American Red Cross Analysis
It s amazing how far United States have come along when it comes to caring for an individual that you
don t know, yet you are doing everything in your power to save someone s life. American Red Cross
was founded by Clara Barton on May 21, 1881, but before the American Red Cross came into
America it was and international movement that was founded by a young Swiss man named Henry
Dunant. To know that 40,000 men are laying dead or alive and wounded from a war that soldiers
fought for us in the civil war, yet there were no medical attempts to save lives, made Dunant organize
local people to help wounded soldiers. The locals helped with wounded soldiers by feeding, and
comforting them when in need. In October 1868 the International Red Cross Movement was created in
Geneva, Switzerland and their duty was to provide non partisan care to the wounded soldiers in time
of war. (American Red Cross pg. 12, 2011) After the civil ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Our History, 2014) Although it was founded in 1881 the United States ratified the Geneva
Convention in 1882. Barton became the first President of Red Cross, they established their first local
chapter in Dansville, NY and after that day they had their first disaster relief in Michigan by a major
forest fire. (Rosenberg, 2014) As the years pass by American Red Cross begins to grow more, and
more when it comes to helping victims during a disaster. They even started helping victims when it
came to sheltering them because their homes were damaged by hurricanes, floods or man made
disasters. Later on in the 1900 they were giving a congressional charter that mandated the organization
by translation or communicating between family s members and members of the Military or people

Abbasid Al-Rahman Research Paper
While the Abbasids seized power on the Arabian Peninsula, the Umayyad leader Abd al Rahman fled
to the Iberian Peninsula and built a magnificent kingdom. When he reached Spain, he made it Al
Andalus, also known as Muslim Spain. He gained power by uniting the factions that were already
there and defeating the ruling factions. Al Andalus became a glorious kingdom in the Muslim empire
because they had powerful leaders, a stable government, and effective tactics for expansion. The
reasons for their decline will also be mentioned in this essay. The most prominent leaders of Al
Andalus were Abd al Rahman I, Abd al Rahman II, and Abd al Rahman III. The Abbasids joined
forces with other groups opposing the Umayyads on the Arabian Peninsula, and slaughtered

“Over the years, I have come to realize that the greatest...
Over the years, I have come to realize that the greatest trap in our life is not success, popularity, or
power, but self rejection, Henry J.M Houwen once stated. In the graphic novel American Born
Chinese by Gene Luen Yang, Jin Wang and the monkey king experiences rejection as they interact
with society. In the short story Linh Lai by Rebecca Rosenblum, Linh Lai helplessly suffers rejection
as she struggles to meet her uncle and Mr. Koenburg s expectations. In the short story Tapka by David
Bezomozgis, people are rejected because of their differences. Rejection by society exists in Tapka and
Linh Lai, whereas American Born Chinese incorporates both rejections by themselves and by society.

Lastly, Mr. Koenberg tries to prevent Linh from talking to the skaters. You talk to those something
something boys who long something. Bad for business, Jinny, (9) Mr. Koenberg says to Linh, thus
making her worry of what he would think of her when she continues to talk to the skaters. Linh
struggles as her uncle Steve and Mr. Koenberg rejects her for not meeting their expectations.
The graphic novel American Born Chinese shows how being rejected by society leads to self rejection.
Firstly, the monkey king is denied entry to the dinner party because he is a monkey. When the monkey
king demands to be let into the dinner party, the guard says Look. You may be a king you may even be
a deity but you are still a monkey, (Yang 15), and then, the monkey king begins to notice and hate the
thick smell of monkey fur when he gets home. Additionally, the monkey king refuses to call himself a
monkey. Tze yo tzuh visits the monkey king one day, and he then calls the monkey king a silly little
monkey, but the monkey king doesn t accept this, and then Tze yo tzu says, I created you. I say that
you are a monkey. Therefore, you are a monkey. (69). Lastly, Jin rejects to be himself due to the fact
that he is Chinese, therefore, he cannot ask Amelia out. One night, Jin desperately wants to have a
completely different appearance, and then he dreams of the herbalist s wife, and she says, So, little
friend, you have done it. Now what would you like to become? (194),

Social Life of Coffee

Social Life of Coffee in England Research Paper
Depression, stress, workloads are outcomes from the overloading of the society. Because of the hard
time limits of the schedule, office workers constantly get tired. People repeat the same procedures
every day: get out from the bed, get ready to go to the office, drive to the office, work the whole day,
drive home, and go to sleep. Society of the end of the 20th century was looking for a method to wake
up, stay awake whole day, and keep working. This is the time when humanity chose coffee as a
magical drink that can help solve all problems with tiredness, depressions, and stress. The effects of
coffee were well known since it was found. It was medically proved that ... Show more content on

Additionally, the owners of the coffee houses were usually run by widows, a coffee women . This was
pretty contradictable because women were not allowed to stay in any coffee houses, besides specific
ladies coffee houses which they could attend to discuss the same topics as their husbands did.
However, all services there were provided by women.
Coffee houses were open for everyone and owners tried to equalize their visitors. It was unacceptable
to emphasize the person s social status. However, people were divided by their different political,
science or social views. People who wanted to get free education could join the scholar conversation.
It, also, gave the opportunity to learn something new from newspapers, pamphlets or any advertising
sheets. Many scholars presented their scientific work to be criticized by the public. According to Tom
Standage, Newton presented his principle of universal gravitation in the coffee house, where he was
challenged by Hooke and they had an agreement about it. Oon the other hand, politicians would
debate on the topic of new treaties or laws and decrease the power of the Parliament and King. Barrell
states that coffee houses became the places where official politicians organized meetings of societies
such as London Corresponding Society (LCS) or National Convention.
Coffee houses were major centers of political dissent. For example, there were puritan coffee houses

Narrative-Highway Creative Writing
At the end of every work week, I looked forward to cruising Interstate Twenty. Just me, the highway,

the stressful environment my job created. Little did I know, this particular
Friday night in November, danger lied ahead. It was an experience that I would never forget.
It was another week completed of work, and it was my turn to punch out at the time machine. I
quickly stamped my card and placed it back into the holder. Without saying goodbye to my co
workers, I did not hesitate to crank my car and speed up the main highway. As the image of the factory

After a minute of gazing forward, I noticed that the light had vanished. This puzzled me as I pulled
back into the highway.
Thirty more minutes passed and the voice spoke again. Immediately after trucks appeared stopped
directly in my line of travel. I lifted my emergency brakes and began to scream aloud.
Everything happened so quickly. Clouds of smoke filled the sky and my vehicle was turned
Horton 3 sideways. In total shock, I exited my vehicle to locate the other trucks. After a five minute
search, no vehicles were spotted in the area. What was this I exclaimed. I was frighten knowing that I
had seen something and could not find it.
Then the voice spoke again. It was clearly understandable to the ear! The words spoken were very
touching and uplifting. Do not be afraid, because I am with you was stated. The thought came to me
that it was the voice of an angel. Immediately I began to praise and shout new songs for I knew that
my encounter was genuine. That night I began a new journey. Such a one, that it would take me farther
than my favorite two hour joy ride. Presently I drive with caution and continue to tell others about this

Warner Brothers And The New Medium Of Radio
When the company ran into financial difficulties in the mid 1920s, It was Sam Warner s interest in the
new medium of radio that led directly to Warner Brothers investing in the Vitaphone. Warner Brothers
then, made the first full length all talking film, and the first all talking colour film in the 1920s.
Warner Brothers is a fully integrated, broad based entertainment company, it is a global leader in all
forms of entertainment and their related businesses across all emerging and current media and
platforms. The multicultural, broad based company is positioned at the forefront of every aspect of the
entertainment industry from feature films, television and home entertainment production and
worldwide distribution to Blu ray and DVD, animation, digital distribution, comic books, brand
licensing and product and broadcasting. This is one of the most admirable, diversified and successful
motion picture and television studios in the world. This all begin when the four brothers (Sam, Albert,
Jack L and Harry Warner) embraced their up and coming movie company on April 4, 1923. Harry, the
eldest of them all was the president of the company and ran its headquarters in New York City, Albert,
was its head of sales and distribution. Jack and Sam managed the studio in Hollywood. Before the up
and coming of the Warner Brothers, they were in the movie business way before the Vitaphone idea.

A Risk Assessment Strategy For A Chemical Suicide
Background:
Before January 2008, industrial accidents were the main cause of Hydrogen Sulfide poisonings in
Japan. Since then, the use of this gas in chemical or detergent suicides increased exponentially, over
2,000 such suicides have been reported in Japan. This trend was next encountered by first responders
in America, with 3 cases reported in 2008, 9 in 2009 and over 30 incidents in 2010 (Morii et al.,
2010).
The new trend was shared via internet message boards. Dependant of the mixture of common
household ingredients such as bath salts and toilet detergent, either Hydrogen Sulfide or Hydrogen
Cyanide gas will be produced. Suicide is often performed in a confined space in order to trap the
resulting gas. Enclosed spaces such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Fire Department s response on scene was guided by the ERG (2016). Throughout the incident, an
isolation distance of 330ft was maintained around the vehicle. It was a small scale incident with no
spillage, the chemicals were confined to the vehicle. No exposure hazard was identified to
occupancies downwind of the incident.
Upon arrival, Fire Crews liaised with Police Units, ensuring they were outside the 330ft cordon.
Liaison determined the risks posed by the vehicle and its contents and established any additional
safety concerns.
Who was at Risk?
Members of the public: Due to the time the incident occurred, no one had encountered the vehicle.
The first responder: The Police Officer was evaluated by the Fire Department s medical unit. He had
maintained a safe distance from the vehicle and subsequently not been exposed to lethal
concentrations of the gas. By making careful observations, he observed the pungent odour, the written
warnings and the individual slumped driver s seat. By requesting the Fire Department, he recognised
the risks posed to himself and the public, if he opened one of the vehicle doors he would have been
instantly overcome by the gas,

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Virus Spreading
The main aim of this research is to analyze different approaches to the problem of virus spreading and
propose new methods which are based on the comprehensive analysis of previous solutions. This
paper outlines pros and cons of three models such as susceptible infected susceptible (SIS),
susceptible infected removed (SIR) and susceptible inflected removed antidotal (SIRA). From this
survey we could make a conclusion that all existing models mentioned above are appropriate for
computer network protection from the virus spreading problem. However, all these approaches have a
number of disadvantages. So, in terms of lack of safety in computers protection from virus spreading
new solutions should be found.
Introduction
Background. In my final graduation work, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In previous works researchers have frequently used epidemiological models for modeling the
dynamics of computer virus spreading. Nowadays there are two main mathematical approaches, as
described in [3]. The first one is deterministic model which is based on differential equations and is
suited for large networks, for instance, global Internet network. Another approach is stochastic model
that employ Markov chains and diffusion processes. This method suits better small local computer
networks and in my work I will focused mainly on this approach. In words, Markov chain is the
sequence of random events with a finite or countable number of outcomes, characterized by the
property that, for a fixed present the future does not depend on the past. So, from the theoretical side,
this approach will be the most suitable and urgent for modeling this kind of system, because all time
moments between different conditions of the system would be distributed with Poison distribution.
That is why in my work I decided to use stochastic model approach based on Markov

Boots Vs. Boot s Atomic Model Essay
The online business that I chose to do is Boots. Boot s atomic model is direct to the consumer (B2C
Model). Boots is a pharmacy chain in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Boots is the U.K. s leading
health and beauty retailer. Ninety percent of the U.K. s 60 million population visits a Boots store at
least once a year. The company has an annual turnover of around 3 billion Sterling pounds. Boots first
began planning a loyalty card in November 1993, but what they built is much more than a loyalty
card; it is a very full CRM program. Boots invested an excess of 30 million Sterling pounds for the
loyalty card. Boot s Advantage Card is the largest smart card retail loyalty card scheme in the world.
The Advantage scheme currently has 12.3 million cardholders, and more than 40% of transactions in
store are now linked to the card. Prior to the national launch, Boots ran two trials in two cities. The
trials provided Boots with invaluable information and allowed them to fine tune the program to
maximise its financial contribution to the business before the decision was made to roll it out
nationally. By analysing the information provided through the Advantage Card, Boots gained
meaningful information into its customers shopping behaviour. It found that Advantage cardholders
shop more frequently than non cardholders, and on average spend 50% more than non cardholders.
The target market for the Advantage Card is females (83% of Boots customers are female) aged 20 45.

Analysis Of Dundee Fc And Dundee s Impact On Implications...
Dissertation Rationale
Why this particular Project?
The topic I have chosen for my dissertation is Dundee Fc and Dundee Hibernian The Impact and
implications of World war one.
I intend to look at the Primary impact of the war if there were men that fought and look at if they were
impacted by specific events during the war. Looking at similarities of between other football clubs
such as the Hearts of Midlothian or McCrays battalion . I have chosen this topic because it is a subject
that I have a major interest in. Also it is a topic that I feel is relatively untouched. I believe that as a
fourth year student in History I now need to contribute to my field. This topic is also i feel important
to me as i am from Dundee and also support Dundee FC. Furthermore I feel that football is a
important as it could be used as a propaganda tool during the war (Football grounds were seen as a
good place to get men to enlist.) By looking at the effects on two specific clubs and the effect on the
city I am hoping this topic will tie in with previous work I have done concerning the jute industry in
Dundee during the Great War and how it helped aid it s decline.
Definition of Objectives My objectives for this dissertation are to contribute to my field by improving
the knowledge and awareness of the history of Dundee FC and Dundee Hibernian focused on the First
World War. By looking at the direct effects of the conflict for example, men who fought for their
country and if they were

Pursuing Doctoral Studies For Academic Excellence Essay
I am mostly interested in pursuing doctoral studies to achieve my ultimate goal to become a prolific
researcher as well as an inspiring, knowledgeable university level teacher. Consequently, in the short
term, my goal is to gain knowledge and skills related to research and teaching especially during my
PhD program. Additionally, in the long run, I will spend most of my time practicing the knowledge
and skills that I will have already acquired by teaching classes and seminars, doing research projects,
as well as writing qualified academic articles and books. I will dedicate most of the time that I have
after gaining a Doctorate degree in Business to the advancement of the academic excellence.
In the meantime, I realize that at the moment my business knowledge is predominantly empirical
gained mostly from my background experience both professional and academic (MBA). It is wide in
nature as it covers many aspects of business practices. Yet, I miss the depth of the business knowledge.
Therefore, my understanding on a more theoretical background of business and economic phenomena
is limited. Pursuing a doctoral study would undoubtedly be necessary for me to enhance my
understanding, particularly in terms of theory and concept. It is not only in terms of my
comprehension of the subjects per se but also in terms of skills necessary in theory building and
research capability. Those are, I deem, very critical elements in academic excellence. Moreover, I
believe, all of these are

The Driving Of Car Cars
It s all fun and games till someone gets hurt, is something I have heard constantly ever since my hot

cars. As I got older, I constantly am modifying and making sure my car is always clean as glass. I
enjoy being around cars, there is always the jeopardies of being a car enthusiast are always being
annoyingly cautious of cars, having constant money issues, and also getting into trouble.
First, one problem that is facing most car guys is that they are on top of the actions that happen near
their car. Car guys are constantly cleaning their car. When passing by one there is a tendency of seeing
them hold on to a microfiber towel and detailer spray to keep their cars clean. In my case, you will
never seem without my Chemical Guy quick detailer in my hand, making sure my car shines as bright
as it can possibly. Next, car guys always tend to park ridiculously. They will always take up more than
one space just so that no one ever mess up their paint jobs. Even when parking on a sidewalk, they try
to stay away from the curb so they don t scratch the rims that they have. I have an issue with my car
being too low and always either scraping the bottom of my car or even my rims. Finally, they always
have a trend of giving people dirty looks. When they see someone or to get something close to their
car they start to have a mini heart attack and rush as fast as they can to make sure the

This act modified the methods for many different subjects, such as financial and non financial
reporting, company communications with shareholders, and the responsibilities of company heads.
The main role of the Act is to get managers to act in the best interests of shareholders. It additionally
requires managers to think about the long term effects of decisions; the welfares of the business s
staff; the business s connections alongside suppliers, clients, and others; and the impression of the
company s procedures on the surrounding area. The Company Law Review Group was established by
the government in 1998 in order to contemplate ways to modernize company law. The Company Law
Review guidelines were the starting point for the modifications suggested by the Company Law
Reform White Paper released in 2005. Then the White Paper proposals turned into an outline for a

Some of the main effects of the Companies Act on private companies are: an individual and simplified

about share capital, (companieshouse.gov.uk, 2014). The key benefits of the Companies Act for

Essay on Marijuana
Marijuana
Marijuana is a drug that has been used for thousands of years. Marijuana was used in ancient China, as
far back as 5000 B.C. The Incan s and Mayan s used marijuana in religious ceremonies. Marijuana
also has roots in this country. The Indians of the plains used marijuana in their peace pipes as a sign of
friendship and peace. After prohibition there was a sharp rise in the use of this drug in America, but
after prohibition was repealed the use went down. In the 1920 s and 30 s the use of marijuana was
primarily by the minorities. In the 1930 s it was common belief that minorities where inhumane and
violent, and people believed that marijuana was part of the cause. Then in 1937 marijuana was

Marijuana has a positive effect on patients with certain diseases. AIDS victims are sometimes
prescribed marijuana to help increase their appetite. Victims of AIDS do not want to eat and thus they
do not get the nutrients they need. Marijuana helps them to eat, and thus enabling them to get the
nutrients they need. Marijuana also helps to increase the appetite in cancer patients. People who get
glaucoma s also use marijuana. It helps to ease the pain for many glaucoma patients. Marijuana is very
helpful to these people. This is just one example of why marijuana prohibition should be reconsidered.
When comparing tobacco, alcohol, and marijuana, there is evidence that marijuana has the least
addictive power. During the Nixon administration, the government concluded that marijuana did not
posses any physically addictive traits. The University of California did a study on the power of heroin,
cocaine, nicotine, alcohol, caffeine, and marijuana in terms of power to induce psychological
dependence. Nicotine was first, marijuana last. Marijuana was deemed least likely to produce signs of
withdrawal upon quitting, and last in terms of producing a physical tolerance to the drug. Marijuana is
less addictive than two legal drugs in this country. This does not make sense, and so prohibition
should be reconsidered. The United States government spends too much money each year on
prohibition of marijuana. The

Example Of Personal Narrative Essay For College
For years I had been hiking the same dull, barren trail. There was nothing to see besides the empty,
looming trees on either side of the path and nothing to hear besides the constant crunch of dead leaves
underfoot. Day after day, I marched aimlessly; however, I soon stumbled upon a divergent road. The
contrast was astonishing. Where my current pathway was monotonous, the other was alive. Its trees
were blazing with vibrant auburns and golds, and some of their leaves danced in the wind. Patches of
daisies and dandelions peaked out from underneath piles of fallen leaves. I was entranced by the warm
kiss of the sun, the rich smell of flowers, and the chatter of woodland creatures. It held a secret: the
wondrous beauty of life. Although I was not sure what this trail would hold for me later on, I was
eager to embark on this new journey. I started by letting go of the forces that weighed me down. With
every burden I shed, the colors seemed to grow impossibly brighter. Finally, I was happily strolling

Science-Fiction Films During The 1950 s
The science fiction film genre serves as an excellent medium for examining shifting power structures,
social paranoia and Cold War politics during the 1950s. A number of films released during this period,
including: Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956), The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951), Them (1954)
and Attack of the 50ft Woman (1958), are particularly symptomatic of the social and political
atmosphere of the time. These films navigate not only narrative based issues such as the threat of
aliens and science experiments gone wrong; but also wider issues of the time, such as the Cold War,
changes in the US film industry, urbanisation, politics, the growing power of women and most
significantly, social concern about nuclear energy.
Before analysing individual science fiction films from the 1950s, it is important to gain a clear
understanding of the social, cultural and political background against which these films were set.
Paranoia is a term frequently used to describe an acute, anxiety dominated medical condition
(Paranoia, 2009), however in the context of 1950 s America, this term can be used more accurately to
describe the general, delusionary mood of the nation. The first important event that influenced a
paranoiac filmmaking atmosphere was the Cold War. As opposed to the hot war (WWII) that involved
active military hostilities, the Cold War was based on heightened tension and suspicions between
Western Bloc (USA) powers and Eastern Bloc (Soviet Union) powers (The

Betrayal and Deception in The Great Gatsby by F. Scott...
Betrayal, a deception of a presumption which then produces conflict between a relationship. Friends
and family members have the power to betray us any second. We view them as an extension of
ourselves; someone we can confide in. Your notion about them could be completely false for the
betrayal they are capable of. Betrayal could be hidden in the shadows of a relationship between you
and a friend, a special bond, or even a family member. Betrayal could be found within a nonfictional
or fictional novel, play, poem, movie and even picture.
The Great Gatsby is a novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald in 1925. In his novel, he displays a lot of
symbols, and themes including wealth, greed, and of course, betrayal. Betrayal can upset many people
and ruin many people. Betrayal was demonstrated throughout the entire novel with a lot of
connections. Three situations I had talked about were Gatsby betrayed by Daisy, Tom cheating on
Daisy with Myrtle and when no one attends Gatsby s funeral. The first relationship explained is Tom
and Daisy Buchanan. Tom is a very powerful domineering man, very self centered and self absorbed,
while Daisy is a beautiful lady, with a rousing voice, but also very self centered as well. Tom and
Daisy s relationship had undergoing stress. Daisy knows how to push all of Tom s buttons and how
hard to push them. Daisy tells Nick how cynical she is about everything, she shows her views in the

Walden Location Essay
In Thoreau s novel, Walden, the reader is introduced to Thoreau s world and how it is greatly impacted
by location. Thoreau begins his project by moving away from civilization and searching for a place to
live. He finds his temporary home at Walden Pond, where he starts with few resources and little
outside inputs. Thoreau even has to borrow the axe that he uses to cut down trees to make his home
for the next two years. Thoreau asserts that his experiment, moving to Walden Pond, is not permanent.
Walden Pond is, however, the foundation precept of how location impacts one s way of life. The place
one live shapes the way one live and how one interact with the world around oneself.
Before Thoreau makes the bold decision of living in seclusion, he lives in a community. Thoreau
decides to move away from civilization so that he can find himself. He believes that he ... Show more

He sees the parts of nature around him as actual beings that have feelings. Though personifying nature
may seem strange, doing so is what prevents Thoreau from becoming lonely. Thoreau even goes as far
as to write, I am no more lonely than a single mullein or dandelion in a pasture, or a bean leaf, or
sorrel, or a horse fly, or a bumble bee (pg #). Thoreau is content with the place he lives and becomes
one with the nature that surrounds him.
Thoreau makes use of the land and nature around him at Walden Pond. He plants two and a half acres
of beans that he farms. This shows that Thoreau is adaptive and learns to work with nature. The rain
that comes and goes helps his crops grow. Thoreau relies on the place he lives to sustain himself. He
trades his beans with others for food, and makes a profit off of the land on which he lives. The place
that he inhabits becomes his main concern and priority. This helps readers to understand why the place
one lives and treats as one s home has such an effect on one s way of

Fetal Pig Dissection Lab Report
To continue, I then began to examine the endocrine system of the fetal pig. I began this dissection by
finding the endocrine organs that are located in the area of throat. These organs were the thyroid and
thymus. The thyroid s responsibility is to produce amino acids that will help to regulate metabolism.
The shape of the thyroid is oval like, and has a dark brown tint. The second endocrine organ found in
the throat is the thymus. The thymus functions to provide immunity against diseases. It has a pink
appearance, and is long in length. I was successful in finding three endocrine organs in the abdominal
cavity. The first organ found was the adrenal gland. The function of this gland is to produce various
hormones. This gland is identifiable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This complex organ can be found in upper right side of the abdomen. It is unique because it is a dual
functioning organ. The first function is to control the body s blood sugar level. The second function is
to secrete insulin and glucagon. Lastly, I studied the testes of the fetal pig, which I found at the end of
the scrotum under the skin. The teste are a key part in the process of secreting testosterone. After
completing this section I began to dissect the last system of the pig. The final system of the body I
examined was the digestive system. This is known to be one of the most interesting areas of the body
because of the many functions the system is responsible for. This system is also home to several major
organs. One major organ is the salivary gland. This gland is in the lower part of the face, as well as the
side of the face under the ear along the jaw line. The key function is the gland s ability to produce
saliva. These glands are light pink, and have a few possible shapes and sizes. Following the gland, I
began to take a look at the pharynx. This organ can be found posterior to the larynx, and near the nasal
and oral cavities. The pharynx is responsible for assisting with the passage of food. It is a muscle like
tube with the same

The Effects Of Legalization Of Drugs On The Economy
The legalization of drugs is a very controversial social topic for discussion, one that has taken the
media by storm over the last couple of years. Everyone has opinion on this topic and they range from
very pro to very anti. As legalization slowly becomes a reality and is seen around the world, questions
begin to emerge of the effects that this legalization will have on crime, society, and the economy. With
the emergence of the legalization of drugs there have been positive and negative effects happening
nationally and globally, as this trend continues it will be sure to change and shape society in many
different ways.
In the past two years we have seen national changes with the implementation of legalized marijuana
for non medical use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marijuana that is sold for non medical use requires a regular sales tax, additional state and excise
taxes, and possibly an additional local tax (Durkin, 2014). In Colorado, they raked in over $11.3
million in tax revenue from the sales of marijuana in the first 4 months of legalization (Durkin, 2014).
The state will have huge benefits from the tax revenue collected and once they have reached $40
million they have plans to use the money for public school construction (Durkin, 2014). With the
legalization of marijuana in Colorado and attempting to meet the demand, new business ventures have
emerged leading to more jobs (Durkin, 2014). Legalization would require some costs to regulate
however, the cost currently to regulate tobacco and alcohol are far less than what is being spent to
enforce the control on illegal drugs (Caulkins et al., 2014). Marijuana accounts for a large part of drug
arrests and a large amount of money goes toward those arrests leading legalization to have a
significant savings (Caulkins et al., 2014). Illicit drug market brings in a staggering $500 billion a
year, one of the top five largest industries worldwide (Jenner,

Sweatshops Essay
Sweatshops over the world can be improved through simple and big changes on both the foreign as
well as American fronts. Sweatshops have always been viewed as a negative thing but no one has
really tried to change or improve upon them, it is more of an out of sight out of mind mentality. In the
book Where am I Wearing, the author Kelsey Timmerman said ... is that we should try to be engaged
consumers... ( Timmerman 9 ). Society knows it is happening so why not find ways to improve these
sweatshops instead of just ignoring the issues at hand. We live in a turbulent, imbalanced world. It can
be depressing to think about ( Timmerman 41) By having Labor Unions that are there for the people

Labor Unions could help to enforce labor laws to improve the factories and the conditions within (
Arnold ). These unions could make up for lack of government enforcement within the areas of that the
labor unions ( Arnold ). Also it does not cost a thing to make sure that people are following the rules to
the best of their ability ( Arnold ). Labor unions are beginning to be created to help with these issues
of the factory workers such as their rights and how to educate people of these rights.
As stated before labor unions are a way to improve working conditions but there are others as well.
Sweatshops can make simple improvements by using scraps around the factory to make simple
improvements ( Arnold ). Making improvements can be done in a very simple and low cost ways
especially depending on the size of the company ( Arnold ). In a NIKE sweatshop a worker wanted to
use the rubber waste as a cushion for iron molds so they would not slam against the furnace to
hopefully eliminate noise in the work area, they would not allow the worker to do this (Arnold).
Making conditions better will cause a reduction in the amount of deaths, injuries, and illnesses that
occur from the poor regulation of working conditions in these factories.
Still explaining different ways to improve upon sweatshops as well as the workers lives, improving
wages is a way to achieve this. This is simple as it is a moral obligation for the employer to provide
decent wages for

Animal Observation
Over the summer, I went to an amusement park with my family. This park is not only known for its
rides and roller coasters, but also for the animal attractions. After a long day of riding roller coasters,
we decided to go see the dolphin show. As we made our way to see the dolphin show, we passed by
different animal attractions. The penguins that I once thought were adorable and lively, looked
miserable, as they waddled in a dense space. Then I passed by a tank with two dolphins, I noticed that
their skin, which was suppose to be delicate and rubbery, looked rough and damaged. Prior to this
visit, I had been to the parks many times, but never had I felt the way I did that day. .
We arrived at the stadium and I took a seat. There were hundreds

Indian Wedding Essay
The Indian Wedding Diary
A wedding is a lot more than just an occasion. It is that special day when two souls in love, vow to
protect and be with each other forever. In most cultures of the world, weddings are a closed family
affair and just a one day celebration, at the most, however, an Indian wedding is way beyond that.
Have you ever been to an Indian wedding before? If you haven t, then you for sure are missing out on
something spectacular. An Indian wedding is much more than just the bride and the groom getting
married; it is a celebration of two families becoming one and is definitely not a closed family affair.
Desi weddings are a gala galore
An Indian wedding, or a Desi wedding, is a joyous and lavish celebration with exuberant crowds,
participating in numerous ceremonies for almost a week. But the flip side of this extravaganza is that
months of preparation the two families deal with and the fact that these weddings are an expensive
affair, often turns this celebration into a stressful process for them, as they have to take care of every
minute detail for it to be picture perfect. After all, who wouldn t wish to have a wedding that is perfect
in every sense, not only for the bride and the groom, but for all the guests that put in special efforts to
join for this larger than life celebration of yours.

L Oréal Paris has used a numerous amount of codes and conventions to meet their ideal target
audience according to their brand. This can be shown in an mascara add. It used numerous techniques
such as images, layout use and AIDA (Attention, Interest, Desire and Action). This was used to make
their brand that s being advertised wanted, desired and to look appealing. They have carefully
analysed and used these techniques to convince their audience young girls, adults that this is a
promising product that lives up to its standards.
First Was imagery used in this advertisement such as having Eva Longoria a well known famous actor

more and to make the audience feel like since she has it, says it great I should go buy it myself. Visual

Summary Of The Pact By PicoultThe Pact
Emily Gold was the typical 17 year old teenager who has always lived with her parents, Melaine and
Micheal, next door to Chris Harte, the perfect son and student athlete to James and Gus Harte.
Through this close proximity they became best friends. Emily and Chris started to date, which made
the parents happy, since they wanted nothing more than for the pair to end up together. Emily was a
striving art student with the ability to get into elite colleges due to years of hard studying. Because of
all of the people in her life that expected various sides of her, Emily had this idea that she must be the
perfect girlfriend, student, and daughter. With the suffocating reality setting in, she realized that it was
more than she could possibly handle, and so she resorts to killing herself. To Emily, this was the only
option on how to escape from the overwhelming position she was trapped in. In her novel, The Pact,
Picoult uses the theme of expectations to demonstrate the drowning, catastrophic effects it can have on
one s life by forcefully causing a person to create an image of themselves that they can never become.
Emily and Chris grew up side by side their whole lives. Their parents always talked about the pair
getting married or being together in some way. It was simply a joke when the children were little but
after the two started to date, the possibility become reality. However, this is a reality Emily was not
sure she wanted. In the novel, the parents are shown making

Legalization Of Marijuana Tourism In The United States

The legalization of marijuana has been a contentious topic in the US for a long. There are different
views concerning the effects of legalizing marijuana, with the common consensus that legalization of
marijuana will have significant consequences in the world and everyday lives (Chepesiuk 99).
Currently, the US drug policy forces stern measures regarding the consumption and possession of
marijuana. In the light of this view, it is important to evaluate the dangers and beneficial effects
associated with the legalization of marijuana. Overall, the practical effects of legalizing marijuana

Since legalization, more people have been visiting Colorado than ever before (Legality of Marijuana
in the United States in 2015). The travel site Hopper.com reported that flight searches for Denver
surged around the time that recreational sales began in January . Denver International Airport saw
record numbers of incoming passengers in January and in April, a month that included the first 4/20
holiday since pot stores opened . Although it s not clear how much marijuana has to do with Colorado
s increased popularity as a tourist destination, dispensaries regularly see tourists who are drawn by the
novelty of buying pot from friendly and knowledgeable salespeople in clean, well lit stores (Legality
of Marijuana in the United States in 2015) instead of getting it off the street on the down low from
some dude you barely know. We ve had people book vacations that have never been to Colorado
before, and the single reason is because of the freedom that we have here, says Kent McBride, a
Denver area limo driver. Others are coming back specifically because they can buy cannabis (Legality

Iran s Military Purpose Of The International Atomic Energy...
Introduction Since its founding, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has sought to
promote the peaceful use of nuclear energy and inhibit its use for any military purpose (i.e. nuclear
nonproliferation). The latter goal of the agency has been the most challenging as the number of states
friendly and hostile with access to nuclear materials continues to rise. Despite various challenges and
criticisms from some the international community regarding its true authority, the agency has largely
succeeded in its mission, especially in recent decades. This paper will compare the role of the IAEA at
the start of Iran s nuclear program to its role in the most recent Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action
(JCPOA). This paper will also address ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The organization seeks to carry out its mandate through its safeguard system of inspections, visits, and
ongoing monitoring and evaluation of nuclear power plants (see Appendix 1). All of these activities
are embedded in legally binding agreements and provide independent, international verification that
governments are abiding by their commitments to the peaceful use of nuclear technology ( IAEA ).
Per the statute of the IAEA, non compliance with the agreements will be reported to the United
Nations S.C. and General Assembly. Furthermore, most of the Safeguards Agreements are with non
nuclear weapon states who are party to the Treaty on the Non Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons
(NPT), created in 1968 and signed by 191 parties.
Recently, the IAEA has been extensively involved in three states including Iran, the focus of this
paper. To understand why the Iran s nuclear program became worrisome for the IAEA, a brief history
and overview of the state s nuclear program is necessary.
Iran s Nuclear Program
Iran s nuclear program began in 1957 with the announcement of an agreement for cooperation with
and technical assistance under the Atoms for Peace program following Eisenhower s speech. In 1959,
Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi sought the establishment of the Tehran Nuclear Research Center
(TRNC) at Tehran University. Later, the U.S. supplied the TNRC with a small 5MWt

Giuseppe Verdi s Cultural Beliefs
When Giuseppe Verdi died on 27 January 1901, Italy wept as one. Almost two hundred fifty thousand
people took to the streets to pay their respects to Giuseppe Verdi. They were marching to the Va,
Pensiero from Nabucco, sung by a chorus of over 820 voices, led by maestro Arturo Toscani.
Considering his cultural status in Italy and Europe at the time of his death, the funeral was attended by
dignitaries from all over Europe. Verdi was a man of determined anti clerical spirit; he was a liberal
and a romantic. He was a proud and patriotic man; however, his musical intentions seem to differ from
the contrived tales and political persuasions of the supporters of the Risorgimento. Verdi was not
preoccupied by historical methodology or by making overarching

  • 2. American Red Cross Analysis It s amazing how far United States have come along when it comes to caring for an individual that you don t know, yet you are doing everything in your power to save someone s life. American Red Cross was founded by Clara Barton on May 21, 1881, but before the American Red Cross came into America it was and international movement that was founded by a young Swiss man named Henry Dunant. To know that 40,000 men are laying dead or alive and wounded from a war that soldiers fought for us in the civil war, yet there were no medical attempts to save lives, made Dunant organize local people to help wounded soldiers. The locals helped with wounded soldiers by feeding, and comforting them when in need. In October 1868 the International Red Cross Movement was created in Geneva, Switzerland and their duty was to provide non partisan care to the wounded soldiers in time of war. (Rosenberg, 2014) As the years pass by American Red Cross begins to grow more, and more when it comes to helping victims during a disaster. They even started helping victims when it came to sheltering them because their homes were damaged by hurricanes, floods or man made disasters. Later on in the 1900 they were giving a congressional charter that mandated the organization by translation or communicating between family s members and members of the Military or people affected by a disaster.( Rosenberg, 2014) They played a big part in World War II, which lead to the blood collection service in 1948 and CPR classes for the ... When he reached Spain, he made it Al Andalus, also known as Muslim Spain. He gained power by uniting the factions that were already there and defeating the ruling factions. Al Andalus became a glorious kingdom in the Muslim empire because they had powerful leaders, a stable government, and effective tactics for expansion. The reasons for their decline will also be mentioned in this essay. The most prominent leaders of Al Andalus were Abd al Rahman I, Abd al Rahman II, and Abd al Rahman III. Over the years, I have come to realize that the greatest trap in our life is not success, popularity, or power, but self rejection, Henry J.M Houwen once stated. In the graphic novel American Born Chinese by Gene Luen Yang, Jin Wang and the monkey king experiences rejection as they interact with society. In the short story Linh Lai by Rebecca Rosenblum, Linh Lai helplessly suffers rejection as she struggles to meet her uncle and Mr. Koenburg s expectations. In the short story Tapka by David Bezomozgis, people are rejected because of their differences. Rejection by society exists in Tapka and Linh Lai, whereas American Born Chinese incorporates both rejections by themselves and by society. Stories show that people are rejected by society, ... Bad for business, Jinny, (9) Mr. Koenberg says to Linh, thus making her worry of what he would think of her when she continues to talk to the skaters. Linh struggles as her uncle Steve and Mr. Koenberg rejects her for not meeting their expectations. The graphic novel American Born Chinese shows how being rejected by society leads to self rejection. Firstly, the monkey king is denied entry to the dinner party because he is a monkey. When the monkey king demands to be let into the dinner party, the guard says Look. You may be a king you may even be a deity but you are still a monkey, (Yang 15), and then, the monkey king begins to notice and hate the thick smell of monkey fur when he gets home. Additionally, the monkey king refuses to call himself a monkey. Tze yo tzuh visits the monkey king one day, and he then calls the monkey king a silly little monkey, but the monkey king doesn t accept this, and then Tze yo tzu says, I created you. I say that you are a monkey. Therefore, you are a monkey. (69). Lastly, Jin rejects to be himself due to the fact that he is Chinese, therefore, he cannot ask Amelia out. This trend was next encountered by first responders in America, with 3 cases reported in 2008, 9 in 2009 and over 30 incidents in 2010 (Morii et al., 2010). The new trend was shared via internet message boards. • 11. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Virus Spreading The main aim of this research is to analyze different approaches to the problem of virus spreading and propose new methods which are based on the comprehensive analysis of previous solutions. This paper outlines pros and cons of three models such as susceptible infected susceptible (SIS), susceptible infected removed (SIR) and susceptible inflected removed antidotal (SIRA). From this survey we could make a conclusion that all existing models mentioned above are appropriate for computer network protection from the virus spreading problem. However, all these approaches have a number of disadvantages. So, in terms of lack of safety in computers protection from virus spreading new solutions should be found. Introduction Background. In my final graduation work, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In previous works researchers have frequently used epidemiological models for modeling the dynamics of computer virus spreading. Nowadays there are two main mathematical approaches, as described in [3]. The first one is deterministic model which is based on differential equations and is suited for large networks, for instance, global Internet network. Another approach is stochastic model that employ Markov chains and diffusion processes. This method suits better small local computer networks and in my work I will focused mainly on this approach. In words, Markov chain is the sequence of random events with a finite or countable number of outcomes, characterized by the property that, for a fixed present the future does not depend on the past. So, from the theoretical side, this approach will be the most suitable and urgent for modeling this kind of system, because all time moments between different conditions of the system would be distributed with Poison distribution. That is why in my work I decided to use stochastic model approach based on Markov ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ninety percent of the U.K. s 60 million population visits a Boots store at least once a year. The company has an annual turnover of around 3 billion Sterling pounds. Boots first began planning a loyalty card in November 1993, but what they built is much more than a loyalty card; it is a very full CRM program. Boots invested an excess of 30 million Sterling pounds for the loyalty card. Boot s Advantage Card is the largest smart card retail loyalty card scheme in the world. The Advantage scheme currently has 12.3 million cardholders, and more than 40% of transactions in store are now linked to the card. Prior to the national launch, Boots ran two trials in two cities. The trials provided Boots with invaluable information and allowed them to fine tune the program to maximise its financial contribution to the business before the decision was made to roll it out nationally. By analysing the information provided through the Advantage Card, Boots gained meaningful information into its customers shopping behaviour. It found that Advantage cardholders shop more frequently than non cardholders, and on average spend 50% more than non cardholders. Pursuing Doctoral Studies For Academic Excellence Essay I am mostly interested in pursuing doctoral studies to achieve my ultimate goal to become a prolific researcher as well as an inspiring, knowledgeable university level teacher. Consequently, in the short term, my goal is to gain knowledge and skills related to research and teaching especially during my PhD program. Additionally, in the long run, I will spend most of my time practicing the knowledge and skills that I will have already acquired by teaching classes and seminars, doing research projects, as well as writing qualified academic articles and books. I will dedicate most of the time that I have after gaining a Doctorate degree in Business to the advancement of the academic excellence. In the meantime, I realize that at the moment my business knowledge is predominantly empirical gained mostly from my background experience both professional and academic (MBA). It is wide in nature as it covers many aspects of business practices. Yet, I miss the depth of the business knowledge. Therefore, my understanding on a more theoretical background of business and economic phenomena is limited. Pursuing a doctoral study would undoubtedly be necessary for me to enhance my understanding, particularly in terms of theory and concept. It is not only in terms of my comprehension of the subjects per se but also in terms of skills necessary in theory building and research capability. Those are, I deem, very critical elements in academic excellence. Moreover, I believe, all of these are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There was nothing to see besides the empty, looming trees on either side of the path and nothing to hear besides the constant crunch of dead leaves underfoot. Its trees were blazing with vibrant auburns and golds, and some of their leaves danced in the wind. Patches of daisies and dandelions peaked out from underneath piles of fallen leaves. I was entranced by the warm kiss of the sun, the rich smell of flowers, and the chatter of woodland creatures. It held a secret: the wondrous beauty of life. Although I was not sure what this trail would hold for me later on, I was eager to embark on this new journey. I started by letting go of the forces that weighed me down. • 21. Science-Fiction Films During The 1950 s The science fiction film genre serves as an excellent medium for examining shifting power structures, social paranoia and Cold War politics during the 1950s. A number of films released during this period, including: Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956), The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951), Them (1954) and Attack of the 50ft Woman (1958), are particularly symptomatic of the social and political atmosphere of the time. These films navigate not only narrative based issues such as the threat of aliens and science experiments gone wrong; but also wider issues of the time, such as the Cold War, changes in the US film industry, urbanisation, politics, the growing power of women and most significantly, social concern about nuclear energy. Before analysing individual science fiction films from the 1950s, it is important to gain a clear understanding of the social, cultural and political background against which these films were set. Paranoia is a term frequently used to describe an acute, anxiety dominated medical condition (Paranoia, 2009), however in the context of 1950 s America, this term can be used more accurately to describe the general, delusionary mood of the nation. The first important event that influenced a paranoiac filmmaking atmosphere was the Cold War. As opposed to the hot war (WWII) that involved active military hostilities, the Cold War was based on heightened tension and suspicions between Western Bloc (USA) powers and Eastern Bloc (Soviet Union) powers (The ... Friends and family members have the power to betray us any second. We view them as an extension of ourselves; someone we can confide in. Your notion about them could be completely false for the betrayal they are capable of. Betrayal could be hidden in the shadows of a relationship between you and a friend, a special bond, or even a family member. Betrayal could be found within a nonfictional or fictional novel, play, poem, movie and even picture. The Great Gatsby is a novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald in 1925. In his novel, he displays a lot of symbols, and themes including wealth, greed, and of course, betrayal. Betrayal can upset many people and ruin many people. Betrayal was demonstrated throughout the entire novel with a lot of connections. Three situations I had talked about were Gatsby betrayed by Daisy, Tom cheating on Daisy with Myrtle and when no one attends Gatsby s funeral. The first relationship explained is Tom and Daisy Buchanan. Tom is a very powerful domineering man, very self centered and self absorbed, while Daisy is a beautiful lady, with a rousing voice, but also very self centered as well. Thoreau even has to borrow the axe that he uses to cut down trees to make his home for the next two years. Thoreau asserts that his experiment, moving to Walden Pond, is not permanent. Walden Pond is, however, the foundation precept of how location impacts one s way of life. The place one live shapes the way one live and how one interact with the world around oneself.
