Secretary Of The Treasury Essay
The Department of the Treasury is the executive department that deals largely with creating policies
that will be beneficial to the United States economy and the government s finances. The
responsibilities of the Department of the Treasury include paying the bills for the federal government,
collecting taxes from the citizens, borrowing and lending money, creating currency, and supervising
the national banks (Sidlow). The duties of the secretary of the treasury affect all United States citizens
everyday lives due to the fact that he or she is dealing with all taxes and currency in the nation.
Anyone who is receiving benefits from the federal government would be affected by changes or
creation of any policies. The secretary of the treasury ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The secretary of defense, who heads the Department of Defense, comes second in power over the
military. The first and most important job of the secretary of defense is to keep the country protected
from terrorist attacks. We often take for granted the security of our nation, but there are people
working around the clock in order to keep the country safe. Next, the department of defense also
locates and punishes any terrorists who attack which is a difficult and dangerous task. As the secretary
of defense, it is his or her duty to ensure that each branch in the United States military is well trained
and prepared for any obstacle that they may face whether it be planned or unforeseen. The secretary of
defense also ensures that these men and women in the armed forces are well equipped to do their jobs
(Ruffin). There seems to be a high failure rate among those who have served as the secretary of
defense. Are these secretaries actually failing at their job, or are they reaching toward the impossible
goal of trying to keep each and every American citizen safe from terrorist attacks on our nation? Many
of these secretaries are let go by the president due to a lack of confidence in them (Stevenson). The
ideal secretary of defense would need to be skilled in politics, leadership, relationships, and many
other areas, but someone who is exceptional in all areas would be nearly impossible to find. Because
perfecting the position as secretary of defense is nearly impossible since the safety of the entire nation
is in their hands, we often see this resulting in disappointment toward the

Essay about Organization Structures
Organization Structures The mechanistic view of an organization began with the industrial revolution.
The view is a reflection of society s radical change from a rural agricultural base to one more
impersonally based on centralized urban industry employing great numbers of people. The first
changes began in the late 1600 s and early 1700 s with rudimentary machines replacing manual labor
or accomplishing things not previously possible because of size, weight, or sheer numbers. The
greatest industrial growth was during the 1800 s period, which was exponential at its end and the
outset of our century.
The view and metaphorical analogy of an organization as a machine was the result of the only frame
of reference available at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mechanistic structures are designed to induce people to behave in predictable, accountable ways.
Decision making authority is centralized, subordinates are closely supervised, and information flows
mainly in a vertical direction down a clearly defined hierarchy. In a mechanistic structure the tasks
associated with a role are also clearly defined. There is usually a one to one correspondence between a
person and a task (figure 1 depicts this). Each person is individually specialized and knows exactly
what he or she is responsible for, and behavior inappropriate to the role is discouraged or prohibited.
The mechanistic structure is the traditional or classical design, common in many medium and large
size organizations. Mechanistic organizations are somewhat rigid in that they consist of very clearly
delineated jobs, have a well defined hierarchical structure, and rely heavily on the formal chain of
command for control. Bureaucratic organizations, with their emphasis on formalization, are the
primary form of mechanistic structures. According to Max Weber, bureaucracy is a form of
organization characterized by a rational, goal directed hierarchy, impersonal decision making, formal
controls, and subdivision into managerial positions and specialization of labor. Bureaucratic
organizations are tall consisting of hierarchies with many levels of management. In a tall structure,
people become relatively confined to their

Anger Between Anger And Anger
Anger can be defined in a multitude of ways, as well as seen in a variety of different perspectives.
Anger can most commonly be defined as a feeling of tension and hostility that may have been caused
by anxiety due to unwanted actions from someone or something that is perceived to be offensive,
threatening, or against one s beliefs. (1) Witnessing this emotion typically leads to an emotional
reaction that can be seen as extreme rage, displeasure, and hostility. This is caused because when one
is angry, you instantly feel the urge to retaliate back. It is very commonly believed that anger emerges
from people that we do not commonly associate ourselves with on a personal level. This could be your
boss, an acquaintance you may have, or even a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This allows for the person to be put out of the danger because you took the action to keep them safe.
Another way that expressing anger can be seen as a positive feeling is that it can be used as a
reinforcer. After doing further studying, it was able to be inferred that reinforcement is more beneficial
than punishment. This can be shown through the action of expressing anger. When your child does not
do their chores, it is expected that a parent becomes angry when their child to do what they are told.
When the parent expresses their anger towards their child, it overcomes the child and helps to
reinforce the rule of doing their chores. By displaying anger to the child, it will allow them to learn
that they need to follow the rules because they do not want to see their parent with that tone anymore.
(Becourtney, 2006 2011) Anger can also be seen as a positive feeling because it allows people to
overcome a state of hurt. All anger does not consist of throwing things, being physically violent, and
speaking loudly. Expressing anger can also be expressed by isolating oneself from someone because
they are hurt. Furthermore, when someone passes away many people go through the dwelling stage.
You can experience something similar when dealing with anger. In the positive aspect anger allows
one to express feelings that they may have been holding in from a person. This allows for solutions to
the problem to be solved. (American

Essay On Abigail Adams
With the increase in popularity of the musical Hamilton: An American Musical, the stories of the
founding fathers are getting told. However, though there are a few females mentioned in the musical,
none of them made as much of an impact and deserve as much credit as Abigail Adams. Born Abigail
Smith in 1744, she grew up in Massachusetts with a decently wealthy family, which resulted in the
opportunity to obtain a good education. Though she was schooled at home, she read all she could and
took an interest in knowledge and politics early in her life, which only grew with her marriage to John
Adams (Martinez). With this marriage, she became involved in a great deal of politics, and therefore
had influence, which she most commonly used in her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Abigail herself educated a free black boy, and even defended herself when she was attacked for it. In a
private defense of her actions to John Adams, she explains her reasoning for doing this, saying: The
Boy is a Freeman as much as any of the young Men, and merely because his Face is Black, is he to be
denied instruction? How is he to be qualified to procure a livelihood? Is this the Christian principle of
doing to others, as we would have others do to us? (Adams, Abigail 13 February 1797). This piece of
the letter ensures two facts: that Abigail is an advocator for justice, and that she is an advocator for
Christianity. However, unlike many people at the time, her advocacy for justice speaks much louder
than her Christian advocacy.
One of Abigail s other main focuses was female empowerment, and not just through education: she
recognized the effectiveness of her own power around the home, and wanted other women to use their
potential as well. One of Abigail s most notable positions of power was her relationship not only with
her husband, John Adams, but also his presidential successor, Thomas Jefferson. Abigail not only had
relationships with both of them, but also served as a key witness to what life was like in the colonies
and out of congress, both domestically and politically (Adams, Abigail 1 July 1804). She also used
this position to speak out against

Created to support this document is a self assessment tool for each Emergency Model of Care. The
purpose of the tool is to allow Local Health Districts to assess if a MOC is appropriate for their ED or
if an implemented MOC is functioning to its utmost potential. The tool is intended to be used at an ED
level in a collaborative approach with all key stakeholders. The Self Assessment tool rates the
effectiveness of each model. Results of the self assessment are then linked to responses based on the
key principles described for each MOC. A robust evaluation of each model can be used to generate an
action plan for an ED to improve the functioning of current Models of Care being used, or to consider
the implementation of new models. Assess the current Models of Care in their Emergency
Departments using the given criteria It is recognised that not all of the Models of Emergency Care are
applicable for all NSW Emergency Departments. Decisions to implement them will be made based on

Should Cancer Patients Use Nanotechnology Essay
Should Cancer Patients use Nanotechnology?
Did you know that about 1,688,780 new types of cancer have been found in the United States, killing
more than 600,920 people? Cancer has been known as the second leading cause of death in the United
States just after Chronic Heart Disease. Fortunately, researchers have found a way to prevent and cure
cancer and that is by using Nanotechnology. Nanotechnology is a branch in the science field that deals
with dimensions less than 100 nanometers, which is about a billionth of a meter. Furthermore,
scientists predict that Nanotechnology can lead to a breakthrough in the medical field of Oncology.
Not only that, but researchers have now found a way to tune the nanoparticles so that the ... Show

Therefore, the drug presented in the microbot can produce more RNA to help defeat the cancerous
cells and tumors.
Lastly, Nanotechnology can help doctors find cancer cells in a patient and they have the opportunity to
give early medications to the patients diagnosed with cancer. Currently, doctors can use
Nanotechnology to detect the minuscule cancer tumors present in millimeters of saliva and blood. As
illustrated in the research done by the Stanford University, We can now detect just a few cancer
associated molecules or circulating tumor cells in the body in just a few milliliters of blood or saliva,
or map the boundaries of a brain tumor within millimeters to assess its response to therapy or to plan a
surgery, Rajiv Gambhir said. We ve specially designed nanoparticles that can send back a massively
amplified, whopping signal when they bind to cancer cells in the colon, and we re working on ways to
trigger the self assembly of nanoparticles when they enter a cancer cell. The field has advanced
tremendously in the past 10 to 15 years (Gambhir). Therefore, if doctors can detect cancer tumors or
cancer cells in the body, then they can offer required diagnostics and early treatment to the patient
before the tumor develops and starts to multiply. As shown above, cancer can be detected when it is at
an early stage

The Importance Of Equality Development Program Is A Key...
Participation process to create fairness development program is a key for sustainability development.
The development especially in village level or rural area should not make the people as the object of
development. Although majority people who live in the village or rural are poor, youth and women,
they are rarely involved in decision making process. They could not deliver their ideas or opinions
because they could not have resources and opportunities (Oakley 1991). Marginal group on
development process in the rural community may reluctant to participate because the participation
method usually tends to become a one way communication therefore marginal group in community
should be able to identify their strength (Minkler 1997) to be able to contribute in development
process. Rural area in Indonesia especially marginal group has high illiterate or they had primary
education only (Dhanani and Islam 2002). However, the data and information about the potential asset
in the rural is commonly presented by statistical which rarely encourage people to learn about the
meaning of information. A proper participation method is needed to strengthen the capability of the
marginal group and community in rural area. Nowadays, Geographical Information System (GIS) is
popular tool to use in participation process by using visual data and information which may be easier
to interpret by the rural community. In order to deeper understanding about community participation,

Why College Athletes Should Get Paid And Why They Shouldn t
November 18, 2014
Ebeling 2
Intro:
How much harder would athletes work if they were paid for their performance on the field, track, or
court? College athletes are put to the test each and everyday, they risk their health to entertain millions
day in and day out. College athletes deserve part of the money due to the revenue they bring in for
their schools and for the NCAA, they deserve the money because they do not have time to get a job
because they are practicing and training at least 40 hours a week, they should also get paid because
they are used as marketing models for the ncaa and for their universities. College athletes also should
not get paid because they are already getting paid in scholarship money. College athletes deserve to
get paid because they are putting their bodies on the line just so the NCAA and their sponsors can
make money.
Lit Review:
Throughout my paper I will demonstrate many different ideas on whether college athletes should get
paid why they should not. I will talk about the things paying the athletes will do for the NCAA, how it
is unfair for athletes to be used and not get anything out of those moments, and they generate revenue
for the NCAA just on certain players presence. I will also talk about why college athletes should not
get paid. They

Gonorrhe Sexually Transmitted Infection
Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted infection that can infect both men and women equally. The
infection is found most commonly within the youth between ages fifteen and twenty four years old. It
can cause infections to the throat, male and female genitalia, and the rectum. Gonorrhea can be spread
through sexual contact. Oral, anal, and vaginal sex are all ways to be infected if one was to have
unprotected sex with another person.
A woman who is pregnant and becomes infected with gonorrhea can possibly infect her child if not
treated promptly. The infection can be transferred to the offspring through childbirth. One can avoid
contracting gonorrhea or any other sexually transmitted infection by not having sex and remaining
abstinent. Other ways to avoid contracting the infection are by remaining in a monogamous
relationship with a partner who has also been tested and is sure not to have the infection. One other
way is to use a latex condom properly each time one engages in sexual intercourse. ... Show more

Essay On Republican Party
The United States population is spread out across a spectrum of the political ideologies. We are
typically seen as being on the left , also called liberals, or on the right , called conservatives. The two
main political parties in our country are the Democrats, whose supporters are typically on the left, and
the Republicans, whose supporters are on the right. These parties and their policies, however, are
becoming more polarized and are attracting the more extreme members of their party and not the
moderate voters, which make up the majority of the voters. By setting policies that the moderate
voters would agree with can help political parties gain more voters, as long as they do not lean too far
away from their base groups, or their strongest and more extreme voters. Republicans would gain
supporters by changing their policies on free trade agreements, immigration, healthcare, and wall
street to those that are more similar to the most of the public. These supporters would come from the
moderate voters, like the hard pressed skeptics and the young outsiders, and some of the other liberal
groups, like the next generation left and the faith and family left. Today the Republican party wants to
repeal all free trade agreements. This is in contrast with the majority of the general population, in
which 59% believe that free trade agreements are good for our nation and 30% believe that they are
bad. The Democrats on the other hand support most of the agreements that are around

However, the higher number of properties managed by the corporate branded hotels could have
provided a larger base and more similar styled options for multi property stays by guests compared to
the lower base of those in the individually branded categories like Rosewood. The distinct
personalities of each Rosewood property may ironically limit multi property stays due to each
property s own merits. Thus, Rosewood s data of 5% guests who had stayed in more than one of its
properties may not necessarily be an inferior indicator in relation to that of Four Seasons 9% rate.
The corporate branded hotels market penetration was also supported by the loyalty programme
machinery. The frequent stay programme grew by 12% in guest enrolment in 2003 according to a
research conducted by the Market Matrix. Such programmes could potentially double the rate of
returning guests. Even though not all major brands adopted this approach, its existence made it
tougher to change consumer behaviours and prevent any new market entrants to present themselves as
reasonable viable product substitutes for a major part of the penetrated market share. Coincidentally, a
group with a larger number of properties would also provide a bigger option pool and accessibility for
guests to maximise their returns through such programmes. Although John Scott deemed such an
initiative as irrelevant to Rosewood s course, this marketing strategy would still present itself as

Investigators can use a variety of equipment to search for someone online, find out if they re in prison,

who will conduct their own investigation that can lead to the person being arrested.
The investigator will use a variety of tools to learn all the information they can about the fraudster

The Use Of Diuretics And Its Effects On Quality Of Life
While laxatives may be necessary for short term, acute cases of constipation, they are contraindicated
for long term use. Overuse of laxatives can cause a reduction in colon motility, diarrhea, and
incontinence (Day et al., 2014). This leads a cycle of chronically alternating constipation and diarrhea
that significantly affects quality of life. Over use of laxatives is also associated with dehydration,
tachycardia, and electrolyte imbalances. These side effects not only affect quality of life but can
exacerbate other comorbid medical conditions (Day et al., 2014).
Non pharmacological interventions are much safer. Most have few to no side effects. In the dietary
fiber studies mentioned above, gastrointestinal symptoms were the only side effects reported, and even
those were not significantly different than the symptoms reported by the placebo group (Gallegos
Orozco et al, 2011; Lever, Cole, J., Scott, Emery, Whelan, 2014; Yang et al., 2012). Even patients
without constipation, and those with diarrhea symptoms have healthier bowel movements with an
increase in dietary fiber (Rodrigues Fisher et al., 1993). Exercise, probiotics, biofeedback, and
education likewise have no negative side effects, and can even positively affect other chronic health
conditions.
Concurrent Use
Non pharmacological treatment of constipation is not only effective and safe; it also coexists well with
pharmacological treatment of constipation. Non pharmacological interventions do not interfere with

Different Stages Of Cell Division
1) Cell division is typically explained through the progression of 4 distinct phases, G1, S, G2, and M,
and can be tracked through CDK complex concentration ranges. CDKs are cyclin dependent kinases,
which regulate the cell cycle of eukaryotic cells; as suggested by the name, protein kinases are an
enzyme that is dependent on cyclin for the regulation of cell division through the addition of
phosphate groups. The different stages of the cell cycle correlate with different levels of cyclin and act
as a threshold that once reached, triggers a phase transition. For example, for a cell to move out of G2
phase into M phase, Cyclin B interacts with the CDK1 complex, and causes phosphorylation to
stimulate the phase shift; however, if the stage is not complete, the whole process slows down to
accommodate the discrepancy in CDK complexes (Nelson Education, figure 9.17, page 191). This can
be caused by several things, such as the presence of damaged or deformed DNA, or externally through
contact inhibition, where a delay in phase shift is caused by partial or incomplete contact of all cells. If
there is only partial cell contact, contact inhibition will typically prevent progression past the G1
phase until there is complete cell contact, which can be reflected in variable levels of the CDK
complex(Nelson Education, page 191). Overall, CDK regulates cell division through the combination
of CDK and cyclin, the activation of protein via a phosphate group that triggers a phase change,

Consequently, SHM systems are basically used to monitor the structures behavior during the events of
vibrations or natural excitation (earthquakes, winds and live loading). Moreover, in 2002 some
building design codes mandate that structures should have an installation of a structural health
monitoring system especially those located in high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The following paragraphs discuss a review on SHM basically monitoring bridge performance. The
first example is the monitoring of the Tsing Ma Bridge and Kap Shui Mun Bridge in Hong Kong [10].
A large amount of sensors include temperature sensors, strain gauges, displacement, anemometer, and
accelerometers were installed on the bridge. These sensors were installed to monitor the bridge
dynamic response in terms of displacement, acceleration, wind, and temperature. Approximately 320
channels of sensors were used in Tsing Ma Bridge [11].These sensors produced about 65 M Bytes of
data every hour in an attempt toward in depth monitoring. This SHM system was able to monitor the
structural health of the bridge and provide reliable information for civil engineers to plan accordingly
for inspection visits.
Another example of SHM is the Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge located in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
That long term SHM system included 84 accelerometers channels [12]. This system was installed to
evaluate the dynamic response of the bridge under seismic activities.
One of the eminent examples of infrastructure SHM is that of the Golden Gate Bridge in San
Francisco, California. The SHM system deployed 28 accelerometers where 12 of them were located
on the main span, 6 on the side span and 10 on the pier lower

Essay about Ur and Djoser
Ziggurat of Ur and Stepped Pyramid of Djoser: A Comparison Joseph Katz Art History 100 26 Dr.
Karl F. Schuler
10/6/11
Title: Ziggurat of Ur
Period: Neo Sumerian
Provenance: Ur, Iraq
Date: 2150 BC
The Ziggurat of Ur was built in 2150 BC by the Gutians. First, let s discuss what exactly a ziggurat is.
A ziggurat is a superstructure built on top and around a mountain. On the very top was a temple.
Ziggurats were made out of only mud brick. One may ask, why use mud brick? Compared to other
materials such as limestone it is a terribly weak building material. The reason was because of the
location of Ur. Ur did not have limestone anywhere near it so mud brick was the practical choice.
Viewed from the outside, the giant mud ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were also tunnels leading to hundreds of rooms. This was not merely a tomb but also a place
where King Djoser could live in the afterlife. The pyramid was built in the middle of a necropolis,
which literally means, city of the dead in Greek. Surrounding the necropolis is a limestone wall to
keep out everyone except a very select few. There were many other structures in the necropolis such
as: Temples, courtyards, and pavilions. However, most of the buildings were filled with rubble or sand
and were just for show. The building of pyramids kept all of the people in the surrounding cities busy
and working. These kinds of structures were great for Egyptian economy. There are many similarities
and differences between the Ziggurat of Ur, and Stepped Pyramid of Djoser. Each level of the Stepped
Pyramid bears a structural resemblance to the Ziggurat of Ur. While the two structures may look
slightly a like they re purposes are very different. Stepped Pyramid of Djoser is a tomb for the fallen
King, and the Ziggurat of Ur in a temple. The Pyramid was set in a necropolis with a big surrounding
wall while the Ziggurat was built in the center of a city and was very open and welcoming. Another
big difference is the building materials. The Pyramid was built out of durable limestone while the
Ziggurat was built out of flimsy mud brick. The Ziggurat temple was washed away by years of sand
abuse while the

How Did Walt Disney Influence The World
Whenever I go on a ride, I m always thinking of what s wrong with the thing and how it can be
improved (Walt Disney). This quote sums up Walt Disney because all he ever did was look at how he
can make something better. He looked at things in a different way than others, and would think
differently than others. Walt Disney was an American motion picture and television producer, who is
famous as a pioneer for cartoons, and the co founder of Walt Disney Productions, and drastically
influenced the modern day animated cartoons and the film industry. Walt Disney was born on
December 5, 1901 in Hermosa Illinois. His father Elias Disney was of irish canadian descent. His
mother Flora Call Disney was of german american descent. He had four siblings, three brothers and

Professional Sports Teams Move Essay
Professional Sports Teams Move Cities Fight To Keep Them nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;
nbsp;Professional sports, like most of our popular culture, can be understood only partly by through its
exiting plays and tremendous athletes. Baseball and football most of all are not only games anymore
but also hardcore businesses. As businesses, sports leagues can be as conniving, deceitful, and
manipulative as any other businesses in the world. No matter what the circumstances are, it seems that
Politicians are always some how right around the corner from the world of sports. These Politicians
look to exploit both the cultural and the economic dimensions of the sports for their own purposes.
This is what is known in the sports industry as playing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This type of political confrontations enables teams to control debate, leaving city officials playing
defense. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Possibly those who are most effected by the sport s industry s
willingness to abandon a community are the dedicated fans. When Al Davis moved the Oakland
Raiders to Los Angeles, he pulled away from some of sport s most loyal fans and also hurt his football
team. The NFL s Colts and Cardinals have also had failures on the field since their moves. These three
teams are proof that all the greed that was put into the moving of their franchises hasn t brought them
more success or in some cases less success. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;In every move there are two
sides to the politics. There are the teams themselves and there are the cities that fight to keep them. In
May 1991, Sharon Pratt Dixon, Mayor of Washington, D.C. said, We re going to do whatever it takes
to keep the Redskins here. Sports has become an industry, and to the extent that we can guarantee jobs
for the District residents, we will do whatever it takes, including building the stadium ourselves
(Euchner 1), this is one view of how a city official fights for a team. The other viewpoint is from the
side of the team owner, Al Davis, managing general partner of the Raiders said, just build it (Euchner

A Report On The s The Great Gatsby By F. Scott...
Three Months earlier.
He had finished with his business in Anchorage, so he decided to catch a plane back to Portland a few
days early. He was going to surprise Natalie. Take her out to an early dinner; Champagne and
candlelight, back to their place for a night of love making, slip the ring into her breakfast and ask her
to be his forever.
It was going to be the perfect surprise. He would make sure of it. But first, he needed to take a shower
and change out of his traveling clothes.
He was surprised to see her car parked in the driveway to their home, since she was normally out at
this time of day. There was another car there too. Maybe it was the car that belonged to the friend she

Capacit Capacity
The process analytics simulation that we started in class was an interesting and practical
demonstration and actual application of process flow analysis. The first problem which we performed
in small groups within the class, was laid out very simply as a set of sequential processes, each with
individual characteristics, that are ordered in pre determined process that when complete, produces
one production unit. The initial concepts demonstrated were those of cycle time, throughput, capacity,
utilization and bottleneck. Cycle time reflects the average time it takes for units to complete the
process once the process gets running. (Leonard, 2007, p. 10). Generally the cycle time will be
determined by the longest process in a sequential flow. Throughput is the amount of time it takes to
complete the first unit. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Leonard, 2007, p. 11) Utilization is the mathematical calculation of process throughput over process
capacity with the average of the individual process utilization rates being the overall utilization rate.
(Leonard, 2007, p. 18) . The utilization rate was the hardest for the group to grasp until they
effectively understood that the bottleneck, the process that limits the overall capacity of the system
being measured (Leonard, 2007, p. 18), is always the process that is running at 100% utilization, and
all other processes utilization is calculated on the basis of this bottleneck process. The remainder of
problem 1 in the simulation was emphasizing the importance identifying the bottleneck and
calculating the effects of changing the process when you change the bottleneck and when you change
other factors. If you affect the bottleneck than you effect process. If the bottleneck remains unchanged
than the overall efficiency of the process does not

Essay on Crew Resource Management (Aviation)
In this day Crew Resource Management (CRM) is strongly evident within the aviation industry.
Having developed a positive reputation over the years of its application, it is highly recognised as an
icon for safety practices among many major operators. Airline operators and wider aviation industries
adopt CRM, on a global scale, to attain the desired goal of influencing flight crew members to operate
more safely and effectively as one co operative unit (rather than as individuals). The positive
application of crew resource management envisages minimised risks and consequently, safer skies for

Fifty seconds after reaching their assigned altitude, Captain Loft required First Officer Stockstill s
assistance in removing the nose wheel indicator light assembly to investigate the likeliness of a blown
light bulb and hence, instructed him to engage the autopilot at 2000 feet. For the next eighty seconds
the plane maintained level flight. Then it dropped one hundred feet (30 m), and then again flew level
for two more minutes, after which it began a descent so gradual it could not be perceived by the crew.
In the next seventy seconds, the plane lost only 250 feet (76 m), but this was enough to trigger the
altitude warning C chord chime located under the engineer s workstation. The engineer (or Second
Officer) had gone below deck following Loft s instructions, and there was no indication by the pilot s
voices recorded on the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) that the warning chime was acknowledged. In
another fifty seconds, the plane was at half its assigned altitude. The CVR recorded the last few
moments of conversation between the crew, acknowledging the change in altitude: Stockstill: We did
something to the altitude. Loft: What? Stockstill: We re still at 2,000 feet, right? Loft: Hey what s
happening here? (NTSB, 1973) Official observations find a probable cause of this accident to be the
insufficiencies of flight crew to properly monitor flight instruments

Taking a Look at Hydras and Flatworms
PART 1:
Q 1. Hydra can move from one place to another by flexing the body and gripping the substrate with
the tentacles and then looping the body over the mouth to gain a new position. Explain exactly what
mechanisms and principles are involved in this movement? The full answer to this question involves
the hydrostatic skeleton formed by the gastrovascular cavity and contractile cells. [5 6 sentences]
The movement of hydra is called looping/somersaulting. This movement is possible due to the
presence of a hydrostatic skeleton. This fluid filled chamber can be bent and moulded into different
shapes. When the muscle cells (longitudinal and circular) contract, hydrostatic fluid from the gastro
vascular cavity (GVC) is squeezed in a certain direction (depending on type of muscle cell). The
contraction of longitudinal muscles cells leads to hydrostatic fluid from the GVC in an outwards and
downwards direction, this makes the hydra seem compressed. When the circular muscle cells contract
(squeezing the GVC from the sides) the hydrostatic liquid is forced in an upwards manner, this in turn
elongates the hydra. A combination of elongation and compression allows itself to somersault itself to
a new position.
Q 2. What reasons can you think of that might limit this type of body form to aquatic systems? [5 6
sentences]
Being a freshwater dwelling organism, the obvious source of the hydrostatic fluid in the gastro
vascular cavity for the hydra is from its surroundings

Colonial Identity
The English colonies each had their own identity/name. Despite having their different names, religious
beliefs, laws, and economic activity, the colonies all had one common link which was the country of
Great Britain. All the colonies had to officially claim their identities by getting a character from the
King of Great Britain, and all 13 were generally under British rule. During the 17th and 18th centuries
the colonists began to make agreements and compacts regarding unification to benefit the general
colonial population. The colonies were striving to become unified with each other, but some clones
had different approaches toward unity that did not coincide with other colonists beliefs. However,

Hidden Figures And Bend It Like Beckham Film Analysis
How is the theme of perseverance in Hidden Figures and Bend it like Beckham used to influence
viewers and how are cinematic techniques applied to achieve this? The movies Hidden Figures, and
Bend it like Beckham, directed by Theodore Melfi and Gurinder Chadha respectively, both explore the
dangers that are inherent in a marginalised society. Each text demonstrates that hope for change is
needed in society as it can build the momentum for an individual to strive. Through the use of
cinematic techniques, it can be observed that people have no conscience about harming others until
they learn the truth about their circumstances. This is depicted by the way in which Jess coach Joe

The Great Depression Influenced Women s Fashion
Introduction:
Throughout the 1920s through the 1950s Women s clothing in America was affected by World War II,
which lead to the exploration of different styles, the encounter of new trends and the exchange of ideas
and new styles.
Historical Context:
In the 1920s there were many events that happened but one of the main events was the 1920s bathing
suit arrest. There were multiple arrest made for the look, but no names were giving. The rule for
bathing suits back then was that swim suits had to cover everything if you were a woman, men
however were not allowed to take off their shirts until 1993. The bathing suits for women were like
dresses and stockings. The 1920s also had some gender roles which caused companies grew larger and
wages increased and new things were able to be bought. ( Arrested for Bathing Suits ).
In the 1930s the Great Depression influenced women s fashion because they needed to save money
and they had to reuse a fair amount of materials from their old clothes. The 1930s also had gender
roles, most people were employed but they were not the best jobs. They had low paying jobs. The
women needed a full education while the men only graduated from elementary school. There were no
equal rights. Women did everything, for example, they did everything at home, they made dinner,
made sure the house was clean, they needed to look presentable after work for their husbands, and
they had to work at the house especially during the Great

The Impact Of Air Bags On The Field Of Biomechanics Along...
Contributions with the field of biomechanics along with advancements in technology have led to
improvements in the general and public safety pertaining to motor vehicles. Air bags have reduced
mortality rates in motor vehicle accidents significantly throughout the years. Air bags have undergone
development for many years, first being introduced in the 1960 s with the release of the first
commercial air bag in the 1980 s appearing in motor vehicles. Air bags have been a subject of research
and tests throughout the years currently still evolving. Through studies and research collected, air bags
have shown to be a beneficial innovation to the health and safety of the public. Air bags are intended
to provide maximum protection to driver and passenger occupants during a collision. Head, neck, and
chest body regions are considered most vulnerable to severe trauma (Pintar, Yoganandan, Gennarelli,
2000) . An air bag is rapidly inflated during the impact of a collision. It is intended to serve as a
cushion to the driver or passenger to prevent or reduce severe injury. We know that moving objects
possess a momentum. The product of the mass and velocity of an object equals its momentum.
Newton s first law of motion states that an object will continue to move in its speed and direction
unless forces are acted upon. The vehicle itself along with the passengers inside represents a moving
object. Passengers inside, unless restrained or acted upon will continue moving at the speed of

  • 2. Secretary Of The Treasury Essay The Department of the Treasury is the executive department that deals largely with creating policies that will be beneficial to the United States economy and the government s finances. The responsibilities of the Department of the Treasury include paying the bills for the federal government, collecting taxes from the citizens, borrowing and lending money, creating currency, and supervising the national banks (Sidlow). The duties of the secretary of the treasury affect all United States citizens everyday lives due to the fact that he or she is dealing with all taxes and currency in the nation. Anyone who is receiving benefits from the federal government would be affected by changes or creation of any policies. The secretary of the treasury ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The secretary of defense, who heads the Department of Defense, comes second in power over the military. The first and most important job of the secretary of defense is to keep the country protected from terrorist attacks. We often take for granted the security of our nation, but there are people working around the clock in order to keep the country safe. Next, the department of defense also locates and punishes any terrorists who attack which is a difficult and dangerous task. As the secretary of defense, it is his or her duty to ensure that each branch in the United States military is well trained and prepared for any obstacle that they may face whether it be planned or unforeseen. The secretary of defense also ensures that these men and women in the armed forces are well equipped to do their jobs (Ruffin). There seems to be a high failure rate among those who have served as the secretary of defense. Are these secretaries actually failing at their job, or are they reaching toward the impossible goal of trying to keep each and every American citizen safe from terrorist attacks on our nation? Many of these secretaries are let go by the president due to a lack of confidence in them (Stevenson). The ideal secretary of defense would need to be skilled in politics, leadership, relationships, and many other areas, but someone who is exceptional in all areas would be nearly impossible to find. Because perfecting the position as secretary of defense is nearly impossible since the safety of the entire nation is in their hands, we often see this resulting in disappointment toward the ... • 3. Essay about Organization Structures Organization Structures The mechanistic view of an organization began with the industrial revolution. The view is a reflection of society s radical change from a rural agricultural base to one more impersonally based on centralized urban industry employing great numbers of people. The first changes began in the late 1600 s and early 1700 s with rudimentary machines replacing manual labor or accomplishing things not previously possible because of size, weight, or sheer numbers. The greatest industrial growth was during the 1800 s period, which was exponential at its end and the outset of our century. The view and metaphorical analogy of an organization as a machine was the result of the only frame of reference available at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mechanistic structures are designed to induce people to behave in predictable, accountable ways. Decision making authority is centralized, subordinates are closely supervised, and information flows mainly in a vertical direction down a clearly defined hierarchy. In a mechanistic structure the tasks associated with a role are also clearly defined. There is usually a one to one correspondence between a person and a task (figure 1 depicts this). Each person is individually specialized and knows exactly what he or she is responsible for, and behavior inappropriate to the role is discouraged or prohibited. The mechanistic structure is the traditional or classical design, common in many medium and large size organizations. Mechanistic organizations are somewhat rigid in that they consist of very clearly delineated jobs, have a well defined hierarchical structure, and rely heavily on the formal chain of command for control. Bureaucratic organizations, with their emphasis on formalization, are the primary form of mechanistic structures. According to Max Weber, bureaucracy is a form of organization characterized by a rational, goal directed hierarchy, impersonal decision making, formal controls, and subdivision into managerial positions and specialization of labor. Bureaucratic organizations are tall consisting of hierarchies with many levels of management. In a tall structure, people become relatively confined to their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Anger Between Anger And Anger Anger can be defined in a multitude of ways, as well as seen in a variety of different perspectives. Anger can most commonly be defined as a feeling of tension and hostility that may have been caused by anxiety due to unwanted actions from someone or something that is perceived to be offensive, threatening, or against one s beliefs. (1) Witnessing this emotion typically leads to an emotional reaction that can be seen as extreme rage, displeasure, and hostility. This is caused because when one is angry, you instantly feel the urge to retaliate back. It is very commonly believed that anger emerges from people that we do not commonly associate ourselves with on a personal level. This could be your boss, an acquaintance you may have, or even a ... Another way that expressing anger can be seen as a positive feeling is that it can be used as a reinforcer. After doing further studying, it was able to be inferred that reinforcement is more beneficial than punishment. This can be shown through the action of expressing anger. When your child does not do their chores, it is expected that a parent becomes angry when their child to do what they are told. When the parent expresses their anger towards their child, it overcomes the child and helps to reinforce the rule of doing their chores. By displaying anger to the child, it will allow them to learn that they need to follow the rules because they do not want to see their parent with that tone anymore. (Becourtney, 2006 2011) Anger can also be seen as a positive feeling because it allows people to overcome a state of hurt. All anger does not consist of throwing things, being physically violent, and speaking loudly. Expressing anger can also be expressed by isolating oneself from someone because they are hurt. Furthermore, when someone passes away many people go through the dwelling stage. You can experience something similar when dealing with anger. In the positive aspect anger allows one to express feelings that they may have been holding in from a person. This allows for solutions to the problem to be solved. (American ... • 5. Essay On Abigail Adams With the increase in popularity of the musical Hamilton: An American Musical, the stories of the founding fathers are getting told. However, though there are a few females mentioned in the musical, none of them made as much of an impact and deserve as much credit as Abigail Adams. Born Abigail Smith in 1744, she grew up in Massachusetts with a decently wealthy family, which resulted in the opportunity to obtain a good education. Though she was schooled at home, she read all she could and took an interest in knowledge and politics early in her life, which only grew with her marriage to John Adams (Martinez). With this marriage, she became involved in a great deal of politics, and therefore had influence, which she most commonly used in her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Abigail herself educated a free black boy, and even defended herself when she was attacked for it. In a private defense of her actions to John Adams, she explains her reasoning for doing this, saying: The Boy is a Freeman as much as any of the young Men, and merely because his Face is Black, is he to be denied instruction? How is he to be qualified to procure a livelihood? Is this the Christian principle of doing to others, as we would have others do to us? (Adams, Abigail 13 February 1797). This piece of the letter ensures two facts: that Abigail is an advocator for justice, and that she is an advocator for Christianity. However, unlike many people at the time, her advocacy for justice speaks much louder than her Christian advocacy. One of Abigail s other main focuses was female empowerment, and not just through education: she recognized the effectiveness of her own power around the home, and wanted other women to use their potential as well. One of Abigail s most notable positions of power was her relationship not only with her husband, John Adams, but also his presidential successor, Thomas Jefferson. Abigail not only had relationships with both of them, but also served as a key witness to what life was like in the colonies and out of congress, both domestically and politically (Adams, Abigail 1 July 1804). She also used this position to speak out against ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Therefore, the drug presented in the microbot can produce more RNA to help defeat the cancerous cells and tumors. Lastly, Nanotechnology can help doctors find cancer cells in a patient and they have the opportunity to give early medications to the patients diagnosed with cancer. Currently, doctors can use Nanotechnology to detect the minuscule cancer tumors present in millimeters of saliva and blood. As illustrated in the research done by the Stanford University, We can now detect just a few cancer associated molecules or circulating tumor cells in the body in just a few milliliters of blood or saliva, or map the boundaries of a brain tumor within millimeters to assess its response to therapy or to plan a surgery, Rajiv Gambhir said. We ve specially designed nanoparticles that can send back a massively amplified, whopping signal when they bind to cancer cells in the colon, and we re working on ways to trigger the self assembly of nanoparticles when they enter a cancer cell. The field has advanced tremendously in the past 10 to 15 years (Gambhir). Therefore, if doctors can detect cancer tumors or cancer cells in the body, then they can offer required diagnostics and early treatment to the patient before the tumor develops and starts to multiply. We are typically seen as being on the left , also called liberals, or on the right , called conservatives. The two main political parties in our country are the Democrats, whose supporters are typically on the left, and the Republicans, whose supporters are on the right. These parties and their policies, however, are becoming more polarized and are attracting the more extreme members of their party and not the moderate voters, which make up the majority of the voters. By setting policies that the moderate voters would agree with can help political parties gain more voters, as long as they do not lean too far away from their base groups, or their strongest and more extreme voters. Republicans would gain supporters by changing their policies on free trade agreements, immigration, healthcare, and wall street to those that are more similar to the most of the public. These supporters would come from the moderate voters, like the hard pressed skeptics and the young outsiders, and some of the other liberal groups, like the next generation left and the faith and family left. Today the Republican party wants to repeal all free trade agreements. Overuse of laxatives can cause a reduction in colon motility, diarrhea, and incontinence (Day et al., 2014). This leads a cycle of chronically alternating constipation and diarrhea that significantly affects quality of life. Over use of laxatives is also associated with dehydration, tachycardia, and electrolyte imbalances. These side effects not only affect quality of life but can exacerbate other comorbid medical conditions (Day et al., 2014). Non pharmacological interventions are much safer. Most have few to no side effects. In the dietary fiber studies mentioned above, gastrointestinal symptoms were the only side effects reported, and even those were not significantly different than the symptoms reported by the placebo group (Gallegos Orozco et al, 2011; Lever, Cole, J., Scott, Emery, Whelan, 2014; Yang et al., 2012). Even patients without constipation, and those with diarrhea symptoms have healthier bowel movements with an increase in dietary fiber (Rodrigues Fisher et al., 1993). • 20. Different Stages Of Cell Division 1) Cell division is typically explained through the progression of 4 distinct phases, G1, S, G2, and M, and can be tracked through CDK complex concentration ranges. CDKs are cyclin dependent kinases, which regulate the cell cycle of eukaryotic cells; as suggested by the name, protein kinases are an enzyme that is dependent on cyclin for the regulation of cell division through the addition of phosphate groups. The different stages of the cell cycle correlate with different levels of cyclin and act as a threshold that once reached, triggers a phase transition. For example, for a cell to move out of G2 phase into M phase, Cyclin B interacts with the CDK1 complex, and causes phosphorylation to stimulate the phase shift; however, if the stage is not complete, the whole process slows down to accommodate the discrepancy in CDK complexes (Nelson Education, figure 9.17, page 191). This can be caused by several things, such as the presence of damaged or deformed DNA, or externally through contact inhibition, where a delay in phase shift is caused by partial or incomplete contact of all cells. If there is only partial cell contact, contact inhibition will typically prevent progression past the G1 phase until there is complete cell contact, which can be reflected in variable levels of the CDK complex(Nelson Education, page 191). Overall, CDK regulates cell division through the combination of CDK and cyclin, the activation of protein via a phosphate group that triggers a phase change, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first problem which we performed in small groups within the class, was laid out very simply as a set of sequential processes, each with individual characteristics, that are ordered in pre determined process that when complete, produces one production unit. The initial concepts demonstrated were those of cycle time, throughput, capacity, utilization and bottleneck. Cycle time reflects the average time it takes for units to complete the process once the process gets running. (Leonard, 2007, p. 10). • 28. Taking a Look at Hydras and Flatworms PART 1: Q 1. Hydra can move from one place to another by flexing the body and gripping the substrate with the tentacles and then looping the body over the mouth to gain a new position. Explain exactly what mechanisms and principles are involved in this movement? The full answer to this question involves the hydrostatic skeleton formed by the gastrovascular cavity and contractile cells. [5 6 sentences] The movement of hydra is called looping/somersaulting. This movement is possible due to the presence of a hydrostatic skeleton. This fluid filled chamber can be bent and moulded into different shapes. When the muscle cells (longitudinal and circular) contract, hydrostatic fluid from the gastro vascular cavity (GVC) is squeezed in a certain direction (depending on type of muscle cell). The contraction of longitudinal muscles cells leads to hydrostatic fluid from the GVC in an outwards and downwards direction, this makes the hydra seem compressed. When the circular muscle cells contract (squeezing the GVC from the sides) the hydrostatic liquid is forced in an upwards manner, this in turn elongates the hydra. A combination of elongation and compression allows itself to somersault itself to a new position. Q 2. What reasons can you think of that might limit this type of body form to aquatic systems?
