Shakespeare s A Streetcar Named Desire
Masquerades and Sexuality in A Streetcar Named Desire Masks conceal the truth from the
people who look at them. They use color, designs, and frills to hide the flaws beneath. In
literature, stage, and film, we see characters wearing masks all the time, just not always in a
literal sense. The most complex and intriguing characters wear these kinds of masks, to hide
their own flaws and scars from the outside world. In A Streetcar Named Desire, almost every
character has a mask they wear, to conceal the truth from the people around them. One of the
easier masks to see is Blanche s, as she struggles with her past and present. She hides her past
from everyone to maintain her southern belle persona. However, as the play progresses, her
mask begins to crack initially with the young man she kisses before her date with Mitch, and
shatters completely once she is raped by Stanley. Her mask seems to be created with an aura of
sexuality, and is broken once it s used against her. What s notable is that William s sister was
suffering from schizophrenia prior to writing Streetcar. When she was forced to have a
lobotomy, it affected Williams, and has played a role in many of his shows. Blanche s
dependence is a part of her mask as well, as it drives a lot of her character. In her own words; I
have always depended on the kindness of strangers. It s the reason she initially comes to Stella and
Stanley, and it seems her main goal throughout her time with them is to find a

Having the lead role in a prime time sitcom is a huge deal for African American actresses and I
wanted to know how Meagan felt this role will influence the younger generations of actresses of
color and also commend her on this feat. She is proud that this role can show women that you
don t have to portray yourself in a certain way that you have other options in roles, and can be
seen as the heroin or powerhouse. The impact that she has on young women is a cause that she is

White People In Sports Essay
White people did not allow black people at first in the sport activity. White people did not want to
have any contact with black community. Black people were only allowed to have their own
leagues. They were not allowed to be in the leagues that they had white athletes. The black people
could only compete with themselves. It was very hard for black peopleto even have any competition
with other races in that period of time. After a while when white peoplestarted noticing that black
people were actually very good at sports, at first they tried to not let them compete with white
people. After some time that black people compete with white people, then they were sure that
black people were actually better than white people at specific sports.

Sexual Orientation Research Paper
Yvenie Estime
5120179
s Between heterosexual, homosexual, bi sexual, pansexual most people may claim that they
already know and have a solid understanding about the basics of sexual orientation and what one
identifies with gender wise. We live in a primarily heteronormative society where a naturally
heterosexual male and female get together. Yet who s to say which is normal and which is natural
? Of course as Alfred Kinsey proposed that sexual orientation is believed to exist on a continuum
that ranges from exclusive heterosexuality to exclusive homosexuality and includes various forms of
bisexuality. When did it become necessary on placing labels on people for what they were attracted
and where society placed them on that continuum? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Science would say that they are born. However there is no gene that can determine sexual
orientation and they believe that there are many factors that can influence one s sexual orientation.
However it sexuality weren t socially constructed, we wouldn t have to determine one s sexual
identity.
Same sex love has been going on for centuries, In Ancient Greece, men used to have sexual
relations with adolescent boys however there were basis for sexual identity. The men were not
considered homosexual. In fact, in was just met with dominant and submissive roles, not gay or
straight or even really male or female. It was quite normal for the men to sleep with other men. As
long as there was a passive and a dominant figure, it was okay. Homosexuality though blatant was
not even a thing.
People should be able to be free and explore their sexual identity as they please without society
always trying to label them. It is our innate right as humans. If we repress all the labels, and
embrace sex and different sexual identities, then and only then can we break from the social
construction of sexuality for good. We need to stop letting sex be something we cannot talk about
and we shouldn t let history continue in the direction its going. We need to educate ourselves on
sex and sexuality, because they are not one and the same but some people get them confused
together. It is not about our given sex or the act of sex rather than the rules set out as a guide for us
by society so we can blindly follow

The Cost Benefits Of Telecommuting Essay
Conclusions
In this section, we present our conclusions based on our research related to the four questions
presented in the research section.
Cost Benefits of Telecommuting
The financial benefits for employees who telecommute are substantial and convincing. As the
research indicates, savings in gas alone for a person traveling 30 miles round trip is over $4,000
annually. Depending upon how far someone travels to and from work, how much a person spends
for clothing, morning coffee and lunches, the savings could be significant to employees.
Regardless, the average savings for a telecommuter would be between $2,000 and $7,000.
Based on the research conducted on other companies of various sizes, the financial benefit of
telecommuting to Corona Corporation would also be substantial. The research shows that businesses
would save around $11,000 annually per employee. In addition to this, the fact that employers
report 63% fewer unscheduled absences, makes telework very attractive to companies.
On the basis of the results of these savings to both the employee and the company, we believe that
all parties will recognize the cost benefits are a powerful argument for a telecommuting plan.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Telecommuting
Although there are some disadvantages to telework, those potential problems can be overcome
through a sound training and management program. Our employees have already been well trained
to do their jobs. Managers and employees will need

different companies in the same expertise. Pros of the Samsung incident Apple iTechPost, in
their article about the note 7 drama says that due to the Samsung incident Apple has seen a huge
rise in sales. This allowed Apple to sell their newest device (iPhone 7) to more customers than
they have originally planned. This allowed apple to pre sell more devices than it has before
because the note 7 did damage to Samsung s reputation. Apple already has a suite of tools to
import data from an Android device and move it onto an iOS enabled device. The software
process is as smooth as Apple can make it. If people decide to make the jump, Apple is holding
up a personal parachute in its Move to iOS app. (Forbes, 2016) In this quote Forbes states that
apple already had a system to allow android users to efficiently switch to iOS. This application
came in very useful when the Samsung incident happened as iOS has seen a rise in people moving
to their system. This also shows that Apple was prepared for their main competitor to screw up at
one point or another. Being prepared allowed them to sweep in and grab some of the disappointed
Samsung customers making them money in the process, but also gaining another

The Characteristics Of Beethoven And The Emperor Symphony
The String Quartet was dedicated to Joseph Haydn, who was Beethoven s teacher
These characteristics of the Hunt Quartet are found in the Emperor concerto, especially in the 6/8
Finale, which uses solely triadic melodies based on the tonic and dominant chords exclusively
In some ways, Haydn, with his Military Symphony and the great E flat symphony no
103, Drumroll , prepares the world for the arrival of Beethoven
The Emperor Concerto uses similar characteristics of the Military Symphony no
100, which include a slow introduction, dotted rhythms, trilled notes to add a pervasive air of
expectation, stops and rests to introduce the essential element of silence, and a turn to the minor to
foretell the forthcoming use of that mode to darken the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In his early works, when Beethoven could hear the full range of frequencies, he made use of higher
notes in his compositions
As his hearing failed, he began to use the lower notes that he could hear more clearly
Works including the Moonlight Sonata, his only opera Fidelio and six symphonies were written
during this period
The high notes returned to his compositions towards the end of his life which suggests he was
hearing the works take shape in his imagination
E flat Major, the key of the Emperor concerto, is closely related to its relative C minor, as they
both share three flats in the key signature
A lot of scholars have explored the heroism of C minor, however I would argue the fact that what
applies to C minor can also be said of E flat

The Balance Between Customer Service And Resource...
The main objective of nicola is to find the balance between customer service and resource
utilization, so at nice framing ,in order to meet the demands of the customer and able to satisfy
their needs ,it was necessary to have a good levels of finished stock . This actually meant that
Nicola needed to have enough raw materials at all times. Thus availability of a wide variety of
stock meant that she actually have an edge over its competitors. In order to use her resources ,
she used to make little batches of same size frames instead of one at a time and the unused stock
was kept for future use .The stock which was not in use does effect her working capital but not for
long because of its dedication towards her customers by meeting there demand at all times.
Nicola s business of Nice Framing was to put main focus on the customers , as the business is now
growing because of its customer focus service , but the main reason of this was because it has
many raw materials and had a wide variety of finished framed pictures in stock to wait for the
customer s choice . Those critical factors includes :
1.)Increasing customer s satisfaction

Parenting Teenage Girls Rhetorical Analysis
Parenting Teenage Girls is a podcast that informs the listener about difficult subjects with girls.
The author states that way we view teenage girls is wrong and that we negatively reflect onto
how teenage girls act. Many times, the way we view girls are negative, from the way they dress,
to the way they act, to the way feel. The point of this paper is to describe what the podcast was
about, the key concepts of the podcast, and one thing learned about the topic.
Summary
This podcast takes an thought provoking take on how we talk about girls. It describes how we
talk about girls in such a way that we automatically set them up to fail. By teaching girls that they
can be too sexual, or too prude, we miss what the point about what a girl wants and wishes are. An
fascinating way the speaker talks about how to bring up the issues is to bring up the subject while
watching a show or during a car ride. She encourages parents to make the conversations quick but
allowing the conversation to open up so that they can happen.

New World Beginnings (33,000 B.C. A.D. 1769)
First Paragraph
The earth was formed over 6 billion years ago, yet in terms of time, only recently was a Western
civilization formed.
Even more recently, the Americas were accidentally discovered, and they would prove to drastically
influence and alter the future of earth.
The Shaping of North America
The Americas were formed from the single supercontinent that contained all of the earth s landmass.
Some 225 million years ago, a single supercontinent contained all the world s dry land chunks of
terrain began to separate, thus creating the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans, as well as forming
the great continents that would be Europe, Asia,, Australia, Africa, Antarctica, and the Americas
North America was shaped through a multitude of natural occurrences.
Continued shifting and folding of the earth s crust thrust up mountain ranges.
When the glaciers finally melted about 10,000 years ago, they created and the North American
landscape as we know it today
Peopling the Americas
Natural occurrences also helped for a population in the Americas. the glaciers contributed to the
origins of the continent s human history
Although it is uncertain, many believe that the glaciers of the Ice Age melted and gave way to the
Bering land bridge that allowed people to populate the Americas from Eurasia.
At the same time, the ice caps over the diverse and vast geology of the Americas melted, allowing
people to travel and populate down to the

Why Is Gandhi Unjust
3A Isaiah Williams
Research Paper
Have you ever been accused of something you didn t do and weren t responsible for? The
unjustifiable assassination of Mohandas Gandhi, leader of the Indian peace movement, robbed the
country of its most powerful leader and incited calls for violence and war. The assassination of
Gandhi was unjust because he was a part of a peaceful movement and an Indian rights activist who
lead a successful protest against British occupation of his country that garnered the world s
attention. In 1948, Gandhi was killed by Nathuram Godse in New Delhi, India. Godse was a
political activist who claimed that assassinating Gandhi was necessary in retaliation for Gandhi
giving away part of India to Muslims. (QUOTE).

In many cases Gandhi was a peace broker between the two groups and helped them to support
the idea of peace and unity to fight against oppression. Godse believed that Gandhi s tolerance of
Muslims sparked the conflict between the two groups following Indian independence and made
India weaker. However, Gandhi was not an architect of the terms of the partition but was held
accountable for the consequences by his killer. Gandhi played an active role in the negotiations,
but he could not prevail in his hope for a unified India. Instead, the final plan called for the
partition of the subcontinent along religious lines... (Dalrymple 2015) Godse blamed the sectarian
violence on Gandhi but did not acknowledge that it was the split along religious lines that did the
most damage to India as a country. Prior to that break the two groups co existed in a largely
peaceful manner. In the nineteenth century, India was still a place where traditions, languages, and
cultures cut across religious groupings, and where people did not define themselves primarily
through their religious faith. (Dalrymple 2015) Gandhi s philosophy of peace and tolerance was
instrumental in forging peace between Hindu s and Muslims. Without Gandhi there to lead and
broker peace, the violence became

Reflection On Feminism
This semester has truly been a journey for me and what I find myself identifying feminism as.
Looking back at our first writing assignment and discussing the magnitude of interpretations on
what feminism is and what it stands for, my opinions and views have certainly evolved throughout
the course of the semester. Feminism, in all of its forms and interpretations, is expressed differently
to each person. As for myself, I have never explored the vast variety of feminism until this past
fall semester. From expressing my views from the first assignment, I can clearly say that my
opinions have changed gradually throughout the semester. Three readings from our repertoire
have really shaped my new outlook on feminism and what it holds to be for me. And as this
semester in GWSS 1101 comes to a close, I look back on these readings to show how far I have
come and the vast opportunities that I have yet to come in my exploration of feminism. Before I
venture off into these three readings, I want to reflect back on my personal views of feminism at
the beginning of the semester through the What Is Feminism? interview project. Included in the
appendix, I have included the interview questions from my What Is Feminism? project.
Throughout the interview project, I explained that a majority of my beliefs of feminism were hand
fed to me by parents and my religion. I was born and raised on Catholic values, both being
educated in them in the church as well as in the household.

Country Music Genre Essay
What has influenced a crossroad in two of music s biggest genres Country, Pop? In this paper I m
going to state and defend my position on why I think it s good for both genres. I will also give
reasons on why people believe Hick Hop is bad for both cultures.
Country music has always been inspired by African Americans folk music. Since African Americans
weren t allowed to perform their folk songs white performers would paint their face and sing the
honky tonk. With common theme, and history the only thing that separates the two genres is the
presentation.
But back to current day the first time we witnessed Hick Hop was in 2005 when cowboy troy
collaborated the two genres to create I play chicken with the train. Cowboy troy was African
American which was uncommon, but what stood out more was his way of integrating rap into his
music.
Since cowboy troy many artist have followed in his path. This past year the number one hit song
by Florida Georgia Line (Cruise) was remixed by rapper Nelly and it sky rocketed up the music
charts. But nelly wasn t the only rapper to remix country music the other most recent rapper to team

Sociologist Tressie McMillan Cottom is one of the people that doesn t believes in Hick Hop this
is what she had to say in her article The Racial Dynamics of Hick Hop . I think it goes back to
country being fundamentally about a better, simpler time. And that s always a nostalgic feeling,
about a better past. So even when the music is about fun, and isn t on the surface about the past, the
genre is about that. And for white people a lot of talking about the good old times is talking about
a pre integration time a pre Civil Rights time, a time before interracial dating was common. So they

The Black Horn
The words that Cassandra shouts as she is led toward her death present a curiously
incomprehensible riddle. At first, everything seems to make sense: Agamemnon correlates to the
bull and Clytemnestra to the cow, but when we look at passage more closely, we see that
Cassandra describes the cow as the one having the horn that gores the bull, and, even more curious,
the horn isn t white, but black. I suggest that this passage, or riddle, reveals the conflation and
shifting of genderroles as demonstrated the king and his queen, as Agamemnonis often interpreted
as effeminate and Clytemnestra masculine. Furthermore, the most bizarre part of the passage is the
black horn. I think it represents the crux of Clytemnestra s power, as a horn is a marker of
maleness in cattle, it marks Clytemnestra s strong masculine power; that the horn is black, though,
situates it in the realm of feminine power and control, as black is the color of the feminine earth,
where the Furies reside.
In order to better understand the metaphors and riddles used in the above passage the audience
must have a little more understanding of the characters involved. Cassandra is a prophetess of
Apollo and the daughter of King Priam of Troy. She has been taken from Troy and brought as
Agamemnon s concubine. She has the gift of prophecy and the curse that no man will believe the
truth she sees and tells. She is able to see, experience and become emotionally involved with her
visions. Through her foresights the

The Characteristics Of Kathleen OConnell s Odile For Odette
I ve also wondered just what, exactly, Siegfried is guilty of. But I think that if he genuinely
mistakes Odile for Odette, that still could be considered a moral lapse. Kathleen O Connell
makes that point in the passage quoted, but doesn t see it realized in stagings. For me, it is
there, in the traditional staging, though perhaps requires the audience give some thought to
what is happening. Siegfried should be able to make the distinction between the two figures,
especially given the archetypal weight the ballet gives them. And he should not, say, behave
like a ballet fan, who loses her/his head at the sight of 32 fouettes . I don t think it takes
two different ballerinas dancing Odette/Odile to make this point. In fact, it should be at least
somewhat hard to tell them apart that s what makes it a kind of moral test. If the two women are
no more similar than Swanilda and Coppelia than Siegfried is just a dolt like Franz. It could be
done with two ballerinas, but it s subtler with one... But let s say Siegfried makes no real error
because he has simply been enchanted by Rothbart Something like that happens in the Ring
Wagner s Siegfried betrays Brunhilde because of a magic potion. Yet Siegfried s error in Wagner
still seems to bear a kind of moral/historical weight even if only Brunhilde really grasps it. The
idea that an idle/unintended mistake can have serious not to say tragic consequences IS sometimes
a serious theme in art. Somehow one is responsible

The Doctrine Of The Trinity Essay
Doctrine of the Trinity The Trinity is a hard concept for the human minds to fully comprehend.
Although the word Trinity is not mentioned in the Bible, there is evidence that God is three in one.
Jesus baptism described in Matthew 3:13 17 references the Trinity. Matthew speaks of Jesus
coming out of the water, the heavens opening, and describing the Spirit of Goddescending like a
dove and a voice from heaven saying This is my Son, whom I love. Also, in Matthew 29:19 it says
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and
Holy Spirit, clearly stating they are made equal. Another example of the Trinityinterpreted in the
Bible is Genesis 1:26 saying Then God said let us make man in our image. It is almost like God
is having a discussion with the Son and the Holy Spirit to make man like them. There are many
references throughout the New Testament that make clear the plurality of this doctrine. The
Godhead is three in one, therefore each one has a different role, yet the same person. The Father
sends and directs; The Father sent the Son (1 John 4:10), the Son came down from heaven
through the virgin Mary, not to complete his will but the will of the Father. The Son was sent as
human form to be a living sacrifice to save us from all sin. The Holy Spirit resides in and
sanctifies the church. The Holy Spirit is there with us, guiding us in every step. He is renewing us
and convicts us; He is omnipresent. To show the

Introduction. Historically Black Colleges And Universities
Introduction
Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) are experiencing low retention rates with
first generation college students. The students are not graduating within a four to six year
enrollment period, and or are not returning after their freshmen year. As the American workforce
looks to colleges and universities to fulfill the workforce pipeline with educated diverse workers,
HBCUs are in the spotlight to produce qualified minority graduates. Moreover, HBCU s are
looking to refine their methods of inclusion and buy in, this will in turn manifest a higher level of

HBCUs were originally created to educate and uplift African Americans to the same levels of
success and their other racial counterparts. The institutions were created to afford all African
American students, the same chance and opportunities to reach academic and social success. They
were created in times within history, when African Americans could not enroll in traditionally white
post secondary institutions. Currently, there are 105 diverse HBCUs (insert source for
information). Each institution has distinct missions and rich legacies. They vary in size,
enrollment, financial creditability and stability, curriculum and degree programming as well as,
operational effectiveness (Hibel, n.d.). HBCUs serve some students who would not normally be
accepted into other institutions because of their academic and socio economic status.
Higher education in America is facing many challenges, i.e., low retention, low graduation rates and
less funding. Postsecondary institutions are scrambling to remain a competitive entity within
society. In order to do so, students must remain in school (Talbert, 2012). The Office of the White

Coraline Quotes
In the book Coraline Coraline goes through a plethora of stages starting from being a naГЇve child
to eventually evolving into a girl with a strong identity who is fully aware of who she is and
proud of who she has become. At the beginning of the book Coraline is your typical kid who is
filled with curiosity and an urge for exploration. This is best illustrated on page 26 when Coraline
first ventures into the alternate universe. Coralinewent through the door; she wondered what the
empty flat would be like if that was where the corridor lead (Gaiman 26). Although Coraline is
unaware of her surroundings (due to the fact that she just moved there) this does not stop Coraline
from being adventurous and exploring the unknown. This act of Coraline going into the corridor
while having no idea where the corridor leads and without even thinking about the possible
consequences of this action shows Coraline s overall lack of maturity and her naive childlike ways.
Before Coraline makes her ultimate transition from naГЇve and fearless child to a brave, confident,
and independent girl she further displays her childlike ways by always having a strong desire to
receive what she wants; and if she fails to get what she wants she expresses her displeasure. This is
clearly illustrated by two quotes in the book. In the first quote Coraline is upset that her motherwill
not purchase a pair of gloves she likes. Coraline saw some Day Glo green gloves she liked a lot.
Her mother refused to buy

Fitness Research Papers
What is the most effect way to increase your physical fitness and improve your health? In the
1970 s jogging became a popular form of fitness. The 1980 s brought us Jane Fonda, Jazzersize,
and other forms of dance aerobics; while Billy Blanks had us punching and kicking our way to
health with Tae Bo in the 1990 s. The new millennium gave birth to Insanity, P90X, Zumba, and
the whole Beach Body franchise. The Army still clings to the idea that running, push ups and sit
ups are the only way to measure physical fitness; while Cross Fit fanatics prefer to lift hard and
heavy. There is so many ways to train, so many fads to wade through in the search for a technique
that works. The conflicting research and opinions when it comes to physical training and overall
health is confusing at best. Mostly, the overwhelming amount of information, techniques, programs,
workouts, self proclaimed YouTube experts, and google search results leave the average American
not knowing where to start or what kind of training would move them towards their goals. One of
the most ardently debated fitness topics is which form of cardiovascular training is most effective
for weight loss; steady state cardio or high intensity interval training. As a Drill Sergeant, there is
always limited time to physically train; an issue most soldiers have, particularly those in combat
zones. Limited by time and equipment, but driven by the constant need to remain in top physical

Bill Clinton Impeach Essay
A controversial issue that occurred not too long ago would be the impeachment of former
President Bill Clinton. Clinton was impeached for having an inappropriate and unprofessional
relationship with Monic Lewinski. Lewinski served as Clinton s intern at The White House. The
investigation to impeach Clinton began in October 1998 and he was impeached in December
1998. However, Clinton was spared removal from office after the Senate voted to acquit him in
February 1999 (Clinton Impeachment). The argument for Clinton needing to be impeached is that
he lied in jury about his relationship status as well as he obstructed justice to cover up the
relationship. The argument against Clinton needing to be impeached is the offense he is being
charged with is not serious enough for impeachment and if he were removed from... Show more

The people who did not support Clinton dismissed the argument that the American people voted for
Clinton not once but twice. This is shown here Supporters of impeachment also discounted
arguments by Clinton s defenders that removing Clinton from office would overturn the will of the
electorate, who twice had chosen him to be president (Clinton Impeachment). Despite the bad
image Clinton received, he still had a high approval rating from the American people. Another
argument made to impeach Clinton was that just because something is popular does not mean that
it is right. Representative J.C. Watts expressed this when he said What s popular isn t always
right, I say we must draw a line from right and wrong (Clinton Impeachment). The supporters of
the impeachment believed that the only way to be fair and show that no one is above the law is to
impeach Clinton. The last argument the supporters made was that the people could no longer trust
Clinton to keep his word in vital policy

Animal Farm And George Orwell By George Orwell
Eric Arthur Blair, under the pseudonym of George Orwell, composed many novels in his lifetime
that were considered both politically rebellious and socially incorrect. Working on the dream since
childhood, Orwell would finally gain notoriety as an author with his 1945 novel Animal Farm,
which drew on personal experiences and deeply rooted fear to satirically critique Russian
communismduring its expansion. Noticing the impact he made, he next took to writing the novel
1984, which similarly criticized totalitarianismby depicting an overwhelmingly melancholy
dystopian society. 1984 achieved similar success and opened the public s eyes to the dangers of the
spread of despotic regimes throughout the world. By examining both Animal Farm and... Show

He was indicted for treason and forced to flee the country, and it left him with a hatred and fear
towards the communists that he would harbor for the remainder of his life. Armed with literary
ammunition from these experiences, Orwell set out to shed light on the dangers of this type of
all powerful governance in 1984. This he did mainly by setting up the character Winston Smith
to mirror himself and his own views as much as possible. Both Orwell and Smith were political
rebels, propagandists, free love advocates, and individuals in every sense of the word. He
juxtaposed this individualistic character against the oppressiveness of the Party regime for the
purpose of highlighting the unjust tyrannical behavior of the totalitarian government. When he
writes the two aims of the Party are to conquer the whole surface of the earth and to extinguish
once and for all the possibility of independent thought it is clear that he is issuing a warning about
totalitarianism that stems from nothing less than his own personal beliefs and involvements
[1984 193]. The novel altogether follows a similar theme of warning and by taking a closer look
into Orwell s personal biography it makes it clear where these fervent beliefs emanate from.
Furthermore, Animal Farm, written in 1945, explores similar topics and themes as 1984 and acts
as a sort of precursor to the novel. Notably, Animal Farm sheds further light on the dangers of

Alchemy In Ancient Egypt
Alchemy is used to change one element into another and make material from existing elements.
Most of the original alchemists in Egypt tried to change common metal such as iron and lead into
gold. It is a quest that has been interesting for people for thousands of years. Although most
alchemists want to produce gold, many other alchemist use alchemyfor medical purposes. They
make medicine by using alchemy and some of the alchemists want to create a panacea which can
cure any disease. ( Magic ). Because other metals are less perfect than gold, it makes people
believe that nature has create a gold. The gold are found in the earth is something a skilled artisan

last five years, which aim at preventing a possible cyber terrorism attack. Air gapping has been

The Causes for the Rebellion of 1837-1838 Essay
The Causes for the Rebellion of 1837 1838
The rebellions of Upper and Lower Canada were in the interests of self government but were
doomed to failure from their beginning. Each of these two colonies encountered a great deal of
problems right from the institution of the Constitution Act of 1791 and the problems continually
got worse until the only choice to some seem to be rebellion. There were several problems that lead
to the rebellions of 1837 38. In Lower Canada there was the agricultural crisis that caused a large
number of starvations, to the French and English political and social problems within the colony.

The next major issue was that of immigration which brought tens of millions of people from
Europe. These people would be heading to the United States, Upper Canada or Lower Canada.
When these immigrants came they would land in Quebec and with them they would bring disease
that killed a large amount of French Canadians. This aggravated the French people because they
saw this as a plot of the English to get rid of the French Canadians . Adding to these problems was
the establishment of the British America Land Company. This new land company was given over
500 acres of Lower Canada s prime land. The company would not allow French people to buy this
land; only the English and Americans could purchase the land. The French people found it
increasingly difficult to get land and the government wasn t doing anything about this. All of these
problems lead to the assembly issuing the ninety two resolutions that had two main points that were
responsible government and control of money. The ruling English class didn t want the French
people to gain this power because they wanted to French to remain oppressed and out of the upper

control over the government and English speaking people would be under the control of the French.

The Man With The Twisted Lip By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
The short story by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, The Man with the Twisted Lip, is based on disguises
of wealth and appearance and how these disguises change the point of view that people have in
the social classes and what they think about each other during the Victorian Era. Disguises can
be used to create an identity for one s own personal gain or to protect an individual s identity.
Neville St. Claire uses disguise to validate his place as a gentleman. His status as a beggar allows
him to become the successful gentleman that he should be, by concealing his true self to the social
classsystem. Sherlock Holmes uses his persona as a protection to keep the people of London
safe and out of harms way. Between the two personalities of St. Claire and Holmes is the
outcome of what others may think of them; St. Claire knows the identity that he has created is
not accepted by the social class while Sherlock Holmes identity is seen as a hero and is accepted
by the social class. One uses his disguise purely for monetary gain and the other uses the identity
in order to solve mysteries and protect his city. As shown in the The Man with the Twisted Lip ,
disguise is only allowed when the social class accepts the identity. Despite the fact that St. Claire
and Holmes created new identities through disguise, St. Claire is shamed of his identity while
Holmes is respected. Both disguises have various goals. St. Claire hides behind the facade of a

The Role Of Sitting Bull In The Black Hills
In 1874 gold was discovered in the Black Hills. President Grant was forced to make a harsh
decision because the Black Hills were located in the Great Sioux Reservation that the Indians had
gained under the Treaty of 1868. President Grant allowed miners to enter the Black Hills and
insisted that this act would be legalized. Government attempted to acquire the Black Hills, where
the gold was located however Sitting Bullwas against the sale of the land. The Great War of Sioux
1876 resulted from a disagreement between miners and Indians. Miners had already begun to

Because Sitting Bull and his army men were not sure of what would have happened when the
white men entered they were forced to attack in fear. They had not interfered with the gold rush,
and although they had not signed the Treaty of 1868, in sanctioned their residence in the

Yellowstone and in other areas all because he was trying to be proactive and attack them before
they attacked him and his people. Sitting Bull was unaware that his actions were considered to be
an improper thing to do. Because of the actions of Sitting Bull s army, they were forced to leave

Why Is Religion Important In Ancient Greece
Religion was in the Ancient Greeks everyday lives, the Ancient Greeks believed in many
different gods and goddesses. There was a god for almost every aspect of their lives. Religion
was important to the ancient Greeks because as I said in the introduction paragraph they
believed that it would make their lives better and also believed that the gods would lead them to
a happy afterlife when they died. Festivals and parties were held in honor of the gods. Parents
sometimes told stories about the gods to their children to teach them what s right and wrong and
how to live a good life by pleasing the gods. Some stories said that if you went around thinking
you were better than the gods, bad things would happen (getting struck by lightning, illness, etc).
The Greeks also built temples for the gods and goddesses as homes and as a place for their
people to worship their gods. The temples were decorated with paintings, statues, altars, and
carvings, depending on the size and contents of the temple it showed how wealthy and powerful
the city was. The Greeks built temples in every town for one god/goddess that were cared for by

The dangers of bothsideism in which pundits tries to equate two opposing sides of an issue has

Americans and since the 1970s American politics has been on a downward slope. It is no mere
coincidence that it coincides with the rise of the American right, the Republicans. Once proudly

First released in 2012, the book uncovers the extremism of the Republican Party. The tandem of
Thomas Mann and Norman Ornstein, experts in their respective studies are keen to issues that
plagued American politics. Mann and Ornstein are two individuals who beliefs fall on opposing
sides of the political spectrum in America. In particular, Ornstein is a resident scholar of the
American Enterprise Institute, a powerful conservative think tank and writing contributor to Roll

issues in contemporary American politics. During the past several decades the Republican Party
has taken a sharp right turn without looking back. It did not help that the constant comparison of
Republican actions to their counterparts Democrats is wrong, as the latter is anything but like the
former. Clearly, many, not all were blind to the fact that Republican leaders craved the comparison
because it normalizes their reckless behavior. In fact, the coverage gave further credence in their
plan and allowed for far more egregious acts under the Republican spirit . However, the authors

Third Party
Third party has been widely used in the Islamic community in Malaysia to handle family matters
especially in marital dispute. They have played their role especially in resolving conflict
including civil suit in Syariah Court (Osman, 1999). Previous research showed that third party
has played it roles to resolve conflict among Malays. Some of the examples of the third party
are, Imam or religious leader, Ketua Kampung (Village Head) and the Penghulu (Village Chief)
(Syed Hussin, 1977, and Yaacob, 1991). These peoples became the advisor in the Malay tradition
to help in resolving conflict. Most of the time they became the third party that is referred to, for
any problem or occasion in the village. In the extended family, each family was not only depending
on their close family, thus all of them were also considered as family (Yaacob, 1991). The
implementation of Syariah Enactment as well as Islamic Family Law since 1880 then amended in
1885 did not isolate the role of those parties in any family matters (Ahmad Ibrahim, 1987 and
Osman, 1999). Only after the implementation of Islamic Administration Enactment, the role of third
party had shifted from those mentioned earlier to the Religious Officer appointed by the
government.

that the Jewish people are considered an Am Segula (treasured people). The two different
options for this argument are Bchira Vs Segula. The explanation for Bchira is that the Jewish
people chose God and all his teachings so God chose them back in return. In contrast, Segula says
that God loves the Jewish nation, and therefore God chose the Jewish people to be his treasured
nation. Now, there are many disagreements between Bchira and Segula because there are different
explanations as to why they are God s treasured nation. I believe that the Jewish people are an Am
Segula because of Bchira. When looking in detail at Bchira, it is the more sensible option.

Narrative Essay On Odette Millenium
The accused needs to stand. The tribunal judge s voice echoed throughout the cavernous courtroom.
Although he sat high upon his chair behind his raised bench, the lighting around him was dim,
providing a sense of anonymity. To his right, a collection of citizens, too, sat shrouded in
anonymity. Several feet across from the judge, Odette Bordeaux pushed her chair out from behind
the small desk from where she had been placed. The wooden legs of the chair scratched abrasively
against the warped wooden floor causing an earsplitting screech that bounced around the room,
magnifying the sound until it reached a crescendo and then slowly dissipated. She was highlighted
in a strong light that shined down from the ceiling, exposing her to the juryand judge. Aged in her
mid 40s, with chestnut hair pinned neatly into a bun on the back of her head, Odette stood with
the composure of a lone leaf in a stout fall wind. Her hands, thin but calloused, trembled
involuntarily, so she balled them up and placed them behind her back. She wiggled her toes,
hidden inside of her flats, to work off the abundance of nerves ricocheting around inside of her. It

The judge s voice was stoic. He didn t raise or lower his pitch, but simply stated the offenses as
though reading a grocery list.
How do you respond to these transgressions?
Odette stood silent before the judge and the collection of citizens, not sure how to respond. She
knew that admitting her guilt would make her vulnerable to severe repercussion; however, atoning
for actions that were necessary seemed like an illogical thing to do, but it was the truth.
How do you respond to these transgressions, defendant?
Odette rubbed her sweaty palms on her gray cotton dress, cleared her throat and stammered,

Similarities And Similarities Between Beowulf And Gilgamesh
British literature like Beowulf and Gilgamesh hold several characteristics that make this type of
literature unique. Each of theses stories hold similarities and difference that alter the course of the
main character. Both Beowulf and Gilgamesh took vast journeys in their ruling as leaders, but they
each took the journeys for different reasons. These two epic heroes of british literature both used
the up in coming benefits of christianityin their journeys expressed in the novels, yet the two
characters used the beliefs in different ways. Both of these men are viewed as having great amounts
of power and through analyzing it can be determined that the men use their powers to different
extents. Gilgamesh and Beowulfare two heros that have a number of similarities and differences in
their epics.
One difference that lies in the two epic heroes is how christianity is perceived through the epics.
Gilgamesh and Beowulf both have biblical references in their quests, yet in Beowulf it can be
seen more clearly. During Beowulf s journey he specifically prayed to the Gods for guidance in
the battles with both Grendel and his mother. While in Gilgamesh the story contained a motif to
Noah s Flood, and this leads to shaping Gilgamesh into a greater king because it gives him a story
to tell. Another similarity in the epics in connection to christianity is they both use stories of the
bible, Beowulf is seen as a kenning to Cane in the biblical story of Cain and Abel. Gilgamesh used

Pathos In The Other Face
Black holes are very huge formations in the space that have a tremendous tendency for absorbing
everything in the surrounding, and so our personalities are. We are born as void memory children
who couldn t differentiate between right and wrong. However, we were also programmed in a
certain manner that tells us what we are supposed to be, or exhibit. Socialization is a main clue
which is regarded as a programming utility for our personalities. Therefore, Salma Shalash, in The
Other Face, had a desire in shedding the light over the effect of personality programming,
socialization, on relationships, with respect to gender considerations. Shalash conducted her
message by writing a short temporary Egyptian story of a couple, being about to marry.... Show

Pathos was used explicitly by grabbing the emotions and feeling of the audience by the unexpected
spontaneous reaction of the fiancГ©e ( Ethos, Pathos, and Logos ), showing her real mask, when
she noticed that her relationship and marriage are subjected to danger. Ethos is achieved by
relying on a divorced axial character, a friend of hers. The former dependence paves the audience
mind for the fact that marriage, at that environment, ceases being a divorce when problems, related
to misperceiving personalities, arise among couples. The author also accounted for the left brain
audience who are mainly interested in one to one events; consequently, Logos , as a persuasion
mode, was used as a transition between Shalash s knowing that her relationship with Fouad would
be adversely affected and her spontaneous reaction, based on her character, of the unexpected visit.
To sum up, The Other Face, by Salma Shallash, managed to conduct the message, triggered by the
author s exigency, through a theoretical writing model integrating both persuasion and original
writing style. Salma Shallash, in her story, assures the common Egyptian motto: Everything is with
disagreement, except for marriage . She also emphasizes that actions can be evaluated in different
ways according to the one s perspective in perceiving them. Therefore, a key to success and relax is
the multi dimensional, or versatile,

6th Floor Museum John F. Kennedy President John F. Kennedy served fourteen years in

with sophistication, high fashion, French food, cocktails, and superb entertainment were signatures
of the Kennedy era. While laws and theological traditions changed to meet the demands of the
times. As an outgrowth of Vatican Council II, convened in 1963, the Supreme Court outlawed
prayer in public schools. Massive new social programs were central to Kennedy s New Frontier
philosophy. He introduced legislation to combat mental retardation and to improve health,
education and housing. Many programs were stalled in the conservative Congress. The
administration provided the foundation for Medicare, the Mass Transportation Act, and The War
on Poverty. The Wilderness Act of 1964 protected vast American natural resources, and fostered
interest in conservation. The 1961 programs, Peace Corps and the Alliance of Progress brought
American knowledge and technology to underdeveloped nations. Delores Todlock served in India
with the Peace Corps, directed by Kennedy s brother in law, Sargent Shriver (Joh F. Kennedy).

  • 2. Shakespeare s A Streetcar Named Desire Masquerades and Sexuality in A Streetcar Named Desire Masks conceal the truth from the people who look at them. They use color, designs, and frills to hide the flaws beneath. In literature, stage, and film, we see characters wearing masks all the time, just not always in a literal sense. The most complex and intriguing characters wear these kinds of masks, to hide their own flaws and scars from the outside world. In A Streetcar Named Desire, almost every character has a mask they wear, to conceal the truth from the people around them. One of the easier masks to see is Blanche s, as she struggles with her past and present. She hides her past from everyone to maintain her southern belle persona. However, as the play progresses, her mask begins to crack initially with the young man she kisses before her date with Mitch, and shatters completely once she is raped by Stanley. Her mask seems to be created with an aura of sexuality, and is broken once it s used against her. What s notable is that William s sister was suffering from schizophrenia prior to writing Streetcar. When she was forced to have a lobotomy, it affected Williams, and has played a role in many of his shows. Blanche s dependence is a part of her mask as well, as it drives a lot of her character. In her own words; I have always depended on the kindness of strangers. It s the reason she initially comes to Stella and Stanley, and it seems her main goal throughout her time with them is to find a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Cost Benefits Of Telecommuting Essay Conclusions In this section, we present our conclusions based on our research related to the four questions presented in the research section. Cost Benefits of Telecommuting The financial benefits for employees who telecommute are substantial and convincing. As the research indicates, savings in gas alone for a person traveling 30 miles round trip is over $4,000 annually. Depending upon how far someone travels to and from work, how much a person spends for clothing, morning coffee and lunches, the savings could be significant to employees. Regardless, the average savings for a telecommuter would be between $2,000 and $7,000. Based on the research conducted on other companies of various sizes, the financial benefit of telecommuting to Corona Corporation would also be substantial. The research shows that businesses would save around $11,000 annually per employee. In addition to this, the fact that employers report 63% fewer unscheduled absences, makes telework very attractive to companies. On the basis of the results of these savings to both the employee and the company, we believe that all parties will recognize the cost benefits are a powerful argument for a telecommuting plan. Advantages and Disadvantages of Telecommuting Although there are some disadvantages to telework, those potential problems can be overcome through a sound training and management program. Looking back at our first writing assignment and discussing the magnitude of interpretations on what feminism is and what it stands for, my opinions and views have certainly evolved throughout the course of the semester. Feminism, in all of its forms and interpretations, is expressed differently to each person. As for myself, I have never explored the vast variety of feminism until this past fall semester. From expressing my views from the first assignment, I can clearly say that my opinions have changed gradually throughout the semester. In this paper I m going to state and defend my position on why I think it s good for both genres. I will also give reasons on why people believe Hick Hop is bad for both cultures. Country music has always been inspired by African Americans folk music. Since African Americans weren t allowed to perform their folk songs white performers would paint their face and sing the honky tonk. With common theme, and history the only thing that separates the two genres is the presentation. But back to current day the first time we witnessed Hick Hop was in 2005 when cowboy troy collaborated the two genres to create I play chicken with the train. Cowboy troy was African American which was uncommon, but what stood out more was his way of integrating rap into his music. Since cowboy troy many artist have followed in his path. • 20. The Black Horn The words that Cassandra shouts as she is led toward her death present a curiously incomprehensible riddle. At first, everything seems to make sense: Agamemnon correlates to the bull and Clytemnestra to the cow, but when we look at passage more closely, we see that Cassandra describes the cow as the one having the horn that gores the bull, and, even more curious, the horn isn t white, but black. I suggest that this passage, or riddle, reveals the conflation and shifting of genderroles as demonstrated the king and his queen, as Agamemnonis often interpreted as effeminate and Clytemnestra masculine. Furthermore, the most bizarre part of the passage is the black horn. I think it represents the crux of Clytemnestra s power, as a horn is a marker of maleness in cattle, it marks Clytemnestra s strong masculine power; that the horn is black, though, situates it in the realm of feminine power and control, as black is the color of the feminine earth, where the Furies reside. In order to better understand the metaphors and riddles used in the above passage the audience must have a little more understanding of the characters involved. Cassandra is a prophetess of Apollo and the daughter of King Priam of Troy. She has been taken from Troy and brought as Agamemnon s concubine. She has the gift of prophecy and the curse that no man will believe the truth she sees and tells. She is able to see, experience and become emotionally involved with her visions. But I think that if he genuinely mistakes Odile for Odette, that still could be considered a moral lapse. Kathleen O Connell makes that point in the passage quoted, but doesn t see it realized in stagings. For me, it is there, in the traditional staging, though perhaps requires the audience give some thought to what is happening. Siegfried should be able to make the distinction between the two figures, especially given the archetypal weight the ballet gives them. And he should not, say, behave like a ballet fan, who loses her/his head at the sight of 32 fouettes . I don t think it takes two different ballerinas dancing Odette/Odile to make this point. In fact, it should be at least somewhat hard to tell them apart that s what makes it a kind of moral test. If the two women are no more similar than Swanilda and Coppelia than Siegfried is just a dolt like Franz. It could be done with two ballerinas, but it s subtler with one... But let s say Siegfried makes no real error because he has simply been enchanted by Rothbart Something like that happens in the Ring Wagner s Siegfried betrays Brunhilde because of a magic potion. • 22. The Doctrine Of The Trinity Essay Doctrine of the Trinity The Trinity is a hard concept for the human minds to fully comprehend. Although the word Trinity is not mentioned in the Bible, there is evidence that God is three in one. Jesus baptism described in Matthew 3:13 17 references the Trinity. Matthew speaks of Jesus coming out of the water, the heavens opening, and describing the Spirit of Goddescending like a dove and a voice from heaven saying This is my Son, whom I love. Also, in Matthew 29:19 it says Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, clearly stating they are made equal. Another example of the Trinityinterpreted in the Bible is Genesis 1:26 saying Then God said let us make man in our image. It is almost like God is having a discussion with the Son and the Holy Spirit to make man like them. There are many references throughout the New Testament that make clear the plurality of this doctrine. The Godhead is three in one, therefore each one has a different role, yet the same person. The Father sends and directs; The Father sent the Son (1 John 4:10), the Son came down from heaven through the virgin Mary, not to complete his will but the will of the Father. This is best illustrated on page 26 when Coraline first ventures into the alternate universe. Clinton was impeached for having an inappropriate and unprofessional relationship with Monic Lewinski. Lewinski served as Clinton s intern at The White House. The investigation to impeach Clinton began in October 1998 and he was impeached in December 1998. However, Clinton was spared removal from office after the Senate voted to acquit him in February 1999 (Clinton Impeachment). • 28. Animal Farm And George Orwell By George Orwell Eric Arthur Blair, under the pseudonym of George Orwell, composed many novels in his lifetime that were considered both politically rebellious and socially incorrect. Working on the dream since childhood, Orwell would finally gain notoriety as an author with his 1945 novel Animal Farm, which drew on personal experiences and deeply rooted fear to satirically critique Russian communismduring its expansion. Noticing the impact he made, he next took to writing the novel 1984, which similarly criticized totalitarianismby depicting an overwhelmingly melancholy dystopian society. 1984 achieved similar success and opened the public s eyes to the dangers of the spread of despotic regimes throughout the world. He was indicted for treason and forced to flee the country, and it left him with a hatred and fear towards the communists that he would harbor for the remainder of his life. Armed with literary ammunition from these experiences, Orwell set out to shed light on the dangers of this type of all powerful governance in 1984. This he did mainly by setting up the character Winston Smith to mirror himself and his own views as much as possible. Both Orwell and Smith were political rebels, propagandists, free love advocates, and individuals in every sense of the word. He juxtaposed this individualistic character against the oppressiveness of the Party regime for the purpose of highlighting the unjust tyrannical behavior of the totalitarian government. When he writes the two aims of the Party are to conquer the whole surface of the earth and to extinguish once and for all the possibility of independent thought it is clear that he is issuing a warning about totalitarianism that stems from nothing less than his own personal beliefs and involvements [1984 193]. The novel altogether follows a similar theme of warning and by taking a closer look into Orwell s personal biography it makes it clear where these fervent beliefs emanate from. Furthermore, Animal Farm, written in 1945, explores similar topics and themes as 1984 and acts as a sort of precursor to the novel. Notably, Animal Farm sheds further light on the dangers of ...
