Ferdinand Magellan s Voyage Round The World Analysis
An analysis of Ferdinand Magellan s Voyage Round the World, 1519 1522 CE First of all,
Ferdinand Magellan or Fernando de Magelhaes (as referred in the primary source) is a
Portuguese explorer and navigator. He was born in a noble Portuguese family in 1480 and he
spent his time serving the queen of Portugal since he was a young boy (Szalay, 2014). Magellan
had participated in many of Portugal expeditions. He enrolled in the fleet of the Portuguese
expeditions in 1505 and involved in many journeys includes the journey to India, Africa and
even Malacca in Malaysia in 1511(BBC, 2014). According to Ducksters (2005), he had traveled
to India by sailing around Africa. Later on, Magellan came up with an idea to travel around
Americans. Magellan s idea was to sail westwards from Seville in Spain, through South America to
get to Maluco or so... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He presented his plan of his expedition to the King of Portugal, but it got rejected; and so he went
to King Charles I of Spain to fund his project with the promise that his expedition will establish a
new trade route which will surely bring further wealth to the country of Spain (FernГЈo de
MagalhГЈes, n.d.). His proposed seem to be possible because the Spice Islands are rich in spices
such as nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, and black pepper. Those spices were extremely valuable
during Magellan s day in 16th century because it could not be grown in Europe in which the
areas are cold and dry place (Ferdinand Magellan, 2015). Most importantly, since no one has
discovered a way to go westward to reach the Spice Islands, then it s normal for Magellan to
intend to be the first one. In this analysis of a primary source called Ferdinand Magellan s Voyage
Round the World, 1519 1522 CE , I will explain about the author of the source, why he wrote the

Summary
The grievance procedure for current employees at Indiana State University applies to full time with
benefits (37.5/40 hours per week) or regular part time with benefits (20 or more hours per week).
The policy doesn t apply to staff members that are in the introductory period of there employment
and any sexual harassment and other discriminations such as race, sex, age, national origin, sexual
orientation, religion, disability, or veteran status. The first step is mediationand it is the employee s
obligation to make an appointment to talk to the employee s immediate supervisor within two
weeks of the confrontation. The steps taken when meeting with the supervisor is: 1. State the issue
in an accurate written statement. 2. Have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then Vice President will review the issue with supervisory levels. The Vice President will have a
response within ten working days. The Human Resources will then hand deliver copies of the
response to the grievant and the supervisor by 4:30 p.m. of the next business day. Extended time
limits can be granted at any of these steps if both parties mutually agree in writing.
Flow chart Will be handed in with the hard copy.
2. Strengths
Indiana State s process of policy grievance is a three step system in which the employee has to
take action and file a form to the supervisor for an appointment. The supervisor then looks over the
file and then meets with the employee and witnesses. Then the supervisor has five days to go over
the facts presented to him and returns a response to the employee and the human resources
department. This is an example of building a consultation before, then giving the feedback after
reviewed.
The process of the second step if the grievance is not resolved the employee has to contact the
human resources employee relations representative. The form given to the employee is marked
with questions such as: where did the incident occur, facts and exact information, and a suggested
resolution. This step goes with putting the focus on interests and keeping it

Reflection Of A Look At The Washed Ashore Sculpture Exhibit
This semester I attended the Washed Ashore Sculpture Exhibit. It is located on the campus of Iowa
State University in the Reiman Gardens. This event is related to Humanities because exhibit houses
many art sculptures made of trash. The trash is plastics and other house hold items that have
washed ashore in Oregon and Northern California. The purpose of the exhibit is to raise awareness
to the damages of plastic to the environment, what plastic can do to animals and ecosystems,
demonstrate how nonbiodegradable plastic is, and how much plastic there is in the ocean.
The exhibit is set up so that right as you walk it the butterfly exhibit entrance is off to your left,
and the research facility is off to your right. In between them is a hallway filled with Jellyfish made
of plastic water bottles and caps and other trash. At the end of the hallway is a pair of doors that
leads to a greenhouse that a bunch of plants and a large jellyfish. When you go outside, there is a
pathway that leads to each of the gardens and ten sculptures that is featured inside the Washed
Ashore Sculpture Exhibit.
I had four favorite sculptures in the gardens. One of my favorite pieces was the Polar Bear. Right as
you approached the entrance to the park, you are greeted by the polar bear. The polar bear
represented the results of global warming and loss of land for polar bears to live and hunt on.
Another was the Giant Jellyfish. Inside the greenhouse there was a giant Jellyfish hanging from the
ceiling.

Analysis of Soda Ash and Carbonate-Bicarbonate Mixture
Analysis of Soda Ash and Carbonate Bicarbonate Mixture

Abstract
A standard acid solution like HCl can be used as titrant for the analysis of both soda ash and a
carbonate bicarbonate mixture. In the analysis of soda ash, the volume needed to neutralize the soda
ash is used to compute for its alkalinity, in this experiment we obtained a 17.6 % alkalinity with an
error of 15.14% In the analysis of a carbonate bicarbonate mixture two indicators (phenolphthalein
and methyl orange) were used. The first endpoint determines the half neutralization of the carbonate
and the second determines that of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Three trials were made and the average percentage alkalinity was reported.
Analysis of Carbonate Bicarbonate Mixture For this experiment, a pH meter was used so this part
of the experiment began with the calibration of the pH meter with specified buffers. The buret was
then filled with the standard HCl solution and a set up for titration was prepared. 200g of the
carbonate bicarbonate solid sample was weighed and dissolved in 100 mL of distilled water. The
sample solution was then transferred into a 250 ml volumetric flask and was diluted to the 250
mL mark. The flask was inverted several times for uniform mixing. A 50 mL aliquot of the sample
solution was measured and placed unto a beaker. 3 drops of the phenolphthalein indicator was
added to the solution in the beaker. The electrode of the pH meter was then immersed in the beaker
and the solution containing the carbonate bicarbonate mixture was titrated with the standard HCl
solution to the phenolphthalein endpoint. Readings of the pH were taken at an interval of 0.5 mL
addition of the titrant. After the first endpoint is obtained, 3 drops of the methyl orange was added
to the same solution and was titrated with the standard acid until the formation of an orange colored
solution. Readings of the pH were also taken at 0.5 mL addition of the titrant. Results and Discussion

Hazel Grace Lancaster In The Fault In Our Stars By John Green
From the book, The Fault in Our Stars, by John Green, the main character, Hazel Grace
Lancaster, is a person to admire. Foremost, she is a person to admire since she is selfless and
caring. First, Hazel is a person to admire since she is selfless. For example, Hazel parents are
excited by Hazel trip to Amsterdam as they talk about it for dinner, but notice that Hazel is
unusually quiet, and they confront her about it. Hazel responds that she is like a grenade and
that she ll someday explode so she ll like to reduce any casualties. I m a grenade, I said again, I
just want to stay from away people and read books and think and be with you guys because there s
nothing I can do about hurting you; you re too invested, so just please let me... Show more content

Third, Hazel is a person to admire since she s humorous. Specifically, Hazel talks about her
diagnosis with Stage four thyroid cancer when she was thirteen. (I didn t tell him that the
diagnosis came three months after I got my first period. Like: Congratulations! You re a woman.
Now die) (Green 24). This shows Hazel is a person to admire since she is humorous because she
jokes about the irony of her becoming a woman to soon be basically diagnosed with character
and most likely dying instead of being depressed or self pitying. Lastly, Hazel is a person to
admire since she is smart. In particular, when first conversing with Augustus in the car, she
mentions that due to her condition, she had to drop out of from high school, and she can t go
back since she already has taken her GED so now she taking classes from the local community
college. This shows that Hazel is a person to admire since she is smart because although, she has
dropped out of school, she was still able to take the quite tough test, GED, in order to do so, and
seems to be fine taking college level classes at her age of sixteen. Therefore, Hazel is funny and
smart, making her a person to admire. In conclusion, the main character in The Fault in Our Stars

The Rhetorical Analysis Of The King s Speech
In the film The King s Speech , written by David Seidler and released on November 26, 2010, the
filmmaker portrays Albert being constantly under pressure for speaking correctly, by comparing his
speech to great broadcasters who are anything but great leaders. The pressure that comes from
Albert s father, King George V, results in more frustration for the both of them, without either of
them realising that to lead a country into greatness depends more on just speaking well. Throughout
the film, there had been ideal speechmodels like Hitler, David, and King George V, shown in
order to compare their speech to Albert s and to show what a great speaker has to sound in order
to gain the public s support. Ironically, all of those speech perfect models turned out to be
egocentric individuals and the least egotistical leader, Albert, is the one with the impaired
speech. I argue that in The King s Speech , the characters who serve as models of ideal speech
are figures of oppression, therefore the author is implying that the idea of having ideal speech does
not live up to it s praise.
Oppressive leaders like Hitler have used public speaking in order to bring destruction to the
world like war. In the scene when the royal family is watching him on the projector, Hitler is
controlling a mass army while speaking with a powerful tone in a fast and concise pace. Hitler s
body language also represents the intensity of his message to his country by pointing his fingers
vigorously. The

Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of VRLOG HDL
5.2.1 OVERVIEW OF VERILOG HDL Verilog HDL is a Hardware Description Language
(HDL). A Hardware Description Language is a language used to depict an advanced framework,

Introduction
Sexual conflict, the conflict between the evolutionary interests of individuals of the two sexes, is
recognized as a pertinent factor for adaptation. Traits of one sex that reduce the fitness of the other
sex ultimately inflicts antagonistic selection on that sex to evolve to counteract this cost. For
example, sexual conflicts can arise over traits like mating duration, where the two sexes adapt and
counter adapt in order for each sex to achieve its ideal fitness levels. However, the fact that
adaptations have effects on other fitness components suggests that the detection of sexual conflicts
on individual traits can be complicated. The bean beetle Callosobruchus maculatus is a prime
example of sexual conflict and is widely considered a model organism to scientists for its ability to
represent how mating behavior influences biological processes such as reproduction. The model
organism dedicates its short life span to mating and laying eggs on beans, thereby enabling
scientists to use the beetles for experimentation. Two of C. maculatus populations are Burkina Faso
(BF), originating from Africa, and Southern India (SI), originating from Asia. The geographic
differences these populations encounter ultimately impact their reproduction

Okonkwo Violence Quotes
Violence is a key factor due to the way it contributes to the shaping of Chinua Achebe s novel,
Things Fall Apart. Okonkwo [is] a man of action, a man of war. (69). He is a man of bravery,
loyalty, little emotion, and a war like mindset. The novel focuses the changes of the Ibo clan in
Nigeria during the 1890s; with colonization of white settlers and the new religion, Christianity.
Throughout the novel multiple scenes of horrific violence occur, which affect the outcome of the
events that result from this violence. The significance of violence befalls in the novel, but
particularly during the killing of Ikemefuna, the accidental shooting, and the beheading of the head
messenger. The violence perceived during the killing of Ikemefuna exposes... Show more content on

dignity and self respect. This act of violence pushes Okonkwo to his breaking point. He defeats
himself. Okonkwo makes the ultimate sacrifice and kills

Homeless Criminalization Research Paper
Homelessness has been around for a long time, but crimination of the homeless is a topic that just
occurred recently. When criminalization came about there was two groups in the U.S., one side
opposed to it and the other supported it. The group that opposes criminalization of homeless
people are advocates who believe that criminalizing homeless people will only worsen the
situation and cause more problems to begin with, make our nation as a whole look bad, and
violates their rights. Another reason why a person advocates against the criminalization of
homeless people believe in what they believe is that they had a personal experience relating to this
subject or out of concern for the citizens who reside in this country. Instead of wasting the

The French Health Care System
Introduction France, a member country of the Organization for Economic Co operation and
Development (OECD), has the total population around 63 million and steady growth rate around
0.7% (OECD, 2013). France has great performance in a number of measures of well being. For
instance, according to the OECD statistics (OECD, 2013), the average household net adjusted
disposable income of France is 28,310 USD per year, which is much more than the OECD
average (23, 047 USD). Compared to the OECD average employment rate between 15 and 64
years age, which is 66%, French slightly lower (64%). However, the number is still better than
most of the OECD countries such as the USA (OECD, 2013). In terms of health, life expectancy
at birth in France is 82 years, which is higher than the OECD average (80 years). Specifically, life
expectancy for females is 86 years while the figure for males is 79 (OECD, 2013). In 2000, the
World Health Organisation (WHO) generated the annual report of which the theme was the health
care system performance all over the world (WHO, 2000). This report specifically analysed the
performance of the healthcare systems of 191 countries and ranked based on a lot of criteria.
Surprisingly, the French health care system was ranked the first place for the overall performance.
Since then, the discussion and debate around the French health care system has never ended. The

Richard II Tragic Hero Essay
Shakespeare really wrote tragedies of great heights and earned standard category. His one of the
best creation Richard II is a historical play rather being a tragedy. The history play is usually
distinguished especially by its political purposes from other kinds of plays.shakespeare emphasized
the political issue mainly in this play. He tried to show the conflict between Richard and
Bolingbroke and finally the rebellion. The play is consequently written not about the down fall of
its hero but around the chronological stages by which Bolingbroke threatens, captures, and retains
the crown. Throughout a tragedyplay readers suffer with the hero and feel sympathy for the hero
but it does not happen with Richard II. So the play cannot be claim as a tragedy.

(Elliott. History and Tragedy in Richard II).
According to my point of view, Richard II is not a complete tragic hero. He did not have the
qualities of a real tragic hero though he was from a high ststus and died at last. He was not a
good person, a foolish king, a weak and unwise politician, irresponsible self centered person. He
misused his power, increased taxes to accomplish his luxury expenses, took wrong decision,
murderer of his uncle, in a word, he was an unworthy leader.
From the earlier scene Richard II is devoid of for anyone. Through the quarrel between
Bolingbroke and Mowbray, Richard takes advantage to get rid of the crime of murder his uncle
Gloucester.Rather trying to solve the conflict he tried to hide his crime by banishing them.
Richard s inability to make peace between Bolingbroke and Mowbray is sometimes seen as an
indication of his weakness proposed by Tillyard, Campbell, and Ribner. (Elliott. History and

Ordinary Men Essay How did a battalion of middle aged reserve policemen find themselves
facing the task of shooting some 1,500 Jews in the Polish village of Josefow in the summer of
1942 (Browning, 3)? This question is asked in the beginning of Ordinary Men: Reserve Police
Battalion 101 written by Christopher Browning, a historian and famous author. This compelling
book tells the real story of the German Order Police throughout the two world wars, specifically
World War Two. However, he mainly focuses on one particular group, the Reserve Police
Battalion 101. In this group contained lower to middle class middle aged men who were too old
to be helpful to the German Army so were put into the Order Police (Browning, 1). He uses this

Browning likes this idea because it proves his thesis right. He believes that the ordinary men in
this Battalion are not to blame for the mass genocides and random shootings and that the officers

In the 21st century, information systems are being heavily integrating into our everyday routiunes.
Such systems present numerous morally questionable situations for humans (Mumford 2003).

The Psychology Of Conversion Therapy
What Conversation Therapy Actually Does
While reading Hard Rock Return to Prison by Etheridge Knight one may start to think of the
effects of correcting or convert someone s behavior to a more favorable one. This idea is present
in today s society and to better understand this believe and practice one will have to explore the
psychology of conversion therapy. Conversion Therapy or reparative therapy is a range of
dangerous and discredited practices that falsely claim to change a person s sexual orientation or
gender identity or expression (Human Rights Campaign). This defines what Hard Rock
experiences in this poem and to further understand and deepen ones understand modern psychology
and medicine offer a way of explain this. Through explore the effects and what happens to someone
during correction therapy one can be educated more on Hard Rock.
Conversion therapy which is primary used to convert homosexual or bisexual males and females to
become heterosexual has been proven not to work by many modern day experts in the field of
psychology and psychiatry. David Michael Conner, a writer for the Huffington Post in the LGBQ
department, explains conversion therapy as the following It involves electrocuting and drugging
LGBT people to make them suffer while looking at homosexual pornography in order to convert
them to heterosexuality (Conner). Those who are homosexual are tortured in attempts to correct
them of their illness .

Revolution The Main Outcomes of the Industrial Revolution The Industrial Revolution had a huge
impact on society. The major effects were socially and economically. It is rather difficult to date the
start of the industrial revolution but history books of today suggest the onset during the 18th
century. The change from agriculture to industry was vast and it must be remembered that England
was the first country to undergo this profound change. The initial effect on engineering industries
arising at the start of the Industrial Revolution were due partly to the geographical location of the

Resources e.g. Coal Petrochemicals The British coal industry was the major contributor to the
Industrial Revolution. The industry utilised the first steam powered engines of Newcommen
and many more that followed. As production grew from these applications the new railways were
used to transport the vast amounts of coal being produced. In 1830 steam power could wind
men and coal up and down a few hundred feet. By the 1860s there were pithead engines of 1500
hp. For 100 years from 1850 coal made up more than half of the railways freight. In 1913 one out
of every 14 British workers was employed at a coalmine. In the same year there were 3,289 pits.
Coal was used to power the giant iron works and the textile industry. The gasworks of the early
1800s were burning thousands of tons per year. The coal used in these gasworks was roasted and
this resulted in coke as a waste product. This coke was then sold on to the ironworks. In the 1860s
British engineers were still improving the steam engine. But there French and German counterparts
were short of steam coal so they turned there attention to gas. A

Lufthansa
Lufthansa
Lufthansa
In January 1985, a German company that uses Deutschmarks made a large purchase from a U.S.
company that uses U.S. dollars, and needed to evaluate the best hedging alternatives to secure the
least possible cost. The Chairman of Lufthansa, Herr Heinz Ruhnau, purchased twenty 737 jets
from Boeing. The total purchase price was $500,000,000, which was payable in U.S. dollars on
delivery of the aircrafts in one year.
Chairman Ruhnau chose a partial cover by hedging 50% of the exposure with forward contracts,
which was $250 million at the one year forward rate of DM3.2/$. He left the remaining 50% ($250
million) uncovered.
Due to this decision, Lufthansa paid DM225,000,000 more than if Ruhnau would have ... Show

This steady rise showed the U.S. dollar was strong and would steadily increase or fluctuate around

Scenario 3: The U.S. dollar may decrease
Even though Ruhnau and many others expected the U.S. dollar to decrease, there was no way of
knowing with absolute certainty that would come to fruition and how much it would actually fall.
Ruhnau needed to make a decision with the information he had.
Forecasting
There are various forecasting techniques, which include the Efficient Markets Approach, the
Fundamental Approach, and the Technical Approach. Even if Ruhnau researched and followed
these methods, they would still not predict with certainty the future U.S. dollar rate. They would
either confirm or counter his expectations and he would need to make a decision without being able
to accurately predict the future exchange rate. There are also other factors that could dramatically
affect the U.S. dollar or German Deutschmark, such as unexpected events which could make
significant impacts in appreciation or depreciation.
Necessity, Timing, and Purchase Price
In the 1980 s, Lufthansa increased the number of non stop connections and more dense route

aircrafts could be used for expansion or growth. Potential sales from expansion opportunities of

that I could get ready in time to leave early. The first thing I did was take a shower, then I
finished packing my bags, and finally I got ready to leave. My grandma came and picked me up
around 5:45 and we headed to her house. Once, we got to her house my grandpa was in the

were on our way. After a long 5 hour drive (that I slept during most of) we made it to our

addicts tend to work less effective than normal people. Productivity declines owing to a large
number of factors, including absenteeism, workplace accidents and conflicts at the workplaces. The
article also shows, in 2011, the productivity losses related to druguses cost $120 billion (0.9 per

Supporters say that legalizing drugs may bring a lot of medical benefits. Indeed, drug
legalization may actually protect drug users. For instance, people may easily buy clean needles
in any pharmacy instead of sharing used needles. Contaminated needles are very dangerous
because they may transmit to HIV, Hepatitis C, and other blood borne diseases, so if drugs are
legalized, people can safely use drugs by clean needles and reduce health risks. In contrast, there
are many studies show that drug uses may be very harmful to human health. National Institute on
Drug Abuse, for example, indicates, Using marijuana causes impaired thinking and interferes
with a user s ability to learn and to perform complicated tasks. This means that if people use
marijuana in a period of time, it will negatively affect their brain areas that regulate balance,
posture, coordination, and reaction time. This is the reason people who have used marijuana may
not be able to drive a car safely and may be impaired at playing sports or other physical activities.

of the most popular 1990 s grunge bands and bridged the gap between punk and rock. Nirvana
had many drummers, but Grohl was the one who finished the band with them and joined just in

Reinsured Essay
reinsured has granted an indemnity without having reinsurance cover (as the reinsurance contract
is voidable). A reinsurer may also rely on a breach of the underlying insured and its failure to
disclose material facts to the reinsured. In cases of non disclosure of an underlying insured, a
reinsured may make an ex gratia payment and therefore, the reinsurer may argue that there is no
indemnification. In each situation where reinsurance is voided, the reinsured is left in an
unfavourable position, affecting the reinsured s regulatory capital and solvency position. The UK
Act abolishes the avoidance as the sole remedy for a breach of the duty of good faith and provides
a range of proportionate remedies that are contingent on the intention of the reinsured. This is
similar to the Act, which provides for a remedy proportionate to the failure to comply with a duty of

The Analysis and Comparison of the Themes of Beowulf ,...
An epic is best described by the Merriam Webster Dictionary as a long narrative
poem in elevated style recounting the deeds of a legendary or historical hero. Epics like
Beowulf and The Odyssey are perfect examples of this definition; they are each
centered on the deeds and triumphs of their heroes, Beowulf and Odysseus. All epics are
similar in a way that they are made up of elements. One major element of the epic is its
themes. In all epics, the themes are what make and mold these narrative poems, they
descriptively outline the story. Most epics, like Beowulf and The Odyssey, have
themes like battles, homecoming, identity, recognition etc. Through themes like these,

Although, his wife Penelope did not know until he turns back to his

father. But, Odysseus eventually persuades Telemachus to accept him as his father. As
stated before, in Homer s epic, an identity cannot be claimed until recognition of that
identity from others is claimed first .
Like The Odyssey , Beowulf is also a legendary epic that includes the themes
identity, homecoming, battles and recognition as its primary focus. In Beowulf , the
themes homecoming and recognition are very closely related. When Beowulf returns to
Geatland, he is greatly rewarded for his works. He reunites with King Hygelac and tells of
his great adventures. Recognition is shown by Beowulf giving most of his treasure
received to the King, and in return is awarded with treasure of his home from King
Hygelac. Beowulf was praised and glorified for his homecoming(s) to Geatland and his return
from his victories over Grendel and his mother. He wasrecognized as a true hero , an Anglo
Saxon hero to be exact. In Beowulf , Kingdoms acknowledged Beowulf by showering him with
treasures, feasts and celebrations. Like God, to the Geats and Danes, he was worthy of all praises.

Helen Of Troy And Greek Mythology
Helen of Troy was the daughter of Zeus and Leda in Greek mythology. She has a twin sister
named Clytemnestra as well as her twin brothers Castor and Pollux (Dioscuri). Helen was

by Theseus, who left her in the care of his mother but Helenwas later rescued by her brothers when
they invaded Athens. Many suitors tried to win Helen s hand after her return and eventually

Another theme was choices that were made; first Zeus chooses not to get involved with the
matter so he tells Paris to be the judge. Then Paris has to make a major decision on who to
choose as the fairest of them all. Each goddess starts bribing Paris with things that could change
his life which makes it harder for Paris to choose as he is deciding on his entire future depending
on who he chooses. Paris chooses Aphrodite meaning Paris wins the heart of Helen. Helen was
under a spell by Aphrodite so she had no free will to choose whether she wanted to stay or go with
Paris. Paris took Helen and unfortunately for many people that choice ended up causing thousands
of deaths and the destruction of Troy.

Adam Smith Research Paper
You may be asking yourself, what is a economic system? Or even an economy? Of course
economy is one of those loaded terms that get thrown around a lot by politicians and
CNN, but do we really even know what it is? According to Business Dictionary, Economy is
defined as: An entire network of producers, distributors, and consumers of goods and services in a
local, regional, or national community. So In other words, any economy is absolutely everything that
relates to finances. People that sell, People who buy, what you sell and buy, how its distributed, etc.
Now, an economic system, is how that network is organized, or in the words of Austin Powers, its
mojo. The way it runs, its rules, etc. Without it, economies would be chaos.

Now, that we have some of the most successful economies, lets compare them. I see many
similarities between Marxism and a Traditional economy. They are both very laid back, and
everyone is treated equally. Capitalism, differs from the two, with the only similarity it shares with
them is disregarding the idea of having a central government. Now, out of these three, I believe that
a traditional economy would work the best. Yes, it has some serious problems, but I believe its
advantages outweigh its disadvantages.
As this paper comes to an end, I would just like to remind you of the three economic choices, and
their characteristics. Capitalism sets everything to be privately owned, and pushes the idea of two
social classes. Marxism sets the playing field equal, and treats everyone equal in every way.
Finally, Traditionalism has no rules, and everything just works out well, because it does. All in all,
there are many different factors that separate Capitalism, Marxism, and
Traditionalism. These factors make it extremely difficult to come up with an ultimate best system,
especially because they all work differently in application, then in theory. Despite

Advanced Methodology With Response Surface Methodology Essay
Robust design (RD) based on the concept of building and improving quality into a design has
been paid much attention by researchers and practitioners for years, and a number of approaches
have been introduced in the literature. There exist many research attempts to integrate RD
methodology with response surface methodology (RSM). The three level full factorial design
embedded higher order polynomial models may be more useful in order to obtain better RD
solutions than the second order model. In this paper, we propose a dual response surface approach
based on higher order polynomial models in order to optimize the process bias and standard
deviationresponses at the same time while the process meanis restricted by the lower and upper
specification limits. We also discuss why the three level full factorial design is preferred over the
other second order designs, such as the traditional central composite design, with higher polynomial
models. In addition, the significance levels of the model fittings are sought out by the model
selection procedure. A numerical example is given to illustrate the superiority of the proposed
approach, as compared with the traditional methods.
In many quality engineering applications, the objective is to determine the relationship between
the controllable input variables, xi, and a quality characteristic, y. Several designs are available in
the literature for fitting first , second or higher order polynomial models over spherical or cuboidal

Comparing A Good Man Is Hard To Find And Good Country People
The Power of Judgement
Are there really any good people living on this planet? This question seems to loom in the one s
mind after reading Flannery O Connor s two stories, A Good Man is Hard to Find and Good
Country People . Not only does O Connor portray gruesome imagery throughout both stories, she
also incorporates aspects of religion. What makes these stories captivating is the element of pure
shock during the climax. Nevertheless, the short stories both help the readers visualize how judging
others or jumping to conclusions about certain individuals can have a dramatic conclusion.
O Connor enlightens the readers about how judging a book by its cover or jumping to certain
conclusions about others can be fatal. This is shown in Good Country People when the main
character Hulga gets too comfortable with a bible salesman named Manley Pointer. Even though
Pointer seems simple or of good country people , he is the polar opposite. In fact, he has a secret

College Is The Waste Of Time And Money
In College is the Waste of Time and Money , author Caroline Bird argues that college is not
better suited for those who are looking to be financially successful. This is based on the facts of a
low turnover ratio of students in colleges and universities and calculation that money spent on
college would have yield higher returns from other businesses such as new venture and start up
companies. Bird urges us not to spend time and money on colleges and universities. It is true that
colleges and universities have become highly profitable businesses and exorbitant fees have made
parents of a low income search for other opportunities for their children. However, the positive sides
of higher educationcannot be overlooked. The Collegeproduces highly skilled personnel in
engineering, chemistry, and other disciplines. In addition to the skills, social status, and reputation,
which are considered to be an intangible worth, are associated with college education. The higher
the education, the higher the prestige. Because knowledge and skills acquired through college
education removes the darkness of ignorance, college administrators need to exploit this potential
by making college an affordable place to get a practical education rather than making it a place to
earn financial revenues.
With the slogan, education for all , the United States aspired many parents and students to attend

on the past, SFC helps students focus on the present and find solutions that will help the student

This element promotes self advocacy by allowing the student to analyze issues they dealt with in the
past and if they are experiencing it in the present, have the student think about the solution that
helps, if something did not help, the student can think about what can be done differently to help
the issue. This is where the miracle question is asked. The student can also put themselves in
another peer s shoe and analyze how that individual has dealt with the problem.
Encourage: Helps students build courage and hope. As the counselor, it is important for counselors
to ensure that the students know that you believe in them. Encouragement allows the students to
feel centered and motivated in tackling the issue by having support by another person.
Seeds of Success: Counselors use language to visualize a successful future. For example, asking the
student Who will be the first to notice when things change? Allowing the student to encompass a
certain way of thinking allows the student to no longer feel stuck or dwell on the issue because the
answer to the question poses as progress, success, and/or even motivation.
Plan of Action: The agreement between the student and counselor about the student s plan and how
the student will solve a problem/find a solution. Planning to follow up with the student is ideal but

Red Glass Analysis
Looking Through the Red Glass Throughout Red Glass, by Laura Resau, the characters have to
overcome many changes. One character that changes dramatically is the main character,
Sophie. At the beginning of the novel, Sophie is introduced as a sheltered girl, terrified of the
outside world. Sophie experiences many things that influence her to become a young woman
that is willing to sacrifice her safety for the people she loves. She is influenced mostly by the
antagonist, Angel. Angel supports Sophie in ways that make her want to change herself.
Sophie changes positively throughout the story into a strong, fearless person, and Angel s love
for her is what makes her capable of that change. Sophie introduces herself in the story as a nerdy,
outcasted teenage girl, I always thought of myself as a free floating one celled amoeba,
minding my own business. The other kids at school were all parts of a larger organism. . . Not
particularly noticed, definitely not appreciated, just an amoeba swimming around aimlessly (9).
Sophie feels as if she does not belong where she grew up, she has always felt like she was on the
outside. Her father, a drug dealer and felon, left her mother when she was first born. Because of
her extreme self esteem issues, Sophie blames herself for her father leaving. She recalls what she

Besides, I believe ethics are a collection of principles and practices that a business believes in and
aims to live by. The Cheesecake Factory s mission statement and more specific policies about
conduct to give employees, partners, vendors, and outsiders an idea of what the corporation
stands for and how it s staff should conduct themselves. Key areas that are of significant
importance to The Cheesecake Factory start with the general standards of conduct in how all its
employees will be treated by fellow employees and by management. The standards deals the basic
values that we all have, with the expectation of building trust, loyalty, honesty, respect, and a high
level of professionalism within the company. This will create a positive working environment that
will uplift the attitudes and morale of its employees and depending on what your position is could
increase productivity and customer relations. All jobs have a certain amount stress related to it, but
having those basic codes of the takes away a lot the negative personal stress that can arrive on the
job.
In conclusion, I still consider The Cheesecake Factory is my favorite place to eat. Even though I
had a bad experience there once, I think that they can improve it better.

Black Tailed Prairie Dogs Case Study
Discussion on Black Tailed Prairie Dogs LRS Black tailed prairie dogs (Cynomys ludovicianus)
demonstrated an improved long term reproductive success until a disproportionate ratio of helpers
to breeders (exceeding amount of helpers to breeders) became injurious to the coterie. In addition,
we observed an increased aggression (25% increase) in coteries with more helpers present than
smaller ones. Lastly, we found that there was more communication within coteries that contained an
average helper pool size than in smaller and larger helper pool size coteries. These factors may have
created the results that we observe, such as less competition and how much helpers aid breeders.
Less Competition Our results suggest the improved long term reproductive success is due to the
number of helpers remaining relatively small. We suppose that having fewer helpers lowers the
need for completion and increases communication among individuals within the coteries between
individuals. Competition creates among individuals for resources and causes evolution, yet
competition can be harmful where too much exists. In brown capuchin monkeys, larger... Show

This indicates that when the helper to breeder ratio becomes too high, the coterie becomes too
competitive, thus lowering the black tailed prairie dogs long term reproductive success. From our
observations, prairie dogs seemed more disgruntled when there were more helpers, which may
have been instrumental in lowering the long term reproductive success. This disgruntled behavior,
which is a 25% increase in aggression, includes increased biting of other adults in addition to
continual collisions with other members within the coterie. There are two possibilities for this
increased aggression: used in a way to regulate how much helpers help or caused by year

What Is The Message Of The Man On The Moon By John Lewis
A medium sized suburban home comes into view; a light snowfall blankets the world in a sheet of
cotton as the sounds of Christmas music fill the air. The street is covered in brightly colored orbs
of light strung carefully from every rooftop. Despite the busy season, the air feels light with
Christmas cheer as despite the chilly weather there is a feeling of warmth through every home. The
Christmasseason had finally arrived, coming into view as quick as a flicker of the home s hearth.
No matter where you go you can feel the spirit of the holidays throughout every home, every meal,
and every celebration. The holiday season fills each and every person with emotion, an emotion
that is hard to describe but everyone who has experienced the holidays knows. Trying to capture
this emotion is difficult, yet sometimes his emotion can truly be harnessed and celebrated.
John Lewis has always been known for their Christmas advertisements and the powerful emotions
that they inspire. John Lewis is a United Kingdom and an online business that focuses on the selling
of multiple products from holiday decorations, gifts, and even items such as insurances or luxury
cars. This companies appeal is not only their selection of products but the message of togetherness
and family as they attempt to put into everything that they sell. Their Christmas advertisement titled
The Man on the Moon was their 2015 attempt to celebrate this message as well as team up with the
United Kingdom charity Age UK.

It is located on the campus of Iowa State University in the Reiman Gardens. This event is related to Humanities because exhibit houses many art sculptures made of trash. The trash is plastics and other house hold items that have washed ashore in Oregon and Northern California. The purpose of the exhibit is to raise awareness to the damages of plastic to the environment, what plastic can do to animals and ecosystems, demonstrate how nonbiodegradable plastic is, and how much plastic there is in the ocean. The exhibit is set up so that right as you walk it the butterfly exhibit entrance is off to your left, and the research facility is off to your right. In between them is a hallway filled with Jellyfish made of plastic water bottles and caps and other trash. At the end of the hallway is a pair of doors that leads to a greenhouse that a bunch of plants and a large jellyfish. When you go outside, there is a pathway that leads to each of the gardens and ten sculptures that is featured inside the Washed Ashore Sculpture Exhibit. I had four favorite sculptures in the gardens. One of my favorite pieces was the Polar Bear. Right as you approached the entrance to the park, you are greeted by the polar bear. The polar bear represented the results of global warming and loss of land for polar bears to live and hunt on. Another was the Giant Jellyfish. The Rhetorical Analysis Of The King s Speech In the film The King s Speech , written by David Seidler and released on November 26, 2010, the filmmaker portrays Albert being constantly under pressure for speaking correctly, by comparing his speech to great broadcasters who are anything but great leaders. The pressure that comes from Albert s father, King George V, results in more frustration for the both of them, without either of them realising that to lead a country into greatness depends more on just speaking well. Throughout the film, there had been ideal speechmodels like Hitler, David, and King George V, shown in order to compare their speech to Albert s and to show what a great speaker has to sound in order to gain the public s support. Ironically, all of those speech perfect models turned out to be egocentric individuals and the least egotistical leader, Albert, is the one with the impaired speech. I argue that in The King s Speech , the characters who serve as models of ideal speech are figures of oppression, therefore the author is implying that the idea of having ideal speech does not live up to it s praise. Oppressive leaders like Hitler have used public speaking in order to bring destruction to the world like war. Effects Of Male Competition On Mating Behavior Vassar College The Effects of Male Competition on Mating Behavior in Burkina Faso and Southern India Populations of Callosobruchus maculatus Rachel Chernet Biology 106 01 Professor Czesak Thursday, November 10, 2016 Introduction Sexual conflict, the conflict between the evolutionary interests of individuals of the two sexes, is recognized as a pertinent factor for adaptation. Traits of one sex that reduce the fitness of the other sex ultimately inflicts antagonistic selection on that sex to evolve to counteract this cost. For example, sexual conflicts can arise over traits like mating duration, where the two sexes adapt and counter adapt in order for each sex to achieve its ideal fitness levels. However, the fact that adaptations have effects on other fitness components suggests that the detection of sexual conflicts on individual traits can be complicated. The bean beetle Callosobruchus maculatus is a prime example of sexual conflict and is widely considered a model organism to scientists for its ability to represent how mating behavior influences biological processes such as reproduction. The model organism dedicates its short life span to mating and laying eggs on beans, thereby enabling scientists to use the beetles for experimentation. Two of C. maculatus populations are Burkina Faso (BF), originating from Africa, and Southern India (SI), originating from Asia. • 23. Reinsured Essay reinsured has granted an indemnity without having reinsurance cover (as the reinsurance contract is voidable). A reinsurer may also rely on a breach of the underlying insured and its failure to disclose material facts to the reinsured. In cases of non disclosure of an underlying insured, a reinsured may make an ex gratia payment and therefore, the reinsurer may argue that there is no indemnification. In each situation where reinsurance is voided, the reinsured is left in an unfavourable position, affecting the reinsured s regulatory capital and solvency position. The UK Act abolishes the avoidance as the sole remedy for a breach of the duty of good faith and provides a range of proportionate remedies that are contingent on the intention of the reinsured. This is similar to the Act, which provides for a remedy proportionate to the failure to comply with a duty of disclosure in relation to general insurance contracts and for life insurance contracts, variation to the terms. An epic is best described by the Merriam Webster Dictionary as a long narrative poem in elevated style recounting the deeds of a legendary or historical hero. Epics like Beowulf and The Odyssey are perfect examples of this definition; they are each centered on the deeds and triumphs of their heroes, Beowulf and Odysseus. All epics are similar in a way that they are made up of elements. One major element of the epic is its themes. In all epics, the themes are what make and mold these narrative poems, they descriptively outline the story. Now, out of these three, I believe that a traditional economy would work the best. Yes, it has some serious problems, but I believe its advantages outweigh its disadvantages. As this paper comes to an end, I would just like to remind you of the three economic choices, and their characteristics. Capitalism sets everything to be privately owned, and pushes the idea of two social classes. Marxism sets the playing field equal, and treats everyone equal in every way. Finally, Traditionalism has no rules, and everything just works out well, because it does. All in all, there are many different factors that separate Capitalism, Marxism, and Traditionalism. There exist many research attempts to integrate RD methodology with response surface methodology (RSM). The three level full factorial design embedded higher order polynomial models may be more useful in order to obtain better RD solutions than the second order model. In this paper, we propose a dual response surface approach based on higher order polynomial models in order to optimize the process bias and standard deviationresponses at the same time while the process meanis restricted by the lower and upper specification limits. We also discuss why the three level full factorial design is preferred over the other second order designs, such as the traditional central composite design, with higher polynomial models. In addition, the significance levels of the model fittings are sought out by the model selection procedure. A numerical example is given to illustrate the superiority of the proposed approach, as compared with the traditional methods. Black Tailed Prairie Dogs Case Study Discussion on Black Tailed Prairie Dogs LRS Black tailed prairie dogs (Cynomys ludovicianus) demonstrated an improved long term reproductive success until a disproportionate ratio of helpers to breeders (exceeding amount of helpers to breeders) became injurious to the coterie. In addition, we observed an increased aggression (25% increase) in coteries with more helpers present than smaller ones. Lastly, we found that there was more communication within coteries that contained an average helper pool size than in smaller and larger helper pool size coteries. These factors may have created the results that we observe, such as less competition and how much helpers aid breeders. Less Competition Our results suggest the improved long term reproductive success is due to the number of helpers remaining relatively small. We suppose that having fewer helpers lowers the need for completion and increases communication among individuals within the coteries between individuals. Competition creates among individuals for resources and causes evolution, yet competition can be harmful where too much exists. In brown capuchin monkeys, larger...
