Ophelia Character Analysis
In the play, Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, Ophelia, the daughter of Polonius, is seen as a fair
maiden who wants her love with Hamlet to be eternal. Due to the many warnings from her father
Polonius and her brother Laertes, she succumbs to her father s wishes and plays the role of a good
daughter, thus betraying Hamlet. Previously in the play where Hamlet gives his soliloquy on life and
death, Ophelia has been ordered to break off her relationship with Hamlet while Polonius eavesdrops
to prove that Hamlet has truly gone mad. As a result of Hamlet s supposed madness and Ophelia s
docile character during the confrontation, both of their fragile hearts shatter and Ophelia begins her
dark descent into madness, leading to her eventual death.
Throughout acts one and two of the play, Ophelia in Hamlet s eyes is seen as one of the only fair and
trustworthy outliers in the array of deception. After his soliloquy about life and death with its dark and
apathetic tone, there is a shift when Ophelia is in his presence. As Hamlet realizes his beloved is
approaching, he commands himself, Soft you now! to make sure Ophelia does not hear what he is
saying as if not to corrupt this beauty from heaven (Shakespeare III.i.86). His mood perks up and the
tone of his words become more endearing when he calls her a Nymph (III.i.87). Shakespeare s diction
here further builds upon how the audience sees their relationship. The positive connotation of this
word puts Ophelia on a pedestal while

Healing Power Of Music Essay
The Healing Power Of Music Music has survived throughout the course of human history because it
has always been such a huge part of the human life. Music allows us to feel joy, sadness and fear. It
can bring us pleasure, express what we cannot express in words. In fact, no matter what culture, race,
or ethnicity you will find music is always present and contains an important role in society. Not only
does music affect your mind but it effects our bodies as well. Music can aid in recalling memories,
affect our emotions and moods, and surprisingly enough, have various health benefits. This paper will
discuss how music can affect our mind, emotions, and our body but most importantly its healing
power. Music plays an important role in one s memory. We have two basics types of memory Which
are short and long term memory. Our brains seem to have been hard wired to connect music with long
term memory making it an essential tool in helping those with Alzheimer s disease and related
dementias. Alzheimer s disease is A progressive mental deterioration that can occur in middle or old
age, due to generalized degeneration of the brain. It is the most common cause of premature senility.

music to aid in the treatment of said patients the results are astounding and can even be seen in the
very late stages of the disease. Music has the ability to change the patient s mood, influence

Simulation Swot Analysis
Week Two Journal This week s key learning areas have definitely taught me patience and
perseverance. My experience in the Simulation has trained me to be consistent in my routine while
learning the mechanics to develop a strategy. The SWOT analysis is a brainstorming tool that has
developed my thought process throughout navigating the game. It is crucial to create a sequence
during the Simulation to gain total control of your production. Also, learning from the mistakes that I
have made has allowed me to reevaluate my approach and performance. There were two questions
posed in our case study: How many weeks would it take to produce an order of 1200 White Socks?;
and How many weeks would it take to produce an order of 1200 Polo Shirts? These key areas will be
discussed throughout the journal to express my understanding of the experience. Discussion ... Show

The strengths include, checking the materials and quality needed before bidding on contracts, bidding
on contracts that were similar with my reputation level, which allowed me to increase my winning
capabilities. Weaknesses include, not having all of the equipment on the production floor to fulfill
contracts that were offered, and having to begin at a lower reputation level, which limited my selection
of contracts. Opportunities that were presented allowed me to strategize by bidding and winning
contracts, which caused me to gain a higher reputation. When I achieved the higher reputation level I
exceeded my expectations and won higher paying contracts. Finally, the threats seen throughout the
game simulation was not having enough time to order product as well as having the item produced on
higher paying bids that have a shorter time span to be completed, which shows me that not having all
the machines could produce time issues. Also, ordering in bulk produced excess inventory that was not

Grey Eagle Research Paper
In August 2005, the army awarded a $214 million contract for the development of an extended range
multi purpose unmanned aerial vehicle named the warrior . The ERMP Warrior would have the
longest range of any UAV system then in the army, and its diesel powered air vehicle would eliminate
the need for a special fuel on the battlefield. The air vehicle would have multiple on board weapons
and be capable of loitering over enemy territories for 36 hours at altitudes up to 25,000 ft. The
Synthetic Aperture Radar/Moving Target Indicator (SAR/MTI) was an army acquisition category III

The Gray Eagle offers a reliable, low risk next generation UAS solution to meet challenging
requirements for reconnaissance, surveillance, and target acquisition (RTSA) and attack operations.
The Gray Eagle has an endurance of 25 hours. It has speeds which can reach up to 167 KTAS. It can
operate up to 29,000 feet while carrying 1,075 lb (488 kg) of internal and external payload. The Gray
Eagle can carry multiple payloads, including the Electro Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) with laser
designation, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) communications relay, and four Hellfire missiles. The
Gray Eagle can stay in a combat zone longer than the previous predator drones which supports the
Army s single fuel in the battlefield concept. It provides increased horsepower and significantly
improved fuel efficiency, utilizing either jet or diesel fuel. The Gray Eagle features a fault tolerant
control system and a triple redundant avionics system, similar to the systems integrated in the battle
proven Predator B. Designed with airworthiness as a primary consideration, the Gray Eagle, is
engineered to meet and exceed manned aircraft reliability standards. The Gray Eagle is dedicated to
direct operational control by Army field commanders. Its expansive mission set includes wide area
intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), convoy protection, improvised explosive device
(IED) detection and defeat, close air support, communications relay, and weapons delivery missions.
The Gray Eagle features an automatic takeoff and landing system (ATLS) that allows the aircraft to be
launched and recovered without any operator interaction. The aircraft has successfully conducted tens
of thousands of takeoffs and landings. They are attached to the combat aviation brigade in multiple
divisions throughout the Army. In each division, the Gray Eagle UAVs support the

War on Immigration Essay
This week Obama and his Justice Department declared war on the people of Arizona by filing a
lawsuit in federal court for the unpardonable sin of upholding law and order, practicing self defense,
and seeking relief from the crushing burden of supporting over 460,000 illegal aliens. Arizona, the
biggest gateway into the U.S. for illegal immigration, faces bankruptcy from the increased health care,
education, and welfare costs. Moreover, their citizens face terrorism and murder by illegal aliens.
Every past action and inaction undertaken by the federal government contradicts each other and their
arguments in this lawsuit. What they are saying in the suit is that Arizona is depriving them of their do
nothing policy. In other words, Feds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lawsuit says that comprehensive federal laws already on the books cover illegal immigration If
this is true, why do we need new comprehensive immigration reform? The Mexican government
welcomed the move, saying the Arizona law affects the civil and human rights of thousands of
Mexicans. This comes for a country with some of the most restrictive immigration policies in the
world. Incredibly, Obama is giving Mexico a seat at the Legislative, Judicial, and Executive table in
the enactment, adjudication, and enforcement of American immigration law. Sanctuary cities and
states have violated federal immigration laws for years but ignored because it meshes with Liberal
Progressive doctrine. Conversely, the Arizona law does nothing to violate federal law; rather, it nearly
duplicates the statute and simply requires police to protect American citizens because immigration
authorities refuse to enforce the law. Other very disturbing facts are coming to light with this lawsuit.
For instance, President Obama and Eric Holder s loathing of the American citizens and for a disregard
of the rule of law and American justice. However, more specifically, what was once tacit approval of
the illegal invasion of our country now becomes an overt, blatant, and deliberate violation of the

Shutter Island Theory Essays
A Shutter of Surprise
Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio teamed up in 2006 to bring the world the organized crime
masterpiece, The Departed. The film was a huge success and swept the major awards at the Oscars
that year, bring home such prizes as best picture and best director. The win cemented Scorsese as the
greatest living filmmaker and he finally got the respect he deserves from the Academy. DiCaprio is
one of the best actors of his generation. Titanic, The Aviator, and The Departed areall the evidence
needed to securely place him in the upper pantheon of great actors. Expecting a quality movie from

The script is a very powerful character study exploring what it means to be insane and unraveling our
very concepts of reality. Shutter Island is absolutely gorgeous. The film is definitely Scorsese s most
visually rich work since Raging Bull. The cinematography perfectly mirrors the tone of the story and
is one of the strongest points of the film. The establishing shots are breath taking. They create of the
feeling of grander and adventure with an undertone of mystery and the unknown. The environment
Scorsese creates makes the viewer s skin crawl as effectively as fingernails on the chalkboard. The
score perfectly translates what is going on and further engraves the overall emotion of mystery and
uncertainty into the audiences souls. The dream and hallucination sequences are a treat to the eyes and
are some of the most striking every put on celluloid. Most of the time when a film tries to do one of
these scenes they appear poorly executed and take away from the story. That is not the case with
Shutter Island as theses scenes provide a great story telling technique. They create a haunting feeling
that mirrored to the suspense in reality.
Where Scorsese falters is in the transition between reality and the nightmare world only found in
Teddy s psyche. The switches feel very clunky at times and bring the effect down. The audience can
almost always tell what is real and what is a nightmare. If the director could have created

Notting Hill Interview
In early February of 2017, my eighty six year old grandmother fell and broke her arm in two places.
Since then, she has been in a rehabilitation center called the Notting Hill of West Bloomfield. My
family wanted the best care and recovery for my grandmother. After extensive research, my family
found that Notting Hill was rated very highly for its physical and occupational therapy, and it did.
However, from the first day the my grandmother was there, my grandmother, other family members of
mine, and I noticed an unfortunate phenomenon that still occurs at this facility; patients are not being
taken care of properly by the nurses and aides. There is a poor response time to the help light, there are
many medication errors, there is frequent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In an interview with PBS, A.C. Thompson discusses his findings when he investigated a prestigious
living facility with high ratings: There was a pattern of problems that spanned the country. And what
we kept seeing were allegations and citations for a lack of staffing, not enough workers, a lack of
training, workers who weren t trained enough, medication errors, people getting the wrong drugs over
and over again. These were the kind of things that we saw, and these were the things that worried us
about the industry as it evolves. This description of his findings are very consistent with experiences I
have personally witnessed. Like my mother, Thompson talks poorly trained staff and the miniscule
amount of staff. These factors are what allow for such poor care in these facilities that happen around
the country.
In this interview, Thompson voices concern for the future of assisted living. The PBS interview
supports my claim that there is an inability to properly take care of patients in living facilities, and that
it is dangerous to elderly people or those with disadvantages. One way in which Thompson
strengthens my claim is through his use of the word pattern. This word shows how common these
problems are across the country in assisted living facilities. These problems that he witnessed are
dangerous and, as he put it,

A Observation Of My Observation
Lightbox:
At the beginning of my observation, the lightbox was a center that always had a child in it. The
children do spend a significant amount of time (about 10 minutes or more) in this center, building
things that are color see through. However, whoever was in this center spends a large amount of time
in it, since it s a small space as well it s limited to two children at a time. It gets less attention than the
other centers in the room. Later on in the end, of my observation period, it got less attention. I believe
it was a result of newer things that were introduced in the classroom that took the attention away from
this center. Another issue, it s located in an area that s almost hidden away in the back of the room in a
corner. The children would have to get through the other centers or areas on the way to the Lightbox.
It could be possible the children s interest changes on the way there seeing another child playing in
another center that looks more appealing. I would recommend changing the material in this center
weekly or bring in new materials to freshen up the center and to renew interests from the children.
Sensory:
This area always has at least one child at it at all times. The children really enjoyed feeling things with
their hands. The times that the sensory area was less populated depended on the materials that were
used in the sensory tub. When it was things like small toy balls, baking pans, and tongs it was a dry
and clean activity. When it s an

Loneliness And Isolation
In Winesburg, Ohio by Sherwood Anderson, the author creatively develops the story of different
individuals living in Ohio at the turn of the century. The wide multitude of characters developed
throughout the twenty four stories in the complete piece, all have lives slightly deformed by the
loneliness and isolation they feel. His unique characterization by uniting the seemingly different
stories through a common theme create an intense impact as a whole that immerses the reader in the
peculiar lives of the community s inhabitants. The first story, The Book of the Grotesque, serves as a
prologue to the story, even though it is not addressed as such. The main character, a nameless elderly
writer, describes his visions of these different individuals in relation to his theory about ... Show more

The reader by the end of the piece can assume that each story is drawn from a character of this
unnamed author. This first story introduces many of the common themes to be included throughout the
story including isolation and lives corrupted by loneliness, as characterized by the author through the
narrator. In the story Surrender, the characterization of Louise Bentley encompasses the carried theme
of loneliness. Not only is Louise somewhat alienated from her family due to her lack of relationship
with her father, she is stuck in a failing marriage due to her impulsive craving for love at a young age.
We see her character turned bitter and angry as a result of her life choices. The reader essentially
experiences a slice of each character s life, in an effort to understand how their particular isolation has
impacted their life. In a story later in Winesburg, Loneliness, we see a character affected by his
loneliness to the point of near

Food From The Sea Chapter 1 Summary
Australia has small crystals that enables scientist map out earths existence; they are called Zircons.
The earth began as dust. The planet was extremely hot at first and without a certain collusion it would
not be what it is today. A planet with four seasons and with tides in the ocean from the moon. At first,
there were no continents they would come along later, so it was mostly water. Next, single cell
organisms and photosynthesis would start creating oxygen. In fact, oxygen was so abundant it froze
most the planet. Eventually, oxygen would lead the planet to multicellularity. Life would come and go
many times over the course of time. This would be causes by catastrophic events, but life would
always be resilient. All life evolved from the sea.
This chapter tells us how the earth formed and all of the different cycles it went through to get where it
is today. It goes on to illustrate the beginning of life from single cell to multi cell. How life would end
and then come back with different creatures each time.

A Brief Note On The Second World War
Project HERS
The Second World War began four years ago, with Adolf Hitler s Holocaust starting but two years into
it. Under his regime, anti Semitism was and still is the law no man, woman, and child of lesser Aryan
blood can live, and his reasons for the persecution of such people are still widely debated. However,
there is a possible solution: Sigmund Freud and his theories. One of his theories suggests a division of
the human psyche into three parts: the superego, ego, and id. These Freudian terms and their functions
form the basis of the project HERS.
To understand HERS, you must be acquainted with a condition linked directly to it, Dissociative
Identity Disorder. DID is present and latent in every individual from the day they are ... Show more

To make a moot point, it is even debatable whether HERS is a hereditary condition or not.
The only other explanation for Hitler s reasons behind the Holocaust, other than the stab in the back
myth , is that he is a HERS acting under the influence of his id. Where there is dislike and revulsion,
the id fans the flames into those of hatred. Where there is pride, the id makes it unquenchable and
unreasonable. To win this war, the Allies need to break one of the links in the Axis military alliance
Germany and its dictator, Adolf Hitler.

All that was planned came to fruition today. The village of Imber on the Salisbury Plain was evacuated
yesterday to be used as a training site for the British. The children, still in their seats when the
evacuation was conducted, were swept away to Palmyra Atoll as planned. All of the inhabitants had
been evacuated a year ago due to the war, and any traces of civilization were easily erased. It was the
ideal setting for Project HERS, in not only its isolative setting, but the surroundings. With some
coconut palm trees and a drift of pigs as sustenance, the boys would be forced to be conservative in
their use of their environment.
The eighteen boys chosen had latent DID switches from what was observed so far through their
profiles. However, there were three possible methods in which the DID switch could be awakened.

Virginia Axline s Theory Of Person Centered Theory
Feelings and thoughts about the theory Person Centered Theory stands out amongst the multitude of
theories developed to help improve the lives of individuals. Carl Rogers was the pioneer of Person
Centered Theory, which was the basis for Virginia Axline s development of Child Centered Play
Therapy. Immediately, I felt a connection as I began learning about the principles of Person Centered
Theory. The introduction to this theory led me to discover the work of Virginia Axline. My interest in
counseling children was reinforced by the fundamental elements of play therapy. Further, the story of
Dibs engendered hope and enthusiasm for the possibility that this could be the theory from which I
work. The humanistic perspective is noteworthy, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the stories that his mother shared with Axline were insightful and I began to feel empathy
for her. My anger towards his parents never fully dissolved; though my feelings of jubilation prevailed
as Dibs progressed and improved. The success of play therapy achieved in the end was uplifting.
Throughout the story, my emotions were on a roller coaster. I was engrossed in the techniques of
Axline s approach and the gradual development of Dibs personality. His improvement was evident and
I felt joyous each time he demonstrated strength and hope. In the beginning, Dibs was resistant to
leaving the Child Guidance Center because he feared going home to an emotionally absent
environment. Soon, he began accepting the fact that when the hour ended he had to leave. An
endearing moment happened when Dibs told Axline that he would return the following Thursday to
fill up again with happiness (Axline, 1964, p. 133). The playroom was a special place where Dibs
could express himself without limitation, and his liberation was refreshing.
Key points gathered about the theorist s point of view Virginia Axline s work in Child Centered Play
Therapy stemmed from the Person Centered theoretical orientation of Carl Rogers. She shared the
perspective in which the value of the therapeutic nature is derived from the recognition by the
individual as a capable being and the realization of responsibility. A desired goal of therapy is
understanding, which

Sports have become the new religion in America Essays
In America, despite the number of people who attend church and participate in religious activities, you
could assume sports are the new religion. There s the seasonal NASCAR on Sundays and Monday
night football, but most sports such as, baseball, basketball, soccer, and hockey hold their events on
any given day of the week. Many Americans arrange their schedules to either attend or watch these
events on television. You could even go so far as to say Americans idolize athletes and sports stars,
considering the billions of dollars spent on sporting events and merchandise. We?re very proud of
sports and proudly wear our favorite team or player across our chests, on our heads, and display logos
on our cars and in our houses. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Super bowl Sunday has become an unofficial holiday, on which many people miss church to watch. In
attempts to encourage people to attend church on this day, churches are having super bowl parties that
many people would rather not go to because of the lack of alcohol. There are many people who don?t
attend church at all during football season. A number of people even tithe their sport. Not in the
traditional offering that you would give in church, but through ticket sale, merchandise, and
concessions at events. The NCAA Basketball play offs held their second round games on Easter
Sunday. Statistics say, in addition to the people who go to church regularly, about twenty percent more
of the population shows up at church on Easter Sunday. I believe it?d be fair to say that religion won
over sports that day. Sports have become extremely important in public schools throughout America.
Children are being pushed by parents, coaches, peers, and in some cases, teachers to excel in sports.
Hours upon hours a week are spent practicing for some form of competition. Years ago, all this time
was spent with family, at church, or a combination of both. For example, how many times in the past

Hospital Information Systems Integration Plan
HOSPITAL INFORMATION SYSTEMS INTEGRATION PLAN SYSTEM PERESPECTIVE
Abstract: Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is playing a vital role in every aspect of
life; and has drastically contributed in the health sector as well. It s generally agreed that the
development and use of integrated healthcare systems are becoming an absolute necessity to support
the delivery of low cost, high quality care [1]. To achieve this goal; Planning of Information System is
one of the most significant activities for Information System attainment in a large organization. This
paper presents the information systems integration plan for Hospitals operating under the Directorate
of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK). The main objective of the System integration is to specify
techniques to link all databases of different sub systems in DHSK so that the information interchange
between the sub systems is seamless. The plan shall be accomplished by applying the methodology
consisting of four steps: requirement analysis, conceptual design, systems architecture design and
system implementation. As the results of design, the databases shall definitely share many identical
data items. The presence of identical data items will allow the information update in batch processing
and will facilitate to design a common physical layer. Thus, a common XML based database
implementation along with shared assemblies is recommended to implement the databases with
identical data items, whereas, private

What Is The Mood Of The Hot Zone
Our time is up far exceeded my expectations. It was funny and heartwarming all in a short amount of
time. Exposition. Shots of routine everyday events are what first introduce us to the main character.
Shots of his alarm clock going off at 7 am. How he gently turns off the alarm and goes to his closet of
perfectly spaced identical shirts. His ties and shoes are perfectly organized. At 7:15 exactly he brews
his coffee. When he goes to get the paper, the gardener tells him, Morning Dr. Stern, I added some
new plants . With which he responds Yeah without turning around. He essentially ignored him because
it is not part of his routine. While drinking his coffee, a shot of him reading National Psychologist
helps us conclude that he is a doctor of psychology. Everything in his house is perfectly arranged,
even his morning paper is perfectly parallel with his placemat. Everything about the exposition
introduces him as a man very set in his ways and who does not like to stray from routine or
organization. The inciting incident occurs when a newly licensed Dr. Gardenschwartz calls him to get
some advice and to ask how Dr. Stern handles his own doctor patient relationships. This first
introduces the plot because Dr. Stern answers him saying, All in due time and hangs up on the other
practitioner. This simultaneously implies that Dr. Stern is somewhat rude, and secondly, follows his
life and practice with the idea that everything will work itself out All in due time . This

Difference Between Prehistory And Pre History
First Long Exam
1. History vs Prehistory
a. What is prehistory and how is this concept or term defined?
Prehistory is a discipline where it composed of series of events happened during the time where
writing was not yet used to record those events. The word itself means before history for it is
associated with the prefix pre which means before yet it was really the combination of the Latin word
prae that means before and the Greek word ιστορία which means history. These are the events that
happened in times where in writing was not yet used to record these events. Events are just based on
either being told, predicted or believed by the people from long time ago and evidences of this events
came from excavation of fossils and discovery of materials in places believed to be the place inhibited

At present, how good are we in knowing and understanding our country s history? What is lacking in
the study of Philippine history and what should be done to improve our grasp of our own history?
Who or what is/are at fault in the continuous failure of the Philippines in correcting many of the errors
in the writing of its history?
Honestly speaking, most of us do not pay attention to the history of our country resulting to less
understanding about it. Philippine History need to be understood and should be thought by the ones
who understands it. Our failure is that we just let anybody tell the history of the Philippines without
fully understanding the History. This results to passing the wrong information about the history of the
Philippines to others and a lot of versions of history that made the History of the Philippines

Breakaway s messages to the public stem from their purpose. Message points include a) Believe in
Jesus Christ and b) Get Connected to a Church. The content of these message points isn t shocking
knowing that growth is what is principal to Breakaway. What is striking is how well Breakaway does
at getting their points across. Every week Timothy Ateek encourages students to begin a personal
relationship with Jesus. Breakaway offers bibles to students, encouraging them to embrace
Christianity. Breakaway s Connect Team is a group of volunteers dedicated to connecting students to

This may include providing refugees with basic items, freeing sex trafficked women, or providing the
message of Christianity to people who are receiving free medical care because of Aggies generosity.
These actions allow Breakaway to branch out of its normal audience and mission. Breakaway also
creates more volunteers for itself by presenting a fun and enjoyable outlet for community service.
Those volunteers keep Breakaway running and come straight from the audience Breakaway creates.
They are arguably the best result of the mutually beneficial relationship.
However, Breakaway s MBRs extend further than just the college students. The staff at Breakaway
rely on the reputation their volunteers and the organization itself holds within the university to
maintain other relationships as well. Their cooperation and support of Silver Taps (which always
occurs immediately following Breakaway across campus), the Texas A M Basketball program, and all
the facility staff they come into contact with allow Breakaway the privilege to take place in venues
across campus, some of them unprecedented. Only possible through the maintenance of relationships
over time, Breakaway has built quite a network for itself.
Breakaway s publicity strategy would lead any audience member to believe that the personal
reputation of the organization, and not the publicity tactics it uses, will be what determines the

Social Class in the United States Essay
There is much debate about the issue of social class in the United States. There are arguments about
whether social classes are distinctly separate or fluid, dependent upon one s community or society as a
whole, and if they are subjective or objective (Hughes and Jenkins). However, despite the debate
surrounding social classes, it is still important to try to define them and analyze their effects, as they
are such an important part of our identity and our opportunities in society. Although our society has
tried to appear as though we have no classes, and it is becoming harder to tell what class someone is in
by material goods, classes do still exist today (Scott and Leonhardt). The trend has been to divide the
U.S. into four major ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite the debates about social class, the United States is usually described as having four major
social classes, the elite or upperclass, the middle class, the working class, and the lower class
(Goldscmidt). Classes are generally differentiated by income, education, and occupation although
other factors do have an effect. The upperclass consists of about 1% of the population making 750,000
dollars or more a year as investors, top executives, or heirs to large fortunes (Hughes and Jenkins).
There tends to be no question about who is in the upperclass as they are pretty clearly isolated in their
power and wealth. The middle class makes up about 40% of the population making anywhere from
40,000 to 749,999 dollars a year (Hughes and Jenkins). The large disparity in income and wealth have
led to a further division of this class into upper middle class and middle class in some circles. The
middle class usually work white collar jobs as professionals and managers, however some highly
skilled blue collar workers are included. Those in the middle class have usually obtained higher
education degrees and place a high value on individual responsibility for one s class (Goldschmidt).
The working class is composed of about 50% of the population earning 13,000 to 39,000 dollars a
year (Hughes and Jenkins). Some also divide this class into a working class and a

How Do Family And Personal Issues Affect Leadership...

home. So what happens when the family and personal life is out of balance? Can it be linked to
unethical behaviors at the workplace in leaders? Personal and family stresses can have an effect on
leadership decision and critical thinking. If leadership or employees are dealing with family and
personal issues outside of work, it can be difficult to manage workplace problems in sound and

A good leader must have a sense of control to self identify when those stresses may be influencing
leadership performance and make an immediate correction to maintain personal and work
cohesiveness. Leaders are responsible for making swift action and decisions that can affect the overall
organizational goal achievement (Joosten, van Dijke, Van Hiel De Cremer, 2014). This information
does not suggest avoiding stress would cure all; instead suggest self control can limit the stress level to
a managerial control, allowing leaders to perform at optimum efficiency which will lower the
possibility of leader acting in an unethical manner. This type of stress can be managed and dealt with
accordingly. What about those unforeseen stressors that may affect leadership?

Essay on Soviet Propaganda
Soviet Propaganda
The soviet communist party, or the Bolsheviks, always new that strong propaganda was essential to
increase the consciousness of the masses. As stated in the Encyclopedia of Propaganda, propaganda
was central to Marxist Leninist ideology long before the Bolshevik revolution of 1917. (675) The
power of persuasion and coercion were exercised with great force by Soviet leaders. The two leaders
whom utilized propaganda to influence public opinion in the USSR were Vladimir Lenin and Joseph
Stalin. Both men used many different facets of the media to spread their propaganda. They also used
the troubled social climate along with the ignorance of the masses to custom tailor a regime that lasted
for over seven decades. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lenin said, The struggle of the Russian working class for it s liberation is a political struggle, and it s
goal is the attainment of political liberty. (Pipes 45) Lenin used this form of propaganda, agitprop, to
convey the need of a total reformation of Russia s government. He knew that this form of propaganda
would work best. Propaganda of agitation, being the most visible and widespread attracts all the
attention. (Ellul 71) In his agitative propaganda Lenin cited specific enemies, or scapegoats namely,
The Mensheviks. Along with the Mensheviks, or whites as they were called, the soviets expressed
outright hatred of the western world and it s ways. Soviet propagandists created the idea that the
western capitalist civilization was falling behind, as the superior socialists marched forward. Soviet
artists and intellectuals were ordered to create propaganda material that portrayed this idea of a weak
and inferior western world. The soviets official ideology was that they needed to gain complete
control of all aspects of communication. Lenin embraced the idea of agitative propaganda that was
introduced earlier by Georgi Plekhanov. Since the Soviet union was founded in 1920 there was an
official department of agitprop. This department worked directly through schools, publications and the
broadcast media. (Encyclopedia of propaganda 17) Part of Lenin s strategy

Summary Of The Fan-Celebrity Relationship In Johnny Cash
5.1 Introduction
In the preceding quotation, Patsy draws our attention to the fan celebrity relationship, in this instance,
with Johnny Cash. Although several fans in my sample share her sentiment that Cash is similar to a
member of their family Patsy places him in even higher esteem than do other fans. I isolate this
example in the introduction to this chapter because of its mention that Johnny Cash, for Patsy, is not a
god, but, as she says, he s pretty much the next thing to it. Fandom as religion literature maintains a
tendency to bridge the gap between Patsy and God, by referring to the celebrity as a mediator or
redeemer figure, in some cases, literally, and in others it is a metaphorical rendering. It is accurate to
write the celebrity performs certain mediation for the fan; celebrities, through their image, mediate
fans hopes and desires, but also more mundane ways fans interpret their world, such as the examples
illustrated in Chapter 4. For Fandom as religion scholars, however, celebrities such as Elvis Presley
and Cliff Richards mediate more sacred, rather than quotidian, concerns. In Fandom as religion
literature, the sacred is set apart and protected from everyday banality, and through universe
maintenance, such as the shrine building described by Doss in the chapter Saint Elvis, places the
celebrity on a sacred pedestal. Other than such connotation, the celebrity as sacred figure is a poorly
defined entity in Fandom as Religion literature (see Doss 1999;

How Did The Media Affect The Anti War Movement
The Vietnam conflict was the first war involving the United States to have a heavy media presence,
taking pictures and writing down everything. This media presence allowed for the anti war movement
to have ammunition to fight their own battle, the battle against the war. Without the media s enormous
involvement the Vietnam Conflict may have been much different. The views of the average person
were definitely affected by the images the media presented to them for the first time. The soldiers
could have had a much different homecoming as well as the overall view of the war. The anti war
movement did have a reasonable basis and wanted change. They felt as citizens they were being taken

Movements for change happen when the citizens of a nation join together to fight for what they want
and believe in. Many did not want to be involved in a war where there was not a clear reasoning for
going to war. The antiwar movement actually consisted of a number of independent interests, often
only vaguely allied and contesting each other on many issues, united only in opposition to the Vietnam
War. The movement was able to pick up steam and attract new people from all over the country when
the bombings of Cambodia and North Vietnam intensified. With the images and depictions of the war
pouring in and more soldier dying the movement was able to gain traction. The first American protests
against the United States intervention in Vietnam took place in 1963, the antiwar movement did not
begin in earnest until nearly two years later, when President Lyndon B. Johnson ordered massive U.S.
military intervention and the sustained bombing of North Vietnam. These protests came in a time
when movements for change were happening all over the country from the women s rights movement
to the civil rights movement. The tactics by the anti war protester were diverse: legal demonstrations,
grassroots organizing, congressional lobbying, electoral challenges, civil disobedience, draft
resistance, self immolations, political

Media Bias In The Media
The influence that the media has cannot be doubted by anyone. The media plays a very vital role in
our criminal justice system today. According to the text, Most people gain their knowledge of events
from the media, and therefore the selection and shaping of news by the media is a critical element in
forming and modeling the public opinion on most topics, including criminal justice. The media
decides what is noteworthy, and crime ranks high on that scale. (Banks, 2013) The public s view of
casualties, lawbreakers, deviants, and law enforcement officials is to a great extent dictated by their
depiction in the mass media. Crime in America is big news that is of significant concern to the
American public. In a 1997 national survey conducted by the Roper Center in conjunction with the
Newseum of Arlington, Virginia, 95% of 1,500 respondents said they want to know about crime, a
higher response rate than for any other topic, including local news, the environment, and world news.
(Parade Magazine 1997, 4) The goal of the media is to report the truth at all times. Reporting the truth
to the public is fundamental to the role of the media in society as well as a moral responsibility of the
media (Klaidman and Beauchamp 1987:30). (Banks, 2013) With reporting news stories, one need to
make sure that biasness does not occur. Is media bias essentially an issue? The impact of media bias
depends on how the group of onlookers forms the data displayed by the media. Media have huge

Satire In The Entertainment Industry
Why is it that people are so attracted to all forms of entertainment? Is there a greater purpose behind
all those hours spent glued to screens? In the media, satirical entertainment has emerged as a force
revealing truths. Merriam Webster defines satire as a literary work holding up human vices and follies
to ridicule or scorn . The role of satire in the entertainment industry is to expose the weaknesses and
corruption in society. Entertainment does not have the capacity to ruin society; entertainment simply
reflects society because it engages and appeals to the common experiences of the audience.
Throughout civilization, entertainment is used to reveal the true nature of individuals. It can only be
assumed that those who object to satirical forms of entertainment must have faults that they fear will
be brought to light. Prominent figures in the nineteenth and twentieth century despised satire. Rulers
during those times were cautious of entertainment dissolving the ties of our social order through
citizens recognizing the corruption around them and rebelling. A form of entertainment that has been
around for centuries is the political cartoon. Political cartoons utilize parody and caricature in an effort
to interest and educate an audience. Throughout history, these cartoons have been used to ... Show

  • 2. Ophelia Character Analysis In the play, Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, Ophelia, the daughter of Polonius, is seen as a fair maiden who wants her love with Hamlet to be eternal. Due to the many warnings from her father Polonius and her brother Laertes, she succumbs to her father s wishes and plays the role of a good daughter, thus betraying Hamlet. Previously in the play where Hamlet gives his soliloquy on life and death, Ophelia has been ordered to break off her relationship with Hamlet while Polonius eavesdrops to prove that Hamlet has truly gone mad. As a result of Hamlet s supposed madness and Ophelia s docile character during the confrontation, both of their fragile hearts shatter and Ophelia begins her dark descent into madness, leading to her eventual death. Throughout acts one and two of the play, Ophelia in Hamlet s eyes is seen as one of the only fair and trustworthy outliers in the array of deception. After his soliloquy about life and death with its dark and apathetic tone, there is a shift when Ophelia is in his presence. As Hamlet realizes his beloved is approaching, he commands himself, Soft you now! to make sure Ophelia does not hear what he is saying as if not to corrupt this beauty from heaven (Shakespeare III.i.86). His mood perks up and the tone of his words become more endearing when he calls her a Nymph (III.i.87). Shakespeare s diction here further builds upon how the audience sees their relationship. The positive connotation of this word puts Ophelia on a pedestal while ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Simulation Swot Analysis Week Two Journal This week s key learning areas have definitely taught me patience and perseverance. My experience in the Simulation has trained me to be consistent in my routine while learning the mechanics to develop a strategy. The SWOT analysis is a brainstorming tool that has developed my thought process throughout navigating the game. It is crucial to create a sequence during the Simulation to gain total control of your production. Also, learning from the mistakes that I have made has allowed me to reevaluate my approach and performance. There were two questions posed in our case study: How many weeks would it take to produce an order of 1200 White Socks?; and How many weeks would it take to produce an order of 1200 Polo Shirts? These key areas will be discussed throughout the journal to express my understanding of the experience. Discussion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The strengths include, checking the materials and quality needed before bidding on contracts, bidding on contracts that were similar with my reputation level, which allowed me to increase my winning capabilities. Weaknesses include, not having all of the equipment on the production floor to fulfill contracts that were offered, and having to begin at a lower reputation level, which limited my selection of contracts. Opportunities that were presented allowed me to strategize by bidding and winning contracts, which caused me to gain a higher reputation. When I achieved the higher reputation level I exceeded my expectations and won higher paying contracts. Finally, the threats seen throughout the game simulation was not having enough time to order product as well as having the item produced on higher paying bids that have a shorter time span to be completed, which shows me that not having all the machines could produce time issues. Also, ordering in bulk produced excess inventory that was not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Grey Eagle Research Paper In August 2005, the army awarded a $214 million contract for the development of an extended range multi purpose unmanned aerial vehicle named the warrior . The ERMP Warrior would have the longest range of any UAV system then in the army, and its diesel powered air vehicle would eliminate the need for a special fuel on the battlefield. The air vehicle would have multiple on board weapons and be capable of loitering over enemy territories for 36 hours at altitudes up to 25,000 ft. The Synthetic Aperture Radar/Moving Target Indicator (SAR/MTI) was an army acquisition category III program. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Gray Eagle offers a reliable, low risk next generation UAS solution to meet challenging requirements for reconnaissance, surveillance, and target acquisition (RTSA) and attack operations. The Gray Eagle has an endurance of 25 hours. It has speeds which can reach up to 167 KTAS. It can operate up to 29,000 feet while carrying 1,075 lb (488 kg) of internal and external payload. The Gray Eagle can carry multiple payloads, including the Electro Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) with laser designation, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) communications relay, and four Hellfire missiles. The Gray Eagle can stay in a combat zone longer than the previous predator drones which supports the Army s single fuel in the battlefield concept. It provides increased horsepower and significantly improved fuel efficiency, utilizing either jet or diesel fuel. The Gray Eagle features a fault tolerant control system and a triple redundant avionics system, similar to the systems integrated in the battle proven Predator B. Designed with airworthiness as a primary consideration, the Gray Eagle, is engineered to meet and exceed manned aircraft reliability standards. The Gray Eagle is dedicated to direct operational control by Army field commanders. Its expansive mission set includes wide area intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), convoy protection, improvised explosive device (IED) detection and defeat, close air support, communications relay, and weapons delivery missions. The Gray Eagle features an automatic takeoff and landing system (ATLS) that allows the aircraft to be launched and recovered without any operator interaction. The aircraft has successfully conducted tens of thousands of takeoffs and landings. They are attached to the combat aviation brigade in multiple divisions throughout the Army. • 6. War on Immigration Essay This week Obama and his Justice Department declared war on the people of Arizona by filing a lawsuit in federal court for the unpardonable sin of upholding law and order, practicing self defense, and seeking relief from the crushing burden of supporting over 460,000 illegal aliens. Arizona, the biggest gateway into the U.S. for illegal immigration, faces bankruptcy from the increased health care, education, and welfare costs. Moreover, their citizens face terrorism and murder by illegal aliens. Every past action and inaction undertaken by the federal government contradicts each other and their arguments in this lawsuit. What they are saying in the suit is that Arizona is depriving them of their do nothing policy. In other words, Feds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The lawsuit says that comprehensive federal laws already on the books cover illegal immigration If this is true, why do we need new comprehensive immigration reform? The Mexican government welcomed the move, saying the Arizona law affects the civil and human rights of thousands of Mexicans. This comes for a country with some of the most restrictive immigration policies in the world. Incredibly, Obama is giving Mexico a seat at the Legislative, Judicial, and Executive table in the enactment, adjudication, and enforcement of American immigration law. Sanctuary cities and states have violated federal immigration laws for years but ignored because it meshes with Liberal Progressive doctrine. Conversely, the Arizona law does nothing to violate federal law; rather, it nearly duplicates the statute and simply requires police to protect American citizens because immigration authorities refuse to enforce the law. Other very disturbing facts are coming to light with this lawsuit. For instance, President Obama and Eric Holder s loathing of the American citizens and for a disregard of the rule of law and American justice. However, more specifically, what was once tacit approval of the illegal invasion of our country now becomes an overt, blatant, and deliberate violation of the Constitutional ... The film was a huge success and swept the major awards at the Oscars that year, bring home such prizes as best picture and best director. The win cemented Scorsese as the greatest living filmmaker and he finally got the respect he deserves from the Academy. DiCaprio is one of the best actors of his generation. Titanic, The Aviator, and The Departed areall the evidence needed to securely place him in the upper pantheon of great actors. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The script is a very powerful character study exploring what it means to be insane and unraveling our very concepts of reality. Shutter Island is absolutely gorgeous. The film is definitely Scorsese s most visually rich work since Raging Bull. The cinematography perfectly mirrors the tone of the story and is one of the strongest points of the film. The establishing shots are breath taking. They create of the feeling of grander and adventure with an undertone of mystery and the unknown. The environment Scorsese creates makes the viewer s skin crawl as effectively as fingernails on the chalkboard. The score perfectly translates what is going on and further engraves the overall emotion of mystery and uncertainty into the audiences souls. The dream and hallucination sequences are a treat to the eyes and are some of the most striking every put on celluloid. Most of the time when a film tries to do one of these scenes they appear poorly executed and take away from the story. That is not the case with Shutter Island as theses scenes provide a great story telling technique. They create a haunting feeling that mirrored to the suspense in reality. Where Scorsese falters is in the transition between reality and the nightmare world only found in Teddy s psyche. The switches feel very clunky at times and bring the effect down. The audience can almost always tell what is real and what is a nightmare. If the director could have created ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since then, she has been in a rehabilitation center called the Notting Hill of West Bloomfield. My family wanted the best care and recovery for my grandmother. After extensive research, my family found that Notting Hill was rated very highly for its physical and occupational therapy, and it did. However, from the first day the my grandmother was there, my grandmother, other family members of mine, and I noticed an unfortunate phenomenon that still occurs at this facility; patients are not being taken care of properly by the nurses and aides. Thompson discusses his findings when he investigated a prestigious living facility with high ratings: There was a pattern of problems that spanned the country. And what we kept seeing were allegations and citations for a lack of staffing, not enough workers, a lack of training, workers who weren t trained enough, medication errors, people getting the wrong drugs over and over again. These were the kind of things that we saw, and these were the things that worried us about the industry as it evolves. This description of his findings are very consistent with experiences I have personally witnessed. Like my mother, Thompson talks poorly trained staff and the miniscule amount of staff. These factors are what allow for such poor care in these facilities that happen around the country. In this interview, Thompson voices concern for the future of assisted living. The PBS interview supports my claim that there is an inability to properly take care of patients in living facilities, and that it is dangerous to elderly people or those with disadvantages. The children do spend a significant amount of time (about 10 minutes or more) in this center, building things that are color see through. However, whoever was in this center spends a large amount of time in it, since it s a small space as well it s limited to two children at a time. It gets less attention than the other centers in the room. Later on in the end, of my observation period, it got less attention. I believe it was a result of newer things that were introduced in the classroom that took the attention away from this center. Another issue, it s located in an area that s almost hidden away in the back of the room in a corner. The children would have to get through the other centers or areas on the way to the Lightbox. It could be possible the children s interest changes on the way there seeing another child playing in another center that looks more appealing. I would recommend changing the material in this center weekly or bring in new materials to freshen up the center and to renew interests from the children. As stated in the Encyclopedia of Propaganda, propaganda was central to Marxist Leninist ideology long before the Bolshevik revolution of 1917. (675) The power of persuasion and coercion were exercised with great force by Soviet leaders. Lenin said, The struggle of the Russian working class for it s liberation is a political struggle, and it s goal is the attainment of political liberty. (Pipes 45) Lenin used this form of propaganda, agitprop, to convey the need of a total reformation of Russia s government. He knew that this form of propaganda would work best. Propaganda of agitation, being the most visible and widespread attracts all the attention. (Ellul 71) In his agitative propaganda Lenin cited specific enemies, or scapegoats namely, The Mensheviks. Along with the Mensheviks, or whites as they were called, the soviets expressed outright hatred of the western world and it s ways. Soviet propagandists created the idea that the western capitalist civilization was falling behind, as the superior socialists marched forward. Soviet artists and intellectuals were ordered to create propaganda material that portrayed this idea of a weak and inferior western world. The soviets official ideology was that they needed to gain complete control of all aspects of communication. Lenin embraced the idea of agitative propaganda that was introduced earlier by Georgi Plekhanov. Since the Soviet union was founded in 1920 there was an official department of agitprop. This department worked directly through schools, publications and the broadcast media. (Encyclopedia of propaganda 17) Part of Lenin s strategy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Summary Of The Fan-Celebrity Relationship In Johnny Cash 5.1 Introduction In the preceding quotation, Patsy draws our attention to the fan celebrity relationship, in this instance, with Johnny Cash. Although several fans in my sample share her sentiment that Cash is similar to a member of their family Patsy places him in even higher esteem than do other fans. I isolate this example in the introduction to this chapter because of its mention that Johnny Cash, for Patsy, is not a god, but, as she says, he s pretty much the next thing to it. Fandom as religion literature maintains a tendency to bridge the gap between Patsy and God, by referring to the celebrity as a mediator or redeemer figure, in some cases, literally, and in others it is a metaphorical rendering. It is accurate to write the celebrity performs certain mediation for the fan; celebrities, through their image, mediate fans hopes and desires, but also more mundane ways fans interpret their world, such as the examples illustrated in Chapter 4. For Fandom as religion scholars, however, celebrities such as Elvis Presley and Cliff Richards mediate more sacred, rather than quotidian, concerns. In Fandom as religion literature, the sacred is set apart and protected from everyday banality, and through universe maintenance, such as the shrine building described by Doss in the chapter Saint Elvis, places the celebrity on a sacred pedestal. Other than such connotation, the celebrity as sacred figure is a poorly defined entity in Fandom as Religion literature (see Doss 1999; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. How Did The Media Affect The Anti War Movement The Vietnam conflict was the first war involving the United States to have a heavy media presence, taking pictures and writing down everything. This media presence allowed for the anti war movement to have ammunition to fight their own battle, the battle against the war. Without the media s enormous involvement the Vietnam Conflict may have been much different. The views of the average person were definitely affected by the images the media presented to them for the first time. The soldiers could have had a much different homecoming as well as the overall view of the war. The anti war movement did have a reasonable basis and wanted change. They felt as citizens they were being taken advantage of and forced to do something they did not want ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Movements for change happen when the citizens of a nation join together to fight for what they want and believe in. Many did not want to be involved in a war where there was not a clear reasoning for going to war. The antiwar movement actually consisted of a number of independent interests, often only vaguely allied and contesting each other on many issues, united only in opposition to the Vietnam War. The movement was able to pick up steam and attract new people from all over the country when the bombings of Cambodia and North Vietnam intensified. With the images and depictions of the war pouring in and more soldier dying the movement was able to gain traction. The first American protests against the United States intervention in Vietnam took place in 1963, the antiwar movement did not begin in earnest until nearly two years later, when President Lyndon B. Johnson ordered massive U.S. military intervention and the sustained bombing of North Vietnam. These protests came in a time when movements for change were happening all over the country from the women s rights movement to the civil rights movement. The tactics by the anti war protester were diverse: legal demonstrations, grassroots organizing, congressional lobbying, electoral challenges, civil disobedience, draft resistance, self immolations, political ... • 33. Media Bias In The Media The influence that the media has cannot be doubted by anyone. The media plays a very vital role in our criminal justice system today. According to the text, Most people gain their knowledge of events from the media, and therefore the selection and shaping of news by the media is a critical element in forming and modeling the public opinion on most topics, including criminal justice. The media decides what is noteworthy, and crime ranks high on that scale. (Banks, 2013) The public s view of casualties, lawbreakers, deviants, and law enforcement officials is to a great extent dictated by their depiction in the mass media. Crime in America is big news that is of significant concern to the American public. In a 1997 national survey conducted by the Roper Center in conjunction with the Newseum of Arlington, Virginia, 95% of 1,500 respondents said they want to know about crime, a higher response rate than for any other topic, including local news, the environment, and world news. (Parade Magazine 1997, 4) The goal of the media is to report the truth at all times. Reporting the truth to the public is fundamental to the role of the media in society as well as a moral responsibility of the media (Klaidman and Beauchamp 1987:30). (Banks, 2013) With reporting news stories, one need to make sure that biasness does not occur. Is media bias essentially an issue? • 34. Satire In The Entertainment Industry Why is it that people are so attracted to all forms of entertainment? Is there a greater purpose behind all those hours spent glued to screens? In the media, satirical entertainment has emerged as a force revealing truths. Merriam Webster defines satire as a literary work holding up human vices and follies to ridicule or scorn . The role of satire in the entertainment industry is to expose the weaknesses and corruption in society. Entertainment does not have the capacity to ruin society; entertainment simply reflects society because it engages and appeals to the common experiences of the audience. Throughout civilization, entertainment is used to reveal the true nature of individuals. It can only be assumed that those who object to satirical forms of entertainment must have faults that they fear will be brought to light. Prominent figures in the nineteenth and twentieth century despised satire. Rulers during those times were cautious of entertainment dissolving the ties of our social order through citizens recognizing the corruption around them and rebelling. A form of entertainment that has been around for centuries is the political cartoon. Political cartoons utilize parody and caricature in an effort to interest and educate an audience.
