintain freedom and independance. Drugs like Prednisone, Deflazacort,Cyclosporine and
Oxandrolone are used to prolong the ability to walk without aids as much as 5 years. Prednisone
is a Corticosteroid that is the most common steriod used to help symptoms of DMD. There is
controversy when using this steriod because of the numerous side effects like weight gain,
fragile bones, high blood pressure, and behavioral changes. Deflazacort is a synthetic form of
Prednisone that has been found to have less side effects. This drug is used in Europe.
Cyclosporine is a medication that is very controversial because it s possible it causes myopathy.
Oxandrolone is still being researched but it is believed to have similar results as Prednisone with
fewer side effects.(National Human Genome Research Institute, 2013) People with DMD may
need other medications for secondary issues like asthma, or heart complications. Surgeries are
also an option to help correct spinal curvature or fix issues with the heart. Therapies are the most
common among all varying degrees of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Range of Motion exercises
will help keep flexibility in the affected joints. These exercises will also help to prevent muscle

Essay about Wage Compression and Symbolic Egalitarianism
An organisations internal pay structure can affect the way employees perform to the business
strategy. Where a workers performance not only depends on the level of pay they receive (Solow,
1979, in Alexopoulos Cohen, 2003), but also takes into consideration their pay compared to
workers above and below them, those within the same occupational group, and the external labour
market (Akerlof and Yellen, 1990). Pfeffer (2005) argues that wage compression, which is the act of
reducing the size of the pay differences among employees, improves productivity. To gain
competitive advantage, organisations need to acknowledge not only hierarchical wage compression
(between management and employees) but also the differences between individuals at... Show more

There is also a range of returns employees can receive; the psychological relational returns (learning
opportunities, employment security), and total compensation returns which are transactional
(benefits such as work/life balance, allowances, as well as cash compensation and bonuses)
(Milkovich, Newman, Gerhart, 2011).
However, the validity of Pfeffers argument is contestable. Although compressing the pay structure
supports fairness and equality, there is also the problem of creating the opposite outcome. When
wage differentials are eliminated, it may not be perceived as fair and create a negative effect on
effort and motivation (Kraft, 1994). A Swedish study demonstrates this negative effect, whereby
the higher paid workers morale and effort subsided leading to lower outputs as they did not feel
valued for their skills (Hibbs and Locking, 2000, in Alexopoulos Cohen, 2003). Therefore, wage
differentials aid in distinguishing between workers abilities and responsibilities to organisational
performance (Beaumont Harris, 2003). Theorists have thus developed a counter argument, that it is
in fact wage dispersion that leads to increased effort and performance (Lallemand, Plasman, Rycx,
2004). Instead of emphasising co operation, Lazear and Rosen s (1981) tournament theory
highlights the need to differentiate pay, as larger variations are more motivating than smaller or
equal differences.

Racial Discrimination Past, Present, And Future
Racial Discrimination Past, Present, and Future
Civil rights activist Al Sharpton said, We have come a long way from the days of slavery, but in
2014, discrimination and inequality still saturate our society in modern ways . This quote rings
true where equality in the workplace is concerned. In Toni Cade Bambara s short story The Lesson
, we see what social discrimination looks like through the eyes of children who are observing a
wealthier part of town. In their eyes, they see and injustice and question why it is not being altered
into something centered more on equality and equal opportunity. Toni Cade Bambara s story The
Lesson is written to make a point about racial discrimination in the workplace and social inequality.
In Bambara s short story, we are told the tale of several kids who are being taken for a day out by
Miss Moore, a woman in their neighborhood. Along the way, she gives them lessons about how to
handle money and to pay fairly. She also teaches them that just by saving, they can eventually get
what they want. While she talks away, the kids observe their surroundings. They feel out of place
in the wealthy neighborhood that Miss Moore has brought them to in the story. Something that
helped show there was judgment and a feeling of uneasiness, was when one of the children stated,
But what I got to be shamed about? Got as much right to go in as anybody (Bambara). This was
said when they were walking into the toy store. The children could sense hate or

disordered eating behavior ( Levine, Murnen 2009).
The media acts as an influential force where society s views of body image and health are used to
brainwash the minds of its consumers. The constant pressure exuded by the media affects many
individuals in society. Whether it is an ad on a passing bus, or a commercial broadcasted into
family homes, the media finds its way to penetrate and convey certain perceptions of body and
health. Women are predominantly affected by this narrow view. Particularly looking at female ballet

Balanchine s preferences have had far reaching influence. (76) Gelsey Kirkland, a soloist at the
New York City Ballet was known to have eating disorders, which were encouraged by Balanchine.
(Heiland, Murray, Edley 258). Balanchine forced a thin body type on Kirkland; she recalls in her
book that he stopped class to inspect her body:
With his knuckles, he thumped on my sternum and down my rib cage, clucking his tongue,
remarking, Must see the bones. I was less than a hundred pounds even then. He did not merely
say, Eat less. He said repeatedly, Eat nothing. (1986, 55 6) (Heiland, Murray, Edley 258)

Law Enforcement Officers Face Incredible Dangers Essay
Law enforcement officers have encountered some very deadly days. The life of a law
enforcement officer is one of constantly being aware of your surroundings, dealing with the
uncertainty of not knowing the individuals you have to approach, and being able to cope with
the visual images seen after vicious crimes. The life of a law enforcement officer, who protects
and serves, is both challenging and rewarding. The first law enforcement system was established
in Boston, Massachusetts over 350 years ago. During this time in the Colonies that were not
heavily populated, the sheriff served as the main law enforcement officer. During the 1800 s, 24
hour law enforcement service and systems similar to what is used today began to emerge
(NLEMI). Law enforcement officers face incredible dangers. With over 900,000 law
enforcement officers nationwide the Federal Bureau of Investigations reported approximately
1,165,383 violent crimes in 2014. Approximately one law enforcement officer dies every 61
hours (NLEMI).The law enforcement profession is the most challenging and dangerous career,
because officers must be aware of every law and action they take at all times, manage constant
training and stress, and protecting others as well as themselves in the line of duty. Law
enforcement officers must be aware of the laws governing the state they work in and analyze every
action the decide to take. The number of statutes and laws is enormous. For example, there are

The adult vertebral column usually consists of 33 vertebral segments. the usual number of

may be wholly or partially incorporated into the sacrum. The five lumbar vertebrae are

If fusion occurs in cervical level it causes restriction of motion, short neck, torticollis, and
neurological abnormalities of variable degree, depending on the extent of involvement and the type
and number of the associated malformations. Abnormal degrees of motion at the unfused levels
may be responsible for impingement on neural structures. Although block vertebrae are most
commonly found in the cervical region, they can also be found throughout the spine. Individuals
with block vertebrae, when viewed through MRI, typically show calcified disk space, fusion of
apophyseal joints, and malformation or fusion of the spinous processes. They may also suffer from
muscle weakness and/or atrophy, and neurological sensory loss. Vertebral fusion is often limited to
the thoracic and lumbar spine in ankylosing spondylitis where spinal abnormalities initially appear
in the thoracolumbar and lumbosacral junctions and may subsequently extend to the remainder of
the spine. Classic radiographic abnormalities include thin, vertically oriented syndesmophytes [4].

Southern (NSC) spiked, as did shares of rivals including Canadian Pacific Railway (CP), which
is said to be considering making a bid for its American counterpart. This kind of scuttlebutt isn t
new, as Canadian Pacific CEO Keith Creel has made it clear that he s on the prowl. Most
recently, it was reported that CSX Corp. (CSX) rebuffed his offers. Longer term, the rails interest
me because of the Panama Canal expansion, which is expected to double the capacity of the canal
with a new lane of traffic that will allow for larger ships to pass through. (I talked... Show more

But no one has made any definite moves yet. CP s 6% pop reflects just how excited people are
at the idea of a merger, even if there isn t anything set in stone. If CP and NSC were to
consolidate, the deal would lead to over 33,700 miles of track being created, improving
connectivity between the U.S. and Canada and pandering to the increased production of oil and
demand for other consumer goods. A merger would bring together the East coast footprint of
Norfolk Southern and the West coast footprint of Canadian Pacific, which happens to be backed
by activist hedge fund manager Bill Ackman. Overall, such a deal would send a positive
message about the future of the economy. CP has fallen over 8% in the past month, so it s hard
to commit to as a standalone investment, even as a potential long term play. I ll be keeping my
eye on the company as merger talks continue, but don t hold your breath. After all, even if a
merger were announced tomorrow, it could take up to two years before the deal is finalized and
we see some real money flowing into the

Pluralism And The Problem Of Religious Diversity
There exists a vast number of religions in the world that have their own belief systems and
populations of followers that, naturally, gives result to a wide variety of religious diversity.
Logically, the problem with this religious diversity is that it is hard to see how they could all be
true at any rate. In response to this problem, two solutions have been proposed: pluralism and
exclusivism. Pluralism makes a claim that all of the religions are true in their own way where
exclusivism, on the other hand, makes the claim that only one religionis true in its beliefs. I will be
discussing the differences between exclusivism and pluralism in depth as responses to the problem
of religious diversity as well as comparing and contrasting Christianity and Hinduism to make a
case for why exclusivism is the correct solution.
The first solution to the problem, pluralism, which is advocated by John Hick, offers that,
fundamentally, deep down, all of the religions are the same and so are all true in their own way.
Hick, in his work titled Who or What is God?, believes that the concept of God can be described
as anthropomorphic. That is, as Hick puts it, God is a being like ourselves in the fundamental
respect that we are both God and ourselves persons. But whereas we are finite, created, dependent
persons, God is an infinite, eternal, uncreated and omnipotent Person. (Hick). He paints a picture of
who God is by saying that God s inner nature is beyond the range of our human

How Hermaphrodite Children Should Not Have Gender...
Stage 1 Biology
Issues Investigation Cells and organisms
Hermaphrodite children should not have gender assignment surgery as an infant but should rather
have the choice to do so as an adult.
Introduction: Believe it or not, hermaphrodites are more common than you would think. But at
birth, their parents think they re doing their child a favour by having them undergo surgery to
being just one gender rather than both. Is this justified? Are parents and doctors right to do this
to the life of a child? What about the child s say? Should they be able to choose whether or not if
they want to be one gender when they re an adult? Or should they be forced to live a life as a
gender that they may not want to be?
Biological background: If you look ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ovarian and testicular tissue may be separate, or the two may be combined in what is called an
ovotestis. Affected individuals have sex chromosomes showing male female mosaicism (where one
individual possesses both the male XY and female XX chromosome pairs). Most often, but not
always, the chromosome complement is 46, XX, and in every such individual there also exists
evidence of Y chromosomal material on one of the autosomes (any of the 22 pairs of chromosomes
other than the sex chromosomes). Individuals with a 46, XX chromosome complement usually
have ambiguous external genitalia with a sizable phallus and are therefore often reared as males.
However, they develop breasts during puberty and menstruate and in only rare cases actually
produce sperm. In 46, XX intersex (female pseudo hermaphroditism), individuals have male
external genitalia but the chromosomal constitution and reproductive organs of a female. In 46, XY
(malepseudohermaphroditism), individuals have ambiguous or female external genitalia but the
chromosomal constitution and reproductive organs of a male, though the testes may be malformed
or absent. (The Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica, 2015) Hermaphrodites are actually quite
common; more often being shown through plants and animals such as worms, snails and
barnacles. (The Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica, 2015) Most fish also have the ability to
change gender over a course of time.

Berlusconi Oral Health
Dental health is important for all children, since oral health is vital to overall health. Special needs
children may have issues with the mechanics of eating such as chewing or swallowing or with the
sensory experiences of eating like textures and temperatures. If your child has problems with having
his or her teethor mouth touched it will be helpful to start desensitizing early. Begin as gently as
possible, maybe by just touching the lips with something soft. Gradually increase the pressure as it
is tolerated. Once the mouth is actually open you can start working on touching the teeth, little by
little. Infant toothbrushes that slip on your finger can help. If your child has a therapist you can
work on this goal together. Brushing your... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After he was smashed in the face last year with a marble statue, the dental hygienist that he saw
became a pivotal figure in recruiting young women for Berlusconi s sex parties. Nicole Minetti
also joined Berlusconi s political party and now is a member of the Lombardy regional
parliament. However, her primary role with Berlusconi was far less political and more social.
Minetti was there with her chest out kissing Berlusconi continuously. It was a real whorehouse.
All the girls were given rings and necklaces, reported a police officer on the new revelations of
the sex parties. In the 400 page court document, which is primarily concerned with Berlusconi s
alleged payments for sex with a minor, the young women at his parties engaged in provocative
and lurid behavior. The women stroked themselves and Berlusconi while carrying on stripteases
and seductive, lesbian style dances. Karima El Mahroug, the 17 year old Moroccan that
Berlusconi is accused of having sex with is supposed to have been taped telling a friend, I told
Silvio I wanted five million Euro for all this...he told me he would pay me all I wanted, in gold,
but that I should just keep making things up and pretend I m mad but not reveal anything and
stay quiet. Berlusconi s term as Prime Minister over the last three years has been hampered by
wild tales of sex and outrageous behavior. Increasingly, it seems that the allegations get wilder
and wilder, while at the same time becoming more believable. Elections are in 2013, but the odds
of Berlusconi making it that long are about as likely as Berlusconi taking a vow of abstinence.
This man has a sex addiction problem and does not seem to comprehend how it is taking him down.
Last year, his wife, Veronica, divorced him. She stated that she could no longer tolerate his
association with minors. Berlusconi should have taken the hint then. For more on foolishness in

The Importance Of Fostering A Winning Culture
Fostering a Winning Culture
The purpose of this paper is to discuss how sergeants major can influence changing the culture
within the United State Army Recruiting Command (USAREC). Soldiers at all levels within
USAREC deal with the constant pressures of mission accomplishment and often do not realize or
do not feel appreciation for their efforts. It perceived by many Soldiers within USAREC that their
leadership often, uses aggressive communication within their formations and this often hinders the
development of cohesive teams. Sergeants major have the ability and responsibility to influence
cultural change within their organizations. Training subordinate leaders in the application of using
positive psychology and Master Resiliency ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When I first came into the recruiting in 1999 there were several recruiting incentives that
recognized a recruiter s performance and not just the recruiter s performance, but the performance
at all levels, recruiting station recognition, recruiting company recognition, recruiting battalion
recognition and so on. These recognitions once within doctrine took form in awards such as, the
recruiter gold badge of excellence, the recruiter ring, and culminated with those who truly became
an expert in the skill with the Glen E. Morrell award. In 2010 these types of award programs
ended. Senior leaders considered them ineffective goals to motivate soldiers to bring their A game
or their highest level of performance. This was a point of time of great success for the recruiting
command, the economy had fallen, the unemployment rate was hovering around ten percent, and
the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan seemed to be ending. Hence the idea that the recruiting mission
had become easy and these types of incentives where unnecessary. It was not just the incentives that
went away, though the recognition leaders verbally gave to subordinates when they did something
stopped as well. Effective praise had always been a key part of motivating soldiers within the
Recruiting Command but the culture had changed and we stopped recognizing people not just with
trinkets or awards, but with simple personal recognition of how they were doing

Comparing The Silk Road Trials And Triumphs
Silk Road Trials and Triumphs Traders prospered from the Silk Road, but they had to overcome
the many dangers along the route before they could gain their wealth. These challenges, ranging
from human to natural, made trading along the Silk Road a more difficult task. In order to be
successful, merchants were required to be innovative and adapt to the conditions. Much of the
Silk Road route is over trying terrain, such as high altitude mountains and arid deserts that
stretch for miles. The mountain ranges along the trail include Tienshan, Hindu Kush,
Mongolian Altai, and Pamir , and traders had to search for passes to get through them because
they were too steep and tall to climb over. Even so, the passes were not much safer than the
peaks, such as an account of a traveler through one of these passes:The barrier formed by the
Suspended Crossing is such that it cannot be easily traversed. There is a path that is 20 inches
wide, that leads forward for a length of twelve miles, overlooking a precipice whose depth is
unfathomed. Travelers passing on horse or foot hold on to one another and pull each other along
with ropes. When animals fall, before they have dropped half way down the chasm they are
shattered in pieces; and when men fall, the situation is such that they are unable to rescue one
another . If a fear of heights is not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to cross mountain passes, travelers built characteristic bridges and plank roads along cliffs
by perforating holes on mountains . To stay warm, they could fashion protective clothing out of one
of the items they were trading: silk . These innovations may not have been the most effective
methods compared to modern times, but they worked enough to make mountain paths on the Silk
Road a viable option for travel through the treacherous

  • 2. Hospital Information Security A hospitals HIM director needs to understand how to maintain the integrity and security of all financial and clinical data as it travels seamlessly across a network of different applications. For this to happen, the applications must first go through a hardwired translation process to ensure proper communication between the various software systems; this is called integration. However, none of this is possible without interfaces which connect the multitude of hardware devices and software applications that are used throughout the different departments in a hospital system. Information security is another major concern the director of HIM has to account for during the system selection process. Confidentiality and privacy of personal health... The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) defines interoperability as ensuring that health related information flows seamlessly. Information needs to follow the patient regardless of geographic, organizational, or vendor boundaries. Interoperability refers to the architecture or standards that make it possible for diverse EHR systems to work compatibly (American Health Information Management Association, 2013). The system should include standard functional interface capabilities to ensure data integrity, and privacy is kept between different departmental and care setting information systems. For example, can the proposed vendor support the transmission of data to and from various department information systems? • 3. The Best Days Of My Life I have lived in Columbia for all my life. I have lived in two different houses in a matter of fourteen years. There are some days that I want to forget because I hated what I did that day, also, there are some days in Columbia that I will never forget. For example, the day I moved was one of the best days of my life because now I don t need to share a room with my brother. Also, seeing all the stuff we have had in his garage that we have had for 14 years. When I was looking at all those stuff it reminded me how special our old house was. One of my personal favorites was when I was in 5th grade. At my school we had something called Safety patrol, and that is where we come before and after school to tell the K 4 to stop running and to walk to the playground or the bus. Usually, after school, I would go to my aunt s work and it would be the best time. I got to see all the different things she does. She gets to see people at the hospital, which I got to do 1 time and the patient was the nicest in the world. She gave me 10 dollars to buy food of my choice and I got a cheeseburger and fries for lunch. Since my aunt and my mom work at the hospital usually after about 20 minutes I would go over to my mom s office and go and finish my homework. Then I and my mom would go home. this really reflected on my life because after going home I learned that even though people are not as safe as other people we can still help them in certain ways. Moving is also one of my favorite things, but the main reason is changing schools. I changed from Lange to Gentry. When I first heard we were moving I was so mad because at Lange I had so many. Friends that I never wanted to forget but I only knew about 3 5 people at gentry so it was scary for me. The first week of school I had to go to my friend Charlie s house because at the time we had not moved to into our new house. During school, it was a shock to me because at the time I did not know that Gentry and Lange look the same so, during the first day, I knew every single room from up to down. When I got my schedule for the first time I did not have everything I did at Lange. On my original schedule, I did not have band or AVID on there so I had to go to the office and get ... The hero journey is a symbol that binds, in the original sense of the word, two distant ideas, and the spiritual quest of the ancients with the modern search for identity always the one, shape shifting yet marvelously constant story that we find. The first stage of the cycle is The Orphan . Orphan may feel like an orphan; alone, unloved, or confused. In Duk thul/Dirty Skin; there are 4 brothers who were the sons of the village. One day, this brother, dragging his blanket behind him, went to the fire and lay down in the dirt next to the fire, covered himself up with his blanket, and went to sleep; right in the middle of the day while everyone else was working. • 6. The Drug Approval Of The Disease Essay There are over 7,000 rare diseases affecting between 25 and 30 million Americans (Global Genes 2016). A disease or disorder is defined as rare in the U.S when it affects fewer than 200,000 Americans at any given time (Eurordis 2016). Some of these rare diseases come with even more rare and controversial decisions. The FDA just made its most controversial drug approval of the year (Fortune 2016). This injectable drug is called eteplirsen by Sarepta Therapeutics and it is an exon skipping drug targeting a section of genetic code called exon 51 in the dystrophin gene. Exon skipping is a type of strategy that is being developed for the rare disease DMD (Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy). The exon skipping process skips sections of genetic codes during protein manufacturing, allowing cells to create shortened but partially functional dystrophin protein which is the muscle protein that is missing in DMD. This rare X linked disease was first described in the 1850 s by French neurologists Guillaume Duchenne but was not known to inhibit the production of protein dystrophin and result in the loss of motor functions and muscular degeneration until the 1980 s (MDA 2016). 1 in 3600 6000 live male births has resulted in DMD (Bushby 2010). Most patients are diagnosed around 5 years of age when their physical abilities are no longer similar to their peers (Bushby 2010). • 12. The Bible And Aeneas s Life As a follower of their respective God or gods, both Job in the Bible and Aeneas in the Aeneid suffer while doing their duties, yet they stay faithful and persistent to their obligations, despite constant suffering. While Job s suffering tests his faith in God, Aeneas suffering differs as his pietas, or duty is tested. Job and Aeneasdo not know the fate set forth by the gods, yet after enduring a great amount of sufferingthey reach relief and the knowledge of their fate. An important difference is that Job s fate is the compensation for what he had lost and reinforcement of his faith in God, while Aeneas s fate is a loss of pietas. Job, blameless and upright , is described as a man who follows God and turns away from evil showing that he tenaciously fulfils his duties to God and makes it a priority that he lives by (Job 1.1). He is challenged in a bet between God and Satan that he will only be faithful to God when everything is going well for him; God chooses to test Satan s theory (Job. 1.8 12). Job endures great suffering, but what makes him a pious man is that ultimately he shows the depth of his faith in God, despite the harsh suffering he endures. A paragon of his faithfulness to God is shown when he is given four sets of bad news: his oxen, donkeys, sheep, camels, servants and all 10 of his children were killed or stolen (Job 1.15 19). After hearing the news, Job fell on the ground and worshipped , saying that he came from [his] mother s womb ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. The Reflection Of The Observation Of Vertical Jumping Vertical Jumping Volleyball, basketball, high jump, hurdling, long jump, and pole vaulting all have a certain motor skill in common and that motor skill is jumping. Jumping is a gross motor skill which coordinates movements which requires the use of the large muscles in the arms, legs, torso, and feet. Furthermore, jumping requires strength, balance, coordination, body awareness, and motor planning. Our lower extremity contains multiple muscles in order for a person to jump. Many of the muscles in the lower extremity cross more than one joint. The basic muscles that are used during jumping are the rectus femoris, gastrocnemius, semimembranosus, semitendinosus, and the long head of biceps femoris. The semimembranosus, semitendinosus, and the long head of the biceps femoris are muscles that make up the hamstrings. Our task was to observe and report a certain motor skill and behavior in different stages of learning. Our group observed Toddlers /Preschool, Grade School, Jr. High, High School, and College students jumping in a non structure play (like recess), structure (like PE class or sport practice), and a competitive environment. What Is Total Quality Management ( Tqm ) Is Defined As A... 1.Total quality management(TQM) is defined as a system of management based on the principle that every member of a company must contribute towards improving and maintaining the standards of work in every aspect of the company s operations. It is not only customer focused but requires total employee involvement along with a focus on process control. A strategic and systematic fact based decision approach is required for the continuous improvement of the company. The start of TQM is marked by the introduction of scientific managementprinciples in 1920s. But TQM being an extensive study, it requires an in depth knowledge, to be implemented to notice effective changes in the production or the defect ratio. For TQM to be implemented in the unit, all the employees need to go through extensive training which might result in wastage of time resources as well as there are chances of resistance to learn from the employees. Many Countries LONG DISTANCE TRADE AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT Many countries in the 15th century were isolated from communication with outsiders from other countries, thus preventing introduction of new ideas that would encourage either growth or change. They were bound by old traditions that were hard to ignore but this also created a situation whereby these countries were literally bursting at the seam for new ideas and growth. Other factors were the difficulties involved in long distance trade using metal currencies and the minor role of the government in regulating the economy. China also used a tribute system as the basis for trade and restricted access of foreign traders to Chinese markets, particularly by limiting them to specified ports under controls established by the central government. Under the Qianlong Emperor, the western companies were limited specifically to Canton where they could have contact only with officially designated firms, or Hong. The students are waiting in long lines to make sure they can get a ticket into the student section. Kids are running into the team store, eagerly looking for their favorite jersey, or perhaps a cool hat and a foam finger. The concession lines go around the stadium. The stadium is sold out beyond capacity, stuffing people into the luxury viewing booths and overcharging the seats way up in the nosebleeds, up in the spots where you can hardly see what s happening. The Development Of Enterprise Risk Management Essay 1.3 The Development of Enterprise Risk Management This section will briefly discuss the development of ERM especially the emerging factors that influence companies to shift from TRM to ERM. The researchers will discuss both the academic literature and the role of professional. (D Arcy, 2001) proposed that the origin of riskmanagement was developed by a group of innovative insurance professors Robert I. Mehr and Bob Hedges in 1950s . The objective of risk management at that time was to maximize the productive efficiency of the enterprise. At that time, risk management was specifically focused on pure risk and speculative risks. According to (Skipper Kwon, 2007) , in the 1970s, when the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries decided to reduce production in order to increase the price, financial risk management became an interesting issue highlighted by firms because the increment in oil price has affected the stability of exchange rates and the inflation rate . Later in 1980s, political risks attracted more attention from multinational corporations as a result of different political regimes in different countries. For example, when the government announced a new policy, investors and corporations must make decisions to reduce political risk (Skipper Kwon, 2007). According to (D Arcy, 2001) during that era, organizations did not properly apply risk management because they did not apply the risk management tools and techniques such as options. • 23. Standards And Licensing Regulations For Developing,... Standard Setting Organizations ( SSOs ) are organizations that are responsible for developing, coordinating, and commercializing technical standards. These SSOs usually have rules on the usage and licensing of patented technology within the standard to help guarantee that firms wanting to implement these standards have access to the technologies required to comply with the standard. Therefore, usually when a patentholder declares its patents as essential to a SSO and wants to include it in the standard, the licensing rules of the SSO require the patented technology included in the standard to be licensed on fair, reasonable, and non discriminatory ( FRAND ) terms. These patents are commonly known as Standard Essential Patents ( SEPs ). While a patent holder promises to license the SEPs under FRAND terms, a patent holder might own some other patents that are important for a given technology but not really essential , these patents are called non Standard Essential Patents ( Non SEPs ). And, one problem with this is that while the SSO licensing rules require patent holders to license the essential patents on FRAND terms, in practice, most patent holders tend to license all of their patents on a given technology without really distinguishing between what patents are essential and what patents are non essential. Therefore, the question being explored here is 1) whether the terms of a FRAND commitment are violated when a patent holder bundles FRAND committed patents along ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The internet lets us develop application software where we can train our brains, entertain ourselves, and communicate with almost anybody from anywhere in the world. Technology has also advanced so much that we are creating robots to take over dangerous human jobs, and satellites to track the development of our solar system. Most people use some type of technology in their life everyday whether it be a cellphone, computer at work or even a watch to tell time. All of these aspects can surely have downsides, but they do not amount to the number of beneficial opportunities that each provide to our daily lives. Technology affects society tremendously and is definitely beneficial when looking at how it has advanced over the years to improve the daily lives of the human society. One of the most positive aspects of creating cellular technology is the fact that it helps build relationships whether it be a simple phone call or an application of some sort such as a social media platform. Cellular connection is detrimental in staying connected with the rest of society as it provides us with speedy access and convenience to update us on our peer s lives, also it helps us keep up news and what is going on in the media these days, and it helps people in job fields to maintain their affiliations with cross country and international business partners. Though there were many scientists with contributions to understanding the structure of DNA one scientist stood out above all others; Rosalind Franklin. Although some people believed Watson and Crick made the most contributions to the discovery of the structure of DNA, I believe Rosalind Franklin made the most contributions. Rosalind Franklin was the scientist who took photos of DNA to figure out its form, proved phosphates are on the outside of DNA strands, and performed calculations on DNA to prove DNA s structure. First, Rosalind Franklin was able to take photos of DNA that helped in the discovery of the structure of DNA. Rosalind took photos of DNA in a dry and wet state that helped to discovered the structure of DNA. When the DNA was dry, the strands thickened to form a sharp scatter. When the DNA was wet the strands stretched to form a distinctive x. The dry DNA took the form of a helix which helped her to conclude that the DNA has phosphates. When Franklin took photos of DNA it was a huge milestone in the understanding of the structure of DNA. Without photos of DNA there would be no evidence to prove any of the scientists theories. Disjointed Mission Command repeatedly prevented the Alliesfrom capitalizing on the Allies collective combat power. Instead, the 7th Army and 8th Army sacked one town after another and got mired in various embattlements, which gave the Germans enough time to withdraw to Italy in significant numbers. Not everyone in need of an organ transplant gets what is needed for him because there is a shortage in organ availability. Actually, there should be a fair distribution plan and everyone should be aware of it. Most likely there are two types of distributive rightness. The first type is called equal access, which means the available organs should be fairly divided among the waited patients no matter the sex or the race, and the waiting time length should be considered. The first on the list be treated first. Another type of distributive justice is called maximum benefit, which means that the doctor give the priority to the patient who the doctor sees that he/she will live longer or the transplantation will be successful. The safe interval which used for getting the top k data points computed only in (Sandhya Devi, 2013). This safe interval speeds up the query response time because it used for getting the top k data points without the examination of all points for inclusion in TOPK. Also, there is no need to build the Voronoi Diagram (VD) as in (Li et al., 2014) or to build SWTP tree as (H. Chen, 2014). In addition, updating the safe intervals is easier than updating nodes in (H. Chen, 2014; Li et al., 2014). As (Hammond 1999) describes, every spoken language has a unique system whereby sounds are organised. [Й»пЃ–tЙ•iпЃЋпЃќ Tone is one of the most important aspects of Mandarin; they can change the meaning of a word just by changing the pitch of how we say the syllable. There are for tones in mandarin (5 if we include the neutral tone) which are high, rising, falling rising and falling. The diagram below shows the pitch of each tone. An example of how tones can change a meaning can be used with the word ma. Ma with a high tone means mother, with a rising tone it means hemp, with a falling rising tone means horse and lastly a falling tone means to scold. We can also say ma with a neutral tone indicates that a yes/no question are being asked(Taochung Yao 1997). So as shown, it is very important when speaking Mandarin that the tones are correct as if they are wrong they can change the entire meaning of a word. So based on the analysis of both English and Mandarin phonology, we can see that they vary greatly. The most logical reason for Chinese having tones is because only about up to 400 different syllables can be made whereas in English there are approximately 12000.(Gao 2002) Also shown in English is the importance of stress and pitch, which lack the same importance in Mandarin. There is also a range of returns employees can receive; the psychological relational returns (learning opportunities, employment security), and total compensation returns which are transactional (benefits such as work/life balance, allowances, as well as cash compensation and bonuses) (Milkovich, Newman, Gerhart, 2011). However, the validity of Pfeffers argument is contestable. Although compressing the pay structure supports fairness and equality, there is also the problem of creating the opposite outcome. When wage differentials are eliminated, it may not be perceived as fair and create a negative effect on effort and motivation (Kraft, 1994). A Swedish study demonstrates this negative effect, whereby the higher paid workers morale and effort subsided leading to lower outputs as they did not feel valued for their skills (Hibbs and Locking, 2000, in Alexopoulos Cohen, 2003). Therefore, wage differentials aid in distinguishing between workers abilities and responsibilities to organisational performance (Beaumont Harris, 2003). Theorists have thus developed a counter argument, that it is in fact wage dispersion that leads to increased effort and performance (Lallemand, Plasman, Rycx, 2004). Instead of emphasising co operation, Lazear and Rosen s (1981) tournament theory highlights the need to differentiate pay, as larger variations are more motivating than smaller or equal differences. ... CP s 6% pop reflects just how excited people are at the idea of a merger, even if there isn t anything set in stone. If CP and NSC were to consolidate, the deal would lead to over 33,700 miles of track being created, improving connectivity between the U.S. and Canada and pandering to the increased production of oil and demand for other consumer goods. A merger would bring together the East coast footprint of Norfolk Southern and the West coast footprint of Canadian Pacific, which happens to be backed by activist hedge fund manager Bill Ackman. Overall, such a deal would send a positive message about the future of the economy. CP has fallen over 8% in the past month, so it s hard to commit to as a standalone investment, even as a potential long term play. I ll be keeping my eye on the company as merger talks continue, but don t hold your breath. After all, even if a merger were announced tomorrow, it could take up to two years before the deal is finalized and we see some real money flowing into the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Pluralism And The Problem Of Religious Diversity There exists a vast number of religions in the world that have their own belief systems and populations of followers that, naturally, gives result to a wide variety of religious diversity. Logically, the problem with this religious diversity is that it is hard to see how they could all be true at any rate. In response to this problem, two solutions have been proposed: pluralism and exclusivism. Pluralism makes a claim that all of the religions are true in their own way where exclusivism, on the other hand, makes the claim that only one religionis true in its beliefs. I will be discussing the differences between exclusivism and pluralism in depth as responses to the problem of religious diversity as well as comparing and contrasting Christianity and Hinduism to make a case for why exclusivism is the correct solution. The first solution to the problem, pluralism, which is advocated by John Hick, offers that, fundamentally, deep down, all of the religions are the same and so are all true in their own way. Hick, in his work titled Who or What is God?, believes that the concept of God can be described as anthropomorphic. That is, as Hick puts it, God is a being like ourselves in the fundamental respect that we are both God and ourselves persons. But whereas we are finite, created, dependent persons, God is an infinite, eternal, uncreated and omnipotent Person. (Hick). He paints a picture of who God is by saying that God s inner nature is beyond the range of our human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Stage 1 Biology Issues Investigation Cells and organisms Hermaphrodite children should not have gender assignment surgery as an infant but should rather have the choice to do so as an adult. Introduction: Believe it or not, hermaphrodites are more common than you would think. But at birth, their parents think they re doing their child a favour by having them undergo surgery to being just one gender rather than both. Is this justified? Are parents and doctors right to do this to the life of a child? What about the child s say? Should they be able to choose whether or not if they want to be one gender when they re an adult? Or should they be forced to live a life as a gender that they may not want to be? Biological background: If you look ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ovarian and testicular tissue may be separate, or the two may be combined in what is called an ovotestis. Affected individuals have sex chromosomes showing male female mosaicism (where one individual possesses both the male XY and female XX chromosome pairs). Most often, but not always, the chromosome complement is 46, XX, and in every such individual there also exists evidence of Y chromosomal material on one of the autosomes (any of the 22 pairs of chromosomes other than the sex chromosomes). Individuals with a 46, XX chromosome complement usually have ambiguous external genitalia with a sizable phallus and are therefore often reared as males. However, they develop breasts during puberty and menstruate and in only rare cases actually produce sperm. In 46, XX intersex (female pseudo hermaphroditism), individuals have male external genitalia but the chromosomal constitution and reproductive organs of a female. In 46, XY (malepseudohermaphroditism), individuals have ambiguous or female external genitalia but the chromosomal constitution and reproductive organs of a male, though the testes may be malformed or absent. • 45. Berlusconi Oral Health Dental health is important for all children, since oral health is vital to overall health. Special needs children may have issues with the mechanics of eating such as chewing or swallowing or with the sensory experiences of eating like textures and temperatures. If your child has problems with having his or her teethor mouth touched it will be helpful to start desensitizing early. Begin as gently as possible, maybe by just touching the lips with something soft. Gradually increase the pressure as it is tolerated. Once the mouth is actually open you can start working on touching the teeth, little by little. Infant toothbrushes that slip on your finger can help. If your child has a therapist you can work on this goal together. Brushing your... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After he was smashed in the face last year with a marble statue, the dental hygienist that he saw became a pivotal figure in recruiting young women for Berlusconi s sex parties. Nicole Minetti also joined Berlusconi s political party and now is a member of the Lombardy regional parliament. However, her primary role with Berlusconi was far less political and more social. Minetti was there with her chest out kissing Berlusconi continuously. It was a real whorehouse. All the girls were given rings and necklaces, reported a police officer on the new revelations of the sex parties. In the 400 page court document, which is primarily concerned with Berlusconi s alleged payments for sex with a minor, the young women at his parties engaged in provocative and lurid behavior. The women stroked themselves and Berlusconi while carrying on stripteases and seductive, lesbian style dances. Karima El Mahroug, the 17 year old Moroccan that Berlusconi is accused of having sex with is supposed to have been taped telling a friend, I told Silvio I wanted five million Euro for all this...he told me he would pay me all I wanted, in gold, but that I should just keep making things up and pretend I m mad but not reveal anything and stay quiet. Berlusconi s term as Prime Minister over the last three years has been hampered by wild tales of sex and outrageous behavior. Increasingly, it seems that the allegations get wilder and wilder, while at the same time becoming more believable. Elections are in 2013, but the odds of Berlusconi making it that long are about as likely as Berlusconi taking a vow of abstinence. She stated that she could no longer tolerate his association with minors. Berlusconi should have taken the hint then. For more on foolishness in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Importance Of Fostering A Winning Culture Fostering a Winning Culture The purpose of this paper is to discuss how sergeants major can influence changing the culture within the United State Army Recruiting Command (USAREC). Soldiers at all levels within USAREC deal with the constant pressures of mission accomplishment and often do not realize or do not feel appreciation for their efforts. It perceived by many Soldiers within USAREC that their leadership often, uses aggressive communication within their formations and this often hinders the development of cohesive teams. When I first came into the recruiting in 1999 there were several recruiting incentives that recognized a recruiter s performance and not just the recruiter s performance, but the performance at all levels, recruiting station recognition, recruiting company recognition, recruiting battalion recognition and so on. These recognitions once within doctrine took form in awards such as, the recruiter gold badge of excellence, the recruiter ring, and culminated with those who truly became an expert in the skill with the Glen E. Morrell award. In 2010 these types of award programs ended. Senior leaders considered them ineffective goals to motivate soldiers to bring their A game or their highest level of performance. This was a point of time of great success for the recruiting command, the economy had fallen, the unemployment rate was hovering around ten percent, and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan seemed to be ending. Hence the idea that the recruiting mission had become easy and these types of incentives where unnecessary. It was not just the incentives that went away, though the recognition leaders verbally gave to subordinates when they did something stopped as well. Effective praise had always been a key part of motivating soldiers within the Recruiting Command but the culture had changed and we stopped recognizing people not just with trinkets or awards, but with simple personal recognition of how they were doing ... • 47. Comparing The Silk Road Trials And Triumphs Silk Road Trials and Triumphs Traders prospered from the Silk Road, but they had to overcome the many dangers along the route before they could gain their wealth. These challenges, ranging from human to natural, made trading along the Silk Road a more difficult task. In order to be successful, merchants were required to be innovative and adapt to the conditions. Much of the Silk Road route is over trying terrain, such as high altitude mountains and arid deserts that stretch for miles. The mountain ranges along the trail include Tienshan, Hindu Kush, Mongolian Altai, and Pamir , and traders had to search for passes to get through them because they were too steep and tall to climb over. Even so, the passes were not much safer than the peaks, such as an account of a traveler through one of these passes:The barrier formed by the Suspended Crossing is such that it cannot be easily traversed. There is a path that is 20 inches wide, that leads forward for a length of twelve miles, overlooking a precipice whose depth is unfathomed. Travelers passing on horse or foot hold on to one another and pull each other along with ropes. When animals fall, before they have dropped half way down the chasm they are shattered in pieces; and when men fall, the situation is such that they are unable to rescue one another .
