The Order of Things – What College Rankings Really Tell Us...
The Order of Things What College Rankings Really Tell Us by Malcolm Gladwell
The main argument of this article is that it doesn t matter who comes out first place in a certain
ranking, it all depends on who s doing the ranking and on what variables the ranking is taking
place. Malcolm Gladwell believes that a ranking can be heterogenous (diverse in content), as long
as it doesn t try to be too comprehensive (including all or nearly all aspects of something). He also
believes that a ranking can be comprehensive as long as it doesn t try to measure things that are
heterogeneous. Also even if the ranking is trying to be both heterogeneous and comprehensive at
the same time, it ll only work properly if the subjects being ranked are ... Show more content on

It requires someone to make a surmise about the intentions of the deceased at the time and
although in some cases that is easy, in most cases there s ambiguity. Different coroners and
different cultures vary widely in the way that they choose to interpret that ambiguity. A suicide
may be called a suicide, a homocide, an accident, or left undetermined, depending on the culture
the deceased followed. As a result, nobody can truly know whether suicide rankings are real.
This article explains in finite detail how if the variables on which a certain ranking is based on
is changed, the ranking itself will also change especially if the ranking is both heterogenous and
comprehensive as many variables are being taken into account at once. Another aspect that can
change rankings is who the rankings is done by as everyone has their own opinions and thoughts
and depending on what that specific person thinks or feels about a certain subject will alter how
they will rank a certain subject compared to somebody else. For example if somebody was told
to rank colleges based on their graduation rate performance , the school with the highest
graduation rate will be ranked as first. On the other hand if those same colleges were ranked based
on tuition fees, in this case the variable the ranking was based on has changed, there is a possibilty
the school ranked first for the highest graduation rate would be ranked

Wmt Valuation Essay
Summary Valuing Wal Mart In utilizing the fundamental data provided by the 2010 Richard Ivey
School of Business Foundation article titled Valuing Wal Mart 2010, I have made the following
conclusions regarding the value of Wal Mart (WMT) stock as of February 2012. * Utilizing the
constant growth dividend discount model (DDM), the value of Wal Mart s stock price is $60.20.
The most recent closing price of Wal Mart stock was $53.48. Given this information, the constant
growth DDM valuation suggests that the Wal Mart stock is currently undervalued. * Utilizing the
two stage DDM approach, the value of Wal Mart s stock price is $83.95. Similar to the constant

Through the mid part of the 80 s and into the early 90 s Wal Mart had still produced annual
earnings growth over 20%. It wasn t until the early part of the century where Wal Mart had
produced earnings growth in the low teens to single digits. With that as supporting material, Wal
Mart has already experienced it s growth and transition phases of its business cycle and is more
in their maturity stage of their business. As of 2010, Wal Mart is the largest retailer in the world
with more than $400 billion in annual revenues across more than 8,000 stores. It would be. It
would not be justifiable to utilize the three stage dividend approach in valuing such a mature

Ethical Dilemma Of The Antibiotic
Cindy Valentin
Ethical Dilemma Assignment
NR 328 Pediatric
Chamberlain University
05/26/17
INTRODUCTION
This dilemma is for a 2 week old baby diagnosed with a gastrointestinal perforation two days after
birth, which was later corrected with a temporary ileostomy. It is not clear how long the baby will
have the stoma for, but it will be corrected with a reanastamosis eventually. The baby is going to
continue antibiotics after discharge per doctor recommendation.
Ethical Dilemma Statement
Should we suggest that the baby goes home on oral antibiotics after discharge?
The benefits of this would be that the delivery of the antibiotic is less invasive. It will also decrease
her risk for further infection. This could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can lead to more complications such as further infection or sepsis. IV antibiotic therapy may
result in phlebitis, extravasation injury, thrombosis, and bacteremia (NCBI, 2015). This is
dangerous for a newborn, especially since she is just getting over an infection from her bowel
perforation.
The author heard about this pediatric ethical dilemma in this way: My clinical instructor allowed
me to attend the NICU. Upon arrival of this unit, I was paired off with a nurse who was taking
care of two neonates. I shadowed the nurse and assisted her with caring for the infants, and became
aware of this baby s condition and plan of care.
The people involved in this dilemma were the MD, the baby, her father, mother, and nurse.
The Provisions from the ANA code of Ethics that apply to this dilemma are these:
One Provision that applies is Provision # 1, state the provision: The nurse practices with
compassion and respect for the inherent dignity, worth, and unique attributes of every person.
Another Provision that applies is Provision # 3, state the provision: The nurse promotes, advocates
for, and protects the rights, health, and safety of the patient.
The above stated provisions apply in this way: (Discuss each provision and how it applies to the
ethical dilemma, use at least one professional journal article for support).

What issues managed IKEA while implementing their new company s strategy? IKEA does a lot
of effort to implement their new company s strategy for 2020, so called, Positive Planet

control their entire global supply chain. IKEA with other of retailers, were lighted on having

appeared for IKEA in 2013. In fact, IKEA removed from the sale in fifteen European countries

Analysis Of Nietzsche s Full Fathom Five
Jackson Pollock s painting titled Full Fathom Five reveals black and silver splatters of paint that
aren t necessarily straight. His painting includes colors such as blue, black, white and even specks
of orange. In addition, there are no figures which can be easily deciphered and the paint seems to
have been spilled all over the canvas. Thus, the paintingdoes not display calculation or a lot of
logic. Instead, his creation seems to thrive off creativity and disorder. So I ask, how do we make
sense of such an unreasonable painting?
The answer can be found within the philosophical ideas of Friedrich Nietzsche. Nietzsche
introduces to readers both the Apollonian force and the Dionysian force is his book The Birth of
Tragedy. To be specific,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Under such an intoxicating force, Pollock did not think to create symmetrical lines or clear cut
images. We see this throughout the contrasting paint splatters on the canvas. This intoxicating
force also influences his artistic vision. For example, in Full Fathom five Pollock frees himself
of the rules a figurative painter, or Apollonian artist, would follow. An Apollonian artist following
the rules of the force of the line and image would include symmetry and/or logic in their artwork.
These rules also include creating distinguishable figures for people to view. The idea that an
Apollonian artist would create clear images is presented when Nietzsche tells reader to ...imagine
how, through Apollonian dream inspiration, his own state, i.e., his oneness with the inmost ground
of the world, is revealed to him in a symbolical dream image (Cahn and Meskin 224). In this
quote, Nietzsche refers to the Apollonian artist as an artist who sees the world in symbolical
images and then goes on to create them. Likewise, the Apollonian artist creates works of images
and does not give us any sense of intoxication or ambiguity. In this way, Nietzsche would say that
Pollock unleashed himself from any boundaries given to an artist following the Apollonian rules of
art. The outcome of this dissociation is a Dionysian influenced painting displaying expressive paint
splatters placed in unique patterns.

Boeing s Product Is Planes Essay
Boeing s product is aircrafts. These aircrafts include commercial airplanes freight airplanes, and
Boeing Business Jets (BBJ). All of Boeing s aircrafts stem from their five jet families: 737, 747,
767, 777, 787 (Boeing, 2016). Each family differs in size, engine, build, range, and capacity in
order to meet the needs of all Boeingcustomers. The commercial section of Boeing aircraft
focuses on mass transit of passengers and has a jet from each of the five families offered
(Boeing, 2016). The commercial airplanes range from small 50 person planes that travel
between relatively close cities, to large 600 passenger planes that travel across the globe. The
freight section of Boeing aircraft focuses on planes capable of carrying goods to be delivered to
and from different areas or regions (Boeing, 2016). These freight versions of the Boeing aircraft
family do not come equipped with any of their commercial aircraft such as cabin seating,
overhead storage, lights, air vents, or any cabin service features. These are planes intended to
hold a very small crew and are basically hollowed out in order to store as much as possible.
Lastly, Boeing also offers a wide range of BBJs from each of its families of aircraft (Boeing,
2016). BBJs are much more luxurious than a commercial version of an airplane. They are intended
for business executives and to be used by companies or corporations. The BBJs come equipped
with couches, TVs, offices, larger restrooms, and other luxury features that

The Divine Comedy Dante By Dante Alighieri
Perfection. Society has been taught to strive for that and normally perfection is accompanied by a
religion that exemplifies it and the reward tends to be unimaginably amazing. The problem is that
no one is perfect, and because there is no way to measure that we try our best or we give up and
follow other paths. Dante Alighieri, born in Florence, Italy in 1265, was born into a very power
hungry age. Morality was not very high on someone s to do list. In the Divine ComedyDante makes
a point of writing about those that have done him wrong and placing them where the belong . But
Dante does not only expose the bad people in his life but the bad people all over the world and he
also includes himself. Dante writes his book to scare others... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

story to go on because it established the road for the poem. The phrase divulges that Hell is
almost like a city where there is interminable pain and suffering and anguish. In Hell there are
nine circles and each of those circles is centralizes it s punishment around a type of sin. In the
first circle it is called Limbo where the unbaptized and virtuous pagans are grieving all day every
day from not being with God. The second circle was for the lustful who are blown around by a
never ending and violent wind. In the fifth circle are the Wrathful which contain those who were
angry and did not let things go. In the fifth circle is a man named Filippo Argenti, a man who Dante
hated and wished more punishment upon. Dante got his wish. Circle VI embodies the Heretics and
where Farinata, Dante s enemy in politics, resides. Both Filippo and Farinata did Dante wrong but
that is not the only reason they ended up in Hell. They ended up there because they sinned and the
punishment fit their sins. Dante not only punished the

I Am A Time Spent Writing
With my headphones positioned uncomfortably in my ears, I sat slumped against my headboard.
The inelegant curving of the wood dug into my shoulders, I didn t pay attention to the discomfort
of the plastic pressing into my ears or the misshapen wood digging into my skin as my mind trailed
off with a streamof words that filled cracks and gaps like water in a dry river bed. The urge to write
was tugging at the edges of my mind, but despondency precluded me from putting pen to paper.
Eighteen years of memories were painting pictures in my head, but the right words eluded me.
Was what I wanted to write worth the time spent writing?
Who would read it?
Would I ever share what I wrote?
No, no! My writing would be shot down before the first page was finished.
I was pulled from my remembrances by the apical pain shooting down my neck, I hadn t realized
I d been slouching against my headboard for so long. I can remember rubbing my closed eyes
with the back of my hands as if to wipe away memories. I pulled the headphones from my ears
and laid them on the small wooden table beside my oversized bed. The bed seemed to swallow the
room, the walls were a worn and washed out blue. The ceiling was stark white with a bumpy and
uneven texture. I had starred at that ceiling many nights tracing pictures with my fingers in the air.
I blew out a breath and pulled the cool cotton sheets up around my neck along with the comforter.
Its frayed edges tickled my skin, I glanced at my

Narrative and Genre Features in the Opening Sequence of Pulp Fiction
A narrative is the story itself and generic features are elements expected to be contained within a
certain category of film.
Pulp Fiction is labeled as a gangster film; however gangster films follow very precise generic
elements such a death, contraband s, violence, wealth and strong family loyalties.
Pulp Fiction doe follow the above mentioned elements but the locations of the action are
unorthodox. Screen gangster activities tend to take place in sophisticated up market places as

In a traditional narrative we expect to see characters that have prominent roles in the film to be in
the opening sequence; also you d expect the story contained in the opening sequence to be
followed up. This is not the case in Pulp Fiction. We leave the opening scene in a moment of
action. Therefore we are set up with the expectation of what happens next? In a traditional linear
narrative this is a question which is likely to be answered. However in Pulp Fiction the next scene
contains different characters and a different plot. We do not return to the opening story till the end
of the film.
The next scene contains the opening credits. The music is upbeat and compliments the emotional
intensity of the two thieves situation. The music also suggests we are still with the two thieves story.
In the middle of the title track we hear a radio changing dial and a new track plays Jungle Boogie.
This suggests unpredictability. This is also a subversion of traditions in itself as it doesn t happen
in any other film.
We enter the next scene mid way into a conversation. We do not know of they re related to the

The Use Of Igbo Culture In Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart
In 1958, Chinua Achebe wrote his first novel, Things Fall Apart. It centers around Okonkwo, a
powerful clan leader man that lives in the village of Igbo people, Umuofia. The story follows him
and the rest of his village as they are colonized by white Christians. Achebe wrote the novel to teach
people about the Igbo culture and break stereotypes made about indigenous Africans. Chinua
Achebeused literary devices such as similes, proverbs, and folktales to help illustrate Igbo culture.
The similes used in Things Fall Apart can give the reader insights into the Igbo culture. Achebe s
similes tend to be nature related. For example, in chapter one, Okonkwo is described as as slippery
as water. This simile is used to describe Okonkwo s skill ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Proverbs are short sayings giving advice or stating facts One proverb, used to teach children
about responsibility, is, As elders said, if a child washed his hands, he could eat with kings. (p7)
This is especially relevant to Okonkwo. His father was very irresponsible and lazy, and was
always poor; he never got to eat with kings. Okonkwo wanted to be the opposite of his father, so
he did everything he could to get a high status. These proverbs are used to communicate important
traits and values that are important to the Igbo people.
As well as similes and proverbs, folktales, stories that are passed down by word of mouth through
generations. are used to show the Igbo culture to readers. OneA folktale Achebe used is about a
quarrel between the Earth and Sun. In this, the Sun withheld rain for years, and the Earth dried
up. No crops could grow and many were dying, so a vulture begs the Sky for rain. The sky pities
the vulture and brings lots of rain. It was used to show men that need to be humble and ask for help.
In Things Fall Apart, Chinua Achebe works to show the readers what the Igbo culture is like to
sharpen the contrast between them and the colonists. To do this, he uses similes, proverbs, and
folktales. These are bases around nature, hunting, and other important aspects of Igbo culture. They
also show the values of the Igbo

My Interest In School Psychology Is A Sheer Result Of My
My interest in School Psychology is a sheer result of my experiences at various workplaces and
certain decisions I have opted for in my life. These experiences have prepared me to pursue
advanced studies in the field, while strengthening my passion and in providing me with the
background required to succeed in this important area. In order to achieve my full potential in the
field, I look forward to entering MEd/EdS program at the University of Massachusetts, Boston.

These interactions not only helped me understand various behavioral problems in children, but
fueled my interest in the field of child psychology.
Although marital commitments required me to relocate to a new place, my passion for
understanding child psychology continued. As a non paid volunteer, I worked for the welfare of
abused children from red light areas. I still consider those three years to be the most rewarding
ones in my potential career, owing to unique learning experiences and novel challenges faced
almost on a daily basis. In retrospect, my experience in handling the academic, emotional and
social issues of these kids during the Sunshine Foundation s after school program, was surely the
first concrete step in the field of child Psychology.
My decision to pursue graduate education in child psychology is accumulation of real life
experiences. These experiences gave me a feeling of extreme helplessness and developed an
urge to seek advanced knowledge in the field of child psychology. While working with abused,
abandoned children from red light areas, I came across one beautiful, reticent seven year old

Why I Am A Computer Program
Whilst other children my age were out playing in the sun, I was indoors tinkering with an old
desktop I put together. The refurbished systems disposed of by were like treasures to me. Every
other day I would climb into the skips to find components I could use to upgrade my system. I
remember feeling ecstatic about the fact that I had literally built the system from scratch,
installed an operating system and could browse the internet using a dial up CD provided by
AOL. Given the lack of security software at the time, it was not long before I was confronted by
a virus. The start bar had vanished and I could not control the mouse or keyboard, and upon
every reboot, a daunting logo image would be maximized, rendering my desktop useless. I was
furious but also curious as to how a person could create such a program. It wasn t the malicious
nature of the program itself which sparked my curiosity, more so the fact that this individual had
created something that did exactly as they wanted. I decided I would attempt to find out how one
can write a program and came across Visual Basic 6 after a few yahoo searches. After writing my
first Hello World program, I managed to maximize an image on the desktop and disabled both
mouse and keyboard input. I then had the program run at start up, recreating the initial behaviour of
the virus. This motivated me to continue learningthrough trial and error and after a year had

A Decrease in Unemployment Rates
Recently, many businesses are cutting jobs and not hiring new staff in the face of higher energy
and fuel prices along with a decrease in demand with retail sales for June 2013, as people have
lower business confidence, means that they have less disposable income. This demand deficient
was a main part of the cyclical unemployment problems experienced before this decade. (William
Schomberg and Christine Murray 2013)
The sudden decrease in the value of property and the demand for it due to credit crunch has seen a
significant number of construction companies and buildings create many unemployed people.
Employer confidence has decreased to its lowest level for 12 years. In other words, many
businesses may not hire new staff. (William Schomberg and Christine Murray 2013)
With the rise of 12,000 newly unemployed people in the recent quarter, the government has seen the
end of unemployment falls. This seems to continue into the near future, with no relief yet prominent
in the issues of less demand and decreased consumer spending. Further, more people are continuing
to lose their jobs and this will only cause the reduction in spending power of families, decrease
money in the economy and increase in reliance upon the state. (William Schomberg and Christine
Murray 2013)
Evaluation

the past decade. However, there have been large changes observed in the nature of unemployment

Analysis Of Martin Luther King s The Day Essay
Niebuhr strongly emphasizes realities in the democratic process which impede any kind of quick
abolition of segregation and quick passage of anti discrimination laws. And given these realities,
patience and faith are commended to African Americans in order to sustain them through this
transition. Here, he also gives content to how this gradual shift will take place, citing Martin Luther
King s argument that suffrage will make way for all other changes. In the memorable Prayer
Pilgrimage to Washington, Niebuhr remembers, the youthful Negro champion, the Rev. Martin
Luther King, wisely insisted that if only our democracy would give the Negro the elemental right
of suffrage, all other injustice would be eliminated in time and would be eliminated without
violence. Dr. King s logic is certainly irrefutable. Niebuhr agrees with King. However long the
process may take, once voting rights are achieved, all other injustice would be eliminated in time
and without violence. Like Niebuhr s comments on South Africa, these last observations hit a
surprisingly optimistic note. In other writings, Niebuhr takes note of a certain ineradicable racismas
a form of group pride, which is related to realist appraisals of gradual change. In this piece, he
suggests this racism can be eliminated within the limits of democratic possibilities, precisely
through the passage of a voting rights bill which will allow African Americans equal representation
in a democracy which has historically

Analysis Of I Hear America Singing, By Walt Whitman
Walt Whitman is viewed as the father of free verse, in spite of the fact that he didn t concoct it.
Free verse is verse without normal examples of rhyme, beat or meter. Note: free verse has
musicality and meter. The example, nonetheless, is unpredictable. Beat is regularly made using
other lovely gadgets, including redundancy, similar sounding word usage, and other sound gadgets.
The type of Whitman s verse coordinates the substance. Whitman praises the flexibility of the
individual and a festival of opportunity delighted in the United States. Since the demeanor toward
singular freedom in America was a break from European standpoint, he felt his own unique verse
expected to part from European literature too.
Whitman expounded on normal individuals, which isn t, by and large, a break from European
literature. The British Romantics praised the person, for instance, and they too wrote in a style
which was a break from conventional structures also.
Whitman commended the body and felt that the body was a door to the spirit, like in the poem I
hear America Singing . In the rhyme sequence Whitman esteemed himself above rigors of rhyme
and meter since Whitman utilized free verses uninhibitedly. In any case, his verse is not the verses
controlled tightly in order to maintain the rhyming sequence. The melody is a posting of manual
laborers, their work substance and chiming in the way. In the synecdoche we see all the I Hear
America Singing scholarly terms, none makes its check

Organizational Strategy For A Successful Business
A successful business is made up of various parts so it is imperative that managers develop the
right mix of objectives and personnel if they want to have a fighting chance to survive in today s
global economy. An up and coming business starts with strategic, operational and tactical plans
developed by top executives and other managers. These plans define what the company will
accomplish and how they are going to achieve it. Effective leaders know a plan is only as strong
as the people they have to do the work. Bosses cannot be the worker, front line supervisor and
senior managementall at once. They have to rely on their workforce to get the job done. Managers
establish a business plan and then, they turn their focus on the resources required to realize their
goals. The most critical resource is their labor force. Organizational strategy is only effective if
managers develop a human resourcesplan that specifies the appropriate manpower needed to run an
effective business.
An organizational plan defines the purpose of a company, but a business is lifeless without its
people. In order to hire, train, and promote a quality talent pool, managers in a large firm will turn
to a Human Resource manager or personnel manager to find potential candidates (Plunkett, Allen
Attner, 2013). Just like most functions within an organization, there is a process for staffing that is
made up of eight elements. The eight elements of the staffing process include human resource

Similarities Between The Greek And Roman Civilizations
The Roman civilization a civilization that was created by the Etruscans in north central Italy, also
now known as Tuscany erupted around the first millennium, also around the same time the Greek
civilization was flourishing in the Greek main land. The Etruscans are people of no known origin.
As of now, they are believed to have been migrating from the Asia Minor lands to where they have
settled and started their civilization. The Etruscans civilization seemed to have been influenced by
the classical and early Greek civilizations; religious and art wise. As similar as they were the Greek
and roman civilizations the Romans have made sure to manipulate the art into one that fits their
religion and civilization, a civilization built on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For an instance, while in the Greek temples, temples were surrounded by continuous rows of
colonnades with one cella at the center and with entrances on both ends, the Etruscan temples
were built with a tripartite cella that had a one direction orientation mostly south that it s walls
extended to the side walls of the temple. Also, unlike the Greeks, who have built their temples on
only a stylobate, the Romans usually built their temples on platforms that are reached by either a
gravel ramp or a staircase till reaching the colonnaded double entrance. However, the change of
plans wasn t the only change, The Romans also took the classical orders established by the Greeks
into modification, where they have manipulated the classical orders into a hybrid order called the
Tuscan , an order that is based on combining the ionic and Doric orders together, where it had the
basic characteristics to the Doric without the fluted shafts and had the ionic capital with larger

Ruby Ridge
There were many events that caused the bombing that could have been prevented by the federal
government. One of the main events that was turned into a motive for the bombing was the raid
on Ruby Ridge. As Gunn said, the raid on Ruby Ridge was started when federal agents went to
the home of Randy Weaver, a notorious white supremacist leader, to arrest him for failing to
report in court for a weapons charge (647). The agents were met with much resistance by Weaver
and his son. As Gunn states, Weaver s son started a shootout with the agents on August 22, 1992,
which lead to a week long standoff between the agents and Weaver s family (647). Marcovitz
states, the standoff ended on August 31, 1992 leaving Weaver s son and wife dead, one federal...

As Gunn says, there was little shooting between the two sides after the first couple of days and
the majority of the standoff was spent negotiating (650). Marcovitz states, after not much other
progress the federal agents decided to flush out the compound with tear gas; it forced a few
people out but a majority of them stayed in the compound, setting fires and even shooting
themselves (70). Marcovitz also states, on April 19, 1993 the siege was concluded and the body
count reached eighty five, including Koresh who was shot (70). This event, especially so close
to the Ruby Ridge incident, sparked even more outrage among white supremacists and they
called for retaliation against all the agents and anyone else involved in the siege. As Gunn says,
McVeigh who was freshly out of the army and who was slowly spiraling decided to throw
himself into the passion he felt towards the anti government groups (647). If the federal
government hadn t used such excessive force than the public backlash would have been less
severe and would possibly have stopped radicals like McVeigh from seeking revenge. The author
states, Investigators later learned that McVeigh hated the government for its raid on the Branch
Davidian Compound on April 19, 1993 in Waco, Texas, as well as the incident at Ruby Ridge,

Columbine Quote Analysis
Why They Did It While reading Columbine, the only thing readers can ask themselves is, Why
did they do this? The only thing a reader can do is make his/her assumption based off of the facts
given throughout the book as it is not clearly stated. By reading the book, it is very easy to
assume that both Eric and Dylan were depressed and did not feel like they were treated fairly.
Eric was the more violent of the two, although both had significant dealings with the shootings
taken place. Their illnesses brought them together, making them feel as if they clicked or
understood each other more than anyone else. Dylan is very easily identified as the most
depressed of the two. In chapter thirty five, Dylan stated just how depressed he was. I get more
depressed with each day, he complained. Why did friends keep deserting him? They did not,
actually, but Dylan perceived it that way. He fretted about Eric dumping him, too. Wanna die, he
repeated. (page 198) Dylan felt as if he was all alone and death equaled freedom to him now.
Dylan was not worried about anyone but himself and how he felt. His depression had consumed his
thoughts and made him think of the unimaginable. This very well could have been the reason

His psychopathic ways showed through the tragedy of the shooting at Columbine. Eric is easily
percepted as the mastermind of the Columbine shooting. In chapter forty eight, it explains how
we can infer this by his planner. Each killer left hundreds of pages of writings and drawings and
schedules in their day planners, and Eric s are riddled with plans, logs, and results of experiments;
Dylan shows virtually no effort. Eric acquired the guns, the ammo, and apparently the material for
the bombs, and did the planning and the construction. (page 305) Eric was taken as a psychopath
for his violent ways and how he wrote in his journal. He detailed the murders out vividly and talked

Undergrad Personal Statement
When I entered college, I had little idea of what I wanted to study. Eventually, I found two
majors that have been most fulfilling, Russian and International Studies. These majors have
also led me to areas of public service I never before considered. While I knew about positions in
the Defense Department and in intelligence, I quickly learned that my foreign language abilities
were valuable outside these capacities. Although I have an interest in working internationally, I
recognize there are many ways to serve meaningfully in the United States. As an undergrad, I
worked part time in warehouse off campus. While I value my education and all of the
opportunities it has provided me, this was one of the most educational experiences I have had.
Working with men who were supporting families on a meager wage was truly eye opening to me
and made me question many of my preconceived notions. One man s well water quality was so
poor that he brought empty milk jugs to fill and take home to his family. Other coworkers
recounted their experiences as children, living in poor neighborhoods and on government
assistance. These accounts illustrated how much work there is to be done in the United States and
how government programs do not always reach those who need... Show more content on

Hypothesis:The OFDI flowing to emerging market countries plays a more important role in

I will use the panel data on China s OFDI to 60 countries during 2007 2015.The data can be

Smoking Is A Controversial Topic On Modern Society
When talking about smoking one phrase always pops up in a person s mind, Smoking Kills .
Considered as one of the biggest public health disasters in the world smoking is a very
controversial topic in modern society. As of recent times due to the link smoking has with serious
health issues, many advertisement have been made to make people aware of the dangers. In the
advertisement SmokingKills the hand that holds the cigaretteis compared to that of a gun. Since a
gun has a dangerous atmosphere the artist of the advertisement makes the cigarette assume the
same characteristic. The artist also utilizes the rhetorical appeals of logos and pathos through
the comparison of the cigarette and the gun. The audience this advertisement is trying to solicit
a response from can arguably be those who are already smokers and others who do not know of
how serious the threat of smoking is. Those that are already heavy smokers would feel a sense of
worry for their health do to the effect that smoking is depicted to have on their health. While it
may also have no effect due to the fact that many smokers already realize the effect that the habit
has on their body. To them it is already too late to stop because they are addicted or unconcern
with the situation. These people consider ads of this context to be an attack on their life
preferences, thus causing them to avoid ads of this context. In doing so they miss the main point of
the argument and end up not acquire any real awareness

Kant’s Practical Imperative in the Film The Insider Essay
This principle is referred to as Kant s practical imperative and is an important principle for an
ethical system which says that each human being is an end in himself or herself. No human being
should be thought of or used merely as a means for someone else end. Dr. Jeffrey Wigand the main
protagonist of The Insiderportrays himself to be a conflicted individual as he makes decisions
throughout the movie. Against an undetermined future, he ruminates about what he knows is right
for example, receiving threats, the phone ringing at odd hours. He makes most of his decisions by
weighing the cost and benefits, which may be referred to as Kant s principle the end justifies the

The Kantian perspective would consider Lowell actions to be unethical, as he encourage another

U.s. Bilateral Trade Agreements
As discussed before, the recent decades has seen proliferation of Preferential Trade Agreements
(PTAs), of which bilateral and regional trade agreements are a part. Of the 162 member countries,
Mongolia was the only WTO member without PFA by 2005 (WTO, 2016). There are several
motivations behind bilateral trade negotiations, originating from the state of the economic and
political situation of participating nations (McMahon, 2006). In the absence of broader trade
agreements, bilateral trade agreements accomplish the objectives of market expansion and trade
liberalisation of nations. Such agreements also affect the domestic front positively by decreasing
cost of imported goods, resulting in lower prices of consumer goods and spurring... Show more

The recently signed Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) (signed on 4th February, 2016) by US and
12 Pacific Rim nations has be seen as one such agreement (Feldman, 2015). The intent of TTP,
according to Feldman (2015), is to pursue the strategy of competitive liberalisation, it was first
pursued by the US President Bush in 2003, in which bilateral, regional and global trade
negotiations would complement and reinstate each another (Sbragia, 2010). The US strategy
aimed to create a competition for liberalisation among its trading partners so that trade reforms in
one market led to similar reforms and tariff reduction in other markets (Chan, 2005). The period
witnessed many trading partners re negotiate their trade pacts with the US, thereby fulfilling the
US objective to increase its sphere of influence and hegemony (Sbargia, 2010). Through TTP, the
US now seeks to increase its sphere of influence in the Pacific Rim along with gaining economic
benefits. Since the participating nations account for 40% of the world s GDP, any rules set by
these will have global repercussions (Cao, 2015). The estimates of economic gains from the treaty,
however, currently account for only 0.5% of US GDP (Rines, 2015). This strengthens the argument
that the TTP is less about economic benefits and more about putting down a legal

The United States, Colonialism, And Imperialism
Throughout american history, examples of the United States domination of the political, economic,
and social aspects of other countries can be seen. This domination, also known as imperialism, was
primarily caused by a growing sense of nationalism, the influence of supply and demand, and a
desire to maintain global military power. Imperialism is categorized into three different groups:
colony, protectorate, sphere of influence. TRANSITION SENTENCE
Colony imperialism is when a territory or other area of lady is governed directly by a foreign
country. A prime example of colony imperialism is the Purchase of Alaska. The United States
Secretary of States, William Seward wanted Alaska since 1860 because of its potential trade
value and resources such as timber, gold, and trout. The purchase of Alaska began in June 30th
1861 when gold was discovered in Alaska for the first time, sparking the United States and other
colonizing powers interest in the territory. Russia feared that they would lose Alaska so they
began to discuss selling it to the United State in 1866. . There was disapproval on both sides of
the trade. Russian were upset at the amount of money put into settling Alaskan territories that
would be lost after the sale of Alaska. Americans didn t see the purpose of the sale and one

people that he could create a death ray, saying that he could fire a condensed amount of particles

the lesser of the species, granted that was a popular opinion at the time. The most insane

The Big Issue of Piracy
Piracy
Piracy is a big issue in the gaming industry and is happening all the time and companies are
trying their best to get rid of this issue. The problem with trying to get rid of this issue is that there
will always be people figuring out loopholes in the defense of piracy.
There are some smart people who make a lot of money pirating items such as Movies for making
money. There are people who have made millions of dollars using this illegal way to steal what is
not theirs. Most of the time piracy does not impact the consumer because the most popular form
of piracy is downloading music. People pirate items for to get a cheaper price out of things or to
sell to another person for a higher price then what they pirated it for. If a company s product is
being Pirated one solution they might try is to stop making new products for release or they
might take disciplinary action and get the police involved. Pirating is a very scummy way to
make money and it really hurts the company that made the product. Piracy is not good for the
economy and it hurts more than you can imagine. The people that use piracy are usually very
poor and doing it to make money to support themselves and their family. I ve seen my friend
illegally download music and it really made me sad because I know in the end my friend is going to
get hurt in one way or the other. Piracy can happen in many forms but usually happens as a video

beyond what was expected. She was pulling herself up and standing. I would often notice her

Once it landed, she headed for the ball to check out what happened. More than once, I witnessed
another infant in the room take the toy she was using away from her. Surprisingly, instead of
crying, she decided to solve the problem. She simply, looked around and grabbed another toy.
This also shows that she is beginning to self regulate her emotions. Also, when she was trying to
get ahold of the papers I had in my lap, I decided to hide them from her to observe what her
response would be. She curiously looked around trying to determine where it went. She didn t try
to find the paper, but she recognized that it disappeared. She was more attracted to the exciting and
noisy objects. There was one object in the room that worked like a noisy version of an hour class.
After I would flip the toy, she would watch the beads travel to the bottom, then she attempted to flip
the toy herself. She used her thumb and index finger to grab onto the object and even though she
couldn t flip it correctly, she definitely attempted. She began to get frustrated and attempted until
she was successful.
There was not a lot of verbalizing from her during the observation, but the verbalizations I did
observe were indicators the developmental milestones she has reached. She was making many
sounds like babababa and making consonant sounds. I observed her responding to sounds I made
by laughing or producing quick sounds. She even

Oil And Natural Gas Deep Under The Surface Of The Earth...
Discussion point 1: In order to explore for oil and natural gas deep under the surface of the earth
Chevron uses seismic technology. Oil and Natural gas are mostly found in reservoir rocks. In
order to find the reservoirs Chevron employs seismic technology by sending the sound waves
deep inside the earth and using geophones listening to the bounced back waves. Geophones are
devices, which are used as electronic ears, which records the signal when the sound comes back
from earth. The sound bounced back and signal looks like a squiggle. When numerous squiggles
are placed serially inline. We can see the structures, which have a slice or cross section of the earth.
And after collecting the seismic data geologists, data engineers work on interpreting the seismic
data to find the formations and structures, which holds oil and natural gas reservoirs. And finally
field team will drill the specific locations according to the geologists report. Chevron has 50 percent
success rate in finding the oil and natural gas using seismic technology.

women were required to play the role of June Cleaver. Mothers need to care for the children and

There are many debates over the focus of the added daycare expense. Children are often only put
into daycare to help assist the working mother. In return, this adds more pressure to the mother,
because daycare is an added expense. In the old days men worked while the wives stayed at
home. This helped to eliminate the added expense of daycare. Now mothers want to work and
choose to use daycare. The question is if the family can afford the daycare expense. Some of the
mothers who work, their salaries pay just the daycare expense. Their wages are not helping their
families; the extra wages are just breaking even. If mothers choose to work, they have to decide
if the family can basically live on one income. Furthermore, there is the issue about the addition
of a working mother s income, what happens if the parents divorce, the husband passes away, or
the husband becomes injured, and he can not work? The working mother can be beneficial. If a
mother has a career, and a solid financial income, it can secure that the mother, and her family will
be more financially stable. With the possible loss of the main income source, this can be
devastating to the mother, and her children. The mother would have to worry more about the lack
of income instead of making the choice of sending her children to daycare. In fact studies have
shown that children who attend daycare are more successful in socializing as they

What Caused for the Reform of Campaign Finance? The reformers passed these provisions in
response to corruption, which culminated in Watergate 1972 presidential campaign (Wright, 1003).
The reformers found that these excesses were fueled by contributions collected for political gain.
Their goal was to protect the political process from distortion and corruption(Wright, 1003).
Money also caused for the reform of campaign finance. Money does facilitate communication of
political preferences and prejudice (Wright, 1004). It also does influence the outcome of elections.

to a change in global economy. She shrunk the public sector to favour privatized industry. She
came into power seeking to reduce inflation, reduce the budget deficit, increase economic
efficiency, increase home ownership, and reduce power of the trade unions. As will become
evident, Thatcher s controversial election changed western economics into a more capitalist
market which led to great economic growth in the UK and other western countries, greater social
inequality in Britain, and helped pave the way to power for women in the western world. Margaret
Thatcher s economic and political Legacy has shaped the western world. Thatcher denounced the
prolonged experiment of socialism in Britain as a miserable failure in every respect. Thatcher s
economic policies, aided by Reaganomics in the United States, promoted free trade, open markets,
privatization, and deregulation of the financial sector which was

Because our nervous system is wired to need others, rejection is painful. Romantic rejection
especially hurts and missing connection share the evolutionary purpose of survival and
reproduction. Ideally, loneliness should encourage you reach out to others and maintain your
relationships.
A UCLA study confirms that sensitivity to emotional painresides in the same area of the brain as
physical pain they can hurt equally. Our reaction to pain is influenced by genetics. If we have
increased sensitivity to physical pain, we re more vulnerable to feelings of rejection. Moreover, love
stimulates such strong feel good neuro chemicals that rejection can feel like withdrawal from a
drug, says anthropologist Helen Fisher. It can compel us to engage in obsessive thinking and
compulsive behavior. This proved true even for tsetse flies in lab experiments.
Most people start to feel better 11 weeks following rejection and report a sense of personal growth;
similarly after divorce, partners start to feel better after months, not years. However,

The Workplace Culture Assessment identifies gaps between the culture you intend to create and the
one that employees actually experience. Findings from the Culture Assessment uncover whether

In my research about the criteria used in judging Great Place to Work, I felt like it would be
important to identify how the standards relate to Human Resource practices. Looking back at the
nine criteria used a few criteria stood out to me that relates to Human Resources practices. The first
being developing and hiring. Those two are crucial in Human Resources. Their role is to ensure
proper hiring practices to attract and retain talent for their organizations. If an employee is hired

Alka Seltzer Dissolving at Different Temperatures Essay
Alka Seltzer Dissolving at Different Temperatures
The variable that I will change will be the temperature of the water that the Alka Seltzer is put in.
For my results I will measure the time taken for the Alka seltzer tablet to completely dissolve in
water at different temperatures.
Input variables:
* Varying surface area of Alka Seltzer tablet, i.e. if cut into smaller pieces or crushed it will
increase the surface area. (If the surface area is increased (more powdered) the rate of reaction also
increases. This means that there are more collisions between the solid and liquid.)
* Amount of tap water H2O used, i.e. volume (ml).
* Amount of Alka Seltzer tablets used, i.e. quantityof tablets.
(one is used)
* ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
* As pH decreases, acidity in solution is high. This makes H+ ions in solution readily available for
HCO3 ions in the tablets, hence making it fizz quickly forming carbon dioxide and water. So as
pH decreases, the rate of reaction increases as well.
Preliminary Work:
I did this preliminary work using the following apparatus. The results obtained are tabulated below:
Apparatus:
В· 300ml beaker
В· Tap water
В· Alka Seltzer Tablets
В· Thermometer
В· Bunsen Burner
В· Tripod
В· Heat mat
В· Gauze
В· Goggles
Method:
В· I set up the apparatus as shown in the diagram. I then placed a thermometer into the beaker
which I already filled with 150ml of water. I then set the water to the required temperature by
heating it
(although I did not have to do this for the first temperature which was 20В°C, where I just kept the
water as it was without heating it).
When the water reached the required temperature I placed an alka seltzer tablet into it, and as I did
so I started the timer. When Alka seltzer tablet dissolved (just until the actual tablet was not visible
anymore, even though there was still some white scum in the water) I stopped timing and wrote

inside the prisons and for those who are being effected by second hand smoking. Therefore the
government has a huge interest to forbid using of tobacco inside the prisons. Second, in pursuing
this governmental interest, the South Dakota Department of Correction (SDDOC) took several
measures to prevent such security and order issues and to eliminate the negative effects of using
tobacco inside the facilities, but each time, the inmates still extract the tobacco from the mixture

Manipulation Of Brutus In Shakespeare s Julius Caesar
I would have to agree with Antony in saying that Brutus was the noblest Roman of them all. Not
only is he smart but he only conspired against Caesar for the sake of Rome. He believes that Caesar
was not a good leader and had too big of an ego. Other characters acted out of their own selfish
reasons like greed and their want for power. Brutus truly loves his country and is devoted to it and
it s people but this strong devotion may also be his weakness.
Since Brutus is so devoted to Rome this allows him to be easily manipulated Cassius to use that to
manipulate Brutus ad convince him to conspire against Caesar. At first, In act one, Cassius tells
Brutus that Caesar is no better than him and that Brutus ancestors even helped found Rome. Later
in the act he tricks Brutus by sending him the various letters. Cassius sent letters to Brutus, all in

instance is when Brutus allows Mark Antony to speak at Caesar s funeral. After Antony gives a
better speech than Brutus the people of Rome begin to Rally against Brutus. The third is when
Brutus decides to fight Antony and Octavias even though Cassius said it would be

The Temporary Assistance For Needy Families
Abstract
This paper discusses the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program that was
established in 1996. It examines the development and goals of the policy as well as addresses
the target population that benefits from this program. A review of the agencies associated with
TANF and the benefits the program provides to its clients is also given. In addition, the funding
sources of TANF are addressed. Lastly, it examines the social issue this program is meant to
address. Policy Paper 1: Analysis of Temporary Assistance for Needy FamiliesProgram
Introduction
The Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) is a federally funded program that was
created to assist needy families in becoming self sufficient. According to the U.S. Department of
Health Human Services, TANF has four major purposes. (U.S. Department of Health Human
Services, 2015) The first is to provide assistance to needy families so that children can be cared
for in their own homes . The second is to reduce the dependency of needy parents by promoting
job preparation, work and marriage . The third is to prevent and reduce the incidence of out of
wedlock pregnancies . The final purpose is to encourage the formation and maintenance of two
parent families . The Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program allows the States
flexibility in identifying criteria for the populations served. However, there are a few general and
federally imposed restrictions that are as follows. States must

Memory Database And Cloud Computing
Consider In memory Databases and Cloud Computing In Memory Database / Cloud Computing
Approach The industrial use of databases is advancing to the point where modern and fast solutions
are required in most industries. Plattner (2011) states that Sub second response time and real time
analytics are key requirements for applications that allow natural human computer interactions. We
envision users of enterprise applications to interact with their software tools in such a natural way,
just like any Internet user interacts with a web search engine today by refining search results on the
fly when the initial results are not satisfying (Plattner, 2011). Keeping up with the South River
hospital and pharmacy s growth requires keeping up with this database technology. Subsequent
queries are the second, third, and so on, queries similar to when web users perform a search using
their search engine, only to refine the specifics to remove results non sequitur from their intended
query. A sub second response from the database is needed to keep the users mind on the task at
hand and to not wander off. As Plattner states: Any interval sufficiently longer than the speed of
thought interval will be detected as waiting time and the user s mind starts wandering to other
topics, which is a process that cannot be consciously controlled. How this affects our users be they
clinical or pharmacy, is increased accuracy to healthcare through technological advancement.

Dna Profiling And The Legal System
DNA Profiling
In forensics, when using a DNA profile or evidence it has to follow guidelines usually given by
the legal system. DNA profiling is a very powerful method used for forensic identification, and
there has never been a case where two individuals have the same DNA profile.
DNA is a long curved structure, made up of pairs of four specific bases: adenine, guanine,
cytosine, and thymine, is the repository of a code from which all of our cells are made. The code is
made up of base pairs which look like the rungs of a ladder, and are joined by alternating
phosphate and sugar groups, which may be compared to the ladder s sides or legs. The bases
adenine and thymine form what is known as one base pair, and the bases cytosine and guanine
form the second base pair.
The DNA in humans carries almost one and a half billion pairs of these bases within one strand of
DNA. It is the order, or sequencing of these pairs that determines what information is available for
the making and repairing of our bodies.
These base pairs and groups are connected to form a ribbon like structure which curls into what is
known as a double helix or spiral. The spiral form provides stability to the structure, and the
sequencing pattern might be thought of as letters which combine into words that communicate the
necessary information needed by the cells in order to reproduce and replenish themselves. Much of
human DNA is non coding and appears to have no purpose that has been determined at this

The Five Forms Of Ancient Greece
With one cursory overview of Ancient Greece and its diverse topography, it only stands to reason
that ruling the related multitude of distinct poleis scattered throughout its territories, might require
different forms of governments, as well. In fact, befitting of such a landscape, Greece employed a
variety of unique ruling structures within its collective borders. The principal five forms, to be
further examined here within, were monarchy, aristocracy, oligarchy, tyranny, and democracy.
(Brand, n.d.)
When early settlers first started forming their polis, the inhabitants would select one of their group
as its leader. For the successful survival of the group, this person was often the strongest, most
powerful member. With time, this position... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eventually this led to two different political responses from the aristocrats. Some tried weak
attempts to spread the power of influence beyond the richest, such as Solon and his reforms for

the real authority among the strongest, wealthiest and most influential. This latter method gave rise
to the third regime structure, called oligarchy, from the Greek, oligarkhia, meaning, government of
the few. (oligarchy, 2018) Sparta was the most famous of Greek

How Characteristics Of Culture Maintain Capitalist Society
The purpose of this paper is to examine how characteristics of culture maintain capitalist society. I
will be using Theodor Adorno and Max Horkheimer s The culture industry: enlightenment as mass
deception, as the backbone of my analysis. This will be accomplished by assessing aspects of
society such as: monopoly capitalism, the entertainment industry and relevance to modern day
society. This paper argues that capitalism transformed cultureinto an ideological means of
domination, and acts as brainwashing tool over the masses.
Capitalism in The Concise Encyclopedia of Sociology is defined as: the system that provides for
needs and wants, animated by a particular ethos, coordinated and organized by establishing
practices, regulations, and laws, privileging particular types of knowledge. (Weber 1927, 47).
Theodor Adomo and Max Horkheimer created a term known as culture industry which is the
commercial commodification, and the mass production of pseudo culture by corporations (1947,
p.29). The creation of the culture industry resulted in the standardisation of the cultural form, which
eliminated an individual s ability to think critically. This occurred because of the greed that
capitalism creates, the heads of production firms mass produce cultural goods that are aimed at
people s desires to increase profitability. They argued that capitalism abandoned its liberal roots and
began to monopolize industries, thus creating monopoly capitalism.
In society, the culture

  • 2. The Order of Things – What College Rankings Really Tell Us... The Order of Things What College Rankings Really Tell Us by Malcolm Gladwell The main argument of this article is that it doesn t matter who comes out first place in a certain ranking, it all depends on who s doing the ranking and on what variables the ranking is taking place. Malcolm Gladwell believes that a ranking can be heterogenous (diverse in content), as long as it doesn t try to be too comprehensive (including all or nearly all aspects of something). He also believes that a ranking can be comprehensive as long as it doesn t try to measure things that are heterogeneous. Also even if the ranking is trying to be both heterogeneous and comprehensive at the same time, it ll only work properly if the subjects being ranked are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It requires someone to make a surmise about the intentions of the deceased at the time and although in some cases that is easy, in most cases there s ambiguity. Different coroners and different cultures vary widely in the way that they choose to interpret that ambiguity. A suicide may be called a suicide, a homocide, an accident, or left undetermined, depending on the culture the deceased followed. As a result, nobody can truly know whether suicide rankings are real. This article explains in finite detail how if the variables on which a certain ranking is based on is changed, the ranking itself will also change especially if the ranking is both heterogenous and comprehensive as many variables are being taken into account at once. Another aspect that can change rankings is who the rankings is done by as everyone has their own opinions and thoughts and depending on what that specific person thinks or feels about a certain subject will alter how they will rank a certain subject compared to somebody else. For example if somebody was told to rank colleges based on their graduation rate performance , the school with the highest graduation rate will be ranked as first. On the other hand if those same colleges were ranked based on tuition fees, in this case the variable the ranking was based on has changed, there is a possibilty the school ranked first for the highest graduation rate would be ranked ... • 4. Ethical Dilemma Of The Antibiotic Cindy Valentin Ethical Dilemma Assignment NR 328 Pediatric Chamberlain University 05/26/17 INTRODUCTION This dilemma is for a 2 week old baby diagnosed with a gastrointestinal perforation two days after birth, which was later corrected with a temporary ileostomy. It is not clear how long the baby will have the stoma for, but it will be corrected with a reanastamosis eventually. The baby is going to continue antibiotics after discharge per doctor recommendation. Ethical Dilemma Statement Should we suggest that the baby goes home on oral antibiotics after discharge? This can lead to more complications such as further infection or sepsis. IV antibiotic therapy may result in phlebitis, extravasation injury, thrombosis, and bacteremia (NCBI, 2015). The author heard about this pediatric ethical dilemma in this way: My clinical instructor allowed me to attend the NICU. Upon arrival of this unit, I was paired off with a nurse who was taking care of two neonates. I shadowed the nurse and assisted her with caring for the infants, and became aware of this baby s condition and plan of care. • 6. Analysis Of Nietzsche s Full Fathom Five Jackson Pollock s painting titled Full Fathom Five reveals black and silver splatters of paint that aren t necessarily straight. His painting includes colors such as blue, black, white and even specks of orange. In addition, there are no figures which can be easily deciphered and the paint seems to have been spilled all over the canvas. Thus, the paintingdoes not display calculation or a lot of logic. Instead, his creation seems to thrive off creativity and disorder. So I ask, how do we make sense of such an unreasonable painting? The answer can be found within the philosophical ideas of Friedrich Nietzsche. Nietzsche introduces to readers both the Apollonian force and the Dionysian force is his book The Birth of Tragedy. To be specific,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Under such an intoxicating force, Pollock did not think to create symmetrical lines or clear cut images. We see this throughout the contrasting paint splatters on the canvas. This intoxicating force also influences his artistic vision. For example, in Full Fathom five Pollock frees himself of the rules a figurative painter, or Apollonian artist, would follow. An Apollonian artist following the rules of the force of the line and image would include symmetry and/or logic in their artwork. These rules also include creating distinguishable figures for people to view. The idea that an Apollonian artist would create clear images is presented when Nietzsche tells reader to ...imagine how, through Apollonian dream inspiration, his own state, i.e., his oneness with the inmost ground of the world, is revealed to him in a symbolical dream image (Cahn and Meskin 224). In this quote, Nietzsche refers to the Apollonian artist as an artist who sees the world in symbolical images and then goes on to create them. Likewise, the Apollonian artist creates works of images and does not give us any sense of intoxication or ambiguity. In this way, Nietzsche would say that Pollock unleashed himself from any boundaries given to an artist following the Apollonian rules of art. The outcome of this dissociation is a Dionysian influenced painting displaying expressive paint splatters placed in unique patterns. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All of Boeing s aircrafts stem from their five jet families: 737, 747, 767, 777, 787 (Boeing, 2016). Each family differs in size, engine, build, range, and capacity in order to meet the needs of all Boeingcustomers. The commercial section of Boeing aircraft focuses on mass transit of passengers and has a jet from each of the five families offered (Boeing, 2016). The commercial airplanes range from small 50 person planes that travel between relatively close cities, to large 600 passenger planes that travel across the globe. The freight section of Boeing aircraft focuses on planes capable of carrying goods to be delivered to and from different areas or regions (Boeing, 2016). These freight versions of the Boeing aircraft family do not come equipped with any of their commercial aircraft such as cabin seating, overhead storage, lights, air vents, or any cabin service features. These are planes intended to hold a very small crew and are basically hollowed out in order to store as much as possible. Lastly, Boeing also offers a wide range of BBJs from each of its families of aircraft (Boeing, 2016). BBJs are much more luxurious than a commercial version of an airplane. They are intended for business executives and to be used by companies or corporations. The BBJs come equipped with couches, TVs, offices, larger restrooms, and other luxury features that ... Society has been taught to strive for that and normally perfection is accompanied by a religion that exemplifies it and the reward tends to be unimaginably amazing. The problem is that no one is perfect, and because there is no way to measure that we try our best or we give up and follow other paths. Dante Alighieri, born in Florence, Italy in 1265, was born into a very power hungry age. Morality was not very high on someone s to do list. In the Divine ComedyDante makes a point of writing about those that have done him wrong and placing them where the belong . The phrase divulges that Hell is almost like a city where there is interminable pain and suffering and anguish. In Hell there are nine circles and each of those circles is centralizes it s punishment around a type of sin. In the first circle it is called Limbo where the unbaptized and virtuous pagans are grieving all day every day from not being with God. The second circle was for the lustful who are blown around by a never ending and violent wind. In the fifth circle are the Wrathful which contain those who were angry and did not let things go. In the fifth circle is a man named Filippo Argenti, a man who Dante hated and wished more punishment upon. Dante got his wish. The inelegant curving of the wood dug into my shoulders, I didn t pay attention to the discomfort of the plastic pressing into my ears or the misshapen wood digging into my skin as my mind trailed off with a streamof words that filled cracks and gaps like water in a dry river bed. The urge to write was tugging at the edges of my mind, but despondency precluded me from putting pen to paper. Eighteen years of memories were painting pictures in my head, but the right words eluded me. Was what I wanted to write worth the time spent writing? Who would read it? Would I ever share what I wrote? No, no! My writing would be shot down before the first page was finished. I was pulled from my remembrances by the apical pain shooting down my neck, I hadn t realized I d been slouching against my headboard for so long. I can remember rubbing my closed eyes with the back of my hands as if to wipe away memories. I pulled the headphones from my ears and laid them on the small wooden table beside my oversized bed. The bed seemed to swallow the room, the walls were a worn and washed out blue. The ceiling was stark white with a bumpy and uneven texture. I had starred at that ceiling many nights tracing pictures with my fingers in the air. I blew out a breath and pulled the cool cotton sheets up around my neck along with the comforter. In a traditional linear narrative this is a question which is likely to be answered. However in Pulp Fiction the next scene contains different characters and a different plot. We do not return to the opening story till the end of the film. The next scene contains the opening credits. The music is upbeat and compliments the emotional intensity of the two thieves situation. The music also suggests we are still with the two thieves story. In the middle of the title track we hear a radio changing dial and a new track plays Jungle Boogie. This suggests unpredictability. This is also a subversion of traditions in itself as it doesn t happen in any other film. We enter the next scene mid way into a conversation. • 11. The Use Of Igbo Culture In Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart In 1958, Chinua Achebe wrote his first novel, Things Fall Apart. It centers around Okonkwo, a powerful clan leader man that lives in the village of Igbo people, Umuofia. The story follows him and the rest of his village as they are colonized by white Christians. Achebe wrote the novel to teach people about the Igbo culture and break stereotypes made about indigenous Africans. Chinua Achebeused literary devices such as similes, proverbs, and folktales to help illustrate Igbo culture. The similes used in Things Fall Apart can give the reader insights into the Igbo culture. Achebe s similes tend to be nature related. For example, in chapter one, Okonkwo is described as as slippery as water. This simile is used to describe Okonkwo s skill ... Proverbs are short sayings giving advice or stating facts One proverb, used to teach children about responsibility, is, As elders said, if a child washed his hands, he could eat with kings. (p7) This is especially relevant to Okonkwo. His father was very irresponsible and lazy, and was always poor; he never got to eat with kings. Okonkwo wanted to be the opposite of his father, so he did everything he could to get a high status. These proverbs are used to communicate important traits and values that are important to the Igbo people. As well as similes and proverbs, folktales, stories that are passed down by word of mouth through generations. are used to show the Igbo culture to readers. OneA folktale Achebe used is about a quarrel between the Earth and Sun. In this, the Sun withheld rain for years, and the Earth dried up. No crops could grow and many were dying, so a vulture begs the Sky for rain. The sky pities the vulture and brings lots of rain. It was used to show men that need to be humble and ask for help. In Things Fall Apart, Chinua Achebe works to show the readers what the Igbo culture is like to sharpen the contrast between them and the colonists. To do this, he uses similes, proverbs, and folktales. These are bases around nature, hunting, and other important aspects of Igbo culture. They also show the values of the Igbo ... In order to achieve my full potential in the field, I look forward to entering MEd/EdS program at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. I still consider those three years to be the most rewarding ones in my potential career, owing to unique learning experiences and novel challenges faced almost on a daily basis. The refurbished systems disposed of by were like treasures to me. Every other day I would climb into the skips to find components I could use to upgrade my system. I remember feeling ecstatic about the fact that I had literally built the system from scratch, installed an operating system and could browse the internet using a dial up CD provided by AOL. Given the lack of security software at the time, it was not long before I was confronted by a virus. The start bar had vanished and I could not control the mouse or keyboard, and upon every reboot, a daunting logo image would be maximized, rendering my desktop useless. I was furious but also curious as to how a person could create such a program. It wasn t the malicious nature of the program itself which sparked my curiosity, more so the fact that this individual had created something that did exactly as they wanted. I decided I would attempt to find out how one can write a program and came across Visual Basic 6 after a few yahoo searches. After writing my first Hello World program, I managed to maximize an image on the desktop and disabled both mouse and keyboard input. A Decrease in Unemployment Rates Recently, many businesses are cutting jobs and not hiring new staff in the face of higher energy and fuel prices along with a decrease in demand with retail sales for June 2013, as people have lower business confidence, means that they have less disposable income. This demand deficient was a main part of the cyclical unemployment problems experienced before this decade. (William Schomberg and Christine Murray 2013) The sudden decrease in the value of property and the demand for it due to credit crunch has seen a significant number of construction companies and buildings create many unemployed people. Employer confidence has decreased to its lowest level for 12 years. In other words, many businesses may not hire new staff. (William Schomberg and Christine Murray 2013) With the rise of 12,000 newly unemployed people in the recent quarter, the government has seen the end of unemployment falls. This seems to continue into the near future, with no relief yet prominent in the issues of less demand and decreased consumer spending. Further, more people are continuing to lose their jobs and this will only cause the reduction in spending power of families, decrease money in the economy and increase in reliance upon the state. • 15. Analysis Of Martin Luther King s The Day Essay Niebuhr strongly emphasizes realities in the democratic process which impede any kind of quick abolition of segregation and quick passage of anti discrimination laws. And given these realities, patience and faith are commended to African Americans in order to sustain them through this transition. Here, he also gives content to how this gradual shift will take place, citing Martin Luther King s argument that suffrage will make way for all other changes. In the memorable Prayer Pilgrimage to Washington, Niebuhr remembers, the youthful Negro champion, the Rev. Martin Luther King, wisely insisted that if only our democracy would give the Negro the elemental right of suffrage, all other injustice would be eliminated in time and would be eliminated without violence. Dr. King s logic is certainly irrefutable. Niebuhr agrees with King. However long the process may take, once voting rights are achieved, all other injustice would be eliminated in time and without violence. Like Niebuhr s comments on South Africa, these last observations hit a surprisingly optimistic note. In other writings, Niebuhr takes note of a certain ineradicable racismas a form of group pride, which is related to realist appraisals of gradual change. In this piece, he suggests this racism can be eliminated within the limits of democratic possibilities, precisely through the passage of a voting rights bill which will allow African Americans equal representation in a democracy which has historically ... • 17. Organizational Strategy For A Successful Business A successful business is made up of various parts so it is imperative that managers develop the right mix of objectives and personnel if they want to have a fighting chance to survive in today s global economy. An up and coming business starts with strategic, operational and tactical plans developed by top executives and other managers. These plans define what the company will accomplish and how they are going to achieve it. Effective leaders know a plan is only as strong as the people they have to do the work. Bosses cannot be the worker, front line supervisor and senior managementall at once. They have to rely on their workforce to get the job done. Managers establish a business plan and then, they turn their focus on the resources required to realize their goals. The most critical resource is their labor force. Organizational strategy is only effective if managers develop a human resourcesplan that specifies the appropriate manpower needed to run an effective business. An organizational plan defines the purpose of a company, but a business is lifeless without its people. In order to hire, train, and promote a quality talent pool, managers in a large firm will turn to a Human Resource manager or personnel manager to find potential candidates (Plunkett, Allen Attner, 2013). One of the main events that was turned into a motive for the bombing was the raid on Ruby Ridge. The recently signed Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) (signed on 4th February, 2016) by US and 12 Pacific Rim nations has be seen as one such agreement (Feldman, 2015). The US strategy aimed to create a competition for liberalisation among its trading partners so that trade reforms in one market led to similar reforms and tariff reduction in other markets (Chan, 2005). The period witnessed many trading partners re negotiate their trade pacts with the US, thereby fulfilling the US objective to increase its sphere of influence and hegemony (Sbargia, 2010). The United States, Colonialism, And Imperialism Throughout american history, examples of the United States domination of the political, economic, and social aspects of other countries can be seen. This domination, also known as imperialism, was primarily caused by a growing sense of nationalism, the influence of supply and demand, and a desire to maintain global military power. Imperialism is categorized into three different groups: colony, protectorate, sphere of influence. TRANSITION SENTENCE Colony imperialism is when a territory or other area of lady is governed directly by a foreign country. A prime example of colony imperialism is the Purchase of Alaska. The United States Secretary of States, William Seward wanted Alaska since 1860 because of its potential trade value and resources such as timber, gold, and trout. The purchase of Alaska began in June 30th 1861 when gold was discovered in Alaska for the first time, sparking the United States and other colonizing powers interest in the territory. • 31. The Big Issue of Piracy Piracy Piracy is a big issue in the gaming industry and is happening all the time and companies are trying their best to get rid of this issue. The problem with trying to get rid of this issue is that there will always be people figuring out loopholes in the defense of piracy. There are some smart people who make a lot of money pirating items such as Movies for making money. There are people who have made millions of dollars using this illegal way to steal what is not theirs. Most of the time piracy does not impact the consumer because the most popular form of piracy is downloading music. People pirate items for to get a cheaper price out of things or to sell to another person for a higher price then what they pirated it for. If a company s product is being Pirated one solution they might try is to stop making new products for release or they might take disciplinary action and get the police involved. Pirating is a very scummy way to make money and it really hurts the company that made the product. Piracy is not good for the economy and it hurts more than you can imagine. The people that use piracy are usually very poor and doing it to make money to support themselves and their family. I ve seen my friend illegally download music and it really made me sad because I know in the end my friend is going to get hurt in one way or the other. Through observing her, I noticed her motor skills were excelling beyond what was expected. She was pulling herself up and standing. I would often notice her attempting to walk after she was standing or even balancing on one foot. She would often be standing on her toes and using her arms to hold herself up. Also, when she was trying to get ahold of the papers I had in my lap, I decided to hide them from her to observe what her response would be. She curiously looked around trying to determine where it went. She didn t try to find the paper, but she recognized that it disappeared. She was more attracted to the exciting and noisy objects. There was one object in the room that worked like a noisy version of an hour class. After I would flip the toy, she would watch the beads travel to the bottom, then she attempted to flip the toy herself. She used her thumb and index finger to grab onto the object and even though she couldn t flip it correctly, she definitely attempted. She began to get frustrated and attempted until she was successful. Oil and Natural gas are mostly found in reservoir rocks. In order to find the reservoirs Chevron employs seismic technology by sending the sound waves deep inside the earth and using geophones listening to the bounced back waves. Geophones are devices, which are used as electronic ears, which records the signal when the sound comes back from earth. The sound bounced back and signal looks like a squiggle. When numerous squiggles are placed serially inline. We can see the structures, which have a slice or cross section of the earth. And after collecting the seismic data geologists, data engineers work on interpreting the seismic data to find the formations and structures, which holds oil and natural gas reservoirs. And finally field team will drill the specific locations according to the geologists report. Chevron has 50 percent success rate in finding the oil and natural gas using seismic technology. After many protests, women wanted to empower their equal rights, and become career women. Thanks to women s perseverance, today women are able to work, and be just as qualified as men in their careers. There are many debates over the focus of the added daycare expense. Children are often only put into daycare to help assist the working mother. In return, this adds more pressure to the mother, because daycare is an added expense. In the old days men worked while the wives stayed at home. This helped to eliminate the added expense of daycare. Now mothers want to work and choose to use daycare. The question is if the family can afford the daycare expense. Some of the mothers who work, their salaries pay just the daycare expense. Their wages are not helping their families; the extra wages are just breaking even. If mothers choose to work, they have to decide if the family can basically live on one income. Furthermore, there is the issue about the addition of a working mother s income, what happens if the parents divorce, the husband passes away, or the husband becomes injured, and he can not work? The working mother can be beneficial. If a mother has a career, and a solid financial income, it can secure that the mother, and her family will be more financially stable. With the possible loss of the main income source, this can be devastating to the mother, and her children. She replaced the Labour party s James Callaghan, and ended the Labour party s 5 year leadership. Thatcher was elected around the same time as her North American counterparts Ronald Raegan and Brian Mulroney who had similar conservative economic ideologies, which led to a change in global economy. She shrunk the public sector to favour privatized industry. She came into power seeking to reduce inflation, reduce the budget deficit, increase economic efficiency, increase home ownership, and reduce power of the trade unions. As will become evident, Thatcher s controversial election changed western economics into a more capitalist market which led to great economic growth in the UK and other western countries, greater social inequality in Britain, and helped pave the way to power for women in the western world. Memory Database And Cloud Computing Consider In memory Databases and Cloud Computing In Memory Database / Cloud Computing Approach The industrial use of databases is advancing to the point where modern and fast solutions are required in most industries. Plattner (2011) states that Sub second response time and real time analytics are key requirements for applications that allow natural human computer interactions. We envision users of enterprise applications to interact with their software tools in such a natural way, just like any Internet user interacts with a web search engine today by refining search results on the fly when the initial results are not satisfying (Plattner, 2011). Keeping up with the South River hospital and pharmacy s growth requires keeping up with this database technology. Subsequent queries are the second, third, and so on, queries similar to when web users perform a search using their search engine, only to refine the specifics to remove results non sequitur from their intended query. A sub second response from the database is needed to keep the users mind on the task at hand and to not wander off. As Plattner states: Any interval sufficiently longer than the speed of thought interval will be detected as waiting time and the user s mind starts wandering to other topics, which is a process that cannot be consciously controlled. How this affects our users be they clinical or pharmacy, is increased accuracy to healthcare through technological advancement. Plattner further states ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

DNA profiling is a very powerful method used for forensic identification, and there has never been a case where two individuals have the same DNA profile. DNA is a long curved structure, made up of pairs of four specific bases: adenine, guanine, cytosine, and thymine, is the repository of a code from which all of our cells are made. The code is made up of base pairs which look like the rungs of a ladder, and are joined by alternating phosphate and sugar groups, which may be compared to the ladder s sides or legs. The bases adenine and thymine form what is known as one base pair, and the bases cytosine and guanine form the second base pair. The DNA in humans carries almost one and a half billion pairs of these bases within one strand of DNA. It is the order, or sequencing of these pairs that determines what information is available for the making and repairing of our bodies. These base pairs and groups are connected to form a ribbon like structure which curls into what is known as a double helix or spiral. The spiral form provides stability to the structure, and the sequencing pattern might be thought of as letters which combine into words that communicate the necessary information needed by the cells in order to reproduce and replenish themselves. Upon making contact with both arrestees, I observed them sweating profusely and shaking. It was obvious to me that both were nervous of police presence. It should be noted the driver will be referred to as arrestee 1 and the passenger as arrestee 2. I then asked arrestee 1 for his driver s license, registration, and proof of insurance at which point the arrestee advised, fuck you I m not giving you shit, it s not a crime to drive with no lights on. I then asked the arrestee if he had any form of id in his possession at which point he refused and advised, this is bullshit, I plead the fifth I know my rights officer. It should be noted while asking the arrestee for his information, I also asked arrestee 2 for his information. • 55. How Characteristics Of Culture Maintain Capitalist Society The purpose of this paper is to examine how characteristics of culture maintain capitalist society. I will be using Theodor Adorno and Max Horkheimer s The culture industry: enlightenment as mass deception, as the backbone of my analysis. This will be accomplished by assessing aspects of society such as: monopoly capitalism, the entertainment industry and relevance to modern day society. This paper argues that capitalism transformed cultureinto an ideological means of domination, and acts as brainwashing tool over the masses. Capitalism in The Concise Encyclopedia of Sociology is defined as: the system that provides for needs and wants, animated by a particular ethos, coordinated and organized by establishing practices, regulations, and laws, privileging particular types of knowledge. (Weber 1927, 47). Theodor Adomo and Max Horkheimer created a term known as culture industry which is the commercial commodification, and the mass production of pseudo culture by corporations (1947, p.29). The creation of the culture industry resulted in the standardisation of the cultural form, which eliminated an individual s ability to think critically. This occurred because of the greed that capitalism creates, the heads of production firms mass produce cultural goods that are aimed at people s desires to increase profitability. They argued that capitalism abandoned its liberal roots and began to monopolize industries, thus creating monopoly capitalism. In society, the culture ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many of which will respond quite differently through each event they may encounter. This is to include strong emotions and at times they will tend to feel uncertainty. However, over time people will typically overcome these life changing events and stressful situations. What helps people to combat these circumstances? According to Baumgardner and Crothers (2009), resilience is a process individuals go through to face tragedies, trauma and stress in general. What if I told you it is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Telling myself I can accomplish anything and that the horrific things I went through should not define me. Not to mention, that I can do so much more in life because I went through something so horrendous. Continuing through this hardship I started reverting to times of tragedies where all I did was make excuses for and realize there may have been a purpose for it. There may have been something that can t be explained that occurred at the right time in my life because I started to give up on myself. It dawned on me that there is more to this world that I am obligated to do something with my life. You just need a wakeup call or something to happen to you that will spark that motivation deep down. My motivation was to make sure I did not let my best friend down. I want my best friend to be proud of me. I would want him to see this Brandon. It wasn t until several months later that I realized I needed to stop talking to myself and start listening to myself because I can tell myself a lot of things I want to hear. However, there is a lot of things I should tell myself because it could take me out of low times. My dreams could take me through low places in life if I had something to focus on, a purpose, the mentality to push through these rough times. Staff Sergeant Rex was my promise. Rex was a person that I was going to be a better person for in my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
