The Hurt Locker
In The Hurt Locker, the focus was not orientated on the politically fraught conflict of the war in
Iraq, but rather, centres on the human experiences of the soldiers. Directed by Kathryn Bigelow, the
motion picture subtly depicts the dire individual and interpersonal effects of the war at both an
emotional and psychological perspective. The focus is evident during the filmthrough a variety of
scenes that highlight the human experiences rather than a political one by incorporating numerous
film techniques. These include the use of appropriate sound, light, camera angles, editing, and
camera movements in a scene all of which help to communicate the message of the film effectively.
As a set up for The Hurt Locker, the opening scene works as

The first being the dot mapping method, I had used this method in my map because it is a
highly effective way to show density differences in geographic distributions across a landscape,
and the dots show exactly where the event occurs. The second mapping method I had used was
the proportional point symbol to indicate the scale and size with simple symbols proportionally
to the data value found at that location. Large circles represent a higher density of population
(urban areas) and smaller scale is a smaller density of population (rural areas). I had use the
Miller cylindrical map projection for my two variable thematic map for the following reason;
first being the map is due to the accuracy and clearly defined of local shapes. We are displaying
geographic data and it is important to have a projection that does not distort the area to effectively
map the data. Secondly the map avoids scale exaggeration, which is also important when mapping
geographic data within regions. One manipulation I had made to my map to improve the
communicative effectiveness of my map, was to only emphasize the borders of France to clearly
define the geographic area where the data is applicable. Advantages to using ArcGIS to map this
data was that it provides a great simplistic map to communicate the data to spatial regions, and the

Mad Men Symbolism
The 1960 s was still in the midst of the throwaway society. Everyone wanted everything new.
Anything that was old or outdated was thrown into the garbage. There was no talk about
recycling. In one scene Don is having a picnic with his family and when they are done, don s wife
flips over the picnic blanket and scatters their leftover litter everywhere, don also throws his
finished beer can into the lake. The symbolism is that they are materialistic. They check their
hands, so they don t dirty the car, but it s okay to pollute the property they don t own.
Unhealthy habits were not questioned in the 1960 s. Consequently, as long as everyone got
along and looked the part an unhealthy habit was ignored. Advertisement dominated many
people s decision making reasoning. If people saw an ad encouraging smoking they wanted to
smoke as well. You never second guessed what you were told or else you were thought of as a
rebel or someone who went against the grains of society. Such as Smoking in the 1960 s was the
thing to do; it was not questioned. It would be equivalent to owning a cell phone today or not
owning one. You are considered odd if you didn t follow along. Roger Sterling is one character in
Mad Men rarely seen without a glass of vodka in his hand even at work. Drinking and smoking on
the job was the social norm, as long as everyone behaved, it was accepted.
Women s role in society was to behave and shape themselves to fit into men s ideals. Peggy upon

Truman Foreign Policy Change

IRLS 214
Progress Assignment
1)The National Security Council has a long linage dating back to the end of the Second World
War, and has played a vital role in the President s decision making process of national security and
foreign policy matters. Established under the National Security Act of 1947 and later was amended
by the Reorganization Plan in 1949, the council was placed in the Executive Office of the President.
Setting on the council is the President as the chairmen, along with the Vice President, Secretary of
State and others that assist the president for National Security Affairs (National Security Council

As discussed previously the beginning of the Council was a rough start with President Truman not
attending any of the meetings and relying on the cabinet members to pass the information along to
him as it came. President Truman believed that the Secretary of State should sit in as the chairman,
and the Council was a forum for studying and appraising problems and making recommendations,
but not the one for setting policy or serving as a centralized office to coordinate implementation
(Best 2011, 10). Later on the Hoover Commission made the recommendation that a better
relationship between the Council and the Joint Chief of Staff would best serve the president.
Shortly after President Truman, no longer made the chairman the Secretary of State but that the
President should fill this position (Rosati and Scott 2013, 115). Under the Kennedy
administration, the attempt was made from the beginning to cut a lot from the Council. Kennedy
made the position of Director of the Office of Emergency Planning to the Council. This position
was to be used in case of an emergency to coronate any type of response that might be necessary.
Like Truman, Kennedy made most of the biggest decisions outside of the regular Council sessions
more of an informal session with his closest advisors there (Best 2011, 13). With President Johnson
taking over as president, Johnson was left with

Relationships In R K Narayan
Human Relationships in R.K.Narayan writing with reference to current scenario To be a good
writer anywhere, you must have roots both in religion and family. I have these things.
R.K.Narayan has depicted himself. Man is a social animal and a man living outside the society is
either a god or a beast . This proverb depicts the importance of society and relations for a human
being. That is why, since the Renaissance Humanism, and for that purpose the study of Humanities
has become a sine qua non for the literary artists. It was established long ago, what a piece of work
is man? and The proper study of mankind is man. All this accounts for an exploration of a
connecting link between two human beings, better expressed in the term, human relationship . In
the arena of Indo Anglian Fiction, R.K. Narayan s contribution is that he is every inch an Indian,

However, as literature is the mirror of society, the term has acquired a literary dimension and
interpretation; in sociology of literature, such a relationship opens a wider panorama, displaying its
significance on domestic, social and cultural levels. Thus in the vicinity of home, there is studied
parents son relationship, brother sister relationship, husband wife relationship, and above all the
relationship between two women, with all its conflict and compromise. On social grounds, the
relationship outside the bonds of family is stressed, such as master labour relationship, teacher
taught relationship, employee employer relationship, buyer seller relationship etc. In Indian
context every type of human relationship is strengthened by addressing the other person in
domestic nomenclature just as Sakkutai Kanchamma Ismail Chacha ; every old woman is
addressed as Dadi by children as a sense of respect and regard. Such an emotional bondage is

Research on the Microbiological Hazard of Linens
Executive summary Linen that has been used is a source of healthcare associated infection and is
considered to be contaminated and contain microbes that continue to survive or even multiply if
not laundered according to required standard . The transfer of micro organisms can take place
through contact from linen to patients, clients, staff so all stages of linen management must be
considered. It includes storage, handling, bagging, transportation and laundering .To reduce the
microbiological hazard for those who handle soiled and infected linen control measures are
necessary. The aim of this study is to ascertain whether linens are correctly categorized,
segregated and laundered to prevent the risk of infection to patients and healthcare staff .
Introduction The term hospital linen includes all linen used in the hospital. It includes mattress,
pillow covers, blankets, bed sheets, towels, curtains, doctors coats. All linen used by patient that
have been soiled with blood, body fluids, secretions, and excretions should be handled using
appropriate precautions. The risk of cross infection can be eliminated if appropriate precautions
are followed by care givers for the handling, collecting, transporting .The hospital receives all these
materials from different areas like Operation Theatre, wards, Icu etc. The OT linen need special
care as it has to be washed sterilized carefully. Microbialcounts is reduced in soiled linen during the
laundering process. Water

Ishmael Essay
Ishmael
The book Ishmael, which was written by Daniel Quinn, is an adventure for the human mind and for
society as a whole. Throughout the book Quinn explores many factual scientific principals, but the
intent of the book is not to give one a lecture on science. The intentions of Quinn are to discuss and
examine the beginnings and also the history of our ecologically dominating culture in which we
live in. In this book, Ishmael is a telepathic, highly educated gorilla who explores with his fifth pupil
the stories of the Takers and the Leavers. The Takers is a society in which man has freed himself
from living day to day, through this wondering if he will be able to find food tomorrow. Takers

The Leaver culture is not an uncivilized one. This culture of the Leavers is a great contrast to that
one of that that Takers have.
To the Takers point of view, the world before them seemed to be chaotic, messy, and in need of
some straightening out. The basic premise of the Takers philosophy is that man is in conflict with
nature, and this position at the apex of evolution can only be maintained by completely and totally
conquering the world. An example of this is when Ishmael explains, We re destroying the world
because we are, in a very literal and deliberate way, at war with it (Quinn 130). The Takers that the
natural law does not apply to man and his science and technology offer protection from the hunger,
sickness, and certain death, in which all other species in the wild suffer from. Therefore man is
free to act with malice toward the world without any consequences from these actions in which he
does.
As a society of Takers, what can we do to curb the destruction of our planets resources? As Ishmael
states, What were you expecting a magic word that would sweep all the nastiness away? (Quinn
250). Here, Quinn is saying that our culture s destructive tendencies are not something that will self
correct it self or just simply disappear. He also reminds us that all of our industrial and agricultural
accomplishments have been based on inventions. Therefore, that is there inventions and

Cost Of Woman
The Cost of Being a Woman The average woman menstruates from around age twelve until about
age fifty (Nelson). This means that for around thirty eight years, between approximately two to
seven days a month, a woman bleeds as her uterus sheds and menstrual blood flows from the
opening in the cervix out of the vagina (Nelson). During those times women are in need of
feminine hygiene products. In the majority of our country women pay sales tax on these necessary
products. In this way women are paying our government for simply being women. These products
are a necessity that women need, just like groceries, which are exempt from sales taxes in the
majority of the United States. Women should not have to pay extra taxes on products that they...

Perry Buck, a republican from Windsor, Colorado, stated in support of a bill that would cut the
tampon tax in Colorado, I m happy if they exempt the male hygiene products, to me, for the
government to be picking winners and losers, I m not crazy about that at all. Buck said this in
context inferring that removing the sales tax on items such as men s razors and razor blades
would level the field between sales tax placed on products specifically meant for women or men
(Stice). There are two issues with this solution. One being that women will then want the sales
tax removed from their razors and razor blades as well, putting men behind in what seems to be
some sort of government taxation game. This game would then cause a slippery slope of
requests for sales tax cuts on any number of male or female specific products. The second issue
being that in no way are razors an absolute necessity. Razors are a clear want, not a need. It is not

The Animation Of Life In Frankenstein
The Animation of Life by Stories: Literature and Society Doctor Frankenstein in Mary Shelley s
influential novel never reveals the secrets behind the animation of his monster. Even still, the
creature is suddenly thrust into being; thrust into an amalgamation of ebbing and flowing stories
and forced to carve out a story of his own. It can be reasoned that everything which exhibits what
we classify as life carries with it the capacity to simultaneously create and be shaped by stories.
Shelley s intentional decision to keep the methods of the monster s creation hidden allows for the
story of the monster itself to be what truly gives him life and consequently, the story of Frankenstein
and his monster has breathed life into many modern discussions.... Show more content on

The most poignant example being Victor s wedding night, a night which should be shared
between him and his new bride. Ultimately, Victor is so caught up in his own story that he does
not even begin to reason that his new bride could be the target of his monster s wrath and Victor
s beloved dies at the hands of his creation. (Shelley 151) It is interesting to conjecture that getting
caught up in one s own story is the opposite of animating life, rather, the loss of life. When one is
caught up in their own story, all other stories around it cease to be narratable. By figurative
reasoning, when someone s story becomes un narratable, the life which the story sustains can no
longer exist. Arthur Frank comments that stories are symbiotic, Stories and people need each other.
(Frank 37) A person cannot live without stories and stories can be created, or destroyed, by people.
Frankenstein teaches us that stories are dangerous and out of control, but we depend on them to
animate life and without them, life ceases to

Italian Immigration Policy Analysis
Italy
Italy s basic information which consists of its capital Rome, and the name of Italy s president is
Sergio Mattarella. Italy has a currency of euro, with its Gross domestic product being 2.149 trillion
USD in 2013. In addition to these facts Italy has themes that connect together, and to its historical
context. Specifically, I will focus on 3 current events that have happened in Italy that pertain to
immigration, which stems from broader themes like Italy s political system, and nationalist nature.
Through some journal articles I was able to find information that pertains to my current events on
Italy s immigration policies, and its historical context. Therefore, these themes make up Italy s

focusing on Italy s immigration policy specifically in the fact that recently in the last decade, Italian
immigration policies have hardened, above all in the period 2008 2011, with the advent of a

by reproducing and reinforcing structural inequalities among immigrants. It was intriguing that,
many civil society organizations struggled against these policies. , which could show Italy s
vulnerability. It is also important to note that, Italian migration and citizenship policies tend to deny
the fact that immigration in Italy is now a structural phenomenon embedded in the labor market and
Italian society , ultimately affecting Italy s social structure. Likewise, through my research I found
that one author of my research articles, argues that this reluctance to accept the fact of immigration
is exacerbated by Italy s fragile national social cohesion, which has led to policy attempts to
buttress social cohesion with respect to immigrants relationship to Italian society. The Italian
version of social cohesion is based on an implicit model of immigrant integration and a citizenship

The New Perspective On Paul
The New Perspective on Paul is a view which reexamines the first century context in which Paul
wrote and thus certain messages he conveys in his Epistles. It challenges the traditional views on
various doctrines drawn from Paul s writings during the Reformation, suggesting the Reformers
were incorrect in their interpretations. While the New Perspective on Paul is certainly thought
provoking and even brings up some good points regarding historical context, the Church should
treat it with caution and not regard it as a replacement for the traditional views of justification,
righteousness, or salvation.

about Second Temple Judaism to the growing concept. In 1983 he published an article titled The
New Perspective on Paul in which he argued that Paul s problem with Judaism was Jewish
nationalism rather than legalism, in contrast to the notions asserted by the Reformers (Williams

holds and supports the views of the New Perspective, albeit with his own additions. Twenty years
after the publication of Paul and Palestinian Judaism, Write published his own work on the subject;
What Saint Paul Really Said. What sets Write apart from Sanders and Dunn is his assertion that the
curse found in Deuteronomy 27 29 was still in effect against Israel in the first century, manifested
by the Roman rule of Palestine. It is this exile and curse that the Messiah came to end, in addition to
fulfilling the one and only Covenant, in the view of Write (Write, Justification 60, 95).

Essay on The Fifth Discipline by Peter Senge
The Fifth Discipline by Peter Senge
In his book The Fifth Discipline, Peter Senge emphasizes his model of a learning organization,
which he defines as an organization that is continually expanding its capacity to create its future. A
learning organization excels at both adaptive learning and generative learning.
Senge describes five disciplines that are necessary for a learning organization. Learning
organization is a catchphrase covering the ideal of an organization built on vision, teamwork,
openness, flexibility, ability to act under changing conditions, and so forth and so on. It is an
organization where people don t just promote their limited region and privileges, but where they
take risks and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Going beyond simply holding on to one s beliefs as conclusive, examining which models one is
actually operating on. Personal mastery means working on developing one s vision, one s
abilities, and one s focus of energy on a personal level. It is a divine inner drive to practice
mastery, to be the best that one can be. Systems thinking is the fifth discipline. It is the ability and
practice of examining the whole system on a regular basis, rather than just trying to fix certain
problems. It is also using the conceptual framework and tools of systems thinking to clarify the full
patterns and to understand how to effect the most change.
Senge s five components of a learning organization all work together. Personal mastery, shared
vision, team learning, and mental models lay the groundwork for the organization. And systems
thinking is the glue that makes it together. In order for the learning organization to work, each of
the five disciplines must be developed at the same time and incorporated with one another.
Applying Senge s model to the typical corporate mission of increasing shareholder value is
perceptive. The Fifth Discipline calls this vision limited, since it does not consider what leads up to
the increase in shareholder value. The typical corporate mission limits the organization s thinking to
only one part of a problem. As an example, Senge states

What Is Ernest Hemingway Code Hero
Each person has their own perception of what a hero is. Ernest Hemingway has a specific set of
guidelines to identify who is a hero and who isn t: Code Hero. Hemingway s code entails following
the ideals of honor, courage and endurance in a world that is sometimes chaotic, often stressful, and
always painful. Two characters, each written by Ernest Hemingwayand John Steinbeck,
respectively, both demonstrate and fall short of Hemingway s standard. Santiago, of Ernest

How Did Machiavelli s Political Views Influence American...
In The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli, Machiavelli writes about 16th century principalities and
how its princes should act. However, while these ideals may seem dated, Machiavelli s description
holds many similarities and differences to American politics today. Machiavelli s views on
republics serve as the first difference between his political views and the American government.
Machiavelli generally puts those in a republic in a negative light by claiming that the subjects of
a republic are not used to standing up for themselves and cannot agree to give themselves a
leader. Therefore, it is not a sturdy government to capture. Instead of finding the idea of no
singular person being a leader a good way to ensure statewide cooperation and content,
Machiavelli claims that, In republics there is more vitality, greater hatred, and more desire for
vengeance, (Machiavelli, Chapter V). Which is a far cry to the American government s oath to
all of its freedoms and liberties. Machiavelli moves on to say that the safest way to capture a
republic state is to destroy it altogether. This shows his views on republics are very much negative
and that he believes they are almost a nuisance to a prince trying to maintain a state. Of course this
is a drastic difference to the American government, where its subjects thrive in a republic. In other
words, while Machiavelli believes no state could be maintained as a republic, the American
government proves that it could still be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Theme Of The Wife Of His Youth
The Wife of His Youth is an 1898 historical fiction short story by author Charles W. Chesnutt.
Charles Chestnutt is the first African American writer to use folklore in series literature. He was
born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 20, 1858, but spent most of his childhood in Fayetteville, North
Carolina. Growing up in the south had a lasting impact on him, in that it furnished rich material for
his fiction. Therefore, it is not surprising that Chestnutt s characters, settings, scenes and institutions
reflect North Carolina s culture. As a creative writer blossoming in the 1880s, Chesnutt believed
that he could use folklore to stem the tide of racist thinking depicted by the plantation school
writers, such as Thomas Nelson Page and others, who wrote of slavery as a benevolent system.
However, by 1905, Chestnutt realized that fiction was not the route to bring America around to
treating African Americans with the same respect as whites. Consequently, with this realization
Chestnutt became a fighter against discrimination with his voice. He made speeches and wrote
essays against all kinds of discrimination (Young). In his short story The Wife of His Youth ,
Chesnutt combines the themes of racial identity and colorism to create the conflict at the center of
the story. The prose introduces the readers to a man... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Brief Note On Air And Water Pollution
There was a unique policy window for air and water pollution because of the fast growing
involvement with the Environmental movement. On April 22nd 1970 the nation held it s first
Earth Day. Americans were eager to participate to demonstrate their loyalty to the planet. This
accompanied by Nixon and other policy entrepreneurs ability to obtain a better solution to the
air quality problem, resulted in the Clean Air Act. It was easier to generate the public s support
because public health became such a concern. Environmental issues were becoming visible to
those who didn t care before. The Cuyahoga River fire in Ohio was one of many problems being
discovered by the public. The Santa Barbra oil spill and large amounts of smog in cities like Los
Angeles, all allowed people to see the real issues with pollution. Pollution became such a visible
issue to the public because it directly affected them, they were more inclined to support
environmental policy.
Once the public made it clear that air pollution was a major concern, President Richard Nixon
began to aggressively support the environmental issues. After the massive participation in the first
Earth Day in 1970, Nixon signed an executive order to establish the Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA). The EPA was created to be primarily in control of the Clean Air Act regulations and
enforcement. Senator Edmund Muskie was another key political entrepreneur for the CAA. It was

The Communist Manifesto By Karl Marx
Michelle Gu
Professor Christine Abbott
English C101
05 July 2015
The Struggle is Real Throughout history, class structures have invaded every crack of society.
People were characterized based on their job, their family background, their income, and etc. With
those of higher status holding all the power, class struggles were inevitable. The poor would battle
the rich and the oppressed would battle the oppressor. During the time The Communist Manifesto
was written, we can see two distinct classes battling out as well. These two classes are the
bourgeoisie and the proletariat. According to Karl Marx in The Communist Manifesto , the battle
will end either in a revolutionary reconstitution of society at large, or in the common ruin of the
contending classes (Marx 8). Marx argues that in the end the proletariat would remain because the
bourgeoisie are unstable and the bourgeoisie unknowingly armed the proletarians to rebel. To
understand the arguments and theories of Karl Marx in The Communist Manifesto , one must
know the difference between the bourgeoisie and the proletariat. Due to the discovery of new
land and the opening of markets, the bourgeoisie arose and with it the proletariat. The
bourgeoisie is made up of business/property owners and the proletariat is made up of the working
class, who work for the bourgeoisie. With the means of producing goods, the bourgeoisie led
society into a new era in which goods were being mass produced and relations were strictly

Native Americans And The War On Natives
Imagine living in one place your whole life, that place is the only place you know. Now imagine
people you have never seen before come, kill your family, spread disease, and take the land for
themselves. That is what happened to the Native Americans in the 1700 s and 1800 s. One of the
most disrespectful and saddest times in American History was in the 1850 s with Westward
Expansion and the war on Natives. During that time, there were many new cities being built in the
East and the United States inevitably got too crowded in the East. Americans traveled west for
more land and opportunity, but this is where most of the Indians were living at the time. Did the
Native Americans have an aggressive nature, or did the Whites cause them to be hostile? The
Whites greed almost caused the extinction of Native Americans and caused them to become hostile
towards the Whites. With the Industrial Revolution going on, the world s population was growing
rapidly with all the new medicine, technology, and agriculture being invented. America seem
especially appealing because the country was so young with many opportunities. With all the new
immigrants, the adventure seekers traveled west in search of new experiences. This is called
Westward Expansion. They found new plants, animals, and gold. Everything was perfect for the
White men except one thing, the inhabitants of this wonderful land. The Natives were seen as dirty,
and behind in technology. The Whites also wanted the land for themselves.

Splintered Essay On Alice In Wonderland
Published in 2013 by Amulet Paperbacks, Splintered is the first book of the heart warming
Splintered series written by A.G Howard, filled to the brim with heartbreaks, sacrifices, and
betrayals. There are multiple genres in which this book fits in. These genres include Romance,
Adventure, and Fantasy, with some scenes of affection and many more adventures, laced with
difficulties and trials. The protagonist of Splintered is a naive and stubborn teenage girl named
Alyssa Gardner with a strange hobby of using insects for her morbid mosaics and also the daughter
of a father with a mysterious past and a mother in an asylum for attempted murder. And the
antagonist? Well, that s up to you to decide.

It is told in Alyssa s point of view. Howard has somehow weaved all these fantastically complex
and interesting details into one book perfectly. It fits into most of the things that Alice in
Wonderland introduces but makes the reader think that all of the beauty and the light is mistaken,
for this book is set in a dark and mad landscape with creatures inside of which Tim Burton would
be proud of. In Wonderland, Howard makes Wonderland make no sense. As Morpheus says:
You understand the logic behind the illogical, Alyssa.
Morpheus is stating that there is sense behind nonsense, which is complete and utterly nonsense.
Which sort of makes sense, because it is Wonderland they are talking about, where there is logic
behind the illogical .
Personally, this book is one of the best books I have ever read. I am really into this book and the
way that it jumps off of Alice in Wonderland makes it really enticing, perhaps because I am a
huge fan of Alice in Wonderland. The detail of the setting, the characters, and the emotions make it
very realistic and full of life as if you could almost hear the heartbeat of each of the characters in
the book. This is truly a must read and I highly recommend this

The Seatbelt Law, By Thomas Hobbes, And Jean Jacques Rousseau
INTRODUCTION
Every day millions of people around the United States commute daily to work, and to run their
errands. In almost every state in the United States, wearing a seatbelt is required. Many people
ask why they should have to wear a seatbelt in their private vehicles, while others agree that
everybody definitely should wear their seatbelt. Should the government be able to create and
enforce this laws such as this one on the public? This paper will discuss the seatbelt law, the views
of philosophers Thomas Hobbes, and Jean Jacques Rousseau, and whether or not this law is ethical.
THOMAS HOBBES Thomas Hobbes (1588 1679) was an English philosopher who is best known
for his work in political ethics. Hobbes had a pessimistic view of the human race, however his
theory has been used as a major influence on western political views. In 1651, Thomas Hobbes
wrote Leviathan, in which he states that life before government was violent, brutal, and barbaric.
Hobbes continues on to argue that civil peace and social unity are best achieved by the
establishment of a commonwealth through social contract. Leviathan consisted of four books: 1.)
Of Man, 2.) Of Commonwealth, 3.) Of a Christian Commonwealth, and 4.) Of the Kingdom of
Darkness. The first book contains the philosophical context, while the second book outlines the
rights of the citizens within the commonwealth. The third book argues against certain scriptures,
and whether or not a person can claim supernatural

The lackluster effort of the Fed to control the money supply shows their true hand. In the mid to
late 70s, the increasing inflation had gone out of control, and Volcker made it his mission to
stop that inflation. To the members of the Federal Reserve Board, this policy was clearly to
reduce inflation, but market outsiders were confused by the Fed s switch in policy, and scared
by the volatility of the money supply. In 1981, the uncertainty of Federal Reserve policy could be
seen in the bond markets, which rely heavily on stable interest rates. According to Greider, the
bond market had a traumatic seizure that could best be described as an anxiety attack in April of
1981, as a result of the monetary policy pursued by the Fed, which fundamentally abandoned the
control of interest rates (Greider 374). With the new policy, the Fed caused interest rates to
fluctuate with the money supply, which relies heavily on the velocity of money, or the amount of
times money changes hands over an interval of time. Monetarists believed that the velocity of
money was constant, and criticized the Fed for not simply increasing the money supply slowly over
time, but tit became clear in the early 80s that the velocity was not constant at all. Even though

Increasing Cross Functional Planning For Success
Increasing Cross Functional Planning for Success
The education industry is ripe for disruption. Private equity funding is surging into the education
market (Bryant Sarakatsannis, 2015). In order for a large multinational education company to both
disrupt itself, and fend off disruptive technologies within the education market, the company must
increase the leadership teams abilities to collaboratively plan and adjust to market changes. The
company has used agile development practices for many years, and began strategic planning in an
agile fashion for the technology divisions. To be able to respond to disruptive market forces, the
company should embrace strategic agile planning across their traditional publishing arm as it
merges with technology development (Parker, 2012). This proposal for senior leadership includes
an overview of the organization with a discussion on current challenges in cross functional strategic
planning, and operational execution, given the current business and internal climate, an overview
of four leadership theories which provide specific perspectives in helping senior leadership in
solving cross functional planning challenges, with a recommended action plan aligned with the
organization mission, vision, ethics and globally diverse workforce.

Jackson vs. Calhoun and the Nullification Crisis
It has been rare in American history for presidents and vice presidents not to get along, but it has
happened on a few occasions: Adams and Jefferson, Kennedy and Johnson, and Eisenhower and
Nixon are a few examples (Jackson vs. Calhoun Part 1 1). However, the most controversial
relationship between president and his assistant was between Andrew Jackson and John C. Calhoun.
Their disagreements began very early on in Jackson s administration, and lasted until after the
resolution of the Nullification Crisis. Nullification is the refusal of a state to recognize a federal
law within its boundaries and deem that law unconstitutional. In this case, South Carolina, led by
John C. Calhoun, refused to recognize the protective tariffs in 1828, and... Show more content on

Union.
Although Calhoun had stated in his Ordinance that South Carolina would not respond to any
forceful acts by the government to attempt to get Calhoun to back down, Jackson found a way to
outsmart his opponent. Jackson had congress pass a bill in 1833, which allowed him to use
soldiers to enforce the tariff measures (Nullification Crisis 1). After the Force Bill was passed,
Jackson sent several warships and hundreds of soldiers to Charleston to enforce the laws of the
government. Some people argue that what Jackson did was wrong because based on the
constitution, Calhoun had the right to declare Nullification for South Carolina. However, what
Jackson did was also constitutional and enabled the United States of America to remain as one. Had
Jackson not passed the Force Bill immediately after South Carolina s Ordinance was received,

There is much debate on whether the government should have a big or lesser role in regulating the

government should receive a lesser role in regulating the economy because of how it affects
individuals in global trade and corporations. Less government regulation in global trade will be a
better decision and create lesser problems. The purpose of the government in a global trade is to

What Does Today Owe Tomorrow tackles the question whether we should help the future
generation even if they have not done anything to give back. Scientists believed that (3) if we
continue pouring greenhouse gases into the atmosphere at ever rising rates, the unknown will
remain substantial because of how much of the present will affect the suffering of the future
people. However, economists in the field believe that the thing to do is to put a price on
emissions of greenhouses gases that would raise the price of gasoline and electricity. Doing this
would stop emissions and people would want to buy better and efficient cars. Because this is
unknown, another likely answer is to push harder on climate policies or increase emissions price.

involving individuals have fallen 4.2 to 3.6. With the use of the First Amendment, corporations use

The High Cost of College Tuition
College Tuition
The cost of college education in the 21st century is absolutely ridiculous. although colleges have
to make money to support things like sports, it is making it so more and more kids aren t going
to college, and the kids who do go are coming out with huge amounts of debt. People who go to
college aren t coming out with the job that they think they deserve, which is leading to lower
income, and a harder time paying off their college debt.
The first part of this paper is going to be talking about how college is so over priced and why it
shouldn t be so expensive. By colleges making the price of their tuition so high it is making it so
that less kids are able to go to college, which makes it so that when kids come out of high school
they are working at low end jobs and are having trouble making enough money to support
themselves. In 1930 tuition was fairly low, and students could attend wharton Business school
for $250 (best online colleges). This relates back to the thesis about how less kids are going to
college because of how much money it. back in 1930 almost 70% of kids went to college. In
2013 only about 50% of high school grads are going to college. And for the 50% of kids who are
going to college, most of them are coming out with huge amounts of debt that is taking them year to
pay off.
Because of the drastic rise in college tuition, it has made it so that the kids who are going to college
are coming out with more debt than they can handle. Between

Bolsheviks Seizure of Power in 1917
There are many factors that help explain how and why the Bolsheviks managed to seize power in
1917. It was a combination of long and short term causes that together, created a revolution. The
political system itself was long overdue for reform, but with a weak Tsar, the economic and social
conditions became worse and worse. In 23 years, Nicholas II dropped from the glorious Little
Father of Russia to prisoners of his own country, hatred and despised by the majority, for the
suffering and unhappiness he had helped create.

Overcrowding, terrible food, disease and alcoholism were everyday happenings. Peasants began to
realise that working in the factories was no better than working on the land.
As a result of this industrialisation, a new class of people called the Capitalists began to emerge in
Russia. These were the new middle class, which Russia had only seen as shopkeepers and university
lecturers, but landowners, bankers, industrialists and businessmen flourished. The capitalist s main
concern was the management of the economy and controlling their workforce. The clashes between
the workers and the capitalists are another huge factor that lead up to the revolution in 1917.
Not everyone however was readily loyal to the Tsar as explained earlier. Many middle class people
wanted greater democracy in Russia and wanted, like Britain, a monarch but also a powerful
parliament. These were called liberals or Cadets.
The two other groups were more passionately opposed to the Tsar and believed revolution was the
key to Russia s problems. The Socialist Revolutionaries were a radical movement that believed
violence was the only way to revolution, and support for them was wide spread. Their aims were to
divide the huge estates from the nobility and hand them over to the peasants. The socialist

The Cultural World of Jewish Women Explained in Daughters...
The writings of Alicia Ramos GonzГЎlez in her work Daughters of Tradition discuss, in great
detail, the cultural world of Jewish women in Eastern Europe during the 16th 19th century. I believe
that culture takes root in ones identity not only as an individual, but also in ones identity with their
people and nation. Based on this belief, I have chosen to focus my explorations on the patterns
found in the bases of Jewish identity among the women in Yiddish culture during this time. Despite
the negative impacts towards gender equality which arose though preventing women from
obtaining skills such as learning Hebrew scripture, the Yiddish heritage has benefitted greatly in
part of this gender gap and has become a cornerstone in the bases of the identity found throughout
all Jewish Women.
The first time I read GonzГЎlez s work I saw the lack of integration amongst men and women as a
setback; women were not given the same opportunities as men were given during this time. While
this widens the gap in gender equality in respect to opportunities and personal choices, women
were not seen as the inferior sex. After reading a second time I realized that while women s
obligations and responsibilities are different from men s, they are no less important. The equality
amongst men and women in Judaism begins at the highest possible level due to the fact that God
is seen as neither a man nor a woman. He is only referred to as male out of convenience since there
are no gender neutral terms

The Is A Severe Disorder
Prosopagnosia is a severe disorder which the person cannot recognize recognizable people from
the face. Prosopagnosia is also known as face blindness. Face blindness is a recognized disorder; it
can vary from person to person and situation to situation. It is not an issue with vision or absent
mindedness. People with prosopagnosiahave trouble with physical recognition. Recognition and
memory are different. Memory is the thoughts, opinions and past experiences that is in our
mind. The face is the key to accessing the memory of the person. We may forget someone here
and there, but that s not a big deal. People with prosopagnosia forget often and could even forget
their family. While some people have a very selective impairment that only influences the
recognition of faces, others find have the disorder that extends to the recognition of other stimuli,
such as objects, cars, or animals. Many people also report deficits in other aspects of face
processing, such as judging age or gender, recognizing certain emotional expressions, or following
the direction of a person s eye gaze. Finally, a substantial proportion of prosopagnosics reports
navigational difficulties. (Sarah Bate 2015)
The sensation is the process by which our sensory receptors and nervous system receive and
represent stimulus energies from our environment. Perception is the process or organizing and
interpreting sensory information, enabling us to recognize meaningful objects and events.

Description Of The Model Of 11 Submodels Essay
The model
The model consisted in 11 submodels, one equation was used to calculate a random population
and simulate the IAA to each individual for all treatment (level of methionine+cysteine). The FI
and MCI are describing according to the performance of the flock population, with the price of
amino acid is calculated the feed cost with the increase of IAA. The model preconized that the
optimum IAA is dependent on the economic variables, therefore the model defines the NR with the
variation of the amino acid prices and sale poultry. The optimum IAA is determined by the
relationship between IAA and NR.
The input of model is: 1 Ој of broiler; 2 SD, 3 parameters of the monomolecular model, 4 cost of
standard diet, 5 price of sale poultry, 6 parameters to estimate energy, 7 number of animals that wish
to simulate. The model output is the NR and the optimum amino acid intake.
Statistical approach and mathematical models
The model described simulates the potential performance and hence nutrient requirements at a flock
bird level, for this simulation needed of the Вµ and Пѓ of the population, this parameter can be
acquired from experiments or literature data. Body weight gain (BWG.R) with random numbers
from a standardized normally distributed population were generated using the following generalized
equation (1):
BWG.R = ((SQRT ( 2Г—LN(RUNIF( )))Г—SIN(2Г—PI( )Г—RUNIF( ))) Г— Пѓ + Вµ, Equation

BWG.R is the BWG for a random population, RUNIF() is a random number from a

Why Are Professional Athletes Overpaid
Professional athletes are paid a lot every year, sometimes more than a regular middle class
working citizen is paid in a lifetime. Is this fair? Many think it is not, but just as many think it
is. Professional athletes are overpaid for many reasons, one being they are paid a lot more than
people who save lives for a living, another is that they do not need all the money, and lastly
because they get millions for something that is an entertainment, and could be lived without.
Doctors are paid, on average, about 500,000 dollars a year at the highest. They help people and
perform life saving surgeries. The highest average a lawyer is paid yearly is 170,000 dollars, if
they are really experienced. Lawyers bring justice to our land. Doctors and lawyers are some of
the most high paid jobs, but who is paid higher? Professional athletes. According to a 2007 study
by Sports Illustrated, the least paid player in the NFL gets paid more than twice the amount
doctors get paid, and it s considered low. This is one of the easiest reasons to use to prove that
professional athletes are overpaid.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We haven t ever struggled with money and live comfortably. Obviously more money would not
hurt us, but we wouldn t necessarily need it. We are upper middle class. That alone suggests
there are many more families and individuals out there who live off of much less and they deal
with it. In addition, there are a lot who cannot live with much less than that. Every time I go to a
city or highly populated are there are always people living on the streets, in homeless shelters,
under bridges and in subway stations. There are people who play instruments or sing to get a few
dollars for their dinner. People who flatout beg for money on the street corners. After seeing that
we still have people doing this, how can we not realize that you do not need to be paid millions to
play a

Dental Pathology Of Surgical Pathology
At the age of 3 years, most little girls are playing with Barbie Dolls, tea party sets and an
occasional pink soccer ball. My years were spent in the Surgical Pathology suite goggling over
various organ cancers with assorted Surgeons and my enthusiastic Mother. In fact, unlike most kids
dreading to go to work with a parent, I thought it was an exciting experience. Around the age of
twelve I realized that I was interested in the field of medicine. Namely Surgical Pathology.
I decided to delve deeper and start to ask my mentor (My unconventional, eccentric, and ever
worrying Mother) more and queried her about daily activities that she does as a Surgical
Pathologist. To begin her week, work starts around 7:30 am. After arriving she... Show more

It can be used on all tissues and it helps Pathologists identify the cytoplasmic and nuclear
structure of a cell. More specific stains seek to answer other questions specific to the patient s
condition. For example, an Iron stain may be required in a patient who underwent a liver biopsy
looking for a disease such as Hemochromatosis or other iron storage condition. Other types of
special stains may be necessary to examine the tissue for infection. An example would be in a lung
biopsy where the patient may have a fungus infection such as Aspergillous. A special stain of PAS
/Light Green may be utilized to bring out the fungus if present which may not be evident on routine
H E stains. In the 21st century, molecular markers are currently in vogue. Breast cancer requires a
number of immunohistochemical markers such as Estrogen and Progesterone. These special stains
are looking for the antibody to Estrogen or Progresterone in the patient s breast cancer tissue. If this
is present, the Oncologist may treat the patient with certain drugs like Tamoxifin. Herceptin may be
used in patient s who have a positive Her2neu antibody. This may be measured by standard
immunohistochemistry as in Estrogen or Progesterone measurements. The alternative is to use a
molecular testing to quantify the receptors of Her2neu receptors. The above simply illustrates in
the most basic way a most complex topic utilizing whole tissue samples. Many times large tissue

Allusion In Dustland Fairytale
The writer of Dustland Fairytale , Brandon Flowers, best employs allusion as well as diction to
prove the theme not everything in life goes perfectly. Throughout the song, Flowers changes the
music to represent different events a couple may face, while using diction, specific word choice
at certain points, to metaphorically represent the situations the couple, which turned out to be
Flowers parents, may be in. The song starts off softly, using word choice like some kind of slick
chrome American prince (Flowers 7) to paint a picture of the perfect fairytale like couple. The
story then takes a darker turn using words such as Out here the good girls die (Flowers 32) to
represent his mother getting a brain tumor, and how it would affect the... Show more content on

When he writes Saw Cinderella in a party dress and I threw my money and I ran away (Flowers
20 22), the listener is able to see how some people would give up if they had to struggle with a
family member, especially a significant other, or a mother, having a brain tumor. Since the
lyrics are dark at this point, the listener is able to understand that the reason he threw his money
away is because, the ending of the fairytale wasn t perfect. In most fairy tales, there is a point
where all hope seems lost, like when Cinderella lost her shoe and the prince couldn t find her.
Then, it all comes together to resolve and make the perfect ending like when the prince and
Cinderella found each other and fell in love. In this fairytale, however, Flowers indicated that it
seemed that this story wouldn t have a perfect ending after all. Flowers also uses Cinderella to
relate her story to the couple s time urgency; Cinderella only had a certain amount of time left in
her dress, just like how the mother only has a certain amount of time left before she passes.
Throughout the story, the listener is able to fully understand how important it is to be ready for
difficulties, especially ones that are unexpected and effect

Directed by Kathryn Bigelow, the motion picture subtly depicts the dire individual and interpersonal effects of the war at both an emotional and psychological perspective. The focus is evident during the filmthrough a variety of scenes that highlight the human experiences rather than a political one by incorporating numerous film techniques. Large circles represent a higher density of population (urban areas) and smaller scale is a smaller density of population (rural areas). I had use the Miller cylindrical map projection for my two variable thematic map for the following reason; first being the map is due to the accuracy and clearly defined of local shapes. We are displaying geographic data and it is important to have a projection that does not distort the area to effectively map the data. Secondly the map avoids scale exaggeration, which is also important when mapping geographic data within regions. One manipulation I had made to my map to improve the communicative effectiveness of my map, was to only emphasize the borders of France to clearly define the geographic area where the data is applicable. • 4. Mad Men Symbolism The 1960 s was still in the midst of the throwaway society. Everyone wanted everything new. Anything that was old or outdated was thrown into the garbage. There was no talk about recycling. In one scene Don is having a picnic with his family and when they are done, don s wife flips over the picnic blanket and scatters their leftover litter everywhere, don also throws his finished beer can into the lake. The symbolism is that they are materialistic. They check their hands, so they don t dirty the car, but it s okay to pollute the property they don t own. Unhealthy habits were not questioned in the 1960 s. Consequently, as long as everyone got along and looked the part an unhealthy habit was ignored. Advertisement dominated many people s decision making reasoning. If people saw an ad encouraging smoking they wanted to smoke as well. You never second guessed what you were told or else you were thought of as a rebel or someone who went against the grains of society. Such as Smoking in the 1960 s was the thing to do; it was not questioned. It would be equivalent to owning a cell phone today or not owning one. You are considered odd if you didn t follow along. Roger Sterling is one character in Mad Men rarely seen without a glass of vodka in his hand even at work. Drinking and smoking on the job was the social norm, as long as everyone behaved, it was accepted. Women s role in society was to behave and shape themselves to fit into men s ideals. As discussed previously the beginning of the Council was a rough start with President Truman not attending any of the meetings and relying on the cabinet members to pass the information along to him as it came. President Truman believed that the Secretary of State should sit in as the chairman, and the Council was a forum for studying and appraising problems and making recommendations, but not the one for setting policy or serving as a centralized office to coordinate implementation (Best 2011, 10). Later on the Hoover Commission made the recommendation that a better relationship between the Council and the Joint Chief of Staff would best serve the president. Shortly after President Truman, no longer made the chairman the Secretary of State but that the President should fill this position (Rosati and Scott 2013, 115). Under the Kennedy administration, the attempt was made from the beginning to cut a lot from the Council. Kennedy made the position of Director of the Office of Emergency Planning to the Council. This position was to be used in case of an emergency to coronate any type of response that might be necessary. Like Truman, Kennedy made most of the biggest decisions outside of the regular Council sessions more of an informal session with his closest advisors there (Best 2011, 13). Throughout the book Quinn explores many factual scientific principals, but the intent of the book is not to give one a lecture on science. The intentions of Quinn are to discuss and examine the beginnings and also the history of our ecologically dominating culture in which we live in. In this book, Ishmael is a telepathic, highly educated gorilla who explores with his fifth pupil the stories of the Takers and the Leavers. To the Takers point of view, the world before them seemed to be chaotic, messy, and in need of some straightening out. The basic premise of the Takers philosophy is that man is in conflict with nature, and this position at the apex of evolution can only be maintained by completely and totally conquering the world. An example of this is when Ishmael explains, We re destroying the world because we are, in a very literal and deliberate way, at war with it (Quinn 130). The Takers that the natural law does not apply to man and his science and technology offer protection from the hunger, sickness, and certain death, in which all other species in the wild suffer from. Therefore man is free to act with malice toward the world without any consequences from these actions in which he does. As a society of Takers, what can we do to curb the destruction of our planets resources? As Ishmael states, What were you expecting a magic word that would sweep all the nastiness away? (Quinn 250). Here, Quinn is saying that our culture s destructive tendencies are not something that will self correct it self or just simply disappear. This means that for around thirty eight years, between approximately two to seven days a month, a woman bleeds as her uterus sheds and menstrual blood flows from the opening in the cervix out of the vagina (Nelson). During those times women are in need of feminine hygiene products. In the majority of our country women pay sales tax on these necessary products. Buck said this in context inferring that removing the sales tax on items such as men s razors and razor blades would level the field between sales tax placed on products specifically meant for women or men (Stice). There are two issues with this solution. One being that women will then want the sales tax removed from their razors and razor blades as well, putting men behind in what seems to be some sort of government taxation game. This game would then cause a slippery slope of requests for sales tax cuts on any number of male or female specific products. The second issue being that in no way are razors an absolute necessity. Even still, the creature is suddenly thrust into being; thrust into an amalgamation of ebbing and flowing stories and forced to carve out a story of his own. It can be reasoned that everything which exhibits what we classify as life carries with it the capacity to simultaneously create and be shaped by stories. Shelley s intentional decision to keep the methods of the monster s creation hidden allows for the story of the monster itself to be what truly gives him life and consequently, the story of Frankenstein and his monster has breathed life into many modern discussions.... (Shelley 151) It is interesting to conjecture that getting caught up in one s own story is the opposite of animating life, rather, the loss of life. When one is caught up in their own story, all other stories around it cease to be narratable. By figurative reasoning, when someone s story becomes un narratable, the life which the story sustains can no longer exist. Arthur Frank comments that stories are symbiotic, Stories and people need each other. (Frank 37) A person cannot live without stories and stories can be created, or destroyed, by people. It is the ability and practice of examining the whole system on a regular basis, rather than just trying to fix certain problems. However, while these ideals may seem dated, Machiavelli s description holds many similarities and differences to American politics today. Machiavelli s views on republics serve as the first difference between his political views and the American government. Machiavelli generally puts those in a republic in a negative light by claiming that the subjects of a republic are not used to standing up for themselves and cannot agree to give themselves a leader. Therefore, it is not a sturdy government to capture. Instead of finding the idea of no singular person being a leader a good way to ensure statewide cooperation and content, Machiavelli claims that, In republics there is more vitality, greater hatred, and more desire for vengeance, (Machiavelli, Chapter V). Which is a far cry to the American government s oath to all of its freedoms and liberties. Machiavelli moves on to say that the safest way to capture a republic state is to destroy it altogether. This shows his views on republics are very much negative and that he believes they are almost a nuisance to a prince trying to maintain a state. • 21. Theme Of The Wife Of His Youth The Wife of His Youth is an 1898 historical fiction short story by author Charles W. Chesnutt. Charles Chestnutt is the first African American writer to use folklore in series literature. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 20, 1858, but spent most of his childhood in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Growing up in the south had a lasting impact on him, in that it furnished rich material for his fiction. Therefore, it is not surprising that Chestnutt s characters, settings, scenes and institutions reflect North Carolina s culture. As a creative writer blossoming in the 1880s, Chesnutt believed that he could use folklore to stem the tide of racist thinking depicted by the plantation school writers, such as Thomas Nelson Page and others, who wrote of slavery as a benevolent system. However, by 1905, Chestnutt realized that fiction was not the route to bring America around to treating African Americans with the same respect as whites. Consequently, with this realization Chestnutt became a fighter against discrimination with his voice. He made speeches and wrote essays against all kinds of discrimination (Young). In his short story The Wife of His Youth , Chesnutt combines the themes of racial identity and colorism to create the conflict at the center of the story. The prose introduces the readers to a man... • 22. A Brief Note On Air And Water Pollution There was a unique policy window for air and water pollution because of the fast growing involvement with the Environmental movement. On April 22nd 1970 the nation held it s first Earth Day. Americans were eager to participate to demonstrate their loyalty to the planet. This accompanied by Nixon and other policy entrepreneurs ability to obtain a better solution to the air quality problem, resulted in the Clean Air Act. It was easier to generate the public s support because public health became such a concern. Environmental issues were becoming visible to those who didn t care before. The Cuyahoga River fire in Ohio was one of many problems being discovered by the public. The Santa Barbra oil spill and large amounts of smog in cities like Los Angeles, all allowed people to see the real issues with pollution. Pollution became such a visible issue to the public because it directly affected them, they were more inclined to support environmental policy. Once the public made it clear that air pollution was a major concern, President Richard Nixon began to aggressively support the environmental issues. After the massive participation in the first Earth Day in 1970, Nixon signed an executive order to establish the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The EPA was created to be primarily in control of the Clean Air Act regulations and enforcement. Senator Edmund Muskie was another key political entrepreneur for the CAA. • 23. The Communist Manifesto By Karl Marx Michelle Gu Professor Christine Abbott English C101 05 July 2015 The Struggle is Real Throughout history, class structures have invaded every crack of society. People were characterized based on their job, their family background, their income, and etc. With those of higher status holding all the power, class struggles were inevitable. The poor would battle the rich and the oppressed would battle the oppressor. During the time The Communist Manifesto was written, we can see two distinct classes battling out as well. These two classes are the bourgeoisie and the proletariat. According to Karl Marx in The Communist Manifesto , the battle will end either in a revolutionary reconstitution of society at large, or in the common ruin of the contending classes (Marx 8). Marx argues that in the end the proletariat would remain because the bourgeoisie are unstable and the bourgeoisie unknowingly armed the proletarians to rebel. To understand the arguments and theories of Karl Marx in The Communist Manifesto , one must know the difference between the bourgeoisie and the proletariat. Due to the discovery of new land and the opening of markets, the bourgeoisie arose and with it the proletariat. The bourgeoisie is made up of business/property owners and the proletariat is made up of the working class, who work for the bourgeoisie. With the means of producing goods, the bourgeoisie led society into a new era in which goods were being mass produced and relations were strictly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Native Americans And The War On Natives Imagine living in one place your whole life, that place is the only place you know. Now imagine people you have never seen before come, kill your family, spread disease, and take the land for themselves. That is what happened to the Native Americans in the 1700 s and 1800 s. One of the most disrespectful and saddest times in American History was in the 1850 s with Westward Expansion and the war on Natives. During that time, there were many new cities being built in the East and the United States inevitably got too crowded in the East. Americans traveled west for more land and opportunity, but this is where most of the Indians were living at the time. Did the Native Americans have an aggressive nature, or did the Whites cause them to be hostile? The Whites greed almost caused the extinction of Native Americans and caused them to become hostile towards the Whites. With the Industrial Revolution going on, the world s population was growing rapidly with all the new medicine, technology, and agriculture being invented. America seem especially appealing because the country was so young with many opportunities. With all the new immigrants, the adventure seekers traveled west in search of new experiences. This is called Westward Expansion. They found new plants, animals, and gold. Everything was perfect for the White men except one thing, the inhabitants of this wonderful land. The Natives were seen as dirty, and behind in technology. The Whites also wanted the land for themselves. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Morpheus is stating that there is sense behind nonsense, which is complete and utterly nonsense. Which sort of makes sense, because it is Wonderland they are talking about, where there is logic behind the illogical . Personally, this book is one of the best books I have ever read. In almost every state in the United States, wearing a seatbelt is required. This paper will discuss the seatbelt law, the views of philosophers Thomas Hobbes, and Jean Jacques Rousseau, and whether or not this law is ethical. THOMAS HOBBES Thomas Hobbes (1588 1679) was an English philosopher who is best known for his work in political ethics. Hobbes had a pessimistic view of the human race, however his theory has been used as a major influence on western political views. In 1651, Thomas Hobbes wrote Leviathan, in which he states that life before government was violent, brutal, and barbaric. Hobbes continues on to argue that civil peace and social unity are best achieved by the establishment of a commonwealth through social contract. Leviathan consisted of four books: 1.) Of Man, 2.) Of Commonwealth, 3.) Of a Christian Commonwealth, and 4.) Of the Kingdom of Darkness. The first book contains the philosophical context, while the second book outlines the rights of the citizens within the commonwealth. The lackluster effort of the Fed to control the money supply shows their true hand. In the mid to late 70s, the increasing inflation had gone out of control, and Volcker made it his mission to stop that inflation. To the members of the Federal Reserve Board, this policy was clearly to reduce inflation, but market outsiders were confused by the Fed s switch in policy, and scared by the volatility of the money supply. In 1981, the uncertainty of Federal Reserve policy could be seen in the bond markets, which rely heavily on stable interest rates. According to Greider, the bond market had a traumatic seizure that could best be described as an anxiety attack in April of 1981, as a result of the monetary policy pursued by the Fed, which fundamentally abandoned the control of interest rates (Greider 374). With the new policy, the Fed caused interest rates to fluctuate with the money supply, which relies heavily on the velocity of money, or the amount of times money changes hands over an interval of time. Monetarists believed that the velocity of money was constant, and criticized the Fed for not simply increasing the money supply slowly over time, but tit became clear in the early 80s that the velocity was not constant at all. However, the most controversial relationship between president and his assistant was between Andrew Jackson and John C. Calhoun. Their disagreements began very early on in Jackson s administration, and lasted until after the resolution of the Nullification Crisis. The High Cost of College Tuition College Tuition The cost of college education in the 21st century is absolutely ridiculous. although colleges have to make money to support things like sports, it is making it so more and more kids aren t going to college, and the kids who do go are coming out with huge amounts of debt. People who go to college aren t coming out with the job that they think they deserve, which is leading to lower income, and a harder time paying off their college debt. The first part of this paper is going to be talking about how college is so over priced and why it shouldn t be so expensive. By colleges making the price of their tuition so high it is making it so that less kids are able to go to college, which makes it so that when kids come out of high school they are working at low end jobs and are having trouble making enough money to support themselves. In 1930 tuition was fairly low, and students could attend wharton Business school for $250 (best online colleges). This relates back to the thesis about how less kids are going to college because of how much money it. back in 1930 almost 70% of kids went to college. And for the 50% of kids who are going to college, most of them are coming out with huge amounts of debt that is taking them year to pay off. The political system itself was long overdue for reform, but with a weak Tsar, the economic and social conditions became worse and worse. The clashes between the workers and the capitalists are another huge factor that lead up to the revolution in 1917. Not everyone however was readily loyal to the Tsar as explained earlier. • 41. The Cultural World of Jewish Women Explained in Daughters... The writings of Alicia Ramos GonzГЎlez in her work Daughters of Tradition discuss, in great detail, the cultural world of Jewish women in Eastern Europe during the 16th 19th century. I believe that culture takes root in ones identity not only as an individual, but also in ones identity with their people and nation. Based on this belief, I have chosen to focus my explorations on the patterns found in the bases of Jewish identity among the women in Yiddish culture during this time. Despite the negative impacts towards gender equality which arose though preventing women from obtaining skills such as learning Hebrew scripture, the Yiddish heritage has benefitted greatly in part of this gender gap and has become a cornerstone in the bases of the identity found throughout all Jewish Women. The first time I read GonzГЎlez s work I saw the lack of integration amongst men and women as a setback; women were not given the same opportunities as men were given during this time. While this widens the gap in gender equality in respect to opportunities and personal choices, women were not seen as the inferior sex. After reading a second time I realized that while women s obligations and responsibilities are different from men s, they are no less important. The equality amongst men and women in Judaism begins at the highest possible level due to the fact that God is seen as neither a man nor a woman. He is only referred to as male out of convenience since there are no gender neutral terms ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many people also report deficits in other aspects of face processing, such as judging age or gender, recognizing certain emotional expressions, or following the direction of a person s eye gaze. Finally, a substantial proportion of prosopagnosics reports navigational difficulties. (Sarah Bate 2015) The sensation is the process by which our sensory receptors and nervous system receive and represent stimulus energies from our environment. Perception is the process or organizing and interpreting sensory information, enabling us to recognize meaningful objects and events. Organisms ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Description Of The Model Of 11 Submodels Essay The model The model consisted in 11 submodels, one equation was used to calculate a random population and simulate the IAA to each individual for all treatment (level of methionine+cysteine). The FI and MCI are describing according to the performance of the flock population, with the price of amino acid is calculated the feed cost with the increase of IAA. The model preconized that the optimum IAA is dependent on the economic variables, therefore the model defines the NR with the variation of the amino acid prices and sale poultry. The optimum IAA is determined by the relationship between IAA and NR. The input of model is: 1 Ој of broiler; 2 SD, 3 parameters of the monomolecular model, 4 cost of standard diet, 5 price of sale poultry, 6 parameters to estimate energy, 7 number of animals that wish to simulate. The model output is the NR and the optimum amino acid intake. Statistical approach and mathematical models The model described simulates the potential performance and hence nutrient requirements at a flock bird level, for this simulation needed of the Вµ and Пѓ of the population, this parameter can be acquired from experiments or literature data. Body weight gain (BWG.R) with random numbers from a standardized normally distributed population were generated using the following generalized equation (1): BWG.R = ((SQRT ( 2Г—LN(RUNIF( )))Г—SIN(2Г—PI( )Г—RUNIF( ))) Г— Пѓ + Вµ, Equation 1. BWG.R is the BWG for a random population, RUNIF() is a random number from a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Why Are Professional Athletes Overpaid Professional athletes are paid a lot every year, sometimes more than a regular middle class working citizen is paid in a lifetime. Is this fair? Many think it is not, but just as many think it is. Professional athletes are overpaid for many reasons, one being they are paid a lot more than people who save lives for a living, another is that they do not need all the money, and lastly because they get millions for something that is an entertainment, and could be lived without. Doctors are paid, on average, about 500,000 dollars a year at the highest. They help people and perform life saving surgeries. The highest average a lawyer is paid yearly is 170,000 dollars, if they are really experienced. Lawyers bring justice to our land. Doctors and lawyers are some of the most high paid jobs, but who is paid higher? Professional athletes. According to a 2007 study by Sports Illustrated, the least paid player in the NFL gets paid more than twice the amount doctors get paid, and it s considered low. This is one of the easiest reasons to use to prove that professional athletes are overpaid.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We haven t ever struggled with money and live comfortably. Obviously more money would not hurt us, but we wouldn t necessarily need it. We are upper middle class. That alone suggests there are many more families and individuals out there who live off of much less and they deal with it. In addition, there are a lot who cannot live with much less than that. Every time I go to a city or highly populated are there are always people living on the streets, in homeless shelters, under bridges and in subway stations. There are people who play instruments or sing to get a few dollars for their dinner. People who flatout beg for money on the street corners. After seeing that we still have people doing this, how can we not realize that you do not need to be paid millions to play a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Dental Pathology Of Surgical Pathology At the age of 3 years, most little girls are playing with Barbie Dolls, tea party sets and an occasional pink soccer ball. My years were spent in the Surgical Pathology suite goggling over various organ cancers with assorted Surgeons and my enthusiastic Mother. In fact, unlike most kids dreading to go to work with a parent, I thought it was an exciting experience. Around the age of twelve I realized that I was interested in the field of medicine. Namely Surgical Pathology. I decided to delve deeper and start to ask my mentor (My unconventional, eccentric, and ever worrying Mother) more and queried her about daily activities that she does as a Surgical Pathologist. To begin her week, work starts around 7:30 am. After arriving she... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It can be used on all tissues and it helps Pathologists identify the cytoplasmic and nuclear structure of a cell. More specific stains seek to answer other questions specific to the patient s condition. For example, an Iron stain may be required in a patient who underwent a liver biopsy looking for a disease such as Hemochromatosis or other iron storage condition. Other types of special stains may be necessary to examine the tissue for infection. An example would be in a lung biopsy where the patient may have a fungus infection such as Aspergillous. A special stain of PAS /Light Green may be utilized to bring out the fungus if present which may not be evident on routine H E stains. In the 21st century, molecular markers are currently in vogue. Breast cancer requires a number of immunohistochemical markers such as Estrogen and Progesterone. These special stains are looking for the antibody to Estrogen or Progresterone in the patient s breast cancer tissue. If this is present, the Oncologist may treat the patient with certain drugs like Tamoxifin. Herceptin may be used in patient s who have a positive Her2neu antibody. This may be measured by standard immunohistochemistry as in Estrogen or Progesterone measurements. The alternative is to use a molecular testing to quantify the receptors of Her2neu receptors. The above simply illustrates in the most basic way a most complex topic utilizing whole tissue samples. Many times large tissue samples ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Allusion In Dustland Fairytale The writer of Dustland Fairytale , Brandon Flowers, best employs allusion as well as diction to prove the theme not everything in life goes perfectly. Throughout the song, Flowers changes the music to represent different events a couple may face, while using diction, specific word choice at certain points, to metaphorically represent the situations the couple, which turned out to be Flowers parents, may be in. The song starts off softly, using word choice like some kind of slick chrome American prince (Flowers 7) to paint a picture of the perfect fairytale like couple. The story then takes a darker turn using words such as Out here the good girls die (Flowers 32) to represent his mother getting a brain tumor, and how it would affect the... When he writes Saw Cinderella in a party dress and I threw my money and I ran away (Flowers 20 22), the listener is able to see how some people would give up if they had to struggle with a family member, especially a significant other, or a mother, having a brain tumor. Since the lyrics are dark at this point, the listener is able to understand that the reason he threw his money away is because, the ending of the fairytale wasn t perfect. In most fairy tales, there is a point where all hope seems lost, like when Cinderella lost her shoe and the prince couldn t find her. Then, it all comes together to resolve and make the perfect ending like when the prince and Cinderella found each other and fell in love. In this fairytale, however, Flowers indicated that it seemed that this story wouldn t have a perfect ending after all. Flowers also uses Cinderella to relate her story to the couple s time urgency; Cinderella only had a certain amount of time left in her dress, just like how the mother only has a certain amount of time left before she passes. Throughout the story, the listener is able to fully understand how important it is to be ready for difficulties, especially ones that are unexpected and effect ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
