Essay Change Management-Resistance to Change
We may like change and regard it as an essential feature of living; it does not mean that we always
welcome it ( Hughes, 2006). 1.0 Introduction In response to environmental changes, the current
organizational change has reached an irreversible trend. As Mr. M Beer ( 2003) stated, Change is part
of organisational life and essential for progress. Those who know how to anticipate it, catalyse it, and
manage it will find their careers, and their companies, more satisfying and successful More than half
of organizational change, however, has ended in failure. The primary reason is not a lack of capacity
of the staff or the resource shortage of the enterprise , but the resistance to organizational change. In
fact, resistance to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2.0 Literature Review Change is inevitable in business life, those who can manage it well will be
beneficial from the change, as Mr. M Beer (2003) stated. However, resistance, as an obstacle of the
process of change, can hold back the development of managerial change (David Foote, 2001).
Bhutan(1995) claimed that it is important to understand one s state of mind in order to make them
accept the change. To figure out the possible reasons why people tend to resist when it comes to make
some changes. According to De Jag er (2001) , most people are reluctant to change resulting from
their suspicions and fear to the new challenges. Resistance can also occur when change goes against
their habits or values ( Robbins Sanghai, 2006). Kotellnikov (2001) stated that employees could resist
because they have an inadequate understanding of the purpose and meaning of change. To achieve
maximum benefits from change, managers must try to minimise resistance behavior first ( Coetsee
,1999). 3.0 Resistance Defined As an early researcher on this subject, Alvin Zander (1950) defined
resistance to change as behavior which is intended to protect an individual from the effects of real or
imagined change . Zaltman Duncan (1977) define

The Essential Father By Louise Silverstein And Carl Auerbach
Hang up the baseball glove and put away the bedtime stories. No need to take that long walk with
your daughter or have that long talk with your son. Keep the advice and hugs to yourself, and don t
worry about coming home. If you re a father, you re no longer wanted or needed in 21st century
America.
This news may come as a shock with another Father s Day upon us, but it s just some of what Louise
Silverstein and Carl Auerbach concluded in a jaw dropping study on fathers and fatherhood aptly titled
Deconstructing the Essential Father. Published in American Psychologist, a journal of the American
Psychological Association, the study s radical conclusions further undermine what was once beyond
debate the idea that fathers play a crucial role in the health of families and children. Still sending
shockwaves through public policy circles more than a year after its initial publication, the study is just
one of countless indicators that Dad is an endangered species.
Dangerous Dads? Chipping away at some of our most basic conceptions of parenting, the APA study
declares that fathers are not essential to child well being; the institution of marriage does not serve the
broader interests of society; divorce is not necessarily harmful to children; fathers contribute nothing
special to child development; and the traditional family unit headed by a mother and father is not any
better at protecting children than anything else. In other

minimal advertising enables Primark to offer value and low price products. The economies of scales
resulting by buying large quantity of items help Primark to keep costs down. Moreover, retails prices
are kept at considerably low level through lean operation and efficient operational practices (e.g. off

vital key to survive and grow in its industry sector. 3.2.2. Financial situation (trend analysis) In recent

Philanthropy Reader By John Rockfeller
#2 In the book Philanthropy reader , a variety of philanthropy philosophies are discussed; However, in
this class, we have talked about three different types of philanthropy, the types of philanthropy are
Effective altruism, philanthropic locals, and conservative philanthropy. Personally, I believe that if
every individual has the same philanthropy mindset, all of these would be successful and solve social
problems that the world is facing. Obviously, in today s society, everyone has their beliefs and support
a different kind of philanthropy. Personally, I am a supporter of all three ideologies, because I think
they go hand in hand. What I mean with hand in hand is the fact that we all should start with taking
care of ourselves and family before we start taking care of others. In the book philanthropy reader,
John Rockfeller argues about The difficult art of giving , and he states: If people can be educated to
help themselves, we strike at the root of many of the evils in the world (412). This shows that
philanthropy starts by taking care of yourself, and when people manage to look out for themselves,
they can start looking out for other people as well. When it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

If I would donate my money, it would be with an intention of goodness of my heart, and not
something I would do to make myself feel better in one way or another. A problem in today s society,
is the fact that people do not give to help the people in need, they donate to make themselves look
good, and that is wrong. My reason for giving would be similar to Bill Gates, because he found an
issue that could help the most amount of people, and invested in it. If I would give my money to a
charity, it would be to a charity that I feel passionate about, because if I feel passionate about
something, I would put my heart and soul in it to make a significant

English Language Barriers
Even though some immigrants come into the U.S and go into the field of entrepreneurship by either
starting from scratch or having the requirements needed, it s harder for most immigrants to find
employment with well paying jobs because not all have a safe place to go home to and not every
immigrant comes into the U.S breaking the language barrier. Essentially, not every foreigner that
comes to the U.S is prepared to handle the stress that comes with communicating with one another,
that can be experienced as a result of not knowing enough of the language to speak English and be
understood. This problem is presented, creating multiple obstacles for a newcomer to achieve their
goals, either to obtain a good job to support their family or hoping the money in the United States is
better than what they earned in their original country. But because many lack the skill to communicate
with others, people who speak fluently English may get frustrated with those who can t connect or
have difficulty understanding what one is trying to get across to the other, decreasing the chance of the
migratory to be granted a job, able to ace a job interview, open opportunities to find a home, make
friends or even struggle with great difficulty getting the information they need. Struggling with their
fluency will impact dramatically their self esteem, causing one to feel ashamed and afraid due to them
knowing they don t have the ease of speaking freely their broken English without being laughed at or
criticized. Furthermore, another disadvantage new settlers have is the insufficiency of transportation.
When families come in a hurry to the U.S, it s highly likely almost every newcomer doesn t have
someone or a way to transit from one location to another. Let s say, a man doesn t have access to a car
to drive from his house to the building he works in. Let s not forget his workplace is on the other side
of town. He has a couple options now, to mount up earlier in the morning to walk to his workplace and
still manage to arrive on time, take a bus to the nearest stop to his work building until he can afford a
car or ask a friend to give him a ride until he has saved enough. Saving enough money will take a
couple of months depending

On Saturday the 28 29 of April 1996 a killing spree occurred in which 35 people were killed and 23
wounded. Marin Bryant, a 28 year old committed a shooting at the popular tourist site, Port Arthur
former prison colony, and was found guilty and given 35 life sentences without possibility of parole.
Byrant took the life of his first victims David and Noelene Martin who he choked and then shot due to
possibility that they triggered his father s suicide. His father had tried to purchase a bed and breakfast

their 15 month old son Mitchell, Jason Winter, a 28 year old New Zealand winemaker who had been
helping at the busy cafe, threw a serving tray at Byrant in an attempt to distract him. Joanne Winter s
father pushed his daughter and grandson to the floor taking safety under the table.
The only two police officers stationed in Peninsula were attending a fake emergency call at Saltwater

were at Seascape and could see a BMW on fire. They were fired upon due to the trap they had fallen

In order to fully understand the first unit of American Studies I am going to orchestrate a class in

in the class. This class will be titled, Stories: Their Influence and Power. This class will focus on how
stories have the abilities to change people s lives, and will especially focus on the context of stories in
the lives of Native Americans. This class is extremely important because it will give students insight
into not only Native stories, but into their own stories and how their lives have been impacted by
them. This class will focus around excerpts from the book by Thomas King, The Truth About Stories,

students perform an activity. I am going to ask each student to think about a time in which someone
made something up about them, and how that impacted their life. Or if they have ever made up a story
about someone else and how they think that impacted the other person s life. We will then hold class
discussion on how a single story, whether true or not, can change the portrayal of a person. The second
story we will analyze in The Truth About Stories is going to be quintessential to this course and will
inhabit a great deal of the time. We are going to look even deeper into the power of stories and turn it
into something personal for the students. We will start by reading the story about Thomas and his son
moving from Utah to Canada, which is located on page 99. This is a very short story but it packs a
great deal of punch. Thomas is forced to move for a job, and inherently his nine year old son has to
come with him. They get caught in a big storm and the son ends up reminding his dad that the whole
entire this was Thomas idea. I am going to follow in Professor Richotte s lead and put a great deal of
emphasis on the son, as he did in lecture. I will stress that this was a

Equality 7-2521 Quotes
In the book Anthem, we learn that people live in a collectivist society where they are the great We and
the only We. This kind of society oppresses man s inborn thirst for knowledge and creativity, although
one character still possesses the want for knowledge. Equality 7 2521 is the man cursed with the
nature to want to know more, even though he is lashed he still persists on his quest for knowledge.
What is Equality s motivation if not for joy, and it is not for the greater good for mankind? The simple
answer may be curiosity, for no punishment could change him from wanting to know. Equality is
motivated for multiple reasons, one being curiosity, the desire to create something to call his own, and
to be part of the council of scholars. Curiosity killed the cat, but it is also the reason we are so
technologically advanced today. A society without curiosity would have no will, no drive, and people
would wander around without meaning. This trait, curiosity, is the basis of mankind. As shown in the
book, Equality possessed curiosity. He said, But we loved the Science of Things. We wished to know.
We wished to know about all the things which make the earth around us. We asked so many questions
that the Teachers forbade it. (23) The curiosity that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

have a hideaway, to keep something as his own. Equality took the tunnel as his own for inventing, and
to get away from his brothers. He knew the crime could land him in the palace of corrective detention,
but the motivation to claim something as his own must have been strong. His strive to claim

In Jamaica Kincaid s novel, Lucy, the title character has similar personality traits to the pop singer and
former child star, Miley Cyrus; both are young women who stray from the average conventional
woman. Lucy and Cyrus live lives that differ from the societal standards for women. Both women
embrace their sexuality and do not always agree with the traditional gender roles. Cyrus expresses her
views through controversial stunts on television and on social media. Although Lucy s life is not

society expects her to follow.

The box is an impressive quality because it s got this fabulous velvet finish. It s a stylish black, white

Another inspiration was New York City (as you know, it is my most favorite happy places in the

Plato On Censorship

Plato on Censorship
Since the rise of man, the concept of art has also arisen. With it, the goods and troubles it causes.
Some argue that art is good and is only entertainment, while others see it as the cause of a State s
corruption. In Plato s The Republic , Socrates thought that art should be censored because of its heavy
influence on men. Writer Alexander Nehamas, on the other hand, feels that one generation s
entertainment is the next s fine art, which he thinks is ridiculous to censor. But the biggest question
that remains is: when does art stop being art?
Platonic censorship is based mainly on excluding forms of art and literature from society, based on the
components they include that portray bad role models and blasphemies, topics not ... Show more

The fact is that the works of both Homer and Aeschylus, whatever else they were in classical Athens,
were, first and foremost, popular entertainment. (Nemaha, 3) Nemaha says that entertainment was
basically just a representation of their world. To compare the Iliad... to Grand theft auto...may seem
silly if not absurd (Nemaha, 4) Nehama restates that fine art is meant to change people, and
entertainment is just to please. Art should not be censored it allows us to express ourselves, and a
world without imagination would be a dull one, with depraved life .
My personal opinion is that art should NOT be censored. It is good to have bad art in order to show
the youth what is not acceptable and what is. This way we can create a better future for the children
without leaving them so hopelessly innocent minded. In another way, I think you should not be able to
label someone else s work as good or bad art. I, just like article writer Jeff Goins, think, what is not
okay is calling something art when it s not when it is, in fact, something else. (Jeff

Synopsis Of Il N Existe Probablement

Comparison Of Moral Arguments And Ethical Theories
How I Approach Moral Arguments and Ethical Theories The controversial moral argument that is
going to be discussed in this paper is homosexuality in relation to religious beliefs and gay marriage.
My beliefs are that this practice is morally wrong, but who am I to be the judge? The approach used to
base this reasoning on is a simple question. Does this issue affect me? If a homosexual couple has the
desire to wed, I do not see any possible reason that this would affect my livelihood. I will let God
decide if this practice is acceptable or should be punished. Logically, there is no way to determine who
is right or wrong in the argument, but it is useful to determine if the argument is good or bad (Mosser,
2011). A few premises that are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My viewpoint follows the principle of deontology. There is no excuse for lying. Lying is a hurtful act
of disrespect and thus should not be done (Mosser, 2011, Ch. 5, p. 15). Once again, this belief is due to
religious beliefs that lying is wrong. The utilitarian viewpoint of lying is acceptable if it benefits the
greatest good for the greatest number of people is a weak argument. What about those people that do
not benefit? Do they not matter? I believe that everyone can contribute. Thomas Plante, Ph. D. a
professor with Santa Clara University has this to say on the subject, When it comes to making ethical
decisions we need to balance the pros and cons of using multiple approaches to ethics in order to
figure out what the right thing to do really is. Sometimes different ethical approaches conflict. When
they do, certain values or approaches must trump others. So, compassion might trump honesty on
occasion (Plante, 2011). While this viewpoint is utilitarian, there are many valid points. However, I
always believe that honesty is the best policy to save any future repercussions such as a lost
friendship, or a legal dispute. I also believe there are ways to get around lying to keep someone s
feelings from being hurt. Using such phrases as it s in God s hands, we ll see, and simply I can t tell

CBS Corporation has adopted such strategies in the television programs. For example, many movies
which are broadcasted on CBS channels are produced by Paramount, a movie production company
owned by Viacom. In this example, CBS TV channels is the way to distribute media content while
Paramount is the way to produce such content. The vertical integration is a useful method of
advertising the company and impacting social relations. The culture of the company is distributed to
people who value the company, such as subscribers of CBS channels. Horizontal integration is the
integration across the media landscape. This integration is obvious in such a giant media
conglomerate. CBS Corporation covers the field of radio, publishing, television and online properties.
In this way, some important materials can be widely broadcast and learned by many customers.
One thing I found interesting is that CBS once produced many classic movies, such as Roman
Holidays. This movie is actually produced by CBS Film Inc, which is the former Viacom. Later, as we
know, Viacom owns some excellent movie production companies such as Paramount. The movie
producing positioning of Viacom decided its company strategy to move forward in movie industry.
And this advantage in movie production assists the CBS Corporation to develop in the movie industry
before the split in 2005. It is so interesting

Basic Pricing Strategies For A New Backpack Entering The...
The price strategy defines the initial, base price and the appropriate strategy depends on the pricing
objectives. There are three basic pricing strategies for pricing a product or service: price skimming,
penetration pricing and status quo pricing. Effective marketing involves the price being set to equal
the perceived value of the product, a backpack, to the target market, university students. The following
sections discuss the alternative pricing strategies, the advantages and disadvantages of these and the
most appropriate strategy for a new backpack entering the market.
Price skimming, also known as market plus, involves setting a high price when compared to the
competition and then eventually lowering this price. It is usually used for new products and services
that will attract early adopters willing to pay a higher price. The business can initially reach these early
adopters to maximise revenue, but this may be limited because students are often price sensitive due to
their low income. However, the higher price enables companies to test students willingness to pay a
high price, and then lower the price to appeal to those who are more price sensitive. Although, this
may aggravate early adopters, a lasting high price may defer mass market acceptance. The initial high
profit margin may lead companies into avoiding cutting production costs which is necessary for when
the selling price lowers. However, price skimming allows the company to quickly recover product

What Are Pesonality Traits in the Work Environment
What are Personality Traits in the Work Environment?
What exactly are personality traits in the work environment? Personality traits are simply a person s
actions, attitudes, and behaviors being displayed. The work environment being covered is currently in
need of what many call an extreme intervention. Currently several coworkers are dealing with one
individual who is using various counterproductive work behaviors to create a negative work
environment. Many of these behaviors include harassing coworkers, creating un welcomed conflict,
not being truthful, sabotage, and purposely withholding information from others.

As these measures of negativity persisted in the work group it becomes very challenging for all others

divergent, and is negatively affecting employees in the work group. Finally after several complaints
about a certain individual to management, it was decided there was a strong need for intervention. The

My Leadership Potentials
SYED MUHAMMAD SHAFIQ B. SYED JAAFAR (0822075)
SECTION 19
My Leadership Potential
There isn t a need for me to think for three minutes as I have decided long time ago to become the
11th Prime Minister of Malaysia, InsyaAllah. Why do I want to go that far? It is because, I love this
country and I want to bring Malaysia and the Malaysians to the next level. Malaysians had enough of
being in a developing country. Why do I set that as my goal? I believe 90% of Malaysian will agree
with me that the current leadership of the country is not doing enough for the betterment of the people.
Politicking will continue even so long after the General Election had finished. And there goes the 23
years of Malaysia rapid growth under Tun Dr. Mahathir ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Jews were protected even though they are in a Muslim community. This type of leadership is
essential in Malaysia, as it has a multiracial and multi religion community. By applying the policy and
formula used by Prophet Muhammad P.B.U.H in governing Madinah, I am sure that Malaysia, even
though a multi cultural society, can apply the Islamic law without threatening the rights of the Non
Muslims.
I would say that I would become a unique Prime Minister of Malaysia by trying to achieve 2 main
goals which are to become a great nation in the eyes of the world as well as to become a nation that is
blessed by Allah S.W.T. My mission is to transform Malaysia into a New Madinah which is well
balanced in the aspect of worldly matters and also the hereafter. I would proved to the Non Muslims
particularly in Malaysia that a Muslim country can be at the same level as other developed secular
countries but in the same time, we can maintain our pride and status as the believer of Allah. The Non
Muslims will be more prosperous and protected in Malaysia even though Islamic laws will be applied
during my time of leadership. The world would have a new perspective on Islam and Islam will gain
back the respect from the world. Malaysia would be a great role model to other countries and from
that; the world would be at peace again,

Meaning Of Culture In Spain
What is the meaning of culture? What makes up one s culture? How does a person s surrounding
affect their culture? Culture as we know it is all our surroundings that shape who we are as individuals
and societies. Culture is learned, shared, transmitted across generations, it takes time to develop, and it
is subject to change. When we are born, we are not immediately aware of our culture, it must be
learned. The way we learn our culture is through shared knowledge and experiences that are often
passed down from generation to generation. These aspects of our cultures are fostered over long
periods of time and are influenced by not only the people around us but also the geographical location,
however culture is always subject to change due to the human nature and the ever changing society we
live in. One of the key factors that plays a major role in our culture development is the region of the
world that we live in. In the country of Spain one of the accepted cultural norms is nudity, given the
heavy Mediterranean climate and hot summers. This may seem very strange to you given it is also
illegal here in our country but is legal and not to uncommon in Spain. This has been a developed
aspect of their culture in Spain given their region of the world. Spain is comprised of mostly rugged
hills, mountains, and coastline running along both the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.
Mainland Spain is the second highest and mountainous country in Europe, with an

Nathaniel Mackey s Bedouin Hornbook Essay
Nathaniel Mackey s Bedouin Hornbook
A Bedouin is a nomad and a nomad a wanderer. Nathaniel Mackey seems to wander far and away in
his Bedouin Hornbook, a series of fictional letters addressed to an Angel of Dust and signed by the
ambiguous N. N. interprets passages of improvisation, analyzing others musical expression in
surprising detail to the point that his unquestioning sincerity and self assurance are almost laughable.
That N. can glean meaning from music in such a direct and certain manner is problematic because his
tone implies that there is only one correct interpretation of music. In addressing the issue of how
music conveys meaning, Mackey seems to wander in two disparate directions. After asserting each
seemingly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By employing deceptively similar language in these instances, Mackey sets up a parallel between
music and speech that he uses to make his point about how meaning is conveyed through art.
Aunt Nancy not only challenges Lambert s interpretation of the music, but by extension, every
unchallenged musical interpretation N. offers throughout the novel. But Aunt Nancy faces the same
problem as N. when articulating her complaint. While asserting an alternate interpretation, she
assumes a tone that claims hers as singularly true, which seems hypocritical. Since Aunt Nancy
commits the same contradiction as N., Mackey foreshadows a reconciliation of our understanding of
that contradiction.
Mackey first uses the argument between Aunt Nancy and Lambert to assert that improvisation itself is
the goal of music, rather than a device used to carry a separate meaning. The dispute arises when the
group begins to dissect Lambert s solo. While Djamilaa, Penguin and N. are enthusiastic about the
piece, Aunt Nancy sits sulking. When prompted, she divulges a resentment of the implied attack on
her regarding her increased involvement with the violin at the congas expense (132). Lambert
disagrees and defends his playing, saying that he was genuinely sorry that she d chosen to take the
questions his piece had raised in that way, though he welcomes the opportunity to make

Impressionist Works Of Claude Monet
(1) Impressionist chooses themes from everyday life and painting outdoors. The goal was to get a
representation of a spontaneous and direct world, and for that they focused on the effects of natural
light on objects. They mainly focus on light, moment and the space. The abstract impressionist used
reason and intellect, divided into figurative and non figurative, the non figurative had no known forms
they are pure images coming from the author s mind. It is mechanical and can be cold. Figurative
abstraction uses real forms but distorted and simplified even to lose its basic characteristics it is free
might please the eye, because the author seeks to convey our emotions without seeking cosmetic
beauty are simplified geometrics forms , without any apparent order nor purpose. This being said one
can conclude that Claude Monet s (an impressionist) painting Coquelicots has been called landscaping
painting because it reflects a scene from nature. His painting doesn t show great detail on people s
faces nor does shows details on things , rather his painting focuses on the moment that the artist tries
to express in his work. Through Claude Monet s painting one can easily guess the time in history
where the painting took place. On the other hand, Mondrian s painting Broadway Boogie Woogie even
though belongs to a different period in the art moment, it s painting shows clear similitudes to Claude
Monet s Coquelicots . Broadway Boogie Woogie also comes from the artist

INTRODUCTION
The Canadian Constitution is the base for every subject that affect Canadian citizens, permanent
residents and temporary residents as well directly. The Canadian Constitution outlines many topics
including how the government should deal with people in the country and the way that people must
deal with the government. As any other constitution, being a part of the country requires rights and
duties, which the Constitution disposes in its content. It wouldn t be different for the minimum wage.
The Canadian Constitution sets how this matter will be treated and specify that each province should
has its own responsibility for enacts the minimum wage subjects.
Minimum Wage can be a subject of high level of discussions since it affects lots of people and there
are multiple factors that affect how the minimum wage is implemented, measured, and fair. From a
basic perspective, the factors that are included in minimum wage are not well defined as critical
factors, but employability and poorness are some of the main factors that are assessed when the
government of each province decide to increase the minimum wage of the province. During all the
history of minimum wages a bunch of studies were made to analyse the effects that the minimum

Over Centuries Hundreds Of Years Dance Has Been And Always
Over centuries hundreds of years dance has been and always will be a major part of every culture. It is
used as a form of expression which incorporates many types such as art, prayer, meditation, fitness,
therapy and the list goes on. Dance is not only a resource for such things, but it is also a lifestyle for
many, including it in their everyday lives.
Throughout history dance was used solely for worship reasons. Dance goes as far back as the ancient
Egyptian days; it s possible it could go back even further before the history of it was even being
recorded. What we do know is that there is even written passages in the bible that mention dance.
Some of the verses mentioned talk about dancing with joy of the lord and dancing ... Show more

Another impactful woman was Katherine Dunham. Dunham had a serious passion for dance.
Unfortunately, at the time segregation still existed and black people were not allowed into the same
places as white people. When Katherine Dunham preformed at a business that features dancers, the
owners were blown away and wanted her back. Before she came back she told them she wouldn t
preform until black people were allowed to sit in and watch, they liked her so much they agreed to it.
Not only did Dunham break the norm by being one of the first black, female performers, but she also
made it possible for other people who aren t white be able to enjoy her show as well. What Dunham
achieved in her lifetime is very important and helped contribute to ending segregation. These two are
only two examples of how dance has helped shape society and influence many. There are many other
instances where dance has played a huge role in the world.
Dances vary depending on the culture. Here in the United states we have various forms of dance,
whether you re doing the chicken dance, whipping, or nay naying, these are all examples of modern
day dances in America. We could even look back to the days where men and women went to the parlor
in their greased hair and poodle skirts and danced to some ol time rock n roll. There are so many
countries that have their own known dances, just like we do in the US. In one of the links

Traditional Native American Culture
Long before the white man discovered America, people have already been living here. These people
are known as the Native Americans. As the settlers came to the native land, they brought firm beliefs
with them that ended up causing great conflicts with the native people. It was clear that the travelers
and the native people could not live among one another since the native people has their own set of
values and they were much different than the white man s beliefs. Traditional Lakota spirituality is a
form of religious belief that each thing, plant and animal has a spirit. The traditional Native American
community was a small group of related families. Each community included a headman, a man would
accomplish this position of leadership by demonstrating characteristics valued by the group, such as
generosity, wisdom, fortitude, and spiritual power gained through dreams and visions. The Natives felt
that the more isolated and rural the population was the more traditional it tended to be. Fraternal
societies were also significant within the community life. Memberships to this society was by
invitation only. The point of the society was to function as a tribal council. One important leader in the
society was a healer, respected for wisdom as well as curative powers. This healer ... Show more

  • 2. Essay Change Management-Resistance to Change We may like change and regard it as an essential feature of living; it does not mean that we always welcome it ( Hughes, 2006). 1.0 Introduction In response to environmental changes, the current organizational change has reached an irreversible trend. As Mr. M Beer ( 2003) stated, Change is part of organisational life and essential for progress. Those who know how to anticipate it, catalyse it, and manage it will find their careers, and their companies, more satisfying and successful More than half of organizational change, however, has ended in failure. The primary reason is not a lack of capacity of the staff or the resource shortage of the enterprise , but the resistance to organizational change. In fact, resistance to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2.0 Literature Review Change is inevitable in business life, those who can manage it well will be beneficial from the change, as Mr. M Beer (2003) stated. However, resistance, as an obstacle of the process of change, can hold back the development of managerial change (David Foote, 2001). Bhutan(1995) claimed that it is important to understand one s state of mind in order to make them accept the change. To figure out the possible reasons why people tend to resist when it comes to make some changes. According to De Jag er (2001) , most people are reluctant to change resulting from their suspicions and fear to the new challenges. Resistance can also occur when change goes against their habits or values ( Robbins Sanghai, 2006). Kotellnikov (2001) stated that employees could resist because they have an inadequate understanding of the purpose and meaning of change. To achieve maximum benefits from change, managers must try to minimise resistance behavior first ( Coetsee ,1999). 3.0 Resistance Defined As an early researcher on this subject, Alvin Zander (1950) defined resistance to change as behavior which is intended to protect an individual from the effects of real or imagined change . • 3. The Essential Father By Louise Silverstein And Carl Auerbach Hang up the baseball glove and put away the bedtime stories. No need to take that long walk with your daughter or have that long talk with your son. Keep the advice and hugs to yourself, and don t worry about coming home. If you re a father, you re no longer wanted or needed in 21st century America. This news may come as a shock with another Father s Day upon us, but it s just some of what Louise Silverstein and Carl Auerbach concluded in a jaw dropping study on fathers and fatherhood aptly titled Deconstructing the Essential Father. Published in American Psychologist, a journal of the American Psychological Association, the study s radical conclusions further undermine what was once beyond debate the idea that fathers play a crucial role in the health of families and children. Still sending shockwaves through public policy circles more than a year after its initial publication, the study is just one of countless indicators that Dad is an endangered species. Dangerous Dads? Chipping away at some of our most basic conceptions of parenting, the APA study declares that fathers are not essential to child well being; the institution of marriage does not serve the broader interests of society; divorce is not necessarily harmful to children; fathers contribute nothing special to child development; and the traditional family unit headed by a mother and father is not any better at protecting children than anything else. According to a case study of Primark (The Times 100, 2010), the business model which is based on high sales volumes and lower retail margins with minimal advertising enables Primark to offer value and low price products. The economies of scales resulting by buying large quantity of items help Primark to keep costs down. Moreover, retails prices are kept at considerably low level through lean operation and efficient operational practices (e.g. off season factory time, flat management structure, effectiveness of distribution network and supply chain). • 5. Philanthropy Reader By John Rockfeller #2 In the book Philanthropy reader , a variety of philanthropy philosophies are discussed; However, in this class, we have talked about three different types of philanthropy, the types of philanthropy are Effective altruism, philanthropic locals, and conservative philanthropy. Personally, I believe that if every individual has the same philanthropy mindset, all of these would be successful and solve social problems that the world is facing. Obviously, in today s society, everyone has their beliefs and support a different kind of philanthropy. Personally, I am a supporter of all three ideologies, because I think they go hand in hand. What I mean with hand in hand is the fact that we all should start with taking care of ourselves and family before we start taking care of others. In the book philanthropy reader, John Rockfeller argues about The difficult art of giving , and he states: If people can be educated to help themselves, we strike at the root of many of the evils in the world (412). This shows that philanthropy starts by taking care of yourself, and when people manage to look out for themselves, they can start looking out for other people as well. When it ... If I would donate my money, it would be with an intention of goodness of my heart, and not something I would do to make myself feel better in one way or another. A problem in today s society, is the fact that people do not give to help the people in need, they donate to make themselves look good, and that is wrong. My reason for giving would be similar to Bill Gates, because he found an issue that could help the most amount of people, and invested in it. If I would give my money to a charity, it would be to a charity that I feel passionate about, because if I feel passionate about something, I would put my heart and soul in it to make a significant ... • 6. English Language Barriers Even though some immigrants come into the U.S and go into the field of entrepreneurship by either starting from scratch or having the requirements needed, it s harder for most immigrants to find employment with well paying jobs because not all have a safe place to go home to and not every immigrant comes into the U.S breaking the language barrier. Essentially, not every foreigner that comes to the U.S is prepared to handle the stress that comes with communicating with one another, that can be experienced as a result of not knowing enough of the language to speak English and be understood. This problem is presented, creating multiple obstacles for a newcomer to achieve their goals, either to obtain a good job to support their family or hoping the money in the United States is better than what they earned in their original country. But because many lack the skill to communicate with others, people who speak fluently English may get frustrated with those who can t connect or have difficulty understanding what one is trying to get across to the other, decreasing the chance of the migratory to be granted a job, able to ace a job interview, open opportunities to find a home, make friends or even struggle with great difficulty getting the information they need. Struggling with their fluency will impact dramatically their self esteem, causing one to feel ashamed and afraid due to them knowing they don t have the ease of speaking freely their broken English without being laughed at or criticized. Furthermore, another disadvantage new settlers have is the insufficiency of transportation. When families come in a hurry to the U.S, it s highly likely almost every newcomer doesn t have someone or a way to transit from one location to another. Let s say, a man doesn t have access to a car to drive from his house to the building he works in. Let s not forget his workplace is on the other side of town. He has a couple options now, to mount up earlier in the morning to walk to his workplace and still manage to arrive on time, take a bus to the nearest stop to his work building until he can afford a car or ask a friend to give him a ride until he has saved enough. Saving enough money will take a couple of months depending ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In order to fully understand the first unit of American Studies I am going to orchestrate a class in which we explore the major themes and perform exercises to enhance the understanding of everyone in the class. This class will be titled, Stories: Their Influence and Power. This class will focus on how stories have the abilities to change people s lives, and will especially focus on the context of stories in the lives of Native Americans. This class is extremely important because it will give students insight into not only Native stories, but into their own stories and how their lives have been impacted by them. In order to explore this further I am going to have my students perform an activity. Or if they have ever made up a story about someone else and how they think that impacted the other person s life. We will then hold class discussion on how a single story, whether true or not, can change the portrayal of a person. The second story we will analyze in The Truth About Stories is going to be quintessential to this course and will inhabit a great deal of the time. We are going to look even deeper into the power of stories and turn it into something personal for the students. We will start by reading the story about Thomas and his son moving from Utah to Canada, which is located on page 99. This is a very short story but it packs a great deal of punch. Thomas is forced to move for a job, and inherently his nine year old son has to come with him. • 11. Equality 7-2521 Quotes In the book Anthem, we learn that people live in a collectivist society where they are the great We and the only We. This kind of society oppresses man s inborn thirst for knowledge and creativity, although one character still possesses the want for knowledge. Equality 7 2521 is the man cursed with the nature to want to know more, even though he is lashed he still persists on his quest for knowledge. What is Equality s motivation if not for joy, and it is not for the greater good for mankind? The simple answer may be curiosity, for no punishment could change him from wanting to know. Equality is motivated for multiple reasons, one being curiosity, the desire to create something to call his own, and to be part of the council of scholars. Curiosity killed the cat, but it is also the reason we are so technologically advanced today. A society without curiosity would have no will, no drive, and people would wander around without meaning. This trait, curiosity, is the basis of mankind. As shown in the book, Equality possessed curiosity. He said, But we loved the Science of Things. We wished to know. We wished to know about all the things which make the earth around us. We asked so many questions that the Teachers forbade it. (23) The curiosity that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cyrus expresses her views through controversial stunts on television and on social media. With it, the goods and troubles it causes. Some argue that art is good and is only entertainment, while others see it as the cause of a State s corruption. In Plato s The Republic , Socrates thought that art should be censored because of its heavy influence on men. Writer Alexander Nehamas, on the other hand, feels that one generation s entertainment is the next s fine art, which he thinks is ridiculous to censor. But the biggest question that remains is: when does art stop being art? Platonic censorship is based mainly on excluding forms of art and literature from society, based on the components they include that portray bad role models and blasphemies, topics not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fact is that the works of both Homer and Aeschylus, whatever else they were in classical Athens, were, first and foremost, popular entertainment. (Nemaha, 3) Nemaha says that entertainment was basically just a representation of their world. To compare the Iliad... to Grand theft auto...may seem silly if not absurd (Nemaha, 4) Nehama restates that fine art is meant to change people, and entertainment is just to please. Art should not be censored it allows us to express ourselves, and a world without imagination would be a dull one, with depraved life . My personal opinion is that art should NOT be censored. It is good to have bad art in order to show the youth what is not acceptable and what is. This way we can create a better future for the children without leaving them so hopelessly innocent minded. In another way, I think you should not be able to label someone else s work as good or bad art. Comparison Of Moral Arguments And Ethical Theories How I Approach Moral Arguments and Ethical Theories The controversial moral argument that is going to be discussed in this paper is homosexuality in relation to religious beliefs and gay marriage. My beliefs are that this practice is morally wrong, but who am I to be the judge? The approach used to base this reasoning on is a simple question. Does this issue affect me? If a homosexual couple has the desire to wed, I do not see any possible reason that this would affect my livelihood. I will let God decide if this practice is acceptable or should be punished. Logically, there is no way to determine who is right or wrong in the argument, but it is useful to determine if the argument is good or bad (Mosser, 2011). A few premises that are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My viewpoint follows the principle of deontology. There is no excuse for lying. Lying is a hurtful act of disrespect and thus should not be done (Mosser, 2011, Ch. 5, p. 15). Once again, this belief is due to religious beliefs that lying is wrong. The utilitarian viewpoint of lying is acceptable if it benefits the greatest good for the greatest number of people is a weak argument. What about those people that do not benefit? Do they not matter? I believe that everyone can contribute. Thomas Plante, Ph. D. a professor with Santa Clara University has this to say on the subject, When it comes to making ethical decisions we need to balance the pros and cons of using multiple approaches to ethics in order to figure out what the right thing to do really is. Sometimes different ethical approaches conflict. When they do, certain values or approaches must trump others. So, compassion might trump honesty on occasion (Plante, 2011). While this viewpoint is utilitarian, there are many valid points. However, I always believe that honesty is the best policy to save any future repercussions such as a lost friendship, or a legal dispute. I also believe there are ways to get around lying to keep someone s feelings from being hurt. There are three basic pricing strategies for pricing a product or service: price skimming, penetration pricing and status quo pricing. Effective marketing involves the price being set to equal the perceived value of the product, a backpack, to the target market, university students. The following sections discuss the alternative pricing strategies, the advantages and disadvantages of these and the most appropriate strategy for a new backpack entering the market. Price skimming, also known as market plus, involves setting a high price when compared to the competition and then eventually lowering this price. It is usually used for new products and services that will attract early adopters willing to pay a higher price. The business can initially reach these early adopters to maximise revenue, but this may be limited because students are often price sensitive due to their low income. However, the higher price enables companies to test students willingness to pay a high price, and then lower the price to appeal to those who are more price sensitive. Although, this may aggravate early adopters, a lasting high price may defer mass market acceptance. The initial high profit margin may lead companies into avoiding cutting production costs which is necessary for when the selling price lowers. Culture as we know it is all our surroundings that shape who we are as individuals and societies. Culture is learned, shared, transmitted across generations, it takes time to develop, and it is subject to change. When we are born, we are not immediately aware of our culture, it must be learned. The way we learn our culture is through shared knowledge and experiences that are often passed down from generation to generation. These aspects of our cultures are fostered over long periods of time and are influenced by not only the people around us but also the geographical location, however culture is always subject to change due to the human nature and the ever changing society we live in. One of the key factors that plays a major role in our culture development is the region of the world that we live in. Nathaniel Mackey seems to wander far and away in his Bedouin Hornbook, a series of fictional letters addressed to an Angel of Dust and signed by the ambiguous N. N. interprets passages of improvisation, analyzing others musical expression in surprising detail to the point that his unquestioning sincerity and self assurance are almost laughable. By employing deceptively similar language in these instances, Mackey sets up a parallel between music and speech that he uses to make his point about how meaning is conveyed through art. Aunt Nancy not only challenges Lambert s interpretation of the music, but by extension, every unchallenged musical interpretation N. offers throughout the novel. But Aunt Nancy faces the same problem as N. when articulating her complaint. While asserting an alternate interpretation, she assumes a tone that claims hers as singularly true, which seems hypocritical. Since Aunt Nancy commits the same contradiction as N., Mackey foreshadows a reconciliation of our understanding of that contradiction. Mackey first uses the argument between Aunt Nancy and Lambert to assert that improvisation itself is the goal of music, rather than a device used to carry a separate meaning. The dispute arises when the group begins to dissect Lambert s solo. While Djamilaa, Penguin and N. are enthusiastic about the piece, Aunt Nancy sits sulking. When prompted, she divulges a resentment of the implied attack on her regarding her increased involvement with the violin at the congas expense (132). The goal was to get a representation of a spontaneous and direct world, and for that they focused on the effects of natural light on objects. They mainly focus on light, moment and the space. The abstract impressionist used reason and intellect, divided into figurative and non figurative, the non figurative had no known forms they are pure images coming from the author s mind.
