Pathos In Nick Naylor
Evaluation
Nick Naylor is a lobbyist for cigarettes. He battles everyone who is anti cigarette. Mr. Naylor runs into
trouble in many different ways for defending the rights of smokers. Along the way, Nick twists some
words and becomes the hot topic on TV and in Hollywood. Nick defends against many things thrown
at him. Things such as a cancer boy, the Marlboro man and even the loss of his job. Nick Naylor is
effective and persuasive in argumentation. Mr. Naylor does a great job displaying ethos, logos, and
pathos. Each one of these appeals are important in the use of argumentation. Mr. Naylor is also
effective with fallacies, and even though what he is saying might not be true, it is effective. At the
beginning of the movie, Nick Naylor uses pathos. In the movie the anti tobacco people tried to make
Nick Naylor the bad guy. They brought out a boy that had cancer and tried to make him look bad.
Pathos specifically is trying to draw the emotion sympathy out of the audience. The audience was then
given an option on who to blame. The person they chose was Nick. Effectively, Nick Naylor diverted
the negative press away from him and toward the senator s assistant. Even though Nick was being
bashed by these people he maintained his stance. One thing I noticed about Nick is that he always
presents himself with a smile and with a positive message. He effectively uses pathos by using
positive vibes and then drawing them out from the audience. Also at the beginning of the

Western World Monarchy
In Chapter 12 of The Rise of the Western World, the monarchy was checked by the Parliament which
eventually led to efficient property rights and economic development. Major reason power of the
monarchy was reduced was out of fear that the crown would infringe on property rights; once the
monarchy was checked property rights were deemed to be protected by Common Law. England,
similar to France and Spain, had an unchecked executive that attempted to infringe on property rights.
They were solely concerned with identifying new sources of revenue regardless of the impact on the
economy as a whole. The monarchy in England confiscated church lands and allowed special grants
and privileges and collected number of fees to increase the revenue flow (146). ... Show more content

He secured common law over the development of commercial law and allied the Parliament with
common law (147). In addition to advocating the supremacy of the common law he also strived to end
the monopolistic privileges endowed by the crown. The Glorious Revolution ensured that England
would have a constitutional monarchy in which Parliament had the majority of the power and after the
Restoration, Parliament became dominant (149). As the Parliament rose, efficient property rights were

Society, Gender Roles and Gender-Conflict Essay example
Society, Gender Roles and Gender Conflict
Time and time again gender conflict is brought to the attention of the public in various forms. In our
time someone who wants to make a point about gender conflict and the inequality that is present will
be more likely to use television or song to reach their audience. This however is a fairly new
technology. Books or some form of writing on the other hand have been around for thousands of
years. Gender conflict is nothing new. It is not as though one day it just came out of no where. It has
been around since the dawn of time. What is a man s place and what is a woman s place in society or
is there really a specific place at all; further more are we even really that different to begin with? ...

Joan is able to provide the reader with a vivid description of the anxieties and ordeals of being a
female throughout childhood and adolescence. She starts out with the simple desire to love and be
loved, to find acceptance. These desires are not gender specific, as both males and females strive to be
love and be loved and find acceptance. The difference is how women and men actually find these. Due
to constant victimization by others a pattern of outsiders becomes Joan s guard and vengeance. Joan s
early misery and resentment causes her to see life as her enemy. Because Joan is made to feel as
though she is an object, as many women in her time as well as our own feel too, Joan learns to use
idealization as a weapon that will reach her emotionally unreachable mother: Joan claims to defy
every effort to make her reduce out of a fear of assimilation and loss of autonomy: I wasn t going to
let myself be diminished, neutralized. I wouldn t ever let her make me over in her image, thin and
beautiful (Atwood, 85 6). This in her mind would be surcoming to the gender stereotype that woman
not only should fit into, but had to fit into. It was her own way of rebelling against what a woman
should be and being herself. Whether this was the correct way to go about it, her reasons were her
reasons and that is what is important to her. Unfortunately this only caused a vicious circle. The more
she rebelled against the gender norm for her

Deception In The Scarlet Letter
Reality is easy. Deception that s the hard the hard work Lauryn Hill. In the novel the Scarlet Letter,
Nathaniel Hawthorne uses literary elements such as symbolism, irony and conflict to show deception
and secrecy can lead to self destruction. This relates to the Scarlet Letter because in the book the
protagonist character commits an act of sin that was more than just frowned upon. Not only does the
community gossip and turn their cheek to the sinner but a sickness comes along from keeping a secret
from the community.
Throughout the book many symbols were shown, the main symbol being the Scarlet Letter forced
upon Hester Prynne for committing adultery. When the scarlet letter was forced onto Hester Prynne
the community thought she deserved more than just having to wear a cloth on her. Though she tried to
hide the gold embroidered A, the community began gossiping loudly and even said that she deserved
to be stoned. Hester Prynne kept her adultery a secret and in the end the sin back fired and hurt her
more than she expected it to. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hester Prynne was at war with her conscience about telling the community who her mister was. Being
that Hester already committed the sin of adultery and the community found out about it she still
wanted to keep who her mister was a secret. Arthur Dimmesdale, who happens to be Hester Prynne s
mister was also at war with his conscience. Arthur Dimmesdale is said to be a man of the church, and
keeps being the father of Pearl and Hester s partner in adultery a secret and seemingly gets a heart
problem. Both Hester and Arthur already have committed a sin and initially keep their affair a secret

Do Males and Females Communicate with each other in different ways?
I do not give you the right to raise your voice to me because you are woman and I am man
(Tannen p 23) This statement is offensive to both men and women alike. Yet it is a true, telling
statement as well. This one sentence shows us that in many countries, including the U.S., a patriarchal
society creates a hierarchal push and pull between the genders, creating a very large gap in
communication. This assertion also brings up some important questions: Are males and females
merely people with different sexual organs? Or is it how we are raised which makes us communicate
differently? Does mass media attribute to societal inequalities? Or is our culture to blame for ... Show

Men often have larger salaries than women. In 2001, the median earnings of women full time were
$29,215, whereas men working full time earned $38,275. (Macionis p 335) According to a recent
survey, the top earners in Fortune 500 corporations include 2,162 men and only 93 women. (Macionis
p 333) Males are found in jobs where power is the main focus, police work, politics, and sales. While
women often take the nurturing roles of teaching, secretarial, or childcare. How can men and women
communicate in the same way, when gender roles are completely different? Sexism is also a large
issue for many women in the workplace. Most companies have
strict sexual harassment policies in effect, yet the abuse of women is still widespread. Based on a 1994
study performed by the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board, woman were sexually harassed by
sexual teasing, jokes, remarks, or questions on more than one occasion, 27 times to a mans 10 times.
The masculine left brain function is primarily associated with logic, numeracy, abstraction, analysis,
reduction, writing and speech. The feminine right brain is non verbal and its language is that of image.
It controls non logical states, views things in concrete fashion rather than abstract, and is connected to
intuition. It is both creative and nurturing, and is holistic in viewing things in an all at once fashion.

Howard County Flood Analysis
Flooding is one of the many risks that people and their private properties assume when they consider
living in a specific geographic location. This is true for the residents of Howard County, as they live
near the Chesapeake Bay, whose tributaries branch off into smaller rivers, streams and lakes. Due to
the fact that Howard County is more developed in the southeast and more rural in the west, there is a
correlation between the risk of flooding and the presence of human development. (any cite here?)
Natural factors play an integral role in determining the probability of flooding in a particular section
of the county as well. People and their private properties are highly impacted by flooding, as it can
cause death and injuries to humans ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

map required by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) that illustrates which parts of the
county are most at risk for flooding, as well as other informational categories(please elaborate on or

restrictions and permit requirements that prevent or at least make it more difficult for people to
establish (build?) their private properties in flood prone areas. For instance, Howard County has
restrictions that a resident s private property has to be within the County regulated 100 year floodplain
delineated for smaller drainage areas (Howard County website). (check on the accuracy of the
previous quote) In addition, residents must consult with county officials prior to altering the exterior
of their house in any way to ensure that the project is in compliance with any floodplain restrictions
(Anderson, Baltimore Sun). Finally, residents and their private properties can be better protected from
the financial risk of flooding if they acquire flood insurance, which is mandatory for certain high risk
areas (called Special Flood Hazard Areas) and has to

Spider-Man As A Spider Man
Honestly, if it was not for my brother, Hunter, I would not be here right now. He has been there to save
me, many, many time in my life. As a kid, I never thought of it as that, but now that I am thinking
about it as an older individual, I actually realize that I could be dead.
There is something about me that you should know before I continue this memoir, from the time I was
three until the time I was about seven, I had this unnecessary obsession with Spider Man. I would
make people call me Peter Parker, and if they didn t I would get mad at them. I would even answer the
telephone and say, Hello this is Peter Parker, but don t tell anyone I am Spider Man.
I would always ask for more Spider Man toys, clothing, and blankets. I even had a full Spider Man
suit at one point. The day before my fourth birthday, I was up in my room playing Spider Man on top
of my bed. Hunter wasn t playing with me, he was just in my room with me. I was trying to figure a
way to swing across my bed by flying like Spider Man. I found my window blinds string, saw that it
was white, and looked like Spider Man s webs. I couldn t figure out how to tie it on one of my wrists,
so I thought that it would be a good idea to tie it around my neck.
At this age, I didn t know the possibilities of what I was doing. After I tied the strings, I stared on one
side of my bed and sprinted to the other side of my bed and jumped. The next thing I knew, I wasn t

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Fibromyalgia
Abstract
Fibromyalgia is a chronic disorder that is characterized by a set of symptoms. These symptoms
include muscle pain, joint pain, and fatigue. It can also lead to depression. Fibromyalgia has been
compared to other disorders such as bursitis and tendinitis. The similarities in signs and symptoms
make it a little difficult to diagnose. Women are most likely to be diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. It is
still unknown as to why Fibromyalgia is more common in women. However, men and children are
still susceptible to the disorder. The cause for Fibromyalgia is relatively unknown. However, there are
indicators that my lead medical professionals to believe that certain factors can lead to Fibromyalgia.
Researchers are currently undergoing tests to determine whether or not a person is predisposed with a
gene that may cause Fibromyalgia. Diagnosing Fibromyalgia in patients is based strictly on the
amount of pain felt by the patient. Treatment of Fibromyalgia can be difficult due to the small number
of doctors who have knowledge of the condition. It is important to seek medical help from providers
who have extensive knowledge of Fibromyalgia such as rheumatologist.
Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia is a chronic disease that causes widespread pain. The cause of the disease is still

Analysis Of Faith And Doubt At Ground Zero
In the documentary Faith and Doubt at Ground Zero, a number of people were interviewed about how
their religious beliefs or non beliefs, were challenged since the events of September 11th. The
interviews with priests, rabbis, family members of victims, survivors, lay people, atheists and
agnostics, this documentary explores how Americans spiritual lives may have changed since the event.
When a tragic event happens, people would either grow closer to god or outgrow god. To those people
who do not believe in a god, these actions will just prove their beliefs. In the beginning of the film,
people immediately started to question God. Some of them started to question why would a god so
mighty approve this kind of actions. Dr. Michael Brescia, who is a physician who saw pictures of
people jumping off the building, I wonder how many of them thought if there was a God. And if there
was a God, why me? Why this? And where am I going to go? This kind of questions always come up
when something catastrophic happens. Others, however, did not ask any questions and just accepted
what has happened. Kim Coleman, who lost her daughter said, God knows something I don t, God
knows best and knows better than we do. There were also a couple of people who were not so sure
what to think of god anymore. Rev. Joseph Griesedieck, a priest who volunteered at Ground Zero said,
the face of God was a blank slate for me. God couldn t be counted on in the way that I thought God

How Weather Derivatives Are Based On Standard Derivative...
Weather derivatives are based on standard derivative structures, such as puts, calls, and swaps.
Fundamental attributes of these structures are: the tick size, which is the payout amount per unit in the
index beyond the strike; the strike, which is the value of the underlying index when the contract starts
to pay out; and the limit, which is the contract s maximum financial payout.
v. Premium .
The buyer of a weather option pays a premium to the seller that is typically between 10% and 20% of
the notional amount of the contract. It can vary significantly depending on the risk profile of the
contract. Usually there is not an upfront premium associated with swaps.

V. Who uses weather derivatives?
Within the larger category of exotic weather derivatives, there are a number of sub categories that are
utilized by companies who work in various markets. Unsurprisingly, the large companies who use
weather derivatives are those whose businesses are widely affected by the weather on a day to day
basis. Therefore, many weather derivative contracts are based on temperature, rainfall, and snowfall.
Demand for sophisticated and flexible OTC products involving these three variables are growing far
more quickly than standardized, exchange traded contracts. And there are new ideas and experimental
weather derivatives buzzing about the markets, including contracts based on sunshine and even wind
patterns.
Although today energy companies are the biggest users of these trades, there is growing awareness
and signs of potential growth in the trading of weather futures among agricultural firms, renewables,
mining, retail, construction companies, restaurants, and even companies involved in tourism and
travel, like hotels and airlines. The number of markets that could invest in and could benefit from
weather derivatives is endless. Here are some examples of industries and companies that currently use
weather derivatives, the type of weather they hedge on, and the risks they assume:

Literature Review On Seasickness
Chapter 2 LITERATURE REVIEW
2.0 Introduction
Seasickness is a terminology describing an illness that caused by an effect of motion, experienced by
an individual particularly at sea. Seasickness can be a serious problem for sailors. Not only does the
sick person feel terrible and become incapacitated, and therefore a problem too for others on a
shorthanded boat, but the dehydration that may result from repeated vomiting can become a medical
issue. About 90% of people will experience seasickness or motion sickness at some point in their
lives. If you re new to sailing, or have ever experienced nausea or dizziness on a boat, it s worthwhile
to take steps early to prevent seasickness. Once seasickness occurs, it s too late to do much more than
cope with it as best you can. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were a number of 19th and early 20th century attempts to develop anti motion sickness devices,
including an anti motion sickness belt manufactured by a Canadian company, a vibrating anti seasick
deck chair in which sitters imagine they are driving motor cars , advertised by the Hamburg American
Steamship Company, and most extravagantly the Bessemer Saloon a cabin modelled on the movement
of a compass and designed to maintain its stability independent from the movement of the ship.
The early 20th century development of air ships must have been a wonderful relief to the few wealthy
enough to travel in them. A detailed account by George Grant, a passenger on the ill fated Hindenburg,
stated that the movement of the Airship hardly varies. An occasional slight roll is therefore hardly
perceptible. Air sickness is quite unknown, a strong point which cannot be too strongly emphasized.
Unfortunately air ships have other issues and the famous Hindenburg Disaster of 1937 put an end to

Poe s The Raven Essay
Raven
During a cold, dark evening in December, a man is attempting to find some solace from the
remembrance of his lost love, Lenore, by reading volumes of forgotten lore. As he is nearly overcome
by slumber, a knock comes at his door. Having first believed the knock to be only a result of his
dreaming, he finally opens the door apologetically, but is greeted only by darkness. A thrill of half
wonder, half fear overcomes the speaker, and as he peers into the deep darkness, he can only say the
word Lenore. Upon closing the door, another knock is immediately heard from the chamber s window.
The narrator throws open the shutter and window, and in steps a large, beautiful raven, which
immediately posts itself on the bust of Pallas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Again, the word nevermore is the only answer. Shouting maniacally now, demanding that the bird take
its leave, the narrator attempts to dispatch the bird back to the Plutonian shore of Hell from whence it
came. The bird, the emblem of Mournful and Never ending Remembrance, replies again nevermore,
and sits there on the bust of Pallas to this day, ever a torment to the speaker s soul, and a reminder of
his lost love.
Importance of the Work:
The Raven is without a doubt the work for which Poe is best known. Through this poem, Poe has
taken his favorite theme, that of the untimely death of a beautiful woman, and made that theme
universally understandable and fascinating, earning himself literary immortality in the process. There
is no doubt that The Raven takes direct influence from Poe s life experiences. Poe was a moody
bookworm, and Virginia Poe s health had been declining since 1842. Poe s friend, R. H. Horne, wrote
of The Raven, the poet intends to represent a very painful condition of mind, as of an imagination that
was liable to topple over into some delirium or an abyss of melancholy, from the continuity of one
unvaried emotion. Poe s life was varied in experience, but, as Horne s letter said of Poe s poetry, static
in outlook, and his life s entire tone is perfectly encapsulated in The Raven. Poe,

Analysis Of Rene Descartes s The Descartes
Rene Descartes was a French mathematician who concurred with Plato and the early scholars about
the significance of reason. Nonetheless, he found that his antecedents regularly settled their thoughts
upon what he took to be a to some degree temperamental and dubious establishment. In this way, he
starts his own venture by perceiving that all that he supposes he knows could be the consequence of
sense involvement, which can mislead us, as when we think the street is wet when it is just a trap of
light or acquired thoughts, which might be valid but additionally have not been confirmed. As such,
Descartes starts his venture with the progressive thought that we may not know anything by any
stretch of the imagination with any sureness. Along these lines, Descartes chooses to strip away the
greater part of his convictions until the main ones that remain are the ones that totally can t be
questioned. Once these center convictions are set up, he reasons that he can manufacture every single
future conviction upon these bedrock bits of learning. To do this stripping endlessly, he utilizes a
progression of progressively solid otherworldly questions. We ll talk about what happens to his quest
for information in no time, yet for the time being, we should investigate the framework he thought of
to manage his request of the Cartesian Method Discourse on Method introduces the four statutes that

Macbeth Play Dinner Scene
On 17 May 2016, the Stratford Festival Theatre in Stratford, Ontario hosted the play Macbeth as
directed by Antoni Cimolino. Act 3 Scene 4 used lighting and a loud thunder crack to seamlessly
transition into dinner scene. Cimolino effectively captured the superstitious meeting between Banquo
s and Duncan s ghosts and Macbeth through spooky background music along with focused
spotlighting on the ghosts and Macbeth. Lady Macbeth s line, What, quite unmann d in folly?
(Shakespeare III.iv.73) and her overall emasculation of Macbeth was preserved in the script; however,
Ian Lake s overly powerful Macbeth drowned out Sarah Afful s portrayal of this theme. The original
play script shows a fearful and submissive Macbeth in this scene, whereas Lake s Macbeth constantly
exerted his dominant presence on the stage. This presence was well complemented by the lighting and
background sound used when Lake spoke to the ghosts, as it allowed for a clear differentiation
between Lake s comments to the ghosts versus his communication with the other men. This scene
conveyed the primary theme of Macbeth s resolve to do what is necessary to keep his throne, ... Show

emotions of both characters. The acoustic properties of the Stratford Festival Theatre boosted the

School Cafeteria Food Essay
Have you ever tasted school cafeteria food? I don t think you would want to. In school story books, do
you have characters saying that the food tasted good at school cafeterias? Nope. Why is this? Cafeteria
food is often cheap, bought in bulk, high in calories, malnutritious, and microwaved. Student polls and
opinions prove this. Therefore, this leads to a suggestion: Healthier, tastier foods and a better,
advanced lunch system should be implemented. First of all, students aren t motivated to eat unhealthy,
not tasty food. If you observed students buying lunch in the cafeteria, you don t often see them buying
these kinds, but not limited to, foodstuffs: burritos (which are just beans wrapped in tortillas), burgers
(meat slapped on two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A simple salad bar and healthier, tastier foods (such as soup, sandwiches, pasta, etc.) would be the key
to flourishing and happy or happier students. On the other hand, you may be thinking, $3.75 $4.75 is
cheap for a school lunch , Who would pay for it? , or If it s good enough for school standards, then it
MUST be healthy . $3.75 $4.75 is not cheap with the economy failing and families having to stretch
their dollars. About a year ago, the lunch was $2.50. If a student bought a $4.75 lunch every day for a
month, about thirty days, the total would be $142.50. Multiply that by twelve months and it is $1,710
a YEAR. Compared to the $900 a year with the $2.50 meal, lunch prices ARE pretty darn expensive.
Secondly, if enhanced foods and lunch system were implemented, some might say it would take a
huge amount of money to actually start the project. However, if tax dollars are enough to pay for
billion dollar roads, then it s enough to start a respectable lunch system. A portion of the tax dollars
could be used instead of it all going to highway and road construction. Finally, the food may fit school
standards, but it may not be such a good choice. Most people eat 2,000 to 2,500 calories a day,
depending on their needs. How healthy could a tortilla with beans, or a piece of meat slapped between
two slices of bread, be? Not to mention the amounts of saturated fat, trans fat, and salt! If you checked

Albert Bandura Created The Social Cognitive Theory, Which
Albert Bandura created the Social Cognitive Theory, which is actions shown or displayed in front of a

children, mostly aggression in younger children. With Bandura s theory we will learn about why it is
so important to demonstrate it in the classroom, the key points of this theory and learn more about
Albert Bandura and how he came up with the theory.

In this experiment it was trial and error since it was influence by consequences that punished or
correct bad behavior (2016). The main concept that we see how children are learning is through
watching adults and peers around them. Observational also has some subcomponents that are listed in
Educational Learning Theories ( pg 22 ) as attention, retention, production, and motivation. Attention
is where the child is actually watching the model and retention is how the child is choosing to
remember what happened with the model, if it was a good or bad interaction and how they will use it
later in life. Production is where children are pulling retention back from their memory and learning
how to use that interaction in real life. An example would be when a child watches an adult sneeze and
then another adult says bless you and then the person who sneezed says thank you, if the child hears a
peer sneeze they will say bless you since they have seen this interaction before and now know how to
interact in this situation. And then motivation is where the child puts into action what they have
learned which would be when they hear a peer sneeze and they say bless you. How the child chooses
to use these key concepts is all dependent on their own personal developmental process.
Impact of Social Cognitive Theory on the Classroom

San Juan Capistrano Windshield Survey
Susan Groh, R.N. and Theresa Laurente, R.N.
Vanguard University
Introduction
A windshield survey of a San Juan Capistrano community in the zip code area of 92675 (see Figure 1,
Appendix) was performed to get a sense of neighborhood characteristics and to assess the area for
opportunities to improve the health of the community (Stanhope Lancaster, 2012). There was a focus
on the Los Rios Street neighborhood (see Figure 2, Appendix) in the central part of the city where a
high number of low income Hispanics/Latinos live (United States Census Bureau [U.S. Census
Bureau], 2012).

San Juan Capistrano has 8 parks plus a new state of the art sports park located in Camino del Avion
next to the Boys and Girls Club, community center and community garden (see Figures 4 7,
Appendix). The most prominent church in the area is Mission San Juan, a major tourist attraction.
Crime rate in 2011 decreased compared to the previous year, from 544 to 504 incidents. Majority of
the crime reported were larceny (San Juan Capistrano, CA, 2012).
Windshield Survey
On Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m., the Los Rios Street neighborhood of San Juan Capistrano was
relatively quiet with some young Hispanic adults waiting at, and walking to a bus stop. Many young
Hispanic children were playing outside in the front yards, sidewalks, and alleys. Middle aged and
older adults were out walking, and several groups of bicyclists (probably not from the neighborhood)
were riding down the main roads. While driving through the streets and alleys, four garage sales were
noted. The appearance of the residential areas varied between neighborhoods, however, most homes
and yards were well maintained. In some of the less affluent neighborhoods there appeared to be more
brown patches and dead grass in the yards, but most properties were in good condition. The streets
were free from trash, and the alleys with garage entrances were the only areas where litter was noted.
Many of the male residents were repairing their cars in the alleys

The Human Resource Management Department Of The Company
When it comes to developing a job analysis and job description of a company the human resource
management department of the company has an impactful position to assess and develop the
organization human capital needs. To have an effective job description, the human resource
management of a company should conduct and effective job analysis, which is the systematic process
of collecting information that identifies similarities and differences in the work (Book). A
manufacturing plant that employs 5oo employs would need a Human Resource Management depart to

Sula by Toni Morrison
Sula by Toni Morrison, is a book about a black female and the various events throughout her life. The
majority of these events were at the fault of Sula, but because of her past she did not know, or could
not understand any better. Sula became the woman that she was because of the people and events that
were around her during her childhood. When Sula was a child, she grew up faster than most children
because of the things that she saw and heard, so it was almost as if she had a loss of childhood. When
Sula was only three years old, her father died. Although this may not have had a direct effect on Sula
because of how young she was, her mother, Hannah, was left without a husband and with an
unquenchable thirst for maleness (Bukisa). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sula s relationship with Nel was another major factor in her maturation into a woman. Sula and Nel
were like each other s support systems (Bukisa). Throughout their childhood, Nel always supported
Sula and vice versa, even though they were extremely different. Nel was conservative and brought up
in a relatively stable home by a proper, lady like, mother, the way their society expected, while Sula
was raised in a home where people constantly came and went, by a mother who slept with different
men on various occasions. These two completely different worlds were what drew these two young
girls to each other (Bukisa). They were opposite in more than just their upbringing. Sula was rougher
and tougher than Nel was, but her emotions were also inconsistent. Nel, on the other hand, was quiet,
and normally had a steady emotion (Bukisa). It was as if these two girls were each one half of the
same whole, making them inseparable. During their childhood, they shared everything, including
boyfriends. All of these factores contributed to Sula s personality and actions as an adult. Sula as an
adult had problems with love, recognizing boundaries, and fitting in. Sula lacked the ability to love
because of her family, mainly her mother. Hearing Hanna say that she loved Sula but did not like her
made Sula believe that love was something that was forced upon

comparing emerson and dickinson Essay
Ralph Waldo Emerson and Emily Dickinson were two of America s most intriguing poets. They were
both drawn to the transcendentalist movement which taught unison of creation, the righteousness of
humanity, and the preeminence of insight over logic and reason (Woodberry 113). This movement also
taught them to reject religious authority (Sherwood 66). By this declination of authority, they were
able to express their individuality. It is through their acceptance of this individuality that will illustrate
their ambiguities in their faith in God.
Emily Dickinson was an intricate and contradictory figure who moved from a reverent faith in God to
a deep suspicion of him in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the first stanza she simply states that just because one can t see or have never seen something doesn
t mean that it can t or doesn t exist. That being said, Dickinson then says that she has not ever spoken
with God or visited heaven in the third pair of lines (Dickinson 1273). The final set of lines says that
she is certain of the spot (Dickinson 1273). This second stanza clearly confirms that she is confident
of her place in heaven. Dickinson believes in all of these things even though she hasn t observed any
of them. (Benfey 25) This particular poem shows of her assurance of God and heaven.
On the contrary, the poem I know That He Exists distinctly shows her uncertainty between her belief
and disbelief in God. (Dickinson 1262) The first stanza begins with a relatively strong declaration of
her faith. She knows that there is a God and that in some way, for whatever reasons, he has hid himself
from our gross eye (Dickinson 1262). In the second stanza, she insinuates that he plays game with us
just to gain our admiration for him. She starts to be troubled by this hide and seek game in the third
stanza. (Ferlazzo 32) She implies, between the middle of the third stanza and all of the fourth that if
there is no sort of deliverance after death, God would have just played a really wicked joke on all of
us.
Emerson, on the other hand, was a minister and pastor

via channels they understand because they are imbedded within that asset. Along those same lines a
liaison can potentially provide a direct military force to solve a problem when it is within their home
country. So instead of just providing intelligence support they could also provide operational support
as long as those lines of communication and understanding are in place. Potentially the most
beneficial advantage to cooperation is that of providing a viable cover to mask U.S. actions or
interests as local ones and concealing otherwise apparent U.S. behavior in foreign countries.
There are also disadvantages to foreign intelligence relationships and liaisons which the United States
must maintain a state of vigilance on (Rosenbach and Peritz, 2009). First the U.S. needs to be aware of
the potential for conflicting interests. Relationships with adversaries could potentially provide them
with sensitive information about interests, strategies, plans, or tactics critical to the U.S. This leads
into hostile collection and the fact that liaisons or foreign partners may attempt to leverage their status
in an effort to gain insight into United States intentions and or sources and methods. So as the U.S. is
collecting in a foreign partner s back yard this could tip them off to sensitive strategies being utilized.
Beyond those disadvantages there is the hurdle that different countries have different standards and
capabilities. An international partner may have less rigorous

The Cause Of The Pleistocene Ice Ages
Global warming is the warmth of Earth s temperature by the sunlight as a main cause. 30 percent of
the sunlight reflected back into space by clouds, and the remaining 70 percent is absorbed by land, air
and ocean. Solar energy does not stay bound up on Earth s environment perpetually. Global warming
is a phenomenon, it has started from the last century. It impacts on Earth and that can lead to climate
change in the world. A lot of scientists have approved that global warming is a fact and have approved
natural changes and they discovered the reason behind that is global warming. Understanding the
cause of the Pleistocene ice ages has been a significant question in climate dynamics since they were
discovered in the mid nineteenth century. The identification of orbital frequencies in the marine
record, a proxy for global ice volume, in the 1970s demonstrated that glacial cycle are ultimately
paced by astronomical forcing (Jeremy. D. 1). Therefore, we should save our planet by preventing
global warming from happening. Global warmth starts with sunlight. The earth tries to absorb the
largest amount of sunshine. Temperatures are certain to go up further. But why should we worry about
a seemingly small increase in temperature? It turns out that the global average temperature is quite
stable over long periods of time, and small changes in that temperature correspond to enormous
changes in the environment (Riebeek. 2). This phenomenon has led to an unprecedented rise in

Aeschylus The Oresteia
The Oresteia The Oresteia is a trilogy of Greek tragedies written by Aeschylus. This trilogy consists of
Agamemnon, The Libation Bearers or The Choephoroe, and The Eumenides. The only extant example
of an ancient Greek theatre trilogy, the Oresteia won first prize at the Dionysia festival in 458 BC.
Many consider the Oresteia to be Aeschylus finest work. The principal themes of the trilogy include
the contrast between revenge and justice, as well as the transition from personal vendetta to organized
litigation. In this trilogy there are multiple themes carried through all three plays. Other themes can be
found and in one, or two, of the three plays, but are not applicable to the Trilogy as a whole and thus

The play starts off at the temple of Apollo at Delphi, the home of the famous Oracle of Delphi. Orestes
find himself there for temporary shelter from the Furies that have been torturing him ever since the
murder of his mother. Orestes pleads the gods for help against the Furies. Apollo cannot help him, but
with a sleeping curse he slows down the Furies and their evil works against Orestes for a little while.
As the Furies surround Orestes again, he begs Athena to save him. This leads to the trial of Orestes. As
a result of the trial, Orestes leaves to go home to Argos and the Furies have their name switched to
The Eumenides, or Kindly Ones, and ruling that they will now be honoured by the citizens of Athens.
By the end of the trilogy, Orestes is seen to be the key, not only to ending the curse of the House of
Atreus, but also in laying the foundation for a new step in the progress of

Rhetorical Analysis On Make America Great Again
There is no one reason that can explain President Donald J. Trump s controversial, but enduring
appeal; however, the combination of charisma and a powerful message (i.e. Make America Great
Again ) were some of the greatest contributors to the success of his 2016 Presidential campaign.
Donald Trump s bold and non politically correct approach to politics, along with his charismatic
personality appealed to many Americans, and his campaign slogan of Make America Great Again,
made many American s feel nostalgic, because it allowed them to attach their own individual
perception of when they felt America was at its greatest.

what better way to do so than doing something unexpected and/or outrageous. For President Trump,
any press is good press, which means to him there s no such thing as bad press; therefore, unexpected
and outrageous are part of his charismatic persona that many people seem to flock to.
President Trump s charisma is a key reason for why he has been so effective in capturing the focus of
Millions in the United States and even Billions worldwide. President Trump is always changing. Just
when people think they ve begun to understand him (i.e. what he might say or do), he often does
something to prove their assumption wrong. During the election, whenever the media attention would
start to deviate from Donald Trump, some sort of a new controversy would suddenly arise, (e.g. like
with his plan for a temporary travel ban from countries that were predominantly Muslim, dubbed the
Muslim Ban ), which directed the media right back onto himself. Whether intentional or not, President
Trump s controversies essentially drowned out his competition during the election, detracting all the
attention from his more experienced political

Factors That Affect Our Everyday Lives
We make important decisions that affect our everyday lives. Every decision we make has a
consequence. When I make a decision, I choose to think long and hard about that choice because I
know how much a bad decision can affect me negatively. Looking back, there are multiple decisions
that occurred that I either regretted or approved. The three most important decisions I have made was
when I decided to go to Carlsbad High instead of Sage Creek High, going all out in my first year in
football, and helping my friend with depression.
One decision that I made in my life that affects me greatly is when I chose to go to Carlsbad instead of
Sage Creek. When I was in the middle of deciding, I listed the pros and cons if I went to either school.
One example about the pros of going to Carlsbad High is they have a football team, my older sister
already goes to Carlsbad High, the people that go to Carlsbad are typically more laid back/relaxed and
so on. Some pros I thought of for Sage creek was my favorite basketball coach of all time was
coaching the varsity basketball team, some of my close friends were already going to Sage Creek
High, and the School is nicer than Carlsbad High. I thought long and hard about the decision, but
when I chose to go to Carlsbad I had a feeling I made the right decision. If I chose to go to Sage Creek
I probably would not have as good of grades, because of the trimester system. Also, I probably would
have made the Junior Varsity team on Sage Creek, because

The purpose of the New Democracy strategy was meant to spur China s political and economic

The land redistribution program for the peasants was positively accepted such that Mao believed that
the next step, the Great Leap Forward, would also be successful. Unfortunately, the program failed
because the rural collectives did not accomplish the economic and administrative tasks assigned to
them. Instead, the program was established in the wrong moment due to bad weather, which
contributed to the downward trend of food production. Furthermore, many peasants resisted the efforts
to work, thus it also contributed to millions of people dying from starvation in the next several years.
3. Was the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution evidence of Communism s strength or its weakness?
Explain.
The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution was an evidence of Communism s strength because a vast
majority of the economic and educational reforms were carried out successfully. By introducing a new
school system and eradicating profit incentives, it enabled Mao to spread its communism ideologies
into practice in China. For instance, instead of teaching children science and humanities, Mao
encouraged schools to teach what s more important, the Little Red Book, which were Mao s maxim
regarding revolutionary passion and good behavior. Moreover, thoughts, culture, habits, and culture
from the past that did not belong with Mao s communism ideologies were also eliminated. In other

The Transatlantic Slave Trade Between West Africa And...
Despite the limitations imposed by slavery, Africans and their descendants made substantial
contributions to American culture in agriculture, cuisine, food culture and language. As for Cultural
integration, such actions occurred during the transatlantic slave trade between West Africans and
Central Africans and the European Americans was a forced interaction that cannot be reversed. The
transatlantic slave trade in 1889, established a permanent link between Africa and North America as
Africans sold into slavery transplanted their cultures to the New World. Many assume that because
Africans integrated into American society, they completely assimilated into that culture, but such
assumptions are false. It is imperative to note that integration does not necessitate a total abandonment
of one s culture or complete assimilation into a different culture, but rather, integration embraces
modification of one s culture along with adoption of the practices of the new culture of which one is
integrating into. The African slaves integrated many things and ideas from their cultures, such as food
culture, agricultural style, and language like I spoke about earlier.
One important contribution I reflect on is the power and significance of language. Language can be
defined as the methods of communication, either spoken or written. This is how the cultural
interaction comes into play. In James Baldwin If Black English Isn t a Language, Then Tell Me, What
Is? he implies that different

Abstinence only Sex Education does work.
Teenage sexual activity has sparked an outcry within the nation. With such activity comes a high
price. Studies have shown that there has been a significant rise in the number of children with sexually
transmitted diseases (STDs), emotional and psychological problems, and out of wedlock childbearing.
Sex has always been discussed publically by the media, television shows, music and occasionally by
parents and teachers in educational context. Teens hear them, and as the saying goes, monkey see,
monkey do , they are tempted to experiment with it. Therefore, it is important for every teenager to be
aware of the outcome associated with premature sex. If students are educated about the impact of ...

Programs that encourage abstinence have become a vital part of school systems in the US. These
programs are usually referred to as abstinence only or value based programs while other programs are
called as safer sex, comprehensive, secular or abstinence plus programs which on the contrary
promote the usage of effective contraception. Although abstinence only and safer sex programs
disagree with one another, their core values and stand on the aims of sex education is to help teens
develop problem solving skills and the skill of good decision making. They believe that adolescents
will be better prepared to act responsibly in the heat of the moment (Silva). Most programs that have
been currently implemented in the US have seen a delay in the initiation of sex among teens which
proves to be a positive and desirable outcome (Silva).
Statistics from recent studies suggest that only 13% of U.S. teens have ever had sex by the age of 15.
But by the age of 19, seven in ten teens of both sexes have had sex. Between 1995 and 2006 2008, the
percentage of teens aged 15 17 who had ever engaged in sexual intercourse declined from 38% to
28%. Among teens aged 18 19, it declined from 68% in 1995 to 60% in 2006 2008. The pregnancy
rate among young women has declined steadily from 117 pregnancies per 1,000 women aged 15 19 in

  • 2. Pathos In Nick Naylor Evaluation Nick Naylor is a lobbyist for cigarettes. He battles everyone who is anti cigarette. Mr. Naylor runs into trouble in many different ways for defending the rights of smokers. Along the way, Nick twists some words and becomes the hot topic on TV and in Hollywood. Nick defends against many things thrown at him. Things such as a cancer boy, the Marlboro man and even the loss of his job. Nick Naylor is effective and persuasive in argumentation. Mr. Naylor does a great job displaying ethos, logos, and pathos. Each one of these appeals are important in the use of argumentation. Mr. Naylor is also effective with fallacies, and even though what he is saying might not be true, it is effective. At the beginning of the movie, Nick Naylor uses pathos. In the movie the anti tobacco people tried to make Nick Naylor the bad guy. They brought out a boy that had cancer and tried to make him look bad. Pathos specifically is trying to draw the emotion sympathy out of the audience. The audience was then given an option on who to blame. The person they chose was Nick. Effectively, Nick Naylor diverted the negative press away from him and toward the senator s assistant. Even though Nick was being bashed by these people he maintained his stance. One thing I noticed about Nick is that he always presents himself with a smile and with a positive message. He effectively uses pathos by using positive vibes and then drawing them out from the audience. Also at the beginning of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Western World Monarchy In Chapter 12 of The Rise of the Western World, the monarchy was checked by the Parliament which eventually led to efficient property rights and economic development. Major reason power of the monarchy was reduced was out of fear that the crown would infringe on property rights; once the monarchy was checked property rights were deemed to be protected by Common Law. England, similar to France and Spain, had an unchecked executive that attempted to infringe on property rights. They were solely concerned with identifying new sources of revenue regardless of the impact on the economy as a whole. The monarchy in England confiscated church lands and allowed special grants and privileges and collected number of fees to increase the revenue flow (146). ... In addition to advocating the supremacy of the common law he also strived to end the monopolistic privileges endowed by the crown. The Glorious Revolution ensured that England would have a constitutional monarchy in which Parliament had the majority of the power and after the Restoration, Parliament became dominant (149). • 4. Society, Gender Roles and Gender-Conflict Essay example Society, Gender Roles and Gender Conflict Time and time again gender conflict is brought to the attention of the public in various forms. In our time someone who wants to make a point about gender conflict and the inequality that is present will be more likely to use television or song to reach their audience. This however is a fairly new technology. Books or some form of writing on the other hand have been around for thousands of years. Gender conflict is nothing new. It is not as though one day it just came out of no where. It has been around since the dawn of time. What is a man s place and what is a woman s place in society or is there really a specific place at all; further more are we even really that different to begin with? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Joan is able to provide the reader with a vivid description of the anxieties and ordeals of being a female throughout childhood and adolescence. She starts out with the simple desire to love and be loved, to find acceptance. These desires are not gender specific, as both males and females strive to be love and be loved and find acceptance. The difference is how women and men actually find these. Due to constant victimization by others a pattern of outsiders becomes Joan s guard and vengeance. Joan s early misery and resentment causes her to see life as her enemy. Because Joan is made to feel as though she is an object, as many women in her time as well as our own feel too, Joan learns to use idealization as a weapon that will reach her emotionally unreachable mother: Joan claims to defy every effort to make her reduce out of a fear of assimilation and loss of autonomy: I wasn t going to let myself be diminished, neutralized. I wouldn t ever let her make me over in her image, thin and beautiful (Atwood, 85 6). This in her mind would be surcoming to the gender stereotype that woman not only should fit into, but had to fit into. It was her own way of rebelling against what a woman should be and being herself. Whether this was the correct way to go about it, her reasons were her reasons and that is what is important to her. Unfortunately this only caused a vicious circle. The more she rebelled against the gender norm for her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Deception In The Scarlet Letter Reality is easy. Deception that s the hard the hard work Lauryn Hill. In the novel the Scarlet Letter, Nathaniel Hawthorne uses literary elements such as symbolism, irony and conflict to show deception and secrecy can lead to self destruction. This relates to the Scarlet Letter because in the book the protagonist character commits an act of sin that was more than just frowned upon. Not only does the community gossip and turn their cheek to the sinner but a sickness comes along from keeping a secret from the community. Throughout the book many symbols were shown, the main symbol being the Scarlet Letter forced upon Hester Prynne for committing adultery. When the scarlet letter was forced onto Hester Prynne the community thought she deserved more than just having to wear a cloth on her. Though she tried to hide the gold embroidered A, the community began gossiping loudly and even said that she deserved to be stoned. Hester Prynne kept her adultery a secret and in the end the sin back fired and hurt her more than she expected it to. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 6. Do Males and Females Communicate with Each Other in... Do Males and Females Communicate with each other in different ways? I do not give you the right to raise your voice to me because you are woman and I am man (Tannen p 23) This statement is offensive to both men and women alike. Yet it is a true, telling statement as well. This one sentence shows us that in many countries, including the U.S., a patriarchal society creates a hierarchal push and pull between the genders, creating a very large gap in communication. This assertion also brings up some important questions: Are males and females merely people with different sexual organs? Or is it how we are raised which makes us communicate differently? Does mass media attribute to societal inequalities? Or is our culture to blame for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Men often have larger salaries than women. In 2001, the median earnings of women full time were $29,215, whereas men working full time earned $38,275. How can men and women communicate in the same way, when gender roles are completely different? Sexism is also a large issue for many women in the workplace. Most companies have strict sexual harassment policies in effect, yet the abuse of women is still widespread. • 7. Howard County Flood Analysis Flooding is one of the many risks that people and their private properties assume when they consider living in a specific geographic location. This is true for the residents of Howard County, as they live near the Chesapeake Bay, whose tributaries branch off into smaller rivers, streams and lakes. Due to the fact that Howard County is more developed in the southeast and more rural in the west, there is a correlation between the risk of flooding and the presence of human development. (any cite here?) Natural factors play an integral role in determining the probability of flooding in a particular section of the county as well. Moreover, the Howard County government has several restrictions and permit requirements that prevent or at least make it more difficult for people to establish (build?) their private properties in flood prone areas. For instance, Howard County has restrictions that a resident s private property has to be within the County regulated 100 year floodplain delineated for smaller drainage areas (Howard County website). (check on the accuracy of the previous quote) In addition, residents must consult with county officials prior to altering the exterior of their house in any way to ensure that the project is in compliance with any floodplain restrictions (Anderson, Baltimore Sun). • 8. Spider-Man As A Spider Man Honestly, if it was not for my brother, Hunter, I would not be here right now. He has been there to save me, many, many time in my life. As a kid, I never thought of it as that, but now that I am thinking about it as an older individual, I actually realize that I could be dead. There is something about me that you should know before I continue this memoir, from the time I was three until the time I was about seven, I had this unnecessary obsession with Spider Man. I would make people call me Peter Parker, and if they didn t I would get mad at them. I would even answer the telephone and say, Hello this is Peter Parker, but don t tell anyone I am Spider Man. I would always ask for more Spider Man toys, clothing, and blankets. I even had a full Spider Man suit at one point. The day before my fourth birthday, I was up in my room playing Spider Man on top of my bed. Hunter wasn t playing with me, he was just in my room with me. I was trying to figure a way to swing across my bed by flying like Spider Man. I found my window blinds string, saw that it was white, and looked like Spider Man s webs. I couldn t figure out how to tie it on one of my wrists, so I thought that it would be a good idea to tie it around my neck. At this age, I didn t know the possibilities of what I was doing. After I tied the strings, I stared on one side of my bed and sprinted to the other side of my bed and jumped. The next thing I knew, I wasn t able to breath, I felt this sharp pain in my neck, ... It can also lead to depression. Fibromyalgia has been compared to other disorders such as bursitis and tendinitis. The similarities in signs and symptoms make it a little difficult to diagnose. Women are most likely to be diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. It is still unknown as to why Fibromyalgia is more common in women. However, men and children are still susceptible to the disorder. The cause for Fibromyalgia is relatively unknown. However, there are indicators that my lead medical professionals to believe that certain factors can lead to Fibromyalgia. Researchers are currently undergoing tests to determine whether or not a person is predisposed with a gene that may cause Fibromyalgia. Diagnosing Fibromyalgia in patients is based strictly on the amount of pain felt by the patient. Treatment of Fibromyalgia can be difficult due to the small number of doctors who have knowledge of the condition. It is important to seek medical help from providers who have extensive knowledge of Fibromyalgia such as rheumatologist. Fibromyalgia Fibromyalgia is a chronic disease that causes widespread pain. Discipline is important in all situations by everyone young old. Discipline can vary from keeping yourself from eating the last piece of pizza or killing someone. Without discipline, the world would be more chaotic than what it is now. Jim Rohn said once Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment. Analysis Of Faith And Doubt At Ground Zero In the documentary Faith and Doubt at Ground Zero, a number of people were interviewed about how their religious beliefs or non beliefs, were challenged since the events of September 11th. The interviews with priests, rabbis, family members of victims, survivors, lay people, atheists and agnostics, this documentary explores how Americans spiritual lives may have changed since the event. When a tragic event happens, people would either grow closer to god or outgrow god. To those people who do not believe in a god, these actions will just prove their beliefs. In the beginning of the film, people immediately started to question God. Some of them started to question why would a god so mighty approve this kind of actions. Dr. Michael Brescia, who is a physician who saw pictures of people jumping off the building, I wonder how many of them thought if there was a God. And if there was a God, why me? Why this? And where am I going to go? This kind of questions always come up when something catastrophic happens. Others, however, did not ask any questions and just accepted what has happened. Kim Coleman, who lost her daughter said, God knows something I don t, God knows best and knows better than we do. There were also a couple of people who were not so sure what to think of god anymore. Fundamental attributes of these structures are: the tick size, which is the payout amount per unit in the index beyond the strike; the strike, which is the value of the underlying index when the contract starts to pay out; and the limit, which is the contract s maximum financial payout. v. Premium . The buyer of a weather option pays a premium to the seller that is typically between 10% and 20% of the notional amount of the contract. Within the larger category of exotic weather derivatives, there are a number of sub categories that are utilized by companies who work in various markets. Unsurprisingly, the large companies who use weather derivatives are those whose businesses are widely affected by the weather on a day to day basis. Therefore, many weather derivative contracts are based on temperature, rainfall, and snowfall. Demand for sophisticated and flexible OTC products involving these three variables are growing far more quickly than standardized, exchange traded contracts. And there are new ideas and experimental weather derivatives buzzing about the markets, including contracts based on sunshine and even wind patterns. Although today energy companies are the biggest users of these trades, there is growing awareness and signs of potential growth in the trading of weather futures among agricultural firms, renewables, mining, retail, construction companies, restaurants, and even companies involved in tourism and travel, like hotels and airlines. Literature Review On Seasickness Chapter 2 LITERATURE REVIEW 2.0 Introduction Seasickness is a terminology describing an illness that caused by an effect of motion, experienced by an individual particularly at sea. Seasickness can be a serious problem for sailors. Not only does the sick person feel terrible and become incapacitated, and therefore a problem too for others on a shorthanded boat, but the dehydration that may result from repeated vomiting can become a medical issue. About 90% of people will experience seasickness or motion sickness at some point in their lives. If you re new to sailing, or have ever experienced nausea or dizziness on a boat, it s worthwhile to take steps early to prevent seasickness. Once seasickness occurs, it s too late to do much more than cope with it as best you can. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The early 20th century development of air ships must have been a wonderful relief to the few wealthy enough to travel in them. A detailed account by George Grant, a passenger on the ill fated Hindenburg, stated that the movement of the Airship hardly varies. An occasional slight roll is therefore hardly perceptible. Poe s The Raven Essay Raven During a cold, dark evening in December, a man is attempting to find some solace from the remembrance of his lost love, Lenore, by reading volumes of forgotten lore. As he is nearly overcome by slumber, a knock comes at his door. Having first believed the knock to be only a result of his dreaming, he finally opens the door apologetically, but is greeted only by darkness. A thrill of half wonder, half fear overcomes the speaker, and as he peers into the deep darkness, he can only say the word Lenore. Upon closing the door, another knock is immediately heard from the chamber s window. The narrator throws open the shutter and window, and in steps a large, beautiful raven, which immediately posts itself on the bust of Pallas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Again, the word nevermore is the only answer. Shouting maniacally now, demanding that the bird take its leave, the narrator attempts to dispatch the bird back to the Plutonian shore of Hell from whence it came. The bird, the emblem of Mournful and Never ending Remembrance, replies again nevermore, and sits there on the bust of Pallas to this day, ever a torment to the speaker s soul, and a reminder of his lost love. Importance of the Work: The Raven is without a doubt the work for which Poe is best known. Through this poem, Poe has taken his favorite theme, that of the untimely death of a beautiful woman, and made that theme universally understandable and fascinating, earning himself literary immortality in the process. There is no doubt that The Raven takes direct influence from Poe s life experiences. Poe was a moody bookworm, and Virginia Poe s health had been declining since 1842. Poe s friend, R. H. Horne, wrote of The Raven, the poet intends to represent a very painful condition of mind, as of an imagination that was liable to topple over into some delirium or an abyss of melancholy, from the continuity of one unvaried emotion. Poe s life was varied in experience, but, as Horne s letter said of Poe s poetry, static in outlook, and his life s entire tone is perfectly encapsulated in The Raven. Poe, ... Nonetheless, he found that his antecedents regularly settled their thoughts upon what he took to be a to some degree temperamental and dubious establishment. In this way, he starts his own venture by perceiving that all that he supposes he knows could be the consequence of sense involvement, which can mislead us, as when we think the street is wet when it is just a trap of light or acquired thoughts, which might be valid but additionally have not been confirmed. As such, Descartes starts his venture with the progressive thought that we may not know anything by any stretch of the imagination with any sureness. Along these lines, Descartes chooses to strip away the greater part of his convictions until the main ones that remain are the ones that totally can t be questioned. Once these center convictions are set up, he reasons that he can manufacture every single future conviction upon these bedrock bits of learning. To do this stripping endlessly, he utilizes a progression of progressively solid otherworldly questions. Act 3 Scene 4 used lighting and a loud thunder crack to seamlessly transition into dinner scene. Cimolino effectively captured the superstitious meeting between Banquo s and Duncan s ghosts and Macbeth through spooky background music along with focused spotlighting on the ghosts and Macbeth. Lady Macbeth s line, What, quite unmann d in folly? The original play script shows a fearful and submissive Macbeth in this scene, whereas Lake s Macbeth constantly exerted his dominant presence on the stage. This presence was well complemented by the lighting and background sound used when Lake spoke to the ghosts, as it allowed for a clear differentiation between Lake s comments to the ghosts versus his communication with the other men. In school story books, do you have characters saying that the food tasted good at school cafeterias? Nope. Why is this? Cafeteria food is often cheap, bought in bulk, high in calories, malnutritious, and microwaved. Student polls and opinions prove this. Therefore, this leads to a suggestion: Healthier, tastier foods and a better, advanced lunch system should be implemented. First of all, students aren t motivated to eat unhealthy, not tasty food. About a year ago, the lunch was $2.50. If a student bought a $4.75 lunch every day for a month, about thirty days, the total would be $142.50. Multiply that by twelve months and it is $1,710 a YEAR. Compared to the $900 a year with the $2.50 meal, lunch prices ARE pretty darn expensive. Secondly, if enhanced foods and lunch system were implemented, some might say it would take a huge amount of money to actually start the project. However, if tax dollars are enough to pay for billion dollar roads, then it s enough to start a respectable lunch system. A portion of the tax dollars could be used instead of it all going to highway and road construction. Finally, the food may fit school standards, but it may not be such a good choice. Most people eat 2,000 to 2,500 calories a day, depending on their needs. How healthy could a tortilla with beans, or a piece of meat slapped between two slices of bread, be? Attention is where the child is actually watching the model and retention is how the child is choosing to remember what happened with the model, if it was a good or bad interaction and how they will use it later in life. Production is where children are pulling retention back from their memory and learning how to use that interaction in real life. An example would be when a child watches an adult sneeze and then another adult says bless you and then the person who sneezed says thank you, if the child hears a peer sneeze they will say bless you since they have seen this interaction before and now know how to interact in this situation. And then motivation is where the child puts into action what they have learned which would be when they hear a peer sneeze and they say bless you. How the child chooses to use these key concepts is all dependent on their own personal developmental process. This movement also taught them to reject religious authority (Sherwood 66). By this declination of authority, they were able to express their individuality. Along those same lines a liaison can potentially provide a direct military force to solve a problem when it is within their home country. So instead of just providing intelligence support they could also provide operational support as long as those lines of communication and understanding are in place. Potentially the most beneficial advantage to cooperation is that of providing a viable cover to mask U.S. actions or interests as local ones and concealing otherwise apparent U.S. behavior in foreign countries. There are also disadvantages to foreign intelligence relationships and liaisons which the United States must maintain a state of vigilance on (Rosenbach and Peritz, 2009). First the U.S. needs to be aware of the potential for conflicting interests. Relationships with adversaries could potentially provide them with sensitive information about interests, strategies, plans, or tactics critical to the U.S. This leads into hostile collection and the fact that liaisons or foreign partners may attempt to leverage their status in an effort to gain insight into United States intentions and or sources and methods. It impacts on Earth and that can lead to climate change in the world. A lot of scientists have approved that global warming is a fact and have approved natural changes and they discovered the reason behind that is global warming. Understanding the cause of the Pleistocene ice ages has been a significant question in climate dynamics since they were discovered in the mid nineteenth century. The identification of orbital frequencies in the marine record, a proxy for global ice volume, in the 1970s demonstrated that glacial cycle are ultimately paced by astronomical forcing (Jeremy. D. 1). Therefore, we should save our planet by preventing global warming from happening. Global warmth starts with sunlight. The earth tries to absorb the largest amount of sunshine. Temperatures are certain to go up further. But why should we worry about a seemingly small increase in temperature? It turns out that the global average temperature is quite stable over long periods of time, and small changes in that temperature correspond to enormous changes in the environment (Riebeek. 2).
