3. Introduction
• it arises from lung but in 90-95% cases it can
arise from epithelial cells.
• it also called as bronchogenic
cancer/carcinoma.
• it can also arises from pleura called
mesotheliomas
• it can also arises rarely from supporting tissues.
• lung is very common site for metastasis from
tumors in other parts of body.

• Smoking And Passive Smoking
• past history of cancer
• lung disease
• Air pollution
• asbestos Fibers
5. Signs And Symptoms
• R/T to Cancer: Cough, Shortness of breath,
wheezing, chest pain, hemoptysis,
dysphagia
• R/T to metastasis: it can spread to brain
and can cause neurological disorders such
as blurred vision, headache, symptoms of
stroke
• Nonspecific: Weight loss, Fatigue,
psychological symptoms.

8. Management
• Rx of lung cancer involve
surgical removal of cancer
• Chemotherapy
• Radiation therapy
• or Combination of these all
9. Surgery
• A wedge resection of the lung(removal of portion
of one lobe)
• A lobectomy (Removal Of one Lobe)
• Bilobectomy (Removal Of Two Lobe)
• A Neumonectomy (Removal of entire lobe)
• segmental resection (Removal of one segment of
lung tissue)
• lymph nodes also are removed
(Lymphadenectomy)
10. Radiation
• it Shrinks (Constricted) the tumor or limits
it’s growth when given as Sole Therapy
• yet in 10-15% cases it leads to long term
remission.
11. Chemotherapy
• it includes the administration of drug that
stop the growth of cancer cells by killing
them or preventing them from dividing.
• it mostly used for small cell lung cancers.
13. Prevention
• Stop Smoking (Use Nicotine gums,
nicotine sprays)
• minimizing exposure to passive smoking.
• undergone methods that allows early
detection of lung cancer in primary stage.
• primary stage cancer can spread to
becoming widespread, incurable,
metastatic.
