Observation Of Migrant Mother
Make observations:
The migrant mother is in the foreground of the image, while her children are in the background of the
image. The migrant mother is the major element in this image, while the children are the minor
elements are the children. The mother is staring out in the distance, and appears to have a concerned
expression on her face. She is worried, and her clothes are ragged. There are three children in this
image: two of them near her shoulders, and another in her lap. It appears that the child in her lap is an
infant, and was born somewhat recently.
Connect the observations:
In 1936, the Dust Bowl was occurring in the United States. The Dust Bowl was a series of dust storms
that destroyed lives, and forced many citizens in the Midwest to relocate to California. According to
Lange, this image was taken in California. It is possible that the mother and her children have been
displaced from their homes, and are escaping to California looking for work. However, finding work
in California was often a fruitless effort. There was typically little to no work for migrants, which
could be a source of stress for the migrant mother. She has three children, but she is most likely unable
to feed them. This is further supported by the state of her clothes and her children s clothes. They are
tattered, which indicates there is not enough money to buy new clothes.
Draw inferences from the related observations:
A possible interpretation of this situation is that the woman has recently migrated from the Midwest,
and is struggling to provide for her family. She is in a difficult situation, because she loves her
children but is unable to provide them with an ideal lifestyle. Their faces are covered in dust, and the
mother is wearing an expression of hopelessness. The tone of this image is one of hopelessness, the
underlying emotion common in almost all the Okies at the time. The hardships have worn the migrant
mother down, and she is struggling to survive with her three children. There are no other family
members present in the image, suggesting that she is the sole provider and sole source of income for
her family.
Form a tentative interpretative conclusion:
By depicting the facial expression of the woman and her

Effects Of The Silver Bow Creek Copper
Copper is another pollutant that at very high levels is toxic and can cause vomiting, diarrhea, loss of
strength or, for serious exposure, cirrhosis of the liver (Pure Water Services). In order for copper to
metabolized the heavy metal zinc is needed. Zinc helps with copper breakdown but too much zinc can
cause a copper deficiency which can also cause problems such as anemia. While copper has some
severe side effects there have not been any cases that are related to cancer. In most cases throughout
the Silver Bow Creek copper is not thought to be a severe threat to the community.
Mercury is another toxic pollutant that may be found in the tailings and in the surface and ground
water supplies of the Silver Bow Creek area. While mercury is ... Show more content on

As people began to realize the damage done by the pollution of the environment nearly fifty years had
passed. By this time the contaminated tailings and toxins released from the smelters and chemical
treatment facilities had reached an outrageous numbers. With the help of the great flood of 1908 these
pollutants covered the Silver Bow creek banks from Butte all the way to the Milltown Dam. In 1911
the Anaconda Company began extensive cleanup efforts by implementing the use of warm springs
ponds as a water treatment facility (Citizens Technical Environmental Committee, 4). These ponds
were developed initially with the thought that they would be able to catch polluted tailings before they
were able to reach the Clark Fork River. There was an estimated 2,400 acres of warm springs ponds
built between the years of 1911 and 1959 (Citizens Technical Environmental Committee, 4). The
settling ponds were created to hold the mining wastes, acting as a dam so that the metals did not end
up in the Clark Fork River. The tailings are then covered over with lime to prevent them from leeching
back into the environment. This series of warm springs ponds provides treatment to the water in such
a way that the environment can cleanse the water of pollutants on its own instead. This treatment
method is accomplished with the water being further cleansed as it is transferred from pond to pond.

The Importance Of Being A Physical Therapist
1. A couple of years ago, I have decided that being a physical therapist was what I wanted to do for my
profession in the future. The reason why is that when I see people hurt around town it makes me want
to put what I am doing down and go over there and help them.I have always wanted to find a way to
help out the community and I figured becoming a physical therapist what right for me. I have always
wanted to become one but I never could decide when I was younger. My mom told me that I could
become if I just put my mind to it and never give up. She could tell that being one was what I wanted
to do. That is when it hit me, I wanted to become a physical therapist.

every healthcare segment will have a job growth. (Jobs.net). There is a strategy for this and it s by

therapists work normal business hours, 8 a.m. 5 p.m., but also some may work in the evenings or even
on the weekends. I would prefer the normal business hours and some hours on the weekend just
because if someone had missed their appointment during the week and they cannot make it up, they
can come on the weekend.

How White Tailed Deer Affect Native And Invasive Plant...
How White tailed Deer Effect Native and Invasive Plant Species Populations in the Eastern United
States.
Introduction
Whitetail deer have come to be known as a keystone species, species known for affecting other
organisms in an ecosystem. Deer are known as a keystone species in forest habitats such as in the
Eastern United States because they are capable of destroying potential forest habitat of other
organisms (McShea and Rappole, 1992). For example, deer have a negative impact on forest
ecosystems by trampling and over browsing over vegetation, without creating any habitat for other
native species. Throughout the eastern United States, the abundance of white tailed deer (Odocoileus
virginianus) has increased dramatically over the last century (Taggart and Long, 2015). Population
increases could be due to increased habitat fragmentation from land development, reduced predators
and/or hunting pressure. Individual deer ranges varied during seasonal times, deer movements are
usually greatest during the peak breeding months from late fall through winter (Williams et. al, 2012).
Regardless of the cause, high deer densities can have significant effects on plant communities such as
plant decay and/or even death. Deer consume a large amounts of plant biomass (leaves, buds, flowers
and fruits) and directly reduce the growth, reproduction, and survival of herbaceous and woody plant
species (Shen et. al, 2016). The impacts of white tailed deer on forests along the Eastern United

Antipsychotic Diseases
The antipsychotic medications are recommended as pharmacological interventions to treat psychotic
episode in psychosis and schizophrenia (NICE 2014). They may be classified as atypical and typical
antipsychotics (Meltzer 2013). The atypical drugs refer to as the newer generation of antipsychotics
which may have less extrapyramidal side effects (EPS) compared to the typical antipsychotics, also
known as the first generation of antipsychotics (Meltzer 2013). Both types of antipsychotic drugs are
utilised therapeutically to manage positive, negative, and other symptoms of psychosis and

severe EPS (Divac et al. 2014). Strong evidence suggests that haloperidol can cause increased EPS
such as akathisia, parkinsonism, and dyskinesia compared with the atypical antipsychotic drugs (Kahn
et al. 2008). Prolonged treatment with the typical antipsychotics could also lead to late onset of EPS,
which has a higher incident rate of tardive dyskinesia, characterised by involuntary and repetitive
facial movements (Divac et al. 2014). In addition, typical antipsychotics have been linked to elevated
prolactin, causing galactorrhea and amenorrhea, which the atypical antipsychotics are free from
(Hasan et al. 2012). Some typical and atypical antipsychotic drugs could cause impaired glucose
tolerance, insulin resistance, hyperlipidemia and weight gain, which increases the risk of type 2
diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular diseases (Meltzer 2013). Both classes of antipsychotic drugs
could cause neuroleptic malignant syndrome, epileptic seizures, sexual dysfunctions, leukopenia and

Foreshadowing In Bible
All things considered, God always had in mind one plan for salvation. Since, the promise made to
Adam and Eve in Genesis 3:15 were He says, And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and
between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel the devil had
tried to deceive us with the biggest lie, that there are many ways to come to God. As a result, most
religions view God as a being that modifies according to peoples standards, peoples view point,
peoples believe, and their own interpretation of the Bible. However, that is not how God runs the
universe. In fact, the main reason for God to establish the temple among the Jews was in order to serve

Another key point, is that every sacrifice ceremony was providing just a temporary covering of once
sin, and could never take it away forever. On the other hand, the foreshadowing of the perfect Lamb,
would come to remove sin forever. That is what the temple represented, that there is one way to
heaven, the lamb slain, Jesus Christ. Now, the time has come to have faith in Jesus Christ for salvation
of our souls. The temple is no longer needed. In effect, no longer we need to wait for the foreshadow
of Jesus Christ, we no longer need to slain a sheep to cover our sins, we no longer need to seek God
on an altar, as he dwells within us through the Holy Spirit. God has never given us a spirit of fear,
rather a spirit of faith in Jesus Christ. Under those circumstances, when Jesus declared, I am the way,
is the reason why Jews hated Him. As a result, they were intolerance with Him and Christians, until
this day. The Bible speaks of Jesus Christ becoming the stumbling rock for the Jews by not accepting
his vicarious death. In fact, the incredible thing about Jesus is that He is the way, the truth and the life

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) are both known for
targeting athletes at a much younger age than the average person. ALS and CTE are similar due to the
fact that they are a progressive degenerative disease. Both diseases are linked with head trauma and
the loss of movement within the human body. ALS is also known as Lou Gehrigs disease; he brought

Essay On Klu Klux Klan
 Intro Extreme deviance is behavior, beliefs, or physical traits that are serious enough to cast
violators outside of the conventional society. The Klu Klux Klan is one of the most well known
deviant white supremacy groups throughout the world. The Klan promoted their white supremacy
ideas by participating in violent acts of lynching and burning crosses. They retreated into macho KKK
attacks, scourging the homes and churches with their destruction, trying to browbeat the blacks into
submission with violent outbursts and threats. However, the K.K.K. s main goal was to weaken the
reconstruction governments and retain power for the southerners who had been in confederacy. 
Norms The KKK murderers were deviant, at least according to northern white standards, but they
were the norm according to fearful southern thinking at that time. These were white men who were
hanging on a thread, afraid of true equality of the races for economic and deeply psychological and
sociological reasons. Merton s strain theory supports that disorder is sometimes an aspect of progress,
that the deviance brings attention to something that is happening within a particular context. The
whites did not murder the three individuals for the fun of it. They killed them to stop or try to stop the

stating that anyone who was caught associating with blacks had reason to fear the KKK. However, the
KKK attitudes towards liberals suggested that they wanted to advocate individual rights and use their

Managing Brand Equity
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to discuss and elaborate the main issues encountered in managing brand
equity. In order to achieve this purpose, we first analyse the concept of brand equity; second, we
provide a comprehensive framework for managing brand equity; and finally, we distinguish different
ways to leverage and measure brand equity. The concept of brand equity emerged in the early 1990s.
Brand equity can be regarded as a managerial concept, as a financial intangible asset, as a relationship
concept or as a customer based concept from the perspective of the individual consumer. The main
asset dimensions of brand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

man pointed a gun at the boy, the boy shot the man. Who knows what could have happened if this boy

the law abiding citizen has no choice other than to disarm or become an outlaw, but people with bad

Less than one percent of licensed firearm holders have had their permits revoked due to
misdemeanors. So, what happens when the bad man with the gun is right there and the military, the
police, and the President s Secret Service aren t on the scene? Then having a gun may be the
difference between living or dying, between being raped or being okay, between saving your children
or watching them die.
The debate over gun control in the United States has waxed and waned over the years, stirred by a
series of mass killings by gunmen in civilian settings. In particular, the killing of twenty
schoolchildren in Newtown, Connecticut, in December 2012 fueled a national discussion over gun
laws and calls by the Obama administration to limit the availability of military style weapons.
However, compromise legislation that would have banned semiautomatic assault weapons and
expanded background checks was defeated in the Senate in 2013, despite extensive public support.
Gun control advocates sought to rekindle the debate following the shooting deaths of nine people at a
South Carolina church in June 2015. These advocates highlight the stricter gun laws and lower
incidents of gun violence in several other democracies, like Japan and Australia, but many others say
this correlation proves little. It is a fact that countries with the strictest gun control laws also tend to
have the highest homicide rates. In Canada around 1920, before there was any form of gun

Lao-Tzu And Machiavelli Analysis
Lao Tzu wrote the Tao Te Ching back in sixth century B.C.E as he was exiling himself to a life of
contemplation. Before he left, the gatekeeper convinced him to write down his philosophical thoughts.
Machiavelli was an elite who lived in Florence during the late 1400s and the early 1500s. He wrote his
instructions, The Prince, during the instability of power within Italy after he was wrongly imprisoned.
Both texts give advice on the ways in which to rule a country, but because of the times in which they
were written, they promote separate ideas on the role of a leader, the view of humanity, and the way
their information should be presented.
The Master introduced by Lao Tzu and The Prince introduced by Machiavelli are two well renowned
embodiments of the perfect leader. A leader, according to Lao Tzu, silently leads his people by
allowing them to act and think for themselves. He even states, let go of fixed plans and concepts, and
the world will govern itself. The system of government, to him, seems to be a democracy, reaching
towards an anarchy. The Master embraces a role of quiet anonymity within society as Lao Tzu
believes, when the Master governs, the people are hardly aware that he exists. If that is not achieved,
then the next best thing is being loved, followed by being feared. On the other end of the spectrum,
Machiavelli believes in a dictatorship form of government. The Prince must have complete and utter
control over his citizens. Whereas Lao Tzu thought that a leader should be in the background,
Machiavelli believes in a leader that is feared above all. He states, ... he should maintain himself in
such a way that no man could imagine that he can deceive or cheat him. Power is the goal of the
Prince, in contrast to the enlightening of humanity that the Master promotes.
Human nature, to both Machiavelli and Lao Tzu, is the foundation for all of a leader s decisions. They
differ, however, on how humans inherently are. Lao Tzu holds the opinion that people will do the right
thing when rules and guidelines aren t present in society. Lao Tzu states, throw away morality and
justice, and people will do the right thing. A leader, to him, shouldn t focus on creating societal
standards, because people

however, was not on their side as he drew Prince Rhaegar s name. Bowing her head, the lady from

Ethos Pathos And Logos Analysis
Before the building of architectural achievements such as the Roman Colosseum, the Taj Mahal, and
the Windsor Castle, a Greek philosopher named Aristotle had created the three pillars of persuasive
speech over 2,000 years ago. These three pillars are known as ethos, logos, and pathos. The
architectural feats mentioned above had been created to last and withstand demolition from external
forces such as the weather, aging, and cracking/erosion. Just like these buildings are structured, an
argument needs to be well put together so it cannot be torn apart. This resulted in the creation of the
three pillars. In the reading of Monstrous Beginnings, the author, W. Scott Poole, uses Aristotle s three
pillars attempting to convince the reader that among ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pathos involves getting an emotional response from the reader, which is something that Poole
struggles to do in this writing. Although it is truly unfortunate how certain groups of people were
treated back then, Poole struggles to make you feel any sympathy for how the minorities were treated.
He does not include many stories that invoke feelings of anger towards the treatment of the natives or
pity or sorrow towards them. Another part that made his writing hard to read or feel any emotion over
were his long winded sentences. Many sentences went on longer than they should have, or could have
been cut in half to make shorter sentences so the material would become easier to read. Poole s writing
definitely leaned more toward the educational side than the emotional side as it seemed to read more
like a textbook than his own thoughts. However, there are a few examples in his writing that if he
made an effort, he could establish pathos much better. For example, Francisco de Chicora could have
made for a great story to establish pathos as he was a native who was kidnapped by Spanish explorers
and was forced into a different religion but was able to escape from them (179). However, the reader
learns the bulk of that information in the footnotes rather than by reading an emotional story that
would help establish the pathos in his writing. Poole is not able to evoke much, if any,

program during her undergrad as an English major at WFU. She was an English major and did not
know specifically what she wanted to do immediately after graduation. After applying to a couple
jobs, she received feedback from a stranger who happened to be a fellow WFU alum. This individual
did not think Christina would get a job at her company, but offered to spread her resume around.
Christina was extremely grateful for the kindness the other lady gave her, and she eventually landed a
role as part of a production company for her first job. Christina learned of her current employer,
Compass Professional Health Services, through a roommate who was a former employee of the
company. She encouraged Christina to apply for the open positions, which she later did via
Handshake. Hearing about her experience during the application and interview cycle(s) were great for
me to see how the job market functions for this particular company. One of the things that caught my
attention after Christina was offered and accepted a position at Compass was the training time prior to
officially starting. The amount of preparation before, and then observing and learning from others at
work was a great example for me to listen and visualize while thinking of the points discussed in
Personal Branding. A point during our practice reviewing resumes was that companies are particular
with new hires, because

Causes Of The Industrial Revolution
By 1750, there was not much doubt that if any country was going to triumph in being the first
industrial power it would be England (Hobsbawm 29). However, several factors were responsible for
England s emergence as an industrial power. Some of the contributing factors for the Industrial
Revolution were: the increasing importance of imperial goods such as cotton, cultural traditions that
stemmed from the Renaissance and the Reformation, population change, and a government willing to
subordinate all foreign policy to its economic ends. Socially, the Industrial Revolution in England
changed exponentially with the growing drift between the class hierarchy. Instead of reverting to
social revolution as occurred in France, England experienced political reform during the Industrial
Revolution that would become a symbol of hope for thriving countries. There has been much
speculation on the exact reason the Industrial Revolution began in England in the late 18th Century,
but certain components are undisputed for the Revolution s occurrence there. Initially, Britain already
had a large, developed supply of coal and iron which gave the British a start in mass metallurgy (Perry
286). There also was a surplus of capital available for investments to be made in new industries;
however, these funds came from wealthy landowners and merchants who had grown rich in commerce
through the slave trade (Perry 287). With the start of their own capitalist industrialization, England

industry in 1973.According to Southwest Airlines; their current employee retention rate is 92.3%.
During the times of September 11, 2001, more than 32,000 employees gave back some of their pay.
They did this to help the company through a temporary difficult time. The competitive advantage that
Southwest has over competitors is the benefits, which include free flights. During a time when the
economy is in a recession, many people cannot afford travel by airplane. The employees can reap this
benefit from day one of their employment ( southwest airlines, )

Hegemonic Masculinity In Contemporary Hollywood
ABSTRACT
Hyper masculinity, defined as the exaggeration of physical strength, aggression and sexuality that
essentializes masculinity (Mosher Sirkin, 1984), appears to be a prevalent feature of contemporary
science fiction films in Hollywood in the year 2000s. The films ability to influence the masses lies in
its ability to reach many people at the same time, thus transcending boundaries of time and space.
Since the American film industry is a dominant force in world television (Tudor, 2013), the portrayals
of masculinity in contemporary Hollywood sci fi films have the potential to penetrate the minds of
people around the world, across different time zones.
In this paper, we argue that contemporary Hollywood sci fi films perpetuate hegemonic ... Show more

Although The Matrix Reloaded (2003) is more dated than The Incredible Hulk (2008), it is highly
relevant to this discourse on masculinity as it offers a starkly contrasting image of masculinity that is

since The Matrix Reloaded (2003) achieved third place in the international box office, its popularity
demonstrates society s receptivity to alternative portrayals of

Designing A Contractor Management System For A Site Expansion
Design Deficiencies
The following report answers questions on design deficiencies. It will describe three design disasters
and examine the causes of the disaster and the impact they had on future designs. It will then discuss a
design and layout case study and the setting up of a contractor management system for a site
expansion.
Tacoma Bridge Collapse
Brief Description of the Disaster The Tacoma Narrows Bridge (aka Galloping Gertie ) was opened to
traffic on July 1, 1940 and was built to link Tacoma to the Gig Harbour. The Tacoma Bridge was built
with a light design which made it very sensitive to high winds. It lacked the ability to resist the winds
but rather swayed and vibrated with the wind direction (Britton, n.d.). Due the harmonic phenomena,
the swaying of the bridge worsened (Britton, n.d.). Four months after the opening of the bridge on
November 7, 1940, there was a 70 kilimeter per hour wind storm around the bridge area. The wind
caused the bridge to sway and vibrate turbulently from side to side, until it eventually tore the bridge
apart (Britton, n.d.).
Cause of the Disaster The cause of the incident was as result of the structure of the bridge which could
not resist the wind. Rather than resist the wind directional flow, it let the wind pass through it (Britton,
n.d.). As a result, the combined force of the winds and the internal stress in the bridge structure was far
too great for what the bridge could withstand, leading to its self destruction (Britton,

Visionless Blind Faith In Raymond Carver s Cathedral Analysis
Visionless Blind Faith in Raymond Carver s Cathedral
Narration is divided into two categories and classifications; those composed by men authors and those
composed by women writers. Narration by a male narrator who employs distancing strategies and
some are narrated by a female narrator using engaging strategies. Cathedral is an example used in the
academic journal Raymond Carver, Male and Female Interventions in Cathedral (Sasani, 2014).
Stories are described by a male storyteller who utilizes separating methodologies and some are
described by a female storyteller utilizing drawing in techniques, which are individually utilized by
men and women writers. Cathedral starts with a first person narrator narrating in plain and flat

Suzanne Keen in her article A Theory of Narrative Empathy, discusses the relation between the
narrator and feelings evoked. She states that the first person fiction more readily evokes feelings
responsiveness than the whole variety of third person narrative situations (2006, p. 215). From the
very beginning of Cathedral , the absence of a persuasive or convincing style of writing is very
suggestive of the presence of a male narrator through whose eyes the events are seen. The introduction
of the bizarre situation of Cathedral tellingly represents a distancing strategy and establishes the so
called manly distance between the reader and the story narrated by a male

The Day That Changed My Life
The sun shined into the bedroom and my heavy, tired eyes eagerly opened. A huge smile was revealed
on my face and a burst of chuckles traveled across the room. The laughter of a four year old child
filled the hallways. The excitement was visible in my coffee colored eyes as I ran down the stairs. I
was elated! Today was February 4th, 2005; it was the day! This was the day that I got to finally play
dress up with my mother and baby sister. I expected this day to be the best day of my life! However, it
was also the day that changed my life for the worst.
As soon as I reached the last step, I dashed straight forward into the living room. I found my mom
sitting on the floor with my little sister, Tianna. My mom was talking on the phone with ... Show more

I slipped out of my pajamas and put the frilly dress over my head. I skipped around the room while
watching the dress twirl around in majestic circles. After minutes upon minutes of prancing around the
room, I began to hear my stomach striking up a conversation with me. The growls could be heard a
mile away. In order to tame the hungry beast inside of my belly, I turned to my mom and asked her to
make me a bowl of Nissin Ramen noodles.
When I was younger, I believed that nothing was better than eating a tub of chicken noodles for
breakfast! My mom agreed to make me the soup, yet she gave me a simple warning before she left the
room. Tyra, she began, don t get that food from the microwave. You re gonna hurt yourself. Okay? She
always asked this of me before she cooked me a hot meal. All the other times, I actually listened to her
warning. This time, the warning went through one ear and out the other. For that reason, I recklessly
agreed to do what she had told me to do. Thinking that I would actually follow through with that
command, she headed downstairs with my sister to prepare my meal.
Since my room was upstairs and directly above the kitchen, I could hear my mom pulling glass dishes
out of one of the cabinets. I decided to change out of the princess dress because I did not want to risk
spilling soup all over it. I was a very messy eater! I took off the princess dress and shoved it back into
the trunk. While in search

Summary Of The Art Of Failure By Malcolm Gladwell
The Art of Failure
In the essay, The Art of Failure by Malcolm Gladwell we are given the meanings of choking and
panicking while being in a stressful situation. Gladwell began to illustrate his writing by giving us
other people s story, with the stories of Jana Novotna, John F Kennedy Jr, to name a few. Gladwell
starts off by telling the story of Jana Novotna a professional volleyball player who developed stress
when she saw who her opponent was, as she was getting near her chance of winning the
championship; she lost it when choking took over her.
As Jana developed choking while playing she began thinking of her shots and lost her fluidity, her
touch as the author said in the essay in pg. 267 (first paragraph, second sentence). The author
describes Chocking as a failure, as he says to choke or to panic is the same to quit . Malcolm Gladwell
gives a description to what choking is in the world of sports. Choking is when a person under stress
begins to focus more on how they are doing or on other things that they then begin to lose track of
what they are doing.
The author also briefly puts in the story of the New York Yankees second baseman Chuck Knoblauch,
who developed sports shocking while playing in front of thousands of fans, Knoblauch had trouble
throwing the ball to first base, while stressing Knoblauch found himself reverting to explicit mode,
throwing like a Little Leaguer again , as the author said in pg. 267 (last paragraph) Choking is also

She Ain T Right Essay
The happiest, most exciting memories I hold on to are often accompanied by a country song, whether
it be playing in the background, or roaring over the speakers. Songs are written for people to feel and
relate to the emotion the songwriter and singer put behind the lyrics. Growing up having my dad be
my role model and most influential person in my life, I often find myself in things that remind me of
him or our memories, along with songs that describe a girl who is fearless and lives on the edge at
times, as if there are no consequences. For me, this is especially true listening to the song She Ain t
Right, by Lee Brice, which highlights my personality and strength I got from my dad, my sense of
fearlessness, and my constant seeking out of adventure.
Growing up, I was, and am, my dad s little sidekick. We are best friends. Naturally, being such a
daddy s girl, I picked up his habits, which include being expressive via curse words and not filtering
my thoughts before saying them out loud. She Ain t Right begins with a line She got her Daddy s
tongue and temper, sometimes her mouth could use a filter. These words could not resonate with me
any more! There have even been several times I catch myself asking, Woah, is that my voice in my
head, or Dad s? The very first time I ever heard my dad curse was in Target at the checkout. I can t
recall exactly what upset him, however, I m pretty sure my brother or I were on his nerves, but he

Aquinas Cosmological Causes
Cosmological comes from the word cosmos which means universe is an orderly system, this definition
fits clearly through out the argument. The Cosmological coincides but also differs from the
Ontalogical argument due to the fact it is inductive, a Pasterori meaning that Aquinas uses empirical
evidence of the universe itself and questioned why it existed. Aquinas wrote the argument in his book
Summa Theologia making a clear link to Aristotles four causes; material, efficient, formal and final.
The causes needed an explanation, Aristotle concluded that this was the Prime Mover, however
Aquinas was a monk in the 15th century and took this point a step further by suggesting that the Prime
Mover was in fact the Judaeo Christian God. In a similar way to the fact Aristotle noticed there was a
change from potential to actuality in the universe, Aquinas noted that objects move and change, they
are subject to cause and effect and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Aquinas second way was that everything has an efficient cause as nothing can be efficient in itself as it
would have to exist prior to itself which is clearly impossible. Aquinas repeats the later part of his first
point by saying once again that infinite regress is not the efficient causes, and thus the cause is the
uncaused causer. For Aquinas this was

many still do not. The country of Russia is under very strict control by current President, Vladimir

Government actions are often secretive, canceling out the idea of transparency for citizens. Often
times, positions of power or wealth in Russia have the ability to hide fraud in the system from citizens.
(Kasparov, Garry, 2007). Citizen s do not have the option to challenge unfair governmental practices
or have information provided of governmental proceedings. This reduces the amount information

While individual rights in Russia are outlined in the constitution, often times these rights are not

How Beautiful are the Feet from Messiah
George Frederic Handel
As Mr. Handel in his oratorio s greatly excells all other Composers I am acquainted with, So in the

Elphin 1742
George Frederic Handel was born on February 23, 1685, in Halle, Brandenburg (which is now
Germany), into a wealthy, religious family. He spent 4 years travelling in Italy 1706 10, from where he
met many of the finest Italian musicians of that period, such as Alessandro Scarlatti and Arcangelo
Corelli. He moved to London in 1710, where he remained until his death on April 14 1759.
Handel was greatly influenced by the Italian style, with much of his vocal work being written in
Italian, including all of his operas, countless arias and many of his early oratorios.
However, after the release of the satirical Beggar s Opera, by John Gay, in early 1728, the popularity
of Italian Opera began to decline, because Gay s work s prevalent theme ridiculed the stereotypical
plots in Italian opera.
English audiences were also growing ever more dissatisfied with their entertainment being in Italian, a
language they did not speak, sung by singers of whose morals they disapproved. In spite of all this,
Handel continued to compose Italian operas until 1741, even co managing an Italian opera company in
London, until it went bankrupt in 1737.
Oratorios soon began to grow in popularity: large scale concert pieces for solo voices, chorus

Secondly, we will examine how appropriate the model is for the fund. Lastly, we will discuss how to

The Distance that Separates us from Shakespeare s Merchant of Venice
Without a doubt, Shylock of Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice has been a subject of much
controversy and debate for scholars and critics worldwide. Specifically, an element of his character
that has been thoroughly reviewed is the harshness with which he proposes his bond with Antonio. As
contemporary readers of the pound of flesh story we are naturally mortified by the fact that Shylock
would call for such barbarous terms. What many of us do not realize is that while we might feel horror
about the idea of the bond, the same is not necessarily true for an Elizabethan audience. This story has
been a major source of misunderstanding for many of its readers, as ... Show more content on

The dialogue between Shylock and Antonio occurs as follows:
Shylock. This kindness I will show.
Go with me to a notary, seal me there
Your single bond, and, in a merry sport,
If you repay me not on such a day,
In such a place, such sum or sums as are
Expressed in the condition, let the forfeit
Be nominated for an equal pound
Of your fair flesh to be cut off and taken
In what part of your body pleaseth me.
Antonio. Content, in faith. I ll seal to such a bond,
And say there is much kindness in the Jew. (2.1.139 149)
It is clear in Antonio s response that he finds nothing extraordinary about these terms at all. Without
hesitation he accepts the conditions of the contract and even goes on to deem Shylock s proposal as
kind. In the Shakespearian sense of the word, kindness even means tenderness, affection, love, or
humaneness (Grebanier, 98). This should suggest to us that the idea to stake a pound of Antonio s
flesh is by no means a representation of Shylock s devilishness or cruelty. After all, according to
Shylock himself, it is only in a merry sport that they shall enter such an agreement.
In light of textual scrutiny, it is also worthwhile to re examine the court scene in which Shylock is now
demanding the fulfillment of the bond. Shylock s relentless pursuit of his pound of flesh again serves
to discredit his character in

Purpose: This report is based on gold mining in Australia particularly Mt Morgan. The purpose is to
decide if a gold mine is should be built near Mt Morgan (QLD) by considering the scientific impact of
the extraction, separation and refinement processes of gold. As a local farmer I will argue for No, don
t build it .
Gold, chemically known as Aurum (Au) is found throughout the earth and sea but there are natural
spots where we can recover much higher concentrations of gold. Gold is normally found associated
with quartz veins which are located in rock such as granite. There are several methods to find gold
deposits. Panning was the most common method of mining on the goldfield. Cradling is a water based
method, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pollution is one of the key environmental impacts. Mercury is still used in gold mining in our
developing world despite safer alternatives. According to the United Nations Industrial Organization it
is estimated that 1000 tonnes of mercury is released into the air, soil and water each year. Mercury is
highly toxic therefore it can cause serious illness even death to both humans and animals. Cyanide is
extremely lethal but as it is an environmental contaminant it is not as problematic as mercury due to
the fact that is degrades fairly quickly while mercury stays around

Emerson 4 Seasons
Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, Each moment of the year has its own beauty. There are four seasons
throughout the year and I believe that each one of them has something to offer us. Everything in life
changes like the seasons do whether it is people, where you are, and even yourself. Each change could
be ugly or beautiful. The air is crisp and the leaves are changing, that s how I know its fall. It s Friday
night, the stadium lights are on and we ve just scored a touchdown, you can hear the cheerleaders
chanting, the crowd shouting, and the band playing the George Wythe fight song. The air is chilly; it s
perfect for oversized sweatshirts, fuzzy boots, and pumpkin spice lattes from Starbucks. These are the
simple, beautiful things about

Socialism Vs Social Work
B. To Nielsen Capitalism needs private productive property to work while socialism works to abolish
private ownership of production. Socialism is more free in the sense that is requires public ownership
and control of the means of production. Under capitalism there is private property rights. Under this
people who own the property get to choose what is done to the property but in socialism citizens at
large get to chose what happens to the property. (Social Ethics) In socialism there is no domain that is
not subject to political determination. Socialism is not a state of ownership though. (Social Ethics) At
the very least its popular sovereignty. The property that is owned by the government is productive
property not private personal property. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To Young oppression has many forms these are exploitation, marginalization, powerlessness, cultural
imperialism and systematic violence. (Social Ethics)These forms are not all oppressed to the same
extent or way but suffer in a way to develop and exercise their capacities and their needs. Exploitation
is the first type of oppression. (Social Ethics)Young says that a capitalist society removes traditional
law enforced class distinctions and promotes the belief in the legal freedom of persons. (Social
Ethics)Workers then contract with whatever employer they choose and then receive a wage from
them. Young then raises the question then why do class distinctions persist between the wealthy ?
(Social Ethics) Every Product s value is a function of the labor time needed for its production. The
labor power is the one product that in the process of being consumed produces value. (Social Ethics)
Profit, the foundation of capitalist power and wealth, comes from the difference between the value of
the labor performed and the value of the capacity to labor which the capitalist purchases. (Social
Ethics) Profit is only possible because of the owner of the capital gives it surplus value showing that
the workers are exploited. (Social Ethics)Through private ownership of the means of production and
by markets that designate labor and the ability to buy products, Capitalism transfers powers to one
person to others . Then in this process of transferred powers the capitalist class

The Legacy Of Bill Gates
Bill Gates was not always successful; in fact, he began as a failure. He dropped out of Harvard and
went bankrupt in the first business he started. That being said, he did eventually create Microsoft and
become a multi billionaire. Walt Disney was fired as a newspaper editor because he lacked
imagination and had no good ideas. He later went on to create the company known as Disney. Albert
Einstein did not begin speaking until he was four and did not know how to read until he was seven. He
was expelled from his first school and was refused admittance to the Zurich Polytechnic School.
Einstein later won the Nobel Prize for physics. All of these people persisted and achieved their goals,
when others would have given up if they were in their shoes. This goes to show that anyone can
achieve anything. Back in 10th grade, I found out about a sport known as rugby. I found this sport to
be intriguing, and I wanted to learn more about it, so I started watching videos and learning. Within a
month or two, I was completely hooked. I learned about a rugby team at Union and joined it. It is a
rough sport, but at the same time fun. All of it was living up to my dreams until one night, someone
tackled me. Now this guy was massive; he was almost twice my size in both height and weight, with
the majority of it consisting of muscle. I do not remember what happened exactly, but I remember that
I had the ball and was trying to score. This other guy came from the side and

Congress called for a Constitutional Convention in 1970 in response to public cry for a new
constitution to replace the colonial 1935 Constitution. An explosion during the proclamation rally of
the senatorial slate of the opposition Liberal Party in Plaza Miranda in Quiapo, Manila on August 21,
1971, prompted Marcos to suspend the writ of habeas corpus hours after the blast, which he restored
on January 11, 1972 after public protests. Martial Law (1972 1981) Using the rising wave of
lawlessness and the threat of a Communist insurgency as justification, Marcos declared martial law on
September 21, 1972 by virtue of Proclamation No. 1081. Martial Law remained in force until 1981,
when Marcos was reelected, in the midst of accusations of electoral fraud. Marcos, ruling by decree,
curtailed press freedom and other civil liberties; closed down Congress and media establishments; and
ordered the arrest of opposition leaders and militant activists, including his staunchest critics Senator
Benigno Aquino, Jr. and Senator Jose Diokno. Initially, the declaration of martial law was well
received, given the social turmoil the Philippines was experiencing. Crime rates plunged dramatically
after a curfew was implemented. Political opponents were given the opportunity to go into exile. But,
as martial law dragged on for the next nine years, excesses by the military emerged. Constitutionally

The Movie Out There and Advertising of Canadian Beer
In today s market of technology and visual stimulation it becomes more and more important for
advertising campaigns to stand out and be innovative, and it is this idea that drove one Canadian beer
company to do something that had never been done before. In light of waning interest, Kokanee,
owned by the Labatt Brewing Company, enlisted the help of Toronto based Grip advertising agency to
(with its entire yearly marketing budget) create something really big for there next campaign. Grip s
innovative response to this challenge was to do something completely new and create an ad in the
form of a full length feature film, which they would call: The Movie Out Here
The Movie Out There is a ninety minute Canadian indie film created as an entertaining alternative to
traditional advertising. The film follows three friends on their quest to save a business in the small
skiing town of Fernie, British Columbia by hosting a huge party. Along their journey they encounter
characters and sub plots that stem from Kokanee s long running advertising narrative of the Kokanee
Ranger. This narrative chronicles the attempts of the Ranger and the Kokanee Girls to safe guard the
Kokanee beer from the Sasquatch who continuously tries to steal it. These brand mascots are ever
present in the film, although slightly revamped. The Ranger becomes a duo of rangers consisting of
two young men: Glacier and Fresh who became the new mascots for Kokanee after the original ranger
was killed off. Their

William Shakespeare s Macbeth And Wuthering Heights
Andrew Sloop
Mrs. Weaver
English 4

Destructive Love In Macbeth and Wuthering Heights The theme of destructive love within
relationships in Shakespeare s Macbeth and Bronte s Wuthering Heights are presented through sexism,
jealousy, and betrayal. How do women gain control in a relationship? Can men regain control in a
relationship? What makes a good relationship? What makes a bad relationship? Can people be over
ambitious? These questions are vital to understanding the complex relationships in these stories.
Women gain control in a relationship in several ways. Some relationships don t struggle for power,
and sometimes a participant simply gives the woman power freely. However, other times, the woman
abuses her partner ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Macbeth, Macbeth becomes king. When this happens, Lady Macbeth becomes docile, where before
she was fiery, ruthless, and the driving force in the relationship. Macbeth then became dominant over
Lady Macbeth, gaining control in the relationship. Thus, in this example, control was regained. In
Wuthering Heights, Heathcliff eventually came to own Wuthering Heights, and appropriated
Thrushcross Grange. When this happened, he was angry with Catherine, because he did not know her
plan. He isolated her from the rest of the household. He became more powerful. Thus, he regained
control in the relationship.
What makes a good relationship? This question has plagued the romantically inclined for perhaps all
of time. Dr. Sarkis of Psychology Today seems to think that common goals and values are key, stating
Couples with very different interests can have healthy relationships what counts is that they share
common goals and values. (psychologytoday.com.) In this sense, the relationship in Macbeth is
considered a good relationship. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth do, after all, share a common goal: They
both want Macbeth to be king. However, they are not the only ones who share a common goal or
value.
Heathcliff and Catherine s love is an attempt to break the boundaries of self and to fuse with another
to transcend the inherent separateness of the human condition; fusion with another will by uniting two
incomplete individuals

Discrete Computational Exercises Section 2-5 Essay

Exercises Section 2.5
2. Determine whether each of these sets is finite, countably infinite, or uncountable. For those that are
countably infinite, exhibit a one to one correspondence between the set of positive integers and that
set.
a. The integers greater than 10.
This is countably infinite.
Starting from the first integer greater than 10, which is 11, one can infinitely count upwards since
there is no boundary on the right side of the number line for this instance.
The equation ƒ(x) = x + 11 can be used to show a one to one correspondence. x: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, ...
ƒ(x): 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 ...
b. The odd negative integers.
This is countably infinite.
Starting from the first odd negative integer closest to 0, which ... Show more content on

a. Integers not divisible by 3.
This set is countable.
The integers in the set are ±1, ±2, ±4, ±5, ±7, and so on.
We can list these numbers in the order 1, −1, 2, −2, 4, −4, 5, −5, 7, −7, ... , thereby establishing the
desired correspondence. x: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, ...
ƒ(x): 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, ...
b. Integers divisible by 5 but not by 7.
This is countably infinite.
This is similar to part (a); we can simply list the elements of the set in order of increasing absolute
value, listing each positive term before its corresponding negative: (x): 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9...
ƒ(x): 5, 5, 10, 10, 15, 15, 20, 20, 25, 25, 30, 30 40, 40, ...
c. The real numbers with decimal representations consisting of all 1s.
This set is countable but a little tricky.
We can arrange the numbers in a 2 dimensional table as follows:
Thus we have shown that our set is the countable union of countable sets (each of the countable sets is
one row of this table).
Therefore by Exercise 27, the entire set is countable.
For an explicit correspondence with the positive integers, we can zigzag along the positive sloping
diagonals as in Figure 3: 1↔ .1 , 2↔ 1.1 , 3↔.1, 4↔.11, 5↔1, and so on.
d. The real numbers with decimal representations of all 1s or 9s.
This set is not countable.
We can prove it by the same diagonalization argument as was used to prove that the set of all reals is
uncountable in Example 5.
All we need to do is choose di =

  • 2. Observation Of Migrant Mother Make observations: The migrant mother is in the foreground of the image, while her children are in the background of the image. The migrant mother is the major element in this image, while the children are the minor elements are the children. The mother is staring out in the distance, and appears to have a concerned expression on her face. She is worried, and her clothes are ragged. There are three children in this image: two of them near her shoulders, and another in her lap. It appears that the child in her lap is an infant, and was born somewhat recently. Connect the observations: In 1936, the Dust Bowl was occurring in the United States. The Dust Bowl was a series of dust storms that destroyed lives, and forced many citizens in the Midwest to relocate to California. According to Lange, this image was taken in California. It is possible that the mother and her children have been displaced from their homes, and are escaping to California looking for work. However, finding work in California was often a fruitless effort. There was typically little to no work for migrants, which could be a source of stress for the migrant mother. She has three children, but she is most likely unable to feed them. This is further supported by the state of her clothes and her children s clothes. They are tattered, which indicates there is not enough money to buy new clothes. Draw inferences from the related observations: A possible interpretation of this situation is that the woman has recently migrated from the Midwest, and is struggling to provide for her family. She is in a difficult situation, because she loves her children but is unable to provide them with an ideal lifestyle. Their faces are covered in dust, and the mother is wearing an expression of hopelessness. The tone of this image is one of hopelessness, the underlying emotion common in almost all the Okies at the time. The hardships have worn the migrant mother down, and she is struggling to survive with her three children. There are no other family members present in the image, suggesting that she is the sole provider and sole source of income for her family. Form a tentative interpretative conclusion: By depicting the facial expression of the woman and her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Effects Of The Silver Bow Creek Copper Copper is another pollutant that at very high levels is toxic and can cause vomiting, diarrhea, loss of strength or, for serious exposure, cirrhosis of the liver (Pure Water Services). In order for copper to metabolized the heavy metal zinc is needed. Zinc helps with copper breakdown but too much zinc can cause a copper deficiency which can also cause problems such as anemia. While copper has some severe side effects there have not been any cases that are related to cancer. In most cases throughout the Silver Bow Creek copper is not thought to be a severe threat to the community. Mercury is another toxic pollutant that may be found in the tailings and in the surface and ground water supplies of the Silver Bow Creek area. While mercury is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As people began to realize the damage done by the pollution of the environment nearly fifty years had passed. By this time the contaminated tailings and toxins released from the smelters and chemical treatment facilities had reached an outrageous numbers. With the help of the great flood of 1908 these pollutants covered the Silver Bow creek banks from Butte all the way to the Milltown Dam. In 1911 the Anaconda Company began extensive cleanup efforts by implementing the use of warm springs ponds as a water treatment facility (Citizens Technical Environmental Committee, 4). These ponds were developed initially with the thought that they would be able to catch polluted tailings before they were able to reach the Clark Fork River. There was an estimated 2,400 acres of warm springs ponds built between the years of 1911 and 1959 (Citizens Technical Environmental Committee, 4). The settling ponds were created to hold the mining wastes, acting as a dam so that the metals did not end up in the Clark Fork River. The tailings are then covered over with lime to prevent them from leeching back into the environment. This series of warm springs ponds provides treatment to the water in such a way that the environment can cleanse the water of pollutants on its own instead. This treatment method is accomplished with the water being further cleansed as it is transferred from pond to pond. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The reason why is that when I see people hurt around town it makes me want to put what I am doing down and go over there and help them.I have always wanted to find a way to help out the community and I figured becoming a physical therapist what right for me. I have always wanted to become one but I never could decide when I was younger. My mom told me that I could become if I just put my mind to it and never give up. • 5. How White Tailed Deer Affect Native And Invasive Plant... How White tailed Deer Effect Native and Invasive Plant Species Populations in the Eastern United States. Introduction Whitetail deer have come to be known as a keystone species, species known for affecting other organisms in an ecosystem. Deer are known as a keystone species in forest habitats such as in the Eastern United States because they are capable of destroying potential forest habitat of other organisms (McShea and Rappole, 1992). For example, deer have a negative impact on forest ecosystems by trampling and over browsing over vegetation, without creating any habitat for other native species. Throughout the eastern United States, the abundance of white tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) has increased dramatically over the last century (Taggart and Long, 2015). Population increases could be due to increased habitat fragmentation from land development, reduced predators and/or hunting pressure. Individual deer ranges varied during seasonal times, deer movements are usually greatest during the peak breeding months from late fall through winter (Williams et. al, 2012). Regardless of the cause, high deer densities can have significant effects on plant communities such as plant decay and/or even death. Deer consume a large amounts of plant biomass (leaves, buds, flowers and fruits) and directly reduce the growth, reproduction, and survival of herbaceous and woody plant species (Shen et. al, 2016). Strong evidence suggests that haloperidol can cause increased EPS such as akathisia, parkinsonism, and dyskinesia compared with the atypical antipsychotic drugs (Kahn et al. 2008). Prolonged treatment with the typical antipsychotics could also lead to late onset of EPS, which has a higher incident rate of tardive dyskinesia, characterised by involuntary and repetitive facial movements (Divac et al. 2014). In addition, typical antipsychotics have been linked to elevated prolactin, causing galactorrhea and amenorrhea, which the atypical antipsychotics are free from (Hasan et al. 2012). Some typical and atypical antipsychotic drugs could cause impaired glucose tolerance, insulin resistance, hyperlipidemia and weight gain, which increases the risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular diseases (Meltzer 2013). Now, the time has come to have faith in Jesus Christ for salvation of our souls. The temple is no longer needed. In effect, no longer we need to wait for the foreshadow of Jesus Christ, we no longer need to slain a sheep to cover our sins, we no longer need to seek God on an altar, as he dwells within us through the Holy Spirit. • 10. Essay On Klu Klux Klan  Intro Extreme deviance is behavior, beliefs, or physical traits that are serious enough to cast violators outside of the conventional society. The Klu Klux Klan is one of the most well known deviant white supremacy groups throughout the world. The Klan promoted their white supremacy ideas by participating in violent acts of lynching and burning crosses. They retreated into macho KKK attacks, scourging the homes and churches with their destruction, trying to browbeat the blacks into submission with violent outbursts and threats. However, the K.K.K. s main goal was to weaken the reconstruction governments and retain power for the southerners who had been in confederacy.  Norms The KKK murderers were deviant, at least according to northern white standards, but they were the norm according to fearful southern thinking at that time. These were white men who were hanging on a thread, afraid of true equality of the races for economic and deeply psychological and sociological reasons. Him and all three of his young siblings could have been shot and killed. When faced with gun control laws, the law abiding citizen has no choice other than to disarm or become an outlaw, but people with bad intentions are faced with no such moral dilemma. So, what happens when the bad man with the gun is right there and the military, the police, and the President s Secret Service aren t on the scene? Then having a gun may be the difference between living or dying, between being raped or being okay, between saving your children or watching them die. The debate over gun control in the United States has waxed and waned over the years, stirred by a series of mass killings by gunmen in civilian settings. In particular, the killing of twenty schoolchildren in Newtown, Connecticut, in December 2012 fueled a national discussion over gun laws and calls by the Obama administration to limit the availability of military style weapons. However, compromise legislation that would have banned semiautomatic assault weapons and expanded background checks was defeated in the Senate in 2013, despite extensive public support. Gun control advocates sought to rekindle the debate following the shooting deaths of nine people at a South Carolina church in June 2015. These advocates highlight the stricter gun laws and lower incidents of gun violence in several other democracies, like Japan and Australia, but many others say this correlation proves little. • 15. Lao-Tzu And Machiavelli Analysis Lao Tzu wrote the Tao Te Ching back in sixth century B.C.E as he was exiling himself to a life of contemplation. Before he left, the gatekeeper convinced him to write down his philosophical thoughts. Machiavelli was an elite who lived in Florence during the late 1400s and the early 1500s. He wrote his instructions, The Prince, during the instability of power within Italy after he was wrongly imprisoned. Both texts give advice on the ways in which to rule a country, but because of the times in which they were written, they promote separate ideas on the role of a leader, the view of humanity, and the way their information should be presented. The Master introduced by Lao Tzu and The Prince introduced by Machiavelli are two well renowned embodiments of the perfect leader. A leader, according to Lao Tzu, silently leads his people by allowing them to act and think for themselves. He even states, let go of fixed plans and concepts, and the world will govern itself. The system of government, to him, seems to be a democracy, reaching towards an anarchy. The Master embraces a role of quiet anonymity within society as Lao Tzu believes, when the Master governs, the people are hardly aware that he exists. If that is not achieved, then the next best thing is being loved, followed by being feared. On the other end of the spectrum, Machiavelli believes in a dictatorship form of government. The Prince must have complete and utter control over his citizens. Whereas Lao Tzu thought that a leader should be in the background, Machiavelli believes in a leader that is feared above all. He states, ... he should maintain himself in such a way that no man could imagine that he can deceive or cheat him. Power is the goal of the Prince, in contrast to the enlightening of humanity that the Master promotes. Human nature, to both Machiavelli and Lao Tzu, is the foundation for all of a leader s decisions. They differ, however, on how humans inherently are. Lao Tzu holds the opinion that people will do the right thing when rules and guidelines aren t present in society. Lao Tzu states, throw away morality and justice, and people will do the right thing. Bowing her head, the lady from Highgarden sighed. This had not been what she d been hoping for at all, what should ve been the final tilt of the tournament was going to happen that day. Feeling someone s gaze upon her, Alayna lifted her jade eyes to meet Arthur s violet stare. The Sword of the Morning offered his lady an assuring smile as he touched the collar of his breast plate, upon closer inspection Alayna could see a puff of white cloth sticking out from underneath the armor near his neck. Smirking in return, she nodded, curtly in his direction before turning her attention to Griff s tilt against Ser Barristan. • 17. Ethos Pathos And Logos Analysis Before the building of architectural achievements such as the Roman Colosseum, the Taj Mahal, and the Windsor Castle, a Greek philosopher named Aristotle had created the three pillars of persuasive speech over 2,000 years ago. These three pillars are known as ethos, logos, and pathos. The architectural feats mentioned above had been created to last and withstand demolition from external forces such as the weather, aging, and cracking/erosion. Just like these buildings are structured, an argument needs to be well put together so it cannot be torn apart. This resulted in the creation of the three pillars. In the reading of Monstrous Beginnings, the author, W. Scott Poole, uses Aristotle s three pillars attempting to convince the reader that among ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pathos involves getting an emotional response from the reader, which is something that Poole struggles to do in this writing. Although it is truly unfortunate how certain groups of people were treated back then, Poole struggles to make you feel any sympathy for how the minorities were treated. He does not include many stories that invoke feelings of anger towards the treatment of the natives or pity or sorrow towards them. Another part that made his writing hard to read or feel any emotion over were his long winded sentences. Many sentences went on longer than they should have, or could have been cut in half to make shorter sentences so the material would become easier to read. Poole s writing definitely leaned more toward the educational side than the emotional side as it seemed to read more like a textbook than his own thoughts. However, there are a few examples in his writing that if he made an effort, he could establish pathos much better. For example, Francisco de Chicora could have made for a great story to establish pathos as he was a native who was kidnapped by Spanish explorers and was forced into a different religion but was able to escape from them (179). However, the reader learns the bulk of that information in the footnotes rather than by reading an emotional story that would help establish the pathos in his writing. She was an English major and did not know specifically what she wanted to do immediately after graduation. After applying to a couple jobs, she received feedback from a stranger who happened to be a fellow WFU alum. This individual did not think Christina would get a job at her company, but offered to spread her resume around. Christina was extremely grateful for the kindness the other lady gave her, and she eventually landed a role as part of a production company for her first job. She encouraged Christina to apply for the open positions, which she later did via Handshake. Hearing about her experience during the application and interview cycle(s) were great for me to see how the job market functions for this particular company. One of the things that caught my attention after Christina was offered and accepted a position at Compass was the training time prior to officially starting. • 20. Causes Of The Industrial Revolution By 1750, there was not much doubt that if any country was going to triumph in being the first industrial power it would be England (Hobsbawm 29). However, several factors were responsible for England s emergence as an industrial power. Some of the contributing factors for the Industrial Revolution were: the increasing importance of imperial goods such as cotton, cultural traditions that stemmed from the Renaissance and the Reformation, population change, and a government willing to subordinate all foreign policy to its economic ends. Socially, the Industrial Revolution in England changed exponentially with the growing drift between the class hierarchy. Instead of reverting to social revolution as occurred in France, England experienced political reform during the Industrial Revolution that would become a symbol of hope for thriving countries. There has been much speculation on the exact reason the Industrial Revolution began in England in the late 18th Century, but certain components are undisputed for the Revolution s occurrence there. Initially, Britain already had a large, developed supply of coal and iron which gave the British a start in mass metallurgy (Perry 286). There also was a surplus of capital available for investments to be made in new industries; however, these funds came from wealthy landowners and merchants who had grown rich in commerce through the slave trade (Perry 287). The films ability to influence the masses lies in its ability to reach many people at the same time, thus transcending boundaries of time and space. It will describe three design disasters and examine the causes of the disaster and the impact they had on future designs. Tacoma Bridge Collapse Brief Description of the Disaster The Tacoma Narrows Bridge (aka Galloping Gertie ) was opened to traffic on July 1, 1940 and was built to link Tacoma to the Gig Harbour. The Tacoma Bridge was built with a light design which made it very sensitive to high winds. It lacked the ability to resist the winds but rather swayed and vibrated with the wind direction (Britton, n.d.). Due the harmonic phenomena, the swaying of the bridge worsened (Britton, n.d.). Four months after the opening of the bridge on November 7, 1940, there was a 70 kilimeter per hour wind storm around the bridge area. The wind caused the bridge to sway and vibrate turbulently from side to side, until it eventually tore the bridge apart (Britton, n.d.). Cause of the Disaster The cause of the incident was as result of the structure of the bridge which could not resist the wind. Rather than resist the wind directional flow, it let the wind pass through it (Britton, n.d.). As a result, the combined force of the winds and the internal stress in the bridge structure was far too great for what the bridge could withstand, leading to its self destruction (Britton, ... Gladwell began to illustrate his writing by giving us other people s story, with the stories of Jana Novotna, John F Kennedy Jr, to name a few. Gladwell starts off by telling the story of Jana Novotna a professional volleyball player who developed stress when she saw who her opponent was, as she was getting near her chance of winning the championship; she lost it when choking took over her. As Jana developed choking while playing she began thinking of her shots and lost her fluidity, her touch as the author said in the essay in pg. 267 (first paragraph, second sentence). The author describes Chocking as a failure, as he says to choke or to panic is the same to quit . Malcolm Gladwell gives a description to what choking is in the world of sports. Choking is when a person under stress begins to focus more on how they are doing or on other things that they then begin to lose track of what they are doing. The author also briefly puts in the story of the New York Yankees second baseman Chuck Knoblauch, who developed sports shocking while playing in front of thousands of fans, Knoblauch had trouble throwing the ball to first base, while stressing Knoblauch found himself reverting to explicit mode, throwing like a Little Leaguer again , as the author said in pg. 267 (last paragraph) Choking is also ... The Cosmological coincides but also differs from the Ontalogical argument due to the fact it is inductive, a Pasterori meaning that Aquinas uses empirical evidence of the universe itself and questioned why it existed. Aquinas wrote the argument in his book Summa Theologia making a clear link to Aristotles four causes; material, efficient, formal and final. The causes needed an explanation, Aristotle concluded that this was the Prime Mover, however Aquinas was a monk in the 15th century and took this point a step further by suggesting that the Prime Mover was in fact the Judaeo Christian God. Bishop of Elphin 1742 George Frederic Handel was born on February 23, 1685, in Halle, Brandenburg (which is now Germany), into a wealthy, religious family. He spent 4 years travelling in Italy 1706 10, from where he met many of the finest Italian musicians of that period, such as Alessandro Scarlatti and Arcangelo Corelli. This is emphasised by the near singular correlation matrices 2 . Furthermore, the results are extremely sensitive to these mean and variance assumptions due to the structure of the M V model. The Distance that Separates us from Shakespeare s Merchant of Venice Without a doubt, Shylock of Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice has been a subject of much controversy and debate for scholars and critics worldwide. Specifically, an element of his character that has been thoroughly reviewed is the harshness with which he proposes his bond with Antonio. As contemporary readers of the pound of flesh story we are naturally mortified by the fact that Shylock would call for such barbarous terms. What many of us do not realize is that while we might feel horror about the idea of the bond, the same is not necessarily true for an Elizabethan audience. This story has been a major source of misunderstanding for many of its readers, as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The dialogue between Shylock and Antonio occurs as follows: Shylock. This kindness I will show. Go with me to a notary, seal me there Your single bond, and, in a merry sport, If you repay me not on such a day, In such a place, such sum or sums as are Expressed in the condition, let the forfeit Be nominated for an equal pound Of your fair flesh to be cut off and taken In what part of your body pleaseth me. Antonio. Content, in faith. I ll seal to such a bond, And say there is much kindness in the Jew. (2.1.139 149) It is clear in Antonio s response that he finds nothing extraordinary about these terms at all. Without hesitation he accepts the conditions of the contract and even goes on to deem Shylock s proposal as kind. In the Shakespearian sense of the word, kindness even means tenderness, affection, love, or humaneness (Grebanier, 98). This should suggest to us that the idea to stake a pound of Antonio s flesh is by no means a representation of Shylock s devilishness or cruelty. After all, according to Shylock himself, it is only in a merry sport that they shall enter such an agreement. In light of textual scrutiny, it is also worthwhile to re examine the court scene in which Shylock is now demanding the fulfillment of the bond. Shylock s relentless pursuit of his pound of flesh again serves to discredit his character in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The purpose is to decide if a gold mine is should be built near Mt Morgan (QLD) by considering the scientific impact of the extraction, separation and refinement processes of gold. As a local farmer I will argue for No, don t build it . Gold, chemically known as Aurum (Au) is found throughout the earth and sea but there are natural spots where we can recover much higher concentrations of gold. Gold is normally found associated with quartz veins which are located in rock such as granite. There are several methods to find gold deposits. Socialism is more free in the sense that is requires public ownership and control of the means of production. Under capitalism there is private property rights. Under this people who own the property get to choose what is done to the property but in socialism citizens at large get to chose what happens to the property. That being said, he did eventually create Microsoft and become a multi billionaire. Walt Disney was fired as a newspaper editor because he lacked imagination and had no good ideas. He later went on to create the company known as Disney. Albert Einstein did not begin speaking until he was four and did not know how to read until he was seven. The Movie Out There and Advertising of Canadian Beer In today s market of technology and visual stimulation it becomes more and more important for advertising campaigns to stand out and be innovative, and it is this idea that drove one Canadian beer company to do something that had never been done before. In light of waning interest, Kokanee, owned by the Labatt Brewing Company, enlisted the help of Toronto based Grip advertising agency to (with its entire yearly marketing budget) create something really big for there next campaign. Grip s innovative response to this challenge was to do something completely new and create an ad in the form of a full length feature film, which they would call: The Movie Out Here The Movie Out There is a ninety minute Canadian indie film created as an entertaining alternative to traditional advertising. The film follows three friends on their quest to save a business in the small skiing town of Fernie, British Columbia by hosting a huge party. William Shakespeare s Macbeth And Wuthering Heights Andrew Sloop Mrs. Weaver English 4 May 29, 2017 Destructive Love In Macbeth and Wuthering Heights The theme of destructive love within relationships in Shakespeare s Macbeth and Bronte s Wuthering Heights are presented through sexism, jealousy, and betrayal. How do women gain control in a relationship? Can men regain control in a relationship? What makes a good relationship? What makes a bad relationship? Can people be over ambitious? These questions are vital to understanding the complex relationships in these stories. Women gain control in a relationship in several ways. When this happens, Lady Macbeth becomes docile, where before she was fiery, ruthless, and the driving force in the relationship. Macbeth then became dominant over Lady Macbeth, gaining control in the relationship. Thus, in this example, control was regained. In Wuthering Heights, Heathcliff eventually came to own Wuthering Heights, and appropriated Thrushcross Grange. When this happened, he was angry with Catherine, because he did not know her plan. He isolated her from the rest of the household. He became more powerful. Thus, he regained control in the relationship. What makes a good relationship? For those that are countably infinite, exhibit a one to one correspondence between the set of positive integers and that set. a. The integers greater than 10. This is countably infinite. Starting from the first integer greater than 10, which is 11, one can infinitely count upwards since there is no boundary on the right side of the number line for this instance.
