The Navajo People and Their Environmental Concerns Essay
The Navajo People and Their Environmental Concerns
Introduction
This nation was built on the foundation that All Men are Created Equal. Under the eyes of God, no
man is better than another. This has held our nation together and forced us to exist
interdependently. We are fortunate to live in a nation that possesses such a wealth of diversity. It
makes our nation unique and gives people the opportunity to learn about the beauty of culture.
However, history has shown us that not all have embraced diversity. For this reason, civil rights
movements have long been a part of our history. Citizens of this country recognize key figures in
Civil Rights movements such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Cesar Chavez who have promoted ...

#61607;In total, American Indians own approximately 55 millions acres.

These numbers represent the struggle the Native American faces. First, 97% of their land was
taken away from them over the last 500 years. The land belonged to their ancestors. No land titles
or claims existed before the arrival of the Spanish and English. Their lands were communal and
they existed with unwritten boundaries. Cases of such cultural displacement exist amongst
indigenous people around the globe. For instance, the Mapuche Indians in Chile were victims of
the Spanish conquest. Before 1866, the Mapuche lived on over 100,000 square kilometers of land.
Between 1866 and 1927, they were forced to then live on 5,000

Cerberus Personal Narrative
Cerberus If there s some sort of natural instinct that makes you unfazed by the supernatural, I
must have born without it. In hindsight, something like that would really come in handy when
you re dealing with monsters on the daily basis. And, naturally, that was a burden I was placed

abilities from his side of the family. While it might sound like something super rare, I ve come to

How did you even get in here? I asked. I picked your lock, he shrugged. Excuse me? Daniel
waved me off. Let me make this simple for you. Take a look at me and tell me what s different
than usual, he said. As usual, he was dressed in punk looking clothes tattered black jeans, a shirt
for some 1930 s horror movie, and his signature fingerless leather gloves. His curly hair was
unkempt like he just rolled out of bed. He levitated a couple inches above the ground, which
didn t come as a shock considering Daniel has been dead since 1942. Still, something was off.
Where s Karkinos? I asked. Karkinos was the nickname Daniel gave to the amulet that he always
wore. I didn t know much about magic outside of elemental magic, but I knew that Karkinos was
the product of necromancy that allowed Daniel to walk among the living as long as he pleased.
Overall, that was a pretty good deal. I would know how over rated dying is. I did it once. Daniel
tried not to look nauseous. You see, that s the problem. Cerberus has this problem of stealing my

Numerous reasons and possibilities circulate through out the world as to if the United States

Essay on The Soviet Union and the Legacy of Communist Rule
The Soviet Union and the Legacy of Communist Rule
The December of 1991 marked the end of the Soviet Union and with it, an entire era. Like the
February Revolution of 1917 that ended tsardom, the events leading up to August 1991 took place
in rapid succession, with both spontaneity and, to some degree, retrospective inevitability. To
understand the demise of Soviet Union is to understand the communist party state system itself.
Although the particular happenings of the Gorbachev years undoubtedly accelerated its ruin, there
existed fundamental flaws within the Soviet system that would be had been proven ultimately fatal.
The USSR became a past chapter of history because it was impossible to significantly reform the

Mikhail Gorbachev, the new General Secretariat in 1985, seemed to represent this new generation
of power. After two decades of decaying social and economical conditions, it was clear that
restructuring of governmental policies were in dire need. As it was the only legal party allowed in
the USSR until the repeal of Article Six of the Constitution in 1990, the Communist Party, although
conceptualized as a homogenous dictating organization, had long harbored many variants of
ideologies. The leadership of Gorbachev was an accumulated manifestation of the reformist wing
within the ruling elites. Such a wing had always existed despite hard partiinost, and to Strayer they
were the alternative tradition which saw Leninism and democracy, the plan and the market, as
compatible with each other (Strayer, 87). Gorbachev was a student of Khrushchev s thaw who
moved much more skillfully than his ideological predecessor at pushing for real reforms reforms
that eventually destroyed the system they were supposed to save in a great stroke of irony.
However, it is true that Gorbachev did not fully comprehend the significance nor foresee the
ultimate effect of his reforms. An evolutionary leader who saw the pressing flaws of the old
system, he genuinely believed in and pushed for a workable model of socialism based on the
Soviet experience and within the existed framework of the party state. As the reforms went further

Intro of RFID
Advantages of RFID
Process of Implementation
Companies that have implemented RFID
RFID or Radio Frequency Identification as the name suggests uses Radio frequency for
identification of a particular object. It is similar to a bar code, scans to retrieve a particular and
unique information for identification. It consists of a chip, capable of carrying a maximum of
2000 bytes of data and an antenna uses electronic devices (small in size). The major feature of RFID
above other electronic identification mechanisms is that the RFID device need not be precisely
positioned wrt the scanner.
RFID technology has recently become one of the revolutionary element in supply chain

Literary Elements In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
Much like tasty ingredients assemble to prepare a delectable pizza, a compilation of literary
elements combine to form a successful novel. John Steinbeck also uses literary elements to
develop the theme in Of Mice and Men. The novel takes place in the 1930 s which lead the
characters, to deal with societal barriers. Unconventional relationships are relationships which are
atypical, unaccepted or untraditional according to society s standards, however they prevent the
characters like Lennie, George, and Candy from becoming lonely. The characters all encounter
some sort of societal thresholds dealing with the relationships they re in, and since everyone seems
to be on their own, many people in the story become lonely. Conflict, characterization... Show more

Lennie and George have an unconventional relationship which prevents them from being
lonely. George and Lennie converse about their relationship, Guys like us, are the loneliest guys
in the world...But not us! An why? Because... because I got you to look after me and you got me
to look after you and that s why! (Steinbeck 14). Lennie and George have each other, and their
unconventional relationship prevents them from becoming lonely. The italics used in the quote
give the characters voices a tone that seems like it should be read like a song. The indirect
characterization of speech and the way that Steinbeck displays the speech, with italics, it seems
as though Lennie is giddy with excitement, when dreaming about their life. Because the readers
have concluded that Lennie has a childish nature, they can infer how Lennie would be saying
this, and therefore develop his childish, naive character. Likewise, when Lennie and George
compare themselves to the society by saying, But not us! its direct characterization which shows
their us against the world type of relationship. Additionally, despite Curley s wife s place in a
conventional relationship, she confesses her loneliness to Lennie. She confides in Lennie and
tells him how her and Curley s relationship evolved, So I married Curley. Met him out to the
Riverside Dance Palace that same night...I ain t told this to nobody before... I don like Curley.
He ain t a nice fella (Steinbeck 88 89). Curley s wife settled for him, and now she can t get out of
it, because she s stuck. Steinbeck s use of italics for the word like with a negative connotation,
stresses the dislike that she has towards her husband, as well as how awful a situation she s in.
Curly doesn t treat his wife well, and by the authors application of constantly referring to her as
Curley s wife gives the feeling that it s a possessive situation, as to

Using Classical And Operant Conditioning
7. Using classical or operant conditioning, describe step by step how you can teach someone a
skill in your field. What is the behavior you want them to learn, if classical conditioning is used,
what is the US, UR, NS, CS and CR. If using operant conditioning, what is the behavior you want
to increase or decrease and what is the reinforcer that is used to increase or decrease that behavior.
(ex., if you are in business and you want to increase productivity, what would you do?). How does
their biology, motivation, cognitions and emotions influence their acquisition of the skill?
Operant conditioning could be used to increase students performance on their tests. One thing that
could be done to reinforce this behavior would be to reward the whole class for increased
performance on their tests with a pizza party. I would just say that if the whole class has an
average of 90% on the test, then they will get a pizza party. They would be more likely to study
and therefore do better on the test because they want the pizza. The students will have to have a
drive to want to get better grade and then the reward of that also. Their emotions have to be
determined to do better, if they are to get the reward that they seek.
8. Identify three strategies you can use to improve your memory and recall. Explain how you plan
to implement them.
Number 1) Rehearsing repeatedly. New memories are weak, exercise them repeatedly and they will

Benefits Of Free Bus Rides For The Elderly
Free Bus Rides for The Elderly
Should the elderly receive free bus rides? This is a controversial issue that many countries are
faced with in nowadays. People analyze this problem by taking both pros and cons into
consideration. Some people are in favor of the elderly riding bus for free because they have rights
to benefit the giving back from the society to which they devote most of their lifetime. On the other
hand, some disapproval voices emerge in terms of influence on the social economy or unequal
treatment between the elderly and the others. The reasons why I strongly believe the elderly should
receive free bus rides are lacking finance, preventing traffic accidents, and promoting public
transportations. A lack of finance is the first reason that the elderly should receive free bus rides.
A majority of the elderly is limited in their finance after they got retired; they are sometimes even
not able to pay their fundamental living needs such as medicine and groceries. According to the
U.S. Census Bureau, 12% seniors are living at the poverty level, and their income become lower
and lower with increasing age; therefore, they would have difficulty in their constant expenses such
as healthcare, housing, food, and so on. About 14.2% of all these expenses are spent on
transportation (Hawkins 2017). The elderly are struggling with housing and health bills, lack of
access to transportation; over 25 million Americans are living at or below the poverty line

opens with a quote from Keats: Difficulties nerve the spirit of a man. (298) This is a problem that
this source presents: the difficulties that Keats dealt with in his short life, specifically in the end,
and how it affected his poetry. The source speaks mostly about Keats love for nature and how
sensuous he was about it. Even though that is the opposite of the poems I want to focus on in my

sonnets were starting to address more serious and public themes, possibly to become better

how it was starting to stray away from imitation and beginning to find its own originality. Keats
was known to be an experimenter of the sonnet. The source discusses the issues that came about as
the sonnet transitioned into the Romantic period and the way it opened up for deeper feelings.
More subject matter was being written about, like disappointed love, radical politics, the natural

Is this why Keats sonnets were so different and not easily put in chronological order? His sonnets
(the good and the bad) were about different subjects (mostly about nature?) How does the added
emotional depth impact the sonnet form? The approach this source is giving is how the sonnet was
starting to come from developing lonely, sentimental, affectionate feelings and a growing interest in

The U. S. And Turkey
Consequences the 2016 Coup brought to The U.S. and Turkey
Historically, relations between the United States and Turkey were formed through mutual respect
and interest. The first U.S. interaction dates to 1831, when the United States established diplomatic
relations with the Ottoman Empire (the U.S. Department of State) in 1831 through the formal act
of diplomatic recognition between the countries. The friendship was strengthened in the early
1900s as the United States was elevated to Embassy status in 1906. During World War I

anti American sentiment among Turkish citizens. Despite the U.S. support to Turkey for the
security of the Middle East region and the corresponding benefits through the bilateral cooperation,
the two countries have currently been through several controversies.
As a safety measure toward the Islamic State, the growing presence of Muslim fundamentalism

Turkey. Despite the insistence of the country, the U.S. has not ceased the support, creating a split
between the two countries.
A coup attempted by the Peace Council, a faction of the Turkish army, was the most prime
precipitating event that led the contemporary relationship between the U.S and Turkey into a
confrontation. Since Erdogan inaugurated as the president, the approval rate was remarkably ever

The Impact of Sea Otters on Marine Ecology Essay
Sea otters (Enhydra lutris) are marine mammals capable of spending their entire lives in water.
Being carnivorous in nature, they feed on sea urchins, crabs, fishes, mussels and clams. They are
referred to as keystone species due to their profound impact on marine ecology. The interaction
between sea otters, sea urchins and kelp forests has been studied as a model of the impact of
predator prey interaction on community ecology. Sea otters are keystone predators, whose presence

Kelp forests are a source of food and habitat for dozens of other coastal species (qtd. in SoulГ© et
al 1240). Therefore, to maintain the diversity and richness of the coastal marine ecology, kelp
forests should be preserved.
Impact of sea otters on community ecology
The presence or absence of sea otters influences marine ecology at the community level. Studies
have shown that kelp forests enhance the underwater environment, providing a suitable habitat
for fishes. The declining kelp beds in California in the mid 1900 s propelled the Kelp Habitat
Improvement Project, whereby attempts were made to eliminate sea urchins that are primary
predators of kelps. Studies showed that the elimination of sea otters during the 1800s from the
Californian waters might be responsible for the dwindling numbers of kelp forests. Further
studies have also shown that the population density of sea otters affects seaweed biodiversity as
well. In a study conducted in Alaska on three different bays, the Torch Bay, Deer Harbor and the
Surge Bay, it was found that the presence of sea otters led to a decrease in the population of sea
urchins, which led to an increase in the population of seaweeds. In addition, it was also found that
annual kelps predominated the areas where sea otters were present, and perennial kelps
predominated in areas that had lesser sea otter populations (qtd. in Interaction with kelps sea otters
). As is evident, sea otters are

Building The High Trust Organization
Trust within leadership is one of the key ingredients to a great team. When in a leadership role it is
important to learn how to build and sustain effective one on one work relationships with superiors,
colleagues and subordinates to ensure that things move according to plan and all goals and
deadlines are met. When seeking guidance from leadershipit is important that one s subordinates
feel that their leader is not only capable of leading but a credible source for guidance and
instruction when needed.
According to The truth about leadership chapter 2 Kouzes states that The truth is that credibility is
the foundation of leadership. In my experience I have known this to be true. While serving in a
leadership role credibility was measured ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is very important that leaders take into account the strengths and weaknesses of team members
and consult them when delegating tasks to ensure that what they are being assigned is
something feasible for them to complete. Leaders also need to assure that when they receive
information that they share that information consistently so that every is privy to the most
accurate and up to date information In the book Building the High Trust Organization Pam
Shockley Zalabak, Sherry Morreale and Michael Hackman characterize this as communicating
with a need to share mentality(Kouzes,86). This will prove to the team that the leader sees them as
a valuable part of the team and as someone that the leader respects. In my experience I gained
more trust for those on my team and our leader by experiencing a human connection with them.
For example in between dialogue related to the projects we worked on we would talk about
thing that many of us had in common that we were unaware of such as television shows and
movies that we all watch. According to Kouzes and Posner because trust is an essential risk in the
relationship between leaders and their team there must be a mutual agreement to take the risk.
This means that not only do constituents need to trust the leader to properly handle the
information they communicate, and the resources they allocate but the leader needs to trust that
their team will handle their assigned tasks with that same care. Unlike managers leaders must
possess a deeper level of trust for their team because while a manager is the keeper for the task
the leader is the portal for the vision. In Chapter 6 Trust Rules Gigi Xie a territory manager for 17
retail gas stations (BP) in southern china used emails to keep moral up among her team and

Billy The Bully
Billy the Bully Introduction Early on a Saturday morning I was hurrying down the street to buy
a scone for my big sister at our neighborhood bakery. It was her birthday and I wanted to do
something special for her (besides the gifts we had planned for her later in the day). It was a
cloudy spring day and rain was predicted, so I was moving pretty fast because I didn t have an
umbrella. I bought the ginger scone and on the way back home I looked across the street and
saw a boy from my class pushing another younger boy. It was Billy, who was big for his size,
pushing another kid and smacking him. I stopped for a moment to watch. How rude and unfair,
I thought to myself. Billy had always been a bit rude to me and I had seen him bullying people
on the playground but he never laid a hand on me. Just then Billy looked over and saw me
watching him push the little kid around and he yelled, What are you looking at you little nerd?
That was all I needed to hear to get going back to our house. Raindrops started falling about
halfway home so I began to run. I looked back and Billy had left the little boy and was on my
side of the street and running behind me. I am not a nerd but I am a good student and I am
athletically active so I put it into another gear and left the bully well behind. He isn t really too
fat, but he is overweight and he can t run as fast as I can. Once home, I put the scone in our bread
box and went to my room to finish my math and science homework. My

New Jersey And Southern States
For a few years , New Jersey and northeastern states have had very rough winters. There was one
last year in Hamilton Township, where school was canceled for almost a month because of the
harsh weather. This year, forecasters are predicting at least one to three feet of snow that will shut
down roads and schools for days. Even flights are affected by this storm, more than 6,500 flights

New York Citys subways and buses planned to shut down completely by 11 p.m., and commuter
railroads across the Northeast also announced plans to stop running overnight, leaving workers to
scramble to get home before roads become impossible to drive on. Boston was expected to get 2 to

Managing Information Systems
The aim of this assignment is to see the requirements for developing and managing a comprehensive
Management Information system for an organisation. In today s business environment it is getting
harder and harder for organisation s to not only survive but to compete against other organisation s.
Information technology plays a big part in helping companies compete and survive. Companies that
have branches or franchises need to make sure that they can communicate with the head office so
that orders can be passed down. Most of a mangers time is spent
1 Passing information and ideas upwards to senior management to aid their decision making

Regular reports help managers perform their duties for example a summary report of sales
figures of a particular period in the year would allow managers to predict sales figures for the
coming year and plan ahead. This would not only help the manager of the store but it would also
allow the person in charge of purchasing stock, distribution, transportation, and finance to plan
ahead of time as well. The head of stock would have an idea of how much raw materials to buy,
distribution manager would have an idea of where to send it to the parts of the organisation which
are most likely to utilise it the most.
Characteristics of Management Information System
1.Management Information Systems support structured and semi structured decisions at the
operational and management control levels.
2.They are generally reporting and control oriented. They are resigned to report on existing
operations and there fore provide day to0day control operations.
3.The systems also rely on existing corporate data and data flows.

Job, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, And Song Of Song
The purpose of this paper is to summarize the main themes of Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes,
and Song of Song. The main themes are, Job: (1) Retribution Principle. (2) Wisdom, Justice, and
Sovereignty of God. (3) Mediator. Psalms: (1) Retribution Principle. (2) Kingship. (3) Nature
and Creation. Proverbs: (1) The Fear of the Lord. (2) the Retribution Principle: Part 3. (3) Human

Love. The Retribution Principle is the foundation for the book of Job. This includes the sowing
and reaping philosophy of if someone is bad, bad things happen, and if someone is good, good
things happen. However the argument by satan in this text was that this principle was always true,

Thoughts Of The Asian Crisis
Term Paper Thoughts of the Asian Crisis (1997 1998) In the period between 1997 to 1998, a
great economic storm blew the some fast developing countries, especially Thailand, Indonesia and
Malaysia. They had great economic development before the crisis, but left almost everything at the
end of the storm. The most obvious impact of the crisis is the capital outflows and currency
devaluation. So, people in those developing countries began to find who should be responding to
the crisis. International speculators were appropriate targets to be blamed due to their actives
during the crisis. The President of Indonesia, Suharto, even claimed There are [parties] trying to

Only blaming speculators for the past experience is not appropriate: the East Asian economic
structure, fiscal policy of responding the crisis and political structure possibly played more
significant roles on aggrandizing this crisis. Admittedly, the active speculators capital operation is
the catalyze of the crisis: before the crisis, those 3 Asian countries are quite similar: All of them
just endure a great economic progress for the recession of Japan in the early 1990s. The rate of
export was gradually carrying a higher weight; the real GDP had more than 8 percentage annual
growths constantly. (DeRosa 85) Also, they had a quick credit expansion for wooing the global
capital for investment. As for the section of currency exchange, Thailand and Indonesia held the
peg to the U.S dollar. Malaysia is little bit different: it did hold float exchange rate but that is
essentially a sort of dirty float which means the government will influence the direction of exchange
rate frequently to keep the exchange rate in a certain range. In anyway, those three countries tried to
use relatively sturdy currency policy and quickly increasing economic environment to attract
international capital. Admittedly, this function fairly functioning before the crisis, but there are
some potential problems are still unsolved which made their economy not as sturdy as those
countries thought

Scarlet Letter And The Other Wes Moore Analysis

made up of tiny drops of water. Even so, life is but an endless series of little details, actions,
speeches, and thoughts. And the consequences whether good or bad of even the least of them are
far reaching. He was correct because every microscopic action that we commit has an unintended
consequence. Some consequences, are good. Other consequences, on the other hand, can be
miserable. In The Scarlet Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne, and The Other Wes Moore, by Wes

The Vampire Effect Of Dracula
Not many people would think that they can be compared to Count Dracula. Considered to be one
of the most well known monsters of all time, Count Dracula sucks the blood of his victims, which
would ultimately lead to their death. While this seems like a very unique example, it can be
applied to nearly every person, specifically in the college stetting. This phenomenon that can be
linked to this monster is called the vampireeffect. First used in the book ______, this term refers to
the what happens in socialgroups due to different personality types that were caused by a
difference in economic background. Set in a college dormitory, chapter 4 of the book discusses
how there is a difference in the social lives of students who are quiet versus students who are more
outgoing. Students who were shy were generally ignored and did not seem to partake in many
social activities. While Armstrong and Hamilton suggest that the Vampire Effect arises due to the
social students knowingly ignoring and rejecting the shyer students, that is not the case. The cycle
through which the effect takes place starts with self comparison due to economic status, envy, and
self blame, and results in anxiety and self isolation. Although this is done unintentionally,
consciously known factors such debt and class also play a role in the process.
As Armstrong and Hamilton describe the social isolates , Others treated the quieter roommate as
sort of a sidekick or an invisible appendage (105).

An important part of the United States history began with slavery, although it led to economic
growth within the country, it also led to other important events in history such as the Civil War, the
Underground Railroad, and the 13th amendment. In school children are taught about slavery and
the effects it had on the United States, effects that still plague this nation to this day. One cannot

those who innocently lost their lives. Although Elmina Castle did not directly impact the United

These schools were used to further the organization s desired objectives.
Although the Taliban s territory is distinctly Afghanistan, their Pakistani foundation resonates

following the Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan as a counter to the pro communist government.
From their onset in Southern Afghanistan, the Taliban acquired a great deal of power and influence.

can be increased if technology is implemented correctly. Ehrlich, Sporte, and Sebring (2013)
reported the differences in technology use in districts in Chicago. The study found that 92 percent
of students have access to the internet and technology at home. However, the frequency of use

schools that use technology. Schools that frequently use technology have higher achieving students.
Enrich et al., (2010) stated, Technology use is ubiquitous in America s colleges and most
workplaces, and it is fast becoming accepted as fact that all students elementary and high school
must be exposed to technology (p. 1). This research is important to the proposed study because it
indicates that the use of technology is inconsistent even when there is similar availability to
technology. This research implies that researchers need to determine better ways of implementing
technology consistently. Learning Styles Hayenga Corpus (2010), researchers from the Institute for

Robert Cohn Quotes
Ernest Hemingway was born in 1899 and The Sun Also Rises was originally published in 1926.
During this time period, post war Europe was especially hesitant toward immigrant populations
and the dislike of Jews was common around the world. Hemingway used real life experiences and
people as inspiration for characters, setting and plot in the novel and supposedly created the main
character, Jake Barnes, as himself. In the Sun Also Rises, the anti semitic attitudes expressed
toward Robert Cohn reflect Hemingway s personal anti semitic beliefs, which were a product of
his time. Many aspects of Robert Cohn s character are stereotypical. One trait often found in
stereotypical Jewish characters is their fascination with money. Hemingway makes remarks
throughout the novel to imply that Cohn is always concerned with getting his money s worth, and
is only interested in arguments or sporting events if there s money involved. Cohn sent a telegram
to Jake and Bill during their fishing trip saying VENGO JUEVES COHN. Jake replies: What a
lousy telegram!... He could send ten words for the same price (Hemingway 119), implying that
Cohn was overly concerned with money. The classic Jewish... Show more content on

Since the story is set in the same general time it was written, the 1920s, it is possible that the anti
semitism in the novel purely reflected the time period s general hesitation toward immigrant
populations, and was only present in the characters minds, not Hemingway s. The idea of Jews
might be a fictional construct, created by the anti semitism of Jake and his crowd, attached to
actual Jews; Jews are made into the people whom the lost characters of The Sun Also Rises can
feel superior. And Robert Cohn is their embodiment and representative in the book (Heims

John Doe Arraignment
To begin with, since John has no legal status in America, could they just have sent him back to his
home country right? Nonetheless, the police officer should have stopped him when he realized that
John was incriminating himself and read him the Miranda Rights (Fifth Amendment). For this
reason, I believe that the Miranda Rights should be read when the arrest happens. That was the
officer s first mistake. Not reading him his rights could get the whole case thrown out or anything
said before his rights was read to him will be inadmissible in court. After taking John to the station
and begin questioning him, this is when he has the right to counsel (Sixth Amendment). The
Miranda Rights states that if you can t afford counsel then one would be appointed to you. John
Doe indeed had the right to speak to someone before the investigators began interrogating him.
Regardless of the fact the John is an immigrant, he s now in the U.S and deserves... Show more

During this time, the defendant is expected to enter a plea. When an arraignment occurs, the
defendants is told what their rights are, letting them know what they are being charged for and the
defendant has to enter a plea. According to Lauren Baldwin, Arraignment must occur within a
reasonable time after arrest. An unreasonable delay violates the defendant s federal constitutional
Sixth Amendment right to a speedy trial . In this particular, I believe that setting a conditions of
release is required since John is an immigrant. When it s all said and done, John Doe committed a
crime and should be punished for it rather he s an immigrant or not. I could understand his side of
the story but it still doesn t make what he did right. If it was up to me, I would just deport all illegal
immigrants that decide that they want to commit criminal acts back to their

The Power Of Power In Machiavelli s The Prince
The Medici was a very powerful family who started off as just a small family bank, but by using
smart, cunning and risk taking tactics, they gained and kept control over Florence for the
majority of the period of 1434 1737. Machiavelli was a political leader and author, living in
Florence at the same time as The Medici, but wasn t very fond of them. For that, The Medici had
him arrested and tortured, but despite that he went on and wrote a book called The Prince. The
Prince is a short how to book with the intentions of it being something useful for anyone who
understands it . The book describes Machiavelli s opinion on what he believes it takes to be an
extraordinary prince, and how to gain and keep full control of the people; by using his personal
experiences, observations and past historical events to prove his points. Although Machiavelli
didn t like the Medici, the advice given in The Prince illustrates the actions of the Medici family,
proving them to be powerful and extraordinary leaders. In The Prince, Machiavelli states that
having the right skills and tactics will help you gain power. He writes that there are two ways to
gain power; one becomes prince through some wicked and nefarious means , or when a private
citizen becomes prince of his native city through the favor of his fellow citizens . Agathocles the
Sicilian gained power and became prince through wicked and nefarious means , he rose through the
ranks and one day held a meeting with all the

Brave New World Vs Reality Essay
Brave New World vs. Reality
In many cases when you read a novel you may find comparisons between the quot;fictional quot;
society and your realistic one. The author may consciously or unconsciously create similarities
between these two worlds. The novelist can foresee the future and write according to this vision. In
Brave New World, Adlous Huxley envisions the future of our society and the dangerous directionit
is headed in.
Brave New World is greatly dependant upon soma, as in our worldwhere prescribed drugs and drug
abuse are prominent. This is evident when Bernard and Lenina return from the Savage Reservation.
Lenina is devastated from her experiences, so decides to take soma. It illustrates how like our
world when something upsets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People addicted to cocaine, heroine and other drugs go through a similar stage called withdrawal.
Living without the drugs seem unimaginable and frightening. If our world does not stop this
dangerous overuse of drugs we will see ourselves evolve into the frightening direction of Brave
New World and will be unable to stop it.
Physical and mental controlling (hypnopaedia) is used to teach moral lessons in Brave New
World, our world uses hypnotism for the same purposes. The incident with Ruben Rabinovich
illustrates how our world is similar to Brave New World. Ruben Rabinovivch was a young boy
who fell asleep with the radio on listening to a professor give a lecture. When he awoke the next
morning he could recite the facts he heard but, he did not know what they meant. This is similar to
our world because people use tapes to help them learn and memorize facts and speeches.
In Brave New World their society is taught moral lessons and slogans by hypnopaedia. For
example quot;a gramme is better than a damn. quot; Today we are forced into believing
propaganda and advertisements. We are bombarded with ads and pressure to buy certain things,
or believe what people tell us. In Brave New World if they do not follow propaganda they are
considered abnormal, and are forced out of society.
When we are young children we are soothed from our crying by music and the voices of our
parents. We are told we are loved and are spoken to. Throughout our lives we are

Hydraulic Fracturing And Its Effects On The Environment
Hydraulic Fracturing
Introduction
For this assignment I have chosen to look in to a subject that is in the news media spotlight. The
subject is the process of hydraulic fracturing. In this paper, we will learn about this process by
answering the following questions. First what is hydraulic fracturing and what is the process used
for. Then we will look at the actual process of hydraulic fracturing (how it works). Next we will
take a closer look at some of the chemical use during the hydraulic fracturing process. Then we
discuss the possible environmental impacts if any caused by hydraulic fracturing? Finally, we will
look some of the measures being developed to mitigate the possible impact to the environment from
hydraulic fracturing.
What Is Hydraulic Fracturing And What Is It Used For? The term hydraulic fracturing (AKA
fracking) is a common term used in today s media in reference to the oil industry. But what is
hydraulic fracturing or fracking? hydraulic fracturing defined by the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) as a process used to maximize the extraction of underground resources; including oil,
natural gas, geothermal energy, and even water (EPA, 2014). Simply put fluid and a mix of
material and chemicals are pumped into an already drilled well at high pressure to extract the
desired resource (i.e. natural gas) trapped within a solid such as shale rock, we will look at this
process and the elements used in it latter in this paper.
How Does Hydraulic

Evolution
Evolution Towards Enlightenment
Stubborn people are hard to deal with. Even after evidence is presented, they stand steadfast with
the facts they want to believe. No one is immune to this trait, no person always willing to admit
they are wrong. In 1859, Charles Darwin published The Origin of the Species (Leakey 1). His
theories had little scientific evidence to support his ideas; the book was only about what he
theorized. The people became infuriated. The possibility of humans evolving from any animal was
unheard of, especially if they cam from monkeys. People took sides, the majority holding to
Creation, the idea that some divine power had made this world and all of the creatures on it. Still
today, the sides ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The original organisms would not change to survive in their new environment. Whichever offspring
were more fitted for new environment would survive, changing the population and evolving. This is
where many people confuse evolution with the natural selection, one division of the entire
evolution theory. Regardless, as the environment changes, an organism must be able to adapt,
which in some cases means becoming more complex. As more organisms appear, competition
occurs and they are forced to fight for resources or migrate. This brief analysis of evolution is
found after hours of researching an article from the internet by Chris Colby that was published in
1996. His article sums evolution into three basic levels. Genes, the hereditary unit that carries DNA,
mutate. Individuals carrying those genes survive or are selected. Populations of individuals evolve.
There are also to divisions of evolution, micro and macroevolution. Some scientists believe that
macro is the cumulative of micro ; others believe that macro is something entirely different.
According to Darwin s initial theories and further genetic and anthropological research, the
evolution of life would have proceeded through microevolution. Still, creationists believe that
because there is little fossil evidence and or concrete evidence evolution mat be heresy. According
to Robert T. Weaver and Shirley Norris, Dr. Kent Hovind, a minister, wants to Unmask the False

Mikhail Gorbachev, the new General Secretariat in 1985, seemed to represent this new generation of power. After two decades of decaying social and economical conditions, it was clear that restructuring of governmental policies were in dire need. As it was the only legal party allowed in the USSR until the repeal of Article Six of the Constitution in 1990, the Communist Party, although conceptualized as a homogenous dictating organization, had long harbored many variants of ideologies. The leadership of Gorbachev was an accumulated manifestation of the reformist wing within the ruling elites. Such a wing had always existed despite hard partiinost, and to Strayer they were the alternative tradition which saw Leninism and democracy, the plan and the market, as compatible with each other (Strayer, 87). Lennie and George have each other, and their unconventional relationship prevents them from becoming lonely. The italics used in the quote give the characters voices a tone that seems like it should be read like a song. The indirect characterization of speech and the way that Steinbeck displays the speech, with italics, it seems as though Lennie is giddy with excitement, when dreaming about their life. Because the readers have concluded that Lennie has a childish nature, they can infer how Lennie would be saying this, and therefore develop his childish, naive character. Likewise, when Lennie and George compare themselves to the society by saying, But not us! its direct characterization which shows their us against the world type of relationship. Operant conditioning could be used to increase students performance on their tests. One thing that could be done to reinforce this behavior would be to reward the whole class for increased performance on their tests with a pizza party. I would just say that if the whole class has an average of 90% on the test, then they will get a pizza party. They would be more likely to study and therefore do better on the test because they want the pizza. This is a controversial issue that many countries are faced with in nowadays. People analyze this problem by taking both pros and cons into consideration. Some people are in favor of the elderly riding bus for free because they have rights to benefit the giving back from the society to which they devote most of their lifetime. On the other hand, some disapproval voices emerge in terms of influence on the social economy or unequal treatment between the elderly and the others. The reasons why I strongly believe the elderly should receive free bus rides are lacking finance, preventing traffic accidents, and promoting public transportations. A lack of finance is the first reason that the elderly should receive free bus rides. A majority of the elderly is limited in their finance after they got retired; they are sometimes even not able to pay their fundamental living needs such as medicine and groceries. Therefore, to maintain the diversity and richness of the coastal marine ecology, kelp forests should be preserved. Impact of sea otters on community ecology The presence or absence of sea otters influences marine ecology at the community level. Studies have shown that kelp forests enhance the underwater environment, providing a suitable habitat for fishes. The declining kelp beds in California in the mid 1900 s propelled the Kelp Habitat Improvement Project, whereby attempts were made to eliminate sea urchins that are primary predators of kelps. Studies showed that the elimination of sea otters during the 1800s from the Californian waters might be responsible for the dwindling numbers of kelp forests. Further studies have also shown that the population density of sea otters affects seaweed biodiversity as well. In a study conducted in Alaska on three different bays, the Torch Bay, Deer Harbor and the Surge Bay, it was found that the presence of sea otters led to a decrease in the population of sea urchins, which led to an increase in the population of seaweeds. It was her birthday and I wanted to do something special for her (besides the gifts we had planned for her later in the day). It was a cloudy spring day and rain was predicted, so I was moving pretty fast because I didn t have an umbrella. I bought the ginger scone and on the way back home I looked across the street and saw a boy from my class pushing another younger boy. It was Billy, who was big for his size, pushing another kid and smacking him. I stopped for a moment to watch. How rude and unfair, I thought to myself. Billy had always been a bit rude to me and I had seen him bullying people on the playground but he never laid a hand on me. Just then Billy looked over and saw me watching him push the little kid around and he yelled, What are you looking at you little nerd? That was all I needed to hear to get going back to our house. Raindrops started falling about halfway home so I began to run. I looked back and Billy had left the little boy and was on my side of the street and running behind me. I am not a nerd but I am a good student and I am athletically active so I put it into another gear and left the bully well behind. He isn t really too fat, but he is overweight and he can t run as fast as I can. Once home, I put the scone in our bread box and went to my room to finish my math and science homework. My ... Thoughts Of The Asian Crisis Term Paper Thoughts of the Asian Crisis (1997 1998) In the period between 1997 to 1998, a great economic storm blew the some fast developing countries, especially Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia. They had great economic development before the crisis, but left almost everything at the end of the storm. The most obvious impact of the crisis is the capital outflows and currency devaluation. So, people in those developing countries began to find who should be responding to the crisis. International speculators were appropriate targets to be blamed due to their actives during the crisis. The rate of export was gradually carrying a higher weight; the real GDP had more than 8 percentage annual growths constantly. (DeRosa 85) Also, they had a quick credit expansion for wooing the global capital for investment. As for the section of currency exchange, Thailand and Indonesia held the peg to the U.S dollar. Malaysia is little bit different: it did hold float exchange rate but that is essentially a sort of dirty float which means the government will influence the direction of exchange rate frequently to keep the exchange rate in a certain range. In anyway, those three countries tried to use relatively sturdy currency policy and quickly increasing economic environment to attract international capital. This phenomenon that can be linked to this monster is called the vampireeffect. First used in the book ______, this term refers to the what happens in socialgroups due to different personality types that were caused by a difference in economic background. Set in a college dormitory, chapter 4 of the book discusses how there is a difference in the social lives of students who are quiet versus students who are more outgoing. Students who were shy were generally ignored and did not seem to partake in many social activities. While Armstrong and Hamilton suggest that the Vampire Effect arises due to the social students knowingly ignoring and rejecting the shyer students, that is not the case. The cycle through which the effect takes place starts with self comparison due to economic status, envy, and self blame, and results in anxiety and self isolation. Although this is done unintentionally, consciously known factors such debt and class also play a role in the process. During this time period, post war Europe was especially hesitant toward immigrant populations and the dislike of Jews was common around the world. Hemingway used real life experiences and people as inspiration for characters, setting and plot in the novel and supposedly created the main character, Jake Barnes, as himself. In the Sun Also Rises, the anti semitic attitudes expressed toward Robert Cohn reflect Hemingway s personal anti semitic beliefs, which were a product of his time. Many aspects of Robert Cohn s character are stereotypical. One trait often found in stereotypical Jewish characters is their fascination with money. Hemingway makes remarks throughout the novel to imply that Cohn is always concerned with getting his money s worth, and is only interested in arguments or sporting events if there s money involved. The Power Of Power In Machiavelli s The Prince The Medici was a very powerful family who started off as just a small family bank, but by using smart, cunning and risk taking tactics, they gained and kept control over Florence for the majority of the period of 1434 1737. Machiavelli was a political leader and author, living in Florence at the same time as The Medici, but wasn t very fond of them. For that, The Medici had him arrested and tortured, but despite that he went on and wrote a book called The Prince. The Prince is a short how to book with the intentions of it being something useful for anyone who understands it . The book describes Machiavelli s opinion on what he believes it takes to be an extraordinary prince, and how to gain and keep full control of the people; by using his personal experiences, observations and past historical events to prove his points. Although Machiavelli didn t like the Medici, the advice given in The Prince illustrates the actions of the Medici family, proving them to be powerful and extraordinary leaders. In The Prince, Machiavelli states that having the right skills and tactics will help you gain power. He writes that there are two ways to gain power; one becomes prince through some wicked and nefarious means , or when a private citizen becomes prince of his native city through the favor of his fellow citizens . Agathocles the Sicilian gained power and became prince through wicked and nefarious means , he rose through the ranks and one day held a meeting with all the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Brave New World Vs Reality Essay Brave New World vs. Reality In many cases when you read a novel you may find comparisons between the quot;fictional quot; society and your realistic one. The author may consciously or unconsciously create similarities between these two worlds. The novelist can foresee the future and write according to this vision. In Brave New World, Adlous Huxley envisions the future of our society and the dangerous directionit is headed in. Brave New World is greatly dependant upon soma, as in our worldwhere prescribed drugs and drug abuse are prominent. This is evident when Bernard and Lenina return from the Savage Reservation. Lenina is devastated from her experiences, so decides to take soma. It illustrates how like our world when something upsets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People addicted to cocaine, heroine and other drugs go through a similar stage called withdrawal. Living without the drugs seem unimaginable and frightening. If our world does not stop this dangerous overuse of drugs we will see ourselves evolve into the frightening direction of Brave New World and will be unable to stop it. Physical and mental controlling (hypnopaedia) is used to teach moral lessons in Brave New World, our world uses hypnotism for the same purposes. The incident with Ruben Rabinovich illustrates how our world is similar to Brave New World. Ruben Rabinovivch was a young boy who fell asleep with the radio on listening to a professor give a lecture. When he awoke the next morning he could recite the facts he heard but, he did not know what they meant. This is similar to our world because people use tapes to help them learn and memorize facts and speeches. In Brave New World their society is taught moral lessons and slogans by hypnopaedia. For example quot;a gramme is better than a damn. quot; Today we are forced into believing propaganda and advertisements. We are bombarded with ads and pressure to buy certain things, or believe what people tell us. In Brave New World if they do not follow propaganda they are considered abnormal, and are forced out of society. When we are young children we are soothed from our crying by music and the voices of our parents. We are told we are loved and are spoken to. Throughout our lives we are ... • 44. Hydraulic Fracturing And Its Effects On The Environment Hydraulic Fracturing Introduction For this assignment I have chosen to look in to a subject that is in the news media spotlight. The subject is the process of hydraulic fracturing. In this paper, we will learn about this process by answering the following questions. First what is hydraulic fracturing and what is the process used for. Then we will look at the actual process of hydraulic fracturing (how it works). Next we will take a closer look at some of the chemical use during the hydraulic fracturing process. Then we discuss the possible environmental impacts if any caused by hydraulic fracturing? Finally, we will look some of the measures being developed to mitigate the possible impact to the environment from hydraulic fracturing. What Is Hydraulic Fracturing And What Is It Used For? The term hydraulic fracturing (AKA fracking) is a common term used in today s media in reference to the oil industry. But what is hydraulic fracturing or fracking? hydraulic fracturing defined by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a process used to maximize the extraction of underground resources; including oil, natural gas, geothermal energy, and even water (EPA, 2014). Simply put fluid and a mix of material and chemicals are pumped into an already drilled well at high pressure to extract the desired resource (i.e. natural gas) trapped within a solid such as shale rock, we will look at this process and the elements used in it latter in this paper. • 45. Evolution Evolution Towards Enlightenment Stubborn people are hard to deal with. Even after evidence is presented, they stand steadfast with the facts they want to believe. No one is immune to this trait, no person always willing to admit they are wrong. In 1859, Charles Darwin published The Origin of the Species (Leakey 1). His theories had little scientific evidence to support his ideas; the book was only about what he theorized. The people became infuriated. The possibility of humans evolving from any animal was unheard of, especially if they cam from monkeys. People took sides, the majority holding to Creation, the idea that some divine power had made this world and all of the creatures on it. Still today, the sides ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The original organisms would not change to survive in their new environment. Whichever offspring were more fitted for new environment would survive, changing the population and evolving. This is where many people confuse evolution with the natural selection, one division of the entire evolution theory. Regardless, as the environment changes, an organism must be able to adapt, which in some cases means becoming more complex. As more organisms appear, competition occurs and they are forced to fight for resources or migrate. This brief analysis of evolution is found after hours of researching an article from the internet by Chris Colby that was published in 1996. His article sums evolution into three basic levels. Genes, the hereditary unit that carries DNA, mutate. Individuals carrying those genes survive or are selected. Populations of individuals evolve. There are also to divisions of evolution, micro and macroevolution. Some scientists believe that macro is the cumulative of micro ; others believe that macro is something entirely different. According to Darwin s initial theories and further genetic and anthropological research, the evolution of life would have proceeded through microevolution. Still, creationists believe that because there is little fossil evidence and or concrete evidence evolution mat be heresy. According to Robert T.
